m2: That was not not mentioned. Yeah. Sheets. That's what's in the spreadsheet. Sheets.

M1: Yes, listen, it's relevant. I am on a crusade against my current sheets on my bed. I love my winter sheets, my flannel sheets. They're so cozy and comfy. I do not like the sheets I have right now, my summer sheets. So I'm on a crusade to find new sheets. And I'm on a quest. I'm on a quest. Well, I'm on a crusade against my current sheets. I hate my sheets, so I'm on a crusade against them. I'm on a quest to find new sheets. And I was thinking.

m2: I don't think that's a crusade. I think a crusade is like you hate something. Okay.

M1: What are like really comfy sheets I've been on? Do you know what I'm gonna say? If you were to think about some of the comfiest bedding you've been in, the cruise. Yes. And I said, ⁓ my God, I should look at what sheets Disney Cruise Line uses and buy those sheets. I love those sheets. I looked them up. They're by this brand. It starts with like an F. I don't even remember what it's called. The sheets are thousands of dollars for one set. Yes. No, like

m2: The crew the cruise. Yeah. ⁓ not no way. No way.

M1: At least to consumers. Like obviously maybe Disney Cruise Line gets them in like bulk or like a a hotel rate or something. They're thousands of dollars. The the actual no, the actual link that people were sending around that they were saying was the real sheets. The first one I found was $3,700. I've yes, fret. I eventually found them on Bloomingdales for like $1,500. Let's see, I have it up still.

m2: There's just no way. Threat.

M1: ⁓ for sorry, one thousand one hundred fifty, a huge deal. And then on Fret's website, there was like one set that was like five hundred something dollars. It was

m2: There's I mean those sheets are ver holy crap, these are so insanely expensive. How is this possible? Wow. I don't have the ⁓ I don't have the money for fret. I mean, they are comfortable, but like I don't have I don't have fret money.

M1: I told you Isn't that unbelievable? And they are ex I don't have fret I don't have fret money. I don't have fret money. And I really I thought this was such a good idea when I thought of it. I was like, ⁓ my god, the sheets are amazing. ⁓ I don't have fret money apparently.

m2: I mean what I guess I will say is that I when we've seen a lot of hotels and you asked me the hotels that have the most comfortable sheets and I knew it was the cruise line.

M1: Exactly, because they are genuinely so comfortable. Like if you've never been on a Disney cruise, the bed on a Disney cruise, ⁓ there's nothing like it.

m2: Okay, this is a great bridge into Disney robes. And I'm gonna shout at our friend Anna Enchanted. Her name is spelled A-E-N-A. Because if you like Grand Floridian content or really the boardwalk, Anna is your girl. ⁓ she always gushes about a Disney robe, and I never really got on board with it, but I just found a picture of us when we say at the Grand Floridian for the first time, and I was like, ⁓ I sort of remember those robes. But when we were staying at the Disneyland Hotel in Disneyland Paris recently, I was obsessed with my robe and I wanna re-enter my robe era, but I actually like which resorts have robes? Riviera has robes, Grim Floridian has robes.

M1: Like does the beach c one would think all deluxe resorts have robes, but I don't think that's the case. Yeah, I don't think that's the case.

m2: I don't no way. Animal Kingdom Lodge does not have robes, and neither does Wilderness Lodge. I feel like it's just Grand and Riviera potentially. Boardwalk maybe.

M1: We only ever put on robes to like make content, like about being in a rope.

m2: Yep. About being not being in a row, but being like cozy.

M1: Well yeah, like being cozy in a hotel room. But like we don't we're n I'm not the type of person to get out of the shower and want to put on a robe. It's just like not. Me too, but I'm not.

m2: I want to be the type of person that does it, but I'm not. I have a robe, but I just I'm like, ⁓ this episode is not about robes, okay? And it's not even about the trip that we're taking, ⁓ when you're listening to this. We'll be talking about that a little bit later though. The tr this is about the beach and the yacht club. But before we get to that,

m2: Okay. I need to gab quickly about Universal Kids Resort because I have gone I've gone down a deep dive about it. I have. I did a whole post about it on TikTok. Have you been following the Universal Kids Resort? Maybe I should give some context. Universal announced that they were creating a like a little tiny theme park in Frisco, Texas. And it's it's not like a full universal park, but it would have IP. So it has like trolls and Shrek and SpongeBob and like a couple of other things that I can't remember.

M1: Of course you should.

m2: ⁓ it was Yep, Puss and Boots, which is ⁓ adjacent to Shrek O Minions, yeah. And it was supposed to always be like a cheaper version. It has one hotel, has this sort of like smaller theme park, and it is like literally what I would say breaking the internet with how people are so torn about it. ⁓ No, it's not even open yet. It actually is media previews. And the reason is the reason that people are all a buzz about it is because one, they're saying that all of the rides are like

M1: Puss in boots Minions. It just opened to be clear. Like it's just it's doing its media, yeah, media previews.

m2: ⁓ just like replicas of other places. Like there's nothing unique. They don't have dark rides and stuff. We'll talk about that in a second. And two, they said that there's too much concrete everywhere. And I have to say, I do agree with that a little bit. And I looked at all the concept art and I did a whole like urban planning deep dive. And here's what I've here's what I've deduced. There's too much concrete. ⁓ all of the pictures show these big mature trees and none of the trees have grown at all. Someone even commented saying like they're ordering more and they haven't come yet, but I'm not sure about that. They have not a single flower at all. And there is too much concrete and they needed to add more paint. I understand it was supposed to be kind of cheap, like inexpensive, but but like they needed more paint for sure.

M1: It's low budget. It's low budget, yeah. Yes. And I think it you know, I have mixed thoughts. Universal is in a tough spot because, you know, of course, around the country, there are amusement parks, tiny theme parks that are that are, you know, minimal theming, like whatever. But universal is universal and they're using huge intellectual property, you know, minions and and and Shrek and whatever. And so SpongeBob, trolls, like people have expectations of that. And when you look at

m2: SpongeBob.

M1: What they built, it does feel like fairly generic, you know, themed versions of like carnival-esque rides for the most part. Not every single one, but it's

m2: Hate them that much for using a repeated ride because even like Disney does that sometimes. I think them using like a ride system that exists elsewhere, even like the Minions Water ride, which is the one I'm seeing a lot of because it's just not themed that well. But I don't mind the ride track thing. I do think that there's a couple of issues. The Shrek ride where you're riding in a car, it I mean, guys, it's literally like three big cutouts of Shrek and Fiona like a crayon format and nothing else. I'm like, why?

M1: Oof There's nothing to see.

m2: It's in it's crazy. I mean, I could build that in my backyard and I'm dead serious. I could. I really could.

M1: There's Yeah, like there's just nothing to see. It's very odd.

m2: And people are mad they didn't build the ⁓ the crusty cruspy crab? What's it called? ⁓ the crusty crab. Wow, that sounded so weird coming out of my mouth for a second. The crusty crab. They didn't build that. I'm we never watched Spongebob as kids. Mama Mouselet said, ⁓ I'm trying to put there we go. We weren't allowed to watch Spongebob or the Rugrats Mama Mouslet said that they were too naughty. So literally.

M1: Cresty? Literally. Okay. Speaking of that, another thing I saw, which is like a lesser complaint compared to the the main complaint is the concrete. The second complaint is like the sort of very minimal weak theming of certain things. Yeah. ⁓ but another sort of smaller critique I saw is SpongeBob and Shrek are really more ⁓ IP that like millennials like.

m2: theming. Yeah.

M1: Like Shrek came out when I was a child. There's still new Shrek movies now, but like it's they're releasing a Shrek five, it's a whole big thing. Because Shrek looks different apparently.

m2: Are there still new Shrek movies out? I'm pr ⁓ actually I haven't seen that. ⁓ my headphones fell off.

M1: Yeah, your headphones are falling off. ⁓ but so people were saying, how come in a park that is built really only for kids? Like this, you know, Disney. Yeah, it's a children's park. This isn't really a family park or like a park that like adults would go to. It's it's really truly like for kids. Sure. Families with kids, yes. It's not like me and Mouse the two would go to this park for fun ourselves. ⁓

m2: Even the toilets people said are literally for children. ⁓ it's a family park, but for families with kids.

M1: People like, why would they put IP that's really more for like the millennial generation in a park that's only for children?

m2: Well, people were saying, like, sorry, I'm taking out my earrings in case you're watching on video 'cause they're like being smashed into my head. But people were saying, why didn't they just go all out and knock it out of the park? 'Cause then people would have wanted to go. And it is like an interesting concept. It's like, why didn't they make it better? I guess is the question. Like, why isn't it better? Obviously it was like a budget thing. I mean, they must have someone said they spent a hundred million dollars on the park. And I'm like, I mean, the hotel probably cost a decent chunk of change, but like, I mean

M1: Yeah. ⁓ my god, I really, really hope that that's not true.

m2: So anyway, I did a whole deep dive on TikTok. I compared it to Storyland in New Hampshire, which we talked about in the sitting on the ground Patreon segment. I think that they could have made some improvements. Before we get into some news, I just want to say, if you're listening to this on the release day, we're currently in Disney World. Might be a surprise to you. We haven't talked about it that much. We probably talked about it on Tuesday, so you might know. ⁓ but yeah, we're in Disney.

M1: No. We are currently, I would say, so unprepared. The reason that we haven't talked about this I'm not. The reason we haven't talked about this trip as much is it's just a different type of trip than usual. We're going to do a whole little segment on our itinerary ⁓ later in the episode, if you're curious. But it's come up very quickly, I would say. ⁓ I've had a lot going on, and I wish you could see kind of right over there off camera where all of my potential outfits are thrown into a giant pile.

m2: No, I'm on I'm prepared. I'm prepared.

M1: I have not packed a single thing. My flight is at 330 tomorrow. I have not packed a single thing for Rehoboth Beach, which we're flying straight to after the trip for a week. So I'm feeling a little bit stressed.

m2: But Mouseless C is bringing your bag. ⁓ I'm fully packed other than some electronics in my dop kit, which is excellent. Feels really good. I have I have to bring my suitcase to work tomorrow, which obviously is like my literal worst nightmare. You know how I feel about that. Just like, my God, just can't bear. I'm probably gonna put it under this girl's desk who sits like right by the front door. Yeah. Yeah. That's how strongly I feel about not wanting to bring my suitcase into the office. ⁓ but I'm flying out of like I'm just it's easier to just go into the office. Anyway, we're on a trip. Let's get into a little bit of news.

M1: You're crazy. We just had to cut a little bit because the sound effect isn't working for Mouselit 2. She like can't

m2: It's saying that's what you missed. That's what you missed. That's what you missed. Like over and over. And I can't hear the glee part and I don't hear anything. So we had to retake it over and over. There's kind of a lot of news. That's what I was gonna say. But it's like smaller news in a way that I like and I'm actually happy about. Okay, the first piece of news, and this is exciting. Disney closed jelly rolls six months ago-ish now. It was the dueling piano bar on the boardwalk. ⁓ it was so fun. Didn't really know what they're gonna do with it.

M1: There actually is a lot of news and I'm excited for some of it and I didn't even know about some.

m2: I love what they're doing with it. They're replacing it with something called Hurley Burley, and it's like a jazz club. So here's the official description. During the afternoon, guests can drop by for family friendly activities like trivia and other games led by a charismatic host. By night, Hurly Burley will transition into a live music venue, welcoming guests twenty one and over to unwind with classic coastal inspired cocktails, tasty light bites, while enjoying a variety of musical entertainment that perfectly complements the boardwalk's other unique offerings. This to me feels very Luna Lounge on Disney Cruise Line. Like offering trivia and games. I don't know if that's gonna be successful th for them, just like being honest. I don't know if yeah.

M1: Yes. If enough people will go. I hope they do though, because like the boardwalk has so much potential for like feeling really lively, honestly, kind of feeling like Disney Cruise line, like just feeling like there's a lot of little sideshows going on and stuff. And I think that this, even though I I am very sad to see Jelly Rolls go, I have to say. But for anything that they're going to replace it with, this totally fits the like seaside sort of.

m2: Yeah. Retail. Retail.

M1: atmosphere, you know, the like, I don't even know what time period the boardwalk is supposed to resent pr represent, but whatever that time period is. And I love the idea that yeah, that they're gonna have like a jazz club because our family loves to go to the Scat Cats jazz club at French Quarter, but the band only plays there like two nights a week.

m2: Yeah, early nineteen hundreds. And it's small in there, it's hard to get a seat. ⁓ my god, remember our fight in there? That's a mouse let's floor for another day. No, well like I think it w maybe it like maybe me and a man had a fight or mom and a man. I got in a fight with someone. Wait, okay, I have to say this.

M1: Me and do you wanna fight? It was the

m2: I got in a fight with some car today. I was on the phone with Mouse today. This is so unrelated, but I have to share. I was crossing a a crosswalk. Okay. I'm crossing the crosswalk. I have the right of way to cross the crosswalk. He's driving, whipping down the road. I'm crossing. I stop. He pulls in front of me. He like so he would have hit me. And then he like slams on the brake and he's like kind of yelling. like beeps and is yelling at me through the window. And I'm staring at them and I'm like, hello. It's a crosswalk. He rolls down his window and he's like, What are you doing? Like, I didn't see you. And I said, Hello, this is a crosswalk. And we're having like a conversation. Me and this man, he's like, but he's like, but you know, I didn't see you coming out of out of there. Like, do like, and I was like, this is a crosswalk. Anyway, we were literally he's like, we're literally arguing there, the two of us. And then I was like, ⁓ and I walked away. And it reminded me of another time recently that like some guy blocked the box, and I sat there in my car, as I do sometimes, laying on the board.

M1: Yeah. Ha ha ha. Mouse Lady always says that our family loves to beep the horn of the car. We do.

m2: And And we do. And we do. But I sat there laying on the horn at him so much that and then he obviously didn't move for like minutes. And we just both ended up like sitting and like laughing and kind of becoming friends.

M1: I actually got in a horn fight with a car today on my way back from the nail salon because I was waiting to make I was waiting to make kind of a precarious left turn. And there was a car that was coming that was supposedly gonna turn right and another car coming from the other way that's gonna turn left. All this to say, if both of them had actually turned, I could go. But I don't trust people and their stupid signals. Never trust a blinker, so I did not want to go until I knew that they were turning. And the guy behind me is laying on his horn wanting me to go.

m2: Of course you did. Never trust a blinker, as me and Mel Saday say. So what, you beeped back? From in front of him.

M1: I beeped back. I and we were in a and we were in a beeping fight. We literally were in a beep fight.

m2: I would have just sat there. Yeah, our family does. We like love to beep a horn in like a bad way. And you know what? A horn is an intentional warning and I'll beep my horn whenever I need to. Don't remember how we got on there, but Hurley Burley is coming to the boardwalk. ⁓ no official opening date yet.

M1: Yeah. But I'm very excited. In other boardwalk news, they are seeming like kind of trying to like revitalize the boardwalk a little bit. And again, I absolutely love this. So another thing that they're bringing is Basin. Basin, you may know it. It's at Disney Springs and it's currently at the Grand Floridian. They sell like soaps and scrubs and stuff. ⁓ but I think it's fun because this location, they said, this is a quote from the article. It says this location will also feature interactive elements that make the experience especially unique.

m2: Likewise.

M1: including a custom bath tea blending counter, a make your own soap station, and a soap embossing press for a personalizing finish touch. And I just think those type of things are like a fun place to get unique souvenirs or even go in like we often will go into the Grand Floridian one and use the scrubs and like not necessarily buy anything. But we we ta try them out and then Mama Mouse Lid inevitably does buy one. But you know.

m2: Yeah. I actually buy things a lot. I I will I would love to make my own soap. I love my basin soap. It's sitting in my bathroom right now. It's one of my favorite soaps I've ever used. So I'm excited about that.

M1: Same. So I love that. I don't know I would where do you think it's gonna go exactly? What's empty?

m2: Flying Fish is empty? No, not flying fish. The thing next to it. What's it called? A boardwalk restaurant that closed. Boardwalk just riffin.

M1: No, it's not. ⁓ it was like a really random restaurant, yes. It was like big ale or something. No, it was I don't think it was Big Fish. Big fish

m2: Big ale. No, I don't think it was big ale. That doesn't sound like it was big fish. Big fish. Big river grill and brewing works. Wow. Big river ⁓ my god. It was an opening day. Big River Grill and Brewing Works. I just said that. It was an opening day. ⁓ my god, I'm sick. ⁓ it was the only working brew pub at Walt Disney World.

M1: Okay, I was making fun of you going I'm sad. It wasn't available as a reservation and I really think that's why it didn't do well. This actually ties perfectly into our next piece of news. Go ahead.

m2: I can't talk about it any further. This is ex very, very exciting is that there is a new quick service restaurant coming to the boardwalk. That's all we know. More on it coming soon. But this is exciting because you can get like a slice of ⁓ pizza. They have the boardwalk like bakery and deli, but like it needs another quick service.

M1: If you're staying at the boardwalk, the only quick service at the boardwalk is are those things. The pizza w Yeah. But like you can't just get like a regular dinner. You're either having pizza or like a sandwich. I I find it really lacking. I mean, you could walk somewhere else easily, but ⁓ okay, next up a little one. The Eat to the Beat concert lineup was announced. This is the series that they do during the Food and Wine Festival.

m2: And the carousel coffee place. Yeah. I agree. I agree.

M1: So there's returning favorites, boys to men, yellow card, the beach boys will all be back. But some new ones that they listed were Lauren Elena, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Grace Potter. So if you know any of those people, they're coming Apcot.

m2: You don't know fits in the tantrums? What? ⁓ my god. I can't think of us the song they have a very famous song.

M1: No. Who's that? Who is that? Grace Potter sounds familiar to me.

m2: I also think I know Fits in the Tantrums. Wow is playing in Ridgefield Ridgefield, Connecticut soon. You are out of my league. Do you know that song?

M1: ⁓ Grace Potter did the song Okay, I know that song, yes. Grace Potter did the song from Tangle that goes Want something that I want Yeah.

m2: ⁓ mom line I want. Yeah, I know that. And fits in the tantrums also. I can make your hands clap. Yeah. Okay. ⁓ the most exciting news by far. I am so excited for this. Disney's Lakeshore Lodge. I've always been a little bit iffy on if I would love this resort or not. I officially love it. Okay. Big news. The wetlands is coming to Lakeshore Lodge. Instantly brings back like river country, iconic river country memories. I love that.

M1: D. Okay.

m2: When Lakeshore Lodge opens at Walt Disney World, guests will be invited to relax, unwind, and reconnect with Nature at the Wetlands, a sweeping outdoor recreation area just beyond the lobby that's surrounded by the beauty of Bay Lake. Obsessed, all again, feels so river country in the best way. The wetlands will be thoughtfully designed with both fun and relaxation in mind. Younger guests will become a part of nature's story through whimsical wet and dry play areas, inspired them by the music and storytelling of Walt Disney's animation studios. Pocahontas, that was a mouthful. Drawing from the lyrics, the Heron and the Otter are my friends from the beloved song Colors of the Wind. These vibrant spaces will celebrate the playful connections found in nature. Heron shores will welcome exploration and hands-on play with imaginative climbing features. I hope that's for adults as well. While ones can cool off as they splash and slide. Oops, while just around the riverbend, otter springs will come to life with interactive water features where little ones can cool off as they splash and slide.

M1: You skipped it.

m2: Nearby the lazy daydream river will invite guests to sit back and relax as the current carries them through the recreation area, offering a leisurely way to take in the views of the surrounding landscape. Obsessed, literally obsessed.

M1: Why don't we ⁓ have the clapping and the cheering sound effects anymore? ⁓ here. They're at the bottom now. Weird.

m2: At the heart of the wetlands will be Lakeside Lagoon. Turn that off. The resort's zero entry feature pool where guests of all ages can come together under the Florida sun, complete with a spiral water slide, which I think could be a little bit better themed. That's maybe my only critique, but a spiral water slide, I love that, that leads into the refreshing water. Tucked away in the opposite side of the resort, Perspective Pond will be home to a leisure pool and a whirlpool spa, perfectly per positioned for views of Magic Kingdom fireworks in the evenings. I'm obsessed.

M1: I'm obsessed.

m2: People say I'm obsessed with this. I am obsessed with this.

M1: I am obsessed. This actually ties so well into our main topic today because this is so the Beach and Yacht Club, if you don't know, have a very, very unique pool area. It's completely different than any other one that Disney has. We're going to get into that today. This is only the second time, other than that, that Disney has ever built sort of like a mini water park at one of their Walt Disney World resorts. Yeah, Olani has a similar type of thing. But like a lazy river, I'm

m2: No, it does. At Walt Disney World. They so good. Same. It's gonna be so so good.

M1: So excited. It's gonna be amazing. ⁓ I wanted to mention there was a people magazine article that some people sent us that basically because because it's not actually interesting, because what it did was they wrote it in a way that made it sound like river country was turning into the wetlands. Like, and I people were sending it, people were sending it to us, and I was like, this article.

m2: That you didn't send me, but Send me that. Show it to me, Rachel. Show it to me, please. Please actually send me that.

M1: Show it to me, please. I was like, okay, this article is completely misconstruing it because just to be clear, river country has been completely raised. There's nothing left. They're starting fresh and the wetlands is just like, yes, it's on the old river country grounds, but it has nothing to do with river country infrastructure. But People magazine was making it sound like it did.

m2: I'm sort of disappointed at People Magazine. ⁓ I feel like we can do a whole deep dive on this entire thing. Maybe we talk river country too. Like there's so much to talk about. I think that this is so smart. I love that they're tying in po I feel like this is a great way to tie in Boca Hontas. Like a fun way. Like I love that song. I'm obsessed. The lazy, I mean, this is gonna be impossible to get a reservation at. Like, impossible. Okay, the last little piece of news.

M1: Meet out. Me too. ⁓ impossible. Literally impossible. The last little piece of news is that I just went on to the Disney Parks blog website to gather the news for this episode, and there's a huge banner that says halfway to the holidays, and then it has like a picture of an empty fireplace. And it says a few stockings will join us soon. Twas the night before halfway to the holidays, the mantle stood still, with spaces to fill and secrets to reveal. So I assume that by the time this episode is out, there will have been a halfway to the holidays announcement. That message kind of makes it sound like something new is going to be happening this holiday season.

m2: I hope that something new is happening and it's called Redoing Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Except n if they change that song, Selfie. If they change that selfie song. Selfie Merry Christmas. I don't remember what its song is, but I love it.

M1: Would There's no way I love I love that song. So anyways, by the time this episode comes out, that will probably have been announced. We will talk about it next time. But I am really curious if they're actually doing something new. That'd be cool.

m2: Same. with that, let's get into the main segment of the episode. We are doing a deep dive on the beach and the yacht club resort. Reason being, we're about to stay at the beach club. And if you're listening to this on release day, we are currently staying at the beach club. Of all of the Disney resorts, to me, the beach and yacht club, aside from the monorail resorts, has some of the most lore, which is why I think it's going to be really fun to cover. And just sort of the way that they were developed. So we're going to dive into some of the history of this resort. We'll talk about the early kind of the early days in the 90s, and then we'll talk about what it's like today, some tips and our thoughts on it. But I will kind of talk about how they actually developed this because these resorts didn't open until 1990, but Epcot opened in 1982. So there's a little bit of a gap here. Versus for Magic Kingdom, the Monterey Resorts opened, well, not all of them, but the Polynesian of the Contemporary opened right away with the park. So for a bit there wasn't actually anything happening here as far as like a Disney-owned resort. But then eventually Disney decided that they wanted to pop up a bunch of new resorts. And you can read more about it in their 1989 annual shareholder report. I love the annual shareholder report in case you don't know that about me. I read them all the time. I even own a couple of my own that I couldn't find on the internet that I had to buy off of eBay. Here's what it says. The pace at Disney Development Company continued to quicken in 1989. DDC, Disney Development Company, which works with other Disney divisions to develop and manage construction projects, completed the 65,000 square foot casting center. The 2012 room Caribbean Beach Resort, the 137,000 square foot crossroads shopping center, and the 10-screen AMC Theaters project at Walt Disney World this year. In addition, it finished work on the massive infrastructure and area development for the Disney Center in Florida, which will eventually comprise five hotels: Disney's Beach and Yacht Club, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, the Boardwalk Nighttime Entertainment Facility and Hotel, as well as meeting and convention facilities and a second entrance to Epcot. Okay. So interesting. Disney Center. That's what they were initially kind of like brand I've never heard that before, had you? And I don't think I think they dropped that very quickly. That's definitely not something. But this is sort of their thought that they needed to build this whole big complex kind of area. It was gonna basically be the monorail loop of Magic Kingdom, but they wanted it over by Epcot. They did not actually have that back entrance to Epcot originally. They were adding it later as a part of all of this project. ⁓ and so

M1: No, me neither. Yeah, that's definitely not what it's called.

m2: Disney decided kind of what path they wanted to take with this. They were going to build a collection of resorts inspired by real American coastal destinations, and they hired a very famous architect, Robert A. ⁓ Stern. He had a passion for replicating the vintage American vacation experience, and he designed both the beach and the yacht club resort. He also went on to add the boardwalk in, and then together they kind of form this main, like Epcot resort area. I'm gonna just caveat this entire conversation with the fact. That okay, save the two resort names. Actually, this is a little

M1: Beach and yacht club.

m2: Yeah, I say the beach and the yacht club. And every time I say that, because we did a video about this once, people annihilate me and say it should be the yacht and the beach club. That sounds so awkward to me. That's like saying Bert and Ernie to me. It just sounds so backwards. Like so Beach and No, it's beach and yacht. Anyway, to get into a little bit more in the final kind of piece of this early vision, it wasn't just the resorts, but they wanted to have this be like a a main desk

M1: ⁓ Yacht and beach, beach and yacht. Now I'm getting confused.

m2: a main destination. So they added a lake which is Crescent Lake and that's the lake that Beach and Yacht Club and the Boardwalk are on. They had boat rentals, you could swim there. We'll get into that later. They had nightlife and they had restaurants and you could get directly into Epcot.

M1: So, in terms of the actual resort themes, the Yacht Club and the Beach Club are sister resorts in that they share some amenities, they share their pool that we're going to talk about, but they are two distinct resorts with very distinct themes. So the Yacht Club is 1880s New England Seaside Resort. I would say that the Yacht Club is one of the most formal resorts on Disney property. Perhaps even more so than like the Grand Floridian. Just really kind of has a A s a stuffy yeah, stuffiness to it in like not a bad way. I love the yacht club, but it's very formal. A lot of dark wood, think like nautical details, ships, like it feels sort of like a private yacht club. Yeah, like by the water. Then the other one, the sister resort, is the beach club. This is a turn of the century Atlantic beach resort, bright colors, more casual atmosphere, family focused. It's

m2: Bougie. Yatsman Club, yeah.

M1: Despite them being connected, they were specifically designed to be like opposite. So the yacht club is very much like sort of private bougie elitist and beach club is like the family friendly like seaside resort.

m2: Yeah. So construction started. ⁓ Disney started planning it in nineteen eighty-five, nineteen eighty-six, that they were really like developing all of these models. Finally, it opened up in nineteen November fifth of nineteen ninety, yacht club opened first, and then November nineteenth of nineteen ninety, Beach Club opened. Kind of curious if Beach Club was running out a little delay there. You would have thought they would have opened at the same time. and this was sort of something that Disney was doing at the time, popping up a lot of different really like big theme resorts.

M1: Yeah, that's random.

m2: Both of these resorts had what I would consider big, I think you would consider it too like a big theme compared to the Riviera, which is like a little more subtle. These were meant to really feel like an actual beach and yacht club. ⁓ so they had Crescent Lake, the back end of both these resorts, they were sister resorts, shared like the same laundry facilities facilities and the kitchen facilities and the cast member areas. Those were all shared. So it made the efficiency of these resorts like work really well, but they were distinctly different. ⁓ and the architect and general contractor actually both have a whole blurb about these resorts on their website. So I thought we could read those. I sort of am like more of the yacht club girl, you're more of the beach club girl if we had to pick. Would you agree? Yeah, I'll start with the yacht club. Modeled after turn of the century seaside cottages, the yacht club resort is an upscale five story New England nautical themed resort that opened in nineteen ninety. Designed by Robert A. ⁓ Stern, this six hundred and thirty room hotel reflects the style of New England shore hotels of the eighteen eighties, reminiscent of the summertime shingle style hotels of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The nautical theme is evident throughout, with distinct gray and white clapboard and red and white striped awnings distinguishing itself from the light blue motif of Beach Club. The yacht club is slightly more formal in decor than the Beach Club, designed to make guests feel as if they are on a ship. With sophistication found in dark hardwood floors, leather couches, and antique lobby chandeliers. The nautical theme is conveyed through deep blue and brown color tones, brass fixtures, and rich millwork.

M1: It is located next to the Beach Club Resort, a more relaxed pastel toned resort, shaded by broad oak trees and lapped by the gentle waters of twenty five acre Crescent Lake. The Yacht and Beach Club resorts have a combined total of 1,215 guest rooms and nearly one hundred thousand square feet of flexible meeting and event space on one contiguas? How do you say that word? Contingous? ⁓ is there an extra G in there?

m2: Continuous continuous it's just continuous.

M1: Okay, it says continuous level. The most unique feature of both resorts is that they share one of the nation's largest sand swimming pools, Storm Along Bay. This 750,000 gallon three acre swimming pool consists of whirlpools, lagoons, slides, and meandering waterways. The water slide is housed in a shipwreck and empties into the larger pool area. The iconic lighthouse sits at the end of the Yacht and Beach Club dock and the boardwalk that circles Crescent Lake.

m2: Well, there's a typo on their website then.

M1: So that's a little overview of the resorts, but to go back to opening day and kind of the opening day offerings. ⁓ the resorts have standard view rooms and then water view rooms that look out on Crescent Lake. And then there's concierge level rooms and there's suites, which were like originally designed for convention guests and executives. The yacht club in particular, I know, has some insanely unique suites. There's like some turrets at the yacht club, and there are suites in those that are Crazy. And we know someone who once got upgraded randomly to like a two or three bedroom in the yacht club. In seriously insane. when they opened, they were among Disney's most expensive hotels, which makes sense. They were deluxe, and that meant that the room rates were 190 to $325 per night, which now is obviously crazy. That wasn't even that long ago, it was the 90s, but

m2: Which is insane. I would kill to be upgraded to that.

M1: That was very expensive at the time. Mouse Lit 2 has a little graphic in here that shows like some of the rates. Do you want to talk about that?

m2: Sure. It it just was listing. It's like an old it's from nineteen ninety six. So six years after opening, a standard view room at like the cheapest time of year was two hundred and twenty five dollars. Kind of a lot, honestly. ⁓ and like a more expensive time of year would be like two hundred and fifty. ⁓ a lagoon view would be three hundred and fifteen. I just wanna say we're staying at this resort for like four hundred dollars a night. Compared to these prices, that's super cheap. A King Seiko we did. What is a King Seiko room?

M1: We got an amazing deal on it though. I don't know, King Seiko

m2: King Seiko room went for two fifty. I think they've sort of dropped that terminology. And then the suites at that time would go up to fourteen hundred, which is crazy. Very, very expensive. And these were all just like standard rooms just for reference.

M1: Okay, according to g to Google AI overview, so don't necessarily trust this. At Disney's Beach Club Resort, a King Seiko room features one permanent king sized bed along with a pull down Seiko bed. I I don't know if I believe that.

m2: I actually buy that completely. Cause when I looked it up it said it was a Japanese wristwatch maker.

M1: Okay, guys. Okay, guys, do your own research. Okay. this resort does have a convention area that Mouse 2 and I once randomly wandered into accidentally. So it was built to expand that part of Disney's business. There's big meeting rooms, there's big ballroom spaces. That means it can be used for like conferences and in theory, like weddings and stuff. And the yacht club in particular was marketed towards corporate groups and conferences. It makes sense. It has that very upscale, more adult vibe. It's specifically attached to the convention center. Beach and yacht club are extremely accessible with one another, but it is technically the yacht club that actually has the convention space. And then we're gonna go into some of the original amenities more, but there were multiple restaurants and lounges, tennis courts, a fitness center, marina activities on Crescent Lake, again, huge meeting facilities, and the Storm Along Bay pool complex. and this was like a big deal because Prior to this, Disney's kind of premier location had been the Monorail Loop at Magic Kingdom, obviously. That was like the place. This was them now introducing a similar thing in Epcot. So this was like a new sort of premier location for Disney. You could easily get to Epcot and the newly opened Hollywood Studios from this area, which was like, you know, brand new, brand new for the resort at the time. Walk to Epcot through the International Gateway, boat to MGM. And then they had internal trams at the time to help guests like get around the area.

m2: Feel like you glazed over that. They had literal like parking lot trams that were like orange riding around Crescent Lake. I think that's so cool.

M1: I wish that they had those now. I would literally I would love that. I would love a tram. But speaking of the walk, being able to walk to a to a Disney theme park like unheard of in the 90s. Contemporary, you could. But other than that, like you couldn't really walk to a theme park. And this was such a walkable area for the first time that this was like a big marketing tactic for them where you could stay there, you could walk to technically two different

m2: No, I like the I like the walk. You would you're a big tram girl. You're a big tram girl.

M1: Or I don't know if you could walk to MGM at the time. But you could easily access two different parks. So

m2: Yeah. ⁓ opening day dining. So there were a handful of different kind of things. We're not gonna talk about too many of them because honestly, most of these are here today. But Yachtsman Steakhouse was there, Cape May Cafe, ⁓ Beaches and Cream, Hurricane Hannah's. These were all ⁓ you know, some of the restaurants that were there. But again, we'll get into more, including you know what I'm gonna say. ⁓ because first I think we should talk about the storm along Bay Deep Dive. I will say We did a full actual YouTube deep dive where we talked all about it and we got to interview cast members who actually worked on a huge refurbishment project. We got into all of the history. But Storm Along Bay is the big pool complex. It is probably the best pool on Walt Disney World property, except, I mean, honestly, Lakeshore Lodge might rival it, but there's a lot of cool stuff and Mouse at one sort of alluded to it.

M1: So this pool is technically actually multiple different pools. It's like a full pool complex. One of the pools is a sand bottom pool. It's this like special type of sand, and they even have very shallow areas where the sand comes up and out. So kids can go play in the sand, or you can obviously be in the pool with the sand. It is extremely unique for any hotel. Yeah, because that's it's this very certain like.

m2: And I think they import the sand from like the Gulf of Mexico or something they said.

M1: type of sand that they're using. It's like a bigger pebble sand basically. ⁓ then across the sidewalk. So technically outside of the pool complex over by Crescent Lake, they have a big shipwreck. That actually has a very like small pool on it as well. Plus the stairs up to the big slide that goes across that walkway and down into the main pool. Such a fun slide. Such a a good

m2: Such a fun sli I know some parents have issues with it 'cause you have to walk outside the pool area, but it is such a good slide. So

M1: Then in the sort of main pool. There is, it's I wouldn't call it necessarily 100% like a true lazy river, but there is a part of the pool that is circular like that and has some currents to sort of push you along. You do have to kind of like swim and move yourself a little bit, but it is like lazy river style. You were actually supposed to be able to snorkel in this area.

m2: And you could and you could originally, which is such insane lore. Sadly, nobody who ever did this for the very brief amount of time it was open clearly took a picture. It's like impossible. There's like one grainy photo online. Like you just can't find anything about it. But so cool. That was like their big selling point that you were supposed to be able to snorkel into this ⁓ in this area. They had fish. Turns out unfortunately some of the fish, many of the fish were dying 'cause of like the water and there was getting chlorine in it 'cause there was a different facility and people were like it just did not work out at all. It was deeper also because of the snorkeling. And so then they ended up just taking the fish out and then like reopening it as a pool, which is why it is so, so deep. It's like eight feet deep.

M1: Yeah, you think about it, Disney pools don't really have like deep ends. You know, like if you go to some pools that have twelve foot deep, like Disney doesn't have that. So this is very rare. This like lazy river thing is actually very, very deep. You cannot walk in it. It is, it is, because it doesn't really push you along and it's very deep. They do have floats in there though, which is cool.

m2: It's actually kind of exhausting and a little bit tiring. It Yeah, you need the floats are good, so

M1: But Disney has ⁓ never built another pool at this scale until Lakeshore Lodge. So again, so this sort of nicely ties into our news because they're sort of taking another stab at it now with Lakeshore Lodge. But it's something that makes the beach and yacht club so unique. ⁓ a rule at Disney is that you cannot go to the pool of a resort that you are not staying at. You need to be a guest there. You know, you should follow that rule. Disney doesn't necessarily super enforce that at values or moderates. Well

m2: No, they actually do now. They're checking all my

M1: At values and moderates like not really, but at deluxe ⁓ really.

m2: No, they're checking all the moder it's just a new thing that people came out. They're checking all the moderates at like Riverside and everything. So don't try to pool hop.

M1: Interesting. Okay, well, historically, ⁓ it wasn't necessarily as enforced at the moderates and honestly, not even at most of the deluxe beach and yacht though, you have to get a specific wristband, a different color each day, wristband with your tickets to go in. It is like extremely, extremely locked down because they know how popular it's like a mini water park. I mean, this pool, it's hard to overstate how good this pool is for being a resort pool.

m2: Every day. Yeah. It's it is so good. And there's something kind of this bridges into my next section, which is the fact that this resort was built at a kind of a big transition point for the Disney company. Because when you think back to the original contemporary resort pool, it was, well, there were two. One of them is the Target Pool, best pool ever, still there today. One of them was a square pool and it was just like a literal, like a basic, like a public swimming pool vibe. Because a big selling point of the contemporary was swimming on Bay Lake with these huge beaches they had.

M1: Love that pool.

m2: The Polynesian pool was fun. It had a like a rock formation. It's not the same one that's there today, but had a rock formation and a slide. But a huge selling point of Polynesian was the beach. Even when the Grand Floridian opened, which was I think 1988, they it was the Grand Floridian Beach Resort and you were supposed to swim in the water. ⁓ sadly, swimming in the water wasn't really working out for Disney at the time. There would be certain times of year that like bacteria and algae and things in the water would really spike and people couldn't swim. And so eventually they had to basically put up signs saying like, don't swim. And then way, way, way, way, way later, like twenty years later, they ended up having a a ho a horrible incident that they fully blocked off the water. But the beach and the yacht club were actually built at a time that swimming was still allowed and they were planned with the idea in mind that you could swim. And people actually did like swim in Crescent Lake. I put that in air quotes if you're just listening on audio, because they weren't It was more of like where people would wade in, but they did build out this huge beach area that people could go in the water and swim around in Crescent Lake. ⁓ at the same time, they knew that they were starting to phase this out. Even at the Grand Floridian, pools are becoming more important. And this, I feel like, is the first resort that like really fully focused on having an incredible pool. Cause the Monterey resorts did not have incredible pools at all.

M1: N no. And honestly, that's one of the weaknesses of the Monorail resorts, even today. But having a pool like this creates a lot of challenges. Like Mouse Latoo said, we got to meet with the team that just did a whole technical refurbishment of this pool and hear about it. And you know, this was something that they were doing in 2024, 2025 when they have a lot more access to like technology and stuff.

m2: Yeah. ⁓

M1: This is just a challenging thing to keep up with. It requires a lot of lifeguards. And honestly, it's so popular that like it's always very crowded. It's very big. So it's okay, but it's a I mean, we're staying there on the trip that we are currently on. If you're listening to this on resort day or on release day, and one of the reasons that we wanted to stay there is because we're going in the summer. We want to swim and it has an amazing pool. It seriously is a huge, huge, huge selling point.

m2: But it's good 'cause it's a selling it gets people to book these resorts. So

M1: But it's a hard thing for Disney to build and maintain on such a scale, which is why they haven't done it. And I honestly am a little surprised that they're doing it at Lakeshore Large Lodge, although very excited.

m2: I think they just need like a differentiator for Lakeshore Lodge. ⁓ other things that they have at the beach and yacht club that are sort of like more of the I guess attractions or some of the amenities, you might say. So they also used to have all sorts of boat rentals and watercraft and like fishing excursions. They've kind of dropped down on that the boat rental thing in general. Now it's really just these like sort of pontoony water what are they called? Speed boats? What

M1: I think so too. I think so too. Pontoon I think they're called pontoon boats.

m2: What was our aunt and uncle's boat called though? What's that type of boat called? A powerboat? Is that what it's called? A motorboat. A motorboat. They have like motorboats and stuff, but they don't have a lot of the other stuff. ⁓ they have the Lafferty Place Arcade, the resort arcade. If you're like an arcade, they have one. and they have the Ship Shape Health Club. I love a Disney gym. Don't love this one.

M1: A speedboat? I don't know. A motorboat? A motorboat. Yeah.

m2: ⁓ probably used to be good 'cause it used to be pretty spacious. They've like literally sliced it so it's smaller than like the room I'm in now. Not really, but it's really tiny 'cause they stole space for one of the restaurants. So

M1: We'll talk about that, ⁓ that shortly. But ⁓ basically when it opened, it had Beach Club itself, yacht club itself, the convention center in Stormalong Bay. Then in 2002, they did a big expansion on the beach club side to add the beach club villas. And this introduced DVC. A very random fun fact is that the yacht club is the only deluxe resort at Walt Disney World that doesn't have a DVC counterpart. ⁓

m2: Why?

M1: My assumption is space. Like there's nowhere to really expand the yacht club out because there's a canal and it would hit the Swann and Dolphin when the beach club they had space.

m2: thought it was because it was like so focused on conventions 'cause like contemporary per se doesn't have D V C rooms. B like tower was built. But like that one didn't get those. That's what my guess was.

M1: Maybe, but yeah, they don't have DVC. So we're gonna talk a little bit about how you can stay here later with David's vacation club rentals if you wanna like get a deal. Just know that ⁓ you cannot use that at Yacht Club because there is no DVC to rent. ⁓ but that was sort of the big expansion the resort has had. And then more recently, starting in 2023, they've been starting to do room refurbishments and sort of some other upgrades. And thank God, because we stayed in one of the beach club. Rooms and it needed a little refresher and it's getting it.

m2: It was a little bit sleepy. ⁓ okay, I think the last thing before we get into like some of the current amenities, 'cause I'm itching to talk about ⁓ you know what? Bartha's Vineyard Lounge. ⁓ I do want to just briefly talk about the lobbies because I feel like I have a strong feeling about these two lobbies. Okay. Which one do you think I prefer?

M1: Well I know which one I prefer, and I assume it's the same. Yeah.

m2: What do you prefer? Because the beach club is chaos in there. It is so chaotic. I don't know why, but something about it doesn't feel calming. Like the boardwalk lobby feels calming. The beach club lobby to me like I mean, it has been under construction for a while and I feel like that's kind of what I remember. But like, I don't know. Something about the beach club lobby isn't my favorite.

M1: It's so chaotic. It's so chaotic. I don't either. No, it also, if I remember correctly, has large like pillars in the middle, which just sort of break up the grandness of the lobby. Melsa too and I are both looking up pictures. Beach club, I guess Disney Beach Club Lobby. Let's see, there's some photos of it. Yeah, it has these big pillars.

m2: Yeah, it does. It does. Beach club, lobby. Yeah, it does have huge pillars. I don't know, something about it, I just think like it doesn't feel relaxing. It feels very echoey and like a pass through zone.

M1: It's really echoey. It's all tile in there. It's very echoey and loud. The yacht club, on the other hand, is like carpeted and calming, and I love the yacht club lobby.

m2: There's like spaces to relax and has this big globe with a hidden Mickey on it over down the bottom at the snake. Like it's on the globe. Sea serpent.

M1: The snake. ⁓ my god, you it made it sound like there was a snake in the lobby.

m2: No one on the globe. He's drawn on it. I prefer the yacht club lobby. ⁓ in general, the yacht club lobby is just a little bit more relaxing. You can walk to both. I think you have to pop outside briefly, but like you can walk all throughout the hallways and things. There's restaurants to both of them that we're about to talk about. ⁓ but I'm curious if people agree. I know there's a lot of diehard beach club people. I don't know a lot of diehard yacht club people, I think because it is kind of a more of a convention resort, a little bit. ⁓ okay.

M1: Yeah.

m2: The current amenities. Storm Along Bay. We talked about that one. The Ship Shape Health Club, the smallest gym ever. Better than the contemporary gym, but still low on my list. ⁓ the marina. I mean, you can take the friendship boats and things. There are fireworks cruises, but the marina is pretty minimal. Tennis and pickleball. News to me. Yeah, I didn't know that, did you? Are you check are you fact checking me?

M1: Really? No. I am ⁓

m2: There are walking paths, ⁓ there is skyliner access and then there is obviously like just you can walk to Epcot in Hollywood directly, but

M1: There are tennis and pickleball courts. Near the admirable pool. Interesting.

m2: Yeah, thank you. Yes, there are. Like hello Beach Club There's a yeah, the quiet pool, which we spent a lot of time at. How did you not know that?

M1: Okay, moving on to the dining. So the first restaurant at the Yacht Club is the Yachtsman Steakhouse. This restaurant is currently under renovation, and I honestly really hope that they don't change it too much. I did they reopen it?

m2: I thought they reopened it, no? I thought yeah, I was thinking I don't know, 'cause we're going there and I thought you were gonna like, We have to eat there, but then you didn't say anything, so

M1: No, it's it's closed right now. Yeah, effective through August. Yeah, through August 2026, it's closed. So the Ottoman Steakhouse, personally to me, is not a restaurant that needs a huge refurbishment because it's very like classic inside. It's very like wood, feels like older style New England, like in the best way. And it's a very, very good steakhouse. People argue it as one of the best on property. I've eaten there. I had an amazing experience there.

m2: ⁓ that makes sense of why you didn't book it.

M1: I really hope that they do not change too much when it reopens. I highly recommend it. It's super accessible from Epcot, much calmer, like a great place to go have like a nicer fancy dinner. then we'll get it. Mouse too, we'll get into this in a second, but it has kind of like a detached matching lounge called the Cruise Cup, but I'm getting ahead of myself. The yacht club also has what I think is a fairly underrated restaurant called Alecompass. Ale Compass is always available. If you would like a reservation,

m2: monkey wasn't available.

M1: If you would like a reservation, Ali and Compass is always available for breakfast or for dinner. They have amazing bread there. I really enjoyed their breakfast when we ate it there. I do find it to be a little bit expensive for what it is, but it's a very nice, calm vibe and it had really good food. I I liked it. ⁓ one thing that I think personally the Beach and Yacht Club are lacking in is quick service. Yeah, it's the market at Ailen Compass. you know, it's like it's got like if I remember one of

m2: Yeah. Agreed. Especially the yacht club.

M1: Either this or the Beach Club one has a pretzel bun sandwich. And it's like the most unappetizing thing to me. It's like so mediocre. It just doesn't have a lot of offerings. No, no, it's like stale in my head. Ugh. ⁓ but it just doesn't have a lot going on. Then Beach Club. Beach Club has Cape May Cafe. This is a buffet. It's character dining for breakfast. I think it's not character dining for dinner, but I don't 100% know. I've only ever done breakfast there.

m2: That sounds great, so how funny that you hate that.

M1: But it's character dining with the characters in like beachy outfits. It's a it's a more unique buffet. And then at dinner, I know it has seafood because it kind of always smells like seafood around there, even at breakfast. It just sort of has it just sort of has a seafoody smell. Just keep that in mind. But it's very cute. It's not, in my opinion, like anything to to run to, anything to like write home about. But if you're staying there or in the in the boardwalk area, it's fun. Then

m2: It does.

M1: Beaches and Cream is probably the most iconic here. So Beaches and Cream is like an old-fashioned ice cream soda shop. If you look at pictures of it pre-renovation, as Malsa 2 alluded to, it was so cute. It was small.

m2: There was like a little cutesy like hole in the wall. It was adorable.

M1: They have since expanded it. Again, they took over part of the gym. ⁓ it's not as like cute and quaint anymore. It's still very cute, but it doesn't have the the necessarily full old timey atmosphere. Je ne sais pas. ⁓ but it is like iconic because it has, I mean, it has very good food, but they're known for their huge Sundays, particularly the kitchen sink Sunday. Do you want to talk about the kitchen sink?

m2: Je ne sais quoi. Okay, it's so funny 'cause you wrote kitchen sink story and I'm like, Is this our story?

M1: You wrote that. You wrote that. Yes, you wrote that. Yep.

m2: I wrote that. That's crazy. What was I thinking about? I mean, we have had the kitchen sink before. We went there with Taryn and Mouseless C ⁓ in twenty twenty three and we ordered the kitchen sink. ⁓ I remember what the story was. We ordered the kitchen sink. We ordered the kitchen sink. When you order a kitchen sink, they like let go out this like alarm bell 'cause it's like not a lot of ⁓ it's like a pair of Mickey it's like a plastic bucket but shaped like Mickey pants. It has a little sink coming out of it.

M1: Yeah. So you did write it, you did write it. Wait, explain what it is. It's hu it's like thirty scoops of ice cream. No, no, you're getting confused. You're getting confused at the little mini kitchen sink Sunday that you can get at the plaza in Magic Kingdom. The kitchen sink comes in a giant metal like dish.

m2: What? No I'm not? No ⁓ wait. No, there is a little miniature kitchen sink one too, okay?

M1: That's at the plaza. That's at the plaza. It comes in a giant metal sink.

m2: No, okay, whatever. It's a giant metal sink. Okay, it's in a giant metal sink. Whatever. We've only done it once. Anyway, people we we thought we were unique. We were and that's why we got it. ⁓ my god, that the alarm bell was going off the whole time. Everyone orders it was still fun, but it was like it was also so much ice cream. It like literally wasn't even funny.

M1: It's so much No, it's so much ice cream, but that's what they're known for. However, I do remember that I've gotten a grilled cheese there before that was very good. They have kind of like classic American food. It's a very hard reservation to get. It's very popular and it's Yes.

m2: It's very tricky. You can typically get like a nine PM one and there is a to go window outside too.

M1: Then again, like I said, quick service options here are not my favorite. There's the Beach Club Marketplace. It is extremely mediocre in my opinion. And then at the pool that beach and yacht clubs share, there's Hurricane Hannah's.

m2: Wait, I feel like you glazed over the Beach Club marketplace. That's the quick service inside of there. And like the biggest thing that they have is like some toasters and microwaves in the back. It is it's in the back of a gift shop. It's like they really gotta zhuzh that up. But not but not the weakest. But not the weakest. I'll get there.

M1: It's literally in a gift shop. Yeah. There's it's a we it's a week offering, which is why a quick service restaurant on the what's the weakest? ⁓ okay. ⁓ and then they have Hurricane Hannah's at the shared pool. This is a classic pool bar.

m2: They have these like iconic frozen grapes.

M1: ⁓ my god, Mouselit 2 was like, ⁓ they have frozen grapes. You have to try them. They taste just like ice cream. And I was like, ⁓ my gosh, fun. I'm gonna try them. It tasted like a cold grape. Like it was the most like mediocre thing, disappointing thing I I've ever eaten.

m2: That I said that tastes like ice cream. People always said that to me. All right. Yeah, you were excited. Okay, let's get into the bars and lounges. So I'll start that there's this is what I'm talking about. The Ale and Compass Lounge, ⁓ which is kind of right in the front of the Ale Encompass. I would say that this is the like least well, I I don't want to say the least themed, 'cause that would be a big fat lie. But it's it's more simple. It's more just associated with a restaurant. I'm not obsessed with the Yeah. It it's like a nice spot to just like pop into, but ⁓ nothing

M1: ⁓ this is what you're talking about with the worst one. Yeah, it's kind of like a it feels like a waiting area for the restaurant. We've sat there and like worked before. I don't know that we've

m2: But it's the second best lounge at the Beach and Yacht Club. ⁓ the best lounge is the cruise cup. The cruise cup is like definitely very like hidden gem. It's at well it's right by the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I've never actually been inside of it, ⁓ because I went to bed

M1: By far. Muscle too took a nap when we or yeah, went to bed when we went. It's like inside, it's all like wood. It's kind of it's got like some TVs. I think there's like a little bit of a sports bar vibe, but it feels very nautical. It feels like you're in a yacht club, honestly. Yeah, it's like it's very wooded. It's cute. It's definitely a hidden gem, I would say.

m2: The third one is the opposite of a hidden gem. It's basically a nursing home like cafeteria. Sorry, it's the Martha's Vineyard Lounge. ⁓ the Martha's Vineyard Lounge is like a stain on the Walt Disney company and the Walt Disney Resort overall. And I'm dead serious about that.

M1: If you've listened to this podcast for a while, you know Mouselet 2's feeling towards the Martha's Vineyard Lounge, but I will say, just take a gander at some photos of the Martha's Vineyard Lounge. It could use a little speaking of things that could use a little bit of a refresh, a refurb at the beach club, the Martha's Vineyard Lounge.

m2: It's abysmal. It's abysmal. It's abysmal. It doesn't look anything it doesn't look anything like Martha's Vineyard, to be clear. Inside of it, they have these like kind of green chairs that remind me specifically of the nursing home that our grandma was at, and not in a good way. I think everyone deserved better chairs than that. They have like a couch that looks like it's been there since it opened up. I think it has. There's like a TV. It has no ⁓ vibe. The best thing you can do in there is work before the lounge opens because there's not a soul in there. Even when the lounge opens, it is, do you agree?

M1: It's horrible, yes. And you know what? We were talking about needing places to work. We can work in the Martha's Vineyard Lounge. No one is ever there.

m2: I I'm just like looking at it right now. ⁓ my god, the chairs are awful. It literally has no theme. It's it just looks like the worst hotel. Like, think of the worst hotel you could stay at. Some like random little r I will I will give it this. I actually liked some of the food offerings there and we had a great waiter. ⁓ but the theming in there, I'll say it once and I'll say it again. I could go to home goods and I could fix that place right now with a hundred bucks. It would improve it.

M1: Okay, okay. You know what? You you need to be cut off you need to be cut off. Moving along to the rims. There's so there's the beach club and there's the yacht club, both of which have like standard non DVC rooms available. There's of course the suites I mentioned, there's club level available, etc. And then there's the beach club villa. So that is the DVC side of Beach Club. They have studios, one bedroom, two bedrooms. And this is where, if you're interested in staying here but saving some money. You can rent points with David's Vacation Club Rentals in order to do so. That will save you 30 to 50% on this resort. It's unbelievable savings. These rooms are currently being refurbed if they're not already finished and are going to be brand new, fresh, and look fantastic. Such a great place to stay with that pool. It is truly like one of Disney's best resorts because of the pool.

m2: The proximity to Epca and to MGM and then yeah, the pool being there, like it is despite the Martha's Vineyard Lounge, like it does have Cape Bay Cafe is great. It has really great offerings. And yes, it would just I mean, we got an insane deal, I will say, like, from some like pass holder thing right now. The biggest thing to know about if you want to stay here is literally two weeks ago. Clearly, there was some like availability remaining. We're not in the D V C room, also. ⁓ the DVC rooms just the space is really nice, but

M1: Because specific we booked this trip about two weeks ago 'cause we didn't know that it was happening. Yeah.

m2: You do need to kind of book more in advance. They'll pop up. We've stayed there and it's popped up, but this can be so competitive because how amazing the pool is. If you ever wanted to stay at a deluxe resort and really like use the amenities, this is probably the best or one of the best. So

M1: This is it. The I mean you can truly spend a whole day at that pool. It is like a mini water park. So we recommend booking through David's Vacation Club Rentals. If you go on their website, they have something called the cost calculator. You can put in your dates and you can see what the cost would be. And I always like to remind people that is the cost for your full trip, all taxes and fees included, because you're gonna look at it and think it's for like one night. Mouse two always gets confused.

m2: Genuinely, I was about to say I genuinely am constantly messaging her. I'm like, is this for one night? Because the price is so good that you're like, there's no way that this is for all of the nights. In general, David's Vacation Club Rentals, who we have been renting points from for for years now, like many years. I can't believe we didn't know about it before that because it's been around for so long. But I love renting points from them. You get to stay at different resorts and just

M1: Six years maybe? Yeah.

m2: I think the biggest thing that we've gotten from renting points that we wouldn't have gotten before is that we've tried so many different places. We've tried Animal Kingdom, like places we never thought that we would ever go. We did a cruise, like we've never we just didn't think we would do all of these things, but because we've rented points we actually ended up doing it. So

M1: So I highly recommend just look at their cost calculator. I think you'll be surprised by some of the savings you can get. And I did want to mention David's is an amazing partner of ours. They are hosting a fan cruise next year where a bunch of creators are going to be on a cruise, and you can go on that cruise and join those creators. Sadly, we personally are not able to go. We have something immovable with our family that weekend, but there are amazing creators going. You get to go on a cruise and be with them. They're gonna host special experiences. So if you are a cruiser, which you mean Mouse Lit 2 are, you should absolutely check it out because it's going to be incredible. Anyways, back to the beach club. Let's talk a little bit about our experience. So we have stayed at the beach club on the DVC side in a one-bedroom villa. This is actually gonna be our first time staying at the beach club, not DVC side, right? And then we've stayed at the yacht club, which again doesn't have DVC, just in a room there. When we stayed at the yacht club,

m2: Yeah, it's going to be so fun. Yeah.

M1: And l listen, there are rooms of all kinds, okay? When we stayed at the yacht club, we had to book it through a third party site, I'll just say. And sometimes when you book it through a third party site, you didn't book it direct through Disney. So Disney says, Okay, I'm gonna give you whatever room I have left. Our room

m2: Or or I'm gonna give you a room that's maybe not so not so good. The room was fine. The room is fine.

M1: Not as good. to be clear, David David's Vacation Club Rentals isn't a third party side. I'm talking like Expedia and stuff like that. ⁓ the room V the room itself, gorgeous. The view, we were looking at like like like

m2: Like a backstage dumpster, I think it was like it was actually comically bad. And I'm not even someone who like loves a view, although more and more I feel like I do love a view. But clearly, I mean, we're just like relating to this, the fact that we booked third party. That might not be the case, but they do have different inventory. And I just like think if they were gonna give that room to anyone, 'cause like if you're staying at the yacht club, you sort of have an expectation of something. I mean, they gave it to whoever booked like the worst

M1: Yeah. They had to give it to someone and they saw us and they said, These people will take this view of this literal smokestack dumpster, okay?

m2: They said this is Wait. This room. I loved this room. We stayed here before we went on a cruise on the treasure. So like I always associate those two things together. But this is unrelated. We filmed this funny video to the sound. I like my suitcase. It's like this funny, it was like a funny sound. It was trending them. And it involved me and Mouse Lit One. We need to like repost this video, literally, getting into a suitcase. One of us. A giant suitcase, one of us.

M1: A giant suitcase. With our heads sticking out.

m2: ⁓ and then being wheeled around and singing that song. Okay. I tried to get in one, was being like crushed to death, couldn't do it. Mousel one tried to get in, couldn't do it either. I ended up going in at the end. We broke Mousel C's parents. Mousel A like rolling in her grave right now because she's so mad. I actually agree that you haven't replaced that suitcase for them. You actually need to.

M1: They have plenty of suitcases. We did break their suitcase. We offered to replace it. We broke it. And then my suitcase they we broke as well. We completely ripped the handle off of. I had no handle going on the treasure. Do you remember that? Cause it had no ⁓ handle.

m2: Did you offer? You had to pull it from the top of the suitcase from the little strap. And it was a huge suitcase. ⁓ my god, that was so funny. That's what I associate. But ⁓ in general, I like the yacht club theming more than the DVC rooms, although I know they are redoing them. I'm very curious. We'll give an update about what I think about the beach club room. But I do like the yacht club rooms. They feel very luxurious. They had a great desk to work, make sense of the convention.

M1: It was so bad. I do too.

m2: That totally makes sense. Yeah. And Beach Club also actually has desks. Best restaurant. I'm gonna actually say I really enjoyed breakfast at Cape May Cafe. That being said, it's the only restaurant I've eaten at there, but I did really like ⁓ Beaches and Cream I've eaten at too. I really I got like to go from there. I wouldn't count it as like a true experience. I didn't. I was working in the room. I was working in the room. ⁓

M1: it does, you're right. You have an inner Alan Compass? ⁓ y I sat down and ate there. I think you were working. Yeah.

m2: I really like Cape May Cafe for like a different type of character breakfast. I thought it was really fun. I thought all the food offerings were good. I feel like the character spent a lot of time with us. I I mentioned that moments ago. I think you were busy typing a note potentially in the spreadsheet. I like Beaches and Cream for ice cream. I'm not obsessed with their main menu. I like some of their stuff, like grilled cheese and things, but I like Cape May Cafe, I think, more in terms of food. Very different price though. Cape May Cafe's expensive.

M1: You've eaten up peaches and cream? Okay. ⁓ As someone who's eaten at Yachtsman, Ale Compass, Cape May Cafe, and Beaches and Cream, my recommendation absolutely would be Yachtsman. However, I'm sure it is the most expensive, but it is a very, very, very good steakhouse. I really enjoy it. I think Ale Compass is extremely underrated. If you want to visit these resorts and park there, ⁓ you will need to have a dining reservation. Alecompass is a great one to go to because it's always available and it's very good. Cape May Cafe. I will say the smell of seafood is a little bit tougher for me. I do not eat seafood. ⁓ but yeah, it's a fun experience. And I like Beaches and Cream for what it is. They're all good.

m2: Yeah, I would agree.

M1: Favorite lounge? Okay. Cruise cup. Couldn't be less competition.

m2: I've only ever been to one and so I'll have to say that I don't have a favorite lounge here. I think I've been to Ellen Compass. I don't think I had a drink. ⁓ I have no favorite lounge here. No, actually, I this happens to me that I hate something so much that I love it. That like I literally hate Martha's Vineyard Lounge so much. I despise it with all of my being that now I like love for it and care for it more than any place on property. It rivals trade those Trader Sam's to me with the feeling I have for it because

M1: You hate it so much that you love it. Ha ha ha ha. Okay, you're crazy. You're crazy.

m2: Because I became so obsessed with my hatred for it that I slowly just started loving it. I think we have to visit. We do It's terrible. We'll be there. Well we have to visit.

M1: To be clear, it's horrible. It's horrible. Okay, which is your favorite? Beach or yacht. No no, beach or yacht.

m2: Lounge. ⁓ yacht is my favorite.

M1: I think honestly, yacht might be mine too. I love the beach club, but I the beach club yabby jobby, the beach club lobby just really leaves something to be desired. And I love the like vibe of yacht. It's fine, it's fine. Yes, it's fine. It just isn't that the grandeur of some of the other ones to me. Anything else to say about our beach and yacht club deep dive?

m2: Wow. To be clear, their lobby is actually very nice. It's just a little bit chaotic, so I I think the biggest thing that I'm gonna say about it is that I'm really excited to stay in the beach club regular room because I wasn't crazy about the one bedroom D V C room. To be clear, I totally think that you should stay there because the pool is amazing and the

M1: They were not refurbished yet. They are current they they are being refurbished. They have not been refurbished in a while. They are up for refurbishment. I am

m2: I actually think they are I when we were there I think just the studios had been refurbished, but the one and two bedrooms weren't and I assume now the one and two bedrooms are but

M1: Okay. I'm not sure that they have been, but I am the the refurbishment is going to definitely make these rooms like top of the line.

m2: The one breath room just had like a literal pull out couch and it just felt a little dated. I think the reversion will do wondrous things. But yeah, I I am excited to stay in the regular room. I've never I don't even know what they look like. I'm gonna be totally surprised. We'll film a room tour for sure. So

M1: The regular rooms have been refurbished, me too. I th that will never post, I'm sure, because we film room tours every time and we never post them.

m2: No, we'll we'll post some. ⁓ but yeah, my vote I think is the yacht club but using a lot of the beach club amenities, which you're allowed to because they are sister resorts. So all right, and with that, closing out, anything else?

M1: Let's get into our sp no, let's do our special segment, which today we're going to be talking about our trip itinerary. So, as we said, ⁓ we are currently on a trip. And so at this point, you could have already seen what we've done, but we are flying down Tuesday. We get there in the evening. We're staying at the beach club the whole time, which is nice. I hate a split stay, and we for once don't have a split stay. I do. I do. I can't. I cannot split stay, and we're not, thank God. Wednesday, ⁓ we're hoping and

m2: You have like PTSD from our plastic split stay, yeah.

M1: And at this point you'll know if this happened. But we're hoping that we're gonna wake up and do a little like hot girl walk, maybe around the boardwalk and into Epcot and get to do a little spend a little time in Epcot. Yes, or before we have to work. ⁓ we're both working a full day.

m2: Soren specifically. I Wednesday, I was gonna say working a full day. I have meetings that run until like five fifteen. ⁓ I usually start work at seven, so I have a couple of hours in the morning, which is rare for me that we can actually do that, which will be nice. I also actually ideally would have taken Wednesday off entirely. ⁓ but again, I have that big did I mention this? Maybe it was on sitting on the ground talking. I have a big work interview thing that I have to do. So I'm bringing a blazer, it's like a whole shebang. I'm sure Mouse Lit One will post it in the story. ⁓ at least in Close Friends. m2: I think definitely Thursday night we'll probably be at the beach club. We need to spend time at the beach club pool for sure. I actually prefer that pool at nighttime by far.

M1: Yeah, like we're s Well the one time that we did swim there, it was like a hundred something thousand degrees out and so the pool was very hot.

m2: Why do I did we just stay there? ⁓ no, we just filmed that whole video about it. I was gonna say, why do I feel like I was just there? ⁓ okay, the next day, Thursday, we're both ⁓ no, you only have to work three days. I forgot because you're only back to work part time right now. I have to work in the morning. I think that I will probably will be at Epca. I will probably just bring my computer into connections. I don't have any meetings. I blocked off time for like the afternoon to take it off. I've taken many a calls and connections. I probably will be working in there.

M1: I said the world's my oyster. I'll be enjoying Epcot and we're gonna be in Epcot in the morning and then we're gonna hop to Hollywood Studios, which we're super excited for. The only park that we got lightning lanes for was Hollywood Studios because we really wanna be able to do Muppets Rock and Roller Coaster, assuming the line is gonna be incredibly, incredibly long. So we're going to do that. Then we have some lightning lanes for

m2: I watched a P I watched a POV of it. I smiled it for my ⁓ I just I was like literally it was like I haven't seen a POV, I haven't seen one I was like, This is actually best case scenario and then someone posted one and I said, I have to watch it. So I'm gonna tell you everything that happens.

M1: ⁓ my god. Why? We're literally going on it in like two days. Okay, I have not seen it. Okay, you be surprised? No. We are going we have Toy Story Mania and Tower of Terror lightning lanes booked as well. I wouldn't say that like those are top priority. If we end up doing them, great if we don't Okay, well one of them is currently like 7 45 PM. So sure. No. And I was just thinking today that it might be nice to eat a brown turpe.

m2: No, I think they're they're top priority for me. I insist on doing them. Okay. Can I ask a question? Did we book a single dining reservation? Yeah, I wouldn't mind grabbing any reservation at any of these nights.

M1: Literally anywhere. Yeah, that would be nice. ⁓

m2: Okay, the next day ⁓ you know what we could do? The next day we're going to Magic Kingdom in the morning, taking the day off from work. we could do a breakfast of magic. That could be fun. Is Cinderella Ro is Cinderella's Royal Table available? 'Cause that's actually all right, let's try to get that. ⁓ obviously guess it's not available, but when there's a will, there's a way. Let's see if it is. ⁓ but we're going to Magic Kingdom in the morning. And then in the afternoon we have an event that we can't talk too much about it, but we'll tell you about it after we do it next week. Excited, we have themed outfits. We'll see how they go. M1: That could be fun. So does there a table available? I would love to do that. We'll see how they turn out.

m2: Sorry, it's nine fifty PM ⁓ the night before we leave. I have a themed outfit packed in my suitcase. She has boxes of stuff.

M1: Right next to me that we're gonna try and put together after this podcast. But this event is the whole reason that we're even going down. That's why this is a trip that we haven't talked about as much. It came together very quickly. It's really because of this event. We're super, super excited to go and like share more about it once we're actually there. But it's a very different type of trip for us. We are leaving at the literal crack of dawn on Saturday morning because it is our family's annual trip to Rehoboth Beach.

m2: ⁓ also I l I lied. I told you that it was thirty minutes later than it was just 'cause I wanted to ensure that you agreed to it. So we're actually living thirty minutes earlier. I told mom and dad that when I was doing it and they were all and everyone we all agreed that we would do that. No, but I'm saying I told them that I was gonna tell you the flight was thirty minutes later just so you felt more comfortable with the wake up time.

M1: Are you joking? But are are mom and dad on that flight or am I on that flight? And I was actually really hesitant about even that time. So I'm actually Hang on one moment.

m2: You didn't wake up at five. I wake up at five every morning. Don't boo. Don't boo. I wake up at five every morning. Just wake up at five.

M1: This was unacceptable of you. We have to be at the airport at like five thirty.

m2: Yeah. Wake up at like five. How how much time do you need to get ready?

M1: Anyways, we're leaving it before the crack of dawn. Don't dawn will not have even cracked yet, and we'll be on our way because it's our family's annual trip to Rehoboth Beach, and ⁓ we didn't want to miss a day there. So it's a really short trip, but we will be sharing so much in stories. This is the first trip Mouse Lit 2 and I have taken, just the two of us, since last August. So it's gonna be like an iconic classic sh quick little mouse lit strip, a return, a return to the OG.

m2: A return. I just wish we weren't I really, really, really wish we were not working. I'll just say that. All right.

M1: It's literally my third day back at work, so I couldn't really take it off.

m2: I couldn't take it off 'cause I have a big work thing, otherwise I definitely would have taken it off. So I mean that being said, I obviously I'm gonna have to work on Thursday and Friday as well. But pit and peach. My pit is that I've been so stressed recently for undescribed reasons, work, that I'm literally giving myself like major like stomach issues. Like I just feel sick and ⁓ it's 'cause of my stress. It's my pit.

M1: My pit is that I haven't started packing for the trip that we leave on tomorrow, nor for the trip to Rehoboth.

m2: That's such a good bridge into my peach. My peach is that I am done with packing and it feels amazing. Don't

M1: My peach is that I cleaned my office and it's all fresh to start for work. It feels so good. Muscle T's doing a big yong. It just feels so good and so fresh. I've checked so many things off my to-do list ⁓ and this is one of them and I'm feeling amazing about it.

m2: Nice. You're doing amazing, sweetie. Okay, my fact of the day is what I did my YouTube video on this week is that there are multiple sinkholes at Epcot, and one of them was located near the Odyssey restaurant or where they planned to put the Odyssey restaurant. And so they had to relocate the Odyssey. And if you don't know what the Odyssey is, it's the building that h housed the Epcot experience. It's like a little now it's like little festival building, I guess. ⁓ they to move the Odyssey so off the beaten path because of the sinkhole that eventually it just failed in po because it wasn't popular because no one wanted to walk to it. That's my fact.

M1: My fact is in doing research for a YouTube video, I came upon footage from the opening day of Muppet Vision 3D. And I did not know that they used to have walking versions of Kermit. No, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie, the entire Dr. Teeth and the Electric May handpint. I don't remember that. A walking Kermit? ⁓ I know.

m2: Giant Kermit Miss Piggies, you didn't know that? They were in the Disney Stars with Motor Cars parade. ⁓ they were huge. Yeah, and a walkie miss piggy, they were giant. Yeah. They were huge.

M1: I just saw them. They were absolutely giant and it's like crazy to see. I will say all of them were so good, except Kermit wasn't spot on to me. Miss Piggy was so good. Gonzo was so good. Yeah, he's thick. And so his neck isn't really like the right shape.

m2: ⁓ Kermit worked for me. He was a he's a little thicker. Well I mean Kerma has a very narrow neck with the puppet, but if he's larger then he can't. ⁓ okay, that is that is wrapping it up, guys.
