M1: Welcome back to another episode of Sisters Sisters. I am joined today by my sister.

M2: The mouse that won is running the show today in case you're confused. She felt passionate about running the show and welcome back. We are going on a trip soon and we actually leave in a week. We'll be there a week from now actually when you're listening to this. So very, very exciting. All next week we're gonna be diving more into like what's going on with our trip and things. But we wanted to talk about a couple of things. I think to start, I would like you to tell people when you booked your flight for our trip that is in one week from now.

M1: my flight less than a week ago for sure. We're recording this a little early, we're recording this on Sunday if you don't notice we have natural light for once. ⁓ But yeah I booked it less than a week ago. I will say I was checking the prices and for some reason the prices actually ended up going down ⁓ as I continued to procrastinate. So it's fine because I actually saved us money. But the reason it was a fluke, it was a fluke, but the reason that I did that is because

M2: Yeah. for once. But by an actual fluke though.

M1: The flight that I wanted didn't exist and you've experienced this a little bit as well. You can tell yours in a moment, but basically the most convenient place for me to fly out of is Westchester Airport. It's a very tiny airport and it's not that far from my house and this is going to be my baby's first flight, the Miklits first flight. So I said perfect flying out of Westchester Airport is so easy. There is a flight Tuesday morning and a flight Wednesday night. I have something Tuesday morning. My last mommy and me class. I really don't want to miss it and by Wednesday night I like I'm missing stuff. So I need to fight two-

M2: And also a late night flight for the baby's first flight. would be, people are gonna try to sleep. Like it would just, it would be tough.

M1: Yeah, it lands at like 1130, like that's. So I needed a Tuesday evening flight or a Wednesday morning flight. They didn't exist out of Westchester. They just like weren't running them for some reason. So then I had to go through this whole decision process of what to do instead. It was very hard for me. I hate making decisions. Ultimately, I decided we're gonna fly out with Mama Mouselet out of Connecticut. She's flying down Tuesday night. And then we're gonna fly back into Westchester, which kind of makes our car situation a little bit complicated. We have to sort of do some dropping off, whatever, but I think it'll be fine.

M2: For me, I am flying this. So this trip is with like mom and pop a mouselet also. And I have a bunch of airports near me that I can fly out of. Like I can fly out of Worcester, I can fly out of Boston, I can fly out of Rhode Island and I can even fly out of like Manchester or Connecticut. So like I'm kind of in a good spot that there's like a lot of airports near me. ⁓ That being said, for me flying out of Boston just kind of is hard because getting home from the airport in Boston is not super convenient. Parking at Boston is super expensive. So. If I don't have to fly out of Boston, I will not fly out of Boston. So flying out of a smaller airport, I initially was like, when do I want to get there? Mom and Papa mouse that we're going to be there Tuesday. So I was like, well, okay, I'll fly kind of early Wednesday. I'll like work on the plane and stuff. I'm fine taking PTO. I have tons of vacation time to use. And so I'm now flying, I think like a, it's a pretty early morning flight. It's like an 8 a.m flight or something out of a smaller airport. But I was like, maybe I will fly out Tuesday night just to be with everyone. No. No Tuesday flights, no Tuesday night flights. The only Tuesday flight is a 6 a.m. or like something early in the morning.

M1: It's so weird. I'm like, is some is this because of everything related to TSA and like government stuff or is it just their

M2: I think they just like aren't running service because these smaller airports. like, then I'm like, God, if I had flown out of Boston, flying out of Boston for me is fine. I can just like commute basically like I'm going to work, flying into Boston just sucks. So.

M1: well that's how I felt about my return flight. I was like, I just want to fly back into Westchester. I want to land and have like a 20 minute drive home. I do not want to have like an hour and a half drive home. So.

M2: Same thing for me is like Mouselet A isn't going to be there. Like maybe in a different world she could pick me up. sister lives right near Boston, but in this case, she's not gonna be there when I get back. So I just want my car parked. And so I'm just gonna park my car at the airport. Also, I would never ever, ever Uber back to my house. I would be creeped out. I hate Ubering. I've never Ubered since to my home. I never would. I hate Ubers.

M1: I'm not Ubering back, we're dropping a car at the airport. Flights like in general, I find very stressful to book. As you can tell by me only booking this flight like five days ago, because it feels so final. Everything is like so rigid. Also recently when I booked a flight, actually for our last year family trip, I accidentally put my birthday as January 31st, 2025. And so when I got to the TSA agent, he was like,

M2: Yeah, I'm just saying I wouldn't. That was so funny. Which was a temporary, we flew out of Connecticut and it was a temporary gate that was so freaking far away or a temporary TSA joint. And she's walked all the way back.

M1: It was this like, yeah, this random little TSA thing. And the guy was like, yeah, he was like, I don't think you're four months old. And so your birthday's wrong. I was like, ⁓ my God, but they let me fix it. But it just feels so final. Like I hate that part of booking flights. I find that one very stressful part of air travel.

M2: I modified my flight on Wednesday to be a little earlier because they changed some times around. yeah, in general, ⁓ another reason I hate flying out of Boston, not to make this entire episode about flying out of Boston because we actually have a really fun episode planned everybody. But ⁓ was I saying flying out of Boston? ⁓ no, it's that when I leave work and I go to fly out of Boston, there's so many flights out of Boston that I become a maniac. I'm like, I'm going to get there two hours early, say a 6 p.m. flight.

M1: Moving flights around, moving flights around. ⁓ my God, yes, you are such a maniac.

M2: 6 p.m. Flight and it's like 325 and I'm headed to the airport and it's like 350 I get to security and I'm like, There's another flight of 410 and if I sprint through the terminal and I get to it Maybe I could get on that flight early and once I did it I'm running as fast as I can I get to the jet blue desk They're like, yep, if you get to the doors like you could swap it. I sprint there I didn't have any water I hadn't used the bathroom and I was in a middle seat and there was like no overhead storage It was awful. It was so bad

M1: and you like have an eat in, like you're making yourself this thing so chaotic when you could just get on your normal flight.

M2: But I got there early. I was so happy once I got there. So another reason I hate flying out of Boston is because I tried to do that. anyway.

M1: Another reason that flying travel is stressful for me is that we don't typically check a bag, so I cram everything into a carry-on and then I can't lift my suitcase over my head. And so I have to ask someone when we're walking on the plane to help me. And so I'm literally constantly scanning, looking for like a man who is going to be able to assist me.

M2: I that you can lift it over your head. believe that you have the strength to. No, I think you can lift 40 pounds over your head. Can you pick up Winnie?

M1: I can't. It's like 40 pounds. Okay, a story... Over my head? No.

M2: You couldn't hoist Winnie over your head? What? Yes, you could. Yes, you could. I think you could. I think you don't want to. I think it would be hard for you, but I think you could. And people, people give you so much like of this. If there's one thing you get hated on the most for, it's for some reason that.

M1: No! No, no I couldn't. No, I like genuinely can't. People hate it I'm like, guys, if someone ever, no one has ever said no to me when I've asked and I'm very careful with who I select to ask, but if they said no, I would say, okay, no worries.

M2: I always offered to help people. There was like two older women getting on. I lift everyone's bag. In fact, I just got off the train the other day and there was a woman, she didn't realize you have to like walk downstairs at the train station we go to and she had like coffee in her hand and a suitcase in the bag and I said, woman, help me with your suitcase. She said, actually, yes. And I grabbed her suitcase and carried it down the stairs for her. It's kind of like lesbian energy of me.

M1: Somewhere I was somewhere like fairly recently. And yeah, and someone asked me they were like, do you want me to carry your suitcase up the stairs? And normally I'm like, no, I got it. But in this case, I was like, actually, yes, I do. I do. We've told the story before about how as children, we missed a flight to Florida. And that kind of cued us then driving to Florida for many, many, years. It was crazy. But Mouselet too had this insane flight situation. I don't even remember what trip it was on, but we were in Epcot.

M2: Well, you're a new mom, so. I remember what happened. It was like it was it was like our April 2023 trip or something. ⁓ We were in Epcot. Yeah, it was because the temperature Taron was there and I'm sitting there. I remember booking the flight and being pissed that none of the flight times were what I wanted and on the way home and I was like this is making me so mad. I was booking one way each direction. I like different airlines and I was trying to find something that worked and finally I was like, ⁓ my God, finally something popped up. How did I not notice this before? And so I booked that flight. We're in Epcot. I look at my flight and like suddenly, this is how it felt to me. Obviously this didn't happen at one, but like this is how it felt to me. Suddenly in front of my very eyes, it's like the direction of travel, like it was Boston to Orlando, like swapped. it said, it was Orlando to Boston, said Boston to Orlando. And I said, I booked a flight in the wrong direction. And it was like right before I had.

M1: Hahaha And she literally, guys, she's like, it just changed before my eyes. I was looking at it.

M2: I just mean like, obviously didn't, but I'm just saying like that's how it felt. And so I had to fly into Rhode Island. This was years ago and also they still lived there. On like the latest flight, I was like the very last person to board the Southwest flight that I was like in the wrong state, had to get to Boston in the morning. It was horrible.

M1: her flight was in like three hours and she realized it was a flight from Boston to Orlando, not the other way around.

M2: And if I tried to race there, I might have made a different flight. But no, it was awful. But in general, I would say I'm kind of like a pro at flying. I'm sort of a to be a pro flying a pro packing like I can pack in a carry on for a four or five day trip like pretty easily, especially now, because this is I keep shoes. We have an owner's locker. I feel like we talked about it before. I promise we're getting to the main episode soon, guys. We have an owner's locker. It's like a big purple box. It's on our like posts all the time.

M1: It was insane. Yeah.

M2: And basically this company delivers it to our hotel and then picks it up. All that to say that inside my owner's locker, I keep a pair of running shoes and my sandals. And so when I go to Florida now, I don't have to pack running shoes and workout shoes, cause I have them there and I don't have to pack sandals cause I have them there. So I just have to wear one pair of shoes and it has changed my life with the way I pack. I have a million other things in there, but that is like my biggest space saver. I love

M1: You love that. I love the fact that we have full sized toiletries in there. And I actually was thinking, so we have full size shampoo, conditioner, lotion, I have full size hairspray. So like I have to pack way less toiletries and it's just so convenient. a problem that we always have is whenever we're staying in a villa that has more than one bathroom, we only have one shampoo and one conditioner right now. Now we have two. OK.

M2: No, we have two. We have two of each. I was just I just was in there and I was like, God, why do we have two of these?

M1: No, it's so convenient, because was literally gonna, mama and papa Mouselet are gonna be there kind of early, so I was gonna ask them to go and grab us another one, but we don't even need it. I think like, I'm feeling sad that I no longer can just pack in a carry-on. I find a checked bag to be such a burden. Like.

M2: No, have two. But because you have a baby, that's why you're saying it, right? What I'll say for you is I think that you just, have a big check bag and that way when you're that parent that looks put together, you're not carrying a million things and you just, you get your check bag and it's easy and you fold up your stroller and you just embrace that and like it will actually make things simpler, so.

M1: Yeah, because I have a baby we have too. Yes. I think so too, having a huge check bag and just like being in it rather than trying, just being like chaotic and crazy, it will ultimately be better, but I'm very used to only traveling with a carry-on. I usually have my carry-on suitcase and then I have this base, B-E-I-S, base mini weekender bag, which technically is a personal item, but fits so much stuff, specifically has very good shoe storage. And I always use that as my personal item, because I put it in that bottom part. Mine zips off, remember yours doesn't zip off, weirdly.

M2: So, I'm... Yeah, that one doesn't zip off now. Yeah, I like my base bag, but ⁓ it's a little tall when it's really full sometimes. And so like certain flights, it's hard to pack.

M1: Well, that's why I zip off the bottom part because then it's less tall.

M2: It's torture to put that back on. don't zip off anymore. So if you're trying to get a weekend mini weekend there, the bottom doesn't zip off anymore. So ⁓ not the best tip anymore.

M1: ⁓ The last thing I'll say about airport travel, we both have pre-check and like absolutely swear by it. I do have global entry, you must. No. ⁓

M2: No, I don't have global entry because mouse today doesn't. So I just like, it just doesn't make sense for me right now. Once I renew my pre check in four, three or four years, like I'll get global entry probably.

M1: Yeah, so if you get global entry and you're, if you're ever traveling internationally, global entry lets you skip the passport lines and you also get pre-check with it, but it's like $50 more expensive. Pre-check though is like $80 or something, I think for five years. No, it is so, no, cause global entry adjusted it is $120 and pre-check is less. It's so, so worth it.

M2: I thought it was like $300, no? ⁓ It's only $85. I would pay $500 for it.

M1: me too. If you don't have pre-check and you travel honestly even once a year, it is so worth it to get. I used to have clear the end pre-check. The only reason we got clear is because we were in the Orlando airport when the security line was insane and Mouseless C had an issue getting pre-check. It was this whole insane stupid thing with his name, guys, his like his driver's license, like his full name doesn't fit. It was just like, it was this whole stupid thing. And so We had to get clear on the spot in order to make our flight. You do not need clear if you have pre-check. I've never been in a pre-check line that's more than, honestly, 10 minutes. Have you?

M2: Yeah, projects. No, not probably not more than 10 minutes, maybe like 15 minutes. I love pre check. Like it's I mean, the one thing is annoying is I'm so used to pre check that now when I travel, like I'm going to Paris in like a month, which is sort of alarming to me in London. And then I'm like in an airport that I can't do that. And I'm just like, it like irks me. Yeah, you're gonna.

M1: Yeah, maybe. I know you have to take everything out and it's just like a nightmare. Also the like biggest hack if you don't have pre-check is, Orlando airport specifically has this thing called MCO reserve, which is where you just like reserve a time to go through security and you basically go through the pre-check line. It's like, I don't know why they even have it, honestly. It's weird.

M2: I think like ideally if people did reserve times, they'd be able to figure out staffing like it is a good idea. Yeah, MCO reserve is great. Mama Melsa did that for a while until I think we finally made her get TSA pre-check just because it just made sense.

M1: She literally texted us the other day being like, do I have TSA pre-check? I was like, I don't know. Did you get it?

M2: I'm sure she does. I'm almost positive she does. I remember once I like took her back, but she had this giant backpack. I took her backpack through the TSA pre-check thing because I was, I think I must've checked the suitcase because I only had one bag. That way she could just like breeze through. anyway, we have a lot to talk about. There's not much news though. So let's just cover the like one piece of news there is.

M1: This one was like a good, we just talked about this. We had said that the Pirates Adventure Game at Magic Kingdom was doing bringing back something from pre-COVID where if you played it, you would get a free lightning lane at the end. ⁓ That only lasted a few days. They have now taken it away. It is back to you just getting like the sticker or whatever you got. So.

M2: I still would like to do that. I feel like they don't really plug that game at all. And now that I don't know, like, was that really that much of an issue?

M1: I'm, I know, like was everybody doing it? I doubt it. But anyways, that's gone. ⁓ And truly guys, the news was so, so, so low. Okay, I'll say it then. Disney is re, like redoing the animation from the movies for three songs. The next right thing from Frozen 2, I don't even know that song. Beyond from Moana 2, I don't know that song either. And we don't talk about Bruno from Incanto. And they're reanimating it to be in sign language.

M2: feels unlikely. I don't even understand this next piece.

M1: which I think is really cool. They're like doing this special thing so that people who are not able to hear are able to like experience the song. They did this for the Barbie movie. They had a sign language version of the Barbie movie. ⁓ Anyways.

M2: I like the idea of this, but I think that knowing that most people watch these movies on Disney Plus now, I just think it would make more sense to just have a sign language enabled version. Like they have a sing along version of High School Musical, whatever that like, say for Olaf, like, well, if doesn't have hands, but like whatever someone's just in Bruno, whatever front conto like a character is in the bottom corner. This is a pop up that's doing sign language because it's like, ⁓ how nice that

M1: Horrible example! ⁓

M2: You can listen to the next right thing from Frozen 2 with sign language, but the rest of the songs you can't. So I think. I like the idea, but like I don't know. I think they could have executed it better, but that that's all the news, which is actually good because we've been chatting for awhile now, so we have a really, really good main topic.

M1: Yeah, it's kind of random.

M2: Today we are talking about unused spaces at Disney, quasi like abandoned spaces at Disney, spaces that used to house a restaurant or a show or an attraction, whatever it is. And now they've just sat there empty and we're gonna talk about where they are and why they're empty. And then if there is a future for them, I'm excited.

M1: I think that you're going to be surprised at how many there are. And when we were coming up with this list, we decided to do 10, but we had more than 10. Like there are others. Yeah, there are other spaces. So like maybe we'll do a part two at some point, but you would be surprised at how many places are just kind of sitting. So the first one is this one is I love because it is some true like.

M2: with 17. It's so iconic. It's the noodle bar. We call this space the noodle bar. If you went to Magic Kingdom during a certain era, you too may call this space the noodle bar. If you didn't, you have probably have no idea what we're talking about. And I'm going to tell you now. So the noodle bar has some pretty cool history. And that is that when Magic Kingdom opened, they wanted to have a quick service restaurant in every single land. They learned a lot of lessons from Disneyland and the fact that Quick service was super important. These high volume that could output a ton of food quickly. So every single land, well, all but one land had these. These were Pinocchio's Village House, Paco Bill's Cafe, the Nantucket Harbor House, which is now Columbia Harbor House in Liberty Square, the Tomorrowland Terrace, which is where Cosmic Rays is today, and then the Adventureland Veranda. So six lands, five quick service places. The only land that didn't have a huge quick service place was Main Street. And in 1971 and 1972, they were very quickly realizing they didn't have enough places for people to eat. And so they needed to add one. And so they decided to add one into Magic Kingdom.

M1: This is so interesting to me. like am only reading what Mouse Look 2 wrote for the first time right now. I didn't realize that Casey's wasn't there. What was in Casey's spot? Store?

M2: KC June you're coming round the track. I don't actually I don't know what wasn't there I guess it wasn't like a big housing if it was there was a smaller one I didn't yeah

M1: That's so interesting. Maybe it was just like a stand at the time or maybe it wasn't there. I don't know how interesting.

M2: Could have been like a Coca-Cola place, what it is at Disneyland or something maybe. ⁓ But they didn't have like this high volume place. Like there are other places that you could eat, right? But they were the Adventureland Veranda or that's a terrible example, because that's not there anymore. Pinocchio's Village House, Huge, huge, huge volumes of food coming out of it. And so they decided to add in a quick service to Main Street USA right next to the Plaza Ice Cream and the Plaza Restaurant, the Plaza Pavilion. Weirdly though it was themed to Tomorrowland despite the fact that they said it was a part of Main Street It was themed to Tomorrowland. It was between it's right by the purple wall You might know it today is the Tomorrowland Terrace area the old noodle bar But that was technically a part of Main Street and they also added that walkway there So that wasn't original to the park that came in 1973 They ⁓ serve pizza and burgers there and then in 1990 it kind of became more like Italian food. They had deep-dish pizza spaghetti meatballs, Italian hoagies were something that was very notable there. Finally, Yeah, finally in 2004, they closed the Tomorrowland Terrace and it returned in 2005, sorry, the Plaza Pavilion and it returned in 2005 as the Tomorrowland Terrace noodle station, which served sushi and noodle bowls, hence the noodle station and stir fry. But really cool piece of history that's very hard to explain with words is that

M1: It's so random.

M2: The Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant used to be the location that Cosmic Rays is today. And from 1971 to 1994, the Tomorrowland Terrace was that. In 1994, it opened up as Cosmic Rays and the Tomorrowland Terrace name did not exist. And then they moved the Tomorrowland Terrace name to what is the Tomorrowland Terrace now in 2004. So like they did a bunch of rearranging. I think they liked the name Tomorrowland Terrace. They both have terraces. ⁓ So this existed as the noodle bar for a bit, you 2005, 2006, 2007, it became seasonal. So it was short-lived. We clearly hit it at the time that it was in a Tay Day.

M1: Honestly though, I don't even ever remember eating at the noodle bar, I just know that it was called the noodle bar.

M2: A noodle bar. Yeah, it was the noodle bar. We cut through there, guess, a lot. ⁓

M1: we always cut through there because we would always rope drop Space Mountain. And so yeah, we would just go and cut through up there.

M2: So it would be open seasonally for a while. Eventually it didn't make sense to serve alternate foods, noodles, seasonally, because like they didn't have the other places. So then it kind of switched to just having like pizza and that type of stuff. And then it closed officially. And now it is used for dessert parties, ⁓ fireworks dessert parties specifically. It's a really odd use of the space. I'm not saying I think it should be a quick service restaurant again, although I kind of think I do, because it's sort of like a vibe over there, but. The dessert party set up, the whole thing is just odd. I think they don't know what to do with it.

M1: They don't. And so we've done like ⁓ brand events where we've had breakfast there because it's a really nice view of the castle and like kind of like a secluded area. But for that and for the dessert parties that they do every night, everything is set up like makeshift. They don't really actually use the infrastructure of the restaurant. They just have like makeshift curtains and makeshift tables. It all feels a little bit ranky, ranky, Like it's just.

M2: Yeah, it does feel very kidek.

M1: like but it is a really nice space because of the view that it has of the castle. They should redo it in a way that is just created then for dessert parties. I don't think that they are going to anytime soon honestly.

M2: And it hap- I don't think there's the reason to, because people pay for that dessert party. But what I was gonna say is, so another cool little piece of history is that they used to have a stage built out there. It just was like kind of a temporary stage and they had this like aristocats themed band that would play there sometimes and other types of live music. In my mind, I feel like they could make this place kind of like a connections, bring in a cool Tomorrowland vibe, make it a little bit almost like a rotational dining thing like what they have at festivals. I feel like they could reopen this as quick service.

M1: They definitely could. I know, because it's never open. They should just do something. Like, it's very odd right now. People sometimes eat lunch there because it's like just a big open seating area. It's nice, honestly, but like the way that they use it at the moment is always very kind of ranky to Hank because they don't use the actual setup.

M2: I don't know why they don't. I wonder how the kitchen is doing back there. Yeah, I think that that one is the one that we're going deepest into because for some reason we love the noodle bar. We specifically call it that. But yeah, that's a history as you cut through. If you're over by the purple wall, take note of the fact that you can see the old quick service kiosks and things. And there's also if there's if it's open, there's a nice private bathroom back there. Probably my favorite bathroom in Magic Kingdom is just closed a lot.

M1: We love the noodle bar. Yeah, sticking with, we're gonna do all of Magic Kingdom first. We're gonna go to one that you definitely are aware of, and this is Stitch's Great Escape. Obviously, Stitch's Great Escape was the Stitch's Great Escape ride, but prior to that, it was a different attraction. It was called Alien. I did a whole YouTube deep dive on this if you're interested, but the gist is that Michael Eisner originally wanted to make an attraction based off of the movie Alien. Like there's an actual movie called Alien. You may remember it from the great movie ride. wanted to do an attraction based off that. At the time they couldn't get the rights but he said whatever it's fine we'll just make our own alien. So they created this like alien encounter ride where they made a very scary alien and it was basically Stitch's Great Escape but rather than encountering Stitch you encountered this alien that they created it was ultimately way too scary. Yes.

M2: The theater style also was kind of like limiting to them because originally it was Flight to the Moon and the Mission to Mars, this like circular theater and they were, I feel like they're really like stuck, backed into a corner to actually use that. And so Alien Encounter used that same circular theater set up too.

M1: Yeah, they've like kept it forever since it was originally there. So after Alien Encounter, it turned to Stitch's Great Escape. Obviously Stitch's Great Escape then closed. For a bit, they like reused the sort of entrance area as a Stitch meet and greet. They kind of kept it as Stitch, but it wasn't like using the whole attraction anymore.

M2: And at special events, they would allow you into that queue area. Now it's just like they don't even open the doors for guests.

M1: No, because that whole area has just turned into a cast member break room. I think that this is so creepy, honestly. We do know that the Stitch animatronic has been removed. There were like backstage photos of it, like totally disassembled. It's actually so creepy. So the Stitch thing isn't there anymore, but apparently, you know, the pre-show area and then into the actual theater are a cast member break room and cast members can go like sit in the theater on breaks.

M2: horrifying. We only know that because every time we post about it, cast members are like, that's a break room now. Like I sit in those seats. It's really weird. And there's some interesting kind of lore behind like why they haven't redone it. People are like, why not? I mean, one, think they're really limited by the space and what can be done. People said they had plans and then COVID hit. I'm sure they've talked about how to reuse the space. I'm sure they have. But one of the things that people say back to the noodle bar kind of lore is that Cosmic Rays and Stitches Great Escape and like Anti-Gravities, those are all one attached building. They're all like a part of one building. And supposedly, this is what people say backstage kind of tidbits, there's asbestos in the building. I wouldn't be surprised because of when it was built and things like they're likely, there probably could be. And that if they wanted to kind of gut, say Stitches Great Escape and put in something that wasn't that same theater style, they'd have to do a lot of work including. know, treatment for that type of thing, asbestos, all that. And in order to do that, people say they may have to close Cosmic Rays, which is the restaurant on property that puts out the most food. And it would be like so challenging to close that. I mean, maybe they should reopen the noodle bar.

M1: an idea open the noodle bar reopen the noodle bar close cosmic rays for a bit and redo it that would be great

M2: I think they should put a Wally and Eve attraction there. Like that would be so perfect. You don't have to the tubes, but like they can pop up. ⁓ it'd be so good.

M1: There was a rumor for a while that they were going to turn it into like a Wreck-It Ralph like racing thing. I have no idea if that was ever actually true. It's I think Tomorrowland already has so many attractions that it's not like this land is like absolutely needing something there. It's just weird that it's a giant empty area right when you walk into the land.

M2: Stitch was so unpopular at the time, but they did that live action and he's kind of making a resurgence. And I'm almost like, they should have just kind of left it and made it a different type of show. They didn't have to make it as like creepy and terrifying. They could have done something else with it. They probably should have just left it a stitch. I bet they wish that they had just left it a stitch.

M1: They tried to make it seasonal for a while. Honestly, even that was like, at least it was something. It's just so odd to like have fully closed it. But RIP. Next up, we're going to the other side of the park to Adventureland.

M2: This is one that I think most people probably don't even know that this is like a closed semi sort of abandoned space in Adventureland. mean, honorable mention to where they used to have these little racing boats in the corner by Jungle Cruise, because I'm not going to talk about that. Although I wish I was, but it was cut from our list, maybe part two. But there used to be a huge complex of stores in Adventureland that are now all closed. It was called the Adventureland Bazaar, and it kind of took... It kind of followed, guess, the example of what Disneyland had, which is that when Disneyland had all these stores, they were all very themed to each land. So if you were in Adventureland, you weren't going to just buy like a Mickey something. It would be themed to the land, kind of like what Epcot is now, right? And instead of just having like a traditional gift shop. And so the Adventureland Bazaar was surrounded by like five or six different stores inside of a greater courtyard area. That courtyard area is now where the Magic Carpet Ride was. That sort of... That was sort of the start of the end for all of these stores. ⁓ There are five stores and then also one off to the side, which is the Sunglasses Hut. So I'll mention that, but I'm gonna go through what they are briefly. I have no memory of any of these stores. I vaguely remember this area being a little more open than it is now, but like.

M1: honestly really don't, again, there were certain things our family did, certain things our family didn't do, and Adventureland was something we just really did not do much of. We did Swiss Family Treehouse, we did Pirates, but we never did Jungle Cruise, we didn't do the Magic Carpets, and just that area we didn't really explore, sadly.

M2: So yeah, kind of, wish knowing this now, I wish we had, but we'd sort of missed the heyday anyway. So if you remember these things, tell me more about it. So here, the first store, the shop, the Tiki Tropic shop, and this was located basically all the way over near where you can kind of get like dole whips today, like where Aladdin and Jasmine meet now. This sold Polynesian and Hawaiian shirt dresses. Eventually it closed in 2000 and it became like a backstage area. So yes, they still meet in front of it, but behind where Aladdin and Jasmine meet, and they're also, they're barely ever there, it's an old store. And then over kind of right to the right of that, there was another store in this complex called the Magic Carpet. This sold like brass items and pearl items, kind of like fancy, almost like collectible type things. It closed in 1987 and became another store called Elephant Tales. And then that too closed and now it's just a merchandise stockroom. So you can't even like see it now other than the fact that it's behind the walls. The next door was Traders of Timbuktu. This is my favorite just from the pictures of it. It was this hexagonal dome. It was super beautiful. It sold really cool like African items. That too is closed. Part of it was demolished to make way for the magic carpet ride and kind of open up that courtyard more. Some of it's there with just like random. They used to sell like plastic snakes over there after. Next up, Tropic Toppers. This is now also just a seating area, but this used to be a hot store. They also sold some toys. It closed in 1988. It became the Xanad Bar Shell Company. And then that too was closed. And now it's just like a merchandise stockroom with a little porch area and the porch area is where you can sit. Like maybe you've had a Dole Whip there or something. Two more Oriental Imports. This was open. This was like all the way in the back area too. Closed in 1987, became converted into another store briefly. It had sold things from like China and Japan, silks and woods, that's kind of how it was described. And it was accessed by a ramp. And that's kind of important because if you look really closely, you can kind of see a little trace of the fact that there's a ramp back there. It is now a merchandise stock room. And then the last one was Colonel Hathi's Safari Club slash Island Supply. This actually started as an arcade. It was an arcade for like a singular year. And then it became just like a tropical themed store. And then In 2015, it became a sunglasses hut. That's crazy to me because we went to Disney. I didn't know it was a sunglasses hut. I thought it was sunglasses hut for a long time. So the weird thing about all these stores is that they're not super notable. You could walk between them and unless you were there really early, like seventies and eighties, you probably didn't notice all of these different distinct areas. And now there's no store there. Now it is literally, I think there's a cash register again, where they used to sell fake snakes because I have a video of mouse.

M1: Yeah.

M2: three being scared, our brother being scared of the fake snake. But everything is just walled off in merchandise stock rooms. Merchandise for what? There's no gift shop.

M1: I the sunglasses, I think that this is a devastating change. Mouselet too knows this. This is a little bit of a... I hate the magic carpets area of our Adventureland. I do not think it makes any sense. And like it is one of the things I like literally hate the most about Magic Kingdom slash Walt Disney World. I do not like it. I love Adventureland in Disneyland and Disneyland Paris. The Adventureland that's the true like jungle explorer sort of like, you the explorer that never was vibes, stuff like that. Jungle Cruise basically. I do not like how they tried to plop like magic carpets and Agrabah in to Adventureland. I don't think it makes sense and like I understand what they were trying to do whatever but the fact they used to have this like immersive level of of shops that were selling like all these different wares and like Tiki and Timbuktu and stuff all of that to me is such a better fit for Adventureland rather than popping in this dumb spinner instead of just making a better thing for Jasmine than the Latin elsewhere.

M2: I'll probably do like a post, cause there's a really cool map that actually shows the layout that I found on a blog. And I'll probably just put it in stories or something. So take a look at our stories. I'm going to share this there just so you can kind of see it is just such a shame because you don't really notice it, but it feels incomplete. The land feels very shallow, almost shallow in that, like you can't get deep into the depth of it. And I agree, like they tried to add this. the Agrabah area and that's fine. If you wanna add that, if they need a spinner ride there, it changes the vibe, but like, okay. Why not have stores there still? And they're merchandise stock rooms. I'm like, what a waste. Stock it up somewhere else, come on.

M1: For this segment, we had like three bullets for each one. We had the history, the current use and the potential future use. For this one, the potential future use, I honestly do not ever see them really bringing this back. Like they have no reason to.

M2: It's yeah, it's a shame. mean, where can the other than like the tiny little pirate store, there's just not that much you can buy there. They love merch, maybe if there was like a big, big, big push, but they have a couple of little stands like when you enter. I just don't know if it would ever be worthwhile to them to open this up and like that infrastructure and stuff, which is a shame. The blog I read said that in like the 1990s, there was some executive at Disney that was like obsessed with like merchandise stock rooms and all. Who knows?

M1: Yeah.

M2: There clearly is some more lore there. Maybe we'll dive into it another time, but I'm sad because I do agree. I don't think this will ever this will ever reopen. And if they were going to reopen it, it would have been when they redid the shooting arcade.

M1: Yeah, and because the shooting arcade like backs up into this whole area. So the next one that we're going to discuss, our final one for Magic Kingdom is you probably remember this. There used to be a Tinkerbell meet and greet in the Main Street theater where you can meet Mickey Mouse right when you walk into Main Street on the right hand side. There was a Tinkerbell meet and greet. And so back in the day when this was like first opened, ⁓ there was an actual show, like a movie in there called The Walt Disney Story Show. That's why this building is called the Main Street Theater. It was two different theaters and you could basically see a story of Walt's life told through his own voice. They pulled his own voice from like interviews and stuff like that. And it was that for a very, very long time. It closed in, I think the nineties. And then it eventually was converted into these meet and greets and honestly kind of random. It was meet Mickey Mouse and meet Tinkerbell. I don't know how or why they picked those two characters.

M2: I think it was, I'm pretty sure it was around the time of when they redid Fantasyland that they lost the Toontown Mickey meet and greet and then they almost built a pixie hollow for Tink but didn't. And so they were like, put two characters there. I don't know, that's my guess.

M1: And so like you've met Mickey there probably his is sort of like magician themed. You're meeting like the magician Mickey and then the Tinkerbell one. She also had a full area of custom props with like, I don't know, big trees and mushrooms. We only went in there, I think literally like one time, but it was always meet Mickey and meet Tinkerbell. Then when COVID happened and character meet and greet stopped, they closed the meet and greet and then it came back with Mickey and Tinkerbell didn't come back yet. And it was like, all right, whatever.

M2: once, once, yeah.

M1: she'll come back soon. No, Tinkerbell has never come back, which Tinkerbell still is in the parks. Tinkerbell is still in the parade. It's not like they don't really have Tinkerbells anymore or anything, but for some reason they have just not reopened that one. I find it very, very odd.

M2: They had the signs up until like 2024. And then they took those down. I'm just like, why? I genuinely don't understand. It's so weird. And I'm pretty sure that that was one of the first locations that they replaced the photo pass with those stupid boxes that take your pictures, which they still have in the Mickey one. So it's like, what was the staffing they needed? I do not understand.

M1: it's again this isn't just like a generic it's not like ⁓ maybe they're using it for more Mickey meat and greets or something, no this is an area themed specifically to Tinkerbell, they can't use it for anything else unless they got it which as far as we know they're not doing. It seems like such a waste, why not reopen it?

M2: So weird. I don't, and also they don't even need more Mickey meet and greets because they have plenty on that side. Like there's, they've got that handled. I'm perplexed. If anyone happens to know more about this because you have like been in that area recently, you're a cast member, sliding door DMs. So curious.

M1: The only thing that they can use this area for as it currently stands is a meet and greet. I do not see them gutting it anytime soon. The Mickey one is very popular. It's the only place to meet Mickey in the park. Like, I guess they could change it to a different character and change out all the decor from Tinkerbell, but like, why?

M2: Yeah. Why? Why? Someone needs to study like the downfall of Tinkerbell in the parks because she used to be like the it girl in the 2000s.

M1: they just did that redid pixie halloween disneyland and like brought her back why not bring her back at disney world too you have a spot it's so weird anyways let us know we're gonna move on to epcot

M2: It's so weird to me. Okay. Next up Epcot. This is one that I think everybody knows about. So I don't need to get into the history quite as much, but this is about the Wonders of Life Pavilion. If you aren't super familiar with it, when Epcot opened, or maybe you don't know this fact, they wanted to have these distinct pavilions themed around different themes. So like a communication pavilion, was Spaceship Earth, Innovation, CommuniCorps, Energy, obviously the Energy Pavilion, Transportation, ⁓ ecosystems, imagination. And then they also opened up later the ocean, which is obviously the seas, right? That's the theme, the future, just horizons. And then the body and that opened in 1989. So the wonders of life pavilion opened up like five, no, seven years after Epcot opened up and it was themed all around the body. Originally it was sponsored by MetLife from 1989 to 2001. And they really were the driving kind of force in any updates made to it. There are a bunch of smaller kind of attractions and then two larger attractions. One was Body Wars. That was a simulator style attraction similar to Star Tours that took you through someone's like quote body, you were shrunk down microscopically. And then they also had a show Cranium Command, which is where iconically Buzzy was. I think we should do a deep dive on Buzzy. So I'm not gonna get into all the Buzzy lore because there's so much cool stuff to talk about. But eventually MetLife dropped their sponsorship in 2001. And after that, like updates weren't being made and it just, think Disney didn't have as much of a driving factor to like keep this open. It felt really, really dated. Yeah. It gave eighties.

M1: Also, it was dated. Yeah, it was super dated. had a, yeah, and they had a ⁓ movie in there called The Making of Me with Martin Short. Martin Short is like all over Disney. It's so random, but which was literally about like how babies are made. I don't know. I think maybe in the 80s that was like, I think probably by the 2000s people were kind of like, meh, for kids, I don't know.

M2: Yeah, it just like it just gave dated. It gave dated. They could have updated it, but without a sponsor, they like weren't going to. So finally in 2004, it just became seasonal. Like they would open it during busy times. And then eventually they just closed it entirely. The wonders of life. They put up curtains and from 2007 to 2018, it was used as a festival center. This is a little bit of. We've definitely told the story before, at least for the Patreon segment, where we went to a Crusty's PowerPoint presentation about how to make the history of pancakes.

M1: If you don't know what Crustiz is, it is a pancake mix. during, I guess it was Flower and Garden, although this sounds like more of a food and wine thing. They were doing these little like pop-up presentations and one of them was about pancakes or something and we were there for us. We were like, sure, we'll go. It was an ad for Crustiz. And we got a free box of ⁓ Crustiz.

M2: PowerPoint presentation. Yeah, I actually see Christie's in my stop and chop all the time. And I'm like, it's so notable to me. But it was very, very, very makeshift. It was like the most makeshift thing. And then finally, they decided to close it as like this temporary festival. They announced that it was going to be transformed into the play pavilion. The concepts and what they shared for the play pavilion was always very vague. They always showed it with a bunch of ⁓ emojis and saying it would have these little like booths that you could go into kind of like a mini Disney Quest, very like virtual.

M1: It like gave the energy of rec- if you can picture like the internet scene in Wreck-It Ralph, that's always what it reminded me of. Kind of like digital things popping up everywhere, but they never really said what this meant. They just said it was going to be about play.

M2: There was never gonna, and there was never gonna be like a ride. They were set a playground. think, I don't know, they were still working through concepts, but they were advertising it through like 2000 in the Epcot experience. ⁓ And then COVID and they just like never did it and they were doing some work and then they just never did it. And it just sits there unused. So like, will the Play Pavilion happen? No. I think if it does, if some like sponsor came in and was like, we wanna do this whole thing, I think they would do it. But I just like, I don't know if, They have like a motivating reason to do it. I don't feel like they actually need it in Epcot right now. And they've said that the Epcot transformation Disney executives have said the Epcot transformation is complete. So it ain't Agreed.

M1: think one day they'll reuse this space in some way. They've maintained the building. They've, we've, you know, sometimes they've seen people on the roof, like fixing the roof and stuff like that, like the gold dome. One day they will turn it into something. I don't think they have any plans to do so anytime soon. They don't need to. It is truly devastating to me that this is another one of the things that our family never did. The only time that we went into the Wonders of Life Pavilion was when it was a festival center. I recently found all of those pictures that I took of it. Like,

M2: Yeah, we went in early too because there was a woman from HGTV show design star who was gonna be there and we went in I don't even know if we knew where we were I think I did because I loved like abandoned things

M1: I did doc- No we didn't. Well we must have because I did take all those pictures and was like, I took a bunch of pictures of the pavilion and like curtains and stuff and like old things. I clearly like knew that it used to be something.

M2: We clearly had discovered, I don't know how, barely had the internet, literally.

M1: Yeah, I don't know how we figured that out, but we did. But we never went into it or experienced it when it was Wonders of Life. Again, it was just one of those things that our family for some reason didn't do. Bummer. OK, the next one is another pavilion in Future World. This is the Imagination Pavilion. So obviously, if you've looked at the Imagination Pavilion, it has two big glass pyramids. And in back in the day.

M2: Bummer Bumsky.

M1: Image Works, which is now the thing that's like at the exit of the Figment ride on the first floor. But there used to be a different type of Image Works experience up in those playgrounds. It was called the Image Works Creative Playground of the Future. And so after the ride ended, there would be like a little staircase that would take you up there and you could experience Image Works. There were a ton of things up there. I'm going to run through some of them. There was this iconic rainbow tunnel, which was like this light up. tunnel. There's very famously a photo of Michael Jackson in the rainbow tunnel. It's very random. ⁓ that makes sense. Yep. Okay. There was something called Figment's Coloring Book where like there was a very early form of projection where you could like color in images of Figment and Dreamfinder. There was a sensor maze. That's what had the rainbow quarter, but also this like these funhouse mirror type things and like voice, voice changer stuff like that.

M2: No, it's because of was there because of Captain EO.

M1: There was Dream Finder School of Drama where people could go and like put themselves into a movie under the direction of Dream Finder, the electronic Philharmonic, all of these various like, you know, sensory experiences, right? And so that was up in the two glass pyramids. Then when the original Journey Into Imagination attraction was changed into the second incarnation, which was Journey Into Your Imagination, by the way, that one was extremely short lived, and then it became what we have now. ⁓ they sealed off the staircase up to Imageworks up there and you couldn't get up there anymore and they eventually redid Imageworks in its current form down on the first floor, is, yeah, I was gonna say, which is really lacking compared to what they have. The reason they did this is the Imageworks upstairs was dated. Again, like it was using, it was trying to use new technologies at the time, but like 20.

M2: Thanks.

M1: years later, whatever it was, was no longer really new. It needed to be updated. Disney didn't want to update it. And so they closed it.

M2: They also reworked the track of the imagination ride a little. They had this like huge turntable and loading area. They shortened it up and changed that a little bit. So yeah, they could space to fit image works down there. It was probably easier for them to maintain too.

M1: I'm sure it was easier for them to maintain. But so when it was closed, they would still continue to use the event space up there apparently for private events. And then I found something that said that in the summer of 2006, they were testing the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure Game. If you remember that game, it's now DuckTales had many iterations, but it started as Kim Possible and they were testing making the end scene take place in the old image works. But they they cut that. And after a while, they just abandoned the area. They didn't do anything with it for a long time. urban explorers would actually sneak up there and like see the old abandoned rainbow tunnel. was creepy.

M2: There I this is one of my many obsessions I went to Disney with like a girl from college in like 2015 or 2016 and Through the gift shop if you cut to the queue there was an area It was open to guests just to be clear and there was an old abandoned escalator closed off by like a metal cage I have a picture of myself. I'll put in stories, too I have a picture of myself standing in front of it. It was like so iconic. They've Finally sealed that off, but that led up to the old abandoned part of the pyramid.

M1: So in 2016, they took the lobby of the original Imageworks, which was one of the pyramids, and they turned it into what is now the Disney Vacation Club Lounge. It's technically called the Imagine Atrium Lounge. ⁓ There's like, whatever, a bunch of stuff up there for the lounge area, but the other pyramid is still empty, still abandoned. For a while, there was like a vent in the DVC lounge that you could apparently look through.

M2: I didn't know that. I was gonna say, we looked through it. We went up there. Someone invited us up there and you could see like, you couldn't see, they'd put a curtain in front of it. Now you can't see anything. So don't go snooping near that vent. Trust me. Been there, tried that.

M1: Yeah. Yeah, there's nothing, but they haven't done anything with the second pyramid. And so in terms of like the potential future, at some point they need to redo the figment ride. ⁓ One day they will. Will they put anything up in that pyramid for it? I don't really think so. They have the space to have an exit area when you get off of figment. I don't think they'll bother changing the track again or anything. So like there's no reason to really send people up there. They don't have the convenient staircases anymore and stuff.

M2: Yeah.

M1: If anything, I think it would potentially be a lounge expansion of the DVC lounge or like private event space, like dressed up a little bit more, but.

M2: maybe private event space, it, yeah, I also agree. I don't know if I see them doing anything. Like they've sort of abandoned the whole, the full pavilion concept at Epcot anyway. Used to want you to go into a pavilion for like hours and that's not really the vibe anymore. So it's a shame. And you can tell the pyramid's abandoned because it's like blacked out. It's creepy.

M1: really weird. One of the only pavilions that like does still have kind of that original like go into it for hours vibe is the land pavilion which is a perfect segue because that's what we're talking about next.

M2: The, yes, the land pavilion is one that you can explore for a long time because it has so many attractions in different restaurants. So it has Soarin', it has Living with the Land, it has Sunshine Seasons, which is the restaurant downstairs. Upstairs, it has Awesome Planet, and then it has ⁓ the, what's that? Garden Grill. Garden Grill, was thinking the tour, they used to have a different name. It used to be the Good Turn Restaurant, which is important to the story. So those are the only two levels that guests are ever on, but a,

M1: Garden Grow.

M2: Above the Garden Grill restaurant, which is kind of slowly rotates. If you haven't been in there, it's actually one of my favorite restaurants as a vegetarian. ⁓ Cookie loaf, cookie loaf, Laura, but. I actually have bad news. All vegetarians they've removed the cookie loaf. They don't have it anymore.

M1: Do not get into the cookie loaf right now. And you know what? Nobody wanted the cookie loaf nor even knows what that is.

M2: Any hoodles. So above that restaurant, there used to be a corporate lounge. Every single Future World Pavilion had a corporate lounge, and most of them actually still do have a corporate lounge. It's for the sponsor. It's just like a perk, basically, if you're a sponsor. So if you sponsored the Seas Pavilion, there's still a corporate lounge there. Now it's just an event space. But they carved out all of these spaces because having corporate sponsors was a critical part of the, I guess, the planning for Epcot. And so for the original sponsor, Who craft I think craft was universal sponsor then it became Nestle They had this lounge on the very the third floor if you're standing in the land and you look above Garden Grill, you can see these like windows and that that was the old lounge It was just used for like corporate things a little perk Eventually when the court, know corporate sponsors ended they turned it into an annual pass holder lounge ⁓ Briefly and like the kind of mid-2000s. There are a couple of pictures online about it. It gives really dated old corporate lounge that wasn't that special, just kind of like random. And it also was like mildly inaccessible. It just like wasn't needed. Really, it just wasn't. It was a different kind of time and day. So now it is used for cast member trainings, primarily. They'll do like training there. ⁓ It's I think sort of a break room also, but primarily people have said it's for cast member training. Chiquitas, who's the sponsor of Living with the Land, they're like a banana company. They are one of the only sponsors in Epcot that does not have a corporate lounge. I wonder if they're sad by that.

M1: They might be.

M2: I would be if I was Chiquita. So is there a potential future use? No, I Chiquita's is in there. If they got some huge sponsor, I still don't even think it would like a corporate lounge would be that big of a selling point. ⁓ I do think the land is getting ready for an update. I personally foresee that coming because it gives very dated like sunshine seasons. That whole area is very dated. I could see them making updates. I don't think that they would open that lounge because I just don't think that there's any gain for them to do it so.

M1: infrastructure was never built to be accessible by guests. Although like a little bonus piece of info is the new Geo 82 lounge at um by Spaceship Earth that took the place of the old corporate lounge for the Spaceship Earth Pavilion. Yeah was the Siemens lounge. We went in there when we did the what was that tour called that we did the few there was

M2: Siemens. Yeah. undiscovered future world, which is a tour that was so cool, but it's now gone.

M1: It was an amazing tour they had of Epcot that we happened to do like right before they got rid of it. We got to go in the old Siemens lounge. It was literally nothing. It was just like a big empty space that they used for like private events sometimes, but they turned it into Geo 82, which is cool. And there was infrastructure that made sense for that. The not Chiquita Banana Lounge, yeah. The not Chiquita Banana Lounge. There's no infrastructure. It just doesn't make sense.

M2: It's not the Jekyll loud. I just don't think it would really offer you that much either. Like, I don't know. So it probably will just remain that, but it is a weird, there's a lot of actually corporate lounges that are like semi unused. Maybe we'll do a corporate lounge deep dive, but now we're getting into Hollywood.

M1: So in Hollywood studios, there is an area that Disney now calls Munisaberg, although whenever we say Munisaberg, everybody's like, what are you talking about? So it's like the old Pixar place, right? Like after you go past one man's dream and you're turning right to go up towards Toy Story, on your left is a little alley ⁓ that is just kind of nothing because when it originally was built, when they had Toy Story Mania, that's where the entrance to Toy Story Mania was. And you would go in, it was this little... alley of Pixar plays and then.

M2: It was called Mickey Avenue if you were like hit it at the very beginning if you haven't been in a long time and that's like notable to you.

M1: Yeah and then like as you went through to the other side, the entrance to the backlot tour was there. There were these iconic to us giant Coca-Cola bottles and one of them was a mister. I don't know why we were like obsessed with those.

M2: Yeah. Those like stick out to me so much though, like literally so much.

M1: Same, was trying to figure out as I was prepping for this ⁓ podcast, I was trying to figure out what was in the space that now houses the Edna Mode meet and greet. I couldn't figure it out, but I did find out that there used to be a little quick service thing called Hey Howdy Hey Takeaway. That's now the area where they sell the num num cookies, but I saw pictures of it. I don't remember it literally at all.

M2: Yeah. I have no memory of that. So yeah, no clue.

M1: But basically when they built Toy Story Land, they flipped the entrance to Toy Story Mania. So rather than you coming in from that side, you come in from the other side of the building. And so like it's sealed off in terms of being an entrance. And then with the whole Galaxy's Edge build and stuff, Melslyn too can talk more about this because she's done a whole deep dive, but they basically cut Hollywood Studios off in like the worst possible way.

M2: I have done a deep dive on this. like, it's my true Roman Empire. They built the Galaxy's Edge. They wanted it to be fully immersive. They built this huge berm around it, but it truncated Muppet Courtyard. It truncated like Grand Avenue. They couldn't fit the like old playground anymore. And this just dead ends now. It literally cannot continue because you would run into the berm of Galaxy's Edge. Hypothetically, if Galaxy's Edge didn't have this huge berm, you'd be able to kind of flow in between them. And honestly, like another entrance to Galaxy's Edge wouldn't actually be that bad. Like, I don't think that that would be the worst thing in the world if they had tried to do that, but you have to cross a backstage road that they use for like access of all sorts of things. And so I think it would just be kind of a pain. Even another example, when you're exiting Twister-y mania now, there's like a popsicle stick wall. Those walls could both move, cause that can turn into a road. So they can like access back and forth. They just destroyed the flow. My favorite piece of little history is that there's an old building facade back there that they just left from when it was previously themed. It's just sitting there backstage and you can only see it when they sometimes let you out of Toy Story Mania and like this weird emergency exit that they sometimes use. You peek over the hedges, you can see it. Cool piece of little lore there.

M1: The issue for them is that they've created this problem for themselves where that can never go anywhere and then like the building to the right is Toy Story mania so they can't put anything in that building and then the buildings to the left is the back of ABC commissary it's ABC commissary so like there's nowhere to put anything like an attraction so they've they've attempted to make do like.

M2: Correct.

M1: They turned it into Municeburg and they had like, what was that Incredibles thing that they had there called? They had some little like Incredibles festival. Yeah. Now there's an Edna mode meet and greet. There's like, know, Sully will meet back there, Frozone is sometimes walking around, but it is the most random dead space. It doesn't make sense.

M2: Showdown or something. Yeah, I can't remember what it was. It's so weird. I'm looking at an old street view of it and it was like almost random back then, but at least it connected to the backlot tour. That was like what it had going for it.

M1: It was, yeah, it was random back then, but it connected somewhere. So it was like it was OK. And it was like a cute little Pixar place alley. Now it's just this dead end that I truly have no idea what they could ever actually do with. They've sort of done what they can with this weird outdoor space.

M2: I think that they could turn it into a little theater and that's the only thing that they could possibly do with it.

M1: Yeah, a little outdoor theater, they could just make that whole area a little theater. It's bad. I mean, like the fact that in order to get to Toy Story Land, you have to walk so far of just like nothingness. There's just nothing because you're walking around Toy Story Mania.

M2: Yeah, they've backed themselves into a corner. on theme. They did a terrible job planning that park and I will say that take that to my literal grave. The other thing is the Edna Mode, wait, I just posted this on our close friend story for our Peach Crew. ⁓ If you want to have close friends access on Instagram, take a look at our Peach Crew because they get that. That's our Patreon group and Edna Mode back there. I have never had recently all of my experiences with have been bad.

M1: We, I think we said this maybe on the P.S. Crew segment, but when we were doing my like little gender reveal video, we brought like a plush Mickey and a plush Minnie and we were asking characters like, do you think the baby's gonna be a boy or girl? And they would point to the Mickey or Minnie. Edna mode, when we did it with her, whoof, whoof, was tough.

M2: But like, I just watched another interaction someone had with her. I think she's like sassy and grumpy kind of in the movie, but that's like the vibe the character plays, because she can't speak, it just like does not come across. yeah, there's never a line if you want to go meet her.

M1: I was gonna say, if you would like to meet her, there's literally never a line ever because it's random.

M2: They should have. They should bring back the shindig. I mean, honestly, like it's bad. It's it's bad over there. OK, another unused space at Hollywood Studios. There's a lot of like weird unallocated spaces, but this is one that's kind of blatantly there. It's the old Jedi Training Academy, something we never really cared about because we didn't care about Star Wars. But now I just read about it probably for the first time ever. And I told Mouse and I was like, ⁓ my God. So if you are a newer Star Wars fan like me, you might care about this.

M1: The Incredibles thing. Yeah. Such a niche group of people, but.

M2: really, really niche group, or if you're an actual Star Wars fan. So it started around 2000s for Star Wars weekends. Star Wars weekends were a thing they did at MGM, where they did like big Star Wars takeover. Honestly, kind of love that idea, like fun.

M1: I was gonna say, I'm surprised they don't have that anymore now that they have Galaxy's Edge. Like, I guess they don't need to. It's too crowded.

M2: Yeah, they could like integrate it through the park. I guess, but it's a fun idea. And so they had the Jedi Training Academy and the concept was there would be 16 younglings. And also one just yelled at me the other day for saying younglings. Children, they were dressed in brown robes, basically getting ready to become Jedis. And they had plastic lightsabers and they were taught like a choreography lightsaber sequenced by a Jedi master. That was the premise of it. It was for Star Wars weekends only.

M1: I hate the term young, like kids, 16 kids.

M2: And then in 2007 through 2015, it became ⁓ a permanent thing. It was a permanent attraction at Hollywood studios. And also they had it at Disneyland just for reference. There were two shows in its history that they had. And this is where, again, I had to look all this up because we didn't ever do it. The first show, Darth Vader and Darth Maul were in it. I had no idea that Darth Maul was in it. They also sometimes would have Ventress come out instead of Darth Maul, which Ventress from the Clone Wars, which I'm like, what? Ventress is bald. I have to find a picture of her. so confused how they executed that. So cool. And then in 2015, they ended up changing it to align more with some of the newer like Star Wars, Canon type things, Disney and Star Wars. So they added Star Wars Rebels and the Force Awakens content. So they added the seventh sister who was like the Inquisitor who's in some of the movies and shows and she replaced Darth Maul. I'm like, what? This is such like a deep cut of Star Wars. And then they had Darth Vader still. And then 2016, Kylo Ren replaced Darth Vader. It closed in 2020 for COVID and they never reopened it. I think that one of the reasons they didn't reopen it is because they had Galaxy's Edge and they had the whole like lightsaber experience, but this could have covered a Jedi. Like there's not a strong Jedi presence at all in Galaxy's Edge, because it's themed after the Jedis were around. I would kill to see them have a stronger Jedi thing. The stage is there.

M1: Where is the stage? I cannot picture it.

M2: It's between, it's right to the left of Star Tours. It's brown and it's between the Backlot Express and Star Tours.

M1: I literally cannot even picture it and I've definitely walked by it.

M2: Google it right now because you're gonna know it for sure. It's gonna be so like apparent to you. introduced a door when they closed the launch bay. They introduced a Darth Vader meet and greet a couple of months ago. It was in like an extended part of the queue for Star Tours. And then they ended up sliding it over into the sun by the Jedi Training Academy stage. And then now they've kind of like moved it again. But that's really the only use for it. Do you remember it?

M1: Okay, I see it now. Yeah, I do.

M2: Yeah, it's iconic to me. We would catch a little bit of it. So what is the future? Would they bring back the Jedi training Academy? They're there. I think they're leading. They're leading so much into the like legitimate Star Wars experiences like that make you feel like you're part of the movie, whereas this one was a little more like. For kids, a little kitsch here, I guess I don't know, so I don't know if they would bring it back on.

M1: I don't think they will. I don't think they would. Like they're really leaning into like the galaxy's edge. They're so strict on like timelines there and like immersion and like deep experiences. I think the Jedi training academy was too like, here's a show about Star Wars rather than like you're part of Star Wars universe or whatever. But I mean, honestly, they keep adding stuff to Star Tours. It feels to me like Star Tours' days should be numbered and therefore that, but it's like not. Why?

M2: But no, they like love it. They love it. And I'm like, yeah, yeah. Well, it covers a different type of thing. Star Trek is iconic to me because we used to do it as kids. But like that whole area, there's like a missing gap here. And if you want to hear more about it, we did a full Star Wars episode with Taron and Mousetay when M1 was out ⁓ on her maternity leave, I guess. And we kind of got into some of that. So go listen to that if you haven't already. But last one, Animal Kingdom.

M1: You have Galaxy's Edge, why? I don't. So we're doing sort of one big one for Animal Kingdom because there's really only one big abandoned thing or unused space at Animal Kingdom, but it's a huge one and that is the waterways. So when Animal Kingdom was built, obviously there's all these like rivers that lead into a sort of larger lake, which we'll get to in a moment in Animal Kingdom. And when it was built, they had something called the Discovery Island River Boats. And we've talked about these a lot. Mouselotoo is obsessed with them so we can... sort of touch upon them, but basically the Discovery Island riverboats were always meant to be a form of transportation. It was a water taxi service. There were docks throughout Animal Kingdom where you could take the riverboats from dock to dock. Some of the docks are still there.

M2: are like two sets of docks and they still exist. One of them, as you walk from the oasis, this is like my favorite thing, FYI. So when you walk from the oasis to the tree of life, if you look from the bridge to your right, you'll see an old dock. They actually call it like the character landing now. I mean, we haven't met a character down there in a long time, but I think that for a while, Moana was there. We should do that in the next trip. It could be fun. And the other one is over by where they used, by the flights of wonder show in Asia.

M1: Yes, by like Coca-Cola, that like little Coca-Cola stand thing. ⁓ But they have these docks and it would be a water taxi service. People didn't understand that it was really just supposed to be transportation. They sort of wanted it to be a ride and it didn't have enough going on for people to like it as a ride. So it wasn't very successful and unfortunately it failed. So they closed them pretty early on. They left the docks and sort of that kind of like left the waterways unused for a really long time.

M2: They had renamed it to Radio Disney very, very briefly. again, then it just like people thought it was a ride. People didn't get it. So.

M1: But then. was muted. And so instead, after a very long time around 2015, they built the Rivers of Light Theater. And so again, there was that big sort of lake area, which was just like something that you would visually look at. It was meant to just be like, you know, pretty. But they built the Rivers of Light Theater, which I think was a really good idea at the time. Animal Kingdom was going through at that time, sort of a push to have actual nighttime experiences in the park. It had never really been a nighttime park. Animals is harder with animals at night.

M2: Beautiful.

M1: They can't have like fireworks at that park or anything because of the animals. And so they were going through this push to make animal kingdom more of a nighttime park. had the nighttime safaris. Yeah, which...

M2: the Sunset Safari, and they had the Pandora, which was like bioluminescent. That's probably it.

M1: Yes, and so they were, yeah, but still, but so they built a theater for Rivers of Light, which was a nighttime show that was based off of like water and light. It was very, very pretty. It was interesting because they were, it wasn't a ton of IP. It was very like beautiful show. I think had they incorporated more intellectual property, it would have performed better.

M2: Yeah. Agreed. Part of the issue too, though, is it had to be completely dark to do it, which meant the park like had to stay open till 8 or 9 p.m. and the park is just not set up with that much to do. like, yeah, I don't know. It's unfortunate.

M1: So Rivers of Light stopped performing. The theater was later reused for the infamous Kite Tales.

M2: I loved that show. People hate on it. I thought that show was great. They could have done a lot of good stuff with it.

M1: It was fun. It was like jet skis with like these giant sort of kite like blow up looking animals, like Simba and stuff, like flying through the air. It was like a fun show that they had. was very short lived though. And then they never put anything else in the theater.

M2: people were so mean to kites tails. They had to take the kites down somehow. And so they would put them in, they would just lower them into the stands. And people were like, ⁓ it looks like they're crashing. I'm like, well, let them, they have to take the kites down. Like it was so much better and people gave it such a hard time. It was better to have something there than nothing. So.

M1: Ha ha ha. because now it's a theater and like technically people can, like people eat lunch in there and stuff. I once took a work call in there because it's like a very, very unused area, but like it's a theater. It's actually not conducive at all to sitting and eating or sitting and doing anything. Like it's stadium style. And so it's just nothing. And it's very odd. It's this huge, beautiful lake that they absolutely could put something on. They need to bring back a show here. They need to figure out some type of show.

M2: guess. They have to. Yeah.

M1: to put here. It doesn't have to be a nighttime show, it can be a daytime show, the kite tail show worked.

M2: But there's so much they're bringing in Kanto in like they have Lion King like Tarzan has amazing songs. There's so much like music that I feel like that they can incorporate like Zootopia they have like a little, know, Zootopia betters together. Like they've got enough IP Pocahontas figure something out. It doesn't have to be nighttime show.

M1: The other issue with Kite Tales is because it was built for a nighttime show, it is blazing hot in there. There's like absolutely no shade. And so you are just sort of like baking in the bleachers. It would be nice if they added some like little canopies over it because it is really, really, really hot, but they need to bring back a show. It's just really, really weird to have this whole unused theater. Animal Kingdom desperately needs more attractions. Even when Tropical Americas opens, it still could really use more attractions. A big show would be amazing.

M2: That's true. One thing I'll say about all of these things that we covered today, all of these unused spaces, except like the Adventureland Bazaar, maybe not all of them, but with Josh Demaro as the new CEO, he knows the Walt Disney World parks, all of them, but Walt Disney World parks like in and out. And I do think that kind of a little bit of fresh blood going in, Iger was CEO for a really long time. He might kind of try to inject a little bit of adrenaline into some of these spaces. Like I could see some of these things coming back, so.

M1: Me too, and like for Disney, as we're seeing right now with Muppets Court, you're transforming into Monstropolis, reusing existing structures is like more desirable sometimes than having to clear space to build brand new things. So some of these structures like exist and they can retrofit something in for far less expensive than they would elsewhere. So like, I would say if we came back in five years, at least maybe one of these would have something in it.

M2: The last single. I was gonna say it like Disneyland because they don't have enough space. They're forced to use every inch. They don't have that same issue here, but I do think I could see them after they open villains and all this stuff coming to Magic Kingdom, looking and being like, okay, we need to level up these other spaces. like after they open up the encounter, the tropical America stuff at Animal Kingdom, I think that they might be looking at these other spaces as these smaller types of projects. So at least I hope. No, not at all.

M1: It doesn't benefit Disney to have dead spaces like this. Like, it's not good for them. And so I think we'll see it.

M2: There's actually a cup. That's the ride. There's two more things with 3D classes. One of them we saw, and it's not this one, one of them we saw on our October, fall of 2025 trip. And it was brand new. It was brand new. Zootopia, we saw that. That has an animatronic, so it's not that.

M1: You know that I can't remember. You know that I can't remember anything like that. It was brand new. Okay. Okay. Let's see guys. ⁓ my God. I'm panicking. I'm panicking. A screen. ⁓ wait. ⁓ Pixar short film festival. Wow. Woof.

M2: Yeah, yes. I didn't want to throw you off with movie because it has like a bunch of different things. So I've thought if you said movie you would be you would eliminate it because it shows like three different things.

M1: That was brutal and I had to think of yours on the spot within one millisecond and I could not come up with anything.

M2: Mine was Disney Junior, which would have been so good, but you ruined that, so.

M1: I pressed the wrong button guys. I cut that part out of the episode probably so you didn't see it, but I did hit the wrong button and I heard Mouseletoo say Disney and so she thought I gave it away. ⁓ Well, Mouseletoo's family is coming to see us and I just saw them pull into the driveway, but luckily we are wrapping up with our pit in peach and I'll start with my pit, which is that if you're watching on video, you're seeing what you usually see, my beautiful office. What you don't know is that my office literally looks like a bomb went off in my closet.

M2: All right. No.

M1: It is an actual nightmare. Every drawer is open. There's stuff all over the ground that I've shoved out of the way because we started outfit planning for the trip, which I'm very happy that we did. But like my office is has never been in a worse state. It's upsetting to me.

M2: My pit, this is like, it's not like a true pit, but it's kind of a pit, is that, we're flying to Europe in a month. That's obviously a peach. But me and Mouselet A, we're just like watching a bunch of videos last night as we waited for dinner for like the longest dinner ever, which took another pit, took forever to get served. And we were watching almost like horror stories of how bad of a night's sleep you get on a red-eye flight. And last time I flew to Paris, I was cramped on an old plane with like someone who stunk in front of me. And...

M1: Yeah, you do.

M2: I'm now just like panicking and I was like, ⁓ God, I'm get an awful night's sleep. that's like my looming, don't say that. And so I bought myself a foot hammock off of Amazon.

M1: You are. You didn't, okay, you didn't press buy on it. Mama Mouselet and I were on Amazon ordering stuff for the trip and she was like, she was, she ordered a beak, okay, you'll see why she ordered a beak, but she was like, why? She's like, my cart is too expensive. And she went and looked and there was a pair of ⁓ rag and bone fake jean sweatpants things and a foot hammock in the cart. And I said,

M2: She ordered a beak. She ordered a beak.

It's like nice and sunny and so I'm hoping that we can swing by the Earth Day festival if we have time. I'm not sure we will because Mouse and Lucy's family just arrived, but we're gonna try.

M2: nice here too. Okay, fact of the day, go ahead.

M1: My fact of the day, guys, I had a YouTube deep dive this week. Did it go up on Monday? I don't know. Have I done a single edit for it? No. We're gonna do our very, very best though, but regardless, I'm sure it's up by now. And so my fact is that Disneyland had planned for an expansion of Main Street USA called Edison Square. They advertised this in the park for like five or six years. It was a very, very real thing that was going to come to fruition. but plans ultimately pivoted and what was supposed to be Edison Square became the Carousel of Progress. It's a very cool story and if you're interested in learning more about it, you can check out my full deep dive.

M2: I'll do my fact of the day to kind of tie together a couple of things we talked about. We talked about the Rainbow Tunnel and Image Works with Michael Jackson. I just talked about the Short Film Festival. So yes, there used to be a show, Captain EO, which featured Michael Jackson. was produced by George Lucas. And it was like the first thing that George Lucas really produced for the parks. was also at Disneyland and they brought it back like, I don't know, 20 years after or something. I remember thinking he was awful. ⁓

M1: It was awful. ⁓ it was just awful. It was a stanker. It was a stanker.

M2: Loves Mouselet a loves Michael Jackson. She's never seen that and I want her to watch it to see if she would like it Maybe I would rewatch it too. There was like an alien in it for sure or something weird characters that were like weirdly related to like Alien encounter or like something weird lore about it

M1: ⁓ We saw it with our parents and our parents literally were like, what is this crazy horrible thing?

M2: It was awful. It was awful. Captain E.O. Hive is like rising right now, but it has a cult following. Anyway, that is our episode today. A little bit of a longer one.
