Find Yourself: Welcome back to Unfiltered Faith. I'm Joe Watson, and it's time to breathe. Time to slow down. Time to let your shoulders drop and time to step into the sanctuary. Not the sanctuary we're all so familiar with, but the one that God is building inside you. Family, this is the space where honesty becomes healing. And God meets us right in the middle of our unraveling. Today, we're stepping into a conversation that so many people live through quietly. Because somewhere between showing up for everyone else, carrying what isn't yours, and becoming who people need it, you can wake up one day and realize. You don't know who you are anymore. Not the version people applaud, not the version people expect, not the version people depend on, but you. The one God formed, the one he knows, the one he's calling back home. And today's letter speaks directly to that age. Before we go any further, I want to read this listener's letter. And as I read it, I want you to breathe. Let the words settle, because this is someone's real heart, and it might be yours too. Here's the letter. Dear Joe, how do you find yourself again in the After spending years becoming who everyone else needed you to be, at some point you get so good at being everything for everyone that you forget who you are when nobody needs anything from you. I know how to show up for people. I know how to be strong, but I'm starting to wonder who I am when I stop. Performing, pleasing, and serving. How do you find your way back to yourself when you're not even sure where you left yourself behind? Signed Trying to Find Myself. Dear Trying to Find Myself, thank you for this letter, and thank you for naming something that so many people feel but rarely. admit. Let me start with this truth. You didn't lose yourself. You abandoned yourself to survive. And now God is calling you back to you. Scripture says, I will restore to you the years that the locust have eaten. Joel chapter two, verse twenty five. That means God is not just restoring your joy, He's restoring your identity. You ask, how do you find yourself again after becoming who everyone else needed you to be? Here's the truth. You don't find yourself by trying harder, you find yourself by stopping, stopping the performing, stopping. The pleasing, stopping the survival mode that taught you your worth was tied to usefulness. You find yourself by remembering that God knew you before anyone needed anything from you. Jeremiah chapter one, verse five says, Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Your identity didn't begin with people, so it cannot be restored by people. You also ask, Who am I when I stop performing, pleasing, and surviving? You are who God says you are, not who life shaped you into, not who trauma trained you to be, not who people demanded you become. You are God's daughter. You are chosen. You are loved, and you are enough without effort. And hear me: finding yourself is not a destination, it's a return. A return to rest. A return to authenticity. A return to the voice of God over the voices of people. A return to the version of you that existed before exhaustion became your personality. You said you're not sure where you left yourself behind. Most people leave themselves behind at the moment they decided being needed was safer than being known. But God is calling you back to being known. To everyone listening, some of you have mastered being strong, dependable, capable, and available. But you've forgotten how to be you. Some of you have become experts at showing up for others, but strangers to your own soul. And some of you have confused identity with responsibility. But hear me. God is not asking you to be everything for everyone. He is asking you to be who He created, not who life demanded. Matthew chapter 11, verse 28 says, Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Rest is where identity is restored. Rest is where clarity returns. Rest is where God reintroduces you to yourself. You are allowed to stop performing. You are allowed to stop carrying everything. You are allowed to stop being the version of you that exhaustion created. And you are allowed to come home to yourself. I want to stop right here and pray for this listener. But I want to also pray for someone listening today who has lost themselves in the doing. Father, for every listener who has lost themselves in responsibility. Expectation or survival. Breathe identity back into them. Remind them of who they were before life demanded so much. Restore their joy. Restore their voice. Restore their softness and restore their authenticity. Teach them how to rest in you. And rediscover the parts of themselves they abandon. Let them feel seen, known, and loved, not for what they do, but for who they are. Amen. Let me say this to someone today. You are coming back to yourself. God is peeling off the layers of performance. Pressure and perfection. Your identity is being restored. Your voice is returning. Your joy is awakening. You will not live as a version of yourself shaped by survival. You will rise as the version God originally designed, whole, grounded, and free. Family, thank you for sitting in this sacred conversation with me. If you've ever felt lost inside the life you built for others, hear me. You are not too far gone to be found. You are not too buried to be uncovered. You are not too changed to be restored. God is calling you back to you. And if you're listening today and you have never given your life to Christ, or maybe you walked away, or maybe you're curious but unsure, I want you to know this. God hears you even now, and He wants you. He wants your heart, your questions, your doubt, and He wants your journey. So if you're ready to trust him and to make him Lord over your life, pray this with me. Lord Jesus, I open my heart to you. I believe you are the Son of God. I believe you died and rose for me. Forgive me, save me, and make me yours. Teach me to hear you and To trust you and to walk with you. Amen. If you prayed that prayer, welcome home. And if you're looking for a church where you can grow, learn, and ask questions, find a Bible teaching Christ centered community near you. Because you don't have to walk this journey alone. Family, God hears you. He has always Always heard you, and he will continue to hear you as you grow, seek, and deepen your relationship with him. So stay anchored, stay prayerful, and stay expectant.
