Brandon: What's going on guys and welcome to the very first episode of the archers path. So this is going to be a podcast slash YouTube channel that is primarily focused around archery. ⁓ this first episode is going to be primarily about sort of like an introduction, just a brief history on us, our archery history, what got us started, ⁓ who got us started in it, you know, first bow we ever shot and kind of like where we are now. in the industry and things of that nature and ⁓ how we both met, ⁓ like that. So mean, it's sort of like a just baseline brief episode about what to expect on the channel and what we have dealt with in the archery industry from the time that we've had a bow in our hands until now. So it kind of started off, my name's Brandon and be brutally honest with you, mean, my archery history really doesn't go very deep outside of some backyard shooting and some hunting. It definitely has been a big thing for me in just kind of using it as a hobby and blowing off some steam in the backyard. know, it's put a bow in my hand and I fell in love with it at an early age. Kind of fell out with it, fell out with it for a while just due to my my job and things of that nature making me travel but here recently I've kind of picked it back up and fallen in love with it again. ⁓ you know with that it's something that I don't see myself really putting down anytime soon. So unlike Jacob, know, he's been in it for way longer than I have and has competed at a pretty high level. So it's one of those things where We definitely have two different viewpoints on how our archery careers and where they've come from and where they've taken us. Yeah, for sure. So my name's Jacob. ⁓ Jacob Brown. I have been shooting archery for a long time. I've had a bow in my hand since I was probably 10 years old. ⁓ I shot a lot of local stuff for a really long time. I kind of had the opposite effect of Brandon. I started out in competition. ⁓ My grandpa grew up shooting competition archery locally. ⁓ So when I come of age, we hunted together and but I was way too young and too small to be bow hunting. So but they wanted to get me started and put a bow in my hand and we started shooting some competition and ⁓ I liked it lot. We didn't have a whole lot of technology. was just a basic pins and you know, old check at sites and we'd go out and shoot in the backyard and go shoot some local stuff. And it was a, it's a lot different now. ⁓ It's funny you say that because like when I first started, man, it was all fixed sites. You know, the technology just wasn't there. And up until recently, ⁓ I didn't even know what a slider site was. know, and if that doesn't tell you where my archery has came from to where it is now, then nothing will. Because having a slider site was sacrilege to me. It was, man, it was like, if it wasn't a fixed pin, I didn't want it. Because I always grew up, you it was the hunting industry for me that got me into archery. So it was... I get a fixed pin, I got a five pin horizontal and I can set it up for a 20, 30, 40, 50 and I can leave it. You know, when I'm out in the stand, I can throw a rangefinder up real quick when I first start to see daylight and get a visual identifier of certain trees at their distances. And then I knew what pin I needed to shoot for different distance of trees, you know? The slaughter site though is definitely... different yeah it's an upgrade for for target shooting absolutely ⁓ so yeah that's kind of my archery history shot some asa's I'm a known shooter I can't judge yardage don't have the time ⁓ it takes time if you're gonna judge and I just don't have the time never have so I like shooting a bow I like working on bows ⁓ I enjoy it. I enjoy the family aspect of it. Being able to, it's a good sport that the family can go out, especially these local shoots and walk around with you and have a good time. And everybody knows everybody and it's all friendly. ⁓ So it's good. I really enjoy it. ⁓ I took a little bit of time off when I had my kids. I used to run Foothills Archery Club in Newton and ⁓ took a couple years off when I started having kids and building a house and now ⁓ I'm picking it back up and I met Brandon and we're going to ⁓ do it a little bit different than I did it the first time around. So we're curious to see where this goes. Yeah, so ⁓ it's actually pretty funny because I don't know it was just one of those like on a whim things. I met this dude and he was selling a Target bow. And it's the one you see right here. And I was like, you know, I've always wanted to get into competition shooting, you know, and to think that I was like, man, I can backyard shoot with the best of them. And I was like, shoot, man, competition bow is not going to be any different. know, and then Lord, Lord was I wrong. Cause I just, I've always had this thing where I could like pick up a bow. I could have it set up and shooting really good in the backyard in half an hour. And I was like, TargetBot is going be no different. So. I'm sure your definition of really good has changed it has couple months it has what it truly means to really dial that thing it has and I will tell you that Because my definition of really good has changed my dad irritates me now It's like and I was telling him about the brush he shoot uh-huh and he was like, how'd you do? said, I you know, it was like a 181 He's like out of I said, well, if you're playing it like golf, 200 is par. 200 is par for the course. That's 20, 10 rings. And he's like, and you shot a 181 on a 3D course? I was like, yeah. He's like, what range? I said, known 40. He's like, brad. I thought I taught you better than that. said let me tell you something. You throw a target rig in your hand and you get out there and you're shooting for a score. It's a different ball game. In front of people you've never met. You're shooting with two other people that you've never met or if you're going solo with a group of people you've never met. It is a different ball game when you're actually shooting for score. He's like, excuses, excuses. I was like, all right, all right, whatever. You but plenty of excuses on Archie range. For sure. For sure. For sure. And I'm not going to sit and say that I know all the excuses, but I could come up with them. So yeah, we like dang wind caught that one. Yeah. But, um, So yeah, I mean, guess that's sort of like just a little brief history on us. ⁓ If you want, we can go ahead and kind of describe our setups real quick. Yep. So ⁓ as of right now, I'm running a bow tech ⁓ and I don't really have any brand loyalty. I mean, there are bows that I like more than others. ⁓ Nothing, ⁓ nothing new, nothing fancy. It's honestly stuff that I was running. ⁓ Probably five years ago when when I put it back down ⁓ Nothing, nothing crazy. ⁓ I'm just kind of doing it because I enjoy it and eventually I'm sure I'll make some upgrades as we get deeper into it. Well you just recently did the limbs. Yeah, yeah I put some 70 pound limbs on the boat, had 60s on it and I run a short draw length so ⁓ wasn't happy with the speeds after we chrono'd it. So had to make some changes, get a little bit more poundage behind it. ⁓ Nothing out of ordinary for me. So ⁓ yeah, looking forward to shooting it and telling you guys about the about all the adventures we we do together shooting them. Yeah. So a little bit about my setup. ⁓ It's a little clapped out rig, but bought it used and to be honest I don't know if it's second hand or not but again like what Jacob was saying there's really no brand loyalty with me if I like a bow and it shoots well and holds well in my hand then I'll shoot it. ⁓ But With that said, I shot a PSE for the longest time and I recently left PSE this past year to go to Matthews and probably get some flack for that one. But ⁓ I ended up getting the Matthews Lift X and I fell in love with the bow. And I was like, man, if I can like a hunting bow like this, you know, I found this thing for sale and I was like, man, this can't be much different, but it is. But. This is the Matthews TRX 38 and nothing special about it. a Gen 1. Shoots good. Shoots better than what I'm capable of at the moment. yeah, I I love it. You know, I've got really no complaints with it at all. It's been fun kind of getting it set up, getting it dialed, and getting it to a point to where I can feel confident with it on the range. Outside of that, there's... not really much much else to it. Setting up a bow is really personal preference you know getting everything dialed the way you shoot it so oh yeah so how we met so yeah that's that's a pretty funny story we've actually been neighbors for what three years three years now and I had gotten an Amazon package and I was actually expecting an Amazon package that day too didn't think nothing of it It was coming in like the little small Amazon packs, you know, and pulled in from work and seeing there was a package sitting by my garage. And I was like, ⁓ cool. Whatever I ordered came today. And I just ripped that thing open and I was like, well, I didn't order this. I look at the name and the address on it and it was right up the road and it was his. you know, with it, with us literally being a rock throw distance away from each other, I just walked it over and. Turns out, ⁓ we actually both shared hobbies in the hunting and shooting bows and things of that nature. And that was actually when I explained to you that I lost a drone in your pond. we've yet to find that thing. And I don't think we're ever going to now. ⁓ Cause what was that now? That was probably two years ago now. Yeah, probably something like that. It's been a while. So that thing's long gone. lost a drone and a GoPro that day. It's funny because you know once we met and started talking it wasn't long after that we shared numbers and ⁓ we actually got together and shot once or twice. Yeah we shot a couple times. ⁓ I was living ⁓ next door while I was building the house and with the family member and ⁓ you know we shot a couple times and we kind of tried to kick this thing off and ⁓ I got busy. and trying to get this house finished up and I wasn't shooting and ⁓ you know, I think we were just shooting for hunting is all we were doing because the hunting season was coming up. And yeah, I think at most we were just trying to get hunting setup dialed. Yeah. And put them back down and didn't talk to him for gosh, probably a year and a half. Yeah. Yeah, it was. And I'll be honest, I really can't remember like how this came about, you know? I think you posted a picture of the target rig. That's right. That's right. Yeah. And I was like, okay, give me a little bit of motive. I'd got moved into the house and kind of settled down and I've been tinkering, you know, hunting bows and shooting a little bit of spots inside because we've got a range inside here. And you know, I was like man, it'd be nice to have somebody to kind of motivate me to come in here and shoot with me. And so I reached out and I was like, hey, if you need any help setting that thing up, let me know. I've got a shot. That's right. Yeah, I do remember that now. And so he brought it over and kind of started working and we got along great, which we always have. you know, one thing led to another. And this guy asked me if I wanted to do a YouTube channel. And I was like, ⁓ why not? We'll try it. Yeah, you know, so it's just, ⁓ I don't know. Like I'll never forget, like the first time I came over here to shoot, like I'll never forget it. And cause you got to talking about like just needing that motivation to get back into it. And by me picking up a target rig and coming over here just a couple of times a week, you know, that was, that was all you really needed. And by the end of that first night, You were like, man, if you want to come over, just come on over, dude. It was like, you know, if you, I'll help you. I'll get, I'll coach you up. He said, what'd you get squared away? And here I am thinking that we're just going to get the sites where the sites needed to be and then sling some carbon. I was wrong. He's over here critiquing my release and my, my technique and everything else. And I'm over here like, dang man. I've been doing it this way for 20 years. Yeah, and you know, there's not anything wrong with the way you were doing it. It's just trying to make you a better archer. ⁓ yeah, you know, just trying to help help a friend out. And I've got a little bit of experience coaching. I did some coaching for the S3DA for a couple years and had several kids that I coached and you know, I missed that aspect of being able to help somebody and I've never been one to. just turn the blind eye and say, well, figure it out. know, yeah. A lot of my friends and buddies, they'll come over before hunting season and, you know, I'll get their bows tuned up for them and make sure the broadheads are flying right and draws good, you know, bows in time, that kind of thing. Cause I would much rather, ⁓ you know, a friend or really anybody that is picking up a boat, especially go pursue an animal. I'd rather take a little bit of time out of my day and help them make sure that they're as good as they can be. Yeah. To give them success and you know, make it humane and you know, for the animal. ⁓ for sure. Cause I mean, I've got, I've got friends, man, that I see these videos online, you know, and they see these guys out here who've had a bow in their hands for 30 plus years out here, slinging arrows at animals at 90 yards. Yeah. And don't get me wrong. They're good archers. Yeah. You know, the guys in the videos, you know, And if they've got the confidence to do so, then I'm not going to be the one to say, don't do that. Yeah. You know, but they're like, ⁓ man, I can do that. I can do that. Yeah. No, can't. Yeah. When you pick, pick your bow up in August and put it back down in October. Yeah. And the next time you pick it up is in July to make sure the sights didn't get bumped in the last six months. Yeah. So it's like, no, you can't. It is funny though to see the level of confidence that people have in their, in their gear. ⁓ yeah. and to not really have done anything with it for nine months out of the year. ⁓ yeah, for sure. So it's kind of funny to see that kind of thing. We've got an indoor range here. We've got a 3D range outside. ⁓ So you're going to see a lot of a lot of different content. ⁓ It's not going to be coachy. It's not going to be you should do this. You should try this. You know, basically what I think both of us are looking for out of this is ⁓ my number one priority is promote local archery. ⁓ When I was running a local archery club, Foot Heels, ⁓ you know, that was my biggest thing is how can I promote and help archery as a whole? And ⁓ I felt my time there. did that. was, we had a really good range that we had grown. We had people coming from all over the place. ⁓ you know, showing up and shooting, ⁓ I had built a really good, ⁓ archery friend family and, ⁓ it was fun and I miss that. So I kind of want to start that again. ⁓ still don't have the time to go out and run a whole range like I was before I had a family. so this is kind of my way of how can I help? ⁓ you know, don't, don't really have any plans to join. a club per se right now just because you know when I was running foothills my members I wanted to be involved and be able to help and do things like that as we as we would want to do as a member of a club and with my family and things like that I just don't have the time so I feel like this is how I can give back to the archery community and you know hopefully bring some light into where to go what to do who to talk to. ⁓ people to look for, ⁓ you know, and things like that. Yeah. So real quick too, like, you know, we talked about this channel not being too like tips and technique based. ⁓ And it's not because, it's not because we don't want to, or don't know how to, guess would be the thing. It's primarily really based on the idea of just being able to you know, talk about local shoots, talk about our experiences in our archery, our day-to-day lives and how archery has either helped or hurt us in like what we do and how we like take on our day-to-day activities. So yeah, I I can't say for sure that there won't be a video with us having some like maybe... Especially we have an epiphany and we're like, man. Yeah, you know like this and this made a huge difference, right? Something like that, you know, like we throw a bow in a bow press and we make some tweaks or something. Yeah, you know, that's that's that's totally in the realm of possibilities, but I'm talking about as far as You know, you're shooting your bow wrong do this. Yeah, you know, but we're gonna get on here and make a video on how to tie a d-loop or right a time of a fallaway rest. That's just not what we're Plenty of videos I was gonna say there's so many videos they do that already to look for those kind of things That's just not what I desire to do right? don't think that's what Brandon desires. No, absolutely not share the archery gospel. Yep so, know kind of piggyback there on what Jacob was saying it's it's more of a At some point, you know, I wouldn't Bringing somebody on remotely. Yeah, you know ⁓ once we can establish the channel a little bit if somebody wants to come on and remotely be on there and You know this this won't be like just us. Yeah sharing our experiences We want to be able to give somebody else a voice to do the same Yeah So, you know if that's you and you want to you want to hop on here for an episode then by all means hit us up We'll we'll make it happen. Yeah, you know, you want to share your experiences then let's do it ⁓ Like I I'd to bring in maybe like some presidents of archery clubs, like local clubs, or not presidents, even just representatives, somebody. ⁓ You just talk about your club, talk about what you offer, talk about the different shoots that you're gonna have coming up this year, and what your club hopes to do, the things that you guys wanna do, and promote local archery, I think that's all. Yeah, and mean, you don't even have to be like, for me. I don't think you would need to be established in that club presence at the moment. like you don't even have to be part of a club. Yeah. You know, I mean, to be honest, if you were just a backyard shooter. ⁓ yeah. You know, if you're just a backyard guy who goes out every day or every weekend and wants to just break free of reality and shoot some arrows and you know, you want to get good enough to where you can. or you're getting good enough to where you can actually go out there and cut fletchings off your stuff, then if you enjoy doing that, then share that experience. Yeah. You know, that's all part of it. ⁓ To kind of double back to the whole archery history and where I guess we both started with a bow in our hand and where it's kind of taken us, the gaps we've had in it, ⁓ stuff like that. Jacob was mentioning earlier that you know, he started in the competition realm and then slowly progressed into hunting. So, ⁓ I'm sorry. No, you're good. So yeah, like I said, he was just more of a competition shooter at an early age before he got an actual hunting rig put in his hands. So I mean, if you want to. Yep. So ⁓ the first bow that I had was an Alpen Archery ⁓ split limbo. It was a little youth bow. ⁓ Shot it for a little while, shot it pretty good. I remember my grandpa had an old black up. 28 inch aluminum stabilizer and I had a set of fixed pins and that 28 inch front bar that's all I had and buddy I thought I was something I had me a long stabilizer Looking like one of the pros. Yeah, and I was shooting three or four different kinds of areas walking around with a little hip quiver and You know, there wasn't nobody around here shooting at the time. Nobody was shooting back bars. Nobody was shooting There was one guy that we shot with that had a little magnifier in his lens or in his scope housing. ⁓ But I had never seen anything like it. so shot that bow for a little while. ⁓ Then my grandpa got me ⁓ a bow tech assassin and I shot that thing and I shot lights out. That thing was it was a great little bow. I hunted with a bow, killed my first deer with the bow. won a ton of local stuff as a youth with that bow. ⁓ At that time I was bleeding Bow-Tec. mean, if it wasn't Bow-Tec, I didn't want nothing to do with it. And ⁓ bought a Carbon Knight. That's what it was. A Bow-Tec Carbon Knight. That was the next one. ⁓ Same thing, I was shooting at that point. My grandpa gave me a doinker. 32 inch front bar. I mean this thing was massive. I'm shooting the stabilizer, the front stabilizer weighed more than the bow did I Yeah. And ⁓ I mean, I just thought I was something. I was, we were shooting good and had me a little lizard tongue on there. I'd upgraded to a Sherlock sight with a little magnifying lens and a dot. was shooting a sticker dot and ⁓ when you take your lens out to clean it, you had to make sure you screwed it in a certain way, because your dot wasn't perfectly centered. So if you didn't get it in right, your center shot would be off. so that was, you know, I mean, that was from the time I was 10 to the time I was, gosh, probably 16. When I was, in 2016, I went to my first ⁓ fourteen fourteen or sixteen i went to my first as a shoot and that exact same setup i mean i was shooting at that time i was shooting a prime i bought a prime with the dual cam had that four by four cam it was a funny looking thing and ⁓ i forgot you shot prime shot a prime impact and ⁓ took that thing to the asa and i was shooting at long thirty two inch donker didn't have a back bar didn't even know people shot back bars and ⁓ i'd never shot a lower twelve in my life and i was going to the asa ⁓ one of the youth that i shot with locally ⁓ me and him are always neck and neck his dad offered to take me and ⁓ So went with them, had a great time, met a great group of people, ended up coming home with my first back bar. Had a good friend give me one of those while we were there. And that changed the game. My first one, I think I ended up finishing 18th, 18th I believe. at my first ASA shoot and on 40 out of like 200 people. to the next shoot and I finished 11th and then went to the next one and finished third shooting that same setup and then they kicked me out and at the time the crowd that I was hanging out with was ⁓ Ben Pearson group. I'd met Dave Tietrich. who was the owner at the time. he ⁓ had knew my grandpa. My grandpa was ⁓ pretty popular around here shooting local stuff. name's Johnny Brown. And he ⁓ always shot really well. He always judge yarded really well. I never could judge, I never got that from him. There's something about judging, man, it's an art. It's an art, it is. Yeah, I met the Pearson group and ended up ⁓ kind of finishing out the end of my career with Pearson. I worked for Pearson, worked for Dave, ⁓ Donovan Rowe. worked the booth, helped build bows, ⁓ everything from hydro dipping, powder coating, building them, a little bit of everything. ⁓ That was an awesome experience. a lot of great people over the years doing that. ⁓ They were super supportive. A lot of those guys would come up and shoot my shoot when I was running foot heels. ⁓ So built a really great community. You know, went out and shot this past weekend ⁓ over at Foothill Shooting Complex in Shelby. Yeah, and that's a nice place. I hadn't been out on Archer range, I think, since 21. ⁓ And. ⁓ seeing some of those guys that I hadn't seen in years. mean, I had people from all different states. I'd be going through and people would be hollering at me and talking to me. And so it was good, you know, seeing some of those guys and making those connections again with people I hadn't seen in years. Yeah, that's always nice. It's like, my true backstory is not as in depth. It's not. No, so. I'm trying to remember while you were talking, I was trying to think about like times, timestamp everything, but I'm not going to be able to get that accurate. ⁓ So I think for me, it was like, like 10, 10 or 11, something like that. And I cannot for the life of me remember the name of this bow. But it was a point where I was like seeing my dad out in the yard. And I was like, man, that looks fun. And he would always do it. He'd always go out there and sling some carbon, getting ready for bow season. My dad, though, he was always that kind of guy that was... put the bow down for eight months and pick it up 45 days before hunting season started so he could make sure you know get back in the swing of things and get comfortable behind it again and You know, he always did really well. He did. And I could see my dad out there, man. Just he loved it. And it's like, even though was just backyard shooting for him, for me, I seen somebody who thoroughly enjoyed the sport. ⁓ yeah. You know, however, I'm seeing somebody who thoroughly enjoyed the sport with no knowledge of of what the sport actually entails. Yeah. You know, and I'm not saying that my dad is not knowledgeable with a bow. I'm talking about just like in general with like what it all entails as far as like that and competition shooting and things. Cause like he never did any of that. It was all hunting for him. So when he found out that I wanted in a competition shooting, he didn't know what to He was excited for me. It was a different chapter of archery for me that he didn't get to experience. ⁓ it's just... I seen that as a kid and I seen the love he had for it and I was like, I want that. So I started talking to him and he bought a bow for me from one of his buddies. for the life of me, cannot think of the name of this bow, but it was an older bow. And it wasn't something that he wanted to go out and spend thousands of dollars on, because shoot, man, I'm 10. 10 or 11, something like that. And he was like, let's get you a cheap bow. Let's figure out if you like it. And if you like it, then maybe if you get good, we can buy you better setup. So that's what we did. And we get the bow home. Man, I'm in love with this thing. And... I'm shooting the bow and sure enough, dad looks, he sees something on the bow. He looks at it, the limb was cracked. And I was shooting it, you know, with a cracked limb, not knowing any better, you know, but he just happened to look over and see it. And at first we were like, ⁓ that's a paint chip, paint's chipped. It's an old bow, paint's chipped, you know. Well, he got to looking at it and he starts messing and tweaking with it and he could start to see more flicks than just paint. Well, like I said, I can't remember the name of it, but it was a, like a PSE manufactured bow. Okay. Right. Cannot think of that what it was. I wish I could, but we went to the local bow shop. So, Hey, you know, this is the bow we got. can you, can we get limbs for it? Guy went to research and he couldn't. was so old that they didn't even make stuff for it anymore. said, however, PSE at the time had a lifetime warranty, like no questions asked. And he had gotten in contact with PSE and they said, send us the bow. said, we can't fix it, but what we're gonna do is we're gonna send you a brand new bow of that caliber. all you guys have to do is front shipping. Right? That's a deal. Dude, you got to think about an 11 year old finding out that the bow that I just got had cracked limbs. My whole life was destroyed. You know, but then this dude at the bow shop came back out after talking to PSE about it and he was like, yeah man, they're going to send you a brand new bow. So I don't know what model, you know, but it's going to be of the same caliber of what this one was when it was brand new. And I was like, Revitalized you know I was back on top and you know took a couple weeks to get the bow in but we got a cut We got a call from the shop one day, and then dude was like hey, man You boys bowed in his bows in Stoked oh yeah granted didn't you understand this was like a 45 minute drive to the bow shop the whole time dude, I'm just I'm pumped you know I'm about to get this new bow not even knowing what it is and PSE had sent me a PSE brute And I seen this thing man and immediately fell in love with it. This thing was gnarly. And I'll be honest, I can't even remember like specs on the bow, you know? But I came, I fell in love with it man. Like this thing was, this was mine and it was brand new, you know? And at the time I believe my dad was shooting Matthews. A lot of people were back in those days. Solo cam days. Solo cam days, you know? And ⁓ he had seen the brute, I was like, man, that's a good looking bow. Well, this, let's see here. I think it was a couple of years later, the PSE dream season was coming out. It was PSE's flagship bow at the time. And the PSE dream season, if I'm not mistaken, was the first of its kind with Beyond Parallel Limbs. coming from a Matthews shooter, that was impressive. My dad was stunned. So he manages to go to the bow shop, man, and he's like, I want that bow. And he got it. Brought it home. Now, what we were not told. is that now given the technology, you can do it, right? With what's considered beyond parallel, you can take a bow and draw it back without a release, right? What PSE had failed to mention to folks was that that bow had so much tension, pre-built tension in the limbs that it was only designed to be pulled back with a release. So that if you put four fingers on the string and pulled it back, you were putting more tension on the cams and the limbs than was actually designed to have. And nobody told us that. Dad's got this flagship bow, man. He's stoked. Brought it home. And I think I was probably... Man, I had been 14 now, something like that, 12 or 14. 13 or 14, I mean. And he said, you wanna pull it back? I said, heck yeah. 70 pound bow, you know, I'm 13 years old. I'm trying to crank this thing back. What happens when you can't pull a bow back? You torque the piss out of it. So I did. And when I torqued it, that string jumped the cam and cut string in half. The string came out, whipped me in the forearm. The exploded. To this day, my little brother lives in that house and to this day there's still a piece of cam stuck in that wall. ⁓ man, that's so wild. Yeah. Well, because PSC's no questions asked policy, they sent him a brand new boat. Holy cow. Yeah. So that was my only saving grace from getting an absolute boat whupping. Where's that policy at, man? We need to bring that policy. They really do. No questions asked. Yeah. much as we pay for these boats. I'm going be honest with you, I think that policy's gone now because I PSC was losing a boatload of money on it. Oh yeah. I mean, it was like at the time, I believe you could about run it over with your truck. get into a brand new boat. So yeah, my dad went and left Matthews and got into PSE that way. He hunted with that bow for years, And if I'm not mistaken, he still has it. It might be a newer model dream season, but I don't think PSE even makes the dream season anymore. But my dad, he's not brand loyal. He's really tried or I wouldn't say tried but he talked about leaving PSE. But if he goes and leaves, he's talked about getting a elite. Yeah. An elite makes a fine bow. Oh yeah. So yeah, he's talked about that. Hunting and competition shooting are two different niches. Yeah. You go from, you know, being happy to stay inside of a red solo cup. 25 yards to right being mad that you don't hit a dime size dot at three times in a row. Yeah, 20 Let me tell you you've seen it in here. Oh, yeah, you know, I'll be in here man one day I'll be shooting shooting for tens and the next day I'm like piss on this You know, like I can barely smoke a non. Yeah, so It's It has its ups and downs. Oh, yeah, you know I don't know what it is about it, but the ups and the downs are equally as exhilarating. Yeah. It's definitely, ⁓ you know, it even feels different for me picking it up now compared to what it did, you know, six years ago. Yeah. And, ⁓ five years ago, whatever it was, just the technology, seeing the difference in the technology and just that short amount of time, how things have changed, ⁓ locally how things have changed at the ASA level. ⁓ You know, the circuit that I was a part of for my whole life is not even the circuit anymore. The local clubs that went independent. ⁓ Everybody's doing their own thing. There's some new clubs that I'd never shot before, so I'm excited to go shoot some of those clubs. ⁓ Excited to introduce Brandon to a bunch of the people that I've met. ⁓ You know, just kind of bring you guys along on the journey. ⁓ You know, our focus, I think is going to be, ⁓ you know, our path. That's where the archers path comes in. My path back into the archery game and how it's changed ⁓ and what I see now that I didn't see then and things that I like, things that I don't like clubs and talk about. the different shoots and you know, it's crazy cause everybody has their hobbies that they do. ⁓ yeah. You know, and everybody's got the same thing to say about all their hobbies. Yeah. And you'll never meet a bad person in the automotive industry and you'll never meet a bad person in this industry. So I'm to be very cliche when I say this so far, man, just in the little bit that I've had in the competition realm. Yeah. Man, there's So many nice people. ⁓ yeah. There is way more nice than there are bad cookies. Yeah. And my first shoot up at Brushy was a weeks ago now. And we had this kid get into our group. Yeah. What was he like 13 or 14 years old? Yeah. I think he was like 13. This kid walked me. I mean, just smoked the whole group. Insane. I'm talking. He was so good. So confident behind that bow and the crazy boy doesn't even win. No, he didn't even win his class No, which is insane. Yeah, this kid was so good man the technology that these kids have now well I mean I can't blame the parents in the s3da these kids can win hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships for colleges. Yeah, and ⁓ So yeah, I mean if I if my kid shows interest and I need to drop a thousand dollars to save me a hundred grand on School loans because they get paid when they're in high school all four years they can get I believe all four years they can get grants towards schools. Yeah, so it's crazy. Just follow along with us. I mean it's it's the first episode. ⁓ It's you know, it's going to be a little choppy. It's going to be it's it looks a little scripted. It probably sounds a little scripted. We're talking kind of from a prompt because you know this is our first one. Yeah. you know, the first couple expect the, you know, we're working the nerves out here. ⁓ it's not every day that you decide to set this up and get all the lights and everything to make sure everything looks good. And then just expect to be flawless behind the camera. So give us time. You know, we'll get there.
