JJ Shankles: Welcome to another episode of the CoExtrusion Podcast. How's it going, Jerry? Jerry Gomes: it's going great, JJ. JJ Shankles: Going great. Yeah. Well this week I've been running into some issues and so we're here to make an episode on it. Jerry Gomes: okay, so you've been running into problems, and you're gonna put your problems on me and all the listeners. Okay. JJ Shankles: Yes, we're gonna vent a little bit. We're all gonna come together. Repairability printers is one of those like it's really good most brands I feel like have fixed solved this issue, but on my Hey Gears printer, I've just been running into issues this week. so the the FEP screen finally wore out. So luckily they do have a little RFID on the screen and it tells you it estimates when it's gonna wear out and it's been at the maximum level for a long time. Jerry Gomes: Mm. JJ Shankles: And it finally wore out and there's a hole in it. So there's some resin that got underneath it. and I can't order a new one on their website. They are out of stock. And Jerry Gomes: Interesting. JJ Shankles: so a lot of people online were recommending, you should just stock up when they're when they're available, just get a few extras. And that's what some people were r saying. Yeah, just Jerry Gomes: that's the recommendation? Just get a f just just buy a few extra. JJ Shankles: buy a few extras, you'll be fine. And they're expensive. They are 70 bucks for the plain RS reflex RS re release film set. So you get two of the like frame with the FEP screen on there for 70 bucks. Or if you have the heated module, which I I do also have the heated module, and that bed screen also somehow got a hole in it as well. So and that one's a hundred for two of the screen sets. So Jerry Gomes: Ooh well so Okay, so l let me before we okay, so before we dive into the availability of of JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: these products. Now I'm not justifying a seventy dollar price tag. However, for those listeners that are unaware of Haguears, Hay Gears is like the Rolls Royce of consumer 3D printing or of consumer resin 3D printing. JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: think I mean I would I would say it's better than Bamboo Lab if you come if you're talking about a resin system, but very premium product, right? And so premium products are gonna command premium prices. However, JJ, what you said earlier, I'm having a cat attack. Sorry guys, I'm having cats I'm having JJ Shankles: Having some cat problems there. Jerry Gomes: cat problems. So earlier you said that the FEP is mounted onto a a frame, right? So JJ Shankles: Yes, yeah. Jerry Gomes: That automatically makes installation of your FEP way more user-friendly. makes ease of installation. I haven't done it personally, but I'm guessing it makes ease of installation very easy. so you you're paying $70 is it $70 for two, so $35 each? So Yeah. So JJ Shankles: Sev yeah, thirty five each. But you can't just buy one. You have to buy two. So it's like yeah. Jerry Gomes: fair. So you but you're paying $35 for for one Although you are getting a little bit more value because it's it's been like it's been made easy to install. So I just wanted to clarify that because that is that is part of it and there it there is value there. JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Yeah, it's one where I've on I think my first resin printer was an Anycubic really bad. It was like the cheapest one they had. and I tried to replace the screen on that one because I did cut a hole in it with the I didn't know what I was doing at the time. and replacing it is really hard to try to get it. You have to get the right tension around that frame when you're remounting the new one. Jerry Gomes: yeah. JJ Shankles: I had trouble with it at the time. I probably would do a lot better now because I know what I'm doing. But at the time I struggled with it. And so it's one of those where I would I don't mind spending a little bit more to get a frame. But thirty-five each is a lot. Looking at my my other Jerry Gomes: That is kind of expensive. JJ Shankles: printer, the Hallet X the Creality Hallet X1, you can r get by a replacement entire bed. So it's the whole vat and the screen and everything on it. For tw full yeah aluminum Jerry Gomes: Milt aluminum, right? yeah. JJ Shankles: for twenty bucks. Jerry Gomes: And then you're buying some like plastic or not even like some s yeah, no, I that that does feel bad. It does feel bad. JJ Shankles: Yeah, yeah. And so then it's like, man, thirty-five bucks just for it's a nicer printer. But the whole printer is only five hundred and fifty bucks for the Reflex R S right now. It's like it is the Cadillac But five Jerry Gomes: Only five hundred dollars? JJ Shankles: hundred and fifty bucks for the plane reflex RS right now. Jerry Gomes: That That's actually kind of shocking to me because the JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: if I was to buy a resin printer today, dare I say on a budget, I'm not saying but JJ Shankles: Yeah. Yeah. Jerry Gomes: reflex RS would be the tippy top of the of my list. Interesting. JJ Shankles: yeah. It's or it's listed as normally a thousand bucks but currently on sale for five fifty. yeah, I think that would be the one I would go for 'cause that's a really great price for that. I do think their combo is where the real system shines for me at least. I've started getting good prints off of my hallet, kind of learning that system, but I still use the cure wash and cure station from Hay Gears. Jerry Gomes: Hmm. JJ Shankles: Like just how it's two separate things and the wash module is just like a stir plate and so it stirs the vats really well. It's just really easy to use. Instead of the crealities like two in one combo is always just Jerry Gomes: Yeah, that's not great. JJ Shankles: a pain. And you can't do two things at once. It's always like I'm washing or I'm curing versus with this it's like cool, one machine is printing, one machine is washing, and one machine is curing. Jerry Gomes: yeah. JJ Shankles: All three steps are three separate machines. Jerry Gomes: Yeah. So I wasn't trying to derail us here. So Yeah. So JJ Shankles: Yeah. Yeah. No no no. kind of talking about the whole system as a whole, yes. Jerry Gomes: so not to derail us, but so wait, so you don't have any FEP and you cannot acquire any FEP. What? JJ Shankles: Yes, yeah. I can't officially re acquire one. There are some people online who said yes, you can just replace it with any standard sheet of plastic or you know, like a f I have some generic flep fs, I think from either a Creality machine or a any cubic machine that I'm now thinking of trying to mount on there. Jerry Gomes: So that might work, right? But one JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: of the reasons why why Hey Gears is so good is because the I don't know if their material is specifically different, but I like so let me rephrase. I don't know if their material is is impossible to purchase, but knowing where to get that exact material from a third party would be difficult. Because JJ Shankles: Mm. Yeah. Jerry Gomes: FEP material from one brand to the next is all Kinda slightly different. Some people use a little more opaque FEP, but it's like more like rubbery. Some people use more plasticky, rigid FEP, and it it JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: it drastically changes a the resolution of the prints you can print because the UV light that shines through it will disperse if it's more hazy. But if it's more hazy and more rubbery, you might be able print faster. So like JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: you might be able to buy something off the shelf, but Getting something off the shelf that mimics or is the same material as theirs would probably be difficult to find. JJ Shankles: Yeah, and like the minor thicknesses could totally change the refraction. like there's all these tiny when you're printing at these micro scales, like the slightest difference could throw things off just a little bit. And they say their screen is special or whatever, and so it's like, yeah, I would like to I'm gonna be annoyed by spending seventy bucks to replace it, but I'm gonna do it whenever it gets in stock, but I would like to use the printer this week, so Jerry Gomes: Yeah. It it makes the most sense to it in modernly, JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: this is actually difficult for me to say, right? Because if you go back I always say this in every podcast, if you go back if you go so JJ Shankles: If you go back, yeah. Jerry Gomes: if you go back six years ago, seven years like you could just buy any brand off the shelf random hot end and it's gonna w function JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: and work the exact same. But like modernly it makes sense. I I hate to say it because brands they overprice their their products even if it's just JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: like slightly proprietary, but it makes JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: sense to buy a brand specific products now because it will just work in that brand's ecosystem. Because like JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: specifically with Hagears, you're dealing with chemical reactions, right? JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: Yeah. Chemical reactions, a slight difference in in UV power or whatever, completely changes things. So JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: Hakears has fine-tuned their slicer profiles to work with their hardware. JJ Shankles: Yes. Like you put their resin in their FEP in their machine and it'll just print really well. And then I've I've tried deviating and using other f brand resins and it works ninety percent of the time I would say. Which is great. For for the price difference. It's like cool. I don't mind a few failures occasionally. Toss out. It's whatever. But it's one of those like I do understand using their stuff is definitely worth it for a lot of people to just spend a little bit more on the resin to get a easy to use great product. but yeah, now having to use another FEP, we're gonna see how that works. Using other Jerry Gomes: How does it work? Hey, you JJ Shankles: brands' resins on Yeah. Jerry Gomes: You might find out. You might just get lucky and get some generic off-the-shelf FEP that prints the exact same or prints better. And it's like, you know, 10 bucks instead of 70, right? Or instead JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: of 35. 5 instead of thirty. You might find something better. And it might require no tweaks to the profiles or like minimal tweaking. So I mean JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: these are these are all experiments somebody has to do. JJ Shankles: Yes. Yes, Jerry Gomes: And thank you, JJ. You'll be the one to do it for the whole community. JJ Shankles: yeah. I'm gonna be figuring it all out here. Jerry Gomes: The real the I think the big takeaway here though isn't Hey Gears specific. It's JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: it's more broad, right? It's more JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: like your 3D printer that you buy today in 2026, can you get parts for it in 2030? Four years away, JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: right? Like four years isn't that long. It's for I mean these 3D printers Realistically, they're good enough now that they should still be good enough in four years. If if you want to, right? Like everyone wants to upgrade every year, every other year, but like can you get a hot end for your bamboo lab A1 in four years? JJ Shankles: Yeah. And I think it's one of those like r sort of running into hay gears and I it reminded me a lot this week of like this I feel like is what people think Bamboo Lab is like is what a Hay Gears is actually like. Like where they sell everything at a slightly jacked up price and then it's out of stock and you're kinda screwed if they don't have the exact thing in stock, Bamboo lab in some ways, with some parts, when a new printer comes out, I've heard issues with it. But in general I've heard and have every time I've looked for a part personally for bamboo lab printers, it's been in available. And I've printed a lot with other filaments and gotten sometimes better results with bamboo lab than bamboo lab filament even, you know, like Jerry Gomes: Yeah, I think that kinda g I think that kinda branches out to an interesting thought topic though, and it's that Hagears is the Cadillac or the Rolls-Royce or w whatever you want to call it. JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: But what market share does Hagears have, right? Now, look at Bamboo Lab. They're the Cadillac or the Rolls-Royce of FDM. What market share do they have? They have I'm I I would I would Dare bet that one out of every two 3D printing owners has a bamboo lab product. JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: At least half of the community by now probably has a bamboo lab printer. So they can JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: like they can mass produce every single component on a printer, and then not only that, they can sell it for years on end, and like or th they JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: can stockpile a warehouse of Of a million a million nozzles just sitting on a shelf waiting for one of you guys to buy it. But Hagears JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: can't do that because their market share is so much smaller. JJ Shankles: Yeah, and the amount and because that vol I think a component is because that volume is so big now specifically the nozzle, I you can go to E three D, BQ, these other brands have replacement nozzles Jerry Gomes: Yeah. JJ Shankles: for it. So if Bamboo Lab immediately stopped selling nozzles, fine. Like you have other options and they offer little benefits here. Like they could maybe be better nozzles. You're spending a little bit more. To get different features on it, but like that totally becomes an option. Like immediately. I am looking right here. They are selling them, they are available. Jerry Gomes: yeah. JJ Shankles: Maybe not every component is replaceable. Like if Bamboo Labs stopped selling them every replacement part for the A1 Mini today, that would be annoying. But I do think BQ would step up and probably sell replacement frames and hardware and gears and motor. Like, because there is such a large install base. There's so many yeah, market share. The printers Jerry Gomes: A market share. Well it JJ Shankles: are so many. There are millions of A one minis out there. Jerry Gomes: It's it's basic business, supply and demand, right? Like JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jerry Gomes: I I don't think it takes a genius to to recognize, hey, this product is no longer for sale by the manufacturer, which for bamboo wouldn't happen because the market share is so big, but JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: like in a in a just a a mythical world, there are millions of people, literally millions of people with a bamboo lab A1. JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: If Bamboo Lab decided to stop manufacturing their nozzle, BQ would be like, there's some money in this. Like it JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: it's not BQ's not even about the money. Like they're a they're a good, well-meaning brand. They want JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: to do for the community because they were built by the community. But point is any any brand would would recognize that, like, hey, there's money in this and like I could step up and start manufacturing these parts because so many people need But it's j JJ Shankles: Yeah. And I'm looking right right now on the A one mini specifically, that was the one he came up with. every single part is in stock on their on Bamboo Lab's website of like the base plate, the motor cover, the housing, every like housing part you can buy and replace, every sh spool holder, the touch screen, the camera. Jerry Gomes: Yeah. You wanna you wanna know it's JJ Shankles: The a USB C cable is out of stock. Jerry Gomes: Yeah. JJ Shankles: It's a C to C cable. You could use any C to C cable like Jerry Gomes: It's a s and it's probably out of stock because it doesn't make sense for them to put that back in stock because that likely doesn't break. But it but it's out of stock and it and it probably will come back in stock very soon anyway. So JJ Shankles: But it is out of stock. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. But that that one you could use a different C to C cable and Jerry Gomes: yeah. JJ Shankles: probably have a fine experience. Jerry Gomes: But talking about products that have the market share, so JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: in the Ender 3, Mark III days, every single printer that came out, it doesn't matter if you were Crowdy, Prusa, Flash Forge, any of it doesn't matter. You used the exact same style hot end. It was the slow Was it an MK8 or that's the maybe MK8's the the name of the nozzle? I can't remember, but it was the exact same like aluminum heat block with this JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: a square heat block with a silicone. It's the exact same thing. JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: Because so many printers use that piece of hardware, I would dare say there are currently tens of millions of those on shelves all across China, warehouses, US warehouses. JJ Shankles: My own closet back up there. I think there's a few of in that box. Jerry Gomes: And nobody Your your closet, my closet. And no printer uses that anymore because it doesn't make sense because it heats so JJ Shankles: Mm. Jerry Gomes: slowly. It's not efficient. But because there were so many of them, they're still available. JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: And they will be available until the day everybody on this planet dies. Or until it or until the warehouse finds no value in holding it and they JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: literally throw it away because it costs them more less money to throw it away. JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: And that's the power of having a part that is so common and available. And your FEP, JJ, unfortunately JJ Shankles: Yes, yeah. Jerry Gomes: doesn't fall into that category. JJ Shankles: No, yeah. And there's not even like resellers that have this in stock. I think there was one in Europe, but it's like, I don't wanna pay European shipping to get it all the way you know, like it would be doubling the price because shipping was thirty bucks. And so it's like okay, I don't I don't want it that bad, like Jerry Gomes: It's it's this it's a very dangerous it's a very dangerous kind of road to go down though. And it's actually JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: something I think a lot of consumers should be cognizant of because JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: if you I mean Creality and Bamboo I I don't really think fit into this boat, but you could JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: buy like a cheaty 3D printer that's over a thousand dollars JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: and Cheidi's a big enough brand that I want to trust them and I want to believe their parts will be available in three or four or five years. But I don't know. And JJ Shankles: Yeah. It's one of those where y yeah, it's you risk going outside of the mainstream. Jerry Gomes: And that's not to say that you shouldn't buy one of those machines, because if you want one, then buy it. But it's like JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jerry Gomes: you you you need to be aware of what you're doing because JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: Chidi does have like parts on their printers that are going to break over time. Like what happens if your printer falls on the floor and the screen breaks? With Creality or bamboo, you're covered. Their screens are gonna be available forever. Well JJ Shankles: Yes, yeah. Jerry Gomes: Cheaty JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: That's a little bit more difficult. JJ Shankles: Uhhuh, yeah. And maybe there could be ways around it. Probably you'd need someone smarter on Reddit to have, you know, gone through the firmware of getting those screens to flash to a generic third party screen. Like there's complex solutions to pretty much any problem here. But it's more the like, is there an easy off the shelf available to ship now part? Yeah. Jerry Gomes: But also consider we're we're entering a world of additive manufacturing where 3D printers need to be easy to use for people that aren't engineers, people that JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: the pe people that aren't like I don't know, technically inclined. They want to be able to print toys for their kids. Or they want they want their eight or nine year old kid to be able to 3D print. And if if I got my kid a cheaty 3D printer and it was his first printer and and and it broke, like, obviously he's not gonna repair it. I mean you could JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: you could theoretically send it off to a a repair shop, but even if they did go down JJ Shankles: Yes, yeah. Jerry Gomes: this route of finding some hacked way to put a brand new screen in there, like that's it's like it's like putting a square cube in a round hole kind of thing. JJ Shankles: Yes, yeah, yeah. And the the cost for what it is, you know, if it's a two hundred dollar printer, repair just doesn't become a viable option. Unless there's a local repair store and it's a simple repair, it's going to cost more than two hundred dollars to, you know, do most repairs on a printer. So it's gotta be really worth repairing even. And so many of these so many of these cheap printers just aren't, so they're not available. but I Jerry Gomes: What's JJ Shankles: think there's in FDM printers there's so many off the shelf components in there of like your linear rods, your bearings, your gears, pretty much everything can be either 3D printed or is an off the shelf component for the most part. yeah. Jerry Gomes: Largely, yeah. I think I think in those cheaper printers though, you start to get into a is it worth repairing or JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: is it worth just buying new? I think the big thing here is when you decide, like, hey, I got my tax refund, I got fifteen hundred dollars, I'm gonna splurge. This is the first fifteen hundred dollar purchase I've made in five years. And I shouldn't do it, but I'm going to anyway. Boom. This is JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: in my cart. I bought it, it's at my front door. So like it's I think this I I think it's more about like the expense of machines because yeah, I mean a you have the JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: the the hottest two hundred and fifty dollar printer on the market, you hit it with a baseball bat, you throw it in the can you throw in a bonfire, it burns. Like, okay, I'm not gonna replace a this part when I can just buy the whole thing over again for two hundred and fifty bucks. Yeah. JJ Shankles: Yeah. Especially if it's a year old. Like a two hundred dollar printer a year old, it's like, okay, cool. That's probably unfortunately that's e-waste at that point. Yeah. but yeah, these brands I Jerry Gomes: I yeah. Unfortunately, but I don't know, it's it's definitely JJ Shankles: feel like we should it's more my getting back to the we should hold these brands better. I don't know. I'm thinking about making some sort of video on like how I'm annoyed at hay gears right now. Like they don't offered this replacement part. And so I'm sorta stuck. I didn't buy the Jerry Gomes: Yeah. I I'm JJ Shankles: printer, so I I can't complain that much. But if I bought the printer, yeah, I'd be really mad that this two thousand dollar system is now sitting waiting on a thirty dollar part that's out of stock. Jerry Gomes: Yeah. I'm curious, and this isn't to call you out, just JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: genuine curiosity. When you got the printer, did it come with a spare FEP and so it didn't come with a spare? 'Cause normally they JJ Shankles: No. Jerry Gomes: a lot of a lot of printers in the pat like resin ones in the past did. So that's JJ Shankles: Yeah. I don't I'm pr fairly certain it didn't 'cause I feel like I would have noticed it in the box. I still have the Jerry Gomes: Yeah. JJ Shankles: the box that the screen came in. yeah. Jerry Gomes: Well, the the so the other thought there was, and like I said, not to call you out, but this JJ Shankles: No, yeah. Jerry Gomes: is definitely something that people should keep in mind. Like, hey, if this is a wear item, you should look at your stock right now. It doesn't matter JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: if it's resin, FDM, if you don't have another nozzle, if you don't have another hot end or a fan, a cooling fan, an JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: FEP, like might be wise to go. purchase and just have a small repair kit. Hey, I've got these on the shelf so when they do JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: break, I'm not necessarily waiting for it to come back in stock. So JJ Shankles: Yes, yeah. And I think f probably for people with less printers, like, when my printers stop working, they just sit there, like both my Creality the K two plus and Pro both this week were having issues with clogs in the nozzle. And so I tried to restart them both and I don't know I don't know what's going on with both of those. I probably should poke it with a needle or something to see to try to unclog the nozzle. Like I was like, I could just take off the nozzle and it's like, this probably fine. I don't know if there's just a junk clog in there or something. but basically I ignored ignored it and moved all my bamboo printers to print everything this that I was working on this week. So I can ignore these expensive printers Jerry Gomes: Yeah. I think JJ Shankles: just sitting there. Jerry Gomes: I think people, I I think a lot of people like you or me on the internet probably are in the JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: outlier category where yeah, like I'm the same way as you. If JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: if I don't have a nozzle for like my my K two Plus, JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: the nozzle clogged the other day. I took that thing off and it should have been taken off a long time ago. I don't think I've ever replaced it. Right I I had nozzles, thankfully for a completely different reason. I am just god just lucky that I had Otherwise that printer would have been out. But if that printer was out of business or out of order, it wouldn't matter because I would just use a different one. But for a lot of people, it's like you've got one or two printers. JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: And and it also makes sense to make those one or two or one not but two or three printers, it makes sense to have them be a same brand from the same JJ Shankles: Mm. Jerry Gomes: era because a lot of those will share parts. So instead of having to have Extra parts for both. You just have extra parts for one, which works on both. JJ Shankles: Yes, yeah. Like now all of my bamboo printers all use the same nozzles. So it's like, okay, cool. Like if I need it if I do swap between a point two, point four, point eight, like it works on all of is super nice to have. But the the other thought I had while you were talking about that is one of sort of as a YouTuber, maybe I should be more aware of this and call this out more in a review. But a review is I don't know, a month. with a new printer and if it if these FEP screens are still in stock during that time when I'm making this review, then I can't say, well what about future when maybe they go out of stock? Like, you know, I I don't Jerry Gomes: Okay. JJ Shankles: think I could have done a better job of being aware of this or something, you know? Like I can't review its long term derb. I could make a follow-up review of like, hey, here's a year later and I've run into one little issue with it. It's still a good printer and I still would recommend it. That doesn't change. It's just I have a little annoyance that you should buy Jerry Gomes: Yeah. JJ Shankles: a separate screen or they should keep these more in stock. I don't know. Yeah. Jerry Gomes: I don't think and you know, obviously I'm in the same position as you, so I'm JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: am obviously biased. I I don't think that you've done anything wrong by that because I would have done the same. Like, you can't you can't like hyper focus on every like tiny nuance that like you didn't hyper focus on that because you didn't even know it was a thing. You JJ Shankles: Yeah, yeah. Jerry Gomes: you wouldn't have even known for that to be a thing. So you couldn't have ever JJ Shankles: Uh-huh. Jerry Gomes: possibly made a comment about it. But I think it's one of those like As as influencers with people that that look to us for opinions JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: and for long term reviews and stuff like that or knowledge base, whatever, it's good to understand the problems as they come and then bring them to light because this assuming Hagears restocks the F the F E P, it it's not like they're leaving you high and dry. But understanding hey this is a this is a s this is a problem that could arise and it's not just Hagier's as it it it's any JJ Shankles: Mm. Yes. Jerry Gomes: of the smaller brands, whether they're cheap brands or premium brands, it could happen with any of them. JJ Shankles: yeah, totally. Like the you could have bought a Prusa a few years ago and are they still making every part for the whatever thousand dollar printer you bought a handful of years Jerry Gomes: What JJ Shankles: you know, like yeah. Jerry Gomes: when the XL first came out and they were barely shipping any units, do JJ Shankles: Mm. Jerry Gomes: you think Prusa would have shipped you an extra tool head if your toolhead was broken? Probably not, right? JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: Maybe they maybe you you could have replaced it just by knowing what parts like it comprised it, JJ Shankles: Mm-hmm. Jerry Gomes: but That's one of those supply JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: and demand things. All like a hundred percent of their manufacturing has to go towards customers that paid and don't have. Right? So JJ Shankles: Mm. Yeah. And the new new printers are di are I think there's two different class of new printers are pretty much always gonna run into some stock issues. But the older printers of the like it's a few years old type Jerry Gomes: Yeah, yeah, yeah. JJ Shankles: thing, 'cause I feel like every brand, every new printer comes out and someone will message on a comment to be like, this fan broke or this belt is messed up a little bit and they don't have it in stock and it's like This released yesterday. Like it's like Yeah. Jerry Gomes: That is true. That's true. That that is true. Hmm. Well, JJ Shankles: Yeah. Jerry Gomes: I don't know, it's good conversation. I think there's a lot to think about there though. JJ Shankles: Mm. Jerry Gomes: I'm curious, anybody watching right now, have you had issues with ordering replacement parts for any of your machines? And if you have, let us know what brands and what parts down in the comments section down below. JJ Shankles: Yes. 'Cause it's something us as YouTubers we just don't experience all as much as often as if we were the average consumer.
