Jason: Previously on Deep Six. All right. So just for let's see, I don't want to say this. Yes, we are recording. so for our viewers and listeners, and to catch everybody up as well as our players at the table, we did have a little mishap with the recording files from the last session, so there's a little bit of content that we have to recover. We'll have a little recap of that now. so following the events of the Rust Below, you guys made your way back to the Gilded Mask where the tone that you found there was a somber one as there had been a recovery of broken pieces of Nemesia's porcelain mask. you guys saw a very kind of agitated or frustrated Onyx kind of heading out the door as you guys came in. But with a little bit of know-how and a little bit of magic, you guys were able to help. Stanny was able to mend part of the mask and glean a little bit more from that evidence. And upon the next morning, speaking with Argent, you guys noticed a few connections between what you had discovered in the thread with Orland three tongue and also some of the information relative to Nemesia's disappearance. So given those things, you were given the d the directive to to seek out more of what you could find out from from the clues that Orlin had, one of which was a shipping manifest for for a barge that was set to leave the Harbor in Vernicia. you made your way there where you were very briefly introduced to Magda, who had also through a completely different set of circumstances, found her way down to the port as well as trying to find out more about the about this cult with the eye symbol along with with with Orlin she had been working undercover if you if you will and had received word that morning that that not only Orland had been killed but that he had left his personal belongings to her in will and that she needed to identify the body which was being set to see at this particular l location. But with everyone arriving roughly around the same time, everyone was surprised to see Orland Three Tone alive and well, bartering for his passage off of the Isle of Redentia. with a sea captain well known to Magda as Gerard. and however in the midst of the conversation that ensued, Orland Three Tongue decided to take it upon himself to steal the schooner and try to steer it single-handedly out of the port. However, that triggered one of the port defense mechanisms where as the the walls of the port begins to slowly close and eventually closed off the the wharf area. but even more disturbing is that it also seemed to awaken or to release possibly some sort of Leviathan sea creature beneath the waves of the harbour. And so you guys instinctively jumped aboard the ship as Orlin was pulling away. everyone successful in that apart from Stenny, who gracefully landed in in the waters and then climbed back up onto or or was dropped. I was dropped. Don't let don't get don't let people let people know I was dropped. You dropped me again. He dropped again. Again. This is the slime thing all over again. You just can't crab me for some reason. And then it's sewer. Real coincidence, right? He uses the lake the way to die. But you were able to make your way aboard another ship in the area owned by none other than your good friend Cookie, who seemed to have some sort of a party yacht there which you passed by earlier. full of all kinds of fun drinks and paraphernalia for could be hen parties or stagdos, not sure, but good times to be had aboard Cookie's yacht. But not on this particular day, as the seemingly repurposed astral gunship then was used to give pursuit to to Orland and his attempted escape. picking up Ruby along the way, who had accidentally fallen overboard in the chaos, as Mac and Magda wrestled with Orland, quite literally, binding him, but only momentarily enough to regain control of the ship as they are being pursued by this Leviathan. so now with with the ship under control and essentially put into autopilot as the as the sails were were docked in an angled position and so now the this this schooner is making a hard cut to port as As Stenny and Ruby now catching up alongside with with their yacht. However, a great disturbance happened on the boat as the as the schooner was shaken and four large tentacles emerged, two on either side of the ship, draping over onto the deck. And that is where we left and we were pick up our action there. I miss anything. Penis straws. Penis straws, right, yeah. There were penis straws on the most important thing. Which which Ruby was gonna quit the entire th the entire thing if you didn't mention penis straws. He scrammed and so we'll say currently though I don't have any kind of mini for it, but we'll say you guys have pulled up alongside So you are adjacent to the ship riding the front of Cookie's yacht. Okay. Which is able to keep pace well enough because he does not rely on wind sail. He he he he his his vessel is fully jet powered. what about daddy? So Magda, you see, you know, you're kind of roughly holding the wheel as well as lashing some of those bind that Orland Three Tongue had lashed up for holding the sails kind of they're kind of mid sail at this point, just kind of Slowly arcing back around. You are at at this point heading basically back to port and close enough that that you guys were able to see the chaos and panic which is now happening at port level. And you know, while it while initially it seemed like, you know, that that this creature, whatever it may be, might might have been part of the security system here, or And it may still be possible that that yes, that's kind of how it's used, but you get more of the sense now that this is that that this is a beast which has just chosen to live here and that maybe the port authority has knowledge of this already. Okay. so you know that there's very specific times that ships are allowed to leave port. From Verencia, but you weren't sure why that was always the case. I think I know why. And I think now you know why, as this huge Leviathan is grabbing hold of this ship currently. but you're able to act quickly and you do have a move here. Right. Do I am I seeing the tentacles or whatever? Yeah, so so what you're seeing here is represented by these die. is four tentacles. You see kind of like obviously not their full height and mass, right? But but you're seeing the edge of these tentacles which which alone come over and are essentially draping and crawling up over the side, probably another ten or fifteen feet above the side of the ship and then falling over, absolutely crushing, you know, some of the wood of the ship as well as they go. So these are huge powerful tentacles. Is there a bit that look like a bit of a ship that looks worse for where initially? I mean the ship was not new. Sorry, so is it I'm sorry are the tentacles crushing more than no, they don't seem to be purposefully crushing the ship just yet as more like it's it's just trying to hang on to it at this point, right? Right. It it it's it's not I won't say it's not attacking the ship. But at this point it's just grabbed a hold of it and it's just the sheer size and mass of these tentacles which is breaking through the wood. He's a big boy. It is a very big boy. And you can almost I mean I mean you just kind of feel the presence, you know. I mean you guys especially can can can see the shadow of this beast beneath beneath the the ship that they're on. So you got kind of a bird's eye view as it were out here on the edge of cookies yacht. you you can kind of see what's happening. Matter of fact, the two of you guys roll roll roll perception, Ruby and Stanny. Thirteen. Ruby, you can see the rather large Almost looks like an eye you can see opening just underneath. And it's like the head of this creature is upside down as it's grabbing hold of the ship from beneath. And several more of those tentacles looks like underneath the waves. Gonna need a stronger drink. Gonna need more cockstraws. You look back, cookie's got like the blender going on one hand, you know, he's he's he's still driving along but he's just like Okay. No problem. Pini Colada. Okay. so that brings us to what did I do with my thing? There it is. So what would you like to do? I'm gonna cast Mind Spike. Okay. Hmm. So I can see the creature. So this creature I'll just tell you has it has a has a plus two to wisdom. And fails. interesting. Alright, so w so So what's the damage for the for the mind spike? Explain that to us. So it's 3d8 psychic damage on a failed save. Wow, alright. I also always know the location. Of said creature until the spell ends. So I'm concentrating now. You never know. So so even though you see these tentacles over the ship, you now get a sense of where basically the brain is of this creature, which which is absolutely center deck, almost right in front of you. But you know that it's prop that due to the size of the ship, that it's about two or three decks down. Okay. so to give you It gives you a sense of the size of this creature based on the tentacles that you can see, you know. So it it it almost gives you a wingspan for it, you know, because you can see one tentacle to the other side. You you know where its central location is. so and y th this is a this is a a huge creature. Right. I so I'm I'm gonna try and keep this ship as steady as possible while this is going on, and I'm gonna shout Mussels! Yeah, you. Right. The thing's directly underneath us. Get rid of it. All right. Not asking a lot. Okay. did you want to do anything with the movement or anything? I mean. I'm just gonna make sure that Okay. Yeah, so so the ship is r is roughly keeping that course. As it stands, it doesn't look like it's going to hit the docks. It is going to skirt the docks and almost, you know, kind of throw a wake back towards everyone ashore there. And you can still see Gerard kind of standing out on that furthest pier, like, what the fuck are you doing with my boat? so he's so so he's pissed off, but you do see a lot of people clambering, ringing alarm bells and things like that, and people just generally either running for their lives or trying to lock down some of the other ships which are at bay there or in port. you don't see anyone, you know, either it caught everyone by surprise or, you know, the you know, working around the s schedule, you know, you're not sure, I mean, whether they feed this thing at certain times or, you know, how they managed to get around it. But there doesn't seem to be any sort of defense mechanism set up for this. there are two large ballista in the corner, but no one seems to be manning them at the moment. And you would have to be ashore, you know, to be able to to to utilize those. You're not sure if anyone's gonna run for them at any point. but but but right now they they seem unmanned. but as you're kind of arcing around, like I said, currently your your trajectory in the ship, you're not going to hit the port, but rather just Essentially go back to your starting point and just make another lap there. I'm trying to angle it so when we get to the port I would maybe squish. so so the the Leviathan is underneath the boat. So you would you you would essentially have to crash the ship for that to happen. well. Right? So it's completely up to you. Is that something that that you want to try and do? Well I don't see anyone coming to help. So Okay. you know, I would say to do that you would have to release some of the sails which which were tied by Orlin. So it's probably something that you could do on another lap. Okay. Like like you're approaching it too quickly at this moment. So it is something that that that is a possibility, but you would probably have to recruit the help of some others to make it happen. Okay. Ruby, out on the front of the yacht, pull on you know, just beside of this ship. What do you want to try and do? Am I next tentacle? you are in between two of the tentacles on this side. You can see these these huge tentacles, but but Cookie is basically obviously trying to avoid them. so so he he's he's pulled you guys up alongside. So that you can potentially jump onto the ship or communicate with these guys how you know, whatever you want to try and do. Can I like just take my drink and put the octopus's tentacle in it and be like, How about we drink? And then I can take the straw out and just stroke with the penis straw. You're currently about twenty feet away from any of the tentacles. if you if you know And, you know, the the Leviathan would have to know by touch what was a penis straw and what you were offering it in that moment. So we'll say that it would be a high roll to see if that would happen. and you'd probably have to get onto the ship for that to happen. Touch the straw, it was like to peer straw. So you would definitely have to get onto the ship in order to get close enough to do that. Is that so so do you want to try and get onto the ship? Yeah. Okay. And so so canonically what is it that you're trying to do? Are are you trying to charm it or are you trying to persuade it? Trying to get it drunk. Are you casting anything here? No No, you're you're just you're just touching this tentacle with a penis straw. Yeah, and sticking the end of its tentacle in my drink so that it can So this thing is fucking huge. Okay, I'll just pour the drink on it. Because it's not suckers, they're like mouths, right? You can taste. Alright. So so we'll say that that's an interaction. You pour out your pina colada onto the deck of the ship. and mopping it up with the What is your what is your hope for this? That it just likes pina colada and is now happy? It does not like pina colada. With the two, you just kinda see it, it it it it doesn't seem to have a reaction at all. It just With the with the water and everything which is already covering the deck of the ship, doesn't seem to be having a faith. Too much salt. Too much salt. the the ship is quite low in the water. Like like the weight of this thing is just pulling it down, you know, not not under the water yet, right? but it is putting a huge drag on the ship, which Magda you're well aware of as well, trying to trying to steer this thing. I was is is the balance is off for the for for for the whole thing, you know which you worry might come into play in terms of trying to write the ship or trying to change direction. do I still have enough action to take my final You technically still have an action. You and you know I would say that that you probably already had a weapon at the ready, so that's okay if you got your fan. And What do you want to try and do? And and as you make your way onto the ship and you're moving up to this kind of mid-deck level with this other tentacle. So you guys are now fully fully on your own. you don't know if Cookie's drunk or if he's just unbothered by all of this or maybe through the shit that he's seen in life, this is not a major event for him. but he seems happy as Larry, just heading back as if it's any sort of normal normal business. what would you like to do? So these the tentacles on the opposite side of the ship from you, they seem to be grabbing for anything that it can make purchase on and squeezing down and you see the boards in the deck begin to give way and crack underneath it as it's essentially tearing through the ship itself. So the ship is taking some damage here. Which FYI the ship has hit points as well. So, you know, depending on what kind of damage is sustained to the ship, you know, it's it's a very, very old vessel. and so, you know, that is something to keep in mind as well, is is not only yourselves, but you know, the functionality of of this vessel may change as it takes damage from from the Leviathan. However, the other two tentacles Not fully able to make purchase. you know, one's being slashed at and the other is being taunted if nothing else. But but doesn't seem to be able to be making purchase on the slippery side of the ship. so they don't actually do much damage there to the boat. Maybe should have stayed with Cookie. Probably should have stayed with Cookie, actually. Okay. So we'll say we roll some damage. Yeah. No, your fans fine. Mac Why don't you? It's your turn. Would I be able to judge like how like long a tentacle is like that to the body type thing? Yeah. Yeah. I mean again they're they're they're kind of draped over the side, so like reaching one wouldn't be a problem. but you would reckon, you know, if this thing is kind of Because you see an equal amount of tentacles on either side of the ship, you would reckon that it is centered on the bottom of the ship. Right? So again, doing what you've seen from the ship, you know, you might be able to calculate how far it would be to to to the body. Right. it's girth. Sure. Alright. I think what I'm gonna do is massive slippery girth. Nope. I'll go for What's the distance between the two tentacles roughly? Like, I don't know. So that's Forty feet. Excellent. What I'm gonna do then is I'm gonna pick a space in the air between where these two tentacles are. Pythagoras, maths, wizard, thinking, fair, using the head, not just the fists. and I I'm gonna kinda pick a spot kind of in the middle between them and I'm gonna cast shatter. I think I'm gonna clap my hands aiming for this kind of center point that would then radiate out to the two tentacles. Okay. So we'll say to do that you'd need to move to this side of the mast. Yeah. Well she the entire side of the ship just not how that works. That's not I thought it was. That's not how that works at all. That's not how that works. He's like, Nobody told me about a giant sea monster in the hole. They tried stupid. He is going to whiff on both attacks. Yeah! Somebody else sucks as much as I do. So he's just got this rapier out and he just really doesn't know how to handle it. He's like he's like, Are you guys seeing this? He's gone from hero to zero in this passage. He was so intimidating like like two sessions ago and now he's just like so lame. And you knew f you know full on that like while like he may have had, you know bit of a a kind of brawler's tendencies in his in in his spare time. You know that at his core this guy is a data analyst from like the third floor. So like you know like you know, he may be trying to put on a big game, but you know, at the end of the day, he's pretty decent with a sword, but you know, he's I'm just gonna shout, stop before you hurt yourself.
