There's gonna be a lot of trade talk in this episode. buyers, sellers, who we think's going, who we don't think's going. We a little bit of a game we're gonna play. But before that, I am gonna run through the standings. AL East Ray's Lee at 62 and 44. Yankees, game and a half back, 61 and 46, Boston 55 and 51. There's seven back of the division. Orioles 53 and 56 and the Blue Jays 50 and 59 13 and a half back. White Sox lead the AL Central 55 and 50 51, excuse me. Guardians 55 and 54. Twins 54 and 54. Tigers 51 and 58. They're 5.5 back of the division and 4 back of the wild card. And the Royals 45 and 63, 11 games back. Rangers, 55 and 52. lead the division. Two games back are the Astros fifty four and fifty five. Mariners fifty three and fifty five, two and a half back. Athletics forty five and sixty two and forty two and sixty six for the Angels. Then for the National League. The Braves sixty two and forty five six games back. Starting to make a little bit of a gap for or the Phillies fifty seven and fifty-two because they're two and eight in their last ten. Marlins fifty five and fifty-four. They're also eight games or they're eight games back, two back of wild card. Nationals 55-54, and the Mets 46-62. And then the Central 67 and 40. tied for the best record in the sport. Lead are the Brewers. Cubs 61 and 46. Pirates 55 and 54. Cardinals 53 and 54. Cardinals are also 2-8 in their last 10. And the Reds 50 and 56. And then out west the Dodgers 67 and 40. Eleven Roy Clapp: Huh. Josh DeMage: years back are the Dyingbacks fifty-seven fifty-two. Padres winners of four straight up got back over five hundred, fifty-four-fifty-three, and the Giants fifty-four-sixty two and the Rockies forty-two and sixty-six. All right, we don't really have to go over the standing so much because we're gonna get into so many trade things. We're gonna talk about the good teams and the bad teams. So I don't really wanna sit here and go over Roy Clapp: Well, the teams the teams that are they're starting to separate themselves. They're start you're s you're right right now you're starting to figure out who's who's in, who's out, who's who can make a run, that's about it. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I agree. you're starting to get to the point where, you know, I'll use the Tigers as an example. They're 51 and 58. They're seven games below 500. They're five and a half back of the division, but they're four back of the wild card. But historically, we can see the trends. You are going to need to win like 85 games. Sometimes you can get in with like 83, 84, but like. 85 is like the minimum. Usually the last team to get in will have about 85 wins. They basically have to play like win three out of every four just to get to that number. And this is the team that's seven games below 500 this far in. Are they going to win three out of every four the entire rest of the way? It's like a 10% chance. Now it's hot it's possible. Usually. Yeah, so. Roy Clapp: They could. If they got if they got some hitting. Their pitching's good, if their hitting sucks. Josh DeMage: But like I I it's hard to say because Yes, they're only four games back, but it just seem it's just harder when you get this late to catch up four games when especially a wild card, you're not playing that team that's the wild you know, and you Roy Clapp: See, I think they have a better shot at like teams like them. So I think the central, AL Central and AL West, because of the closeness of the they are and they're n just barely above five hundred. I mean White Sox are four games above five hundred. Texas is three games above five hundred and they're leading the division. I think because of that, you're gonna see maybe a team that wins a division with eighty wins or less. But just because of how bad that division, those two divisions are. you're not gonna see any of the rest of the divisions. Just Josh DeMage: Yeah. Yeah. Roy Clapp: those two divisions are so weak this year, have been so bad that you're gonna see a a team that's eighty you know, eighty one and eighty one probably win a division or something. Josh DeMage: Yeah. No, I agree. I mean there's usually always one stinker that finds their way in, so but Roy Clapp: Mm-hmm. And that's or this this year it's gonna be two. Josh DeMage: you know you know, I l full schedule is eve five hundred is eighty two and eighty two. You look at the White Sox, they're you know, three or four games over. What's three or four games over? Eighty two, eighty five, eighty six. So that's about the number, you know, that the worst team will get in. Roy Clapp: I didn't I could see him being under five hundred. I could see somebody in that West being under five hundred and winning that division. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I mean I could I could see a world where it happens. Do I think it will? Probably not, but could it happen? I mean absolutely. Only one team is over 500. So No. Yeah. Roy Clapp: Wouldn't be it was just like football. yeah. And they're not that good. They're I mean, they're minus eighteen in run defen differential, so Josh DeMage: So. Alright. we are Ooh, I didn't think about this. We are gonna jump into our game that we've played. And Bryce is still in last at 323. Roy Clapp: Yep. Josh DeMage: Roy, you were in second at 334. Only eleven ahead of Bryce. Bryce has really made some ground the last week. his teams have rolled. And then I'm two ahead of you, Roy, at three thirty-six. and Bryce is only thirteen back of the lead, and he was like twenty something back earlier. So he's Roy Clapp: Yeah. Josh DeMage: made up some good ground. this is the day where we're gonna be able to change. Roy Clapp: I figured since he's not on here we'd probably just do it after some Josh DeMage: Yeah. I don't think he's gonna make any changes based off how he's he made some changes last month and th everyone's been good. I don't think he's gonna make any. The only one I think he could make is Red Sox for Blue Jays. That's about it. But Roy Clapp: Well he just said nah, he's not making any. Josh DeMage: Okay. So then Roy that I did and I didn't think he would. That was about the only one. So Roy, I'm gonna give it up to you. You have the next pick as a second. What changes would you like, if any? That gives it up to me and I am also going to be making a change. I'm gonna drop the athletics. They were g good for the first three months of the season. They've been really bad this month. Roy Clapp: Who you gonna take? Josh DeMage: And I am going to be adding the Minnesota Twins. Roy Clapp: I thought about them, but I Josh DeMage: Yep. I'm gonna add the twins. Roy Clapp: think they're gonna sell some pieces. Josh DeMage: I think they could sell some pieces. I've also read they're gonna add a little bit. I'll I'll give it away. I don't think Byron Buxton gets moved because of his no trade clause. Roy Clapp: I don't either. Josh DeMage: And the way I've looked at them, they're a 500 team right now. The athletics are not a 500 team right now. So I'm going to take Roy Clapp: no. Josh DeMage: just a few of like if I can steal just a few of those extra wins being 500 in a tier three, I'm gonna take it down the stretch. So But I need to change what is this? B 14. Alright. Josh DeMage: Alright, that's gonna do it for our game. but this is the real game of the week. the trade deadline is Monday at five, six. It's later than normal time wise, but it's like five or six. Roy Clapp: Monday the third, yep. Josh DeMage: There's gonna be pieces moved. So we made a game and I made 30 names of, you know, common people who could get traded. I even threw some names in there that maybe don't get traded, so you can say, you know, same team. but I wanted to, you know, I didn't want to just have, you know, relievers that are like almost guaranteed to be moved somewhere. I didn't want it just full of relievers. so there are a couple, but Roy Clapp: I might give you some give you some teams after. Josh DeMage: we'll see. So Bryce's name is in here, so I'm gonna delete him because he's not gonna be participating in this. That's true. I mean he can add it, but yeah. All Roy Clapp: Yep. Josh DeMage: right, Roy. The basically the Rays, Yankees, and Red Sox, unless they just collapse comes who wins the division will be the question. but those three teams are in the in the playoffs and I think they're I think they'll sell sell pieces. I think their problem is the one they the people they want to sell, they can't get rid of. As we'll talk about here in a little while. Josh DeMage: Okay. Next one is going to be Sonny Gray of the Boston Red Sox. I made this list a few days ago. I do think the Boston Red Sox are going to buy a little bit. I also think they could drop some pieces, you know. I'm not I think to add some maybe major league talent, maybe you give away some major league talent. It doesn't have to just be prospects. but I do not think Sonny Gray is gonna be on the move anymore. I do think he's gonna stay with the Red Sox. Roy Clapp: August. I think CJ Abrams will be traded and I have him going to the Brewers. Josh DeMage: Yeah. A little bit. All right, next one. This is a hot name right now. A lot of people have mixed emotions. Roy Clapp: Mm-hmm. Josh DeMage: CJ Abrams of the Washington Nationals, maybe one of the hottest hitters in the sport as we speak. Roy, where do you think CJ Abrams is playing April or Roy Clapp: The Giants. Josh DeMage: April? August fourth. The Milwaukee Brewers. Wow. Alright, that would be a hell of a trade. Roy Clapp: Damn. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I I think teams could get I think when you get a player that's red hot, I mean sizzle on red hot, who is young and controlled. So that helps even more for a package. But when you get someone this hot, sometimes I think teams are gonna not give up what the Nationals will want. And I have them staying, because they do not need to move them, but I have them staying in Washington for the year. Next Roy Clapp: I th thought you'd have more Giants on there 'cause I really think the Giants are going to sell a lot. I really do. Posey is really about rebuilding this team. he's not afraid to trade anybody. I really thought, you know, I think Redevers and I think Rise will be traded and I have him to the Rays as well. I really think that's who he's going to. Josh DeMage: one, we have another middle infielder. I have Luis Arrias of the W of Roy Clapp: are trying to get him and there might be a him and Chapman involved into a third second type thing. But I just don't know how you're gonna get how you're gonna get what you're gonna what's his name? Dumbass, a second right now. Jazz, I can't stand so Josh DeMage: Of the San Francisco Giants could have been on the wrong cut wrong part of the country. I'm going first on this one. I do think Luis Arise is moved. And I think there is one team that could use a leadoff hitter at the top of the order, and I think that team is the Tampa Bay Rays. Roy Clapp: Do too. And I think that we I think the Yankees need him. They need somebody who can at least put the ball in play on a regular basis. Josh DeMage: They love their contact hitters. And he they could use a second baseman, and I think he could fit in there. Roy Clapp: The Angels are on their team that's going to trade quite a bit from what they w they're they're turn they need to get pieces back. They're their farmsist is not very good. They only trade and this is one of them read de daters. Detmers, Josh DeMage: Yeah. Roy Clapp: I mean. I think socks I think the White Sox are motivated to get a pitching and I think that's a perfect for them. Josh DeMage: Rays as well. Yeah, I could see the Red Sox as well. It's another team I debated. Roy Clapp: yeah. I they they're just going the opposite way. Josh DeMage: they haven't had much at second most of the season. Roy Clapp: Mm-hmm. Josh DeMage: Yeah, y Roy Clapp: I agree. I think he'll stay with the twins. They've floated his name around what the l Josh DeMage: Jazz. Roy Clapp: on the trade deadline. I th I d I don't think he wants to go anywhere. I think he's d would rather stay there. so he's he's a he's a twin. Josh DeMage: I would lo I've always liked Luis Horaze. I don't know how much he fits. I agree. Yep. Next one, Angels left hander, Reed Detmers. Roy, I'm gonna let you go first. Roy Clapp: I I think they wanna trade him, I just don't think they w they get what they want. So I think he stays with the twins. they they float his name really wanted him to get, but I just I don't think they're gonna get what they want and he'll just remain a twin. Josh DeMage: Chicago White Sox. Well Roy, I'm gonna tell you something really funny. I don't have him going to the White Sox, but again I got going to the same city. I got going to the Chicago Cubs. So w obviously we both think the Cubs and White Sox need some starting pitching. We just don't agree on who. Yeah. That's funny. All right, next one, Byron Buxton, a name that has been floated for a while. he Roy Clapp: I agree. I'm not a believer that th that many k people are gonna be traded. that could and I think he'll stay as an adjunct. I don't think they'll trade him. Josh DeMage: does have a full no trade clause, so it's his decision. I just don't think he wants to leave in the at all. I don't know why, but he doesn't. So I'm gonna say he stays with the twins. Roy Clapp: And I have him going to the rays. I think they need some relievers and I think that's what they kinda wanna do, so just another bullpen gum Josh DeMage: Next one, Roy, his teammate Joe Ryan, almost was dealt at the deadline last year to the Boston Red Sox. Roy Clapp: for Josh DeMage: Deal fell through, didn't go all the way through, whatever. back on the market again this year. What you think? Yeah. Yeah, I agree with you. I think he stays. I d I think if the twins were at a lower place in the standings, I think they might actually move Joe Ryan, 'cause I think they wanted to move him last year. They just didn't get the capital they wanted. this year I don't think they really want to sell as much as people think. so I'm gonna have him stand. Next one. Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena. this one I'm torn about. Roy Clapp: Well, last week and he hit a home run about f five rows away from me. Suck. They they're in they're in it. They're not they're gonna add capital, not not take guys like that away. Josh DeMage: Part of me doesn't think he'll be moved because I the Astros owner is historically not one to be a seller. there's a fit that I like. The problem is I just don't think the Astros are going to move him at the end of day. So I'm gonna have him at staying with the Astros. Roy Clapp: Yep, he will be traded and I think the team that wants to get him is the Mariners. I think they're the w I think the Mets are gonna ask too much for a lot of these guys and I think that but I think the he'll Mariners are who where he'll go. Josh DeMage: Yep. Next one, Foster Griffin of the Nationals having a renaissance year in Washington after a year in the KBO playing Japan baseball. having a great year. I looked at his stats the other day. He's actually been really good, just all around. It's not like he's just not striking people out and he's getting ground balls. He's been good at basically everything all year. and that's why the Nationals are still in the playoff hunt. Roy, I'll let you go first. What do you think for Foster Griffin? Yep. I also think he's going to be on the move. I think this just makes sense for them in general. I do have him moving, but I have him moving to the Texas Rangers. The Texas Rangers have a solid rotation, but they could always use more arms. Roy Clapp: That's funny. I haven't go I just I read an article on from Jeff Pass Passan Passon. bad that he that they trade him, what will they give back in return? And that's pretty much what it's it's basically come down if they just traded. Josh DeMage: They could always move some guys that are in their back end of their rotation of the bullpen. And they're currently leading the ALS. I mean, if there's ever a time to add, they don't have to give up a whole lot to get Foster Griffin. But to go get, you know, one more player to help the playoff series, you never know. That lineup always has the potential to get hot with Corey Seeger in it, Brandon Nimo in it now, Wyatt Roy Clapp: Well what they get w the equal value, you know, the what it will they equal the value what they got from last y from the That's what I'm saying. That that's that's what he was saying, was the ha what kind of value will they get for that? Josh DeMage: Langford. So I'm gonna go with the Texas Rangers. Next one, Wilson Contreras, another one that kind of has fallen off after the last Roy Clapp: No, I just wanna say but he'll go he'll go to the brewers. I'm saying what I'm saying and the brewers went guy what that what the Mets gave him to get the brewers, what kind of value will he get from going back to the brewer? Josh DeMage: few weeks but I'm gonna have him staying in Boston. But he's having a great year if you've ever gotten a chance to look at his stats. Roy Clapp: No, I don't either. But I what I'm s what I'm saying is what kind of value will they get back? Is the c was the question. Josh DeMage: Next one, we're going across this town of the Yankees. We're owing to the Mets. They're gonna sell. We're gonna have some Mets coming up now. First name on the list, Luke Weaveroy, and you get to go first on this one. Roy Clapp: I have thought he was gonna get traded for weeks. I I think they wanna trade him and he yeah, he the only Josh DeMage: Yeah, I I could see a few teams on this one. Roy Clapp: team that can get the what they went for him and the and I think with the with says this now, and this'll be a guy th this'll be the one guy they're going after with that starting rotation. Josh DeMage: But a team that always has bullpen issues and he's got a he's actually got a two-year deal. So that he is not a free agent at the end of the year. I do believe this team wants to win more than anyone, and I am gonna have him go into the Los Angeles Dodgers. Next one, it's gonna be his teammate Roy, Freddie Peralta. just dealt there to speak before the season. Hasn't worked out. Expiring deal. will one hundred percent be on the move. And I am going back to an old stomping ground. I have him going back to Milwaukee. They apparently they have they're interested in him. Obviously he was great there. I don't know what has happened in the Queens, but if Brewers don't have to give up much, bring him back and they get their ace back. I mean that's just a absolutely win-win. So I am going back to Milwaukee. Roy Clapp: I think this has been a non clue conclusion. He's a Yankee. I think that waiting for C what get closer and closer to trade with the trade. I think he yeah, it what was it? John Heyman said it was it's it's pretty much a done it was that's Jeffers and Yankees and depending on what they can agree upon. And so I think he's a Yankee. I think J Astro. I don't think they're gonna move him. I think the Astros will move one of them. Josh DeMage: What's that? absolutely not. I mean his value's tinked right now. He has almost no value. I mean a little bit, but no. So do you have Roy Clapp: I do not think he'll be moved. I think well they're gonna try to make d do what they got with the rest of their pitching staff and I think he's one of that's gonna stay and they'll just still just try to f try to and you know, all the rest of Josh DeMage: Gotcha. Tyreek Scuble, the biggest name on the market. Two weeks ago I thought he was being traded. Last week I didn't think he was going anywhere. This week I think he's Roy Clapp: I do think I'm gonna try to get some value out of him. And I do the Red Sox. I think the Red Sox I think they need a catcher and I think the Yankees would like him, but I think they're gonna the Red Sox will outbid him. Josh DeMage: getting traded. Next week I don't think he's going anywhere. This is not what I think they should do. This is what I think they will do. I think they're gonna move him. They have they're slipping at the wrong time this week. W I know last week I didn't think he was going anywhere. But you lose a couple games and all of a sudden you're five, six back. You have to trade him to get value. And there's no other team that will get him other than the Dodgers. So he is gonna be a Los Angeles Dodger. Roy Clapp: Mm. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Next one, this guy's been on the market for a long time, supposedly, but he's been hurt. Ryan Jeffers, catcher of the Minnesota Twins. expiring contract. The Twins currently carry three catchers on their roster, so it kind of makes sense. I do think he's moved, and I just don't think the Yankees are gonna be outbid. It it's so clear the Yankees have to have a catcher right-handed catcher. Usually when it's super clear the Yankees do try to make their move. Now, could another team like the Red Sox outbid them? Sure. That absolutely could be. But they don't usually miss on something they truly want. especially for someone like Ryan Jeffers who is really not gonna cost a whole lot. I do have him going to the Yankees. Yeah. Next one, Josh Hater. Roy, I'll let you go first on this one. Yeah, yeah, I kinda mix. I really think he fits on a lot of teams, but I also don't know if any team will take on the money. I want to pick I want to have him on the move. I just don't think he ends up getting moved. I'm going to keep him on the Astros. Next one, Detroit Tigers starter Casey Myes on an expiring deal. It's a theme you're going to hear with lot of these guys. I will be going first. I do think Casey Myes is on the move. And I think he's got a good home in Atlanta. I think he's going to be a brave. Roy Clapp: Yeah. Josh DeMage: Next one, Hunter Goodman of the Colorado Rockies. Probably the best catcher on on the market. You know, his name's been tossed. I don't know if he's actually on the market. Roy, you're up first. Okay. I do not think he's gonna be moved. I think it would take an absolute haul to get him. I just don't know how many teams are going to give out a haul for a catcher. I hope to god it's not the Red Sox 'cause Hunter Goodman is a great catcher. I would love the Yankees to get him over Ryan Jeffers, but you're lagging out here a little Roy Clapp: Can you hear me? I believe I'm up first on this one. I do believe Kevin Gosman will be traded. And I think he's not gonna cost a lot. He's on the older side. I think the Tampa Bay Rays is a great fit for him. should be ex cheap. He's proven and the Rays could always use a little bit more starting pitching. I'm gonna have him go into the Rays. Roy Clapp: n I I agree. I I think he'll be moved. I don't think it's the Raves. I have him going to the Braves. I think the Braves need a starter pitcher and I think he they can get him for not what I mean not for very much and I think that's I think that's a perfect fit for the Braves. Josh DeMage: Yeah. Next one, Taylor Ward of the Baltimore Orioles. Roy, I'm gonna let you go first on this one. Roy Clapp: Yeah, I think Taylor Ward will be moved. I think the Oriol Orioles are I mean, they don't have much to move besides I mean the younger guys and they're not gonna move them. So I think this is one guy they will and I have the Mariners taking him. Josh DeMage: Yeah, I don't really know where he fits. one team I could see, I just don't know if they'll move a whole lot to get him, but I think he could fit in their outfield. I'm gonna have him go into the Guardians. Next one, Dustin May of the St. Louis Cardinals. I'm gonna go first on this one. I think Dustin May, they got him last year, and it didn't work out. I think they're gonna try it again. I think the Boston Red Sox are gonna make a move to go get Dustin May again. Roy Clapp: I do not think he'll be moved. I think he'll stay a St. Louis Cardinal and just stay stay where he's at. Josh DeMage: Right. Next one, former Yankees legend, Glaber Torres. Actually hadn't heard this name until a couple days, and I've heard it quite a bit since the last couple days. Glaber Torres, Roy. Do you think he gets moved? Roy Clapp: I do not. And I got a trade in my head, and I chose this trade to pick the teams. Give me a player in the last 30 years or since 2020 or tw 2000, around that range of years, who has played for the Red Sox and the Nationals. Now they do not have to have been traded, but like Red Sox and Nationals, I thought to myself of a trade, and that's what made me think of these teams. So team a player that has played for the Red Sox and the Nationals in the last 30 years, 26. Who? one of the V J Upton. Yeah, let's look. BJ Upton is not the one that played for the Red Sox. Justin Upton. I know one of did. Hold on, none of them played for Boston. Nope. So I chose the player that was in this trade that I thought of in my head. I went, Well, I thought of the trade. Let me just pick him. Kyle Schwarber, after he left the Cubs, the Nationals signed him, moved him to outfield and first base, and then the Red Sox needed a first baseman and traded for him. And they actually beat the Yankees in a wild card game, a singular wild card game. And Kyle Schwarber was a first baseman, so I went with Kyle Schwarber. One year and both, not even a full year. Yep, he played five years in Chicago. They moved him to Washington. or maybe he finished his six years in Chicago. And then he went to Washington, played three fourths this season, got dealt to the Red Sox. He played there played first base there for the rest of the season, finished the season and then signed in Philly. So that's it. All right, I win this one. Again.
