Boston, only one back of the Yankees, sixty-two and fifty-one, Baltimore fifty-six and fifty-nine, and Toronto fifty-four and sixty-two. In the central, the White Sox fifty-nine and fifty-four. Three and a half back is Cleveland, fifty-seven-fifty-nine. ⁓ Minnesota, fifty-six and fifty-nine. Tigers 56 and 59. Damn a lot of 59s there. And then the Royals 48 and 67. Teams are starting to def yeah, other than like the AL Central, AL West, there's ⁓ every other team's got every other division's got about two teams in it that are sticking in it and that's about it. ⁓ except I mean I mean the w A L East has got three, but ⁓ that's about it. The rest of them are just kinda you know, it's the the back of the pack, the trade deadline kinda got the teams who were just getting rid of things and that's now you're just seeing the top two teams from each division kinda pull away, do the what they're doing and that's it's we're gett we're getting to the just to try to keep everybody healthy and get h get to the end of the season.

So they kinda once they fired Joe, you know, Joey Corey and got and got things figured out and some players got hurt that probably those younger guys, things are just kind of rolling for ⁓

And they're in a wild card spot over San Diego. And San Diego's played well, so I'll give Arizona they've also moved. Those would be the two teams. Red Sox and the Diamondbacks have really started to march their way on ⁓ to find a postseason spot. But other than that, ⁓ I think we're just gonna rip right into the trade deadline. ⁓ Do you guys wanna go through every trade or not I mean notes? You know, the big ones? speaker-1: There's just teams that improved. ⁓ Yeah. You know, yeah, Scuba helps the Dodgers. ⁓ I thought I mean the Cubs did a good job getting their pitching what they needed. They did a good job. I mean, I'm not a Gosman fan, but I think you at least you got somebody can eat some eat some innings.

speaker-0: their ⁓ cards into the table because they dealt some decent prospects for the guys they got. I know the guy they got from ⁓ the Mets or ⁓ in the homes trade. I know that guy's top one hundred and then what was the other bat yeah that was the other one. Yeah giving up Balasteros ⁓ to the angel ⁓

I think the only trade I I I we I don't think we talked about. I hated the Tyreek School trade. I'm not we're not the only ones that hate it. Everyone hates it. It w they didn't get anything back. ⁓

speaker-1: I don't care about it. I don't the my my my my thing about school is you you get what you get. I mean ever you don't know what these prospects are. That's my whole thing is why hold on to prospects that you don't know if they can perform. ⁓ yeah, they did just because they're in a top one hundred, you miss out you miss out on the top one hundred miss outs. They there's a status says only like ten percent of those actually turn out to be anything, or twenty percent, something like that.

So will they be healthy by the time they get to postseason? I don't know. And ⁓ that's w I don't think they'll perform if they're the the way they are they usually do because they're they are hurt.

speaker-0: I really don't. But he's got forty playoff innings in two years. Like he doesn't pitch other than the playoffs. Same thing with Snell. Snell hasn't pitched since his first three months there. But we'll see.

speaker-0: I know it they have so much ⁓ depth because they can go and get so many different players. ⁓ but really the only trade personally I thought all deadline was a true shocker, and it wasn't the player they got, it's what they gave up, was the Red Sox getting Adley Rutschman. That was really the true shocker for me for the entire deadline. ⁓ I know Roy doesn't care about prospects, but I mean they gave up a gener or an absolute haul for him. And I'm gonna be honest, I wanted the Yankees to get Adley Rutschman. He's an average hitter. He is not an above average hitter in Major League Baseball. Good defender, and I understand catching that is valuable. But what they got back, I mean, it was a no-brainer for Baltimore. So Bal I really truly think Baltimore's close to blowing it, like blowing it up. Like Gunnar's gone, Jackson Holiday's gonna be gone. No, I'm not saying within the next calendar year, but like with that kind of trade where they can get that many prospects at the same age, they're gonna they they're gonna blow it up.

speaker-1: See, I was glad that the Yankees didn't get him because he's he's had the inj ⁓ wrist injury all year. He and that's bothered him and then wrist injuries don't just go away. I mean you're talking months and months of r you know, rehab 'cause it's just ⁓ because you use it so much. So I you know, whatever they gave him I you know, again, I don't care about prospects. So if that's who the Dodge or the Red Sox needed, ⁓ I hope he f ⁓ falls on his face. ⁓ 'cause I just 'cause he's a Red Sox, I don't give a shit about the Red Sox. You know, teams that I thought were gonna s that should have selled, they didn't sell. I mean, I really thought the you twins might do a little more. I really I mean I I ⁓ teams that should have probably. Giants I thought would do a little more. I really thought, you know, the Royals might do a little more. I thought some you know, teams like that might do more. And they just didn't do anything.

speaker-0: I don't even know if they made one trade. Well, they got rid of Lee Thomas. Okay, but

speaker-1: Yeah, I mean well yeah, the couple guys are the brace. But it like ⁓ teams just didn't do anything. I mean there's a lot of teams that just said, you know what, we're gonna stick with this team. I think a lot of peop 'cause I really th I think a lot of people are afraid about the C BA. ⁓ I think everybody's afraid about what's gonna happen. You know, it's not so much that they're not there's not gonna be a season. That's what the everybody's kinda thinking that's what's gonna happen. I think I think what the problem is they're wondering what's it gonna look like after when they do bring it back. Are they gonna I mean the money Everybody's talking you know, they're talking about salary caps. They're talking about, you know, all these different things, you know, having a f at least a floor and a ceiling and all that and where would that if do you grandfather people in? Do you get punished? How are you gonna get punished for things? There's so much up in the air, and I think a lot of owners were like, you know what? We ride it the way we wanna ride it. Am I do I agree with it? No, 'cause I don't give a shit about money and how all these team mil billionaires keep continuing making money off of all these and all these teams like Minnesota who get all this money from the all the teams that do make money and then don't do anything with it. So fuck ⁓ I don't give a shit about that stuff. Yeah.

speaker-0: ⁓ were there any teams that you guys thought had good deadlines?

speaker-2: ⁓ I actually ⁓ I it's hard for me to say whether I think the Mets had a good deadline or not. I know that they did sell, but I just don't think they got the return that they should have gotten off of anything really. Like did they get anybody worth mentioning off of everything that they sold?

speaker-0: Yeah. Well, they're they all got prospects like he'd see if they pan out. I mean, I'm gonna be honest, the of the people the Mets gave up, none of those players were gonna bring a top fifty guy. Like they weren't none of them were that good. They really the only thing they truly sold of talent was bullpen. Yogi stopped that. ⁓

speaker-2: I thought you would see a couple of their high paid stars leave and you didn't see it.

speaker-0: But they're trying to the thing about the Mets and the Yankees would be in the same boat and the Dodgers would be in the same boat. And the Padres because they're a general manager, but Yankees, Dodgers, and Mets all fall into the category. They can just buy a hole if they need it. Like if they truly need it, they can buy it in free agency. So the Mets aren't gonna trade Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, when if they trade two or three holes, they'll just go and buy those three or four holes. We saw them do it this year. They don't need Bobochette in that lineup, but they needed a short sub, or actually a third baseman, technically. So they just went and bought one. You know, they paid over market for it. I don't think those teams are ever gonna like fire sale when if they just move one or two pieces and then they buy the holes, they still have Juan Soto and Frankie Lindor in there.

speaker-1: So I No, I see what Bryce is saying. I did I I thought the Mets would do more too, but I don't I don't think they would sell like Lindor and ⁓ some of those I think they would like to get rid of some of those guys. The problem is I think they're asking what I was reading, they their asking price for anybody was ridiculous. They were just they were trying to get these prospects 'cause they know they had they're what well what they're trying to do is, like you said, they're gonna buy players, but then they're gonna use some of these prospects to get like, you know, go out and get like whoever they need ⁓ later. So ⁓ that That's that that's their problem. The Mets I mean, but the Mets is a disfunctional organization that don't know how to do anything. ⁓ so they d do they have a good die line? No. I mean they got prospects, who gives a crap? ⁓ I thought the Cubs I thought the Cubs did a good job. I thought the Rays did a good job, which sucks. I thought the Rays actually did a good job. ⁓ they got a hitter, they got pitching, they got they got just ⁓ they don't do anything big. They just got things that help them make them help them better. And they're already a good team. And I actually thought Pittsburgh did a decent job. You know, they got they needed bullpen help and I you know, if they can get their stars to actually start hitting and doing things, I thought they did a good job. But I I I don't know if they're gonna make the playoffs or anything, but ⁓ thought they did actually a d underlining decent job.

speaker-0: Yeah, I thought San Diego did good. ⁓ they got two deep like solid starters, Robbie Ray and ⁓ Casey Myes there down late and they didn't deal anything from their pen. So they have a really good pitching staff that those bats can just wake up. I like the Phillies deadline as well. Adding the rise into that lineup, it's already paid dividends, but still just a contact hitter in a power lineup. Wish the Yankees would have done something like that.

speaker-0: I like the I mean I like the Cubs. ⁓ they got two starters. Gausman's the question mark. If Gosman's good, I really like it. Cause Clay Holmes, I think, is solid, but Clay Holmes is never gonna be like a ace. But I do like him his fit in Chicago with the defense behind him on a ground ball pitcher. ⁓ but I think Gaussman's been so good, but this year he hasn't been great. speaker-2: He's been talking shit about his previous team. I don't know if you've seen his interviews. He's like, I'm glad to be at an organization that wins, like th there's good fans here. Just I saw people on Twitter that are he came from the Rays, right? ⁓ Blue Jays. Yeah, always get those two teams confused. He and he said, ⁓

And they're four games under five hundred and haven't won since two days before the deadline. Makes it just

And they weren't gonna have a g were not gonna have to give up the number one prospect in the sport, Luis Mate, to go get Tyreek Scubil. Obviously, we saw the return. It was one top hundred prospect. Two if you count a 28-year-old rookie, which I don't.

speaker-2: Well, the issue with that, and this is what pissed me off about the trade, is that you know you're only getting them as a rental, so are you willing to give up whatever the Dodgers gave up, match it, just for him to go to the Dodgers at the end of the season 'cause you already said he's gonna sign

But if you're not if you're only giving up like one true one hundred prospect and it's not the number one prospect in the sport and it's a number fifty guy, tell me a better chance the Brewers have. Jacob Mizarowski is a top three pitcher in this sport. Dominant. I mean absolutely dominant. Tyreek Skubel is a top five. However you want to put him in the north.

speaker-1: Are you sure that the the du the Tigers were not asking for that top prospect? Because what I s what I read that the he was at they were asking for the Yankees to get him and what some other teams were g that what that Detroit was asking was way more than what the Dodgers were giving them to get.

speaker-0: Had four outfielders in the top one hundred. They have a number four, five, I don't know what is in the top seven. They have a number ten, and they have like a thirty-two and a fifty, something like that. They didn't ask for the number one. ⁓ Jose DePal.

speaker-1: Yeah, I know. I'm I okay, I get what you're saying, but I'm saying for the Yankees they asked for Lombard. They asked for our top players. Do you not sure that you do you sure you d they didn't ask that from the Brewers and then they went to the Dodgers and said, Hey, you know what? We want this guy, this guy, this guy and d and Dodgers like okay. Well I mean this is who they asked for.

speaker-0: There's no way that the brewers would go to the Tigers and they would say, We want Scoobyl, and they go, We want your number one prospect, and then the brewers go, Well we're not doing that, and then they hint up the phone when they just called the Dodgers and they didn't get either of their top three prospects.

speaker-1: Well, I mean, how do you know what they asked for? 'Cause that's the question, 'cause that was whatever I keep reading. Is ⁓ d how do you know what they they could have said, hey, we want we want our number two prospect or whatever. I don't know. I don't I just know what he's to do the same spot as the other guy. I don't know. You know, the Brewers are in situations where they n they just maybe like you said, they it's a rental. I mean I just from what they asked for the Yankees, I'm just gonna w I know what they asked for the Yankees. Yeah. They a they asked for Lombard, Spencer Jones.

speaker-1: And why you know, and we said no, and they wouldn't even give us a second offer. So and then they went to the Dodgers and got this shitty ass offer. So I don't where was the disconnect? So I don't you know I just don't know what the Dodgers were try or Detroit was trying to sorry, it was trying to do at that point.

speaker-0: Yeah. Only go off rankings. We know we don't know what any of these players are gonna be. Ranking wise, Lombard is about what what they got. They he I think Lombard's like was like twenty something, and I think they got like thirty something. So I mean it's relatively close. But going from like thirty something to the number one in the sport is a big jump. When the Dodgers have number seven, they didn't get ⁓ Number ten, they didn't get ⁓ So to say that ⁓ you had to send a top ten prospect, well, it's not true. Now I'm not saying that the Dodgers didn't want that, but I don't know. I just think if the I'm not maybe they just didn't want the Brewers players. That also could be a thing. I'm not just only blaming the Brewers because they didn't get ⁓ but they should have tried. They should have done everything in their power, in my opinion. But even if okay, you miss on Tyreek Scuble. It happens. You don't always get every player you want.

speaker-0: Their alternate was Dustin May of the St. Louis Cardinals, which is just underwhelming to me. Who, again, is a rental, free agent at the end of the year. So I just didn't like their deadline. They got him and Jojo Romero, and I don't think they got anyone else. Like that was the only two players they got.

speaker-2: That was wi that one was weird to me too, that the Cardinals would trade ⁓ in the division like that.

speaker-1: No one cares about that anymore. That that that end division in in the division thing, no one cares anymore. It's about I mean, because we're getting to the point where we're just gonna have one American league and one national league and it's just gonna get yeah, that's all we're gonna have. We're gonna get to that point because no one gives a shit about you know, hey, you can't trade with your rivals anymore. I mean even like even Cubs and Cardinals will do it. Yankees and Bred Sox will trade are trading. It's just re it's not the it's a different different way than what it used to be.

And who was the third catcher? ⁓ Liam Hicks. Left-handed bat. And sure, would it be an upgrade over Austin Wells? Yes, I do agree. We didn't need another left-handed bat, so I don't blame them not going after that. They didn't have a lot of options after that. So

speaker-1: I I no I don't give a shit about the catching situation. Mine was the really ⁓ bullpen. Everybody can say we're number one bullpen. We just struggle we struggle all the time. ⁓ I agree. ⁓ we've we've our starting pitching is probably one of the better ones in baseball, and our bullpen is bad. And the my question we have so many top prospecting pitchers in the in the minor leagues that are blocked because you're I mean we have so many guys under contract for the next five freaking years. Trade some of them away for a couple bullpen species. I mean, at least get something to help your team. ⁓ I I and we get the the same old we get the same answer every time. Asking price was too high, we just didn't feel like they were the right piece. I mean Brian Casmer says I think he just might as well just put on record because that's what he says every damn trade deadline. Yeah. And it just drives me nuts. ⁓

They're just gonna turn all their starters into bullpins for the playoffs. Ryan Weathers, he'll be he will not start one game in the playoffs. ⁓ Will Warren will not start one game in the playoffs. And I honestly, I don't

speaker-0: gonna move the bullpen. So it's gonna be like your two or three guys you trust, Bednar, Cruz, Hedrick, and then starters. That's that's all it's gonna be. So get the bullpen better than it is now? I do. I do yeah, I do. Because some of those bullpen arms are just terrible. But

speaker-2: I think the colour. The best about the Cubs getting all these pitchers is we also have a ton of pitchers on the aisle and most of them are starters. So we're gonna be getting Ben Brown back, possibly Justin Steele, Edward Cabrera and ⁓ Cade Horton. I'm not sure when they come back, but I don't think it's this season. Edward Cabrera could be back by the end of the season. Who?
