Dr. Dean Alley PhD: Chaplain Dean Alley here. I had a moment. Thought I would go into chapter seven while I had time. Enjoying the staycation, as you will, as my wife put it. and enjoying it. Enjoying it. tomorrow, unfortunately, we have the attend a funeral. then we have all the grandkids at night. Looks like it'll be a pool day pool. following day and then Like the vacation will be over, but that's okay. staycation, something I learned, right? So I'm coming to you live and I am Gonna walk through this a little bit with you. I hope you're doing well. Hope you had a chance. If you follow me on Facebook or any other social media, every I try to do every morning just a little small devotional of something that's on my mind or something I want to share. so I shared today something out of Romans from Paul, and it's on my Facebook page and it's on my Dean Alley of the chaplain Dean Alley Ministries Incorporate So let me give you the story why I I I call it Dean Alley. So somebody once accused me of maybe being a narcissist having my name in the titles and everything. Let me let me explain how that happens. So number one, I try to be as humble as I can and certainly wasn't looking for fame and fortune. Trust me, even today I d again I do it for nothing. So and the books that I've written, all that goes towards the nonprofit. if you must know, we helped some folks today in Bangladesh. They were orphans, they have no mom and they have no dad. A small amount of money. We're not a rich or anything, and we're not a funding ministry, but occasionally we try to help where God shows us. So, and you're gonna say, Well, there's people right here in the country, right here. Japan Dean, you're right, and we do that too. So and locally and so forth. And I think that somebody once accused me of kind of being a narcissist by putting my name on Dean Ellie Ministry. Let me let me tell you how that all transpired. I was signing up the nonprofit and I was putting the information in the application in, and I did not have a name for the pot I mean for the ministry and I was you know I was going through the little widgets and I was filling it out and I was in the in the moment and I was like I don't know what to call this or what should I I mean I didn't want to I didn't want it to be some wanky name or something like that and ended up being a wanky name because it's my name. So I just plugged my name and thinking okay well I'll go back and change it. That was my thinking. I just put my name in it right now, you know da da da So fast forward, I didn't realize those acts that when I plugged that in, that actually titled the business. It's a it's a nonprofit business. It titled it in that name through the state documents and federal documents. If you've ever dealt with the IRS or if you've ever dealt with any of this type of program or modality, there is a cost to everything. So I choose not to pay to have it all changed and then at the same time I was okay well I'll stick with it. So to answer the question, some people may be thinking, why do you call it Dean Ellie Ministries Incorporated? Well, because in the moment of filling out the documents for the the ministry, I just threw it in there thinking I could go back and change it. And that wasn't the case. So I try to bring that honesty to you. we are going live here in a couple spots just trying to save a little time. I'm not sure that it's actually saving any time. I'm not seeing any of this on, you know, popping up on my live type stuff. Maybe I'm not looking at the right stuff or missing it. But I only do it because if you know anything as I mentioned yesterday, podcasting on the back end is a lot of work. And it takes me a while to to do all the back end stuff. So today's Thursday. It's right around lunchtime. Maybe you're sitting there having a bite E and you're watching or you're not watching. Doesn't matter. But kind of give you the the history here. So we are walking through the Bible a little bit. And we started out in Genesis. We talked about in the beginning, the heavens and the earth, and then we get to the day of rest and then we get to the animals. first it was the marine life built that was designed and then it was all the mammals and things like that and then man And at the end of chapter two, God said what it was good. So if somebody ever says, Well, this world has never been good, well, just take them back to chapter two when God said it was good. and then we move into chapter three, where that sin nature entered into the world through one man, Adam. And and and that is not the first example of sin, the first example. Is when Satan was cast out of heaven. That was he wanted to be what? He wanted to be bigger than God. And I think that's part of that gap theory where a lot of those were taken care of. However, I'll leave that up to you. But sin wasn't just started with Adam. We know that Satan, the one of the number one things that God does not like is what? And what did Satan want to be? He wanted to be a God, right? He wanted to be above God. And when God threw him out with one third of the angels, because they followed him. And when we talked about the sin in chapter three, the serpent, I want to use the word Satan, but Satan uses different things. So he the serpent deceived and as the Bible beguiled Eve. And then Adam obviously and then so forth. Then we got through four, then five, we were building the ark. people are laughing as they do today. People laugh today. And at people like me, and that's okay too, trust me. And Then we talked about the boat, the building, and all the things that would to go on the boat and two by two and then the sacrificial part because still they had to sacrifice for their sins, and they would do that through a blood offering, which we know in the new covenant, Jesus is our propitiation, he's our blood offering, he is the atonement for us. So we learn that. So now that puts us up to chapter seven. And I'm going to kind of read a little bit here. ch and chapter one, it it it starts out very clear with. And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark. For thee have I seen righteousness before me in this generation. So he's calling out the righteousness which again, this dispensation period, you had the innocence and you know, and the flood, those are these people during that time will be they they're not gonna escape they're not gonna escape judgment. That's when the books are open. It's not one book alive, it's books when the books were open. I would submit to you when the dispensations are open. So you can't hold me accountable to the innocent age in the first dispensation because I wasn't even here. you can hold me to the church age and the age of grace, which we're in right now. All right, so he sees he sees what? He sees Noah as righteous. Of every clean beast, and he he says this when he says clean, he's and we're gonna see where Noah went in, but thou shalt take thee by sevens, the male and female. Notice how that that that is clearly called out male and female. That ends all the gender questions. And of beasts that are clean by two. And male and female. So you had you had when he first he said you'll bring in the clean beast by sevens, the male and female, then the beasts that are not clean, those are the split hoof ones. We'll we'll learn about that. What is what is clean, what is unclean. if you've ever noticed really one example is the Jewish tradition is they don't eat pork. Because of the split hoof of uncleanliness. so they are still abiding by that in many forms today, which Again they don't really see the New Testament or the New Covenant or what happened in Joppa with God coming to Peter in a dream and him going to the centurion and telling Peter now everything is clean. So anyways. So then we go on to three and it says, Of fowls also of the air by seven and male and female, to s to keep the seed alive. upon the face of the earth. So everything's by seven. Seven is a number that is used for completion or perfect. That's a symbol of completion and Perfect. So you'll see that occasionally certain numbers are are used through the Bible and they have they do have meanings behind them. Okay. So for yet seven days and I will cause it to rain. So he's given him in seven days, what is he gonna do? He's gonna cause it to rain. Upon the earth for how many days? So we know seven days from then he's gonna let it rain for forty days. And then he says forty nights, so forty days, forty nights. That's a lot of rain. I don't know about you, but we had some rain come through and if anybody's a pool owner, you've got to flush those systems out. And I wanna say I had to go out twice and flush out at least two inches, maybe more, to get that get get get all that water out of there, 'cause that's that's a lot of lot of weight on that pool. So that's that was in a night, in a day. two to four inches. Well we know it's gonna pour out more than that. But so he's telling him in seven days I'm gonna start the rain. It's gonna be for forty days and forty nights, Noah, and every living substance or thing, right? That I have made will I destroy from the face of the earth. So this is also a prelude to where we know that in Revelation, when that second coming comes in the judgment, he will be destroying the earth, and the new heavens and new earths will come about. So he says, I would destroy from the goes to verse five. He says, And Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded, and Noah was six hundred years of age when the flood waters was upon the earth. So we know that what he's six hundred years of age at the time of the flood when it started raining. You know, again, the Bible's clear about you know their ages, how long they were there, to kind of give you a timeline of what in how God's dealing. And remember what I told you, you can read a verse and then read another verse and it could be a thousand years later. There's not a step-by-step approach to the Bible. Like, okay, Noah did this. I mean in some cases you get that, but not in all. And the reason I say that is it because it's important sometimes to put it in perspective. Context, the historic the the history, the background, the culture, understanding what's going on. And Noah did according unto all the Lord had commanded him. So what's he doing? He's God's telling him to do something, and he's doing it. He's being obedient. He doesn't have disbelief, like the people outside this ark, like the people in this world would disbelieve. The old testament full of disbelief. And and Noah went in and his sons and wives and his sons' wives with him into the ark because the waters of the flood. So they put him in there or started to go in there. There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, male and female, and God had commanded Noah. And it came to pass after several days, the waters of the flood were upon the earth. So it didn't take long. this flood water to get there in the 600th year of noah's life in the second month and the 17th day of that month so there's a lot of people out there that will try to put timelines and kind of you know talk about what that what you know what that time frame is I know that when he he talks about when they come into the ark where God is beckoning and embracing a basic meaning for us. And it could be it could be summed up as a extending grace by God to man, protecting him. Urge him to avail himself in the perfect provision. So be ye per be ye holy for I am holy. So we know that to be himself a perfect provision and God had made the provision And then number three, in a given time, overwhelming, judgment, and doom. So he gives them the i the invitation. I gave it to you yesterday. the invitation to believe and then judgment. When the Bible talks about when you die, then you're judged. You die, you're judged. You're kind of going somewhere. All right. So the Lord said, as it was in the days of Noah, so will the end of the age. We see this in you're gonna find this in Matthew, and you're gonna find it in Luke. So it kind of correlates the two to give you some proof proof positive here. So we get the breakout here. eleven. Gives us Noah's life, the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day where the fountains of the great deep were broken open, fountains being under the earth and over the earth, really. people say, Well, where'd all that water go? Well, that was that's easy. That went to the ocean. That's where the ocean went. And God had a plan. so on the seventeenth day, the same day were the fountains of the great deep. And the deep broken up. So that's a miracle where he brings up the broken in the we we know there's water under the earth, right? So that was brought up. And the windows of heaven were open. So you had brought up, because under under earth there is water, and then from the heavens, right? The windows of heavens were open. and it gives us literally a floodgate. So I know when I sat here and watched that rain come down for a day and a half, it was coming. As somebody I think they say have a saying that she's coming with her britches pulled up because it's raining. All right. So the rain was upon the earth forty days, forty nights. In the sa in the same self same day entered Noah, Shem and Ham, Japeth, Noah, Noah's wife, the three wives of the sons into the ark. So We're getting this, you know, when it came to pass in the end days, the waters were coming up. It was it was time, the flood was coming, and there was going to be aspects of that flood that is going to be in effect a a challenge. So Noah himself is used as an illustration of saving faith. So Noah was a righteous man under God, was saving faith in this time frame. And When we talk about Shem, let me just say a little bit about this. So Shem, the son of Noah, who survived the flood and became the father of the S Seminite race. Seminite. Ham, he he's his name is Warm, and it's the second son to Noah who disgraced his father. Ham's son Canaan was cursed by Noah and served Shem. So he basically followed his brother because he he shamed his dad. What it was was he uncovered him. And maybe he had a little too much to drink and he uncovered him and he was looked like he was enjoying himself. And his brothers, they turned their back and covered him up and said, you know, we're not supposed to see it. But his this this ham guy. He decides he thinks it's fun. So Japheth is an extension of the third son of Noah who was blessed. So as it rains 40 days and 40 nights in the same self-day, we talk about all the people that enter the ark. They, this is verse 14, they and every beast of its kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing upon the earth after his kind, every fowl, every excuse me every fowl after his kind every bird after every sort so instead of listing all the birds you get in kind and that's what he's using here as the analogy and they went into noah's ark into the ark two of them two and two of flesh wherein is the breath of life and they were in went in went in male and female, all the flesh, as God had commanded him, and the Lord shut him up. So what does he do? Lord shuts the door to the ark for protection. He's the one. It isn't like the people that believed that that there were non believers like, hey no, don't worry about we'll lift the door up for you. We'll close it for you. No, no. God himself shut it. That's what he says. Shut it. And he shut him in. So he a he closed the door. So and the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the water increased. So it's continually increasing. And then we see as it's continually increasing greatly upon the earth, the ark went upon the face of the water, so it started to float, and the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth and the hills, the high hills that were Under the whole heavens were covered. Fifteen cubits upwards the water prevail the seven and the mountains were covered. So the highest peaks were covered. And it's what he's saying. All flesh died. And both fowl can and of cattle. And let me say this about catt cattle is a general sense, but it's not just beef, it's it's it's sheep, it's the lambs, it's different cattle are are are sig are used in in the the Bible they talk about these things. And then it says, and the beast of every creeping and every creeping thing That creepeth upon earth the upon earth and every man. So every man, anything creeping, he did it destroyed everything. All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, so whoever had breath, whoever had life in them, he destroyed it. And all that was in the dry land died. And every every living substance or thing was destroyed, which was upon the face of the ground, both men and cattle and creeping things things and fowl of the heaven. And they were destroyed from the earth, and Noah, right, only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. Verse 24, and the waters prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days, which gives us if we use thirty days, and if we do some math, and we look at it from a thirty-day standpoint, that's five months of of thirty days, is compared to Genesis seven eleven, chapter seven and eleven, and it's compared to a note in chapter eight. So let's move into That was it. So 25. So we will through 25. Let's do some highlights and bring it in for a land in. All right. So Noah has preserved all of mankind. he is what now the godly seed through the world will be replenished, but up at up to this point, the world is going to be destroyed. He repented. Remember what he said the previous verse? And you know, there's a great gap between the two chapters. Okay, so again, I talk about time. There was probably 120 years between those two chapters, six and seven. and six ends with God telling Noah to build it, and chapter seven begins with him telling him to fill it up. So it probably, you know, we know it probably took him 120 years to do it. So just think about that. Imagine that Noah building the ark for 120 years. He's 600 when he gets into it. So That that that should give you some pause that it gives you some color to that story. And We just think how curious that how strange people thought Noah was. People today think we're strange, right? If you're a true believing Christian that is continuing in the faith with Christ and your attributes are seen through your fruits, and your heart is as pure as it can be, and you are constantly growing in grace with God, and you're doing the things and you're being obedient. I assure you that you will be with the Lord. As long as you don't have that about face where you just blaspheme and walk away. so I I throw that there. So there was a great invitation. What was the great invitation? He he told him he said, Come into the ark. Then he talked about the great reason for the invitation was basically as he talked, and then the great obedience. So Yeah, he had the the invitation, he had the the reasons and the invitation given by God to come, and then the great obedience of Noah to follow it. So he is believing on who? Jesus he's believing on God, and he's following the commandments. And the invitation to come, justification and righteous is the I would say the patriarchs of the parents at the time, which was Noah. So What did the earth look like? Well we're gonna look at some things here. the what's are out there. what is it gonna be like to be the only family when they survive? When they get done with this and they come back and they open and the flood waters go away, what does that look like? so those are questions as we think about. that he was within the ark as well as he was outside the ark. That's talking about God. So the Hebrew word come Or enter is the word that is used for Noah to be entering into the Ark. So several pictures can be gleaned from this. We could kind of use our imagination, right? We're we're intelligent people and we look at it and it's a picture of pr of Christ. You can look at it from that standpoint spiritually, it places our lives into who? His hands. It's a picture of Christ. The ark was an an archetype of Christ. by approaching Christ and following him into the safety of God's presence and then approaching the safety and the security of God's presence through Christ and then approaching God through Christ. So we have that propitiation to go and boldly. So the picture is a great invitation for God's Word and God invites People of all time, all times and time again, he's over and over inviting. I think of come now, let us reason. I think of Isaiah when he talks about in Isaiah one hundred eighteen. He says here he says, Ho every one that thirsteth come ye to the waters that he hath no more money come ye and eat ye come by the wine and milk within the money and without the water. Christ, that that's another Isaiah Old Testament. Come unto me, what? All ye to what? Labor and rest. He's giving the invitation, folks. And he sent his servant at the supper time to say to them that were bidden, come for all things are now ready. So we see this over and over where we see the invitation is given, and we see this as far as the archetype. Christ. And then we see there's judgment here, right? So God invites Noah into the ark. He then with the righteousness of God, Noah believed and he believed what God said. Believing and obeying is pleasing God. And that is what I what I'm trying to say today is you go back all these years and talk about Noah, but what was the theme that made him survive? He was He had faith. He believed. He believed what? He believed what God told him and what would happen. Today we have the same challenge with people. Believe that Jesus came, he died, and he rose again for the for for the third day, on the third day, and he is our living Christ forever. He's our salvation, savor. I don't know why people don't believe that. But Anyways, so invitation was there. God invited Noah to enter into the ark, and then Noah was to save the animals of the earth, right? Because he had to repopulate it. Noah and his family were invited to the ark because judgment was definitely coming, right? Verse 4. So Hebrews 11 7 says it this way by faith Noah was warned of God's God of things not seen yet. Moved with fear, prepared an ark, saved his house, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness, which is by what? Faith. That's in Hebrews eleven, seven. If you ever spend any time in the Bible and you go to the book of Hebrews. Hebrews is a is a book of of faith and believing. It's a very, very good book. there's a lot of different camps that say Barnabas wrote it, some Luke wrote it. I still hold to the fact that I think Paul was described of it, but What's in the book is more important because that's that's the inspiration of what God wanted us to know. And so God gave earth one week, a whole week of grace. Remember? In seven days, we're gonna start the rain, the judgment. And then he spells out the judgment that was gonna fall on earth, and he specifically said what he was gonna do. That's why I tell you that. What he says in the New Testament under the New Covenant about what's gonna happen in the future, it's going to happen because how faithful he is as a God that completely did exactly what he said he was gonna do, and he did it. So let's look at it. So we got spell spelled it out. this rain that was never seen before. And and I want you to think about this. It really didn't rain on earth in that time frame. God God missed it, he uses different things to water the the plants and things. It wasn't any rain until after the flood and it gave a an example of some some judgment. But throughout history God has used the number forty to symbolize the great period of trials, right? So let me give you an example of some usage of the Bible where he talks about the number 40. Israel was warned in the w wilderness for what forty years before entering into the promised land. We see that in numbers. Now folks, remember what's amazing to me is if you ever pull a map up and you see how God kind of had them wander, they weren't more than 20 miles from the promised land, but they didn't know that. And it's amazing they were that close, but they never reached it. Why didn't they reach it? Disbelief. Here we go again. The spies were sent out to scout Canaan. Remember when he sent the twelve spies out, most Moses said, Go out and survey the land that Israel was supposed to be entering and stay, and they were to scatter out the land for how long? 40 days. So they went out and scattered another 40 days. So there's two examples of the number 40. Then Moses was on the mountain receiving the law, right? It was the law of the commandments, and He was on there for 40 days and 40 nights. You can find that in Exodus. We'll get to that at some point. But that's another example of 40 days. Elijah, the great Elijah, Elisha Elijah, fasted 40 days and nights in 1 Kings. Nineveh. Nineveh was given what? 40 days to repent, right? And you can read that in Jonah 3:4. Jesus Christ fasted 40 days before he faced the onslaught of the devil's temptation. Matthew 4, 2 will start that that conversation. And it's it's it's it's key for you to to to to look these up. I don't want I don't want to take up a whole lot of time breaking them out, but I'm giving you scripture comparing scripture so you can read these things, not because I said it, it's because you read it for yourself. And you're like me, you're an intellect, you're you're intelligent, we're not. Not Ignorant as Paul says that there's nobody on this earth that's ignorant. There's a lot of people play ignorant, like, yeah, I don't know about that or whatever, but that's not gonna hold up in the day in the future. So Christ also he was what after his resurrection? 40 days. It was a phenomenal ascent, and and he went into heaven. And is is you remember in Acts when Jesus had to go because after 40 days of being witnessed. And he had to go up so the comforter could come, the Holy Spirit that could come in and dwell at Pentecost. What we learn from that aspect, I like what he said, or the angel said when they were all staring and watching him go up and ascend into the clouds. There's a key word there, clouds. And he and the angel said, He will come back in like manner. Well, where do I see that verse in like manner? I see that in first. Thessalonians 4, talking about the rapture, that he will come down from the clouds. You see where I'm going with that? So I'm using scripture with scripture. And I find it in another place in the Bible that talks about the clouds. That's why I'm pretty confident. Alright, God Himself announced this this terrible destruction, you know, and sometimes we look at this sometimes in Noah's day and we marvel, we say to ourselves, why didn't they just believe? Well, I would ask, why don't people believe today? Why is belief something that people are willing to gamble? eternity with. I don't understand, but it it's no different from the people today. The unbelief of the world for belief, few believe. That's why I'm gonna use the word in the Bible that talks about a remnant of Israel will be saved. I think there'll be a remnant of the world population that will be saved. It won't be as big as you think it is. Because why do I say that? In Matthew's it talks about the wide gate and it talks about the narrow gate. I think there's a lot of people trusting in something other than the the saving faith of believing on Christ. You know, I go to church, I sit in the eleventh row, I'm there every Sunday, I I flip some money in the plate, I'm I'm on the I I I'm on the choir, I I sing, I'm always there for every event, you know, and I'm faithful, and that's gonna get me there, folks. That's not gonna get you there, right? John 14, right? What does it say? I am the way, the truth, the life. No man or woman comes to the Father except by me. And you've got to have that by that belief factor of believing who he is and what he has done. And I think it'll be few people that will go through it. And there's a lot of people in these churches that fill it up and they go once a week and then they close the Bible and they never open it up again. And then when they get to heaven one day, one day, you've got to ask yourself, was I obedient? Was I faithful? Did I do what the Bible told me to do? That that's a question you have to ask yourself. I'm not anybody's judge, trust me. I have my own sins. I I use the word Paul. I am the chief sinner of all. I sin, I'm not perfect. but what I do do is I rely on Jesus to help me grow in his grace and to be as obedient as I possibly can with And I'm sure there's a lot more things I could be doing. but I asked him to put the people in front of me and this ministry has helped a lot of people. I could sit here for the next two hours and tell you how many people in their situation and what we did to to to get them in a better place where they weren't. And it was it's it's it's it's hundreds. And I I you know, I don't keep track of all that, but I could tell you that people all have their challenges. We all have, you've heard the saying, we gotta bear our own cross. Well, in life, life's not fair. You live in a fallen world with unbelievers and believers. You you have a choice though. This is what I tell people all the time. When you wake up, if God allows you to wake up and he allows you to put your feet on the floor, you have a choice to do what you should be doing. Shame on you if you're not. am I a hundred percent all the time? Absolutely not. And I'm not gonna sit here and say I am anything better. I'm not any better than you. But what I'm trying to be is real with you to talk about what's important and say, you know, what does God expect of us? Well, that's what we're doing. We're walking through the scriptures to see exactly what these are being told to us. So it's tr it's a tragedy. And in this case, this flo this flood is a tragedy. He had to repent. Repent, he had to turn away from what he created. And and God is going to be forced to destroy this earth once again. Why do I say that? Because it says it in the Bible. Not my words. He's going to destroy the new heavens and the new earth. Everything's going to pass away. You know, so there's there's different viewpoints on that, but pretty simple. If I take pretty plain language to me when I see that, new earth, the new heavens going to pass away. That's not a facade. That is not a smoke and mirrors or imagery, as some of my colleagues would say. that's just imagery. I I would disagree. You take the Bible literal where you should take the Bible literal, and then you take it from hypothetical or from you've heard me say it from a parable or same as a parable would be a similitude. Something that's similar to that can be used as imagery to help understand and that is given to us. So we can have clear understanding. We are not to be ignorant, because he he tells us there's nobody that's gonna be ignorant. I don't care if you're in so you're you're out in the middle of Africa and you're a tribe that's never ever once heard the word Jesus Christ. He says that we know we human nature knows there's something bigger than we in us. And if you're in those tribes or whatever, you know that sun comes up. You know somebody had to put it there, right? You know it starts to rain. You know these things and you get those feelings. You may not not not know particularly the words of Jesus in the Bible, but I gotta be honest with you. When I read Abraham believed and it was accounted righteous to him. And he didn't get baptized. He didn't say a certain prayer. He didn't he didn't you know go to a church, say how many Hail Mary's and Tell a man that, hey, I did this and forgive me and put man above God like the Pope. He he didn't do any of that. And I'm saying there's people in this world, you know, the thief on the cross, same way. I mean, he didn't go through this whole history of discipleship before he went to heaven. He believed and he went to heaven. I I I yeah I'm still I'm gonna say it to the day I don't have any more breath. I'm seeing it from generate Genesis all the way to Revelation. It's a belief factor, folks. You must believe. You see it all through it. He's giving you examples. So you say to yourself, Well, how do I handle that scripture? Well, I look at it from a literal standpoint. he he believed. He believed what? He believed in God that he was going to be the father of many nations, right? And it was accounted or imputed or given to him to God. Just like our grace is given by God in the church age, people of today are given in imputed. And people people are using their own rationale and I'll tell you time in and time out, I'm not a smart man. Anybody can pick up the Bible and read this for themselves. And see exactly what I'm seeing. So he's going to populate again, and this is where he's talking about and just thinking about what he's going to do in the future. You know, when you talk about belief, you gotta you gotta throw in the word obedience. there was great obedience in Noah, so much so that it's called out in the Bible. If it's in the Bible, it's what God wanted you to know. Noah had great faith. The stress of the verses, there was some stresses there I talked about. All those verses were implicit in obedience of Noah. He did exactly what God told him to do. Let me ask you this question. Are you doing what God wants you to do today? That's a question you have to ask yourself. So you have to imagine some of the emotions, maybe some of the effects that are going on here with these eight people that survived the worldwide, I would call a Holocaust, right? essentially the whole world was wiped out. You call it a Holocaust. They just were gone. And that would be the first Holocaust. The second would be with the Jews, and that was that was all that was another horrible situation. But apprehensive, fear, sense, and loneliness and unknowing must have been the most unbearable. And Noah acted and his actions were solely based on the word of God. Are you trusting in your faith in the word of God of what he says? Right? Now therefore, Acts nineteen five, if ye will obey my voice indeed, comma. And keep my covenant, then ye shall be a particular treasure unto me above all people, for all the earth is mine. That's God speaking in Exodus. Powerful. I can't wait to get to that book and talk about some things. But it's so important for us to point these things out. And that's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to help you remove any distractions. Maybe you've read the story. Maybe you forgot about the story. Maybe this is just a a reminder to get you back to where you should be. so again, so when we pick it up from verse ten, there's so much power in that judgment. there's there's great power in God's judgment, great power in his salvation in the judgment. There's great fulfillment of God's word in the judgment, in the great time and the water flooded the earth in the judgment. So judgment, judgment, judgment. Does it Will do you think that's gonna happen again? Okay. Let me just point out a couple of things here. So let's talk about let's talk about three significant things about judgment. God and his power. Had a tra a traumatic day to fix history. A day of judgment was predestined. He gave it one week. That's a predestined. I gave you a foretold. I foretold you one week. Right? I'm gonna stop for one moment. When I read Daniel 9 and I pick up Daniel 11, what is left before he comes? Folks, it's one week. One week. Okay. And then what? Judgment. You see where I'm going with that? I'm just I'm reading what the Bible's saying. So he changes this piece where he wipes out man and on the seventh day of the terrible flood, it started to rain. So on day seven, the skies opened up, the heavens opened up is what the Bible says. And we know that Jo and Noah, he was six hundred years old. I can't imagine. I mean, I'm I'm very young, but he was 600 years old. I don't know if that's the same calendar or how that is done. All those questions I get to ask him when I get to heaven. But in the day of our judgment, and the day of in by the way, it was on the seventeenth day of the second month. So depending on the calendar, if you want to just use our regular Gregorian calendar, which was given to us, that would be February seventeenth. And He talked about on the set 600. You could almost walk that back and know exactly that area in time that the floods happened. Okay. So in the day of our judgment, when we are to stand before God in judgment, it is fixed in history. It is already called out, it's already predestined that we will stand in front of him, right? And it is A fact that the day of our judgment has already been set. No person knows when that day will be. It could be a hundred years from now, it could be five years, it could be one year tomorrow, later, today, I don't know. I'm I'm on the welcoming committee. I don't have the answers. Only God knows Christ crit what Christ clearly has to say. And you can find these verses in Mark, Matthew, Luke. And you'll find lots of things. I'll give you one, Luke 12, 46. The Lord of the that servant, the Lord of that servant, who is the servant we are, will come in that day when he looked not for him, so we won't know. And at the hour when he is not what? Aware. We will not be aware. It will he and he and it says, and will cut him asunder, and will appoint his portion. with unbelievers. It's coming. That's what he's saying. So the other point I wanted to talk about was God's power is violent and it broke up the earth's crust. It it probably subterraneal waters under earth, the were earthquakes, all of that had to be had to be nothing but providential to make that happen. All the fountains of the great deep were broken up in verse eleven. I c I I can't get my head around that. That is probably pretty massive. you know, was it was it the ice age people talk about? Was it where mountains were developed from the waters and they receded? you know, the water's always been there, maybe the earth was pulled went up and now mountains are created. It would instead of the other way, instead of the water going to the ocean, maybe the maybe the mountains come from out of the sea. I don't know. Those are questions we can ask. We will have that opportunity if you are continuing in the faith. All right. I'm not gonna give you some of the scientific views on that. Leo Bold is is a guy that talks about that. you can find it in different things. There's a guy named Derek Kidna Kidnear, a vast upheel upheaval is what he calls the seabed and it took place. So you can find you can find that's his view on that. I mean, and again, H. C. Leopold, he's another great scholar of those days. And now we say God opened up the floodgates of heaven, and it was a dr downpour more so than we've ever seen in our whole life. And he breaks up all the subterian all the subterian waters underneath everything. And he shifts everything. And I can't imagine it. And the crusts of the earth are are formed, mountains and hills are eroded, literally washed away, onslaught of Russian water. Maybe the valleys and crevices were filled, soil, debris, all these things that just come to mind. Job tells us, Behold, he withholdeth the water, who's he? God and they dry up. Also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth. That's in Job 12, 15. And he gives us a thought there to be thinking about how the earth's core and surface is changed only by one. Now the ark is a archetype itself, the boat archetype. It's an ocean liner. I described that yesterday in my podcast. It's an ocean liner. It is an archetype of salvation. What happened? These people knows they went into the ark, okay, that for his protection. God closed the door to protect them from the wrath, and it is an example of what we would say great salvation from God who saved them amidst this judgment. This is kind of what we need to look at in the future. That's gonna happen with the second coming. so You know, so a couple things, and when I talk about the archetype, I talk about he purposed and he planned the ark. Even the minute to the detail, right? Because he told him, seven days I'm gonna start raining. He mean everything was planned. It took Noah one hundred and twenty days to build the ark. And you know he couldn't do it by himself. He had to have help. So God himself purposed and planned the coming of Christ to save man. Before the foundations of earth. That's all New Testament. Did you hear what I just said? All New Testament. There was one door to the ark. Jesus is what? One door, and the only way to get to the presence of God. See where I'm going with my thinking? God gave provisions for light within the ark. One window and opening for skylight ran all the way through the ark. It ran 18 inches from top from the top. And this is where God gives the provision of light to the world. Who was the light, folks? Jesus Christ. Just like an archetype with that picture of that window is an archetype in the New Testament where Jesus becomes that light unto man. And God Himself gave the great invitation to come and enter the dark the the ark. God himself invites man to come, even today. To enter in his safety, his security, call it an ark, his son through Lord, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Another one I would say would be the ark was a vessel and a refuge, a place of safety, place of security from this horrible judgment that fell upon the earth at the time. Well, guess what, folks? Jesus Christ is the believer, is refuge. He's my my wife, you're my wife gave me this little guy. Is this little Jesus right here? You ever seen these? I think it's pretty cool. Got a little Jesus today? I got some today. So what is Jesus to you? Well, you have to that's that's between you and him. But Jesus is the believer of refuge for us and security of the coming judgment of hell and eternal separation. The the hell itself hates Ghana, all these names that hell itself is scary. But I'll tell you what's more scary is being separated from God forever and having no hope in anything. Ever. That should scare you more than yeah, I mean you should scare, you know, hell, but being separated from Jesus and his refuge, that is a that's a scary thought all by itself. And we know that Noah again, the family in the waters were the judgment. so the believer through the judgment now. Waters of baptism is a symbol of the saving work of Christ for the true believer. So you've heard me say it. It is just an outward decision, or excuse me, an outward profession of an inward decision. It's not going to get you to heaven, but it's called a believer's baptism or a symbol at that point. And God called Noah to separate from the world, from the wickedness, from the evil, from the doom. And how did he do that? He had to enter the ark to get away. And God Himself, what does he do? He secures through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the believer has perfect security, and God sees to it. And His Son Jesus Christ as well. So the other piece I would say God kept the door of mercy open, the door of the ark open right up until the end. So if you were in Noah's time, you could have listened to what he had to say. They had to know. Dude took a hundred and twenty years to build it. Noah what are you doing? Building an ark or an ocean liner, why? Well, God told me to. I mean, he's obedient. Well why would he do that? Because there's gonna be a a flood or whatever, you know. They had to laugh. What were they laughing about? All right, so God has his ministers of today, and there's followers all over the world that do preach the gospel of salvation. And God has the door of mercy open right now. But the end, I'm not threatening you. I'm just telling you, if you read Luke 13, 24 and Matthew 25, 1 through 13, I'm not threatening you. I'm telling you what it says. That door of mercy is going to be closed, and soon coming, the door will be shut. And then there'll be judgment. Just like it says, you die, and then you're judged. So, anyways, I am just the communicator of the situation. And I'm trying to give you Fair warning and and trying to implore you to think about it. So God fulfilled his word. He did exactly what he said he was going to do in those forty days and forty nights. And we see those examples I gave. We know that it was not destroyed, so it floated. And God destroys all of life. We know that, which is a tragedy. Noah, the people of Noah were drowning long before the flood came, folks. They were drowning in what? Sin. They were they were immoral. They were they were they were drowning in pleasure, divorce, remarriage, violence, lawlessness. They were they were they were they were drowning in drunkenness and drugs and partying and sensualities and possessions and money and buying and selling property and buildings and and maybe even their jobs. All these things they were drowning in as people are today. no but nobody's stepping back and looking at what history the best prediction of future behavior or history is past performance. Well I'm giving you something in the old testament in Genesis that is being called out in the all the way to Revelations. All right. So God saves Noah and the Ark with him. And then this too was a fulfillment of his word and his promise to Noah. And God will save anybody who believes and follows him. I'm just going to be honest with you. You believe and you follow him. any person who fully obeys the basis of life and his word and his warnings, you're going to be his elect. You're going to be his saints. And the last part of this in verse 24, I think of what Isaiah says in 12, to he says, Behold, what does that mean? Look. God is my salvation. I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song. He also is become my salvation. And folks, that was chapter seven. We're going to go into chapter eight at another time. Hope it was a blessing to you.
