But me and Bryce are tired, so we're gonna start going. ⁓ For us, it is September 8th, Tuesday. It will this will post tonight, ⁓ because we can't schedule. But football is back tomorrow. Yes, college football has been back, and yes, we'll talk about some college football. But the NFL, which that's me and Bryce's favorite, we start tomorrow. Brice: Right. Josh DeMage: And it's the last game that we watched. New England's gonna play Seattle, rematch to the Super Bowl. It will be in Seattle. The banner will be dropped. Good for Seattle, they should. ⁓ should be a good game. ⁓ I think Seattle in a few ways took some steps back. I also think in a few ways it took some steps forward. ⁓ New England as you know, as much shit as people gave ⁓ for getting to the Super Bowl and maybe not deserving it. They should be starting to build a little bit. I mean they should make steps. So this should be a good game. ⁓ Bryce, is there anything in this game that you're looking forward to seeing or watching? Brice: Yeah, I think it'll I think it'll be a similar game to the last time they played in the Super Bowl. Obviously the stakes aren't as high. ⁓ Patriots are gonna come in with a chip on their shoulder. I think the first half will probably be pretty close and you'll see Seattle run away with it. But I do wanna say I don't like them doing Super Bowl rematches first game of the year. I'm okay with it like mid season and s or something, but it's just weird to me, like these teams just played. That's literally the last game that we watched. Now the season opener, three days before For any other game pretty mu or I guess there's probably Thursday night and then I think there's like a Saturday night in there somewhere this year, but anyway, I just don't like it. I w put it in the middle of the season or something, or just don't have it. it should be Seattle versus a different AFC team, or ne New England versus a different AF I like the Super Bowl winner playing. I just don't like them playing the exact same team. Yeah. Josh DeMage: Yeah. So that's historically what it is. The Super Bowl winner will open usually on a Thursday. I don't know what I think this is like a a special. Like I don't know if it's I I don't know if it's on Netflix. I don't know what it's on, but this is like a special. That's why it's on a Wednesday. That's what's throwing it all off. But usually, like two years ago, when the Eagles won the Super Bowl and they dominated, last year, Dallas went. Now Dallas wasn't the Super Bowl, Dallas lost in the playoffs that year. So usually it's just the Super Bowl winner opens. ⁓ I think the problem came in. Yeah. The problem I think they have is New England, you know, we know how the schedules work. You know, they have to play a division from the other side. Brice: Yeah. See, it also shouldn't be a division team though. I don't think that you should have a divisional game as the first game of the year. Josh DeMage: And I'm sh I'm I obviously they got ⁓ the the NFC West got the AFC East where New England's at. And I think it was probably just, you know, best spot. You know, I know I've I don't know if you've ever watched how they make the schedule. ⁓ it's fascinating by the way. Yeah. Brice: Well, ⁓ they're both playing the number one team of that division, so it's obvious that they've but it should be a different division. Josh DeMage: Yeah. But yeah, I mean, yeah, I I don't know if I've ever seen a Super Bowl rematch. I'm trying to think not to open. So I mean Yeah. But I mean, hey, you know, if if it had to happen, it had to happen. I don't I really don't care. I'm just glad football's on tomorrow. And I'm glad Seattle's opening ⁓ at home. ⁓ that part I enjoy, but I really don't care that it's New England. ⁓ well Brice: I don't think it might be. I've seen Super Bowl rematches just not to open, like you said. Just Yeah, I'm sure I'll put in a fat parlay for the first game of the year. Josh DeMage: ⁓ yeah. ⁓ yeah. I wonder how much money Draft King's gonna win tomorrow. ⁓ Brice: ⁓ yeah. Josh DeMage: Well, Roy is gonna be here, but we're gonna go ahead and start picking. ⁓ we're gonna pick every game just like we normally do in week one. There are no buys. We got a full slate. Gonna be a, you know, game on Wednesday, game on Thursday, and then I think the rest are Sunday, Sunday night, and then a Monday. ⁓ let's start it. New England goes to Seattle. Rice, I've already see your choice, but and I'm gonna match you. I'm gonna take Seattle at home. ⁓ Brice: I am gonna take Seattle. I'm gonna go ahead and put Roy in for Seattle at the moment. I'll change it if he has a different thing, but Josh DeMage: Yeah. ⁓ next one. This is Thursday night, and this is not in the location ⁓ that you expect. This game's actually in Australia. San Francisco's going to play the Los Angeles Rams, a big divisional game early in the year. ⁓ again, in Australia. No Aaron Donald. That got announced today. Brice: Yeah. Josh DeMage: Lot of people are speculating. He said F that flight. I'm not doing it. I'll see you guys when you come back. Hey, come out of her diamond. You can kinda sh c call your own shots. ⁓ I'll go first on this one. I think this game can be close. I think s you know, San Fran has one problem the last few years. Health. Hopefully this is as healthy as they're gonna be. You know, or you know, that you can go into a game having all off season. ⁓ McCaffrey could give the Rams some problems with I mean without Donald, even though they have Brice: Yeah. Josh DeMage: Miles Garrett. I still am gonna take the Rams. They're just too good on paper. We're gonna have to see see what all these teams look like. ⁓ week one is always a little bit difficult 'cause you can look on paper, but that doesn't mean everything's gonna gel and injuries and bad play. Good play from some players. So week one's always a little scary for me, but I mean you just have to go with what you think on paper at the end of the day. Brice: Yeah, I mean I've said it on this podcast several times. I hate overseas games. I think they're ridiculous. I think the conditions are always terrible. Players aren't playing how they should because they just got off of a fifteen hour flight. So this game could go anyway just because of the travel, but I do think that LA has the same team as last year plus defensive editions, so I I think that carries over a little bit better than San Fran having almost a completely new offense with Mike Evans and Devo Samuel, who used to be in the system but not the same player. We'll see how Mike Evans plays in that system. ⁓ I'm gonna take the Rams though because I don't know if you saw Miles Garrett working out learning how to hit harder. I mean, whoever that guy is teaching him how to hit harder should be in prison because you just taught the best defender in the league how to hit harder. Also, I don't know if you saw Miles Garrett was ranked number one in the NFL. I don't know about that. I would say he's probably two or three. I think it's hard to say that the MVP is not number one. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yep. Who do you think is number one? Brice: the ⁓ VP of last season, Matthew Stafford. Josh DeMage: And who is that? ⁓ yeah. I'll be honest. Brice: I just find it harder to believe going into the season you don't have the number one ranked as the ⁓ V P. That's weird to me. But Josh DeMage: ⁓ yeah, I don't know. I just Miles Garrett, doesn't he own the sack record? Like in the history of the sport? Most certainly doesn't. I mean, yeah, it's it's tough. ⁓ next game. Tampa Bay goes to Cincinnati. Bryce, I'm gonna let you go first on this one. Baker Mayfield, new contract, by the way. Brice: ⁓ yeah. Yeah, Tampa Bay that's what I was just about to say signed thirty million dollars, I believe, a year. big extension. Tampa Bay is just they were banged up last year. I think losing Mike Evans is gonna be huge. I don't have you seen if the ⁓ Abuka is playing in this game or not? Josh DeMage: I believe he is. I believe he's playing or you know Brice: Even though he is, Cincinnati is I think they're gonna be a powerhouse this year with Joe Burrow finally seeming to be healthy. ⁓ we'll see if that works or not, if their O line works, if their defense works. I think there's a lot of what ifs on both of these teams. But I am gonna take Cincinnati right now, even though I absolutely love Baker Mayfield and the Bucks. I just that offensive top Mike Evans I think is a much different team. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I'm also gonna go to Cincinnati and I agree with you. I just think they're healthy, you know. ⁓ could Tampa Bay win this game? ⁓ yes, absolutely. I think this is ⁓ you know, one of the better games of the week. I'm in I'm really gonna be intrigued to watch this on noon. ⁓ high power powered offense against Tampa, who historically has been good on defense since Todd Bowles has been there. ⁓ Baker new contract. I'll see what that offense looks like. But Cincinnati's defense is nothing to write home about. ⁓ but I do. I still think Cincinnati's got enough firepower to win the game. Next one. New Orleans goes to Detroit. I'm a big New Orleans hater. I I really think they're awful in a lot of areas. ⁓ I'm gonna take Detroit. I don't think this one should be close. Brice: Yeah, I agree with you. I don't think New Orleans has much to go off this year. Detroit still has a lot of stars, so Josh DeMage: Next one. This one's an intriguing game to me. The New York Jets excuse me, I swallowing ice cube. Go to Tennessee, play the Titans. Tennessee's new coach, Robert Sala, recently fired from the Jets. A little bit of a revenge game. I'll go first. ⁓ I I just think the Jets are terrible. I'll take the young Tennessee Titans. Robert Sall historically has always had good defenses. I haven't I believe he can slow down the Jets and I believe Cam Ward and ⁓ Carnell Tate and Wandell Robinson, the new look jet or new look Titans can get some points on the board at home and get a win. Brice: I think Tennessee does have some young players. I'm excited to see Carnell pay play. I think ⁓ the Jets are just horrible as well, so Josh DeMage: Good afternoon, Roy. Roy: Welcome, welcome, welcome, what's going on? Josh DeMage: All right, we're gonna just backtrack for you, Roy, and I'm gonna steamroll it through you. We're not we're just gonna catch you up. New England goes to Seattle for Super Bowl rematch tomorrow night. Seattle at home, who you got? Roy: I'm gonna go to New England. Josh DeMage: Okay. Mike Vrable lover over there. Roy: ⁓ I just think it's teams got a little more prepared. Josh DeMage: Okay. In Australia, the San Francisco Giants will take on the Los Angeles Rams and there will be no Aaron Donald in this game. He does not want to fly. who you got? San Fran again or the Rams? Roy: ⁓ Rams, even with Don even without Donald. Darnold, I think it's still gonna be still be them. Josh DeMage: Next one. Next one, the newly ⁓ locked in contract, Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, gonna go to the high powered offense in Cincinnati to play the Bengals. Who you got? Roy: I am going to go with the Buccaneers. Josh DeMage: Hey, got some different ones than me and Bryce. Me and Bryce have yet to choose one different, so Roy: I think it's gonna be sho I wanna be I think it'll be a shootout. Josh DeMage: Yep. Next one, New Orleans goes to Detroit. Roy: I'm gonna go Detroit. Josh DeMage: Yeah. And then the one that we just got done talking about, the New York Jets, ⁓ who fired Robert Salah, going to the newly hired Tennessee Titan, Robert Salah. Roy: Wow. ⁓ man, that's a terrible ⁓ Tennessee's got one and a half favorite. I'll take Tennessee. Brice: Mm-hmm. Josh DeMage: Okay. And Roy, welcome you've got up. So I'll r I'll lead in. Baltimore will travel to Indy to play the ⁓ pa I almost said the Pacers. The Colts. ⁓ Roy, I'll let you go first on this one. Roy: I really am think the Colts are sorry, the Ravens are gonna be a team that we're gonna be everybody's gonna be surprised about how good their defense and everybody's gonna I'm gonna go with the Ravens. Josh DeMage: Okay. I'll go next. Yeah, I don't yeah, I'm assuming Daniel Jones is playing, isn't he? So yeah, I mean if he can I their receiving room r worries me a little bit. They always play well at home historically. Jonathan Taylor, I think, could run the ball well against Baltimore. New look Baltimore. My gut tells me indie, but I just can't get off of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. I'll take Baltimore. Brice: I think he is. Roy: That's what I read. Brice: I actually have a similar opinion of Josh. My gut does tell me Indy, but I am gonna take Baltimore as well. They're they're so good in the regular season. Josh DeMage: Next one. The B. John Robinson and Tua Tagaba Falcons. Yes, you heard that correctly. Travel to the Steel City to play the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers farewell tour. I'll go first on this one. New look Pittsburgh Steelers with Mike McCarthy as well. ⁓ No more defensive prowess. That's an offensive-minded football team. ⁓ I cannot trust Tua to win a football game as much as B. John Robinson to me is the best back in the NFL. I'll take Pittsburgh at home. Brice: I'm actually gonna go with Atlanta in this one. I think you're gonna see Pittsburgh take a huge step back without Mike Tomlin. ⁓ they're not gonna be that team that's always in it. I think they're gonna have really good games and they're gonna have really bad games. And I think first game of the season, new coach, ⁓ Aaron Rodgers is old. I've I just trust Atlanta more. Roy: Two is not very good. I I really think the defense is good for the Steelers. ⁓ Aaron Rodgers will look good probably for about three games and then look like shit. So I think this will be one of his average games. I'm not gonna say looks good, I'm gonna say he'd look average. So I think he'll be alright. Steelers will win this game. Josh DeMage: Yep. Next one, Bears or Bryce's Chicago Bears travel to the NFC South winners of last year, the Carolina Panthers. ⁓ Bryce, I'll let you go first on this one. Brice: Yeah, I'm taking Chicago. Josh DeMage: Greatly said. Roy, what do you got? Roy: Yeah, I think Chicago probably win. I don't think the Panthers are too young. I think they're gonna take a little bit to get going. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I I'm in agreement, but this feels middle of the season to me this is a trap game. Especially cause Chicago's kinda banged up right now, especially early. I still think they're the better team with the injuries. But feels like that trap game that, you know, Chicago should win and kinda goes into Carolina and, you know, to get down early. I'm not just saying that 'cause Bryce's team is Chicago, they are banged up. And at the end of the day, Carolina won some games they probably shouldn't have last year. ⁓ maybe it rolls into this year, but I still think Chicago has enough talent to win. ⁓ hello Mr. Yogi. Next one, Buffalo goes to Houston, two ⁓ playoff teams of last year. Bryce, I'm gonna have you go first on this one. Brice: I'm going with Buffalo. I s I still think Houston probably has the best, if not top two, defense in the league. But Josh Allen getting DJ Moore, I think CJ Stroud is terrible. I don't see him ever repeating his rookie season. ⁓ I think teams just kinda figured him out. So I'm taking Buffalo. Roy: Okay. Josh DeMage: again, this one feels like a trap game. I agree with you, Bryce Houston's defense is really good. I they're gonna slow Josh Allen the Bills down. Now, what will DJ Moore and, you know, maybe a some of that offense look like? I'm not exactly sure, but I just don't trust Houston to score the ball if they need to, even if Buffalo's defense isn't great. They're healthy and you they're never healthy, but they are right now. So I'll take Buffalo on the road. Roy: ⁓ I th I actually think Buffalo yeah, I think Buffalo will win this game. I think their defense has been way better. ⁓ they've upgraded in a lot of better positions. Texans defense is good. They're gonna be top five defense. The problem with their offense, I mean, I like David Montgomery. He's thirty years old. Can he hit his body how long will his body last? CJ Stroud just cannot take these hits. ⁓ we'll just have to I don't think this is gonna be I think this is gonna be a tough year for Texans. But they're in a weak division, so but they'll lose this week. Josh DeMage: Next one, Cleveland goes to Saxonville. ⁓ I'll go first. I think Cleveland's got some exciting wide receivers. ⁓ Boston especially, and ⁓ KC Concepcion. But I I mean their quarterback play is probably gonna be horrendous, so I'll take Jacksonville. Brice: Yeah, I don't think this game will be very close. The only thing that kept Cleveland in games last year was Miles Garrett and he's gone now, so Roy: Yeah, Jacksonville. I mean, what the I I mean, there'll be Deshaun Watson people just throwing stuff out. I mean it's gonna be it horrible. I mean it's gonna be terrible. So but Jacksonville win. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Next one, I don't know why. I'm very intrigued for this game. I just think it's a funny matchup. Miami goes to Las Vegas to play Kirko Chains and the Las Vegas Raiders confirmed starter. I don't know. I think Miami is maybe the worst team I've seen in a long time on paper. But man, I don't know about Kirko Chains. Hopefully the indoor setting sets them well. Vegas is at home, I'll take Vegas, but I I don't really know about this one. Brice: Yeah, this game I can't decide if I think that the Jets Titans game is gonna be worse than this one. But I think just the more experienced quarterback is probably gonna be the factor in this game. Roy: I am going to take Vegas just because Vegas has them as three and half point favorites. So that is why I'm taking the Raiders. Josh DeMage: Next one NFC North ⁓ showdown. Green Bay is gonna head north to play Minnesota. Bright, so I'll let you go first on this one. Brice: I'm gonna go with Green Bay. I think that they're pretty banged up right now, but I think Minnesota's quarterback play is just terrible right now and I I don't think that their running backs are that good anymore. It's it's just Justin Jefferson out there really in my opinion. Josh DeMage: Roy. Roy: I am gonna go to Minnesota. See, I think they're run I think Jordan Mason as their running back is a ⁓ is a gonna be top tier in the league. ⁓ They're gonna be able to run that ball. Their their line is a little shaky, but they did do some improvements. That defense by Minnesota is tough. I mean it's it's a top five defense in the league. ⁓ Packers, they are banged up. They def they don't have the defensive guys. ⁓ you know, Micah Parsons not playing. There's gonna I think they're gonna be it's gonna be a close game, but I think Minnesota's gonna pull it out. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah, I'm torn on this one. My gut tells me Minnesota at home, but I do I do think Green Bay is the better team. They do have some injuries. I'm gonna lean with you, Roy. I'm gonna take Minnesota. Another reason that, you know, I've seen Sam Darnold play good quarterback play, and no, I mean now he is, but he really took that next step there. I think that Minnesota's coach would probably get the most out of Kyler Murray, even if it's an average quarterback. If he can just squeeze every ounce that he's got in him. So I'll take Minnesota to shock one. Maybe not shock, but you know, surprise some people. Week one. Next one, Washington goes to Philly. I'll go first. I'm gonna take Philly. But Washington has always been Philly's kryptonite. Always. I don't know what it is. They always find a way to sneak one out. And usually it's in Philly. ⁓ But I just think they're. too talented. ⁓ and I don't think Washington's that good this year. But wouldn't be surprised if Washington steals one. Brice: I'm taking Philly as well. I think that they'll be able to just play their game the whole time. They'll run the ball with Saquon, hit open receivers and Washington's defense I don't think will be able to stop that. Roy: Yeah, I just think the Eagles are gonna be too got too much talent. I think Washington's gonna have a down year just because of the just I mean, Jaden Daniels is good, but I don't think that he has everything around him ⁓ to keep to keep the keep a I have not been a I'm not been a Ste Stefan Diggs fan or a McLaren fan because I just don't think they ⁓ Stefan Diggs is way past his prime and ever since he was in Buffalo. Josh DeMage: No Stephon Diggs You're not a believer in Stefan Diggs and the scary Terry? What a Yeah. Tell you what, man, Stephon diggs in Buffalo though. some good wide receiver play. Next one. Arizona goes to the Chargers. I'll go first. ⁓ I'll take the Chargers. Brice: ⁓ Mala. Roy: Chargers. I'm not even d don't even talk about chargers. Brice: Also take the card. Josh DeMage: Then that takes us to Sunday Night Football where the Dallas Cowboys are going to MetLife to play the New York football giants. Roy, I'll let you go first on this one. Roy: ⁓ I'm gonna say Scataboo will have two touchdowns, but the Cowboys will win the ball game. Josh DeMage: Right? Brice: I'm actually in agreement with Roy. I think this will be a close game 'cause the Giants are gonna play their division rival very well and I I love the Giants. This will probably be one of the few times I don't pick them this year, but I'm gonna take Dallas. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I I think this game I think it'll be close a little bit early. John Harbaugh, you know, is gonna probably keep the game close. He's a good coach in general. I just think the game's gonna come down to ⁓ The Giants not being able to stop Dallas. ⁓ I I'm very confident the Cowboys are gonna stop the run for the most part. Yeah, could he squeak into the zone at Scatter? Sure. But I don't think he's gonna run crazy. ⁓ the pass game, that would definitely be where the Giants would want to attack. ⁓ but I don't I don't think they're gonna be able keep up with Dallas. ⁓ and then I'll take Dallas. Last one, Denver heads the Kansas City. This is a on paper, a big matchup early. ⁓ I'll go first on this one. ⁓ Pedro Mahomes is healthy in playing, they said. I love Andy Reed early in the year. Yeah, well, he's playing. Well, he's healthy enough to play. How about that? I love Andy Reed when time to prepare. You know he's going to run some tricks out there. ⁓ I just don't think they can move the ball on Denver's defense. They're too talented. ⁓ Denver's got a lot to play for this year. They probably should have been playing in the Super Bowl last year. Kind of got it taken away from them a little bit. I'll take Denver. Brice: I don't know if they said healthy, but they said he's plain. Yeah, I I'm in agreeance. I don't think Kansas City's gonna be able to move the ball that well, especially 'cause I don't know how well Patrick Mahomes is gonna be able to play. I think he came back from injury a little too early, but Roy: I agree with you, Bryce. I think ⁓ Patrick Mahomes is coming back a little too early. ⁓ can he be effective? Now will they will they be able to run the ball, Kenth Walker? I don't know. That Broncos de the Yeah, that Broncos defense though is I mean top to bottom every level is awesome. So it's they're the they are the top defense going into this season. Josh DeMage: Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker. Yeah. Brice: I am excited. I am excited to see if Andy Reid uses Justin Fields as kind of like a Taysom Hill type of player. 'Cause from what I've been reading he might, so I think I'd be Josh DeMage: Good. I tell you what, Andy Ree, when he's got time to prepare, he can draw up some football pla I don't know what that man watches or thinks or has old paper boards.
