Yeah, there you go. What an anniversary present. Putting them on here, making them podcasts for you guys. Okay, Roche and Rachel. I want you guys to tell us your story. We're talking how you met, how you fell in love, when marriage came into play for you guys. And then I have some follow up questions after that. But I want to give you guys an opportunity to tell a brief synopsis of what led to this. Okay. how do we want to tell the story? I don't I'm not a long storyteller. I can be, but we don't have that kind of time. Also, first I wanna say this is the first non sports episode I've ever been on. Yeah. Here we go. So it's a it's a moment for me. Very honored to be here. Yeah. Woohoo. It's yes. I talk I talk like with all three of these people. So we've had a version of this pretty much this whole time they've been here. So I take a lot of pride in this these three relationships. So we're giving you a taste of like We have. And it's no coincidence. This is the first non sports and it had to be like she had to get in here before I got an invite. So I mean I'm not I'm not that bitter, but we'll s you know, we'll see. Fun fact for all the listeners too. Officiated the wedding. Number one wedding in the Austin area. Yeah. Number one officiant. Many many are saying this. Many are saying this. Three right here. So cosigned but it was one of the best honors of my life. I we said it in an episode we were closer to when you guys got married, but it was so cool. We were just talking reminiscing about that 'cause it's just about a year ago, like thirteen months now essentially that we were in Austin for your guys' wedding. You guys throw a hell of a party, but appreciate you I was honored to be a part of that because they're two very special people to me and forever will be. So this is cool to put it in audio and visual proof forever. So okay. Back to you guys. Story. long story short, I think really the origin is Houston, Texas. We we now live in Austin, but prior to moving to Austin, we were in Houston, Texas. We were both frequenting the yoga studio that we go to, Black Swan Yoga. specifically the White Oak location for anyone who's in Houston. Shout out Black Swan. Yeah. no endorsement though, so not that big of a cosign. Hey up, Black Swan. you know, nothing's that free. but yeah, we were kind of during the COVID time, we were at the yoga studio pretty much four to five times a week. and we were taking the same basically instructors all the time. And I had noticed her prior, but I think what really got me to talk to her was a sticker on her water bottle and it was a very specific, like deep cut sticker for the band Vampire Weekend. And I Basically asked her, Is that sticker for Vampire Weekend? And she kind of was off guard because it was like in the middle class, not in the middle class, in the middle of like people moving in and out of class. I don't know if it was before or after. I think it was after. You just turned around and were like, Hey, is that a vampire weekend sticker? Yeah. I was a little taken by surprise because it was not like super clear that it was a vampire weekend sticker. You had to have like deep knowledge of the band. in order to have known that and so I was like, this guy n knows. Many are saying it was a if you know you know situation. Wow. But if you know you know Karma loves that saying just for everyone out there. so yeah, that's kind of how we broke the no contact barrier of just seeing each other in class. And I think one day it was just like a hot summer afternoon and we're at it was after class and really she wanted to go get a snow cone. Okay. And kind of threw an olive branch out there. Okay. And so we had like a really impromptu like hang out at a at a snow cone stand basically. Yeah. And you initiated that, the snow cone. She asked me out. Nice. I don't know if that was like a date per se, but And you had also invited me to a concert already. all right. Cool. Yeah. But it was like she couldn't wait, you know, she couldn't wait. Got it. Some respect. Yeah. should have been there early and like lay some early groundwork for yeah and then that's pretty much how we like really got warmer towards each other and then you know the dating thing but like five and a half months in she got a job in Austin Austin, Texas and that's kind of a huge leap for both of us. she had moved city, she had lived in the Houston area whole life. Me too for most of it, outside of a few years and Yeah, just took a leap and we're like, yeah, this is the this is the chance to kinda take a big risk and move to Austin and just like what three and some change later? Engaged and then married. Right. So did was there interest or w him breaking the barrier with the sticker, was that what piqued your interest? Like was there mutual noticing from the yoga classes? Or what did it take the sticker noticing for you to notice him? So I had seen him around the studio, but because it was COVID times, nobody was really like interacting, getting to know each other. And so I think that was really what broke the ice for me. Being like, he he listens to this band, he clearly knows a lot about the band. Yeah. We started to connect and be friends from that. There's also some other stuff in there. I think I had made like use some lavender coffee syrup. So that was a little I had seen it on her story and I was like, Where's my where's my invite? Yeah. So little flirtations. Got it. Where's my invite? Nothing too crazy, but just like yeah, yeah. Effort. Yeah. It took that six months of like building up a friendship to be like, can we explore this a little bit? Got it. Yeah. Got it. All right. I love that. Okay. So I mean, I could talk stories like that all day, but yeah, in the interest we want to get to a lot of different subjects. But I obviously have known you my whole life. Yeah. you in the last few years. I know you both as independent people. Sure. And I'm not breaking any news. You guys are in your mid to late thirties when you found true like marriage and love right like this. How How did you go about not giving up, but like you're used to your independence and blending these lives together? Were there apprehensions about it? Or like obviously you took the leap to move there. So but what was that like when you guys blended your lives into one city like that? In a new city too, not somewhere you're familiar completely. New city, yeah. New jobs, yeah. Living together for the first time. Yeah. After only like six months of dating. Yeah. It's a big risk. Used to independence too. You guys are pretty like self sufficient aware. Too aware people of like your own. Yeah, it was it was really ripping a band-aid off of the honeymoon phase. Like Yeah fuck the honeymoon phase. Like yeah. This we're doing this thing. So it was I mean it wasn't easy if by any means. Yeah. it wasn't pretty either like the first seven, eight months. It took a lot of growing pains for When you when you move in with someone, I I mean, now that I'm married and engaged at all all those different phases, living with someone is by far the hardest of all. We've always said that we've always said that. And once you start like marrying your stuff and like figuring out where everyone's stuff goes, you're like physically making space and like mentally and spiritually or whatever way is making space for this person in your like day to day life. Those are the like hardest parts. So I think those were the toughest things to kind of give up. Like I'm used to having my records everywhere, my stuff on the counter, or whatever. Like I wanna put my keys in the catch all or whatever and I don't need your stuff everywhere. So it's like you gotta adjust to these little things along the way. And I think those like way harder than I think it was also a level of emotional intelligence that we brought to the table. Yeah. And just the fact that we had had conversation about it even prior to moving to be like I don't ever want you to lose your independence. And so like there's things you're gonna want to go do that you're gonna go do on your own or I'm gonna go do on my own and already having that level of understanding. Okay, so you guys anticipated those conversations a little bit. Like obviously there are things that there were some like A B testing involved, you know, like I like to go to a lot of concerts, for example. You do? Yeah. Yeah. I've gone to a few in my day. But you know When you're in a relationship with someone and if it's like still like seven, eight months in, you don't know the threshold of how many shows yeah your partner would want to go to. Right. I would soon find out that my amount was too many. So it's too many, too loud, you name it. so it's like, hey, you're allowed to go by yourself. I would like to say less. Yeah. You know, it's like it in in a way, you're almost like, I wanna include you because you're a part of my life. Yeah. But then you get this olive branch where you're like, I don't actually need to be there. I was like, great. I save X amount of dollars per show. Yeah. And I can go, you know, like I enjoy a mosh pit or two. there's no way she would go in there with me. So if I was at a show with her, she's not coming in with me. So I'm kind of on yourself. And really I wanna be there. She's preserving your health technically. And then she doesn't want to be there, so it's like a win win in that situation. When you when you are like finally like all right, I'm gonna go to stuff by myself or whatever it is, you're like, this is way better for like the overall health of everybody. Yeah, yeah. Because you're filling your cup, then you're able to like give to her more because you're fulfilled too. Not not to spoil things, but like obviously I I think most number one podcast listeners know is that Steph and I've been together since high school. So that was something that we didn't have experience on, like that idea of combining coming into it, knowing the independence side of it, we had to discover it over time because you so want to include everybody and you're not used to having that time together. But what's interesting is even though our stories are kind of opposites, we've come to the same conclusion. Isn't that interesting? Like we grew up together in our relationship. I mean we're k we were kids when we met and now we've grown into adulthood. But that's one of the biggest pieces we always say to people is remain you have to remain your independence. Like you have to have your things that interest you. Your identity key. Your identity. Yeah. And then yeah, you have your identity as a couple. So that's interesting that you it took us because we had we had a longer runaway to get there. They've done the work individually to do it. okay, so what I want to know is what made you this time, each of you, take the leap of okay, I guess we're doing this to move in together after is there something about each other that's like this is worth the chance as opposed to like all the independence you had? Just how you felt about the other person, like this is this is. I mean, obviously, yeah. I think obviously the way I felt about her had a lot to do with it, but really it was an internal process more than anything. 'Cause it's like I had never really made myself uncomfortable in a lot of my previous relationships, like by doing something that honestly like took a lot of guts. Mm-hmm. You know, there I would come to find out that there was a lot of like gutless or like, you know, kind of like laid back behavior where I'm kind of hands off and just like letting the chips fall and it's like this was kind of my way of like taking control of that situation. Like whatever happens is on me. Yeah. So like this is how I'm gonna like take initiative or whatever like job interview shit you wanna say. But like that kind of vibe for me. Yeah. And I was like I had never taken a risk like that. So I was like, here's a great chance to like Yeah nut up or shut up, basically. You know like Shame it didn't pay off. Yeah crazy. Yeah I'd say also like As independent as we are, I think at the core of who we are, we're both very softer individuals. So have even though that was very risky, the the risk was worth the reward. Yeah. Right. Okay. Love that. I I'm fascinated by that 'cause it's like you did take the chance and had you not it would wouldn't have turned out that way. Like logic tells you be like, let me wage bringing that up, you know, to family members is like, what? Yeah. You're moving? Yeah. And it's not a far move by any means, but I think it's it's the I'm moving in with someone that I've only been dating for X amount of time, which is kind of like bucking trend or bucking tradition or whatever. Awesome. Okay. A little bit about less about your history and what you where you are currently. I want to know like your guys' dynamic communication style, how you guys fight, argue, okay. And how you Resolve conflict. Like I want to know how each of you prefer it and how you've come to a blending a middle ground, or if there isn't a middle ground and one had to meet the other one on how you communicate, conflict resolve, all that stuff. Because when you argue, how do you navigate it? How does it in Austin, Texas. So yeah. So we we like conflict two different ways. Okay. I'm talking to you're out of vocal cords and like figure it out and it's like we're gonna get to the bottom of this no matter what under what any circumstance and it's like we're not going to sleep upset, we're not going to sleep at odds or anything like that. And I would find out that she's not like that. So those are hard days. Okay. Those are hard moments, hard days when you're like, I'm unresolved, but she's okay with being unresolved. It's like I'm going to bed. I'm like there's no fucking way. You know there's no way. Sometimes those days you just wouldn't go to sleep. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it's like I have to find like where's the limit for me. And it's like, okay, we can we can have the discussion, we can try to get through the conflict, but at the end of the day, like I hit that bar and I'm like, all right, time for me to check out. Yeah. It's BT. So we know. Yeah, it's BT. Yeah. BT is bedtime. Bedtime. Yeah. Time to pause. We can come back to this tomorrow. Okay. And that's your way of like, I need to take a second or it's not gonna get resolved. I need some time before. Yeah, because sometimes like I think we're both very emotional people, maybe emotional in different ways. And so in that heightened state for me, I'm like, We're not we're not making any progress here. Yeah. I need to pump the brakes. And even if that breaks means like twenty four hours we get back to this. Twenty four. Yeah. Insane. See? Dang, no no, like no just I probably could have used some cooldown time in a history of high-headedness. Like no judgment, but no doubt. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So where have you guys landed now? A year you're into marriage, but you guys have been together longer than that, of course. Where Is it like have you had to be okay with waiting or are you is there a middle ground? Do you guys have to do one or the other? I always feel like sometimes we take turns with our methods. Okay. Sometimes it's like I'm forcing the issue of talking it out. Uh-huh. And sometimes she's like, We're breaking and there's nothing you can do about this. Yeah. We're taking a beat. Yeah. Yeah. Don't figure your your point of view out. I'm going to bed. I'm like, shit. Yeah. So it's just I don't know. I feel like it's pretty we I don't Think our flights are that bad. So I'm sure it's just big like bigger stuff. But I am always fascinated with the the conflict styles and how you mesh those because I think it's such an important part of a relationship. And I think it happens when you move in together, especially, but if you haven't, it's like an important thing to consider if you're sure if you're with someone or thinking about being with someone committing to them and you or have whatever reason you're not moving in together initially. It's something you definitely need to talk about. About and that yeah probably gets overlooked if you don't live together. That was not a conversation we had prior. No, it's not something that comes up, but it automatically should I'm just saying if you're not gonna move in with your significant other and you're committing long-term, yeah, then it should be a conversation, in my opinion, if I can offer some unsolicited advice, which I'm not scared to do here, obviously. okay. I you kind of mentioned one, but do you guys have like certain tenets or like important principles as a couple that you guys live by? Like I know you said something about you don't like to go to go to sleep angry. are there anything that you guys have that like almost like a slogan or saying that gets you guys you don't have to have one, but is there anything that you guys like have I think I do. Okay. I I think like Wa like I think one of the biggest trends for me personally in this particular relationship compared to like previous relationships is like whatever I did up until this point didn't really work. So I'm open to like other ways and I've it's it was difficult to become open to those ways. Cause you know, you're tried and true in your ways and you stick to your guns, that kind of thing. So I think it took some time to kind of like become a little more open and like, okay, maybe tonight. And then, you know, like sometimes we have like put a pause in it. And then the next day we're like through the rest of that argument in like 10 minutes. Yeah. Right. And I'm like, shit, I hate being wrong, but I was wrong. You know, so I'm like, yeah, that was a good call. But so once he starts seeing like The A B testing workout in the B way and you're like, fuck. Yeah. So that kind of thing. So I just stay fluid, I guess. Yeah. And I would say I don't think we have a slogan per se, but I think the symbology of our relationship we've used the yin yang. Yeah. Yeah. Where it's like, he's a very silly goofy guy. I'm a little more No way. More serious. Damn. and so we just push and pull each other in those directions. Yeah. Right. Is okay, is there something that Rachel's brought out of you that you previously probably like looking back Probably not. not had the been the best at. Like you said you opened up a little bit. Saying sorry. Yeah. Maybe I'm wrong. Those things. Yeah. I think those are like the two like probably most glaring things. Knowing you, like I think you did a lot of work on yourself. So it's like a credit to you. And I know you did the same thing individually, but I do think there's like a level of softness that your partner brings out of you. like just knowing you and your history, like you've had to wear a lot of like protective hats in your time, like played a lot of roles for All your cousins, like siblings, all that stuff. Shielded a lot of things, but I think like she helps you with that shield so it's like kind of a shared thing and it softens you up a little bit. That's my assessment. You don't have to agree. Valid. Yeah. It's also like I've opted out of a lot of those like previous things where I'm like, I need to focus on this because this is what I need to be putting my energy into, not like other people or other families or whatever it is. Like there's a lot of putting you As like the center stage in your own life, yeah, as a people pleaser. Yeah. And like you want to show up for everybody and do all these things and be like a good friend. But it's like if you don't show up to your own things, like your own people will suffer. And it's like I've done that my whole life and it didn't work. So that kind of thing. What about you, Rachel? I was there something he's brought out of you that you previously some in your life would say you did it weren't the best at, but like now they've seen an improvement or like any quality in yours that you've noticed yourself. I think my biggest thing is being accepting of help. I am like the person who's like, no, I've got anything to a fault. On my own. Sure, yeah. Yeah. And that's still something that I'm working through like even currently, probably forever. But having a partner who's showing me that it's okay to not do everything by myself. yeah, yeah. I'm I'm with you on that one. Being on the receiving end of that. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's tough it's tough to buck that like accepting help and yeah I think I'm kind of like a blend of you guys because I like I want to show up for other people but then say that's going to be detriment to myself like so no no I got it it's like no that's what I'm she's always reminded me that's what I'm here for. So yeah yeah okay that was a little bonus when I just thought up top of the dome okay okay so I know we can talk a ton more about your story because we've talked a lot of life, like mentioned at the top. I did want to talk for those that are new to this, a number one podcast listeners, Steph and I have figured we could do the same kind of quick synopsis of our same questions we went through. and we could talk history, a quick history. I think we've talked about it before in our past, but We're now, as we talked about in the previous episode, we just celebrated ten years officially. We went on our trip earlier a couple of months ago, but officially our anniversary just happened. So we had our we've passed ten years, which is wild to think about. okay, so give give the people a brief history from your point of view. I I am enough, fluent in Yapanese, so you go tell the people our history. Okay. From your well we met senior year of high school in our English A P lit class. A P lit, yep. Prem was a well known Kanye fan, huge Kanye fan back in the day. And I had just gone to Wallapalooza that summer where he had lined. And I think I was either wearing something or I don't know, something related to Kanye. And that kind of opened up the conversation in class between the two of us. So the quick story is that I I had friends with I had classes with all of her friends in high school and never crossed pass with her. but I said just like a comment like, something about Kanye, and I'd be like right expecting this. blonde haired person to not agree with me but just kinda like an end to start a conversation. She's like, Yeah, I actually just saw him and I loved him and I was like, What? So it wasn't like you're wearing anything that was but it was like a conversation. I just threw it out there like fully expecting her to be like, I don't listen to hip hop or whatever. You know, like judging a book by its cover, but lone be old should just see him. So you continue. Anyway, so then we yeah, talked in class. You were sly and asked him what colors I was wearing at homecoming because it was right before homecoming. So it's like too late to ask me to be his date. Yeah. But it was in advance. Anyways, so he like matched me that night. We went and it was a big group of friends, like my group of friends. So I was like, let me just match this girl I just met, but we didn't like go together. And it was like she had her own group. This might be a less Instead of asking her like we have talked enough at the time and you're an awkward teenager that was like I didn't know it was a good move, but I was just like, Let me just do it. I gotta pick a tie anyway, but I'm like I'm interested in this girl, but that would be like a move that feels not like an in between. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Anyways, so yeah, so long story short, we started dating in high school. We did long distance in college for two years. Yeah. Then we as pretty as far as you can get from Ohio. I went to Ohio State, you were in school in California. Barbara. Yeah. And then I went back to Ohio and we got engaged right out of grad school. Grad school, yeah. We moved in together right after college. Uh-huh. And then we got married when we were twenty five. Maybe we did five or six, is what we were wondering. Yeah. Twenty-five, yeah. Ten years ago. And here we are, ten years later with two beautiful kids. That's right. Yeah. And a dog. And a dog. Sleeping over there. Okay. So, obviously we talked a little bit about it, but you just mentioned that we kind of grew up together in our relationship. neither one of us had like dating history. So we did a lot of our like Communicative work when we were long distance. We both have credited that time with having like tough conversations, going through insecurities, trust, all that stuff. and maybe we wouldn't have had those conversations had it not been this was for you younger number one podcast listeners, this was a time with a pre-Facetime, so I had to get this is Skype RIP. My laptop didn't have a camera at the time, so I had to get like a camera that plugged into your USB, the whole nine-yard. So shout out Logitech probably. Yeah. Yeah, I think so actually. No free ads though if Logitech's still around. Yeah. So I think also the long distance speaking of independence built up our independence separately, like to become individuals and not be known only as a couple, I would say, wouldn't you? Yeah. Yeah. You know, when I moved back to Ohio State, it was a big a lot of people wanted to make the assumption that like you were the reason I was moving back to Ohio. And obviously it was a huge factor, but still establishing like me as Stephanie, like as this a student at Ohio State. Not just like Kremel's girlfriend was a big move too to help us continue to grow as a couple but still find our own identities as we were growing up and maturing. Yeah. Yeah. okay, so we asked them communication style conflict resolution. So how would you describe how you people. From people behind behind the scenes at our house. Behind the scenes. I mean I think it's a well known fact that I can't hide my emotions. So it's any and I think I've said this on the podcast before, whether Like extreme happiness, anger, frustration, sadness, like it comes out in tears. I mean, and it's one of the things I have been trying to work on with myself because you know, you're on customer service phone call trying to be stern and you start crying. It's not a good look. But I that's come through in our Communication conflict resolution style as well and it must run in the bot gene a little bit. This guy can be a little bit fiery here and there. No way. No. You no. No, you're not gonna yell any cuss words or never happened here. So anyway, so we had to adjust to knowing gonna get sensitive and that you were gonna get fiery and also not to take that necessarily personally but that just is how we were processing our emotions and then like actually talk about the problem, not our reactions to the problem. I think we tend to sometimes can focus in on the reaction versus the yes. Why are we talking about this in the first place? I will say, we've gotten much better at conflict resolution over time and just like, you know, the bickering like hours that you've that that you put in over the course of relationship that happens and like conversations you have. maybe like to avoid like to preempt getting into a conflict, like being aware of your own emotions has grown, I would say. To avoid it blowing into a conflict, I would say. I think that's what we've gotten better at anticipating, I think. It we've both done a lot of work in that sense where it's like we're not we don't avoid a conflict or anything. It's just like, I'm feeling this and also you pick up on things like you guys probably like, I know she's upset, I can tell. there's a body language thing, like are you upset? so I think that has improved over time where I think maybe it got a little more intense before, but it's just you put in a lot of work together and individually to kind of self-evaluate. Yeah. so okay. Conflict resolution talk a little bit about it. we're definitely a don't go to bed with it. neither one of us are. So like but I will credit in saying that we realize that sometimes we do need a Yeah, we are both emotional in our own ways. So we have always strived on wanting to get to a solution, but sometimes when you are just that hyped and it's like We need to be on different floors of the house. We need some time to do something else. Right. now I think our still it's like we have to resolve before the day's done. Before the day's done. Yeah. But I get both like both versions because that also assumes like it kind of makes it so that we can't have an argument before bed. So that's a that would be a tough one that's when he lets to start then. Yeah. Well the night is young. The night is young. Yeah, number one podcast listeners, Steph and Rachel are Wait, way past the Yeah. And Roche and I, if you haven't noticed from some of the podcasts we've recorded, you don't know this, don't look at timestamps. you don't get to see but the last one was like record we started it at midnight central. Yeah. But we were trying to figure out video for you know podcasts. This is all for you. it's for you guys. and so I would say like one of our tenants is not to go to bed angry eventually like of course we need some time. Yeah. And then also one thing we've established that we were telling them about before recording this is not especially since we've had kids where is reminding each other we're on the same team. I think it is easy to kind of get like a competitive competitive sometimes in parenthood, but in just in general. Like it can be with friends, it can be family dynamics, like you have couple friends that gravitate towards one or the other. maybe one's a little bit more social than the other. It's reminding the other person that you are on the same team. so I think that's s I would say it's probably a ten of ours. For sure. But now the times we say it the most like out loud are a road tripling. The kids remind each other that we're on the same team. Yeah. Things that we know are about to be stressful. High stress. We like beforehand always take a moment. Like okay, same team. Got this. What's our end goal? Yes. we yeah. We are 'cause I mean that's always the idea. I think probably some I think we've always done a good job of fighting fear too. Like there isn't anything that goes out of left field or we're not bringing in Sometimes we have to remind each other. my big thing is like with you is like it's not when we're bickering about something, it's not a greater indication of a personality trait of you. It's just an instance. Like and for those that are like, you know, heterosexual relationships, I tend to think just from anecdotal evidence from friends, that it tends to be a guy thing to be like problem solver, problem solver. So sometimes I've had to learn how to just be a listener, active listening. I really work on like naturally I want to solve a problem and sometimes I'll just start out a prompt like, Are you looking for a solution here? Are you looking to just listen? And I think that's little things I've I've done, but Yeah, I think it's very much like a it can turn into like, what are you saying about me or what does this mean? Like, no, what I'm telling you what we're arguing about is exactly what I mean. It's just this, yeah, this last hour, 20 minutes that we got into a con that's what it's about. It's not a better, a bigger indicator of like you as a person. So the people please are in the what's wrong with me? What are you telling me? Yeah. What do I need to do? Okay. So we get any remaining things. That came up after we talked, you talked that you want to cover about your story, conflict resolution, anything for the people, yeah. We feel good about that. Okay. I wanna turn to you two who married into this family. Okay. Okay. This section is called Yeah, Fem or Na of ideas. Say yeah, fem if you agree, nah if you disagree. So there are wrong answers in this one, that's probably. Yeah, this one's kind of a layup, but it's more to set up the rest of it. Okay. Rach and Steph, yeah, fem or na joining this family. Yeah, gosh. Really? Okay. Just kidding. Of course it's a yeah. Okay, that was an obvious one. Okay. Yeah, that was the easy one. All right. So what I want to know, a peek behind the curtain for the two of you and for us, what are some things that like Roche Rach Roach told you in advance of like what to expect with the family? Thinking back to the family you met in Texas, like some of us you met outside of that, like more official events, obviously like us being in Ohio, we weren't able to come there as often. But what were some things like that you knew in advance? Or maybe warned of or like knew you had to come bring bring your A game about this with the family if you can think of anything. and then I got some five questions after that. We're about to be I'll ask you the same question after this. I think the only thing we really talked about was like the level of intensity of your family. Sure. Okay. Like there is a lot of love there, but sometimes, especially coming from somebody who's hyper-independent, to be like, hey, just be aware, like my family can be. Intense. Yeah. It can be a lot. Like just be open to it. And so like that was something that I had to like adjust to. Yeah. You have really embraced it because we I'll say it because I'm part of this movement, but we can be a lot. I know you're too nice to say it, but it's a self-admitted a lot. But it is like just getting to know you, you're like I'm breaking any news here, you self-called yourself an observer. So like it is like taking an active role in the family because you'll get so much out of our family by like kind of just like even just dipping your toe in the water. Like we'll we'll do kind of fill in the rest. But we definitely have mob vibes. Like it is it's like a very like yeah when you're olive when you're here your family. Yeah. I mean you like beforehand, I just knew how important your extended family was. Like I didn't grow up with that. Like I didn't have a close knit extended family. So it was unique to me to see how close you were to like your cousins. It felt like more like brothers sisters, even though you were cousins and lived, you know, in a different state than where you guys were. So you just told me ahead of time like how important those relationships were. But the cool thing about you guys is you you're all about communication and conversation. So like truly if you just Sat down with each of each of you all and had a like conversation you felt like you're immediately a part of the family. So I think I knew ahead of time to like take the time to do that, but also you made that easy because I could just Yeah. Yeah. I feel like it's a hard leash because I think for us we know that like our family is the way it is, but I think the older I got, the less or the more I realized that really no one else has it's not common. It's rare. Whereas we're we're raised in like a culture and society where it's like, this is just like this is what family does and then you very soon find out that it it's not like that. So it can be a lot and it can be like jarring or you know, an intrusion of personal space or whatever you but There are like growing pains involved. Yeah. Did you it's all well intentioned. Very well. Did you guys ever find yourself like, how do I like jump it? Was it intimidating to like jump into like some of the dynamics with us? Like I will say yes as an introvert. Yeah. Like the family can talk a lot. Yeah. And I'm not a big talker. Yeah. I'm more of the observer. And so finding the place where I can like interject. And I'm sometimes I'm like, wait, what anyway? But you're into like you have a pro you have a presence about you. So like it's still like I think you naturally like we're checking for you like you are jump you're comfortable now but then when someone's kind of new and you can tell they're like into it that yeah it's a easy like bring them in type of yeah there's also a level of self-awareness that I feel like I have where I'm like I know I'm an introvert I know I'm gonna be perceived as like is she not interested okay and so like trying to find the balance of like being authentic to who I am but also showing the other people that like yes I'm here I'm trying to be part of the family I want to be engaged. Yeah but how How do you find that perfect balance? Yeah. Interesting. I think I did just you you say you don't even really understand the concept, but like I have a social battery. So like there's a level to how much I can give, and then I get to empty where I'm like I yeah I need some quiet time. I need to hit the hay. Like I mean I I've hit the limit. And I think early on, like you're saying, you want to make that good impression. So you kind of push yourself through. Because you guys can have some Late long We'd be staying up late. Deep conversation. Fun fact we stayed up till four o'clock yesterday. Yeah, just like that. So it can go hard. And then we do it again. There's no break from it. Yeah. So I think like finding of making the effort because you want to show like I'm here, I want to be a part of this family. I want to love you all just like I see you loving each other. But then also like you're saying, respecting how much what you know about yourself and what you can did it make you did it make you nerve. Were you happy that I emphasized how important the the relationship was or did it make you more nervous when I did that? I mean I'm sure back when I was eighteen I was very nervous. But now I I I think I'm thankful for it because I knew Yeah, I mean speaking of taking a leap, you you flew in like for a holiday. Yeah, holiday and came in and to me that meant a lot to me because it was like balancing your family with mine, coming in and doing that. You had to like fly out after that. But it's like that meant a lot 'cause it was a big it's like the first meeting to get to do that. So that always meant a lot to me. But that it is funny to your social battery thing made me think of like something with compromising and us moving in together that we forgot to talk about that we had to come to this realization. You guys had that conversation early about independence. Yeah. We had to come to that with social life where I I had to learn how to not Something I've learned a lot about myself is not learning how to guilt trip and stuff, but I have a big I'm an extrovert in social battery. Yeah. And back when we were social butterflies, it's like I wanted to go out. It had to be like she gave me one day and the deal was if I go out You can't make me feel bad for going out. I will make you feel bad for staying in. And it was like a very concerted effort to be like, Okay, you need this, I need this couch and a blanket, you need that, and to see your friends. So But it was something we had to come to eventually. Like when we moved in, it was like very much a pre I s end up staying in with her and like be huffin' and puffin' and like and have a sour face all night and it's like what is what good was that doing coming to that realization. The truth hurts sometimes self-reflecting. So yeah so anyway okay was there anything you were surprised by with our family like that you maybe weren't worried about or if you weren't Is there anything that surprises you about her? You guys cuss a lot. Cuss a lot. I guess I didn't really cuss about You don't really, again, like you're not in your everyday life, but when you are all together, things five. We becussed. That's all of us too. Even our dads. Yeah. Yeah, that's probably what's the surprise. Yeah. If he's watching. He probably will watch this episode. Just know. Yeah. Especially since these two are here. They're only gonna watch because they're on it. It's not enough that his own son and his his nephew are on here, but it's like My mom will actually watch it too for once. Non-sports content, guys. They'll actually maybe watch this one too. No, I don't want to watch myself. So that's not worried. Yeah. Maybe they'll listen to it. so cussing, anything for you, Rage, that surprises you about us? I think not anything that I wasn't warned about, but I think like it's always surprising to me like the level of warmth that exists within the family, even though like I know we've we talked about it and Like it just exists within this family and I think that that is something that is just very surprising and it's such like a nice thing that exists to be like, like families connect like this, like all the cousins ride for each other, everybody loves each other, like no matter where you're at, what's going on, yeah, like they will be there for you like in a second. Yeah, facts. Yeah. Yeah. that's unique like right it is it is very unique and i'm very it's one of the things i'm most proud of and then yeah you're right later in life you realize how rare it is because it's like people don't have that with their cousins and i'm your homies will tell me you know so it's just yeah we hear a lot of like wish we were they're always trying to be like honorary bots and stuff like and we gotta jump your ass in yeah but i'm very proud of like the the group dynamic we have and like each of the individual relationships That we've we've developed like each combo of two or three has like their own dynamic too. And then us as like a group of seven and now expanded to include more is is so much fun. Like yeah it even I well I don't I won't speak for limited social batteries, but it's like very it fills up my cup. Like I'm always so bummed to leave that. Yeah. like your guys' wedding was so and we talked about this closer to it, but it was such a like I think of it so fondly because we get such you and I both talked about it afterwards. Like we got such quality time with everybody and it was like combinations of individual cousins of household. Yeah, it's not as easy anymore. Like you you have a lot of in adulthood and stuff, yeah. Yeah. so anyway, you guys already talked about this. My other question is what have you had to adapt to? It's probably is it safe to say like come and play socially in the late nights? Ditching the BT every once in a while. Yeah. Okay. Your stomachs needed to build up a little bit of what's your trying to say? What you're trying to say. There's a little more s spice in the food than a little more spice, a little more alcohol than alcohol. Yeah, we can drink too. That's right. That's true. Okay. Alright. Everyone podcast listeners, that was our yeah, fame or not. Yeah. I Really grateful for that. I love getting perspectives on different relationships. It's fascinating to me to hear like how people navigate that and like stealing good ideas from other couples and people I care about. Like I love to see how they function and how strong they are. Like the inner workings of it fascinate me. So hopefully you dug that number one podcast listeners if you're listening or watching. so You know what time it is. We still have to include this section. And I want to get as you can tell, these very warm two people in our lives that make each of us soft and less spiring. Yeah, a little bit. We did want to bring them into our world by having them do you played yourself in MIHD. So without further ado, we still want to deliver on some you played yourself. So normal podcast listeners, it's time. So you two. I think you've been explaining this, but for you folks that are joining. joining new since some of you maybe don't watch the sports editions of these, you played yourself as our opportunity to talk about things that It's probably like a result of you a person not or a group not doing something right and they got what they deserved. It's like our addition of calling out karma happening in real time. it it is very meant to be playful sometimes. it is a lot of think sports, like they didn't prepare enough and they lost really badly that kind of energy as you played yourself. So Without further ado, I am gonna ask each of you to provide a you played yourself. so we'll start ladies first. Rachel, do you have one in the chamber for you played yourself? I do. All right. My yeah, my you played yourself goes out to Charlie XEX. what? Yeah. I am a huge Charlie fan, loved Brat, listened to her for a long time. so glad to see like her rise to fame and like everything that happened through the Brat era. I'm not here for the new album. The new songs that have come out. I'm like, you're trying to put out a rock album. it's not landing. Don't know what's going on. It feels like she's just trying to bank off her fame. Phoning it in. Yeah, phoning it in. Yeah. I didn't know that. I've heard her grumbling around. Yeah. Like I didn't I don't even I mean I liked a little bit of it, but I do think it's like pretty mid. But I have heard her hating about it, so Damn, I yeah. That's tough because that is your one of the first like Yeah. That was one of my favorite Rachel moments is like seeing her vibe to her her jam. It was like, you know, like you always see it, the couple jam into their song, and it's like that's a Rachel. That was her song for sure. okay, that's damn. So Charlie no hate. Step it up. She still has like nine songs or so to win you back. Yeah. That's true. Okay. If you're if the singles aren't good, that's a bad song. Okay. Steph, your turn. You played yourself. What you got for us? mine's a little playful. It's a little silly. They are, yeah. Yeah, I guess they all can be. But I'm gonna say I played myself. Okay. Well what I mean by that is so it's summertime right now. It's June. I'm a teacher, so it's summer break. And in adulthood, you don't get like time off like that. So as a teacher, it's very unique aspect of our job that we get extended time off like this. And you jump into summer as a teacher like, yeah, you know what? No work. time for myself, get all the stuff done. But really what you do is you just busy yourself all day long everything. So I played myself. It's not actually relaxing time. It's not a break. It's just a different kind of work. Yeah. Also I will say love to all of our teacher friends. very proud to be married to a teacher and a grandson of a teacher. All the we have very important friends in our life that are teachers and do a lot of great work. Yeah. you guys so quickly forget what day of the week it is in summer. Yeah, it's kind of wonderful. It's like you gotta go to work today? Like, yeah, it's Monday. That's how it goes. But yeah, you are a bee bopper during summer. Like you I constantly have to tell her, like, you know, you don't have to do something. Yeah, you know, when the boys are napping. You can in fact take a nap. You can in fact watch the TV show, it's allowed. I'm also still here to help. So it's not just a mean thing though, like I have painting multiple rooms in their houses right now, you know, redoing porches, like moving houses, like big you just you save all these projects for summer because it's you don't have the energy or the time during the school year. So then you do all these big things during your month or two off. Get very ambitious. Yes, you get very ambitious. Yeah. I joke 'cause usually we are pretty like equally and like contribute a lot to the same big events, but we we'll talk maybe a little bit And what you feeling, but recently took a trip and I contributed nothing to the planning because she took care of it all. And I was like, I think we're going here on this day. Yeah. I felt really bad about it, but it was like because she's in summer, she's like, What do you think about this? Next thing I know, it's like, here's what I booked. And I was like, I'm not used to being a passenger princess like this, but we usually like operate as a team and know the itinerary. We're both type A like summer time B is crossing things off the lens. Yes. if you know most teachers, they're pretty type A, so they're all getting stuff done right now even though they deserve the rest and it's a good PSA that they deserve to be paid more so yeah shout out yeah you played yourself local governments you played yourself yeah okay if you see if you're watching you probably saw Teddy's head pop up here shout out shout out our dog teddog so okay Rush, you gotta you played yourself for us. I don't have anything too spicy. I will say, anytime I'm away from home, I think one of the easiest things to do when you go Or take a trip or anything is to support your local economies of the local businesses and all that. I I just hate a Starbucks. I just hate a chain coffee. You know, going around a city I haven't been to in a long time and just checking out local food, local coffee. If you go to chains, you played yourself. Support your local neighborhood joints, keep them in business, tip them. etc etc go to your local coffee joints yeah love it love it we haven't been to a single chain since I've been here no we're in the Midwest yeah anyone can do it yeah I will say I know my crowd too so If we're talking aesthetic, these are probably the two highest aesthetic people I would I know in my life. So like it I feel not that they're putting pressure on me, but I feel pressure to hit on that. You know, like when you're ho number one podcast is how to walk in. When you're hosting people you care about, you feel pressure like that they you know the anticipation of like wanting them to like something that you like so much. So I find myself everything's been based around food, as you guys have noticed. so I'm like waiting around for them to like, and what you think? As if I cook the food myself, like they can't they they're allowed to not like it. But so I'm sure everybody's had that feeling of like that want because we love hosting, both of us love hosting, but the idea like wanting people you care about to like what you like is like quite a thing. Okay. My you played yourself and I wanna address kind of go f because this clip went pretty crazy on our last episode. my you play for so goes to people making their favorite artist their whole personality. Yeah. and Rachel's just perfect because she she's calling out her own own favorite. Like I asked her I just write up for you. Yeah. I we didn't even plan that. I asked her like first thing when I got to Austin last year for wedding like, give me your like Mountain Rushmore artist and like Charlie XX like easy first answer and she just was Willing to call out her own favorite artist. I have a history of loving Kanye West. He is no longer my favorite artist. Like, you cannot, you are allowed to separate things. Yeah. This is a PSA that you do not need to make your favorite artist your whole fucking personality. Yeah, thanks. Number one podcast listeners. If you're watching, this is specifically at you, Drake fans. Yeah, I'm talking to you. Aubrey's Angels. We had a clip where Roche called out his newest three projects: a whopping 43 seconds. Songs, you called it what'd you call it? 43 pack of ass. Perfect. It is okay. Nothing will happen to you. I promise. If you say your favorite artist didn't release a great project, there is no one checking to make sure that you blindly love everything they put out. It's okay to have an opinion on something. You don't have to love everything that your favorite artist put out. It's okay to call them out. You are not getting paid, you drag fans that search hashtags for Iceman. Yeah, we set you up, and you fell. hook line and sinker for and here I am pulling another clip and we'll see if you find it yeah so you played yourself should we put the Swifties in on this too yeah yeah and I'm scared of them I am just kidding I'm just kidding all due respect I'm scared of Swifties I will say and yeah Disney adults we will be also but I will say Don't tempt me, Disney adults. Like we're getting close here. You guys scare me a little bit. For sure. but you played yourself close to if a favorite artist is your entire personality. It is okay. You can not like everything they put out. Yeah. If they're just putting phoning it in. My I have this joke that Drake could record himself making fart sounds, and you guys would think it's the best thing ever. So like just stop yourself, okay? And before you do anything, me saying this doesn't mean I'm automatically a Kendrick fan. Like I can say that Kendrick's album wasn't up to it just like Drake's. Yeah. You can. It's possible to not like everything. Yep. And there's like some stupid comments like why'd you listen that? I'm like, how would we know to have an opinion on if we didn't listen to it? I'm not an uninformed hater. I'm not going hate on things I know about. We're not hating blindly just like you shouldn't like love everything blindly. So You played yourself, Chris, I was making favorite artists, their whole personality specifically, and you Aubrey's angels. Okay. Now, number one podcast listeners. We're gonna switch over to M.I. Hayden. So you maybe ask yourself, sounds pretty similar. MI Hayden is our version of a hot take, something that might be considered controversial, but this podcast is a safe space for that. So, number one podcast listeners, if you're watching or listening, feel free. You can always send us in your MI Hating. Some of you have been featured on it, but You guys, it's now turn for Am I Hayden and we'll start with the ladies again. So what we want from you is Am I Hayden? A basically a statement or a take that is most likely clearly hating, but we have your back. We'll allow it. Yeah. So Rachel, you have an Am I Hayten for this episode? Am I Hayten? I am a pickle connoisseur. All right. we go to our local farmer's market, pick up pickles all the time. Pickle has become a really big flavor. Yeah. On the map recently. Yeah. Pickle everything. Yeah. We saw Picklepalooza. Yes, we did. We did drive by Picklepalooza. Am I Hayten? Pickle has overstayed its welcome. That's a flavor. Hell yeah. The pickle, everything, everywhere. Yeah. Time to move on. I like it. I I had that same thing with like I really like bacon but like the bacon flavor stuff very doesn't do it. Yeah. okay, do you find like since people know that you like pickles like do they wanna get you things that are like pickle flavor or like are you like, this look at this. It they think it's like intentionally turn it down. Okay and let them know I'm like 'cause you didn't. We passed by pickle pluza and I'm just finding this out here. huh. Yeah. 'Cause you guys talked about it like you get good ones, but I just thought it was like okay, we just like a grillo sticker on her water bottle, no free ads, but still. So that you did hide that keep that close to the mess. So I like that. I like this subdued up like things that affect your own universe. Yes, yeah. Okay. I love that one. Am I hate? Okay, Steph, what's your am I hating for? Am I hating if I say Fourth of July is the worst of all the holidays? love that take actually hate that holiday. It's just like I I don't get anything out of it. I don't like fireworks. They're just loud and obnoxious. And as someone with like anxiety, I hate the fact that just random people think they can shoot off in their backyard. Yes. Wherever they are. You're on record on a prolay episode. Hate no fireworks. Yeah. We don't need to have a dog that's anxious around fireworks. by the way. but dog owners everywhere probably agree. Yeah, dog owners, people with kids. I don't get it. I just it's not a holiday that I get any Joy or enjoyment out of and especially like just, you know, in our current state of the universe. I don't really feel much patriotic parasit at all. So yeah. I like it. Is are there I'm sure number one podcast listeners, we want to hear from you. Is anybody's favorite holiday fourth of July? Like there's got to something above crazy holiday. Yeah, be a crazy one to have like ranked above anything. But I think you just like the glizzy a lot, you know? Yeah. Cookouts. Yeah, I guess. That part is probably the bet yeah. Yeah, but we have toddlers now, so we eat hot dogs enough. I don't think that's a strong. That's true, yeah. Very true. Okay, Roush. What you got? Am I hating? So we discussed our you played yourselves and am I hatens prior to being on sex post. You know, I had to like let her know I'm like, hey, you're gonna put on the spot. Yeah. You're gonna need these locked and loaded, ready to go. So my am I hating was in relation to her you played yourself. Yeah. Because and then you kind of added to it, so that's adding to yours now. Alright, here we go. And it's but I I've tweaked it a little bit. Am I hating if I s if I say that you guys aren't hating enough? huh. It's okay to like because it's your favorite artist, you don't have to like everything. In fact, I would argue that it makes you a better fan that you're not settling for a mediocre product from someone who has a track record of putting out great products. If you put out album cover, if you're a photographer, or if you put out songs or movies, there's a lot of directors that just start phoning it in after a certain part, they win an awesome. And then like the next three movies they've been a part of suck. You can say their movies suck. Just because like Scorsese has the departed, right? Yeah. Doesn't mean the revenant doesn't suck. Yeah. That is a real take I have. But wow. The revenant sucks. You're you should be able to say this. We should have talked about that a few years ago. And I mean, yeah, you should hate more. Yeah. So am I hating if you say if I say you're naive enough? Great. That's great for us. Great news for us. Lock in people. Okay. my MIHane, I've talked to you guys about this, and I Think I might be hated, but either way. okay, n number one podcast listeners, am I hating if I don't understand people who don't try new food? Yeah. Okay. Okay. Hear me out here. I feel like I've talked about you will die on. It is a hill on die. Like okay, so we're talking about this. You and I both love food. Like we don't have a travel bug, but any travel we do is based around food. You guys have noticed this trip has been based around food, like the places we've taken you. Like you said, like trying new coffee shops, trying to do like new delis, whatever sandwich shops of it. What I've come across in life is it probably it bothers me more than it should when people don't even try a new food. I get not committing to a whole dish, but if I'm offering you something that you have not you have not had before, you won't even try a bite of it to tell me you like it or not. To me, that is ridiculous. Yeah. And like I I have this. This is like one of my things I'm very aware of that I don't want to raise picky eaters. So right now it's tough for me right now because they're toddlers, but I have it on the forefront to like when they can start comprehending things, like making them try things. Like yeah. my kids recite a rule that you can't they know at least that you can't say you don't like something if you haven't tried it. So they know that saying. and I implore some of you Out there, it's okay. Like, I'm not above getting chicken tenders somewhere, but if someone you're eating with offers you a bite, like try something out of your comfort zone. It will not hurt you. You're not committing to an entire dish. I'm not asking you to order something out of your comfort zone. But if I'm offering you a bite, like at least fucking try it. If you were raised in a house where you didn't expand, like that's a great way to be introduced to new foods. And there's a whole world out there for you of really good food. That is you're probably not even thinking about. Maybe you're blissfully unaware, but this is am I hated for a reason and I probably am. So should it bother me? No. No. Does you having bland ass food have any impact on my life? No, but right now it is because I'm talking about it. So some would say yes. So am I hated? Probably, but not really. Try new food. As a former picky eater, I wouldn't say you were helped. Maybe willing to not judge a book by its coverage. I don't think I wouldn't call you picky, I think you've expanded your palette, I will say. Because I'm a very adventurous eater and I'll try anything. surprise, surprise, but no just kidding. okay. All right. Great MI Haden, great, great debut for you. Great you it's been you last time you hosted Am I Hayden wasn't a thing, I believe. So yeah. So this is brand new for you. Okay. you played yourself obvious, obviously. Okay. So number one podcast listeners. I have a Wanted to do for who you got and what you feeling. So who you got is our version of like pick them, like we usually do sports picks and stuff. So what I thought would be fun is to do the newly wed game essentially. So those of you number one podcast listeners that don't know, you ask a question, for example, I asked a question to Rachel. we use the example of Let's say your favorite food, I'm asking it to Rachel, but Roche is gonna write write down before Rachel answers, write down what he thinks she is going to answer. And we're gonna see if you guys say the same thing. Right. Okay. Yeah. so I won't use that one as an example, but I got You'll have to write your answer in secret a little bit. after I a so you'll have to pause a second when I ask you question. so all right, we got markers, so those of you watching visually, I will narrate this, but we're gonna play this game and maybe do like one each year so that we can see if you guys know ball. All right. Or you are surprised by the answer. Doesn't matter, but okay. So I will ask this first to we'll use the example we'll ask it to Rachel. So you're gonna be answering what you think she's gonna say here in a second, Rush. Okay. So what is Rachel's favorite emoji that she uses and what's her ooh most we'll just do yeah, we'll do favorite emoji that she uses. Like emoji that I use most frequently? yeah, there's a difference. Okay. Two answers. Okay. Is it most frequent or favorite? We could do a two parter. Do you do you have an answer for both? Or is it the same answer? It's not the same answer. Do most frequent then. We'll do most frequent. I think frequent's less fun. But I'm gonna do both. I'm gonna do it. You're gonna do both? Yeah. Alright. Are we reversing it? Yeah, reach for each of us. we'll we can do the we can do the same question. All right. Okay. I'm gonna think about favorite. Yeah. I wish I could look at my phone, but I feel like you're not a super emoji user. Other than I'm gonna pretend like the only person you text is me. Okay. All right. All right. Okay. So Rachel, we'll say we'll see if you get it right, but Rachel, first answer for the people. What is we're gonna do the most used first? What's your most used emoji? The red heart. Red heart. And what's your favorite? Disco ball. Alright. Okay, Roach, how'd you answer? Frequent, I put KISS and the favorite I did get disco ball. alright. That's cool. You that's the one you wanted to answer anyway. that's the one I wanted to answer. Alright, I'm So should we answer a different one? Like I think maybe we'll do a different one. Yeah, okay. So Steph, I will ask it to you here. and I'll just say it verbally what you answer. I won't look here. Okay, so Steph. What is This is my answer. Yeah, this is your answer. I'm gonna I have some some on here, some try to figure out which one to ask you. Okay. What is your favorite TV show and we'll do favorite movies since I've known you for a while. So your favorite TV show, your favorite movie? Of all time? Yeah. Shit. Yeah, if I know yours. Okay. TV show and yeah. I can't look. Good thing you're covering it. I went to lean back for camera purposes, but I'm curious what you're gonna say about TV show because I thought that was a given. Okay. No hints. Sorry. No hints. This is the onlyweds game. Alright. Yeah. Okay, So I think for TV show, I'm gonna go with Gilmore Girls. Friends, friends. No, no, friends. Did you peek? No, I swear I didn't. Friends is yeah. 'Cause I'm thinking that's your most quotable. That's what she likes the most of the And my favorite I think favorite movie I'm gonna go with her comfort movie is a Leak of Their Own. That's what my guess is. Good movie. That is a really good movie. That's that's her comfort movie which is my comfort movie. Sorry, I didn't write down. I know it's Lewis. I should have known that one. Yeah, that's nostalgic feels like. More is also a comfort show. That is a comfort show. Friends is like But best overall show, most watch Friends. Okay. All right. They will say League of Their Own is a movie I can watch over and over and over again. Okay. All right. trying to think of a good one. I wanna do like a surface level one and then we'll do like one cute coupley one okay all right so this is gonna be one like a surface level one for that roche you're gonna answer okay so I'm answering for him you're answering what he's gonna tell the people what what it is so I'm gonna say what is your favorite food and your least favorite food a two-parter so you don't necessarily have to write it because you're just gonna tell us here in a second. She just needs to write it. Okay. So favorite food, least and least favorite food. Yeah. If I had to answer this one like least, I don't For me? No, if I answered it, like what would you answer for me for the least favorite? Chocolate. Anything chocolate? yeah, like okay. It's a pretty good one. I don't think I don't know what I would I have a lot of least favorites. I I gotta decide on where to go with this one. Okay. Well we're gonna find out when you have to answer in a second. Are you ready? You have your answer? I do. Okay, let me think of my least favorite. Okay. Give me like thirty seconds. I think for you you would say peanut butter or like chocolate. Things. I I wanna go like okay. That's not your establishment. So I'm gonna go establish. Alright, wait. No? No? That's not how you guessed? No. Okay, well we gotta go anyway. Alright, rush, answer. What's your favorite food? Okay, favorite food, I'm gonna go chicken wings. Okay. And least favorite. Least favorite food. See, like there's a lot of Indian dishes that I grew up with that would be Yes in this category. Okay. Hear ya. So I mean like Panera as an establishment. I fucking hate Panera. That's a great okay. So it's hard for me to go anything other than that. But let's hear your answer. Yeah, so Roche is a real hater on Panera. I got one out of two, so favorite food. Chicken wings, least favorite food, anything eggplant. Yeah, and one of those Indian dishes is an eggplant dish. Yeah. So yeah. I'll give you like 20% credit. Okay. 20%. Alright. Now I'm trying to think of a like you you have to do one. Yeah. Okay. I I need to guess your answer. we don't want to repeat one, right? No. Okay. Yeah. Alright. Alright. Alright, we'll do this one. What is one clothing item or accessory that is my favorite or I couldn't live without? Well, that's an easy one. Is it? Am I right? Who's writing it down this time? You wr you you write it down and I'll answer in a second. Do you know? I should just tell you. Or do I write it down, right? Yeah. Alright. Okay. It's like You said can't a clothing item you can't live without, right? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Alright, I'm ready. Ready. Watches. yeah. Yeah. It's like that one's like kind of easy. That's an easy one. all right. Do we want to lay it lo I say we yeah. Yeah, watches. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Do we Well we'll we'll do like one deep one that we'll both we'll both answer for the other person. Okay. So and we'll take take a second. Okay. You guys all wanna do the same like question between couples? Okay. Sure, yeah. Alright, you each got one? Yeah. Okay. Let's see. all right. I say we should do okay. Favorite memory together. jeez. Damn. Yeah. That's a big one. That's a tough one. We do they guess each other's? Yes, what the other person. I feel like it needs to get a little more specific. Okay. Because we could go either, we could go like a favorite, like Like I don't even I don't even know how to there's too many things. Okay, how about this? We'll do it fun. We'll do we'll do each other for so long. Yeah, I know. Yeah. How do you choose a moment between ten years? eighteen technically. Yeah. Fair eight. Fair. Yeah. That is tough, but I was gonna go r like recent I wasn't gonna go like obvious answers like wedding day or whatever. Yeah. I was gonna go we'll switch it up 'cause I think I wanna do a fun one. I was gonna go with our our trip to Italy. But yeah, but that's like recent. Yeah. Okay, so we'll do the other person's pet peeve. Mm-hmm. How about that? What is the other person's pet peeve? Okay. Or like the pet peeve in the other person like what bothers you about him? Ooh, what bothers you about her like having different yeah. So pet peeve is like with other people. So I'd say what would you say you're like so I'm writing? What's something they do that kind of like bugs you about? So I'm writing what she does that bugs me. Yeah. And then she'll answer like what I think he's gonna say. Okay. Alright. All right. So they're you we'll each do it for each other. We'll we'll take turns. So who's the it's her pet bee right now? Or my pet bee for her right now. Yes. And she's gonna say, I think what bothers bothers him that I do is X, Y, and Z. Like Okay, okay. And vice versa. Okay. Alright. So I'm I'm guessing like what Steph gets bugged by that I do that bugs her. and Yeah, yeah. think about like what I think you'll answer to. So do I I say what I wrote. Okay, so I want first I want you to say like what bothers you about what I do and see if I answer right like what I think you're gonna say. What bothers me about you? Yeah. Okay. About you all. wrote down that yeah what does it say cupboards and doors open or have piles out. I put piles of papers and stuff that I think she's gonna answer. Yes. I did her pet peeve yeah I think you were supposed to write like what you I'll flip it around. This is a self-aware moment for her, right? Yes. Right. So I need to write down what you were anointed with me about. Yes. Okay. Like yes, you're I guess I agree, at yeah, exactly right. Yeah. Okay for those keeping track. Okay, you guys go. Yeah, his pet peeve for me is being a micromanager. No, it's not as it's not as bad as overly anxious about time and punctuality. I am a chronic offender of CPT. Yes. If you know you don't know what that means. If you don't know what you know it it wasn't for you. Yeah. people know. She is like, if we need to be somewhere in an hour, she's like, are you gonna get ready? I'm like, we don't have to leave for 45 minutes. So I have not done that yet. Yeah. Okay. I love that. And when she says micromanagers for the record number one podcast listeners, when I'm like cooking, for example, I leave a trail of like what I've done. Yeah. And I have to once I'm done cooking, I have to go back and retrace all my steps. She can't wait for this for that five. He is very ADHD. I'm the micromanager who comes and picks everything up. I was using that. Okay, it's been there for two years. When? Like two or twenty minutes ago? Yeah. Cap. Okay. All right. So, Roche, what do you think what do you think Rachel's gonna say? For for mine? Yeah. I mean, I think I have the same one as you. I like that I leave cupboard doors open and like sometimes I'll just like stay at the fridge and like forget what I'm doing. Yeah. So I leave the fridge door open and then I'll walk away and do something else and I'll be like, the fridge door's open. Yeah. Okay. He is correct. Okay. All of the the cabinets open. I there's a row refrigerator open. I love that. It's a specific refrigerator that makes her like raise her voice. really? Yeah. Babe. Refrigerator. I have a very specific memory in my mind of coming home from work. He's working. I walk in, the fridge is open, and I'm like. How long has this been open? He's like, probably like 15 minutes. Yeah. Cool. Great, great. And just for the record, my home office is seven feet from the roof. It's very close. So you could just spit that chair over. If I really just turned like 50 degrees one way, I would have seen that it's open. Wow, this AC is working really well today. It's cold as So anyone from my job is watching. That's how locked in I was at work. Locked in, yeah. Clocking in at the locked in factory. Wow. Okay. So what what what would I say bugs Okay. Alright. I think you get annoyed by me, right? Yes. Okay. I think it we disagree on like when to do chores. She wants she has a whole to do list like and she wants to do on weekends and I'd rather save weekends for like fun stuff. So that's my answer. Also like part part of it is like be be bopping in the sum like just full to do list. Sign some chill. Yeah, like not able to relax. Well I was gonna write that down. I wasn't sure that was a pet peeve. you wrote like a mundane thing. Okay. What'd you put? I wrote that like you don't like that I just throw things out. yeah, that just happened. Like she just cleaned out things. If something's been like sitting there for long enough or like doesn't have a just put in the trash which is probably a bad habit but like on live with that no and he saw about that. Yeah. that I will say I'm sure there's I'm curious about this. I need a paper clip. It's not that small. But no do one of you break down boxes and the other not at all? I should have broken that down. We're pretty good at it. You're both yeah we're pretty good at it. Okay, so that's my other one is I'm cleaner just throwing the boxes full box like that stereotype of relationships. Yeah. So then or the other one is like putting like a takeout bag that takes up a brand new trash bag in the in like the kitchen trash where I could just go throw it out like a crotch. Open the trash and if there's like a big two or three at the top of the trash bag, he'll grab those two things and walk it out to garbage trash to save the rest of the bag. The other bag stays clean. Yeah. Ballnower. Ballnower, yeah. One of one of us I stand with Primal. I stand with Primal. I do that all the time. Okay. little logistics, but we got through it with newlywed game. I think it was a nice test. I think we know each other, so we had some like answers. We wouldn't have got points for it, but like yeah. Still brownie points at home. Okay. it wouldn't cause any conflict later. Okay. Number one podcast listener. I also want to do something, especially for you, people tuning in. So I want our guy Josiah to introduce this brand brand new segment. It came from his brain to do this on the podcast, but yeah he's gonna intro this brand new segment and without further ado take it away Josiah. Prem Brulee: Yo, it's your boy Geppet O Archibald coming to you live from Texas. Hope all is going well. Me and Roshan came up with an extremely official rating system on food and drink called gas or ass. Basically, if the food is good or great, it's gas. But if it's not, it's ass. We've since expanded it to Prem. And had him join in on the action and now we're expanding it to you, number one podcast listeners. Ya Couple's Edition VI: Alright, number one podcast listeners. So Josiah introduced it for us. This segment, this new Who You Got is called Gasser Ass. I'm very honored, but Josiah and Roche used to do this together and they so graciously brought me into this this created group chat at Gasras. Steph has seen me recording videos about it. She's been featured in one. I think the boys have. Yeah. Yeah. And for the record, this is a Josiah idea that I was brought into. Okay, so shout out him. Full credit. Shout out our guy. He is the creator of Gaseras for sure. so since it was expanded to you, Josiah, the the godfather of gas or ass, blessed us with the opportunity to do it on here. So since we're on the visual medium, I have brand new items for you guys. Okay. I haven't tried two of these. Okay. but I believe all three are new to all of all of you. Yeah. And one of them I have. So this is basically it's pass or fail, gas or ass. I'm giving you that you've never tried before is gas or it's ass. It's a very official scale. you can do it at home too. Yes. okay, so yes, we do have a group chat full of selfie videos of us trying food, and it is a lot of fun. So shout out you and Josiah for bringing me into this. And it's anything from a new flavor of soda to a snack we've never had. So all right, so we heard the we heard the man. It's time to debut this. If you're watching, if you're grossed out by people eating things, I guess, sorry, maybe look away. But this is a very important addition, so we want to bring you in. Okay. So first item I have for you. Okay. It's not a secret. It's not like a blind taste test. So but they didn't know these before. So the first thing I saw was a frosted strawberry cheesecake pop tart. Yeah yeah. Yeah there you go. In plus yeah And unlike an influencer, I opened it upside down. So curtain here. Okay, so I figure I could just open one pack since you guys are just trying to bite. I feel like I should show the people what it looks like. In execution. I'm a cold Pop-Tart eater. I don't know if other this is gonna be blasting to people, but I don't warm-up Pop-Tart, so that's how we're gonna try it anyway. So All of you this is one's gonna be for me too, so we're each gonna take a bite. We'll do it in for us. Yeah. here you go. All right, there you go. Yeah. All right. Cheers. Gazarass debut. Shout out to Josiah. Strawberry cheesecake Pop Tar. Strawberry cheesecake. Does it taste much different than a regular strawberry part? Just what it looks like. Looks very inviting, I'd say. Okay, so analysis. Where are we at? Gas or ass? let's say it's nothing special. You gotta say the word. You gotta say the word. Alright, I'm gonna say ass. Whoa, alright. Watch your language. Whoa. Watch your language. my god, it's telling me. What's your take? At first? I was like, yes. But then as you start to like Chew on it. Yeah. It just got sweeter and sweeter. And so I'm calling ass here. Alright. Calling ass. Call an ass. I think I think you said it already. It's too too similar to strawberry. Yeah. So lack of creativity, ass. Yeah. we'll make it four for four. I say it's ass. I I still am I am a Pop-Tart lover, but I will say that you're right. I thought it was okay at first because it kind of gives like Cheesecake, the this border of it feels a little different than a strawberry, but it's not enough to make up for it. I will say, I've already tried these, so I didn't want to lead the witness, and I know she would hate it, but there are Girl Scout ver Girl Scout cookie versions of Pop Tarts, and there's one that's like a Samoa and it's like Top five all time for me. So I will say not to lead the witness, but I I feel like you like it. At least you're coconut are you coconut? Yeah. Yeah. So she would hate coconut. Household. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I got another item that neither one of us have had, and then the last one's just gonna be for you guys. Okay. So this next item for Gaserass is a limited edition of Oreos. it is cinnamon bun Oreos. Okay. and those that don't know, this one right here. Steph is a big cinnamon roll connoisseur, so like but like cinnamon flavored things, so better come correct. Also, big s'mores person and the s'morio is one of her favorites of all time. So very good. Like a We have those in but I figure most people have tried them by now. So these yeah, Girl Scouts, that was really sad when they got rid of their s'mores. Yeah, reverse shout out to them for that. Yeah. That Rocky Road cookie that they came out is nowhere near. Super mid. All right, oats. All right. I feel like the connoisseur of cinnamon rows should go last. All right. All right. I'll go last. But I'll pass you the cookie first. Nice. Yeah. Very good manners. Am I allowed to twist it I would eat a true Oreo? You eat it how you usually do. I'm probably like a serial killer. This is gonna bot bother people, but I eat Oreos straight down. Sorry guys. gosh, you guys. you lick the icing then you eat the cookie. However you want to. Okay. Big pause alert. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Yes, rasp. Just so you see, for those it says cinnamon cookie with cinnamon bun flavor cream. that's what the analysis is. So you can see it kind of looks like a golden Oreo outside, but just slightly different. Look it looks like golden Oreo for me. This is gas for me. This is good. This is gas. Yeah, definitely gas. This is gas. Absolute gas. These are nice. This a nice. This is gas. Yeah. Absolute gas. Icing's really. If I'm being real, I'd I'd probably still rank smoreio above this, but this is like really close, I will say. Yeah. Because even the cookie tastes different than in Poland Oreo. Yeah. This is more like it does, yeah. Cinnamony, grand country. It is a cinnamon cookie, it says, so yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Or these. I eat all of these. Just realized there might be some ASMR on this one. This episode's got fucking everything. For everything. For everyone. It's got everything. All you ASMR freaks out there. Enjoy chewing, package opening. I'm gonna whisper the next one. For you for you real freaky people out there. Okay. This next item comes highly anticipated. no. I have had these full disclosure, so I won't be trying I mean I'll be eating a pack later, but that kind of leads your answer. Yeah, I mean no no spo spoiler the gas for me. So yeah. Okay, this next item and final item for Gas Rass is sour wildberry Skittles. sour. I mean, this feels like something they should have done a long time ago. I don't know what this people at Skittles were doing, not doing this sooner. I got a hot take that wildberry Skittles are better than regular Skittles, but that's for another time. Yeah. okay, so we have just for folks at home, and you can see this, they have your usual suspects from the Wildberry Pack, if you don't know. those are berry punch, that's the purple one. Melonberry is green, raspberries blue, strawberries pink, and wild cherries red. So they have the sour versions of all those. So all right, folks. Let's get to it. Alright, I'll crack this open for you guys and feel free to try to find all of them or just a handful of them. I won't be a I'll be shocked if it's not a if this is not a guess. Yeah, I mean I I'm more I'm more intrigued at watching her eat a sour candy. So I'm excited for this. How many do I have to eat? I'm also not a candy person. Yeah, you're a chocolate gal, so have to make cookies, chocolate. Yeah. Alright, there we go. All right. There we go. Can you see this nice. That was that one was for you guys. So all bloopers included for free. What were those the sour heads when we were kids? What are they called? Warheads. Warheads. I used to run them underwater and then sour things. Sorry. These are all gas. Like what's the joy in being sounded I feel like I've waiting for these my whole life. Skittles in terms of Skittles on everything. This is like the candy portion of Rachel for you. Nice. Good save. Nice dog. Good save. yeah. Okay. Use a gas. Yeah. What do got? It's ass for me. Yeah. She's not a sour person. I'm not a sour person. Well, and it's just like that little zing and then you're just your regular Skittle. Mm-hmm. So I'm like That's what I love about it. That's exactly why it's so good. You it's not where you at officially. Ass. I don't get sour candy, I'm sorry. Just like not for me. Like you said. I don't like that. That's why it's your own skill, gas or ass, you know? I will say like probably me and you and Josiah are probably aligned, it seems like, with taste so yeah. Okay, if you're not a sour fan, probably ask for you, but I I guess you wouldn't buy this. But if you can find this, I highly suggest it. You weren't able to find it in Texas, so I like got this and saved it just for Yeah, I got like we're we're locked and loaded. Okay. TSA, I didn't mean it like that. Yeah. Please don't do yeah. Okay. Number one, but I was keeping track actually, Steph has cussed twice in that segment. So it's got it all. This episode has it all. So you two went ass gas ass. Yeah. And you went ass gas gas. Ask gas gas. Ask gas gas. So yeah. Yeah. Was it right? I think we said it wrong. We did the first one was Ass. Ass you didn't say it. Pop turt. Yeah. Ask, gas, ass, yeah. Okay, number one podcast listeners. Start a group chat. Send it to me. If you have a new item that you wanna do an ass or gas on, we'll feature you. So hit us with the description. If you have a video capabilities, we'll feature you on number the number one podcast on your headphones and for your eyeballs. So hope you enjoyed that. Hey, all these brands, hit us up. Nabisco make Skittles. Skittles. And Pop Tarts. Mars. Mars makes Skittles. And I think Kellogg's is is Pop Tarts, right? We're tagging you hoes. Yeah, yeah, like hit us up. Actually we won't tag Kellogg's. I got I got plenty of of flavor ideas for you guys. Like just hit hit us up, we got you covered. Okay. Alright. Yeah. For number one podcast listeners and watchers that are new to this, the next thing we do is what you feelin'. It's something that you've been feeling lately, like something that makes you happy. Anything it can be anything from like an album Charlie X had her mind right her act right, it would have been that. But what you feeling lately? I'll we'll start with you, Rachel. What are you feeling lately? I am feeling the love of the family. I love that being here. Traveling up to Ohio to see you guys. Yes. going to New York after this for a little bit of fun. Yeah. So just enjoy my time. Yeah. Okay. Our guests first. Short of a retweet. I'll go with a different answer. We're we're moving soon, so I'm like a it's equal parts like anxiety of moving and excitement about like new things, blah blah blah. so I'm definitely feeling that right now. There's a lot of change in The world. Yeah. And change in our world. So trying to make you know make shit happen. So I'm feeling Like I've got a group of girlfriends and we're all doing a like workout program together. Like just the companionship and the accountability and sending funny messages to each other and pumping each other up. So yeah, that's what I'm feeling. Yeah. I'm feeling we recently took like an overnight trip as a family to Mentioned earlier. I didn't mention where, but we went to Cincinnati and did the Newport Aquarium, the Cincinnati Zoo, and the Children's Museum, all planned by Steph, thankfully didn't contribute a lick of the planning with this teacher type A person being on summer. But it was a lot of fun to take our boys and go do something like that that wasn't like a huge investment. It was just overnight, two day, one night thing. and then I do wanna say like I know we both feel this way, but having you guys here Also peek behind the curtain, we we had such a good time last year and I mentioned earlier how we feel so sentimental over your guys' wedding. Like everything the love was so there and we got such quality time with you guys. So this felt like no time's passed and like getting to like really connect with you, Rachel over the last two years because obviously Ohio to Texas there isn't an opportunity, like yeah. Things are friendly and stuff, but you really get to like know someone, like deep conversations and staying up. four AM. Yeah. Like and I get my cup fills up like getting to do that. Like connect with someone, have heart to hearts. That's something that's like means a lot to me and the relationships that I maintain mean a lot to me. So anytime we could do that, I think is it brings me joy. So that's what I'm feeling. Yeah, I know you try not to say the same thing, so I didn't wanna make it seem that way, but Yeah, we got to take you guys too strong. Yeah, we got to take you guys to like I feel like see a bunch of different things and try things that are some of our favorites here. So it's fun to get to show people you love like yeah things you do, like your life, peek into it. And seeing you guys interact with our boys is like so cool to me 'cause it's like it's what you dream of. Like when we have these relationships growing up, it's like that's what we had. Yes, that's what we had. So that means a lot to me 'cause you know, we're big softies. Part of it all. So so okay. If you tell anyone else, we'll deny it. Yeah, we'll deny it. there's no proof. Okay. Number one podcast listeners. You know I like to finish up each episode with our too much sense, the advice that you didn't ask for, but I'm gonna give you anyway. this is my opportunity to do it because I don't offer really unsolicited advice in person like that, but I do on here, so it's kind of my way to do it. Okay, so Number one podcast listeners, my too much sense for this edition, this very special couples edition, is don't wait to make the effort. Be the one to do it. it doesn't, there doesn't need to be a sense of pride with your loved ones. If you feel the need to keep score with someone that you care about, they're probably not worth your time. They're probably not someone you really care about. but you will never regret putting in effort for someone you care about, but you sure as hell might regret not putting in effort. if I'm thinking about you, I'm gonna reach out. that's how I operate. I I could have sent the last 20 text messages. It could look like a crazy ex or something, but it doesn't matter if you're one of my people. I don't mean I'm gonna blow up your phone, but over time, like I'm not gonna text you all the time. as long as I as long as you never have to question how I feel about you, that's kind of where I where I things so I'm not afraid to tell people I feel about them and that's kinda how I operate. Not saying you have to do that method, but if you are questioning whether you need to make the effort because they haven't, don't wait for that. This is your sign to make the effort anyway. Don't don't wait for the other person to take the initiative, be the one to do it. So that's my experience. Thanks for this very special edition. you guys agree, disagree? it's amazing. Hopefully I don't seem like a crazy ax out there. didn't mean to make it sound that way. I just mean if you're not one to answer, you just thumbs up things. I'm still gonna send you that I'm care I'm thinking about you. So number one podcast listeners. Yes, I hope not. I would hope not. number one podcast listeners, that does it for a very special edition of the number one podcast on your headphones and the number one podcast for your eyeballs in Maybe you're watching through some glasses or on your screen or phone. But number one podcast listeners, this has been our hundred and fiftieth episode of From Relay, actually. I'm very proud of this episode. I'm so honored you guys agreed to do this. Rachel, I know it's like first time you you might have first time a long time. First time long time. Steph, you joined me after a while. and People always ask for you when you're when you're gonna rotate into the co-hosting. I can tell you when I record she's long asleep. So maybe that helps. But I wanna thank you guys. I wanna thank you guys for agreeing to do this. This was so much fun to do. I hope you enjoy this number one podcast listeners. I hope we I get to do this. We have these fancy new mics and equipment and stuff, so I think I'm gonna have more ability to do this sort of thing. But I didn't Roche and I talked about this when he he was getting closer to visiting that we didn't wanna let this opportunity go without recording a a podcast and Steph and Rachel were in to do it and we're so glad they were. We're lucky to have you both. I think I've speak you for some. I'm glad we could celebrate. Well Yeah. we're really grateful for you. I speak to you and I know you could speak to her about it. but they they make us who we are and they've made us like better people. So what you see is our version and like the times we get heart to heart and like deeper conversations, it's hard not it's hard not to overstate the impact the positive impact they've had on us. We've both done work on ourselves, each of us has done, but you have a good person on your team that makes a huge difference. So number one podcast listeners, number one podcast watchers, if you don't have that yet, I'm manifesting it for you. If you do have it, make sure you tell them how you feel because that connects to too much sense all cyclical here. But thank you for joining us in the special edition. Hopefully those of you who watched enjoyed it. those of you are listening, find some time to watch it and enjoy our faces on here interacting. it was a peek behind some of our heart tarts we've had here. So hopefully you enjoyed it. Yeah. So we'll talk to you next time and we'll see you for the next edition too, because I guess this year to stay, people liked it, so hopefully you dig it. Peace. All right. Peace.
