Jason Corley: with. But anyways, let's start this on, bitch, because he's he's running and ready to go. And he's probably going to come into the lobby any minute. So ⁓ I will snap the ready. Three, two, ⁓ one. Welcome everybody to the travel dad's podcast brought to you by Bart's town bourbon and Green River whiskey I am your host Jason Corley alongside my amigo Jacob Moreno: Jacob Moreno, Bienvenidos a otro episodio de Travel Dance Podcast. Not much man, just got done, got off work, ate dinner real quick and now we're here. What about you? Jason Corley: What's up, man? Yeah, it's so much better with the bald head now. I hope the fans give us some feedback on this. Like it's you look so much you look so much more normal now without the like I do like the I do like it when you wear a hat every now and then but I hate it when you wear the hat backwards because then it looks like you have like a yamaka on like a like a full yamaka like the yamaka that covers like the whole scalp. ⁓ A scully yeah it's like a scully but it scully doesn't fit right because it's like all wrinkled when you're Jacob Moreno: Thank Yeah, a scully. Yeah. Jason Corley: when it's on your head with your headphones. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, I'll put Brainly. I'll wear Brainly's cully next time. Jason Corley: Or you could just stay bald, just keep it shaved. I mean, that's your in right there. Like, I don't know, like, not a hair place, but like Manscape, like Mans, yeah, like Manscape as a sponsor with your bald head. So I'm, but I'm not, I'm not shaving. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Yeah. Manscaped? Yeah. Or should we try, should we try hems so I can grow my hair? Jason Corley: Is that what you want with hims? Is that, is that what you want? Jacob Moreno: I guess I didn't even think about that all the way through. Jason Corley: that's like the smallest category with that company is him. Or I mean, his hair growth. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. Yeah. ⁓ whatever. Yeah. Whatever you need. Sure. Hey, listen, if hims wants to reach out and they want to be part of the, if they want to partner with us, we will gladly, I will, I will, I will, I will, this table will be littered with hair growth products and blue pills. So yeah. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, yeah, it was hair. Well, whichever works, if they want to reach out. Ugh. Jason Corley: Anyways, ⁓ nothing man, just let's see, just a busy day, just busy, busy day. ⁓ You know, this back to back and then tomorrow the day off, it's supposed to rain tonight. So I'm trying to get the garden planted. ⁓ And that's not going very great because I've been dealing with software issues of the podcast and long conversation with our buddy Skyler today, just about some business adventures that, you know, he's being proposed to. He wants to kick, you know, Jacob Moreno: What's up with you man? Jason Corley: get my feedback on and same kind of thing. So yeah. And, ⁓ trying to think who else did I have a conversation with today? I don't think anybody else as far as that goes. ⁓ the thing with Danny is going over great. ⁓ Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Yes, I was at a spot that was gonna be my next thing to that although, you know, just seeing the response on Instagram and on the page like That looks like I mean that was a good conversation there Jason Corley: Yeah, like, I mean, I knew he was going to be good because I knew he was smart, but his just his presentation of it. ⁓ I just yeah, I knew it. I knew he was going to kill and he did. And the just the amount of people that are sharing the clips because they find it relevant or they agree with it or you know what mean is really, really remarkable when it comes. He might be he might be our most shared guest to this. Jacob Moreno: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yes. Yep. Jason Corley: as far as the clips go. I don't know what the podcast numbers will actually do as far as the downloads. ⁓ Right now, I think, if I'm not mistaken, this is just between you and me. I don't really want anybody to know about this or hear about this, but I think ZT has beaten MVP Hustle in everything. Are they? Are they still? Jacob Moreno: Yeah, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Yeah, because I hop on just about every other day just to look to see, you know, look at the numbers and I was like, yeah, yeah. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah, so ⁓ I don't know. Yeah, it'll I'm trying a new mic tonight. I'm sitting at a table tonight. Last night I was really comfortable talking to Danny, even though you weren't there. I was comfortable because I was at the kitchen table and I had some I had something to do with my hands. Yeah, which was putting them right in front of me and lean forward and ⁓ so forth. But let's talk about tonight's guest. So tonight's guest is ⁓ turning into basically would you Jacob Moreno: Mm-hmm. Yeah, instead of being right here, tuck. Jason Corley: How would you explain this dude? He's turning into our coach Saban, right? He's, he's our resident. Yeah. He's smart. He's turning into our resident coach. He has not bought a segment yet. So, I mean, he hasn't sponsored his own segment yet, but maybe after, you know, after tonight we can, we can work something out there. You would think that he would at least buy his own segment, right? Like, come on, man. Like, I don't know. Or yeah. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, Coach Saban, our resident coach, our resident travel baseball coach. Don't. You Yeah, I mean... Come on, coach. Jason Corley: And I don't need any free Bruce bolts. I don't wear Bruce bolts. but tonight we're we're having coach Adrian from SBA and we're thrilled to have him on and we've got some fun stuff. We've got some serious stuff. There's a couple different topics that we want to cover with him. Why is he calling me right now? He's literally calling him. Jacob Moreno: No, neither do we, so. She probably can't log on. Jason Corley: Coach, you are live on the air, what's up? uh... nope you set the click on and if it's not working i'll let you know more positive but uh... yeah just answered the phone on the podcast so whenever you want to join just come on in i can work i can i can work a lot of magic on the back and don't worry about it all right love you back just told coach a dream that i love them Jacob Moreno: Yeah, yeah. We're going to close that out. Jason Corley: All right, we're going to let him in. Yeah, probably. Yeah, that wouldn't that might that might be the straw that breaks. It was back. So, yeah, literally, literally. So. ⁓ You're like, you probably can't log on. Jacob Moreno: Okay, let me... Literally. Literally. ⁓ let see. Hmm. And if by chance, I don't even know if you sent him notes. Jason Corley: No, I didn't send him notes. No, I just sent him, I sent him a couple things that I wanted to talk about that you're going to know. Um, well, they're not like, they're just, Hey, what do do to prepare for the tournament and stuff like that? Um, and then I did not give him the questions that you're going to ask him from Danny. He does not know that those are coming. He just knows that there's. Yeah. Yeah. He just knows that there's secret questions coming that he can't, he's not allowed to get a heads up to. Um, yeah. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, dude, I was dying when I read these. And then what was the one thing you verified yesterday? I meant to call you and ask you that behind the scenes. You said you had some questions that you had to verify, make sure that it was true and made another phone call. Jason Corley: Alright, so guess he's not coming on yet. verified. Jacob Moreno: When we're talking about the questions, I think I know which question it has to do with. Jason Corley: ⁓ well, no, because he mentioned something about, did he say something about the jelly? Did he comment later and say something about the jelly? Jacob Moreno: ⁓ maybe, yeah. Jason Corley: And I was so, but I don't remember there being anything in there about jelly. I don't. Yeah, it has something to do with those dumb questions. That's all. And I think maybe. I don't know, man. I don't know. I'm losing my. Jacob Moreno: Mm-mm. I think it's someone you have me, you're have me ask. Jason Corley: Okay. All right. I don't remember because I don't remember who I would have. I don't remember who I would have talked to. Yeah, I don't remember who I would have talked to that would have verified that because I didn't talk. I talked to JD today and that was I told you that yesterday so that wouldn't have made any sense. So who knows man? I'm losing. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. And then I did get another good question on Instagram. Yeah. Jason Corley: Yeah, he told me he Yeah. So tonight will be fun. And then ⁓ Jacob Moreno: And this might go for you. This might pertain more to you than him. Jason Corley: Hmm. Okay. Okay. It'll be interesting. Yeah. From anonymous. Okay. Well, hey, you know, I listen, here's an idea. Before he comes on. Why don't you tell everybody who made this possible? And how Jacob Moreno: But he's for both of you guys, he's from Anonymous. Yeah, he- ⁓ shit, you got me. You got me, partner. ⁓ I was too busy looking at the questions and you got me, partner. Sorry guys, ⁓ very unprepared today. Jason Corley: I am not cutting this out dude. It is just going to just linger and linger and linger. Bro, do you even know where... I thought you had him do this stuff. Okay. Jacob, why don't you tell everybody who made this that it's impossible to write? Jacob Moreno: Yeah, it's right here. It's right here. Let's pull. Hold up, hold up, hold up. Time out. Give me two seconds. Jason Corley: ⁓ man. Jacob Moreno: Okay. Go ahead, say it again. Jason Corley: Jacob, why don't you let everybody know who made tonight's episode possible? Jacob Moreno: Man, I was prepared for this one. All right. Quick shout out to our guys at Bardstown Bourbon and Green River Whiskey, because let's be real after a full day at the fields, sitting in those chairs, chasing foul balls, dealing with the weather and those other sibling kids, you've earned it. These are two of the best in the bourbon game right now. Smooth, high quality, no shortcuts. So whether it's a big tournament win or just surviving the weekend, pour yourself some good. Barshtown Bourbon Green River Whiskey, making travel-ball weekends a little better. Jason Corley: Hey folks, are going to, are joined right now by our resident coach, coach Adrian from SBA. Hey buddy! Adrian Bellew: Showtime. Jacob Moreno: Hey coach! Jason Corley: Look at you. Look at you. Good. Can you hear us all all right? Adrian Bellew: doing. I can, I can hear you and I can see a blurry Jacob. Jason Corley: Yeah. Jacob Moreno: Damn, it's always me. You're not the only one that says that. Everybody says I'm blurry. Jason Corley: It's alright. Adrian Bellew: That's okay, it all looks good whenever Jason gets done with it. has you, you know. Jason Corley: I told you, I told you guys, I'm like, you just have to trust me. Like I can, I can take all these pieces and I can put them together and you guys will be like, huh, had no idea Jacob looked, you didn't even know Jacob had a bald head probably till today, did you? Adrian Bellew: No, I honestly, I think we're a couple episodes away from him having a full head of hair and being down 30 pounds. It's amazing what you can do after the fact. Jason Corley: Hehehehehe Coach, what's going on? How was your day? Adrian Bellew: ⁓ man, it's one of those days, know, ⁓ a lot of weird phone calls. Nothing I'm sharing on the air, so I shouldn't even say it. Jason Corley: Yeah? Okay, okay, all right. Jacob Moreno: I was just going to say you want to elaborate? Jason Corley: That's... I mean, yeah, that was super shitty for all of the audience out there. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, no, mean, the longer you do it, there's some times you get some of these weird phone calls. You're like, I've never really heard that one before. Jason Corley: I feel you. How have you been preparing? How have you been preparing for this weekend coming up? Adrian Bellew: I think we should go up. Um, you know, I don't think we really get prepared for this one. Like, you know, I think it's kind of one of those things that just kind of happened. Like, unfortunately, like 13 and 14 is just coming out of middle school. So they're like, oh, let's run down the best of the best us. I kind of look at this as like a privilege tournament. You know what I mean? We get to go down there. Um, you know, they've kind of earned the right to do it. Yeah, look, we want to win it. Like we want to, we want to Jason Corley: Really? Okay. Adrian Bellew: I don't know that we, I mean, we do have a practice together before we get going, but I mean, aside from that, there's not a whole lot of, this is what we're going to do differently. I think the only difference when you go to a tournament like best of the best is you're in bracket play as soon as you cross into Florida. You know, like, you know, I think that's for everyone. you know, like, I know some people had an easier draw than others, but even on the easy draw, you got to come out and just throw bullets. Jason Corley: Yeah, I saw that. Yeah, go ahead, Jacob. Jacob Moreno: I was gonna, ⁓ I did have a question for you. I was wondering how do you, I know you guys have, you guys roster a lot of kids. How do you circle down to who you're taking or what's gonna be the best team for you to put on the field? Adrian Bellew: I mean, it's ultimately still our national team roster. Ours is a little different lately just because we were kind of by the injury bug. But for me, I get an opportunity to, we're going to throw some guys that people haven't seen yet. And those are new guys that we think, they're in our pipeline already and we think they deserve shots. Jason Corley: Okay. Adrian Bellew: And with injuries comes opportunity. ⁓ Like for us, I think I try to peak more at PGI than I do like best of best for me in my mind, just because. Jason Corley: Right, right. Okay, so I was gonna go there, but we can go there now. was gonna go there later, but I gonna, I'll just go there now. do you, is this, you still feel as though PGI is our travel ball, Super Bowl. Do you still feel that? Like, is that how you feel? Adrian Bellew: Yeah, for me, again, everyone's different. And I know this will get debated. by the way, I love some of debating stuff that goes on in the chat when you throw some of the stuff out. But I'm big on USA. I love USA. USA is a big deal to us as an academy. But I would say USA and PGI. Oh, is it? Well. Jason Corley: That's a sore subject with me. Because we didn't get to go. we were, yeah, I'm not gonna get into that on the air, I wanted him to go. And I was discouraged from going. now looking back, I regret that. And I won't make that mistake again the next time. Jacob Moreno: You didn't have to go. Adrian Bellew: I think if you ask your kids or I know if I asked mine ultimately when like I think they prioritize what we're like, what do you wish you could do? I think a lot of them would say make team USA first. ⁓ And then honestly, probably like I think the social media team Pottstown and then select fast like for me, like, you know, I think so like when even when you're taking what the kids want to do, it kind of is in alignment with what we like. Jason Corley: Yes. Adrian Bellew: Plus it's in ARIE, so it's kind of like, you know, it's kind Jason Corley: I wasn't Jacob, Jacob, I wasn't expecting him to even bring USA up. So that wasn't even on my mind. So what makes to you, why do you guys hold that in such high regard? Is it because it's local and that's where USA baseball like in Kerry? I mean, what's the, what's the draw there? Jacob Moreno: Neither was I. Adrian Bellew: I think the draw is representing the country. I think it is a prideful thing for us. had a lot of kids make Team USA last year from an SPA standpoint. My age group won the thing prior to that. And I don't know, I look up and down that tournament. It's a little bit longer bases. It's probably what the game is really going to. And I think it's the fact that it's a preview of what the next game is already because... ⁓ They're five feet longer base. Again, I'm going to throw stuff out here. I don't know if you know. ⁓ The mound is probably just a foot back. You're playing with bats that really are not trampolines. And it is the closest thing to what real baseball is on a smaller field. So they're looking for athletes. They're looking for the guys who, you know, ultimately project. ⁓ And I think that's why I like it. Jason Corley: Okay. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Adrian Bellew: And again, this is not a knock on PG. I love PG too. I love all those tournaments. Like I said, think PGI is one of the next ones for me, know, cause you know, so best of the best, you get off the bus and your bracket play. What I like about, sorry, got a phone call. I'm in the office. ⁓ Jason Corley: It's no different than Jacob's dog destroying the toy in the middle of an episode. Jacob Moreno: We'll edit that out. Adrian Bellew: Okay, what was I saying? Yeah, mean, PGI I like because it's a traditional pool play. can, you know, like when you try to go out of town and you want to bring a good roster down there and you got some development guys, you can actually get some development time and some pool play. You know, where best to best, is no such thing. It's like, boom, you got to win. If you don't win two out of the three, you're in silver. Boom. Dead. Jason Corley: Okay. Okay, all right. And so I have a question for you and I don't want to forget this before we move on to more about the PGI and best of the best and that is team like the USA. Why do they only emphasize years 12 you and then they got out like they emphasize then 15 you what happened? Why not the? Adrian Bellew: Those are the national teams. Everything else is what they call like, again, I don't want to this into a promo for USA, but like it's a 12 and under tournament. So when you go to Taiwan or this year it's Latin America, it's only 12 and under teams from all those countries. Even though I call it the 11U, it's really 12 and under. So the next team they have is 15U. Yeah, everything in between is just what they call ADP weeks. You're just making camp. Jason Corley: It's okay. You're not. We will. Right. Okay. Jacob Moreno: Mmm. Adrian Bellew: kind of snake-wind pipeline. Jason Corley: Gotcha. Okay. And is that and that's strictly because the international ⁓ the the international the game on the international side doesn't have enough kids to roster all those other age groups. So that's why they do that. Adrian Bellew: I'm not, I don't want to speculate. I'm not really sure. I don't know. Jason Corley: Okay. All right. Well, I just, I just speculated, so I don't know. I don't, don't, I don't know. I'm just curious as to why they choose those age groups and not, you know, throw in something in the, like, you know what I mean, Jacob? Like I'm just curious as to what their mindset is, is probably has to do with participation ⁓ and puberty and everything else that goes into it. Who knows? But, Adrian Bellew: Yeah. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, and I know this sounds like, I'm sure Cole Beaker is probably sitting there like people think I'm working for him right now. But also what I like about USA is that like, I just happen to have these over here, these little Panini cards. If they made Team USA, can you see these? They get their own card. They get their own card at $1,200. So it's a card that'll be there forever. So I had to buy it to get all my kids who made it, because I'm not buying them on eBay. Jason Corley: Yeah, I can see him. Okay. Right. Jacob Moreno: Man, they're expensive on eBay. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, so I want to make sure I get them and you know make sure that you know they get to see that Jason Corley: Yeah. I can't let HUD watch this clip, dude. Like this is just pouring salt on a wound right now. Like, no, no, no. But I mean, that's, that's what's so special to it because you know, that is definitely he's yeah, he's not going to miss the opportunity to try out at 15 because he knows that's it after that. ⁓ I do, ⁓ we're just, yeah, we just, yeah, we're Jacob. ⁓ Adrian Bellew: Yeah, I can do it. Sorry. Well, you got a younger son too. I mean, you know. Jacob Moreno: Well, tank, tank is. Jason Corley: ⁓ huh, yeah, Tank, we're just trying to keep Tank out of prison, Coach, is what we're trying to do at this point, okay? Jacob Moreno: Ha ha ha ha. Adrian Bellew: Well, honestly, that's why some people play college sports, is to keep them out of trouble or just to give them the class that they have alternate. Jason Corley: ⁓ Right now he's probably naked in that garden right now trying to plant something that shouldn't be planted. ⁓ yeah, no, I don't know. And I say that and that's so typical, parent, that what I just said, because like, I'm not trying to love one more than I love the other. But like the little one is just now going through the stage of being ate up with it. Jacob Moreno: Hehehehehe Jason Corley: You know what mean? The fake baseball is happening in the front yard when nobody's watching. So we're just, we're step, we're, on that stepping stone because up until this point coach, he's been nothing but just a dugout rat. You know I mean? That's just all he's ever been. And so now it's his turn and, ⁓ it is exciting. Adrian Bellew: ⁓ There's a science behind the younger brothers. Like, that is a real thing. So like, part of my interview process when I'm talking to parents is a real thing, okay? I will say, ⁓ first of all, you know, gotta weed out and make a few phone calls, make sure you're not dealing with crazy, okay? But if you can check the not crazy checklist, ⁓ if they are a younger brother to a baseball player, Jason Corley: You Adrian Bellew: ⁓ Your parents remain calm. They're not crazy. Their blood pressure is 120 over 80, even in the biggest moments. And the younger brothers are always really good. They've been around it. You don't have to talk about the things you gotta talk about with the first timers. And so you get a second time parent and you get a younger brother. I mean, that's golden. It really is. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Huh. I think there's hope, Jacob. Sounds like there's hope. Yeah. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, but you mean it's funny he says that because if you think about Brooks, I mean, how many times would you guys come up to Michigan in the wintertime and he'd be sitting on the side and all he hears, Tank, get your glove, get in here. And there he is, know, fielding ground balls, being taught by the older boys, you know, how to field a ball, throw, you know. So, I mean, I guess he's... Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Was it two years ago, Jacob? So he just turned nine. So yeah, he would have been seven and he came up for practice and we were scrimmaging the older boys and he got in the box because there was only four of us that showed up for practice. And so he was the fifth for that indoor practice against, who was that against? Jacob Moreno: Yeah. It was either a 12 or 13 new team. I it was Stout's team. Yeah. Jason Corley: Yeah, it was Stouts team. Okay, it was Stouts team. And I'll never forget. Yeah, he stood in that box and he had tears rolling down his cheeks. He was so scared. And the boys would just cheer him on and he fouled it off and everybody went nuts. Yes. Yes, it was. And I was, I mean, yeah, I was an emotional wreck because I'm just like, please, I love a guy kid. Don't let one fly because then you'll ruin this kid forever. But it is. Adrian Bellew: They go crazy, don't they? Yeah. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: I think that radio, this is another extreme. ⁓ We were in Raleigh two weekends ago and it's funny, I was talking about AJ Elliott, but we were down in Raleigh. We had a kid get hurt, he took a ball to the face, like could not finish. I happened to roster Ace Elliott, his little brother, who's not little, okay? He's a monster. He's probably one the best tenu kids in the country. And I don't know, the guy, we're playing against a really good team in the championship and that kid's pumping it. And Ace comes up, now he's gotta take his back. So he's a 10 year old playing in a 12-year majors tough tournament. The very first pitch he hit the furthest ball the entire weekend. I mean we were on big fields. I don't know how far I'll flip you the video maybe you post it when we talk about it. But this ball, mean in the left fielder literally you can see him leap up in the air up the wall and grab his poor ball. Jason Corley: Absolutely, I would love to. ⁓ hohohoho ⁓ Adrian Bellew: It was the most heartbreaking thing ever. I mean, when it left, I don't really open my mouth and drop my jaw. But when it left the back, was like, holy, I mean, got a pretty good team. So when I see a ball hit like that, I was like, wow. And this is a 10-year-old who just kind of hangs out, warms up the right fielder. And he just happened to be there. And I'm like, hey, I'm rostering him. We're already injured. You never know what's going happen. And that happened. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. That's Brooks. That's Brooks. Yeah, that is. Brooks doesn't even want to go out. He's not a bat boy. He doesn't want to be known as a bat boy. He'll go out and he'll warm up either the second basement or the left or right fielder, depending on what it is. And then, yeah, and then it's in the dugout. Now, I will say, I've had to have conversations with him like, hey, bud, ⁓ what you hear in the dugout... Jacob Moreno: That's Brooks. Hmm Don't insult it. Jason Corley: you know, it ⁓ listen, you gotta think to yourself, is this what Jesus wants you to hear? Jacob Moreno: you Adrian Bellew: I do the best we can. yeah, that's, yeah. You do the best you can. Jason Corley: But hey, listen, you do the best you can and if you raise them right, then they know the difference. You don't have to worry about it. So it is what it is. Adrian Bellew: It's coming, unfortunately, but you like to keep it out of there as much as long as you possibly can. Hey, can I grab the spotlight for a minute about this weekend? had a kid. We had a kid, and I don't know the kid very well. I've been talking to his mom through chat, but it's like a 14-year-old local kid literally went into cardiac arrest in the middle of a baseball game. His name is Bryson Blanton. Jason Corley: Well, you I mean, you just did. So go ahead. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Whoa. Okay? Adrian Bellew: And I believe in the power of prayer. And if anyone looks at this and says, hey, who is that? I don't have a social media, but maybe if you guys just, you know. Jason Corley: Jacob, do you think you can work the back channels and see if you can get something for me to post up on this? there's... Jacob Moreno: Yes. What's his name again? Adrian Bellew: His name's Bryson Blanton. His mom is Samantha Blanton, who I was just talking to on Messenger. ⁓ he had not had a post-mortem. I did, yeah, and I think he's still recovering. ⁓ But from what I understand, it was a pretty serious ordeal, CPR, all that stuff. It was not a pretty sight. ⁓ Jason Corley: Okay, so they contacted you through Facebook? Okay. Do they know? Would any any idea what the cause was? Nothing, OK, all right. Jacob Moreno: Is it Rowan County? Adrian Bellew: Um, that's a really good question. I'm, I'm Jacob. I'm, I'm unsure. Yeah. Jacob Moreno: Okay, I think I found it. I think I did find it. So I will, I'll shoot it to Jason and we'll put it up. Jason Corley: Okay, alright. Adrian Bellew: That would be it. Jason Corley: All right, coach, would you do me a favor and after you log off, after we're done with the conversation tonight, would you reach out to her and make sure it's okay that I do post something like that for her? Okay, all right. Just, don't wanna do it with, you know, just cause she reached out to you doesn't mean she wants to reach out to me. So I just wanna. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, sure. I will. Thank you. Yeah, no, I reached out to her. hopefully she'll be okay with it. But thank you. Jason Corley: Okay. Okay. All right. Gotcha. ⁓ So how many are you taking this weekend? Adrian Bellew: Um, 15. Yeah. I don't know. I was, I was one of the lighter ones last year. Um, it's so tough because like, and again, some people know this, some people don't, but if it's the top eight or 10 teams in the country and you got all these teams and you got good kids on teams that are not in the top 10, everyone kind of loads up on the rosters and it's just massive roster. Like, so I don't know what to expect. Um, but Jason Corley: Okay, is that typical for this? Okay. Yep. Yeah. Okay. Adrian Bellew: In our camp, it's probably going to be 15. Jason Corley: Okay, all right. And I'm assuming that you've got POs coming in because that's what is gonna be necessary, correct? Adrian Bellew: Yeah, I don't know. don't know if it's just a... No, it's not bad. It's just like, you know, I have opportunity presented with a lot of people not healthy. So, and look, I'm not... If anyone's watching this and they're like, oh, man, he's setting us up for... We're not going to play. I am. We're going to play our hardest and we're going to try to win every game. I'm not like saying we're... Jason Corley: He is not tipping his hand at all! Jacob Moreno: No. Jason Corley: I'm Yeah. ⁓ ⁓ yeah, a thousand percent. Adrian Bellew: anything other than that. Jason Corley: Yeah. I mean, I thought about this too. I thought, man, like, I don't know what kind of conversations we're going to have because he is an ultimate competitor and like he would probably be way more open next next Tuesday. Not today. But I was just like, you know what? Like, no, let's just I mean, yeah, I mean, Coach Saban doesn't always get softball. So we thought we would not give you a softball either. speaking of having to take 15, that is because ⁓ you guys are dealing with Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: ⁓ Jason Corley: You guys are dealing with some serious, serious, ⁓ health issues, like throughout the team. I want to ask you this. I sent this to you earlier. This seems to be an epidemic, man. This, this arm thing and shoulder thing seems to be an epidemic. ⁓ we had a kid for Tribio's team this last weekend. ⁓ yesterday today's Tuesday, right? So yesterday his dad took him to get an X-ray on his shoulder. ⁓ Markie. So Markie's out for the year now and. It's just like one after another after another after another. It's either elbow or it's shoulder. And I'm, I'm curious to know, have you, have you had any conversations with really, really smart people to figure out why and what's going on? Jacob Moreno: Brand Lee. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, well, I will say first of all, we're knocked out more on scooters and lawnmowers and weird injuries than we are. I'll tell you the stories later. think one brother fell off of a scooter. Somebody fell off. Somebody got hit by a rock with a lawnmower. I get some of the weirdest, craziest stuff. But I... Jacob Moreno: ⁓ Adrian Bellew: I will say like, and I don't want to get into the science of it because I'm not probably qualified to get into the science of it. ⁓ But there are a couple of things that we don't do over the last like 20 years. I've kind of what I would call red flags and red flags for me are like, if you watch this pitch, we only throw that one day. We don't double throw guys, you know? So like if you were coming on Saturday, like that's your game. I think there's a big health. Jason Corley: Okay, like if there's a game in between, I gotcha, I gotcha. Adrian Bellew: And not everyone can do this. So somebody there is going, well, he's got a lot of kids and he can do that. No, I get that. I do. But if you can, I would rather extend the guy on Sunday than throw him three innings on Saturday and then reheat him up on Sunday. Because now you're counting the warm up pitches. You got to keep an eye on him down at the bullpen. Don't let him throw 20, 25 pitches. Try to get your guy going 10 minutes before the game time, not 25 minutes. and let him throw 35 pitches, because you have to count those, like in my mind. But overuse, mean, yeah, mean, when you got a guy playing all the time, you know, and I have, you know, I've had that happen, you know, and you can't walk to the dad, you know, they don't, they know better. And look, and I don't know why it's this way, but it's my non-baseball dad's. He's fine. He can do it. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Jason Corley: Yeah, you brought that up before. Adrian Bellew: So it's not a question of if, it's when. And then next thing you know, hey, I'm out. I got something going on. Well, that's eight to 12. See you in the fall. And that's shoulder and UCL. I will say heavy balls are a red flag for me. Again, I'm not going to, I know when you post this, someone's going to say, it's not true. When I see heavy balls, there's injuries behind it, especially with the younger kids. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. That's Jason Corley: It's okay. Really? Adrian Bellew: When they're in puberty, fine. But when I see 11 year old here trying to throw a heavy ball, I just cringe because I think I've seen five or six and three or four of them and I'm injured. Jacob Moreno: This is when you say that because Brantley's going through the UCL and the shoulder and the physical therapist he sees he says guys and their third the young kids under 13 should not be dealing with plyos period because they're actually worse for you than they are you know they do benefit you and like Adrian said Adrian Bellew: There is a short term game that some of the guys try to jump on. Hey, well obviously you're throwing a heavier ball. Now the regular ball feels lighter. You know what mean? There is a short term game to that, but I don't think it's worth it. That's just based on the amount of injuries we've seen with heavy balls. And again, somebody is about to light up your comments with science to say otherwise. That's just my opinion based on what I've seen. And I'd be interested to like, you get some of these other guys on here, ⁓ you know. ⁓ or whatever some of those guys and say do you see the same thing? Jason Corley: Yeah, I mean, I did think that Danny's comment last night was very interesting on how Duke, which I know you're not a Duke fan coach. It's clear. I get that. But Danny's conversation last night was amazing. And he was talking about how they when they're in the recruiting process, it's it's such a it's it's such a positive for them when they get these multi-sport athletes because these kids Jacob Moreno: Okay. Jason Corley: are literally shutting their arms down and playing a completely different sport. And he was talking about it like mileage on a car. He's just like, I can either get a kid that has got all these miles on the car already by the time he gets to 17 years old, or I got somebody that's just getting broken and we get them and get them into our system. Uh-oh, we just lost coach. Jacob Moreno: I was just gonna say we just lost him. Jason Corley: ⁓ Adrian had stopped recording. ⁓ Okay. Jacob Moreno: Hey, hey guys, I just want to say it wasn't me this time. Jason Corley: There he is. There he is. Adrian Bellew: I don't know. There he is. Yeah, Jason Corley: You're good. Now you're good. So, ⁓ I, I was saying something about, yeah, I was talking about mileage on a car cause Danny had brought that up about their recruiting process and how, ⁓ they don't shy away from kids that play baseball all year long, but they sure do would rather have a kid that doesn't because there's not as many miles on his arm ⁓ once they get him and get, ⁓ get Adrian Bellew: All right. Jason Corley: that player into their system. They really, he made it sound like they really wanted almost like a blank slate so that Duke could do what Duke does with the ball player and just have the athlete, which I thought was just fascinating. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, yeah, there's a couple of schools in town. They only take a couple of freshmen. Like everything's portal. But the only freshmen that they take are usually a 17 or 18-year-old arm. They're not going after the 21, 22-year-old arm. They're looking for the young arm. So that's tracks. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And yeah, and it's just, just, was asking you that because I know you guys are dealing with it. And ⁓ on that retrospect, as a coach, how do you battle, how do you battle the emotional roller coaster of a 12 year old wishing he could be out there, but he can't. Adrian Bellew: Man, that's a really good one actually Actually, I'm glad you brought that up because this is something that I you know This is a really tough thing for a kid who's hurt who's just can do nothing but but hit and when you're hitting well You're on top of the world, you know You get to live with that last at bat, but I had a kid last year Nolan Hatch, you know one of my best kids This time last year he could not get on the field. I he to tournaments without a hit Like literally he had he was hurt. He could do nothing but hit and I could just see it all over him. It was really, really, really tough on him. And there's not much you can you can do. I mean you have a bad at bat. ⁓ I mean think about this is a kid that we don't think we even put in the lineup in the last game. Like he was at best the best like like he was struggling that bad. And. Once he got healthy after best of the best and he was able to get on the field, we went straight to USA almost after that. He made team USA and didn't get out for months. I mean, literally just being healthy on the field and being able to like play, you know, cause like you have a bad at bat. You don't get to go out to the outfield and go make a play and forget about your last play or your last AB. Jason Corley: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: And so again, like my son went through it, my youngest son, know, he had he had Tommy John and he was like a DH forever and he had a great summer. And then when he hit a slump, was like, it was never ending. He could not get out of it. You know, and it was just, you know, you start breaking down the swing. You mentally just kind of mess with yourself like, what am I doing wrong? You know, kind of what you're doing wrong is just that you're kind of stuck, you know, it's all between your ears. Don't go breaking down your mechanics. It's just a matter of like not being able to play. I mean, Jason Corley: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: Think about it, like you go out and strike out, my favorite thing to say is, what, move on. Nothing to move on to. You gotta go sit on the bench and wait nine more spots until you hit and all you think about is your last hit back. So it's tough, It really is tough. It's one the toughest things out there, quite frankly. So if you are one of those injured kids out there, mean, like. Jacob Moreno: There. ⁓ Jason Corley: Yeah, I so. Yeah, I didn't. Adrian Bellew: What you're going through is probably one of the toughest things that you'll ever go through as a competitor. I mean, it's all mental already. And when you're hurt and you're playing and all you can do is hit, I mean, it sucks. It does. And I feel for those guys. Jason Corley: What, if you could give advice to a coach, if you could give advice to a coach who's got players or a player on their team that is going through that, what advice could you give as a coach, coach, coach of how to help a kid get through it? Adrian Bellew: Yeah, you know what I did? can't do it all the time, but I have a kid who's kind of going through it right now on a local level. And I'll say, hey, go out there and play for space. Just go catch the ball. And if I get a runner on. Billy, you go swap out with him. Like I just struck out. Last thing you need to do is stay over here on the bench. Let him go run the bases. Obviously, he's probably already doing that. But let him go catch the ball at first base. Go do something. Get him into the game somehow. I think that will make the world of world of difference. Jason Corley: Run out. Jacob, do you have something? Jacob Moreno: I do have something and I know you haven't given us much because of this weekend. What's a conversation you have? What's a conversation you have with the boys going into the weekend? Do you like you said? Jason Corley: this. Cause you do zoom calls, right? Adrian Bellew: Yeah, I'm telling you, we, I would love to give you more, but we really don't get. Jacob Moreno: Thank Adrian Bellew: Look, the kids really look forward to this tournament. I'm not trying to say we saw it's just another tournament because that's not the case. I'm just saying from a preparation standpoint, we're trying to make a big deal out of stuff. Yeah, at the end of the day, it's kind of like the Hoosiers movie, right? They're measuring the goal to the, yeah, I mean, everything's still the same. You just kind of got to be, kind of how we prepare on Friday will be a little different. We'll be pumping up to VELO. I don't think anyone's there throwing 40, 45. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yep. 10, 15. Yep. Adrian Bellew: pump it up and you know like do the things we do to get ready for a real fastball. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Is there a difference? I have a question for you. I sent this to you earlier and then Jacob, after I asked this, then you can go into your, your question from our source that we have. ⁓ Coach, I, this, this came out of completely left field, but this was something that somebody wrote in and I wanted to ask you this, but they want to know coach, is there a difference in style of play or development that you have seen between the East coast Texas, Oklahoma areas and the West Coast. Do you see a different style of baseball being coached and played coast to coast? Adrian Bellew: Yeah, and I respect the game out West. I'll plug MVP on this one. MVP is when we play them. say this correct, the parents never really stop. It's kind of like that, like they're constantly carrying. Okay, yeah, and I'm not saying it from a negative. ⁓ And, but the bunting is a real thing. If you, if the way that we probably shouldn't be saying this out there to them, but like, like my first and third guys are ultra athletic when we see them, because we know they do like to bond. They bond. actually, I love to bond. Like, and Jason Corley: ⁓ a thousand percent. knows. I told him. I told him. I told him. Yeah. Adrian Bellew: They kind of remind me of myself a little bit. We try to take the bunt away from them because they're really, really good at it. And they also defend the bunt very well. And again, just because we defend it or they defend it, we all still do it. That's probably one of the biggest misconceptions. I love to run a bunt one. And everyone will say, Jason Corley: ⁓ Cooper's famous for it. Cooper is famous for that. Lead off bunt. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, and they will play up. And that doesn't really take it away from me. We're still going to do it. I think that's one of the biggest misconceptions is like, they know we're doing it. The cat's out of the bag. What else do want me to do? It's like, no, we're still doing it. You're having to make a play from a foreign angle. You think about all the reps that Hudson takes a shortstop. Jason Corley: Yeah. Jacob Moreno: You know? Adrian Bellew: makes them from the same area. Well him charging in having to make play on the run you know is a foreign angle. A lot of times those turn on the triples. But but Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Adrian Bellew: talk about MVP and those guys like those guys play that type of game and it's good for our kids to see it like you know we're like hey we have little pre-meetings in our hotel before we before we go play I remember seeing them in PGI a couple years ago ⁓ and our meeting was hey you athletic kid one is gonna play eight steps in front of third athletic kid other kid you're gonna play four feet in front first and we're gonna be hyper aware of anything but we talked about our Jacob Moreno: . Adrian Bellew: our shortstop covering and all that stuff. And we didn't get any bonds, but we saw them bond a ton prior up to that. So I feel like we were able to prepare for it. And again, they do it really well ⁓ and they're a really well coached team. Jason Corley: Jacob, you remember who was the team? I feel like it was a Texas team and I feel like it was in Texas. Maybe it's like the Houston 1000 at nine or something where we literally or maybe we got beat on buntz. Like they bonnet like a record setting time. Jacob Moreno: ⁓ my God. ⁓ was, ⁓ team in shrink. Jason Corley: Team extreme and that's a but that's a Florida team. Yeah, they're on my end. Yeah, I've never in my life seen a team but this much in my time They literally beat us bunting the ball like 18 times Adrian Bellew: Yep. Yep. Yep. I played him. Jacob Moreno: out of Miami. Yep. We Adrian Bellew: Here's the worst part of it is if you don't practice it and we've run it and we see that you're not able to defend it, it is the worst thing ever for the other team. Because we just keep doing it, keep doing it, keep doing it until you get into the rules of, we're up by eight now, should we still be putting? But no, mean, that is never. Yeah, yeah, yeah, or that. Jason Corley: Yeah, it's death by a thousand cuts. Right, right, right, yeah. No, you gotta hit left handed. Yeah. Jacob Moreno: We're gonna button left-handed. Adrian Bellew: No, but no, that's real thing. I'm betting you guys were on the work on it. Jason Corley: ⁓ yes. And I actually, don't think we even got home that night. think Scott held us over for like two hours that night. Something like that. I remember that was not a, was, yeah, that was one of those parents. You go to dinner. ⁓ I'm, I'll be back here at the field under the lights with the boys and you can come pick them up for, before midnight. But, ⁓ yeah. Adrian Bellew: Okay, that's good. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: And you can have the personnel to do it. And they do. They're an athletic group. Jason Corley: Yeah, so you would consciously adjust your lineup and your roster when facing teams like that? I'm just asking. Right. And that's what I mean. That's what I mean. But defensively, you would definitely shift guys around to defend teams like that that you know have a history of playing ball like that. Adrian Bellew: It's more of a defensive thing for me. Yeah, we were. Yeah. Yes. Yeah, so I've done it a lot more at 9, 10, 11. 12U, I don't bunt as much because it's a different kind of game just at 12U, believe it or not. But 13U, it's back on. 14U, it's back on. this is kind of like, maybe we talked about this already, but this is why you need to have a team of athletes and multi-positional players is because I got to go and say, hey, big kid corner one, big kid corner two. They're gonna wear us out. You gotta be on the lineup or you gotta DH or something and I gotta have a kid who can come and play that position and come and take it away. Jacob Moreno: Thank Jason Corley: Yeah. Do you, do you feel like, do you feel like the East coast doesn't emphasize the development of teaching how to, how to, how to play that, you know, that slow game, the bunt game, or do you think that that's just something that the Latin culture or the West coast has embraced and that's just how they play because Adrian Bellew: I think it's the latter and I think it's a pride thing. Again, I love it too. I love like the purest stuff of the game. if you watch our dugout, we lay down a good bunt even if it's a sack one bunt and we score a run. I think we celebrate that as much as a double because it represents selflessness. It represents the team. It represents all the things that you hope that your team enjoys doing. And if they don't, if you're one those guys, it's bunt and they're like. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: you know, or you like they don't want to do it, then you know, you got other issues. Jason Corley: Yeah, that's yeah, you got other guys that'll bunt. Yeah, so yeah, come go ahead. Yep. Jacob Moreno: You got other guys that will butt. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, and I'd rather have those guys. Jacob Moreno: Hey coach, I got a question from a secret source. Is it true you cut a kid for being on the playground at a tournament? Hehehehehe ⁓ Adrian Bellew: ⁓ man, I will- Jason Corley: We need the Lasso of Truth. We need the Lasso of Truth thing right here. Adrian Bellew: ⁓ I will just say this, it is a rule of mine. ⁓ At a very young age, we don't do playgrounds. Jason Corley: You You Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: ⁓ Jason Corley: Or- or- or Whiffle Ball, right? Or Whiffle Ball? Adrian Bellew: Yeah, so I think I'm yeah, you definitely have a source. Yeah, we'll football will football is one. We don't do swimming before games. And yeah, no, no playgrounds. Yeah, again, I just I talked about the mental advantage, you know, if if we walk on imagine if you walk onto a field, and I know this is extreme, but say it's a 12 year old team, and five of them are on the monkey bar. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Jason Corley: Good. I-I-I-Yes. I agree with you before you even say this, so go ahead. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, but you're going to be like, ⁓ my gosh, we're about to, you know, that team. Yeah, you have the middle vanish. Yeah. Jason Corley: Yeah, 100%. 100, 1000%. Yes, 1000%. Okay, so the other question that we had written in is, what do you think is the cause of, all right, we already asked this, nevermind. I already asked this. What do you think are the causes of so many 12-year players having arm issues, not just elbow problems, but shoulder? Yeah. Adrian Bellew: Yeah. Well here, let me add to that because I think if you can get anything out there, if you want to use this for a real platform for positivity, your parents should be the ultimate agent for their kids. That is where it starts. okay, find me, this is a good homework assignment for you, but find me what is the top 1%, 5%, and 10 % of a 12-year-old velocity. Jason Corley: explain. Adrian Bellew: And let's say 12 of because it's fresher on mine. Top 1 % is probably 80 plus. Top 5 % is probably 75 plus. Top 10 % is 70 plus. Those kids, those kids' parents become very popular. They have lots of friends. And they're like, hey, can little Billy come play for us? OK, well, he's playing that weekend. What about next weekend? Can he come play for us? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, he's playing for that team the weekend after, so that works. Next thing you know, like he's throwing a ton and in the parents sometimes I, this is weird. I I'm not going to dive into the like science or psychology behind this, but the parents almost form like an identity. It comes down to some of the guys are not baseball guys. And you're just like, man, I'm all of a sudden like a big deal because my kid throws really, really hard and they do not put any guardrails on it. You know, and it's like, Hey, he throws 85 pitches. On Sunday, he threw 40 on Saturday and now he's got an arm issue. So if you get anything out of this, as a parent, you have to protect your arm. Yeah, you have to protect your kid's arm. I'm not saying that, hey coach, that 70 pitches, get them out. No, I think you have a conversation with your coach and say, hey look, this is why I feel before we even get the season going and say, have a parent who, we have a kid. Coming off of an injury from last year and they're like it is we kind of what want him to be we agree and we stick to that number and ⁓ They had that conversation prior to us starting the season we we respect their opinion and and even in high school I mean I see high school kids that already are committed to big big schools and Those parents have already went to the high school coach because the high school team. Let's just say isn't really Any danger of winning anything so you don't want there to get hurt? Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Adrian Bellew: It's one thing if you're in a state championship game. But if you're just playing at the Easter egg open, it's like, 75 pitches is it? He's already committed to here. Jason Corley: Mm-hmm. Jacob Moreno: There's a kid like that in our area. It team, you know, he's going to Tennessee and team has a losing record and the parents were like, I were shutting him down. He's a senior and they shut him down. I mean, and the dad was like, cause we're not doing it. You know, this isn't going anywhere. We have, you know, six games left. Like he's done. He can play first base, you know, cause he plays first base too, but they don't have him pitching no more for that reason. Adrian Bellew: I agree with that. Jason Corley: Yeah, that's probably a really hard, that's probably tough on you too to then walk in the halls of high school on Monday too ⁓ with the rumors start flying of, heard your parents shut you down. you know, I mean, I'm sure that's just as tough as being a 12 year old, having to watch your buddies go out there and take the field and you got to sit in a dugout. So ⁓ this psychological warfare that this game can play on these kids when it comes to injuries is unlike a lot of things I've ever seen coach. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: I think if they get through it, you have a tough kid. When they come out the other end of it, and look, some of them, won't. Maybe they won't come out. They'll just be like, I'm gonna go play something else. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Jacob Moreno: near. Jason Corley: Yeah. Hey, you spoke about let's do another little promo for USA Baseball. Does USA Baseball, speaking of pitches and arms, does USA Baseball have an official monitoring pitches like PG ⁓ does at events? Adrian Bellew: There are, I can't remember if they're monitoring or not. I know that there is a pitch count. Yeah, there are numbers you have to abide by. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure they're monitoring it. I had a coach go over it and I know he got it. He missed a game because of it, they literally suspended our coach for a day. So because he went over a couple pitches at a different age group. So I know it's monitored. Jacob Moreno: Cool. Jason Corley: Okay. Okay. But I guess where I'm asking this is because so we're just, we just started dabbling in the PBR stuff, the prep baseball report tournaments. And I love the way that they're ran, but I really, I've been vocal. I really would love to see them implement how PG does it and have a college kid back there with, with his own device because you're getting into the age where these boys are so competitive. Adrian Bellew: Yeah. Jason Corley: They're not nine and 10 anymore. They're 12 getting ready to go into 13. And especially when we are playing up in these 13 new events on the bigger fields. Like I would love to see PBR take that same approach that PG, because I think that's one of the things that Jacob, we talk about it all the time. Like PG just does it right when it comes to that stuff. Cause there's no questions asked. It is what it is. Cause it's being counted by the PG guy that's behind home plate. And I just, I don't. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: I didn't realize that, I didn't realize PBR didn't do that. Jason Corley: No, they don't. They don't. still up to whoever's running Game Changer to keep track of it. You know what mean? And I just feel like, ⁓ that's just, ⁓ I don't know. It's just... ⁓ Jacob Moreno: Mm-mm. I wonder if it's because PBR is newer. Adrian Bellew: They do a really good job. Yeah, they're definitely newer. ⁓ They do a really good job in the older ages. Again, I'm not sure how they track fidgets and stuff, but I got a lake point. mean, PBR is kind of a big deal. Jason Corley: Yeah, I mean, it's a big deal here in the Midwest. I mean, for us, it's kind of our version of PG. ⁓ And maybe, maybe they do, but just not. Adrian Bellew: I think you tag him with this little podcast. Jason Corley: Well, he's supposed to come on. He's coming on. He's got, he, Connor said he was going to come on the podcast. Yeah. I told, no, I just, I was like, I was like, we can clear the air on this. Just come on the podcast and let's just have a conversation about it because there's obviously a reason if it's, if it's resources that makes all sense in the world. I get it. But maybe then we could use gate fees for it. I'm just joking. Um. Adrian Bellew: of course he is, of course he is, of course he is. Jacob Moreno: Leave it to Jason. Jason gets everybody. Adrian Bellew: Yeah. Yeah, I definitely heard that. I definitely heard that. Jacob Moreno: Ha ha ha! Yeah. Jason Corley: Speaking of resources, this is the last thing I want to ask you and then we'll get you out of here. ⁓ You have been known, you and I mean, I know that there's others, but I'm just going to throw you and Cody Hendricks are the two that always come to my mind when I think about pitchcoms and you guys implementing them. You guys started implementing them. How long ago and what is in your mind? What is the advantage of using pitchcoms, not just for the pitcher? Jacob Moreno: I do. Jason Corley: But everybody on the field has it. What say you, Adrian? Adrian Bellew: I would say it's a huge offensive advantage because if Hudson comes up in place for me, I can go over all my signs, but he's not used to seeing me and he's not used to the signs. Well, if the watch says steal, then he doesn't. Jacob Moreno: Hehehehehe Jason Corley: Well, no, no, wait, for him, the watch better say don't steal. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, and defensively, mean, defensively it's a huge advantage. mean, if you're right fielder knows you're about to pick one, and he can kind of cheat that way a little bit. we throw it away, he's got a shot to keep him off second base, definitely keeping him off third. But as a shortstop, if it's a breaking ball, maybe cheat a little to the 5'6". Jason Corley: Yeah. Listen, I get it. I'm just asking the question. I'm just curious. Adrian Bellew: For me, there was a time about a year and a half ago that they were making us take them off. And PG sort of proved it, but then didn't approve it. And then I'm like, it speeds the game up. Nobody has to change signs at second base. Jason Corley: Until you don't want it to speed the game up coach. We know we ran into that in the World Series Championship game. Who was it? Tell it what team was it Jacob in Florida. Adrian Bellew: ⁓ my gosh, that is not me. Jacob Moreno: to the battery dies? it was the chiefs, the chiefs. can't eat the food. Jason Corley: the Chiefs and all of a sudden the batteries didn't start working and we lost the game. Literally the horn went off. We had no idea that there even was a time limit. It went off and I swear to God, as soon as the last out was over, guess who was up to bat to go into the bottom? It was ⁓ the top of the order. HUD was due up and we were down by one. Yeah. And all of a sudden the battery stopped working and the shoes came untied. Adrian Bellew: ⁓ wow, yeah. Jacob Moreno: The catcher needed water because it was so hot. Jason Corley: ⁓ my god, it was so bad, but I was just- Adrian Bellew: I hate that too, but I try not to I try not to complain. I try to turn it into a positive and I always tell my guys this what happens when we're losing right? We've made we've got us or if we got ourselves into this, you know, I mean like there's a like they're they're winning and they have the right to do that. Now. I don't like it and I'm not saying we don't do it. I don't do it to an extreme. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Adrian Bellew: But I may switch out a pitcher with an out to go if I know I got four minutes or something. That's just part of the game. But as far as time and all that stuff, mean, that gives coaches a bad look, whatever. Jason Corley: Yeah, I guess the reason why Jacob out, let me finish this and then I want to finish this kind of thought. But I guess the reason why I'm curious about it is because you don't see it very much in in pro ball. You see it between pitchers and catchers, but you don't see it in position players, but you see it all over college ball. So that's why I mean, I love it. I think that I think that. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, no. Jason Corley: Yes, I think that there's something to your kids learning how to read a batter's feet and to know how to position themselves on the field defensively based on how they swing or how their last swing was or where that foul went. I get all of that. But I also think there's something to having that on. Like you said, Jacob, this is just the dad in me and I apologize for this. Didn't even think about a pick one and the right fielder like giving a head up to this not turning into a triple. Like didn't Jacob Moreno: No, being prepared. Jason Corley: That didn't even, didn't even cross- Adrian Bellew: Well, and the verbals, like if you're running a backpick and... coach yells a verbal, it's always something that sounds weird and awkward and you're like, I hope they don't pick up on it. But at least on the watch, you don't have to worry about it. You know, it's out there. And again, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's at its best on the plug and play guys. Like if you, would say half our guys are more out of town. We still have a lot of our regular court, but if you have a team that is nothing but pickups or whatever, I mean, the watches are a must. Like, like in my, in my opinion, I think it's, I think it's really, really good. I, Jason Corley: You Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: You know and like your kid will get more bats for it Keep more kids will pitch because you're gonna play six innings instead of five You know you're not gonna have to walk to the to the the mound every time a runner's on second to go and change your sides so Yeah, because even when you have something other than you know finger down for fastball if a guy's the second base more than three or four pitches You know I mean they're gonna pick up on the Jason Corley: Gotcha. Okay. Okay. Adrian Bellew: sequence and then you gotta switch them again. So how are you gonna keep doing that and keep the game flowing? Because that's not the right way, you know. Jason Corley: Yeah, and I would assume too, it's probably like, when did you start implementing that? What age? Adrian Bellew: the watches? Honestly, I think I remember when I did. was in the 9U. I was at a big tournament. And I remember looking like, like I'm looking at you. I had a dad staring at me just the whole time. You know, like just watching my side. He was there before. He was there the game before. Just to kind of figure out what it is that it was. And then when I got there, it was like, and then when we played. Jason Corley: Yeah, nine. ⁓ yeah. Jacob Moreno: ⁓ we've had that. Jason Corley: I think I know what dad you're talking about. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, well, there's more than one, but I was just like, man, that's a lot of work. Like, I'm going to have to figure this out. Is there something out there? Jason Corley: Did you see an extra benefit to it that you didn't expect of kids understanding how you play your type of baseball by having that to where like, ooh, okay, we typically do this. And did you see them doing things just from being programmed by, okay, yep, this is like, I'm gonna start moving. I'm gonna start shading to the left even before this buzz comes in on my watch. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, I think they get to know you. I mean, they're going to start shading because they know the pitch. Yeah, maybe. But ultimately, as long as the player's with me for a while, they kind of get an idea of who I am and what we like to do anyways. But for the record, I'm a huge fan of all of that. In fact, I'll tell you, our catcher, we don't use the pitch comp. We use just, it's called... Jason Corley: I didn't know the name of it, I just came up with that name out honestly. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, we use. We use a go route. so basically we give the signal and it goes off to all the watches. But like Tucker, who's my catcher, he's super cerebral. Probably the smartest kid on my team. And I know this is going to go out and one of the kids are going be like, he's not smarter than me, all right. maybe, but he, like when he sees where like, and his dad normally calls pitches and we were talking about this, this past weekend, like Tucker can see how far the, battery is off the plate or on the plate and he can see some things that we can't see. he can switch out of something. Jason Corley: You Adrian Bellew: that he didn't like, he calls his own game ultimately until we get a runner on second and I was telling JD, now your job is just not to screw it up when a runner gets on second. Tucker has it until then. Jason Corley: Yeah, it's yeah, Jacob. mean, I see it more and more. mean, at the 12, the 12 you age is it's fascinating how smart and how intelligent these kids are and how much they know this game. It's just so it's so impressive. It's so impressive like you. It just it's fun to watch and it's fun to watch the little ones that like, you know, Brooks, you know that he loves to catch. That's number one thing to see him mimic. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Jason Corley: even though he may not know what he's mimicking to mimic some of the things that the older boys are doing and that he's watching. And ⁓ he may not understand why he's doing it, but like this year with Brooks, Brooks is just out of nowhere. He started following the play down the first baseline when there's nobody on. Like I didn't teach him that. Like I didn't teach him to run down with his mask in his hand, following in case there's a pass ball. I have worked on, I've worked a lot with them on calling the lanes, but I think outside of like watching the kid learn how to develop a pitch, this thing with watching, because he's my first catcher, watching these catchers pick this game up is so much fun. This might be my favorite thing now is watching Brooks develop as a catcher. Like just, it's just a blast. It's a blast. It's a... So... Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: Pitchers and catchers go first in the recruiting process. So I mean, if you want to get to college, catch. Jason Corley: Man, it's great though. Jacob Moreno: That's what I always tell Braintley though when Braintley's a catcher I was telling him, you're the quarterback, you're the only one that sees everybody. Everybody sees each other's back. So you, you know, it was one thing that I taught him earlier was you gotta, you know, you gotta know where to put people too. Not just the shortstop or hey, you know, this kid does this, you you move here, you move there. Like, I mean, it's, it's a fun position. It is a fun position. And I did want to. Adrian Bellew: Hey, let me ask you guys a question. And this would be a good little survey if you guys ever get time. How many people do you think are picking signs at 12U on a percentage? Not from the coach. I'm just talking about trying to pick signs from the catcher. Jason Corley: ⁓ I mean, I would say that my kids always trying to. ⁓ Adrian Bellew: Yeah, I mean if you had to put a number on it just for as much as you've seen and as much as you've seen guys with this or that with their little signals or whatever how how many people out on a percentage do you think at least are trying to get signs? Jacob Moreno: It's like... 45 %? Jason Corley: I would, I don't think it's very high. I would say if you took 10 kids, I would say, I would say four of the 10, five of the 10, maybe half would be a high number for me. I think. Adrian Bellew: Let's start with my teams. Jason Corley: ⁓ by teams. Jacob Moreno: ⁓ with tea? Adrian Bellew: Like percentage of the teams you have to worry about getting your science taken. Jacob Moreno: I would say less than 10%. Jason Corley: ⁓ yeah. Less than 10%. Yeah. Not very many. Yeah. ⁓ I would say they're trying. ⁓ I would say maybe trying to do it. ⁓ yeah, Jacob, I would say the teams that we play, ⁓ yeah, I would say that probably happens more. Adrian Bellew: That's question. How many people are trying to get your science free? Jason Corley: Yeah, I don't know, coach. It's that's an interesting. That's an interesting question that I've never thought of. I'll ask HUD when I get off the podcast, because that's probably something that's discussed in the dugout and I'm not in there. So, ⁓ you know, I'll ask him what he thinks it is. He may be like that. Everybody is. And I and I just didn't know. I don't know. Adrian Bellew: I would agree with him. Jason Corley: Okay. Jacob Moreno: You Adrian Bellew: would say it's somewhere between 95 and 100. So the moral of the subject is like, make sure you do something, whether it's watches or press conference. Jason Corley: Coach, I gotta be honest with you. We don't talk about it when we come home. We don't talk about it. So it's a wash, it's over, it's old news. So ⁓ this is not a topic that gets brought up. ⁓ Adrian Bellew: And see, we talk about it all the time, like cerebral stuff, gonna have to kill some of this cuz I wanna give away some of the tell. ⁓ we had a kid down in, I won't say the tournament, I won't say the team, but this team beat us a couple times. And then this one tell, ⁓ this one tell, ⁓ is basically that he would never throw a breaking ball with a leg lift. ⁓ won us the championship. Jason Corley: Yeah, for sure. For sure. For sure. That's fine. Okay, see, HUD, HUD picks those things up and then he tells me and I don't ever remember him. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, but I mean, and this actually Tucker brought it to me. It was like, hey coach, know, like, ⁓ wow. And then we all like, hey, we all talked about it. And then we, we got to the guy, you know, and it was like, like stuff like that. I mean, that's the stuff that's really exciting for me because we, throw a lot at the kids and we hope they, you know, we don't dumb it down because we know all of them can't handle it. We throw a lot at them because half of them will get it all. And what the other kids don't get, they just kind of like, I got most of it. But even if it's most of it, it's a lot. Jason Corley: I do know, Jacob, I do know this. do know that like HUD and ⁓ Gino, they're very actively trying to play the game of chess out there. And they are, those two seem to always be hunting for clues. Does that make sense? I don't, I can't speak for any of the other boys, but I know those two are constantly, every bat they're looking for the next one, or if it's changed. I think a lot of it has to do with Hudson is kind of the guinea pig. ⁓ As a leadoff hitter, he gets out there and he's looking for the first tell for taking bags. That's just what he does. But I know that Gino and him and Gino as a catcher also, they seem to take their two formulas and then throw them together in the dugout and figure out which one is working and which one isn't. And then they feed off of each other. I cannot speak for any of other kids ⁓ just because I... Dom and I talk a lot and we were, you we talk about how these cool things that our boys have figured out during the game. But, ⁓ yeah, that is interesting. As far as teams go though, I would have no idea. I'll bet you, HUD, if when I ask him after this, HUD's probably going to say, dad, I, everybody is and we're constantly throwing them off, but I don't know. I don't know. And I don't know why HUD hasn't changed that signal, but I guarantee you he changes it now before he sees you again. Adrian Bellew: Yeah. Jacob Moreno: Hahaha! just... Adrian Bellew: my opinion, like our job as a pitcher ⁓ to simply stop the feet and once you're stopped you go. ⁓ don't need the shortstop to tell you. Like, you know what mean? That's where the breakdown is. That would be for me. Like if he was playing shortstop for me, I'd be like, ⁓ really don't get to do anything. Our pitcher, once he stops his feet, we're going to the plate. Like, you know what mean? Obviously as a runner, we're trying to keep our feet moving, you know? So, yeah, I mean, again, that's. Jason Corley: Yeah, it's that it's fascinating. I Jacob, I just I I can do this for hours. Jacob Moreno: It's just, it's just funny because listening to him and just a little tall tales that just a little tales they pick up on it's very intriguing. Jason Corley: I know. Adrian Bellew: You should do a bonus content, make people pay for it and then donate it for a good cause. But let the bonus content be stuff that people want pay for. But like, hey, we're going to get a round table of firsts thirds. What do you guys do on firsts and thirds? What do you guys do on... Jason Corley: My gas tank? Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: You Adrian Bellew: You know, stuff that like coaches or dad coaches may plug into because you know, there's a dad coaching team right now who just started coaching is like. Jason Corley: ⁓ Adrian Bellew: that would be really cool if I could hear what they're actually gonna say. You know what I mean? And let them have like, pass down some advice to some of the younger guys who are trying to get through some of this stuff. Jason Corley: Yeah, but some of the younger guys, they don't think they don't, they don't think they need advice coach. Jacob Moreno: Ooh, that's actually pretty good. Adrian Bellew: Then there is that. Then there is that. Then there is that. Jason Corley: So what what Jacob do you have any more there? Did you go through your list? Jacob Moreno: Mm-hmm. I got one, I got one from Instagram. was the guy wants to remain anonymous, but he said, I think it's a guy. mean, I don't know. He, ⁓ he wanted to know when is a good time to move on from your current team? If your kids outgrown most of the players and need to play competitive games. No, he didn't. No, he didn't. It was, it's just something that he said he's like tossing up because Jason Corley: Yeah. I didn't write this. I did not write this. Jacob Moreno: I know, from what I grabbed from what he told me was he just said his son's bored when he's out there. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, I don't want to reinvent any of that. would say that there's an old like, like the old saying is if you're the best kid or the worst kid, you know, like that's, that's usually time to level up or level down. You know, if you're the guy that's always kind of being set or if you're the guy who's the best kid on the team, I mean, that's usually, that's usually time. Jason Corley: Okay. I have a question since you just said that then, cause I'm no, no, no, no, no. I'm gonna, I'm going to ask for, I'm going to ask for Brooks. Okay. Because I maybe I'm wrong as dad and maybe you can help me with this then I want Brooks to be the worst one on his team. I do not want him to be the best on his team. Like I want him to be filled. I want him to be in a place where he has literally got a crawl and scratch in order to keep up. Adrian Bellew: And that's our original, not taking credit for that. Yeah. Yeah. Jason Corley: and I feel like, I wrong? Adrian Bellew: No? I... Okay, well now this is original. I call it, you need to at least have... Have you ever seen the movie Seabiscuit? Jason Corley: Yeah, but it's been a long time. Adrian Bellew: It's ultimately a horse chasing a rabbit, right? That's going around. All right. So if you lose, if you lose sight of the rabbit, like you can't even see it anymore. Like you're not really pushing yourself. You just stop and give up. You got to be able to least see it. Okay. And, and I think as a, know, to be the worst kid on the team, you might be like, okay, I, this is too much for me. I can't compete. So, um, yeah, I call that the seed biscuit. Jason Corley: Yes. Yes. Adrian Bellew: Like you don't want to get outside of that. Jacob Moreno: See, I've always heard, I've always heard you don't want to be the best, you don't want to be the worst. If you sit in the middle, and that means you're striving to still be better, but you're not getting worse. I guess. Jason Corley: That's it. Adrian Bellew: No, I think you're fine with that as long as your coach is moving you forward, know, development wise, you know, I look sometimes kids have been with the same coach for a long time and you know, and you know, there might be a change needed there just for, you know, just a new, ⁓ yeah, yeah, nothing against that coach. Just, ⁓ you know, and, know, but then they got middle school, they got JV middle school, varsity middle school, JV high school, varsity. I mean, they're going to get a handful of coaches, but you know, that can always be, you know, refreshing Jason Corley: Dale Voice. week. Adrian Bellew: It's tough. would say like 12 to 14 is the hardest time to play baseball because you got 12 to 13 big field and you got 13 to 14, which is BB Corp. And I think I said this on your last one, but 13 to 14, I say is a tougher transition than 12 to 13, even though 12 to 13 is also tough. Like, but you, because you still had kids at 13, you probably hitting home runs that. Jason Corley: Yeah. Adrian Bellew: Those will be just simple pop-ups a year later because you're just going from a drop five trampoline to a drop three, which isn't going anywhere. Jason Corley: Right. Yeah. Yeah. It's, it's, it's just incredible. It's, was fun to watch. mean, it was, it was interesting to see, you know, a lot, there was a lot of triples. There was a lot of triples instead of being home runs. You know I mean? ⁓ the ball wasn't leaving the park, but they also, I remember the first time HUD had an in the park home run, I think the first game, Jacob, and he got around and once he crossed home, well, first of all, Jacob Moreno: No. Adrian Bellew: Really? Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Jason Corley: He started slowing down halfway between third and home because he knew he was going to be okay. And he was just like, yeah, that is farther than it looks, dad. ⁓ Adrian Bellew: No, it's kind of like T-ball all over again. That's the last time I've probably got it in the park home run. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. So, so do you have anything special, any special meals before big tournaments? Are there any rituals? Do you sleep with your, you know, one sock on and one sock off? Adrian Bellew: No, I'm boring. Listen, and I understand if you guys never have me on again. I wish I could have gave you more controversy. What we need to do is honestly a podcast where you guys, like we interview you guys and you do something. Yeah. Jacob Moreno: No. Jason Corley: ⁓ no, no, no, that's not possible. It's not possible. No, we're not interesting. No, no. The world wants to hear the world wants to hear everything that we just talked about and they want to hear it often. And I am, I've told you this before. Everybody that I've talked to loves the fact that we're doing this. Jacob has gone again. So it wasn't there. He is there. is everybody loves the fact that you're a resident coach. We can't thank you enough. We have no business. We have no business with you being in our presence and giving us your mind. So just know that we are very grateful. So. Jacob Moreno: Hehehehehe Mm-hmm. Adrian Bellew: ⁓ Yeah, but hey, it has been super popular. Everywhere I go, like, hey, love that thing you said or didn't love the thing I said. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Jason Corley: Yeah. Listen, if we can just get people to think and to have conversation, then we've done our job. That's it. So, and if we can enlighten parents out there that don't have access to you and don't have access to anything else other than what they've they've known, maybe in a small box ⁓ in rural, who knows, Kansas or something. It's just anything we can do, anything we can do to shed light on this game. and that there's more out there than maybe what somebody is experiencing, that's all, that's, we've done our job, coach. We've done our job and we've done it with you. Adrian Bellew: Yeah, and it's one man's opinion. I know there's different ways. I think ultimately, and I had a few of those, they'll send me a message after me being on last time. And I'm like, hey, loved it. Can I ask you this question? Can I ask you this question? Even if you see me in person, please stop. And if you got a question, I'd love to answer it. Jason Corley: Yeah, awesome. Okay. Just yeah, just don't approach him behind a port body. So did you, you had to like the graphic. You had to have liked the graphic. I'm going to, I'm going to tell you right now. I'm going tell you right now. Your coaches loved it. Adrian Bellew: That was good. That's puts you on the map. be honest with you. That's what puts you on the map. I had 25 people message me and go, who are you talking to about a poor body? And I'm like, what's this podcast? Where? Who is this guy? Jacob Moreno: Hehehehehe Jason Corley: You I'm just going to tell you right now. I'm going tell you right now, Davey's wishing he came up with that first. Yeah. So yeah. All right, coach, listen, best of luck this weekend. We'll obviously be watching. I'm not going to Georgia. I'm staying home with Brooks. He's got a tournament in Dublin. So mom is taking HUD down to East Cobb this weekend. I'm staying home with the little one and give him some love this week. Adrian Bellew: Who, Davey? ⁓ yeah. Jacob Moreno: He said, yeah. Adrian Bellew: Yeah. Jacob Moreno: Yes, good luck coach. Adrian Bellew: It's Florida. Jason Corley: So I will be watching, paying close attention and the best of luck man and I hope your arms get healthy. I hope all of the arms get healthy. Hope it's a great tournament. I hope the weather's great for you guys and best of luck. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Good luck coach. Adrian Bellew: Thank you. ⁓ Let's give Jacob some hair on this revision. Jacob Moreno: Good luck, Coach. Jason Corley: Yes, we will. And will you double check and make sure it's okay that we talk about... ⁓ Jacob Moreno: you Adrian Bellew: gonna do that now. I already talking to her. So yeah, will. I'll shoot you a message. Jason Corley: Okay, awesome. Okay. Thanks. Have a good night coach. Thank you, sir. He just stirred me. just ding, ding, ding. He's getting so much more comfortable every time. Yes. Yes. And he's like, I don't know if you guys are going to have me back on again. Shut up. All right. Shut up. Come on, man. Yeah. I mean, I, I, it would be really cool. It, it would be really cool if we could do like, Adrian Bellew: All right, sir, thank you. Jacob Moreno: Sir. Mm-hmm. He is, you can tell. He knows damn well we are. Jason Corley: like a coach a week, you know what mean? Like Adrian, and then like next week, Marcos is back on, you know what I mean? And then after that, know, Artiega is back on. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Yeah, you got it. You got it. And if for everybody wondering, we're talking about Beato, Beato as Jason says. Jason Corley: You Yeah, Beto. Ayo. Bariero. Bariero. I just turned him Italian. ⁓ God, we've been so fortunate, dude. We've been so fortunate. Like, and every single one of these guys has turned into a legit friend. You know what I mean? I am not lying. I'm not. Jacob Moreno: Bet them? Yeah you did. Man you ain't lying man. Mm-hmm. No, you I mean you ain't lying man even behind the scenes them Texan Them Texan like hey, you know good episode, you know bring this up, but yeah Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Marcos and, and Bito both made points to like check in on, on HUD's tournament. You know what I mean? And stuff like that. just, meant a lot. It meant a lot, you know? And I mean, there's other people to do, but I'm just saying, you know, they're a competitor. You know I mean? Of, of, of us. You know what I mean? Yeah. Jeez. It's a be all right. Be all right. Jacob Moreno: Mm-hmm. And it's not even... Oh, excuse me. Excuse me. And it's... Oh, that was a... You're on mute. Jason Corley: Was that... was that... was that Bard's sound? Jacob Moreno: No, yeah, it was your meeting bars. Jason Corley: Yeah, there we go. There we go. So. Jacob Moreno: And it's not even, and to me, them checking in, yes, they're competitors, but it's like, to me, it's like they don't have to be, they were just guests. But now you see that these guys have turned it in, are turning into friends and be people you talk to the rest of your life. Jason Corley: Yeah. No. Yeah. Yeah. It just, ⁓ yeah, I'm just very thankful. Like we have no business. have no business. And I'm thankful too, that our platform and our podcast went this route because in the very beginning, you know, I was having a conversation with somebody today and in the very beginning, we very easily could have went down a road where nobody would ever want to talk to us because we were just lighting things on fire, you know, and, ⁓ Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I had to walk. I had to walk behind you with the fighter extinguisher. Jason Corley: Well, you would have done your fair share too, pal. but I mean, we could like, that's honestly like, that's where like, it started with a couple rants. And then we were, then it would, it just took one, it took, I think it took one, one day of like positive feedback from the listeners of like, this is awesome. This is awesome. This is awesome. Where it switched in our heads of Jacob Moreno: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jason Corley: Hey, we might have to take this a little bit more seriously than what we ever thought we were going to. And then that opened the door to Sean, you know, and then Sean opened the door to the next guy and the next guy and the next guy. then, you know, I mean, kudos to coach beam, you know what I mean? Kudos to it. Just it's, it's just, I'm glad that we stayed in our lane. Does that make sense? I'm glad that we didn't try to, to go too far off the rails of, know, there are, you know, there are Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, Jason Corley: There are personalities all over this space of youth sports. There's personalities all over it, you know, And I literally said today, was like, it's like there's an ice cream cone, literally like baseball lifestyle. It's like there's an ice cream cone and we're just one color of all the sprinkles that are on it. Like there's so much to go around. There's so much to go around. And I'm glad that you and I stayed in our lane of this, of just trying to give insight to parents, you know, and every once in a while we get to throw pots down in there for the kids and have a conversation. And, you know, if, if DSARM ever decides to want, that they want to come on, you know, that'll be for the kids and you know, Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jason Corley: I know that Adam and the rest of the Pottstown crew want to come on and so forth, our lane has been those of us on the interstates traveling next to us. That's been our lane. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, and that's what I mean. And, you know, there's like you said, there's so many, there's so many different lanes. We chose one and we started veering off till we realized that, we got our own, we got our own shit. Let's, let's just rock with what we got going on. Jason Corley: Well, I think too it would have been fake because this is the these are the conversations that we would have you and I like and the and the conversations where, you know, one of us would be talking to one of these coaches after a game or behind, you know, a dugout in between games. You know, I mean, I just I think of in my mind, I think of East Cobb or diamonds at Daley Park. You know, we're talking to these coaches and having these conversations. And this is these are the ones like we very rarely. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Concession stand. Yep. Jason Corley: Do we ever sit on a tailgate and bitch about Pam? ⁓ Because Pam doesn't matter to us. Does that make sense? ⁓ So, I mean, yes, you're going to have drama on every team no matter where you go. There's going to be drama because it's a melting pot of humanity. So you're going to have little bits of it. But this is the shit that interests me. This is the shit that I value. I value these moments with coaches like him, with coaches like... Marcos with all of them, Coach Beam, Coach Beto, all of them. just, Jacob Moreno: Even with Skyler, man, like just hearing his insight. No, yeah, yeah, but I'm just saying like even he's not even in the travel ball world. He's in the softball world. But just hearing his insight and the knowledge he has and how he sees things. We always talked about the beginning. Are we going to interview people? If we are, are we ever going to get credible people? Jason Corley: Yeah, Skylar's a brother. Skylar's a brother. Yeah. Jacob Moreno: We've done a good job, man. I think every time we've stepped up and got 1 % better. Jason Corley: Yeah, that's a very good point. Every day we're getting a little bit better. Not that the beginning guests weren't at this level. That's not what we're saying. We're just saying that it just, with every day comes more growth, and with more growth comes more exposure, and with more exposure comes more opportunity. That's all. And that's, know, and I mean, it's not gonna be long before, well, we do have, we have an SEC. Jacob Moreno: NO! Yeah, yep. Jason Corley: pitcher that is coming on the podcast relatively shortly because now their tournament is over. I'm not going to mention any names yet, ⁓ which I'm probably already did mention a name on a previous podcast, but now that his tournaments, okay. Now that his tournament's over there, they, ⁓ they're out of the sec tournament. ⁓ he's going to be coming on. I would love to know his travel ball history and how he got to where he's at at the university is in like, w what organization did you play for? What tournaments did you play? And like, I can't wait to hear his travel ball story. Jacob Moreno: No, I don't. Yeah. Yeah. Jason Corley: Um, shout out to Colt Emerson last night. First. Did you see that? Okay. You know who Colt remember I talk about Colt a lot on Glenn. Home run last night, first night and got called up for the Mariners hit a home run to right field had 17 people fly in from Ohio to watch him and he hit one over the wall. Yeah. Just awesome. Just in his story is just incredible. I just love it. So I, HUD is a huge Colt Emerson fan. Like that's another shortstop from. Jacob Moreno: No. ⁓ nice. Nice. Congratulations, kid. Jason Corley: New Concord, Ohio, not far from here and just his, his path, ⁓ both HUD and Colt, ⁓ are proud to love Jesus in front of everybody that you don't mean. So it just, HUD appreciates who he is and what he stands for. So I, follow him pretty closely and super proud of Colt. So shout out to Colt. If you're listening, which I doubt you are, but, yeah, shout out. If this gets to you, man, congratulations and dad, mom. Jacob Moreno: Shout out kid. Jason Corley: Congratulations. Like I can only imagine what that feeling is like for dad to dad from dad to dad. Congratulations pal. So I, which if your dad wants to come on and tell us the story of your life, we would love to have your dad on. So, ⁓ yeah, come on pops. Yeah. Come on. Travel that. ⁓ what else, man? ⁓ next Wednesday chips, you'll be on chips performance. Alex will be on, ⁓ Tuesday we are having Mark on. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, cool. Mmm. Come on paps. You ships. Jason Corley: or talk about NIL and 12 year olds. So we've got a lot going on, but it's a Thursday. It's happening. Thursday is a big one. It's going down. It's going down. I ran through the topics today with Tony and he gave me the thumbs up. The only thing he did not want to dabble in, which I will dabble in right now is this let them play act. And I'm sure it's because, ⁓ you know, ⁓ Jacob Moreno: Thursday's a big one. Jason Corley: Yeah. He's way more important than we are. So he asked a lot. Yeah. His words matter. Ours don't. So I'll go ahead and say, I, I had a conversation with Skylar today, dude, Skylar read that entire bill like front to back and then backwards and then had it interpreted into French. I feel like, like he dissected this thing. Do you know that this whole bit, do you know that bill includes us? You and me. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Yeah, we're just two dads. Why us? Jason Corley: Because we're where we could potentially be seen as profiting from youth from youth sports. This is everything. This is everything. This is every trainer. This is every lesson. This is every facility. This is every club. This is every podcast. This is every comedian who makes money off of talking about travel ball. This is all of us. This is every single one of us. This is not just Jacob Moreno: ⁓ Oooooh Jason Corley: the PG's, you triple SA's, the Ripkens of the world. This is you and me. Yep. And if we can't prove that we are not, ⁓ what is the word? that we don't have vindictive. I don't remember what the word he used, but it starts with the V. If we don't have some certain intent, we have to prove that we don't have an intent of malicious intent or something along those lines. Yeah, it's not even vindictive. It's something else. It's a different word, but it's along those lines. have to, if this goes through, we will have to prove that we don't have bad intentions and trout, or we can lose it all. Like lose everything. So Jacob Moreno: ⁓ it's vindictive. Jason Corley: It's not just, it ain't just the big kid. They're coming for all of us. They're coming for Skylar. They're coming for everybody. So, ⁓ we're definitely going to have to get involved. We'll definitely have get loud. And, yeah, I don't know if I want to have a conversation with a staffer on a bill of, of something that's trying to shut you and me down. Like, why would I, I don't know if I could keep my shit together. If I was going to, like, I don't think I'm the one to have that conversation. Jacob Moreno: involved. Yeah. Jason Corley: I think Skyler's perfect for it, but not me. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. So what you're saying is I'm going to need a fire truck, not a fire extinguisher. Jason Corley: No, what I'm saying is, that Skyler might have to guest co-host and I might just have to sit that one out. That's what I'm saying. So, but I don't, you know what? I don't, I feel like he's got a quick trigger too. He's got a trigger. He's triggering. So I'm not sure you might have to do this one on your own. You might have to talk to a Senator alone. Can you imagine you talking to a Senator alone? Bro, I can love you, but that Jacob Moreno: ⁓ Yeah. He does. He does. He does. ⁓ Nope. You know I won't do it on my own. This'll be a shit show. ⁓ ⁓ Jason Corley: that might be worth its weight in gold. Jacob Moreno: Do you think if I spoke to him in Spanish, I should be in my house within a couple hours? Jason Corley: ⁓ that's how they could avoid it. That's how they could. No, it wouldn't because they're Democrats. So they wouldn't. They would. Yeah. Yeah. Right. So did I just change your opinion on the bill? Now you want them to show us? Jacob Moreno: ⁓ Yeah, yeah, no, no. What was the word? Venomous, vicious, villainous, vengeful. I know, I looked it up. That was the words, vindictive, vicious, villainous, vengeful, venomous. Jason Corley: I don't know. What? No, I don't know. It's over. I'm over it. I'm over it. That's how long. What is it? I think I don't know. I don't know whatever it doesn't matter All right. That was good. It was good. Oh Yeah, I'll have time to get this up. What time is it? Jacob Moreno: We're at hour 40. 830. Jason Corley: It's eight 30. ⁓ okay. It's early. I can get this one up. So, ⁓ shout out to Danny, Danny junk crushed it last night. Thank you so much, man. Shout out to coach Adrian, all access. I think, I think my graphic today of the porta potty was epic. think it was. Yes. And like I, dude, I was so going to, but I was just like, man, that just like, I don't want him to shut this down before it comes on. Jacob Moreno: ⁓ dude, he said that was hilarious. If you should have put a call for a fun time. Hehehehehe Jason Corley: So I was even going to change and close this, lid of the porta potty seat instead of having it open. Uh, but I was like, ah, no, it will be all right. And then was going to, I was thinking about putting like all the teams that I could think of, like on the wall, like, you know, and, uh, yeah, kind of thing. But I just ran with it and I was just like, well, is again, shoot my shot. He's either going to love it he's going to hate it. And, uh, uh, we did get great feedback, but yeah, JD loved it. JD was dying. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. like stickers. Yeah. Jason Corley: When he saw it, was just like, just, he's like, this is incredible. He's like, this is incredible shit. And, uh, shout out to Davey. Yeah. Shout out to our shout out to our secret source. So Davey, thank you. Thank you for the ammunition. We have a couple more that we'll hit him up on the next time, the next segment. And, uh, we will get to the one of, of, we'll put him, we'll put coach Adrian in a box. We'll make him choose. We'll make him choose his favorite assistant coach. Yeah. We'll do something like the lasso of truth or something, and we'll just make him, he'll have to answer it. Jacob Moreno: That's funny Yep. Thank you for the questions. ⁓ yeah. Yep. Jason Corley: So in order to get out of the podcast, I'll have to answer it. So. Jacob Moreno: We might be here all night. Jason Corley: I know, right? So, all right, man, let's get out of here. do we have anything else that we didn't cover? You already did your live read that you butchered. Um, we got some things we got to go in there and take out. Uh, you got those marked. Okay. You have the times marked because we talked about some, some certain signs that kids do and we don't want to give those away before a tournament. So, um, yeah. And it sounds like coach doesn't give two craps about best of the best, does it? He's just like, he's like, this is a privileged tournament. I'm just like. Jacob Moreno: Yeah, I have the times. No. No. Yeah. Jason Corley: ⁓ buddy, we've never been there. Yeah, so I know. I know. Hey, you know what though? So here's a here's a little little last nugget. So Coach Scott, you know, he comes up to me on Sunday at the tournament. He's like, he's like, yeah, he's like, he's like Thursday should be good. You know, he's like Thursday should be good with Tony. It's like, yeah, I'm looking forward to it. It's like, why don't you ask him why we didn't get our bid? I go, probably not going to ask him that, you know, probably not. Jacob Moreno: You were thinking like, we didn't get the privilege. I can ask him. Jason Corley: So listen, I asked him today. I asked him today. I go, just so you know, said, Coach Scott wants me to ask you why we didn't get a bid for best of the best after he was told that we would get a bid for going down to Kentucky in the fall. I said, but, and then I did the three dots. And I said, but, and then you could tell he was getting ready to type back up, but I already know the answer to this question. I said, it's because he took a team that wasn't ours and they stunk the join up. Jacob Moreno: ⁓ did you? Yeah. Jason Corley: And he goes, that's exactly why. And I was just like, okay, I've just, you know, so I'm sure Tony would have been fine talking about it, but it was not something that I wanted to, I already knew the answer to this. So why, why bring it up? You know what I mean? And there's other things that I want to, I want to talk to Tony about as far as this and ⁓ Tony wants to talk about rankings. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Yeah. okay, let's talk about it. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Is that what you have? Right? That is not what I was expecting. So I was like, okay, I have a new opinion. I think you're going to appreciate my new opinion, but my education has evolved since doing this podcast. And now I have a different opinion on rankings in the first podcast that we did where we trashed them. I do. anyways, all right, man, let's get out of here. Okay. ⁓ we'll talk tomorrow. Love you. See you. Bye. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Alright. Alright, love you, see you, bye.
