This is something they made for their seventh anniversary. so we'll see. Probably half I'll get halfway through this thing and then I will probably exit stage right and fall asleep if it's ten percent. But I'll see if I can I'll see if I can get to a review before that happens. So Dalton, what do you what do you got? Alright, we'll go quick tonight then. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: I have an IPA from latitude thirty-three out of San Diego, California. This is their blood orange IPA. not your typical IPA, juicy citrus, crisp and refreshing is kind of what it says. It's 7-2 alcohol. I'm a big fan of these of blood orange. Like any blood orange drink, I'm I'm generally liking it. so we'll see, we'll see. Hopefully this Audio Dalton: I have an IPA from Latitude 33 out of San Diego, California. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: The good the good run of Blood Orange delivering, but yeah. all right. I've got Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: So I I've got the low GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: low alcohol percentage by by quite a bit this this week. That's I feel I feel kind of bad. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: alcohol percentage by by quite a bit this this week. That's I feel I feel kinda bad. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Yeah. Yeah, you're a little bit of a coward, but that's fine. Yeah. man, not great. Okay. Well, fix that next week. Audio Dalton: Yeah, I don't Audio Chad: Yeah, you're a little bit of a coward, but that's fine. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Yeah. man, not great. Okay. Well, fix that next week. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: All right, let's get into our scorecard here. where you guys been playing, what you been doing, how's it been going, how's life in general? What have you been up to lately? Chad, let's start off with you. Audio Dalton: All right, let's get into our scorecard here. where you guys have been playing, what have you been doing? How's it been going? How's life in general? What have you been up to lately? Chad, let's start off with you. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Not much not much playing actually. I did so I I I've talked the last couple of times about actually playing or doing spending more time on the range than on the course. And I actually did that last week. I think I I think I had like three hundred and fifty r r reps on the range or something like that. I went like three or four times and and and tell me if this has ever happened to you. Went went Saturday. Audio Chad: Not much not much playing actually. Audio Dalton: Okay. Yeah. Audio Chad: Probably the best rain session I've ever had. Just could do no wrong. And then I went and played Sunday on the course. And I'll give you I'll give you three guesses what happened on Sunday. Yeah. It was dog shit. it it it did not it did not go well. So but that's that's that's fine. So yeah, just a lot of practicing for me, not not really much. We're getting we're getting kind of GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Probably the best rain session I've ever had. It was dog shit. it it it did not it did not go well. So but that's that's that's fine. So yeah, just a lot of practicing for me, not not really much. We're getting we're getting kind of Audio Dalton: Yep. Been there. Audio Chad: the time of year here we're entering our you know, pale skin sadness phase of of the year where it's dark early and you can't really do anything. So so I don't even I don't there's not even enough daylight to go to the range after work anymore. And if I'm gonna play around I have to leave at like freaking noon or something like that. So it's a little tougher to squeeze stuff in now, but whatever. I guess I can GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: the time of year here we're entering our you know, pale skin sadness phase of of the year where it's dark early and you can't really do anything. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: I'm the one who chose to live here, so we'll we'll figure it out. But that's something that Chris and I I mean Chris, you don't really you get you golf year round, right? There's no like stopping, you can go yeah, s saying. Yeah, like January, February gets a little bit weird, but like you just play. Okay. and by a little bit weird, like it's southern weird. It's not actual weird like yeah, you know, it's fifty five and maybe a little bit gray. Like yeah. Right. Audio Chad: I'm the one who chose to live here, so we'll we'll figure it out, but Audio Dalton: Yeah, I mean that's something that Chris and I I mean, Chris, you don't really you get you golf year round, right? There's no like stopping, you can go. Yeah, s same. So that's that is interesting. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: yeah. Yeah, like January, February gets a little bit weird, but like you can still play. and by a little bit weird, like it's southern weird. It's not actual weird. Like, you know, it's fifty five and maybe a little bit gray. Like whoop de doo, you know. Audio Dalton: Okay. Okay. Yeah. Right. Right. Audio Chad: Yeah. Audio Dalton: Yeah. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Yeah. Yes. And in those months, fifty-five is when we like get on the course because it's nice, you know, for right for a day. It's like, you know, I don't need a s I don't need a a a scarf to get out of here or something. So yeah. So we're we're we're getting close to time to shut it down, unfortunately, here in the Midwest. But that's okay. That's okay. So Dalton, how about about you? What's been happening? Audio Chad: Yeah, see and in those months fifty five is when we like get on the course 'cause it's nice for for a day. It's like, you know, I don't need a s I don't need a a a scarf to get out here or something. So yeah, so we're we're we're getting close to time to shut it down, unfortunately, here in the Midwest, but that's okay. That's okay. So Dalton, how about about you? What's been happening? Audio Dalton: Right. Yeah, so I got got a full eighteen in for the first time since this injury kinda had its recurrence. went out with my my eight year old boy. We did an eighteen with the cart. He had to play with two randos. So that was I was like, but this is even weird for me. So like if you're uncomfortable, it's fine. but we had we had a great time. He I basically told him like he's just gonna shoot wherever I hit to. He'll just pick up his shot and then put by me and kind of play in from there. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Yeah, so I got got a full eighteen in for the first time since this injury kinda had its recurrence. went out with my my eight year old boy. He I basically told him like he's just gonna shoot wherever I hit to, he'll just pick up his shot and then put by me and kind of play in from there. Audio Dalton: I think he probably played 14 of the 18 holes or a few where he's like, Daddy, this is long. You know, he's like just doesn't want to hit that one. I was like, all right, that's fine. highlight of the day was he had it was a 240-yard par four. He was playing from the women's tees. They didn't have junior tees. and he made a legit par. he had his drive maybe like one twenty-five straight away, a little hybrid thing, maybe another hundred. So he was fifteen, twenty yards out. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: I think he probably played fourteen of the eighteen holes or a few where he's like, Daddy, this is long. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Awesome. Audio Chad: Damn. Audio Dalton: Hit a little wedge to four feet. And I was like, that's good, bud. You can pick it up. And then I was like doing the math. And I was like, Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, don't pick that up. That's it. you gotta put that out, man. That's a real par. Don't don't pick that up. and so I put my putter kind of right on it was it was a left to right, and so I put my putter right on the left edge. I said, Bud, don't be afraid, hit it firm right here, firm left edge. and so he did and hit the center cup and made his par. So, pretty sweet. That was pretty fun. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Hit a little wedge to four feet. And I was like, that's good, bud. You can pick it up. And then I was like doing the math. Audio Dalton: I played okay. I shot I think it was an eighty-eight. It was a par seventy, so it was bogey golf. lost a couple of shots out of bounds. only hit my driver once. My three would is just way more consistent. And sure enough, like that one driver was out of bounds. it wasn't the huge slice that I normally do. It was like the tug dead left, just straight left, which went into water. so maybe not out of bounds, but hazard. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: I played okay. I I tried to work on my driver because it's just been so inconsistent. Like, man, I gotta figure this thing out. Like, how do I hit my three wood like pretty darn good, pretty consistently, feel comfortable? And then I with my driver, it's just all over the place. And so I was starting to get into is it shaft length? And so I started like choking down on my driver. That got silly, like things were just going ever that was horrible. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: And then I did a range session yesterday. I I tried to work on my driver because it's just been so inconsistent. Audio Dalton: And then so kind of got back to my normal one and I started just doing some like tempo swings, just trying like let me just try to see the ball go straight. And that started working a little bit. It's like, okay, like I can do it. And then I was like, you know, forget this. And I just started ripping it and four in a row, piped them, dead straight, best ball speed I've had since I've been hurt. so I think maybe there's just something there with like because of my injury, I've not been swinging full out. and just my timing's been off, my rotation's maybe been off. And so I the answer is I just need to swing harder with my drives, I think. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: And then so kind of got back to my normal one and I started just doing some like tempo swings, just trying to like let me just try to see the ball go straight. Audio Dalton: it was I 156, 153, 153, 156. And that's at top golf, so I don't know like what their tracking's like. I don't know what their balls are like. I don't know if it would go down or up at it something di I I don't know, but that that's what it was reading at. so yeah, felt felt pretty good. and again, the the the biggest thing on all all four of those is like they were absolutely straight, right? Like just like not not moving, just perfect. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: it was I went one fifty six, one fifty three, one fifty three, one fifty six. I'm sure I'll get out there in the next round and try to hit my driver and I'll rip it and I'll top it and it'll go ten feet. it's probably how it's gonna go. But we'll try. We'll try. I'm playing again Friday, so I think there's I think there's probably something to that though. Like when you like g it probably just messes with your sequencing and and yeah the rhythm of your swing when you try to get, you know, cute or soft with it and it just Audio Dalton: That was that felt like a win. Just let's just give it gas. Let's go. Audio Dalton: Right. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Ha ha ha. Audio Dalton: Just do it. That's right. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. And in in hitting those shots, like those were probably the first time I really swing. I mean, it's not as hard as I can, but it's pretty darn close, right? Like it's as hard as I can swing while still thinking I can hit it the right way. and those were the first swings I had done since this recurrence of my injury. And I didn't hurt myself. So that was like okay, another little hurdle. I was a little sore afterwards, maybe more than normal. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Just do it. That's right. That's right. Yeah. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: But no pops, so all good there. Chris, what do you been what have you been playing lately? How's life been going? Audio Dalton: Chris, what have you been what have you been playing lately? How's life been going? Audio Chad: Nice. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: let's see. So went out and played the scurry last week, end of last week. So the scurry is the short course at Chichesse Creek, which is local to me. And it's 12 holes, short course. It's like kind of a cross and down the street from Chichesse. And 10 short holes, two parkours. So two like shortish parkours. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: let's see. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: so we were on like the second hole. My buddy that invited me out there was like course record is six under by some corn fairy guy. And then I immediately knocked in like a twenty foot butt and then birdie the next hole. And then I texted you guys, I'm like, guys, I'm like two under through what was that, two hundred through three or two hundred through four. I'm like, let's go. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: And then and then it sucked. yeah. And so I finished one over. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: And then and then it sucked. so I finished Yeah. And so I finished one over. Audio Dalton: Yeah. Audio Chad: Yeah, yeah. Audio Dalton: Ha ha ha. Audio Chad: And then it happened. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: it did hit my so my new stick, my new driver came in, QI4D. Came in, isn't it? That hit it once and just absolutely stripped it. So that's good. So that's the only so I got club championship coming up this fright. So two days from now. That's the only drive I hit with this new driver. Feeling pretty good. Don't Audio Dalton: Nice. Ha ha. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: like don't want to jinx it. Don't want to hit it before I go out and play. So we're just like leaving that, like you know, we're leaking like we even brought it inside. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Like, don't want to jinx it, don't want to hit it before I go out and play. So we're just like leaving that, like, you know, we're le like we even brought it inside. It's sitting, you know, it's it's in the climate controlled, right? So like we we gotta be nice. But so that went well. But the course is really cool. So a couple of things about the course, like the first five holes, all short holes, and it goes in a loop, like right basically right back to the clubhouse. And like there is no clubhouse. They've got a trailer right now to build in the clubhouse. But it's like the Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: It's sitting in, you know, it's it's in the climate controlled, right? GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: the first five is kind of like the cradle at Pine Hurst, a little bit. It's kind of got that where you like you can see all the holes and just kind of comes back around like that sort of thing. and then the next seven, I mean, they're they're legit holes. Some of those part threes are pretty gnarly. So that's the one thing. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Yeah, in the world. Apparently. That's what they say. Like I how true that is, like, man. You know. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Yeah, in the world. Apparently. That's what they say. Like I how true that is, like Audio Chad: Well GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: how the hell are you going to fact check that? It's, you know, Audio Chad: how like how the hell are you gonna fact check that? It's you know Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Yeah, like yeah. I I mean there's gotta be some got some random golf course somewhere that's got some weird plant life, right? Like there's gets there's just gotta be. but anyway, so GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: yeah, like, yeah. I mean there's gotta be some got some random golf course somewhere that's got some weird plant life, right? Like there's gets this has gotta be. but anyway, so Audio Dalton: Ha ha ha. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: been working a lot on the golf swing, sitting balls in the garage, just making sure that I like that I don't walk in Friday with never having touched the glove for the last two weeks or whatever. so working on my setup a little bit, making sure that that's that's dialed in. And then you know, have you ever seen that like green ball? GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Been working a lot on the golf swing, sitting balls in the garage, just making sure that I like that I don't walk in Friday with never having touched the glove for the last two weeks or whatever. so working on my setup a little bit, making sure that that's that's dialed in. And then you know, have you ever seen that like green ball that's like all over Instagram? Maybe it's just my Instagram feed that you put like between like your put it between your arms, your forearms. Lori uses it. Yeah. So I got one of those quite a bit. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: It's like all over Instagram. Maybe it's just my Instagram feed that you put like between like your put it between your arms, your forearms. Like Rory uses it. Yeah. So I got one of those. We're working with that quite a bit. Audio Chad: yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: So that feels like it's just helping me with my sequence and staying connected and things like that. So you know, Friday, we'll see how that goes. We're supposed to play Friday, Saturday, Sunday, but we're supposed to also have washout Saturday and Sunday. We're getting some gnarly weather. So TVD on that. Mm-hmm. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: So that feels like it's just helping me with my sequence and staying connected and things like that. So you know. Friday, we'll see how that goes. We're supposed to play Friday, Saturday, Sunday, but we're supposed to also have a washout Saturday and Sunday. But we're getting some gnarly weather. So T V D on that. Nice. Nice. Audio Dalton: Mm. Nice. Nice. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: How awesome? How old is that is that course? Audio Chad: How how old is that is that course? Audio Dalton: Awesome. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: The scurry? Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Scary. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Yeah. It's like three weeks old, something like that. Not old. I mean, it's brain spanging new. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: like three weeks old, something like that. Not old. I it's brain spanging new. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Jesus. Wow. Audio Chad: Jesus. Wow. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Yeah. But that that's gonna be a really cool hang. Well, I mean, it's already a cool hang, but it's gonna be a really cool hang once the clubhouse is done and all that. Mm-hmm. It's trouble. I'm here to tell Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Yeah, but that that's gonna be a really cool hang. Well, I mean it's already a cool hang, but it's gonna be a really cool hang once the glovehouse is done and all that. Mm-hmm. It's trouble, here to tell ya. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: you. Nice. Nice. Audio Chad: Nice. Nice. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Cool. Let's let's get into our approach tonight. So this is our advisory section where we kind of get in, one of us pitches a topic and we see how the other two would handle it. So I'm gonna pitch it this week. Audio Dalton: Cool. Let's let's get into our approach tonight. So this is our advisory section where we kind of get in, one of us pitches a topic and we see how the other two would handle it. So I'm gonna pitch it this week. and so my scenario for you is you're you're working with a new client, good client, everything checks out, no red flags, nothing like that. They agree, start onboarding them, getting them in, and you realize like their prior year stuff is all messed up. Like, like GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: And so my scenario for you is you're you're working with a new client, good client, everything checks out, no red flags, nothing like that. They agree, start onboarding them, getting them in, and you realize like their prior year stuff is all messed up. Like, like flat out wrong. Not like, I probably would have done this differently. It's like, no, like this is it's either fraud or the person forgot stuff, or like things are like not going Audio Dalton: Flat out wrong. Not like, I probably would have done this differently. It's like, no, like this is it's either fraud or the person forgot stuff, or like things are like not going you can't even copy if it's a tax or you can't even copy it into your system 'cause like the things don't flow. Right? Like it's like things just aren't working. Or if you're doing audit review, you start getting you're like, they like didn't do any of this stuff, and like there's some holes here. Right. So it's like that type of GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: You can't even copy if it's a tax return. You can't even copy it into your system because like the things don't flow, right? Like it's like things just aren't working. Or if you're doing audit review, you start getting you're like, they like didn't do any of this stuff. And like there's some holes here. Right. So it's like that type of engagement. How do you approach that? Like how do you talk to the business owner? how do you do that like initially? Like what are your checks internally to to process that? validate that? What do you how do you handle it? Audio Dalton: engagement. How do you approach that? Like how do you talk to the business owner? how do you do that like initially? Like what are your checks internally to to process that? validate that? What do you how do you handle it? Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Chad. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: And I I real real Audio Dalton: And I I real real Audio Chad: Well Audio Dalton: quick sidebar. I I had this happen like two weeks ago and I again maybe like a few months before that and then it literally happened again today. where I'm looking at a return in the prior side, this is so messed up. so yeah. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: quick sidebar. I I had this happen like two weeks ago and I again maybe like a few months before that, and then it literally happened again today. where I'm looking at a return in the prior side this is so messed up. so yeah. Yeah, yeah, that we we come across that like it's in my w so I do audits, you know, and and if something in the prior year is messed up it's Audio Chad: Yeah, yeah, that we we come across that. Like it's in my way so I do audits, you know, and and if something in the prior year is messed up, it's you know, there's ramificate you gotta tell they're they're supposed to tell reissue financial statements and tell the banks or tell anybody that was relying on those financials. Like it's a it's kind of an ordeal. you know, just from the client perspective, it's GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: you know, there's ramificate you gotta tell they're supposed to tell reissue financial statements and tell the banks or tell anybody that was relying on those financials. Like it's a it's kind of an ordeal. you know just from the client perspective, it's Audio Dalton: Yeah. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: every time we've done that, they've we've gotten the work from someone that was probably pretty cheap. to be honest. Audio Chad: Every time we've done that, they've we've gotten the work from someone that was probably pretty cheap, to be honest. Audio Dalton: Mm. Yeah. Audio Chad: They and and they'll and they'll and it's just sort of a a a learning experience to go through with them and be like, Well you know, we're we're we're not the cheapest that you found, but this is kind of what you get with the with the cheapest that you find. So I GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: They and and they'll and they'll and it's just sort of a a a learning experience to go through with them and be like, well you know, we're we're we're not the cheapest that you found, but this is kind of what you get with the with the cheapest that you find. So yeah. Audio Dalton: Yeah. Yeah. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: the way I approach it is I will lay out, you know, I'm you gotta make you're making all the management decisions for yourself. So I'm gonna tell you, here's your options. Audio Chad: The way I approach it is I will lay out, you know, I'm you gotta make you're making all the management decisions for yourself. So I'm gonna tell you, here's your options, here's what's gonna happen if you if you don't fix things going, you know, and move forward the right way. here's you know, and if you do, here's here's what'll happen. It's it's usually something that costs them a little more money because we've got to fix things that wasn't contemplated when we brought the work on. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Here's what's gonna happen if you if you don't fix things going, you know, and move forward the right way. here's you know, and if you do, here's here's what'll happen. It's it's usually something that costs them a little more money because we've got to fix things that wasn't contemplated when we brought the work on. Audio Dalton: Right. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: and and us and honestly, that's that's really not ever been a difficult conversation on that piece of it. Okay. It's like, yeah, here here's here's something that's really messed up. I I can Audio Chad: and and us and honestly that's that's really not ever been a difficult conversation on that piece of it. It's like here here's here's something that's really messed up. I I can Audio Dalton: Okay. Yeah. Audio Chad: show you exactly why and how and and what should have happened. the like you can either continue moving forward with this wrong or with somebody else probably, because I'm not I'm not gonna continue doing doing stuff the wrong way. But GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: show you exactly why and how and and what should have happened, the like you can either continue moving forward with this wrong or with somebody else probably because I'm not I'm not gonna continue right right doing doing stuff the wrong way. But Audio Dalton: Right. Right. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: that's that's really never been something that's contested by them. Now whether you know whether they go back to the prior CPA and and Audio Chad: That's that's really never been something that's contested by them. Now whether you know, whether they go back to the prior CPA and and want to take issue and umbrands with them, I have I have no idea. I'm not gonna be a party of that, but that that I don't know. That's kind of what what we deal with when we go into it and it's they're awkward conversations for sure. you gotta tell something that they definitely don't want to hear and that it's gonna cost more money than what they GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: wanna take issue in Umbrince with them. I have I have no idea. I'm not gonna be a party of that, but that that I don't know. That's kind of what what we deal with when we go into it and it's they're awkward conversations for sure. Yeah. You gotta tell them something that they definitely don't want to hear and that it's gonna cost more money than what they were already planning to spend. But Audio Chad: We're already planning to spend, but I mean there's just there's just not a great way to do it. My my my whole theory and the kind of people that I like to work with are like, okay, I want this r let's let's get this right, whatever that takes, and then move forward on the right path to do things the right way. That's really what you want as a not only as a client, but as a you know, as a business owner, everything down the line is let's let's get it right and do things the right way. And if and if it GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: I mean, there's just there's just not a great way to do it. And if and if it Audio Dalton: Yeah. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: takes a little time and effort and money on the front end to get it corrected. Audio Chad: takes a little time and effort and money on the front end to get it corrected is what it is. And I guess we learned a lesson, but well let's do it right. That's the way I look at it. So about you or GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Is what it is. And I guess we learned a lesson, but but let's do it right. That's the way I look at it. So Yeah. About you or what Audio Dalton: Yeah. What GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: about you, Chris? Audio Dalton: about you, Chris? GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: I mean I think I feel like there's a lot to unpack there, I think. Yeah. and I had a I had a situation very recently with a prospecting client and I had to get on the sales call with them and essentially say like Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: I mean, I think I feel like there's a lot to unpack there, I think. and I had a I had a situation very recently with a prospecting client and I had to get on the sales call with them and essentially say like well not essentially say what I said was your financials bear absolutely positively no resemblance to your tax return. So that's that was a problem somewhere. Now if I'm the business owner, I don't as the as the accountant, I don't find those conversations GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Well, not essentially say what I said was your financials bear absolutely positively no resemblance to your doctor's return. So that's that is a problem somewhere. Now, if I'm the business owner, I don't as the as the accountant, I don't find those conversations Audio Dalton: Mm. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: that hard to have. And I think that they're very instructive because depending on how the business owner takes it, we'll tell you will tell you a lot about how they operate their business and what kind of a client they're going to be. Yeah. So Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: that hard to have. And I think that they're very instructive because depending on how the business owner takes it, we'll tell you we'll tell you a lot about how they operate their business and what kind of a client they're going to be. So you know, I think as a business owner, you have to kind of look at what is the cost going to be of continuing to go forward with something that's obviously wrong. And you also kind of have to look at GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: You know, I think as a business owner, you have to kind of look at what is the cost going to be of continuing to go forward with something that's obviously wrong. And you also kind of have to look at Audio Dalton: Mm-hmm. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: you know, how it's going to impact you. So, you know, when you go to sell the business, when you've got bad financials, you've got a tax return that's not resembling what the actual business is doing, you're gonna you're gonna feel that in the valuation, it's gonna be super expensive. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: You know, how it's gonna impact you. So, you know, when you go to sell the business, when you've got bad financials, you've got a tax return that's not resembling what the actual business is doing, you're gonna you're gonna feel out in the valuation, it's gonna be super expensive. Audio Dalton: Yeah, that's true. Audio Chad: Mm-hmm. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: if you've been committing tax fraud, there's no statute of limitations on that. So that that that's a move as well. And then you kind of just have to look at, well. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: if you've been committing tax fraud, there's no statute of limitations on that. So that that that's a move as well. And then you kind of just have to look at, well, you know, how have I been operating and how has that caused this? So, like business owners that aren't reviewing financials, business owners that have no interest in financials, business owners that just blindly signed a tax sign a tax return. Like the one thing I tell all. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: You know, how have I been operating and how has that caused this? So, like business owners that aren't reviewing financials, business owners that have no interest in financials, business owners that just blindly signed a tax sign a tax return. Like the one thing I tell all GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: All my clients when I deliver a tax return is read your tax returns, best tax advice can give you. Because if you actually read the thing and you're like, you know what? I didn't make a million dollars last year. Kind of weird. Right. Right. But then you ask the question and then that starts a conversation that you can learn from and that you can improve the business based off of. Yeah. but like Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: all my clients when I deliver a tax return is read your tax returns, best tax advice I can give you. Because if you actually read the thing and you're like, you know what? I didn't make a million dollars last year. Kind of weird. Like Audio Dalton: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Audio Chad: Yeah. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: And right. But then you ask the question and then that starts a conversation that you can learn from and that you can improve the business based off of. like it if you're not participating and if these things if if financi if business if the business's financials and the business's tax returns are just happening to you, that's a problem. And it's probably going to show up in other areas of your business. So you you know, I would say you really need to be careful about that. You really need to be working with a partner that's gonna help guide you through that process. And GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: It if you're not participating and if these thing if if financi if business if the business's financials and the business's tax returns are just happening to you, that's a problem. And it's probably going to show up in other areas of your business. So you you know, I would say you really need to be careful about that. You really need to be working with a partner that's gonna help guide you through that process. And you need to be taking steps yourself to just make sure that everything's right. And that's even getting easier with AI. Like you can't just I mean, you can just throw a whole bunch of stuff in AI and get an answer back. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: You need to be taking steps yourself to just make sure that everything's right. And that's even getting easier with AI. Like you can't just I mean, you can just throw a whole bunch of stuff in AI and get an answer back. Don't recommend that at all. But you can at least start to double check the folks that you're working with and at least point you in a direction of what are the questions that you should ask. And so we're seeing that a lot on the other side of our clients too, is you know, we'll deliver something and then they'll come back with a bunch of questions that are AI generated, obviously. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Don't recommend that at all. But you can at least start to double check the folks that you're working with and at least point you in a direction of what are the questions that you should ask. Yeah. And so we're seeing that a lot on the other side of our clients too, is you know, we'll deliver something and then they'll come back with a bunch of questions that are AI generated, obviously. And Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: And it's fine, but you know, from my perspective, when we get those long two to three page lists of of questions back, GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: it's fine. But, you know, from my perspective, when we get those long two to three page lists of of questions back. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: some of them are valid and then some of them are garbage. So, you know, the garbage just tells me like, hey, AI is not ready. So that didn't that tells me like how we can use that in our firm, but it also tells me how I need to guide the business owner and say, Hey, like this is this is fine to throw through AI or you need to be careful here and that sort of thing. So, you know, it can be a little bit more productive, but GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Some of them are valid and then some of them are garbage. So, you know, the garbage just tells me like, hey, AI is not ready. So that didn't that tells me like how we can use that in our firm, but it also tells me how I need to guide the business owner and say, hey, like this is this is fine to throw through AI or you need to be careful here and that sort of thing. So you know, it could be a little bit more productive, but that's Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: That's a long-winded way to kinda kinda answer your question. But, you know, as a business owner, I just think you need to be looking at the processes that allow GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: a long-winded way to kind of kind of answer your question. But you know, as a business owner, I just think you need to be looking at the processes that allow. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: those kind of things to happen. And, you know, you know, just building processes and procedures and and getting partnerships that it will allow you to not have that happen. But you have to be an active participant. I think that's kind of the nuts for. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: those kind of things to happen and yeah, you know, just building processes and procedures and and getting partnerships that it will allow you to not have that happen. But you have to be an active participant. I think that's kind of the nuts. Yeah. Yeah. I think I think you brought up a a great point is that at some point the other shoe's gonna drop. So like I've never I've never had this come up where I had to I had to shove and convince the business owner like let's do it the right way when they were like, I really don't want like Audio Chad: Yeah, I think I think you brought up a a great point is that at some point the other shoe's gonna drop. So like I've never I've never had this come up where I had to I had to shove and convince the business owner like let's do it the right way when they were like, I really don't want like like those honestly those conversations would stop at that point and be like, I don't I don't think we're your your your people. But but the I mean the other thing is it's like turning it into a learning experience for the owner. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Like those honestly those conversations would stop at that point and be like, I don't right. I don't think we're your your your people. But but the I mean the other thing is it's like turning it into a learning experience for the owner, if Audio Dalton: Right. Audio Chad: If like that's a that's a pretty valuable point 'cause you just like the one of the worst, I don't know about the worst, but something on on the very not good scale of what can happen to you as a business owner is having crap financials. So GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: like that's a that's a pretty valuable point 'cause you just like the one of the worst I don't know about the worst, but something v and on the very not good scale of what can happen to you as a business owner is having crap financials. So Audio Chad: or tax returns or or whatever it is. So if if that happened, like there's a there's a good learning experience there to to have for them. And if they're not open to that experience, then that kind of tells you a little bit about how much they care. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Or tax returns or or whatever it is. So if if that happened, like there's a there's a good learning experience there to to have for them. And if they're not open to that experience, then that kind of tells you a little bit about how much they care about the quality of the output. that that we'll be working with. But you know, if you don't care about that, it's your banks are making decisions off of this, your bonding companies if you're in. Audio Chad: about the quality of the output that that that we'll be working with. But you know, if you don't care about that, it's your banks are making decisions off of this, your bonding companies if you're in Audio Dalton: Yeah. Audio Chad: construction, like any any of that stuff. Like all these people really care about what you're you're putting out in your financials. So you should too, 'cause they can sue you if you're if it's if if they're harmed by your not caring. So GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: construction like any any of that stuff. Like all these people really care about what you're you're putting out in your financials. So you should too, because they can sue you if you're if it's if if they're harmed by your not caring. So Audio Dalton: Yeah, right. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: so yeah. I I think those are a couple of like really points Chris brought up. Audio Chad: So yeah, I I think those are a couple of like really points Chris brought up. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: I mean. GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Like most business owners have never had any sort of financial education whatsoever. No. Just by the by the nature of just what they do and what they have to scroll for and stuff like that. So Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: Like most business owners have never had any sort of financial education whatsoever. Just by the by the nature of just what they do and what they went to school for and stuff like that. So Audio Chad: No. No. Right. Chris Hervochon, CPA, CVA: like the most of them just don't know. And you know, if they have a bad experience with a with another professional or DIYing it or something like that, like they don't know. They're looking at the their bank statement. If there's cash in the bank, they're good. If there's not cash, they're not good. So that's the opportunity for us is to just GMT20261001 010002 Recording gallery 1280x720: Like the most of them just don't know.
