Quantum Dispatch: Hello everyone and welcome back to the Quantum Dispatch Podcast. It is episode 12 and it's a bit of a special one today because there's a ship that we have been waiting for for quite a long time finally been revealed to us and the questions answered. But before we get into all of that tonight, it is myself, GFA Plays, and the wonderful One Dark Enigma. The other two boys are off doing things, so they will not be here this evening. But before we get into the I've called this by the way the Gia Attack. railing for the for the yeah. ⁓ how are you doing, buddy? I'm I'm good, buddy. I'm good. I'm fresh back from Bar Citizen Manchester and to be fair to CIG they they blew it out of the park with this one. So yeah, they're really, really good bar citizen. There were so many people. I walked in I like, is this is this all for bar I know the bar is closed, but is it closed? Like there is so many pe it was heaving and there was like spots just people around and the people like him tapping on the shoulders like hello mate you're right it's like ⁓ my gosh there were there were a few people missing so I'll reach out to them in due course and be hey where where were you? You should have been there. But no it was a really really good ⁓ and there were ships giving away ⁓ some absolute controversy there. I know that still be someone popping into chat at some point to to poke fun but they asked the question. I got the answer right and the Asgard was also so close to being mine and they went name them. It was like how many flavours can can the the ⁓ can the vandal taste or something? I was like nine and like name them. I was like I can't name all of them, but I got the answer right and then someone else put their hand up and they named three and they was like, Okay, he the Asgard is yours I was like What? No way ⁓ So yeah, some controversy but you know, it's not fun without a bit of controversy now, is it? But I did manage to win the Scorpius, so all good. But yes, I was robbed. I was gonna say that that seems harsh. It was a little bit harsh. That seems really harsh. But yeah. Fair enough though. I mean look all good. He was gonna say it it is what it is. Yeah, that's a shame. I would I think I would have also been quite upset in that situation. I think I would have felt like I deserved that sh. I mean, I didn't even know they had nine flavours. I I hadn't I I didn't I would I mean for what it's worth I would have got zero out of zero for that. Yeah. Spike hang on Spikes are y in chat are you the guy? Is it you? I know the guy was like I'm gonna pop into this ⁓ into your chat and and harangue you. Scorpius is better than the Asgard. Asgard's more expensive. I actually like the Asgard as well. I've had the As not like the Scorpius. It's not that I d I'm not here to kiss and tell, right? But like I've had the Scorpius before and ⁓ yeah. It's it's a good ship, but I just never found myself taking it out that much. Fair enough. Let's move on to the Raylan though. Will I be taking that out? That's the question. Yes, very good point. Well, our plan this evening is to watch the behind the ships for the ⁓ for the Raylan and just sort of break it down. We'll try not to pause it constantly, we w obviously we will have to pause it to talk about it in moments that such is life with this kind of thing. But ⁓ yeah, we'll try not to to hang on too long and annoy everyone ⁓ that hasn't seen the video. But I'm assuming at this point most people have seen the video. So let me share my screen. Where are we? Share Sounds like a boomer. ⁓ well, ⁓ well the fact that I didn't even see that button that said share audio for all this time. So every time we've shared anything on this stream, we haven't had audio. Anyway. Alright. So here we go. Behind the behind the scenes for the Gatak railing. ⁓ if you want to pause it, I guess just raise your hand and I'll pause it. And if I want to pause it, I'll just pause it. Okay. Or just or just say, Hey, pause it and I'll stop it. What if I don't want you to pause it? Then I won't pause it. Unless I want to pause it for whatever reason. And of course anyone on Spotify. ⁓ obviously there is video on Spotify, so feel free to watch this bit, but we'll you will have audio there as well. So hopefully you can follow along. Okay, here we go. Let me know about volumes you're in. Pause it. ⁓ my god, it's such a beautiful ship. And pause. Gatak Raylan is an alien speed of loading and unloading cargo by having it all on the exterior. Love that by the way. Is our first dedicated cargo hauler from an alien race and this is an important moment in that a lot of our other alien ships are combat focused. I love I sorry that that shot it's such a it is such a unique silhouette. I know we have the Sulin which is is similar but the the two arms with the pods coming out the turrets Mm. And there's the rings around it are they're there's such a nice touch with the lights going around the rings. And then yeah, the the external cargo. What did you expect external cargo being the thing? I did think it was gonna be a thing, but the what they've done is the whole like covering of it. I was like, That's yeah, that's really nice. That's nice aesthetic. But looking at it from this angle, I'm seeing blind spots for the the turrets. Yeah, I mean directly behind close. It's definitely the right sort of space for ⁓ a Drake Gullum to get in the mix A CJ. Well, I d it depends how much they swivel, 'cause at the moment they're facing directly outwards. If it's like the ball turrets on the car ⁓ the carrick, it will swivel. So maybe it will swivel all the way round. 'Cause I can see through the glass, which w would insinuate it can go all the way round. So you'd have to be right up the booty to be able to to be able to, yeah. Anyway. Let's proceed. Alien ships are combat focused. Just like us, they also need an entire suite of ships to be able to fulfil what they do every day in their lives. One of the things that we really wanted to push with our alien ships is just that distinction from kind of human manufacturing techniques and alien manufacturing techniques. We kind of developed this idea that they had this really kind of advanced systems that would allow them to be able to almost kind of grow their ships in the shapes that they wanted. So things like the really big armored plates that are on the front of the ship. You're right. Should we deposit? No, it's just CJ in chat saying engines look sick. I didn't see that. The Indians They do look sick. They're naturally mined materials rather than having to kind of go in and extract these materials and then refine them and refine them and refine them. I had to stop thinking like human and start thinking like Xion. How would an alien I love how you've got ⁓ the the definition of the lighting is cause the way the the engine the engine is shaped. You have the blue on the front side, but then you've got that red glow on the back. It's just a lovely contrast of colour roll off there. They've done a really good job of it. Like it's probably the closest mm, closest to con concept. Like I don't think much has changed. Obviously the cargo has had to change, which we knew was going to happen way before because there's there's no way they were going to keep it triangles, because that would have been so stupid. So you to have like bespoke cargo things for it would have been so dumb. So I'm glad they've done this. This seems like the the best the best step forward to put to do the cargo this way. But other than that, like it looks exactly how I was expecting it to look from the concept images, which is quite cool. Usually there's some stuff that disappears. Like I still I think the carrier still doesn't have its antennas and stuff like that. There's loads of stuff that's missing. I mean the carrick looks completely different from the concept. The neutral concept, yeah. Yeah. So I did think originally we were gonna lose because obviously the the the two upper fins fold back and then the two lower fins fold up, don't they, for like landing. Yeah. ⁓ I thought we were gonna lose that part of it with the lower fins. ⁓ yeah. Opting for more of a Sulan style approach, but yeah, really happy that they've kept that in. And one of the things I was thinking just a minute ago watching this with the external cargo is more like, you know, where lobsters and like spiders, they have their their egg clusters that they keep it close, don't they? It's kind of like a little bit like that. Yeah. I don't know what that was. Some random advert. Sorry. I was opening on the I was I was booting up Twitch on a different ⁓ on my other screen and then I just got the advert. ⁓ but yeah, so sponsored by Head and Shoulders. Yeah, that guy. I haven't had to use I've I'm literally just head and shoulders. I haven't had to use any shampoo in about ten years. Just shoulders. Just should shoulders. Nothing but shoulders. Right anyway. Design shapes, movement, and technology. With the Xi An specifically, they have a lot of control over how they can ⁓ manipulate different structure. Sorry to pause it again, chat, I know this is annoying. How do you feel about the floating stuff? Me or chat? You ⁓ do you know what I'm I'm not on I'm not on the board with that one. I s it's ⁓ yeah. For me it's like the mystical world of Harry Potter but ships and like the small details on the ship all being like levitated, it's just yeah, it's doesn't compute with my brain. It's like, ⁓ that's a very gimmick style of thing. Also, thank you Tidal Lord for two months. Of subscription. Yeah. Keep us going, baby. Keep us going, mate. ⁓ I completely agree. ⁓ thank you, Tidal Lord. But also I completely agree with I don't like the floaty. I don't like floaters on my ship. I don't that's a Drake ship. It's where in the I'm pretty sure when I watched it the first time there's like the drop down, it's like yeah, we got on. And it's like flying with the downs, like Yeah. But it but even this as well, like I get that it's alien technology. Fully understand why it's there. I'm not complaining that ⁓ it's un it's unrealistic. Like it's not from that standpoint. Just aesthetically, like seeing it. I like seeing mechanical parts and moving parts. I don't like seeing stuff floating because it it takes it out of ⁓ the I d I guess the realms of possibility for me. But also as you say, it's too Harry Pottery. I don't know. I just like seeing things do things and I don't like floating objects that I mean, floating inside the ship. I'm okay with that because it kind of makes more sense than floating outside the ship, in my opinion. Because imagine if you're flying at fifteen hundred metres per second and then these little magnetic grav whatever whatever technology they're using just pop off to slide along. I feel like that is if they're if you're in Atmo, they should be going phew, they should just be pinging off because they're disconnected, even though they're do you know what if they see what I mean? Because they're completely they're hitting wind resistance, surely. It'd be pretty cool to see it like if The ship was starting to take damage. These were the bits that would start like either vibrating and then falling off completely, ⁓ just being left behind. Things certain things like where there's the door is ⁓ there is no door because like that. Yeah, well, I'm gonna put this in slow motion for us just so we can see it. It's preposterous to me. Yeah, I don't like it. Like I I love ⁓ I love this ship. I I I think it looks amazing. I cannot wait for it. But these moments where it It does these like these f these floaty pop out set I just don't like it, man. And I I guess I said I understand why it's there and I'm not I'm not saying that they shouldn't have done it like it's design the ship how they want to design it. They're the chip. Just their own, isn't it? Different strokes for different blokes. It's yeah. I'm just not a fan of it. As much as I own one of these and I'm definitely gonna be keeping it as my main cargo ship, I think. But the animation is still pretty sick. ⁓ it looks amazing. It just I just don't like I like all of that, these floating just not for me. Cause you're in is there an invisible force field around the whole ship that's stopping any air resistance? Other magnets or whatever. I guess it's not magnetic technology, it's some sort of new technology, but alien tech. But yeah, I don't know, it just it just feels a bit too weird for me personally. But anyway, I digress. I'm glad we're on the same page that I was worried you're gonna yeah, it's it has this really distinct state change between its flight silhouette and its landed silhouette. The original concept had triangular cargo containers themselves holding the cargo inside, but now during production we've changed that to use standardised cargo grids. That means you are not constrained by any of the mission types that you would have had before, having to manually load all these cargo units into custom cargo containers. Now you can just turn up the It supports up to thirty two SCU containers, so you can just load them on easily, offload them easily. We have two size two tractor turrets that sit on the bottom wings. Two rear bridge seats each control one of these turrets and can use them to add and remove cargo from the cargo grid as they like. The turrets move with the wings. You have an okay view when the wings are deployed, so when you're flying around in space. But when your wings are in the landed position you have a really, really good view over the cargo grid. Some very useful tractor beams again finally. The shields themselves are a physical barrier that stops projectiles from hitting the cargo themselves. Obviously, having it deployed makes the cargo very hard to take off, but offers that protection. This essentially makes a sort of hybrid interior-exterior cargo ship. You get the benefits of both systems. You have the ease of loading of exterior cargo. as well as the protection of interior cargo. Yeah. They cook to that. They cook to the cargo system. That looks really good. It it it just does everything that we need it to do. I love external cargo on the raft. I think that is the biggest selling point of the raft for me personally when I'm trying to run cargo missions. The fact that I don't have to faff around with internal cargo space. ⁓ I get the whole piracy thing and all that jazz. Like I get, but that's why this is really good that it has protected shields over the cargo. ⁓ to get around that but yeah, the The raft is so user friendly 'cause you can touch down and you can just drag stuff on on and off with a tractor beam with an atlas or with your hand tool. And it's just so easy. You don't you're not hitting into every object obstacle trying to get things off. The only downside is if you've stacked it with like if you're doing a chain of cargo missions and you you have to really think about where you put stuff, because if you have to get the stuff off for your first mission and you put that right on the bottom of the cargo grid, you've got to then detach everything above it. Or beneath it technically, ⁓ to get to what you need. So that's the only downside to it is you do have to then get around you have to basically you have to stack stuff in a in a smart way. It makes you think twice about how you're stacking your cargo grid, which which is good. You should do that anyway. But yeah. I yeah. I hope they eventually add detach all where you can just switch the cargo grid off. So like I'm at I assume it's like a gravity. grid the cargo grid technically, like it's clamping onto the metal of the cargo container and that's how it attaches. It'd be great if there was a way you could like if you could actually power your cargo grid and you could go doop and turn the power off and all your cargo just attaches. So you could just like dump the whole lot onto a freight elevator would be really good. I think. It'd also be really cool if that was a component you could knock out. Like you're shooting a ship and you knock out their cargo grid and everything just f goes flying everywhere. It would be really cool. Yeah. Pirates can come in at that point and stake it all. That'd be really good. That'd be sick. Ready to continue? Yes, sir. That's huge. On the railing you can enter the ship one of two ways. So if the ship is landed, you enter through a lift at the very bottom. And if you are in flight or you're in space, you have a docking collar on the top rear. Sorry, and the whole th this is a podcast where we're talking about things. I d I know we don't want to keep pausing it, but I don't like this at all. that seems like a nightmare. And that's nightmare nightmare fuel. If you if you land slightly pointing forward, you're never getting on that ship. 'Cause that lift will not come down far enough. Like how does it know when to stop? 'Cause it's just gonna have a set distance. I'm sure this is something that they're gonna think about is like ground proximity and say, hey, this is how far the ramp's gonna come down, this is how far we're gonna send this magnetic thing down, or in the say the six hundreds series that they've got the lift shaft that comes down, stuff like that. It's gonna be something they're gonna have to look at. But yeah. If it's just a set position that's in reference to the ship. Every time, which I'm assuming it will be, because it'd be really hard to build around that. If you don't land flat, you're screwed. Like it's not even a question. And if you land too far that way, is is the elevator gonna sink into the floor? Like if you land on a hill? No, the elevator's gonna push the ship up. It's just how so it's gonna be like as if it is actually attached. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, because it'll be an invisible connection moment, so technically it will be part of the ship. for for from a development standpoint, it's not a separate entity coming out of it. So yeah, you're right, it will just ping it. It's the same argument for with elevators and ramps. It it is it is and it isn't. I think with well from the way that Pete has just described it, where it's all actually still connected, it will just p push the ship up. Yes, it absolutely is. But from a visual standpoint it being disconnected operates in a different way because then there's no structural connection to To push the ship up and down. So my worry was if it is a separate entity, will the lift just float into the ground or etc. But yeah. Yeah, I guess it's gonna be treated exactly the same as everything else. So we'll see. Still don't like it. And if you are in flight or you're in space, you have a dock and collar on the top rear. The elevator shaft is a really nice like central part of the whole ship. Is the first thing you see as you walk in and it leads you through every floor. So dark in here. A lot of our human ships tend to be quite black, quite long, whereas what we've tried to develop is this idea that the aliens prefer a little bit more kind of verticality to their ship. The middle floor of the ship is all habitation. The habs are very strange when you first walk in. You kind of have a big bank of these pods. That feel quite strange and different to the kind of habitations you might be used to in a a typical human ship. But at the same time it's it's incredibly cozy in there. You can Uncle Milk ⁓ Malky says if we look at the docking collar opening you get ⁓ it does look like a sneak peek of the Raylan docking collar outside. ⁓ from the sneak peek, ⁓ I think. ⁓ right, yeah, got ya. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kind of have to crawl into the space. You have all this really nice stonework that covers the bed. We carry on this same sort of motif of these ribbons that sort of run around every part of the ship, which you can imagine is kind of carrying the energy and the power from the engineering and powering all these rooms. Go back a second. What was that? The fake waterfall? At the bottom. No. What here? Go back more. And play from part of the ship, which you can imagine is kind of carrying. Stop now. Is that like a fish tank? Yeah, but it looks like it's a reflection. I think it might be above, because the fish are upside down. Okay. I think that's up here, maybe. Because they look I don't know. Yeah, it's weird. It's very cool. It's so dark though, dude. Like I wanna see the difference. But ⁓ surely you want to show the ship in the the best of the light? I think it was probably a mistake. I think they probably did it. And then they when everyone's saying it's really dark, they're like, ⁓ shit, actually it was in auxiliary mode. But I I think it was just an accident. We will fo soon find out. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. The energy and the power from the engineering and powering all these rooms. We try to make it ⁓ you know, look, there you go. Here. I think it is just an upside down there's one on this side as well. Mm. Really strange. It's like yeah, it looks like an upside down fish tank almost. This one's got like plants in it. And then you've got like this waterful thing. I mean it's it it's cool. There's nothing else to be really said about it. But it's cool. It's aesthetic. Yeah, I like it. It's different. It's different. But every ship feels very similar, I feel like half the time. So we try to make it feel quite relaxing, quite calm. So they've brought in these waterfalls that run down the sides of the walls in the mess area. On one side you've got the bathrooms, and on the opposite side you've got the food preparation area. As this is an alien ship, it caters to both the Gian and the humans. So for the humans you've got a chow line where you're able to get your food and your drink. Alongside the very specialist J'an food area. Are these the ones that eat poop? ⁓ these are the ones that eat poop or these are the ones that poop squares. I can't remember. These are the turtles, but they behave like birds. Then off to either side we have a small room that has a small bench and like a viewing out over the front of the ship. We've got the two escape pods on either side and also the turret access. Finally, if you take the elevator up to the top floor, it takes you straight into engineering. The engineering is really kind of imposing and it just feels very important. You can tell that there's like a lot of power running through this room. Your different component bays all around the room facing you, and they all open up with like the impressive Xian tech grav plating all moving out of the way. The alien ⁓ design comes in with quite how wide these component bays are. Like there's a lot of room that accommodates. More space needed to access them than just a slim little engineer who's who's making his way in. You also have these beams that are coming across the ceiling, and you can tell that there's power thrumming through like these ribbons that are coming from each of the component bays. It's a really, really interesting room, and it was a lot of fun to work on. As you go towards the front of the ship, you're into the bridge area. And this probably has one of the best views out of a lot of ships that we've done. This view is full of Floating on air. So that feels like it's totally alien, uncanny thing. When you enter the seat, they're rotating with a fancy flying animation. I hope that they feel really vow effect, because it's pretty different than the usual ships we have. Ooh, there's a you I think there's a little we got to see the HUD there a little bit, which I don't know if we've seen I just know the whole way through this sequence shows like I don't like that. Usual sheps. Me, yeah. It's just it's just so Harry Potter esque. It's too much. It's doing too much. I mean it's fine. It's down here, there's like a little Hadian HUD that pops up. Yeah, look whatever. It's it's power something can something 'cause it's just your power management. ⁓ but it looks like Predator. You know on the Predator ⁓ hoot that the there, there we go. Yeah. So I guess Exit turret pat so there's an exit that's weird. ⁓ it's up and down. But less than more than Two errors. Yeah. Why would you have exit to I know what you're yeah I get what you did what you're saying, but why why would you have exit up and left and right on more than exit. Ejects. Yeah. ⁓ cool though. Very interesting. Yeah, I just don't like all the flow and stuff, but it is what it is. It's not gonna ⁓ stop me using a ship. The cargo capacity of the ship lends itself to the vast majority of cargo machines, so it's great for cargo players. And it's not short in the firepower category either. It has great turrets and pilot control weapons as well as missiles. I think all the team did their job so fantastic. It looks cool, sharp, aggressive. Very happy with it. I really like the the overall aesthetic on the interior and the design is an interesting way to use this sort of tall three-story ship in still actually quite a small space. This ship is for someone that wants to go out with their friends, they don't mind taking on a bit of danger, and they want to look a little bit different, a little bit cooler. I wish that's what jumping into ⁓ quantum actually look like. Doctor Jacquiel, welcome back to the channel. Thank you so much for continuing your support. Eighteen months and climbing. Welcome. Right. I won't go back to a reconner. So they've sent I've I think it's sent a link and it's blocked out the link and I can't for some reason get into the mod settings to to see it, but it said this is Niku on the lighting. If you could like whisper that to us or send it over a Discord and then we can I'm not sure. ⁓ It's either going to be spectrum or tweet, isn't it? But yeah. So it's a beautiful ship and it's a ship that the community has been waiting for for so long. Wow, in the fact that they've doubled the SCU amount. So anyone that has one or has a C C to one, I can imagine there's gonna be a pretty hefty high price hike with that. Yeah, most almost certainly. ⁓ I I have two CCUs to it. one that I'm I'm banking on goes above the price of the what was it? Or just below the price of the prowler is what I would like to see. But I don't know I don't what do you think the price Ike will be? It's got be a like, mm so it's two twenty five currently on the store. Which is not is well, looking at the the current pricing for it. I reckon we could see this upwards of four hundred. How much is the Prowler? Prowler's ⁓ f C J would be able to beat me. Yeah, forty five. ⁓ four forty, yeah. Okay. Yeah. The utility three hundred. I would expect it to be about yeah. I would yeah, I think I think four hundred's probably quite a good guesstimate. ⁓ I think that's probably quite a good guesstimate, to be fair. I I would like to see Yeah. I'd like to see them w when w it's but it's coming out when's Alien Week? Is it the nineteenth? Is it next week? Next Friday? Or this Friday, sorry, I should say. I believe so. Yeah. So we're supposed to be getting it this Friday. I mean the servers and everything right now are not playable, so we will have to wait and see if it's ⁓ If it drops on Friday, but that is I think their planned Alien Week Day is this Friday. So we should hopefully see it. Well, you would like to think we'd see it in PTU, but there's no PTU if they're going live with Alien Week on Friday, so Yeah, we'll see what happens. I'm sure it will be fine. The ironclads we're we're fine. ⁓ Yeah, I think we've been whispered that thing you were talking about. I'm sending it to you right now. Okay, you can you can share your screen. ⁓ it's fine. I've send it to you. It's fine. Okay. You're good. So Reconner is the guy with the Asgard. ⁓ there we go. Beat him up, chat. Beat him up. It's to be fair to me, it's not his fault. He had his hand up as well, and they were just like, name some of them. But then come back to me and say, Can you name some more? Like it was just like, I was I just I can't name all of them, but I just know it's nine. They didn't say like break some of them down. Okay, so here we go. ⁓ on Reddit, the Star Citizen Reddit, ⁓ the interior lighting shown in the video is using the auxiliary lighting mode from Niku, who said the interior lighting shown in the video is using the using the auxiliary lighting mode. So it's intentionally quite dark. ⁓ I don't know if he's saying it's intentionally dark in the video or intentionally dark because it's auxiliary mode and that it should be dark. But I feel like I agree with you. Surely the content team would be like we want to show this off in on mode, not auxiliary mode where it's dark and you can't see much detail. So I feel like it was just an a a a mistake at the time of filming. It would be my guess. Yeah, you bring someone into your house when you're selling it, you don't turn off the lights and go feel your way around. Like Yeah, exactly. You you want to be like right, lights on, you know, you want to put make sure the lamps are everywhere is nice and everything. I I feel like they they should have been doing this with this video. No, I I I think it was a mistake. I don't think I I w I I doubt if it was a conscious choice it was a stupid one. I would I think it was more likely just to be an accident where they didn't change the lighting and they filmed the whole thing, edited it, and then when it was meant to review, they were Why is it dark? Now we don't have time to refilm it all kind of thing. That's that would be my that would be my guess. ⁓ yeah, they then Nika goes on to say the default lighting uses a different colour palette. And is noticeably brighter regarding that issue with the lighting state, we're aware. Cool. Yeah, nice. That's good. It's it's this it's the same in all the other ships, right? Like if you ⁓ if you run auxiliary power or emergency, it gets really dark. The ⁓ eight is dark when on the auxiliary, like it's just that's that's fine, that's what it's supposed to be. but yeah, ⁓ why would you not show it off in the best state or the most well lit? Doesn't make sense. But anyway, it looks cool. I like it. I would absolutely be keeping it. I think it would be my main cargo ship, to be honest. So you can see yourself like daily driving this. Yeah. Okay. For a cargo for a cargo ship of that kind of caliber that has more than 200 SEU, let's say. Yeah, that's what I think I'd take. I the the only thing that would come close to it is a hole B. I think the whole B for a similar cargo capacity, what's the whole B? Five hundred? I think. I know you're asking questions. I'll Google it quickly just so we know. ⁓ I think it I think it's five hundred. Five hundred and twelve. So and this is six hundred and forty, was it? Or six twenty? So we're we're talking a hundred or so SEU difference. So That's the kind of ship I'd put in the same calibre. Like the raft is great, but it's only 174 or whatever. So you're looking at you're looking at two ships that are of a similar nature. The whole B's the only one that comes into that similar bracket for me that I would consider other than this. But what I do like about this is it has decent firepower, lots of turrets, and it has the protected cargo on the exterior and another hundred SCU. I think it's a very, very good medium ⁓ freighter. And I I don't know what else I would use, other than maybe a caterpillar. But the caterpillar, you then have all the internal doors. You've got that walkway that they're thinking about getting rid of, although I like it, but it gets in the way. The tractor beams are not in a good position. It's it's ⁓ yeah, I don't think there's much that that I'd pick over this. But what about you? Are you saying you wouldn't pick this as a cargo ship? It's not wooden. I think this ship would have been really useful during the resource drive where one of the key missions was that go down to the location, there's a load of enemies, but you can use the tractor beam to pick up all the cargo and put it onto the the underside of the ship. But with a raft you were doing like two missions and it was already time to go back. This one you could keep going for some a good period of time. Yeah. I do like the whole like on the outside. Yeah. I mean it makes life a lot easier. Like so much easier. Especially have you done any cargo running recently? Not recently, no. But ⁓ I do wonder if it's gonna be something like how thinking keybinds wise, what is gonna be the command to engage and disengage the exterior, say, armor for it? Because if it's a case of ⁓ I'm in flight mode now, like the gear is up and it then engages the stuff to like say, Hey, I'm in flight mode now, I'm gonna protect my cargo. You're then gonna have to hover over these locations if you wanna like steal stuff, put your landing gear down, just to disengage, just to attach it, or is it gonna be a whole different command? ⁓ it'd be a whole different command. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I it it'd probably be that the alt K whatever that that that that slot. Mm. You know the the extra the extra slot of the what alt K offers. I imagine it'd be something like that. ⁓ no, Alt K does your ship ⁓ ports, doesn't it? It'd be it'll be like one of those things where you can do what's ⁓ what does the old what does VTO? Is that K? K. ⁓ I think Alt K might be the one I'm thinking of. ⁓ w whatever. But either way, it will be its own separate button, I believe. ⁓ so you can 'cause otherwise when you land To take cargo off, you it would just be protected or unprotected in the landing state. And then if you wanted to get cargo off in space in the flying state, you'd have to put it into land it wouldn't make any sense. So yeah, I think that would be a separate button to protect your cargo. Probably left all and f third person. Yeah. Yeah. That does loads of stuff in ships. If anyone's playing right now should try it. Fixes a lot of issues. Yeah, fixes all your bugs actually. So chat, talk to us. What are you looking forward to with the Raiden? Yeah. If Hyperion is still here, he used to have one. I'm pretty sure he sold it. Is he thinking of getting another one? Yeah, I'd be interested to know if people are go sort of backpedaling on their decisions to melt ⁓ this ship now. Cause now that we've seen it and we've seen how they're tackling the cargo, I think it puts a lot of people's concerns to bed. Yeah. Well, people like to see like a quick turnaround on their investments, don't they? People don't like the whole, ⁓ we've spent some money, now we've got to wait, and there's not even a plan for them to implement it or start building it. Yeah, I mean that is the case of every concept sale though, right? I think we're we're finally getting to the point where there's not many concept ships left that they've sold that people are waiting for. Obviously, you've got the big ones like the Orion, ⁓ the Odyssey, the Erastra, like you've got those big quite big jobs, the Kraken. So and a lot of the the Galaxy's coming this year, the Kraken's coming next year. so we're gonna see two very big ships in the next twelve months. So yeah, th the Endeavour. Yeah, thank you, Ethan. so there's quite a few ships that are in concept, but most of them are like big boy ships now that are probably gonna take six months plus to build. So I would hope that most people have their concept stuff now outside of those things. Most of them are missing their gameplay as well. Like We don't ⁓ we don't have the pioneer yet, but baseballing's not in. So why why why should we have it? ⁓ Legionnaire don't have it yet. I'm sure it's sitting there ready, just waiting for the gameplay, the the balling gameplay to be done. So yeah, I don't know. I I think we're getting to the point now where there's not much concept left, which is good. It is good. But also we are also in a position where the old ships like the Commies and the freelancers are so dated they desperately need a a gold pass. I can see freelancers being sunset. Really? Where's I got the s the Star Lancer now? Think of it like the Ford Orion. You don't see those anymore, do you? But you'd need a Star Lancer miss. You'd need a missile boat version of the Freelancer. Of the Star Lancer. They can make one of them happen, for sure. Yeah. You might be right. It just seems so dated. Unless they're gonna bring out a Mark Two. No one's gonna be interested in the ship that even has a gold pass that looks like that. There is still positives to it. There's still like it's still got a bit of life in the old bird. Like with the ⁓ ⁓ the cockpit, the way that's laid out, the four seats. Yeah. There's still no other ship that's quite like that. I I think it's I love the freelancer. I think it's hu I did a whole video about how underrated I think it is. The the the du ⁓ the miss. Sorry, the what? The du It's a freelancer du. What does du even mean? Juration? Is that the exploration one? Endurance, duration, one of those two. What's the what's the cargo one? The Mac, Freelancer Macs. Yeah. ⁓ great ship. I know someone that that is their only ship to this day, and they haven't melted it because they love it, and that's all they fly for cargo. It's great. It does it does the job. It sits so low to the ground. When you drop the cargo ramp, the booty is slammed, dude. It's like it's like you've got hydraulics, it just slams. So it's so level, you can use the Atlas with it so easily. It's wonderful. So I think it just needs a gold pass. I would hate them to sunset it. I don't think it needs a mark two. In my eyes, the Star Lancer is kind of the Mark II, albeit being a lot bigger. I just think they need to goal pass it and move on. The Connies. The Connies. Yeah, I don't know. The Connies, I feel the same way. I'm sure we'll get a Mark II of both the Freelancer on the Constellation. I I think they're going to Mark II everything for but I'm I'm sure we'll get an Avenger Mark II because they can resell them, right? And It breathes more life into that ship. But then it does answer ⁓ but it does bring up the question of does that make the Mark Ones completely obsolete? That is always my concern. If you make a Mark II, who's using the Mark I? At which point, why not just get rid of the ship altogether? I don't know. It feels a bit I I don't like Mark IIs, personally. What would you prefer they do though? So take from consideration like the three fifty R, the what we would say the Mark One, the old design where it was like lots of panelling compared to the sleek design of the what we would say Mark II, which is just one day everyone had the original and then the next day they had the new updated model. What about people that liked the aesthetic of the old one? Would you not prefer they were allowed to keep that and have the option to go for a Mark II? Either an opt in or a five dollar CCU or even zero dollar CCU? I just think it should be a different ship. I just think you should have the Mark Ones. The Aurora Mark I should be the only Aurora. The Mark II should have been cut just a different ship. It doesn't even look the same. But car companies do this now. I get it. No, I I get it. I just to do to to do that and then sunset the old one 'cause it's so dated. I guess it saves dev time. Like they don't want to be sending devs back to try and refix old ships that were never designed for the current state of the game with all the components. spaghetti code and then look at the freelancer, where would you even be putting components on that thing? You'd have to bolster it out. You'd have to find all different areas to start putting components in and I I get it. It's more effort than it's worth. You might as well make a Mark II and sell it. But but but it does if any ship that gets sunseted, in my opinion, all the owners of that ship should get a free CCU to the Mark II. Yeah. If you if you own a Mark I, let's say Aurora You should have had a free CCU to the Mark II if they're sunsetting the old ones. Because that's basically them saying we're not touching them anymore. They've got their most up to date gold pass, so they work in the current game to an extent, but we're not ever we're not patching them, we're not innovating on them, that's it, they're done. Like the Aurora Mark Ones will never be touched again. That's that is what it is now. Hornet Mark Ones will never be touched again. I just think if you're doing that, you should be offering free CCUs from the Mark One owners to the Mark II. At the very least. Yeah. At the very least. ⁓ yeah. Cause it's kind of kicking the nuts, really. Like I if I have a freelancer, I don't, but if I had a freelancer and then they like, We're sunsetting it, here's a mark two. I'd be like, Well, so not only you're cr you're getting rid of my one, you're also making a new one. What? Quit crying. I don't even own the ship. I'm not crying. I'm just saying for people that have that have that, there should be a free CCU. But then we've got Rin Solara who using their first message in chat to say, I prefer updates, no Mark Twos. And that's you know, that's fair. Yeah, there's gotta be a way of how do you appeal to the masses. You don't have to follow one rule in this situation. You could have two. Or very easily, like you just said, a free CCU, maybe even for a period of time, during this special promotionary period, we are offering people the option to go from a Mark one to a Mark Two at no cost. Yeah. Yeah, I dunno. It's ⁓ Do you think they'll ever ⁓ stop selling ships? This was the the topic of conversation at breakfast this morning. We ⁓ so we st we stayed up there for buses and thought you meant at home. No, no, no. Yeah, me and the kids just yeah Yeah, my son slammed down his cereal and was like, No, daddy, they're gonna keep on selling ships. ⁓ maybe okay. No, but seriously, there was there was a guy who basically did that with with his with his breakfast this morning. He like, Yeah, they're gonna carry on selling ships and I I don't see the way they're gonna So you got a chill brother. You know, they've said they're not going to. It's gonna be pretty hard for to renege on that sort of statement. Of course we're gonna keep selling ships. Like, yeah. I mean maybe they will. But they've said they're not going to. They have got games that they're gonna be releasing. Reportedly they're working on another. So, yeah, they're a game studio. They're gonna make their money. But equally if people are willing to pay for ships, of course they're gonna Selling you're the problem. So he said, You're the problem. I'm the problem. We are all the problem. Yes, they have other games, right? And yeah, but the usually you don't ⁓ you know, borrow from Peter to pay Paul, whatever the whatever the ⁓ phrase is. So like yeah, you might make another game, but that shouldn't go back and fund an old game. It should fund your next project, not your old project. So if they make a new game after this, which is fine. after they finish Squadron and Star Citizen, whatever, it's not it it it won't the sales from that won't be to fund Star Citizen. The sales from that will be to fund the new games they want to make afterwards, right? So it's to fund the studio. Well yeah, but the but the there's levels to Star Citizen. It's not just the studio. The servers alone, if they're doing dynamic server mission, which is spinning up a new server every time there's an error, blah blah blah, they're gonna have to have potentially thousands of servers running all the time. Potentially, depending on how big the player base ends up becoming, especially if they want to move to consoles and it's gonna be this could be the biggest MMO ever made if it's if they do everything they actually want to do. Could be. ⁓ unlikely because they're what they want to do is huge, but if that happens, could easily be the biggest MMO of all time. They're gonna have to have the server costs alone. Chris is saying wants to have 10,000 people on a server, like it's mental, it's never gonna happen. But if he does manage to do it, the server costs alone are gonna be astronomical. So then you've got that, then you've got the staff needed to keep building. They said they wanted sixty star systems at launch. Obviously, we've spoken about this. They've rolled that back on the thing, and now we've got five, which is fine because it's a different scope of landing on everything. But every year they're going to be building more star systems. They're not going to just stop at five. There's probably going to be a new star system every year, hopefully, if they can get it that quick. So you're thinking that's dev time. They still need to build ships. They're still going to be making new ships for the game. Which is it's probably key to point out that that's a whole different team as well. People that people building like with Genesis and Starships ⁓ systems are people different to the people that are building ships because people just see dev and dev time, but they've got this many devs, they could all be working on this. It's like, no, they all have different disciplines, different jobs. Yeah, completely different jobs. Like what a ship artist does is not what a a back end coder does. Completely different. Everyone has a different job. It's it's like saying ⁓ well, you're an accountant, you should absolutely know everything about rocket science. And you're an astronaut, and you should know everything about ⁓ you know, civil engineering as well. Like it ⁓ it makes no sense. It's just different jobs. So you've got to pay all those salaries. You're you've got to pay people to build the ships. So you've got to sell the ships. So if they stop selling ships, they're either going to have a heavy cosmetic cosmetic model where everything is you buy cosmetics like like Sea of Thieves, where you can buy paints and you can buy pets and you can buy gun. paints and stuff. Basically that is like what they do now with those weapon skins and the monthly patch bundle and all that rubbish. So that is probably how they'll fund a lot of stuff. But that's going to be a splash in the ocean compared to selling a five thousand pound Odin in comparison to a twenty pound patch bundle. So I know obviously that th they don't sell as many, but you know, the point still stands. They they're going to have to do something I personally think that they they may very well look to go down to a subscription model. They already have the subscriptions in place. You can be a sub now. You've got your fifteen and your twenty dollar or your ten and twenty dollar subscription things for the Centaurion and whatnot. I think that may very well just become the new standard and it's like you play you pay monthly to play the game. So that you c even if it's you pay monthly to get access to a certain server or whatever, right? They there's so many options they have, but I wouldn't be shocked. We've seen it with World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft was a pay to play game. I would not be shocked if CIG did the same thing if the MMO is that big to pay servers, to pay staff. So I guess the answer is we'll see. They already said they want to make another squadron game. They want to do another chapter at some point. What's going to fund that? So it there's hopefully you squadron forty two money. But then what's finding Star Citizen? But that's what's funded squadron. Star Citizen is Maybe at that point there could be a line of delineation, say right from here on that funds this, that funds that. Like so the community events are all run by the community team, but that their funding comes from running live citizen cons. Yeah. So like the Mango Stone F seven A Mark II that was a Manchester, that was paid for by backup funds buying the tickets. Yeah. So everything is sort of like in its own little basket. Much easier to manage from an accounting point of view as well. Yeah, of course, yeah. But it's i it's it's how they separate that, because then you've got investor money and they've got to pay back investors and th there is milli multi, multi millions from investors, so we don't know how far back they've been paid, or maybe they're already done. Maybe not, we don't know. Apparently there was like a re up a few years ago. ⁓ Is they move on to what we'll call Squadron 43 and the devs will just move over back to Squadron as they did when they came to the PU. If you remember that we saw the marked improvement of the PU when they came over, almost immediately overnight, stuff was getting fixed, there was new stuff being introduced. We got used to this cadence of release. So these release schedules have been happening since the guys from Squadron finished their tasks and came over to the PU. What if they then go back and we just see the PU just get neglected again. Well, it could that's the problem. That is that is a genuine genuine concern is that they end up going to the the issue you've got, right, is when Squadron 42 is done and we're gonna start seeing it now, a lot of the staff are gonna move on. There's gonna be a lot of people that are going, right, that's my job done with CIG, my portfolio, my C V's updated, I'm moving on to a different studio to work on something different. Very normal in dev industry. When a certain chunk of a game's done, they don't need a thousand employees anymore. They might only need six hundred. So then you've got four hundred jobs. Put ⁓ this I'm spitballing, it might be less, it might be two hundred jobs, but there's gonna be a bunch of jobs that either people leave to go on to different different things or they're let go because they're no longer needed at the studio because squadron's done. Yes, they might be able to talk to Squad Star Citizen. Some of them might not even want to do that. They as I said, they might want to leave and go elsewhere. So then what you have is the knowledge of people that have built Squadron 42 leaving so then when you wanna start building squadron forty three, we'll call it, you've done a rehire people. They're not gonna just come back with any, they're gonna be doing something else. Eason dropped a load of ideas on how he sees the the funding being produced for the project. So scaling skins and liver is there's an issue with that because they originally said that you were going to be able to pick the colour of your ship. What happened to that? That's been reneged on hard. Wait see that'll come back. Body kits. This is something new that we've seen with the ⁓ the gray market shiv. Yep. That was quite nice, wasn't it? Some of them stuff ⁓ that they had. And voice packs, cosmetics for characters. I mean voice packs are already licensed anyway. We met one of the guys at Bar Citizen yesterday. He's a fantastic dude. ⁓ Flair for home and hanger. What real life? Real life in the home? We're getting flare in my house. That'd be cool. Update the current subscription model from developing game to live game system. Not sure what it means. Access to content or something. Yeah, I guess it will be like about Sea of Thieves. Like Sea of Thieves is quite a good model for it. I think that makes sense. Benji has arrived. He has just gone. ⁓ updates the concierge to encourage individuals. Yeah, concierge needs completely updating, but the thing is, is it gonna be like the referral ladder where it's like You've spent some money, there's gonna be a new stream, and then you get to gain both, or is it gonna be like goodbye, here's a new one, or you spent twenty five K on this one and complete concierge, this is the new ladder. You s because you s already spent that real life money, you've already ticked off these. I see. It'll be a new ladder, I think. Yeah, it's gonna be, isn't it? To introduce like and to encourage more like new spending. I think what they did that I think we've accurately predicted what the Odin was for. It's like those that have the money that want to buy war bonds, you can. There's enough of them on non war bond, so store credit purchases, to shore up that credit. And that's only been confirmed to me because if you melt your Odin you can't buy it back ever. You can't buy one because it says you've already got the Odin badge. It's over a grand, isn't it? ⁓ is that is that the limit? Okay. Yeah. So for me, that's confirmed. It was that is a w 'cause it's easier to sell smaller ships to players than one five grand ship. I'm not saying it's hard because people were lining up and throwing a dummy out pram because they got told no. Do we know how many they sold? No. I don't it might be out there somewhere, but I don't know. 'Cause they have the limit it, right? It's limited holes, so they will go, right, we're gonna sell a hundred, then another hundred, then another hundred, or whatever it is. So there must be a total amount of what they were happy to sell. Yeah. Cause they don't want to just plague the game. You don't want to see an Odin in every server. Like five Odins, which is what happened with the Idrises. I I went I flew my wolf down to ⁓ a bounty target a few weeks ago. And there are like five Idrises having a fight. And was like That's ridiculous. I kind of feel like this should feel like and they were all they were all individual, by the way. It's not like a fleet. It was five individual Idrises having a fight and a couple of fighters and that was it. And I just kinda thought, Man, these ships are supposed to be like you see ⁓ once in a blue moon in like a in a proper fleet situation or whatever, and it's supposed to be menacing. And then you just see like, yeah, five and all ramming each other in Atmo above I think it was above Hurston and I like And the Odin's gonna be the same. There's gonna be an o Odin owners club and there'll be a thousand Odins and the whole game will come crashing down. I think two of those things in one instance will break the entire game, so Yeah. I wouldn't know where the asso Founders Club is. I went in. Yeah, you've got one, haven't you? Yeah. Where where's my invite? ⁓ yeah, get in get in. And then we'll know how many they sold. Is it gonna be like a bit of either kite where there's just a chat group like Well the ha there's the eight ninety jump owners group, which is the one that I would like to be part of personally. The yacht club. Yeah. That'd be great. Because it's such a pointless ship for n it has no purpose. For now. I don't see it ever having a purpose. I can get my Tim Four hat theory on that. Yeah. I still think it's gonna launch submarines. Small submersible devices. Go to the bottom hangar of an eight ninety jump, take it down and just look at the mechanisms. Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe. I mean I I just want transport missions in, would be good. So you like you can take MPCs and depending on what class of ship you have, allows you to pay ⁓ charge more for your transport. So if you have an eight ninety jump, 'cause it's a luxury ship, you can charge a thousand AUEC per ticket to take ⁓ from A to B. Whereas if you're doing it on an an E one spirit, which is not as ⁓ glamorous, still very nice, but maybe you can only charge 500 a ticket. Or is that more like a private jet? I don't know. Like the Genesis Starliner. Can't wait for that. Or don't know if we're ever gonna see it, but I can't wait for that. ⁓ yeah I don't there's so much more still to go of this game like transport missions and stuff. There's so much more. I feel like every podcast we just pull back more layers of w of what's to come. And then I realised, ⁓ yeah, we're here for another ten years before one point We're not seeing one point ⁓ for a decade. 'Cause there's so much to do. Who knows? That is all we have time for this week. Without flogging the horse. Look forward to next week when hopefully there'll be at least three of us. We think. Although Swanky may have a plus one by then. Yeah. Or should have a plus one by then. So we wish him all the luck with what he's got coming forward. Yeah. In introducing his new player to the actual world. Yeah. CJ should be available. Yeah, hopefully. Hopefully, hopefully. Yes. Yeah. And we can do another Concio challenge as well. Yeah. Just before we wrap up, should we just answer a couple of questions in chat? did they ever say the own ⁓ Odin could land planet side or not? And I apologise for my dog going mental in the background. I don't know if they did. I don't think it can. It wouldn't make sense. It would not make sense. A lot of the things we have now would not make sense. No. The Bengal can't, can it? That's why you've got to build it in a space station. Yeah. I'm assuming this is the same size, maybe s slightly smaller, but it'll be this yeah, be the same. So probably not. Which I I would like to see it actually struggle in atmosphere. Like a ship of that size, I would like to see. If you flew an Odin into Atmo, you would end up just crashing or breaking apart or damaging. Like you would have you could only stay airborne for fifteen minutes in atmosphere on the on the Odin before things start to go wrong, is what I would like to see. So you have to take shuttles down, but we'll see. ⁓ as a new player, the biggest issue I have with the 890 jump is there's no NPCs working in restaurants or the bars. Yeah, 100%. I mean Chris has always said he wants the players to be the game. Fine. But then you've got to implement systems for people to sell drinks and work behind a bar and have systems where you can make drinks and and charge and stuff. Just give us NPCs. Reckon it's ⁓ suggesting a Gatak refueler. Well, there's a rumored variant in the mix, so I guess we'll find out more next week. What for the for the Raylan? They never actually said ⁓ it's an alternative version for the Raylan, but ⁓ yeah. Speculation says someone was saying that it's been like a leak or something like that. Yeah. We'll find out next week. Yep. Yeah, we'll see. ⁓ I I I think we're gonna get ⁓ eighty variants. I think we're gonna get a stealth ⁓ eighty. This week? No, no, no, no, no. I I just think they're gonna make variants of the ⁓ eighty. They'll do a stealth version of it, I think. Yeah. I wanna see a smaller version. Something a bit akin to like the F sixteen. Yeah, they could gut the middle and put torps in it. Like if they took out the entire walkway bit with the ladder stairs and the bed. You could fit some big torps in that little section. And then just giving you a lad at the front. They can make a torp version. And yeah, the ⁓ sixty. Yeah. I reckon they'll make a stealth version. And maybe like a little torp, like a mini eclipse, basically. It has like three size nines shoved up there. And it can just come 'cause obviously there's a big the middle, the whole middle, if they hollowed it, there's loads of room to put torps in there. The big ones as well. Uncle Malkie may be on something there. ⁓ sixty. The ⁓ fifty is an interceptor. The ⁓ eighty is heavy, which leaves the ⁓ sixty and ⁓ seventy in there. Could be light and medium before you get to the ⁓ eighty, which is heavy. I want the ⁓ sixty. Bring it out. Give to me, please. I'm loving the ⁓ eighty, to be honest. My daily driver at the moment for any combat scenario. I got so bored of the Hornet as much as I love the Hornet, so it's a I like the ⁓ eighty at the moment. Cool. Alright. We shall rapity rippity on there. ⁓ thank you everyone for tuning in. Sorry sorry for that little technical hitch there. That was Riverside going down on us and it's still we're not going down on us. going down and causing problems. And we also it looks like we're having issues at the moment, so I'm I'm hoping we're still live. But we will have a look at what caused that and we'll let them know. But yeah, if you're on Spotify, hopefully You won't have even noticed it happening. So we'll see. Any anything else, ⁓ Petere? No. Have a crack. Any other news from Bar Citizen? Any anything you can share? Any juice? ⁓ I was just there to catch up with friends to be fair. Yeah, hang out Dev's ⁓ wasn't even asking about the game. It was actually like so with Dan McCabe. He's just recently moved house. So it's just asking how he's getting on. ⁓ Nick from the ⁓ Say accounts, it's not the economy team. He was there, it's great to meet up with him. but yeah, we I wasn't asking anything about the game, it's just genuinely nice to see old friends and catch up with them. Fair. But ⁓ yeah, I I think my only ⁓ piece of advice is spend responsibly. subscription costs lots less a lot less than the new ship. Try it before you buy it, ask a friend. CCU game is a real thing, so Spend responsibly. And buy a raid and CCU now. Well Yeah, get one off the grey market. Someone that's sleeping at moment. Yeah. Right. That is all. That's a wrap, I believe they say. ⁓ thank you everyone very much for watching. Do not forget that if you are interested in some flight peripherals, then make sure to head over to Verpal Controls, these beautiful things right here, and ⁓ use the code Quantum Five at checkout for five percent off. Or if they've already got a sale, it stats on top. So let's say that's twenty percent, you get twenty five percent with our code as well. So make sure to go and have some fun with that because they they are the creme de la creme of flight peripherals. And make sure to submit your concierge challenge. We will get back to that next week. The only reason we didn't do it tonight is because there were just two of us, so it wouldn't make sense with giving people scores with only two of us. I guess CJ could have given his score in chat, but I didn't know if he was gonna be in chat. He couldn't have gone into great depth and stuff. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Alright. Thank you everyone and we will see you next week.
