TruVillain: Welcome to this episode three of the Lost My Save podcast. We made it. It's a trilogy. We did it. It always Kainitsu: That means it's the best. TruVillain: Yeah. Well, a pattern is three or more. So we are now a pattern of podcasts. A a pattern of Kainitsu: That is w that is true. Mm-hmm. Could also be a serial killer. TruVillain: Yeah, pattern of PC podcasts. That's a nice alliteration for you. I'm a big fan of alliteration. It was always one of my favorite anyway. I am your host, True Villain. I went to school for English. Kainitsu: I'm an English nerd, guys. TruVillain: And I'm of course joined by my co-host Kai Nitsu. What's up, man? Kainitsu: Hey, how's it going, my dude? TruVillain: That's good. It's good. I saw I saw the new Spider Man movie. I did it. Kainitsu: yeah? Yeah. TruVillain: Yeah. I wasn't going to, but a bunch of guys from work wanted to go see it, and so we did. 'Cause to give you a little background, I love Spider Man. But I hate the Tom Holland movies. I think they are bad. I think they Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: are objectively terrible. I think they get worse as they go. I think that the first one, like Homecoming, was like, I don't know, he Not to make this this Tom Holland Spider-Man podcast, but Homecoming, like, they make him like a little kid, and he's like gushing over Iron Man. Iron Man gives him all of his stuff. The Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Spider-Man I love makes his own shit. He doesn't need Kainitsu: Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Iron Man. He's not like, my god, my god, god, Tony's Tark Iron Man, my god you know, he's just really fucking obnoxious. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: and the second movie, they really just fucked my boy Mysterio up. I love Mysterio. And they fucked him up. He was just not great. That whole and then the third movie was the multiverse one, right? Where all the three Spider Men come back and or Toby and and Andrew come into it and that whole movie was just dumb. Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: Because have you seen them at all? Okay. Kainitsu: no. So I've I've seen seen Homecoming and I saw Far From Home and I didn't watch the TruVillain: Mm. Okay. Kainitsu: third one. TruVillain: Yeah, the third one was ridiculous because so basically basically in the second movie, not to spoil fucking Spider-Man, I guess. I'm about to though, in the second Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: movie, I won't spoil the new one, but like in the second movie, Mysterio announces to the world that Spider Man is Peter Parker. And so in the third movie, everyone's like, my god, that's Peter Parker. And so his friends for some reason in MJ can't get into college and stuff because like they're associated with him. And so what he does is he goes to Doctor Strange and is like, Bro, my friends can't get into college. Can we please reshape the universe so that people forget about who I am? And Kainitsu: What? TruVillain: yeah, and and and and we just do that. And so hijinks ensue and that's how Toby and what's this fuck shows up, Andrew Garfield. Kainitsu: yeah, yeah. The the the British TruVillain: And so in this one Kainitsu: guy actually does a pretty good American accent anyway. TruVillain: Yeah. And so in this one, he is dealing with the fact that no one he loves remembers who he is because of the, you know, spell from the first movie or the third movie. Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: And I'm here to tell you, it's actually a shockingly good movie. Like I was dude, I was shocked at how good this fucking movie was. Like it was I don't know. I mean it's it doesn't beat the Toby movies. Let's get that straight. Let's get that right. It's not even close. Kainitsu: really? Really so you you so you're a Toby defender? TruVillain: I'm a huge tot defender. I I'm a stan, bro. I Kainitsu: Ha ha ha. TruVillain: fucking love Spider Man two is one of the greatest superhero movies, like bar none. Kainitsu: It's a pretty good one. I mean, the the first two are very fun flicks and TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: mm that third one. it's bad. It's it's TruVillain: The third one is Kainitsu: just an amalgamation of ass like TruVillain: It yeah, but it it has it has a it has charm though, I think. It has a charm still that like I don't know, those the I like Andrew Garfield as a Spider Man, but his movies were bad. They weren't great. Kainitsu: So I didn't like the second one as much with Andrew Garfield. The first one was I didn't still pretty good. And again, they also kept it with, you know, Spider-Man being a really smart kid, slash man. He's a scientist. TruVillain: Mm. Yeah. Kainitsu: He makes his own stuff and makes his own soup and everything because he's a scientist. TruVillain: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Kainitsu: so I totally get where you're coming from. Like, yeah, I like, man, it feels like they're just really kind of taken away from what makes Peter Parker like awesome. It's like just like, he has spider powers. That's really fucking cool. It's like, no, he's that and he's smart and he makes stupid jokes that are funny. TruVillain: Yeah, well and and not only is he just like not shown to be very intelligent like academically 'cause I mean he's in fucking high school. But also he's fucking just stupid. Like he make like the whole like 'cause like even in the third movie, even Doctor Strange is like, Well, did you did they try to write the the colleges to to get them to reconsider? He's like, No. And he's like And then the master of time and space is like, okay, that checks out. Let's just change reality then. Kainitsu: That's fine. Let's just let's just change it for you. TruVillain: Yeah, it's so s it's so dumb. But this one this one gets like it gets kind of back to basics in a lot of ways. Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: It kind of throws out the multiverse shit. It doesn't throw it out, but it just doesn't really deal with it. and I think told a much just a much better Spider Man story. Like it's actually that the acting was pretty good, the character I didn't mind Tom Holland in this, which was a shocker. shocker, get it. And And the Punishers in it, John Bernthal, you know, love him. Fantastic. performance from him. Yeah. It it had its issues. I think that if Kainitsu: Hell yeah. Punisher's always a fun character. TruVillain: you go into it thinking that this is gonna be beat like the Batman or anything like that, it's crazy. But I mean it's like a fun Spider-Man movie that actually had some pretty decent, like kind of emotional stuff going on in it and some good like themes and stuff. And I'm not gonna spoil anything about some of the there's some storyline in this movie that I'm like. Ooh, okay. You know, because it sp spoke to me specifically. I'm not gonna spoil it 'cause it was 'cause Kainitsu: okay. TruVillain: they don't put it in any of the trailers that I saw anyway. And I was completely surprised when I said maybe it was known. It's possible it was known and people like, yeah, but like I wasn't really I wasn't even gonna go watch this movie. So I did Kainitsu: Gotcha. TruVillain: I only saw the one trailer and it wasn't in that trailer. and so I was I was kinda like plot twisted. with it. So I th I think it's really good. I think the the biggest issue with this movie is you have to watch three shitty Tom Holland movies beforehand. to because if you don't, because you you kinda need to because if you don't you're gonna be very confused. I think you at least Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Very lost, yeah. TruVillain: need you at least need to watch the last one before this one. the worst one, you need to at least watch that one. I think you could probably get away with not watching the first two. Well Yeah, I mean you would probably Kainitsu: I mean, TruVillain: need to watch the second one to watch the third one. You probably wouldn't have to watch the first one though. You could probably get away with watching two shitty Tom Holland movies before watching a good one. Kainitsu: Instead of just three. It's just two guys, like that's all you have to TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: get through. TruVillain: Yeah, that's the worst part of the movie is you outta watch those shitty fucking I mean it has its issues. There's there's a couple things and again I don't want to spoil anything. It's a new movie, it just came out Friday. I'm not gonna spoil like anything about it at all, because I'm a huge anti-spoiler person. But I think that if if you like the Tom Holland movies, you're gonna love this. If you're Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: a skeptical and hater like me, I still kinda liked it. I would actually put this probably If I had to rank it in Spider Man movies, three or four. Yeah. With to yeah, with Kainitsu: damn. Okay. And there's like at this point there are more Spider Man movies than any other superhero movie. Culk kinda comes close, and maybe Batman. TruVillain: Yeah. Well you got the three you got yeah, you got the three Toby's, you got the three Toby's, you got the two Garfields, and now the four Tom Hollands. And so out of all Kainitsu: Yeah, that's a lot for one character. TruVillain: of those, I would probably put it at number three, to be honest. Yeah, out of all the Spider Man movies. Yeah. Toby's Kainitsu: Out of all the Spider Man movies? Okay. Damn, okay. Damn. TruVillain: two at the top. Spider Man two at number one, Spider Man one at number two. Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: Spider Man two is just so fucking good. That is such a good movie. Kainitsu: mean the both those like I was gonna say earlier, both those little fun are far very fun flicks. Like they're not like, you know, gonna be the I'm a cinematic masterpiece, 'cause I mean he's you know, Schulmacher. dude makes TruVillain: I think they are. Kainitsu: not the best movies, but he makes fun movies. Arguably not Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, though my God, those movies. TruVillain: Wait, who who are you talking about? What what happened? What about Schumacher? He directed what? Kainitsu: Schumacher, the director. The Spider Man movies. Was it? Really? For the for the Toby movies? I thought those TruVillain: No, that wasn't him. That was the Evil Dead guy. Yeah. What what's his name? Yeah, for the Toby movies. No, those were the fuck is his name? Evil Dead Director. Kainitsu: I I feel like I'll know. It's a Mandela effect. TruVillain: Not Evil Dead, fucking let me just use Spider Man director. Sam Raimi. God damn it, that's his name. Yeah, Sam Raimi. Yeah. Kainitsu: Okay, Rami. Okay, yeah, I'm sorry. Okay, okay. Not not Schumacher. but Schumacher did do the b anyway. either either way, they're they're not like, you know, they're not cinematic masterpieces. They're just they're just fun movies. And that's nothing. There's nothing wrong with having a fun movie, you know? but sometimes something can be way better if it's done differently. So yeah. TruVillain: Yeah, I mean well Spider Man's always like a he's a fun hero anyway, you know. He doesn't it's not it's not Batman where you really get into the depths of the soul, you know. Spider Man he's Kainitsu: It's not too deep. TruVillain: yeah, I love Spider Man. He's one of my favorites. I mean I'm a D C guy, I'm a Batman. Batman is number one in Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: my heart and always will be. but I do I Kainitsu: I mean it's got some good stuff. TruVillain: do love Spider Man, so I don't want to spend too long on that, but if you haven't seen Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: it, I you know hey, you could do worse than this movie. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: and it gives me a little little bit of hope for Doomsday. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: we'll probably go see that with the work crew too, because they seem pretty excited about it. Kainitsu: Gotcha, gotcha. Okay. TruVillain: so yeah, on to the main crux of our show. As always, we talk about what we've been playing before moving on to the eternally depressing fucking news that we have to cover all the time. Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: at the top here, I always mention it at the back of the show, but I want to mention it at the top of the show. If you have any questions that you would like to get onto the show for now, go to our Twitters. Mine is at the TrueVillain. I have a thread there. it's if you look at the show notes like the description on the podcast, you'll see the link there. go there. There's a thread. Though anything you want to ask. I mean try to keep it topical if you can, but if you want to know Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: what my favorite fucking smoothie is, I'll tell you. And probably go on a rant about it. So Go there. and we're doing we're doing okay. We're doing better in view or listens, I guess, than I thought. We've we're you know, I mean it's not Kainitsu: Really? Yeah. TruVillain: not breaking records or anything, but it's we're doing okay. And shout out to our Bangladeshi audience members. we got some I don't it's now I was thinking about it. And that could be a VPN thing. Like it could be someone routing. Kainitsu: Yeah, prob probably. Yeah, true. TruVillain: But I like to think that we've got like two homies out in Bangladesh who really really fuck with the show. So if that's true, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: shout out to those guys. Anyway, on to what we've been playing. I like starting with you. I don't know why. It's just what I've settled on. Tell me about your ongoing experience with Jedi Survivor. Are you surviving? Kainitsu: Mm. So, TruVillain: Ha ha ha. Kainitsu: I'm not like I'm just man, I'm just kinda just kinda getting fed up with it, to be honest, at this point. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: like I I enjoyed Fallen Order for what it was. And I also enjoyed I've been been enjoying Survivor as well. But like man, I've I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again because I mean, it's just how I feel. It's in my soul. I'm a space wizard with a plasma sword. I'm going TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: up to fucking stormtroopers who can't shoot worth shit, who have a sh TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Kainitsu: a shield, a metal shield, nothing electric, just a metal shield, and they block me. Like I TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: get for like gameplay-wise and everything, like you you like, we gotta get around different way to get to do this, and you use force powers in bit-a-b. But man, I dude, I just wanna mow people down. I just wanna mow people down, TruVillain: So Kainitsu: dude. I got I got a lightsaber, I got I'm dual wielding over here. You know, I'm I'm having fun doing that and I don't like it when it stops me and ruining my power fantasy. and I'm also kind of like not really enjoying the kind of like semi open world or open zone game TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: design they have going on for the planets right now. I mean it's cool, grant like more like more game. How is that gonna be bad? It's just like, man, I can't I don't want every game to be a fucking open world ninety hour game, hundred hour game, man, like Those are for only, you know, for for certain games. the TruVillain: The precious few Kainitsu: precious few that deserve my precious time on this earth. What little time I have. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Kainitsu: and that's just yeah, it's like I think it's also kind of a a problem just in the gaming industry right now as well, is you know, games are asking too much of your attention for too long and want all of it, and then they want you all To go in the same direction and then get upset. Like, why are you guys buying our games and giving us the numbers we want? It's like, dude, you want us to like play like five live service games, buy your single player games, and spend like a hundred hours each and in your single player games, man. Like I everyone only has so much time, you know? and money and everything else. So TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: yeah, I just I don't want I don't want an open world kind of game right now, I guess, because TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: I'm saving myself up. Building myself up, TruVillain: Saving yourself up. Kainitsu: saving myself, my precious my not gonna go there. Anyway. TruVillain: So your your so your main two contentions with it is that the you you can't like your lightsaber's not it's too weak and the game Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: is taking too long. Kainitsu: It's taking a little bit longer than I would wanted to try and get through at this point. And I might TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: I don't know if I'm gonna finish it right now. just because of again how the you know, the game loop and all that and it's set up and again the semi open world thing where I'm just again I'm gonna be playing Painted in Blood or not not yeah, not Painted in Blood. That's something else. Sorry. I'm gonna be playing Blood of Don Walker in September. TruVillain: no. Kainitsu: 'Cause that's gonna be fun to talk about 'cause, you know, we've both been anticipating that and you see our how our how our personal experiences with the game has been and see if we've possibly done any different choices in some early things that's not too spoilery, you know. 'cause that's one of the biggest things about that game is you're gonna have like, you different ways to tackle on situations and how to solve certain quests. But anyway, yeah, it's and even that game's not gonna be super long, thirty, forty hours, but it's still like a you know, an open world game. so I don't really wanna do TruVillain: Sure. Kainitsu: goes back to back right now. it's a har that's a that's a lot a lot of time. TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah yeah, I I don't mind games being five million hours, that but they have to be compelling enough to keep me. They either have to have like a really good gameplay loop or like Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Right? TruVillain: story, otherwise I'm 'cause I I find I bounce off shit way faster nowadays. I used to I used to s just stick it out with stuff. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: but now I I will bounce off so fucking hard 'cause it's like, man It's opportunity cost. I could be doing something else with this time. Including replaying something that like is compelling. So But I'm sorry to hear you kind of fell off. I did actually beat this one. now Kainitsu: Right, right. Something you've already hmm. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: I will say it did wear me out by the end. Like I I I got to the end, I'm like, you know what? I didn't hate that, but I will never play this again. I will never Kainitsu: Yeah, and and I TruVillain: replay this. Kainitsu: and and I I can I can see why. And it's not again and again, like I said in the last episode when I started first playing it and all that, and I was basically still on the first planet. I'm like I got the second one now and I was enjoying it until a certain point, and I'll I'll get to that in here just a moment. But but yeah, I you know, I I I liked where they took the direction in just pretty much everything from the get go. Like it felt like a Star Wars story, felt like a Star Wars game. it's it's a lot more gritty. they did a lot of sad stuff at the very beginning of the game. And it's not like they didn't TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: do that with with Fallen Order. They did especially like, you know, his friend that he worked with in, you know, the the trash planet. like, you know, he you know, he dies. Well, I spoiled it for you, my god. but yeah, like, you know, there there's that and there's that tragedy early on and you know, like you learn you learn more about like what kind of happened to him after like, you know, order order sixty six was was announced that started happening and with this master and all of that, and that he, you know, doesn't really have a strong connection with the force anymore and all. But but it even still it felt way heavier this time. It felt like, you know, there was more weight. It it just felt like it it meant more. There was more going on with it, with this beginning and just, you know, just killing off characters that you just met were were kind of already they're already pretty likable, honestly. and that's kind of a hard thing to do. Because I like, okay, cool. Because again, like I I was like, man, okay, this is Star Wars. we got the crew. We're going around. Can do Star Wars shit. No. TruVillain: No. Kainitsu: No. Get the crew. You kinda can see what kind of chemistry they had, and then there's death. TruVillain: Fantastic. We love to see it. so Kainitsu: love it. Love it. TruVillain: so you're you're officially just bouncing off of this one, is what I'm Kainitsu: Yeah, I think I think I might like just just because of right now, again, I it's not the kind of game I wanna play at the moment. I might find something else to go along with what I'm playing currently because what I'm also gonna talk about won't be as a long gameplay session right now for different reasons. but yeah, I just might do it 'cause again, stuff coming up September, got a month, man. I'd rather try to play something that's a bit more yeah, a bit more right TruVillain: Yeah. Gotta be making gotta start making business decisions. Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah. gotta s figure out if I'm gonna be spending a hundred and forty dollars on video games. Cause well and I'll get to that a bit later too for reasons why that might happen. We've already been talking blood and all workers, whatever. but yeah, but yeah, Survivor, it's good again. Like I like how it started. I like how TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: they went with the story direction. I like how more gritty it felt. and and I liked the combat and everything. Like again, it's just objectively a better game, but right now it's not What I really want. And again, I just again I'm getting my power fantasy killed. Like I already talked about a stormtrooper, but get this dude again. I got I got to a boss. Alright? I got to a stupid fucking scorpion. Alright? An alien giant scorpion. Okay. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: It has it got a big old claw. you hit me with your light, sword of light, and plasma. It doesn't do shit. Like it just gets gets to block that. TruVillain: Well well let me let me let me stop you right there. I mean, how do you know that that claw was not made from some kind of vibroblade esque metal? Right? Kainitsu: Don't TruVillain: Like at the chitin the chitin in the claw, you know, isn't you know, the maybe something akin to the vibroblade material? Kainitsu: Maybe. But you know what? It doesn't give you any visual representation of that. It's just like, hey, he's got a big ass claw and he and and it blocks ya. That's the thing. That's the gimmick. TruVillain: Well, I I think there's plenty of evidence. I think I think you know, I d I I I think if he raises his call and it blocks your lightsaber, that's the assumption. So Kainitsu: Okay, is that what I should assume for everything that's doing that in this game? Like TruVillain: I mean, I will say, like, it that is kind of the inherent kinda contradiction in Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: every single Jedi Star Wars game because like you are wheeleting this thing that slices through fucking anything, but there's not a single game that represents that, right? Like every single Jedi game, like it because it's a video game, you have to kinda I think it would be cool Kainitsu: Yeah. Well Yeah, yeah, you get TruVillain: to see what that looks like, in a game, but like at the same time That w for someone like me, it's like, well then this game's too easy. You know, like so but it it is more realistic. Kainitsu: Right. Yeah, no, I I Yeah. TruVillain: But I d I don't know. It's it's it's a tough one. It's a tough one. and I don't know how Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah, no no and I get that. TruVillain: you crack that nut. It's kinda like making a Superman game. It's like, how do you do that? Kainitsu: yeah. You know, and again, like I said earlier, like, you I understand you need like you know some challenge in gameplay and stuff. Again, in all honesty with a lot of the older like Jedi Academy games and Jedi Night games, again you weren't like, you know, overly powered, but TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Yeah, played this. Kainitsu: you can once you got that lightsaber in those later games, man, like you you have a little bit of a power fantasy. TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: And yeah, so it TruVillain: Why is it Kainitsu: Yeah. that happened. Anyway. Yeah, so there's been a fan there's always been a little bit of a power fantasy there with like, okay, so you get a little bit of challenge too, but like I j just a little bit, you still get to be a Jedi. But nah man, let's just take me out of it again. I gotta I got a shield. that shield don't got electricity like these other things that blocks your shit, but I'm gonna block it with this metal even though you you melt metal like TruVillain: I will say probably a big part of your issue and and I run into this I ran in this with like God of Warren stuff is you get this into your head like, I'm gonna play this one and then go on to the sequel and play that and I Kainitsu: Mm. Yeah. TruVillain: think that like you just get wore out, right? Whereas Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: if you played it more naturally, like you played the first one and then waited like two years Kainitsu: Had the space the time in between. Yeah. TruVillain: or whatever the hell, three whatever it was, Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: and then played this, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. But like you Kainitsu: Yeah, probably. TruVillain: kinda get to a point where it's like, Man, I've I have played this Kainitsu: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: And played this and I've played this. And it's so I think the maybe some of that's going on I think as well for you. Kainitsu: Yeah, probably a little bit as well. Like, I mean go get a little fatigue of this the same same franchise and stuff, you know, it happens. especially if it's a little too samey. And in this game isn't too samey. Like again, they do a lot of good changes. and again, I feel like the direction just like like even like, you know, with their scenes and like writing everything was a like art all of it it's all of it's been good for the most part, but it's just like I'm not I'm not again just not I'm just not vibing with kind of a semi open world kind of game right now and Again, I'm just I'm little sad that I'm getting my my power fantasy taken away from me because again, that sh that fucker got to block all my hits and then he gets to hit me and takes like half my health away. Okay, cool. Fuck that. I'm I don't have patience for this right now. Cause I got too many other things to do before other games come out. So but yeah, TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: Survivor, I might go back to it. right now, I I just kind of put it on the back burner for for right now and just try some play some smaller experiences and that are a bit more focused. TruVillain: Rest in peace to Calchestus. Tell me about Painted in Blood. Kainitsu: That game is TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: gotta be i I mean not really it is already, but could be real good. So this game is an indie TruVillain: Real good. Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: title. And just for all of you listeners and everyone, I'm probably gonna talk about a lot of indie games on the show. I end up kind of playing these more often these days because I feel like again, they're just doing more interesting things, they take more chances, they make stuff more focused for an audience and not trying to, you know, make the game for everybody. they want to make the game and their vision and you that's what you get. I wish that was more of that in the industry. but this is a really, really good indie title so far. has great art direction. it's got like like old FPS vibes and has like an old retro style to it, like these pixelated graphics and it's in three D environments. but it blends pretty well together, I feel like, with the art direction they went with. so it's not too out of place being in a three D environment, but having having like two D enemies fighting you, or like chasing TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: after you and stuff. and again, it's kind of like an old boomer shooter kind of thing. It's got old like some old old school you know, level design and everything. TruVillain: Yeah, this kinda reminds me of Bolt Gun a little bit in like the Yeah. Kainitsu: bolt gun. Yeah, it's got some of the some bolt gun vibes to it. Yeah. I TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: you can say that. but it's this this game Yeah. Yeah. It looks good. It feels good. Yes, that that's the the TruVillain: It does look nice. Like I'm looking at the screenshots and the gameplay and stuff too. Like it looks it looks nice. Now, it is early access though, and that's a big that's a big no no for me. Unless it's like yeah. 'Cause I just I don't know, I I like to play it when it's finished, you know. So Kainitsu: Right. You get the whole game, you don't have to wait for them to keep on working on it. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Mm. Especially something like this where it seems like it's kind of a a single player kinda like story game, maybe. Like Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: if if it's something like like a slay the spire or something like that, I'm much Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: more likely to kind of or like subnautica, like something that's like a little more open and you kinda get a full experience but more shit gets added to it over time. For something like this, I think I'd probably rather just wait. Do you know when it's supposed to be released? Kainitsu: Gotcha? I don't know. they're currently working on chapter two right now. that's again that's like the biggest drawback with this for right now is against the early TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: access, it's only got the first chapter, but this is like, again, kind of old school you know, TruVillain: Lame. Yeah. Kainitsu: game design. So like back in the day, as I'm an old man, you know, with its software, they were they were the big, big bad boys for FPSs at the time. They changed the whole genre and pretty much kind of invented it for what we have today. with Doom. And how they did it back then is that they would sell you parts of a game at a time on PC a lot of the time. And it feels like how it does these days. Like you're like, you're not giving me a full game. Well fuck that shit. But it also wasn't like they weren't asking like $70 for like like a tenth of a game, you know, or a third of a game. So they would they TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: would have like chapters and each chapter would have like like 10 levels and like have have a TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: a penultimate, you know kind of ending for the that chapter and all of that for a big boss that was building up to it and all of that. and yeah, so that's kind of what they're doing with this game. so there's replacing in chapters. I how do I don't know how many levels are in each chapter just yet. I'm still playing through this first one. but I'm really enjoying it. I haven't got to play it since the other night just to because I was preparing for you know upcoming show and just life. having to you TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: know have responsibilities and obligations and all that stuff. but I'm I'm really enjoying my time with this. I wish it worked fully completed, but I will still go ahead and say maybe buy this early. it's not that expensive. it's like they're yeah, TruVillain: Hmm. It's like ten bucks, I think. Kainitsu: they're pricing it at ten dollars. TruVillain: Pretty good. Kainitsu: it was on sale for me for like twenty percent or whatever, I bought it like eight bucks. I was like, okay, cool, you know, I'll I'll I'll just buy it, whatever. I bet it's been a trend for me here lately. I need to stop that. Like just keep on. TruVillain: Now are they gonna raise the are they gonna raise the price after one point They They usually announce that. Yeah, they they'll usually say that. Kainitsu: That's what I don't know. But a lot of times with early access, that's what they tend to do. Yeah, they'll they'll make an announcement more likely if they're going to or not. and yeah, so I don't know if they're going to raise the price after early access. if they do, you know, I'm not gonna hold it against them. Just hopefully it's be a fair price. maybe like, you know, twenty bucks, twenty-five. I can see that being like a good price for like this being completed because of all that it's doing so far early on chapter one. and it's very again, it's Already very well polished. It's very that's very focused on what it's wanting to do for its vision and everything. and what's funny about this is that again, this is a this is a you know, an indie title, not a very big game, just an FPS game. And like you said, it does have some narrative to it and it's it's actually kind of more thought thought-provoking than most other things I've played with, like triple A and like double A titles of stories and stuff. so It's not like a completely in your face, but like there are things you're gonna find throughout levels and everything. You're gonna find like like little diary entries or like letters or something that's talking to you more about the world. and like TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: for this person himself, like his name's I think Edward, and he he's he's a painter, he's an artist. And this is also an interesting time that they have it in too. It's not totally not too completely unexplored, but it's not something you see too often now these days. So It doesn't say outright, but I think this is taking like place like like right after the First World War or the Great War, in some places. TruVillain: The guns definitely look like World War One or two for sure. Some of them do. No. Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. It has that that kind of like vibe to it. You know, yeah, definitely. And so yeah, it takes around that mm? Well yeah, that's just 'cause yeah, well that hell yeah, I haven't TruVillain: Although some of the some some of the weapons just look demonic too, so it's kinda hard to it's kinda hard to say. Like one of them had like a buzz saw or something. Kainitsu: I haven't seen that one just yet, in the game. I only have up to basically like a again like a World War One World War One like machine gun. they TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: call it it's a stinger. but yeah, no. it's been fun getting like, you know, the trickle of of guns and everything. They do it the right way whenever they introduce a new weapon to you and like mechanic that they let you have a little playground with it for a second to get the idea of what you need to do. and again, yeah, it's just it's I'm sorry. I just it it bewilders me so much that again, these indie developers usually s a lot of times we just be one dude. or just like A few people, like a handful of people, maybe just ten people, make these games and they're just it just feels like a such a better experience in so many ways and what they're trying to do and explore. And like I said, this game is thought for broken in the way 'cause it's like the way it starts out, it gives you a a little little little epilogue and everything, kind of building up to the the fill and vibe of what you're gonna be getting into. and you basically start out in a really spooky house. and and it feels like you're gonna be, you know. kind of taking place of that because he ev he even says and makes a reference saying like I'm always in this house, I can't get out. There's just like some kind of like aura or presence and all of this going on. TruVillain: Sounds like me in high school. God damn. I'm always in this house. I can't get out. Kainitsu: Always in this house. I can't get out. why God wish me away from my mom. anyway. but yeah, no, but what what's making it thought provoking though is like, okay, so I was thinking like it's gonna be kind of like, well, maybe it's kind of like a room kind of situation, with Silent Hill where you're you're kind of exploring this going back to the same place, you're kind of like in the same place 'cause it's just like a really big house or whatever, cause video games. But no, it's made me start thinking many other things because there are some kind of some some foreshadowing that it might be trying to tell you with the with the environment and everything that you're coming across. So like dude has a wife, her name's Martha. he gets he gets drafted, goes to the war, you know, comes back. For many people who have to go through war, unfortunately, they come back a changed person. Understandable. PTSD, what you have to do or see, go through, lot. It's a lot. so it has a lot it touches a lot on that. But not like outright. It's like it's it's like it's subtle, but you know what it's talking about if you pick up, you know, pick up what it's doing. And so so you're going around and starting in the house and stuff, and then like you're starting to find stuff w belonging to Martha, like a shoe and like her dress like, but where's she where where is she? Here are her things. I'm finding them like pieces by pieces while I'm going throughout the house, but where is she? And it's like, shit. I started thinking about like going through a couple levels just after like reading stuff. I was like, wait a minute. Cause it started exp TruVillain: She she's at the neighbor's house, cheating on me. Kainitsu: no. But but but here's the thing. Like, so it TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: starts going venturing out more into like an actual world and outside of the house. I didn't think that was gonna happen. And like it, you know, it looks like a nightmare world. Like it's very surreal. TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: It doesn't seem like the world that should be that was after World War One. So I'm like, okay, so is this like did this guy? Come back from the war, started finding an outlet with paintings and art, became pretty renowned, making a name for himself. But coming back from war, got that PTSD. So maybe what's happening is he murdered his wife, and he's in kind of side of some kind of psychosis, and this is all in his head, going around and seeing TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: like all these. Mummies is up. Because not it doesn't give you any explanation as to why there's like monsters and shit like chasing you in in your home you can't get out of for whatever reason. Right. It's like you you feel like an an evil aura and presence going on. Like d that it's there cool, like I like it. It's spooky. it's coming up to spooky season. So alright, awesome. But it it's not explained. So I'm I'm feeling like, yeah, this dude might be going through some some kind of psychosis. He may have like murdered his wife, and the way he's trying to like like not make him feel like he's done that or something or grief and he's just going through all of this in his head or just actually still around his house, but just like, you know, completely hallucinating and everything. Cause like the like like it everything very feels very disjointed and disconnected how you get to the next level, basically. Like it kind of makes sense starting out from the first to the second, but then it starts not making a whole lot of sense. And again, it's like everywhere TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: you're walking and going has like, you know, like nightmare vibes and an aura going on like dude and then then the third level you go out into like this garden and the it's just a blood red sky. That's normal. You know? TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: So but yeah so I I I that's why I've I said like this feels really thought provoking of what they're doing and then like man there's there's one thing I want to talk about but if you do buy this game, I want you to experience it. And it's like in the third TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: third or fourth level and it goo dude it's like it's some heavy, heavy stuff with the storytelling it's telling you. Again it's not It's not all like narrated or everything. Some of it is like you'll come across like some paintings are basically like his work and it'll have like a little narration going on and you like collect the painting for like, you a collectible thing, video games. but yeah, you're gonna find most of the story and like what you're learning about the world just by finding like all again, like all these notes or like little diary entries or like letters scattered throughout that you're reading and kind of picking up what the stories or piecing the story together basically. But again, mechanically sound, very fun game. even though again, if it'd be a pure boomer shooter, you wouldn't have to reload. Because like those older games, like with Doom and everything, you there was no reload animation that wasn't really a function with most games. If it did, it was very novelty for certain games. Like you just didn't reload because you want to go boom boom shoot arcade game or arcade style gameplay. but no, TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: but even still, like the reloading is fun. I thought there was gonna be a lot more resource heavy. or resource like, you know, preserving kind of game. No, I've actually once I've finally, you know, got good getting moving around and getting good at aiming and shooting and learning the the weapons and stuff and then the abilities that you have to your disposal. yeah, that's not a big deal. Like I I have I a lot of times can't pick up ammo. I have too much. I'm up I'm backed or I'm at max. So TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Damn. Kainitsu: yeah, so so don't have to worry about that. But it it does get challenging in some areas depending on what's going on because it does it does like For the old school part of it, it's just very much arena shooter areas. Like there's gonna be certain areas at arenas that really literally says it's an arena for you to run around and shoot a bunch of enemies and stuff. But you know, it's it's fine. It's fun though. TruVillain: you have entered an arena. Kainitsu: Welcome to the arena. TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: but yeah, it's it's fun though. And I'm enjoying it. The good stuff. I'm still playing through it. TruVillain: Fantastic. Kainitsu: I'm gonna finish that first chapter. But yeah, if if you guys like this kind of gameplay. Like those kind of games, looking for something a little different, not done take too much of your time right now. check out Painted and Blood, ten dollar game. Show these developers some or dev some love, because it is a really, really good game so far. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: It certainly sounds interesting. I mean I I'm I'm a sucker for the for the the the story and the lore and the the edge lordiness and this seems like it has now to answer a couple of my questions, I went to their Steam page. Kainitsu: Mm. Okay. TruVillain: to how long it will be in early access. They've it's gonna be three chapters. They estimate two to three years of time at least. Kainitsu: Hm. Okay. TruVillain: let's see. Also, will it be priced yeah, will it be priced Kainitsu: That's not too bad actually, depending on how big the team is. TruVillain: Differently it says to reflect the early access nature of the game, painted to blow will launch with a special low price for its fans and followers, so it does sound like it's gonna go up. Kainitsu: Okay, so if you buy it in early access, get a good deal. It will go up in price, TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: which isn't a bad thing. And the same thing happened with another great ending game I love, which is very so good. it's a Dundra Crawler FPS. It it harkens back to like the old Kingsfield games and anything everything. It's called Lunacid or Lunacid, however you want to pronounce it. yeah, I bought that for like seven bucks, but when it did the 1.0 release, it was like 12, 15 bucks. But again, I don't I don't blame that for Dell developers. Again, it's cool because like they're getting the funding they need. yeah, yeah, yeah. TruVillain: Well, you're getting more of yeah, we're getting more of a product at the end of it, right? So I mean, like, you know, it makes sense to have like a lower looks like the first chapter isn't actually done yet either. So I mean you yeah, you there's apparently yeah, according to this page, I mean there's Kainitsu: A buy in, yeah. shit, really? I thought it was done. no. TruVillain: yeah, you're you have very little of the game. Like you're sounds like you just have like the tutorial right now or the the prologue rather. No that's what I meant to say. Yeah. Kainitsu: no no no. yeah. Well yeah, kind of. But I mean i I've I've already gone through like four four or five levels already. And they've they've all been about like twenty, thirty minutes, depending on how how long you're taking to like explore, find secrets, and take out the arenas TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: with enemies and stuff. but I'm sad if TruVillain: Nice. Kainitsu: the chapter one's not completed because dude that but I TruVillain: Yeah. Dude, I couldn't I couldn't play this right now. I'm I'm so like I I hate that House of Dragon is releasing one episode a week, you know, and that's I I hate that. Much less like I play the badass game. Dude, I suffered while Bordersgate 3 was in early access. I was so mad at them, Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: man. Like I sat there just looking at it. Every single day was Kainitsu: Ha ha. TruVillain: an exercise of me not coming home and buying Baldur's Gate 3. Kainitsu: Just just they're staring at the page. TruVillain: And then until release day. Yeah. And even after release day they still added so much fucking shit to it, but Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah. they've done it they did a lot with that game and then they're they're they're basically done at this point. Like they announced a long time that did the last really big update and some yeah, they're TruVillain: yeah, they're done now. Kainitsu: like we've we've made it to what it needs to be. It's what it is. We'll do some small hot fixes here and there, but it is it is a very good game. It is a masterpiece. Yes. It it is it is TruVillain: And it's fucking perfect is what it is. No, it is very perfect. It is fantastic. So Kainitsu: as perfect as you can get with a video game or any type of media, honestly. Yeah. It's to exist. A product that you buy. but yeah. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Or anything ever of anything. Yeah. Alrighty. Anything else you gotta say on Painted in Blood? Kainitsu: no, I'm I'm done with the paint in the blood. I I'm sad to hear that maybe chapter one's not completed. But either way, I still feel like it's worth buying into right now, just to have TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: it at at a you know a cheaper price. Or if you want to wait until it's completed and still support them with the, you know, a higher price tag, you can do that too. But it is it is very fun. It is a very good game. TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah, I may I may pick it up just to throw some throw some support and then play it later. 'Cause Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. TruVillain: it does look really nice. I mean it just looking at the screenshots and the videos and stuff, it looks really good. Kainitsu: Dude, it's it it feels so good with mouse and keyboard, dude. TruVillain: Mm. Alrighty. Well, I guess we'll move on to me. I'm still kind of surfing the backlog, in the wake of nothing being released and having a month until the things that I'm excited about come out and Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: all the all this talk of, you know, id layoffs and and things like that. I was like, yeah, let's Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: go let's go check in on id. I I only Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: ever played Doom twenty sixteen. I did beat it. Yeah. Kainitsu: Really? Okay. TruVillain: And so I never played Eternal or Dark Ages. So I was like, well, let me they had it on sale. It was like $17. It's also on like Game Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: Pass and stuff, but I'd rather just buy it than fucking pay a subscription to it. So I bought Kainitsu: Right. TruVillain: it with both expansions. and so I got Doom Eternal and I've been playing that. I mean w it's good, right? Like, I mean that's obvious. Like people love it for good reason. It is really good. all straight off the rip, I mean, the music, the visuals, the art style, all that stuff. Last week we were talking about Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: like Splitgate and stuff not having. I mean, this game just Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: just has it. And it has the lore, like everything in there, you Kainitsu: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. TruVillain: know, you're reading this this over the top nonsense where you're like, man, you know, like yeah, I just ran up on some dude forgot what his name is, but he's like the betrayer, you know, and you like read Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. yeah, yeah. TruVillain: this yeah, yeah, you read this story about how like like his h his like this demon tricked him into betraying the fucking knights and stuff. And like it's it's really good. I had a had a bit of an issue with the shooting. I kind of got it dialed in. It just wasn't feeling too good to me. Kainitsu: Mm. Okay. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: But I went in, got some settings. I hate the jumping puzzles. The jumping puzzle stuff sucks. It sucks ass. As someone who's also playing Destiny, too with the friends, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: like kind of on the side, that game is like fucking fifty percent jumping puzzles. I hate them there too. But they Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah. TruVillain: are better. Like the 'cause the movement mechanics are better in Destiny than Doom. 'Cause in Doom they're so like they're so stiff, you know? Like they're really locked in. Kainitsu: D depends, my friend. you playing with a controller? Yeah. you can play with the controller. It's an option, but this game, it the experience is mouse and keyboard. I hate to be that person. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: I've never been that person until more recently. I understand it now. but but yeah, no, if you were to play this with mouse and keyboard, I feel like you would have a little bit different experience about how you feel about the movement and like the the gunplay. TruVillain: Yeah, well yeah, it's fine. It's just yeah, I mean right now I'm just I wanna kick back with the controller, you know. I mean I I I Kainitsu: I gotcha. Nothing wrong with that. TruVillain: usually play as if it was competitive I'd be on the mouse and keyboard, but you know, it just Kainitsu: Okay, okay. TruVillain: with it with it being a single player one, I'm not focused on my k you know, K D ratio being Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: and and even even on the controller, I mean ultra I'm playing on ultraviolence and it's Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: I don't wanna say easy, but it's it's not too hard, right? Like it Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: I would put it I would put it about like it it's very comparable to like heroic and Halo. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: It's very similar to that. Kainitsu: Yeah. Well here's the thing. So like in the original Doom games, ultraviolence was like the hardest difficulty, but they changed it obviously with the more modern ones 'cause they're like fucking fifteen different difficulties. TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: and ultraviolence is like the fourth one. It's like, that's when it kind of starts getting a little hard, but not too bad. I like I I I played on Ultraviolence. It again, it's not because again, you're you're just not not not the Doom guy anymore. You're the Doom Slayer. TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: So Like again, you don't want to necessarily have like a full on power fantasy with it with the being an FPS, but with you being the Doom Slayer, yeah, a little bit of that. So you get that TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: more so with ultraviolence, but you also get challenged with it too, you know. TruVillain: Yeah, it's definitely I mean it kicks your ass in some like there's some arenas where Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: you're like, Really, bro, you really just you put all this in here, did ya? but I mean for the most part, I mean I'm kinda just going through it. It's it's like that's the stuff I like, but like I I I am struggling with just the ADHD nature of the game. Like it's I I'm one of those people I like slowing down and like just looking at stuff, like Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: reading stuff. But like you're just zooming like a fucking scroll everywhere. Doom twenty sixteen was the same way. And I Kainitsu: Mm. Yeah. TruVillain: wish that there was like a toggle where you could like toggle off that slow down, you know, and then kind of just walk around, look at the environments and the and explore the secrets and 'cause there's some secrets that are actually hard to get just because you move so fucking fast. Like you're trying Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: to like go up in this vent and you're like, God damn it, you keep fucking just missing it. And it's just I don't know. It's it's fine. I it it's that type of game. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: the other thing that I kinda don't like about it is it's hyperbalanced. Like it's very dialed in. It's very Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep. TruVillain: there are too many mechanics in this game too. Like they someone got too fucking cute. Like there there there needs to be like three less mechanics in this game. Like you have the chainsaw to get ammo. You have all the you have the the two mods on each weapon. You have the suit mods, you have the grenade, you have the fire to get armor. You have the like dude, it just goes on. Like it there's so much. Kainitsu: Mm, mm, mm-hmm. TruVillain: And you have all these little tiny icons. You have the blood punch. You just Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: all these little tiny icons on the screen. And it's like, bro, like this is just and it's all super balanced and super specific in a way that I think actually kind of takes away from it because like I kind of I wish it had more of a sandbox kind of nature. Because what's fun about a sandboxy kind of game, like you kind of see it with like Halo. where you get all these toys and you figure out how to use them. But in this game, they all have a very specific use. You know what I mean? And like you you have to kind of it's almost like an MMO feel where you have to kind of have this rotation of things you're doing. You know, it's like, all right, I'm gonna leave these small guys because they're ammo. I'm Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yep. TruVillain: gonna go over here, put some rounds into this dude's arms, blow them off with this specific weapon because that's what does it. Now go over here, get some ammo, turn around, get some armor from this guy. And then it's just this it's this loop that. It's fun, but it's about the game becomes about executing the loop rather than getting in there and and kind of experimenting around. Because you kinda can, but you're not rewarded for experimentation because anything outside of the loop is going to be less effective. It's not like you go outside Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: of the loop and you're like, I found this overpowered combination of things to make this happen. So in a in that sense, actually, I'm kind of like I'm back and forth with it. Like I'm having fun. And then after about an hour, I'm like, all right, like I'm c I think I'm done for tonight. Like, you know what I mean? It's kind of because you just Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah. TruVillain: it's it's it's a lot, but it's really limiting in a weird way Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: that I'm just not fond of, to be perfectly honest with you. And I'm hoping Kainitsu: Mm. Okay. TruVillain: I don't bounce off of it. I hope I don't come back next week and I'm like I bounced off this thing, but I might because like what I want out of this sho what I want out of a shooter like this is experimentation. Right. Like I that's what's kind of fun to me. You have these big arenas full of all these demons and all these like crazy weapons. And it's like, well, let me fuck around with them, have fun, see if maybe I can like find some god mode type shit. Cause I mean, like in Dark Souls, like all these great games, like they are pretty balanced in ways, but also you can break these motherfuckers, right? Like you can find these combinations of things and you kind of get over it's it's fun. But like in this game, like you have to be like dialed in to the loop. And that's what I'm calling it is the loop. Because if you're not doing the loop. Ya fucked up. Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: Ya fucked up. Kainitsu: Yeah. yeah. yeah, you know, you those are those are some fair criticisms. I d I man, whenever so I I never beat Doom twenty sixteen. I did enjoy it for a time, but I I I the gameplay loop with that one I kind of I kinda fell out of because again, it was just like hallway arena, hallway arena, hallway arena, hallway arena. and there was some verticality verticality. to as well because you got to you got the double jump on all that eventually throughout the story or the campaign. But it yeah, I guess it kind of kind of felt a lot a lot of samey. Again, you're just you're just going through, you know, science facility on Mars and then you're outside in Mars and then you're back TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: inside of a science facility and it all kind of fucking looks the same. You know? but then Duna Du Thermal comes out like, my god. Like you get variety. There's different places. You you get different scenery. You get different like Textures and color and TruVillain: Yeah, I just left the I just left the ice planet, I think, or the the cultist the cultist base Kainitsu: Okay, okay. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: I think is I finished that. So Kainitsu: Gotcha. Yeah. That's about that's almost halfway through, I think, the the the vanilla vanilla campaign. and I will say about what your about your issue with the the loop. So again the TruVillain: The loop. Kainitsu: the loop. so it s it starts off kind of stilted again, like you said, you kinda have like, I have to use this for this, for this, for this. If I don't do it that way, I'm gonna lose. Cause you also have to again, it's like you said, it's got a little bit of an ADHD energy. to it because, you know, it's it's very it's a very fast paced The Doom Squirrel. TruVillain: A lot. You're like a fucking squirrel. You're the you're the doom squirrel is what you are. Like like it's Yeah. Yeah, it's it's it's crazy. Kainitsu: Yeah, no, yeah, I get I get that. But I mean that was also kind of like the whole thing with like older, like old school Doom. Like it it was very fast for especially for that time. Even now, depending on how how you want to play the game, it's honestly very rudimentary in a lot of ways, but it was very fast paced, especially for that era. and yeah, that's what people loved about Doom 2016, 'cause it brought a lot of that back, TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: like that high energy and everything. but Doom Eternal just like it went to a whole TruVillain: Sure. Kainitsu: total different level. And it's like, why TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: yes, I want this. But yeah, but starting out though with the weapons and only being in certain situations where you have to use them for specific enemies and stuff like that, there is that throughout, but it's kind of like you get, you know, get the the little blue balls effect in a lot of these games where it's like you don't get all of the equipment and weapons right away. Cause again, yes, there are all a lot of systems, there are a lot of things you can do with mods, and there's a lot of different like runes and stuff that you can do to and like increase your weight while you're playing 'cause like th one one of the best things you can you can equip yourself for a rune is whenever you're in midair and you're aiming, you slow down time for like one to three seconds or whatever. TruVillain: Yeah, I've I've got the one where I think I got two. I got one where like you get further glory kills from further away. And Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Okay. TruVillain: I th I have the other one, I think you get like a second life or something. It like slows down, like you die and you get back up Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mm. TruVillain: and it slows time. Kainitsu: Gotcha. Yeah. and aga and again, as you get more of those throughout when you get like when you find all of them, 'cause again TruVillain: And that's another system too, by by the way. That's a whole n another system on top of it. Kainitsu: Yeah. Yeah. And then there's then there's a level system or for for health and there's there's a system to to TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah. Kainitsu: make it to where you make you get more ammo. Ammo is very again, it's also very resource finite in this one as well. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: but as you're able to upgrade your weapons and stuff and to be able to hold more ammo going further in the game, it makes it a little bit better. But then once you do have like all the weapons and like you've been able to focus on like your masteries of what you want to for those weapons, it it you get more of the sandbox you're looking for. and there's TruVillain: Yeah, I just I I just wish you didn't have to go that far with it 'cause I feel like it should be 'cause like I I love mechanics. Like I this Kainitsu: Right. It should be like more immediate. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: whole rant like I love all of that, but like it needs to be in service of making a build, you know, where like Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: let's say I really like the fucking micro missiles on my fucking gun. Like, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: let me just exploit the fuck out of like really just build Kainitsu: Ha ha. TruVillain: towards that and just 'cause like Again, the other shooter I'm kinda playing just in the background is Destiny Two. And it it ha like Destiny Two has a lot of mechanics. Like there's a lot of stats. Like everything has Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: stats and it but it all comes together. Like you can really break some shit and really just kinda have some fun with it. and get in there. And then this game just it's so just it's almost like sterile. Like they built it in a science lab, right? Like they went they just they they took the game and they broke it into particles and they analyzed it under a microscope and they put it together. And like I respect it, like I do, but it loses fun for me 'cause I can see it. Like I can see the ones and Kainitsu: okay. TruVillain: zeros as I'm playing it. Like I'm not experiment. It's like, all right, I see what you did here, it. Y you know, and I I have to do the loop. I gotta do the loop. I gotta do it. Yeah. Kainitsu: Gotta do the loop. The loop-de-loop. If I don't do the loop, I'm not I'm not a loopin'. TruVillain: Yeah, and so it and it's so I don't know, it it kinda clashes with my love of the world and the art and the music and the the all like I all that stuff. Like the the Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: gameplay is actually odd, like I said, kinda letting me down a little bit. It's kinda letting me down. Kainitsu: Right. Right. TruVillain: 'cause it's just and I'm of two minds, 'cause again, I respect what they've done here, but I've often railed against hyperbalancing games. Like I don't like when people do it. unless it's like a competitive, you know, if obviously, you know, you need to be hyper competitive, but like Like it's single player games, like it's fun to break you know, and it's fun to find stuff that's that's it's just needs to be fun. And this game has such potential to kind Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: of have that fun. But it feels like a competitive shooter, but it's single player. You know? Kainitsu: Right. Yeah, I get that. TruVillain: And it's it's just it's I don't know. Which it kind of clashes with the whole like goofy, you know, this is a video game kind of theme it's having. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Because you kind of have that clash with like this kind of like grim, dark, super campy, you know, almost Warhammer 40k kind of Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: story. And then you have like glowing health pickups that no one kind of questions. You know, people like, hmm. Kainitsu: Right, right. TruVillain: You just have a glowing head that says one up over there. And Doomslayer's like, that makes sense. Kainitsu: That's gonna revive me. That makes total sense. I know what one up means. I played Mario. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, which I don't I don't have an issue with that stuff. I it is, I think, funny and campy to have that stuff in there like that. It's just I love all of that. But again, it's Kainitsu: Right. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: it's just the the the way they've they've done it is just Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: to me unfortunate because what ends up happening is like none of it feels good. Like because it's it feels like why like when you get the missile launcher, you're like, I got the missile launcher, but it doesn't feel any more powerful. than the standard shotgun, which doesn't feel any more powerful than the super shotgun, and so on and so forth. Like it Kainitsu: Yeah. Hmm. TruVillain: you get the super shotgun and because it's so balanced, it doesn't feel any more powerful than the regular shotgun. Kainitsu: Actually no, it it is. the the the super shotgun lives up to its name in this game. and I was gonna I didn't know I forgot the level you just went through, so I mic. I hope I didn't make too many mad noises. Yeah. Yeah, so you just Yeah. Mm-hmm. Well, it it TruVillain: Mm. I just got it, like not that long ago. Not having used it that much, but I mean they limit it with ammo, I think, but Kainitsu: uses uses regular shotgun ammo. It's just that since you're using the super shotgun, it does it shoots two at the same time, so it uses two. Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna use more ammo at tone. Yeah. TruVillain: Yeah, use it as yeah, that's what I mean. Like it burns through it faster. Which also every gun in this game just fuck c like you run out of ammo like constantly. And that's how they get you to keep engaging in the loop 'cause it's like, well, you can't hoard ammo, you gotta get that chainsaw out boy, go and you know, it's Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yep. Yeah. Yep. The loop. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep. Yep. You don't have backpacks to increase your ammo either on the way. You got to you have to painstakily find things for a crystal to be like, this crystal's gonna make me have more ammo. Cause video games. TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah, it's it's just a game where I feel like I should be able to be like, I got this cool ass weapon, I'm gonna go ham with it. Not I got this cool ass weapon, let me put it away because I'm gonna need it for a cacko demon later. And I gotta make sure I have it so that Kainitsu: Right. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: when I get to the loop where I'm fighting the cacko demon, I have this gun, you know. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I I I I can understand that. But like I said, it it it it's I get where you're coming from. It's not giving you like the sandbox experience you want right away, especially with getting like this many weapons at this point. getting it kind of gives you blue balls when it comes to like, you know, getting your equipment and the weapons and like what you can do with weapons and you know, getting your runes and everything. Because can build some broken builds. It just takes it's a it's a slow trickle, unfortunately. But they kind of ease you into it because they do introduce, you know, different enemies throughout. And like, you know, we bring in new enemies from the older games they had have in in 2016, you know, like arch vials and stuff like that. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: so they kind of ease you into it you can kind of like, okay, so I can do this with this kind of weapon with this enemy. And then of course you have the the mods where you get to choose which one you want to use at the time. You can swap between them and all that. and some are gonna be better in other situations, obviously. and then of course there's the whole masteries thing, which that came from twenty sixteen. and twenty sixteen had a lot of systems too, man. You had like the fucking like Prater suit orbs and shit to make you more powerful and give you like more arm armor and and health and stuff and yeah. Yeah, yeah, TruVillain: Yeah. Well yeah, to be like I said before though, I don't care about systems. Like you can have Kainitsu: true. TruVillain: a thousand in there, but like let me have fun with them. The systems Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah. TruVillain: in this game feel like again they're like scientifically woven together to create Kainitsu: Yes. Yeah. Hmm. TruVillain: like this balanced way they want you to play. And you know, and and again, I think it's a very good game. I just think that it may be a very good game that's not for me. Like you Kainitsu: It TruVillain: know I mean? Kainitsu: mm. So it's very s it is very s surgical. It is very calculated how they did everything. I it I don't know. I guess we're just in two different spaces at this time with this kind of game. So I I I en I like I well, I just was in love with Eternal once it came out. I waked it way more than twenty sixteen. and TruVillain: Well, I love that kind of shit in like in like competitive games. Like if you're gonna be competitive, yeah, absolutely. Like Kainitsu: Right. Hmm? TruVillain: I think that like like I love Overwatch too when that game is like balanced pretty well. The I mean, there's people that Kainitsu: That's fuck. TruVillain: will like argue with you, especially when they add new characters and stuff, but they Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: they keep a pretty tight lid on the balance in that game, for the most part. Mm hmm. Yeah, and though yeah. Kainitsu: they're always rebalancing that game, dude. They're always like just like this the thing about like multiplayer games and like especially competitive stuff. Like, you know, they rebalanced this thing and now this is broken. Doesn't work good no more. Then they bought this other thing. TruVillain: Do you remember a game like do you remember a game early in this generation called Outriders? Kainitsu: Sounds familiar? TruVillain: Like a co op like kind of a co op sh third person shooter. You have like powers and abilities and stuff like that. Kainitsu: are you thinking of outlaws? Outriders? TruVillain: No outriders. Yeah, it's called Outriders. Kainitsu: The same thing. It's basically who a a a hero shooter. TruVillain: It's not that game anyway. I love that game. And that game is like Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: it's it's has a lot of systems, but like you can really like in this co-op game, there's no competitive but like you can really just get in there and like fuck shit up. Like I made this Kainitsu: Hell yeah. TruVillain: volc I made this volcano build where I like just conjure volcanoes from the ground. And I I Kainitsu: All right. TruVillain: found all these cool weapon mods and armor mods that all fed into it that gave me like infinite volcanoes, and so we would just like go into a map and I'm just fucking Vesuvious everywhere. And it's awesome, you know. And I feel like I feel like Doom has that energy where it's like I I need to go in here and just start like fucking fucking shit up, you know. and not Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Again, like I said, TruVillain: you know. Kainitsu: it it's just it's just slow trickle, unfortunately. But planet, I will tell you this though. So it's cool that you basically got like the whole game and like you get the whole game. You got both expansions and the the vanilla for like twenty bucks. That's a really good deal, by the way. 'Cause it's like a a hundred dollar game. but i if you if you play through the the vanilla campaign again towards the end, you're gonna have more Tools at your disposal and all of that. with the first ancient gods DLC. That's probably gonna give you more of the sandboxy thing you want right away. Cause again, you're gonna already have basically all your tools from the campaign over and ready to go. You already have stuff mastered for yourself or your weapon progression, how you wanted to play to begin with. Once you've figured out what you wanted to do, you do all your builds with your runes and stuff. you have all the get the double dash, you got the the blood punches like upgraded and all that stuff. so yeah, it it it's it was hoping that you mastered all of that movement and everything. right from the get go with the first one because it is very difficult. It's it is not it is not for the faint of heart. so if you're wanting to play those DLCs, you need to play them, especially the first one, like right after you beat the game because I played it way after, you know, the vanilla version released. And I got I felt old TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: and slow and I could not I just couldn't keep up with it because I was like, I haven't played this game in like a year. TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I I'll see. It may just be a time and place thing. Sometimes I I bounce off stuff and then I I Kainitsu: Mm. Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: decide I'm just in the mood for something. I'm also a little antsy just because I'm in, you know, backlog season and there's a whole bunch of backlog Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: looking at me. That I have I only have like less than a month now to squeeze into. Actually I think exactly a month till Blood of the Dawnwalker comes out. So Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep. TruVillain: Blood of Dawnwalker. yeah. Kainitsu: What I've done, Walker. TruVillain: So yeah, I I don't know, we'll see. That's that's Doom Eternal though. I mean, I I don't know that I've said anything that I haven't heard some other people say about it in the Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: past. I mean, it's it's one of those you're either gonna like what they did here. From what I understand, Dark Ages i is different. It is more they kind of throw out a lot of this and Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: kind of do have more of a sub Dark Ages may be the game for me, quite frankly. Kainitsu: Maybe. that's the most divisive out of the three. TruVillain: Yeah. I'm surprised this one isn't because like I don't know, man. Like I feel like you have to really want a very specific thing out of Doom to enjoy Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: this game, 'cause like, I don't know. But anyway, that's Doom Eternal. Kainitsu: Doom eternal. TruVillain: I think again, just to be clear to anyone who's like screaming at the fucking phone right now or whatever you're listening to this on, like I think it's a great game. Like I can Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: I can I have enough like respect for the genre to to be able to say something's good but also it's not for me, right? Like Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Gotcha. Yeah, yeah. TruVillain: it's very good, but not for me. Like versus this is trash and shouldn't be for anyone, you know. Kainitsu: Yeah. And I and I've had experiences with other games like that. It's like, hey, you know what? It is a well crafted game. It has these things. TruVillain: Yeah. And it's a shame 'cause I love shooters. Like I I think I'm a big shooter guy. Like it's not that I don't like shooters. I mean I always talk about RPGs and stuff on Kainitsu: Right. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: the show and strategy games. I I mean my roots are in shooters and I love them. It's just a a single I like a big sandboxy kinda either that or I like it it has to have like a really good ass story, which Doom doesn't. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Like it's not a good a it's it's fun, it's campy, it's interesting, but it's not it's not compelling, right? And so you're he the gameplay is what's compelling you through it and I think the gameplay is not Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Well TruVillain: very compelling. Kainitsu: well, I will say this, like once you kind of like play through through Eternal and stuff, there is a particular YouTuber I watch that does like really interesting lore videos, but he kind of stays around certain IPs, but I guess that's also the ones he's interested in, though. he does a lot of like Valve like Half Life and like portal lore and stuff. He's done lore for Fable. does like deep dives in that. he actually does a lot of deep dives for for Doom and man like the like the stuff that's not told to you like throughout these modern games, and then also the first one, or the first one's obviously because like John Carmack, his real quote was story in a video game is like story in a porn or is there, but you don't care about it. yeah, right. That's a that's that's age like fucking milk. TruVillain: Hmm, I don't agree with that statement at all. Come on, John Carmack. Kainitsu: Yeah, I he's like TruVillain: Come on, homie. Kainitsu: he's a supercomputer genius com fucking programmer who's done crazy shit. Back in them days. Haha. TruVillain: Well, I back in the back in them days, but I wasn't even born yet. So like I mean I it was a different time, right? Like a different era. And back in those back in them days, you had to kinda Kainitsu: Right. Back in them days. TruVillain: I guess you kinda thought I could see where you would think that, but I'm such a story slut dude. Like I mean Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: 'cause even like the games I play were like they're really mechanically driven. Like I make like like paradox games, like you make your own stories, you know, like those are still very story driven. You're just writing the story based on everything that's happening. so but yeah that I mean that's that's doom eternal. Like I said we'll we'll see next week if I'm still kind of sticking with it or abandoning it. Like, yeah. Yeah, I I had you too 'cause Kainitsu: Well I hope I hope you do. I hope you do. 'cause it is it's a good experience. TruVillain: I again it's one of those that you you just want to love it, right? Like you want to. It's just you can't it's so hard. Kainitsu: Mm. You just mm yeah, dude. I hate I hate dude, I hate that when there's like things that, you know, other people really enjoy and you wanna be able to enjoy it too, but then you just you just don't. TruVillain: Well, it hits like I mean if if there's like if there's like four or f let's say if there's five parameters of like this is a true villain game that he's gonna love, it hits probably four of You know, Kainitsu: Hm. TruVillain: like three or four of Like i and so you're you just want that last one to hit. It's just that last one is maybe the most important. And so yeah. Kainitsu: Instead of running on five cylinders is only on four. TruVillain: Yeah, so I don't know, we'll see. Anyway, Kainitsu: Alright then we'll TruVillain: that's all I got on that. we will now be getting on to the news. Which not a lot this week to be honest, compare I kinda had to c scrap in the bottom of the of the pen here. Kainitsu: Well, I mean it's okay, go ahead. TruVillain: Yeah, outside of maybe this first one, you know. I kind of wanted to to just approach this kind of more just holistically because there's been some more stuff kind of coming out of it. And that is the the disc lisk future of the consoles, which we already Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: enjoy over here on the PC. but it's definitely it's it's it's it's come coming coming to roost, I think they say, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: for the consoles, especially and Sony is kind of you know, at the at the forefront of that. And so there's been over Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: the past week there's been a lot of a lot of protests, a lot of response Sony finally responded to it. And Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: I kinda just wanted to kind of give a give an overview of that. I kinda Kainitsu: Okay. TruVillain: want to start with the protest 'cause that kinda happened sooner. So if Kainitsu: Really? All right. TruVillain: you're unfurfil yeah, if you're unfamiliar with what happened, Sony came out and was like, Hey, after twenty twenty eight, we will no longer make or support the making of discs. four hour consoles, which we'll get into this in a little bit, but if you're surprised by that, you've been kind of living under a rock because I mean gaming's kind of been going that direction for a while. but nevertheless, people were very furious. They were very Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: furious to the point of there's this planned Sony blackout thing that's Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: gonna happen and so it was put out by some folks who I don't know exactly who the folks are. I know I got it off this Does It Play, but I don't know if they're they're organizing it. But Kainitsu: I think I think they are they're part of it. They're I think they're part of the whole TruVillain: It seems kind of disorganized to be honest with you. which you you might expect. Yeah, you might Kainitsu: I mean when w when is something on the internet not? You know. TruVillain: expect. It's not a it's not an official group doing it, but hold on just Kainitsu: Mm. Yeah, yeah. but I was gonna say those I think I think these people are part of the like the game preservation preservation movement. I forgot there's TruVillain: huh. Kainitsu: like a bit of big there's a whole website for it and stuff. I forgot the actual name. I think it's like Save Games or something. I don't remember, but they might be part of that probably. TruVillain: Yeah. So I wanna kind of read this statement that they put out and I wanna kinda like I may stop in the middle and just kinda break down so Kainitsu: Yeah, okay. TruVillain: just kinda kinda not spend too much time on it because I don't think it's gonna go anywhere, spoiler alert. but anyway, for several years now, Sony Interactive Entertainment has continued to grow further apart from its fan base. I think that statement's probably true. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Whether it's closing beloved studios like Blue Point pursuing a misguided live service strategy canceling fan events, leaving PSVR2 to die, are being completely out of touch with the franchises players want to see return. PlayStation has never felt more disconnected from its community. So the problem I have with this statement straight away is Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: it is all over the fucking place. Like Kainitsu: Mm, mm-hmm. TruVillain: if you are going to if you're gonna have a have a battle, you need to know what the fuck you're fighting for. We're We're i we're currently fighting for discs, right? Like in this little statement here, this is what we're trying to bring back. But you're talking about closing studios, you're talking about live service, canceling fan events, leaving Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: PS VR to die. No one wants VR. Like VR is such a niche little like the p the VR scene is on PC, first off. you're frozen. Hold on just a Kainitsu: Am I? TruVillain: second. Yeah. are you still here? Kainitsu: Yes. TruVillain: Okay, yeah, your your little photo's frozen. As long as you're still here, I'm good. Kainitsu: should be should be okay. Maybe maybe something. TruVillain: Okay. the face you're frozen on is hilarious too. Kainitsu: I just see myself on you know on camera. So TruVillain: okay. Well maybe it's fine. but anyway. so yeah, they they're talking about closing studios on here. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: like I said, VR two, like the PS VR two never did well. But anyway, yeah, I mean PlayStation, I mean I will say it s does feel disconnected from his com you know, it just like a lot of corporations, they're kind of going into like that sterile Okay, now you're you're gone. Hold on. All right, we are back after some brief technical issues, a little bit of a break there. but anyway, that was Kainitsu: Professionals. TruVillain: yeah, the only thing I was saying was yeah, I do think PlayStation has become very like sterile. They've kind of stopped communicating Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: with the g I mean that's that's just like the corporations of today, right? Like they've kind of just fallen in line with that, which I mean I think sucks, but it is what it is. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: anyway, ending physical discs in twenty twenty eight feels like the last straw. We understand there is only so much SIE can control, but with the decisions that are within its control, the company continues to mismanage the strong position it inherited from the PS4 era. There are so many issues with PlayStation right now that bringing back physical games would only be meeting players halfway. There is still much more SIE can do. We miss Twisted Metal, SOCOM, Sly Cooper, the R and Resistance. We miss PlayStation Experience. We miss Japan Studio. So again We are getting very sidetracked here, like with our mission Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: statement. Like we're trying to bring back physical discs or stop the eradication of them. And in this whole paragraph here, we're talking about again, we're only meeting players halfway. There's still so much Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: you could do. Bring back twisted metal and SOCOM. It's like, bro, no one has given a fuck about twisted metal or SOCOM in a very long time. I never did, quite frankly. But I know Older people probably like those. I had a friend actually who was way into SOCOM. But anyway. With that, we are calling on PlayStation players to participate in an economic and gameplay blackout from Sunday, August twenty third, local time, blah blah blah. Through Sunday, August thirtieth, so seven days. Players can participate by turning off their consoles or logging out for seven days. We feel that this period gives publishers and developers minimal impact while still giving players a voice. So again You're very confused. Why would Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: you want to do a blackout with minimal damage to publishers and developers? Like, what's the point of the blackout? So if you do a blackout that does no damage, gets nobody mad at Sony, why in the fuck are they gonna look at your blackout and be like, well, we need to change. We need to go back on this. Like, I don't, it's such a I respect where they're coming from. Let me just say that. Straight away before I go on this little rant that is gonna make this whole news thing. like I think that like it does suck that if you like discs you're losing them, right? But Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: at the same time, I think you should have seen it coming, right? Like, I mean, consoles have just been going that way for a while now. They kinda had their little hybrid thing. The PS five pro doesn't even come with a fucking disc drive. You have to buy it separate. Like they're they've been kind of nudging you for years. And I've seen the the sentiment Of well, if you just gave us just gave us through the PS6 to get used to it. It doesn't matter if they do it tomorrow. It doesn't matter if they do it five years from now, you're still gonna be pissed. These same like ten people who are upset about this are still gonna be fucking pissed, no matter what time period you do it in. And so anyway, that's the statement that they're putting out. Like the the the closest thing to an organized resistance to this this decision to Sony. And I think it's very confused. I think it's very all over the place. They bring in stuff that I think just confuses the issue that that Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: you know, is unnecessary. And so, before we get to the next part, did you have any thoughts on on that statement or you know? Kainitsu: I It's not gonna do anything. Like TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: just to be a nihilist and pessimistic, it's it's not gonna do anything. They're a fucking company. They have investors that they have to, you know, the fiduciary responsibility to do, make sure they have infinite growth. So they don't care about your little woes, they don't care about you wanting to have a physical copy. I mean, for the most part, anyway, whenever you did buy a disc, they didn't think they didn't they're you're owning this. It's a license. They've always looked at you licensing. their games, even if you bought it on a disc. and that you got to use said license with the thing that you bought it on because there you go. And when it was physical, you know, a little bit easier to fill, but more ownership because hey, I have this thing, it plays on this thing and it's going to play on the thing and I got it. a lot more different now. You know, we we brought it up before when they first announced this, but you know, with a lot of games now, even if you get the physical disc, it's not going to have the full game on there. It's going to have like a a he a crazy fucking day one patch. or again, if it does have the game on there, it's gonna be a broken mess because it can't update to give you the finished TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: version of it. So like I I understand the sentiment and I get the under the understanding of like, you know, game preservation and like you know, you know, like consumer rights and ownership and things of that nature. but at the same time, it's like what are you gonna do? What are you what are you gonna do? Like I I I know it doesn't necessarily cost them way more to make physical discs. Like I like again, I'm not a business person. Maybe. Yeah, that's true. TruVillain: Well it might. I mean it's production, it's shipping, it's I mean they I mean it's it's obvious i if it was worth the squeeze, like the ju like they would still be doing it, right? Like and we have a couple more examples we're gonna get into in a minute, where I don't think it is. Like I think that the numbers are tra a lot lower than I thought. Like like a lot lower. I knew it was bad. I didn't know it was this bad for the disc bros. Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah. Mm. Gotcha, gotcha. TruVillain: and in terms of like ownership and stuff too, they could still I mean If if you're really conspiracy brained and you think like, I don't want them to take my games and shut it down, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: they could still do that with your fucking disc, right? Like there's examples of discs, you buying the disc pre-order, getting it early, and it just not w I think Halo did this most recently, I think I saw, where it just didn't even work because they just didn't activate it yet. And so if they can activate it, they can deactivate it. And it's like, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: yeah, but I can I can throw my console, I can get the updates and throw my console into offline mode and keep if it's like if you're having to do all that. Just to play your fucking game. Okay. Okay. Like I don't Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: That's all I g I don't Kainitsu: If that's what you wanna do, like TruVillain: The fight's the fight's over, man. The fight's you know, and then they've told the you've seen it GameStop, every publisher, like everyone has seen this end coming. Like the there's been so many canaries in the coal mines, right? On this shit. Even GameStop came out recently. It was like, yo, if if we we stop selling physical games it won't affect us at all 'cause we've already moved on to a business model. When GameStop is saying that and for all you Bangladeshi listeners GameStop is a it's a very popular video game seller. It's basically the Walmart of video games over here in the United States. They're basically saying the stop of physical game sales won't affect us at all. Kainitsu: Yeah, and like their biggest model was buying and selling games, buying used games, selling used games. TruVillain: Yeah. Now they do all kinda like Magic the Gathering and and you know, little tchotchkis and stuff and game nights Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: and things like that. Kainitsu: It's a been a weird pivot for that store anyway. TruVillain: I'll say this, it's a lot more interesting going into a GameStop now. I don't know if you've done it in a while, but I I walk Kainitsu: No. TruVillain: in, I'm like, they have they have card tables over here. They have a big selection of Magic the Gathering Pokemon cards and D Kainitsu: Hm, okay. TruVillain: stuff and like that it's actually GameStop is I'm not saying it's the happening place to be, but I'm saying it is actually a lot more interesting to go in there now. Kainitsu: Gotcha. Okay. Well, I mean, that's nice to hear they got a little facelift and it's like not just buy well let us buy your games for like a dollar. We're gonna so TruVillain: I mean Kainitsu: run around and sell it for fifty. TruVillain: Dude, GameStop is one of the most annoying companies though. I don't know if they still are 'cause it's been a while, but you go in there and you just get harassed for pre order. You'd go to sh you'd be buying a controller and like, Kainitsu: Mm. Mm. TruVillain: Would you like to pre order the next nine games coming out? And you're like, Nah, I'm good. Kainitsu: No. No. If I wanted a pre order I would tell you and guess what? I can do it at home. Have a good day. TruVillain: Would you like to include a power cable with your an extra power cable for your PS five? It's like no bro, I'm I'm good. I'm good. Kainitsu: D do you want do you want our our our Gamer Plus thing that's gonna give you Game Informer magazine, which nobody ever fucking reads anymore, but we're gonna give it to you. Please buy it, 'cause I have to do it because of TruVillain: Would you would you like to buy this selection of yellow onions to go with your purchase? Like Kainitsu: Ha ha. TruVillain: it's just bro, chill the fucking these these poor GameStop employees were not even making fucking commission on this shit. Kainitsu: Mm no. And they're making like fucking minimum wage. And it's like it's just it they have to they they have to do it 'cause they have it's a metric for unfortunately. TruVillain: Yeah. But anyway, when those dudes are telling you they don't need physical discs, I mean that's a big canary in the coal mine. No Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: publisher has come out. Like it would be really easy for a publisher to come out and be like be the good guy, you know, get that quick hit of being like, we're gonna keep publishing discs as long as we can and no one's done that. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. No. TruVillain: Nobody. Not a single publisher has come out because everyone wants it. Everyone wants the discs to go away. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: And when that happens and and and the thing is is like most people want them to go away too. Like 'cause most people are digital. Not that they want that like I don't want them to go away. I haven't bought a disc in probably I don't know, fifteen years or something. And I don't want them to go away. I want people to have them if they want them. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: But they're going away. You know? Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: And and a lot of the people I see online, like a lot of the content creators kind of virtue signaling behind like I'm canceling it's like dude, if you look at their other content, they also have they almost almost exclusively buy digital games. And Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: if you look at the numbers, like they're just they're so low. In fact, let's get into that real quick. Kainitsu: Are they Okay. let's see. TruVillain: that that well you can bring that up. But the the Matt Piscatella thing as well, came out and said that in the United States only seven games sold over one hundred thousand copies Kainitsu: Damn. TruVillain: in the US on PlayStation, which is Kainitsu: Damn. TruVillain: fucking wild. And and and if you're thinking to yourself, well, maybe Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: those sold it if it's over a hundred thousand, they sold Maybe a million. It's like, no, I think it ca I think it topped out of like two hundred and fifteen thousand for the top end of those seven games. Mm. Yep. Which Kainitsu: Whoa. Whoa. For f for f geez. For physical copies? That's pretty crazy, actually. TruVillain: yeah, which, you know, it's it's probably things like Crimson Desert, Call of Duty, things like that, which you Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: know, of course, sold, you know, millions of copies. Kainitsu: Right. TruVillain: You know. digital. Yeah. It's Kainitsu: Damn, and it wasn't even like a tenth. TruVillain: it's a bloodbath out there, boys. It's it's it's bad. Which is why they're Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: switching. And they they've they've had this plan, like when they prototyped the PS six, they were probably like, yeah, this thing ain't gonna have a disk drive. And so Kainitsu: Probably and. TruVillain: yeah, and so unfortunately, disc owners are kind of a niche of a niche, right? Like they they just they just don't the Sony could lose every single disc buyer and probably be okay, right? Kainitsu: Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: And these types of rebellions, they never hold up because unfortunately they're so unfocused. Even their mission statement is unfocused. And then when when things like Grand Theft Auto come out, when things like Wolverine come out, n no one is gonna stand strong. Kainitsu: Right. Yeah. Yeah. No, like like it TruVillain: Right. And and Sony gets a thirty percent rip off of all of those games. Well, Wolverine Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: they get like one hundred because they made it, but like GTA six, Kainitsu: More like it. TruVillain: they're gonna get thirty pr and then a lot of people are gonna go buy PS fives, they're gonna get new PSN accounts. So let's say Kainitsu: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. TruVillain: let's say every one of these disc owners do hold true and they do quit. I mean they're gonna be replaced like by Kainitsu: Ha ha. TruVillain: by you know and Sony doesn't wanna lose those people. But Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: number one, they're not. They they maybe lose like thirty percent of those people. Cause people don't have will people yeah, people don't lose have willpower. They just don't. Kainitsu: not gonna lose any of them in all honesty. Yeah. No. It just like a lot of shit on online, man, when it comes to these kind of like movements and like TruVillain: Life is too short to boycott your video games, right? Like that's Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: the problem. The problem is is you wake up every day, you go to a job you fucking hate, you get shit on at that job all fucking day. You come home, maybe you're in a marriage that you fucking hate, you get shit on by your wife, maybe she's looking at the neighbor a little too much, who can say? And and and you you just want to play a video game at the end of the day, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: right? And You're not gonna be like you're not gonna go through everything I just said, get home and be like, you know what? I'm not playing this video game, 'cause fuck Sony for taking my discs away. You're not gonna do that. You're just not. Kainitsu: Yeah. No. Nobody is. No. And it's the thing like you people will try to like boycott like older like Call of Duty games, which sounds like the dumbest fucking thing in the world, 'cause like Call of Duty is like the most popular FPS, which I wish it weren't still. but it's it's waned a little bit, but still, yeah, a lot of people still buy that game just 'cause like that's the game they play and the only game they play, and they play the same fucking maps with the same fucking weapons and then it's like I don't know why you keep on giving him money. TruVillain: People yeah. People like what they like. I mean, yeah, I mean I'm the victim of victim's a strong word, but like Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: this this happens to me too with stuff, right? Like I have Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: like Baldur's Gate three was a big moment, like a big breakthrough of role p turn based role playing games. But outside of that, I mean it's it's tough pickings out there, right? For triple A kind of big games like that because everyone wants to play Call of Duty, Roblox, Minecraft, like those types of games. And Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: and I'm also a big traditional single player. role playing tactics and you ha still have a lot of that. But I mean again, you you just see that slow little trickle over to the Robloxes, over to Fortnite. That the you know, you've Kainitsu: Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: I've been going through that my we all have like a part of this industry that we that we see die and we hate it. You know, it makes us sad. But you just gotta have to unfortunately that's just the way things go. You're the only thing you can do is convince more people to buy discs. and do it very fast where there's this Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: big uprising and they're like, shit, but that's not going to happen. Cause guess what? People don't want discs. I don't want discs. I used to want discs, but your vast majority of your people love the convenience of a digital ecosystem. Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: Now, I think the real fight, and we'll kind of get into this, I keep alluding to these other stories, but we'll we'll get into how hopeless the fight is in just a second. The real fight shouldn't be bring back discs because what'll happen is is what they can actually do is they can bring back discs to avoid actually having to address the real problem, which is digital ownership, right? Like we should be talking about that. If we're Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: gonna if you're gonna lose discs, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: we should talk about the fact that like you don't actually own your games. I can't buy a game on that s PlayStation doesn't even have a fucking refund policy. If you open the game, it's it's gone, right? Like Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: you own that bitch. I can't buy a game and say, here, Kai, play this game that I just bought. You know, like and and and so that's those are the discussions that you need to be having. That needs to be your fight afront. It's like, okay, if you're gonna force us to accept this future, this Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: is the kind because they will. We need to be fighting on this front. Not let's bring back kill zone as well. It's like, dude, no one played kill zone. Halo murdered kill zone. Halo murdered Kainitsu: Do TruVillain: resistance. These these g these franchises were were made for the cold corporate calculating stance of let's kill Halo. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yep. TruVillain: And they couldn't do it because the chief is undef well, he's he's been actually quite beaten down over the years. Yeah, Kainitsu: He's been throw to throw now, yeah. TruVillain: he's but at the time the chief was undefeated. Kainitsu: He was on top. TruVillain: He was on top of of of Resistance's mama. And but so Kainitsu: I to you watch. TruVillain: so yeah, that that really needs to be a fight and Or go to Steam where you do kind of own your games. Like in Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: a way, you 'cause you can rip and and you know like there's stuff you can do. Kainitsu: Yeah. Well, the best thing about Steam is that if things are delisted, you get to keep it in your library. Even if it's not available on the store, if it's in your library, you can still download it and play it. Which is TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah. Kainitsu: one of the few things we have to help us with, you know, going fully digital and everything. 'cause again I I Yeah. dude. Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Their refund policy is great. Their family share seems great too. I've never used it but I mean you play a lot of shit like that that your friends buy and stuff on and Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: through the family share and that seems fantastic. now they still have the same ownership problems over there. They just give you some good options around it and so I think that discussion needs to be had with them as well. but yeah. Kainitsu: Yeah. It does. 'cause yeah, that's that's the biggest thing about all this skin. It's like consumer ownership is the big problem that everyone needs to have, like you said. Like that's the thing TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: that needs to discuss the most. And yeah, let's get some better discussions about that. I'm sad about the way of you know the this going away, but that's the way she goes, bud. You know, that's the way she goes. TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah. And I think that yeah, and I again I want people to have these things, but at the same time, you can't expect a company to cater to like I mean, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That niche. TruVillain: I don't know, like we'll call it 300,000 people, you know, maybe. Yeah. Yeah, there's like yeah, there's like over a hundred million. Like it's they could lose Kainitsu: That's not even a tenth of like their player base or like owners of like their fucking console, man. Yeah. Yeah. Like TruVillain: every single one of you and like not Kainitsu: And it wouldn't matter. TruVillain: even yeah, they would barely feel it. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Well that's what I was saying earlier, man. TruVillain: Right. And the thing is, is if they if they lose you, you're probably gonna go over to Steam and still buy some of their games, right? Like and still interact. Yeah. Yeah, they still Kainitsu: If they sell on PC, whatever they have on there, you know. TruVillain: they'll put back probably, but that's a whole nother discussion. But Kainitsu: Yeah, that's another thing. TruVillain: yeah. so anyway, so what what does Sony have to say about this, right? That we finally actually heard from them on this earlier this week. They had a little investor call and a QA. so Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: here's a little bit more of a general thing they said about it. Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: it said let's see let me get this pulled up here. They said we announced that in January twenty twenty eight onwards we will no longer be manufacturing game discs. So one and a half years ahead. wait. Why is that written that way? So one and a half okay, so one and a half years ahead. So we made this announcement at this time. There are various reasons we made this decision, the biggest being the digitalization of contents overall has been progressing. That's the big factor. It's not just for PlayStation, but for all kinds of contents digitalization is progressing. A nothing statement. and so we Kainitsu: Yeah. Very very corporate. TruVillain: Yeah. It's so when we think about the future and we put in a lot of thought and time and we cautiously considered this, and we came to the I hate the way this person talks. We came to this conclusion, and we're going to cautiously move this forward. It's really hard to read because I hate the way they talk. And to this decision we have received various opinions and people have strong views and we understand that the community has put forth those views to us. Games are loved by many people, it's a form of entertainment that's loved by people. No shit. And it's connected to people's fond memories in many cases. And so we understand those emotions. We want to consider that. And in the future, digital ecosystem, how do we engage the gamers is something that we would like to continue to explore. So essentially Go fuck yourself. Kainitsu: Yeah. yeah. it's it's very it's so the reason why you hated to read that and it was hard to read is because you don't have executive brain rot. Like it's like it's very yeah, it's structured and it yeah, and then it gets it's just very corporate speak. But yeah, Japanese, yeah. But even still, like it's TruVillain: Well, it's it's just structured very oddly. It's also probably translated as well, 'cause it's probably translated from Japanese. Yeah. Kainitsu: just it's just a it's a corporate statement. That's all it is. so yeah, TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah. Kainitsu: it's exactly what you would expect them to say to kind of have, you know, some type of response to this because they couldn't stay silent on it forever. obviously it's a big thing that they announced and it's a big thing people are, you know, complaining and bitching about and they're gonna say, I'm gonna do this thing and they're not, you're still gonna give them fucking money. TruVillain: That is that statement was the equivalent of like the boyfriend you're angry at or girlfriend you're angry at being like like I'm sorry you feel that way. Like not I'm sorry I did this. I'm Kainitsu: Right. Yeah, it's like I TruVillain: sorry you feel that way. And yeah, it's it's and they went on to say too, we have another statement here as well. during the same QA, speaking on the impact, they literally say Which although I will say to this statement, it is a bit early, I would say, honestly, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: but they do account for that too. They say we are not seeing any impact on our business as of now. Going forward, about the content sales, large part is already digitized. Therefore, as a result of the discontinuation of a disc, we don't see that there will be any negative impact on our business. However, as I already said, the users, the players have attachments and we have to think about how to respond to those feedbacks. So they basically said it's not affecting us. It won't affect us. We've already accounted for this. It won't affect us. But we're sorry you feel that way. Kainitsu: We hear about your feelings, we don't care. TruVillain: Yeah. We don't give a fuck, boy. We do not care. Kainitsu: They're that Yeah one of these. yeah, man, like again, like I said earlier on in all the this whole discussion, they're they're a corporation. They don't care. They don't care about your feelings. They don't care about your physical media collection. They don't fucking care about you. They only care about your money. That's all they want from you. TruVillain: Yeah, they've never, I mean that's thinking this statement too that the the rebels put out kind of Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: is like, Man, Sony, man, you you lost us, bro. We were homies, you know. They and it's like they were never the Kainitsu: You are the chosen one! TruVillain: only reason you had those things that you listed is because they either were selling well or they thought they would sell well. The Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: only reason you had discs for as long as you did is because honestly they didn't want to piss off retailers. It wasn't even you. Like the thing is, is if it wasn't for retailers The PS5 wouldn't have supported. They would have stopped this in PS4. That's the Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: thing. They were never afraid of pissing you up. Now in the PS4 era, they probably were. Cause it was still Yeah. Kainitsu: Well we mean the whole whole stink about like so you you share a game. TruVillain: Yeah, the three to four, and they saw what they but the PS five era, they did the numbers had probably dwindled. They Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: were mad about pissing off Walmart. They were mad about pissing off Target. They were mad of the people who sell the games because retailers, you know, they still want them to sell their products. Kainitsu: They could cut. Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: And to that end they're gonna be giving like codes on fucking cards and shit for the games and stuff, but but yeah, I mean it sucks. I mean I don't know that there's much else to say on this, honestly, but I mean it sucks. Kainitsu: No. TruVillain: I listen, like I said in our pilot episode that may or may not ever get released. I loved going to game release nights at GameStop at Kainitsu: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. TruVillain: n midnight and doing that and it does feel very kind of, you know, you're just you know Clicking a button alone in your house and buying a game, you know? And and that's but that's just how we buy games now, right? Like alone and sad. Yep. Sad. Mm-hmm. Yep. Kainitsu: Mm hmm alone in your room, sad, spending money, ca capitalism, but this will make you feel good for a little bit. TruVillain: Yep. So rest in peace. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Rip discs. TruVillain: another another sad news, Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: an old BioWare developer, Matt Dara, I think, Mark Dara, has proclaimed that a Dragon Age remaster is impossible because Bioware has lost all the knowledge of that old engine. I think it's the old Aurora engine Kainitsu: mm-hmm. TruVillain: that they Yeah, yeah. Basically no one at Bioware anymore that understands the Aurora engine. There's basically no one outside of Bioware anymore that understands the Aurora engine. So unlike Mass Effect, which is unreal, although the first Mass Effect was on the Aurora engine, I think. anyway. So basically no one understands the engine because there's a a bleed there. but another Bioware veteran steps force to say that it's not impossible, but that doesn't mean it will happen. And it's in no means trivial. Kainitsu: so yeah, that's some pretty pretty c conflicting statements there from again again veterans and all of that, but I mean I don't know if they're still at the company or whatever, but yeah, one says no, other says yes, who fucking knows? I mean TruVillain: Well, and he's also now the CEO of Beam Dog too, which Beam Dog kinda remasters a lot of those old like Baldur's Gate one and two, Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: never went like those old Bioar RPGs. but yeah, I just I wanted to put this on here because I love Dragon Age one specific. Kainitsu: Gotcha, okay. So he yeah. Hm? Yeah. TruVillain: two I I defend two more than I probably should, and three was pretty good. But I love Origins and I've always Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: wanted a remake or something of Orig. Cause you go back and try to play Origins and it's just it's one of those where you're like, man, this sure is sure is rough graphically. Kainitsu: It didn't age very well. Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: I think the the combat's fine because it's just that typical, you know, pause and play kind of turn based stuff. But yeah, it's it's just kind of sad to see. It's just another just evident nail in Bioware's coffin where even like the ex dudes are coming out and they're like, Nope. Kainitsu: Yep, yep. yeah, nobody knows anymore. TruVillain: There's no one there. It's not biow it's the ship of Theseus, you know, like there's it's bioware, but it's just the name, right? Like Kainitsu: It's just it's just wearing its skin, guys. It's not it's not the same people anymore. Yeah, TruVillain: Yeah. And I hate it because Bioware was my favorite developer for like coming up as a as a kid, dude. Baldur's Gate one and two, bro, and Neverwinter Nights and Kotor and Jade Empire. Dragon Age Or Dude Dragon Age Origins is so just like it's Dragon Age Origins it has one of those fantasy universes and stories where like if it was a movie, like I would put it up against like all the fa I'd put up against like Lord of the Rings and stuff. Like it's so good. Yeah. Kainitsu: shit, really. Okay. TruVillain: I I love it so much. And now that could be like rose tinted glasses looking back on it. Cause I haven't played Dragon Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Age Origins in a very long time. 'Cause it's not very like it's not very playable now, to be honest. but I thought it was so fucking good. it's just really sad to see a state of Bioware, you where it's like you can't you You are so not bioware, you can't even remaster your old fucking games. You know? Now, Kainitsu: Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: I will say I don't know, I I'm in no I'm not even close to an expert to even know if this is possible. But I kinda wonder if they could do something kinda like what they did with Oblivion, where they have like the underlying game and then they just kinda smack Unreal on top of it. You know what I mean? And Kainitsu: Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: just kinda do some kinda thing there, but Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: I don't know. Kainitsu: They possibly could. I mean, it it's been a very popular thing for a lot of developers to do lately with that particular engine, just kind of like, it's gonna be a remaster and make it look kind of pretty. And then it just bloats the size of the game because of all the assets they put fucking in there. but TruVillain: Yeah. I don't care if Dragon Age Origins is five thousand gigs. I will download and play the fuck out of that. Kainitsu: I don't care if I need fifteen hard drives. I'm gonna play it. TruVillain: I don't care if I yeah, if I have to duct tape like fifteen hard drives to my fucking computer. Like I will do it. I will do what I have to do. Kainitsu: yeah, okay. Well that's that's some dedication there. But yeah, no, I I I will say this though. I mean, I I understand your pain in many ways. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: Just again, I get I'm I'm old. I'm 40, okay? I've I've as for everything for most of gaming history I've experienced and saw it. I've been there. You gotta be there. but but yeah, no, I I I get it, man. So there's been lots of companies I've seen go to the wayside, get shut down. you know, just fall from grace and everything. And one of the biggest hardest ones for me is is Square. I'm I'm so sad of what that company is these days. And it was one of my favorite companies for most of the games I I enjoyed the release. They they've enjoyed a lot of I had good stories and and some I I know you don't care much about Jagger PGs, but like I got I you know, genre I enjoyed them. And then that was like the pedigree to live up to. when it came to those types of games TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: and and they've fallen from grace so far. The only thing is that yes, as of right now for you, a bioware is a husk. It is it is a zombie. TruVillain: Dude, I I it's it's so symbolic in the fact of like whenever they like 'cause Baldur's Gate 2 is one of like my foundational games of all time. Like I fucking love and I have been waiting for a new Baldur's Gate after that. And and it just says something that I was so relieved when I when it was announced that it wasn't Bioware. Like, I was like which is a wild place to be 'cause again I have a very Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: personal attached that's why I love Baldur's Gate three so much because Larian understood the fucking assignment and Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah. TruVillain: like and so it's it is kind of the symbolic thing that I was just relieved that it wasn't Bioware the people who made the fucking 'cause it isn't them. It's not. Again, it's like a Shipothesius thing. it's not them, unfortunately. Now I I'm gonna give a shot with the new Mass Effect game. We'll see. Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: I'm not I you know what I mean? Like I love Mass Effect one through three. I love them. And we'll see what they do. We'll see what they Kainitsu: Yeah, so TruVillain: do. Kainitsu: that's kinda was what I was getting to. So that's probably gonna be Bioware's last shot and then EA is going TruVillain: Yeah, probably. I mean, they gotta make they gotta make that Saudi money back, you know. 'cause I mean they yeah, they they sh they Kainitsu: God, that's a Holton That's a TruVillain: strapped like a bunch of debt to the company. It's like twenty two billion or something of debt that they gotta make back. That's why they have microtransactions and the single players their Kainitsu: Dude, it's an it's an insane amount. but TruVillain: fucking sports games. You're gonna be fucking buying bullets for fucking Liara and her gun Kainitsu: Hmm. TruVillain: and shit to shoot her your gun. It's like, you wanna reload your fucking gun? Five dollars, please. Yeah. Kainitsu: Give us ten dollars. TruVillain: Like that dude, I like The more I'm talking, maybe I won't. I I I wanna g for for for young villain, I wanna give I wanna give an open heart to the idea. But dude, this this Mass Effect game's gonna be a fucking disaster. Like it really is. It's possible, like, even if it's a good game, even if Bioware comes together and they do like a Power Rangers-esque like morph in time and they really put the game out, I think they're gonna hand it to EA and they're gonna mangle the f Kainitsu: Fuck it up. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: fuck out of it. They're gonna like rip stuff out of it. I mean that's what they did all through Mass Effect actually, the whole series because you had like the online pass in two, you had the Prothean fucking expansion in in three, a very intrical Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: expansion you had to fucking pre-order the game to fucking get. They've they have they mangled. Yeah. Kainitsu: They tied the ending to multiplayer in three. TruVillain: Yeah. Now I'll say this. I played the fuck out that multiplayer so it didn't affect me. Now and I will say this too That was overblown because you could get all that ending stuff without playing the multiplayer. And it wasn't even that hard. You just had to like do everything. The multiplayer just made it easier. Like you could like Kainitsu: Okay, okay. TruVillain: because you had like this g the only thing it really did, you had like galactic readiness on the map, which was like the reapers are coming or they're here, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: and you had to build up the defenses and the multiplayer Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: just added to that. Kainitsu: Yeah, well it it TruVillain: And so you could build it faster, but you could get to one hundred percent 'cause I did, 'cause yeah, Kainitsu: Really? Okay. TruVillain: I you could get to one hundred percent without it, 'cause I didn't play multiplayer until I beat the 'cause that's that's a rule of mine. I don't play any multiplayer until I've beat the campaign. And then Kainitsu: Hm. Okay. TruVillain: me and my friends and that was a such a good multiplayer mode. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. It was a it was a fun PvE, yeah. I I had a good time with it. But TruVillain: It was very good. Yeah, we played the f dude, I I can't I don't even tell you how many Spectre packs I bought. Like I don't I've spent I I don't I won't talk about it. Anyway, Kainitsu: My shame. TruVillain: re rest in peace to Bioware and and Dragon Age. Kainitsu: Yeah, I yeah, the what my whole point though was getting to like it, you know, this being their last shot and everything, dude. And it's my last thing I'm gonna say about it is be thankful that this might be the end. At least it'll be the end of your suffering and disappointment. I have a fucking conglomerate publisher developer, and that TruVillain: Well, I made my peace. Like like Lar Larian is my new Bioware, bro. Like Larian, they're they're they pick they didn't they picked the torch up. They said, It's Kainitsu: Yeah yeah yeah. TruVillain: okay, boy, I got you. You know, I was I f I was falling to my knees. Kainitsu: Right. TruVillain: It was raining outside. I held my fist to the sky and I said, Why? Why you know, and then you know, the as as the graves of Bioware and Bethesda And all the the developers that let me down and disappointed me and then I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked up and Larian was there. Swin Vic in his armor was there and he's like, I got you, son and he hands me Divinity Original Sin. You know, and I wept. I wept. And so, you know, Larry and is they're they're they're my new boys. They're they're the new new RPG studio kinda kinda carrying me forward. So Kainitsu: Yeah. I gotcha. And and and you know what I'm saying though if I'm glad you got a successor. My whole point is that if Fireware dies, good. You won't have to worry about them disappointing you and you see them doing bad stuff and not being TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: the you know, developer they were. That's probably a big that's probably gonna happen just straight up. But again my biggest thing is square and They're again a conglomerate, a huge developer and publisher. They're not gonna die until investors stop giving them money. So I have to live with that still. And it just every single time I hear about fucking anything they're coming out with, I'm like, no. There's like talks now they're gonna remake fucking eight. Final Fantasy VIII. And the Ugh. I hate Like, it's gonna probably be about four or five games if we're gonna remake that game. Just stop. Stop. Okay, stop. I'm sorry, I'm getting worked up over here. Let's just can let's move on. TruVillain: All right. I see that. Moving on. All right. AMD is coming out with a new GPU. it is the ninety fifty. It is a a budget GPU. The thing that makes it noticeable notable, noteworthy, is that there's an eight gigabyte version and a four gigabyte version. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: And the four gigabyte version is for like OEM like pre built type stuff, I think, right? And Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah. TruVillain: the eight gigabytes kinda like the off the shelf that you would kind of buy. Look at that little tiny baby card. Look at a little thing. it's real small. It's it's Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Dude, that it's so fucking small. TruVillain: kinda built for ten eighty p gaming. It's got GDDR six memory, and it's really just a sign of the times, man. that that Kainitsu: Do this TruVillain: these things are shipping with like the bare minimum. At least it's Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: at least it's D D R six, I guess. It could have been four. In our five. Kainitsu: Yeah, but first off, this fucking small ass card doesn't even get power from the PCIe slot. You wait still needs a fucking power cable. One at eight pin. TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: For for what little bit it's gonna do. Like TruVillain: Yeah. So I mean it's it's two hundred and seventy nine dollars. Kainitsu: I ha I hate I I hate this word right now. Yeah. TruVillain: and it it looks like they're also only they're only initially releasing it in like some some Asian Pacific markets. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: so it's just interesting because I think you will see I kinda wanted to add this to the news, not only 'cause it's like hardware news, but it is kind of I think a canary in the coal mine of like what's coming, right? Like it's Kainitsu: Mm. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: you're gonna start seeing kind of like these weird low spec, which to be honest with you is probably fine for a lot of people. I mean, you know, Call of Duty every year usually has kind of a lower spec Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: Roblox, you know, fucking Minecraft, fuck it, you know, like these a lot of free to play games, like they intentionally low spec. And Kainitsu: Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: to be honest with you, man, like I we talk about this almost every week at this point. There are these like sociopaths that are perfectly content at playing a fucking 720p game at fucking twelve frames a second. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: on a fucking seventeen inch monitor and a fucking half Kainitsu: With their potato. TruVillain: broken controller that's like sticky with cheese puffs and shit. And so I mean, I don't know. I mean for Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: i in a weird way it is nice to see something at a decent price, I guess. I mean I don't I haven't been on the low end. I don't know if two seventy nine is high for a card Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: like that to be honest with you. Kainitsu: Dude, for for what it for what it offers, I no, it's not a good deal. It's not a good deal. AMD's not being a saving grace. TruVillain: Well hold on. Let me let me s let me give you this though, Mr. Mokai Nitsu. AMD claims ninety six FPS in Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven at ten ADP medium Kainitsu: Yeah, I see that claim. TruVillain: settings. Kainitsu: They they claim stuff all the time. Like good for good for them. TruVillain: Ha ha ha ha. Kainitsu: They can say whatever the fuck they want. Like what's TruVillain: Damn. Kainitsu: see the actual performance, you know? I TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: mean, if it does actually reach that, that's kinda okay, cool, but at the same time, it's like like I gotta 1080p. I got I got 1080p. You get to play a 1080p, guys, with your fucking PC TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: with your Nah man, like I it just feels like they're being predatory at this point. Like it's kind of like I I get what they're trying to do, like, hey, we're just trying to we're trying to help you with your poor. Here's some here's another bowl of growl all over twist. you know, like I I I kind of felt the same way when they already announced like that new AMD processor that's coming out. and also how they're like they're bringing back an older one. But that older one it it It's gonna it's the same price as a newer card that's like a seven or k newer chips like a seventy eight hundred X three D or something. So it's like they're kinda trying to give you a value, but at the same time they're not, and it just I don't know, it just feels like they're being opportunistic more than anything else. Yeah. TruVillain: Yeah, I guess it's hard to yeah, it it can be hard to say though. I don't wanna be like all defend the corpos or anything. But I mean it Kainitsu: Right. TruVillain: you know, the the state of the world right now is with the with the tariffs and the fucking chip shortages. I mean, this might be the best they can offer, to be honest with you. Cause AMD, Kainitsu: Yeah. Mhm. Yeah. RAM shortages. I d possibly. And I I get TruVillain: they they at least have made I don't behind the scenes I don't know what it is, but at least made a public commitment to like we're we're kinda gonna try to stay in the consumer market and not just go for all this AI shit. Kainitsu: Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: and so i again, that n they say a lot of shit, but I mean, Kainitsu: Ha. TruVillain: you know, I it's it's it's tough out there. I mean the the the budget market is Kainitsu: It yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: slim pick I hell the the premium market is fucking slim pickings at this point. Kainitsu: Dude, like you gotta be a fucking millionaire if you wanna top N PC these days. Like TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah, when you were telling me, off air that like your you your shit was experiencing some some issues, I like, no. Time to take a mortgage out. Kainitsu: Yeah, you know, yeah, I I I I don't want that to be a thing right now. I have I have a 3070 Let me just make this twenty thousand dollar loan. yeah, I have it I have a thirty seventy TI in my system right now. And i yeah again, it's it's like not bad. Not great. you know, it still does pretty good for most things. I can play in, you know, in two K if I'm not gonna try and push it with, you know, R RTX, you know, ray tracing and everything. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: and but I don't need it to go out right now. like I just don't I don't have the money for a graphics card right now, man. TruVillain: No. Well, to to be honest with you, now would probably be the most merciful time because it's only gonna get more expensive. So y if it went out Kainitsu: Eat true. It's gonna get worse. TruVillain: now, you would pay less than if it went out next year. So that's the f that's the fucked world we live in. You get you one of these you get you one of these ninety fifties, man. Fuck it. Get you get you one these bad boys. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. That is true. But yeah, I don't put it on man, I want the fucking 1080 experience at fucking 90 frames a second. I don't fucking care about 1080p, dude. TruVillain: Bro, you can play you can play Forza Horizon Six at one hundred and thirty one frames, bro. Kainitsu: Aw man, can't wait to play that on fucking dog shit resolution. TruVillain: I'll tell you what though, I mean, assuming the claims are true, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: at ninety-one frames for Cyberpunk, you could probably bump up some stuff and get sixty. And if you don't mind thirty, which to be honest, if you're Kainitsu: Yeah, probably. Yeah, and that that would be actually TruVillain: on the budget end of things and you don't mind thirty, you might be able to play this bitch at like fourteen forty at some decent settings for thirty frames. I mean, that's Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Right. True. TruVillain: just like that was probably like them maxing the frames out. But I mean if you can Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: you can trim that nine and especially Forza, you can trim that way down. Kainitsu: Yeah. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Cut it in third and maybe get you some decent, you know, decent looking game if you don't mind the thirty frames experience. Kainitsu: If you don't mind being a plebe and going thirty frames a second. TruVillain: play about Yeah. Well I mean if you're if you're in the market for a two hundred dollar graphics card, you're probably not you Kainitsu: I mean TruVillain: gotta have re you gotta have reasonable expectations, right? Like you're not I mean back when I was buying such systems, right? Like I I had, you know, when I was when I was doing all my PC gaming on a fucking HP laptop, you know, like I was with a it was a 750 integrated Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: like, you know, GPU in it, like I mean you just you you you y Kainitsu: What it w so what you had. TruVillain: you know, yeah, it's what you had. At least you could play the game. Like Kainitsu: What you can afford. TruVillain: when you're at that range you it's can I even play this? That's really Kainitsu: Mm, mm. TruVillain: which I think I'm hoping that developers and I know I know Larian has said this. They've they s said that they're gonna be speccing Divinity lower than they normally originally would have because of all this stuff. So hopefully yeah, Kainitsu: Mm. Just because of yeah. TruVillain: hopefully developers kind of kind of see this and they kinda say, okay, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: well we need to make sure we're not, you know, coming out with some shit that you're gonna have to have too highish, 'cause no one's gonna have Kainitsu: Right. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: it. Because, you know, at the end of the day, like, you know, people can only buy what they can afford and with everything else being Kainitsu: What's available? TruVillain: yeah, with everything else being when your groceries are fucking three hundred dollars per person a fucking week, depending on Kainitsu: Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: where you live, like, you can only f you know, afford what you can afford. And so Kainitsu: Mm-hmm, mm hmm. TruVillain: You know, some people would clown on you for having this shit, but I mean, you know, if this is what you can get, this is what you can get. And you know. Kainitsu: Right. It and if it is a upgrade for someone, I'm not again I'm not trying to downplay like if that that's good for you. And and the best thing I can TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: say about this card, not the OEM one like fucking four four gigabytes, get the shit out of get get the fuck out of here. But TruVillain: Honestly, yeah, and I'll d put a finer point on that. You if you are in the budget, if you're listening to this and you are in the budget range, get eight gigs of memory. Like don't ever get yeah, eight is the minimum. You know, say yeah, Kainitsu: Mm. Yeah, don't go for No. And that's even a struggle. TruVillain: if if you just take the extra couple months, however long it takes you to save up to get the extra couple Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: hundred, whatever it is, get the eight gig. Don't don't get anything with four gigs. You will be shooting yourself in the foot out the fucking gate. Yeah. Kainitsu: It's a trap. so TruVillain: You'll be playing Roblox for the rest of your life. Kainitsu: man, I can't love I love playing Roblox. My favorite favorite game within games and games and games. yeah, no, so yeah, that yeah, so again it if if anyone's gonna be coming from like console, this is probably like a good option for them at least. You know, it's like okay, so I've always been in console area, you know. I'm not kind of, you know, like I don't know if I'm gonna like what's going on with these ecosystems going forward. You know, I heard good things about PC. It's really expensive now, but there's this one graphics card apparently does good. And I don't mind not going in at a lower, you know, a lower, you know, tier at that time, just to kind of see how I like it. And if I like making my own builds, and if I, you know, want to do with all of that and upgrading. And then again, what's great about you know making your own systems is that you know, you you can possibly upgrade and have to worry about doing too much, just need to replace one thing. So that's probably the best thing about these cars they're releasing, but it sucks because like Dude, they're it's like the same it's this it's like the same name for where they were just released last year. and those are good cards. Like those are actually good cards TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: that they're not making or they're gonna cost way too much right now. TruVillain: Yeah. I mean if you're one of these no more discs, no more PlayStation guys, and you're moving to PC, this may be a good option for you. I would maybe Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: as much as I fucking hate Nvidia, I would maybe just go with the the fucking fifty sixty like over this, to be honest. But Kainitsu: Like for TruVillain: again, price range is the thing. How much is a fifty sixty these days? Go ahead and say what you were gonna say. I'ma look. I'm gonna see what a fifty sixty. Kainitsu: yeah, you're good. When it when it comes to this current GPU generation, I will say that again, yeah, fuck NVIDIA for a lot of things right now, but this might be the last time you get to buy a consumer NVIDIA GPU. TruVillain: That's true. Yeah, so a 5060 is 359. which is a Kainitsu: Not TruVillain: hundred. That's a little less than a hundred. That's like ninety dollars more Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: than this card. I would get the fifty sixty. It's an eight gig card. Kainitsu: Yeah, you just go for that. It honestly, yeah, it would be it's gonna be more powerful. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: I mean, you got DLSS, which will get you a lot of performance buff. D D R seven as well. Kainitsu: Yep. And it's still us four, which is better than three. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: Yeah, I mean, honestly, if you're if you're in the budget range, I know being patient sucks, but if you, you Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: know, save up that extra ninety bucks, you know, go go do some DoorDash or something real quick. You know, if you got, hey, listen, I got friends that do it, man. They they need a little extra money for something, like they they go do some door Kainitsu: Yeah? Hmm. TruVillain: I I knew I have a guy, he he works with us, he door dash to get that hundred dollar edition of GTA six. So, Kainitsu: Damn. Okay. TruVillain: you know, you you do what you gotta do out on these streets, man. And Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. It's a hard wood out there. TruVillain: You know, I 'cause if you're gonna be investing, especially now, you want something that's gonna kinda get ya get ya kinda yeah, Kainitsu: Yeah. Give me some legs. Yeah. TruVillain: some legs 'cause you wanna get get hopefully over what is hopefully a hump to something maybe Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: a little bit cheaper. Kainitsu: Yeah. and again, yeah, if it if it is only that much more, which isn't that bad, it's pretty good for a fifty sixty. I was expecting it to be a little bit more, but no. yeah, 'cause I mean, when it does come to PCs, the most important components you're going to buy are going to be your processor, your GPU, and your motherboard to support all said things. that they make sure they work together. But GPU definitely is gonna be one of the most expensive things and again for gaming, gonna be the most imp So you want to get at least the most out of your money to TruVillain: yeah. Kainitsu: have the best experience as possible for what you can afford. And again, yeah, 90 bucks, I I hate to say it's like it's not too much more money, like in in like hardware, you know, comparison and prices. It's not that bad. So TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: again, if you can do the extra or again, save up a little bit extra, yeah, definitely do it because you're gonna kick yourself in the ass if it's like, man, I could have TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: had I could have had that right now, and but I'm stuck with this thing. TruVillain: Now I will say though, I will say though, like if it's between the AMD GPU and like a r ninety dollar better CPU, probably go for the CPU to be honest with you, 'cause that Kainitsu: Mm. Yeah. TruVillain: CPU is gonna lock you out of like like hard lock you out of games. Whereas the GPU Kainitsu: Mm, mm. TruVillain: will more than likely just make you play the games at like a lower fidelity than Kainitsu: Well what's good. TruVillain: you kinda yeah. Yeah, you'll still be able to play it. Now having a shitty CPU, like I said, there's you can lower the graphics all the way down to low. Kainitsu: Mm hmm. TruVillain: And like that's just not playing. Kainitsu: Yeah, it just depends on what they're doing for CPU utilization. But a lot of games have gone more towards that way where it used to be for for a while it was like it was just one or the other. You know, it was like, you have to have a really good CPU, your graphics card doesn't matter as much. But then it's like, you have to have a really good graphics card, but you don't really need to be worried about your CPU. But then it's like, now it's gotta have kind of like a both, you know, make sure they kinda even. So it's kinda got more towards CPU for a lot of stuff, but e yeah, even still though, you know, d yeah. Make sure your brain for your your computer is good, which is your is your processor. And if you want to have like a decent gaming experience, make sure it's gonna be the best you can afford to get the best experience. Cause yeah, you don't wanna you don't TruVillain: Fantastic. Kainitsu: want to cheap out. TruVillain: All right. I think that's about all we wanna say on that. this one's really quick. Bethesda changed their logo and I hate it. Kainitsu: They changed it and it's not the same. TruVillain: It's not the same. Well, it's this like callback to like, I don't know, looks like maybe the eighties or something, maybe like some very like it's kind of Kainitsu: Yeah, it it definitely has some some eighties retro vibe to it. It's got like some cyberpunky feel. TruVillain: Yeah, it's definitely kind of a like Yeah. I don't like it. I like the old one. I like the little the cube that when it animates it drops down and makes doom doom doom and you know Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Right, right. TruVillain: I but I'm a big Bethesda. Well Yeah, that's Kainitsu: It's just what you've known for so long. TruVillain: what I've known. And why why fuck with a good thing? Why change it? Kainitsu: Why change it? I don't like change. It's scary. TruVillain: the last kind of bigger thing we have I guess is Ubisoft game ownership on Xbox to PC. Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: This is another kind of I don't know if there's too much to say on this, but like it is definitely another canary in the coal mine. I've used that a lot today. May make that the episode title. because I've used it a lot. Last last week Kainitsu: Canary in the coal mine. TruVillain: it was foreshadowing. Today it's canary which is another type of foreshadowing. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: but you know it's it's just basically allows you to If you own a game on Ubisoft, you own it on like Xbox. I mean, if you own it on Xbox, you own it on PC. But the annoying thing is, Kai, you've frozen again. Can you hear me? Hold on. Technical error. Alright, back once again. Kainitsu: Yeah! TruVillain: in the final stretch of the show here. Maybe they will not have any more of those. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: anyway, so yeah, so Ubisoft, they're allowing you to have your Xbox games on PC through the Xbox app. The annoying thing about this is it's a s small list of games, maybe more will come. you also have to do it through like Ubisoft Connect, which is like their little really shitty service. Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: but It's you know, it's a good way to I guess have your games in multiple play. I feel like there's an easier way to do this, but the Kainitsu: There is. TruVillain: the canary in the coal mine I was talking about though is this Kainitsu: That canary. TruVillain: whole yeah, this whole Xbox like booting people. They're they're you know, trying to make a PC, right? Like they're kind of moving from like this is and 'cause they're gonna need a a way to get your it's the same with the backwards compatibility stuff to get your library kind Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: of in this more PC space so that then if they need to ditch the console and just have you on the PC app eventually through like and then have little OEM consoles, they can do that. so the games right now that are announced here, Assassin's Creed Mirage, Valhalla, Avatar, Frontiers of Pandora, Far Cry Six, Immortals, Phoenix Rising, Prince of Persia, Lost Crown, Riders Republic, Skull and Bones, the Crew Two, The Crew Motorfest, Kainitsu: What? TruVillain: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, 'cause, you know Great game. Rainbow not really. Rainbow Six Siege and Watchdogs Legion, the worst watchdogs. Kainitsu: Why that TruVillain: yeah, I don't know. It's rights maybe or th I'm sure more Kainitsu: Possibly. TruVillain: will come just like with that backwards compatibil compatibility stuff we talked about last Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: week. This just seems like now, it is possible that these could be old initiatives that they're just kinda putting through. Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: and they're maybe these aren't canaries, maybe they're old canaries, 'cause Asha does seem set on the console space. But that could just be what they're saying. I who Xbox, like, they say something different every fucking week. so Kainitsu: Dude, it's exhausting with them right now. I'm we're going to give you a little, little behind the scenes. We omitted a lot of Xbox stuff this week. We're just, just tired of talking about them. We're just going to kind of wait a little bit more and see what's going TruVillain: Yeah. I was putting yeah. Yeah, Kainitsu: on, you know. TruVillain: I was putting the news together and I was like, I we're gonna we'll save it up. We'll see what they're doing next week Kainitsu: Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: 'cause I'm just tired of I I named the episode last time. This is not an Xbox podcast. No. Yeah, they're doing a lot right now. They're do and well and Kainitsu: And it's not supposed to be, but there's so much news right now. Yeah. TruVillain: it's so and it's very adjacent to PC, which is the thing. Like it's very impactful. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yep. TruVillain: and I saw like a thing, I d it looks like it may have been a false rumor maybe, but Again, that's why I wanted to develop a little bit that there's they're considering one of the options on the table is moving off of Steam and then I guess fully onto the Xbox app for their PC stuff. Which Kainitsu: no. TruVillain: to be honest, is probably what you gotta do is if you're if you're moving to this like Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: kind of console first exclusive kind of back to the old school way of fighting, you probably it's just stupid. Like please don't do that. Please. I don't wanna use your stupid fucking Xbox app. Kainitsu: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Give people a choice. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: f if to play Fable. You know, if if Fable comes out and I have to play it on your app, I'm gonna be real fucking sad about that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Kainitsu: Check out the upcoming one. Yeah, okay. TruVillain: And but that's probably what they do, to be honest with you. But I I saw I Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: saw the response to that. It was like the Windows Centrals guy said that that's not what he was saying. He was speculating. So that that could just be I I have to Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: look more into that. Yeah, they're making moves. I mean again, they're trying to nudge people towards the PC. they're trying to, you know, kind of have that hybrid thing going on. And this is just I think another sign of that. I think you'll s we'll probably see more of this in the weeks to come. Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah, months and everything. The one thing I have to do say about this that I know it's kind of a cool thing Ubisoft is doing here. Not the best selection of games like fucking skull and bones, dude. Nobody, nobody likes that. Like TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: I'd like I remember TruVillain: Yeah, I know. Kainitsu: trying that beta and just a little short story. TruVillain: I didn't even try the beta. Kainitsu: dude, it was not even worth it. It was like anyway, I TruVillain: This game looked so fucking stupid. I was like, Kainitsu: You TruVillain: why in the fuck? Like I mean it's not a terrible idea, but like there Sea of Thieves existed. Like someone beat you to this. Please stop. Kainitsu: Yeah, it came out later after in a shorter time. Yeah, no. The very first thing that came out like like it shows you like a little little cutscene comes up and it's like capitalism. I'm like, that's a great way to open up a game. this is gonna be awful. And yeah, no. TruVillain: Bro, there are a hundred and twenty-four people playing Skull and Bones on Steam right now. What what Kainitsu: What the fuck, really? TruVillain: are what are you guys doing, bro? Like what what are you doing Kainitsu: Have you not played better games? Look who hurt you! TruVillain: out here, homies? It peaked at twenty-six fifteen. The twenty-four hour peak is two seventy-seven. What what Kainitsu: What? Guess people are trying out that, gonna be trying out the edge on the PC. TruVillain: Who who in the fuck? Twenty six fifteen is really sad, but two seventy seven, Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: twenty four RP, that's way more than I would have expected. Kainitsu: It more than it should be. guess they still have a very, very, very small player base. But yeah, TruVillain: That's fucking hilarious. Kainitsu: yeah, it did. But yeah, it does seem like they're kind of starting to to prepare and Dutch people more to having possibly just moving to a PC environment or kind of thinking like having a hybrid way of like having your games and ecosystem. Makes sense. They're going to probably just have a go through the Xbox app. But yeah. But again, kind of cool what you be soft did at least didn't make you buy this again if you already own it in your library. So kind of cool. Again, it's kind of getting more less to what people want, but what are you going to do? TruVillain: The other well, the other canary and what makes it not such a good thing is that it only Kainitsu: to Kinect. TruVillain: goes it only goes one way. It only goes from Xbox to PC. It does not from PC to Xbox. If you have this on PC, you do not get this on Xbox. So shout out to that canary. Rest in peace to that canary in the coal mine. Kainitsu: Kinda lame. TruVillain: real quick too, EA I guess is set to finalize that Saudi acquisition soon. Kainitsu: God man. Yeah. That is a whole thing. Like it was announced a while back and it's been kind of in the back burner and in the news as a way. And yeah, it's going to be doing its closing on the the fourth, which is going to be Tuesday. And man, I kind of want to say about this. I want to just kind of what do you have to say? TruVillain: not much. I mean EA is shit. EA has always been shit. EA will Kainitsu: Really? Okay. TruVillain: continue to be shit and they will just be more shit because they now have twenty two billion dollars of debt straddled to their company and your games Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: are about to be even more eviscerated than they already were. But it won't Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: feel like it because they've been eviscerating them for years now. And so like Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah, they've been, TruVillain: I don't you know I mean there's like political ramifications and stuff, but I really don't wanna get into all that. Kainitsu: Mm. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not gonna like really go too-vee-heavy into it, but just because of like... Just like how all of this is unfolding and what's happening. And so not only is EIA being bought for $55 billion, it is going to be going private. And on top of that, main shareholder of that is going to be Saudi Arabia. Again, TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: I don't want to like go into anything political or anything like that. No, they won't. No, no, no, don't because it's private because no one no one investing into it. they think. Yeah, TruVillain: Well, if it's private, they don't have shareholders, right? Do private companies have shareholders? Yeah. Yeah. It's just privately owned. Yeah. They just own it. Yeah. Kainitsu: so they can do more like so. The thing about being private is again, you can make more take more risk do how how your company wants you not to you can you don't have to do share your duty for investors and everything you have to worry about infinite growth like valve is private. So it's not public and they are very successful company and many ways for how they ran it throughout the years. But yeah. So again, yeah, it does not feel good for this particular group of people to own a company that owns a good portion of the gaming industry and has like, you know, FIFA contracts and all that shit. I don't think this should be finalized, for various reasons. One that's, this is a widely, widely overpricing evaluated for EA as a company, they're not worth $55 billion. They are not they want to be they want you to think they are they are not. TruVillain: Yeah, well, Microsoft bought Activision for seventy. Kainitsu: Yeah, that was even a that was even a bigger deal. And that was overpriced. mean, hell bungee was bought for three billion. But yeah, no. So like, yeah, this is a crazy I TruVillain: Well, it says here, their market cap is fifty two billion. I don't know if like, that's inflated it probably is somewhat inflated by this deal, but Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Maybe. Either way, I still think it's wildly over. I mean, on all honesty, when it comes to like these evaluations and like, you know, shareholders and stock market, like, that's just just fake at this point, man. It doesn't fucking care. These people just pass around their money to each other. But, but yeah, again, just I think there was wildly overpriced. It again, like if they were going private to a different group of people. Cool. No, again, I. TruVillain: What? You don't like the Saudi royal family, bro? What? What? What bro? Bro, come on now. Come on man. They they they they got the oil bro. Kainitsu: Why would I not like? Why would I not like fascists? They got the all you got and can't get around without that Saudi oil like they make TruVillain: Yeah, man. Yeah. Kainitsu: your game your group like your engine go room room. TruVillain: Yeah, man. Kainitsu: No, they can keep. that market. I don't want them to do with anything with media, especially with video games. And this is like my main outlet and like my main hobby. I don't want them to do anything with this. It's bad enough that we have Tencent. I think even Tencent's part of this fucking deal too. It's just, it's all, TruVillain: Wouldn't surprise me. Kainitsu: all bad all around. So, I don't think the EU should have like say okay to this. I don't think the SEC should say okay to that. like America's the last one to hold out and we're fucking horse to capitalism. So of course we're going to say it's okay. But, Antitrust laws not be antitrust and very well and this is a very very very good clear example of that And yeah, I don't like it again. I hate how like this whole thing right here is like in an amendment We did recently show you how more valuable you are We got all this money just from battlefield six, but we laid off half the people that made this game But we made so much money Like TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: I I hate it. I hate it. I hate it Again, the dark side of like just business and the game, the industry in specific. I'm not happy with any of this. Again, I don't want this deal to go through, but I'm, I'm just some guy on the internet. I don't, I have no effect on any of this. have all the wishes in the world. This is, this is going to go through. It's like EA is just going to get worse. TruVillain: yeah. Kainitsu: Like you said, they're a shitty company. They're going to continue to be a shitty company. They're going to be a shittier company now. And they may not make Like, really, any good games at all going forward and everything is gonna be completely live service? Like, who knows, man? Like, I- I don't know, I'm- TruVillain: When when was the last good EA game? Like just give me give me a 'cause I have an answer Kainitsu: Well, okay. TruVillain: in my head, but when would you say the last good EA game was? Kainitsu: depends on who you talk to. But like I guess in probably most consensus in most circles TruVillain: I'm talking to you. Kainitsu: like me, I mean, as of right now, probably Survivor was probably the last good game EA came out with, in my opinion. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: I was really hyped on Battlefield 6. We played the beta together. It was fun. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: It felt like Battlefield had a good time. Got to bro out with some friends and just have fun. going through a battle simulator basically. And then we found out about that deal and I'm like, I'm not buying this game and I did not. And I got TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: I did it because it's one of their focal points are trying to say like, hey, we're so shitty, but will we make money? You know, TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: so yeah, I feel like this is real stink on the industry right now. I feel like it's a much quieter story than it should be. And I think it should worry more people about what's to come another another canary in the coal mine. And this one's kind of a TruVillain: no. Kainitsu: big fat canary. TruVillain: Think I think I just figured out that I'm a hypocrite. Kainitsu: How so? TruVillain: Cause one of my most anticipated games this year is a EA game. Zero Company, the the Star Wars game. I should have I should have I should have thought about Kainitsu: They don't make good games! shit yeah! TruVillain: that because it is respawn helping out with it. That that does make sense. they got me. Kainitsu: Yeah, that is like a second party developer to them. TruVillain: Fucking got me. That'll be that'll be the when I say when was the last good EA game, it'll be like yesterday because Zero Company came out. Kainitsu: And it's the final good game, I guess, but at least it's one that I'm probably gonna like. TruVillain: I would probably agree with the Jedi games are probably the last like like good games. Yeah, Kainitsu: Good game they came out with. Yeah. TruVillain: 'cause like those were those were good games. They weren't pr they didn't have anything predatory in except those ponchos. and Kainitsu: They were such bad rewards! Ugh! TruVillain: Yeah. And so I don't know. They but but I mean I just l you know, they do the sports games both primarily and I just Kainitsu: Yeah, that's made merely their bread and butter, you know. TruVillain: I really don't I just don't interface with EA very much. I d even Battlefield like playing it, it was very clear like, this is just gonna be like Call of Duty and you know, they're try they're trying so hard to make things everything around it was really just like we're trying to have a annual, yearly, you know, Call of Duty type thing going Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: forward, you know, and it's like it's hard to feel good about like playing a game when you know, they're just trying to figure out a way to like make this call of duty. That's why I never really got it and played it, 'cause it's like I I don't know, man. There's just I think my battlefield days are behind me. It was a fun game. It they Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: they got the mechanics good. They I think they captured kind of the essence of those kind of old Battlefield three and four games. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep. TruVillain: but it all just like you it's like you know, it's it's like the lion serving you some food, you know. You're like and it it's it looks tasty, but you look and it's the lion, he's got this smile on his face, and you're like Kainitsu: wines you might be the food next TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: yeah yeah no I get that I just TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: no no man I'm just this this acquisition has just melted my brain I'm just I'm just over all of it I'm over like just a lot of just business acquisitions at this point you know like I said earlier anti-trust laws don't be anti-trust in these days so TruVillain: Well, this wouldn't really apply to a antitrust, right? 'Cause a Saudi company, like, they're not like a primarily like you know, they're not like a monopoly on anything Kainitsu: Well. TruVillain: yet anyway, but like they they Kainitsu: Well, no, it still does. It still does. Like that's why they still to go through customs and all of this for, you know, their trade and all that make this merger is okay. And it can be signed off. Yeah. TruVillain: Well yeah, you have to well yeah, you you have to go through the process so they can be sure, but like in this situation, Kainitsu: suddenly. TruVillain: I don't think that it's kind of the Microsoft Kainitsu: Nope, it is. TruVillain: buying Activision, I think, was more of an argument for that. Yeah. And then fucking Disney as well. Kainitsu: No, that definitely was, but everyone was just kind of happy like, it's not going to be owned by body, but like Bobby Kodak anymore. TruVillain: Like what who's gonna when are we gonna stop Disney, man? Like what the what in the fuck, bro? Kainitsu: Disney is some kind of different beast when it comes to media overall. TruVillain: Yeah, a fucking shitty beast who makes shitty movies, except for the newest Spider-Man movie. That one was fine. Kainitsu: Yeah, But yeah, no, I mean, but the whole thing, they have, they still kind of have to share and prove that like, hey, us buying this company isn't going to impact, you know, the, you know, the fairness of, you know, trade and capitalism, all that shit. They still have to prove that which I don't think they are. That's why they have. Yeah. TruVillain: Well sure. But I just don't but yeah, but I I don't I don't really see that as an issue here, really, 'cause the they don't really own a bunch of video game companies. Kainitsu: They still own a decent amount of developers and stuff. And they have a lot of contracts and stuff still with certain IPs and things of that nature like FIFA and shit, know, dude. Like, so yeah. TruVillain: Well, EA owns a lot, but the Saudi the people buying them don't, is what I'm saying, right? Like Kainitsu: Mm-mm, but they're gaining ownership and it's going private. They're gonna own 93 % of the company TruVillain: Yeah, and that's that could be bad for but I don't think that's like a monopoly though, right? Like I'm not a I'm not a I'm not a professionalist. I'm not a country lawyer from Virginia or anything, but Yeah. Kainitsu: Not necessarily, but again, it gets it gets it. I'm not a simple country. TruVillain: Yeah, but I I you know, I th I think that like the big issue here probably that most people seem to be having is like a like a kind of a moralistic one 'cause the Saudis are pretty moralistically garbage. you know. Kainitsu: That's part of it, yeah. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Like, and do you want those people to make your games? Like, yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: No, no, I I'm not happy about this at all. Like I'm just saying, like I don't I don't think this is a monopoly issue. I think Kainitsu: I mean. TruVillain: if they if they keep buying stuff up, maybe, but Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: like I think it's it's definitely like a morality issue. At least for me it is. Like But but let's also not pretend that Kainitsu: It's a little bit of both, feel like. Is that necessarily a full Monopoly thing? TruVillain: EA was like upholding this great moralistic like Kainitsu: yeah. TruVillain: you know what I mean? Like it's it's like no, Kainitsu: Third TruVillain: our our fucking shitty again, our shitty company is is is being bought by shitty people. Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: Yay wasn't exactly a paragon of virtue. you know. Kainitsu: No, no, they were voted multiple years in a row the worst company in America. Yeah, they're like, we don't like that. make good games for people to play. TruVillain: Yeah, that was that was always funny. And you could tell it bothered them too, like Yeah. And funny thing is, is when you look back at that era of EA, like compared to this era of EA is like I mean, they they made Mass Effect two. They were making Mass Effect two during that era, you know? Like Kainitsu: a better. It's just like, it's just, it's been accepted at this point. Yeah, they made some good things then. And then in how they are now, we just accepted and you're probably going to get worse with this big acquisition. So yeah, I guess I, I'm going to go in a loop at this point. TruVillain: Maybe. I mean, oftentimes you don't buy like you don't buy hyper successful companies to change them usually. You buy them to like keep the money flowing, you know, yeah. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Cause you want their business model. Yeah. But I mean, but also a lot of times when these things happen, mean, they make big change ups and it's. TruVillain: Well, there will be. They've already, I think they've haven't they already laid off some people or they will. They definitely will, 'cause like I mean, they're Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah, they will. TruVillain: buying they're leveraging like a lot of debt. Like there's gonna they're coming with a lot of debt they have to make up. I think this Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. They're gonna call a lot of studios. They're gonna lay off a lot of people. TruVillain: is one of the I think this is the largest leveraged buyout in ever. 'cause Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: it's not like Microsoft who basically just bought them motherfuckers. Kainitsu: And I was like, we got money here. We want it. TruVillain: Yeah, this is yeah, they're leveraging a lot of debt. And again, I'm not an expert at how these things Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: play out or go down but that's it basically you're coming with a big fucking you y they're in the negative and they gotta make that up quick, basically. Kainitsu: Right. TruVillain: And so that's why your that's why your games are about to start getting fucking bent over the table and Kainitsu: Yeah, you thought of paying, you know, eighty hundred dollars for a game. Wait until they pay. You've got to pay 150 for base. I got to see them start doing that. yeah. Yeah, anyway, it's not a great company. So that's what's happening. But I don't think there's much more we can say right now for that until it TruVillain: Mm. well. Kainitsu: progresses. So. TruVillain: well, re rest in peace to EA. We rest Kainitsu: RIP EA. TruVillain: in peace to everything. So probably gonna make this one our last one, actually. We don't think we're gonna get to the the game releases to this evening 'cause we went pretty long this way and this Kainitsu: Yeah, yeah, yeah. TruVillain: one is kind of more of an interesting one, I guess, to kinda end on. Wow, and Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: D and D are having some cro crossovers. They're doing some Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: some crossover stuff. They've they've seen a lot of success with their Magic the Gathering crossovers, which I have a friend Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: that like he's really just pissy as fuck about those crossovers. yeah, well it's 'cause that's all they do. Kainitsu: Is he? It spoiled the sanctity. TruVillain: Well, yeah, I mean I it's been a while since I've been in been in the game. and back when I played Magic there was no such crossovers. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: and I don't think I would have I d I don't know where I stand on them 'cause in principle I don't mind them. Like it's kinda Kind of interesting seeing fucking cloud strife on a fucking magic card. But Kainitsu: Right? TruVillain: if they really are like, which he claims they are, but he's also dramatic. he claims that like it's Kainitsu: He's too close to it. TruVillain: nothing but crawl. They did they don't have like good releases anymore outside of that. And I do think it's kind of sad that you have to do these crossovers to kind of get ahead. Yeah. Yeah, 'cause I mean, Kainitsu: to dredge up business or to make your game more interesting without just doing your own thing. TruVillain: I really was into I was always into the lore. If Magic the Gathering, like because the sets told a story. So you had the core set, which was a mechanics set, and then you have three sets after that, yeah, the Kainitsu: booster packs and all that. TruVillain: that told a different section of the story and like this usually this battle that was waging and the cards were Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: themed around that. And I got way into that shit. It's like Dark Souls, but a card game, 'cause you know, you learned about the story through the item descriptions and things like Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: that. it looks like they're kind of moving into D and D with the but how do you How do you cross over with D and D though? Because here's the thing. You can make D and D anything. Like you c you just Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: take the rule set. They have like they even have like sci fi rules in the back where you can kinda like like with guns. I mean it's not like a full blown out like set, but like they have like some suggestions for like guns and stuff. Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: And Yeah, so I mean this is your thing. How do they what's what's this crossover looking like? Like, I mean, how are they integrating this? Kainitsu: Yeah, it's going to be. I don't know, man, it's going to be really interesting way they're going to do it. So obviously it's going to be like, guess the fifth edition is going to be the final edition of D and D because they don't need another edition. granted, they did a lot of good changes with it. TruVillain: Yeah, fifth is really good. Kainitsu: Yeah, it's very, it's very approachable. Newcomers who come in don't feel too overwhelmed by a lot of stuff. Some things are simplified, but you know, it was for the better. It's more approachable. It's more fun at stream by stuff anyway. Yeah, I don't know how they're do all of it. It actually didn't know that they were like rule sets in the back to let you know about like how what you can kind of incorporate into the DND world if you so when you're making your own campaigns and stuff. Yeah, I got you. That's really interesting. TruVillain: Yeah, it's just little suggestions. Okay, so yeah, it kinda looks like they're according to this, it kinda looks like they're just making like the player's manual Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: almost, but it's with the the the source material of wow. 'Cause it Kainitsu: Yeah, I. TruVillain: looks like they're still putting the fifth edition rule set on it. Kainitsu: Yes, it's going to be the fifth edition for this for the while in the Star Wars packs TruVillain: Mm. Kainitsu: or in crossover, they're to be bringing it into it. They Star Wars is not yet as fleshed out. The only thing we know is that it's going to be during the rebellion era. So episode four through six, the good the good movies for the good time, everybody's TruVillain: Mm. Of course. Yeah. Well that's the era y yeah, that's the era yeah, that's the one you'd want to do. Yeah. Kainitsu: harking back to that because it's made the most sense to go. TruVillain: Yeah, if you're gonna risk pissing off your core players, you at least do it for the good era of Star Wars. Kainitsu: Right. The best one. It's gonna be the rebellion area for Star Wars, but that's all we really know about how they're gonna do everything. So for wow, they're actually going to be bringing in like, you know, familiar classes are going to be like subclasses, there's gonna be like new abilities and familiar abilities from the well from wow and everything. So it's gonna be kind of cool being seen that they do that. And it's like, okay, well, I wasn't expecting to D &D to have like Star Wars, all of a sudden, and, and, TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: you know, have fucking you know, while being there all of sudden too cool, again, it also makes sense. Cause like, like you just said, that D and D can kind of be whatever you, whatever you want, like in the lore wise, TruVillain: Yeah. Yeah, I I Kainitsu: it's, it is a multiverse. was kind of like the first multiverse before there was like the multiverse crates, and everything. So you see, okay, that makes sense. But, I didn't know like how many crossovers they did and everything. I kind of looked it up and I was just curious. I'm just going to do it again. thing off the top of my head, the one that. damn. TruVillain: Magic has a lot. There's Ninja Turtles, Avatar Last Airbender, Final Fantasy VII, there's a lot. I yeah, and people are quite well, anecdotally, people I know are quite angry about it. yeah, I really don't care about the World of Warcraft one because it's like, f fantasy it's an it's another fantasy universe on top of it. Kainitsu: So, fantasy within fantasy. TruVillain: Which and Warcraft is one of those derivative fucking fan like is just Warhammer. Star Wars might be interesting because again, while you can take those rule sets and you could make a Star Wars campaign, it it might be nice just to have like a quick and dirty you can just kind look at, you know. kind of put your your own st I I don't know why maybe it's the juice isn't worth the squeeze. I don't know why like Star Wars wouldn't just make their own tabletop. You know what I mean? Like I feel like Star Wars could but I will say it is probably a tough market to get into because number one, it is a niche market and number and people are kinda like locked in and so maybe this is a way to like kind of do it without committing the resources to being like, hmm, how do you make a good tabletop game? Kainitsu: Yeah, that's probably because I mean, you toys workshop, which that's the biggest one, you know, with the board hammer and 40 K and everything. Even the games TruVillain: Our games workshop here. Kainitsu: were just sorry. And they're I mean, they've been kind of pissing off their fan base for a lot of things like last year. If you're like, well, fuck you. I'm not going to buy your book. I'm just going to download it and I'm going to print out my own fucking figures. But but yeah, it's yeah. I'm sorry. I was going to say there. TruVillain: I don't know what you were gonna say either. I will say, Kainitsu: Obviously. TruVillain: I'm curious about the Star Wars one. Don't really give a fuck about the Warcraft one. Kainitsu: that's what I going to say. Yeah, it would be like too much capital and a risk for, you know, Disney to go and try and make a tabletop game for Star Wars specifically. Again, it's best for something like that to lend out your IP makes more sense licensing and everything. So I can see where they're coming from. But I mean, it TruVillain: I mean maybe, yeah, I don't know. It's it's definitely an option. Kainitsu: I mean, is D &D is one of the most popular, if not the most popular tabletop game out there since like fucking 1978. TruVillain: I love it. D is one of the funnest things the world you can do. Like I would I it's better than video games. I fucking love D D. The problem with D and D is getting people together regularly. It is yeah. Kainitsu: Yeah, it's a commitment. It's a commitment. I've only done it once with one campaign. We only did a few sessions, but I can definitely see why people enjoy it. a lot of fun, know, making your own character, making up your own backstory and everything. Yeah. Margue. TruVillain: It also depends on your your DM and I am the best fucking DM, let me tell you. I am very good. I'm a very good DM. I think so. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Well, I mean, you do like to write, so I can see you being a good good, good dungeon master. TruVillain: Dude, I put so well, it's not just about the story. I do put a lot of effort into the story, but it yeah, Kainitsu: Like, you know, the experience and all of that, yeah. TruVillain: it's about yeah, it's about telling you know, telling the 'cause you have these DMs man, they're fucking rule that they abide by the rules. They don't s fudge any roles. Kainitsu: You you got your three die, it's not the three die, you're four shot and die. TruVillain: Well, you make sure they roll the right one, but like it behind the the whole reason the screen is there is so you can fudge rolls, you can kinda Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: like tell the story and stuff like that. But you have these motherfuckers, man, you can tell they roll it and they just look at it and they look at you and they're like, You dead, bitch. Like you know. And and that they're just real dry with it and I they don't have any crit 'cause like one thing I do as a DM, if you do a if you roll a crit, good or bad, something crazy's about to happen, you know, like Kainitsu: Make it interesting. TruVillain: If you roll a if you roll a nat twenty, like, I'ma have you like do a backflip like over the enemy and Kainitsu: Aw hell yeah. TruVillain: like if you roll a nat one Kainitsu: Mm. TruVillain: God help you. That's all I got to say. Kainitsu: Bad stuff about to happen to you, you're look real stupid. TruVillain: But yeah, I mean anything else on that? I mean it's it's definitely gonna be interesting. I'll definitely keep an eye out for that Star Wars one. see what can kinda do with that. Kainitsu: Yeah. Yeah, it definitely is an interesting take. Yeah, the only thing I have to say that whilst they've ever done the that, know, they did obviously the metric, the gathering crossovers and stuff. hate the hate the name they have. DND universes is beyond. think TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: really, that's like the cringiest name. And I know it's not like new. It's it's what they did back in 2000, the magic magic gathering as well. But it's like, dude, TruVillain: Universe is beyond. Yeah, it's not great. Yeah. Kainitsu: If you're gonna do that, just go all the way. D &D universes and beyond. Like, just add the one word, everybody knows what you're kind of referencing. Just do it. To infinity and beyond TruVillain: Mm to infinity and beyond. Kainitsu: or Bed Bath and Beyond, man. Like, anyway. The one thing I found interesting was weird at the same time, but I guess it makes sense because, know, multiverse. They did a crossover with Rick and Morty. I did TruVillain: yeah. Yeah. Kainitsu: not know that. TruVillain: Mm-hmm. Kainitsu: I'm pretty sure a of families got, got, got, did not like that. It's a weird thing to do. TruVillain: Yeah, I don't know. It's again, I've heard nothing but negative things about it. I personally don't Kainitsu: Yeah. TruVillain: care as long as like the good releases like the Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. TruVillain: you know, are still coming, but Kainitsu: Right, The only thing I can see why it kind of make sense is that again, brick and morty is all about, we're high, high cerebral sci fi with small T verse and no, we're, crazy fantasy sci fi. It makes sense. But I don't know. TruVillain: Yeah. Kainitsu: But, but yeah, it's going to be interesting. Cool. It's doing it. maybe it's not bad for them, but it might be good for some people. TruVillain: Alrighty, well on that note I think we're gonna kill it there 'cause I'm starving and we've been going for a a hot minute, so I Kainitsu: Yeah, it's a long, long episode, man. TruVillain: as always I appreciate everyone that stuck with us through now three episodes and if you made it to Kainitsu: Mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah. TruVillain: the end, we are really happy to have you. Kainitsu: And even if you came back and only heard the first 30 minutes, thank you. TruVillain: No, you have to listen to the whole thing or none Kainitsu: okay. TruVillain: of this. If you didn't listen to the whole thing, none of what I'm saying applies to you. How can it? Kainitsu: It doesn't matter. TruVillain: How can it? You're not hearing it. Kainitsu: You don't know what I'm saying right now. TruVillain: Like, yeah, you don't know I said it. So I obviously it doesn't fucking apply to you. So anyway, it's three episodes. It feels like it's getting easier Kainitsu: Yeah? Yeah. TruVillain: as it goes. I hope it's getting more enjoyable for people, higher quality. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. TruVillain: if we can get some of these technical issues sorted out and just a smooth experience, that would be awesome. So anyway, Kai, if you want to tell people where they can find you and all that good stuff. Kainitsu: yeah, again, I'm still not doing any personal content creation just yet. It's a lot of what the world and personal life and everything. So it's going to be a challenge to get that started. But if you do ever want to just check out what I have out there already, I do have a YouTube channel, you know, just kind of Sue. and then most socials can find me as just kind of Sue except for tick tock. I'm kind of Sue zero one. feel free to follow me there again, as he mentioned earlier on in the the of the episode, you know, if you want to ask us any questions, because right now, before we start going saying goodbye, we're supposed to be answering questions, but we have no questions yet. TruVillain: Yeah, yeah, we're supposed to be answering It's a sad and lonely segment here. Kainitsu: You guys need to do your part. TruVillain: Yeah. Yep. So yeah, you you can go over to my Twitter X or whatever the fuck you want to call it at the TrueVillain. and that's where you c I have a thread there. You can throw there. Kainitsu: Mm-hmm. Yeah. TruVillain: when we start putting this on YouTube, the comments section, and eventually Patreon. So anyway, that think that's gonna be it for us. So see ya next week. Kainitsu: All righty, thanks guys, have a good one.
