Jason: and then the message came and it was a lot about getting involved with church and then they talked about like all the you know kids that were at camp and so it wasn't it wasn't a hammered down revival service that I probably needed at I don't know. So like I caught today, like when we were praying, I didn't even close my eyes, which I know a lot of people don't, but like for me, I normally always close my eyes when I Jacob: So do I. And he was explaining to me in pretty pretty authentic detail that he wants to run with this crew until his youngest starts and then he wants to see that group all the way through. Like so I think I think Jacob: From eight Jason: I think he's five right now. So when he gets to eight, he wants to take then that group and stay with it until they graduate. yeah. Jacob: Till they graduate, okay. Jason: So, but yeah, just it was so good to catch up with Cody. Like one of he's might he might arguably be the best youth baseball coach in the country when it comes to that age group. Like yeah, Jacob: For the little guys, yeah. Jason: his ability. I told I had this exact conversation with a parent who was battling. Making a decision between a couple different organizations. And I was just like, listen, man, there's nobody better in the country that I know of that has the ability. And this is not here come the com here come Jacob: Not a knock to anybody else. Jason: Like I would I would sign up tenfold for Cody to, you know, I mean, to to to break the habits, to teach him the right way and to get the you what I mean, to get the most out of that kid because we both know Brooks has the potential. And then you gotta really be careful because you could get your ass kicked in bracket play and be done early. Like, literally, that was the expectations because we all kind of talked about like like in fact our reservations for where we stayed weren't even for the full tournament. Like, luckily, Jacob: Hmm. Jason: had it not rained and everything got moved, we would have had to go and stay with Dom for one night in order to finish the championship game. Like the expectations were not that we were gonna go run. run through everybody. Jacob: Yeah. Jason: also the expectations were that, you know, this group had just recently broken apart. You know what I mean? The team had broken apart. The families had broken apart. There was a lot of Jacob: Animatory. Jason: animosity. Great. I was literally an animosity. And weren't really sure, you know, the communication sucked going up into this whole thing. parents kind of just just nitpicking at each other. Lindsay tried to do some stuff for the boys and Couldn't get anybody to cooperate at all. And you know, Jacob: Of course. Jason: yeah. She was just like, I'm done with this. and so the expectations were that. the expectations were that it was gonna be really expensive and really hard to keep up money-wise at this thing. Okay. and yeah, and that it was gonna be really awkward for the boys. That was the expectations were Is the bunkhouse gonna be divided? You know, are the boys gonna get along? You know, this is gonna be a shit show. So that was the expectations. Okay. did not have high expectations going into this. Just so you know. Jacob: The whole team stayed in the bunks? Jason: he's yeah, whatever. but no, we had a we had one player not stay in the bunks. Comical. Jacob: It is what it is. Jason: Yeah, yeah, it's comical, but one player not stay in the bunks. And but everybody else did. And then we had a coach, one of our coaches in there the whole time. Dominic came and relieved him a couple mornings so that he could check out and go sh like take a real shower. you know what I mean, kind of thing, and then Don would get the guy the boys ready in through breakfast and all this other stuff. So we had that. but the the drive there was was easy. Like I said, we you know, Janet was was with us and we chose to do the campground, okay, because the Airbnbs in the hotels were at the time they were ridiculously expensive. And and also Jacob: Seventeen hundred, eighteen hundred. Jason: there was nothing available, and I'll tell you why. There's only two hotels in that whole area. Two. A little holiday inn and a brand new Hampton Inn in Suites. Like there's no hospitality in this region at all. Like if you're not in an Airbnb, you don't have many options. So we chose to do the campground. And instead of taking our own camper, we chose to do the RV share.com. We've used that before. I've actually rented my own camper. during the spring when we're gone on R V share and and other places through Facebook Marketplace, rented out while we're gone. So we did that. So the guy, the guy had it there, had it set up, ready to go for when we got there. Campground was awesome. Best part of the whole week was the campground. the campground was great. It wasn't packed. plenty of there was there was probably 50 more spots there. And that's another thing we found out. Once we got there, we found out that there was a lot more availability than what was being per portrayed online. so there was a lot more options of places to stay. so that's something to think about if you're an eleven going into twelve. campground was awesome and we were warned we got there at about noon. check-in was at two on the list. Okay. And we were warned that it could be a two, three hour wait to check in. So we got there at about two. We left at four o'clock in the morning, drove straight through, and we got there about noon. And they obviously you couldn't get in. There's one gate. There's one entrance to get in, one gate. And just drove up to the gate and the guy's like, can't come in. I was like, I know, I just I was like, I I know, duh. I'm just turning around, like let me turn around, kind of thing. And Jacob: There you go. Jason: the there's a pizza shop across the street with like a bar pizza place with cornhole and all this stuff. It was packed to the hilt. So we went down the road, parked at a little taco truck off in this gravel pit kind of thing. And that's where we saw the ZT people, the Z T team, and they're like, We just saw you. They saw HUDI immediately. So Jacob: Yeah. Jason: I had Ethan Chung's dad texting me. He's like, Those are our people, kind of thing. And I was like, I know. And so that was that was really cool right off the bat, right off the rip. And then at like 1245, we got word that they were opening the gate. So we jumped in the car. We're only 150 yards from the gate at this point, jumped in the car, drove down, and expecting to them to do like a cedar point kind of thing. You know what mean? And it was not. It was drive in. I will say this. If you're going, I don't know how soon. I think, I think it's like 24 hours or maybe 48 hours before you play your first game. You they unlock the app, the app for your team. And in that app is about four or five forms that have to be filled out. And if you don't have those filled out before you get to the the Jacob: Gay. Jason: gate with the guy in the toll booth, okay, then that is what holds up the lines. Cause Jacob: Mm. Jason: you they won't you're not going through without your shit signed on the app. So we literally we drove in and they put a sticker on the back of our car, we showed them the app, they counted the people in the car, gave us wristbands. Seven minutes, dude. We were through it. And I was like, well, this is this is all right. Now we did hear from people coming in later, like 40 minutes, 45 minutes later, they were in line for a while because people didn't have their shit together. So don't be that guy. Like get your they yes, Jacob: Do they send an email out telling you Jason: they communicate everything. They communicate everything. Every del every every up, they do a very, very good job of communicating. I will give them that. And I will also say that the park in itself is immaculate. Is immaculate. Like you can understand. Okay, so thirty grand a team, roughly twenty five to thirty grand a team. I don't know exactly what it is, but I've been told like Greg Olson said that he dropped thirty grand for his team to go. One of our coaches here said he dropped twenty five grand. He paid for all of their fan. I am noticing that a lot of clubs and organizations pay. So the families can go. Jacob: Mm-hmm. Jason: So then the families are just responsible for their stays. You know what I mean? And their food. But Jacob: Yeah. Jason: I am finding a we heard I heard a lot of coaches talk about, you know, yeah, I just spent 30 grand and 25 grand on this tournament, you know, and 30 grand may have been like for the kids, and then maybe he paid for like maybe he gave everybody a thousand bucks for a hotel or something. I I d I don't know, a per dm or something. You know what I Jacob: Food or expense. Jason: mean? Yeah, I don't know. So maybe that's where the 30 comes in because It is what it is. But anyways, so think about this though. A hundred and four teams at let's just say let's just say twenty-five, let's just cut it in in half. Twenty-five, what is it? Thirty-four teams, twenty-five thousand Jacob: A hundred and fo a hundred and what? Jason: and four teams, twenty-five thousand dollars a team is what? Jacob: Two point six million dollars. Jason: Okay, times ten. 'Cause we were week ten. Jacob: twenty six million. And they're still going on. Jason: Okay, so thirty thirty million dollars a year, thirty million doll a summer, thirty million dollars a summer and they don't have tarps for the fields. Jacob: No, they gotta buy the food for your kids. Jason: They gotta buy the Cheerios with the the the Jacob: Yeah. Jason: dry milk. The dry milk and water. bro, 30 Jacob: Yeah, I didn't go, so don't know. Jason: million dollars. Like the place is nice. The place is nice. All the paths are blacktopped. There are golf carts everywhere to take you. Like, if you want, if you w like, okay, let's get back on track. Let's get back on track. So we check in and and then we take HUD to the bunkhouse. That's where we run into ex wife, ex coach kind of thing, and it's awkward. It's very awkward, you know what I mean? did not say I can tell you this for a fact. him and I did not utter one syllable to each other the entire time we were there. We only we only walked by and did this without saying a word as I was as we were picking up our birth certificates to leave the event. That was it. And I don't We didn't say a word to each other. and there were other people that so we were able to adult ourselves this way and let the kids come in, kind of thing. But that was awkward. but it is what it is. You know what I mean? Jacob: Yeah. Jason: there's just a mutual thing where it's just best if we don't talk. It's just it's it's in his best interest, my best interest. Everybody's around us' interest if we just don't speak to each other. so we didn't, and it worked out fine. It worked out perfectly fine. So we checked we checked the boys into the bunk. the bunkhouses do have air, so just so you know, but something very interesting that everybody should know is is that there are no locks on the bunkhouses. Okay. You cannot lock your your dorm when you leave because of fires, fire code. You can't have the kids trapped inside. Okay. So we had there were there were allegedly some thefts going on. Kids getting phones, electronics, headphones, ear pods, pins being stolen while they were playing late in the evening. I do not know this for a fact, but it came from a pretty reliable source, which was a staff member. So that's what I I also know about. We also have seen pictures and know about, you know, other teams trashing other other bunk houses while kids played. people ask on the comments, Jacob, is this a staff problem? Is this a coach problem? This is a motherfucking parent problem. Jacob: Yeah. Jason: There's a there's a parent issue. You just the kids are a reflection of you. So if your kids are stealing shit and your kids are trash shit, is because you're a piece of shit. That's what it is as a parent. It's you suck as a parent. If your kids Jacob: Yeah. Jason: are doing that, then that's you problem. I don't put that on the coaches because the coaches are just trying to keep you a lot. They're just trying to keep those those kids alive and accounted for every moment of every day Jacob: Yeah. Jason: because they're responsible for them. You know what I mean? staff wise. Yes, I think that the staff could do a way better job probably. If that's going on, there needs to be more eyes on does that make sense? Jacob: Yeah, but it what what I don't understand is if they're playing, then the staff should be able to come and lock the door till the game is over. Jason: I would I here's my thoughts. That's exactly you should be able to lock the door behind you if you're leaving for the day. And then you just and then you just can't lock it at night. Right. Jacob: And that's the only time in in the middle of the night they come check. In the middle of the night people walk around and check if it's locked or not. Jason: Hold on. Yes, I agree. Agree a thousand percent. I agree one thousand percent. You should be able to lock your shit up once you leave. and and not have to not have to worry about that. So they have these big like job boxes out front of each cabin that you're supposed to put all your bat bags in and then they you you know and each kid has a foot locker and these foot lockers that's where your shit's supposed to go. It's where and then you have you bring your own locks so only you have control over your foot locker. So that's what it's supposed to do. But these kids are they're 12 years old. They're not always going to be diligent enough to every time they walk away, put their phone away. You know what I mean? their phone might be the one thing that never goes away because it's their phone and that's Jacob: Yeah. Jason: just what they do. So yeah, that was that was kind of a thing. we got them checked in and then we went to opening ceremonies. that was it was hot, it was long. the fat head things are don't be a don't don't be a parent with a fat head. I will say this and that is that so our let's get back to opening ceremonies. Opening ceremonies they had like groups of moms and groups of dads doing like cheerleading stuff and singing songs. It was really uncomfortable to watch. Jacob: Did you sing? Jason: W yeah, yeah, bro. I sang. I was the one of the ones that volunteered to go down. That was definitely me. yeah, they the the men did Y C A awkward and it was just like, Come on, man. the best part of opening ceremonies was they had a kid come down and do the national anthem with his violin. Like a b a a player. Killed it. It was awesome. So that was cool. And that was the best part of opening ceremonies. And then they went straight into the skills competition and one of the staff members told us, he warned us, he did warn us. He said, Word of advice, halfway through skills competition, leave or you'll never get out of here. And we're like, Okay, whatever. Well, we thought, well, we're gonna win skills competition, so we can't leave because we're gonna win the around the horn, you know, HUD's gonna be in, you know, Roadrunner, you know Gino is probably gonna be or Willie's gonna be in the home run derby, and you'll probably have, you know, Tucker or I don't even know in Golden Arm kind of thing. You know what I mean? We just kind of like that's just kind of like we know who they are. None of them got to do that. So they were yeah, they were they were excluded from those activities. Jacob: Why? Jason: So because because that's that's the petty bullshit. That we that's the petty bullshit of why we leave, why we left. That's the kind of stuff. So Jacob: They didn't even get to do the Arana Horn. Jason: we did. we did. we did. And we failed massively at it. Yeah. So yeah. We got it all over. Jacob: No, but I'm saying HUD and them didn't get to do Jason: Yeah, they did. Yeah, they were in. They were in. They were in. But then it got to a position, and then that position is supposed to go to here. And that instead of it going here, it went almost over the wall. So penalty. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We so we didn't even make it to the finals of that. So it was and at that time I'm just like, okay, this is how this week is gonna go. You know what I mean? Like literally. I was like, because when we did, when we did as we started, well, as we were watching around the horn, which is if anybody that knows what it is, it's catcher, it goes what catcher to first, Jacob: Catch it third. Jason: catcher first back to catch. To second. I don't remember Jacob: Back to to third. Jason: what it is, what it is, but then it includes all the all the positions on the field. And then it ends up at home plate. But I mean, some of these teams, they couldn't even catch them, like they couldn't catch the ball. So we were like, okay, this is not even gonna be fun. You know what I mean? Kind of thing. Like this is gonna be a walk in the park. And then we didn't even make it to the finals because we threw it over a kid's head and it was just a it was just we were just like, yeah, that's that's how this week, that's that's foresight into this week. so Jacob: Peace out, I'm going to the peace out, I'm outta here. Jason: Well, the problem is that here was the problem with that. That was the that was the mentality. Let's get the hell out of here. But at the same time, you're like, okay, do are we really just leav do we just leave our kid? Like, is this what Jacob: Yeah. Jason: we do? So we're everybody was just kind of like, Okay, is this the part where we're supposed to just Jacob: Back and forth. Jason: walk? Like it's old yeller. Is this the part where I just walk away? Like, do I just walk away or is is is is old yeller gonna follow me? You know like to the good. Jacob: Yeah. Jason: So I will say this, and that is is that our group of boys They were absolutely pumped to stay together. So every chance they did stay together, they wanted to be in the bunkhouses. We only had one that didn't want to stay in the bunkhouses. And everybody else, it was the only time they left is when everybody else was gonna leave. And then we had one day where it rained all day long. All the games were pretty much canceled. And I think I think only two boys stayed in the bunkhouses. And one of those was the coach's son, so he had to. and then the other one was another coach. another kid and I'm not sure why he stayed, but I think I'm pretty sure he stayed all day long with just him and another guy, another kid. So but as soon as they would if we were out, you know, if we had checked them out for the day, they were all communicating on what time they were going back because they all wanted to come back at the same time. Does Jacob: Yeah. Jason: that make sense? So so yeah so we left Jacob: So there was no so there was no bad feeling between the boys. Jason: No, there's a couple that I mean in my opinion, I could be wrong. I really honestly, like I'm just re trying to read the room. I there's a couple of them that are acted a little like I don't know, acted a little bit, I guess you could say like they played great together, but at the same time, there were there were definitely a couple couple moments where I noticed like some A couple of them, I mean, I don't even know how to say this. They just weren't they just they just didn't want to be around the other guys. They didn't want to be around their Jacob: Little asshole ish. Jason: Yeah, a little asshole ish. There you go. Yeah, little asshole-ish. So, and it's fine because it didn't it didn't bleed into the games because my God, they Jacob: Ma'am. Yeah, obviously. Jason: just you know what I mean? It it just didn't it didn't bleed into there. And I I never got any reports that there were any there was no issues at night, there was no issues of hazing or any of that shit. we did have one issue. where you know I Jacob: Yeah. Jason: think I we had one little issue, but that was blown out of proportion. but other than that I never and I asked. I mean I was I was on HUD. I was just like, you know, you need to you need to be a conduit here and let me know. You know what I mean? Because we'll squash this, you know, this in in the bud. And you know, if it gets if it gets to a point where it's this is dumb, then like I will we're out. Like this is Jacob: We're out. Yeah. Jason: not worth it to us. So Everything was fine there. the boys ended up playing Coach Adam DoorDash spike ball, which was apparently the greatest thing that could have ever happened. They had their own tournament going on because they couldn't even play wiffle ball because there was five thousand kids playing wiffle ball. So it was one of them th you know what I mean? So they Jacob: Yeah, you had to find an alternative. Jason: they did and ideally you know Adam and his DoorDash. you know, Adam Doordash spike ball and that saved, I guess I think that saved the week, honestly. So that was cool. we so yeah so then we came back for we had a game that night and we play or that afternoon we played at three thirty, I think. And I will say this. So I said earlier in the podcast the other yesterday, I don't remember what day it was, where I said Jacob: Right. Jason: if we were to ever be taken over by a communist organization, it would be ran by, you know, Cooperstown, Jacob: Bruce. Jason: Dream Park. bro, this is like this is no joke. This is this is a prison over here. And I'm talking lock and key. Like, there is one entrance in and out of this park. Okay. One. Jacob: Burr Liner. Jason: It is burliner on steroids. Okay. And we know this for a fact because we had a parent say, screw this, I'm not waiting this line, and try to go across the street to the pizza shop. For two hours, denied, denied, not allowed. Like and under no circumstances. And they do a great job of like their staff is very oriental. So oriental people, they use their language barrier as mean me no care. Me no care. Turn around. Turn around. No, no, no, no, no, no. I swear to God. They were everywhere. They were everywhere. It's like it's like it's like they knew exactly who to hire that couldn't be like talked into. So I will say this though, as I was standing in line as I was trying to leave after we tried to leave after opening ceremonies before the 3 30 game, just to go back and not sit there at the park and do nothing. because that's something else. There's very there's very, very minimal seating in Dreams Park. Like either take your chair or don't. Okay. Very minimal seating. so it's like there's it's not like it's not like a city park where there's just benches scattered all over the place and you could just go, you know, pop a squatter underneath the shade tree. That's not happening. so we wanted to leave and I picked the wrong picked the wrong parking lot and it took me over an hour to go 50 yards, something like that. And there's no there's no outs. Like there's no outs. And I'm just sitting here thinking to myself, What if somebody had a heart attack? Like, how does anybody get the hell out of here? Because I when I say you're in, bro, you're in by like privacy fences all around the entire place. So you can't even see the road. And I was just thinking to myself, man, if something happened, I'm going through that fence. Like I am, I am, I am bumpered through the fence. Like balls to the wall here. Like I don't know what they would do. I have no idea what they I have no idea how they would do it. So it's very, very difficult to negotiate any kind of surrender there. Like you just have to you just have to deal with what they give you. Let me think here. What else about the if you're going, okay? If you are going, you want to try to focus on parking lots A. Okay. So as you come into the lot, you want to go immediately to your right on that hill and then the lower section. There's there's plenty of parking but nobody kind of thinks about that. And I say this because you're closest to the first couple fields, but it seems like the transportation buggies are there nonstop. So you can get a ride really easy. And Jacob: Mm. Jason: if you're playing on fields 11, 12, 13, or 14, bro, you're gonna get your steps in. That is in the back 40. And when I say the back 40, I'm talking the back 40. So they give you games up close and then they get like they want you to have the full experience. They want you to really hate them, is what they want that like. Jacob: really want the full experience. Just give me all my games up for a Jason: I that's what I said. That's what I said. Like if they want you so they give you a f they give you a game on field seven, which is right by the like where I'm up on the hill, you know what I mean, watching the games. And then they give you a a game on field fourteen, which is the farthest one away. And Jacob: Mm-hmm. Jason: bro, I picked that one day to wear the cowboy boots. I was like Jacob: Mm. Jason: yeah, yeah. Because it was raining and nasty and I Jacob: Every step you took, you cussed yourself out. Jason: dude, I was just like, Don't blister, don't blister, don't blister, don't blister. Jacob: Was it like when we were in Houston and went, let's go one block the start bucks? Jason: That's exactly what it was. That is exactly what it was that day in Houston when we went looking for a Starbucks. And I when we looked to see how far it was, I didn't realize I was on car and not walk. And it said like two minute, whatever it was, and I could have sworn it was on walk. It was 30 minute walk, whatever it was. And Jacob: Four blocks. Jason: we were we were in desperate need of of some of some juju juice that morning to get us Jacob: Yeah. Jason: to get us back straight. after the night before. And Jacob: Yeah. Jason: bro, that was brutal. That was brutal. I don't Jacob: That's when you had your cowboy boots on. Jason: and I had no socks. I don't think I I think I was barefoot in my cowboy boots. And I was Jacob: Yeah. Jason: just I was just a bloody mess by the time I got back to the hotel. But anyways, another tidbit so yeah so then the boys, you know obviously they provide food for the boys and we got the boys all tucked in and all that other stuff and then we we left and came back for the game and the game was what it was. yeah it People have made comments about the fact that, like, well, you guys went at the end of the summer when all the good teams were done. What the fuck is that? Like, you don't get to choose when you go. You get two dates to choose from, Jacob: Mm-hmm. Jason: from my understanding. You get two weeks to choose from. Like, I like it's not like we it's not like we saw the roster and we were like, yeah, let's go that week. Like we Jacob: Yeah. Jason: went when we could go because of PGI and some other things. so I don't understand unless I'm wrong, am I wrong? Jacob: No, I I mean from every understanding that I've had you only get two dates. You pick two weeks you can go and you're gonna get either or. Jason: And I think one of them's early and one of them's late. Like and then Jacob: Mm-hmm. Jason: they kinda so yeah, you yeah, you can you can kick rocks with that with that statement because that's not true. We we went when we were able to go and Jacob: Accepted. Jason: we paid our money just like everybody else, and yeah, we showed up. Now I will say that it was ironic that we were there the same week that the South Florida Chiefs were there. So they were on Jacob: Yeah. Jason: our minds all week long and we were hoping for them. But it didn't matter when we got to them because that was so the competition, as far as the level of competition, and here's what I'll say. Okay. I will say this, and this goes to what we said the other day. it is a great, great event, bro. It is a fantastic experience for anybody that has not played in anything of meaning. Okay. Cause here's a couple of my caveats, okay? Somebody brought this up too. When you go and play at An NIT or a super regional PG or Beast of the East. And there's a purpose of winning that because then you get a bid to the national championship. Okay. Jacob: Mm-hmm. Jason: When you play at a PG event and you win it, even if you are a finalist, I will give them all the credit in the world. They spoil the shit out of these kids with swag for winning this stuff. Jacob: Yeah. Jason: I mean, WWE belts, rings, trophies, you know what I mean? Lots and lots Jacob: T shirts. Jason: of shit to go home and put on that shelf or save for graduation day. You know what I mean? All that kind of stuff. Do you want to know what they these boys got for winning Cooperstown week 10? Jacob: No, I didn't see nothing. Jason: Nothing. They got one, they got one trophy that was just as tall as Scott. You're having a hard time not. Jacob: I tried, I tried. Jason: They got one that there was they were provided one trophy, one big trophy that none of them got. It gets to go back with Scott and he gets to brag about that group of boys because it'll be in that you know exactly where that's gonna be put in that in that building. I think it's all bull for the amount of money that you pay for that tournament, they got they get to keep their their nasty cotton uniforms, tops, their hats, and then they all got like a mini class ring kind of thing. Like for the year. That's it. That's that's all they got. I have no idea what All Star Village gets, but that's all they got. They they got some pictures. That don't let me forget this. Jacob: Media. So when that material hits that wet dirt it's like say it's like 80 grit sandpaper it just stops Jacob: Yeah. Jason: these kids were face piling into the bag before they ever got there but if you slid on your ass the pants are polyester because you provided your own pants so your pants then Jacob: Yeah. Jason: yes but if you went head first like most of these boys are used to doing on the turf and other places or in their other jerseys you know the the the PG dry fit stuff Jacob: The drive everything, yeah. Jason: bro they would slide here with this it was the it was the funniest it was the funniest and in and hardest thing to watch because some of these kids were just absolutely coming out like just faces full of mud from from just just head planting into it. So yeah the photo package stay away from it. Parents stay away from it. You can take any photo you can take any camera gear you want to take. So the cages, they did have about 30 cages out in the middle of the field. So they did, you know, they had batting cages for the kids to warm up. But getting back to the photo and video thing, the video thing, they don't provide clips or any of that, they just provide the full length video Jacob: Game. Jason: from a fish eye from behind, so it's not fantastic. So I'm just encouraging you, if you still have a week to go or if you're going next year, take your game changer, take your stream. It's not gonna be from behind home plate, but you can literally do it from like right or left field from a from a different angle, but still grandma and grandpa back home can watch and you they can keep score. Cause that's the other thing. On their video stream, there's no score. There's no there might be there might be score. There might I think the score is on the app. I don't know if it I don't remember. I don't remember. But here's what it was. It was it you hadn't they had no idea who was up. Like there's no lineup. Like I really would. And they're not good at getting it out quick enough. Like they haven't even gotten the rest of our stuff out and they're already starting, they're better off. I'm trying to think here what else. they never once complained about baseballs, which was cool. So every time a ball went over the fence, it went to a parent and nobody asked anything about it. So that was really cool. you could turn them in for pins. So, like if Brooks got five foul balls or five home run balls. And turn him in, he would get a pin from a staff member. so they do stuff like that. I was told that the Jacob: Little incentives. Jason: Yeah, for foul balls mostly, the home run balls, not so much. the boys all try to like track down the parent of the home run ball. we hit 75, I believe, home runs. I think that's what the number was. Jacob: I saw that. Who led the team? Jason: Andrew Angelisi with 12. So Jacob: okay. Jason: he was but bro, he was that kid was born for that format. You know what I mean? Like that kid's that kid, that's his wheelhouse. Like that format. I'm not just saying like that format. Jacob: Yeah. Jason: he can just rake. You know what I mean? So that was not surprising at all. Cause I think it was like what maybe two or three weeks before that. He had just won the home run derby in in Pittsburgh, whatever it was. Jacob: The home run derby, yep. Yep. Jason: so yeah. I'm trying to think here what else. getting back to the umpires were great. no real issues with the umpires, no real issues at all with coaches. We didn't have we didn't get we didn't have hardly any hate at all. even though we had a lot of we had a lot of people lost and a lot of let me start over. We had a lot of people asking a lot of questions as to who the hell are we? How do we practice? Like how often are we you know tip you don't you know what I'm talking about. Jacob: Yeah, yeah, I get it. Jason: a lot of that up on the hill as I'm watching games and trying to do game changer. but we didn't get a lot of hate. but I also think too, our boys didn't carry themselves as assholes and cocky. Like they weren't if you bat flip, you get suspended for two games. I'm trying to think what else. if you're late to the barracks, you get suspended for two games. There was a lot, I mean, there's just there's a lot of rules. There's a lot there's just Jacob: So little a lot of structure. Jason: A very it was very structured. It was very communist. Yes, it was very structured. It's very structured. you weren't you the and I was I was curious as to like what is the deal with like you can't just sign your kid out. Like a parent can't just walk up and sign their kid out, even though it's your flesh and blood. A coach has to accompany a child to the gate. Jacob: I wonder if that has to do with custody issues. And it had to do with a couple years ago. a dad was not supposed to hit there was a restraining order against a dad, and he was trying to check his son out, and somebody caught it just in time. And so they were like, that's never gonna happen again on our watch. So I I do Jacob: Very smart. Jason: I do respect that. And I think that's also why there's one gate in and one gate out, because without that paperwork, you are not leaving. You know what Jacob: Yeah. Jason: I mean? So, so yeah. So and they do check the vehicle for children. Like windows down, they look in. Is there a kid? You know, obviously if you know, if you wanted to hide a Labrador retriever in the trunk, you probably could get away with that, but you might hear it too. So a little there is there I'm I don't want to say how, but there are ways to sneak kids in food, just so you know. So there's a lot of that going on. very you can get very creative with how you get McDonald's to your child to take back to the bunkhouse because dinner sucks. Okay. yes, you can also make sure that your kid has like a like HUD has a green light card or Apple Cash. And as long as there is a game going on, which there's a game going on pretty much all night long, a Jacob: Ha ha ha. Jason: snack shap, snack shack is open. So chicken fingers, pizza. So that now they have to buy that stuff on their own, but we had no problem making sure HUD had money because he was just like dad, he's like, I can't eat this stuff. And the I I think the worst was breakfast from my understanding. Like it was the, you know, it was the water eggs and it was the it was like the not quite like all cooked sausage, you know, links that weren't, you know, the kind of the you Jacob: Yeah. Jason: know what I mean? and so that was an issue. Pooping. Jacob: But r Jason: Take it. Jacob: I read that in the in a post on Facebook too that breakfast is probably the worst meal. That most parents had to bring Jason: Yeah, breakfast was my fault. Jacob: their boys in breakfast. Jason: Yeah, but if your kid doesn't play till three o'clock, they gotta eat s like you gotta get you know what mean? That's Jacob: Yeah. Jason: the struggle. So here's the other th I here's one thing that I will tell you. There's no limit on snacks. So when you check them in, I mean you can literally drop off three rows of Costco if you wanted to. And Jacob: Mm. Okay. Jason: s like dry goods, you know what I mean? In the bunkhouse. So we did that. There were they had they had way more food and way more snacks than they ate because we donated We donated a shit ton of stuff when we left because nobody wanted to haul it back home. So they can have all of that stuff. They have their foot locker, so they can have, you know, uncrustables and stuff like that. But as far as like hot food, there's no way for them to keep it. So you'd Jacob: Yeah. Jason: have to, you know, like the McDonald's or you know, if you wanted to get him a pizza, stuff like that. Jacob: Pete Yeah. Jason: Now I will say this. You can check your kid out at any moment, at any time, as long as the coach is around to walk him to the gate. So You can check your kid out after every game. And you can go eat lunch, you could go eat dinner as long as they're back by 10 30, or you can keep them out all night long. They don't have to like HUD stayed out one night and slept in the camper with us just to be with his brother, take a real shower, go to the bathroom. That's a struggle that parents, you guys are gonna have to understand. at this age, these boys are there's no privacy in these in these w wash houses, and the bathrooms are disgusting. So the boys, if they If they do have to go to the bathroom, it's think of like think of like a 1980s gymnasium bathroom of like the brown, really thin Jacob: Mm-hmm. Jason: doors with the very small lat like these kids can crawl under and and fuck with kids Jacob: Mm. Jason: while they're trying to take a poop. And so the kids can't. Like they're their their minds won't let them be vulnerable with does that make sense? So Jacob: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jason: definitely get your kid out, check them out so they can get to a real bathroom. Like take them to a restaurant or take somewhere and take back to wherever you're at and just let them, you know, because they're Jacob: Release those bowels. Jason: Yeah, because they're just if if not, they're gonna be miserable and then, you know, they can get sick and stuff like that. So that was a huge, huge hurdle was showering, which we've all heard, showering and going to the bathroom. So a lot of shower, lot of shower shenanigans going on. soap fights, other things with nothing malicious, but just like Kids aren't really washing because they're all showering in their swim trunks, you know what I mean? Because they're at this age where nobody wants to reveal what they're working with. So I mean it's the best way to put it, right? Like yeah, like Jacob: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Jason: they don't want to show their cards. So I'm trying to think here of of the other some of the other the yeah, the competition. Let's get back to the competition. Jacob: So I read something that said this is more for Jason: Mm-mm. Jacob: the kids that get the experience are the ones that play in a like mm double A to triple A. Jason: Little league. Little league. Wreck. This is for Jacob: Yeah, yeah. Jason: rec ball kids. Yes. This is for kids. This is this is for kids that literally have not done a destination tournament since AU. Does that make sense? Like they haven't Jacob: Okay. Mm-hmm. Jason: done Space Coast. They haven't done the World Series. They haven't done Jacob: The Houston Jason: they haven't done the Under Armour thing in Grand Park. They haven't done anything like that. Because if you've done anything like that, you cannot You cannot view this as competitive baseball. Does that make sense? Jacob: Yeah. Jason: So for me, this is like the one destination tournament. And and here's how you know that this was a really big deal to them. Because all they could talk, all the kids could talk about when they were watching our games was do you play PG? Cause I mean, I was recording and I was using my phone, so I know it picked it up. And I was just having a conversation with a kid and his dad was his dad was dumbfounded of like, you guys don't practice? I'm like, sir, we have not practiced one time this year. This is our last event. We haven't had a single practice yet. He was like, What? Like we have not had a single practice as a team one time Jacob: Mm-hmm. Jason: this year. He was dumbfounded. Dumbfounded. And I was like, that is the truth. I know it's hard to believe, but our team has not practiced together at all. So, since we started the season in Florida. well, since we ended the season last year, Jacob: Yeah. Jason: we went through all fall and all winter without practicing together. So, and then started the season. but I was talking to this kid, and I was just like, So, what's been the best part about this? And he's like, I was the one run scored against you. And I was like, yes. Yes, he's like, I scored a run against you guys. And I was like, good for you, dude. Like Jacob: Yeah. Jason: yeah, he's Yeah. Jason: We never once played six innings and I wanna say nine, maybe nine of the ten games, we ended up having to hit left-handed to finish the game out just to get d just to get done with it. Jacob: I would watch and then it would be bottom of the first. You guys were up. I'd watch HUD scored. I I watched HUD score. So this game's over. Let me shut this off. I'd get back on fifteen minutes later. You guys are up twenty two one, twenty two nothing. And I was like, I Jason: Yep. Yep. I want to know what that is, because I think it's extremely high. And the games that he doesn't and he strikes out or gets out the very first at bat of the of the game, how many of those we lose? Because I think that, I'm telling you, it is. It's really, really close. And I don't know if somebody out there is really smart that could figure that stat out. But I think that would be an extremely impressive stat that had had had some people with the SF logo maybe known that might have propelled him from where he was to, you know, a game next weekend. it just I think it goes on I think it goes unsung. Jason: we got to the semifinals and he threw and we touched them up. and then it was showtime with a rematch of the South Florida Chiefs. And you know, yeah, I was given a video. And then the we got through, we were the home team. We were the home team throughout the entire bracket play because we were the number one seed. And bro, when I I'll tell you this, when you look at that bracket, that's a massive bracket. Jacob: Yeah. Jason: And you're like, holy crap, but we got what was called a super buy, so we didn't have to play for one whole day. Like Jacob: Yeah. Jason: we got to just check our boys out and go do whatever we wanted to do, which was fantastic. But the scare is that you kind of get tripped up early on in bracket play. That did not happen. And then we got the Chiefs in the we got the Chiefs in the championship game. It started at 1230 in the morning. I think it was. It ended at 2 30 in the morning. And I don't think the Chiefs left the nine new season, is what I think. So like I think they were still stuck at nine new because it was not pretty at all. And they had a really, really loud crowd. And we took them out pretty quick. And then you could see the crowd kind of turn and want our boys to keep hitting home runs. So Jacob: Yeah. Jason: we did have a crew. We did have a crew of boys. I don't know where they were from. I think they were from I want to say they were from New Jersey. I'm almost positive they were from New Jersey because I was going to I was going to I was going to try to connect them with Morgan with PG New Jersey, you Jacob: Yeah. Jason: know what I mean? And get like you guys have gotta I I'm almost positive. I'm almost positive. I try to get them connected. But anyways, they've they just they f they loved watching us play. They were just they just loved it. So they were this own they were like this own little kid section in the corner that every time with you know they were just cheering us on. So it was it was a beautiful thing to watch. the fireworks show was good. And then there was the crowd was not great because it was 12 30 at night and it was misting and rainy and cold. So we didn't have the kind of crowd that we probably would have had it had it been the normal time it was supposed to be. so it was just kind of finny. Seven o'clock. Jacob: What time was it what was the normal time it was supposed to be? Twenty o'clock. okay. Jason: Yeah, or four or seven, something like that. yeah, maybe I think it was seven o'clock is the time that it was supposed to be, and it didn't we didn't start till twelve thirty. And finished it two. And by the time we left, there was 30 people watching the game, which was kind of sad. Yeah, kinda sad. So because you expect there to be the grandstands full and everybody Jacob: Yeah. Jason: stay to watch the championship game. And there was just, yeah, it was none of it. So when I say it was completely overrated, like they could have, you know, in my opinion, like yeah, I guess in my in my opinion, it just could have been, I think, I think. In order to in order to not have the boys play a championship game at one o'clock in the morning, they could have done some things creatively with the bracket. They could have done some other things creatively, like maybe just push it till the morning. You know what I Jacob: Yeah. Jason: mean? Because checkout wasn't they could have pushed checkout back. like you could you can still have people clean because everybody else could have technically checked out and still stayed to watch the game. Right. Right. Jacob: Except you guys. The two championship teams, yep. Jason: Or you could have let us check out. That night before. You could have let us all check out Jacob: Mm-hmm. And just bring the boys in to play the game. Jason: Exactly right. Exactly right. You could have let us all check the kids out the night b that night and then come back and play an eight AM championship game or a nine a.m. championship game that would lasted fifty minutes because we run ruled them. Jason: could have had everybody, you could have had a lot more people there and it was daylight, it wouldn't have been, you know, dark and all the other shit.
