speaker-1: Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Sister Sisters Toy Story Edition.

speaker-2: Toy Story 5 comes out tomorrow if you're listening to this on the day that it releases. And we said it's time for us to be in our Toy Story era and to dive into all things Toy Story. So we're doing a full Toy Storyland ⁓ deep dive today because we are a Disney Parks podcast. So that was like a perfect little connection.

speaker-1: I gonna say it's time for us to be timely about something because constantly it's like, ⁓ it's Mickey's birthday, and we'll have posted like something completely random. So we'll post about like the water parks. We're like, ⁓ darn, we missed that one. So it's time for us to be timely. I'm excited. We have so much good stuff to talk about. But first we have a couple of little life updates, a little chit chat, and then we'll get into the meat.

speaker-2: My life update is that this is my last week of parental leave before I go back to work. Someone hit the boo button.

speaker-0: oooo

speaker-2: I'm sad. And so I have like a whole hit the boo button.

speaker-1: Someone button, it's just me here.

speaker-2: I have a whole list of things that I'm trying to get done before I go back to work. And one of them, if you're watching on video, you can see is that my Disney pins have been on this table for what, three months, four months? ⁓ every episode, and they loom over me. You can kind of see one of my pin boards right there. They loom over me. And I'm trying to finally organize them. I got half done the other day. But what's remaining is all of my like Disney Parks pins, which there are just so many of. It's like it's fun, but it's it's sort of daunting. I can't wait till they're more organized and then it's a better well. Mine will be there soon and I can't wait. So that's like one thing on my list, which cause I this is where I take work calls and I don't really need like a million Disney pins. I'm like, wait, is this Olaf usually behind me in work calls?

speaker-1: Yeah.

speaker-2: But no, the camera is my laptop camera, which is to the side. The Olaf isn't visible.

speaker-1: Embarrassing. Do you use a green screen for work calls? ⁓ I use it like at my company background, like green screen, and like sometimes things like pop up.

speaker-2: I was gonna say I fear that Olaf would like pop through the So the next thing is the playroomslash office is officially in progress. They came today to start removing the wallpaper, which ⁓ my god, watching the guy literally like tear away the pieces of wallpaper, I was like, this is such a job that I am so good that I am not personally doing. ⁓ but I wanna add Disney touches and I can't really decide on like how to do that. I like

speaker-1: So embarrassing. I would like Yeah, here's my thought. I think a little touch of circus, a little touch of like Dumbo and Circus is so cute for a playroom. That's my vote.

speaker-2: That's cute. The colors are like blue and yellow.

speaker-1: Also I think you could kinda do Peter Peter Pan, like second star to the right. That could be fun. Peter fine. That could be good. I have a lot of ideas.

speaker-2: Nelson too and I are both getting ready because our family's annual trip to Rehoboth Beach, which is in Delaware, where our parents have a beach house, is coming up. I'm getting so excited. Last year I was like two months pregnant, I remember napping on the couch constantly and just like I couldn't play pickleball with the fam. Like I was just so exhausted. ⁓ So I'm excited to be back in a not pregnant state and like do all the fun things, ⁓ bring the micklet. This is gonna be first time on the beach. I don't know what he's gonna think of like saying doing

speaker-1: Gonna despise the heat.

speaker-2: Well the heat he was okay with in Florida. Yeah, I I I might get him a little pool or a little like something, I feel like.

speaker-1: It's in like a bucket even. He said he rolled over today, so I got him a pack and play in preparation. He didn't roll over, he used a little like wooden stick to roll over.

speaker-2: A bucket. Yeah, but like he could do that in his bassinet. Like he put his foot on the thing and pushed himself over. So technically that he's not supposed to sleep in a bassinet anymore. So I bought him a pack and play so that when we travel he can sleep in that. There's well, yes, he doesn't need it. He doesn't need it in Rehoboth because Mama and Papa Mellet bought a crib. But I'm so excited for Rehoboth. Are you getting excited?

speaker-1: I am. I'm I have a wedding this weekend and then after that we'll get into that in a minute. So I need to pack a bag, drop it off at our parents' house so they can bring it down 'cause I don't want to fly with a giant bag because I'm flying somewhere soon. Get to it in a minute. Anything else to talk about before I get into did I talk about the fact that I ran over a snake with the lawnmower last week?

speaker-2: You did. I was gonna say you did. So delete that from the spreadsheet.

speaker-1: And I'll delete that. ⁓ we've been thinking though about like improving our outside a little bit, getting our chimney worked on today. The woman who did our chimney, like she's

speaker-2: Whip mouse lit A saw a sign for a female chimney sweep. Yes. I'm calling that woman. She's been so excited. She told me today my female chimney sweep is coming. I was like

speaker-1: own chimney business and we spent yeah. And they were chatting today. She said that and she brought her nephew and they were and she said that our chimney was in such terrible condition that they could literally which we knew 'cause that's why we're getting work on it, that they literally didn't even need tools to take it apart. They could just knock it over with their hands.

speaker-2: Th she knocked over your chimney with her hand?

speaker-1: Top part, yeah, and with her nephew as well. there's also like a handyman at my house. There was a lot of work going on at my house today. We're kind of thinking, being inspired about like we're gonna get a table. Anyway, one of the things I'm on my stock stock tank pool game. We have ⁓ like a hill in our backyard, and then our backyard is kind of like a like a garden almost. It has like this really pretty stone wall on these stairs, like it's very pretty. But we have septic and the leech field takes up like almost our entire backyard s except for a little corner which is like adjacent to a wall. All that to say that we couldn't put in a pool, like even just like an above ground one right now, without relocating septic, which would be so expensive and like we're just not that's not gonna be a priority. We have other things that are priorities. And so I've been seeing all this stuff on Instagram about these stock tank pools, which are

speaker-2: I'm on stock tank pool talk. Like stock tank pools are all over my TikTok right now.

speaker-1: Well yeah, because I've been seeing them all and giving them to you in your algorithm. Anyway, we're considering getting that. But it would be next year probably. ⁓ my other story before we get into something actually that's actually interesting. Here's my ready, I'm gonna give you so you listen to the story, I'll give you a little teaser. We're going to Disney soon. Okay, we're going to Disney in like a week. But here's my story. I walk into work.

speaker-2: Because the fact that you had to just give that teaser because you know this story is so boring.

speaker-1: to work today. Now it sounds even more it's just like, ⁓ I built it up to be the most boring thing ever. And like had I not, you might have actually enjoyed this. I walk into work today. ⁓ I'm a manager and so I have a couple employees looking at one of my employees' desks. A see a ceiling tile. Ceiling towel.

speaker-0: so excited. What? everyone. story.

speaker-1: the bin under it to catch the water. And I cleaned up the pile of pieces and freed her desk down. Left everything else on the floor. They're gonna pick it all up. Said can you contact the building? And they came

speaker-1: Guys, we're going to Disney. We're going to Disney. If you're listening to this on the day it released, we're going to Disney on Tuesday. Okay, so we're almost in Disney. This trip kind of came about very suddenly, and it's literally what I would call like a business trip because we're either working for work or we're working for mouse lits. We're like not doing I mean we're gonna do some fun stuff, obviously, on our own, but like it's more of like a work trip than ever. I look like We look

speaker-0: Guys, I've been f-

speaker-2: started Mouse Latua's like I really want to have some really good clips from the podcast to post on Instagram and now this is what we look like. Story because of your story. Anyway

speaker-0: Mr.

speaker-1: I guess you did like that story after all.

speaker-2: Okay. So this is actually gonna be Mind and Mouse Two's first trip as just sisters in almost a year. The last one was in August of twenty twenty five. And so we aren't gonna be there for very long at all. It's literally like

speaker-1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Yeah.

speaker-2: And again, we're working remote, but we're going because we have an event with Disney, which we're super excited about. We're gonna talk more about it like when we can, but this is very rare for us. And so we're so excited that we get to go. we had actually so much trouble. Granted, we were booking like two weeks in advance. We had so much trouble finding a hotel. When I

speaker-1: Well, we wanted to rent D V C points. ⁓ but a lot of times like you gotta be a little bit more in advance for that. And we're going really weird days. The biggest thing is we're going Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night. Like just not days that would really be available that often. So we

speaker-2: Especially not two weeks in advance. Like it was so

speaker-1: It was like month in advance, but ⁓ Bailey Tower was available for like half of it, but then we would have to change resorts and we're just like I don't know. And so we didn't book that 'cause it didn't make sense and in the end there was no availability to rent D V Codes or even use our own if we wanted to.

speaker-2: when I was first looking there were like a couple resorts that were tempting. Specifically, I remember Wilderness Lodge was one of them, but there was another two. What? That no, listen, they were available, but they both of these, whichever the second resort was, they only had rooms with a king bed available. No, I didn't want to share King Bed with you. So we did we didn't book those. We were considering heavily swan and dolphin

speaker-1: Are you kidding?

speaker-2: I actually don't know why we didn't book that at the time. I think we got overwhelmed and just sort of closed all of the tabs. Yeah.

speaker-1: Yeah, we didn't fuck anything. So I go on probably like what last week maybe and I'm like, What's avail what's available? What pops okay, nothing is available, just to be clear. Like literally almost nothing. She's like, Ooh, that would be good, but we're not renting a car and we like to have a car when we stayed at Portland's Riverside 'cause it's pretty big and we don't want to rent a car for this trip because of like the event we're doing and all

speaker-2: There's actually nothing available. Especially right now because it's so hot. Portaline's Riverside is just a big resort that's very outside to be walking around when it's like that.

speaker-1: Portalines Riverside is like is my home. Anyway, Beach Club popped up with a giant, like pass holder, somehow, some discount. Huge. Like I've never seen Beach Club that cheap. Ever. And so we booked it, which is actually kind of perfect because we're going to be working remote and I have a really, really important thing in Wednesday. And so Mouse Lit One is going be working from the solarium. I have a giant thing. Yahya R. Yahya.

speaker-2: We'll see. But that has like an amazing pool, which will be so fun in like the heat of summer, obviously, to get to go into that pool. It's so convenient to be able to just walk into Epcot. ⁓ on and so we're gonna probably go to Epcot one day and then we can take the Skylander to Hollywood really easily. It just worked out very, very well. I feel like we got so lucky because again, when we had looked earlier, like really nothing was available, just these random things with king king bags.

speaker-1: It's making me kind of emo, because after that we'll be in Disneyland for D twenty three. I have my honeymoon and then Disneyland. I'm like, ⁓ my god, I'm not gonna be at Disney World for so long after. I feel like maybe we'll go at the beginning of September. Something is telling me that we'll be going to Disney at the beginning of September.

speaker-2: ⁓ did we have something booked then?

speaker-1: might be heading down. But anyway, before we get into all of the fun toy story stuff, let's get a little bit of news.

speaker-2: There is currently no festival at Epcot, which honestly for me is a big

speaker-1: You need to be able to enjoy the park for what it is.

speaker-2: No, I'm sad about that. But because of that, they like want to have the Odyssey open, which if you don't know, the Odyssey is the building that's kind of between like Test Track and Mexico, ⁓ where the baby care center and first aid is. And it during the festivals, it's always themed as something. But right now, since there's no festival, they clearly wanted to have it open because it gives people a place to sit in air conditioning. So they turned it into what they're calling the light lounge. And it's like No The light part of it is like s it's it looks like sort of spaceship earth with different colors, like refracting light, kind of. They're serving extremely random food and drinks in my opinion. ⁓

speaker-1: I gotta like that. I d none of them are enticing. You say them and I'll I'll rank ⁓

speaker-2: ⁓ I sent you Okay, I s I will say I sent you a reel of one of these 'cause I thought it looked good. Okay, number one. Number one. Chicken strips with French fries.

speaker-1: Zero boo blame. Good for some people, but not for me.

speaker-2: Number two, apple caramel churro bites with vanilla dipping sauce. That could be

speaker-1: good. That's caramel is sort of reminds me of the god awful apple macchiato from Starbucks. I know the one ordered and it tasted spoiled. We tried it, we said, ⁓ my god, this is rancid and she said she brought it back to

speaker-2: ⁓ my god. The Barfiato. The Barfiato. They made they use spoiled milk.

speaker-1: We said, I just wanna let you know. It was more of just to let them know that like they were using spoiled milk. We went back and we're like, I'm so sorry, we never do this. This has this is wrong with this. And so they made us a completely new one and it tasted the same because that's just what the drink tasted like. Even Mouse Let C could barely drink it.

speaker-2: Boy. And then just to be sure later in the day, this was in New York City, we passed a different Starbucks and we got another one just to like triple check that it wasn't the location. And guys, it seriously smells like barf. It's the most appalling thing I've ever experienced. It's like

speaker-1: The bar drop I ate in Paris. Anyway, that sounds decent. I think I we might try that.

speaker-2: Okay, and I saw something online that said that the churros were actually really good, like Disneyland level churros. So I'm tempted. The third thing, caramel popcorn churro bites, which is caramel churros with kettle corn and caramel sauce.

speaker-1: I don't love kettle corn, honestly. I'm not a huge kettle corn girly. I bet that will find its people, but for that's like a mid.

speaker-2: I I'm curious. And then a frozen fruit slush with cotton candy and a glow cook cube. That sounds like something Mousewood Three would like.

speaker-1: That's so mouse at three. He loves like cotton candy ice cream. Like super so makes sense because it is cool, could summer. So

speaker-2: I'm kidding. Yes. So they also I guess there used to be this like streetmosphere type performance by Max and Adar. I'm sorry if I'm saying that wrong. That was in World Celebration and now they've moved it in here. It's like a comedy jugglers with like spinning plates and stuff. It's cute. I wouldn't mind checking it out for some AC at some point. Yeah. So anyways, the light lounge is open while there is no festival at Epcot.

speaker-1: All right, you do the next one 'cause I the third one is something I know a lot about.

speaker-2: Okay, the next one is that the new baby giraffe, whose name is Ivy, has now officially been brought to Kilimandaro Safaris. The giraffe is my favorite animal on the safari. Baby giraffes are like my ultimate favorite. ⁓ we're gonna be in Disney very soon. I guess we're not going to Animal Kingdom. Well, maybe we will. Maybe we will end up there. I hope we do. I would love to get to see her. I absolutely love a baby giraffe.

speaker-1: That's exciting. I do love the baby animals there. So ⁓ okay, the third thing. After July 4th, Disney is making a very big change at Disney Springs. And they actually tested this out during spring break as well. But basically, if you want to take one of the buses from Disney Springs to a resort, you need to have proof of a reservation, proof of like a special event, ⁓ an active like hotel reservation. And yeah, if you don't have one of those things, you're not gonna be allowed on the bus. Why, you might ask. It's not about cracking down on the resorts as much as it is cracking down on the people who are trying to use it as a free parking hack. Disney already knows that this free parking thing is a and I'll s I'll die on the sale. It's a waste of your time to try to get free parking. It's just like it it is. But if you go to the water parks, you could only take a bus to like court ⁓ you could take a bus to Coronado because it's not next to ⁓ one of the parks or The all stars, but you can't take it to Pop because that can take the Skylander. If you want to take it to one of those ones, you have to transfer Animal Kingdom.

speaker-2: It's actually so annoying to get to a water park if you don't have a rental car and you aren't staying at one of those like handful of resorts. Mouse Latoo and I experienced this sometime I don't I think it was last year.

speaker-1: It was like good animal kingdom. We're like what?

speaker-2: It was when we almost it was when we almost got electrocuted. It was when we almost got electrocuted at Typhoon Lagoon. And it was pouring rain and we were like desperate to get out of there. And their buses were were cr it was so bizarre.

speaker-1: Anyway, so Disney knows that this free parking thing is a problem. ⁓ Disney Springs, the buses don't even start running until like ten AM. It's still an issue. I mean, people will do anything to park for free, I guess. So it is unfortunate for the people who don't it's sort of a niche population who genuinely want to go and enjoy the resorts and don't have an annual pass. ⁓ and aren't staying on site already. Like It's because it's kind of a niche group. You're staying off site without an annual pass and you wanna go to the resorts on like an off park day. I mean, there's actually a I guess there's a group of people who would do that.

speaker-2: Because if you don't know, like you can't just drive up to the Grand Floridian and say, Can I park here? Like you're not allowed to do that because there's limited parking and they need to save it for the guests. So you would need to go park at the T T C but then you're paying to, you know, the parking rate because it's like you're going to Magic Kingdom or something. And so people go to Disney Springs. It makes sense, but I also understand Disney's

speaker-1: I guess here's my thing, if this affects you, because it probably like hypothetically it could have affected us when we used to stay off site if we wanted to go do whatever, go to the resort. If you're planning to do like a bunch of resort days and you're gonna do that, just plan to do a meal. Plan to do even like a little quick service lunch or something like that. Just plan to do something like that and it won't be that big of a deal. But that is the news. It is now time to get into the main segment. In honor of Toy Story Five coming out on Friday, we are doing a Toy Story Land deep dive because honestly, this land and Toy Story in general has ⁓ so much lore. So much lore.

speaker-2: So the first iteration ever of like a Toy Storyland was Toy Story Playland. And let's be very clear about the differentiation in those names, okay? At Disneyland Paris. This was announced in 2009 and it was part of like promotions for Toy Story 3. Toy Story Playland, we've talked about before, but in case you have not listened to those episodes, it has three rides. One of them is like if you've ever been to a fair or like a carnival that has a Himalaya ride where there's basically cars going in a circle going up and down, it has a slinky dog dash version of that. Then it has like a little, you know, bungee dropping thing that's like green army men themed. And then it has an

speaker-1: shoot drop. It's like the jump and jellyfish thing at Disney's California Adventure, if you know that.

speaker-2: And then it has RC Racer, which is literally like a half circle shaped track and he goes up either side. It is, as Mouse Lit too and I like to say, ranky dank. Okay. It just is.

speaker-1: Ranky Dank. Okay, the reason that they added this to Disneyland Paris or the Walt Disney Studios Park in general is what we got into about how Walt Disney Studios Park was bombing. I mean, it had like literally nothing. And what they needed to do was just bring in some IP intellectual property and do it cheaply. And Toy Story 3 was coming out, so it's like that was good timing. Toy Story in general, this was their first Toy Story land, which is like kind of crazy to think about. Easy to kinda execute in sort of a cheap way and they were able to literally order carnival rides and re-theme them to Toy Story Land. So like it made for a very perfect land. I the first time we went into that land, I remember just being like

speaker-2: We were Where No, we literally were like, What is this? It just I mean, it feels very kind of, you know, ch cheap budget

speaker-1: know more about it. It doesn't bother me as much, but the first time we went in it, we didn't understand. It was brutal.

speaker-2: It did not feel up to like a typical Disney caliber land, I would say. They they then brought that exact land pretty much to Hong Kong in 2011 and Shanghai in 2018. I did not know that until I wrote this. I am shocked that they would bring that land anywhere else. It is, interestingly, it is called Toy Story Land in both of those parks. It's not called Toy Story Playland, but it's pretty much the same. The Shanghai one has like a slightly different ride that's more like meters, junkyard, jamboree in Carsland, but like it's basically the same.

speaker-1: What I was gonna say is this is the same thing that happened at Hong Kong because when I was looking this up, I found an article from November of 2011 and it said Toy Storyland hopes to save Hong Kong. Woody and the gang might just put magic back in the kingdom for the less than popular Hong Kong Disneyland. This was like a band-aid. They built this like Andy's backyard thing, but it truly was just a little band-aid that they knew they could do it cheap, but people would like it because people like Toy Story. So that just kind of goes to speak about what they had done with Toy Story. as far as the full land. But there were other things that were going on at the other parks that they that they were doing. You know, they weren't just doing the Toy Story Lands. And in fact, the Hollywood Studios Toy Story Land wasn't announced at D until D twenty three in twenty fifteen and didn't actually come out for a couple of years after that too.

speaker-2: But so before we sort of dive into Toy Storyland itself, let's rewind a little bit and look at the history of Toy Story at MGM specifically, because it actually had like a big presence there over the years. So when Toy Story itself first came out, Toy Story was released in 1995. They created a parade called the Toy Story Parade, which ran for like two years at MGM. ⁓ looking at this parade, it was so interesting. It was very, very detailed. So it started off with a green army float led by Serge. Fun fact that float later became the giraffe float at Festival of the Lion Kings. So weird. I didn't know. I know, but look at the picture that I put in here. You can like kind of tell.

speaker-1: Weird. That's so bizarre. Another thing about this parade in general was that they released it like literally before Toy Story came out or like on the day. So no one even knew who all these things were. I guess they knew the toys generally, but like just kind of a funny fact about it.

speaker-2: Yeah. Then there was a giant walking slinky dog. There was a float that had a talking ham and Mr. Potato Head standing on a bunch of board games. Also, like when you look at pictures, it was so like nineties, like the vibe.

speaker-1: It gives ideas. We'll put them in stories on Instagram.

speaker-2: They had the Barrel of Monkeys game walking, then Buzz had a float, he was standing on top of like his spaceship box with a bunch of the aliens from Pizza Planet. They had a driver in a little Hot Wheels car with a really creepy looking Bo Peep. Yeah, like creepy Bo Peep and a creepy and a creepy troll doll.

speaker-1: Creepy as breath. I dress up as a troll doll as for Halloween in college, you know that? No. Not in like a cute way, in like a ugly way on purpose.

speaker-2: Similar to this troll doll that was in the parade because he's creepy. And then the last float in the parade was Woody with like Rex and the tape recorder machine and the little binoculars. It was very cute. It lasted for like two years. And then when that parade ended its run, they started doing very briefly these things called Toy Story weekends. They brought all the floats to Streets of America. They'd perform a little show called Operation Toy Story. And then the floats kind of like, they were done with that.

speaker-1: Over the years though, there were like smatterings of other Toy Story things. They had a whole kind of like playhouse type thing come over to Tomorrowland at Disneyland. I mean, Woody and Buzz would have like periodic meet greets. The Disney Stars and Motor Car parade, which ran from two thousand and one to two thousand eight, my literal favorite parade ever. The best parade ever. They had a Woody and Buzz, ⁓ I think it was Woody and Buzz in there, right?

speaker-2: They were yeah, they were on a car shaped like Andy's bed, which I actually would love to see a picture of 'cause I can't fully remember.

speaker-1: I bet mom took one. But the other thing that they had that kind of was like big, big Toy Story presents. And this could have been really cool. If Disney had done this right, this could have been so cool, but they didn't. They had when the park opened up, MGM Studios opened up, they didn't have Star Tours, they didn't have Muppets, but like two years after those areas kind of opened up, they were a little bit sparse. But they had something called this this what was it? The Sunset Sunshine Show. The studio showcase, not sunshine. Ignore the word sunshine. The studio showcase. Sunshine. Sunshine. The studio showcase. Right by Muppets, right by the bathrooms. You might know it as like what was Pizza Rizzo eventually. ⁓ and it was like prop displays and like a gift shop. I think it was like kind of always meant to be sort of a temporary space. That's sort of how it seems to me. Not a lot of people documented it, which makes me think there wasn't much interesting about it. But In nineteen ninety six, so only a couple years after that opened, they turned it into the Toy Story Pizza Planet Arcade, right across from Muppet Vision 3D, just sort of like in the middle of nowhere. It makes sense though, because Toy Story has that super cool restaurant, Pizza Planet. The theming is amazing. Like it's so fun. This wasn't anything like it though. ⁓ I will say, we never went in there. I don't think I can picture it, but I think it might be from pictures.

speaker-2: Even picture it. No, I literally cannot even picture it. We never went inside. This is one of those things. This is one of those things. That's the last. Yes. That our family just never did for some reason. I literally can't even picture it. Even though it ultimately became Pizza Rizzo. And if you know me in Mouselit too, so

speaker-1: Compl it looked completely different though. It looked completely different. I busted a picture.

speaker-2: Well that's

speaker-0: I'm gonna go to

speaker-2: We love Pizza Brazil. Wow. See, I've no no, we never went in there. I'm looking at it

speaker-1: Never ever ever went in there. It was like an arcade as well. It was just kind of random. The outside of the building, I mean, the outside of the building was themed well, kind of as like a a water department building. It just didn't make sense here. I guess they did it because they wanted to serve pizza in the park. Eventually they re themed it to Pizza Rizzo, best restaurant ever, which they have now closed. I don't even know what they're doing with that space too. So

speaker-2: Well, the Pizza Planet theme will come back because Pizza Planet in the movies is so iconic. Like there's so much to draw from that it kind of was weird that they built a Pizza Planet that didn't actually look at all like what was in the movie. This will come back into play in ⁓ Toy Storyland itself. So we'll talk a little bit about that. But next up.

speaker-1: They opened up the park, as I said, it was just Hollywood Studios initially was sort of a smattering of like weird things. And one of those sort of weird things was this walkway called Mickey Avenue. It connected you from where one man's dream was all the way over to the entrance of the back lot tour by the big Coca-Cola bottles. I feel like it's very hard for people to remember what like MGM looked like then. Today this area is Municiberg, if you know what that is, which I don't think anyone does. It's the Pixar Place area. So they had Mickey Avenue and then in two thousand eight they changed it to Pixar Place. Because they were going to add Toy Story Mania and that's where the entrance was, I believe, in the old Who Wants to be a Millionaire building.

speaker-2: ⁓ yeah. Or I threw up in front of. I miss it. Where you threw up in front of? Never forget. Jojo Circus. Jojo Circus. If you know, you know. So the ⁓ like entrance that said Pixar with the bricks was modeled after the real Pixar Studios. Those were like the exact same color bricks, the real Pixar Studios, the you know, of course the Pixar font and everything. This land's only attraction was Toy Story Mania. We're gonna deep dive on Toy Story Mania in a minute, but it did have like a dedicated buzz buzz and woody, which when I was writing this document. The number of times that I wrote Wood and Buzzy, every single time for some reason I was writing Wood and Buzzy. But you'll see.

speaker-1: So you wrote Tori's story like ten times in this document, do you realize that?

speaker-2: No, Woody and Buzz meet and greet, but then this is some

speaker-0: M-m-m-m-mouse foot snore

speaker-1: A Lord, this was iconic. Because the part of Pixar was like the production studio aspect. And so they had all these words on the bricks and one of them was lighting. I think that word might still be today or no, I don't know if the word is there, but the door is because they had a special little miniature show with a dancing Luxo lamp animatronic.

speaker-2: He would come out of this little door. The door's still there. It's like on the left side up high. And the Luxolamp Animatronic would come out and like do a little dance. Okay. Again, did we ever see this with our own eyes? No, but I've I've now seen it online.

speaker-1: I've seen it many times online.

speaker-2: There ended up being like a big controversy that Pixar got into, like a legal battle with Luxo, the company Luxo that makes those lamps. Yes, Luxo like sued Pixar in some way. I don't really know the details, but ultimately it meant that they could no longer have this Luxo animatronic show. And so they're

speaker-1: But they were able to keep Luxo in the beginning of the Pixar thing. I just can't understand that. This is genuinely what happened though. It's so

speaker-2: Makes no sense. But so they couldn't do the show anymore. So they just like stopped bringing the animatronic out, but he's still back there behind those doors. He was back there. And Mouslit A, guys, is sick about this. I'm sure listening to this right now, she's like screaming and crying thinking of the lucky-

speaker-1: ⁓ Like he just wants to say hi, he just wants to do his dance. We try to tell her when they built when they built Pixar Purit. But like he's up there because there is a Luxo lamp up there. It's the same one, Mouse Leday. ⁓ But anyway, that was all that like the Pixar place really had. It had these like iconic like scrabble boards and it was themed.

speaker-2: They brought him over. It's not. It's not. The Scrabble board is iconic to because we loved Scrabble at that time. We'd like play with our mom and godmother. So we were obsessed with the Scrabble tiles. And I think there was like a like little shop areas and like a little tiny remember there was that like random Jesse eatery. Yeah.

speaker-1: Yeah, like a little stuff. Yeah. But in general it was pretty small and they didn't actually have anything considered like Toy Story land. They didn't have anything like that. But back to Toy Story Mania.

speaker-2: So the idea for Toy Story Mania actually began in May 2005 when the Imagineers were working on Carsland, a California adventure, and they were brainstorming ways to like bring interactivity to Carsland. All of the ideas they had for Carsland for interactivity were discarded. But they like liked that initial concept. They also were inspired by the aspect of like games at Pixar Pier, Buzz Light, your Space Ranger spin had been very successful. And so they ultimately started to think of this idea of like Toy Story Midway Mania. They did research at the Los Angeles County Fair with classic midway games, and they decided that they were going to go that direction. So they were gonna do classic games but incorporate like technology. And one of my favorite little facts is that, you know, it's a pull-string gun. It's not like a push gun on Toy Story Mania. That was inspired by the cannons that were used in Disney Quest at the Pirates of the Caribbean, like battle for buccaneer gold thing, which I'm pretty sure was extremely janky, the like one time that we did it.

speaker-1: Yes, but also like Disney Quest w did pave the way for a lot of things. So wow. That's so interesting.

speaker-2: It did. It did. Then the like look of Toy Story Mania was inspired by a game that one of the Imagineers had had as a kid called Snoopy and the Red Baron, which basically inspired the thing about how everything is like little punch outs, you know, with like the little flat figures in little cards. Yeah. And stuff like that. And the premise was basically that like Woody and his friends were operating carnival games. That is important because the premise of the ride later changes once Toy Storyland opened. So at the time it was like Woody and his friends were operating carnival games. ⁓

speaker-1: All that detail was lost on me. I had no idea about that.

speaker-2: ⁓ Go ahead.

speaker-1: ⁓ did you highlight this for me to say? Fun fact, this is a fun fact. During the testing of the ride, which like, ⁓ my God, goals to test this ride. How cool would that have been? But imagine yours noted that kids were reluctant to break the plates in the plate breaking thing. So they add the line where Sarge yells, I am not your mother, break those plates. That's an iconic line to me. I can picture him going. Break those plates. Here's another fun piece of lore. We had this game on the Wii and it always froze at one part and it was the worst. Okay.

speaker-2: We were obsessed with Toy Story Mania when it opened. So getting the Wii game was like so fun, except yes, it had a bug where it froze at one part. So you could only play like thirty percent of the game. ⁓ after so they had always kind of said, because this is a screen-based game, that like maybe changes would come. They didn't actually make that many changes, but after Toy Story 3 opened in May 2010, they did change a few things. The mini-game that's now Rex and Trixie's Dino Darts used to be Bo Peeps Ba Loon Pop. So they changed it.

speaker-1: Isn't that right? No.

speaker-2: They changed that to introduce Trixie and then the Unicorn Buttercup, who was another new character in Toy Story Three, replaced Rex in the ham and eggs game. I don't Are they still in it? Well it is still called I think it's still called Rex and Trixie's Dino Darts. I was looking at something about it today.

speaker-1: I don't think either of those characters are still in there. No way that Trixie is in that. She might be in like the outside of it. There is not a way to That's why Porcupine is in the end.

speaker-2: She like is. No it's like prehistoric themed. No, that's why it's like dinosaur prehistoric themed. Because it's Rex's

speaker-1: Trixie. Tri okay, one are those two together? I don't

speaker-2: You think everyone's together, such as Nemo and Dory.

speaker-1: Nemo Nemo, not Nico and Dory. She said Marlon and Dory, because they are together. They're dating. Okay. Fairly certain Trixie isn't in that game, but I could be wrong. I've never noticed her if she is. And I'm definitely the unicorn is not in it. There's just no way. In May of twenty sixteen, a third track was added since the ride was so popular. ⁓ that third track is themed differently, and the original track has the staircase with like the big circus type awning, and that's iconic to me.

speaker-2: They're they're not. They're not. Okay.

speaker-1: But at this point, Toy Storyland had already been announced. So that was announced again in 2015 at D23. But the actual lore of why they created Toy Storyland is sort of insane. Because for since 1955, Disney had never made a land that was fully immersive around one movie. They had like when Disneyland opened, okay, they had Fantasyland, they had all these different movies in there. They would never have felt so strongly or been able to kind of like, I guess, capitalize on it. A full Pinocchio land, one could only dream but

speaker-2: My god, I mean please, ⁓ that would be my my my like I'm having nightmares just thinking about a full Pinocchio lamp.

speaker-1: Literal. They would just never have done that, okay? They would never have done that. But they started to plan their first miniature. This is kind of a tangent, but it's important. They started to plan their first miniature, kind of fully themed land as a small little piece of fantasy land. And you might be thinking, Storybook Circus. No. Harry Potter. They started planning a miniature little Harry Potter land. I have a full deep dive on YouTube about this. Here's what you need to know. Disney lost the opportunity to do it. There were a lot of complexities, but what really sealed the deal is when they proposed a sorting hat spinner dumbo ride. All right. Crazy energy. But it was no one had ever, no one had ever done something themed around one movie. So like I kind of forgive them for a little. I don't know, because no one was doing that. So like they weren't planning to make this whole immersive land. Of course, to fast forward, Universal gets it. They announced the wizarding world of Harry Potter. They're building Hogsmead. They have the, you know. a full land all around Harry Potter and Disney needed to do something. And so they built Carsland. ⁓ Carsland was the first land in the United States at a Disney park that was inspired by like one movie. It's amazing. Carsland is amazing.

speaker-2: And that came about in a very interesting way. Basically, California Adventure is themed after California. So they'd always had this idea of creating a car land because of Route 66. There's like a big like car culture part of California. And then when they had cars, they were like, ⁓ my gosh, the perfect thing for California Adventure is instead of car land, we'll do Carsland. And so it was a very sort of natural reason for them to create a land themed around one park. And like Carsland was so popular, so immersive. That people became obsessed with it. And so I'm gonna read a quote from an Imagineer. This is Imagineer Kathy Mangum, I believe is how you pronounce it. She said, As all of you know, here in Anaheim, we've been quite successful with taking immersive experiences to a whole new level, as we did with Carsland. In fact, one of our favorite stories from Opening Day is that we heard a little boy asking his mom, Is this where we filmed the Cars movie? That's exactly how we want people to feel. Like they've stepped onto the set of their favorite film, like the quaint town of Radiator Springs, or in the case of Toy Story. The wild and adventurous outdoors of Andy's backyard. So yes, they decided to make Toy Storyland themed after Andy's backyard and the whole backstory is that like you are one of the toys entering Andy's backyard.

speaker-1: Can't wait till we get to the end, which I hopefully is gonna be a time where we sort of just like talk about things about this land because I have a lot to say about that. But ⁓ when they decided to do this land, guys, I'm obsessed with Hollywood Studios. It is my like passion. Hollywood Studios is mine, MGM is mine. ⁓ and you know that. And Epcot is yours MGM is Epcot's mine. And MGM is mine, and that's just the fact. Old Epcot is mine though. Anyway, yeah, it is. When they were building MGM and like redoing it, they decided to completely redo the park. They literally wiped out The entire backlot tour in all of those backstage buildings to build two lands, Galaxy's Edge and Toy Storyland. And it's crazy when you just like look at the transformation and why they put Toy Storyland there and why they put Galaxy's Edge where it was. It ended up feeling there's like awkward kind of dead spaces, but that's not what the original concept was. So let's talk a little bit about what the original concept was.

speaker-2: So well, why don't you? 'Cause I'm not sure where you're going. Go ahead.

speaker-1: ⁓ I do have some pictures right in there and I thought we were gonna talk about those. But okay. ⁓ so the original concept was that they were going to build a land that yeah, it was Andy's backyard that you could actually feel like Andy was in. And so when you walk on the pathways, you could see Andy's like giant footprints. You're shrunk down to like one two hundred and fiftieth or something. And so you can you can still see those. They're actually there. ⁓ they were gonna build two new rides. One of them was Slinky Dog Dash. And when you're in the queue, you can see a roller coaster box and that's like showing that Andy like put this roller coaster together. And then it was also going to slice through the like the earth basically. So it looked like Andy had like dug out the kind of path and then the roller coaster would kind of be like sitting in it. The roller coaster was also supposed to kind of pass over in a like a a horizontal loop, not upside down, but a horizontal loop like over again, just like kind of showing that it was a play set. And then the other ride that they were adding was Alien Swirling Saucers, which was intentionally not like a E ticket attraction, they wanted kind of something smaller. There's a little bit of a backstory to that too, but ⁓ and then obviously they had Toy Story Mania and Toy Story Mania was facing the wrong way. Did you have something to add on Slinky or or Alien before I get into that?

speaker-2: Well, I have like breakdowns for each ride. So starting with Slinky Dog Dash, this was supposed to be, yeah, Andy was taking this like generic Dash and Dodge mega coaster kit, which you can see in the queue, and building a roller coaster in his backyard, then incorporating some of his favorite toys. Like Mouse Leo said, the original concept art showed the dugouts. And I remember when they released the V2 of the concept art and those dugouts were gone, everyone was like aghast.

speaker-1: I'm a I'm a dugout loyalist. Like I don't think you are. I'm a dugout loyalist.

speaker-2: No, I actually I actually am. Sleaky Dog Dash is an extremely popular coaster. And so, like, obviously what they did is completely fine. However, if you compare the original, very original V1 concept art to the later one with the dugouts and some of the extra loops, I just think it had a little more of that like je ne sais quoi. Yeah, it kind of lost it a little bit to me. And I remember another like big deal that they made during the building of this. Was that it was like a launch coaster with a second launch, which it is. ⁓ there's a part where like you stop and then Slinky pulls back and goes forward again to like mimic how it someone plays with a toy. I I don't know. That doesn't like that doesn't wow me, I have to say.

speaker-1: I didn't know they ever said that. And so I've never thought about that launch until you just said that. I mean, like I knew that they had that little like I thought it was just like a part of the ride. I didn't realize it was supposed to be like a

speaker-2: It's like it's supposed to be a big deal. One of the amazing things about Toy Story Land though and this ride is that there's a zillion Easter eggs. It's really cool.

speaker-1: So many Easter eggs.

speaker-2: So, like I I listed out some of the ones for here. One of our favorites, and actually Melsa too and I knew the answer to a trivia question the other day because of this. The wait time. Yeah, the wait time sign for Slinky Dog Dash is supposed to be like the tag off Andy's dog's collar. His name is Buster. And so on the back of the wait time, it says Buster and their address because it's like a dog tag.

speaker-1: The Q has this box. This is such a funny fact because Mouse the One told me this. There's a lot of lore here. Maybe I'll tell it on the sitting on the ground talking segment one day, but way more lore than you would ever think. The Q has the box that Wheezy came in and on it it says do not get it wet, which is also ironic because I think he's a bath toy. But this is a reference to why Wheezy's squeaker is messed up.

speaker-2: There's the box that Rex came in, and he looks like really scary because he's supposed to be a dinosaur. Of course, we all know that the character of Rex is not, but it has an Owl's Toy Barn price tag on it. And then the price was $19.95, reference to the year that the movie came out. And then on the box that the roller coaster kit came in, this is such like an obscure detail. I love this video. There's a UPC code. It's a bazillion numbers. But the first half of those numbers is the date that Pixar Studios was founded, February 3rd, 1986. And the second half.

speaker-1: Well.

speaker-2: is the date that Magic Kingdom opened, October first, nineteen seventy one. I don't know why they didn't make it the date that MGM opened, but whatever. ⁓ and then underneath it it says made in Emeryville, California, which is the home of Pixar Studios.

speaker-1: Of one more. This is like a highly debated one, and I always wonder. I mean, there's so many other hidden details, but this is again a highly debated one. In the queue, right when you're up to board on the back wall, there is a drawing that like Andy did with the Green Army men, and there is a little water tower. Because the Green Army men like have a water tower, I guess, whatever. People say, and they're wrong because that's actually not the location, but people say that that's a tribute to the earful tower. ⁓ I don't think it actually is. I think it just happened to be something they added, but I like the idea that it is. And I need to say a little bit of

speaker-0: M-m-m-m-mouse that's small.

speaker-1: Do you know what the Earful Tower is? Yeah, okay. D and listener, do you like I was in Walt Disney Studios at Disneyland Paris, Adventure World

speaker-2: I do. Maybe you should explain what it is. I feel like some people maybe don't know what it is.

speaker-1: I'm about to explain it. And I said, ⁓ my gosh, I st like I miss it so much. The Earful Tower. And which is the big water tower with Mickey ears on that they used to have at MGM and they still have it in Paris. And Mouselit A and Mouselit L like turned to and they're like, ⁓ my God, did you make that up? Like what the heck? And they were like laughing. And I was like, I d I wish I made that up. I didn't make that up. The Earful Tower is iconic, but I didn't realize that it sounds like the Eiffel Tower.

speaker-2: I didn't I didn't fully realize that either. I

speaker-1: I think that that's what they were like thinking that it said. So anyway, people say that's a tribute. No, in fact, this land, as far as I know, doesn't have almost a single tribute to the old backlot. Dog dash does, but I don't think this land has a single one. So if that's the only one, then we can call it that. But ⁓ that's Thinky Dog Dash.

speaker-2: Alien Swirling Saucers. The backstory for this one is that like Andy won this little play set at ⁓ Pizza Planet. It's actually the same ride system as Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and as a Bay Max ride in Tokyo.

speaker-1: There's a ton of Easter eggs in this ride. The outside of it has these two like guard statues. Those are a tribute to Pizza Planet. ⁓ there's a lot of like pizza imagery in general in there. There's the giant blaster from Buzz Light Your Space Ranger Spin.

speaker-2: Did you know that? I've never noticed that. I saw a but I saw that picture and I was like, wait, that's actually crazy. I did not know that. No

speaker-1: How many people are waiting in the queue then? No, I didn't know that. And then Airlock One and Airlock Thirteen. So there's a reference to A one one three, which was the classroom that all the Pixar animators took their like animation class at Caltech. Cool, there's a couple of A one one three tributes in that land. So

speaker-2: Yeah, this ride is like again like Musl too said, it's purposely small. It they they need they still need they needed that and they still need more rides that like kids can do at at Hollywood Studios. And so this was a perfect fit for that. It's it's it's fine. It's fine. Anyway

speaker-1: No, not everything should be an E ticket. No, exactly. It is exactly what it should be.

speaker-2: I agree. So not that much to say about it, but there is a ton of like pizza imagery in it. ⁓ Toy Story Mania. So the main thing about this is that like Maslati said earlier, they had to flip the entrance from the front of the building to the back of the building. Allow me

speaker-1: Read directly from the spreadsheet. Mouse lit to discuss how this cut off Hollywood Studios. Parentheses, briefly. And I wrote

speaker-2: Guys, I just I just knew that she could go on and on about this for like twenty minutes.

speaker-1: Good. And I and I and I will. ⁓ I may. They cut off Hollywood Studios. Don't even get me started. I kind of started talking about it a little bit, that they were building on the old back lot area. There's a lot of like flaws that they had. Toy Storyland wasn't necessarily the cause for all of those flaws. The big one was Galaxy's Edge because they built this giant berm around Galaxy's Edge and it like cut off all of the park. But They ended up with kind of a weird predicament that they were using a lot of the former backstage area. And so the access ended up kind of having an issue that they like no longer had the same access, basically. And so they flipped the entrance and the exit of Toy Story Mania from the Pixar Pier area that was now like closed off. They flipped it to the other side. There's something very interesting about this to me. ⁓ it's really cool to me. When you exit the ride, you See a popsicle stick wall and a checkerboard wall. If you're someone on Instagram, you might know them as the walls. People take pictures in front of them or they used to. Those walls are both movable because that is a service road that they left there because the park flow is so disturbed. But anyway, that's like flipping that you're sort of you're basically crossing through the back of a building. They like have this like almost a temporary little path. So if it feels a little awkward to exit it, that is why. ⁓ is that clear?

speaker-2: Very yes, it's very ill contrived and sometimes when the store that you exit through is closed because they're like making renovations, you go through an even more bizarre exit where you can see the random old Streets of America building that is still left back.

speaker-1: The one facade. It's in the back behind where the big gate is in that municipal area. A lot if you want to learn more about this, I post about this on TikTok all the time. It's probably my favorite thing to talk about ever. If I if someone said right now, you will win one billion dollars if you spend twenty-four hours talking about one thing, I would talk about this.

speaker-2: Wow. Okay. I mentioned earlier that when Toy Storyland opened, they needed to sort of slightly adjust the backstory of Toy Story Mania because the original backstory was just that like Woody and friends were hosting Carnival games. That no longer exactly works in the Toy Storyland context. So instead, the theme is that Andy got a new carnival midway game set for his birthday. And they sort of re-themed the queue so that you're going into like the box of games. And then the idea is that when you get inside, the toys have like set up the games for people to play and stuff. ⁓ that's why you end up in Andy's bedroom. Like you're going in to play the game is sort of the theme that they ended up going with. I think it works, I think it works completely fine. But they did have to sort of change that and they they adjusted the whole cue in order to make that happen.

speaker-1: Which that detail was kind of lost on me, honestly. ⁓ getting into dining though, there are two restaurants, one quick service, one sit-down, which I think is great. I think that's what a land should have, at least one quick service and one sit-down. Actually, I guess there's kind of two quick services now because they added that little booth. But Woody's lunchbox is like the big quick service. Backstory, Woody left his lunchbox out in the backyard.

speaker-2: Except that it's not Woody left his lunchbox. It's Andy left his lunchbox. So I'm like, why isn't it called Andy? I when I was writing the notes for this, I was getting so confused. I was like, is this called Andy's lunchbox or is this called Woody's lunch?

speaker-1: Yeah. Why isn't it called Andy? I guess it doesn't have the same like ring to it. Ring to it? Well anyway, all these food is supposed to be nostalgic, like make you feel like you're a kid again. They Pop Tarts, they have grilled cheese, they have like adult drinks like adult lemonade or something they call it. Adult drinks like alcoholic beverages. I don't know. Dad says our dad will go pop a muscle go, I need an adult beverage.

speaker-2: Whenever think of what I think of that. He calls it an adult beverage. ⁓ I whenever I think of Woody's Lunchbox, I think of Mouselit A because she loves Pop Tarts and they have a lot of specialty Pop Tarts there and she's always like desperate to go get the new Pop Tart. I hate out of the mouse, as we like to say.

speaker-1: Desperado on the mouse as we look Desperate. ⁓ the interior of it. It's it's cool because it literally is his lunchbox on the side. Like one of the things holding up the awning is like his thermos. I don't remember what the other one is. And then inside, the interior actually shows what was packed for Andy's lunch, not to be confused with Woody's lunch. Oreo cookies, celery, carrot sticks, animal crackers, a juice box, and baby bell cheese. Babybell cheese is also like all over the place that you can like sit on these little seats and things. Obviously Babybelle sponsored this area. Like I also saw Baby Bell cheese there, so

speaker-2: Babybell is the official cheese of Walt Disney World, I found out. And yes, they did a big Babybell sponsorship with Toy Storyland. I think it works very well. I know. I thought that too. I mean, but like this whole area is very cute. It it's not so much Easter eggs as it just is like very good theming. Like the team is

speaker-1: That's I'm stressed. ⁓

speaker-0: I don't know.

speaker-1: some insane some insane lore. Is this true? There's a guy who has the last name Elmer and he said that his family owns Elmer's glue and they had to pay his family to put Elmer's glue in that land. Is that true? Or was that like a joke that I like didn't pick up on?

speaker-2: I have no idea. There is almost glue in that land though. I don't know. There are there are tables and chairs made from like leftover food and wrappers here. And I remembered when I was writing this that recently they had to build more seating. Have we seen that? I don't think I have. I have. We did not notice it. Did you notice it? Is anything notable about it?

speaker-1: I think I have, you haven't. It has it's a slightly more shady. That's a white. Yeah, we will talk about that.

speaker-2: Okay, we'll talk about that as ⁓ then this one did not open with the land. This is Woody's Roundup Rodeo Barbecue. It opened like a a many years later, if I remember correctly.

speaker-1: And it was like it's it's like backstage basically. Like there's a little entrance and then you're just like in a like a show building that's like kind of tucked away backstage. It's it's almost like it was an afterthought, but they we'll get into what they were supposed to have in a minute. So Yeah.

speaker-2: But the the backstory is that Andy has made a restaurant for Woody and all of his other toys. I think the backstory on this one is is a little bit lacking, I have to say. But it's fine. we have been I've been once, Maslato has been twice. The the first time we went, I remember that we thought the food was like fine. But I don't think we felt like we'd be rushing back. But I feel like you liked it better the second time.

speaker-1: I think the biggest thing I remember the first time is that they rushed our meal so much. Everyone said, ⁓ the meal's super slow. No, so fast that we like took a bite of something and they put like more sides and things on it. Same exact experience me Mouse Lady had. They brought out the sides. We had just started eating them and they brought out the main course. The table, I'll try to find a picture. The table was cause like completely full of food. I was so overwhelmed. Another thing, they downsized the sizes of their desserts. The desserts are minuscule now. Like I'm eating like it's small. It's very, very small. ⁓ I really liked it though. I'm not like a huge barbecue person and I thought this was pretty good. It is kind of a little bit expensive and there's been some changes since it opened that is like like one of the things that used to be really fun and kind of like kitschy was that when you signed your receipt, they would bring you a giant pencil. Apparently people were trying to steal the pencil and so they stopped doing that.

speaker-2: happens I mean Galaxy's Ed with their special like spoon fork things like yes this is Disney unfortunately can't do stuff like that it sucks I was gonna ask you they used to have the cute little detail where they'd give you like

speaker-1: A horse to rice that they still have that. And then they still do like all of these little bits like ⁓ Andy's coming and like everyone freezes. There's a couple of other things like that that they do. I think it's really fun themed inside there too. It feels I don't know, like you're inside like a toy box, I guess. I'm not sure how it feels, but it's very well themed and I really like that. There's a bunch of Easter eggs in there also. We'll kind of run through a couple. So On the box for Woody, Andy Andy drew him lassoing Zerg because Zerg isn't part of Woody's world. Andy put them together.

speaker-2: Same with Rex's box. There's like a buzz sticker that Andy added and he wrote on it. Imagine you're said they really wanted it to feel like a world that only a child could create, like bringing together all of his different toys. ⁓

speaker-1: The ceilings are made up of two board games. One is space themed and one is frontier themed. And the imagineers actually wrote the games and wrote directions how to play them. They should sell them. I would love it. We love.

speaker-2: I know I I would love that too. There's a reference inside to the Triple R Ranch. It's like in reference to Woody, but the Triple R Ranch is an old spinoff of the Mickey Mouse Club, and so that's kind of like a callback to like old, old Disney Disney lore.

speaker-1: There's a milk carton with a drawing of Minnie Moo. I'm obsessed with Minnie Moo. ⁓ Minnie Moo is an actual cow who was born with a Mickey shaped spot on her side and she lived in what is what was Toontown, basically. Very, very interesting. Lauren later she moved to Fort Wilderness Campground. And the milk carton's expiration date is November twenty-second of nineteen ninety-five, which is when Toy Story premiered.

speaker-2: And they have like some little stick figure drawings in one section. And Russell from Up is one of the drawings. He's the only non-Toy Story character in the land. And there's also a drawing of the lead imagineer on the project. There's so many details in that restaurant. That's just like a few of them. Something about that restaurant though is it really feels like it should be a character dining restaurant and it's not.

speaker-1: And and like here's the thing, other than the fact that people pay for it without character dining, so like I guess whatever. But why isn't it? Why isn't it a character dining restaurant? Like I understand that the characters meet outside in the land, but like at the same time, I just like so I'm in the restaurant and I see Bo Peep I exit and like I walk up and I'm like, ⁓ Bo Peep left the restaurant and now she's meeting outside. Like I think that Mickey's in the parade and Mickey meets inside of the theater, like

speaker-2: I was gonna say Disney isn't that strict about that type of thing anymore. It's very surprising to me that they wouldn't make this a character dining restaurant. It feels like a miss.

speaker-1: I wonder if it would take too long. I don't know. I'm it is very interesting. The other question I have is why did they not do Pizza Planet? At least for like a quick service. Like Pizza Planet is begging. Because guess what? They had a Pizza Planet at ⁓ Disneyland. And they had a Pizza Planet at Disneyland Paris. And we just had a literal like mandala effect or whatever that's called. That I remember taking a picture of Mouse at One standing by this weird blue tunnel because they had a temporary Pizza Planet building that you walked through a tunnel backstage into some random, randomly themed restaurant that look nothing like the real Pizza Planet. What is with Disney's inability to create an actual Pizza Planet? Because I know that they could do it if they wanted to. It's crazy. It's

speaker-2: So weird. So the Disney's like response, I guess, was that Pizza Planet doesn't make sense in Andy's backyard. Technically true, but like I think that this is an example where people would prefer if they just stretch the story a little bit. AK Andy got a Pizza Planet playset like they did with Alien Swirling Saucerers. You know, Woody's Roundup Rodeo Barbecue isn't like a perfectly

speaker-1: Lady.

speaker-2: thematic thing. I think this is kind of an example of Disney being too rigid with their immersive lands like Galaxy's Edge, where they're like, ⁓ no, Pizza Planet's a real place. We can't put Pizza Planet into Andy's backyard. It doesn't work when it's like, okay, I don't know. People just aren't quite that in tune. You could have just sort of stretched it a little bit and made it work. People would love a pizza planet.

speaker-1: Yeah, sometimes they just go like a little bit too far. Like and I love when they do that, but it's like bend the rules when it makes sense. And like in other things you're like downfalling. Like we'll talk about the the entrances land in a minute and what they completely changed around. But I wish they had just done that. I really wish they had done that.

speaker-2: I do. I do too. Okay. I wanted to mention a few other notable Easter eggs. There's literally so many. Mouse Latoon mentioned Andy's footprints on the ground. These are twenty-five foot long feet long because again, it's supposed to give you like a reference to your scale. ⁓ around the land there's a lot of various dominoes and blocks that spell out A113. Again, that reference. A really random one to me is that one of the blocks has the tangled sun on it. I'm kind of like, I mean, cute little callback, but like why? It it's not like there was ever a tangled thing there. It's just sort of random. And then Nelson too can tell fact. This is your fact about the Jesse O's.

speaker-1: barely remember this fact. Okay, there's a box of Jesse O's in the back of the land and at the top it says like the name of a city and that city is where a bunch of the big cereal companies are actually from. So 'cause it's ⁓ 'cause it's a cereal box. So there's so many other details though. A couple of other things I want to talk about though. One, they have a new little food stand. The biggest thing you should know about it, it's in the back of the land is that they sell the spring rolls that have meat in it. So that's why this is like it's a boo from me. ⁓

speaker-2: L box.

speaker-1: They have the spring rolls there. Everything else is just kind of like basic stuff, but it's so good that they have another offering in the land.

speaker-2: Pizza Planet spring rolls. Once again them they're appropriating Pizza Planet culture.

speaker-1: And then they don't even have spring rolls. ⁓ the other thing that's really interesting, and this ties perfectly into talking about the entrance of the land. This land doesn't have a true gift shop. You know, when Toy Story Mania actually opened with a new revised entrance, they didn't even have a gift shop in the exit of the ride. And Disney loves a gift shop. So it's like that's so very odd. But guess what? They were supposed to have a gift shop. So in the original concept art for this land, it's so ⁓ it's so disappointing. Okay. The original content art for this land, when you walked in, you would be greeted with a little green island. Not a little green alien, but like a green island that had ⁓ Woody in it. Woody. Okay. And you would go to either side. And on the right, there would be all of these like frontier style buildings. That would be the entrance to the restaurant. And just like immersive, feeling like you're in like Jesse and Woody's like life. And on the left would be Al's Toy Barn. Of course there should be Al's Toy Barn. It makes perfect sense. They later cut that. And it's fine that they cut that. I don't need a Toy Story gift shop per se. And I don't need the entrance to look like that. But I need the entrance to look like something. And the entrance and the exit of Toy Story Land is seriously horrible and so bad. And like it's so weird. You walk over. I understand that these lands were new and they had to have like a longer walkway to get you to the back. But they could have themed it. I mean, it could have done something. And instead, you like To walk into Toy Storyland, on the left is some bathrooms, and then there's a Toy Story s ⁓ mania show building. And on the right, there's one man stream building. And then there's a little you can see part of the building that has Roundup Rodeo. Nothing themed. You just walk on this weird

speaker-2: So it's just like a tan. ⁓ It's truly the only place in Disney that I can think of where you're just walking on a big walkway that's completely unthemed. Like in Epcot there's walkways that are like beautiful you know, they're part of like the experience. This is just like to get you from point A to point B. It's terrible.

speaker-1: But it but my biggest question, I just don't understand. I'm like, Where did I go wrong? Where did they go wrong? I understand they didn't have that many options, but like my God, ⁓ I'm looking at it right now. ⁓ they have some palm trees, the big building. It just looked terrible. They didn't even try. They didn't even try.

speaker-2: It's like, why didn't you extend Toy Story Land there and put some cute little facade Like the whole point of Toy Storyland is Andy drew things. Andy drew some facades up leading in. Like you could have done something.

speaker-1: You could have done anything and all they have is like two tinker toys. And that's like after you walk like for five minutes, there's two tinker toys. Just like Jesus. Not to mention the back of the land. They clearly ⁓ I wish Mouse Leday was here because she would Why didn't they put a Zerg and Darth Vader? 'Cause Zerg kind of transitions to Darth Vader. But it's like they completely bombed at the exit to the land too. I remember. I remember when Galaxy's Edge was not open, but Toy Storyland was. Do you remember that? Yes.

speaker-2: Yeah.

speaker-1: And there's a wall in the back being like, What are they gonna do to tie these two lands together? Nothing.

speaker-2: Nothing. Just sort of put a path of rocks of rocky path.

speaker-1: A path and then you're just like you kind of go from being in Toy Storyland as a toy and suddenly you walk in and you're in Galaxy's Edge. Does that make sense? No? It doesn't make sense

speaker-2: If you've ever been to Disneyland and walked into their Galaxy's Edge, the way that Disney transitions into Galaxy's Edge is so immersive in Disneyland. So good. In worlds, you just appear in Galaxy's Edge. Like it doesn't make sense.

speaker-1: And And I'm gonna like I literally this is on my list to do a whole deep dive in, ⁓ like short form. Okay, so you'll see it on TikTok probably. Is that Galaxy's Edge was designed to just be for Disneyland and they copied the layout and they destroyed the layout of the park. And Toy Storyland, they could have done so much with that walkway and they didn't. And why didn't they build Al's Toy Barn? They got built that. How hard could it have been to build the facade of Al's Toy Barn? I like genuinely, I don't understand. I don't know. It's odd, it's very odd to me. I do like this land though. There's a lot of stuff I like.

speaker-2: Yeah.

speaker-1: I just think it's odd that there's not a gift shop. It's odd that there's a weird entrance. The transition to Galaxy's Edge is bad. And my last kind of issue is there's no shade in the land. It's just it is too hot.

speaker-2: It's too hot. It's very strange that they would build I mean, they quite literally had no shade. Like now the Slinky Dog sort of extender queue has a zillion umbrellas because there was literally like no shade at all. It's very inter and again, the store that's now at the exit of Toy Story Mania didn't used to be there. Like you just pop back out. It's very interesting that they would build a land with like nowhere indoors, no shade. I don't know, in Florida. Not sure why that happened.

speaker-1: I wanna give this land some kind of credit though, because at nighttime, and I remember our October 2020 trip, the end of the day at Hollywood Cities, we were walking around with our friends adults at Disney and the ⁓ Christmas light things were on and I remember and it was cooler and I was being like, This it was such a good vibe. This land is a really great vibe at nighttime. I feel like it really comes alive. I love that they have the Luxo ball. They really do have so many details and they like

speaker-2: It was an amazing vibe.

speaker-1: They thought through all of these. It's very layered as Pixar is. Even just like the Q fences, like the iconic green fences, or the fact that there's a green alien there. At Christmas time, they'll bring out stuff like there's a ham cookie. Ham cookie is iconic. I think that like you took a picture of that ham cookie like nearly early on. And like it's sticks out to me. Even the bathroom. The bathroom's a little small, but like they have scrabble letters up at the top that says like restrooms and it's built out of like ⁓ blocks.

speaker-2: Ham cookie is iconic to me.

speaker-1: I really think they did a great job with this land. I think the rides are fun. ⁓ I don't even think it needs another ride. I just think they needed just to put like five percent more and it would have been perfect. And instead I'm like, ⁓ this is a good land. And it's so much better than Toy Story Playland.

speaker-2: So much better. Toy Story Land has ⁓ to me, notably wide paths, like it's extremely wide paths, so that there's very good like guest flow, which is great. However, I think a lot of times you're just like in the middle of one of those paths. And so I feel like it's kind of easy to miss a lot of the details in the land because you're just kind of flying through on these very wide paths. However, like we just mentioned with the Easter eggs, there are truly so, so many references. If you look around, like look at what every single thing in that land is made of. Everything is something. Like there's twist ties, there's straws, there's string lights, there's tinker toys. Like everything is a toy makes sense. Like it's really cool when you really pay attention. ⁓ some of them are obvious obviously but some of them like aren't.

speaker-1: When they Yeah. I was gonna say during COVID, I was trying to find it. This is so sad. During COVID, they changed Street View on Google to be able to show you like you would be able to walk through it and see all of these hidden little Pixar references. ⁓ and that's gone. It's gone from Street View. I was disappointed. I was gonna pull it up and find some of that fun stuff. But that's I do think that they thought through like every little bit of this land. I even like that like when you're looking for Slinky Dog Dash, if you don't want to ride it, there's like viewing areas. Yeah. Like that's not something they have like almost anywhere else. I just think that's that is super cool. So

speaker-2: It's a very kid friendly land. Slinky Dog is a very kid-friendly coaster. It has a height requirement because all like all roller coasters basically do. But it's was purposely made to be kid friendly. Alien swirling saucers and toy story mania are the micklet when on Toy Story Mania. So like anyone can on that. Anyone can go on that. ⁓ but yeah, I think the land is very well done. It was like definitely a big foray for Disney. It was the first movie themed land. Yeah, the big foray.

speaker-1: Insane, which is like literally insane. that word my life.

speaker-2: Hmm. Are you mouse today? it was the first movie themed lane at Walt Disney World and like now we sort of get those all the time, which, well, dovetails very well into the special segment. But before I do that, do you have any other final thoughts on Toy Story?

speaker-1: I do some couple of final thoughts. They do have a couple of character meet and greets outside. And I like the sporadic nature of the meet and greet that it kind of feels like that. But people end up queuing for a long time outside. Kind of wish that was inside. But another fun thing we didn't mention is the Green Army men or the Green Army people, as I should say. They'll walk around, they'll play drums. They used to do little games. And sometimes they have a female serge, which I think is super, super cool. I like love that. Like I think that's like progressive, I guess, of Disney, but in a fun I'm like go like girl power. Yes, you can be a green army person. ⁓ I think that the Green Army meant help bring the land to life. If I could add a couple of other things, I would have Lotto be out, but I understand that he's saved for special events, but I would have Sid be out. Not that those two would really exist in the same space, but I would just have a couple more of the like toys.

speaker-2: And they have Rex now. They have a Rex character. Remember, he was at Dollywood Nights. I would have him out.

speaker-1: ⁓ I forgot about him. Yeah, I I think like it would be fun. It would just bring the land a little to life, a little more to life if they had that. But in general, I do like this land. I think they did a good job.

speaker-2: Agree. Okay, for the special segment today, this sort of dovetails nicely. I've created a Disney Parks Would You Rather because I'm gonna be honest, I've said this before. Toy Story is not my personal favorite franchise. I know that it's like so many people's favorite, and it make totally makes sense why Disney made the land. However, it's not my personal favorite. So I've created a list of 10 Would You Rathers. These are sort of for Mousel 2 specifically, but we'll both discuss. and my first one, you'll see why this dovetails is Would you rather that Disney create Toy Story if they could only make one, Toy Storyland or Monstropolis?

speaker-1: I mean obviously for me Monstropolis, because I'm a huge Monsters Inc. fan. I mean like I'm like a die hard Monsters Inc. girl. I love Monsters Inc. ⁓

speaker-2: Any movie specific land that Disney could create, Monstropolis would be like very high up on my list.

speaker-1: Yeah, like what would be my list would be ⁓ Incredibles is my favorite Disney movie. So like that would be really, really high up there. ⁓ I mean Monstropolis, I like obviously Star Wars, but like Monstropolis is like right there.

speaker-2: Okay, my next one my next would you rather was literally because I know you, would you rather have Monsteropolis or Municiburg, which is the city from the Incredibles?

speaker-1: So tough. I love everything about the Incredibles. I want to literally live in Municiburg, like right now in real life, and then visit Monstropolis. But I want to like be residing. Like if my house is in Municiburg, I would be the happiest person alive.

speaker-2: Okay, so you what but you would rather that Disney create Monstropolis?

speaker-1: I guess just because I feel like Municiberg isn't quite as distinctive with like specific things that you can see.

speaker-2: Okay, my next Disney Parks themed, would you rather? This is again like literally tailored to you. Would you rather that Disney fix the cutoff Hollywood studios, fix that whole flow thing, or fix Disneyland's Tomorrowland?

speaker-1: ⁓ my god, how dare you? ⁓ I mean selfishly fix Hollywood Studios because but here's the thing. They've they screwed the pooch. I don't know. What does that even mean? They've butchered it. Like they've

speaker-0: Yes.

speaker-2: It I don't know. They've locked themselves into this horror.

speaker-1: I don't know what they would do. So in that way I would probably choose the other just be

speaker-2: No, but if you could wave a magic wand and it would be fixed.

speaker-1: go back and build Galaxy's Legend Toys or Land I would do that because honestly, no one in Disneyland seems all that bothered by Tomorrowland. They're all still hanging out in there and it's like if I was there, I would complain about it every day. But I just

speaker-2: I just saw a creator say that their favorite land of Disneyland was Tomorrowland. And I literally created Okay, next up. If Disney was building a fifth park, would you rather have the theme be villains, all villains park, you know, Dark Kingdom vibe or Pixar, all Pixar Park?

speaker-1: Okay. Here's my beef with an all-Pixar thing as a pure as a Disney purist. I want to hear your answer on this too. Actually, I wanna hear yours for.

speaker-2: No, go ahead. Go ahead.

speaker-1: Okay, as a Disney purist, Pixar doesn't exist in the same I know there's that Pixar theory, but like it doesn't exist in the same capacity that if you have a full Pixar land or a full Pixar park, it's like how are these things relating to each other? I guess if you have segmented lands, are you then getting into the trap that you just have ⁓ like an upland and a this land? What was the other what was the other one I'm even weighing? Okay.

speaker-2: Yeah.

speaker-1: Versus well, I don't know if there's enough for villains though. What I don't want is for Disney to only build lands themed around certain movies. I don't want a mo movie land, movie land, movie land. I want a land that ties together multiple stories and movies like they've done for a million years. So in that regard, I think I would pick the villain's land.

speaker-2: Bill's park. This is a whole park.

speaker-1: I know, I know. I keep saying Villains Land. I would do a park, the villains park, I think. But I I love Pixar and like in actuality I probably would want the Pixar one. But like as the purest in me, I'm saying Villains.

speaker-2: Here's my thing with people saying they should create a Pixar park. Like in the original creation of Pixar, when it was like the ultra Pixar classics to me, like Toy Story, Monsters Inc., whatever. Finding Nemo, The Incredibles. Okay, not a book's life, but the Incredibles. Like, there was like, it was like, yes, classic, classic Pixar. But now Pixar has so many movies and like.

speaker-1: Even like finding Nemo is like

speaker-2: I don't know. I to me it's just kinda like it's random. Like, yes, I understand they were all created by Pixar Studios, but like like you said, there's nothing tying those movies together. There's nothing that makes like Brave so different 'cause it's Pixar than like Tangled. It's there just

speaker-1: themselves. I'm looking at the latest Pixar movies and I'm like, some of these are like iconic Pixar inside out. Very iconic Pixar. Yes. Elio. I liked Elio, but like it didn't have that same reach. Or Elemental. I mean I loved Elemental, but like Turning Red didn't quite have that same reach. Luca didn't quite have that same reach. So it's like Coco I really liked. I don't know, I do kind of agree. It doesn't

speaker-2: It's like okay, Cocoa. Coco and Kanto. Like there's nothing that makes like Coco, ⁓ my gosh, that is so Pixar and in Kanto is so not. Like they're both sort of in the sa I don't know. I just don't think it makes as much sense to be like, ⁓ my gosh, all Pixar. Pixar is just like a studio, yes, and I understand their movies are different, but I don't know. Which but like you said, I do think I would actually really like a Pixar part. Like I would live. We're huge Pixar fans.

speaker-1: I'm like a big Pixar. We're Pixar yeah, we're Pixar girls. But thematically, purest I like I think the villain's park, but in actuality Obviously I love these fully immersive lands too. I just don't want it to be all of that.

speaker-2: Me too. ⁓ okay, next up one hundred one Dalmatians ride or Aristocat's ride? Cats

speaker-1: Hunter One Dalmatians. It's funny. I was almost saying like I would love a Hunter Bon Dalmatians land. I like, ⁓ it's just London. But ⁓ I mean I love both of them. I love the Aristocats. It's one of my top five favorite Disney movies. We should do a whole episode in our favorite Disney movies, I'm realizing. But it's one of my top five. But Hunter Bond Dalmatians is number two. Like I love that movie. I watch it constantly. I'm obsessed with that movie. It's one of my favorite movies. What would you choose? Well

speaker-2: I would choose I would probably choose a hundred bundle missions. I love I mean I also do love Aristicettes, but ⁓ I know what I would choose for this next one, but I'm not sure what you would choose. WALL-E ride or Incredibles ride. I would choose WALL E. Nastel 2 loves Incredibles more than I do.

speaker-1: Me too. Here's the thing, I'm like picturing because obviously there is an Incredibles ride and there's not a WALLI's ride ride. ⁓ I love Incredicoaster because it's a thrill, but as far as like the best ride ever for the Incredibles, I don't know. Like, is it a dark if there's a dark ride, which would I prefer? Maybe a WALLI dark ride would make sense. I love WALLE. I mean the Incredibles is my favorite, so I gotta go with that. But it's just it really just depends on the execution and the style of the ride.

speaker-2: I would pick Wally. ⁓ okay, you can bring one of these to Walt Disney World. Pick Sarpier or Carsland.

speaker-1: I mean, okay, here's the thing. Pixar Pier doesn't make sense. It's a peer, and all these like random Pixar things are there together. Like thematically, it doesn't make sense, but it's like Pixar Pier. It's a no no no. It's a really fun land, but it doesn't make sense. How is tell how it makes sense? Inside out thing. Okay, what's the story that there's an inside out thing next to Jesse a Jesse Merryground and big Pixar Ferris wheel? It doesn't make sense, but it is a lot of fun. ⁓ so

speaker-2: Cars. And I know people are gonna be like, Well you're getting the cars land at Magic Kingdom, but it's not Radiator Springs. It's not the same. It's gonna be

speaker-1: Springs is amazing. I guess I would put that at Hollywood Studios. We're just already gonna add a bunch of Pixar lands in there. I'll just add that one too.

speaker-2: Okay. I don't know exactly what park these are from in Asia because I've not been to them, but there is a Tangled Ride in Shanghai. Okay. And there's a Beauty and the Beast ride, I believe, also in Tokyo. ⁓ which one would you bring over?

Listen to music, but I would listen to like specific Disney songs. I like sort of new to Spotify. I don't know. And one of the songs I would listen to is I've got a dream from Rapunzel or whatever. Tangled. And anyway, Spotify created this new thing that's like an album called Your All-Time.

speaker-2: From Tangled.

speaker-1: Top songs. Okay. And I was listening to it this morning just on Shuffle. And one of the like very bottom ones, which I haven't really listened to that much because it's like at the bottom of the list, is that song. It's actually the second to last one. And I was like, that's so funny. Then I realized why it's because to get excited for my Disney trips, I used to listen to that song and like Swiss polka and like Mulan, a song from Mulan, a couple of others. And it literally I was listening to it and I was like picturing living in Boston with my Vera Bradley suitcase. My little purple very bradley suitcase and getting so excited to go to Disney.

speaker-2: What a random song for you to have picked 'cause yeah, you're not really like a tangled girl.

speaker-1: that many Disney songs that were like on Spotify. I don't know. I don't know why I listened to I'm not a Spotify girl. I would there's like I would pretty much choose any ride over that tingle ride because people said

speaker-1: Did I say I'm not a Spotify girl? ⁓ I'm a Spotify girl. I'm a Spotify girl. ⁓ not a tangled girl. That ride people say is not that good.

Would you rather have them build Beastly Kingdom or Edison Square slash Liberty Street, which if you don't know, Beastly Kingdom is an unbuilt land of imaginary creatures for Animal Kingdom, and Edison Square slash Liberty Street were supposed to be expansions of Main Street USA.

speaker-1: Okay. In what is are they building it now or are they building it when they plan to build it?

speaker-2: They I don't know.

speaker-1: Building it now, Beesley Kingdom. If they're building it when they were gonna build it and Walt was building that. I think I would still probably you know what's funny, you probably know a lot about Edison Square and that 'cause you just did a deep dive on it. I didn't watch that video. So you don't watch any of my I think I would just be taking them.

speaker-2: Okay, the last one I think I know what you're gonna say, but in Magic Kingdom, would you rather expand Frontierland or expand Adventureland?

speaker-1: What do you think? It's funny. It's funny because well, I Frontierland's my favorite park. My favorite land, I mean. But Frontierland ran into an issue that there was nothing frontier themed that they

speaker-2: Frontier Frontier sort of stopped being a theme like right when Disney parks were becoming a thing and so yeah.

speaker-1: Like the Wild West, like there wasn't like as much like they have Woody and like Toy Story is literally everywhere. So they kind of ran into an issue with that, which is why they're building this cars thing. I and I'm like, I get it. I get why they're building this car's thing. The fact that they took away Tom Story's Island, like and my boat, like literally, how dare they? ⁓ I mean, I don't want to expand it unless I can have the rivers of America. So you take that away from me, and like I'm just like, okay. ⁓ don't know what they would expand it to.

speaker-2: Like, are you expanding Adventureland?

speaker-1: gonna say is like I think what they would do is probably expand it to like include something a little more ⁓ like Mexican influence kind of like they have at Disneyland and Disneyland Paris and then they would have like Coco and stuff. I would like that and I would go for that but I'm expanding Adventureland because Adventureland at Magic Kingdom stinks and it's better at all

speaker-2: I don't need to expand Adventure Land, I just need to take a hammer and sort of smash something.

speaker-1: It's not gonna you're smashing the magic carpet. The magic carpet I'm adding an up ride. I'm adding an up exploration ride.

speaker-2: Obviously. Are you interested in an upswing ride? I can get you one from Disneyland Paris.

speaker-1: ⁓ I'll probably choose Adventureland because I don't understand Frontier One's identity and I won't until the car's ride is open and I kind of like sit with it, but like how does this all work together? So

I don't know if ⁓ really he'll want me there yet. Two, go visit Mouse at one and the baby. Three, go to Connecticut and drop off my bag and see Mama and Papa Mouselet and Winnie. Which

speaker-2: You're doing anyways later, so that should not be your choice. You're doing that regardless.

speaker-1: Do I drive north to see my brother? Do I drive south to see my sister? It's my pit. Tough decision. Okay. I'll probably end up coming to your house 'cause I don't think Mouse of Three wants us at the house yet, so

speaker-2: Ha ha ha My pit is that the Mikla is sleeping really badly and I am therefore sleeping really badly. And it's ⁓ I know. I yeah, it's a bummer. Okay. Peach.

speaker-1: You're about to go back to work. My peach is that me and Mouse Leday have just been loving the house recently. We've just been having fun, keeping it clean, decorating it. Kind of in high

speaker-2: Finally you finally used had learned how to use your coffee maker, your espresso maker.

speaker-1: Finally, but I've mastered it and I love it.

speaker-2: But yeah. My peach is also house related, which is that redoing my playroom and office is so fun. All the furniture's arriving. I'm putting together everything. I'm seeing like my vision come together. I can't wait to actually see it. It's like so fun redoing rooms of the house. I I love it.

speaker-1: Agreed. Okay. Fact of the day. Well, my fact of the day was you kind of stole like a couple of my facts of the day as we were talking about things. I was gonna talk a lot about like kind of what's going on at Hollywood Studios. I'm gonna talk about like anyway, but you sort of stole those. So now I think I'm gonna do the Odyssey. But I worried that I've done this fact before. Do you remember? Okay, well I'll do it. The Odyssey, in case you didn't know, in case I've said this before. The Odyssey, yes, the building between Test Trac and Mexico.

speaker-2: I don't remember at

speaker-1: It's like this circular building. It has a really weird history and lore. It seems very random there. It was a restaurant. It was a literal restaurant. And it was also at one point a quick service restaurant that had a very random menu. And then it sat abandoned for many, many years. The bathrooms were open, but like the building, I mean first up until like recently ish. We had the mouse lists and the building was abandoned. Yes. ⁓ until the Epcot experience, I think it was abandoned. And

speaker-2: For so long.

speaker-1: Now they actually use it as a festival center. Well, they wouldn't have needed to use it as a festival center had they built the actual festival center. But ⁓ I think they're I'm happy with how they're using it. I'm happy with how they're like ha having that space.

speaker-2: It's much better now. Yes. It makes sense. It makes sense. Yeah.

speaker-1: What's your fact of the day?

speaker-2: Fact is that somewhere in Toy Storyland, I I think it's in the back by Sleaky Dog Docitch. I was just trying to look at pictures, but I like can't find a picture of what I'm thinking of. There is a popsicle stick wall that they had to build like kind of oddly high because there's a backstage building like right on the other side. Parking garage, yes. And so they had to like build up pretty high so that you wouldn't be able to see that thing.

speaker-1: Parking garage, in fact. Okay, wait, that just reminded me and maybe we talk about this another time, but it reminded me of the fact that they considered building Monsters Inc. in Animation Courtyard and they would have demolished that whole thing. Just intriguing to me that they considered doing that.

speaker-2: Yeah, what they ended up doing is much better.
