Dr Dean Alley PhD: All right. Good morning. Chaplain Dean Allen here. I had a moment. So I gave you chapter one. We kind of worked through that. I want to kind of continue the theme of working through the Bible here a little bit. So I'm gonna jump into chapter two So basically, what are we doing we talked about the creation, we talked about the creation of time, we talked about I mentioned maybe I maybe I did or maybe I didn't. The dispensation is a period of time which man is tested, respected, or respect to the obedience of some of the revelations in the will of God. So each dispensation or period of time, and if you literally look up the Greek for dispensation, I believe. It says stewards. So as a steward in this dispensational period, this is what we're talking about in the beginning where God created. He he he talks about the concept supplied. It's a deposit of divine revelation. we can see it as man stewardship and divine revelation. So God's showing us something and a period of time, or as called as an age. So I I point those out just to kind of bring you into where we are. and I said last time the seven dispensations. So the importance of knowing context. Okay, how important is knowing the context? Well, you gotta know who's writing it, where is he writing it, when is he writing it, why is he writing it, how is he writing it, who's affected, what's the culture? You gotta answer those questions. And those are the basic studies of Bible study. That's the basics of understanding the Bible. And we read Genesis, Genesis, which means the beginning, is the beginning of what God wanted us to know. Okay. I'm not gonna sit here and give you a geological class on how old the earth is and all that. That's for you to decide. it really doesn't matter to me at this point. I mean, you know, I know exactly what he wants me to know. He shows it to me here. so we know Moses writes it. We know this is in the beginning and Sorry about that, little Coca-Cola. First dispensation is the innocence. And we know that he creates all these things. So I'm gonna pick it up in chapter two. And I'm just gonna skip down to because it talks about thus the heavens and the earth were finished. Okay, what was finished? The heavens plural and the earth were finished. So we know there's more than one heaven. talked about through the Bible. I would say the bird level, the heaven heaven, and then or or the space heaven and then heaven with the divine. So let me just pick it up here and go through. So these are the generations of the heavens of the earth when I'm I'm in two four by the way. created in the day of the Lord or day that the Lord God made up made the earth. in the heavens and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. For Lord the Lord God had caused to it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. So there's nobody to take care of the the the plant life. Okay, so You know, this this type this this part of Genesis, we know this is where Adam, the beginning of mankind. we know that God and he's part of God godly seed, right? The seed of God. And then what happens to man and to the earth we learn in this piece. So when we look at verse four, the Lord created the universe in the heavens. and the earth and then when we get into the next part of that the lord himself he created what the universe right that's what it says and or that's part of the heavens is the universe and then lord created the earth and the heavens and he did it in stages you hear me say it all the time god's a god of order he's not a god of of just willy-nilly and You know, jump up and down and scream, yell and all this other stuff and be out of control. That's not God. So And but there was a mist there but there was there went up a mist from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. So the water came up and missed it to keep everything going, you know, alive. You don't water the plant, it's gonna die. It's gotta have sun, it's gotta have some of that That's sunlight and everything, and it's gotta have water to survive. And God took care of that. And so before the shrubs and the plants, right? So before the fields and the plants, and then we know before the rain and before man. So these these are things that were created in the heaven and in the earth. So we also know that at the first the the day was encircled with heavy mist and dense fog and thick clouds. I think of like Seattle or Maine or something like that. It has a lot of lot of a lot of mist and a lot of fog and things on that line. So So when I think about that that that whole piece and when we look at you know from four The Lord God created the heavens and the earths, we know, and the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created. So we have that understanding. And the Toldoth is the Hebrew word that means generation, story, or history that gives us the account. And this is a true account of how the earth and the heavens became or came to be. And this true account is a brief review. the origin of the prehistoric earth. I I mentioned the gap theory on my previous videos. this is a brief review from this ch from from Genesis, but you gotta note the words and how it's stressed to he or they were created. that that's words matter, right? Words definitely matter and I think sometimes we get We forget these things or we are not as mindful as we should be, but the earth didn't just come onto being of itself. So that throws away your big boom explosion that the world came to be. You know, I was listening to a guy was talking about the brain, mitochondria, and he was talking about the brain, and he was a I guess a brain surgeon or whatever, and he was basically saying, How can you not believe in a God that created something so complex evolution. So you have to be able to believe in that. And the other thing I would say is you hear me talk about the Bible all the time. I was listening there's a good I forget the name of the guy. Can't think of name the guy, but I've been reading and watching and listening to the evidence of God and the creation. I forget the guy's name, but he was talking about the Bible itself. He was saying that a good book written might get a million copies sold. He's saying that the Bible has upwards to 30 billion sold, maybe more. Now Those are just through some empirical information and data that he basically put together. And he's he's doing a complete breakout. and he's talking about yes. So he was talking about how the Bible had sold upwards to thirty billion or plus, and talked about how Think about that. That the Bible has been around is the only cell only Bible that has stood the length of time and yet people still don't want to believe it. They don't want to put any thought into it. They don't want to believe that what's in it, they wanna say it's a fairy tale. Who makes you the authority on a Bible that's been written and and developed in in It's so detailed. It's unfolding. Genesis to Revelations, it's unfolding you know, talking about Jesus in many aspects of the Bible and through the Old Testament pointing to the New Testament and talking about the you know, you talk about rapture, tribulation, all those things all comes to a free you can know with confidence that things are gonna happen. Now you could dispel that and I I see that a lot, but I would say this folks that you know you sell up towards 30 billion copies and it's still the number one selling book in in in all time or all the world. That's not by accident. And I think that that is one of the things that people need to understand. So as he created the universe, as we can see, the heavens and earth did not just happen, right? It's not by chance, by some random happening, t as the intellectuals would like to say, and they're dishonest about that, by the way. by something, some force or matter. or some gas or energy or appearing out of nothing. So that's in my opinion is not a a truism and that is not a statement. A true so we know that in 2-4 when he says all all these all are all the generations and he's having that conversation and he's saying you know God the names of Joe Jehovah Yahweh the creation the Lord himself made the universe and The note on how note the name used for God in these verses. Jehovah Elohim. the name of God changes or rather enlarges in chapter two and it says God is Elohim. Elohim is combined with Lord. So they're they're part of the two, Jehovah and Yahweh. So they become one in name. and you know it's important. So re what do we find that This reveals for us that it is because Jehovah is a personal name of God, the revealing and redemption name of God is revealed himself to man. So he reveals himself to us and establishes a person wants to establish that personal relationship with man, and he can he into redeem man from his fall from our mistakes into sin and death. So it's a foundation. And you have to have a foundation when you're establishing a belief system, and you gotta have that faith and belief. And I find that what follows is early history of man upon the earth, and then we know the early history it explains the revolution or excuse me, the relationship between God and man. Okay, so what happened to man in his world? Well, we know how man became a alienated and cut off from God. Why? Because of sin. And how did God go about redeeming man from the terrible plunge into the sin and the death? You know, I would say this, I was reading John Nelson Darby's Bible, and he doesn't use Adam, he uses man. I wanna say later in the chapters he does identify Adam. But anyways. So let's let's keep on going here. So God forms man and prepares it for for Eden, right? So and the Lord formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into Roach, Roach is breathed into the nostrils and breathed of life. So the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and then we know that he breathed into the nostrils. the breath of life and man became what? Living soul. Okay, so three parts body, soul, and spirit. Excuse me. So it's important. and the Lord and the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden. And there he put man put the man whom he had formed in the east part of the of the garden, and out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree every true tree that is pleasant to the sight. And it was good for food. And the tree of life in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. So you had these two trees, the good and evil, then it had the tree of life. You're gonna see the good, the tree of life in Revelations. That'll be the last time you won't see it after the fall here, but it'll it'll be in Revelations for us in the future. So in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good. And the river went out of Eden to the water gar water of the garden, and from thence in the it parted and became into four heads. Well, we know we're gonna talk about so mountains have streams, sometimes under the mountain the streams that come through, and there's this example of You know, as he says, it came came out of Yeah, the river Garni went up and to the go and it went out of Eden to water the garden. So it's watering the garden. the first river is called is is Pizan. that is the is it which compac compasses the whole land of Havilah. I would say that is most of our Ur Chalde and that area, Babylon. That's kind of the southern part of that tip. But anyways, it's it's southwest or south Yeah, it's south of Saudi Arabia and and Iraq and all of those things. modern day modern day modern day Iraq is Babylon. That's the word I was looking for. All right. So and gold that and the gold, verse 12, and the gold of that land is good. There is Bedellum and Oxstone. He's talking about some gems here. And the name of the second river is Gion. And the same is the compatness over the whole land of Ethiopia. So we're now in Ethiopia. Egypt, Africa, and then there was a third river is the Heidakal, that is it which goes towards the east, towards Assyria, and then the fourth is Euphrates, which we know. So the first even E the first or the Edic covenant. Is a test of what? Obedience. And the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to what? Dress it and keep it. Well, what is he going to dress? Well, dress it is working, working on the garden, doing and taking care of this is a test of obedience. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Every tree of garden of the garden you may eat as freely of. The tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And we know that is going to be used against Eve in the future. All right. So So we know that the very name of God describes his glorious character. We know that. The creation, as we talked about, Lord creates the heaven and the earth and the plants and the fields. let's see, then let's get into seven. The first man introduces and the Lord formed man out of the dust. and he creates the form of the dust, is exactly what scripture says, and God formed man is three significant facts that are being declared here. Number one, God and God alone formed man, right? God formed Yetser, which is man and which means formed. Let's see. And then It was the Lord God Jehovah that formed him, his personal name. And that tells us it's a thought that gives great dignity and honor to man. Man is a product of God's mind, his thought, his heart, and his creation. His very body, mind, you know, his mind and and the body and spirit came from the heart of God, right? What does God want? He wants a relationship. He allows us to live on this earth with believers and unbelievers alike. And he doesn't force anybody to believe on him. And that's because he loves you. Because he loves you so much he allows you to have that conver that conversation with yourself to say I'm either gonna believe or not, right? And We know that it's he says, My substance was not hid from you. When I made it secret, I cur and cur curiously brought abroad to the lower parts of the earth in the womb. It's in Psalms one thirty nine, five. And so the matter was despicable, right? man was of the dust of the ground. dust. And So we have something to be proud of, right? Nothing, absolutely nothing, absolutely nothing. For we were made nothing, and we're from the lowly parts of the dust. So we can we come from nothing, right? And it's important to understand that from dust we've come, and dust we shall what? Return. And before we know it, our bodies will be nothing more than a small cup of. dust lying somewhere on the ground. but scripture helps us and points us to this where we become the humblest we become from the humblest beginnings, right? And that's the point I'm trying to make here. The every person that's made is made of the same substance. You know, there is no person that's above another person. There's no person that is worth more than the other person. And there's no person that has the right to put anyone's on any one person down. You don't have that right. You know, in verse Two seven, God breathes his own breath into the life of man. Man is not just dust, it's a physical substance. Man is far more than just physical body, man is a spirit. And God has given man his very own breath. And you think about that. That's you know, we have our own breath. But so you picture Adam. You know, lying on the ground before God, he just formed, he's the in the dust of the earth, and Adam was lifeless and the body's just laying there on the ground, didn't have anything, and then God breathes into him, and all of a sudden, the descriptive terms, God leaned over and he breathed into him, and he started breathing on his own. Adam's nostrils and Adam received the breath of God, and when he did, as a result, was outstanding out outstand Astounding actually. he arose from the ground and became a living soul. Simply put. So there's no other creature on earth that's made like man. We know that. God gave no other creature breath. So We know that man becomes a living soul, right? And He tells them where he's gotta go. He's gotta go in the the garden. He's got to tend to it, right? Dress it is what he used. Right. So you look at And the Lord formed man from the dust of the ground, and the Lord planted a garden eastward to put the man into an and he that said, Out of the ground that the Lord God to grow every tree that's pleasant, he basically gives them that warning. And and the Lord commanded these saying, Every tree in the in the garden you can eat except, right? Except the tree of good and evil. And he gives them that warning. And obviously that didn't didn't hold true, right? So we find out what the purpose is, right? He puts him in there to work, to to to to creation. What was his purpose? We're to work. Even in heaven, we're gonna work, right? We're not gonna just sit around and we're not a bunch of floating spirits. All right, so Anyway, so Who who will choose to know God, to know the goodness and the grace of God? Who chooses that? Who will choose to serve? Who will choose to live with God with love, worship, and fellowship? Who's gonna do that? There's a lot of people that don't want to do that. God doesn't want to coerce you, right? He doesn't want a route robot, you know. He doesn't want somebody that's on the assembly line, he's he's programmed to do something. We didn't want that. this clearly is seen by looking at the nature of man and how it's revealed in verses. So men man is seen as a highly intelligent, physical, and strong. So he's responsible for what thinking, planning, and he is to cultivate. And that's in Genesis 15. And man is seen to have the ability to communicate with others, right? Man has the man is seen to have the needs and the drives that are met by the environment and by God. Man is seen to have the ability to will have a will and to choose on that will. a spiritual being. is another piece. These are nat attributes line. So verse 18 says God creates a wife for Adam, right? So number one, the purpose for Adam is what? Is labor, work, and employment. He's supposed to do something. That goes for today. A lot of people don't like to do that. All right. So he's to live with God, love him, worship him, fellowship with him, right? And then let's. Either to 18 I was reading, and basically the experience of desire, caring, and all of these things. And God said, It is not good that a man should be alone. I will make him a help meet, okay, for him. And out of the ground, the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every fowl of the air, and he brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them, and whatsoever Adam called. Every living creature that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all the cattle, the fowl of the air, and every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found and a help meet for him. And the Lord's Lord caused him to go to a deep sleep, right? And he slept. And God took over, and he took one of the ribs and closed the flesh and instead thereof. The rib which the god took and he had taken from man, he made woman and brought her unto man. And this is where I would say starts the constitution of or the institution of marriage, because Adam said, This is now bone bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called woman because she was taken out of man. And Therefore shall man a man leave his father and his mother shall she shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be one flesh. So we get the sense here, and that's verse 24. Let me finish up. And then verse 25, I just want to bring this up. So you're the men are supposed to cleave to their wives, and they are to be head of the household. And they were both naked and man and his wife were not ashamed. So here's the first chapter two, we see it where they weren't ashamed to be naked and create women or woman being created, creation meaning Eve, he creates her in his in in his own image. And men and women are to relate to each other and be intimate as well. For each other. And they need each other to survive. And they're distinct people. They're not the same people. Anybody that's been married for a long time knows that, right? We don't think We don't think like our wives and wives don't think like us. So woman was created because it was not good, right? For man to be alone. The phrase not good means incomplete or unfinished or unfulfilled. those are things that I think of. The problem afflicts the plagued man today is loneliness, emptiness, deficiencies, and incompleteness and unfulfillment. So men today that have those attributes, they're empty. They should have a help meet. And so God planned women to be a helper and a companion, suitable helper and companion. so corresponding to the adapting to and agreeing with. so she was created as a suitable helper and created to fit the helper for man. the nature of man was adapted, the correspondence of man and so forth. So we think about man and we think about the needs, man's need for women for companionship. Same way. The men needed as well. And Yeah, sorry, we got interrupted here. So man needs a woman just as well. Note the Bible switches from God's decision to create man. God shows man that he is superior to the animals because he basically we know that he'll name them and Man's authority over world is seen from the beginning and is known for history. So it it reveals a couple things. Man has used his authority for good and that he has made some progress in building it up. his his world through the medicine technology. So there's good good things that have been done. And then man has used his authority to depraved purposes, he's destroyed human life. nature, environment, the air, water and all the things. We we create some problems there. And man is superior over animals. And folks need to remember that. Woman or Eve creation was created was created by who? God. So woman's creation is a picture of closeness and companionship. And God wanted the husband and wife to live get live together and be a companion for each other. And you notice man, woman, man, woman. There's no other descriptive in there. Okay. So he's ordained marriage even from the beginning. He creates him out of the rib of Adam. And we know that women came out of the need of man's need. Why why was she put on this earth to help him? And to help him in a great way. And that is what he was there for she she was there for. The woman is to glorify man, first Corinthians eleven seventeen. when we think about marriage, man is a a woman, man and women are brought together by God, and it is Part of the New Testament talks clearly about the relationship between man and women. and we see it. So God creates man and women, he brought man and women together, and God establishes the marriage of law between the two. And the order of the relationship was created for man, created out of man, and was presented to man, those three things. And Not the manish names the woman of himself because he was taken out of his body, and that's how he came up with the the woman and or womb man. Womb out of the womb man. marriage is established as the very first institution on the earth, and we know this. it establishes the first society, it establishes the laws and marriage is established as the first institution, as they said. You're to leave your parents, you're to cleave to each other, you're to be one flesh, right? I would say this that man and women were what created perfect, innocent. They were naked, they didn't know they were naked. That's how innocent they were. Ever had a a a baby or anything, you change the diaper, they take off rundown, they don't know they're naked. And you start laughing. But you think about it back in chapter two, when he closes out, he says that they were not they didn't know they were naked. You know, not the man and women were naked, but they were not embarrassed or they were in shame. That comes later when we start to fall. Blessed is the your pure pure in heart, for they shall see God. That's Matthew 5.8. That ye may be blameless and harmless to the sons of God who without rebuke in the midst of the of the crooked, perverse nations among whom ye shine lights over. And that's in Philippians 2:15. So I close out with this. The note significant things about the family institutions, society, family. You know, what does it do? God establishes the first family, the first institution of of a society. we know that he later establishes worship or the tabernacle or the temple or the church and the governments. And then all institutions we know that to government when rules and laws were needed between families and tribes, you've heard me say it before. When they were coming out of Egypt, you know, and I heard stories up to six or seven million. Folks, I gotta be honest with you. I mean, you gotta have some kind of law and order, right? Or people are gonna run them up. So I think a lot of that, I think Moses was the first Supreme Court, and you can see it that way as well. So when we need fellowship with God, for instance, for s instruction for children came from the worship education needed, right? We need to learn. And the Bible was the you be used to instruct and to teach our children and to health care, the physical care of the family, and the family members arose. So when we think about just as I finish up the chapter two and I just talk about that, it is so important to understand the basics. Why am I bringing you from the beginning? Because it's important to know where you came from and what the purpose was, you know. And He put in the garden. He was to work. He was then to have a family. Then he was to you know, separate from, you know, all these other things that we learn about the family was all instituted by God. And it was done in the first two chapters.
