Dr. Dean Alley PhD: Alright, Chaplain Dean Alley here. I had a moment. I hope you're doing well. It's Thursday evening, a little later than I wanted to start, but things happen sometimes, right? That's okay. I'm excited to talk about chapter 27. To me, this really defines there's a couple big events in this. It's a it's a it's a large chapter. And I would say Forty forty six verses. So anyways. So when I think about where we've come from, we're talking about walking through Genesis. We just came out of twenty six and we had some conversations about the the covenant. we talked about how Jacob and Rebecca had fooled Isaac and taking the blessing away Typically, the firstborn would get the double portion in that culture. And it almost ties into what we see today. Usually the firstborn of any family, especially male, have added responsibilities, so therefore they get a double portion for the responsibilities of the family. That's the thinking. Not always the case, but that's the thinking behind the double portion. So we learned in chapter 26, which was profound because what happened? God had already selected Jacob to bring the seed of who? The Messiah through. And the goal bringing the Messiah through Jacob, and that was predetermined. So we know that Abraham dies, and typically we talked about in twenty six, Abraham dies 175 years old, and his son Jacob, he's in the kitchen, he's cooking. The culture in that time frame, a grandson could be doing the cooking to help the family that are gathering to mourn. Well, guess who didn't mourn? Guess who didn't show up? Said, now I'm out of here. That was Esau. He went hunting. He chose to get and go hunting. So He's almost showing a disdain for and he's supposed to be the leader, right? But he goes off and does his thing in a selfish way. So what happens? So we see that God basically Abraham, Isaac, and then he picks Jacob, and he goes right through and past Esau, and he chooses Jacob. Now people will say, Well, he you He fooled him. His his mom, Rebecca, had fooled the father, this is previous verse, and previous chapter, and he deceived him. Folks, let me stop you right there. What you're missing is God had already chose the person he was going to bring the seed through. And it was chosen through Jacob. So that whole firstborn. Is now shattered. What do I mean? So when we think about the lineage of Christ and from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, so forth, and we see that God has chosen Jacob to bring the seed. He has the ten tribes of Jacob, and the two grandsons, Manasseh and Ephem, are part of the twelve tribes in that time frame. Why is it important? So let's go to the New Testament, and we learn in the New Testament that we, the church, the believers on Christ, are grafted where? We're grafted into the seed of Abraham. You see where I'm going? So God can make that decision just like he did with Jacob and Isaac. Excuse me, Jacob and Esau, and he chose so you have what I call a f physical blessing, and then you have a spiritual blessing. And we are part of that spiritual blessing grafted into Abraham's seed, and it started in Genesis 26 and unraveled for us to see. Because historically, everybody just assumes firstborn, firstborn, firstborn. Isaac despised being firstborn, he hated. Being the firstborn. He didn't like the idea of being the spokesman for the family. He certainly didn't stick around when the funeral was going on and the mourning was going on, and the families were coming together to mourn. He decided to take off. And then he comes back and he really gives a phlegmatic response to Jacob when he says, I'm hungry, give me some stew, the red-potted stew, which Eatham. is or Esau is red. That's what the the meaning is. And I'm going to give you a deeper run on that on what that looks like and how that plays into the Middle East today with Palestine and i and Israel. I'll give you a great breakout of how that goes when I get through it. But the point I want to make is When Jacob said, Well, give me your birthright. He's What good is a birthright? I'm about to die. Okay. It's kind of like I gave you the conversation one day when my wife and I and my children were flying to Dallas, Fort Worth, Texas. We're on the plane getting ready to land. The the the the flaps come up, engines reverse, it gets loud, and my youngest yells, We're all gonna die. Well, folks. You would say that's an inappropriate time to say something, especially when you're on a plane, right? It's kinda funny now we look at it, but this is what Esau was doing. When he says, What's it matter? I'm gonna die. His father had just died. So, anyways, that's the point I'm making about the spiritual and physical. So, you as a Christian today in the church from Paul, we know, and he clearly calls it out, we are grafted into the seed of Abraham. I just showed you how we got there. That is how that goes, and and and we learn that the all powerful Savior that we serve, he gets to make that decision. He'd already made that before. the dishonesty and all the other stuff and that didn't give it it doesn't give credence or right to do what he did in in in the trickery. But make no mistake that was already settled. So not saying that's right, but it still was settled and God had already made that decision. So it's important that I want to point that out to you. So that was twenty six, that was big. I mean I if you're a Christian today and you want to know how you're grafted into the Abraham Abra Abraham seed into Israel into the future, you're gonna find that once the rapture takes place, we are going to I mean to we are going to oversee the Israel nations. Yes, you heard me say it right. According to the Bible, we will be judging angels, we'll be judging the Israelites as the bride of Christ. And the important thing behind this is to know. That is on the menu for what's going to happen in the future when we get to all of these situations that are unwinding. You know, the the other thing I would say is people always ask me all the time, does this mean what do you think? Is it the end times? Is it gonna be when is Christ? Well, first of all, I'm gonna give you the f straight up answer. I don't know. Not supposed to know. I'm gonna be on the receiving committee, not on the I'll be on the welcome community, not to receive, not to receive it, but I'm gonna be in a different place. So I'm not really gonna I don't know. And all I know is I tell you all the time to be ready. What does that mean? That means to continue in the faith. Well, what does that mean, chaplain? Well, that means read your Bible, that means pray, that means do all the things that God wants. Love God with your heart, mind, soul, and spirit, and your neighbor, right? Those are the commandments we see in the New Testament, the New Covenant. And I know this is going to upset some of the Messianic and the Orthodox Jewish. They're going to say all the oral laws and all the all the laws of Torah still apply today. I'm going to answer that with the Mosaic covenant and some of the laws that we do observe in the New Testament. If it pops up in the New Testament, if it's in the old, it pops in the new. That's something that we pay attention to. We are not held to it. He didn't he didn't come to abolish the law. He wasn't trying to abolish the law. He came and he fulfilled the law. And the key to that is that was to show the is the Israel Jewish people to understand that that is exactly what the role was for Jesus when he came back. When he when he basically went to the cross and all the things. So he was proving this to Israel and to the Jews that still didn't believe him. So as we jump in here, you know I like to talk about historical context. Why do I want to talk about historical context? Folks, if you don't know who's the Bible talking to, who's it talking about, what is it saying, if we don't know what's the host historicity of this chapter 27. In Genesis, if you don't have that context and that color, you're just reading to read. You're just reading to read. So I set the context and the historical site. So we know that I this will shatter some folks some people's thoughts too. Remember now, Jacob and Esau, they're seventy seven years old. They're not thirty years old when they're fighting over who's gonna get the birthright. Okay? All you gotta do is go back to chapter twenty five. Remember we covered that. They were older. They were not like thirty year old teenagers. They're almost 80. So, anyways, so the scene is the brekaha, which is the Hebrew word for transferring of wealth, status, and the clan authority, is not new. They call it the Bakor, the firstborn. That's the Hebrew word. Isaac favors Esau in in in these chapters, and he tries to bless him. with just a word already given through Rebecca. Rebecca and Jacob had already deceived him. Remember the goat stew. He told him to go make a stew. I I feel like I'm gonna die, type thing. That was this is previous chapters. And Esau's cold clothes, he wore them, he put on the ghost skins, he smelled like him, he spoke the blessings that cannot be recalled. It's a big deal when you have a patriarch as big as Isaac, right? And he announces the blessing to his son, that cannot be taken back. Let me give you an example. Why do I say that, Chaplain? Well, when Noah basically blessed his kids. He could not after he was remember when his son basically defiled him with the being naked and you had Shem, Hep and then can't think of the other one off the top of my head. But anyways, point being is he defiled by pulling the blankets off his dad was where he was but Remember, when they got on the ark, they were blessed. Alright. You cannot go back and unbless your kids if you've blessed them as a patriarch. This is what Noah did. This is why I'm giving you an example. So what did Noah do? Well, if we read Noah, which we hopefully will get to it, he puts the curse on his kids. He puts the curse of Canaan and on one of his sons his his his kids Canaan and that curse follows us through the rest of Genesis through the other chapters. But because he couldn't unbless his son in the previous chapter, and then the next chapter come out and take away the blessing and curse him, he can't do that. So instead he pronounces a curse on his family's firstborn. Canaan. So that's the reason why I throw out the fact that the blessing that was given to Jacob already could not come back. And there's a little bit of friction here. Rebecca loved Jacob and E and Isaac, he loved Esau because he was a great hunter, all these things, he's proud, you know, big, big, you know, big hunter. So after he gets Duped, if you will. And I think he uses what's the word he uses transgressed twice or something like that. But the spoken cannot be recalled. So Esau, the word is literally away from the fatness of the land. And I'll bring that up when we hit it, but I'm gonna I'm gonna show you something, and I had to go to a different version of a Bible, because the King James inaccurately does not disclose the truth of this verse that we talk about the fatness of the land and Edom, the highland, Seer, later it's named Udimia. And we know that remember I told you Seir, Mount Seir, that's where Seir comes from. From the time of where you'll find Edom or you'll find Esau And his clans. Remember, it's not just him and by himself. He has clans around him. Just like all the tribes of Israel had clans around them. So Mount S Mount Seir is where you'll find that's where he's going to camp and where he's going to lodge. And that's basically where Isaac basically tells him you'll be away from the fatness of the land. In other words, you're not going to be in the best part of the land. You're not gonna be in the plush area that Jacob's gonna be. He's gonna be in the promised land. And Edom, Edom is a higher ground. So they they had an advantage when they were fighting. That's another conversation. but Edom then he refused Israel's passage. So I'll talk more about that when we get to later parts of the the Torah. and how that happens with David and how David breaks the yoke under Jeroboam and or Jehorabam, I'm sorry. and later on When he moves west, or that's where he's gonna be sent. Hykiness, basically the Udumens, that'll be the change. So if you've ever looked at a Bible map in the back of a Bible, I mean, just each they give you different t time frames. Here it is in Edenton, I mean in the Garden Eden, here is in Abraham's time, here is in Isaac's time, here you have different maps showing different, and you see how the cities and the things and the all those things start moving around in different names. No different than what we would do today in in America. You would change a st street name or something like that. You go to the council and all that, make the change. Well these people would declare certain things. And in that time frame, it was what they possessed. So a lot he was he don't so we're gonna learn about Esau here in a minute. But he gets compared to Herod. Herod was what? Udeman. He was part of Esau's family. And what did Herod do when Jesus was born and before that? He was killing the firstborns. Right? He put that edict out and said to give so he was already and in almost in an east an Arab state. Going against Jesus Christ and Israel and all those folks and in and both Herod one and Herod II. And then after AD seventy, we will never hear another word about Edom. They'll be gone. Some would say, today's scholars, I would disagree, but some say Edom is Rome in the later rabbinic topology. So they would say that Rome now becomes Edom, Esau. The bad guys, the Arabs. Alright. That's the historical background in that first chapter. It might have been a little long, but it's important to have context for you to understand so you can learn. So the election, let's talk about the doctrine. Doctrine is the election stands between the works. We see in Genesis 25, all the way through Malachi and and and R and Romans. God chooses the line, the human schemes, and neither creates nor cancels it. So he chooses. The birthright in this doctrine is blessing all related but not identical. That's the key. Just because you're born first doesn't mean Jesus God's gonna bless you. Does that make that make sense? You're gonna get a physical blessing, yes, but the spiritual blessings are going be given just like Jacob has that decree of what God did. And it doesn't give a it doesn't bind The older, if you will. So Esau found no place of repentance for that blessing. He didn't repent. He was just a prideful guy. And he just he he he was part of that Arab nation. So when we look at the providence, but it doesn't excuse the sin, Jacob he receives what God had decreed. The lie was still sin and bore exile and fear. And the family fracture. So there was definitely some angst there. So you've got Israel, the Jacob, who does he become? Israel. And then you've got Esau, who becomes Edom, and he becomes part of the nations of Arabs. And I'll talk more about that later. So the older will serve the younger is a kingdom pattern, not a license to cheat. So he's not being slapped on the back for lion. So we shouldn't tempt God. That's the message there. How do you what do you w w what does that mean to us? Well we shouldn't tempt God. That's what that means. And that's what they were doing in this situation when they were trying to take it in their own hands and change the birthright. So After Rebecca overhears that conversation where Esau is really steaming now, he's lost his birthright and he's lost his blessing. Birthright blessing, and he's now mad. He says, I've been I've been supplanted. That was the word I was looking for earlier. Twice. So I'm just gonna kill him. I'll just kill him. And Rebecca hears that, fears for Jacob, and she sends him away and to her brother. We'll we'll we'll see that down the road. So Isaac doubts. initially it he he doubts that that was Jacob when he came in and gave him that that blessing. He he he was a little doubtful, but he he was hesitant. So the dew of heaven, the fatness of the earth, and the grain of the new wine, the people serve you, the nation they bow. That's just the titles that Jacob's gonna be getting. cursed or Curse to who cursed you, bless who blesses you. So the old adage you've heard me say, Why is America so blessed? Is because we bless Israel. We're commanded to in the Bible. When we get away from that, and that's where we're going today in today's culture, we are getting further away from God's plan with Is 'cause He's not done with Israel. Israel's gonna have that chance in the millennium to make that decision. that one last decision with the hundred and forty four and the two witnesses preaching. Now America is the largest best country in the world. Why is that we bless Israel? Okay. Young kids today they don't like it. They want to get on the old hippie trail. Let's pick on this, let's do this, let's stand for something, make sure we'll act like we're gonna create something and they're really destroying something. They're getting further and further away and in many cases they're b they're they're cursing. I got news for you. You're on the wrong side of history if you start cursing Israel. Now, what does that mean? I don't have to believe in the politics. Netany Hado or the or the the councils or their military, their actions, their their diplomats, their I don't have to agree with all that. I just have to bless Israel as a whole. Not its government, not its military, not its presidents, not its ministers, not any of So you gotta get past that. A lot of people don't want to. They want to just lump everybody in to that situation. So again It's all about the curses and blessings. And when Esau returns and finds out, you even see Isaac starts trembling a little bit when he finds that out. So 39, and we'll talk about that. I'm gonna go through and I'm gonna read. Let me go ahead and read these verses to you. We're gonna go right through these verses and read them. And I'll pause and make a comment on it, and hopefully this will be a blessing to you. So we will start with Chapter twenty seven verse one and the word of God says, and it came to pass that when Isaac was old and his son's eyes were dim, so he could not see, he called Esau, the eldest son, and unto him my son, he and he said unto him, Behold, here I am. Don't you hear that throughout his throughout the Old Testament? Here I am. And he said, Behold, now I am old, I know not. The day of my death. Now therefore, take I pray, the weapons like quiver and bro. He's telling take his his bow and arrow and go out to the field and take me some venison. So here we start the first attempt to bypass God's will is by doing what he desired not doing what God had said. Isaac knew God's will for Jacob to receive the blessing. Isaac knew it. And he tried to take it in his own hands. And he tried to plan it himself to bless and give it to Esau, right? This suggests that the time was short. So there was not a lot of time left and he knew that. So by ignoring the irresponsibilities and behaviors of Esau, Isaac's i is is is trying to change history here. And he says, Make me thee savory meat, such as I love, and bring it to me that I might eat, that my soul may be blessed. the before I die. So the following the custom of celebrating the occasion of the meal or feast, that's a big deal, right? If it comes over on Sunday, holidays, what do we do at Christmas and Thanksgiving? And he's we these big feasts. We're celebrating in remembrance, right? Just like in Israel, they have different feasts that they have. And they're celebrating and remembering certain things. That's how you keep a civilization current and not like Edom who's no longer around. You have to remember, you gotta have a you gotta remember the history because if you don't remember the history, you're probably gonna repeat it. So these set these celebrations and feasts are times of family gathering and eating and just fellowshipping, having a good time. So that's their custom for the meal in the feast. But by being secret, this is what Isaac was doing, he's being secretive here. it comes back and bites him. So verse five, Rebecca hears what or heard Isaac spake spake to Esau his son, and Esau went to the field and hunt for venises and he bring and to bring it. And Rebecca spake unto his son Jacob his her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau and Thy brother saying, Bring me venison and that I may me make me savory meat that I may eat and bless thee for before the Lord and before my son. So I want you to know that Jacob and Rebecca both knew who that was supposed to go to. That blessing or that was supposed to go to Jacob. And he and he's trying to circumvent it. So by taking Jacob and suggesting that he was going to lose it or be left out. And be bypassed, that God's will would not be going to be fulfilled in his life. Folks, you know that's not going to happen, right? But that's what they were trying to do. That's part of Rebecca's sin. She's trying to attempt to speed this up and get this change. So she basically says, Bring me venison, make me savory meat, and I may eat and bless thee before the Lord before thy death. Now, in eight, he says, Now therefore, my son. Obey my voice according to that which I have commanded thee, go down to the flock and fetch me from there or thence two kids of Vokod, and I will make a savory meal for your father such as he loves. Okay, so his suggesting the human plan by suggesting this is a human plan to achieve God's will. That's suggesting. So prepare the meat herself and taste thee and the meat for Isaac. had loved that's a suggestion of a human plan, right? So we let me go on nine says says and thou shalt bring it to thy father and he shall or he that he may eat and that he may be blessed before thee. And Jacob said to his Rebecca, his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is hairy. Man I am a smooth my father pre pre adventure means prevent perhaps, will feel me. He's gonna figure it out. I will be seen to him as a deceiver. He's gonna catch me. Mommy, he's gonna catch me. And I shall bring a curse upon me, and I won't receive the blessing if I get caught. And his mother said unto him, My son, only obey my voice, go fetch me them. So she's suggesting him so Jacob, to have Jacob take the meat to his blind father to receive the blessing. Is what she's trying to suggest. By rationalizing the plan and convincing herself the plan was just. So she was in her mind thinking she was doing the right thing. Rationalize despite the wrong deception. See, we we overlook you ever heard the saying say, Well, my intention was. Well, this is what she her intentions were deceptive and they were wrong. And they were a possible curse. The conviction that was ca was caused was just. By preparing for every conceivable thing that could happen, she prepared the meal that was requested, and she handed the problem of she handled the problem with the clothing. Okay? And he went and he fetched and he brought back to his mom, and his mother made the savory meal, such as the father loved, and Rebecca looked to the goodly raiment of her elders eldest son Esau. which were with him in the house and put them upon Jacob, her younger son, and she put the skins on the kids of goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck, and she gave the savory meat and bread which she had prepared into the hands of her son Jacob. Okay, so she is she's she's handling the problem, she's given him the the the the the hair hairiness. She sends Jacob to Isaac and tries to thoroughly convince him that they had worked out God's will. She this is what she's thinking. And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau. Again, he says, Here I am, who art thou? I am and Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau, thy firstborn. I have done according to the batest me, and arise, I pray thee, sit and eat my venises, that the soul may be blessed by me, or me. Bless me. And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found? It so quickly, my son. And he said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to me. So he's fibbing. No such thing as a white liar or a fib. He's he's lying. And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou go, be my very son Esau. And Jacob went near unto his Isaac, and he said, And he felt. him and he said the voice of Jacob's voice. He said the voice is Jacob's voice, so he he recognizes it's Jacob. But the hands are of Esau, so he's got a dichotomy there. Sounds like Jacob, but his hands feel like Esau. And the discerned him not, because his hands were hairy. So he took the feelings over what he heard, as his brother Esau's hands, and he blessed them. So following this urging, so Jacob's sin to attempt to secure God's will was flat out wrong. Following the urgings and influences of the plan of his mother, he approached his father, began to deceive him or deception in lies, by arbitrating the success of God falsely. He falsely said because God blessed it, by impersonating another person which was his brother. And by laying claim that God will bless before God's time, basically he lies. And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am, lies again. And he says, Bring it near to me, I will eat it, my son's fenesses, that my soul may be blessed thee, that I may bless thee, him. And he brought it near him, and he did eat, and he brought him the wine, him wine, and he drank, and his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now and kiss me, my son. And he came near, and he kissed him. And he smelled him. So he was now he's got the touch. He's heard him, he's touching him, now he smells smells. And Jas Jacob shows the loving affection, but he does it falsely. And by accepting God's blessing through a wrong method. That's we're gonna talk about that a bit. So the smell we're starting to think about the smell of his raiment and blessed him and said, See the smell of my son is the smell of the field which the Lord hath blessed. God's material blessing. Let's pick pick it up twenty eight. Therefore God give the dew of the earth and the fatness of the earth and the plenty of corn and wine. So Jacob is now, this is important. Jacob's now receiving the blessings. And what we learn is how he's blessed. And his yields and crops are a hundredfold. They're divinely given. Average average corn yield maybe twenty five. Maybe fifty, but twenty five, fifty fold, maybe, but a hundred that's supernatural. That's why you that's why these guys make friends with him. So God's political blessing. So let people serve you or thee, and the nations bow down to thee, and be Lord over thy brethren, and thy mother's son bow down to thee, curse he, everyone that curses thee, and bless thee that blesses thee. So He's getting this patriarch title. He's going to get that protection from God and security based on this blessing right here. Then he says, and it came to pass soon Isaac had made a end and blessing of Jacob, and Jacob was scarce gone, or he left, out of sight. I would too. In the presence of did what did what what did Adam and Eve do when God called for them? They hid. They knew they did wrong. And he makes scarce. I mean he was getting out of there. And he also had made savory meat, and he brought it to his father. And he said unto his father, Let my father arise and eat of his son's venison, that thy soul may bless me. So this is Esau in his sin. He attempts to divert to change God's will. So he God's already made his chis decision. Going along with the attempt to bypass God's will. So he knew that Jacob was also the one that was supposed to receive the blessing. So three people knew that Jacob was going to get it, and even Jacob knew it. So he's even trying to circumvent God's will. So Esau came in from his hunting, and Esau prepared the tasty food he has was was recrossed. And Esau's purpose that his father would bless him. He did it because he was looking to be blessed. And Isaac's father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau. And Isaac trembled with exceedingly and said, Who? What? It's kind of what he's saying. Here is he that hath taken the venison that brought to me, or basically where is he, or who's the person that brought the venison to me, and I have eaten it all before? Thou cameest, and I have blessed him, yea, or yes, and he shall be blessed. And when Esau had heard these words from his father, he cried with a great exceeding bitter cry, and he said unto his father, Bless me, O me also, my father, O Father. So So he knew what was doing. And by refusing to accept God's will and choice, Esau identifies himself. Isaac realizes that God has overruled his son and him. Isaac confirmed that Jacob's blessing and Isaac or Esau, he he he cries out. And he's bitter now. He's really mad in the blessing. So and he said to the brother, Came with subtly. So he subtly talking about Jacob. Coming subtly, and he hath taken away the blessing, or thy blessing. And he said, It is not rightly named Jacob, for he hath supplanted, or tricked. These two times and he and he took away the birthright end, behold, now he takes away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me? So he's questioning his father, like, Do you have anything for me, Popsey? So and Isaac answered and said to Esau, Behold, I have made him the lot thy Lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for all the servants with the corn and wine I have that I have obtained, and what shall I? Do now for you, my son, or my son. So Isaac confirms that blessing. Esau he he acted injured, he's mad, he acted innocent, he refused to accept the responsibility for his failure to refuse to confess his need to change. Remember now, he was not in favor with God. He was not in the graces as Jacob was. One's own call in the role of life. He did not want the call that he was supposed to be taking, as to be the Bakor, the the oldest son, as the Hebrew word. And Isaac confirmed the blessing, and it could not be altered. So Esau refused to accept that fact. And so what does he do? He starts begging for the blessing. And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou not a blessing for me, even also? my father, Esau, lifted up my voice and wept. And Isaac his father and answered him and said unto him, Behold, thy dwellest shall be the fatness of the earth and the dew of the heaven from above. So I'm gonna stop right there. And the conclusion was in thirty nine the King James says Esau is going to get the blessings too of the fatness. Let me read, even in the Torah, and I think NSAB does a good job. That's a literal interpretation, by the way. Probably more literal in the King James. However, let me read this important verse in 39. 39. And Isaac, his father, answered and said to him, Behold, Away from the fertility. So he's already you're away from you're not gonna get any fertility of the earth, and you're and shall be your dwelling away from the dew of the heaven from above. And you shall and your sword shall be lived, you'll live by your sword, and your brothers you shall serve, but shall come about when you become restless, and that will break his yoke from your neck. So NSB is saying, Hey, that you You're not getting the fatness of the earth. You're not getting the dew of the earth. King James interprets it different. I don't know if they felt bad for him. I don't know whom, but it should have been interpreted properly. It was improperly interpreted. I think John Nelson Darby also interprets it correctly with a little little note on it. Just a minor little tweak. Does that mean anything? No, but it's a detail, and we should talk about it. So that's what we're doing. So the conclusion of the results, tampering with God's will. It's never good. The results upon Esau, and now he's going to live in a barren land and in the title land that's unfertile. He's going to live in conflict and he's going to live in servitude to who? Jacob Jacob. To be occasionally delivered. And He's gonna live by the sword, we talked just a minute ago, and serve thy brother. And Esau hated Jacob. He hated him because of the blessing, whereas his father had blessed him, and Esau said, In his heart, in his heart, this is big, the days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then I will slay my brother. So he's gonna kill his brother after the days of mourning. And they've got I mean, what is it, ten days or whatever? How many days do they do? Dismissal. And separation is the life of the fugitive. So he's basically he's making an an affirmation here. In the words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebecca. And she sent Jacob and called her younger son, and behold, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth confront himself, purposing to kill thee. Now therefore, my son, obey my voice and arise and go to Laban, my brother, and Aaron, his uncle, and tarry with him a few days until thy brother's fury turns away, and until thy brother's anger turns away from thee, and he forgets that which thou hast done to him, then I will send and fetch thee from there or thence. Why should I be deprived also of you both in one day? And Rebecca said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because my daughters of Het and Jacob to take a wife and daughters of Heth, such as these are of the daughters of the land. What good shall my life be? She's basically saying Heth Hittites is where he's gonna go marry a few. So so the results are it's it's disturbed relationship, there's hatred, there's bitterness, there's fear. There's threats, there's danger, there's dismissal, there's separation of the family. This is not working out well for anybody at this point. Results upon Rebecca the loss of her son's presence, the loss of her son's of affection and trust, Esau. So Esau's not happy with her, so she feels she's lost him, and the need to deceive again to make it a excuse to help Jacob escape. So he gives another she gives another reason for Jacob to go. and be an a an escape. Alright. So let me just give you some history here real quick and we're gonna bring it in for a landing. So Edom's historical roads. So Edom, Edom meaning red, I'll go through this quickly. Land Mount Seir. That's the mount that he's gonna be at. That's south of the Dead Sea. That's the Wadi Araba. Did you catch that? Wadi Araba Arab. Now southern Judah Jordan and parts of the Nagib capitals and strongholds the Bazra, Salah, later Petra, these are changes that happened, ports of Elah, Ezra, Gibber, and kin to Israel, usually hostile. So now they're hostile to Israel. Early contact, now remember when they made that covenant, Amalek, Arab and Isaac made a covenant with the wells, they were getting along, living next to each other, didn't have a problem. Now it's gone south. So refused Israel. So the early context, they refused Israel's passing through the wilderness in twenty. So remember, I'm a little ahead of myself, but we'll talk in the Exodus when they when when Moses wanted to go through the land because it was going to be quicker to get from where he was in the wilderness, and Edom said no. Esau Esau's people himself, Israel, commanded not to seize Israel's inheritance and or Esau's inheritance and the Edom king before the Israel had a king. So basically This is a situation that they wouldn't let him pass. So from a united monarchy. So Saul, we're gonna bring some, you know, Saul, David's son, David crushed them in the valley of the Salt, the garrison and the land. Joab, which was David's right-hand man or general, campaign was very severe. The Haddon of royal house fled to Egypt, later became Saul's adversary. He fulfills You shall serve your brother. So you shall serve your brother. So this comes into play and it gets fulfilled. So the the the Davidic kingdom, the vassals of Judah, the important people, then rebel in Jeroboam, eight forty, eight, forty eight. They set their own king. Remember, they wanted a king, they want to be like every other country around them. They want a king. And God's saying, I'm your king. I'm your king. Well we You know how that worked. Saul becomes the first king and then later, David and then Solomon. But To set their own king, that means to break the yoke, so that's being fulfilled. Amazah took Selah, Uzzah, and held Etha. And under Ezra in 735, Edom broke free for good. They finally broke free of that yoke seven thirty-five for good. Judah never recovered it. Assyrian vassals, the Kwasala Pew, and the later kings and inscriptions. continued to break free. Five eighty six BC, Edom sides with Babylon, loots Judah, blocks the fugitives, rejoices over Jerusalem, basically. The prophets treat this as an unforgivable brother crime. Arabs attacking Israel. Edomites then move west into the southern Judah, Hebron, Negiv, the old Edom, was later taken by the Nabataeans, the Arabs, the Petras and the Nabataeanites, which are Arabs. Udama is the Hellenistic Roman name for Edomites. So when they you see the word Idu M-E-A Edom Edom is that Roman name in the Hellenistic form and for the Edomites, now living in southern Judah. So God still dominates in the Persian Gulf in the inscriptions. But Judas, Maccabeus, hit Hebron. John Hycarnus, and this is 125-107 BC, conquered Udama, which is Arabs, and required circumcision in Jewish law, and Josephus from that time on had continued to be Jews. Debated continued on how to force the negotiations that was. So fast forward here. The antipater of Edomah Rose, that's the Arab Hazamanians, his son, Herod the Great, the Edom father, the Mebeteen mother, Arab mother, and the Rome Rome's king or client king of Judah. So he was in charge of Judah. He was kind of like a a proxy in place. Not of David, but the slaughter of the Bethlehem boys. We see that in Matthew, that's later we'll talk about and The New Testament high point of the old rivalry. So basically, Arabs later fought, the Jews, against Rome. Josephus, he enters Jerusalem in AD 70 with 20,000 soldiers. After 70, as the people were vanishing, so things were going away. After the afterlife, so scripture perpetually in into me or in me be judgment and pride of violence. And you're seeing the interpretation here. It's just constant violence. Some of the rabbinic typology of Edom for Rome and then Christendom or Christians, partly because Herod tied Edom to Rome with the power that the Midrash, which is another document that the Jewish people use or the Orthodox Jews use, Midrash, it's not a census of bloodline. Claims that the most modern Turks of today, mostly Muslim or Palestinians, are Esau, are theologically ethnic speculation, not what archaeologists and history's records can prove. They documented Edom. As an Edomite absorbed into the second temple Jewry. So this is so they're scattered. I mean, there's there's different, it's just not a cut and dry. So even Jacob had clans that became in the Arab side, and then the same with the Arab side became the Jewry side. So there was a lot of movement there. but the brother nations that refused the pilgrim road. War a Israel's joke yoke. So if you David put a yoke on anybody because he was in charge of everything. And he threw it off, cheered Jerusalem's fall, and migrated west. This is part of what folded in the Judea has a means. That's historical, folks. And you can look it up. Fact check me, please. And produce these kings, Arab kings, who tried to kill the Messiah in A D seventy and the name is gone and prophetic indication remains. So let's talk about the inspirational part about this. God's purpose does not wait for faithful father, a clean method, a noble heart. the covenant line, if we start thinking about the covenant line where it moves through a blind man, plotting mother, deceiving son, and furious brother, and lands and still lands where God wants it to land. Interesting. And it's not it's not permission, it is mercy that Jacob got the blessing and lost peace. He didn't have peace, that's for sure. He was afraid of who? Esau. We saw that when they met after his father died. Esau wanted a portion, not a burden. Isaac loved his favorite more than the word. Loved his favorite more than the word. And Rebecca helped God. None of these look like heroes in my book, anyways. The hero is The one who had already spoken. So if the promise depended on our integrity, there would be no Israel and no Messiah from the house. It all depends on who, folks? God. Alright, so let's talk about application and we're going to bring it in. So where God has spoken, you have to stop asking for a different ruling. Do not baptize manipulation as a faithfulness to a plan. Favoritism in a house splits it. Isaac, Rebecca, and each son in the family paid for decades to come. I would just I would submit even today in the Middle East. So do not trade the last call for a meal like Esau did, a feeling or a moment he He was starved gutted. He was hungry. I want my meal. Now, now now. That's what we do in our worldly life today. We want it now, now. Trading up something like that in a in a a situation where Long term you wait for on God and God makes that decision. So don't decease, don't try to seize and call by fraud what Jacob did. Wait and obey. You have to wait on God sometimes. A stolen outcome still costs. Jacob fled, labored, and deceived in turn and feared Esau for years. Remember what I said? He was scared death all. And we'll talk about that as they meet. To bury the father. So the blessing is not the same as the inner joy. Anointing without a clinging conscience is very heavy. So you've got to have a clear conscience, folks. And it can be very heavy and it can be difficult to live with. Pity on Esau's pain without reward, rewriting the text so he has a nice land to, I don't think is the right thing to do. So the scholars of the King James that made that decision, I think that was in an act. Just in my observation. I am not the expert. Scripture and geographic both say otherwise, we know that. And the Brothers War of twenty-seven is not a map for the name of the modern nations of Esau. So it's an early envy, violence, and contempt for the firstborn still burdens and to destroy today. Our goal is to trust God, to keep his word, without your Goatskins. Folks, Chaplin Dean Alley, I had a moment. Take care. God bless.
