vol32: Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Curated Confessions where we drink wine and talk design. I'm your host, Hilary Smith. And I'm Brittany Palshecomo. And we are the nope, we did it too early. See, we really still can't get this. We can do another two years. Haha Yay. Okay. we are the lead designers and owners of Brit Hill Interior Interiors in Prairieville, Louisiana. Cheers. Bruh. It's getting worse, I think. It really is. It it shocks me every time. Yeah. But we're here. And then I was gonna say, well, I did drink a glass before we sat down, but then I'm like, usually that makes it better. Not today. So I've been able to recite Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Like I don't because she won't let me hold the book. Like like the Book. Boom chicka Hugo Chicka chicka boom boom. It's literally chicka chicka boom boom, just like I said. It's the greatest children's book ever. Chicken of a rat boom boom. Will there be enough room? Skit scat scootle doot flip flop flea. Everybody run into the coconut tree. Mamas and papas and uncles and aunts hug their little deers and dust their pants. Help us out. Cried A, B, C. Next from the pile up skinny D and loose tooth E and patched up F, then comes G, all out of breath. H is tangled up with I J and K are about to cry. I could keep going. I love it. I need to learn. I couldn't remember. But I tried, I tried last night and I was like I could not get the words and I was like, my brain is broken. Isn't there like a cheer or like something on a movie? It's like boom. It's like a slower boom. Yeah. What's that? Bring it on. Yeah. That's what I thought you were talking about. No, we're not at that stage in our life. Not at all. But bring her ass when she's twelve or thirteen and then should we wait till she's like sixteen? There's a lot of inappropriate. I feel like that was like some mean girl stuff going on in that Absolutely. That's the whole premise of the movie. That's what I was like, why are you doing? But yeah, that makes more sense. I like that little jingle. Except Is there like a dance that goes with it? you can do one. I feel like there needs to be a day. did you not just hear all of the different pitches and tones? Like it's a whole thing and Estelle waits for and if I don't help us upgrade She gets really like her pitch changes. I'm like, How many times has one read this book? Actually we had a client that made a post the other day that like, What is everybody reading? It took everything I have to not be like chicka chicka poom boom. Like one hundred percent should have Sh I have such great jokes, I just don't I can't type on social media. You gotta act on But I was like and she was like, What is everyone reading? And I'm like, What do you mean? if somebody was like, I read this book three times. I was like, Well, I've read Chicken Chicken Bumper nine hundred and eighty seven times. So But she'll literally you could say, Go get boom boom and she'll come running out of her room with her book. Like That's awesome. Yeah. But then she won't. man. I mean, it is entertaining. Yeah. But and I don't know. It's just also now it's the my go to book because she steals the book from me. So and you know my brain, like it can't I know moms just like skip pages and just like make stuff. My brain will short circuit. And I'm like I'm pretty sure it's all of the D's. Yeah, but I think I'm the same. You missed a page. you should see me trying to color with her. yeah, I might have a panic attack. Plato, we mix all the colors. So I almost ordered something the other day, but I wanted to see if she already had it because I know But it was like a colouring book, but it comes with this brush that you like wet and it doesn't get on anything else and they like brush it on and makes all the colors come to life. It looks so fun. That's awesome. Do you know what I'm talking about? I mean Not in particular, no. Okay. We just we 'cause I kinda wanted to use real Unfortunately, we did not child proof. So you can only imagine the things she has access to in my house. I have a thing of nine hundred markers for doing perspectives and which I don't do perspectives, I just color with them. I'll dry it up. All those ones. I bought them last year, bro. Leave me alone. I'm like, no, I rebought them. 'Cause I do a lot of shading with my coloring books. It gets very serious with my coloring books. So we have to have separate coloring books. I see. Yeah. And then she'll and then I have to have the separate, separate one that I keep in my bedroom that she's not allowed to have. So we'll color and then my anxiety will rise and then she goes to bed and then I have to go recolor after she goes to bed so I can put it to rest. Uh-huh. Mm-hmm. Well we'll have a s another separate coloring book. Also she knows that like I have officially made the guest bedroom is just in a stealth re zone. She got upset for a little but all my Legos are in there and I'm like, it's like a problem. I need you to not touch things. Yeah. But she can destroy my furniture and everything else in the house. Just let me have that one room, please. So we have to talk about your fabulous Halloween costumes. She destroyed her carriage, which really grinded my gears, but that's okay. They were so cute. I saw all these family Halloween costumes, people post and I don't know. So it was like every mom out here, which every mom says yes, but it really pisses me off, I'll just be honest. They're just all smiling in these Halloween posts. Like and just life in general and social media in general is like really pissing me off. And they'll have three kids and I'm like, how how how? Yeah. It took a standing ovation from thirty people to get her to put on her dress. She said absolutely not to the gloves and the headpiece and the bedazzled shoes that she loved the week prior that she wore almost wore to bed. we had to, I think, grab her to get them off. But now it's Halloween. Absolutely not. Nope. I took her wagon and I had streamers and roses. We had an enchanted rose that glowed and had lights on it that was glued to the top of it. And it was Beauty and the Beast theme, by the way. Yeah, she was Belle. Which everyone keeps asking me why my husband wasn't the beast. And I don't know if I'm so literal, but like it makes me want to vomit in my mouth every time someone asks that. And I'm like, why would I make her dad Yeah? The person that locked her up and then gave her Stockholm syndrome. Yeah, they just don't seem right. Just that's a hard no for me. So, I wanted to be the candlebra. Which well we talked about this already. I guess that's why I just jumped into it. I just assume y'all all listen. I know everyone. We have to post the picture, I'm sorry. yeah. Honestly. Kudos to our friend Kelly because somehow she managed to get three or four pictures where I'm smiling and it looks like I wasn't having a mel. I love that for her. Yeah. She needed no cue. She just knew to do it. And one of I actually looked like I was enjoying myself. So And you were so I wasn't asleep. that like Yeah. It was it was a rough week the week before, but It still came off of hand, foot, and mouth. I got virus something. I think it was the novovirus or something. I just make stuff up. It was definitely the worst. I won't go into it. I was gonna d too much. It's just graphic, too much, too much. she worked through it somehow. honestly, because Brittany just kept saying that. That was the timeline and she didn't really care that I was dead. Then she'd be like, You should take the day off and then the next day she'd be Well, did you get this, this, this and this done? I'm like, How in the would I've been able to do that if I took the day off? I took your advice and went and got an IV and she still was like, The next day, so did you finish? Thought that IV gave you some superpower. It also cut into the day. you also have to go sit there. Though it took 20 minutes for me to get two bags on my arm, that's about how dehydrated I was. Also left there after two bags. And also they gave me a B12 shot in the hip, which I highly suggest all of that. though it is bruised, that is a serious shot. Really? Yeah, it's like worse than steroid shots. I have a Big obr or she hit something that she wasn't supposed to hit. Maybe so, yeah. Mine didn't But I also chugged two bottles of water on my way home, got two bottle or I got the whole cocktail mix and a saline bag. And I think it took till the next day for me to go to the bathroom. That's something's s got something going on. Yeah. that was called de h dehydration. Yeah. Do you hear some like crazy stories about people that are hi dehydrated like It it's serious. Nothing to play with. Mm and no, you die. Yeah. You can die. but I didn't, so we're still going on. So we planned on going trigger treating. I somehow managed to load up a wagon that was did not fit my car that I had already That thing was intense. Like it was beautified. It's a good size wagon. it was like a carriage. a carriage, huh? well, I don't think you call it that whenever it's just you're just pushing your kid in it. But it had a whole top and yeah, it has a canopy. Yeah. It's called a wonderful. wagon like a a red wagon with wheels like a red flyer. Mm-hmm. I guess. A little red no. I don't know. There's something about it. But you that's like when I say when I picture wagon, that's what I think. This was like a luxury carriage with pedal. They technically call it a stroller and I'm like That's not what I think. But it is a stroller. But you can fit four children in it, so whatever that tells you. Yeah, I almost got in it. But so I it's at one point and then like I hadn't ordered enough gold streamers to go around, so but they were too long, so I cut them and then I had double sided tape and I was individually placing little streamers and I was doing this somehow at like midnight while Estelle was sleeping. And then the next morning I'm like, Yay, it's finished. And she goes out there and just starts ripping all the streamers off. And it took everything I had not to just also toss her outside too. and and then I looked at my husband and I was like, Did you go get your black shirt like you were supposed to go get three weeks ago? And he was like, No, I'm going now. And I was like, Of course you are while I have the baby. He is notorious of always having an airing. Soon as he wakes up on Saturday, he's gotta go get breakfast. he's gotta go wash his truck. he's gotta go get gas. I'm like Gl I love Saturday mornings with Estelle. and then so I packed up all of her outfit. I I wore a shirt like a normal person because I knew it was gonna be a lot, though I did have a top hat on. Yeah. Which was a real bummer because I did have my cocktail. But I couldn't drink it because I couldn't lean back. with hat. Yeah, you shouldn't have got straw. One would have thought. Why didn't I think of that, Brittany? You always think of straws. Like you all. So let me just continue this story. I'm sorry, the story has got you know, my stories, they can they can take a minute. I'm sorry. we do love Halloween. Yes. Although It was a lot easier Whenever I was just intoxicated and wearing a get up and it was just me. And we just didn't care. Yeah. We used to full blown. We Halloween was living in Vegas. We had a week of Halloween festivities and different outfits for every day. And no one got murdered, which no one got murdered here either. Close, maybe. So anyway. So he leaves, he goes and gets his shirt. And then he puts it on. He's like, it's really hot. So then he changes back into his disgusting no offense, Delta T who does our air conditioning, but that's the shirt he was wearing. And and I was like, Yeah, and he was like, He I saw him fold the shirt up and put it on the island right next to the bag that had all of the stuff in it one would like that he needed to wear. No, it like Estel's costume and all of the other things. And then I was like, Okay, well now I gotta go try to figure out I told him we're leaving at four thirty and I'm over here trying to figure out how to get a wagon that's bedazzled and in the car, does not fit. So I am taking wheels off because I can't take all the other stuff off. So I disassemble it, get it in the car, and then I'm like, I'm gonna finish it at a friend's house and and then I have all of her costume, also pajamas and also candy and food and everything else. And I even took all of Kyle's costume and had it in the bag and organized and we get to the house and he was like, Hey, where's my black shirt? And I said, What? I don't know what you're talking about. Why why would you think I brought your black shirt? And he was like, Because you brought everything else. How do you say that with a straight face? Someone please tell My eyes got huge. Every wife in the room looked at me and goes, it never changes. Just calm down. And I was like, just pour yourself a drink. So our pictures, we need to Photoshop him in a black shirt because he is a walking air conditioning with a clock. Yes. So what you call the clock? His name is Cogsworth. Cogsworth. So I asked Kyle, I was like, I'm gonna be the candlestick. Lumier, which y'all made fun of how I said it last time, so whatever. Called it Lumineer. it's so close to I thought it was Lumiere. It is. I'm not French! Got a little comma to the top. Exactly. Yeah. Literally he says his name is Lumier on the movie. Have you watched the live version? No. Then you can't say nothing to me. I watch it every Saturday. Come at me. And I was like I'm gonna be the candlestick. And Kyle was like, so you can sing. And I was like, Absolutely. Which I had her speakers, speaker charging. Did I forget that? Absolutely. There was no music to be had in this carriage. And I said, Do you wanna be the clock? I showed him a t-shirt with a clock on it. And I was like, Do you wanna wear the t shirt? Or and then I sent him this ridiculous headpiece with shoulder pads and a whole thing on his face. And he was like, I want that. And I was like, it's 70 bucks. I do not want that. And I was like, all right. So I bought that. And then I like, but wait, you could be the if you want to get in a whole costume, then I found one of the mirror in a whole costume. And then I was like, I could be the feather duster. Cause there are a couple. and I was like, yes. And I started practicing my French. He was like, no, I want to be the clock. And I was like, he ruins everything. Fine. But you were a cute candlestick, Lumiere. I mean, you can't even say his name. So and then my sweet, adorable little doodle what Sweeney was supposed to be the beast. And he had a whole costume. Technically he had two because I got him a large. And he's grown. And so then I got him an extra large. And my life is chaotic. So the large never went back. So now I have a large and an extra large. And I was a little overstimulated by the time. Kyle decides to go take a shower at 4 30. When you were supposed to leave. Yes. Because he's had to sweat putting the carriage in the car. And I was like, so am I disassembled? I am. Leather gold pants. I am also sweating profusely. my God. Happy Halloween. And so then I get the baby in the car. I get myself in the car. I get the food in the car. Kyle comes out freshly washed with no shirt in the car. We get to the we get to my friend's house at five. And I'm like, we're going trigger treating at six. And he was like, I bet we're not. And so then I beautify her carriage some more because obviously it needs more roses. It only had 17 garland on there. And candelabras. And candelabras zip tied, which I had candlesticks that were supposed to f go in there. They didn't work. I had to pivot. It just kept pivoting and I was like, I'm loving this day. I also was like, we're breaking into the drinks immediately. So do all that. Then I'm struggling to get her dressed. Everyone starts clapping. She puts on the dress for the standing ovation, but says no to getting her hair brushed. So she just looks a little she is disheveled. She had been through some things that evening. She still looked adorable. Yes. But so she is having a fit. I'm getting her out there. She won't get in the carriage. She won't do any of the things. He now starts trying to put his costume on. That's when he started asking me where his shirt is. I'm I think I'm having malfunctioned at this point. I thought you meant he put on the gear before you left the house. No. No, he put on the gear at about six thirty when I said we were leaving at six. 'Cause time management is I am married and I do business with the same exact person. Hi. We're Virgo's. Or he's a Leo. He's a Leo, but it's one and the same. Yeah. One and the same. And so he's she's having a meltdown. I'm carrying her. She's barefoot. It's like it is what it is. I'm holding her pale. And somehow my drink that I cannot drink. So but I won't put it down because I'm terrified that I might just need it at some point. And I'm holding her and we're walking. And then I'm like, wait, we have to take a picture before I forget. And there is no memory of any of it. Somehow Kelly takes a couple of pictures. We're good to go. Kyle's standing there and he's like, We're gonna take this wagon, she won't even get in. And I was push the wagon. Of course we have to push the wagon. So we get to the first house. Look at the clo my gosh, the c he turns it on because I mean mm hmm he is a Leo. I took one compliment. I see why you went and did all this work for this carriage. I was like as he strutted around pushing the carriage, as I'm carrying around this sack of potatoes. In an evening gown that yes. He was like, I see why you do all this, all these kudos. And I was like, mm-hmm. That's definitely as once again, leather pants. I thought October was going to work. And normally it does get cold right around Halloween. It's either freezing or it's miserable. It's just there's just no winning. And then somehow I looked at the pictures and Kelly has us laughing while we're getting candy. Apparently, at some point. Except for people, I mean, after the first house, I was like. You can't be mad. we don't have time to be mad, honestly. So I had to slap on a smile and just keep on going. But yeah. And then it worked out. It became a great evening. And then we get back to the house and everyone's walking by the sidewalk telling Estelle how beautiful she is and all of this sudden her she's not a Leo, but it definitely came out. she just stood there and pageant waved as everyone told her how adorable she was. For 30 minutes. She loved Halloween after that point. When I drove up, she was like picking up her little ball gown to walk and her little bare feet. I was like, my gosh. Everyone kept saying how adorable it was that she was doing that. And I was like, the part is that y'all miss is she faceplanted three times before that. And so she learned to pick it up. She learns quickly. Yep. Well the second or third time I was like, you're gonna figure out you need to probably pick that up. Also, it was a two T. They don't have I think they fit her pretty good. Yeah. Maybe if she would have w wore her her shoes with it. she didn't have high heels, but I also wear flag had I meant to grab I was going to tuck like the back pen up, like where all the little pleats were. I was going to make it have like a scalloped edge. I couldn't find the safety pens. Things were happening. At that point I was like, She's not even walking, I don't even care. I'll just carry her, it'll be fine. She'll be fine. I don't I'm sure everyone who's watching this can relate. I d I don't I don't know Put that on social media because I'm tired of y'all's happy smiling pictures on social media. Hey, you got some too. So I know. I'm just gonna post them in about three weeks when I finally have the mental capacity to do that. And I'll be like, Hi This is how October went. And then when they comment, I'm gonna be like, No, see you missed the 30 minute window whenever I had the mental capacity to deal with that. Yep. Now I do not. Thank y'all for listening and tuning in today. You can catch us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. It's a good one. We'll see y'all next time. Cheers. Cheers.
