Dr Dean Alley, PhD: Alright, Chaplain Dean Alley here. I had a moment. I hope you're doing well. It's Friday. You made it. Yay! It's Friday. But a tough night last night. No internet. It was out for like, I don't know, at least eight to ten hours. I don't know. Something like that. But anyways, we were out with no power. I mean I'm sorry, no internet. And if you've never had your internet like me, I put a lot of stock into mine and usually pay a pretty good penny for it, but it's usually reliable. I had to go to plan B, which if you guys Single one of these. This is my backup internet. Works anywhere in the world. SIMO. So last night we were working off SIMO. I was able to watch the news. I was able to watch some of the ball game. I was able to you know, filter through some stuff, plus of course I was reading a study, excuse me. Got up too early too late, right? So Tell you what. you ever put an order in? I use like Food Line Walmart or Aldi, but I like Aldi because of the organics and Believe it or not, it's cheaper. So anyways Anyway, so yeah, 41. So we did 40, and that went pretty good, I thought. And this one is a Herky one. What do I mean? She's heavy. Lots of verses in this guy. We're gonna go all the way to it's gonna talk about the dreams and how it's being studied or how it's being interpreted. And We're gonna tackle this baby 57 verses. So I've got three way there's two one way I'm I'm gonna read through the fifty-seven. Then I'm gonna give you maybe a mid-rash Hebre Hebraic viewpoint on that dream. Then I'm gonna give you some points and finish her up. So that's kind of my hope. That's hopefully we get there. Alright, let's get into this bad boy. And again, this one's gonna talk about Pharaoh's dream. If you have your Bible, you can come along with me. If not, that's okay too. Alright, so starts off 41 says it this way the word of God says, and it came to pass at the end of the two full years that Pharaoh dreamed, and behold, he stood by by The river. And behold, there were there came up out of the river seven well-favored kind and fat fleshed, and they fed in the meadow. Again, so let me just say, let me just stop for a moment. So I've been doing a full-on study in Daniel and Talking about, you know, the Babylonian time frame and all that other stuff. And it helps you understand some things. And this is going to be interpreted, and we're going to interpret it, but it just gives you some more background behind it. So as I read this, I recall some of my Daniel conversations and readings that I've had. So and behold, seven other kinds, which were cows, came up from them. out of the river, ill favored, and leaned flesh, and stood by the other kind upon the brink of the river. So he's indicating some kind of cow. It's looking not that good. And he slept and dreamed a second time, and behold, seven ears of corn came up out of one stock, rank and good. And behold, seven thin ears and blasted with east wind Sprung up after them, the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and behold, he realized it was a dream. And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled. You ever had a spirit trouble? You ever get to a point where something is troubling you, something is on weighing on you? and if you Feel that, folks? That's the Holy Spirit. That's your proof positive. There's a God. And he sent and called for his magicians of Egypt. Remember, these are pagan Gentiles. These are these are people that believe in all kinds of paganism, every kind of idol you can imagine. And all the wise men therein. And Pharaoh told them his dream, but none, but there was none that could interpret it until Pharaoh. Then spake the chief butler unto the Pharaoh, and he said, I do remember my faults to this day. So he says, I faulted. And Pharaoh was wroth and angry with his servants, and he put me in the ward in the captain's guard house, both me and the chief baker. So this is an example of were the chief baker and Yeah, chief chief baker and butler were put in there. Remember the the story where we read earlier that Joseph or Yosef was able to d read the the dreams that they were having. So he said that you were wrong basically you were mad at me, Pharaoh, and you threw us both in the in the captains of the guardhouse in the prison, both me and the chief baker. And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream. And there was there with a young man a Hebrew servant to the captain of the guard, We told him, and he interpreted it to our dreams, and each man according to his dream, and he did interpret it. And it came to pass as he interpreted to it, so it was me he restored unto my office, and him he hanged. So you get the remember one was hanged, he told one would be hung, and the other one would be restored. Then Pharaoh sent and called for Joseph, and he brought him hastily out of the dungeon. And he shaved himself and changed his raiment and came in unto Pharaoh. So he had to clean up. Gotta take a bath, buddy. You gotta put some new clothes on. You go in front of the the the Pharaoh here, the big guy. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it, and I heard say of thee that you canest Understand a dream and interpret it. And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, If it is not me, God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace. So he invokes God right away, and he's telling Pharaoh, Hey buddy, it's not me, it's it's God that does this. And Pharaoh said unto Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold or look. I stood by the bank of the river, and behold, or look, it came up out of the river, seven kind, fat fleshed, well favored, and well fed fed in the meadow. So very, very, very healthy cows. And behold, seven other kind or cows came up out of out of them, poor and very ill, ill favored and lean flesh, such as I never saw in the land of Egypt for badness. So now you got the example of seven. bad cows coming out of the out of this river that are in bad shape. And the lean and the ill-favored kind did eat eat up the first seven fat kind. And when they had eaten them up it could be known, could not be known that they had eaten them. They were still ill-favored, and as at the beginning, so I awoke. And I saw in my dream, and behold, seven ears came up in one stock, full and good. And behold, or look, seven ears withered and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them. So you've got, you know, the fat cow, the unhealthy cow. You got the healthy ear coin, and then you have the unhealthy, the the shriveling up one. And and the thin ears devoured the seven good ears. And I told this unto the magicians, but there was none that could declare it to me. And Joseph said unto the Pharaoh, the dream of Pharaoh is one. God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do. Sit up straight, Pharaoh. Here it comes. The seven good kind are The the dream is one. And the seventh in or the and the ill-favored kind that has come up after them are seven years and seven empty years, blasted with the east wind, shall be seven years of famine. Seven good years, seven years of famine. That's what he's interpreting. This thing, the Lord, this that this is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh, what God is about to showeth unto Pharaoh. So so again, he invokes God as the person that is or God himself is going to interpret. And then he goes on to say, and there there the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of Of the famine following shall be very grievous. So those that those famine years are going to be pretty tough times. So and he says, For that the dream was doubled in unto Pharaoh twice. It is because this thing is established by God, and God will short shortly bring it to pass. But therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise and set him over the land of Egypt. So You better go find somebody that's going to be smart, wise, and discreet that can can can help you manage this situation. So let Pharaoh do this and let him appoint officers of the land and take up a fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plentiful years. So he's giving them a solution, this is God. And let them gather all the food of the good years that have come and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep the food. in the cities and the food shall be for store in the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt. And the land perish not through the famine. So if you do this, you're not gonna be you're not gonna be dealing with fam famine. Mm-hmm. And the thing that was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, verse 37, and in the eyes of all of his servants, and Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is a man in whom the Spirit of God is? And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, For as much as God hath shown thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art, or you art. Thou or you shall be over my house, and according unto the word shall all my people be ruled. Only in the throne throne will I be greater than you or thou. So you're gonna be second in command. That's what he's telling him. And Pharaoh said, See, I have set thee over the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring and on his hand, and he put it on Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in the vesters of fine linen, and put a gold chain around his neck. And he made him ride into the second chariot which he had, and they cried before and bowed and kneeled, and many or made him ruler over the land of Egypt. Pharaoh said to Joseph, unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in the end in the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zeph Zephana Panini and He gave him a wife, Asania, the daughter of Potiphar, the priest of on. I wonder if it's the same one that in the sages they talked about the girl that was in his house that told Potiphar that he wasn't lying. Maybe it was him. We'll we'll see. And Joseph was thirty years when he stood before the Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of the Pharaoh and went up through all the land of Egypt. You can go check it out. And in The seven plentiful years of earth brought forth by the hand fruits, and he gathered up the flood of the seven years which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities, that the food of every field was round about every city, laid he up in the same forty-nine. And Joseph gathered corn and in the sands of the seas for very much until left numbering it was. without a number. So basically he gathered so much corn he couldn't even number it. And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of the famine, which Asanath, the daughter of Potiphar, priest of on, bare him unto him. And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh, for God had said he made a made me forget about all or for made me forget All my toil and all my father's house. The name of the second he called Ephraim, for God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. So he's recognizing, even though he's gone through tough times, that he's being favored. And the seventh year of plentiness plentifulness that was in the land of Egypt where it ended. And fifty-four is now the we're gonna talk about the famine. The seven years of dearth or death. came or became to come according to Joseph, and he said unto the earth, He in all the lands, but in the lands of Egypt were was bread. And all when all the land of Egypt was famished, people cried to Pharaoh for the bread. And Pharaoh said unto the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph, what do what he saith doeth, or basic basically what he says to do, do it. And the famine was all over the face of the earth, and Joseph upon all the store on all the storehouses and sold unto the Egyptians and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt. And all the countries came to Egypt to Joseph to buy corn because the famine was sore, or very bad, sore being bad in the lands. So as we look at this we see Joseph's being put in charge. We see that he talks about the land of of of the good times And then he talks about the famine. And I think it's I think it's interesting as we read this. How he's interpreting the dream and how God is using it, but he's not, he's making sure he tells it. I didn't do it, God did it. It's similar to when you you give a blessing that God's blessed you and you bless somebody. We try to do that here in the ministry with you know, orphans and and the sick, the poor, the widows. We try to help where we can. Certainly we can't do it all. we had a little, little, little child had a Big fever this morning over in Pakistan and we were able to get a little bit of a food. He doesn't have a mom and he doesn't have a father. They left him. and we were able to maybe help and give a little physical blessing. and obviously continue to pray for this child. But that's just an example. But I always caveat, you have to give God the glory because it's not me. I can't do what I do if it was is isn't for God. So I give God the glory. That's why love this story. I love it because what is Joseph doing? He's giving God the glory. All right. Let's get into some of the midrash just to give you a little background. remember the Bible is the truth, it is what we use as our authority. Not the midrash, not the Tanakh, not the Torah, not the Mishnah. Not the Kabbalah, not the Halaha laws, none of that is superior to the scriptures. Just so you know. So let's get screwed in here. So Joseph he spent twelve painful years in prison. So we find out how long he was in prison. He did not know if he had been a free man, but Hashem or God, they use the word Hashem because of the piousness they feel that they are. they don't want to be abomination to God's name and say it wrong. And they're so they changed the word to Hashem. And in that's just an example of what they do. And you will not be detained in captivity even one moment longer. That is decree by me. Your prison years atone for your aggressions. So you were imprisoned ten years to atone the slandering of your ten brothers. And you had to spend two additional years in the dungeon and punishment for having said that to the chief butler, Remember me, and mention the Pharaoh two years for two wrong words. At the same time, again, this is their interpretation, the Jewish perspective, from this specific Rebbe or Rabbi. That the same year, Yosef Yosef, or Joseph's last two years in prison, were a blessing in disguise for He had the butler mention him to Pharaoh two years earlier. What would Yosef's fate have been? So if he'd had been mentioned to Pharaoh two years ahead of that, what would the fate be of Joseph today? So he gives a he gives a hypothetical saying, you know, God had a plan. He made him made him two more years stay in prison. And he used him he's using him in a mighty way. So Pharaoh had freed him, Yosef At the most, would have been a professional dream interpreter, and thus earned enough money to make a living. But now, two years later, the king's strange dream, what happens to Joseph? As the result of his interpretation, he was swept to power, becoming Egyptian viceroy. And for two consecutive years, Pharaoh had strange dreams every night, but could not recall them when he awoke, when the when The time arrived for Yosef to be freed, Pharaoh woke up in the morning and clearly remembered his dream. That night, Pharaoh, Pharaoh's dream was the night of Roshahana. So that is, I want to say, the new year, right? Is that the new year? Yeah, I think it is. and when Hashem or God determined the fate of the entire world decrees of famine or surplus to the country, Pharaoh dreamed that. He was standing on the edge of the Nile and he saw seven fat cl cows climb out of the river and graze in the field. Following this, another seven cows emerged, but they were thinner and more amass or they looked pretty pretty bad and than he'd ever seen. It was the worst he'd ever seen or seen a cow, and it was in his dream. So the seven thin cows devoured the seven fat cows and and But remained as haggard as they had been previously. So Pharaoh awoke, he fell he fell asleep in the second dream, seven plump years of grain was out of one stock, and they swallowed up the seven thin and wind beaten ears. Pharaoh subsequent sub subsequently dreamed, sorry, the interpretation of the dream, but was unable to recall it. Pharaoh woke up. was very disturbed because he could not remember the meaning of the dream. He didn't know what it meant. He summoned his magicians, his sooth says, and he demanded an explanation. And we already know they did they what they didn't they weren't able to answer it. And all explained, Your Majesty, there's nothing obvious as in the interpretation of your dream. What is this? asked Pharaoh. The first magician offered and followed the interpretation the seven fat cows represent seven daughters who will be born to you. The fact that the seven thin swallowed up the symbol that they will die during your lifetimes. That was the first one. Pharaoh was not satisfied. Another interpreter said, Seven good years stand for seven kingdoms that you will conquer. Their fate in their hands of seven years, seven thin years indicated that they would rebel against you. That was another one. The king was not content, and he it did not seem that it would the interpretation was that of the dream. He proclaimed, Let it be. Known all to all of Egypt, anyone who possesses the ability to interpret this dream must be before me. Anyone who shrinks the obligation will be put to death. But whoever reveals me the correct meaning will be richly rewarded. So hundreds of Egyptian astrologists and magicians streamed to the palace, offering their wisdom to the king. They presented a host of different interpretations, but none of the explanations satisfied Pharaoh. Why was no one able to think of the true interpretation? Well, God had court or he had the wisdom of all magicians and the authority in the astrologers in the kingdom in the order of Joseph should be one of the off to offer the correct ek explanation. So basically God's gonna be the one using Joseph to do this. This is the reason nobody can answer this except the plan is for Joseph to interpret the dream at the beginning. And essentially the magicians would have would then have claims. So basically as Pharaoh only given a chance would have said the exact same thing. But now the wisdom the it says the wisdom of Egypt was exhausted. There's nobody else else out there. The riddle had dream was unsolved. But God or finally God caused the chief father to remember Joseph. Kind of jiggled his little brain a bit. Nevertheless, this ungrateful Egyptian decided to conceal to Pharaoh his knowledge of Joseph or Joseph's ability. It was only when he witnessed Pharaoh's relentlessness was bordering in the insanity that the decision for his own benefit to mention, Joseph. So he's going to mention him now because it's going to give him favor with Pharaoh. He reasoned that if Pharaoh dies. Or he gets disposed to a new king replacement. I cannot be sure that I will retain my position as a world butler. So he was doing it as an Egyptian for self-gain. It would therefore be my own advantage to mention Joseph in order to restore Pharaoh's peace of mind. The chief butler then sent the following message to Pharaoh: I sinned against two people, one man named Joseph, whom I owe great or debt of gratitude. Yet When he asked me to mention his name, I failed to do so. The others other is to you I withheld about someone who knows how to interpret the dream. Once Pharaoh became angry with me, the chief brother also at the chief baker and placed us both in jail. One night each our us had a dream and neither of us understood the meaning. There was, however, a man who was in prison with us who interpreted the dreams correctly. He was he he was he was young and the young butler thought I had better stress the point to prevent Pharaoh from appointing him to a high priest. And then we learn A slave of Pharaoh knows the law, is only a free man. make become king and so they're saying he could be free if he's a king. And from the despicable family of the Hebrews who s who who eat the sheep which we worship and whom we therefore not even tolerate at our tables. Let us appoint the high positions. Whenever Yosef So, whenever Joseph in regard to the dream was true. In fact, the dream of the chief butler and the chief baker came true, and the result of Joseph's words was a fulfillment of the dreams and depended on the the way it was. So the interpretation comes from Rabbi Elaiazar, and a woman once came and asked him to interpret her dream. She related it to him in my dream. I also saw A ceiling of a house in a cave. This means that the rabbi interpreted that you will give birth to a male child. the rabbi interpreted the cracking of the ceiling and the symbols and the pangs of birth, which are more severe than the case of the male or than a female. So the birthing pains for a male is more than a female, is what this rabbi is saying. Another time the woman came and found the meaning of the dream. When she looked at the rabbi in the Babadrash and could not find him, which is the temple. Where is your rabbi? And she asked the students, He is not here. Tell us your dream and we'll interpret it for you. The students suggested, Again, the dream I saw, or that I saw my ceiling caved in. This means that you will bury your husband, they told him. At last she moaned. When the rabbi returned, she she still Heard the whales, who was that, what happened there? And inquired to the woman who consulted about the dream and answered it was his students, What was the dream? And she told him the dream and the to the rabbi. And the rabbi said, They repeated to him what they had said, You made her lose her husband, says the rabbi thundered. Don't you know that the dream outcomes depend on the way it is explained? It is the said it says in the Torah that the dreams of the chief butler and the chief baker were fulfilled as Joseph explained them that they were true because Joseph has interpreted in that manner. So he's giving you a a kind of a jurism of that whole situation. So, you know, again the terminology with the sages One sixth of the prophecy, it contains the lowest degree of prophecy. the king messengers was rushed to the prison. Joseph was captured, brought him in. And Joe, that was just a little object lesson with that lady and that rabbi talking about. His point to that is it's how you explain it is how it comes true. So he becomes the king splendor, gets all the luxury, A nobleman who had an audience with the king was allowed to ascend 31 steps, and the king descended 36 steps to meet him. I guess it's a way you reach you approach the king. a commoner was only allowed to walk up to the third step. So there is they had rules for everything. And Joseph ascended to the three steps. The king said, I had a dream, and no one's able to interpret. So he talks about that dream again. far from the conceited at the fact that Pharaoh had called him specially, considers him an expert in the field of interpretation. So he interprets this dream. he interprets this through the Ruach the Ruach Hak Hakadesh, which is the Holy Spirit. What that is. And he explains it. And God has given this message through Joseph to Pharaoh. And so after he explains that dream, he advises him exactly what needed to be done, and Pharaoh was pleased. And then it goes on to say that he was appointed over all of the Egypt. let's see if there's anything We're a never reveal. Since you're able to control all the Egyptians fall to the knees and called, Long live the king. So Joseph's being called a king. And then all the Egyptian girls and women, including the noble rank, stood on the walls and rooftops and threw their jewelry and carriage to the king and the new protege, hoping to elicit a look from him. But Joseph, Zedek. Would not glance at any of them. So Joseph ends up marrying let's see if this is the same lady. Egypt grumbled the slave became the lord over us in the appease. Pharaoh gave Yosef or Joseph Potiphar's daughter, Esnes as a wife. So that is the lady that told Fer Potiphar she he raised her as his own. And told Potiphar that his wife was the one that was sinning. And again, I just told you she wasn't part of the family she was taken in. The reward had refrained from sinning from our child. So since he did not engage in the forbidden relationship with Potiphar, he was compensated from God by receiving her daughter as a legal marriage is what they're saying. These are the rabbis. Osnis bore had two sons in in years before the famine. he named one of those Manisha, which means he caused to forget the Torah learning. Manesha, derived from Nashina, made me forget. So that's the words have meanings in the Bible, folks. And then Ephraim was related to fruitfulness. the seven years of plenty, we talked about that. the difference between how he did that and what was planned. Again, God was behind it. Joseph, he Had a plan, God gave it to him. I mean essentially He essentially saves Egypt and a lot of the lands around. But that is somewhat from the sage standpoint, nothing earth shattering. All right, so let's jump into it. So from the introduction, we see the sovereignty of the chapter. it's a study about God's power. This chapter is talking about who's really in charge. It's God. God is definitely the one who has the power. And the to do to to handle all these vents and he works them all out for the sake of his servant and his people, as he will with us. Even though we have a finite mind, we can't see what he sees. I mean, we just can't. So where you think, and there's a lot of these intellectuals that are dishonest, intellectually dishonest, think they figured it out and they'll say, you know what, there's no God, there is no nothing, it's easier to say that. That's the easy way of getting on. Once you do your homework and study and and open up your mind to be a lifelong learner and look at the things around you instead of just chalk it up because your buddies slap you on the back, give you a beer, and then you all say, Yeah, there's no God and everybody likes each other. So that's what I see. I just see mono to mono, man to man. That's what they do. So the power of God is in the sovereignty and the power strengthens and troubles in in a man when we're in trouble. And we have a situation. So God's power strengthens Joseph, right? In the prison for two more years. That's important because think about it. I think of like Hezekiah. Remember when Isaiah came to him and said that prepare your house, that you're gonna die. And he went in and he prayed and he got asked God to give him more life, and he got another 12 or 14 years. What's the significance to that? The lineage of Christ still came through Hezekiah. Had he died, it wouldn't have not come through Hezekiah. If I'm sure God would had another way. But that was a significance with that extra years, he was able to bring a lineage of Christ through his His family. So when they reference the two years, God's letting you know that he he's got a plan. God not only used the power to strengthen his servant, but he used the power to disturb a man, Pharaoh himself. So he lifts up Joseph, but he disturbs and makes Pharaoh uneasy and couldn't rest because of these dreams. Look at the story this morning I was having with my wife about dreams. I gotta tell you, she could write she could write a movie and it was amazing. I mean, she's got such a memory of the dreams and the dreams that she has, almost down to the detail. It's amazing. she I guess she has that gift. But God not only used his power to strengthen sermon, but it also to get the attention of Pharaoh. The other thing, God startled Pharaoh and he woke him up. This suggests that he disturbed him again. And keep in mind that God was behind the whole scene. See We have to keep in mind, folks, God is in control and He's in the background. That's the important thing. And let's think about this thought. God will strengthen and help us if we will simply do what Joseph did. What did he do, folks? He trusted God, right? He trusted God, and God called upon him and for help. And not only did God also took power to disturb us, just as he did Pharaoh. God has the power to cause the uneasiness and the confusion, a conviction within our souls. Folks, I gotta tell you, sometimes if you're struggling with something, that's the Holy Spirit telling you that's something wrong. There's something going on. And you need to get you get in front of God and and you need to ask him what he's trying to show you. I know that I can be convicted. If I if I do something that I know that's not honoring to God, it convicts me. And I was having a conversation the other night. It said You know, boy, I'll tell you what, I've just I've just feel convicted over something that happened 30 years ago. But that is the way we settle that. And God brought it to my attention. And God will always meet our needs. We have to we have to keep that in mind, no matter what it is. And the power of God and his sorrow, the ignorance, I think of God has the power to make men ineffective. So not just He can lift you up, but He can make you. a base. He can make you ineffective in what you're doing. So it's not surprising that the wise men couldn't interpret that dream. It wasn't surprising. God didn't let him interpret it. So when we think about the power to make men effective, the power to even block their mind from solving the simplest problems. God has the power to make them fail, to keep them from seeing what they really need is and what the answer is in the world. and what the meeting is needed. So basically, what is the real need and what is the answer to the meaning of the need? God has the power, right? God has the power to make men ineffective. And he has the power to work things out for the greater good of his people in this world. The other thought would be wisdom and power. So God, wisdom and power of God is unlimited, folks. He says it in Matthew, with God it is impossible. With man it's impossible. and are limited in helping. So just you gotta note that there's ignorance of man is a fact of life. Now I will say that to people that disagree with me about the Bible not being a historical legit legitimate document. It's too overwhelming. That might have worked in the fifties. It's not gonna work in twenty twenty six. Folks, it's too much information out there. So, so again, you know, like Job said, for we are but of yesterday, right? And we know nothing, because our days are upon the earth, our shadow. Job said, So foolish was I and ignorant. I was the beast before thee. That's King David. So note the wisdom and power. Let me give you example. Because of thy foolish or the foolishness of God is wiser than man. You ever heard that? The foolishness of men. And the weakness of God is stronger than men and riches. I do not care how many multi-billionaires there are on the planet and how many people you know they got their riches or whatever and they put their faith and hope into their riches and they put their hope into this world. That is a false pretense. I would say that that is not where you need to be and that's not where we need and people say, Well whatever you say, I don't care. I I've got this, I got that, I can do this, I can do that. You know. What did Solomon say? He did it all when he wasn't satisfied. The end of the chapter was he say, you know, regardless. Go to God. So power of God in the memory. God has the power to make men remember. And he has as he stirred this butler, right? Made him think about it. That happens. So God's the person who stirred the memory of the cupbearer. To remember Joseph in the prison. God consider the work within the hearts of people to remember us and to help us, and despite of our circumstances, when we need help. So it works both ways. So the power of the of God's deliverance would be he delivered his servant. God took Joseph and delivered him, but note what he did. He needed to help others. So this point of this. This note is critical and important for all of us. They tell us why God delivered through the trials and the circumstances of life. circumstance. He raised him up as a leader. God delivered Joseph, right? He delivers Joseph. In the very moment and acno people. So note this that God has the power to deliver Joseph and He has the power to deliver us. If He's going to do it to Joseph, it's an example of what he could do for us. That is the opportunity and the thing we need to understand. circumstances. We may need to suffer a little bit and through our trials for a while in order to make us a better person or more diligent. What is God trying to show me through this trial? needed. This morning, the child was sick, needed some medicine and food, has no mom, has no dad, doesn't have anything, and God used me to help in that situation. And these are people that I have a relationship with. So it's not like I come out of the blue and I'm you know I do this. So God delivers us so that we can acknowledge him. And bear a strong witness for him. And I love what Joseph did. He definitely did it. And I think it's important for us not to forget what God has done for you. There's always something to be thankful for. But it more more importantly, if you ask for something and it's given to you, you should acknowledge him. God delivers us so we can focus upon others and help and listen in their troubled needs. As a chaplain, I deal with that a lot. I help be used as an instrument to help people that are distracted. And walk alongside of them. And God delivers us because men of this world are inadequate to meet the needs of the people. So those are five reasons why we know that God can use us in a great way. So let's look at the power of God in the insightful and in the spiritual, right? God has the power to give his servants the understanding and insight. Joseph was given the power to see the terrible that was coming on earth. No doubt. Joseph has been praying all the time. I have no doubt he was praying. understand the insight to his servants and his followers. God will help and understand and prepare for the future. But scripture reveals three things that are necessary to gain that spiritual understanding and insight. Number one, living in God's Word, living and obeying the Word. Are you obedient? That's so important. You even read your Bible to know what you need to be obedient on. Two, praying and seeking God's face and living in the spirit of prayer. Always praying without ceasing, as Philip Philippians tells us, Paul tells us there. Trusting God will give us understanding and insight through precious Holy Spirit. That Holy Spirit should be indwelling in you, folks. And that's going to help you. And as you pray for things, God's going to illuminate those things through the Holy Spirit. And a lot of times we quench it. Lot of times we bat it down and we don't we're not open to that. Now I'm not telling you to stand there and you know somebody flips through a Bible and hits a verse. This is the verse of the day. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that if you are open to God's will and the Holy Spirit that's indwelling in you and you have that relationship, the food's gonna taste better, you're gonna sleep better. That's what I'm gonna tell you from my experience. Okay. The other thought that the power to equip this to speak through us. As we try to help others, God used Joseph and God spoke through Joseph to to to answer these questions that were coming up with this Pharaoh. And we may feel what we have to say is worthless and that it just can't help and can't be used. but belonging to God, we're truly followers of his word. He will help us, he will give us understanding and wisdom to speak in it through us, thus or this. we must never fear to speak up to help people. Are you helping people that are in need? You know somebody that's in need right now and you're not helping. We're to speak up and help them. God will see to it that we will be able to help them. And if we only make ourselves available, are you available for God to speak to you in the Holy Spirit? The commission, God God's power to use his servant, took Joseph and exalted him into chief, into the chief. And he became and used him in a great mighty way. God has the power to use his servants and he will. So in Joseph's case, it will serve God and men by saving Egypt, and then who else he saved? Israel. So From the utter devastation he was able to save these these two countries. the power of God needs up needs and personnel. So what do I mean? What am I saying? God has the power to meet somebody's personal needs, okay? of his people. Food, water. I mean, I'm not talking about a Lamborghini in the yard. He doesn't, he's not gonna give you that. What needs? And he could do it. He did it with Joseph, and he did it in an abundant way. The wisdom and ability. God has the power to make his servants wise and competent. And he used Joseph. We saw it all through this. So God has the power to make the wise and the competent. And he has the power to equip us that we can carry out the work that to the fullest. God can make God can give the gift us to us. To do the job and tasks in our lives. God can help us with that if we ask. We gotta be open, right? God has the power to bless his servants' personal life. He blessed him not only by giving him a wife, he gave him two children, right? He was blessed. Ephraim, which means double fruit, I told you earlier. and then Manassas means forgot. Basically, the meaning there is Ephraim's forgot, he had for been forgotten in prison. God has the power to bless us, not only just the personal life, but he can pour the blessings out on us. And he will if we only commit our lives to him. If you're living a true life in in Christ, I'm not saying it's gonna be ro all roses, but you'll you're in a much better place with God on your side. With him, he can do it. You could you could do anything with him. So the needy, the poverty, the hungry, the economy, Collapsing. we learn that that whole region economically was going to collapse because of this famine. And God used Joseph to meet all these needs. God has the power to meet the needs of his servants. The believers on earth, both ministers and laymen alike. Layman is anybody that's not in a, I would say, in a an official position. so there's two lessons here. We must commit our lives totally to the Lord. And we need to follow him. We need to surrender. Are you surrendering today? If we are suffering a trial in severe circumstances, God is able to make us meet our needs and go through and help us as his servants. So we have to call on him, we have to be open to them, we have to be able to look beyond ourselves and realize that God is on our side. so That's forty-one. We're gonna get into forty-two our next time. We are getting closer to finishing Genesis. I hope it's been a blessing to you. and I think there's fifty, one or two. Let's see. The other thing I wanted to point out, I made a comment on one of my videos. And I wanna c it's fifty, fifty chapters. So I made a comment on one of my my Podcast, I said something on that James in the Bible was named after King James because he wanted him in there. I went back and did some research. I was given wrong information from a rabbi that we must know the Bishop Bible, Whycliffe, the Matthews, all before the King James was even thought of, listed him as James. So it wasn't about King James. When King James brought all the scholars together to put the King James Version together. this rabbi made the comment that J this king wanted his name in there. That's why James was removed and and or yeah or the Jacob was removed and James was put in there to reference the king. I made a bo I made a bad call there. I listened to what I was told from a rabbi. it might have been a podcast but I went back and researched it. There's several Bibles that were produced before King James Bible. even before he was in office. And remember, he wasn't a Catholic, right? All right, so that is chapter 41. I hope it's a blessing. I hope it is something that'll help you. These stories through the this the the the the book of Genesis are helpful in our everyday life. Take care chaplain Dean Alley bye
