Lauren Ranzino: Do you know the shortest verse in the Bible? Jesus' Web. sickness had taken the life of a friend and he went It was right before he would perform a miracle, before he would raise this friend from the dead. But he saw the brokenness of the moment and he sobbed. I feel that the world is so broken. What's important to feel? We're not okay. This is not okay. So today on Wholly Uncertain, we take a beat. to rest and reflect for Good Friday. A day to remember the heartbreaking death of Jesus. A day meant to slow us down before we rush to the end of the story. We hold space for the things that break our hearts. There are so many. And we remember the words of Jesus, blessed are those who mourn. Let it be true that we will be comforted. We hold our personal tragedies. Lord, be near us. God, comfort us. We mourn the violence that we, humanity, are capable of. Lord, heal us. God, comfort us. And if Jesus weeping reminds us to grieve the brokenness of the world, then Jesus on the cross moves us to give our whole selves to it. to meet violence with peace, hate with love. So today we hold our grief, and today we get to work, giving our whole selves, uncertain of how it will turn out, but trusting that while today is not Easter, the risen Jesus reminds us this world's brokenness does not win.
