Yeah, so that's about it. How about you? Jason Corley: Yeah. Belly you belly issues again? No? Migraines. Hmm. Can't help you with those. I don't get those. I don't get those very often. I can't tell you last. Jacob Moreno: No, migraine ⁓ I used to get them about twice a week for a long time and then I stopped. Then today is the first one I got in a while. And it just killed me today, man. Well, last night I went to bed with it, woke up behind the eyes. Jason Corley: Yeah. Try. Jacob Moreno: Just try to relax all day. What about you? Jason Corley: ⁓ yeah, just busy, busy, busy. Gotta leave for Florida on Thursday. So ⁓ yeah, and we won't be home for three weeks. So it's just a lot to get done in a short amount of time and thought we were gonna have off tomorrow. I think tentatively I've been told that we have booked a guest for tomorrow that was totally unexpected. ⁓ but I haven't talked to him since this morning on the phone and sounded really, really promising. But he also was entering the transfer portal this morning as he was talking to me on the phone. So I've texted him a couple of times this afternoon and haven't heard back. So I don't know if maybe something happened or I don't I just I don't know. But I also know too that he could be playing in a game right now. ⁓ because he went up to Connecticut. No, not no. He went up to Connecticut to play summer ball. He left the team. And yeah, he left ⁓ he left the current team. Jacob Moreno: Mm-hmm. ⁓ that's right. okay. Jason Corley: And ⁓ went up to join a host family and play summer ball in Connecticut while he was waiting on the portal stuff to happen. So if that works out, then we will have that tomorrow night. So that could be very interesting. I spent about a 45 minutes on the phone with him today and finally I decided to tell him like just stop talking, save this, save all of this. ⁓ but again, another another young man, another kid in my book. I've got I've got a daughter older than him that Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Jason Corley: Going through the transfer portal, the the business of college sports, man. Chewing kids up, spitting them out, and ⁓ trying to yeah, he's trying to to figure out what his next move is. And it's yeah, I just very s I talked to him long enough to know. Jacob, you and I, we've been around the block a few times. And ⁓ I think we're pretty good at reading people and I th he feels very genuine and his story is definitely Jacob Moreno: in the moon. Jason Corley: His his story is a good one. It's a really good one. And we're gonna have to be very careful to not let him trip on his own toes because ⁓ this this is all new to and I told him we would. I said, We will protect you. We're not gonna let you listen, I'm a dad, you're a dad. To us, you're you're an ex like you're a kid, and we're not gonna let you say or mention anything that could jeopardize a future opportunity for you. Like we will cut that shit. ⁓ Well you know. Well shoot, I was to be honest with you, I was spraying off ⁓ baseball pants with my pressure washer and I was like ⁓ I actually did a video about it, a little update. And I was like, you know, these under armored pants are pretty good and ⁓ and I was trying to cut the grass and then and then I had a I had a lot of phone calls come in 'cause, you we're doing that podcast thing and Jason Corley: Yeah. You too. Yeah. Mark: We're we're just kinda that's going on then and then I had a bunch of clubs that just c came in my la email today, some new some new dates that I'm gonna be doing this year and and then you're trying to schedule flights and and I've got a I've got an agent, a manager, and your emails and it's like, okay, and it's like Monday and then I leave colo Colorado on ⁓ Wednesday morning and then I go Thursday, I'll be in Atlanta and then I'll be right after that, I think is ⁓ Naples and and I don't know, then I'm Oklahoma or something for a tournament. So yeah, it's ⁓ It's it's fun. I love it. I ain't even lying. It's a black like I was busy last year, ⁓ and it went by 'cause it was all brand new and we'll get into it all. Are we started yet? Okay, so ⁓ you know, last year ⁓ went by so fast because the first part of the year was like, Hey, you know, you you do you wanna do c ⁓ do you want a headline at a comedy club? And I was like, Yeah, because I did a Jason Corley: Yeah, yeah. Jacob Moreno: Is. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah, we're yeah, we're rolling. Mark: I did a comedy like evening night at a baseball facility in Ohio ⁓ with a com comedian Josh Sneed was his name. And super guy. And he had me out, and I didn't understand the ways of the comedy world because I was doing everything else. I was I was appearing at tournaments, I was getting flown to tournaments for years with different organizations, and then I was doing c you know speaking engagements. I had the two companies already, the MP3 baseball and the Solero Shades, which I'm sure you've seen, you that I've talked Jason Corley: Okay. Mark: about forever and ⁓ you know and and I got fired, you know, but because of all this seven years ago. So so now last year fast forward and I'll fill y'all in with all that, but fast forward to now this past year. Jacob Moreno: You Mark: Really the beginning of last year is when it started. And so then I went around for like a few ⁓ the the improv reached out. Said, there look, we they've seen a couple clips, some of the some of the baseball moms knew some of the people in California and the improvs, which ended up going up the ladder to the the management team of the entire improv organization who were all travel ball people. And then my agent now I have an agent with I'm a CAA agency and I have a manager. They were all involved with travel balls. So it all kind of happened like on the same week where everybody was like, hey, listen, we got this dude. He's doing this this comedy stuff with his travel ball. And I had no idea what I was doing. I was on stage and I was I was talking and I was like, sh all right, let me just tell my story of how I got started. And then and then in the all last year was like crazy. And then it was like, we're gonna book you for more dates now that you have an agent now. So then it grew and then it was like Jason Corley: Okay. Mark: Okay, what happened last year? Because all I did was just I tried to better the show throughout the whole year. And and I've I've met people and I couldn't keep up and it was like, okay, now I'm here and then here's another tournament that I gotta go to and then I'm missing all my kids' stuff. So it was I was funny, I was talking to about this somebody today. ⁓ November I told myself, I said, You are gonna have a really busy twenty twenty six. You had a year to get this under your belt where it was backwards as a comedian. Because the thing that I've been hearing is that they're like, You're really good at this. You're different than then other influencers that come up here, sell these clubs out with their following, do shit kinda can I cuss, do Jason Corley: Yes. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Mark: do shit kind of performance, but it worked for a year. Well now they're coming back. And I have these high level comedians telling me, listen, you're good at this. You're you got all the tools. You're starting to hear it. You're like, okay, and you're hearing it from everybody across the country. And and now I got these shows and people are coming back. I just Zany's is a new one that's getting ready to come up. So I told myself in November, I said, I'm going to I'm going every my wife got more involved in this. It got real organized. We have all of the the flights taken care of. I know my calendar's got everything on it. I know where I'm at. I know when I'm leaving. I know what cards to use, what credit cards and fly what hotels to stay at. Jacob Moreno: You Mark: I've like this is where I want to be. Now now I'm getting driven to some of these things. I got like drivers that pick me up because I got like a pretty cool thing going on. I've got a really, really good management team and they they're they're like they're real big into everything, like found and all the deal. And ⁓ they're in New York and I gotta go down there and they come to my shows. It's it's awesome. It's freaking awesome. And and so this year, dude, I said, you know what? For seven years six years, there's been this has been for me for six years. Jason Corley: Okay. Sure. Mark: And the highs and the lows and every single thing you can think of has been has happened probably. Just all of it. Everything you can imagine. Friendships gone here and there. Just the family situation. You're not in a cubicle anymore. You're flying all over the country for the first time. Everybody's in your face in the travel baseb with the baseball community. You can still go other places and you're nobody knows who you are, but the airports now are getting bigger, you know. So I tell myself, you know Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: Well, that's another thing, you know, because for three years, man, I was trying to learn how to travel because it's exhausting. But if you do it all the time, you learn how to make it not exhausting once you hit this point where you 'cause I fly every week now. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Yes. Mm-hmm. Mark: And it's like I have a routine, I know how to get it, I know the airports now, I know where to go, I know how to get a car, I know who's picking me up, I know which hotels to stay at, which ones not, how to check in, my phone does everything. That doesn't just happen overnight, you know, because like I said, I was in a cubicle for 17 years doing electric design work and now for the last seven years I've been an influencer and entrepreneur and now a comedian, you know, and it's every strength that I've ever done in the past has come back and I'm using it right now. And so I'm I think I've got it figured out. It took it took a minute, you know, but like things are I'm I'm I'm do I'm trying you know, I'm going, I'm ready. Like let's get this 'cause I can see it. And the stories that I can't talk to you about, what could be what's going on in the future, it's cool, man. I mean, there's been some writers talking to me, you know, a lot of meetings about, hey, you know, this is a real good story about your life. And ⁓ boy it'd be looking good on it as a sitcom, you know, and and have somebody come in. So there's been that kind of stuff going on and Jacob Moreno: Hmm. Mark: Never mind all the companies that I've worked with and now I understand rates and what I'm worth, you know, and that's a thing nobody ever tells you. And so, but anyways, that's that's my thirty five minute intro. How long we took here? I thought y'all were gonna shut up. Jacob Moreno: No, ⁓ no, Jason Corley: Literally, I swear to God. What was it, Jacob? Last week I was like, listen, you know, I've been I've been talking about you coming on for well since since you and I you were like, Yeah, I'll do it. Let's go. I immediately was just start I started telling everybody and started to push the you know push the information out there. And Jacob and I have been flirting with this on podcast, and I was like, now Jacob, listen. We said tonight, tonight's the first night we have zero notes. There's no point of having any notes at all. At all. And I was like, Mark: ⁓ yeah, no, no. You asked me a question. Jacob Moreno: He said no. Jason Corley: I said, Jacob, you might not say a word tonight. I literally warned him. I literally warned him. Mark: Yeah. I'm working on that. I mean I I understand that you know, podcasts you come on, they want to hear me and the questions you have. So but but I have that's another thing. I've had to relearn how to act Jacob Moreno: Hey, what? Jason Corley: Yes. Mark: ⁓ I don't drink much at all hardly anymore. You know, I never that wasn't ever an issue. It's just I'm you gotta be healthy. Like I'm really healthy right now. No, listen, I'm Kentucky Bourbon, did I get it? But and and look, I I like to have fucking time. But like I really got to a point where I was like, okay, you I like waking up early. I like going to bed early. And ⁓ Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mark: Now I'm really back into the gym. It's like, okay, you know, I'm on stage. I'm very sober, you know, and and I'm very clear, because I need remember, like I got to that, you need it word for word now. Here's what you're saying. Okay, that doesn't work. You have to say this. And then, you know, if you do a Fortnite show, you know, the last one, you're in Vegas at a Kimmel deal, it's like, yeah, let's let's get a little buzz, go up there and just say whatever. And ⁓ but but right now it's like this has to be professional. You know, I want it to look good on social media. Jason Corley: Right. Mark: Because it's my it's me, it's my brand, you know? And it's the same thing that you get it, like your stuff's cool and I don't get into you know, you like you you develop a thick skin in the in the influencer world too, about, you know, comments Jason Corley: Yeah. What do you what do you think about that word? Yeah. Mark: Influencer. And people think it's a easy job. Jason Corley: I mean, but like when did when did that definition start defining people that happen that have a following? Mark: I don't know. I it's it's just another word for, you know, ⁓ well, you know, ⁓ I hate I I don't I don't like saying it neither. I like I don't even like saying entrepreneur. I like to say I just I don't know, I feel like it's a douchey little like I'm an entrepreneur, like what the fuck I mean yeah, dude exactly. It's like I still know how to spell that stupid word. I like now it's just Martin Paul comedian. And then I own, you know, I'm a business owner of yeah, and Jason Corley: I hate it. Well ⁓ Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: I don't like to say shit I can't spell Jacob Moreno: Okay. Jason Corley: Right. Yes. Jacob Moreno: business owner. Mark: Now I'm kinda doing some some agent type stuff with look a lot of these kids are getting into that level that followed me when they were thirteen, fourteen and and now, you know, I'm doing all this other stuff. I'm not doing the videos kind of started, but you know it is, you can't keep doing the same thing forever and you gotta evolve. And and so ⁓ you know, now these kids are getting into the, you know, colleges and high school that's really were were huge for me. Cause like I said it's been seven years. So I know a lot of them and now I I've I'm so in the know in the baseball companies across the the world. And they I mean I've got a lot of their you know the owners' numbers in my phone now. I've been to ton of the all the Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: stuff. All the ABCAs, all the tournaments across the country, all the now it's could be it looks like it's gonna be outside the country. There's some Dominican Republic and Australia and even Dubai talk. And ⁓ you know, and and and so it's it's cool man. I forgot what I say and I lost train of thought. Wait what was I saying before that I was sorry, I was I was on a roll there. Wait a minute. I was like traveling around the country. I was going what was it? What what was the question? Jacob Moreno: you Jason Corley: No Jacob Moreno: You were talking about knowing the boys, knowing ⁓ the boys that are now in the college that you grew up with. Mark: ⁓ yeah yeah. So I've been able to help them dudes, you know, like here's somebody you can kinda talk to. Here's kind of your worth. Jason Corley: Mm. Jacob Moreno: Hmm Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: This is your following. This is kinda and I've done that to a few. Like you had a dude on the other night that ⁓ does some travel ball coach stuff and and I said, Well, well, he says a lot of things that I thought was ⁓ kind of where my mind yeah, my mindset was. And he's a younger coach and and I could hear him talking and I was thinking, okay, well, you're really knowledgeable. ⁓ I was like, but there's a whole other world of this travel that most people doesn't don't see because most people are just in their own area. Jason Corley: Skylar. Yeah. Right. Mark: You know, and and the few you know, the few higher percentage is like, well, we're gonna pay to play everywhere. And and then the ages and stuff. So I I got really into coaching and that's another thing. I got a you know, I got a organization that I I'm starting to get rolling on and I've been taking this team that I've been messing with for the last, you know, probably ten years, just kind of here and there and picking up kids and you know, really really getting good or four or fifteen now and and we played some high, you know, top teams in the country. Jacob Moreno: Mm-hmm. Jason Corley: You started when they were five? Mark: Well, yeah, of ⁓ are six. We would well, no, ⁓ like some of the kids we would be in this area. It was like they're pretty good and then we would we kinda kept you know, the my son would play with ⁓ and it was like, Hey, we're going to Illinois to play and you're eleven now. You want to go pick up? And I was supposed to coach and so I started coaching kids in different states and I kinda kept in touch with them and their parents were cool and I like, Man, like that kid's a good shortstop. I mean that kid's a good third baseman. If you just y'all wanna meet like here in like, you know, March or or or October. So we did it when we were twelve, thirteen, fourteen, eleven. Jason Corley: Right. Mm. Mm. Right. Mark: We did it all these ages and ⁓ then I got you know going in the baseball world and and so then you're you know you're you're starting to see my son was you know playing at a high level, so you're able to meet some of these other people and I'm like, man, your son's really good. Next thing you know you're meeting them and then you develop a pretty solid team of kids that weren't necessarily able to be really seen, you know, because they couldn't really be in that PG world and So then that started and then it went to a a ten U team and then a thirteen U team's getting ready to be announced and it's all like s high level stuff. And so we're doing showcase type tournament stuff. Jason Corley: Okay, I have a question. I have a question that just this is popping up as you're talking about it. How does he how does your son balance dad in and like how do you how how d how do you balance that like of him? Mark: Jalen's a little different breed, man. Well, so it's different yeah, we've been on the field, so I co like and that's the thing. I I don't I'm good to you can ask anybody that's played for me. They're gonna be like, Yeah, you solid dude on that field. Cause everybody knows what's going on. Kids, I got I got teenagers. My daughter boyfriend, some of his buddies, high-level, you know, high school kids, get ready to go to some rules. Someone's going D one and ⁓ they're helping out. And one of them's going to school for sports management. So I've got I've got me, these, these college kids, and I have another group of dads who are ⁓ ones like the the accounting guys, real smart numbers. I got a D one type coach out there. You know, you're able to have everybody's got a job out there and everything's organized. And I want a professional look on the field and I know when to play in the tournaments, and I'm supposed to plan to get these. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: He's the game changer guy? Mark: Kids scene because I wanted to use my platform to start another platform to help kids kind of build their brand and I'm not trying to take any money from it. Eventually it would be nice to get paid. I'm playing a lot of this up front, but it was like it was a good way for me to use it as a marketing kind of tool. So I could be like, Here's my hats, here's you know, you uniforms, put the solar shades on the kids. That's doing great, by the way, right now. It's we got sixty ⁓ L B players or anything. And I remember ⁓ you heard a lot, be like, man, dang this could be a reality show, you know. And and if anybody could do it, it probably could be you. And I and so my daughter was, you know, 13, 14. She was like Jason Corley: Okay. Mark: Dad, you need to get on TikTok. And I didn't have any social media stuff. And I was just not into it. ⁓ never really had a MySpace. ⁓ I had a Facebook I did some AOL instant messenger, you know, texting when the parents went to bed at, you know, fourteen, stuff like that. Being like, ⁓ my god, you know, Nikki signed on. That was great. And ⁓ Jason Corley: Okay. Yeah. ⁓ Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Yeah, yeah. Mm-hmm. Jacob Moreno: You Mark: And I remember ⁓ it was our last year, we were all kind of some of the kids were gonna go to a different l you know, age, some of the kids were older and we're gonna play up in our age groups. And we were like, All right, time to make teams and everybody was just kinda like, I'm gonna do what we want this year, I'm gonna say what I want, I don't care what that coach said. And I was over here being like, you know what? And so I started, you know, just kinda I was like, You can't make fun of people Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: you can record ⁓ That was kind of my thing. And I've done that a few times and people bite my head off now, but I don't do it a ton. But you so my thought was, Well, what if you just were the same person? And so that was the safer way for me. Because I was like, you're gonna make fun of you're gonna start talking about some scenarios. Your friends are gonna know. And to be fair, like a lot of them were, and it was still funny, but I did hit some of them where they were like, I think I know how it's about me. And it was like, man, so here's my defense now, because that's been a minute. I was like, you know what? If I really wanted to do a video on you, I'd have done a video on you and your kid, you know, and I was very much Jason Corley: Yeah. Right. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Right. Yes. Jacob Moreno: You Mark: changing stories and whatnot and in the names and whatever and ⁓ you know and then it just slowly kind of trickled up it never was everybody's like when did it just blow it just blew up for you and I was like no I I remember getting invited to s a few things that were like hey would you like to speak at this and I was it was very TikTok early nothing else Jason Corley: Okay. Mark: I was in IT for a little bit, so it was like, you know, you you pride in your figure out how do you get more views? How do you get more followers? I I was into testing, you know, because of that past and design work. So I was like, you know, I had a I met some people that were like, man, we were playing Fortnite together. And I met some people and they were like, you know, they were involved in these these baseball companies that I was at. We hooked up, we stayed, we got drunk one night, stayed in touch, and and we were like, you know, because man, you know, you could you can you could sell some stuff. And I was like, Yeah, everybody's doing that. And so I started making Jason Corley: Okay. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Yeah. Right. Mark: these t-shirts and then I was still working in my cubicle and stuff as an electric designer doing this code was just happening now. So I'd go next door because a baseball field next door and I'd I'd go out there and wear the I'd wear a shirt and I'd I'd wear a couple characters and I had four shirts and it was the main outfield matters wherever you say blue and stuff like that. And I'm out there doing my thing and then I'd go back in the office and I'd edit the videos on the computer and I'd sit there and it hooked up Shopify because I was kind of getting into the websites I had a buddy helping me out and I was I was just now getting Jason Corley: Okay. Mark: ready to start getting into Facebook and Instagram because I was like, man, what if this TikTok thing gets deleted? Like that worked hard for my fifty thousand followers. And thinking of this, because I was always like, man, like could you really because I didn't know yet. I didn't know anything yet. And then Jason Corley: Right. Right. Mark: So I started doing the shirts and it was like hitting I'm like dang like and and all I seen was ⁓ my god like I made all this money. It was like five thousand dollars in a day. But but I didn't understand product placement. I didn't understand shipping. I didn't understand all this other stuff. And Jason Corley: Sure. Mark: So we got in you I was ob obviously making, you know, a very small percentage of that money and and like I said, it's been seven years of this, so so you gotta learn that. And so the HR department was all baseball moms, and so they were like, Listen, you know, there was some things being said and they're like, He's never at his test. I wasn't there wasn't a ton of people in the office. My boss was a jerk and he'd have getting fired after I'll got fired. And so I Jason Corley: Right. Jacob Moreno: Hehehehehe Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: I didn't care and I was I was pushing my wife. I was like, Can I quit? 'Cause I bet I could do this full time and and I the thing what it was was that I got I got fired recently. I actually got fired about four years ago for this for the a good job I had. Longer story, we'll get in that another day. It's the IT stuff. It was it was a I should have been fired, but it was for work related. It wasn't like I was doing anything wrong. I c I didn't know how to code and they set me up with a position that I couldn't really I was an electric designer, couldn't didn't understand the IT where I was managing like thirty dudes from India and I was like and they loved me. Don't get me wrong. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Hmm. Mark: People in the office love me. I was always a be I was like, What's up, Sherry? Like, what you bring today in the little crock pot? And I was like, No, I ain't eating heavy. I'm not eating heavy stuff. Like, I ain't eating that shit. You know, that stuff was I was all into that and everybody's floaty and it was fun. And good people, great to those places. And so So yeah, long story short, you know, I get it and well, and I knew what it was like to be fired and be shit, now I'm cutting grass. So I was thinking Jason Corley: ⁓ how bad. Jacob Moreno: Yeah You Jason Corley: Yeah. Jacob Moreno: You Mark: My wife had a good job and I'm like, you know, she could kind of keep 'cause she cuts hair, she her mom and her own barbershop together. And I was like, you know, she she's good. And I was like, you know what the hell this I'm just made five grand today. Like, we're good. And I and so they fired me. And and and then I was like, it was go time. ⁓ and that was I almost like I had a second 'cause I got fired before I was ready to just end it all. I like, ⁓ my god, I lost a six figure job and I got fired and nothing and I had to pay a bunch of school stuff back and then I'm cutting grass the next day and I got dog shit on my face, it sucked and so Jason Corley: Yeah. Right. Mark: So, but I'm a redneck, you what I It's I've that shit. So I got a lot of jobs. So anyways, so did the sunglasses. Realized margins weren't really there on t-shirts. Did the this this But it looked, dude, I did it. I got the stuff from overseas. You know, we were doing it high level. You're making packages. I got shit all I got shirts all over the place. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, well listen, I'm gonna need to talk to you afterwards because my apparel, our swag shop, sucks and I had to delete it because it's like they sent they sent me they sent me the samples and I was just like I Yeah. No, it wasn't about the money. Jacob Moreno: Mm-mm. Mark: Dude, I'm gonna tell right now, you can't make a lot of money off T shirts. All right. And it's gonna be hard to sell a bunch of t shirt. Now because the margins. So that's kinda where sunglasses came into play. Started doing the sunglasses thing on the MP three website. That went into Solero Shades because we met with some agents. I had some MLB dudes follow and I was thinking, bro, if we could get these MP threes on some of these players. It and keep in mind I'm very early. I'm just still making money off this website and we're and I'm splitting it with and I'm and I'm now I'm going to tournaments because they're like, Hey, you wanna come to some of these tournaments, we'll pay you. Well then everybody kinda had their Jason Corley: Right. Mark: ⁓ Mark's bringing teams in and we're making all this money and trust me, y'all talk tournament directors, you should be me. It and you learn it. But the thing is that they didn't know nobody was bringing influencers out to you know a tournament. And so Jason Corley: Right. But what would okay, so why though? Why bring it why bring an influence with the tournament? Mark: Because I can announce that I'm going there and then do content there and they're like, dang, that place looks like fun. I want to go there. Like I just went to Georgia. There was two hundred there was two hundred and fifty-eight teams in Georgia. Just got back from Gainesville a month ago. And a good tournament dude out there, Tim Gaines. And he he said sixty teams were brand new, which are sanctioned teams that that the tournament director gets money for because they're brand new teams playing in that organization. Jason Corley: Okay. Jacob Moreno: Mmm. Mark: Like the level that travel ball gets to is very different than some of these people being like, I'm telling you right now, I can't believe my kid can't play short style. Well I mean we talk about this on the show. Ninety percent of travel ball's great. It's ten percent sucks robot. That's all you see on social media. I never Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Jason Corley: ⁓ yeah, I know. Yeah. I agree. I agree. Mark: That that 258 team tournament with the 60 brand new teams that Mark Paul brought in and made a whole bunch of people money. Because I brought in teams like that, which brings people into hotels, which is like, damn. So then I get comped hotels for some of my teams. Like, shit, he's packing this place on a weekend where nobody came out here. Now we've just tripled our our money in this area because there's kids there's teams from different states. I tried to get this. I look, here we go. Edit this one. I tried to do this in my hometown. Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: Because I brought in a lot of revenue to different states across the country, but frowned upon when you're an influencer in your hometown. So there you go. There's your clip. Edit that. And ⁓ that's Mark Paul, P.O. Box, seven two mountwashes. But ⁓ I But no man, like ⁓ that's kinda you know, that and then that was happening and then it was like Jacob Moreno: See Jason Corley: Yeah, yeah. Jacob Moreno: Mm. Ahem. Mark: So then I signed, you know, this contract with this tournament and then they were like, you know, you can only be here and then it was fine because I was like, dude, like, all right, cool. So now I had money kinda coming in from my website. I had some money coming in, but we was everybody was they got their hand in it. And I knew it. Like I would knew it. And I was like, you know what? I still was like, This is n you're not gonna be rich for a while. Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: You're gonna have to to learn this system. And I needed to understand who was who in the baseball world. And I I started meeting all the companies. I needed to know who was who in the baseball coaching world. Who was really travel ball teams? Who was it? What are the good tournaments to go to? What are not? Same thing with comedy now. Where's my spots at? You know, that I need to go to to bring in a big crowd. So Jason Corley: Yeah. Jacob Moreno: Mm-hmm. Mark: Did a ton of stuff with a bunch of different ⁓ companies, Hilton, Gatorade, Direct TV, Sirius XM. I did a I was a brand ambassador for Hilton. They flew me to Lake Tahoe, my wife, and it was awesome, dude. I was like, but I didn't get paid a crazy tons. I didn't have an agent. Jason Corley: Right. Right. Mark: So everybody's saying, ⁓ you're rich. You got all this money all the time because everybody's just mostly nice to post a video as a woman and get all this money from Facebook. No, dude. I get like maybe $1,500 on social media, and I've got a million followers across my platform because it's different on TikTok than it is on Instagram, than it is in Meta and Facebook, and then LinkedIn's a thing now, and YouTube's a thing, and I'm doing that with the podcast you all are. And so I'm like, you can't rely on it. Then forget TikTok, because China was involved, and I was sometimes getting money, and I was like, where's this going? And who knows? Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Right. Jacob Moreno: Mmm. Yeah. Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: about all my in you know personal stuff. So I said screw it. So I don't even mess with TikTok and I got a decent sized following over there. But Instagram is businesses, Facebook is parents' credit cards, you know, Facebook pages are is the Instagram version of the business that you know. And so you're able to connect everything Jason Corley: Yes. Mark: I didn't have a marketing degree. I enjoyed marketing now. ⁓ my God, if you're in marketing now, wouldn't it be a great anybody get jobs? And and now I've built this thing to where I've had these companies say, listen, if if this ends, we'd love to talk. Because I've had people call me. I've had I've done things on LinkedIn with doctors about how to build your social media brand. I've done things with gyms on how to help them build their brand, their marketing, how to promote it. And and look, the people are paying me to do this all on the side. I can't do it right now because I'm traveling all over the place. But like I really like. Jason Corley: Well yeah. Mark: design. I really like marketing. I like making the all the clips you see, I do it. Now now the podcast I'm not doing. We're we're getting somebody to kind of pay that. My business partner, you know, Vince, the guy opens for me, Vince Carone. Shout out to him. Solid mentor in the comedian world. Very sharp dude. Videos on my shows. It's looking real real nice. And so we're we're pumped about our podcast stuff. But Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I want to get into that. I wanna get in like what spurred like what like where did that come from? Like what what spurred that I think? Mark: I've been tell everybody's been telling me to do it forever and I was always like, Man, I don't wanna do it. I went around and I was just I was on everybody's show and then I would talk on everybody's show and then ask me questions about baseball and how to coach and kids and what to do and whatnot. And then those answers were like, damn, like he kinda knows what he's talking about now. Which I didn't know in the beginning because I didn't play like a ton of sports. And that was always like, ⁓ my God, like you don't have a background in it. I was like, well, dude, like come on, it's fucking baseball. And Jason Corley: Okay. Yeah. Mark: You know, and and I mean Jordan Jordan owned the Charlotte Bobcats and they sucked. You know what I mean? Like I'm sorry, just couldn't do it. Sorry, coach. Go shoot a freaking free throw, whatever you do. And I love Jordan. Love Jordan. But ⁓ I'm sorry if you're watching my nice. I'll be a man up and be like, This changed over the last fifteen years because it's different now than it was fifteen years ago. Jason Corley: Okay. Right. Mark: A hundred percent different now because NIL is very much involved and it's very much involved in a very young age. We can go at a whole other topic and that's look, you're gonna hear about all this stuff because I've kind of seen it at all levels. I keep going back to you. So how to get started was everybody was like, Man, we should do a podcast together and I I'm always picking everybody apart that I talk to. Like you if I didn't if I thought you were a car salesman, I wouldn't be on this thing. You're not. You you're seeing like we talked to the phone, I All right, he's he's solid. You know, you're and and I can say you're a good dude. And I Jason Corley: Yes. Yeah. But I I I asked that though because you would think that you would want to save all of your contributions to take. Mark: ⁓ yeah, dude. I don't care. I don't I that's my thing. That's like I I don't I don't care. I you get it's gotta get out there. And I I I haven't said to anything to you really. This is n I've said this a million times. I've had ⁓ you know times I've said this story? Jason Corley: Yeah, but you on your own podcast though, I'm talking about like how do you how do you keep content or do you just work it out on the podcast and then perfect it on stage? Mark: I what wait a minute, what do you mean? Stay hold on, that's that's ⁓ so the podcast thing is I want to tell people here's my thing. I feel like I got a little bit of a one up in the travel ball space because I have seen everything from different parts of the country and different times of the year, at different ages, at different levels. Jason Corley: ⁓ bring it to her. Mark: I've met the MLB side, I've done stuff with them, I know the N C double A side, you know, I know the minor league stuff, done stuff with minor leagues. Like it's been very involved, travel ball up from the banditos all the way down to the fundraising canes teams and everybody in the you know D F E's and all their little sharks and you know, bulldog teams, all the great stuff. And we're talking about we playing the same teams every weekend and go to a tournament in Florida. We play those same teams too, and then we come home and we're a travel ball team. Okay, so I Jason Corley: Mm-hmm. Jacob Moreno: You Mark: I you know, look, ⁓ I got a lot of stories about it. I have my take on it. Once I started seeing that when I coached kids at different age groups and I had the parents response, I'm sure they will res look, I'm so con and as I said, I don't wanna be arrogant, but like I got good families that I've been around even the ten you team that I don't even coach. Jason Corley: Okay. ⁓ yeah, yeah. Yeah. Mark: They're really good and their kids are good and they stayed together and I think they might stay together. The families are good, it's coached very well, and that's what I'm like, here's what you need to show off now. It's not that hard to be subdued that's at the bench all the time, who did not play in college, manage a travel baseball team of a bunch of kids in twenty twenty six, which is very different than raising kids when you were nineteen ninety eight Mark Paul on a baseball team. Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: smoke getting blowing it in your face everywhere, you're getting made fun of and you know, everything everybody was gay all the time. I was very look, I got a lot a lot of different groups I hang with on what was and that translates to substage. But I have a transgender based on my mom on social media. You see those DMs. Really? So tell ⁓ me more. No, ⁓ that's bigger than I thought. Right page is what she had in her legs. ⁓ but Jacob Moreno: you Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah, right. Jacob, did you spit that up? Jacob Moreno: I almost did. Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: Nah, man. I mean, and so anyways, I I was I finally got comfortable. I was like, okay, so this is how a a clip is about to come out on our podcast. And it was like the level, ⁓ the distances of when it changes on a baseball team. Now you're pitching at 46, now you're fifty four, sixty, okay, it changes, the pitchers change, the hitting changes, the BB core, all this stuff. And and a lot of people in today's coaching world, across youth sports in general. Jacob Moreno: He he. Mark: You know, they all like a lot of them, not all of ⁓ like to coach their team like they do their own child, which you cannot do nowadays because there's different types of kids on a team and different types of families, and some kids are used to things, and you gotta learn how to make everybody kind of feel comfortable because you'll get more out of your players and it's easier to not have to deal with drama. Jason Corley: Right. Mark: Now I've dealt with a lot of drama and forever, just like anybody else. There's nothing that that I'm sure we've all done it. But being a guy that just learnt it when it first started going, you know, like travel ball was getting going, and I was like, you know, this is how if they just do this, then you might be able to run a successful program in a team and be successful. And so You don't need to charge an arm and leg for parents of nine year olds or ten year olds or eleven. Why? I I don't care. I and you and you shouldn't care until they're in the gym. You wanna know when you should start caring about baseball, when they can work out. When you can be like you can now take care of your body so things won't happen as much. But let's not break you down before you get there. You know what I'm saying? Let's just let you learn the game mentally so you know Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Mark: I always say, you know, you get to about eleven, you could start tightening things up a little more because I always put it back that East Cobb World Series. That was a very good tournament I went to. It was a hundred eleven new teams in it. I brought a bunch of kids down there, played in it. And that was the weekend that I realized and I don't remember what year this was, that I was like, ⁓ my God, people know who I am. That was real random. Jason Corley: There in two weeks. We're there in two weeks for the fourth year in a row. Mark: ⁓ I love it there. I'm really close with Kevin Baldwin who runs that plate. ⁓ yeah, dude. It's awesome. No, the only thing that I can't stand about it is that you gotta drive real far. It's turn there's there's fields all over Georgia. Jason Corley: It's just it's it's our favorite it's our f well it's not our favorite it's not it's not our favorite tournament, but it's our favorite tournament. Jacob Moreno: That's it. You Mark: So much good baseball in Georgia though. Like so much in Nashville's and PG has got good stuff in Tennessee. I got some kids on my team from Georgia and Tennessee. They're so good, dude. The talent level in Georgia and Tennessee is re it's ridiculous. I'm gonna set it. Cut that. And I'm not anything that I'm running. And ⁓ no I didn't. And but no man, like you know, it's it's good and it's fun and and you can really see how you stack up. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Yeah. Sorry. Yep. Yep. Mark: And you can get an idea of, you know, do I really want to do this or not? And I'm not saying that there's not good teams in lower level organizations or good players across the country. It's just heavier in certain areas. And never mind out west. It's a whole other animal out there. But just because it's West and people can play all year round, doesn't mean ⁓ they're just so good. You know, so you there are it there, they have their areas out there that's not good. Look, U trip gets crapped on by everybody. Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: It's really good in certain states. It's really good who the whoever it's good they it gets crapped on if it's a bad tournament. Look, there's good all tournament organizations out there are really good. There are bad tournament directors that just make it. I'm so sorry. But the thing is is that there's not there's not as many as people think. Jason Corley: Bullshit. No, that's not true. That's not true. Jacob Moreno: You Jason Corley: Yeah, yeah. Mark: There's more good tournament directors and more good travel ball organizations than there are bad, but just like anything else on the internet, all the negative stuff gets really rowdy. Like I did a video and I always bring this up, and maybe there's a reason this happened because I can talk about it and really talk. You gotta be careful on there because you've got such a divide, just like politics in the country. There's people who are like, you need to get a trophy every day. There's people who are like, no, you're gonna win it. I did a video. Jason Corley: Yes. Jacob Moreno: Highlighted. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: Video a dad holding his son's backpack in in Vegas in a casino. Just beside the point. ⁓ and people and I was like, ⁓ my God, he's carrying his son's backbag. And it was, you how it is. Like it's son, my boy carries his backbag on the field because that's what you do. You know. And I made a harmless joke, and then there it was. Half was like, Hell yeah, on the other half was like, ⁓ my God, he's never gonna be able to play baseball again because you bullied him. And I'm gonna be like, ⁓ my god. And I got Jason Corley: Yes. Right. Right. Right. Right. ⁓ okay. Jacob Moreno: ⁓ man. Mark: I've had situations like that. That that's a whole other deal because look, ninety nine percent, it's great. But that one percent. And I've I've said shit that I shouldn't have said to kids and and I'm a dumb idiot who cusses a lot, who runs around out here Bull County. I ain't nobody. And then, you know, you you Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: Slow drinking down, keep it more PG, learn from your mistakes. What do you want me to do? You know, I bit it. That's it. People drive me nuts a lot. Why would I do that to a ten year old parent or a f a team? For what? You know what I'm saying? Now I'll charge you something like that if you're in high school, maybe, or call it maybe. We'll see. Jacob Moreno: You Mark: I don't take it that serious until you know, until they get to the gym and and you there's levels to it. You slowly get more aggressive with them as you get bigger. I'll just drive I live like five hours from him. Jason Corley: Okay. Mark: And I got a little fast car, so I'll just fly on up to Chicago and then I get me my G. O'Donnells pizza and then I bring it home and it's great. And so and I film with Vince, I'll just stay at his house. And like I said, Vince has been a good mentor to me. He's he's got a cool wife and he's got, you know, little kids. He's eleven you ⁓ like Jason Corley: Okay. Mark: He's a lovely U travel ball coach. Just took a team over. And so I'm kind of helping him with the social media thing. He's really, really good on stage. Great opener, you know. And I'm gonna be opening for him and some stuff. So so we go up there and we film and and now we've got our setup and we'd like to do we'd like to have fifty, you know, fifty three shows, which we should we got ⁓ We have everything broken down. So I'd I'll be up I'll also I'll come up there and watch some of his kids' games and stuff. But it's It's been cool, man. I I've liked I like getting stuff off my chest. I like talking about this stuff and look, you know, I but I I want it like Shannon Sharp. I want it like Theo Vaughn. I need it to look a certain way. I've got some big names that I've been talking to, like big names. And I'm like, all right, 'cause everybody's like, let me get on it. Yeah, I he asked us if we wanted to come out and do a podcast from the home run derby that he's doing. ⁓ so we're working on some logistics there, but I mean, I've got two boys that are playing at East Cobb that exact same day for their World Series. I mean it's exact same Mark: Yeah, was gonna get in that slump but you should have gotten that slump buster tournament out. That's a really good one. It's Triple Crown, I believe, who's who that's with. And I was supposed to come out there and do that, but it's just my schedule got so busy. I would couldn't bring my daddy bar team out there. And that would have been awesome to have them out there and I had some some dudes telling me some high level people were like, Yeah, we'd we'd probably come watch you before you watch some of these college games. I was like, Dang, for real 'cause I got some dudes on the team and and so I just couldn't do it and I hated that. But it was it's hard. I mean, I got a really, you know Jacob Moreno: Hmm Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: you you it's just the dates are still coming in. You know, and so but I'll be there. I'd like to be there maybe the day before, maybe I'll go and kind of walk around down there and just, you know, see some people and just like an A B it it it'll be fun. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. So would you take break? Yeah. Do you d what what time of year do you take a break from the comedy and from that? Mark: ⁓ well, I mean, it's not really all ⁓ we have times that are blocked out on our calendar. Like we're gonna like my like Amanda and the kids will like like I think Amanda's coming to meet with California and like we were able to go there. My we brought my son with me and it was during the summer and and fall break and you know, we went to Christmas in New York and like really did New York finally. First time ever. I had a show, had two shows down there. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: And then we just did everything we wanted to do down there. And it was us four and we spent Christmas. It was the first couple of weeks of and dude, have you ever just do that? I mean the home alone stuff, the carriage ride, the World Trade Center, you know, all the buildings, the food, the Chinatown, like, dude, like I could go on, like it was you know, the dismissaries. But I was pretty good in New York. But No, it was cool, man, because like it was cold and and I looked Jason Corley: No Jacob Moreno: hahahahah ⁓ Mark: We had cool outfits on and the subway was awesome. And I was like, this is awesome. I'm a I'm a dude that lives in the you know country. And I've been to the the main the big states. I've been to all all the main cities now. And I've seen I've seen a lot. And I am super appreciative, every single bit of it, because now it's really starting to be like if this end ended right now, most people would have been like, hey. Jacob Moreno: Did you guys match? Mark: Solid job there, dude. Because nobody thought this would have lasted. You know, and you see all the other people that are doing their skits now and you're like But at the same time it's like, you know, that's like I know like I always tell it like this. Mark: You know, there's people out now, everybody's got a towel on their head that feels like I'm looking out and people will send me stuff and and it's like, you know, like, you know, you did that, you know, you you you were able to record your your family's and kids' childhood to have documented proof 'cause there's a ton of stuff on my phone that's family oriented with us. You've seen all the levels of your son on the phone, it's you've s you've got it. Jason Corley: Sure. Mark: Now, you know, you're at this point now where you're like, okay, you know, we we did that. Barry, Mitch Hedberg, Sam Kennison, Eddie Murphy. I was always like, I want to, I could do that. I could be a game show host. I could be an actor. I wanted it. And now it's like here. I mean, I've literally been on the phone with I was on the phone with the the the dude that wrote the Goldbergs, you know, and he and hey we we we we talked forever about travel ball in my life and that was one of fifteen meetings about ⁓ a show and and and I don't know if that'll happen because that's the I've learned that's how it is. But the names that they're throwing around, it's like seriously, like that they know who I am and some are big ass names, like you know, and I'm like But I I I never let it go to my head. And I got a buddy whose kid that I like that stuff. I wish I was more into that. Hunting and stuff. I do a lot of reels now or it's trial reels where I keep it hidden from people that don't know me. But I'm tired that's kinda why I wanted people to see more of ⁓ okay, like he knows what he's talking about in the baseball space now. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: Like I'm comfortable enough to be on a field, any field at any level, and be like, okay, this is what needs to go on right here. Now I'm not saying I can teach you how to hit a ball perfectly. I can help a lower age kid very well and give you some good confidence, some good tips, but launch angle and all that stuff. But I could manage something and I could get the right I'm a subcontractor in the baseball world, but I'm also mentally yeah, well I and I'm good Jason Corley: Right. Jacob Moreno: Yeah. Mark: on the and I'm not a doctor and I don't claim to be, but I am real I find something that I can adapt to with each player on the field and coach and their families and the umpires. Well so I'll be honest. ⁓ you never think, you know, I was a dude working in a cubicle for a lot of years and then I didn't go anywhere alone. I didn't go out To do anything alone. We was always like, we had a kid at a very young age. We got married early. We had a kid very early. And ⁓ you know, and and we there were pros and cons to that. It was nice to be, ⁓ it's cool being 42 with a 20-year-old right now. I'm cool, dad. Look at me, I'm popular out, you know, I'm popular with our friends and and ⁓ but look, then all of a sudden dad's gone, he's getting flown around the country. Jason Corley: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: And all you see is baseball moms and hugs and podos and but it I see how I looked and then my wife took a minute to be like, okay, like she was she was really like she's so great now because there it we it goes ways. It starts off where it's like, this is funny, okay. Then it's like, okay, now you're being stupid. And then it's like, okay, now you're getting paid a little bit. And then it's like, okay, God, he got fired. Okay, now he's got sunglasses company. And so it was just and now he's gone all the time. The you know, the obviously the phone calls, the you're in the hotel and you hear everything I gotta go, I gotta call you back. You're missing my kids stuff. It sucked. I hated watching Game Changer because for a long time my wife was the the one having to work on the weekends, so she would miss some of his stuff and I didn't know what that was like. Jason Corley: Right. Mark: And I was like, dang, like it really does suck. But now it's like, hey, you know, you can come to me with some of this now. And now we can have his tournament and attach his tournaments to some of these shows. And okay, now I'm a coach who run an organization. Okay, we can go here, here, here. Okay, the money's coming in now. This is this is a pretty good job you got. Okay, but we still gotta learn business. We still gotta learn CPAs. There's taxes and stuff. Is the money better? Yes, 100% is better, but it's not. that much different than the same kind of job I had at the cubicle. You're just playing with bigger numbers. But now you've got products involved and credit cards. You could have zero money in your bank account and a hundred thousand dollar credit card and then fix it real quick, but then you're right back to the square again. That's a life you got to get used to. She knew it. She did it on a barbershop level. I didn't know it. I was guaranteed my thirty dollars an hour, forty dollar whatever it was an overtime and I'm gonna get two thousand dollars every two weeks after after shit. Now we got Now I got medical bills. We're both self-employed. ⁓ God, taxes. Wow, our taxes crazy. And they're different out west than they are out east. And and and there's there's so much. And there was business partners involved and Solero. And now there's a Tulsa brick and mortar with Solero. There's multiple people. I got people helping me with MP3 now. You have an agent, a manager, percentage comes out of that. And my wife got to a point where she was. She's like the man, she's like the main manager. I think she's got it all together now. And it's like, ⁓ my God. And I've been more chill because, dude, you come home and you're getting praised all week. And then it's just like you're dead exhausted. And then you gotta clean, and then you do house stuff, do the kid stuff, and you I can relate to all the Justin Bieber stuff, all the Jordan, all it at a very small level. But I see like how. I see how good they are to their fans. I see how they're like, get out of my face. I say and I'm not like this. I can still go into anywhere else but a baseball field in an airport and people probably don't know me. It's fine. I don't mind that. But I really don't mind talking to people. And now my family is like, you know what? My family, because my hometown out here got real quiet. Very quiet. We had to pull my kid out of school because of this, my first kid. Jason Corley: Right. Right. Mark: My second kid's, you know, he's doing really good. Say we're he's going, we're gonna we're putting him in a in a private school and and he's he's pumped. We're excited about this, you know, and stuff. And so, but it got real quiet. And my family got really tight. We our kids got older, we're still in our early 40s, our kids are teenagers, they are Jason Corley: Yeah. Mark: They want to be around us, you know. They were we stick up for each other now. It's better now because I'm talking loud in case she can hear me. ⁓ we're she's gonna be like, I didn't hear any of it. I'm like, fuck. What do you think? And she's gonna be like, I don't know, it's not phone. I don't give a shit. I've heard the story nine million times. And and but no, man, it's been really cool and I dude I appreciate them more.
