Sahil Laul: This thing is going to be insanity from head to toe. Light up grill, light up horns up top. It'll have all the way, everything down to a bubble machine. Yeah, my Batmobile is going to be my holy grail, you know? And I want to travel the world being a weird version of Batman. Tonight on Count's Culture, I have very special guests. We're gonna have some fun just hanging out with the boys ⁓ of Count's Customs. I got Horny Mike and I got Ghetto Bob hanging out with me. We're gonna have a great time tonight, so don't miss it. Welcome to a special bonus episode of Count's Culture. I'm Danny the Count Coker. By now you know what we're all about. Good vibes, better times, and the very best from the culture of cool. I probably don't say it enough. but there aren't harder working people in the business than the guys and girls at my shop counts customs. There are too many to name. I don't want to forget someone on the record, but two of your favorites from over the years, the ones with more public photo requests than Elvis, Horny Mike, and Ghetto Bob. What's up, gentlemen? And I use that term very loosely. He called us gentlemen. Can you believe he called us a gentleman? You shouldn't even use the term. What I meant to say was, how's it going, gentlemen and Mike? As it should be. I did not come up in a gentlemanly way. Any manners that I've learned throughout the years have come from you. I'm not sure if I should say thank you or So the little bit that I do have, it's your fault. Okay, I'll take credit for the good stuff. That sounds like he's been correctively criticizing you with the back of his hand. Oh, what, you haven't seen over the years Danny criticizing me? I've seen him criticize you and learn you gentlemen ways. And once it wasn't with the back of my hand, was with the open hand. anyways. What happened? It's fine. You both have been part of some great episodes these last couple of months, so you're no strangers to this hot seat over here. I don't think I've ever seen either of you this dressed up. Ghetto Bob's actually wearing pants. That's right. I got about this much too long of clothing right now. you're always that over the knee? No, right here. Right here at the knee. Did you borrow those from somebody? I didn't like this. No, no, I've had these in the closet. I keep them for weddings and funerals. You know, always got to be prepared in case you need something, you know. You got to be be prepared. What's your obsession? Well, I grew up in Texas. Okay. You know, it's hot, it's raining, it's Always humid, yeah. It's humid, know, especially south of Houston, you know. Yeah, right. I put shorts on and said that I never need to wear pants again. mean, your legs aren't that attractive, you know? Well, no, they're pretty attractive. I mean, I got good-looking legs, I that one with our tattoo on it, like me and Ryan's face, that is a beautiful It is. It is. is. Yeah. Yeah. I kind of like the syrup. I mean, I got a lot of good tattoos. I got a homeless guy. got, you know, random things. If you're going to get tattooed, you got to do something. that is ⁓ strictly special in You arguably have some of most unique eats in that. I know, I know. It's kind of a storytelling thing. It's my life. It's my life story in tattoos preserved on my body. It is a rarity though to see you in full drawers. It's pretty uncomfortable. I'm not gonna lie about it. It's pretty uncomfortable. It's just what the viewers know that Bob never, like this is a fight right here. This is fight. This is a serious business. This is special occasions only. Well, we feel special. Yes. What about you, Mike? What's your wildest tattoo? You don't have to show me. I don't even want to see anything. ⁓ It's a big huge monster airbrushing. It's the first airbrush that I ever used. I think I'd want to use the airbrush that I use nowadays, but no. I wanted to immortalize it on my chest that this is what I do, this is what I'm good at, and this is the airbrush I started with. I love it. But there's so much more that I haven't got finished. need to go visit the Dentist. ⁓ don't we all. Don't we all. I mean, I'm ready. Yeah. Don't twist my arm. I'm ready. I'm I'm Jones and I've got to finish this arm just to get it done, man. Because, you know, I've got some ink and I have my favorite is, of course, my Count's Customs cross on this arm, which, you know, that's been with me forever. But I got more to do. Why don't Bob have one of those yet? Why don't I have one of those? I'm going lie. this point... Why don't you have a picture of me on you? The show ended too quick, you I was still coming up. What's the show got to do with anything? Well, you know, I was gonna get like a picture of Bob, like center mass, you know. No, no, no. I think I need to be on the right cheek and Ryan's on the left. If you're gonna do it, do it right. But then you would be kissing in the middle. That's fine. Spread it apart. We're not kissing, let go. We're giving a big kiss. What's wrong with that? Oh, man. I think my girl's got a problem with that. This conversation is. What is your girl doing back there? Well, no, I'm just, never mind. Never mind, yeah. That's a quickness. This conversation's going south really fast. Beautiful tattoo, We do need to take a day and go down to the Rio, count status, and get some ink. I have really been jonesing to finish, because I don't want to do a lot. I don't want to finish. I've got all this that starts here on the neck, and it wraps over here, and it goes here, and I've got stuff down here. I just want to fill in the blanks, and I'm going to leave this one alone. You want pictures of all of your counties. On the next one of these, why don't we just get tattooed? Have three tattoo artists while we're talking. That's not a bad idea. They could come here and drill on us while we're I'm getting the numbing cream out. I'm not doing that live. No way, That is the thing, though. The older that I've gotten, because I didn't get tattooed for a while, and I recently got tattooed, I say recently, it was like two years ago. It hurts a whole lot more. It hurts way more. the older you get for some reason. numbing cream, dumb dumb. She used the numbing cream. Wow. Wow. See this one here hurt like the dickens, because the reason I did it was I crashed the tattoo shop years ago and all I was wearing was a tank top and as I was bouncing around on the pavement it ripped off most of the, as it broke everything in the shoulder it also ripped off most of the flesh. All that hamburger meat. Right, right. I remember you telling about them rubbing out the rocks. Well yeah they did, they put me in the, the burn unit at the emergency and they come and they scrub all of the gravel, all the grit, all everything off you. It's nuts. But so when all this healed up, it had that smooth look. so- new baby skin. That's why I did that big giant spider web that starts on the neck and goes all the way down here. it was interesting because even, was Twig, this tattoo artist, he was seven and a half hours drilling on there and my skin stood up 3D. from the way it was so hurt. But no numbing cream, no nothing like that. know, for me, and it's been a while, so I'm gonna run my mouth now like I'm a tough guy. For me, I kind of want to feel it. And then, know, the endorphins kick in and you kind of stop. It's good for about 30 minutes now. At our age, it's about 30 minutes. Do you really want something? It's been some years. you know. In the area. ⁓ What do you guys think about people that just like full on get put out? Like full on under anesthesia to get the big... Six artists going at him at once? Yeah, what do you think about that? Hey, I mean, listen, it's crazy, it looks cool as hell, they wake up in six hours and they've basically done a lifetime of tattoos in six hours. But what happens for the artist if part way through he's got a question? Does he just go with it? You're screwed, bro. Maybe that's predetermined. I don't know, I'm not in that price group. They can afford to be put out and have six people tattoo me at the same time. So I probably never know that feeling. That can't be good for you. No. Can't be good for you. Because you you do get like some flu-like symptoms afterwards. really, your body goes through a traumatic... So you have like six tattoo artists drilling on you at one time? Whole body? Yeah, can't be Acid all? No. I'm good. Thank you. No. I don't think so. There are few causes more important to me than camp freedom. Camp freedom isn't about what someone's lost. It's about what's still possible. We give disabled veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families something powerful. Time outdoors, shoulder to shoulder, fishing, hunting, riding, away from hospitals and stereotypes. Out here, it's not therapy, it's camaraderie. If you're looking to support something real, monthly giving, sponsoring land, or just learning more, Camp Freedom is changing lives one acre at a time. head to CampFreedomPA.org to show your support. All right, gents, you guys know we like to keep things fun and light here at the shop. So today, I thought I'd challenge you to with some of the favorite games that we usually reserve for the guests here on Count's Culture. The first one up is called Carstruck. Now, Mike, I want you to give me the moment when you were truly floored by a car that you stumbled upon in public. First time a car just absolutely knocked your socks off in public? Well, in public? Well, yeah. Well, I mean... Where are you going to see a car at, Mike? In your garage? Yeah, yeah, actually, you know... All right, so the one that knocked my socks off was because I was obviously very young. Went over to my uncle's house. I never knew he had this incredible car in the garage. old were you, number one? 63, Galaxy 500. That's how old you were, 63? No, I'm sorry. How old were you? I didn't hear you. How old were you? I was 14. 14, and it was a 63 Galaxy 500. Yeah, with the 500 cubicton motor sticking out the hood, I was like, why don't you ever drive it? But I mean, just to see this thing, this thing was just so pretty. That's a great car. And he still, to this day, doesn't drive it, doesn't touch it. He said, every time I take it out, it breaks something, so I don't drive it very often. Really? So would that ever be something you would ever want to have? Well, I'm not gonna lie, my uncle, or I'm sorry, my aunt. My aunt, she just told me many times, she's like, that's gonna be your inheritance. And you know, the only bad thing that I had for her was, is I was like, that's kinda mean. I mean, I like Jay. He's a good dude, he's always been good to me, he's been a good uncle. Why do you want me to want him to die all the time? That's right. Because he doesn't drive his car. I know he's not appreciate it. I was like, give it to me now and I'll show you what I'm going to do with it and you can enjoy it with me. All right. I don't want you to just be gone and I'm enjoying it. That sounds rude. Is it all in terrific shape? It's still in his garage, still sitting there. He just don't drive it. You don't drive it. No, he don't drive it. He's got two other Galaxy 500s that are absolutely top notch and I'm talking polished on the bottom. Yeah. ⁓ nice. Nice, I love those men, I love them. What about you, Ghetto? What was the first car to just absolutely get your attention? That's tough, ain't it? It is tough, it is really tough. I'd have to say, know, had, where I grew up, I had a neighbor down the street that used to build street rides in his car. He had a 32 coupe, ⁓ asked me to come and help him because he knew I was in the car audio, you know, and this was at 15. And ⁓ I saw the stuff that this man did in his garage and I was just amazed that just an ordinary average dude. could pull something like this off in his house. And it just drove me more and more to do the best. if this guy can do it, I can do it. And that's what we preach to lot of people these days is we're not anything special. We just want to do the best that you can do. And if you follow that motto, you can. Somebody's always gonna be better no matter what. Somebody's gonna be more creative. but just do the best that you can and it'll pay off. 32 Ford Coupe. 32 Ford Coupe. And to me that is, if you could open up the dictionary and look up Hot Rod, picture of a 32 Ford Coupe should be that. It's the pinnacle of was chopped, suicide doors. Love it, love it, love Even though it was yellow. Yeah. Even though I hate yellow, think yellow's the worst car Very American graffiti then. It was very American graffiti vibe, yeah. But it was, you know, early. early or late 80s with the Hot Hughes paint job. It was it. It was that time. We look at it now, it's like, hey, that was built in the 90s, in the late 80s, early 90s, ⁓ that was cutting edge technology. That was the new trend. If I look back for me, I remember my Uncle Peter in Detroit. He worked for Ford Motor Company and he was an executive of Ford Motor Company. So he was the one at the time that was doing good in the family, you know? So he had a few toys and ⁓ I remember Uncle Peter's house, had, I don't remember how, I was a little kid and he had a, if I had to guess, it was probably a 69 charger, but it was purple. And ⁓ it was really cool. I just remember that as a kid, that that got my attention. But I'm so fortunate the one that set me on the path is sitting over there in the showroom. And that was ⁓ Dad's 66 Mustang, now all GT350'd out in the whole pit. ⁓ He brought that home when I was nine years old. And he held onto it his entire life and now I have it. But that one, that made such a big impression on me and that's why every day it sits right there in the front. I still get to look at it and see it. I was so confused throughout, we did Counting Cars, we did all that time. I was like, why in the hell did we not do your first car that is still sitting there on My Z28? Yeah, mean, why did we not We're going to. We're going to, I still, I do, I still have my first car, 79 T28, and that was the first car that I customized. Super wide. Yeah, it was 17 years old, and did the whole big wide body fender flares, whale tail, L88 hood, it's got a big block, 496, nitrous, all this kind of stuff in it. 17 years old when I did that car. Why did we never And I still have it. You know, it's just been sitting forever now. We're ready to. Yeah. It always spooked me. was like, I feel like that would be the golden episode to do Danny's first car. Yeah, exactly. All right, I don't want to do this, but I'm looking at the producers right now and, you know, secretly giving them the finger over there. But anyways, Ask Me Anything. ⁓ dear Lord, I really don't want to do this. Sean, I owe you. Ask Me Anything is a segment I do with all my guests to let them in the audience get to know me a little bit better. So this is your one shot. put me in a hot seat. You can ask me something about cars, music, the shop, Vegas, whatever. And I'm gonna do my best to not dodge this, but I also will not promise that I'm gonna answer it and I will not promise that I'm not gonna fire Mike over anything. So. So sounds like I'm safe. Well, cause I know. But here's the thing, I spend so much time with you every day. like, I know everything. Right. Unless you're hiding something secret at home that we don't know about that you want to let out to us, but... That's a tough one. That's tough. I'm not gonna lie. You guys have been with me for a hundred years. Yeah, I've never sat around and thought about how... What would I want to know about What would I want to know about Danny? Because I probably know too much. I probably know more than you want me to. I think we both know more than we want. Trust me, I know more than I want to. Yeah, I mean, you, you gotta have to go first there, Bobby. I'm gonna have to to use my ticker for this one. All right. That's a tough one. Huh? It is a tough one, is an extremely tough question. Well, I can answer that question then. Next. That's how he gets around it. I really, I got one. Oh boy. Why do you hate air suspension so much? Oh, thank you for asking. I know the answer, but I'm gonna go ahead and ask it either way. For me, at least my experience with air ride suspensions. From the early 90s. Right, exactly. When it was dinosaur and it was completely wrecked. I tried it, I tried it. I gave it a shot, I gave it a shot. Here's what I like about it. They never sit level. It's always crooked one way or the other. Wish they fixed that. Yeah, well when you try to get on your ride height or whatever, your alignment is always off. mean, you can't have a proper alignment on a car that sits at 14 different levels. It's never correct. ⁓ I don't like the way they ride. I don't like the way they sit. I don't like the way that they align. I don't like any of it, man. I'm a guy that really likes to drive. I'm a guy that likes to drive. So, you know, and then to me, I don't trust him. I don't trust it. And it's gonna let me down somewhere. You know, I'm gonna hit a bump, now I'm sitting on the side of the road, laying on my frame. I get it. I do, get it. You you go to a car show or whatever like that, and there's, you know, a wicked looking Cadillac just laying on the ground. That's a cool look. It looks great on a poster. That's about it. For me, I like to drive my cars. That's good stuff. I got one. All right. When I came out with my beef jerky and my beef jerky shirts. Sean, thank you. Thank you for making us do this. When I came out with my beef jerky and my beef jerky shirts, why wouldn't you sell them in the store? Really? I'm going to have a drink right now because I don't even want to listen. I'm in the middle. Right, I'm going to refrain from answering this question. And comedically enough, you already know the answer. I do, but you know, I mean, on the talk show, we gotta You were supposed to ask me something you don't know, and you already know. And yeah, man, you know, your slogans just don't fit. What's it the? Don't, don't, don't. We don't need to, man. We don't need to. Figured everybody else would want to know that. They're like, ⁓ my God, why doesn't stuff All they gotta do is see the t-shirt and they know. They know me and they know he ain't gonna want that in his store. All right, all right. On to the next thing. They say some people look like their dogs. I say some people look like their cars. Horny Mike and Ghetto Bob, I'm about to pin a set of wheels to your personalities. Harder than a set of headers on a big block. I'm gonna tell you. what car I think you are, and you're gonna tell me why I'm either dead on or I'm completely lost. So let's see if your spirit car has more guts than you. Ghetto Bob, your spirit car. to me. is either a 1960 or 61 Cadillac with air ride. And? And big wheels. And? Almost no profile tires, O-rings. ⁓ Maybe, maybe it's a full-on Roadster. Yeah? You know, cut off roof. Only because I've had so many of those over the decades. It is so you. that when I think of you, if I had to say you were a car, that would be what it is. And it's so inside of your spirit, so that would be your spirit car. Am I dead on or am I wrong? You're pretty much on. It's just the holy grail now. Now I can't afford it. I've let them all go over the years. Don't forget the candy paint, because it's got to be candy paint. ⁓ bro, it's got to be candy, and there has to be, under the clear coat, there's got to be a hundred dollar bill somewhere. Somewhere. Under the clear coat. And of course, massive stereo system. Oh yeah, that's guaranteed. Well that's why he's got to cut the roof off because he's got to take enough weight off to carry all the Correct. There is no backseat, it's all speakers. That's right. It's it's supposed to be. Custom shop, not a stock shop. It's a big car with a big man seat so we can still ride 3D. And? The trunk. You don't have to worry about the backseat, you can still the trunk. The trunk's real big. You're not taking any loggers. Still throw the hookers in there? No, no, Isn't that they said about the caddies though? I mean, if you're pimpin', then you got four doors. All right, Morning Mike. Oh, well you kind of know this one though. I mean, you know. No, I got another one in my head, I got another one in my head and I don't think you're gonna know what I'm talking about. Probably not. I really don't think you're gonna know what I'm talking about. Ghetto, you might know what I'm talking about, but I don't even know if you're gonna know what I'm talking about. Johnny Cash did a song 100 years ago called One Piece at a Time. and it was about stealing a car off the assembly line one piece at a time, over years. So by the time it was assembled, it was pieces of everything from everywhere that was just insane. And somebody, and I don't know if it was the record company for Johnny or if it was something independent, but somebody... Actually built the car as described in the song and it's the one piece of one piece at a time Car and it is arguably the most Confused vehicle. I think I've ever seen in my entire life and right now as I look at you That's what I'm seeing man. I think I think they call those art cars now I don't know the one you're talking about when the song but I know I've seen art car you got you got to look it up somewhere there was a Poster a photo a picture or something like that I think Johnny Cash might have been in it in in the picture with it But it was it was the one piece at a time car that was that was like a tribute built For that song and and and as I'm sitting here thinking about this. That's what I'm seeing with you I don't know what you I don't know, know what it looks like and everything like that But you know what you're saying as far as you know how I do it kind of ⁓ that's kind of how it is I don't really know what I'm gonna build when I start building it. ⁓ But I'm gonna get it one piece at a time, and I'm gonna get it there. I don't know when, I don't know how, I know where the money's coming from, but I'm gonna make it happen. I might not be off. All right, it's mine. You guys tell me what my spare car is. It's a Cobra. That's a very good call. It's just a old 427 big black Cobra. Yep, you're right. 66 427 AC Cobra. That's it. Right, it has one purpose. That's right. I would have said Cadillac no matter what because you know, you him so much. You got so many of That's my other spirit car is Cadillac. You got married in one. Absolutely. would have said Cadillac. Or maybe a cop car. Because he has crossed over. I know dude. Into the cop car. I used to want to do a cop car so bad. Bro, you'll never regret it. I ain't kidding you. Okay, what they're talking about, I lost my mind. just because the traffic here in Vegas can be so out of control. And driving my Corvette, I got a C6 Vet, silver, on the ground, wide body carbon fiber, and I tell people apparently it's invisible in traffic with the height and the color. and I'm driving to the shop one day, almost getting three accidents because people can't see me. The car's invisible, I don't know. And I got to the shop, lost my mind, run in my mouth, and I need a piece of junk I can drive back and forth to work every day ⁓ in this traffic here in Vegas that I don't care about, you know? And Jay Laporta in our fab shop ⁓ had friends at the police department and he scored ⁓ a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria police interceptor. ⁓ Detective unit so it wasn't cut up inside no cage ⁓ paint falling off of it interior horrible, but low miles for this which means it was under under a hundred thousand miles and ⁓ and properly maintained and ⁓ I Started driving that car back and forth to work And I'll tell you it does everything right it does everything right so I started digging on it next thing you know I'm looking things up I'm finding there's a bunch of weirdos like me that love these cars. I drank the Kool-Aid and I started stepping into that wormhole of fixing up. Oh, I remember. We were touching it up. Right, right. Oh, because when I first got it, said, I'm never even washing this car. That was literally, I said, I'm not even washing it. Now... I think it was about a week. You said, let's go ahead and paint this real quick. Right, yeah. So now it has a very nice- And then drive it. And then wouldn't drive it. Remember he said it was fixed and then- He said nothing special. Nothing special. I just wanted, you know, just paint black, don't care. Nothing special. Right. And then, you know, they were over there buffing. It has a beautiful black paint job on it now. I've got a Marauder spoiler on the trunk. I got a Cobra chin spoiler underneath. It's got coilover suspension on all four corners. It's got drill- billet trailing arms in the rear, it's got a billet watts link set up in the back, it's got the cop wheels in the back, or widened out to nine and a halfs. But I think your point was, is I remember following you. Yeah. I remember following you, and it was absolutely amazing to watch people just, yeah, I'm gonna get out of the way. Oh yeah. I'm gonna get out of the way. We were rolling up to the speedway one day, and everybody was in the way. You were driving your Challenger, and everybody's sitting in the passing lane, and they ain't passing, they're just in the way. I'm like, I'm waving at you, I got this mic, one around you. Getting a pass, everybody move over. Everybody move over, because it's still got the crash bar. I got a police escort. It's a total hot rod Crown Vic now that I absolutely love. I absolutely love. But yeah, the Cobra, yes. The Cadillac, yes. I mean, we could go on all day I know. See, I'm an addict. I mean you got one here, you got one here. is a favorite. got 60 of them over here. You got problems. I know, I do. I do. do. It's bad. Alright, I got something else for you guys. I want to serve you up a dream road trip challenge. If you could only make one road trip for the rest of your life, what would it be? And I want you to pick the car, pick the destination, pick the soundtrack, the music. What's it look like? Who wants to go first, I mean, listen, everything's always going to be about me finishing my ultimate holy grail dream car. you know, that is your Batmobile. Yeah, my Batmobile is going to be my holy grail. Yeah. And I do. I want to see that thing hit shows all over the place. I want to go to Comic Cons. I want to go everywhere. I want to I want to travel the world being a weird version of Batman. It's gonna be a little different. It's gonna be a little different, you know? I would expect nothing less. So the road trip would be the car show circuit? Absolutely. Absolutely. Hitting all the car show circuit. Just absolutely showing that bad boy off and living the life of creating an amazing vehicle like that and making myself a superhero. Do I get to be a superhero? Hell yeah. Oh yeah. And I got something, like I'm do a little video, you know, because there's always gonna be someone go, hey man, can I get a ride? Hell yeah, you can get a ride. But it's gotta wear the suit. The suit's gonna be very tiny, very stretchy, little cape. Can we make it in shorts, Absolutely, absolutely. That's great. Ghetto, what about you? I'd say, just any big body Cadillac that was convertible. And I'd go here and I'd go to the Keys. And then I'd go fishing and drive back. Stop wherever, whenever, you know, something just, no plan, no itinerary. If I stop today, I stop today. If I drive for three days straight, I drive for three days straight. Just enjoying being out. In the summertime, of course. Ironically enough, you and I are on the same path. I love that. I love old school. big body Cadillac convertible and no particular, like the song, no particular place to go. Doesn't matter if it's a 60, doesn't matter if it's a 67, wouldn't even matter if it was a 74. Right, right. As long as it's convertible. Right, and someplace coastal. just cruise. Right, someplace coastal. Just to end up in the water, just to end up in the Keys, on the islands and just enjoy my time when I got there. What kind of music, you guys? What do you got, on your road trip as far as music? It's a theme song. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Over and over and over and over and over That's all you can do. You have to ride some stuff. Two hands like a crackhead just going for it. Now remember, I forgot, you know, I wouldn't really explain this to anybody I mean this car is now taking an 89 version Batmobile, right? Turning it into what looks like a huge monstrous bat stretching it all over the entire car 24 foot six inches long, nine foot six inches tall with a 16 foot wing. With two four and a half foot skulls stacked on each wing in the back. This thing is going to be insanity from head to toe.
