Christopher: Welcome to another League Knight! Thank you for everyone who has liked and subscribed. It has really helped our view count. I am Christopher, and this is Roy: Roy. Christopher: We are so happy to have you here today as we're talking about something special. There's been rare and in-between instances where Lorcana has released non packs. we've been seeing a lot of rumors about the Great Honey Rescue. But first off, let's get some idea. What does it mean? releasing something other than packs. We're talking about dials, mats, card sleeves. Don't buy their look card sleeves. Trust me. well first off let's talk about gateway. This was actually the thing that got me into Lorcana. And actually not the first item, non-pack related item they released. I have the box right here. This is kind of what you would expect. you see this a lot in Pokemon. It's a two-player version of Lorcana that takes you through how to play. It breaks down a lot of the core mechanics of hey, you know, here how inking goes, and here how this goes. There's a lot of fun fundamentals in little mini games that you play against another person. it comes with a board to like, hey, this is how you should set up your cards. and it came with a bunch of cards that came with it. I think the for total it was like not a lot, like maybe twenty five, thirty dollars. And it didn't come with a lot of legendaries or anything like that, but it did come with at the time, Rabbit, Merlin Madam Fox, a lot of core cards that you needed for Purple. Kind of the reasons why I enjoyed Borpal so much is from that. the next thing that came out afterwards, well, the thing that came out before, which was not like this, were the Illuminir quest. There are two current ones, Deep Trouble, which is where you fight Ursula, and the next one is the Palace Heist, where you have to fight Jafar. All of the Illuminir quests in the first set were about This Hexwell crown that the big baddies were capturing and they had this unlimited amount of power and only the Illumineers could go and stop them. if you did not know, there's an actual storyline to Lorcana every set. And it historically has followed the battle for the Hex for the for the crown and after Fable, they actually went a different direction and changed the the look and feel. so the first rotation ended the first major storyline, funny enough. So Roy, I know that Magic has had similar type of story driven things. what was probably your favorite story push that that Magic had? Roy: My favorite one it would ha actually have to be back in the day with Daros though, which actually provided their own P V and content though. I don't know if you can f still find this deck nowadays, but there's the face the Hydra deck. So basically it's it's a custom made deck that represents the Hydra and you basically have to kill the amount of heads though and and to me to to explain it in a shorthand way though, it's basically like playing blackjack, basically. But you're just dealing with multiple heads though, because you gotta eliminate the head, then you gotta eliminate the other head. And then it's funny though, because I was actually running this event when I was working at a card shop though, and it's I don't know. I I had this I had this feeling like a black check dealer 'cause we had people come up and play for packs though. So people were playing combo decks, aggro decks, control, board wipes, goblins running after everything. So it was compatible for every sort of play and it was just fun. Christopher: Okay. Roy: I hope that more more T C's in general though, but the special war kinda provides us a more of a more of a P V E situation to where instead of just having it having the typical one on one battles, I would like to see more scenarios like this as far as like co op going up against either a big bat or accomplishing a set of quests or just basically doing the traditional run around the the board game thing and and complete the objective though. the concept It's excellent though. Christopher: It in this Hydra mode, so did you basically have to build your own deck, c get your own cards and and then there's a say you bought the pre-mate deck that you had to fight against? Roy: No, no, no. It was already a pre-made deck though. So it had a whole bunch of different cards that would do something like, you know, clear the board or grow another head, which is another head, and then you have to basically take down the life points though. So like you have like I think there was like five life heads, ten life heads, and twenty life heads. And depending on the difficulty, you either either have them start out like that or just randomly draw into them. Christopher: was there decks that came with the set that you played with or no? Yeah. Roy: No, it was it was completely it was a completely standalone deck to play against any sort of deck though. I got comboed out on turn three with like a really powerful deck. I was it was awesome. Christopher: Nice. Yeah. So I guess that's one difference between the the decks here. So in well we'll start off with Gateway. Gateway of course comes with, you know, a set of predefined cards and they're they're set legal cards. There's nothing unique with them. One interesting thing that Ravensburger has been moving away from is they also came with a pack, which was fun. so you get to at the end open like this pack and y you might get some good cards, you know, w whatever pack luck might happen. and in the other sets, and for context too for for players, this worked very, very similarly to how the game the the starter decks work, where you get a set of sixty cards and then one random pack. Now they've changed starter decks to have 120 known cards, no random pack And it comes with both starter decks instead of just buying one star deck for another. you know, it great way to kind of bulk out your your collection, and all starter decks always come with at least one legendary and either a super rare or a second legendary, depending on the flavor of the deck, and usually some sort of promo. In Lumineer's quest, they did something interesting. They you have your deck of you know special cards. You can't play in Lorcana. But that's just for the baddie, so like your Hydra deck. and these are usually really powerful cards, like a two cost five six or something like that, you know. Some really, really good board wipes. and we'll get into how to play afterwards, but you also come with two starter decks, pre-made decks, to fight them. So you can come and just buy the the quests and you'll have an entire deck at your disposal. Now Roy: Yeah, yeah. Christopher: You know, the the decks are tuned to certain strengths. None of them had something like Dumbo in it or well not the good Dumbo. They they had the weaker Dumbo that can give a a character maybe flying or something. They also had a special promo card that is in the box. and you had no idea what it was. And it says, Do not open until you win. Of course people open and and people love to spoil it, but again, usually it was I think the Palace Heist one was you got a Pinocchio, a legendary Pinocchio special promo. I can't remember what Ur Ursula one was a Hexwell crown. half Hexual crown, which was a six cost item that you could exert to draw a card. so these are, you know, some pretty fun fun things, but nothing you've ever seen in a meta at all. And they're beautiful cards because again, they're they're special promo cards that were only available in that set. Roy: Okay, so they they so they actually included some sort of price structure within the product itself. Did did they did they stop doing that or d or they continue to make that a thing? Christopher: Yep, absolutely. Well, according to the Great Honey Raced Rumor Mill, we might see two promo cards that's coming with it. or I've also heard possibly a promo card and a pin, which is even crazier, the fact that they got a completely different direction, and it pin trading is super popular at Disney right now, so I could see why they want to feed into to that interest group. Roy: I think they want to hit the demographic that actually hits up like the Disney theme parks. So I'm starting to read a lot about. there's a lot of like, you know, just basically people peeking in it's like, this is my first pre-release though, and I'm I'm going to Disney World. I'm like, Whoa. I'm like, Okay, so you're you're going to the source or the the source of all all this awesomeness though. I'm like, Wow, okay. Pick me up a promo map while you're out there, you know? Christopher: Absolutely, yeah. I know, I love to I'm at just the unique mats and, you know, some of the again, don't don't buy the cardbacks. The cardbacks are absolute trash, whatever you do. But the other cool things that they do release, that that's absolutely worth it. Deck boxes are are great. They're much more stable and they still have the cool cool art. So let's kinda dive into I have the Palace Ice here. I also have Ursula's Revenge, but the packaging was not nearly as good for Ursula's Revenge. Roy: okay. Christopher: i it came with a like a really flimsy piece of paper for deck tracking and in this one in the palace heist you have this beautiful board really well made for this is Jafar's play area and one of the things that you have to do is you have to get to 40 lore instead of twenty. And each person when they quest, I think if I remember right, they put quest for their own lore, but you can see is Jafar has a special crown ability right there. his inkwell, locations that there's barricades, so he puts down things to stop you. and then his discard, scenario deck, and of course his you know, his hand, which auto magically get played. So it's a very simple mechanic on like the cards play themselves effectively. Roy: so that reminds me then. So this is not like the beat the hydric deck though. it's similar to another magic product that I that I I used to play a lot though, Arc Enemy. So basically you one player against three players, one V three. And they have the ability to like they have like these special cards called schemes that they draw every single time. So it's like, you know, villa villainous quotes though, but it's like okay, board wipe or three damage to each person or something like that. That's crazy. Okay. So they do have Arc Enemy in there. Nice. Christopher: this is so there's different levels of difficulty you can choose. this is like the easy version and it has like, you know, these are the the rules that come with it. You know you you know, Jafar's characters interplayed exerted, which g always gives you a chance to, you know, defeat them. and then like later on, if you go to like full alert, which is the hardest mode, the locations are evasive and get plus one lore. and it starts with a Roy: Okay. Christopher: inkmote in play, which is gives Javar a lot more resources at the very beginning. of course this is the crown. You can disable the crown. and and and there's whole sorts of steps on on how to do that. So and lastly, of course, this is Jafar's deck. So it comes with a really, really nice deck box. I have all the cards for the from the dex box, all the deck boxes, which is a blurple dex box, and I think the other one was a red green dex bo or red steel deck box. And the cards you can see for three ink, you get a two six with with abilities too. Roy: Okay. Christopher: You know, when Jafar plays his character, he steals a reforged crown. So these these characters that he has are no chumps. five cost six six that quest for two. But since no one is actually playing as Jafar. No one does. It just there's a set of rules. So you have to you can build really, really powerful decks that can easily shut him down. the starter decks have some troubles. Ursula's Revenge, the Star Jack decks had no chance against Ursula. Ursula was way too strong to try and use those. But they the newer the the new decks are actually like, you know, for Jafar's actually kind of interesting. Kind of you you you had a you you could play on the harder levels with those basic decks before you had to really start building your own decks. Also, it can support up to four players. I know the box says one to two, you just have the difficulty. You have the difficulty enough and There's the game's hard enough in order for a four player to play it. Roy: yeah, and like, you know, you can make it like a game board night though. Just literally play aladdin in the background while you're playing it, you know, have it themed. I'm like, yeah, that sounds like a whole night of just pure happiness though. So if you're just if you're just sick of like, you know, playing mundane board games, I mean this this is probably like a premier sort of like icebreaker to get somebody into the game and on top of that just just have a grand old time. Christopher: yeah. Yep, yep. Everyone loved them. Every time these were released, audience audiences were thrilled. We were so pretty much, I guess the the tempo of it, every fourth set, there's been a release. the fourth set, which was the Wild Unknowns, didn't have one. And I guess people were a little bit disappointed to see that we were really, really hoping to to get another one, but it's coming on the thirteenth set That sh should be lucky. but there's also no s very obvious storyline this time around, for Fable. So I guess you could s kind of say like ski Fable was like the skip set. was was the exception for its normal pacing where it's just kind of a call back to all the cool things they did, no real storyline, and then after Fable, you start going into The detective the Halloween set, and I don't know if the Halloween set had I I haven't read all the lore off of it yet, so I'm sure there there's a a bit of a storyline which then plays into Winter Spell, where the the vines appear. And of course this next set will wrap up the whole storyline with the the vines, with the Attack of the Vines, but I'm trying to remember if I remember any cards in the first in the the Halloween set if there was anything f about the vines. Do you remember any of that? Roy: reading through no. I think it's like it's supposed to be like one of those natural occurrences that pop out of nowhere though. So it's it's gonna be basically in my in my reading of it though, like a just a biological, non conscious sort of just thing that exists that it engulfs everything though. Similar to like Eldridge hor horrors though, but a lot less brain, I think. Christopher: Yeah. So what have you heard so far about the great honey rescue? Roy: just skimmy through through the forums and such though. The only thing I seen is like the the product product line and of course like the splash page though. But basically instead of going up against a big bad you're resc you're basically rescuing Piglet from from Doom. I mean, that's been the running theme in the Hundred Acre Wood though, like ever since the one cartoon I used to watch on what they call it the One bustly day or something like that where where Piggle was like caught up in a in a windstorm and constantly and and all of his friends are trying to rescue him. Christopher: Yeah. It was on Wednesday too, 'cause it was windy. Roy: Wendy Wednesday, there you go. That's crazy. Christopher: No, but I remember that one. I I saw that exact same cartoon. Roy: I love those cartoons back in the day. I think I might have to go back and either buy the D V Ds or get like VHS tapes if I could find them though and just just show show to my kid though. Just relive that magic. Christopher: Something that I find is interesting about this is some of the reveals. We've actually been seeing vine cards. Cards that aren't from a cartoon that are just dealing with the storyline. Have you seen any of those? Roy: Far as like I yeah, Disney characters are that are being converted to from the vine and such though, like you know, of the vine or something. Is that what you're Christopher: Well, they're actual just like parts of the vine. Are our cards. I'd seen I I kid you not. I I have seen a couple of those. They've been linked on a couple of the disc chords. Give me one Roy: No, get out of here. thought that was fake though. I thought that I thought potato exodio like fake. Christopher: potato is just for Mr Potato Head, and but there's there there's a shift Mr. Potato Head can shift onto So that that is real. Roy: Yes. Okay. Christopher: I mean the fact that Mr. Potato Head could shift onto a potato an item potato. I don't know what the potato is for either, which is a whole nother hilarious thing too. Just like Roy: Look, the potato right now is a meme, so it's trending like crazy. I love the potato. Christopher: love lo absolutely love it. I I'm going to figure out some deck to make it work in. I I I do enjoy green, so yeah, but I saw of course the vine is in the in actual video card art so you have to defeat you know defeat these these people actually you know what posie this one Let me send you this to our Discord. And let me know, is this a actual from a TV show or is this just one off? There's but there's there's a divine character too. Gonna keep looking for it. Roy: Yeah, I've been seeing this pop up occasionally. Okay. But the type is story born, so it's not flood borne. Christopher: R right. and here they are let me just So Attack of the Vine. It's an actual card too. Roy: Okay. Christopher: And next one that is really interesting is the Source of the Vine. No way Source of Vine is a as a reference to any other any other actual movie or I don't do can you think of anything that might be referencing? Roy: No, this is purely I think it's like straight from like, you know, the original original material for for this game. Christopher: Just send you one more. So yeah, this is the first time I've I I've ever seen like in the Lumineers quest. I gotta absolutely understand. Yeah, no, this makes sense to to put that in there. But the Vine Pod, Broken Vine, very interesting that that they're actually coming with some original IP. I mean, I guess you could say like the the the fact that Anna has telepathic powers is kind of original, but again, it's it's a bit derivative. You know, it it's still Disney at heart, but now the Vind is a a character. Really, really, really interesting. so I'm I'm I'm very, very curious to see if if we're going to s this is a new trend. moving forward, if more story elements, maybe Illumineers, kind of like how planeswalkers were added to Magic of the Gathering. Roy: Yeah. Okay, so looking at these three cards though, okay, this is this is how this is how brilliant the team is though, whoever writes the low lore for this though. In three cards, I automatically know what the plot is now. I'll wait for it. It's basically invasion of the body snatchers done in Disney Fight. If you think about it. There you go. Because you got Gaston, you got Mrs. Incredible being taken over. Like no, this is great. I love this. Christopher: Yes, yes. Yeah, I'm really really curious to see what what else comes out. And if if I hope that it's it's well received because I love for actual story parts of the the the vine stuff to come out. Why haven't they done a cartoon of any of the Lumineers quests as well? Like why haven't they put that on that that that's a great straight to streaming product right there? Roy: Yeah, it's it's kinda like, all right. They've been trying to make a Match the Gathering like Netflix sort of adaptation deal for the longest time though, and it's just it's stuck in production heck. I'm like, okay, why can't they and is and it roll rolls in the same question, why does it take forever to make video game movies or like video game cartoons though? It's just like there's not enough resources for it just takes forever. That's why people create their own, like, you know, unique IPs though. But I don't know what their resources are at though, but I would I would actually watch a movie like this though. Like a good forty five to fifty minute short movie, you know, just explaining and showing you showing all the Illuminators going after it though. Like this is like okay, to me this is kinda like Kingdom Hearts though, but just kinda like maybe the first thirty or forty five minutes of of the game itself though. If you if you catch my drift. Christopher: Nope, I absolutely get it. And have you seen the Ravensburger old videos that they had for like the really old sets? Roy: Yeah. No. They got they got pr trailer promos and stuff? Christopher: They had trailer promos that that highlighted some of the, you know, attack of the Ursula and the attack of Jafar, which then, you know, when when they came out with the like the box set of like, you actually get to fight them now? That's so cool. it made it that much better. I'll try and find that at one point. Yeah, the the old videos for it it's they're they're they're fun. they didn't they didn't spoil that much either. Roy: Yeah. Yeah, 'cause No, that's the perfect thing about about these trailers though. They're like, you know, it's like, this big person's coming here and let me introduce a couple characters and they just happen to be our arts on cards though. So so I'm I'm assuming they're probably gonna release a trailer for Attack of Divine, huh? Christopher: Yep, yep. I don't think they did one for Wintervale. they didn't do it one for Whispers of the Well, or Fable. So I think they they stopped after they definitely sucked for Fable. it's yeah again, why why not make a T V series? I would love it. Roy: Or just like, you know, YouTube shorts or something like that. Like I would I would I wouldn't mind watching like a short fifteen minute, like ten minute video, like, you know, part one, part two, you know, all this stuff. Like a web web tube series though, I would totally totally be down for it. That was a big trend back then in twenty tens though. You notice like a lot of they were experimenting back in the day with media with like these short form like content, like fifteen minute episodes. You remember those? Yeah, for like different shows and such though, so Christopher: Yeah, me too, me too. Yep. Yep, I do. Roy: Yeah, but you know, the budget for those things, I don't know. I don't want I don't want to jinx it though, but I think they probably got something like that down in the works though. But it's just depends on demand though. And if we if any inclination of basically seeing the prices of of these boxes and like the hype that's surrounding this new set and the previous set, I'm thinking that they're probably gonna be having a a couple second thoughts about bringing more media into this though because the more eyeballs you get into and you get people in into the lore. then you start weaving them into the card game though. That's just marketing one on one. You gotta get people to feel that like that twinge inside their heart when they see something. Christopher: Well, and you put the Lorcana stuff into the streaming app and that can encourage people to subscribe to Disney Plus and then that just you know, again, help feed that ecosystem. Roy: yeah. I mean if they actually put it out as a Disney Plus exclusive though, I would distinctively just subscribe just for that, just to watch the the episodes or the movie, or whatever they decide to put out. Christopher: Well that's enough theorizing what they should do. Let's go into things that they did do. and actually going into I I found that they did have a Whisper of the Well YouTube video, but it didn't actually have like an animation like some of them. So yeah the the the there's a story so far that they have. So if you haven't gone to Rivenburgers Games YouTube channel and checked out some of the really, really fun things that they've they've done for animation and stuff and figure out like what's going on in this this universe. There there's few things up there that might be fun to kinda get caught up. Roy: Yeah. Christopher: Okay, now what do we know is going to be in this next Illumineer's quest? Roy: let's see, as far as far as what we know up to this point. There will be two decks. the promos I'm not I'm not too sure that the what they actually do they have a set amount of promos or do they actually tell people like beforehand this is what what promo comes with it though, or is it kinda like a surprise? Spoiler. Christopher: Definitely. it You know what? They've posted the information here. for one to two players with decks included. So that does include two decks. the enemy probably has a deck. I mean the deck mechanic worked really, really well. It's consistent with how the game works, so I'd imagine they would keep with the deck mechanic. Roy: Okay. Okay. Christopher: Other than that, it's it's all in the air. we historically speaking, I would say a one promo. rumors say a promo and a pen. well, two prizes. one's a one's a card and one is a a pin. other than that, we've seen the box art, so we know it's going to be in a nice sturdy box. So because it's going to be a nice sturdy box, it'll probably have a nice game board to it. I'm really excited about that. Roy: Yeah. You know you know, as far as like the box art and the and the board and everything though, the one thing I'm kinda interested is like the tokens that are included with though. So did the previous sets actually have tokens with them? Christopher: They did. they had damage tokens, which were the exact same damage tokens again in the starter box, and then some board tokens, which, you know, again were mechanics for the board, so this was moving in Jafar's lore count, Roy: Perfect, perfect. Okay. Christopher: This was I think that actually is ink I think the one of these is his ink counter. it's been a hot second or two I played it. yeah, so th there there are some little little tokens for mechanics on the board. Something I've heard is in this set are in counter cards. So theoretically this might be more of a D D style versus the other two. you're just fighting a Roy: Hm. Christopher: Big Bad and his his his group of minions. Maybe there are stages you have to play through, which will be really fun. Roy: Here's my speculation for what this this this co op adventure will be like though. It'll probably be as Disney fight as possible a traditional dungeon delving parting quest. So yeah, I'm a big fan of like those type of mangas or adventures though just basically like four adventurers go go into the dungeon just to look for treasure or to rescue a friend or perform a mission or anything like that though. So Christopher: That'll fun. Roy: Yeah, this scenario actually weaves weaves into like the whole lore. And on top of everything else, divine being an entity that you entity and an environment that you have to fight in though, I think is pretty exciting and it's probably gonna be tons of fun. Most likely. But I'm I'm all into it though. Christopher: Well, what type of deck would you expect to come with it? Roy: hands down, probably a version of the of the heavily spoiled and heavily hyped honey character types. So, you know, you got your you got your Christopher Robbins and you got, you know, all all the all the cast of characters that are included in there. And as far as anything goes, I think the second deck will probably like a dip be like I wanna say like an anti vine or like a anti vine sort of geared towards deck though. But that's just my speculation. Christopher: I would suspect it'd be a toy deck. something that really 'cause there's a lot of new Woody and i I'll I would say and it would you know taking a step back even further than toys, general Pixar deck, but usually they they don't go to theming too deep. they do try to do like one little synergistic element. So you know you had the bounce mechanic Roy: Okay. Christopher: that they highlighted for Ursula's for the Deepwater Trouble, Deep Trouble, and then they had you know another mechanic for one of the decks and the other deck was just you know a pretty standard control deck. So I would say that the the other deck I don't think it would be Monsters Inc. there's too many new Monster Inc stuff that's coming out and even though this comes out in Q4 well after the release of this set. we have all the cards for the set, for this release hasn't been spoiled yet, so there could be a bunch of new cards that we don't even expect, but I I'd imagine a monster ink. which deck would you would you be probably be playing for this quest? Roy: I'm playing I'm playing the honey quest deck, basically. I would Christopher: So what are you looking to to kind of how would you build that deck if if you know, once once you get it and you start tweaking it, what type of things that from what we know so far would you like to see in it? Roy: that's a load of questions though. Let me break it down in two different parts though. So when I when I do deck construction, I add all the cards I want, basically four copies of though, and then I play a couple of rounds with them to see what works and what doesn't work. So initially from the jump, I already see a couple of creature Sorry. I already see a couple of creature and character synergies though. So off the bat, turn one roo, turn two owl. So turn one roo is a one one ward for one. Basic, right? And then on turn two, when you when you drop down owl, if you have another honey character in play though, owl gets plus two resists, and if you have another honey character in play, roo has evasive as well. So the early game is like it's stacked because you you could either play you could either start out with that combination or you could either start out with Picklet and the honey wizard. Not the not the original one, but the the two s the the three drop one. And you have to you have to understand like this is too aggro because the best cards in the deck though are basically mid range though. So you're gonna have to even it out one hundred percent. So after that, I'm trying to see okay, then what's the follow up on this though? It's like, well, you need somebody to protect though. That's where rabbit rabbit and gopher comes in. Basically they come into play, exerted. rabbit has bodyguard. you know, just like a typical p paladin. It's supposed to protect your other smaller smaller characters and gopher increases the resist of all your characters when it's exerted though. So it's that damage reduction. So it's pretty powerful against spot removal. And on top of that, it's very powerful against like I've seen I've cranked out I think on average six to eight lore within the first three turns though, and that's like a really good starting point to go. Then comes the follow up, which has devastated me repeatedly. So I play against a couple of control decks though, and they just basically they play spooky sight. So I gotta wait for a follow up on that. And that's the hole I'm missing right now. So the hole now that I actually pivoted to from aggro deck, I pivoted to a mid range deck that has Various synergistics though. Everybody's hyping up Kanga right now and I agree with everybody. A singer five at three, or is it she's at three, right? Yeah. Three CMC. Sing five though. So what is that limit to you? Well, then you gotta start looking at cards that are that are are songs that are five CMC or less. What's the first thing that comes? There you go. You're adding four copies of that. Christopher: Yep, three cost thing five, yeah. Let it go. That's a classic. Roy: And when you when you slam Kinga on the on you don't have to worry about spending your ink in order to do a spot removal. And then what's the second part of that? Then you gotta find then you gotta do card draw mechanics though. So a couple of cards that I've compiled as far as getting the deck s synergized with Kenga. I started I started experimenting with what else can I do? Which is look at the top two cards of your deck, put one in your hand, other in the equal. Pretty good. And if and include with the caveat, if Kenga sang that song, then all your characters have Ward. Very good. Very good against like active spot removal. Christopher: Well w one thing that that confuses me though, like you know, th these characters are different colors, you know, amber and I think you said another character that roux which is emerald as well. But the rest are blue Roy: amber. Christopher: and yeah, blue and amethyst. Roy: Yeah. Christopher: So how are you getting all these characters together in the same deck? Roy: With the clincher. The one and only Christopher Robin, honey sage. Look at this guy. Okay, for six CMC you get a four four. Pretty good, right? Gather the party. You could have other honey characters in your deck regardless of ink time. That just cut that limitation in in basically the pieces, though. So the concept of this card alone, just having it in your deck, you're able to have different colored honey characters. Christopher: So you have the duel ink you know, putting you to blurple, but yet you're still able to have a nice variety of colors. I I think that's going to be a really, really, really interesting deck type, yeah. And if if you just have that one one or two honey characters that really change how people would see and play this game, holy smokes, that would that would really, really, really make make CRISPR Robin pay off. 100% worth it. also there's the other blurple the team cart, which is not the first time we've seen this before. Roy: It's one of my favorite cards, like ever printed up to this point though. So it's Winnie the Pooh and Picklet. If you guys don't know, you know. So it's a three four four for five and it's shift three. So either if you have Winnie the Pooh or Picklet in play, you can shift this for three. Perfect for Picklet, which is one CMC, which is your setup. The second line is to basically protect your protect your Piccolo until you can shift onto this. So for three four, you basically get a character that has the ability when this character This character gets plus one quest for each different ink type of characters you have in play. So initially it has two ink because it has it's two colors on its own. But say if you have Rue, Rabbit, and ER out there though, and with owl, you're basically having all six colors though. So guess what? Guess how much you're questing for every single turn. Christopher: Yeah, i it's an easy forequester if and you can still stretch it out to six. That that that is a really nice ability that gives you a good burst and do that twice, that's twelve ink, you know, and and that would probably win you a game with that one card alone. Roy: Yeah, but that's the that's the number one question though, protecting it though. So the number one thing that I've run across when I play this deck a couple of times is it's basically kill on site. So that's where the ward ward comes in. Christopher: Yeah, absolutely. That's going to r really encourage everyone to make sure to to bring something to remove you know I know war's gonna be tough, but maybe make be some interesting AoE removal to try and take out. Do you know when the first team card came out? Roy: Was it the first set? Christopher: No, it was the third set. it was the eels, flotsam and jetsum. So there's they they have really cool synergy abilities. So like if you when you play this card, all of your flotsum game evasive. When you play this card while while this card is in play, all of your jetsum have plus five strength. So and then there's another one, Flotsam and Jetsum. Roy: What's on? Christopher: Which could shift on either one, and when you play that, it would gain both abilities. So it would be evasive with all the extra strength. So you had this really fun direct card synergy, and you had like s four four or five different abilities that they they shared. so it was a green purple deck. but a emerald hametus deck, but it had you know very specific card synergies, so like these two things work together very, very, very well. and that kind of disappeared for a while. And I guess now we're f seeing actual they didn't actually have the the type team before, but now they they they do. So I'm I'm really, really curious to see if maybe Fotsum and Jetson might come back. and if if that's the case then we'd be able to they they'd be able to r fix it and put team back on the card. Roy: Hey, there you go. Well, you could always have routed the card though, so if there's a rule that needs to be acknowledged for that though. Yeah, but the number one thing that people have been complaining about as far as like the the honey mechanic, it's like, we have to do deck checks constantly. So I don't know how they actually are gonna actually approach that though in tournaments. Christopher: How many Christopher Robins would you put into your deck? Roy: I run four right now, but since it's a high CMC, I'm considering actually shaving it down to three or possibly two. Because it looks like it looks like a mid to aggro yeah, aggro mid deck though, so maybe I'll probably want at the high end. Two at the high end. Christopher: If you're willing to drop Lumpy and Tigger, maybe even Rabbit, Kanga being your highest cost card, well, technically Pooh, you could just have one Christopher Robin and the rest are the low cost and really make this aggro. because yeah, it you you you could keep that three cost limit, and still have a way like, yeah, I can let it go, or Roy: Interesting. Christopher: Second star to the left. Two Kinga can sing second star to the left. And that's five cards. And aggro with drawing five cards. Is that still in rotation? I think it got reprinted in Fable. Hopefully it did. If not, we'll find yeah. second star to the left. Set four, set nine. Yes, it did come back. second star to the right. Wrong direction. Wrong star. But it's you know drawing five cards in an aggro deck. Roy: Yeah, okay. Christopher: with just exerting two characters, in my opinion better than under the sea. you don't have under the sea you won't yeah how else you just need to flesh out a little bit more aggro and I think that you could you could really burn through again you'll you'll lose lumpy which I've never seen lumpy in a in a poo match. and you'll lose Tigger which and Rabbit I don't think Rabbit does much. for if you're going pure aggro. It's nice to give someone the extra lore. You could probably keep it. Maybe maybe keep fours because I've noticed that even dogs, which you usually want to keep a curve for Three and less for the most part. they bit they've been adding in Mickey Mouse, which is a four cost, and they gave all of your Amber characters plus one toughness. Or willpower, plus one willpower, I think. So yeah. Who knows? Anyways. yeah. Che check that out. Second star to the right. it's unekable, but it's singed together, so multiple characters can sing it. With your cheap characters, that might might be a little little difficult, but If you had a cycle, that that'd be something I would add to this to to make it be able to keep it from being a dead card in your hand. Roy: Yeah. Okay. far as I understand, let me read this card. I just any numbered each chosen player draws five cards though. Second start to the right. CMC or not CMC, but sting together with 10 though. Okay. I could see that as a thing. Christopher: Yeah. But two Kingas, two King Kingas sing it together, you'd still be able to keep your let it goes. what else I could do can can still be possible. Yeah. I I I think I think it has some interesting possibilities. Roy: Yeah, but that leans a little bit too much on the sing mechanic though. The one thing I'm concerned about, if I if I'm having a card of that casting cost, I would actually want to start implementing some sort of ramp into it though. Which I s I'm starting to see like a lot of ramp cards might be rotating out, actually this this set drop. Christopher: True. True. Roy: Here's the thing that I've actually looked at at set releases though during my research though. I feel like the way these sets are designed is that they will go heavy on a theme 75%. And then for some reason in the next set they'll they'll from the remaining set, they'll have twenty-five percent more of the cards that supports that previous thing. one example of that is the you remember the robot sapphire deck I was building, right? And they're coming out with a couple more cards for that deck now. Christopher: Yes, yes I do. Yep. I think they're coming out with another one of the Omnibots too. Yeah. Roy: The big bot yeah, the big Omni the Omni one and and the smaller, medium sized one though. So that might actually be a deck here pretty soon. I don't know. So maybe we have to wait until another set in order to flesh out the whole honey thing, because there might be other cards that might be printed in the next set. Christopher: I mean th they have to do have some more things for that Illumineer's quest. There there's gotta be like some new something to to make that that more more viable or I guess more powerful other than and and at that point that give you get a really clear direction. Okay, should I go aggro, should I go control? But yeah, if it just get some more singers on the on that door. shift targets. I mean shifting is a great way to to sing something because, you know, you pay three cost but they're technically five cost and that's a that's a good way to sing up sing something. Roy: Interesting. I might start looking at singers that are core in Affinity. I'll check it out though. 'Cause that seems to be powerful in Affinity right now. Like the the Amber Steel deck, the Amber Steel song deck. So maybe I'll borrow some elements. Christopher: I'm surprised they don't run mob songs with like you have some a three cost singer seven now or well four cost singer seven definitely, you're always at, but and that that really easy to to get a a mob song off doing three damage to three things and that hits very well to those medium toughness creatures that that people are having problems with. Roy: Hm. Okay. You give me a lot to think about today. Christopher: Well, since we've thought about the Illumineer's quest, let's go ahead and open up a cold one and see what we get. I have my last winter spell pack that I've had floating around, so this is going to be hopefully the last one before next week we'll be opening some new Wild Unknowns again and s stock will will come back and I'll build Maybe pull something great there. Alright, in this set. I like it then unlike Pokemon cards where have to shuffle the cards. You can just pull straight from the beginning. Roy: Yeah. Christopher: So first we have a Nikoma. Negaduck. Snowball fight. Pua? Scrooge McDuck. Duckwing Duck. Roy: Rafiki's the door staff. Christopher: Rafiki Staff, yeah. Another Scrooge's Counting House. That's a fun set. Duckwings gas device. and for our first rare we have the the J Ghost of Christmas present. And our second one, we have a Mystic Inkcaster. Roy: Кати гас. Willie the Giant. Christopher: And for the shiny of the day, it's Nani's Payback. I have to say, Nani's Payback. Underrated card. It's just not the control that we need, but being able to do some damage control. Each opponent loses lore equal to a damage on a chosen character of yours. That's I think that's a great control card. Roy: Love it. Christopher: All right, Roy, what do you have? Roy: I got Wild's unknown. Okay. Christopher: that's a good stuff. Roy: Very hard to come by, especially nowadays. Yeah. And here we go. We got Windows Frog. Incredible. Christopher: Ready wind up frog. Roy: Which It's charming. Christopher: How charming. Roy: Sure. We got little Woody. Christopher: You can shift on to me. Roy: It was. Ranger team up. Christopher: Ooh Buzz Lightyear Yeah. Roy: Medium medium buzz. Okay. And jack jack. Christopher: Jack Jack, that's a good card. Roy: All right, and the foil is Christopher: The Rooster For those who have not seen Robin Hood, they would have no idea. Is that actually a Disney character? It's like, yeah, no, he was there in Robin Hood. Roy: Yes. Yeah. There you go. Christopher: Right. That is good. Speaking of good, I like to say that we did a good job solving this week's league night. We're ready for another round of games and another week of do of releases because we're coming to the very end of release season. I am Christopher. Roy: And I'm Roy. Christopher: Thank you very much for joining us this week and don't forget to like and subscribe. Roy: Like and subscribe.
