Curated Conversations: Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Curated Confessions where we drink wine and talk design. Cheers. Our margaritas. Yes, margaritas. I think it's been a minute since we've had wine, honestly. My headache is headache in headache headache headache headache in We just ate lunch at like five o'clock, so might contribute to it. that's when I always eat lunchtime. I'm Hilary Smith. And I'm Brittany Pelche. And we are the lead designers and owners of Brit Hill Interiors here in Prairieville, Louisiana. Welcome. Thanks for joining us today. Yes. I feel a little out of it, not gonna lie. Me too. I also sound a little nasally. Nasally? I was gonna say, like I smoke a lot. Raspy? Raspy. I don't feel like it's coming from my nasal. I feel like it's coming from my lungs. Yeah. I always wanted a raspy voice. Just to sing, not for any other reason, right? No, just to not sound like a child. Start smoking, I guess. I don't know. It's telling me. I don't like smoke. no. Does faithing does it do it? No, can't start that. Mm-mm. I'd like to pick up good habits, not bad ones. I'm sure you could just talk to a a vocal coach. Maybe. You could probably just have your your vocal cords stretched or something. Not stretched, I feel like that would sound more like a chigmunk. I am not gonna talk about things that I do not know anything about. I mean, that's be Yes we are. We definitely are. But go back to the bear spray. Yeah, I'm like, I guess we can't. so I'm here. Yeah. I did not get attacked by a bear that we spoke about on the previous episode. I did see a bear. And it really is mace, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Yeah. I can't imagine a bear coming at you and you'd be like, Hold on, let me get in my clutch. I Did not buy bear spray nor did I need it. You you have to what, be within like twenty feet of the bear? I'm like that is ridiculous. I think I'm but you also know we did like The way you're supposed to like fend off a bear is to be taller than them. You're supposed to get on your tippy toes, which I find hilarious. Screwed. Yes. You would have to like climb up lane like a little tree and like stand on him. That would be y'all's only way of surviving that. Thank goodness the bear that I did see was a little baby bear that was playing in the ditch in the water. There's usually a mama. That's what I said. I was like, Where's Mama and Papa? 'Cause they come in. Let's get out of here. Now we know Papa ain't coming. He is at the cave playing video games or reading the newspaper. We did see these like pretty cool I don't know what they were. Goats, sheep with horns. A regular mountain hor mountain goats maybe? Those are things too. They had these cute Were they on the side of the mountain? Yeah, they had these cute little white butts. Here I go again. I'm not gonna talk about things I do not know about, but I'm gonna say it's probably a mountain goat. I mean they were on the road. They were like we had to wait for him to cross the road, but it was on a mountain. I've watched they were some sort of here I go again with some documentary. Which I mean, how else do you know about these things unless it's a documentary because we don't live there. What are they like the Tibetan ones or something? They like jump. Yeah. Like on the side of the mountain, like far. And like with all four feet like together, like being like springboard. And it's a little bitty. Ledge. Yeah. It's pretty cool. Yeah. I didn't Did you know that Ug Boots is the name of a type of shoe, not a brand? Ug just stole the name. that's rude. I mean I guess not, but 'Cause I was watching a TikTok of a company and they kept saying we're making Ug boots and I like, How are they not getting like trademark infringement lawsuit something? And then I who knew found out that basically a boot made of sheep is a ug is an ug boot. Hm. It's a weird name. I knew. I wish I would have had my Ug boots in the mountains though. I was Wishing for more suitcase room. So you So you wanted to you wish you had them but you didn't pack them? Correct. I feel like bugs take up minimal space. Because you could just like fold the the the top over. No, they no. They take up room. I mean I didn't have room for like a couple pair of socks more in my suitcase. Hmm. You know, traveling hack though when I traveled with Estelle I didn't even pack anything because at that point, who cares? I was exhausted. But you can get away with taking so much stuff if you have a baby. Really? yeah. You can hide stuff in their car seat bag. You can hide stuff in the stroller. You can hide stuff you I was bringing bottles of water on just because I was being lazy and I'm like, it's for a formula. Dave's like talking and walking. They wouldn't even let me bring my carry on bag. Like I had to check my carry on bag. So 'cause you're in one of those little puddle jumper situations. No, it was a normal plane. 'cause you didn't buy a good enough ticket. Exactly. I have found that if you just buy a first class, it covers the cost of this this luggage. Yeah. I get like eight suitcases on this plate. That's probably what I'm gonna start doing 'cause I just gotta get over the initial see and it's all like just games because you have to buy if you go economy, then you're buying them in different stages. So you don't know how much you're spending. But it adds up to the And then at the end you're like, wait, I could have spent another four hundred dollars and I could have got first class with champagne. Yeah. I'm doing that. As a matter of fact, I might upgrade my next trip. Do you? Anyways this weekend design. Hmm. This was a short week 'cause of Labor Day. But so we just got back to work. And boy did we get back to work. I'm on the fence about that. Boy did I get back to work. It's crunch time. I have still pivoting. Rescheduling things I haven't even told you. But Well that's why I just am not working. She won't keep me in the loop, so I can't help you. So I just am out. Some lady called today and was like, you're Hillary and started like, How's your daughter? And I'm like, Who are you? And had a whole sheep knew my whole life story. I was like, All right, cool. She was like, so did you and Brittany? So I was like, I don't see her. Do I need to call her back? Maybe. Sure. Okay. I didn't take any notes. I didn't take her name. Great. no, I had my pen ready. She said that she would give you a few days and would call back. And when she said that, I was like, I ain't taking down no notes. Huh. It's from the thing you did last week. Hmm. I did a lot last week. Partnership. She's trying to sell us on something. that Yeah. So I was like, I'm pretty sure she's gonna call back if I don't take her phone number. Yes. So yes. That's how I approach that. Mm-hmm. I had a fun consult today. Mm-hmm. It's It's a lot of it's a little remodel and a little furniture and a little window treatment, so it's a little bit of everything. So that's gonna be fine. No no plastering. No plastering, Hillary. You're welcome. That's just like not a service we do. I'm just letting you know. So tired. How's that coming, by the way? You know, I think I knew before my daughter went to school that school is a trap. Mm. They don't learn anything, they just get drunk divitus or whatever they get. It's a lot. it's coming. There's been some delays. Delays. Plaster was shipped incorrectly. Yeah, that wasn't your fault. and I mean it's not things happen, so like I'm not upset about any of it. But like then they wanted a picture of the label to see 'cause technically it's set like They were like, Well what do you mean it's the wrong color? And I had a feeling it was gonna be like that 'cause you know, it's like sometimes you go and get paint and then you have to go and get another paint a gallon, which as a painter, they say don't do that. You should marry all the gallons before you start the project. Well sometimes you decided that you wanted to add a wall or something. Yeah. And sometimes it just don't work out like that. But I have gone and gotten a gallon of paint and then gone and bought another one and they don't match. They're close, but they don't match. This one was not close, but I took a picture of the label. They wanted a picture of the label to see what went into the gall the to the bucket. And he was like, That's the code. That's what it was supposed to be. And I'm like, listen, you're not understanding. It is black. plaster. And so he wanted me to go swatch it, which of course I left it at the client's house. So then I had to go back to the client's house and then I had to swatch it. And then I had to sit there and let it dry 'cause I knew that first question was gonna be like, Did you let this so I gave him a picture of it immediately on the board. I gave a picture of thirty minutes during dry time and I gave a picture of two hours post, you know, after dry time and It's like, no, that's just black and I was like, Yes. Send me the And it was like so apparently they tinted it but they put it in probably black plaster instead of white plaster. So 'cause Yeah. So it just came out as black plaster and so nothing you can do besides wait patiently for it to arrive. And Which I talked to the homeowner about it. He chuckled because he was like, apparently it's in every industry, so you feel the pain. also talked to the client, they got a lot of stuff still happening. So I was trying to work the scheduling around where I wasn't the problem. The fireplace stone is finally going in this coming weekend. Yes. But I got a message from the installer today asking about the New firebox that we just had put in that has has all these like lights and hooked up the gas line and whatnot to see if it could be removed. I just thought about this. I'm like apparently the forks for this machine or something that bring that places the stone needs to go in there. So he's gotta go back tomorrow to measure to see if the Box that was just installed needs to be taken out. I'm like I have felt like I mean they can raise the forks. They're gonna bring a forklift in the house? No, not like a forklift. It's like a I don't know what it is, honestly. It's like I don't know. He said We shouldn't do Monday meetings on a podcast. I think my face explains a lot. That's crazy. Yeah. Maybe it's like some type of like dolly situation, you know, that has I don't know. I'll ask more questions. I mean, I feel like somebody else should have asked more questions like three months ago. Mm-hmm. Cool. Just checking. But no, we'll know for sure tomorrow and then I'm gonna ask more questions because he's gonna call me when he's here. I mean, tomorrow is like the beginning of the install. I think it's fine time to start asking questions. Yeah. Not tomorrow. My week. And it's all Friday. I knew, but like People keep saying something about like Wednesday and I'm like, wait, that's like tomorrow. I I know. When you don't have your fifth day, it really It messes with you. And so the same same ha client house, we finally, if you saw our video, finally got the dining wallpaper installed and we started hanging the Dining chandeliers and they are just like as dreamy as we imagined them to be. Mm-hmm. It took all day and a whole team of people to t take and box. Really, yeah, like and lay out and separate and adjust cables and hang and adjust hanging heights. I didn't I still didn't get to see the final 'cause I had to leave a A little early that day, but it was beautiful. Yes. Also Interesting to see like the homeowners because that was probably one of the first things we presented and I think that's when they decided we had lost our mind. Yeah. Definitely. So I always think that's funny. Mm-hmm. Whenever and then they're like, yeah. I mean, we knew it was gonna be fantastic. We also forgot what it looked like. I'm like, yeah. But We installed quite a few lights, which we didn't get to install as many as I wanted to see. But I think they were going back today to do. Yeah. Hopefully it'll be like Christmas when we go back again. Yes. But it's also funny whenever they clients start seeing some of the things start coming in the house, then they start wanting to add all the other things that they had originally said no to 'cause now they're starting to see it. Yes. That makes me chuckle. I really didn't think they were gonna come back around to the living room lights, but they are. Ish. Yes. It might happen. Make it happen. I'm like, now we gotta go lay out pull some string or something that it always involves some craziness on our part, but mm-hmm. talk to the stair guy. He's gonna take down some stairs. good this week. good. You were there. I didn't know if he was gone this week or next week. I thought that was the final answer. It was that he would but the end of the week. okay. That's good. Are we in the same meeting? I'm so confused. I want to help. All right. I had lights to din too. okay. yeah. follow and like if you can follow us on Apple, I mean YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Not in that order, but you'll get the gist of it. What episode is this? Like forty-seventh? We're still fake trying to figure out. Out of twenty-four. Yeah. We'll get it on forty seven. That okay. That's a good goal. Yep. but until then, let us know if you would like to hear about anything else from us design-wise, personal or vacation. Vacation. We love to talk about vacations, as you can tell. And yeah, anything at all. And we'll see you next time. Cheers. Cheers.
