Matthew: Welcome, welcome back to the diecast podcast episode number 11. My name's Matt, MiniCarRealm and my cohost, BoiRacerBen. Ben, how are you, mate? BoyRacer: I'm good, Matt. How are you? Best man in Australia as one of the comments in the last podcast. ⁓ called you out. No, I think he was talking about you. ⁓ Matthew: I thought he was talking about you. ⁓ High praise, high praise. ⁓ I feel like we're missing someone this episode. It was really good having Lee on the episode last time. BoyRacer: It was, we're coming down from a high aren't we from the episode last week having Lee from My Diecast Life. Matthew: lot of a lot of fun. very but we love it. We love his very well articulated. certainly drove some good conversation in the comments, I reckon. BoyRacer: Yeah, definitely. So tonight I think everyone's just stuck with Mustang Camaro hating opinions and ⁓ kicking it off. We've seen ⁓ RLCs back into gear. We've kind of had a bit of a lull there since Christmas and New Year's. got a little bit to cover ⁓ this time, a of Hot Wheels and yeah, a bit of RLC. So it's good to dive back into RLC talk for now. Matthew: 100 % Yeah, yeah, yeah. It has felt like a bit of a dry spell. But they've hit us with the 2021 Pagani. Whyra? I think that's how you pronounce it. Whyra? Ah, which is a re-release. We've seen this before. What's your thoughts? BoyRacer: Yeah, I believe we've seen it in two colors previously. ⁓ It's got the removable rear end, if I'm not wrong. Yep. Yep. So yeah, I haven't actually looked too closely at this one. So I've got a couple of Pagani's in my collection, more premium brands. But did look at this one and I actually don't mind the color. It does look quite good. again, like usual, the price point is going to be a little bit higher for us here in Australia, probably looking around there. Matthew: Yes. button. Yep. BoyRacer: 90 Australian dollars. Having a few Pagani's already, ⁓ the Pagani Zonda from Pop Race. no for myself to be picking this one up. How about yourself? Matthew: Yeah, look, I picked up this one when it was first released in the year, you know, the original sort of carbon against gold look. And that was, that was really nice. I was pretty thrilled with that model. ⁓ Then brought it out in like a blue carbon. ⁓ And was, ⁓ I that one up as well. So I do have it twice. ⁓ I picked up a pretty nice custom that someone did of, of the RLC. ⁓ in a white, ⁓ with sort of racing numbers and stuff on it. ⁓ and that looked really good. I didn't pick this one up though. I think it's really, really nice. I just thought, I don't need a fourth. even though one of them is a custom, I felt like three, ⁓ three pretty covers it for me. but to be honest, I'll, know, like I, I really liked this casting, but I was a little bit disappointed because I feel like I've been hanging for an RLC to be dropped. Uh, and I feel like the last two drops of this particular casting were in pretty recent succession. Maybe I'll, you know, do you feel like that as well? I feel like it wasn't that long ago that we were getting, we just got the last two. BoyRacer: I feel like that's happening a bit these days. get one and then you get a recolor quite quickly. ⁓ I feel like it's just the RLC way at the moment. What's your thoughts on the engine? I haven't had a close at the engine detailing on these ones. Are you ⁓ impressed with the engine detailing is it a little bit, a little bit undefined? Matthew: Yeah. No, look, to be honest, I am pretty happy with it. It's a good RLC standard, put it that way. Certainly you start picking up some of more brands. You do get more detail, obviously. But for an RLC, I'm pretty happy with it. It's really quite nice. The only thing is now that we've been spoiled from brands like Pop Race and Motor Helix with magnetic pieces, having to slide this in and, and, know, click it in the right way to fit it back onto the back of the car is kind of annoying, but I think we've just been spoiled. BoyRacer: Yeah, I mean, and that's a good point. You look at Motor Helix and it's going to be pretty much a match on the price point with this RLC piece. And ⁓ the Motor Helix ones are incredible. So it is a hard one to buy a Hot Wheels. But guess, you know, the diehard Hot Wheels fans are going to pick it up. And I mean, that's what Hot Wheels is about, isn't it? Matthew: ⁓ hundred percent. And the diehard Pagani fans. I know a few guys that are massive Pagani fans and they will pick them all. Like it doesn't matter brand, you know, they'll grab them all. So would definitely be picked up by quite a few. And I agree with you on the color. ⁓ I do think the silver looks quite nice. In fact, if this wasn't the release, ⁓ I probably would have gone for this over the blue, be honest. it's, pass on it time, but I could see why they've, it. BoyRacer: Look, we both missed out on the teal blue Porsche RWB and it looks like we've got another one coming. A few people have probably seen the sneak peeks out there. It looks like we're in for a pink ⁓ RWB Porsche. I'm pretty sure it's, yeah. ⁓ Matthew: That is the word. That is the word. BoyRacer: there's a few sneak peek pictures floating about and one has the Hot Wheels branding all over it as well. So ⁓ I dare we're looking at a pink RLC, RWB Porsche. What's your thoughts on that? Matthew: I don't mind it. does look good. in the couple of photos that, I've seen floating around ⁓ the spectra flame pink against a white wheel. I think it looks quite good. don't mind that, that idea. ⁓ It's so hard though, man. Like we spoke about in the last episode to what's legit and what's not. saw another post that had, you know, nine different spectra flame colors on the, on the RWB and you know, and like, oh, which one's going to be, uh, and they all look like legit shots of the, of the RWB. I just thought, oh man, like so hard these days to like work out what's cause AI is just getting so good. Uh, it's hard to work out what's legitimate, what's not, but Hey, look, I really hope that is, it is legitimate. I'd certainly still like to pick one up. I don't have, a Hot Wheels RLC, RWB, uh, in any format. only RWBs I've got from Hot Wheels are the premium versions ⁓ a of those but I would like to still pick one of these up BoyRacer: Look, if it's going to be in pink, I don't love the pink. I really liked the teal blue and I'm not even going to bother going for the pink one. I don't like it enough. ⁓ Probably not going to get it anyway. So save myself any disappointment. But one thing I am going to call, I think we are going to see a chase, a chase variant in this RLC line. We haven't seen any chase. Matthew: Hmm what possible. BoyRacer: We haven't seen any chases yet except for the Porsche. Which Porsche was that? The ruthless Porsche, the 911. Matthew: Yeah, 9-11, yeah. Which has not been released yet. No, yeah, yeah, yeah. BoyRacer: hasn't been released yet. ⁓ I believe that Porsche will come before this RWB Porsche, but I'm calling it. And I think we'll see a chase variant for this RWB Porsche as well. Who knows what color the chase will be, but whether they all stay the same. Cause I think the Porsche was a silver chase, wasn't it? So whether just Chrome. So will we see a continued line of Chrome chases and that'll just be the standard. Matthew: Probably, yep. Yeah, just a Chrome. Yeah. BoyRacer: that's sort of the way that RLC goes with. Matthew: Yeah, it kind of makes sense. You'd have a colored spectra flame, of course is just colored chrome and then a ⁓ plain silver chrome. BoyRacer: Yeah, I think that's what we're looking at. I'm gonna go with that. Matthew: Hmm, interesting. That'll be interesting. BoyRacer: And they're obviously only going to do it in the boxes. They're not going to do it in the carded RLCs because you'll be able to see where they are. So I think they're obviously only going to do blind RLC chases, which is good. Matthew: course. Yeah, definitely. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Interesting. I guess we'll, we'll have to stay tuned for that. It will be interesting because definitely that Porsche, the root beer colored nine 11 is definitely the only one that they've, you know, announced so far as having a chase. so it'd be interesting to see what else they do, issue a chase on. it'll certainly make that RWB. I would think it would make it more popular with the, BoyRacer: Yeah. Matthew: option of getting a chase. Not an option, but a chance. BoyRacer: Yeah, I definitely think it's going to drive a little more hype, although I don't think the RWB needs any more hype behind it. ⁓ we've seen a few more sneak peeks of things coming for 2026 and a sneak for something coming in March, but something that we will see a little bit later on in the year. is another Subaru WRX, the 22B. Matthew: Yes, yeah, but they did one of those last year as well, didn't they? BoyRacer: Yeah, they did the standard obviously Rally Blue Spectra Flame. This one is in what looks like a non-Spectra Flame color, sort of like a dark gray gunmetal gold rims ⁓ and some highlights. ⁓ I actually it looks really good. I actually prefer this over the blue one and I've said it before, like when they did the Honda Integra's ⁓ and they doing the Spectra Flame colors. Matthew: Hmm. BoyRacer: I'm a big fan of the RLCs in non-spectra flame color. So this is really standing out for me. Matthew: Yeah, I agree with you. I think it works better on some cars than others. Like I think, you know, for example, the Nova, absolutely. Spectra flame all day. ⁓ But some of the JDM stuff, ⁓ non like the flame almost makes it look cheap. If that I don't know, like it doesn't it doesn't really work as much on the JDM stuff. I don't think you know, even the ⁓ I don't think the Spectra Flame worked that well in the Supra. Yeah, I don't know. For me, it doesn't work as well. Certainly muscle cars, hot rods, all that sort of stuff. Yeah, for sure. It's something that you're likely to see at a car show with a chrome paint or a loud paint job or those sorts of things. But the JDM stuff, yeah, I agree with you. think not having a Spectra Flame is nice. BoyRacer: Yeah, we've called it out before and it's good to see that, you know, the team at Hot Wheels HQ, they've been listening in and ⁓ they're delivering to what the people want. word on the street, 10th of March, we've got the AC Cobra coming out, the Shelby Cobra in ⁓ a classic red. doesn't look spectra flame either. This like just a plain ⁓ red with white stripes. Matthew: next time, Oli. It pretty nice, ⁓ I to say. It looks pretty nice. ⁓ One you cop. BoyRacer: This is a tough one for me because I really like it. really like the casting. it's a very similar casting to an older one we've seen ⁓ with an hood, but it has been redesigned. So it's even better. I'm not a hundred percent sold on the red. I do like it, but I feel like I'd only buy one and I'm almost tempted to wait for another release. I don't know what color I wanted in yet. I think it would look really good in black or even a blue colour. Matthew: I was going to say blue, blue. I quite like the red, but I'm pretty partial to a red. like a red. the blue would be another color that I would go for. I don't know about black. ⁓ Like you think you're black with a white stripe or? BoyRacer: Yeah, well, yeah, we both know I like a black and I actually think Spectra flame would look good on this one as well. So maybe we'll see Spectra flame next. but look, we've got a bit of time till the 10th of March, ⁓ so wait and see. This one is a really nice casting, though. It looks like the engine detailing could be really good. I've seen the interior. The interior looks great. The chrome pipes out the side look really good. So, yeah, Matthew: Mm. Hmm. BoyRacer: I may not be able to be able to hold out so come the 10th of March we'll find out. Matthew: see what happens. Yeah, yeah, see what happens. I'll be pretty tempted. I won't lie. I'll be pretty with that one. still on the RLC front. There's obviously a whole ⁓ lot of voting going on with the selections ⁓ series. Have you been keeping tabs on BoyRacer: There's been a bit of voting going on over here. I don't think there's been any voting going on from your end. ⁓ I actually missed the colour vote. ⁓ So I believe everyone got to vote on the colour. I don't know the three other colours that were available. I actually missed that one somehow. Matthew: You're absolutely right. Okay. So what card do we get first? BoyRacer: So obviously we got the Chevy Nova SS. Matthew: Okay, all right. Yep. So that one got through because I haven't seen any of the updates. So we got the Chevy Nova and then what color did we get? BoyRacer: We got the Chevy Nova SS. ⁓ We've got a light blue. looks like I dare say it's going to be a spectra flame, but a light spectra flame blue with what looks like, well, there's a few different options, but so we've got the blue. I don't know what other colors were up. I'd be very interested to find out what other colors there were. I'm guessing you're not a hundred percent sure since you haven't been following. Matthew: Okay. Hmm. No, I don't... No, I don't know. BoyRacer: But there has been a change to this RLC selection. So something we haven't seen before. Generally you choose the car, you choose the color and then you choose the wheels. But because this Chevy Nova was custom made, ⁓ and the wheels custom for the car, they don't have ⁓ a selection of different for the car. Matthew: Yes. Wrong. BoyRacer: So instead of doing wheels, because we're stuck with the original wheels, which I'm very happy about because the wheels are incredible, we were actually, I believe for the first time, given a vote on the type of livery we'd like to see on the car. So the car is blue and you got to vote on whether you went for the stock SS colours, just with the stripes down the bonnet and white roof. Matthew: Not mad, I was gonna say not mad about that. Yep. Okay. BoyRacer: You got to vote for a pro stock version, which has kind of racing decals down the side. You got to vote for flames. You can have flames down the side, or you could vote for pro street, which was a plain looking car with a funky kind of just pattern down the side. ⁓ Pro stock you're calling it. Matthew: Pro stock. Yeah, that's, that's what I'll be, that's what I would be going for if I was voting. I'm imagining a very similar look and feel to the, the, ⁓ tell a dagger, the Torino. BoyRacer: Look, I voted today and by the time the podcast comes out, I'm sure we'll all know what we're getting. But the time of voting, I voted for the standard SS Chevy look. And when I voted, that came in at thirty one point seven percent and the pro stock came in at thirty two point four nine percent. So we're looking less than one percent at the moment. Matthew: Okay, okay. Wrong. Ho ho ho! Naked neck! BoyRacer: ⁓ between the two. It's a tough one because Matthew: But clearly more people think like I do, know, ⁓ superior. BoyRacer: Yeah, look, the reasoning behind it, the stock SS does look a lot better, but we have just seen the stock SS in Spectraflame Purple. So do we need another blue one? Maybe the Pro Street would be better. So we've got no white stripes on the Pro Street and we've got what looks like an Aquanova livery down the side in wording, which I don't really like, Aquanova, which is probably what turned me off the... ⁓ Matthew: Okay. BoyRacer: Pro Street, but it has got some cool other decals down the side. ⁓ Matthew: Is it aqua Nova because the colors like an Aqua blue and it's a Nova. Yeah. Where's the Aqua Nova thing come from. BoyRacer: Yeah, think, yeah, yeah, I'd probably Hot Wheels Marketing hitting up chat GBT for some ideas or something like that. Who knows, but sure. Matthew: Surely not surely not it's a whole design team there BoyRacer: But anyway, neck and neck, I really do like the stock ⁓ Chevy SS color. But you know, we have just seen it. So I will accept a pro stock look after that. Matthew: Hey, look, I'm sure that I mean, this thing's been quite popular. And not just with you and I, this is certainly been a pretty warm reception to the Nova. So I'm sure that ultimately we might see all four at some point or another in future, maybe not this year, but in future years, I'm sure that we'll see all of the, the variations of the, of the Nova. Everyone will get their, their version. BoyRacer: Yeah, yeah we're definitely getting another Chevy Nova regardless, not just the selections. So yeah, I guess I need to chill out a bit don't I? Matthew: Moving on from RLC and just going down a little bit there at Hot Wheels to the next line down, suppose you'd say it's the next line down. Elite64. Now, you know I like my Elite64s. We spoke about the Mod Shop Jeep in the last episode. I've been collecting all the numbered versions. ⁓ So the ones that come out cards ⁓ that are numbered. And the Ferrari P4. was number 20. So you'd think that the next number that we should see in theory should be 21. Not that they actually have been released in that order mind you, but nonetheless, you'd think that'd be the next number we'd see. Now you're telling me that there has been some sneak peaks of a 21. I haven't seen these sneak peaks other than what you've told me. What's the news that you've heard? BoyRacer: Look, the news is it's a pretty disappointing time to be a Elite64 collector if you're collecting all the numbers, that's for sure. for the first time, it looks like we are getting a repeat casting with a color change. I mean... Common sense, you'd think it was coming, but we didn't know. I'm sorry. I don't think anyone saw it coming. It only makes sense because you can't create one casting and just do it once because Hot Wheels Mattel being corporate machine they are, they need to make their money out of that casting. And this is the first color release ⁓ variation we've seen in the Elite four. And we have got the LB. ⁓ Matthew: I certainly didn't. BoyRacer: Lamborghini Aventador in a in a green color. It kind of looks like a bit of a sort of army, army green sort of look, maybe slightly metallic as well. What's your thoughts? You're to keep collecting the numbers. You're just going to get suck it in and buy every number and every color release. Or is it time to stop? Is 20 where it finally ends? Common sense prevails. me once, fool me twice, fool me 20 times. Matthew: Hmm. Hehehehehe Well, look, Ben, you know, look, I won't lie. I think I even said to you when you told me I said, what, you know, ⁓ duplicate casting already, we've only had 20 releases. ⁓ But you're right. You you the common sense of, you know, they've created a casting, it's got removable pieces and all this extra detail. Surely they need to get their money out of it. ⁓ That does prevail. And I fully understand that get BoyRacer: Yeah. Matthew: that makes sense. must admit though, it had not occurred to me until this, you know, until you told me about this, thought, ⁓ I never even thought about there being re-releases of the Elite Six fours. kind of thought that it would be a little bit like, you know, the Boulevard series where, yeah, yeah, there's been some re-releases, but you know, a hundred cars down the track. but they're also able to release those same premiums in other sets and whatever else. So it's different, I guess. The Elite 64 is very different from a premium. There is a lot more detail that they're packing into these things. So I kind of get it. Look, I am a Liberty Walk fan, so I'll probably get this one, but I don't know whether I'll necessarily get every re-release if they continue down this path of, you know, re-releasing colors every 20 cars. Mind you, I wouldn't mind seeing the chaser for example in a different color way. But anyway, we'll see what happens. BoyRacer: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I don't think I didn't see it coming, but when I did say it, it just made total sense. Talking about re-releasing and we're going back to the premium line here. We've got a new set, the Vintage Racing. I don't think we've seen any vintage racing sets before, have we? Matthew: No, it's the first, well, it's the first I've seen of it. BoyRacer: Yeah, so we've got a Lancia Stratus, we've got a Porsche 917k, a Jaguar XJS, a 76 Greenwood Corvette, and we've also got the second release of the Ferrari 250 GTO, one of my favorites. And of course, continuing on. Matthew: Yes. Mmm. BoyRacer: the vintage racing car culture, we've got another gold chase, which is the R32. And I'm not disappointed. I'm not disappointed this time because I've got R32s in my collection and I like those more than I like the gold. So yeah, no FOMO here. Matthew: Yes! No foam over for the entire set. BoyRacer: Look, I'll definitely need that Ferrari 250 GTO. Do I love the white? Nowhere near as much as I love the classic red, but I definitely 100 % need the 250 GTO in white and it's got a nice racing number on the side of course to top it off. But that is the only one I'll be picking up from that set. How about yourself? Matthew: Yes. Okay. Yep. Yep. I, you know that I like a racing livery. So I was pretty pleased with this one. Only car that I was not that keen on is the Porsche 917 K. I love a Porsche 917 K. Don't get me wrong, but we've seen it so many times in a golf livery. Um, so I was a little bit like, it would have been good to see it in something other than a golf livery. we've seen a lot of Lancia Stratas's, BoyRacer: You do. Okay. Matthew: I feel like of late, but I mind it. looks like a ⁓ martini racing sort livery from what I could see of it. Look, I wasn't mad about it. I quite liked the, Jaguar XJS. ⁓ I thought that ⁓ something different. So I don't have that it was enough between Jaguar, the Ferrari and the Corvette. ⁓ even though I'm not a huge Corvette fan, I quite liked that casting. It's another casting I don't have. ⁓ so between those three, it was enough for me to go, right. I'll pull the trigger on a, on a full set. wasn't disappointed with it. same conversation we've had every time, you we've had a release this year. ⁓ I won't be mad if I don't see the chase. but I did try my luck. ⁓ We'll see what happens. BoyRacer: you got a case for the chase. Matthew: Got a case for the chase. And if I was going to get any, any chase this year, I'll probably be most happy if I pick up that 32. BoyRacer: Okay, copy. Matthew: Yeah, I just, I like it. I don't know why. ⁓ but yeah, I like it probably more than the other chases that we've seen so far personally. BoyRacer: Since you've got a case, I know where I'll be getting my 250 GTO from now. Matthew: Absolutely, mate. Absolutely. I'll send one over. I'll send one over. That's that's if that's not the one that gets left out because if I do get the chase. BoyRacer: ⁓ look, that's about it. ⁓ That would be, yeah, would be disappointing for sure, yeah. Matthew: Absolutely, BoyRacer: on from Hot Wheels. Let's get to a few more of the premium brands now and Mini GT we've seen another release of three cars this time, not six, just taking it easy ⁓ rolling in from Chinese Year. A little bit slower, a of electric cars ⁓ right up your alley. What we got? Matthew: Mmm. Mate, we've seen a re-release ⁓ of three cars, all Hyundai's. We've got the Kona, which has been released before. I don't know if it's been released in the black though. like an N version with the red highlights ⁓ the kit and things like that. ⁓ got the ⁓ Now this one looks ⁓ identical to the release that we've seen before. and of course the concept and vision. Now I've picked up the first release of the concept and vision and the RN 22E. I don't have a Kona. And these look exactly the same, but ⁓ a Keen Mini GT punter did point out that these are slightly different. They've improved a few lines and a few bits and pieces. And I will say that the original ones that I got, I don't know if it was some sort of deal that mini GT had with Hyundai or whatever, but the boxes are very different to, you know, your typical mini GT box. whereas I believe these are a different number. So they are a different cards, not just a re-release in a different box. but these will be a normal mini GT boxes. not something that I'll pick up again. and look, the only reason I bought them to begin with is I do quite like the Hyundai concept and vision. I just think it's a cool styling for a Hyundai, personally. ⁓ Not a huge fan of the yellow electric car thing either, but I think that car looks cool. BoyRacer: Yeah, I will admit the concept, the concept and vision, it does look cool, but there's no place in my collection for it. So I did have to think twice about it and then common sense prevailed and there is absolutely no place in the collection for ⁓ a Hyundai concept and vision. So just doesn't fit in. Matthew: Fair enough. Nah, that's look, that's fair. That's fair. My favorite thing about that concept and vision just on a side note is how crazy ⁓ all these designers and that went with the different renderings of what it could look like if it was a petrol car and you know, very JDM inspired, et cetera. There was some cool renderings that people did with different liveries and things like that. anyway, look for Hyundai, If I was ever getting an electric car, that'd probably be something that I would think about, but that's probably the closest I'd get to it. ⁓ BoyRacer: Yeah nice. I do actually like the wheels. I like the wheels. They look futuristic. The car looks futuristic with a hint of like an 80s vibe almost doesn't it? Matthew: Yeah, yeah, it gives you to Yeah, for to me, it's like a, it's a mix between a 180 sx and a DeLorean. BoyRacer: Yes. And a AE86 in the rear, in the rear quarter window. Matthew: That's, I don't know why, but that's what it looks like to me. Yeah. Yep. Yep. Yeah, I can see that. Yeah. Anyway, look, I don't mind. I don't mind when brands take some of the the best of the past and build it into something new. Just a pity it's electric. BoyRacer: Look last week on the show I slammed BBR. I gave them a bit of a backhand. Look have they redeemed themselves with this latest release of 3? What do you think? Matthew: You did. Very rude. Very rude. Well, mate, I have, you know, I'm probably the wrong person to ask because I love him and I would have loved him regardless. But what do you think? BoyRacer: Look, we've got the 1987 Ferrari Testarossa We've got the Ferrari 296 GTB, the 296 special. speciality. Thank you. Yeah, look, I'm not vibing the 296 GTB. Just looks off. Just looks completely off. And the Speciale could be elevated in a red color, but yeah, I'm not vibing that dark sort of blacky gray color. The Testa Rosa, I am on the fence about that one. I'm going to see a few close looks. I need to see a few pictures of it. Matthew: Nah, I didn't expect you to, yeah. Okay, okay. BoyRacer: close up. ⁓ Yeah, I'm on the fence there. I'm not loving it, so I'm probably probably should just leave it, shouldn't I? So zero from three from BBR for me. Matthew: Well, I think when we spoke last week, cause I thought you might be half keen on the Testerosa. I knew you wouldn't be keen on the other two, but I thought, you know, you might, we might win you over here with a Testerosa. Cause your primary complaint was that, you know, I would expect for the money that I at least get break calipers, right? I'd look to valid. It's a valid point. I did actually go and have a look afterwards as well, because I also have the eight 12 that we spoke about last, last episode. BoyRacer: Yes. Matthew: ⁓ from a brand called thrill of collector, TOC. It's very, similar looking at the casting. You'd almost think somebody's ripped somebody off here, ⁓ but they do have break calipers, very similar price point too. So I that was interesting, but I never noticed that before. But anyway, with the 87 Ferrari Tester also, I thought, you know what, you might not be fussed about break calipers on the Tester also, because you would never see them anyway. because it is quite a closed wheel. But look, for me, I love ⁓ my Ferrari's as you know, ⁓ Rossi Corso, Ferrari Testa Rossi, yeah, love it, love it. Like tan interior, could not be better. So it'll definitely be, I can say it definitely be picking that one up, but I've pre-ordered all three, who's kidding who. ⁓ Love the speciale as well. ⁓ you know, I ⁓ love red, ⁓ but yeah, it's nice to have a few different colors, the stripes and the, the, numbers on that speciale are cool. And the two nine six GDB, I've got all of them. I've got probably six or seven of these two nine six GDBs in all different colors that Ferrari did. I like this one the most I would say so far only because this livery is a real livery that was done on a real Ferrari two nine six GDB. It was a tribute to Michael Schumacher's F 2004. And there was only like three of them done or something. They were all sold to buyers in Hong Kong, Hong Kong, something like that. Yeah. They were all sold into one country, but there was a tribute to the F 2004, which I loved that racing era in Formula One, the Schumacher era. So anyway, that's why it's significant to me. But anyway. Yeah, I thought it was a great release. BoyRacer: Yep, you didn't you did not twist my arm on the 296 just then but I know you love a story behind the car and look I am starting to reconsider the Testerosa is a classic Ferrari ⁓ You know it very good in black as well would have liked to have seen it in black. We probably will see it in black ⁓ So I will take a closer look I've got a Testerosa in another brand an Aliexpress brand obviously unlicensed. It's very nice Matthew: I do, I do. Yeah, you will see it black, definitely. BoyRacer: ⁓ I'll be examining it. Yeah, I'll be examining it with a microscope. the same way that I have gone over the four latest releases from Kato House with a fine... what's the saying? A toothed comb. Yes, I've had a good look at the latest Kato release of four. Matthew: So you can sleep better at night, think you should get the licensed version. I'm sure you will. I'm sure you will. fine tooth comb. BoyRacer: and I'll let you tell us all about him since Cato was your little baby. Matthew: All right, I'll tell you all about them. Well, we spoke about the R32 on the last episode. We had a few glimpses of the, Resin clay casting, but we finally got a release. And ⁓ look, I feel like might've tuned in perhaps to our last episode. ⁓ I would have felt way if we didn't. If this didn't get announced actually just prior to our episode getting released, but Lee did say on that episode Look could just be good if Kaido when they got a new casting just do a plain color first You know, we don't want a racing livery just do a plain color and then move on to the racing liveries Well, that's exactly what they've done here with the r32 They have brought it out in a nice burgundy color. This is fully expected if you're a Kaido fan you would have fully expected to see this in a burgundy because that is Junamize R32. It is exactly like that in that exact same color ⁓ and the body kit and everything looks exactly like his one of one 32. So a homage to his own personal vehicle. ⁓ I'll definitely picking that up. I really liked this, this casting. moving on to the The others are all castings we've seen before. We've got the, the Fairlady Z. It's been a little while since we've seen a Fairlady Z, but this one is out as another collaboration with Tamiya ⁓ the RC ⁓ brand. ⁓ And this one is the ⁓ frog. I believe they, they call it. I'm not familiar with this one as I have been with, know, the club Buster and the Hornet and ones like that, ⁓ grasshopper. so I'm not familiar with the frog, I'm not a huge, I went professional to be a huge RC fan. So that's probably why, ⁓ but it's cool. ⁓ then we've got the Coyote house NSX. This has got, like a race sort of livery on it, big high wing, which we've seen prior as well on a couple of castings. Uh, but, very Malboro, racing type livery, certainly give me Malboro vibes, just the colors, you know, white and red. and then we have an Advan, BMW E30, which, you know, he's done most of his other castings in an Advan at some point or another. So it was only, uh, it was only a matter of time before we saw an Advan version of the E30. Um, so I know all of our, all of the Kaido BMW fans will be. running out to pick that up. And I am happy to see that the advent version of the 30 has the BBS wheels all around without the fans, which I thought was cool. I don't mind the fans on some versions, I just, yeah, sometimes I don't like the fans, but anyway, I this release. ⁓ I know sort of ⁓ banged on not locking the previous release. which I have to be honest here, Ben, ⁓ I did have thoughts around, well, seeing as I like all four of these, should I go back and buy the last board? Just so I don't have a cap in the collection. But I haven't done that yet. We'll see. I know, I know I'm bad. I'm bad. But anyway, I must admit it did cross my mind. What are your thoughts, mate? I ⁓ know you're not a huge Kano House fan. You've made that very clear on this podcast. BoyRacer: Hey, that's that I am a Kato fan when they're done right. Yeah, we're to move to the 32 last. We'll start with the we'll start with the NSX. So I had an NSX in my collection and I called it got rid of it because it is a terrible, not the greatest casting. Don't like it. Personal opinion. Matthew: Well, what did you think of the 32? I'm keen to hear your thoughts on the 32. Okay, alright. Alright. BoyRacer: We'll move on to the BMW, the Advan. ⁓ Probably my favourite BMW yet from Cato House. I know we've seen a plain one in Marrone. I don't want a Marrone BMW. I don't know whether I'll pick this one up. I don't it. But just please just give us a plain white BMW. That's all we ask for. We just want a plain white A30 BMW mate. ⁓ Matthew: Okay. Okay. explain what. I'll pick it up. Yeah, I'll pick it up. BoyRacer: Maybe with, you know, couple of very small decals similar to how they did the 510 Datsun with the G-Ready, G-Ready on the side or the Nismo on the side. Just very something, very plain. Matthew: ⁓ yeah? Yeah. Yeah, I'm done. Yeah, that's That sounds nice. Yep. BoyRacer: I like the... I actually really like the white over pink on the Fair Lady Z and actually I really like the livery. like the yellow lights however I really dislike the casting and what I dislike the most about the casting is those side skirts. It's like you know 1930s, 40s gangster where they can stand on the side and shoot the machine guns at the same time it's that big. Matthew: Okay. Yeah. You know what? I really thought you were going to, mean, I know, I know you don't not a fan of the Fairlady said you've told me before casting was, but I really thought you were going to really lay in the boot on that livery. But I'm surprised to hear you like it, but BoyRacer: Actually, yeah, I think it, think it, yeah, I've been critical on the liveries, but I think this one, works. I actually think it works. ⁓ No, I do. I like it. Matthew: I agree. I agree. I just didn't think you would like it because you don't typically have any taste when it comes to this sort of stuff. So that brings us to the 32. Come on, come on. BoyRacer: Yeah, yeah, that's right. Look, yeah, the 32. Look, obviously we all know why it's done in the maroon color. I don't mind the maroon color. I don't love it. What I dislike about this casting is that rear spoiler diffuser on the back. is huge and somewhat semi-hideous. Yeah, I think the closer I zoom into it, the worse it gets. Which is a shame, the only thing I can hope for is that they create two variations of this casting, which they quite often do do, and they cull that rear diffuser and make it a little more standard. ⁓ I don't know if I can pick an R32 up with that diffuser on the back unless I can display it forwards and you just don't see the diffuser. And I love a 32. which is the worst thing about it because I want to like it. like everything else about it. It is the side skirts actually look too bad. It doesn't look too wide. Matthew: Mmm. front bars really nice. I do, I do see what you're saying about the diffuser though. BoyRacer: and it's only from certain angles that it looks bad. Matthew: Yeah, there's certain angles that I go. Yeah, I see what you're saying. I see what you're saying. Like that angle where you can just see it sticking out from the corner. And it looks almost like it's a, you know, yeah. Yeah, I do see what you're saying there. I'll pick it up because I still I still like it. But yeah, I think yeah, maybe if they went a bit smaller on that diffuser, probably BoyRacer: Yeah, that's not bad. Yeah, so all we can hope for is there's a second variation, which they quite often do for Kato. So who knows, maybe they drop the rear diffuser and just put a bit of a wide body rear bumper on the back and it could look perfect and I'll be all. Matthew: I'm sure there will be. Yeah, I'm sure there will be. Yeah, yeah, nice. All right. Nah, look, I'm, yeah, I think that's... BoyRacer: On a side note, do know what I love about an R32 Skyline? The Skyline wording on the rear is indented into the car, obviously. I think you know that. It's hard to see from the pictures. Is that printed on or is it indented in? Because not many castings actually indent the Skyline in, they print it on the back. Matthew: Yep. Yes. Yeah. indent them. BoyRacer: And it is such a nice feature on a 164 car for them to get the skyline indented in. And ⁓ one example I've done a reel on it on the focal horizon, they indented in and it looks perfect. So time will tell, have they impressed me or have they let me down? Because it's hard to tell from the photo. It looks like. Matthew: Look, I feel like that's a pretty unique detail. ⁓ You know, that yeah, a lot of people would not think twice about just doing a sticker, you know, because the effort it would be to etch it in. But look, knowing Junamai, who ⁓ creates ⁓ I dare say that, you know, he's probably done the indented lettering, I would say. ⁓ BoyRacer: I actually believe that Mini GT's version that they've just released with the mini figure and obviously the follow-up just the standard grey one I believe that it is indented on the Mini GT as well so hopefully it is done on the... it does for sure. Matthew: gives you a greater chance for sure. Absolutely. ⁓ yeah. Good. Good. I'm glad it wasn't all ⁓ absolute hate and, you know, despising and abuse like it usually is when we talk about Kido. BoyRacer: Good. Look, like I said, I don't hate Kato House. I'm just critical. You know, I did a reel. I actually I really like the AE86. I just got the Initial D, you know, Panda style AE86. I did a reel on it. You would have seen it. I actually really like it. It's just those those guards over the fenders are just that tiny bit too wide. I know it's the Kato style, but it just annoys the Matthew: Hard to believe. I did. I'm glad you, I'm glad you brought this up, right? Because I, I thought the same thing when I popped the headlights, I went, oh, painted. And you pointed that out in your video. And I was like, good observation, Ben. Uh, but I did, I must admit, I thought the same thing. I don't, I don't get the wide thing because I know you like the pop race hacko and that's got to me. It's the same thing. But the great big wide vendors. I know one's, know, a general creation. That's not a real thing in the background. One's a real car, but to me it's the same. No. BoyRacer: It's a little bit different. The guards are a bit finer on the Pop Race. The Pop Race does follow a real car. It is a real Pan and body kit. ⁓ It's not a chunky. just it it they look it looks right. All I can say that may not make a lot of sense to you. It looks right on the Pop Race Haka Suka. It doesn't look it doesn't even look bad on the Kato House Haka Suka either. But on the Honda Civic, the EF and on the AE86. It's just, it's too much for me. They've just gone that little bit too far. And obviously those, yeah, that are feel 80s where, you know, the gangsters can stand on the side and pretty much get a free ride wherever they're going is it's way too much on that as well. Matthew: Yeah. All right. All right. No, look, you know, I, I must admit, look, if I was designing it, I wouldn't have gone quite as wide. So I do understand what you're saying, but then I feel like I could probably say the same thing about the HACO. Like, you know, both are very wide and I, yeah, I, I do understand what you're saying as far as the HACO is different because I think that wide style suits the body of the HACO a little bit better. regardless of who makes it and whatever else. ⁓ look, I, yeah, fundamentally, I agree with what you're saying as far as it is very wide, but I don't, I don't hate it. It's true. Yeah, true, true, All right. No, we'll run with that. No, look, I agree. I got this. I got the A86 as well. ⁓ And I, I really liked it. I thought it was really nice, but I, you know, BoyRacer: Fundamentals, that's all that matters. Matthew: by AE86s in pretty much all brands, because I do like them. BoyRacer: Look, and you know, the fact that the guards are so wide, but I do really like that car that's gone into my probably top two or three Kato's now. But I won't be picking up another example of the Kato because they just nailed it there with, you know, the Panda, Initial D, black and white. And yeah, they're not going to do another one as good. And I won't be picking up another Kato house AE86. That's it. AE86 is done for me for Kato. So yeah. Matthew: No, fair enough. Hey, I know it's slightly off subject here and we're not, we're not up to talking about tarmac, but it's talking of the initial D, you know, Panda look. How good was that Mercedes at Bathurst 12 hour in that initial delivery. BoyRacer: Yeah, so the Bathurst 1000, a famous race here in Australia. Tarmac Works had a car racing there, a Mercedes AMG GT3. Yeah. Matthew: Yeah, yep. Sponsored by Tarmac, I think designed by Tarmac. BoyRacer: Yeah, in the initial delivery and that thing looked incredible and all we can hope for is that Tarmac Works release that car in 164 which you'd have to assume they would. Matthew: have you have yeah, surely, surely. And the car did really, really well right up until it absolutely got obliterated on the on the back corners there. But he was leading the race most of the way. BoyRacer: Yeah, yeah, unlucky as well because, that's, I can't remember what they call that bend, but it's quite a dangerous bend. It's a notorious bend on the track and there was no avoiding that crash. came flying around the corner and there was a car sitting right in front of it. So yeah, that was bad. Matthew: super unlucky. I mean, I know exactly how those drivers felt because I do that back bend on GT seven all the time. And you know, sketchy, sketchy. No, I have no idea what those drivers felt. I'm just glad that they all walked away. Okay. I believe he had some, back issues and ended up in hospital, but he's alive. So yeah, very big, big impact. But anyway, yeah, just a side note there. When you're talking about that, I was like, Oh, gotta bring up that. ⁓ mate outside of, ⁓ the mini GT Cato house family, ⁓ we have, ⁓ we usually talk about pop race, but we haven't seen anything from pop race yet, but something that did catch my eye from the pop race family, could say, ⁓ ex car toys have a new car scene that I haven't seen before. if you have, ⁓ the Pegasus three, our Audi a three rally. So, you know, a white color. ⁓ with a rally style livery, big rally wing on the back of it. And it has the pop-up magnetic bonnet, similar to what we've seen with the AE86 and a few other pop race slash X car toys castings. What's your mate? What's your thoughts? Personally, I thought this was a banger. I really liked it. BoyRacer: Yeah, ⁓ the only thing I didn't like about it was the wings a little bit chunky but like overall the car is actually really cool and I've said it before you know Pop Race and Xcar Toys have a collaboration I'm almost questioning whether they're coming out of the same factory these days because yeah there are a lot of similarities with you know engine detailing and magnetic removable pieces and opening hoods and ⁓ yeah Xcar Toys, was a big fan of Xcar Toys and ⁓ you know for me they're just getting better and better and yeah I think this thing looks great I'll be picking this one up for sure. Matthew: Yeah. mean, look, I agree with you on the wing. ⁓ but then I also thought, well, yeah, a lot of the rally hatchback, ⁓ cars, you know, it reminds me of the Ken Block, ⁓ focuses or their focuses or fiestas or whatever, whatever they were. ⁓ they had great big rally style, thick, wings on the back sort of thing. So, ⁓ you know, it fits the mold for a rally car. ⁓ but yeah, my understanding of the whole pop raise X car toys, and this is just, you know, pure ignorance of not knowing any better, but. My understanding of it was that the X car toys was really just, it was pop race, but branded for the Chinese market. Whereas pop race was, you know, the same, you know, from the same factory, but more the, I guess the branding for the Western market type thing. ⁓ But yeah, that's just pure speculation from my, no one's told me that or anything like that. It's just, yeah. But you're right. They're very, very similar. BoyRacer: Yes. So Poprace and X-Car Toys traditionally two very separate brands, different factories. I believe it was a deal, a bit of a collaboration to help X-Car Toys get into the market and for Poprace to get into the Chinese market. So essentially Poprace cars were just rebranded as X-Car Toys in China and same other way around. Poprace have used X-Car Toy castings and Matthew: WAH Okay. BoyRacer: rebranded them in pop race boxes to sell to the, guess, you know, more Western outside of China markets. So I believe, you know, their probably relationship has grown over time and they could be at the point now that they're, you know, designers, they're sharing designers and sharing, you know, potentially the factories as well. ⁓ But yeah, I mean, the finer details we'll probably never know, but there are a lot of similarities with these kinds of castings now. So I dare say their relationships grown. Matthew: Yeah. Yeah. BoyRacer: grown and yeah, there's potentially, you know, collaborations going on with the two of them. Matthew: There you go. Well, yeah, I'll be keen to, uh, obviously, you know, we don't often see outside of the Aliexpresses and places like that. We don't often see X car toys at a lot of our, you know, typical retailers that we shop at. Uh, so yeah, I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open for this one. I'm sure you'll do that for me. Uh, as you scour those, uh, you know, those deep dark parts of the internet that you go just Aliexpress, but yeah, it's just. Not a place I go often. But yeah, I'd be keen to get my hands on it if it's a half decent price. And I believe it is a replica of a real rally car, is just my understanding. BoyRacer: You'd have to think so, yeah. Matthew: Hmm. My moving on to tarmac works. We've had another whole swag of cars come through from tarmac works, which we're getting quite used to seeing now. Um, I'll quickly run through them. So we had a Pagani utopia. Uh, I think we've seen a few of those from tarmac so far. Uh, we had a Pagani Zonda, uh, and this one is in the typical carbon against gold look that we've seen, you know, the classic Pagani Zonda R. look unclear or at least I haven't seen more photos but unclear of whether there's any moving parts on this look we've seen with the likes of pop race and things like that. No, you don't think so. So yeah, look, it looks like half decent casting but but he's got some stiff competition on that casting for sure. Porsche 959 in a silver color. We also saw an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera. I haven't seen a Superleggera from a lot of brands, but that one's in a nice sort of copper, bronzy sort of color. An interesting one that I thought was a, we've got a collaboration with a brand called GRS. And this one is a Volkswagen T3 van. And it's got a, it looks like it looks like it's done up as like a prison van. I if it's a prison van or a news van or something along those lines, but it looks very, I want to say 60s. Would you agree? BoyRacer: Yeah, it's definitely not a prison van. It's a I think it's just some sort of special livery. It's got some Chinese writing on the side. Rediscover our golden era together. We will rise again. That's what it says on the side. Yeah. No. Matthew: Okay. Yeah. So definitely not a prison van then. I don't know why I thought it was a prison van, but anyway, that's what it looked like to me. Uh, but anyway, yeah. So that was, that was interesting casting. Uh, look, I can't say I'd be running out to go grab it, but I just sort of did catch my eye. Uh, they've done a Toyota Celica in there. They've got sort of a side collection called the J collection. There's a lot of JDM, especially old school JDM cars. So this is a Toyota Celica, uh, 1600 GT. ⁓ this one is, ⁓ in an orange color. ⁓ so old school Celica, ⁓ another John Siebel collaboration. So John Siebel design works. ⁓ this one is a Toyota GR Corolla wide body. So we've seen the R32 from with John Siebel tarmac works collab. ⁓ we also saw the fair lady and the, ⁓ what else do we see? saw something else. ⁓ the AE86 as well. Um, so, uh, yeah, another wide body creation there, uh, this time the GR Corolla, uh, we've also seen the Honda, uh, Ballard, uh, Mugen, CRX pro, uh, this one in a red, red color. And then, uh, finally we've got a, uh, GR 86 Toyota GR 86 in a HKS livery. Uh, anything that caught your eye, mate? BoyRacer: Not too much. I like the idea of a wide body Corolla. I wouldn't mind checking out a bit closer. Maybe not in that kind of a different colored. Yeah, kind of it looks like lightning stripes like down the side, blue, orange, red, a bit of rainbow colors going on. Yeah. So probably not for that reason. Yeah, you're right with the Honda Pagani. Sorry, the Pagani Zonda R. Matthew: It's a wild livery, isn't it? Yeah, graffiti style lightning strikes, yeah. BoyRacer: Full carbon, yep, it's got a bit of stiff competition from Motohelix and Pop Race with removable pieces. You'll probably pick up the Pop Race one cheaper with removable front and rear end, so it's a no-brainer there. The only thing that has caught my eye, and I know it's been released in white, the Honda CRX, I believe that model is sort of late 80s, 88, 89, always had a little bit of a... Matthew: Hmm. Hmm. Yeah, something like that. Yep. BoyRacer: little bit of a soft spot. So just going back to, you know, cars that, you know, remind you of your childhood, seeing them around. And I used think they were quite cool when I used to see him driving around when I was a bit younger. I wouldn't mind picking one of those up at some point. I don't know if I want the red, but I think the CRX, the 80s CRX is a pretty cool little car. That's about it. Matthew: Yeah, okay. I have no attachment, no attachment to the CRX at all, to be honest. But then again, I have similar feelings with the Salika. ⁓ You know, it's the same sort of concept, I suppose, where you've seen them around as a kid or people you know, your dad's friends had them and stuff like that, you know. BoyRacer: Has question has anyone ever made talking about cars that you know bring back memories a car always liked I don't think I've ever seen a diecast one. I'm probably wrong a Ford Ford Laser TX3 4WD Turbo. ⁓ Matthew: I don't know. We've definitely seen like the Sierras and stuff like that, but I don't think we have seen a laser TX3. That is a classic. Good call. Good call. BoyRacer: A TX-3, yeah. A TX-3 made in a couple of different shapes, more the kind of, you know, little shell shape and then more of a longer body shape. And yeah, those were iconic seeing those around, you know. And you don't see them anymore. I'd love to get my hands on one of those in 164. Yeah. Matthew: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. 100%. Yeah. I forgot about TX three, but yeah, they were, they were super popular, super popular. I look, yeah. Out of this lot. Uh, the only one that, that I, uh, that sort of flagged for me as a, as a maybe, uh, was the Corolla wide body. Uh, I have enjoyed the John Siebel. Uh, look, I've got quite a bit of tarmac stuff and I don't know whether it's just my imagination or whether it's facts, but the John Siebel cars from tarmac. BoyRacer: Yeah Matthew: seem to be at just a higher level of quality than what we've seen, you know, just generally from, from tarmac and not that their quality is terrible. It's just, yeah, they just seem to be a step above for whatever reason. so yeah, look, and, and yeah, same as you, I quite like the idea of a wide body. The only thing that, yeah, that I questioned was the livery. It's definitely not going to be the, you know, the last Corolla wide body that they do. They've released all of the John Siebel cars so far in various different liveries and colors. So I thought I might, because I'm not loving the livery, ⁓ I might leave it and see what the next livery will be. But I'll definitely pick up a Corolla widebody from Tarmac at some point. I just want to see what else they do livery wise more or less. Yeah. So that's Tarmac anyway. BoyRacer: Yeah, nice. Yeah. Feeling much the same. week we love the comments and questions that get from the audience, but we had one comment, not so much a question. It was a comment slash statement from ⁓ zero. ⁓ Phrasing zero. Matthew: No, HP, zero HP racing. Yeah, I read it the same way. ⁓ BoyRacer: ⁓ ZeroHP Racing, there you go. was trying to think. Mr ZeroHP has said, great episode guys. Lee is really no nonsense. Ha ha ha ha ha. Love it. He is no nonsense, isn't he? have you seen the Authentic Collectibles new line of ⁓ 164 track stars? Australian supercars? ⁓ They have 12 models coming out soon and they look great from the little I can see on them. I don't know the price on them. I think they get released on the 20th of the 2nd, 26. So Trackstars, Australian Trackstars in 164, another Australian diecast brand coming, making, let's say Australian based cars. Tell me what you know about them. Matthew: Look, don't profess to know a whole lot. I did see these pop up and you know, there was a bit of noise around, know, what, you know, here's a new one six four brand in town. And I was quite keen to see what they were going to do. They were, they were G-ing up to announce 20 new castings all at once. So I was pretty keen to see what they were, what they were going to do. It was pretty evident after the first two that we were getting V8 supercars. Um, which, for those of you that are not familiar with, um, you know, what V8 supercars are, it's basically the Australian version of, I would describe it as the Australian version of NASCAR, except you're not going around in circles. You drive it around, around a proper track. Uh, the pinnacle of course, being Bathurst. Um, it's the, uh, the great race. Uh, and yeah, look, they look from the pictures, they look like great. replicas of the V8 supercars. Me personally, I don't the V8 supercars ⁓ closely as as I do enjoy motorsport. ⁓ Here in Adelaide, where I am, South Australia, we get two ⁓ of the supercar races, ⁓ one at the Bend ⁓ race track, then the Finale ⁓ is here Adelaide now as well, ⁓ which is city track. ⁓ But yeah, it's not, ⁓ it's not that I, ⁓ get really into, I tend to be more into the F1 side of things. So if I was going to go to a race, I'd probably pop over to Melbourne and visit the Formula One. hey, what was your thoughts? Do you get into the V8 Supercars? BoyRacer: I used to get into the V8 supercars back when was you know Marcus Ambrose who races NASCAR now or he did I don't know if he still is ⁓ and you know Mark Scaife back in the day we had the you know pretty big Lounsey yep had a pretty big rivalries back then and we were racing Australian Holdens and Australian Fords which we now race Mustangs and Camaros which I'm not interested in anymore ⁓ so yeah anyway 12 Matthew: Lounsy. Hahaha We've got Toyota coming this year, I think. BoyRacer: ⁓ I believe we've got yeah Toyota Supra. We've got the Toyota Supra and Supra entering the EV8 supercars, which is a pretty cool ⁓ Matthew: Yeah Yeah, sort of went, hmm, I might actually be interested in it for once. BoyRacer: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't love the Mark 5 Super. I've stated that plenty of times. But it is an interesting development, which, I think it's good for the sport here in Australia. But anyway, we've seen the release. We didn't know what they were going to be the release of not 20, but 12 V8 supercars. There was a bit of bit of a buzz at first. know, people like, oh, looks like Oswills has got some competition, however. Matthew: Yeah. ⁓ sorry, my bad. BoyRacer: We've had two castings released in different liveries and we've got the Ford Mustang and the Chevy Camaro, of course, which are currently racing in the V8 supercars. So six of each, I believe, and maybe five of one and seven of the other. can't remember. Different liveries, of course. ⁓ We've got pictures of the cars. However, I don't think the pictures. pictures of the actual cars. It kind of looks like, you know, computer generated images. We don't know the quality of the cars, what they're going to look like. We've got a picture of the outside box. come in similar boxes to Mini GT. I'm a little bit worried that these are going to have blacked out windows. Matthew: Ooh, that's a no go for me. Yeah, I probably would have picked up, you know, I think these are going to be in our local Repco stores. ⁓ And I probably would have picked one up if I was in a Repco and saw one, just to see what the quality is like and, you know, whatever else. ⁓ But yeah, not if they got blacked out windows. BoyRacer: Yeah, look, we haven't had actual pictures of the cars yet, which is strange because it is only dropping in four days from now, which by the time the podcast drops, they will be out in stores. So we'll have to wait and see ⁓ what the finer details are going to look like. The price point will be 29 Australian dollars, so more than an Oswills car. So if the windows are blacked out, it will be quite disappointing. So time will tell. This could either be a good little series. Matthew: Wow. BoyRacer: or it could be a bit of a fail. But yeah. Matthew: I'll tell you what, I'm pretty disappointed with that price because it's not like you've got a whole, you you haven't had to invest a lot of money into different castings. You've got two castings. There's a Camaro and a Mustang. And you've just repeated that, you know, six times basically. Does it need to be $29? That's to me, that seems a bit, you know, that seems a bit pricey, especially if it's got blacked out windows, very pricey if it's got blacked out windows. BoyRacer: Yeah, look, I mean, when these were released at first, I'm thinking, ⁓ look, we're getting some Holden's, we're getting some Fords, some real V8 supercars. Whether that comes in the future, who knows? But for 29 Australian dollars, these need to be close to mini GT style, in my opinion, for only having two castings. So which I don't think they're going to be, but I hope they prove me wrong. Matthew: 100%. BoyRacer: I'll pick one up regardless, I'll check it out. I'll post it up on my socials and we'll see how they look. If we can get hold of them they might sell out like crazy. Matthew: ⁓ look, I think we are the oddity in relation to not being V8 supercar fans. Most car lovers here in Australia love the V8 supercars ⁓ and it certainly attracts a big dedicated crowd in each state when they go around the country. ⁓ So yeah, there will be fans that will be snapping these up for sure. when I was collecting one 18 scale, one 18 scale, you know, VA supercars were huge. There's so many guys out there to the point where, ⁓ for me not collecting VA supercars and collecting various other, you know, cars, mostly Ferraris, but, ⁓ you know, even putting, even looking in buy, sell, swap type, ⁓ die car, Facebook pages and things like that. Most of it was just flooded with VA supercars. And that's all you saw post after post was just VA supercars. From all the different eras, of course. ⁓ And yeah, I get it. But yeah. BoyRacer: Yeah, but obviously, yeah, those one 18s, they were very popular and some of them resold for crazy prices, but they also made very limited numbers in some of those more sought after ones. And they were also Australian made ⁓ Commodores and Ford Falcons. So a little bit different 164, they're to make a lot because they need to make the money back. They're going to be flooded. I think the popular models like the, you know, the Red Bulls and whoever's done well in the season, the fan favorites, those cars might sell out because it looks like you can pick out the cars. I believe there's going to be chases in there as well. ⁓ But I think, yeah, I can't see them going two bananas off the shelf. Matthew: Literally what I was about to ask is, yeah, is being a sealed box, there a chase type system? But yeah. BoyRacer: Yeah, again, not a lot of details. There hasn't been a lot of details out of this at all. They only sell at Repco. That's the only place you can pick them up. But yeah, and there has been confirmed there are chases in there. So what a chase looks like, who knows. Matthew: Okay, yeah. Well, I guess we'll see. I guess we'll see. BoyRacer: Hopefully not a raw chase. Matthew: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, hopefully not. That'll yeah, that'll be disappointing, but I guess we'll see. Somebody will appreciate it. Just not me. What do we got next, mate? BoyRacer: So yeah, let's have a quick look at Motor Helix. Motor Helix, we've got a, I don't know where you've pulled these from, because I certainly haven't seen this little chart that you've got going. And it looks like we've got some pretty cool Liberty Walk stuff coming out from, from Motor Helix. We've got the R35 Liberty Walk. We've got the Liberty Walk. ⁓ RX-7 FD, we've got the R34 silhouette. These are all with opening boots, opening doors, and opening hoods. So we are looking at sort of PMG style here and these are just the resin models but these look insane. I reckon they're going to be expensive. Matthew: They do look very expensive. And yeah, look, I can't remember where I've saw it either. To be honest, I just remember ⁓ ⁓ we'll talk about that on the podcast. These look amazing. ⁓ Also, I saw that they're doing the now we've seen the Liberty Walk trucks that GCD did ⁓ Fuso, especially Fuso style. ⁓ that ⁓ of follow Liberty Walk, they also did the UD Kwan. a was, which was literally a truck without a trailer and a spoiler on the back ⁓ for that, you know, the truck racing style that you see. ⁓ And so they've done that as well. And that looks very, very detailed as well. ⁓ Outside of that, they're also doing the Pagani Zonda Revolution, which we've seen from the likes of Tarmac. We've of course, seen that more recently from Pop Race as well. ⁓ But this one is like very much like the Liberty Walk ones. Opening doors, full removable rear, full removable front. ⁓ Again, just resin models at this point, but it'll be fascinating to see how much detail they pack into all these cars. It really will. BoyRacer: Look, Motor Helix, man, they have really been stepping it up with some of their designs and what they've got coming. It's going to be interesting to watch, you know, where they go and how popular they are, because obviously the price point, we're probably looking close to 100 Australian dollars for all of these cars, which is very on par with, know, PMG, even probably slightly cheaper. But if that, yeah, I'm interested to see. Matthew: percent. BoyRacer: How well, I think there's definitely a market for these higher end pieces isn't there. Matthew: I agree. Although probably in line with what we talked about with Lee on the last episode, there is a certain point where you go, do I want to pay the extra for opening doors? ⁓ and to his point, you know, last week, you know, ⁓ how, how much value are you getting out of an opening Unless that's where the engine is. an opening bonnet is cool enough, you know, cause you want to see the engine detail. Would you pay 40, 50, 60 extra dollars to have the opening boot and the opening doors? ⁓ And I thought about that after he said that and his was, you know, ⁓ that's what I like about pop I feel like I'm getting opening parts without really paying the the premium sort of thing. And I was like, that's a good point actually. You know, like I think I know I'm guilty of seeing something like this and go, Oh man, that's cool. And it is cool because it's hard to do in one six four, right? See that that's what's impressive about it. But would I actually display it with all the pieces open like that, for example, or would I display close bottle? If I display a closed model, what's the point, you know, BoyRacer: Yeah. Yeah. Matthew: So yeah, I would be, I will be interested to see, there's going to be a market for it. For sure. There's, people with cash to spend, I don't know whether I would run out and just grab every single one of them. Cause I'd have that would be playing in the back of my head is Am I actually going to display it with all the parts, you know, open and, know, the Pagani fully pulled apart. Um, you know, when I think about it with the, the Mazda seven, eight, seven, I didn't pick one up. but I probably would display it complete. You know, not, not all the parts, you know, pulled off of it and all that sort of thing. It'd be nice to get it out of the display and remove the parts and show off the detail of someone else that's having a look at your collection and things like that. But how often you going to do that? BoyRacer: Yeah, and when you do do that, you can show them a pop race and even though the details aren't as refined, they're just still they're just like, whoa, how. Matthew: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, it's you and me that are impressed with the level of detail that Moto Helix are doing. The average Joe Blow thinks that the Hot Wheels premium is cool because it's got rubber tires. You know, like, so the Pop Race ones will blow their minds. BoyRacer: ⁓ Yeah, yeah, yeah. Look, it when it comes to something like the Pagani Zonda, yeah, dead on. can get the pop. We can all get the pop race one for under forty dollars, max forty dollars Australian. Looking at one hundred for this one, like you said, all you're getting is extra two doors opening and slightly more refined details. Is it worth the extra fifty, sixty dollars? I don't think so. I think when it comes to, you know, we've got the RX-7, the R35, the R34. I think you pick your favorite, maybe your favorite car and your favorite livery and you purchase that one. So for me, probably the R34 LB silhouette, you know, in the classic red over white potentially. I get that one and then that's where it ends. Matthew: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I would be struggling to, I'd be struggling to decide between the 34 and the FD to be honest, but, but yeah, both, both would be cool. BoyRacer: Yeah, yeah for sure. Matthew: Yeah. Anyway, look, that's motor helix and look, we presume that they're going to be super detailed because the resin models look super detailed. We haven't seen the final diecast versions yet. So it will be interesting, but based on motor helix's track record, pretty safe to say these will be impressive. BoyRacer: Definitely, 100%. And I mean, Pop Race is probably going to make all these models as well. So again, for a fraction of the price, do you just wait for the Pop Race one to come out? And yeah, you've got your opening hood, like you said, you're never going to display it with the doors open. So probably, to tell you the truth, if Pop Race are going to make the R34 silhouette, I'll probably end up with that one. And then I'll be thinking, why did I waste $100 on something that I've got? A really nice example for a fraction of the price. Matthew: And that's the only thing that I do think when it comes to these very expensive models, you know, be a PGM, be it motor helix, ⁓ you know, that sort of, you know, that sort of dollar that you're spending the way that I think of it is not, ⁓ can I afford to spend a hundred dollars on this model? The way I think of it is that's three other diecast models that I could have bought. Now, if you haven't got a lot of room and you really like high detailed models, well, don't collect anything else and just buy the motor helix or just buy PGMs. Um, but in my head, go, Oh, you know, there's, there's 20 models that I want and I've only got X amount of money to buy them. So I've got to make a choice, but you know, which 20 are the, of the 20 I'm to buy. If that's taking up a large chunk of my budget, you know, maybe I don't buy that one. And like, I go and get these other three that I really want anyway, you know, that's, that's kind of how I see it. Anyway, Mike, that's, that's motor helix. It's certainly, I watched this space. brand at the moment for sure. They're doing some pretty impressive things. Hidden Gem. The boy racer Ben. AliExpress. Sponsored, should be sponsored by AliExpress. Hidden Gem. BoyRacer: Yeah, maybe even Timo, know, actually Timo do like to do a lot of sponsorships. They've hit me up before and I've shut them down. this hidden gem is back to Ferrari. We've been talking about Ferrari. This one is from Rhino model. I feel like I've got a Rhino model as well. This is the Ferrari 599 and we've got it one in a red and one in a black. Matthew: Look, maybe. BoyRacer: I really like the black one. The black one has like a 55 racing number on the side and on the bonnet. This has an opening hood. Something about the car it just looks like semi-modified doesn't it? Something it's very slick, very sort of racy and the detail the engine details look really crazy. Yeah really well put together car and I think the price point we were looking around I went to order it haven't done it yet I think it was around 43 Australian dollars delivered. Not too bad for all the details. Matthew: That's not too bad. Yeah. So these are a ⁓ race version. So the 599XX, part of the XX Racing program from Ferrari. ⁓ So yeah, a lot of carbon fiber. Very, very much just a race car. This is not a street car at all. ⁓ But very cool. Very cool. I agree with you. I, you know, I love a red Ferrari, but it almost looks like it's a chrome red. ⁓ BoyRacer: Yeah, the red's off, yep. Matthew: which is, which I'm not a huge fan of. Definitely the black, the blacks the go. The red also has no racing numbers on it. If it had a white racing number on it, I'd probably like it a bit more. But the black with the, with the 55 on it, very, very cool. BoyRacer: Yep. You've talked me into it and straight after this I'm ordering it done. Matthew: Okay. Okay. No, you do that. I like, like you've taken some screenshots here, which I presume are from AliExpress and it says Rhino model 164 alloy model, collectible ornament toy gift. must be like the keywords. ⁓ I like that. Rhino model. You've definitely, you've definitely brought a Rhino model to the hidden gem section before, reckon. BoyRacer: Bus B. Matthew: Was it the there was the Mercedes Benz 190 E Evo all blacked out? Yes. Yeah. Don't know why I really remember that. But yeah, that was a running model. Yeah. Very good. And you you've got that in hand, don't you? You were pretty happy with it. BoyRacer: Why? Yeah that was Rhino, yep yep yep yep. I do, I've got the Mercedes in hand. Yeah, I am. For the price point, yeah, very nice. Very sort of gangster looking car. Really nice details in the brake calipers, the wheels. Yeah, well put together piece. Yep. Matthew: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I did. Nice. Nice. Oh, well, there you go. Now you'll have two rhino models. Well, mate, that is a wrap on episode 11. bit happening in the diecast world. Unless there's anything else that you had to bring up and I'll just cut you short. BoyRacer: I will. Let's wrap it up at the start of the show. said, let's keep this one under an hour. And I think we're up to about an hour 25. So if you've listened along this far, thank you. Hope you appreciate, you know, the show, what we're putting together so far and yeah, leave, leave some comments for us. Any improvements we can make, anything you'd like to see. We love the feedback. Matthew: You share the podcast with your friends as well If you if you know somebody that's into diecast, please share the episodes around ⁓ Get the word out there. ⁓ Be to see more people, listen us talk rubbish for an hour and a typically every fortnight ⁓ But but anyway, that's ⁓ that's it That's episode 11. We did say that we wanted to the original aim was to do 12 episodes. So next episode will be the last. ⁓ We'll discuss it off air. discuss it off air. ⁓ No, we I think we plan on doing a whole lot. I discussed this with you, but I think we plan on continuing to do this. We certainly have. I'm certainly having a lot of fun doing the podcast. So yeah. BoyRacer: Yeah, we did say 12, didn't we? We were about to hit it. We've done all right. Matthew: You too. Happy with that, happy with that. I managed to squeeze Lee in there as well, which is good. Mate, you know what I always say, less is more, except when it comes to diecasts. Collect responsibly. BoyRacer: We did, we did, Yep, it's been a pleasure as always. Thanks, Matt. Catch ya. Matthew: Speak soon.
