Bryan Alan White: Welcome back. This is the Father's Proxy, where we are, Pro XY. We're your hosts. I'm Brian. This is Jamie Z. last week we had part two of Sean Surtis' testimony. I spoke about his time in the military, his baptism, how he wasn't leading his family. And then he he mentioned that his son had asked him a question about the Bible that he couldn't answer, and that really inspired him to start getting into the Bible and learning more. we also riffed a little bit about the Bible and we started talking about things and Had some cool things that happen because none of that was planned for what we talked about, we were just talking. so it was really neat to see that come to fruition. It was a really fruitful emotional one, yeah for sure. Very emotional, and a powerful testimony. and and just us getting to talk about God, which we love to do. So, today we have another testimony. we have blame with no eyes are wise, Johnson. He has accepted the challenge to share his testimony. and before we get into Blaine's testimony, I do want to talk a little bit about a mission trip that I had the privilege of going on. I I got to go to San Antonio this last week and it was pretty cool, man. It was it was a good time. We went and helped another church out that's they don't even have a church building. they they literally meet in an office building and they have to set the chairs up every week. and then they have to really bring people in because people think it's just an office. So they don't They don't actually come to church. It's not like here where we got churches, you know, the s seats set up in the sanctuary and you just come sit down. They have to set it up and be out and do a lot of things. So there's lots of things that they have to do like that. but they started us out with going and knocking on doors at these apartment complexes that was right next to an elementary school, and it was just essentially just trying to bring kids in to Just spread the word. Yeah, but it was bring them into the elementary school, get them involved, and then all of a sudden, hey, let's talk about God and let's talk about going to church. So they had gave us flyers and we went and just started knocking on apartment complex doors, and there was the first apartment complex we went to, there was a lot of units, and I mean a lot. We had my group, there was three groups that we had, and my group had units one through nine, and also the last one was eighteen. and there's three story floors to each one and we're in the middle of the day going and knocking on doors, just handing out these flyers. And then the goal was just to get, you know, here, hand the flyer, have take it, and then see if we can get kids in. And I ended up getting to pray over nine strangers. It was the first time in my life that I've ever done that. It was really cool, man. It was really cool to have that experience and pray over these guys. it it it helped me, I mean, selfishly, it was like, man, it inspired me. But Just knowing that your words can inspire someone else is a pretty cool thing. And one guy, he was a Spanish speaker only, so he didn't speak any English. And so he and I had this like moment of like, I'm trying to hand him a paper and go, here you go. And he's like, I have no idea what you're talking about. No comprende. Yeah, no comprende. And he takes a picture with his phone of the flyer, and it it AI allowed it to change the language so he could read it in Spanish. So he actually could read that flyer and he goes, yeah. And then I started talking to him again. He goes, hang on. And he pulls his phone again and did Google Translate. And basically as I was talking to him, it was translating. And I asked him, Hey man, is there anything I can pray over you for? And he says, Me familia. And I was like, I I know that one. My family. I got you, bud. So as I was praying, he's listening to it with his phone. And so as I got done, he listened back to the prayer. And it was a really cool moment that we had because neither one of us spoke each other's language, but we made it work. so it was our own little speaking in tongues, if you will. so I thought it was pretty cool that we were able to do that. and then we ended up my son was there, who is a four-year-old, and he got to join us, and so he went and knocked on strangers' doors, which is scary in and of itself. he saw there was like one house that they were They had like blood outside on the ground and we're like, And Miss Christina was with them, is like, I hope that's red meat or something else, and not something crazy. But it it was like they had staged this thing, so it was like fla fake blood, and they had like a Jason in the window and things like that. but that's the one he goes running up and knocks, and he didn't think anything of it, not scared of anything, but he had his little spiel and he was reading. Of course he can't read, which was really funny, so he had to read from the paper every time. It was really cool, but it was really cool to see my four-year-old son getting to do these things and try to bring people to to church and he has no idea what he's doing. He's just out with dad. The Holy Spirit's training him up in the way. Exactly. And that's that was pretty cool for me. it was nerve-wracking sometimes because I didn't have eyes on him all the time. but it was really cool to have that experience. And then the next so that was day one. This was a three-day trip. Day two, we ended up actually going to these apartment complexes and serving these folks. and the first one was an Islamic community. And so there was no Jesus in that unit. and so us just coming in and being there and we forget sometimes that like spreading the gospel isn't just us going and, you know, throwing the Bible in somebody's face and saying, Read this, you need to know Jesus. It's just showing love. And we talked about that in our Sunday school class where one of our members of the Sunday school class, he actually got saved because he just watched Jamie, how Jamie lived his life. And he always brings his Bible everywhere he goes. And that he's just showing love and patience and kindness. And it had nothing to do with Jamie going up and saying, Do you know who Jesus is? It was everything of Jamie's actions. So that was what was cool about this thing is that we're just going out and doing these things. And in this community Like we're just trying to serve and do stuff. But these kids, some of them were really like what we're not used to culturally because there was no please and thank you. It was like, Miss, Mister, give me. And you're like, okay. So many. Yeah. And so I'm on the popcorn. Well, I started out cooking hot dogs, which I cannot stand cooking. I'm not big on co like, I'll do it. But After that was a while of the smell and everything. I'm good. It's the heat coming off of it, and I'm like, man, I don't know if this thing's done. This isn't for me. I'm not a cook. so I'll I will gladly hand that over to someone else. So you're learning the gospel and hot dogs. Exactly. So I'm like praying for God to like, hey, just keep me cool. And not in like not in a physical sense, but like so I don't lose my mind and temperament that I'm just doing what you asked me to do and serving where you want me to serve. Even though I don't like it, I'm gonna do it. so that was the first thing. Then I was on popcorn and we're sweating just trying to get these kids stuff. And as the kids are sitting there, one of the folks that went with us, her name's Debbie Vest, she goes to the kids, as they're like st I mean it's loud. It's it's noisy. I mean it it sounded like you're at a concert, kids screaming, everybody's running. So if you've ever been at like a school yard or anything, you hear those kids screaming, you're like, whoa, I just need to step out from It can increase your anxiety pretty loud. I mean, just sounds everywhere. She says to these kids, and they're standing face to face with us as we're trying to serve this popcorn. How many of you have heard of Jesus? And I mean, silent. It it went dead quiet. I mean, you could hear a pin drop. And it was eye-opening to the three of us serving, because it was brother Cody, myself, and and Debbie her handing these kids these popcorns, and it was like, they haven't heard of Jesus. And Where I grew up, like everybody's heard of Jesus. Like you know who Jesus is. You may not follow him, but you know who he is. Like you know something about him. And they hadn't heard a single thing. They were like, mm, and just complete silence. And it's like, we're here for a reason. It made all the sense in the world when we did that. And they said that. And it was, man, it was it touched my heart 'cause it was like, at least if they see nothing else, they may remember one day that somebody handed them a popcorn and said, because we started calling it Jesus popcorn. I where the seed was planted in the This is from Jesus. This is Jesus popcorn. And they're kind of like, I don't know if I should take that. And I'm like, it's with love. And they started taking it. And then maybe one day that will resonate with them that somebody came here and just gave us popcorn because they loved us. So that was cool. We went to several other apartment complexes. I got a battle wound from said popcorn machine. It the kernel was hot and it flew out and got into my shoe of all places, like a little crevice that's you know, a millimeter thick and it goes f flying in there, burns. I mean, I have a welt on my foot from the stinking kernel. And I'm like, hey, you know, battle wounds. That's that's fine. I'll take it. And at that a complex, this is the last one we went to for the day, which is how we ended our our mission trip, but we had a little bit of a you know, there was stuff going on and we were trying to get set up and the folks that were putting it on at the church were like, Park here. And we're no, we're gonna park there. And then Things like that happened, so we just kind of did our own thing. We're like, We're parking over here. And so we parked over there. Well, I'm about a thousand percent sure it was the Holy Spirit saying park over there, because as that happened, where all the other people were, and again, we have a four-year-old with us. There are two gentlemen, one gentleman that just got out of prison that day who got into a TIFF and they started fighting, and a gun was drawn, cops were called. Now, nobody got hurt, no shots were fired, but Thank God. The Holy Spirit was protecting us and he said, Y'all stay over here. We didn't know anything about it until we left. Wow. It was one of those things like that's what God will do for. That little voice of no. Yeah. It it's amazing. And and even though we're like, you know, maybe we should have you our tempers kinda got flared with the other people and we're kinda like, We're parking here, you park there, but it like one of those things where it's like God had a plan and he made sure that we did what he we it We did what he wanted us to do. You served him, he made do he made sure to serve it all. Exactly. So it was it was pretty cool to see that. And of course it was great time with those folks. and you know, I was I was super happy and I I was glad to get to go on it. So I would encourage anyone that's listening, if you thought about going on the mission trip, it's worth it. And it's not just the glorified vacation. Some people think that, like, it's the way for Christians to go on vacation. No, this is we actually worked and we worked hard. But at the end of the day it didn't feel like we were working. It felt like we were serving Jesus. You know what I mean? It was like it was fulfilled. It's well worth it. Even though we were hot and sweaty and all the things, it was it was worth every second of it. So I would highly recommend you guys doing that. So now we're gonna turn it over to B Lane to share his story. in case you didn't pick up the first time, his his name is spelt Blaine with no eyes or why's. So Blaine, where are you from originally? I'm from Ector, Texas. Ector, Texas. So you're from Fannon County, born and raised. All right. what do you do, Blaine? What do you do for work? So I work at First United Bank. I'm a relationship banker, part of the travel team. So I go all over North Texas. Okay. I'm based out of Bonham, so I help the Bonham Leonard locations mainly. but if they do need that help anywhere else I go there. So what's your like daily st I mean like do you help with loans or No, I do like transactions like deposits, withdrawals. if anyone needs help, you know, with Like wires or pretty much, yeah. customer facing for sure. Yeah. So you and you're going to what I mean, how many how far is it that you go? All of North Texas, there's I believe eleven locations, all the way from Sanger. Okay to to here. So there's Denison, Sherman, Sanger, Pottsboro. You never know where you're gonna go. Yeah, never know. That's never that's wild. May mainly Bonham Leonard, but but you could be in Sanger. Okay. And do you when do you learn of when you're gonna be somewhere? It's not the day of, right? Usually week before, but there are times where it's the day of where they're like, actually we need you to go. They pull that audible on the That's actually happened la this this past week. Yeah. I was in Leonard and then they said, Hey, we need Jim Potsborough. So I was like, Okay. That's that's interesting 'cause I mean I've been in places like that and it's it's it can be hectic, especially driving and doing that and you've got a little, right? so you're married, what's your wife's name? Hannah. Hannah. And then you you got a little Becker. Becker. Yeah. How old's Becker? He is a year and a half. Year and a half. So you got a lot of fun on your hands. And I've got a he's my son, the youngest, is about the same age. A little bit older, but he's a lot. there you You run up to me and just let me pick him up. I'm like, All right, buddy. Yeah, he he gotta meet a stranger. Yeah. No, that's right. So Blame, when did you actually give your life to Jesus? I was thirteen years old. Thirteen years old. w where I mean was it who led you to Jesus, I guess. So y really my grandma. so when I was being, you know, raised up, I we didn't really go to church every Sunday, we didn't go Wednesday nights or anything. and it wasn't until about my, you know, twelve, eleven, twelve years old my grandma started taking me to church on Sundays. and then I would go to Iwanas and stuff like that. I never went to VBS until, you know, this past year. Sure. Wow. and then I had some friends that were that went to Savoy and so they're like, Hey, come come to Wednesday nights. and I had no idea what, you know, salvation or baptism. I never I didn't know any of that. Right. all I knew is there was a Jesus and, you know, I wanted to be with him. I actually with my church that my grandma went to of New Zine, we went to camp one time and I took a friend, he went he actually got saved, when we went to this camp and I was like he was like, Hey you wanna go, you know, back there and talk to him. I was like, No, I don't know what what that is, you know. And I'm just sitting here worshiping, you know, I'm just staying singing songs. and then it wasn't until because that kinda got my attention and so I went to my grandma and was like, What is that? Like what does that mean? And so she kinda explained it and everything and I was like, Okay, well, I wanna do that and she like, Well, hold on, you know, like breaks. Yeah, yeah, you need you need to figure this out. and so thought about it for Probably about a year, I was probably out in when I was thirteen, and it was a Wednesday night at Savoy and I went up to one of the people or one of the, you know, youth and I said, I wan I wanna be saved and so they saved me right there and well Jesus saved me, but they they helped in that yeah and He did save you right they they put out the platform. Right. Yeah. Yeah. And so from there on I was child of God. So were your parents involved in church at all? They were not. they were involved in my life, yes. Yeah. They're they're great parents, love death. both of them are still they're not they're not together, but you know, still involved in my life and love us dearly. but yeah, no, we just we just we might have went Christmas Easter, you know, with my grandma, but it just wasn't wasn't something we did. So And that's the what is it, the Easter Christmas E C E. Every Christmas Easter. Yeah, yeah. So and then what are are they saved now? my mom is. Okay. my dad my dad is too. he was saved as a as a a young kid, but growing up, he was always told 'cause his gr his granddad was a preacher. he was always told growing up, you know, as long as you believe, that's all that's that's okay. You know, you don't have to go s you don't have to go to church. and so growing up I thought the same thing, you know, I just I believe in God so I don't have to go to church. And then I met Panna and she was like No. Which I mean, you just do have to believe. That is correct. But the reason we come is fellowship. And that's it's a whole lot easier to follow God and to follow Jesus when you got other brothers lifting you up, brothers and sisters for the those women out there, but i it's very much easier to do that. So not wrong, but at the same time it's way easier with other people 'cause I mean in the Bible you can see like at the very beginning it's the w the first thing he talks about in there when he says a not good, right? So when we hear not good, it's right at the very beginning where he said, It's not good for man to be alone. It's in Genesis. And so when we get a not good, it's like it's not good to be alone because isolation and passivity will is will kill you. So anyway. How did you end up meeting Hannah? so when I gr I graduated high school twenty eighteen, and then it wasn't until twenty nineteen, me and my dad were fixing up a some R V thing. And he had some extra lumber 'cause we're fixing the flooring in it and everything. And so he told me to go return it at fixing feet up here downtown. And I walk in, Hannah's working and she's in lane two and she goes, I can help the next person. And I like, Yeah, she's I'm going to lane two lane two. Hey, I'm Blaine and you're at the lane two. I'm right here. So I didn't ask her for, you know her number or anything then I just kinda got to talking we found out we have mutual friends. so I went to those mutual friends and was like, what is her phone her phone number? Tell and this is is this before like Facebook, MySpace, all that good stuff? Way after that. after way after But I mean like MySpace was already shut down at this okay So when did you graduate high school? Twenty eighteen. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So when I was getting out of high school we did We didn't have touch screen phones. They had just invented it at the end. My Space Tom MySpace Tom was barely popping off. Okay. That was too much. So you still had the ability to go look her up on Facebook. We didn't necessarily have So would you say that like it was an instant attraction? yeah. yeah. yeah. There you go. Yeah. Like I needed to get to know who Hannah was. Which Perfect. Yeah. I can help the next guest. That would be me. I have all the returns in the world. How many times did you visit Fix and Feet after just just the one just the one. Just because Be honest. Yeah, it was just the one. Okay. Okay. But I had gotten her her phone number, got to talking to her after that too. So I gotcha. And so then y'all started dating and then when did y'all get married? We got married in July of twenty two. Okay. Praise God. Yep. So that was what, four years? Four years ago? Yeah. Four years ago. That's awesome, man. So when did you get involved with Seventh and Main? We got involved with Seventh and Maine. Twenty-four July of twenty-four, I believe. How'd you get involved? Does it just come in one day? So we were trying 'cause we had Becker and we were trying to find a church that had a good like children's and so we visited First Baptist Bonham and I was actually like with First Baptist, I was like, I'm set in stone, like I want to go here. Yeah. and then Hannah was like, well let's least try one more just so we know we've tried more than one. so we came to Seventh of Main and then I was like, okay, I wanna go here. And it's it is very much a family here, man. And that's the one thing like it doesn't matter who you are or where you're from or what you've done, you come here and it we're all standing. Well as soon as we walked in, it was like, Wow, this is great. Like people meeting you at the door, you know, let's show you around. Treating you like family. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like you've been going there for longer than you've been going there. Known forever. Right. okay. So we understand that you had a lots of stuff happen as, you know, after you've gotten saved, which we've talked about, it is it is not easy street once you get saved. Things happen. so walk us through what happens like I guess pick up the story where we you've graduated and I guess is it when you got married when all the trouble starts happening? When I got married. There was a little trouble before with like my grandma dying, I got out of church. Okay. let's start let's start there. Okay, so my grandma died in twenty twenty. and so COVID was happening. Yeah, everything was. She was not, you know, conscious or anything, but she was still alive. Went and saw her, said goodbye. didn't know if it was really actually goodbye or not, but I went ahead and did it. and then I had you know, we left And then I actually went to work and then my older sister called me not long after and was like, She she has passed. so from that happening, you know, it just was terrible. And so got I you know, stopped going to church, you know, wasn't myself, didn't get into drinking. had just turned twenty one, you know, that year and everything. and so me and Hannah were together at that time and I you know, feel like she was really the one that helped me through that. And w she, you know, kinda kept me kept me kept me on track. but I wasn't reading my Bible anymore, I wasn't praying anymore, you know, I wasn't doing any of that, which I wasn't mad at God or for any of that. I just didn't have the the want to. Mm-hmm. It's like a piece of her died with you. Yeah. Like you're just it she left a piece and it's gone. Yeah. Yeah. and so after that, me and Hannah get engaged in 2021, in June. And then we were, you know, still going to church. and then we get married and then probably was six months after we got married. 'cause Hannah had been having e s even since when we got married, she was having hip issues. You know, her hip was hurting, she couldn't walk around very well. and it just got worse and worse and worse. And so we were going to the doctor, but they were just like, you know, 'cause she has lupus, so they're like, it has something to do with that. or and then they finally got to where they were like, We think you might have tore something, you know, something happened. Right. and finally, after we got married, and it just got so bad where she couldn't even put weight on it. And so we finally got to where they would give her an R I. got her in R I and we actually didn't leave town. we went to her mom's bank. Her mom works at the bank too. And we're sitting there talking. Well then the doctor calls and says, You need to go back like now and get it with contrast. so 'cause they took it of the hip, well it just it it did the the top of the of the tumor. and so they did another one of her leg And then that was Friday. He calls that like night like late. It was like probably eleven ten thirty, eleven o'clock, he calls, and he goes, hey, we found a mass. we don't know what it is, why it's there. But it's getting serious. But it's getting serious. Monday you're going to an oncology in Dallas. I have someone they know, they know you're coming, just be there at this time. at that time, you know, I went to the living room just bald because yeah. It was That's your best friend. Yeah. And y'all had just gotten married at this time. Yeah, we're s we're six months in at this time, so you know, it's honeymoon phase to straight. What do we do? You know? Was Background around? No. No. wow, yeah. yeah. so y'all just have each other. That's it. Wow. Okay. Yeah. And then we had to, you know, sit on this all weekend 'cause, you know, everybody's closed. Monday. How how was that? The whole weekend I'm sure was it was nerve wracking. Yeah. Not not a whole lot of miserable. Yeah. And so and then my mind it goes straight into, you know, what do I do? You know, like how do I take care of you at this point, you know? So Monday we go down there, get a consult, and he goes, We're gonna do I believe I if I'm remember correctly, I believe we did a biopsy like within that week where we're in there doing a biopsy. She might She knows exactly, but I don't. but we get the biopsy done and then I believe that next week he comes in, he says it's it's malignant, it's a synovial sarcoma, and it's massive. he he 'cause it was wrapped around her femur. So it wasn't in the femur, but it was wrapped around it and it was it was massive. and it was spreading. Yeah, it was it very slowly, but it was it was spreading, it was getting bigger. So he immediately we start radiation, which they didn't do typical radiation, they did pinpoint radiation. So it saved a lot. Yeah. did that for I think like I think it's like twenty five weeks or something like that. I think it was like twenty f yeah. Wow. Golly. Yeah, and then that's almost half a year. It's a it was a long time. Well there's fifty two weeks in the year. I you're pr you're approaching half a year, you know. So after the radiation they did another scan, they saw that it actually worked. So they're 'cause they told us they said this is either going to irritate it or it's gonna work. It's gonna work or it won't. We don't know. Yeah. Yeah, so so Blaine started praying then, you know, getting getting back right with with the Lord. I was about to say, do you feel like that was kind of a a a wake up call of Yeah, now I really need to get back to him. Yeah, 'cause I was definitely not doing any of that. I was not leading like I was supposed to. I was I definitely s in my opinion started our marriage not on the right foot. It was I don't really I wasn't getting up going, We need to go to church. It was wow just okay Yeah. so we start praying together. you know, we're I'm still freaking out on the inside, not knowing what to do. And you know, radiation, you know you get burns and everything, so having to take care of that and I'm researching everything you can do to help that, you know. it's like you went on serving mode, yeah. As much as you can for her. Yeah. So after radiation was done, that went we went they went into surgery, did surgery. She has a a scar from the top of her thigh all the way down to her bottom of her her n back of her knee. they they got it out. Doctor Stow's great margins. and then she was gonna be on crutches for I don't even remember how long she was on crutches, like six weeks, I think. So long maybe it wasn't even probably that long. And we lived on a second floor apartment. so that was fun. Yeah. So having to help her help her up and yeah. Hop home. Yeah. Luckily we had, you know, my mom, my grandma, the whole family was helping, so it it helped. But full hands on dad. Yeah, yeah. with meals and the community really helped out too with just everything that happened. They did golf tournaments, they did like auctions, silent auctions, all of that. so that really helped too. But yeah, it was it was a crazy, crazy part of my lives. but did surgery. That went really well. and then we had to go through that. She got to walking again. And then the doctor, then we went into chemo. She did two rounds of chemo. it's called the Red Devil. And they there's a reason they call it the Red Devil. It's it's not fun. He told the our oncologist told us that this is going to totally wipe out everything. So she lost her hair. he said that it it could kill eggs. Yeah, he said So not being able to have not be able to have children. He could complicate pregnancy. Yeah, he and he told us that The likelihood of y'all having kids is like slim to none. Like you're not it's not gonna happen. Yeah. Little did he know. Yeah, little did he know, yes. And then so whenever she had her six month follow up, she said, you know, could we try? And he was like, I mean, you can try. He was like, But I'm not gonna guarantee that I'm not gonna guarantee that anything yeah. I'll try. I'll try. Yeah, I'll yeah, I'll give it the old college. It it worked. That was one hundred percent God. Yeah, yeah. It was. Give it all to him by full blown like never do never doing that again. You know, it's I'm full his. We're gonna, you know, go to church every Sunday mor do anything we can do. Did you put the when did you put the drinking down? Did that dissolve? That yes, that does that dissolved as soon as we got the diagnosis of like I don't need to do that anymore. It's it was a immediate It's only gonna make things worse if you really look at I can't do this, you know, not sober, so it's gonna be Kind of snap back into reality. Well, and that's where like repent, where it's like turned the opposite way and I I pre I kind of repented without knowing I repented, you know, I didn't pray that or anything. It was just it was right there in the heart, man. Yeah. Because God knew what it would take. And that's the crazy thing is I mean you look at Job and we've talked about Job, like suffering is necessary for some of us. And I think it was necessary in order to get you back in line 'cause it had to happen to me and I it it was a lot of it wasn't of that nature, mm-hmm but it was like self inflicted suffering until and I think that happened with you self-inflicted suffering where it's like we need this and all of a sudden God slaps you in the face and goes, Are you looking at me now? Let's go. Yeah. And then you go, well this is way, way better. Cause at least I've got peace. Like it sucks, but it's way better.
