Ellie Hubbard: you Are you so excited, Kevin? He's our first star. Our first guest. Hello, everybody. Hello. To the Rumor Busters podcast with Becca and Ellie. Hello. Welcome. Okay, so well, I guess at first we're gonna kind of tell a little bit about each other, but in interview style. So, one of our first questions, I'll go first, Ellie. Who are you outside of work? Always on the go. Go go go go go. That's me. That is correct. Who are you outside of work? too busy and I keep adding more stuff onto my plate. But I'm usually pretty lazy to be honest. I like to be lazy, but I'm never able to be lazy. Phone scroller for sure. okay. What do you actually do for work? Well, I currently work at Airflow Heating, the best place ever. And I do customer service and I also do marketing and help with sales coordination. Same. I work at Airflow too and I'm the office manager, so I try and manage the office the best I can and the people and the employees and paperwork. Lots of paperwork. She knows everything about everything, we're being honest. Whatever. How would you describe yourself in three words? Hmm. Personable, fun. And a little nutty. I would say, and I sure hope this isn't making a bunch of noise. I'm sure it is. I would say that I am creative, funny, and anxious. That would be my three to describe. and how would you describe me in three words, Ellie? always willing to learn new things. So, what would you call that? You're an entrepreneur. A hundred percent an entrepreneur. reserved, but also fun and outgoing when you know you. I would say she is selfless, very funny, and also an entrepreneur in her own right. I would not be able to do this without her. I am too shy on my own. Don't mind Kevin. He's our first star of the night. Fat Kevin. Are you the person who hears the Workplace gossip or the person people tell everything to? Well, I think when we were first writing these down, we both agreed that we are both the same in that regard. I definitely feel like though I'm the person who just hears things just because I hear them. I'm not usually one who goes and seeks it out, I'll say that. Yeah. Just involved without wanting to be involved. I'll hear random things and I'm like What? So I'm more of like the listener. The receiver. Right. Not the giver. Okay. And let's see. Are you confrontational or silently collecting evidence? I could be confrontational when I want to be, but I'm also silently collecting evidence behind the scenes. Yes, that's me. I'm always observing. Watch out. I have a note on my desk that says, I like to match energies, so you get to choose what we're gonna go with. What? He wants to have the attention. He has some gossip. He's got gossip. Do you have gossip, Kevin? Yes he does. He's running. Okay. what's your biggest workplace pet peeve? god. People who just are petty about certain things, like they just they want to stir stuff up just to have fun. Like just stay in your own lane, just do your job, go to work and go home. That's all you gotta do. That's all we're there to do. H VA C that is all we're there to do. Say my biggest pet beef, I hate when people don't communicate and also act like they don't know how to do anything. Google is free and we now have AI. So I don't know why you're asking me how to clear your search history. That's all I'm gonna say about that. I forgot about those two things. Those are really good answers. Okay. what's something people would be surprised to know about you? Hmm. I really like to play The Sims. I did not know that. People know that I like to play video games sometimes. Sometimes GTA is fun just to drive around and crash into things though. Not actually playing it. What about you, Ellie? I like to leave a mess behind when people don't clean and I have a rotten toe. Hey, but you're getting that ticket. I am. Which is very good. Finally. Sick nine six months, three months of oral medication and six to twelve months for it to heal completely. Crazy. Thanks. Yeah. Woo. Okay. And who's Who is more likely to say, I probably shouldn't tell you this, but Me. Me. Definitely do the same thing. That's me. I literally I'm like, don't tell anyone to whomever, whoever. Not even work related. It's just anything. It's like, you can't tell anyone this, but Yes. Yes, but. Well, when you're friends for almost sixteen years, I kind of think that you then become sisters and sisters should know everything that the other sister knows. That's right. Got one more silly little question here. Predict the role you'll each play in rumorbusters. I feel like I'll be more behind the scenes collecting the data. And Ellie will be really good at helping people get the stories. Yeah, share it. Because she has like advertised Facebook friends. I have like twelve hundred, but thank you all for subscribing. Yeah, thank you. We're so excited. now I guess we can talk about how we first met. do you wanna tell the story, Ellie, or would you like me to tell the story? go ahead. Okay. Well, I moved here, junior year of high school here, Squim, and I was sitting all by myself at lunch 'cause I'm really bad at making new friends by myself and Ellie asked me to sit with her and her friends. And then I sat with her and her friends every day. And then I found out that we lived in the same apartment complex. And then we started working at the same hotel together. It's crazy. And we've been together ever since, other than just a little period of time. Weren't we applying to jobs during high school too? Like before we graduated, we were going out and sending out applications to places. And you got a job at Dairy Queen and I didn't. Yeah. But we were also applying at dental clinics too. Yeah. Weren't we? Yep. Then I got a job at a dentist in town and then I don't know where You landed after that, but I started working back at the hotel. and then you were working there. So and then after that it was just job after job. We were together. Yep, it was pretty we found each other again. then we after the hotel, we worked at nursing home together. That was a lot of fun. Crazy. We did that for a really long time. And then Ellie left because I don't know if you know this about nursing homes, but they cut positions a lot. And her position got cut. So that was really depressing. but she started working at Airflow and then I moved on to a dental clinic after COVID because I was not doing the nursing home anymore after that. I don't even know if we're allowed to say that on YouTube. I'm pretty sure we're not, but whatever. What did you just say? COVID. I don't think you can say that on YouTube. The virus. The virus. Just say that. Yeah. So after the virus, I quit working at the nursing home seven days a week, twenty four hours a day it felt like. and worked at a nursing home and or at a dental office. And then I went back to a different nursing home and after a couple of weeks they let me go. And then I posted on Facebook and I said, I need a job. And my old job asked me to come back and Ellie told me she had a position open. Thank the Lord. I was so glad they hired me. Even though there was gonna be two Beccas, that you were gonna be the third Becca that has worked at Airflow. I was like, Thank God you're coming back because you just always want to do stuff and you wanna learn stuff and add stuff and just do more and build stuff better than it is. Yeah. And y you love marketing and you're so smart with computers and the internet and everything, electronics. So thank God. Yes, it's very nice. Yeah. Let's see. I don't know if I remember first impressions because it was so long ago. I think I was just really happy that somebody was being nice to me at a new school. You were really quiet. I remember that. You were very quiet. And my friend group, I don't even remember who it was. I think it was like Paige and a couple other people. Elaine. and if you're watching this, hi. Probably not. yeah, it was just like a small group and then I saw you and I like, Hey, you can come sit with us and you were just really quiet. And then Yeah. We ate sandwiches every day together. I think we definitely immediately clicked. I think so. That was pretty good. let's see. I was I don't think I was ever intimidated by you. I wasn't by you. I wish that I was as I was outgoing as you were. I do not remember that. I do not remember that either. But think I was intimidated. You were always very nice. let's see. What was the moment you knew you'd be best friends? I've been waiting to answer those questions. And I think you're gonna agree. Okay. When you hid in the closet, my ex-boyfriend came over to have a conversation. That's right. Because I was really nervous he was gonna try to get back together with me. What was I supposed to do? Just pop out of the closet like, you're not getting back together with him. I don't really know. That would have been really awkward. but yeah, I think that was probably the moment. who else would do that for you? He's probably watching this being like she was in the closet. Yeah, I wonder if he'll even realize. I wonder if they'll even realize who it is. What's something you've been through together that cemented the friendship? probably all the BS at the nursing home. Yeah, and just the ups and downs and like our lives too. Yeah. Like yeah. It's a lot. Sixteen years, that's a long time. That's a really long time. There's a lot of stuff that happened. Yeah. Some stuff I can't even remember. For better or for worse. There was a lot of crazy things though. When you work at a nursing home, you just know. Yeah. You know. You know, you know. Yep. let's see. I think well what I thought of you when we first met, I think I've said that, and I think you've said that. But what do I know about you now? I know that you're very funny. you you can get e easily agitated, but so can I. So the littlest things. It's kind of funny because I always feel like if I'm in a bad mood, Ellie's in a good mood. And when Ellie's in a bad mood, I'm in a good mood and we're always like kind of tiptoeing around each other for a little bit and then we're like, wait, we don't have to do that. Yeah. Silly. Some things, yeah. I get easily set off by certain people and things that just yeah, undescribable. It's undescribable unless you are in it and understand it. Yeah. One on one. It's it always makes sense. It's never stupid things, but what I know about you now is that you are very fun and I already said this, but outgoing and you always want to do something or come up with something new for our friend group, like do an activity night or a party night or a Halloween themed event or, you know, and you're always the person who plans it all. So you are the planner. And we need that in our friend group. I appreciate that very much because I am a planner, but I am not creative. So that's where you come in. Well, she says that, but we did photos, a photo shoot for our best friends a few months ago and she was taking behind the scenes photos and she did a very good job. So she can be very creative. She just doesn't like to believe it. Yeah. So hopefully during this podcast we can show her how creative she really can be. Okay. We'll see. Okay. The workplace gossip phenomenon. I have to say, I remember growing up, everyone was always like, just wait until you get out of high school, the drama doesn't stop. Or you'd have the people that were the opposite and they'd be like, it's just high school. It won't be like that when you get out and I have to say, workplace drama can be much worse than school drama sometimes because Grown women can be really mean. And men are just weird. So the two don't go together. School was the worst part of my life, so I'm grateful for where I'm at now. Thank God. It's like one big game of telephone in your Yes company. Yeah. Especially in a small town. I mean, I'm sure it's like that everywhere, but in a small town. Everyone knows everybody. Everyone went to school with everybody. Everyone stayed everybody's boyfriends and girlfriends. Everyone's got babies with everyone. Baby daddies and baby mamas. So drama in the household, drama with the exes, drama at the workplace, drama at the store. Yes, and I mean co the road OMG. Drivers in this freaking town. Holy moly. We could start like a whole other podcast. Great. Okay. So And please excuse us as we get through this first episode. This is our very first podcast and honestly my very first time ever recording like an actual video. So it's a little bit I don't think that's your first time ever recording a video. You do video recordings for work all the time. It's that's different, I think. Trying to come up with a conversation feels weird. Really? I don't think so. we'll get through this together. Yes. Why does one person always somehow know everything? And it's always the person you would never think to know everything. How? How? I know how. It's lies. It all comes from here. And then it's said in a certain way. And you say it to a certain person and they're like, I'm gonna take it this way and interpret it this way. And then that person's gonna tell this person their way that they heard it. And it's gonna be completely different from what the first person said. And then the first person could have been lying about the whole thing. And it's just this this, you know, tumble effect where it just goes to the next person, the next person, and then when finally gets around to the person who it's about, even if it's about somebody or if it's just about something that happened, it's always like so bizarre. Like it's the telephone game, just like you said. You pass the telephone or you say something in the telephone, one word or two words, and then you say it to the next person, and then it gets back to you at the very end, twelve people later, and it's completely different. And it's funny every single time when you find out what's the truth and what's a lie. Two truths and a lie, right? There's a game actually that they came out with that you draw what you see and then you pass it around. You or you say the word and then the person next to you has to draw it and then the next person has to draw it again or guess what it is, and then the next person has to draw it, and then the next person has to guess what it is, and then it comes back to you. And one time mine was like a school bus and then it comes back as like a hotel. I'm like, how did it turn into a hotel? That sounds like fun. It's yeah, it's really fun. I forget the name of it. Timmy knows. So let's see. Let's see, let's yeah, like the telephone game, you know. I think someone's so and so's interviewing at another job. And then it turns into so and so's moving, going all the way to Arizona and starting her own candle business, leaving her husband and her kids behind, and then come to find out they weren't even interviewing for a job. Or they were at a doctor's appointment. What? Or something really crazy happens and you're like, that can't be true. And it's totally true. And you're like, what? When did that happen? There's some crazy stuff I've heard, and I'm gonna say we're not gonna be talking about our current workplace because we would not be disrespectful like that as we love our job. But there when I first started, I had gotten a kidney stone that took almost two months to get out, and there was some crazy stuff happening and I'm still learning some of it. So crazy 'cause it's all real. Mm-hmm. And every time my jaw drops I when I find something new out And you gotta love the clicks. The the the little groups of people four, four in a circle, three in a circle here. During our Christmas party, we try and like spread people out, and everyone always goes back to the same area that they work in, like services here, installs here, and then you get the lingerers like me, or you know, all the other supervisors who just walk around and talk to people and chat with people. And then you have Kim who's just everywhere. I just love it. I just love a good word. We love our Christmas party. It is the best party ever. pretty. Part four. Part four. Why we start a podcast. I before our leadership meeting, I was putting together some notes just to have as reference for you know talking points. And one of the talking points was gonna be how we can build our team and come up with team events and just have everyone come together and do like a a game essentially at our next all staff meeting. And one was how to prevent gossip or to stop gossip when it, you know, in its tracks so it doesn't spread into rumors. and they were describing you can take all these rumors into a basket and you can put one lie into it that's not a rumor that has never been said, and then like kind of do like tooth truths and a lie, but myth busters, is it a myth or is it a fact? And so we were like, but it's rumors that we're hearing. So then we're like, my God, rumor busters. Instead of myth busters, rumor busters. So we came up with this podcast because that. And there's just so many things you hear out there in the workplace, your next door neighbor, your family, everywhere, literally everywhere. that we just were like, let's see what some people's rumors have been. you know, what they've experienced, what they're like and and take them and just analyze them and talk about them and it's gonna turn into a hit. And I hope it is. I cannot wait. I I don't know why, as Ellie said a few times, I'm very shy and reserved when you first get to know me, but I'm one of those people where once you know me I'm outgoing and fun and whatever. But something I've always wanted to do is start a podcast. And when I first started working at Airflow, our duck cleaner Tony, I always joked with him. we got really into reading that first year working there. And we were always joking with him that we were gonna make him do a podcast with us and do a book review podcast of our spicy books that we like this middle-aged fan who has no idea about any of these books, so it would have been really funny. but obviously that never happened. I've tried to part start podcasts with my fiance. I've tried to start podcasts with my sister and so thank the Lord it's finally happening with Ellie. She finally pulled the plug, took the bait and joined me in this. And I'm really glad and we've gotten a few stories already, so don't forget. To submit. we have our link everywhere to the Google form. It's completely anonymous. No names. No names, no workplaces. If you do put that information in there, we will be changing it and identifying information because we're not trying to get sued or then we'll know who you are too. We don't need to know that. No. Silly, silly people. Maybe one day when we get big. writ famous and have a studio. yeah. Then we can use real names 'cause nobody will know where it came from. And no, this is not just for little tiny squim Washington. This is for anybody who comes across the whole world. And it doesn't necessarily have to be workplace drama. That's just kind of where we just rumors. Just the rumors, crazy stories. We want to talk about your crazy stories, please. We want to hear them. We love I showed Ellie Reddit one time and lord. Ever since then we're always sending each other the funniest stories off of there, sharing them with our coworkers. So we figured might as well kind of, you know, find some funny stories and talk about them. It's a good time and it will always be something different. And now it's the TikToks. It's like tell me the craziest story your ex has done. Or the the most unhinged thing that they've done or the most unhygienic thing that they have done. And there is some nasty things on the internet and nasty things that people do. And yeah, it's a little it's it's very disturbing to hear, but we wanna hear it. Exactly. Yeah. So we're really excited. it's definitely gonna be fun. I think let's see. I really you know, I can't wait to see stories that Make us speechless is really what I'm looking for. And stories that make us laugh. Yes. Uncontrollably laugh. And I'm sure every single one of you has at least one. So we better see lots of submissions once we release this podcast. and we're hoping to release our podcast every Wednesday, but we are both full time working women. So and full time dog moms. Dog moms, aunties. fiance, daughters the list goes on and on and it never ends. There's always too much to do. We our friend Megan got married in August and she we did her bachelorette party in April and I remember telling my fiance, don't worry after the wedding or after her going away party, everything's gonna calm down. No. No, nothing has calmed down. It's still just as crazy. Start a photography business. which you won the best of in the West End. Yes. my gosh, it's you can this podcast is gonna be released on Wednesday. We can say it. Thank you to Ellie. She voted for me all day, every day. Every day. I don't know how many other people were actually out there voting, but thank you. That was really nice. yeah, so just always trying to find ways to keep ourselves busy and hopefully with some of these ways it will Turn out very well. And we will continue this podcast, I told Ellie, for at least one year. And if it doesn't go anywhere after that, then we can do something else. But pretty much every week we're gonna be busy doing this at least a night or two. It'll be fun. Editing is not something video editing like this is not something either of us have ever done. so if you have any tips or pointers, Thank you, Riverside. Yes, thank you, Riverside, thank you, Amazon. And Movo. Speakers and stuff. If anyone wants to sponsor us, you would really love that. we love our local businesses. So if you want an advertisement, support local. we hope to have guests on eventually. my younger brother works at a fast food restaurant, so he's got some really good stories from that. already been commenting. Just waiting to spill the tea. So that'll be fun. And just waiting to listen to it and hear it and watch us for the first time. So that's cool. Yeah. So hopefully. yeah. So let's go on to part some ground rules. some of you have already seen our ground rules on our social medias. rumorbusters pod, rumorbusters podcast everywhere. Go subscribe. A lot of things don't have any content yet, including our TikTok account, but we'll be coming out with lots, don't you worry. We're very busy ladies. but again, no real names. No company names. change Any potentially identifying details. We are not investigative journalists establishing if allegations are factual. Sorry. and some we may edit some submissions just for privacy or clarity. so if you submitted a story and we kind of changed it a little bit and you're like, what the heck? that's why. Because again, we're not trying to out anybody because we don't want get sued. And don't submit something that you have the intention of like publicly attacking somebody or shaming somebody because that's not what we want either. We're not here to make fun of people. We're here to joke about situations. Yeah. Yeah. And again, the Google form is down on all of our down in the subscriptions, on all of our social medias. again, it's completely anonymous. You won't we won't even see your email, so we won't even be able to contact you back and ask questions. we might ask questions in podcasts and follow up later. so if you do see us talk about your your story and you have anything you want to add or clarify or even if there's updates because it's a current story, just go back on the Google form and let us know. We'll have the link down in the comments for you guys to add your stories too. Well. And I know this episode might be a little short. I don't honestly know how long we've even been recording. I haven't been paying attention, but are we gonna read any submissions? We have some small ones we could read. Yeah. let's see. Do you I can't I don't have my phone though because we're recording on my phone. I have mine. Are able to get to the Google document? Yes. Okay. There's some s short ones on there that a couple of people have submitted that are pretty good. We've got a long one for next next week's podcast and it's pretty funny. It's pretty interesting. And definitely can see see it happening. Gotta figure out what email it's in. I don't even think I'm logged in. We can cut this part out if we have to. A blooper. Yeah, you guys have to get really good at clipping our podcasts. Like all of those those Twitch streamers are really good at getting clips. We need people to help us with clips. Do remember what? I also think that it might be in a different no. I think it might be under my work Gmail. would be Okay, after that brief intermission. Trying to figure all of this out. It's not a our strong suit. So we asked some people, give us all the tea. we'll read a few that we've gotten so far. And we'll talk about the first one, I had a coworker who believed the way that you use bear spray was the same way you would apply bug spray. I'm sure that was not a very good day for that person and I really, really just hope and pray that they did not spray it all over their face. Or anywhere with like an open wound. I don't know. That stuff's pretty serious. Wha what were you thinking? Like seriously? Really? Do people already bear spray? Like would you have done that with pepper spray? Right. Like, do you think you spray yourself with pepper spray and that keeps the bad guys away? Yeah. Instead of spraying them. my gosh. All right, the next one. Once I had a coworker whose washing machine quit working, so he looked up on YouTube how he could get by without buying a new one. He started using his bathtub to wash his clothes with a method of using the toilet plunger. That's sick. I just know it. How is that? Like unless it was like a brand new one from the Dollar Tree. I mean, what are you doing? Wait, was it in the did they s he cleaned it in the bathtub though, right? Yeah. Okay. With a toilet plunger. The toilet water. Skids. Yum. He cleaned his toilet while cleaning his gonna come to work the next day smelling like a turd. Leftover toilet water. my gosh. Disgusting. I'm sorry, wait. Who freely gives up that information? I would not be telling my coworkers if I was cleaning my clothes with a toilet plunger. Maybe it's a rumor. Maybe. Maybe it's a lie. You never know. It could just be something made up. Cleaning it in his washer machine with like a stick. And the rings that makes it spin to ring it all out. I always watch those videos of them like using that old riveted like sink in the outside, like down in Mexico, where they'd like, you know, use the bar of soap to like use the rivets to clean the clothes. I always like watching those videos. I don't know why. They're just so comforting. Thank you, Samsung, for my washer and dryer. okay, the next one. I accidentally bumped the smoke break table and knocked over someone's coffee all over the place, and they replied, Nice work, Grace. Someone who didn't know my name called me Grace for over a year before I corrected them. I wonder where they even got that from. I wonder how they were. Maybe it's like a Karen. Like Yeah. You know, you're a Karen, but I guess Grace is like a Karen, maybe, or maybe they thought your name was Grace. Who knows? Like like our sales manager is Jara, and for like six months I was calling her Jara. Nobody ever corrected me, and then one day Ellie goes, It's Jara. And I was like how come she never said that to me? Because I don't know why, but I don't I didn't wanna like I didn't want to say her name's Jara, not Jara. Jara, like I didn't wanna like be rude and say, I don't know, make you upset for saying the wrong name the whole time. No, no, no. So I just let it go on and then finally I'm like, okay, I can't handle this anymore. Yeah. even Jara didn't say anything. I'll blame it on my dyslexia. That's fine. Yeah. And for now that is just some of our shorter submissions. We'll obviously keep the longer ones for the episodes themselves. I don't know if there's anything else you want to go over, but I think this will be a pretty good first episode. What's our outro? yeah. Your workplace has rumors. We have microphones. Submit the T. That's right. Link in bio. one of the what does everyone say? Like, subscribe and follow. Like, subscribe and follow. Wherever you can find podcasts. Rumor Busters. Okay, bye. Bye. He's like, what?
