Dr. Dean Alley PhD: All right, Chaplin Dean Alley here. I had a moment. I hope you're doing well today. We are gonna jump into Genesis twenty-one. Had a great Bible study yesterday with Leanne and I think Bev, they looked at it. I recorded it so folks could see it. And hopefully that was a blessing to them. And the the whole point is, and just so you know, they're in a discipleship program with me, and they're I'm mentoring them as disciples and going to continue to build more disciples through them and at the same time try to find people that want to be part of the Bible study, which Let me just say this. It is not a start stop. It's we're gonna connect and I'm gonna be your mentor for as long as I'm alive. And that's my goal here. And you know, as I go live here, I'm just talking about yesterday. I was thinking about it. We have some great dialogue, some great conversations. I learn from them. I learn rereading the information. I've read the Bible several times. Every time I pick it up, it is a it's alive, it is quick, and it cuts asunder down under it is something that I am able to learn from each and every time. We are doing a little live stream here and I know a lot of people don't like to jump on during the live stream, but if you are you can always put a comment on or something like that. I'm open to answering any questions that may come up, professionally speaking and We are going to be in Genesis chapter twenty-one. And let's see if I can get us there. It's a little bit longer than it's been in a couple a couple of them. I think we've got some short ones here. but this one is going to Covered the birth of Isaac, I believe. Yeah, so we did chapter twenty-one. We are going to get into chapter twenty-two. And let me set myself up here for twenty-two, which is where we want to be. And I'm gonna read that. We're gonna go through that. I hope I hope you guys are doing well. I hope your day is going well. this is a little bit this is twenty twenty-four chapters in chapter twenty-two. And we're going to cover Abraham's command meant basically to offer up Isaac, his son. Scary stuff, right? He's going to be commanded to offer up Isaac as a sacrifice. And the reasoning behind the sacrifice, folks, is just to keep in mind, he was being tested. Obviously, God wasn't expecting him to go through it, he'd stopped him before he got there. So so let's just jump into the first couple First couple, let's see here. gotta go to twenty two. So apologize. Should have been ready. It wasn't I was looking at twenty-one. What threw me off is my notes. My notes threw me off. Alright, so When we look at chapter Essentially let's see if we can get Get me there, but I'll get there anyway. So Abraham Abraham is to sacrifice Isaac, the supreme sacrifice of faith. So it's a faith test. He's gonna faith test him. And see if he does follow the steps of absolute surrender. Boy, I tell you what, you talk about find a way to be tested, sacrifice one of your children. This is kind of the narrative in chapter twenty-two. And let me just kind of read in here. We're gonna go through basically, and it came to pass as these things that God did tempt. Abraham. So he is tempting him at this point. This is a test. And said unto him, Abraham, and he said, Behold, or look, here I am. Verse 2. And he said, Take take thy son, thine only son, Isaac, whom you thou lovest, and get thee out of the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering upon. One of the mountains, which I will tell thee. So he didn't tell him right away. So Abraham's what? He's faced with something. What is he faced with? He's faced with God's demand for this absolute sacrifice. He is faced at the highest level. He did he this demand, this is number one, would be God testing Abraham, and two, God asking Abraham to offer his son as that sacrifice. So the test and the sacrifice we see comes out of these two verses as we start to look at. Chapter twenty two of Genesis. And verse three says, And Abraham rose and up early in the morning to saddle and saddled his ass and took of his young men with him. So he took two men with him. And Two men with him, and Isaac, his son, enclaved the wood and burnt offerings, and rose up and went unto the place in which God had told him. Then on the third day, Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw a place far off. So here we are with Abraham's thought is through this sacrifice, and Abraham naturally thought, through God's unusual demand, that While he obeyed and he made the preparation. So he is you knit you know it's he's thinking about it, you know that it's in the back of his mind. You know that he's thinking, What is going on here? How could I tell how could God tell me to sacrifice my son? You know, is this not against what God forbids us? We know that because when we learn in Genesis nine, nine chapter verse five, he says, And surely your blood, your lives Will I require at the hand of every beast? Will I require it? And at the hand of every man, at the hand of every b man's brother, will I require it? of the basically if you shed blood, he's gonna require your your shedness of blood. So, you know, how can he how can I sacrifice my own son? I'm just thinking, I'm Abraham. How how do I sacrifice my own son? the son of my heart, the one I've wanted forever, from life. fr in my life and would would I rather die myself than to sacrifice my son. These are things are running through his head as we look at these these verses and we look at then he says what he says basically he says what about the promise God? You promised you'd give me your word that Isaac was my promised son. These are things as a human being you're gonna be thinking about or least I would be thinking about if I was Abraham when I was in this situation. How can I ever face Sarah if I go sacrifice this son? Or for that matter, face anybody, right? And what about my testimony before the world? What are the unbelievers going to think? All those who know me in in all of Canaanites know me, the Egyptians, the Philistines, he you know, he had a reputation, he was wealthy, he had a lot of things. What kind of testimony does he give? Of himself by sacrificing his son. God sacrificing us does not match your promise. I can reconcile all this in my mind, but how can I fulfill your promise if I do this thing, God? These these are things that are just going through his head. You know, what do you mean? What do you want me to do? I don't understand. You ever been there, folks? You ever not on just not understand what's going on? Why God has you doing these things, why these rampant thoughts that just kind of go through your mind, you know, and you start thinking about it. The sacrifice of our our of our lives to God for us is the absolute surrender. Demands thought, the deepest and the most serious of thought. Any person, any person who hears God's call to the absolute surrender. To sacrifice his total life to God. We are to sacrifice ourselves to God. And we must know that what He is doing, we put trust into that. He must think through God's call, just like Abraham in this moment. He's got to be thinking through this. You know? I think of sacrificing in our son. I think of Luke 9:23 when it says, and he said to them. All if any man, who's he, he is Jesus, talking to who them, the disciples, and anybody that wants to follow. Any if any man will come after me, let him what deny himself, right? And take up his cross daily and follow me. That's what you get out of that conversation. And we're only in the first couple verses here. So so be thinking about that, you know. What is going on in i it what you know, he's in he's in he's in a place where they says, I don't understand. So We get to verse five. So we know he sees this land far off. And Abraham said unto his young men, this is his Hate to use word slaves, but workers. Because a lot of them loved their their masters. They had masters that took care of them. And they loved him. And he said unto his young men, Abide here, ye here with the ass, and I will take the lad and go yonder and worship and come again to you. And Abraham took the wood, the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac's his son. Now he's a son's carrying it. And he took it. Took the fire in his hand and with his knife, and he went up to gather them together. And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father, this is Isaac, and he said, Here I am, son. And he said, Behold the fire and wood, but where is the lamb that we're going to sacrifice? Where is the lamb for the burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide. himself a lamb for the burnt offering so that we when they when we went both of them together. So he he's saying, you know, don't worry about it. God's gonna take care of it. He's gonna provide us this lamb. so so we see it where Abraham's starting to he trusts God and his power to raise up and use this sacrifice. It shows great trust, number one, that Isaac would return with him Two, the tender walk together as father and son. You see, this is it, it emulates the father and son that walking together. and he says, My father, and he said, Yes, son, where is the lamb for the sacrifice? This is a great trust re-emphasized through God with will provide with Son. Can you see the like the likeness of God the Father and then our relationship with Him? Can you see? Just in these few verses and what he's doing and how this can be looked upon in our lives of what he expects for us when we trust and put our faith in him. You know, Abraham believed that God would raise up Isaac from the dead if he needed to be. So he knew Abraham said unto his young men, Abide here ye with the ass, and I and the lad will go yonder and worship and come again. Catch the word. come again. So even if he actually if he did sacrifice him, he believed that God God would r would would would would make him alive again. He'd be he he'd be unalived, he'd make alive again. So after he sac sacrificed and Abraham instructed his wait here until I come back. And Abraham was not lying to his men. He was actually he actually believed them both would return. He absolutely had that much faith in God that he would return with his son, even though he's being told to essentially sacrifice, right? And Hebrews tells us that Abraham what God what he was thinking that God would raise him from the dead. And we see this in Hebrews 11 17 by faith by what? Faith when he was tried, offered up Isaac and he that had received the promise Offered up his son begot his only begotten son. And he says, in whom it s was said that in Isaac shall thy seed be called. So we we see where he's being called in Hebrews tells him where he's going to be the seed. And it's accounting that God was able to raise him from the dead, even raise him up even from the dead, that the dead from whence also. He received him as a figure. So we get the sense right there that he is g he's pretty confident at this point that God can do this. And Abraham knew God's word and he knew his promise and he kept it. So you gotta keep in mind that Abraham had never seen any person raised from the dead. He has he doesn't know anything about this. He doesn't know if that's gonna happen, but he has faith. But that thought did cross his mind. Think about it. It crossed my mind too, folks. I gotta be honest with you. But you note on how he surrenders to God. Do you see that? Can you see how the scripture shows how he's just surrendering and all all the way through God and he had no experience in this? Abraham and Isaac, as they walked together, going to this mountain, Abraham was bound to be hurting in his heart. He gotta be thinking, I gotta kill my son. This is not gonna be good. So it's gotta be cruci j it just must be crushing on him. And it just was intense and they're walking together and they're drawing near. And we know when Isaac asks, he says, 'Well, we where are we gonna get this lamb?' and then we see Abraham, what does he do? He shows his great trust in God by simply saying that God himself would provide the lamb for this offering. And true, Abraham knew that God would raise Isaac from the dead if he needed to. So these two beliefs. were flooding his mind. So he had no idea what God was going to do, but he trusted him. He trusted what? That God could raise Isaac. He trusted that if he needed to, God could stop him from sacrificing. So he knew either way that that could be one of the functions of this situation where God would reach in here. So it makes you think sometimes what is it that steers us to sacrifice our lives to God? What steers inside you? to make an absolute surrender to him, to trust, believing in God, has the power to raise us up and take our lives and raise and take us up and use us. And God, who has, he's done this and he's has the power to raise us. And that's what happens when we accept Jesus. We must therefore trust God. We have to put our faith, hope, and trust into him that we know that he will raise us up and we must surrender to him. That's the key, folks. And he s forsake of this world we he the needy and the lost. You know, so let's keep going here as we we go through here. Let's pick it up in nine. And they came to the place which God told him of and good Abraham built the altar alt altar. There he laid the wood in order and bound Isaac and his son, and he laid it on the upon the wood, and Abraham stretched forth his hand and stretched out the knife to slay his son. So get the imagery. He's got the knife. He's got his son on there. Abraham's following through on this this this sacrifice. He makes the final preparations. He binds and laying the sacrifice on the altar, size his son up and actual offering the sacrifice for absolute surrender to God. You know God he said in the beginning he's testing him. He's testing him. And when we think about just these two things, this is the the absolute surrendering to God. And he shows us this example. Now I'm not telling you go out and build an altar and slay a child and burn and everything, you know. I'm using this as an object lesson to talk about the s sacrifice and the surrender. So this step four is the absolute surrender in this this this situation. It had been three days since God had instructed Abraham to make the supreme sacrifice. Did you catch that? Three days. Key word. Words matter, numbers matter, sib symbols. Three days. We know that God was raised three days later, right? So here we are all the way in chapter twenty two, talking about three days. it had been three days since they had that until the sacrifice, and then he had he agonized over it. Abraham made those final pre preparations, he built the alt altar, he laid the wool wood down there for the alt for the sacrifice, and would Abraham do it? That was the question. And I think God was testing him. I think God already knew, but did Abraham love God enough to obey his word and make that supreme sacrifice to God, to offer his own son as a sacrifice to God. Scripture tells us the tense graphic, the tense of the statement. Abraham bound Isaac, his son, and laid him on the altar of wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and he took the knife to slay his son. That's what verse 10 tells us. And note that Abraham actually bound and laid the the sacrifice of his own son on the on the altar. But note that Isaac was willing to let his father, that was the other thing. I'd be kicking and screaming. I don't know about you, but in this case, he's allowing him to offer him up. Abraham was an elderly man, Isaac probably in his twenties, maybe twenty twenty years old or so. Isaac could have easily overcome his father just in sheer strength. And fled away. And the scripture has nothing to say about a struggle. there's a commentator that said that now I marvel of marvels that he actually binds his son. Isaac submits and in this act is best explained as an act of confidence in his father. So he has confidence in the situation. And not only that he had deep love for his father, and he knew that he didn't want to wish him any harm. so therefore as it is said not that Abraham achieved the complete submission of faith, but the whole story is convincing evidence that he did. So Isaac Isaac Isaac's case is a the same submission, only more passive in character, is also it's present that Isaac suffered himself to be bound and act in the serene faith of God and with the full confidence of his father. And folks, you know Again, that's that comes from one of the commentaries he says that. So it had to be both Isaac as well as his his father had to be in a deaf t difficult difficult difficult place. So note that Abraham actually offered the son up, made absolute surrender to God, and he took that knife, he reaches forward, just get that image, and he's willing to sacrifice everything. His son, the one son that he wanted. Remember he had he's so old he's had the son. Have you ever been in a place I would ask? it to that you had to offer up your life as a sacrifice to God. Have you ever made the absolute surrender of your life? And you have to ask yourself, have I? Do we love God more than anything, folks? What's the first commandment? Love God with all your heart, mind, and strength. And we are to love God. We are to be willingly sacrificing ourselves for totally for God, for His cause. We are to surrender for His cause. We are His vessel. Are we willing to do everything God wants us to do? To to give God everything in our lives and our possessions? Are we give willing? What's our biggest possession? Remember, anything that is put in front of God is an idol. Could be money, it could be your job, it could be your gun collection, could be the deer heads on the wall. Anything that you put in front of God is an idol, keep that in mind. So again, are we willing to sacrifice everything for God, all the possessions in order to take the gospel of the s God's Son to the uttermost parts of the earth? Are you willing to tell people about God? You willing tell them about Jesus? Are you willing to obey totally, no matter the cost? And are we willing ourselves to surrender with the absolute surrender as Abraham? So we have to think about that. We must give ourselves totally to God. And we must give all our possessions, everything to get the word of God out to save this world. You know, and I'll pick up here in Levin, but think about that. How many people are willing to do that? Are you willing to sacrifice yourself? There's a lot of people who don't do it because of convenience. Let's pick it up in verse eleven. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven and said, Abraham, Abraham, and he said, Here I am. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon thy lad, neither do thou anything unto him. For now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son. Thine only son for me. And verse 13 says, And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and he looked beyond behold him a ram caught in the thicket by the horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jirah. It as it said to this day, in a moment of The day it is it shall be seen. So Abraham's experiencing God's acceptance and prov his provisions at this point. God accepts accepted the sacrifice and the surrender of Abraham. So it is he accepts what he's doing. God stopped Abraham, and then God accepted the fear and reverence and trust that Abraham put in this situation and how serious it was. God provided a substitute sacrifice that. Let that ram that was in the thicket came out of nowhere. And God was worshipped, and Abraham memorialized the place, naming it Jo Jehovah Jirah. And and we'll talk about what that means in a minute. But so when we think about these these these verses here, it's part of that absolute surrender of experiencing God's acceptance and his provision. Now comes the great joy, sacrificing everything. God accepted the sacrifice. And surrender of Abraham's heart. He called out to Abraham and he said, Stop. And he called him from heaven. And when Abraham reached out and he took the knife to slay his son, God knew right then that his heart had totally surrendered to God. Total, absolute, total and absolutely surrendered. Nothing, absolutely nothing. It stood between Abraham and God. That and God saw that. And Abraham would sacrifice anything to obey God. And Abraham obeyed God. And no matter the sacrifice or cost, God was the most precious person and the most treasured thing in Abraham's life. You'd have to note a couple things here. you know, God he acknowledges God's and he and that Abraham feared, reverence, and trusted God. He had to have been afraid, but he feared God more. And He loved God more and a above all else, right? That's what he said. He said, and lay not, he calls him out, lay not at your hands. in his heart, Abraham offered the supreme sacrifice to God. Within his heart, Abraham had made the ultimate or the absolute surrender to him. of himself to God. So he's really laid it out there. So the point here is God is after what? Your heart, people. There's surrender of the surrender of our spirits for him, not slaying of other bodies. God wants a living sacrifice, not dead bodies. God wants the bodies of people, but he wants the living bodies, not dead bodies. God wants the human sacrifice, but he wants the sacrifice of living, not dead. God wants people to sacrifice their lives their hearts, b spirits and bodies to who? To him. He wants us to surrender themselves totally and absolute. And he wants them and us to be alive and not dead. So I use the analogy here. So if you are alive, quickened with the spirit and saved with within Christ living, he want that's what he's after. The people that that do not believe and they shun him, they are the dead people. They are without. And you know, when you start thinking about this sacrifice, Abraham's heart, it it's it's always in a willingness of or to the surrender of the heart. That's that's for us too here today, folks. God is after our heart, not the actual sacrifice. Our hearts must reach out to God before we lay that sacrifice before God. And there's many examples through the Bible we can see that. And God provided that substitute sacrifice, right? What was it? God God put that ram out of nowhere in that thicket as a substitute for Isaac. And then the burnt offering, he goes on. And then got and Abraham worshipped God and memorialized the place and he called the place Ja Jehovah Jirah. The Hebrew means the Lord provides. Jehovah Jirah, Lord provides. That's the Hebrew word for what that means. So the Lord will provide. Are you praying to Jehovah Jirah today for him to provide for you? Lord met his need. He gave Adam a a substitute sacrifice instead of his son. It wasn't about the sacrifice, it was about the heart. So Abraham's offering his son to Isaac is a picture of God offering his son, Lord Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for the man or for us. Sacrifice of Isaac is a type of symbol, a picture, a prophecy, a sacrifice of Christ on Calvary, folks. The sacrifice of God's very own son, the Lord Jesus Christ, for what? For the sins of this world, right? Lord Abraham asked Abraham excuse me, Abraham he was asked to give up the most cherished possession, his son. I remember let me give you an object lesson. So years ago, okay, everybody knows I'm a sports fanatic, I'm a Red Sox fan, Bruins fan, Patriots fan. Celtics fan, I mean all Boston, all New England always, since mid-70s. I was a sports junkie. I had to be involved. I loved it and everything. And then we started winning these Super Bowls. This guy called Tom Brady, who wins what? What do you win? Five, seven? I don't know. He won a lot. So my my point to this story is this. I'd had a Super Bowl party at my house. I had everybody over my house. The family was over. You know how you set up, you have little little hors d'oeuvres or little snacks for everybody to have and everybody to be able to just enjoy the game. And it was it was like one of the best games ever, you know, that I'd watched. I forget which year it was. Had the whole house full. And all of a sudden I got up, I put my shoes on, and I grabbed my Bible and I headed to the door. The entire house, you could hear a pin drop. folks, you could hear a pin drop. And somebody said, I don't I don't remember who it was, they said, Where are you going? It was like third or fourth period. I mean it was it was a game. It was close. I said I have to go serve my God. I need to go to church and go serve. And I went out the door. Actions speak louder than words, folks. People would say, You gave up a championship game with the New England Patriots winning with Tom Brady to go to church for God? The answer was yes. And I was demonstrating that type of sacrifice as nothing compared to what Abraham did. But I'm giving you just an object lesson that it actually happened. This is a true story. I did. I got up, it was a Sunday night and I left. And I came back and you know they had won. But the point I was making to the entire family and friends Was I had something that was more important than my most favorite football team of all time, New England Patriots. It was hard. So you have to think about these things. And and Abraham in this situation believed God. He would raise him up. Isaac was apparently was willing to be sacrificed. The ram was provided for his substitution. And Abraham Abraham called that place Mount Moriah. Jehovah Jira, which means provide. The Lord will provide. So Mount Moriah, when we see it in the on the map, Atlas, Mount Moriah, you can keep that in mind that that is where the sacrifice was for Isaac to be done. Now I think Mount Moriah could be wrong, but I th I I I I don't know. I'd have to research it, but I think that's that's Jerusalem. I think Jesus Christ was there. He was up for sacrifice and everything. Don't quote me on that. Fact check me all day, but it kinda sticking out right now. I'm not sure. I'd have to go look at it. to see if Mount Moriah actually is in Jerusalem. Let me see if I can find it on a map real fast. Okay. No not there. There, Judea, Emmaus, Jerusalem, Udaman. This map is not showing anything where Mount Moriah might have been. hoping it would give me something. Okay, you got Mount Ebel, Mount Gearsim, Mount Tabor. Mount Nebo, which is east. Do not see Mount Moriah. I'll have to look it up. I'll have to Google it. You guys will have to Google it, right? So anyways, just bringing that up, the Isaac was he he he Isaac was the bearer of the consuming fire of Abraham. Jesus Christ has borne the consuming fire of God's holiness and his judgment against sin. The Bible uses the fire to as a symbol of what? The holiness and judgment of God, right? So think about that. That's a that when we talk about that sacrifice and that fire, that's judgment, right? And that's holiness. It's one of the same. And Abraham received the great joy of joy of promise because he was willing to sacrifice and do the will of God at that time. And Jesus is the experience for us is the ful fulfillment and joy because he totally sa surrendered himself, right? For us, lived a perfect life, sinned he went to the cross for our sins in a man that never sinned. And and died for our sins, and he was our sacrifice and our pip propitiation for sin. So let's pick up verse 20. See where I'm at now. I'm in fifteen. So in the lane, and the angel of the Lord called Abraham out of heaven and said the second time, and he said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing and hast not withhold thy son, thine only son, that This blessing, This blessing I will bless thee, and the multitudes I will multi multiply thy seed as the stars in heaven, as the sands of the sea and the seashore, and thy seed shall progress or possess the gates of his enemy. So and he goes on to say in eighteen he says, And thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because of thou hast obeyed my my voice. So Abraham is the very verse. person that is obeying at that at the point. So we see where Abraham gives God's promise and renewed heart God s gave him a solemn oath right he swore by himself God renewed by promise of promised seed meaning the great nations of Israel and its people and God renewed that promise and that promise seed meaning singular in seed and that is the Savior of the world. So let's look at 19. Well, let me just talk about some things here on so again, this is a covenant. He makes it. The angel of the Lord, by the way, is Jesus. Jehovah, Yahweh, Jesus, Jesus, all angel of the Lord is is is Jesus. So anyways, God gave all Abraham a solemn oath, right? The most solemn oath could that could be given. God swore by himself and he staked a promise, and he said to him in his own nature, in his own name, God could swear by no greater name or person than himself. So God himself is giving him this solemn oath. God renewed that promise of the promised seed, meaning the great nations of the people, Abraham's descendants. Also were the numbers of the stars and sky of the skies and the sands of the sea. Not that Abraham's descendants were possessed this the cities and enemies. So he he would also allow them to conquer enemies and that. And God renew renews that promise again, and of that promise. So let's think about this for a minute. So the great promise of God are sure, guaranteed, and confirmed by God Himself. God has sworn that He stands behind every single promise. Every single promise will be fulfilled, literally and completely fulfilled. Omnipotent means all power of God will guarantee these fulfillments. Folks, did you just hear what I said? So if this Bible is written and it tells us everything we should know, we should know that God's coming back and He's going to fulfill. You've heard the word, maybe not, jot and Tittle. Not until all jot and tittle is filled before I come back. I will come back when the fullness of the Gentiles come in, when all who he wants that comes to him from the Gentiles you'll see him come in. I think it's continually obvious as we look around today and see these things. But we need to note that the promises that are given that will receive, that basically who is it that's going to receive these promises? I'm gonna tell you real simple, obedient. The obedient people will be the ones that will receive the promises. The and and I gotta tell you, you read the Old Testament, Israel wasn't always obedient. You read the New Testament. Gospels. They weren't always obedient. Think about today. Are we obedient in today's world? No. We want to do it our way. We want our way. I want it my way. It's it's about me. I want this. I want that. I want this. I should live my best life. Ever watch a commercial? You deserve this Mercedes. You because you deserve it. Not the fact you're gonna go in debt and you can't afford it or do the maintenance. Forget about that. But you deserve it. That's what society's gonna tell you. That's what the world will tell you. Go get it. Go on vacation. Jack that credit card up. Don't worry about it. Don't live your best life. I don't know how many times I hear that. Makes me sick. Live my best life. You live your best life in God. You live your best life by serving and being in God and with God. But we have to note that the I just I I look at it that knowing that this all powerful God is going to fulfill everything that He said he's going to do. the person who sacrifices everything who's absolutely surrendering himself to God will have the promises of God and it will take effect. Why do I say that? Well, let's look what does Scripture say? Romans four twenty one and being fully persuaded. That what he promised, who's he, God, he will be able to perform. That's in Romans. For all the promises of God, in him, right? So if you're believing in him, who's him? Jesus, are you or yea? And in him, amen, until the glory of God by us. So if we believe not, yet he abideth faithful. We cannot deny himself. Eve if so, even the people that do not. believe he is going to be faithful and he's going to do what he says he's going to do. Blessed be the Lord that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that it was promised that hath not fought failed one word of his promise, which is promised by the hand of Moses and servant. First Kings eight fifty-six. So let's talk about this landing. We're coming in for a landing. So verse nineteen, so Abraham he returns as a young man Abraham returns unto his young men, and they rose up and they went to Bersheba. And Abraham dwelt in Bathsheba. And it came to pass after these things that it was told, Abraham saying, Behold, Milka says she has borne children unto thy brother Nahor, Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, Kemel and his father Aram, and Ches. And Haz Azar, Zeo Za and Pil Dash and Jidlap and Bethew. And Bethew Bigat, now we're going to the bet bigats. Reason reason you you get these is it it you didn't have a town hall where you could go look it up to see who was born. That so they they basically used these as you know dogmatic truth where you came from your family because it was very important. And they bare Nahor and Abraham, that was Abraham's brother. And the concubine who was named Rumah, she bare also Teva and Ham and Thahash and Ma and Mahakalah. So we see this where Abraham, God's w servant, receives good news. He travels back to Beersheba. He receives the good news from his brother Nahor from the traveler. His brother Nahor had been blessed with a very large family. So we learn here that Abraham travels back. Abraham receives the good news. And remember, he had had no contact with his two brothers for about 60 years. That's why it's significant. So Nahor lived in Mesopotamia, probably in the days of Nahor, named after him. The distance was just too far for him and Abraham to visit each other. Traveling by a caravan probably brought news to Nahor to Abraham. So Abraham's brother, Nahor, has has been blessed with a large family. The family seems to be given here to show the roots of Rebecca was soon to be his wife and Isaac. So we get this analogy and we get this generational thing called out for us because that's where Rebecca is going to be Isaac's wife. So that's why you see the lineage here. And you can see where this is being called out in these last few verses in the conclusion. That's what we're talking about. So when we think about it, the sacrifice of Abra of Isaac is profound, folks. I hope and pray that was a blessing to you. I hope that you get something from that. we need to be all in.
