Whether it's body paint wigs, skirts, whatever it is, ⁓ crazy glitter. Yes. They're obviously having fun. So this is going be awesome. It's going to be great to chat with these guys and they're going to give us some, even some reminders, right? Some practical, you Hey mindset reminders of this is supposed to be fun. So that's going to be great. That's what's coming up. Erica, would you mind reading our Apple podcast review? ⁓ I love these reviews. They're so fun. So today's review comes from GT walls. AJ and Erica are the perfect blend of helpful, fun, and encouraging. They're clearly passionate runners and the type of people you want to spend more time around. Lucky to have found this podcast early on and have enjoyed every episode. was very nice. Thank you so much. Thank you for leaving that review. We're so glad that the podcast is helpful. ⁓ Before we dive in, Erica, the support crew we launched two weeks ago and I'm having a blast with it. It's so fun. It's fun to have a crew members that are just willing to say, Hey, I want to prop up what you guys are doing. And we're sending out content and goodies for them. And so if you're interested in supporting the show, Join the support crew. can learn all about that at AJ and Erica.com slash support crew. Um, and then I also wanted to mention upcoming episodes. We're about to dive in Erica for the first few weeks of June. We're to dive into, um, something I'm really excited about. It's a, it's going to be off topic for run Disney, but it's very on topic for who you are as a runner or as a human being, to be quite honest with you. So we're going to dive into personality types and how. your personality type impacts you and your training and your running or those around you when you're training and running. And so we're going to dive into that. We've like made like a little itty bitty comments about like what number we are in the enneagram and all that stuff, but we're to dive into it and we're going to bring on a bunch of people to help us because you and I are only you and I. And so we've got a bunch of people coming in that are going to help us over the course of a few episodes. And I'm so excited. When you, when you, I'm giving you two heads up first. Don't like say, ⁓ they're talking personality and they're not talking costumes or whatever and skip past it. Like, give it a chance because you might learn something about yourself. Here's if you're already excited about how this, whatever I'm giving you, this is my second thing. I'm giving you some homework. We're going to dive into the Enneagram as, or like, what do call it? ⁓ personality typing system or whatever. you care to do a little bit of homework, our favorite resource is a book called the road back to you. It's by Ian Morgan Kron. We have no kickbacks on that. we don't know. We don't know him. But if you want to just like get a $15 book or whatever on Amazon and read it, there's all kinds of personality tests online. You can do those. That's fine. But if you want to be able to not just know your type, but be able to learn more about those around you, each chapter, This sounds like a sales pitch for the book. It's not, but if you want to want to like come in prepared, each chapter has a, this is what that personality type is like. You can skim the first page of every chapter first and be like, ⁓ that's me. That's my wife. That's my youngest child. That's my boss. And you can dive into some of those or just find yourself and read that chapter for now. And then we're going to dive into it and how it impacts our running. Any other comment? was a very long introduction to it. But if you're, if you're a, you know, want to be prepared for this series we're to do, I would recommend picking up the book. Any, any thoughts? No, just same thing. I would encourage you to give the book a read or a listen if you do audio books and definitely tune in for the, these next few episodes because it's going to be really good. And then I just have to say like huge shout out to AJ because he's put in so much time coordinating all of these guests that we're going to have on. So you guys are in for a treat. It's going to be really good. And really helpful. Thanks for the shout out, but more of a shout out is to those who are willing to come on the podcast, step out of their comfort zone, absolutely. And be vulnerable to talk about struggles and wins and things like that. so these, we've very intentionally, you know, made sure that we are getting a variety of types of runners, types of personality types. And so it's very intentional and we're super excited about it. That will start the first week of June, I believe. Unless something happens. awesome. Okay. Let's dive in with the two, guys. This is exciting. If you know who the two, guys are great. If you don't, they're two dudes and Kim, who is Tom's wife and they dress in ridiculously awesome costumes and they have a ton of fun on course. Follow them on Instagram. think it's the two, app at the two, guys, I believe is what it is and their content's worth following. They're worth just being around on course. ⁓ and you can always say hi to them on course, which is cool. I have now said for years before I knew them personally. Hey, to do guide. Yeah, like as I went back, you know, and they are a high fiving, encouraging, ⁓ fun group of people. Yeah. So you're going to enjoy that right now. We have the one and only, well, I guess it's two and only, the two and only two two guys. If you've seen them out on the course, you know exactly what I'm talking about. If you haven't seen them on the course, you're in for a treat. The next time you go do you run Disney, these guys are fun, loud, bright, big. Any other descriptions you got for them? Fun. Did I say fun? All the things. Yeah. All the things. Tom and Adam, the two two guys. Welcome to one more run the podcast. What's up? How you guys doing? Thanks for having us. We are so good. Tom, it's welcome to have you. We were, I mean, we're glad to have you back. Adam, welcome for the first time. We're, we're hoping that, ⁓ this is a fun conversation. just want to literally have fun. Like that's it. The title of this podcast episode is it's supposed to be fun. So you guys, you guys game for that? we're down. We're down. I just hope that, you know, he didn't pre-interview Kim and She's going to pop up here on screen. this time. We're pulp. You know, we don't want to overdo the surprises. So yeah, we're one time only. We do want to play a game with you. have questions about where the two twos came from. have all kinds of questions, but before that we'd love to see how well you know each other in a round. I'm calling who knows who better than who trying to figure out how many who's I can get in one sentence. Are you guys cool with that? we'll do, we're thinking, we'd love to alternate questions and Tom, Erica will ask you a question about Adam. Adam, I'll ask you a question about Tom and we'll see who knows the other person the best. We'll see who wins that game. We've got tiebreakers if needed and then we'll dive into talking about the two two guys. You guys up for it? Let's do it. do it. I've got the first one. Adam, here's your first, you get a point for each one. Adam, what is Tom's favorite attraction at Epcot? You know, this could go so many ways. I initially want to say it's Marco in Italy. and the espresso martini, perhaps the Rose and Crown. But I mean, if we're going with true attractions, I guess I have to go with Guardians. All right, Tom, how do you feel about that? Is that the correct answer? Maybe Horizons, as long as we're looking at, you know, existing things. It could be Horizons, but it's definitely Guardians currently. Okay. Perfect. Nicely done. Way to tee us off with a point. You're winning. You want to just call the game right here since you're already winning? Pick a call. Oh, no, no, no, I'd love to hear some of his answers. Yeah, yeah. Great. All right. right, Tom, what is Adam's favorite attraction at Hollywood Studios? We're going to have to go with let's go tower terror for this one. Yeah, no, it would be rise to the resistance. That was my second. My backup. You win. So my second would would be Tower of Terror. If I had to pick between the two, it would be rise. People watching on Sunquake Boulevard. Exactly. That's, that's the best ride, right? Yeah. That's awesome. All right. So back to Adam. If an attraction broke down while, while Tom was on it, which ride would he not be mad about? Well, I know it's not Tiana's Biotery cause he's been on that one when it broke down and he wasn't overly thrilled. I would say maybe Rise of the Resistance, but he gets bored really easy. So I'm going to say Buzz Lightyear cause it would give him something to do while it was broken down. I don't know. I would love to be at the top of Expedition Everest. Really? Just cooking up in the sun up there in the top of Expedition Baking up there enjoying the view. This is after the beer, right? That sounds miserable. How can you that one on your own, my friend? All right, Tom, there is no way in the world you're going to get Adam on which attraction? I'm going to say not frozen the ride, frozen the show. The sing-along. OK. What was the question? Same thing? No, there's no way you're getting on what ride? You're absolutely not doing it. Mission to Mars. Oh, that's a good one. That is a good one. Mission space. There we go. Sorry. How's the score? Adam has one point. That's it? That's all we have so far? All right. Well, Adam, you're winning. You guys know each other real well, I guess. All right. Adam, this one's for you. Tom has a hundred dollars to spend at the Run Disney Expo. What is he buying? probably a tank top that's too small for him. More than likely, my final answer is going to be a pair of Brooks shoes. He's going to put it towards Brooks shoes. Okay. All right. I was going with the spirit jersey on that one. Spirit jersey. Okay. You guys have met before, right? guys know each other. Your jerseys living in Orlando. Yeah. Coming from the guy who has how many, how many shoes you have like all of them, but like three. The race spirit jerseys, they're a little heavier in the closet. Okay. All right, Tom, what is one thing Adam is always going to do at the expo guaranteed? Get our number photos, our photos with the mile mark numbers, and most likely have them get progressively more ridiculous as we get higher in mileage with most likely me squatting him on my shoulders for the challenge one. Yeah. It's not really a me thing. That's an us thing, but I'll give it to you. ⁓ all right. Good. We got some points on the board. Yeah. Those do seem to be getting more and more ridiculous. I've often now wondered like, has run Disney said anything about the fact that the numbers like being held in the air, you know, like, yeah, y'all haven't gotten in trouble about that. haven't said anything. Okay. But we've been cautious. Yeah. All right, Adam, if Tom had to fill in last minute as a race announcer, would he rather have Carissa's job or Riley's job? Palki not an option. Nope. Um, I guess if he had to pick, like I initially would think like Carissa, cause Tom is like the center of attention. It's always about Tom. It's like the Tom show, right? Yeah. But ultimately I got to go with Riley. think, I don't know. I think Tom would just be a much better Riley. He's good at interacting with strangers. He's just a good hype man. And about 30 seconds is really all you need. Like, I feel like Tom would just be really good at that. He got it. He got Yes, awesome. That's good. Awesome. That's what I was thinking too. I love it. Okay, Tom, if Adam had to fill in last minute as an announcer, would he rather have John's job or Tracy's job? Is Riley not an option? I know, right? It'd be Riley. I was wondering, know, okay, makes a lot of sense now. Yeah, he'd be Pelkey. 100%. Okay, 100%. Y'all are tied. All right. It's a 5K. Would Tom rather run in plain clothes with friends or in a tutu, but on his own? This is a run Disney five. Correct. Correct. It's a Disney 5K. He'd much rather be in plain clothes with friends. I'm not giving up the tutu. hang on. I guess I should have said that he would prefer to be in a tutu, but he would stick back with his friends. OK, so he's but you're not giving him the point there, I don't know about that one. You're two two all day every day, I gave you more credit. I'm a terrible person. know. Okay, Tom, it's a springtime 10K. Would Adam rather run in a fleece onesie or wear a wig that hangs down past his knees? Let's go with the wig. I feel like that's the right answer with it's springtime. It'd be hot as mess. Well, while he thinks, can I just let everybody know that I just heard Kim laugh from the other room on whatever that response was? That's funny. I'm going to go with the wig. He's got me there. Okay. Yeah. Yes. Points. Perfect. think the score is still pretty even, right? ⁓ Tom S3, Adam S2. Okay. Here we go. ⁓ what is, Adam, what is the one character that Tom is going to stop for above all others? The one with the shortest line. I would say Chippendale because Chippendale is something that Ken loves and he's never going to pass up Chippendale if the line is short, but we're not going to stop if It's a character that we're dressed as. So like we ran as Hercules and we saw Hades. So I would say he's not going to pass up. We're going to, we're going to take a picture with somebody who's in character with what we're dressed as. Okay. Do we accept that answer Erica or do we, or does it need to be a character or do need an actual, do you need a character? You're good with that. was fine with that. Erica's fine with it. So we're accepting it because I want to have somewhere to sleep to see. right. So it's all good. Uh, Tom, whoever you're dressed as is the answer. I was gonna go with Chip and Dale, because I heard that's right from the other room. How is Kim listening right now? Like you said, I know how you feel AJ. Yeah. my soul hurts on a roll. I'm not missing a chance to pose down with Hercules. All right. So there's no point in war. There's no point. There's no point. Okay, Tom, who is the one character that Adam is going to stop for above all others? Darkwing Duck. This is incredible. Oh, yeah. This is incredible. Is there a story behind that that I don't know? He dressed as her. I dressed as her. I'm always kind of at a soft spot for her. Okay. So, all right. Hopefully your wife doesn't listen to this podcast. Cool. ⁓ she's full of where she's aware. She's aware. Got it. ⁓ it's mild to Adam. It's mile 20 of the marathon. Tom can have any park snack he wants delivered to him. What does he want? He's definitely catabolic at this point. So he's angry. If beer was an option, I would say he'd want a beer at mile 20. If not, I'm going to go with a meatball sub from Cantina at East or Canada, Catalina, Eddie's correct on all accounts. The answer is yes. ⁓ man. Okay. Tom post-marathon, Adam can only have one drink of his choice to celebrate. What does he choose? It's a half pineapple, half McLobe. Yes. I know the pineapple is more expensive. You can charge me for the pineapple. It's a whole thing. Every time you get to the front of that line. So I was going to ask, is it have to be confined to drinks at the Run Disney finish line? could be. I'll give Tom You get a drink. You you accept the answer still? No, I'll give him that one. I still accept that. For Run Disney, that's the correct answer. All right. Did you ask that question? You did. Okay, perfect. All right. Adam, Tom forgot his running shoes on half marathon day and has to choose between his flip flops, fleece lined Crocs and his boots. Which one does he choose? Half marathon. Man, I guess it really depends upon the costume that day because boots really don't go with ball gowns and Crocs funny enough, don't go with anything. And I would say flip-flops, but Tom's got some really weird looking toes. I'm really, you got me in a bind here. Sorry. Like I want to say flip-flops, but the logical choice would be the Crocs. Fleece lined Crocs. How do you feel about that, Tom? Are you sure you don't want to listen to your gut here? I'm throwing you a box. Flip flops. I'm not putting rocks on. not doing it. Thank God. All righty. You got to go with flip flops. Like that was my initial thought. And then I was like, I don't know, Tom, I wear the crocs. Okay. That was right. Correct. You say flip flops. Yeah. All right. They're tied. Perfect. All right. We've got four more questions. It looks like, we need to, are we getting close to a tie break? Yeah. They're, you're tying. Okay. All right. We'll see how this shakes down. Let's go. Okay, Tom, Adam has to blindly trust you to come up with his outfit no matter what, or he has to skip the race. Which way does he go? Blind trust. Blind trust. Perfect. Okay, good. I'm not skipping the race. Right. All right, Adam, would Tom rather start in Corral A alone or Corral G with friends? Similar to before, but how do you feel? Would he rather start in Corral A alone and G with friends? Is this A would he rather or what would he actually do? Would he rather? Which would he choose? He's got to go with the balloon ladies. Okay, because he would rather be an A alone because as he said before, he's Tom, but he wouldn't leave his friends. He'd drop back to G. Okay, so you're saying A though, because you said he would rather do that. No, no, he would rather do A, but what he would do is drop back to G with us. It's that combination. I'd rather be an eagle with my friends. It's tricky there. I'd rather stick with the friends. You'd rather be in a, but you would stick with the friend. Adam gets the point. Yeah. Okay. Tom, same question. Would Adam, Adam rather start in corral a alone or corral G with friends? He's a G with friends guy. You don't want to be alone. Yeah. I don't want to talk. I'd rather be in a, but I'm not going to be alone. I'm not doing that without you guys. Right. Okay. Last two questions. And if we need a tiebreaker, we'll do it. Um, Adam, if Tom could only run one, sorry, if Tom could only run one race at a run Disney race weekend. Which one would it be? All four weekends. He can only choose one race. Which one is it? Princess half marathon. That was a confident answer too. I can only get. Okay. There's a specific reason why, and it has to do with being a princess. You know what? Princess half marathon. Right. ⁓ good. Is there a story here that we get to hear later? Cause I would like to know if there's a story. Maybe if we're lucky, possibly. Okay. Perfect. Save it. All right. So this is Tom's last chance to catch up. Yeah. Right. Cause Adam's in lead by one. ⁓ no, I think they're well. Yeah. Okay. No. Okay. Perfect. Last question. Okay. Tom for a Disney half marathon, would Adam rather run down main street or get a finished medal for that race? If he could only have one, I would think he would give up that finished metal to run down main street because he does have a wife that doesn't run with us and that's where she spectates. And he always looks forward to seeing Erica spelled correctly with a K just like you on main street. He's that's one of the highlights of his race. He takes off. ahead of us and Eric is waiting on Main Street. Look at his face. You could meet us at the ticket and transportation center. So Tom said Main Street, right? That's what he just said. I've been so focused on Adam's face. did. I can't wait to see what this, how this goes. Thank you. If he doesn't say Main Street now, Eric might get mad at him. Well, I mean, sorry, I'm going to go ahead and just say that, yeah, I would skip the middle. I'd rather have the memory of doing Main Street. Perfect. Awesome. All right. How did that score? Do need tiebreakers or do we have a winner already? I think we're tied. Tom wins. think we're tied? Did you lose track? Well, no, I thought that Adam That ties it up. Tom got it right. I think it's tied. It's tied. So tiebreaker, we have two tiebreakers. I was ahead by one. That's what I thought. All right. Okay. Well, no, we're doing a tiebreaker. We're doing a tiebreaker, no matter the score. So it all comes down to this. Everybody wants to know the tiebreaker. Buzzer beater right here. Erica, go for it. Okay, Tom, what has been your fellow Tutu guy's favorite Ren Disney costume you've ever used? I mean, it's gotta be the ugly stepsisters. Oh, but it could be Mrs. Incredible for him. I think that'd be his personal choice on his favorite costume he's done. But I think the ugly stepsisters would probably be the goat. Yeah, he hit it pretty much on the head there. I was like, he's wrong. No, he's right. So we're good. Okay, same question. Adam, this is for the win. He can either walk away or we tie it up again. We've got another tiebreaker. Same question. What's his favorite costume you guys have ever done? As the two of us, it's the ugly stepsisters hands down, but ⁓ zebras was pretty good. But I think I'd have to go when he went as Yondu, as Yondu Poppins. Correct on both accounts. okay. All right. This is the last question I have. If you guys tie on this one, then we're just going to have to call it. Yeah. In case you guys tied again. So here's a lot. Here's the last question I have legitimately. I got nothing after this. ⁓ if you guys ran as a two, two guys at a race other than run Disney, which would your fellow two, two guy choose? So, ⁓ Adam, you can go first since you had to go second on the last one. We've run in two, twos and other races before, but I guess if you had to pick one, how about the New York city marathon? That's a thumbs up from Tom right now. up. Okay, Tom. I mean, it sounds like he wants us to wear tutus at the New York Marathon. I think he wants to wear tutus. I think something just happened. I think he just plotted out our costumes for us. No, we're not doing that. We're not doing it. All right. Did you give an answer? Are you staying in New York or you say, is that your I'm going to New York. Okay. Is that true? Is that true, Adam? Or are you saying a different race? I mean, if we were going to do it, we don't do a ton of races outside of Disney. we'd have to just pick one that we're both doing. So it would have to be New York by default. Perfect. Well, that's basically like, that was 22 questions and y'all just tied them all basically at the end of it. So I was worried about you at the beginning. You didn't seem to know each other very well, but obviously we got warmed up. ⁓ okay, cool. That was fun. Thanks for warming up with that. That was super awesome. We have questions about having fun on course. Like that's the topic of today, but we do need to kind of get to know you guys a little bit. You guys can tell the, tell the story if you want. mean, Most people probably know who you are, but maybe they don't know the story. Right. So for someone who hasn't had a chance to do around Disney yet, ⁓ where did the whole two, guys thing come from? think, I think I kicked it off. Initially I ran a dopey first, they'll be back after COVID and I was, I ran for team girls on the run and I was struggling to raise money charity. was my first dopey first marathon. was riding the struggle bus to, to raise that money. And I was having a little bit of a little bit of nerves and I told the members at the gym I worked out at the time. said, the guys that will run for 48.6 miles in a tutu if you donate a dollar. Like if everybody donates a dollar and I get to my goal, I will do this whole thing in a tutu. And ⁓ then he was like, hey, that thing looks fun. I said, well, actually there's some spots in, and this was much easier time to get into. It's like this charity's got some spots in a princess, but here's the deal. I'm dressing up because it was so much fun to dress up in a tutu. I'm going to dress up as Ariel. So you're going to need to dress up as well. And I think that was kind of the, the start. didn't have a two. Did you wear a two to his flounder the first time I wore a, I wore a skirt. There wasn't like the two, two. was, it was a skirt. Yes. They were more running skirts and they evolved into the two foods. Gotcha. So you were going to do the race and how to join in. but, but joining in meant you had to wear a two to this or a skirt. That that's how the host of the story starts. Adam didn't want to join in. Adam was pretty much forced. yeah. Oh, and here we are. Really? Okay. Yeah. This wasn't something I wanted to do. He was like, Hey, your, your wife's in town for a conference at Coronado. And by the way, Saturday morning, there's a 10 K you should come run it. I've, I know a charity that we're good. And I was like, sure. So 48 hours before the race, I started ordering stuff on Amazon and woke up early Saturday morning. and went and ran a race. And I was like, okay, all right, we're good. That was a one and done thing for me. you a runner at the time or no? No, not really. I don't consider myself like an avid runner. I've run a lot more now than I used to, but I was taking Orange Theory classes. I was running anywhere between 17 to 20 miles a week through Orange Theory. So yes, I guess, but not in the I run races kind of way. So Tom, why'd you extend that invitation? That's where I'm, trying to fill the gaps on here. If he wasn't a runner or whatever, you were just literally just looking for a buddy to do this with or what? I was looking for a buddy to deal with. ⁓ I had Kim on as well. And I said, you know, I got this idea. I'm dressing up this Ariel. I said, I just got so much, so many funny responses that first time running Dopey in the, in this little red skirt, I was like, I have an idea. I want to ramp it up. So I need a flounder. I need a Sebastian. on Amazon because I found bibs and come do this with me. Yeah. And here we are, what five years later, still, still rocking. Five years later. Yeah. So bottom line is the outfits have just gotten like more and more elaborate, right? Like, we talked about some of your favorites. Can you tell me about this springtime surprise zebras thing? Like this seems to be just like getting a borderline out of control, you know, like can you tell me about the zebras? Like, how did you put all that makeup on? Like I need to know the story. You got anything you want to throw on this one, Adam, before I go into the makeup problem? ⁓ We've had some pretty elaborate costumes. I think the zebras was great. The body paint ones, though, are always tricky. God bless Kim and her poor car and all of that white body paint from the zebras. But I got lucky when you realize the zebra that I dressed up as, you really don't see most of his stripes. So I didn't have to. I just had to sweat profusely in a track jacket or a bomber jacket. So that was hot, but it didn't have to run in the body paint that Tom did. But I'll let Tom explain that and I'll graciously explain how we washed him off. I'm ready. mean, hidden hobby of mine is body painting. I've body painted multiple times through life. I think the first time I was in high school and I, ⁓ what was it? I was on the Marriott marquee is Don Quixote in bronze. was a living statue. So that's where it started. And I was, yeah, if I'm doing a zebra, I'm going to be a zebra. I'm going to paint myself. And, ⁓ my wife said, don't do it. It's going to be hot. Don't do it. And the funniest part of this one for me was there was a gentleman and I, I commend him. said, yeah, I woke up at. 11 o'clock to start painting my body. He was up all night painting his body, painting his face. He was on the camera with Riley and I'm sitting here thinking, I'm like, we parked the car at what, 4.05 that morning. I started painting the second I got out of the car. I was just slathering. I was just covering myself in body paint. Like I didn't need it to look, it was never going to look film accurate. Yeah, sure. I just wanted to have fun with it. That's awesome. We need to know how that body paint got off that you mentioned that. Did you not see the video? ⁓ no, there's a video. ⁓ there's a video. We had about 10 minutes away from the park, so he hosed me down in his driveway. Yeah, I saw that video. That the caveat. Yeah. Come back to the house. You can come back to the house and change, but I'm literally hosing you down. And he goes, OK, so I took the hose and I hosed him down. All right. We have a pool and a hose. The hose was good for Tom. Yes. Like a small child in the front yard. You can't come in to like hose you off. That's right. Oh, that's so good. I have to watch it. it. Avery was mowing the lawn outside. That's so funny. That is. Oh my gosh. That's awesome. All right, y'all. The Ren Disney community has a reputation for being incredibly welcoming. Why do you think that is and how are you guys trying to contribute to it? I mean, it starts at the top. It's the leadership and the You know, the people on the stage are probably the most welcoming people out there and they want everybody wants you to finish. Everybody wants you one foot in front of the other. And that just cascades down to the P it draws in the right crowd because it's coming from Carissa, John Riley, Tracy, all the way up to Adam Ball. They've just created such, you know, and an inclusive community that's welcoming anybody, everybody. ⁓ I, for me, I think it's welcoming because. The very first time I ran, I felt like I was running with 13,000 of my best friends. I mean, even though Tom was out there, everybody was just excited to be there. Everyone was thrilled to be up at two o'clock in the morning and standing at 5 a.m. waiting to run in the corrals. I'm standing there thinking, I would much rather be asleep. And everybody's energy just is infectious. you just see people out there, they're moving. You know, they've made time to do this. They run it for fun. And if they get their time, great, but they're just out there having a good time and they're moving and smiling and that's hard to totally. No matter, no matter what somebody looks like, whether they look like a runner or not, like, like no matter what you guys seem to be adding to that, like you're welcome here vibe. Like, is that on purpose for you guys? Like, it seems like you're just high five and whoever and encouraging whoever is that on purpose? Jumping onto what he was just saying, like everybody wants to be there, but if you keep your eyes open, there's always somebody that there's a moment that they don't want to be there. They're not sure if they're going to finish. They're not sure if they're going to make it. There's self doubt. And I think everybody who's ever run a five, 10, half or full has had that moment. So if you can put that smile on somebody's face and make them feel like, you've got this. Just keep going. Like it is the most lift you up. type of community and no man, no woman, no child left behind type of situation where everybody's just amazing out there. That's awesome. Adam, if someone's kind of putting off the, I'm not going to sign up for this cause I'm not a runner or I'm not a runner enough of a runner, or I don't know if I can do it kind of vibe. Like what's your encouragement to that person? That's obviously getting into the races as hard, but they're not even sure that they should be trying to sign up any, any encouragement you would give to that person. ⁓ I'm assuming if they're thinking about signing up for a run Disney race, they're fans of Disney. And for that reason alone, I would say they should go do it. But I know if you're a fan of Disney, you've been to the parks and I've heard the conversations. I've heard people sit at dinner and be like, ⁓ my gosh, I walked 25,000 steps today. Or, ⁓ my gosh, I walked 17,000 steps today. When I run a 10K, I don't even break 10,000 steps. And when I say run, I use that term very loosely, especially during run Disney. You've seen our costumes. We're not out there. making any great time for not breaking records. We're breaking sweats because of the costumes we're wearing. And we're just happy to cross the finish line. But before the balloon ladies, right? We're out there, we're having a good time. And when you start thinking about how long you have out there to complete a race and how many steps you might take in the park on a daily basis, you can do this. At least one. You can do a 5k, you can do a 10k. Start there. See how you feel. I love it. He hit the nail on the head there. Like I got my 60 plus mother who was like, ⁓ I could never do a five K. I'm like, you are a diehard Disney person, mom. You will get through that five K. I will get you. And I'm like trying to convince her. Yeah. Yeah. Go do it. Just, for the experience, at least try the five K. And if you love Disney, like we do, I guarantee you end up signing up for that, like that 10 K. If nothing bad happens during that five. You're going to be like, I'm hooked. that's why, you know, registration day is so fun. yeah. That's right. I like, yeah, fun. That's a nice word to use there. And that's good. I like that positive spin on that. Y'all what's the most joyful moment you've ever witnessed during a Rendez-Nu race? Maybe something that reminded you exactly why you do this. For me, the strongest people I know out there are the mother and daughter, Stacey and Adreleux. And Stacey pushes Adreleux through miles and miles every season, not just at Run Disney, but at various races. And that first finish line where she stood up out of that chair and crossed that line on her feet. don't, I don't have words. I don't have words. And I have never met a young woman who just exemplifies the joy of run Disney because when she sees you, she lights up, she lights up and she's just an amazing young lady that just, I don't know. I want to cry. Yeah, 100%. Adam, any moments for you? You asked the question. was like, I know what Tom's going to say because it's the exact same thing I'm going to say watching her cross that finish line. Like I've seen a lot of joyful moments. People who have literally said, there's no way I can do this. So Kim being one of them, probably the most avid person said, I can't do Dopey and Tom for so long. Yes, you can. And the first marathon she ran was Dopey and watching her cross the finish line and like start to get emotional. Yeah. Like I look over and like, I'm like, okay, I'm fine. Like everything's fine. I'm getting emotional talking about it. It's, it's just seeing your friends do things that they didn't think they could possibly do. And then realizing that, yeah, I've, felt that emotion before and seeing somebody else experience it. That's fantastic. Yeah. awesome. A hundred percent. got Erica's tears. Let's get off this, uh, let's get off this sad stuff, you know, and let's, uh, let's get back to the point of this episode, which is to have fun. What's the funniest moment you guys have, have had on course anything, it could be multiple, right? But what's the funniest thing that's happened to you during a run Disney race? I don't know. There's, there's two that kind of come to mind as like. On me, I guess, and more just like, can't believe that happened. Like the time when they, when we ran as Hercules and Tom ran as Hercules and I ran as Phil and. I'm his trainer. don't have a shirt on and we go to take our pictures with Hades and they won't let us take the picture because we're not allowed to take pictures with characters without our shirts on. And they literally weren't going to let me. And I was like, have you seen Tom? Like he exists without a shirt all the time. It's like the one race he has a shirt on. And I was like, we're dressed as Hercules. We're getting this picture. If you look at the picture of Tom as Hercules and me as Phil and then Hades. I'm wearing Tom's cape as a shirt. We tied it on so I could take the picture. It's like, ⁓ guys, what's going on here? I've never once questioned on a photo, man having a shirt on. And then the one time, the one time I don't have, they're like, sir, sir, sir, you need to put a shirt on. He's fine. You need to put a shirt on. Yeah, I'd take offense to that. Thanks guys. Appreciate it. She had this support. Do I remember you guys a story from another podcast that maybe it on three, two, one go or something where you couldn't get on a ride because you didn't have a shirt on or something. You had to go buy one. Is that, was that, do I remember that? That was me. ⁓ we, got to expedition. Was that your first, first dopey Adam? No, it was our second. Right. His second. Yeah. And got to the front of the line and they were like, dude, you can't ride without a shirt. We actually weren't at the front yet. I ran into the gift shop. I was like, you got to have a shirt in here. said, I know I'm buying one. Yeah. was like, I got to buy one to be in the store and get on the ride. I still have that shirt. It's been worn once. It's yellow expedition, every shirt. And now I carry a tank top for every dopey after. Oh, that's funny. That's great. I have a funny visual of him trying to like. Get his picture taken. Nope. You need a shirt. Okay. Let me go get a shirt. Nope. You can't get that shirt. We can't go in the store without a shirt. I'm trying to buy a shirt. You know, okay. That's so funny. only time they let me in parks without a shirt on. Yeah, exactly. It's Cool. Any other funny stories? I honestly don't remember who it was at this point. I know I had on knee high socks, so it was either Alice or one of the versions of Aurora, but I couldn't hold it. I had to run off course into like the woods to use the facilities. And I came back out and I had jumped into like a cockroach bush, like a little prickly thing all over my socks. And they were, they were all in my tutu covered in them and I'm running and Kim's like running behind me and she's like, stop. And she's like picking them out, know? So for like the next two miles, we were literally just like, there's another, there's another trail. That's not smart. Don't recommend it. Don't recommend it. Oh my gosh. That's funny. Well along those lines, oh, what are you gonna say Tom? I'm gonna give you one more. Yeah. I just think, like, I cannot forget this and it's so funny because I had a call with this woman randomly yesterday. I was on the phone with her and maybe three, four years ago this Canadian woman starts heckling me on the course and I could not shake this woman. She was, if you know, I gotta wear a shirt and you don't gotta wear a shirt. She's heckling me the entire entire time without having no shirt. we were just back and forth, back and forth pacing with her. And then we started seeing her at the next race and the next race and Lynn from Canada. I love her now. Like I thought she, I'm like, is she being a pain in my butt or is she just funny about this? Yeah, yeah. She's most funny one. She's hysterical. I was getting hassled on that course. like, Jesus, I want to buy a shirt again. This is getting expensive with all these shirts that you have to buy that you don't want to wear. Yeah. my gosh. Tell me about it. Have the tutus or your costumes ever been a problem during a race? Yeah, all of them. Maybe has there been one where it wasn't a problem. Right. So I will say we did have, I don't necessarily think it was problems with the tutus when we ran as the Incredibles. We ran and the masks, we ran in the masks. We had a lot of problems with photo. that particular race, because that was the same race we ran, same weekend we ran as her. I couldn't, they were, they would take our picture and they were pulling all the pictures down afterwards because we had on like the Incredibles mask that still showed your eyes. And I don't understand why it's like, how is it any different than me wearing sunglasses? I get that you can't wear masks, but sunglasses cover my eyes more than those things. So as soon as they were loaded, we were pulling them down immediately. and we were trying to save them. And then I think later that day they went through and purged them all. So they were all gone. So thankfully we have some of them. Rapunzel wig is no con. I'll say that. I was going to say the Rapunzel wig was the most recent one. It's heavy to one side. So you're like, have like a neck crick. It was so heavy on the one side. We had to take a safety pin and actually pin it up on my shoulder to alleviate the weight so that he wasn't running like this the entire time. ⁓ my gosh. That's funny. Has anyone ever come to y'all and said that seeing you on the chorus changed their race? I had a call with a woman randomly about a month ago and she's training for a race, wanted some assistance and she goes, I don't know if you remember me, but you gave my mom just some words of encouragement and it made her know she could finish her first ever marathon. And I was like, me? I did that? And I'm like, it just seems, I think it just comes out like when you're... I want everybody to finish. want everybody to feel that same joy we talked about earlier. And I was like, okay. She goes, you made mom's race. And I was like, that's awesome. That was my win for the day. Awesome. It's not necessarily during a race. It's usually after the races or it's at the expo or it's about a race that they ran last season. And it's like, hey, we were passing each other. You know, we were running the intervals opposite of yours. So we'd always run past you guys and we were kind of in the same bunch. You guys were at the end during the marathon. And it's like, if the two, guys are back here, you know, it's like, clearly they're going to finish. So we just have to keep up with them. That's right. You know, and as long as we can keep them in, in sight, it's like, we're just, that's the part I would say is like, you don't realize the people that you're inspiring until long after the fact. The fact that we inspire anyone is just absolutely humbling to me. So it's always amazing to hear those stories. Totally. What ⁓ do you guys think is the most underrated form of encouragement at a run Disney race, right? Something that people might not give enough credit to. I got to give a shout out to Kim when we were running our dopey and she met us. I think it was close to mile 20 and she brought us breakfast burritos right outside of Hollywood studios. And I remember thinking, This is the coolest thing anyone has ever brought me on course. And we literally were walking with breakfast burritos from the exit of Hollywood studios, probably until we got to the boardwalk, just devouring it. was fantastic. Now I seem to remember this story a little differently. I seem to remember her bringing us breakfast burritos from the Polynesian to Hollywood studios and hers and you saying, Well, do you want to just split one? I'm like, she has to. Why am I sharing mine with you? Take a burrito, eat half of it. And, and now the burrito is, is mind blowing to him. Well, again, I remember thinking, do I really want a full burrito at mile 20? And he goes, no, you just take it. If you only want half throw it away. And sure enough, I devoured the whole thing. It's like, yeah. Okay. Sure. Yeah. Awesome. So the best form of encouragement is a food delivery Uber eats on the course. underrated, most underrated by far. 100%. That's awesome. I mean, I guess it's not underrated, but it's, it's the support. Like we've got, he mentioned Kim being out there and just doing the tour and she started at Epcot with us, jumped to Magic Kingdom, dropped the TTC all the way, had breakfast while we worked our way over to studios. And now that Kim runs with us, Adam's wife does that with a group of Our other friends, they just, they start with us. They make their way around. They're not running, but they're out there and everybody that comes out there and doesn't have to be up at 4 30 in the morning. Bless you. Cause the energy level, when you go down main street is just through the charts and that that just charges my batteries. Totally. And it's so much fun. the cheer squad. They have buttons that say cheer squad, but cheer with an E A R and it's got the genie on it. Like it's fantastic. Like they have their own. buttons and I love it. As Tom said, anybody who's willing to get up that early to watch somebody go run. Yeah, there was a family that drove what eight hours, 10 hours overnight to cheer on, you know, with their with their children to Disney World. It's just that much fun. I'm serious. Cheering is the best. How far did you guys drive? Come on. You exaggerated. It was seven hours. So you exaggerated a little bit. But yes, we did drive overnight because we wanted to support some friends. Yes. It's amazing. When we had another friend, think Mike Berselli did that too. And it's like, man, you drove. You're gonna have to come here, but you love the event. You want to cheer your friends on. Like, yeah, it's amazing. It's like you guys were talking about seeing somebody cross their first finish line for something major, like the, you know, the marathon or the Dopey or whatever. And you know that feeling. so, We have experienced now friends like seeing a familiar face on the side cheering for us. And it's like, we have to do that for someone else. we just, you know, it's so much fun. just, you really appreciate it. So, ⁓ okay. Sometimes we put a lot of pressure on ourselves, PRs, pace groups, training plans. How can we keep the fun alive when the pressure might be weighing heavy? Man, I want to almost throw them, throw my, my coaching hat on for a second, because I just had this conversation with somebody yesterday. And you know, I'm so proud of her. hope she listens to this episode because I can't tell you how proud of you I am. She missed the, she missed her proof of time by two minutes. She was so down on herself and we beat ourselves up over these things, right? On the glass half full side of things that two minutes was still a 15 minute PR for her. ⁓ wow. She's 15 minutes over half marathons and incredible. Unbelievable. Yeah, that's awesome. And I was like, might've fallen short this time, but You 15 minutes closer to that proof of time. It's just keep pushing. I've seen this year's coaching. You cannot get a PR every time. It will not happen every time. So don't lose that joy of running just because you know, you're, chasing a PR. I have failed and failed and failed at PRs again, time and time again, but it makes those ones that you get so much more, more special. Don't let perfection impede progress. There's your corporate soundbite. Yeah. Yeah. Corporate soundbite, but it's so true. You know, like I've missed my, I've got a PR goal. I've missed it now. What five half marathons in a row. I mean, the lot, this last one by seconds, you know, and, I'm still progressing, you know, I'm still every time a little bit faster. So yeah, a hundred percent agree with that. You'll get it. Just keep showing up. That's the other thing. Yep. I plan to, I just keep getting older at the same time, which is, you know, the working against me. Feel that. Yeah. What's the differentiator between somebody who survives a race and somebody who truly experiences it? My, my thought is there are people out there who get in their head and they think, I can't do it. can't do it. And what you say to yourself is what actually comes to fruition. You have to change that mindset. Yeah, I can do it. I am going to do it. And showing up and finding a group of people that support you and motivate you to be the best version of yourself. to get out onto the course and enjoy it and experience it. It's so much fun to be out there. And I think people just get lost on, need to cross the finish line. I'm going to get swept by the balloon ladies. I need to make sure that I have enough fuel and hydration and all of these other pieces. Just taking a step back and relaxing. It's like, there's all these other people that are have to get to the finish line. I can go with them. We'll all get together. We'll get there. We'll enjoy it. like it. I like it. I got nothing to add on that one. Okay. Good. Perfect. Then, then we can throw this next question at you. Yeah. ⁓ Tom, when something doesn't go your way on a race weekend, how do you personally shake that off and get back to having fun? Life is too short for me. You know, I'll get bummed for a minute and you just keep going. Life is too short. I don't, I don't want to, what'd he say? Don't cry over spilled milk. Just keep moving forward. Just shake it off. ⁓ he's got one. He's like, I remember you getting upset about something. rained on marathon. ⁓ what was it? Mile three or four, we were running in a downpour. We hadn't even made it into Magic Kingdom yet. And I was like, I'm to take my shirt off like at mile 20. And at mile four, I remember standing next to the mile marker signs, but I can't wear this. I'm soaked. My feet are soaked. I feel disgusting. I need a new pair of socks. I stopped into a gift shop and bought another pair of socks. Sorry. My wife stopped into a gift shop, bought another pair, met me on course with them. It was like things didn't go our way. It was raining. It was a downpour, but we were still running through Disney and I was with my best friend. So yeah. It was fun. You're under Tron. That's where I'm like, is it? Yeah, we hung out by what? ⁓ Ariel's grotto. Ariel's grotto. We met Bob or as it was clearing up, we met Bob from Rise and Run for the first time right in front of the statue. Soaked, but so is everyone else. Yeah. Yep. We remember that one. The castle. Yeah, we were running. Yeah, we were right there on Main Street when it completely unloaded on us. Yeah. We remember. ⁓ last question I have, ⁓ question wise, and then we can throw it to you guys. If you have anything else you want to talk about, can you guys finish this sentence? Each of you, if you don't have the same answer, ⁓ run Disney is supposed to be fun because there's beer waiting for you with the finish line. Perfect. There is. I I think, I think it's supposed to be fun because you're out there with 13,000 of your best friends, closest friends. You get to see all these people dressed up. You get to meet characters and. see characters that you wouldn't normally see in park potentially dressed as your favorite character like a comic con. That's why it's supposed to be fun. Disney was founded on bringing joy to people and 99 % of the people that do or run Disney race have some love for Disney. It's it all just compounds into what Adam was just saying. Like everybody loves each other out there. There's no there's just no space for negativity out there and the world needs more places like that. Look at the energy at four o'clock in the morning. Awesome. Awesome. Well, you guys, this has been so much fun. Thank you for chatting with us. Is there anything that you want to talk about? Any stories that you want to share that we didn't bring up? Just anybody thinking about it. Anybody thinking about doing that first race, just give it a try. Do not make your first one a marathon if you've never done a 5k before, but get out there, try it. You're going to love it. All right. Awesome. Well, thank you guys so much for being on the show with us. Tell us before we go, what's next for you? When is your next Rendez-Ni race that we can expect to see you guys? Wine and Dine 5K and Wine and Dine half for me. And if anybody's got a good lead on a charity, Bib, you know where to reach me. We got to figure out a way to get him into the 10K. I know we're doing New York the next weekend and you want to save your legs, but you're going to miss a perfect season by one race? Come on, man. We got to get you in. Awesome. Thank you guys for joining us on the podcast. This was super fun. Everybody knows to find you guys at the two two guys on Instagram. We'll link to that for sure. And I need to go on their Instagram right now and watch the hosing down video because apparently I missed that one. But you guys, thank you. Thanks so much for joining us today. A big thank you to the two, guys for joining us today and Tom for coming back second time around. I love that Kim was in the room next door laughing and laughing. kind of almost wanted to say like, just tell it again. Awesome. Thank you guys for joining us on the podcast. was, it was super fun. Erica, anything before we wrap up? ⁓ we, ⁓ are going to head to the after show. ⁓ that's what we do for our support crew members. So we're going to continue the conversation. Tom and Adam are hanging around for that. So we're going to just get a little more relaxed and whatever in a, in a chill backstage kind of vibe. So we're going to do that. And anything else we're going do in the after show? Yeah. So if you've watched any of our little clips on Instagram or social media, you may have noticed that we have these little Disney Easter egg moments going on on our table here with our microphones. these are some like, random Disney artifacts that my dad has. And so we're going to start like featuring little things that maybe tie into the each episode. And so in the after show, we're going to talk about those a little bit more. and, ⁓ yeah, I'll just go ahead and tease. is a hippo in a tutu sitting here on the table, a little figurine and then, and then some other stuff. So we are, yes, we're going to talk about those in the after show, which has nothing to do with running. It's just fun. is why it's in the after show. That's right. So we're to head on to that. Thank you guys so much for joining us for this episode of One More Run and we will catch you next week for another episode of One More Run. I said One More Run twice. Yes you did.
