C: Welcome back to our fourth special episode, where we discuss some questions after we finished one of our books. We have officially finished A Court of Wings and Ruin, the third book in the Aquatar or A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Mass. We'll be answering some fun questions inspired by the book, sharing our favorite moments, debating impossible what-if scenarios, talking about the characters we love. those who test our patience and probably revealing a few unpopular opinions along the way. So if you've ever wondered which court we'd choose, who we'd trust in battle, or what we'd do if the cauldron handed us unlimited power, grab a snack, settle in, and join us for a fun trip back to Prithian. Let's jump in one more time. We're gonna start out with our usual first question. Flip to a random page in the book and tell us your favorite line on that page. Last time I feel like I went towards the beginning, middle of the end, so this time I'm going in. this is when she comes back from looking in the orb Boros mare and So my favorite line is going to be from the carver. where she goes to see the carver. And he says it is a rare person to face who they truly are and not run from it, not be broken by it. Because that is what the Ouroboros shows you every despicable and unholy inch of yourself. I like that one. M: Good. K: That was a good page to flip too. Better than M: It was a really good page to look to. K: mine. C: What'd you get, Kay? K: so it looks like this is where Farah, slips into Lucian's mind when he's talking to Elaine. C: Are there any good quotes on that page? K: No, not really. Hm. best thing I can see here is when Elaine asks Lucian, I can hear your heart beating through the stone. Can you hear mine? Probably the best part between these two pages. C: And the fuel for the is Lucian the Lucian theory or is Lucian Tamlin? All thanks to M: It is true. C: that one lie. All right, what do you got? M: So there's not really many spoken lines on the page I got to, because I got the page where they're all getting ready to go to the High Lords meeting. But if I had to pick my favorite line on that page, it would be just after the description of her gown where she says, If Resand was night triumphant, I was the star that only glowed thanks to his darkness, the light only visible C: Mm-hmm. M: because of him. Now if I had to pick K: That's a good one. M: a spoken quote. It'd be Cassian saying she looks official and fancy. But that's technically the next page, so you know. Yep. C: Doesn't count. First line counts. Was there an unlikable character who won you over in the end? I don't know that I actually ever disliked Jurian, but I feel like we like him a little bit more by the end of the book. I mean obviously everyone says Tamlin because yes, he does have a little bit of redemption arc, so woo for Tamlin. my gosh, he did something in the battle. Great. But I'm gonna get I'm gonna stick with Jurion, that's gonna be my answer. Because woo for Tamlin. M: I mean There. I would say I'm gonna go back to what we were saying at the end of last episode. Elaine. I had much more appreciation for Elaine by the end of this one than I did my initial reread or even at the end of last book. This book she really started to show something more than just the meh, she's there that I had toward her before. So not necessarily dislike, but she was more insignificant before. Even with everything she did. So now K: Mm-hmm. M: it K: Mine's heiress. Obviously he hasn't really I mean I he kinda has done some stuff to redeem himself with how he's kind of acted now. But I feel like there's more underlying there, so I don't think that he's as bad as he's making it out to be. And I really I really hope he's in the next book. C: Awesome. Okay. Would you buy this book or series for a friend or family member? W just literally told us K: Mm-hmm. C: earlier today that she gave it to a friend or family member recently. So I'm gonna go with yes for M: Yep. The first three. K: Yep, and I just bought it for my sister, so yes. C: I have bought Crescent City for my sister, so clearly all of us are yes. Do you think this book is a seasonal read? If so, what season suits it? No. Because I feel like when I do my reread it doesn't have to be a specific season when I'm in the mood for it. It's just when I'm in the mood for it. K: At any time read. C: Right? I don't feel like M: Agreed. C: it's fits. I K: And C: mean, it literally has all of the seasons in the book, so it's hard to say, the we're gonna read this at spring, because bull crap, we're not gonna read it in spring because we don't give a crap about Tam Tam. K: We don't like spring anymore. C: Yeah. Boo spring. Thank you, Tamlin, for that. So Maybe K: Pick it up anytime. C: Yeah. Well that's what we're gonna say. Just pick it up anytime. Every time. You know, either. M: When you have a chance. C: Yeah. Should M: Just read it, okay? K: Was gonna say. C: yes. M: Ha. C: my gosh. Okay. Should the book be more or less popular than it is today? I think this is an interesting question. So I think this is my personal opinion, so throwing that out there first. I think, in my opinion, Sarah J. Mass is like the female queen of female fantasy. Like no one else did what she has done at this point. And I say at this point, I mean, you know, in the last ten years when she started coming out with this book. Yes, we had some female authors writing female fantasy that were doing well, but none that actually got to the popularity level of this series. So I think like I don't know that we can say if the series came out now, if it started coming out now, that it would have the same effect that it has had, because it was like the c in my mind, it is the catalyst for all of these other fantasy books that have come out and become popular. since her books came out. K: Lots of copycats. Mm-hmm. C: Yes. And not even that, but just people who have written books and they're more popular. I feel like because Sarah kind of reopened the fantasy world, at least for women, with this series Increscent City and Throne of Glass. So I'm gonna say no, I don't think they should be less popular. I think their popularity is about the level it should be, because of in my opinion, what she did. Because we wouldn't have, you know, Fourth Wing, arguably the next most popular fantasy series for women out right now. I don't think that would have been as popular if we didn't have Akatar first. So nope, I think it's as popular as it needs to be. K: So are we talking about the whole series or just the book? C: Either. K: This one's actually my least favorite out of the entire series. It C: Really? K: kinda bores it bores me a little bit in a few spots. Like, yeah, I can't I know what this is gonna be you're gonna be like I cannot stand Miriam and Draken. C: Why? K: I don't know. I just I I really don't know. I just can't stand their characters. At all. C: I just have you ever seen the the cartoon, the animated Prince of Egypt movie about Moses? K: Okay. C: Yeah, his sister Miriam, that's who I picture. And she's just adorable. That's why I picture as Miriam. And then like this giant hulking man who's super attractive for Draken. So I have no problem listening to that. How dare you? K: think it's gonna become more popular though when the new when the new ones come out. I think more people are gonna flock to it. C: Interesting. Okay. K: Yeah. 'Cause how when was the last one? When was Nessa's book released? C: Two thousand eighteen. K: yeah. I think it's yeah, I think it's gonna get bigger than it is now. Especially with book talk. C: True. If everybody loves it. K: True. M: I think. C: Because I know K: Yeah. C: I know a lot of people who didn't read Crescent City and haven't read Nezda's book and they've only done the original trilogy for Akatar and the original Throne of Glass Seven plus the novellas. So K: Well, they need to get with the program because They're all good. C: You haven't even finished them all yet. You can't say that yet. K: They're g that they're gonna be good. I don't care. That's what you said about Crescent City and it's my favorite book out of all of them. So C: I know. All right what do you think? M: The C: More popular, less popular? M: I think it's got a decent amount of popularity at this point for a while there before I read through them the first time. And honestly, even until my throne of glass reread, I kind of thought they were overhyped to a point. But if I were answering this question now, I'm saying, I think that Akatar has gotten its comeuppance and gotten its recognition. I wish throne of glass was more popular. because I don't see people flocking to the love of that as much. And I feel like had it been as saturated in the market as the other two series are, I probably would have gone with that one first. And I almost wish I had had read that first. But I don't know. I feel, see, I'm going more on a personal level. I wish Throne of Glass had been more popular at the time I started reading them. So I could have started that way. But because of how popular everything was, I happened to just pick up Crescent City knowing, I've heard good things about the author and it says all new series. didn't say there was any sort of potential universe connection. So I picked up Crescent City, loved it, and then had to backtrack. So the experience was so different. That's C: Rained. M: where I wish. I think they've all gotten great recognition. just thrown a glass at that. How many books did I ball in? Like straight up ugly cry, curl up in a ball and C: All of them. M: not want to read for a day. Like how many of them did I read in a day? So that's, that's what I think. I think her universe in general is very popular. I wish thrown a glass, had more eyes on it. C: I can agree. I can agree. I think because it's not as spicy of a romance, it's leaned a little more towards the fantasy with a hint of romance in it that it's not as popular as the other two that have M: nuts C: spice. That's why. Okay. If you were going I feel like we've already answered this question to an extent. If you were going to write the sequel, what would the plot be? Because we talked about at the end of our last episode what we think the next books are gonna be about or what we would want to see in the next in a book somewhere in the future. So for me, Miriam and Draken's story, more on Elaine, more on Eris, and more on Bassa. And I think you guys agree M: For me, I'd say... C: with the second half of those. K: Mm-hmm. Yep. Eris, Elaine. M: Yeah, I was going to say second half of Lane and Vasa for me for sure. Those are my expenses. K: Who else? Azrael. Really want Azreel. C: I gonna say Kay wants to see Azrael. K: Yes. M: Yes. K: Yes. C: if he's included in one, great. K: Did you say meh? C: Maybe. K: No C: I don't not like him. I just like Resan is my K: Listen, I feel like that I could like Azreel more than Reese. And I know that's gonna C: We go fight. M: I mean, and see, I love the goofy, bumbly, sweetheart comedian. So I have a thing for Cassian anyway, K: Mm-hmm. M: which makes sense if you think about why I love Summer Flame so much, because you just get so much Cassian. C: Yes, exactly. So M's gonna K: I think C: love Cassian, I'm gonna stick with Reese and Kay's gonna love Azriel. If she doesn't K: Mm. M: But that means we're not fighting over them. So, you know, it works out well. C: already. Good point! Good point. K: Yeah. C: We just gotta knock out the Archeron sisters and we're good to go. K: how funny. M: Meh, that'll be easy. C: Okay, what celebrity would you pick to narrate the audiobook? So I definitely wouldn't M: I thought about C: want someone, one person, obviously, to narrate the entire thing. I like K: Right. C: the dramatized version. I don't I feel like what's his face? Anthony Palmini does a really good job in other books. I don't think he lived up to my re-san voice for K: Mm. C: this dramatized version. So I would have to say I'd want No. I just K: Yeah, I couldn't. C: I mean I love I'm a huge Sean Connery fan, so like if he was still alive and he wanted to narrate Rowan, because Rowan's supposed to have like a Scottish Iris accent, I would be all for that. But resand I don't know that I could K: huh. C: pick anybody. K: that's the problem with narrating too, because so many people can pull off so many different voices. So you don't really know. I can't think of a celebrity that I would like to do that. And even with Melody Muse, she was the one that narrated the dramatized for Fayra. I I feel like she was sounded a little too childish. C: I agree. K: but I have no idea who I would pick to replace. Elizabeth Evans, you know, she's the one that did all of the other ones and then she redid for the tenth anniversary for Akatar. And she does okay she's she does okay. But I would definitely want I already I already have her associated with A Len though. So it's hard to pull her. Yeah. C: Right? It's hard when they don't switch. K: And her email voices aren't terrible, but I would definitely want it to be have a male in female if she were gonna do a the female. M: I think if it were female, I would go with Anne Hathaway. That was something I was thinking on the other day with this one. And I don't know if maybe it's because of her in Ella Enchanted, because you get that she can speak with that rogue and that calm, that flow that I feel like I didn't, because I like the dramatized versions. I really got into them, you know me, I prefer to read the book. it's always going to win out for me. And even if I have it on the background, I'm still reading. But I was thinking I could picture her as Feyre. But the male counterpart, I can't think of anyone that would. Like, oddly enough, I went older for a second. I was like a Mark Harmon, like a Tom Selleck. And I was like, that's the voice I would want, but not the profile. You know what I mean? Like, just, I don't think it would have the nightmare. scenes where his voice gets more serious, I don't think either one C: Right. M: of them could hold that. So I don't know if I could recast it because I wouldn't have a male that could match up. K: Definitely not Teddy Hamilton. Definitely not. M: I feel like y'all are taking some shots now. K: Sorry. C: Right? M: you don't like Ezreal? Watch what I can say. K: Well I already said this like a few weeks ago when I was reading Hunting Adeline. I just I don't know. M: my mind went to more of the Tom Selleck, Mark Harmon, like the sexier Silver Fox-esque, not. K: Yeah, I need something more gravelly and C: I would be okay with Henry Cavill. M: But exactly. C: Because I love him and the Witcher. M: Okay. K: Yeah. M: Okay. C: I feel like he can be the only but if I had to choose, I don't know that I would be able to say I want him to be Reese and not Rowan or Rowan and not Reese. 'Cause I feel like he could do either. But he would be the only male actor I could think of. And I don't know who narrates Nezda in the n the dramatized versions, but I love her K: Yeah. C: voice. I think she does a great job. And I think I think it's Azreel's whoever narrates Azreel, I like K: Mm-hmm. C: a lot more than Cassian's narrator. But I will say, and I think I said it when we started book one, That the narrator for Lucian is also the narrator for the dramatized version of Fourth Wing and the main male character. It's a little more growly for that one, but I do enjoy his voice. So I feel like I liked Lucian just a little bit more listening to the dramatized versions, thanks to his voice. K: I actually really like Jurian's voice too. C: I don't remember I'll have to go back and pay attention to his too. Okay, next difficult question. Did you like the length of the book? Would you have made it shorter or longer? K: have much to add to this one. I like it was it is it was what it was. I don't I guess you could argue that they could have elabor or she could have elaborated more on certain stories, you know, like we were w during the podcast we were talking about how they went over they shared their stories during the meeting, but we don't know what that was, you know. C: Yes. K: So that would probably be maybe to lengthen it for that, but I can't think of anything else that needed to be added. C: I think I would have liked a little bit more the High Lords meeting. Because I enjoyed the amount that we received, but I also Tamlin was super annoying through that. So I would have liked to see more I guess maybe I would just like to have seen more interaction between the Night Gourd and the other High Lords. Maybe not Tamlin, but like Calius and Vivian and Helian. We just get a little bit with Helian, but I would have loved to K: Yeah. C: see more interaction with him because I thought their interaction with him was really fun. So I'd like to see more with him. So I hope that we get that, especially if we're gonna get more Lucian info and we probably have that tie between the two of them. but yeah, I just I think I would have wanted more interaction between the other High Lords in our inner circle. Cause I would have liked to see a little bit more of Theseon's personality. Or is he just like the dad of the group? K: Mm-hmm. C: Because that's kind of the vibe I got from him. Because he wasn't joking around like Calius and Helian were with Resand. He was kind of watching over everybody. but Baron and Tamlin are both being jerks. Everybody else is joking. Tarquin is quiet, but once he gets over the blood rubies and them stealing the book, like I feel like he's gonna be joking around with them too. So I just feel like Theseon is the only one whose personality we really didn't get. much of so. M: I see, and I'd prefer more of that in, like we've talked about later books or in a different set of novellas, like an interconnected series. It's maybe not a series, but just a bunch of standalones that get dropped. So you get bits and pieces. I'd prefer that because I love me a long book. I love me a book that knocks someone out. But I feel like there were certain times Like he mentioned before, where a couple of the sections kind of bored me a little. Just there was so much description. OK, come on. Speed it up. And I don't usually feel that. And I felt it a lot more in book one. I think everyone has said that about book one at some point. But there were more periods like that in book three than there were in two. So I felt like you kind of had that up and up speed, then back to like pickups where you'd be getting C: Yes. M: into the action and then stop. But it was all relevant. it's K: Yeah. C: That's because you don't have M: I don't know. C: the the falling in love yearning banter K: Mm. C: that you get in book two. That's why it M: That's true. C: is set above all the others is because of that K: Mm. C: banter back and forth between Reese and Fairy. You still get it in book three, but they're already mated. So it's not like there's that that the yearning isn't there anymore. But I can understand that. I do think there are parts where it's Like they're trudg trudging along and we're not doing anything exciting. So I got that. and yes, I would like to see it in other books, but then that comes back to then we're getting it from different perspectives, and I would have loved to see Farah's perspective as they're interacting with the High Lords more. And we'll probably not get that in another book, but we'll see. Who knows? Okay, what's a scene that you can't stop thinking about? M: the surreal. Like that whole, what, two and a half chapters just. C: It's rough. Mm-hmm. For me it is the fight on the ice in the winter court and Cassian and Azreel and their superhero landings because I love that scene. K: I had a few scenes actually I would go through and I have my little tabs. at the beginning when they're at the ceremony, I don't remember what it is, but where I am Yeah. That one C: The summer solstice. huh. K: that one's funny. And then when she gets trapped in the Weaver's cottage, I really like that whole scene with the cereal. And then when Nesta just looks at Helian and is like, I don't care. I love that M: You K: one. It just cracks me up every time I think about it. That's all of I just like the little it's not necessarily the whole scene, but just a little it's more of the banter that happens within the scene so that I think about more. Mhm. C: Right? Like the one liners. Did you find yourself judging any of the characters' decisions or actions? M: Not this time around, not really. After C: Hmm. M: throwing a glass and how Alyn processed stuff, I think I had less of a what that and more of a, okay, why did she do it this way, let me. So I think I was less judgmental with a different perspective. C: Okay. I still judge more. I just it's been five hundred years. You're telling me that life has been not great, that like you don't have people in your life that you can share your secrets with and not until Farah. And Farah she doesn't like if Farah gets her to say it, it doesn't come from more willingly to an extent. Farah like eggs her into telling her about it because she brings up Why haven't you made a move on Azrael? So yeah, I just I think I judge more not necessarily just from this book, but through the whole series. And I think probably 'cause I've just I'm not sure how to connect with her. Or I don't know her well enough to be able to connect. I'm not sure. K: Yeah. I don't really know about judging. I kind of forgot about more. The more is more is up there with all that, but One part of the book that kinda just I don't wanna say icky to me, but when Farah and Reese are in the war camp, I think it's after that first battle and with everything that's happening and I know why, you know, but the spicy time I feel like was just not I don't think that was a good time to put that in to the book with you understand what I'm saying? C: I understand, I disagree, but I understand. K: Yeah, and I I understand as well why, you know, 'cause it's they thought they were dying, you know, and then with as much it w that was happening. But with C: way she says that they thought they were dying, like whatever. M: Whatever K: I don't know. C: Reese literally does die, Kay. He does die. K: Yeah, I but not not then though. And when people were literally like screaming and in agony around them and then I can't I don't wanna just be vulgar, but you know, with what happens in that scene, I'm just like, Really? You know, that's what we're gonna do right now when p you literally hear somebody dying in the tent over. That's what we're choosing to do right now. That that C: Well, they're celebrating life. M: I can't say what I want to say because you'd have to cut all of it. K: Mhm. M: lovers are gonna love like let them go Sometimes C: Right? Like M: you gotta I can't I've been watching way too much reality TV, but sometimes you just gotta bang it out The emotions there you just gotta get C: Yes You just gotta that exactly true. Right? See, that spicy scene I thought was necessary, but when we get a second spicy scene at the end of book two or some point in book two, I think it was right after they had their their chapters where they accepted the mating bond, and then Reese was gone for a couple of days and then the Valaris gets attacked and then he comes back and that spicy scene I didn't K: Mm-hmm. C: think was necessary. I skimmed through it. this last time. Because great, let's move on. I know what's coming. Let's get to the story. So I guess I can understand where you're coming from because that one I didn't think was necessary. But if you think about it, that one's the only spicy scene in book three. K: Is it? C: It's the only full spicy scene. They might hint at some things and just say, you know, we slept together or we but that's the only official spicy scene we get in book three. Maybe we get K: Well in that case. C: Maybe we get a little bit more right after she comes back from the spring court. K: Yeah, we do. Yeah. M: Yeah, I thought we'd get at least one because it's their reconnection, reconnecting. C: And then that's it. Okay. M: the I just go to logical where I'm like, you are dirty. You K: That too. M: like I understand the logic of having it there and the romance side of it I get but then I'm just like That's the only part like I get, like I said, get anyway, I digress because I could go K: Yeah. M: on for another hour. K: Yeah. C: Yeah, that doesn't bug that doesn't bother me, so whatever. So we're all dirty. We're sweaty. We talked about this one after book one and said we wanted to bring it up later on. So if you would you consider getting a tattoo inspired by this book or the series in general? Cause I would say yes. M: Slightly. Now was slightly inspired by the book, slightly inspired by a change in my maiden name. Having my dad write my maiden name in real nice handwriting. But then I would like to have the mountains drawn, how you see them depicted behind the quote only. Yeah, C: The night court. M: I would like to have the mountains behind it as just representative of, hey, trials and tribulations, I think the mountains would tie into it because of the book and because of the emotional connection I've had to the book. So it would marry into a tattoo, but not fully be inspired by the series. C: Right. Nice. K: the bargain tattoo that she has with Ryaksis down the back, I think that would be really pretty. C: Carver. But yes. Mm-hmm. K: Was it? No. Yes. M: Mm-hmm. K: No, yes, it was because Braxis was the band. Yes. C: By accents. Yep. K: That one. And then the Ouroboros. I think would be pretty. And then have only you can decide what breaks you inside of it. C: Yeah. yeah, that would be really cool. feel like I would want the mountains with the stars above it. But I would have to like it would I d I wouldn't just get that. It would have to tie into something and I don't know what that would be at this point. But there's a high chance. I mean I have one for Throne of Glass, so why not for Avatar at some point down the road? Okay. Did the book live up to your expectations? I feel like we've kind of already talked about this question in the other questions that we've mentioned, that yes it is what it is, I think is Halp K put it, that we got to what we're we got what we needed from the book. We got the highs and the lows and the drama and the High Lord craziness. So I say yes it did. For the most part. I want more, but I just love the world, so M: Agreed. K: Yeah. Same. C: Could you see yourself living in any of the books cities? I think we would all say Valaris. But having been a beach girl most of my life, I would happily live in Adriata as well. Hands down, that sounds awesome. K: Mm-hmm. M: and the glimpses we've gotten, I kind of want to be part of decor. C: Yes. To an extent. K: feel like I'd be too bright all the time. That's 'cause I was gonna say that too and then I s that was C: Why? K: like a subtle Well just from the way it's described. You said day court, right? Or dawn. Wait, maybe I'm thinking about Dawn. Is it it's not the same? Is it the s that would be the same, right? No? C: No. No. Don is The Sin. We didn't get K: Yeah, yes. C: Daycourt. We don't get to see the day court. We get no, K: Yeah. Yeah. M: I thought it was Day Court that they... C: that's Dawn. They were in Dawn Court for the High Lord leading meeting. K: Yeah, it was Dawn. Yeah, that's so I was yeah, confusing the two, but yeah. I feel like Dawn would just be too bright all the time. M: Okay, maybe I was confusing you too then. Because it was the brightness that I was C: I don't under M: thinking. So maybe I was thinking Don Kort. Because I was thinking like. C: How would it be bright? Like it's not dawn all day long. K: know when I picture it, I just kinda see I imagine like white drapey things and like billowy and just lounge chairs. That's what I and kind of like a C: like Roman Greek kind of thing. K: Yeah, yeah, that's what I picture. C: See, based on Helian's attire, I felt Dakourt was gonna be more ancient Greek, Roman like. K: Dawn 'cause isn't dawn d didn't it weren't there clouds? Yeah, yeah, that's C: It was like a city in the clouds. Yeah. K: what I yeah. C: Okay. So just white clouds would be too much for you. K: No, just the sunshine. See, I actually went I C: There isn't more sunshine in the dawn court than there is in the night court. K: I don't know. just the way I my my mind sees it. I don't know. I don't know. C: Alright, Kay is not going to the Don Court. K: No, see I d I think if it was kinder I I think everyone's Valaris, right? But what about the Hewn City? Obviously the people know, but I feel like it was depicted just to be really pretty. And just Mm-hmm. C: couldn't be underground for that long, but the house on the on top of the mountain, hands down, I would live K: Mm-hmm. C: there. But I don't think I could live under a mountain or inside it. I think it'd be cool to visit, but I would not want to live there. K: Yeah. M: that would be too dark. K: Kinda reminds me of Lord of the Rings M: my head would go. K: where the dwarves that's what it reminds me of. Yeah. And I love that. C: That's what I think of too. Yep. But even then. Nope. Give me the elf tree houses in K: Yeah. C: Law Florian. That's where I want to be. So I'd probably end up in Autumn Court, which I would hate. K: Why do you think you'd end up there? C: Because that's how Lucian describes their their house, is that some of it's below ground, some of it's above ground, some of it's in the trees. K: yeah. C: And it just it just sounds like and I love red and things are so red there and jewel colored. I could just marry Eris, that would work. We'll get rid of all of his brothers and his dad and all the other mean people and now just live there with Eris. K: Sounds like a plan. C: Okay. What candle scent would you create based on this book and what would you name it? All let's hear it, Kay. K: Okay, so there are a few. So I think that one that is calming because everyone needs therapy. So like some eucalyptus and some some spa smells, you know? Something like C: Yeah. K: that. I just thought that would be funny. C: 'Cause everyone needs therapy. K: Yes. And something to do with the cereal. So maybe like a tea C: Okay. K: and a mossy smell. Something like that combined. and then There's one that's already out there, you know, that it smells like Tamlins acting like a little bee. M: I've seen those. K: I think that one's funny. mhm. C: huh. That one's so true. K: Yeah. I don't know what I'd what you would or what that would even smell like though. Maybe some roses and something Tamlinish, but I don't really know. M: Roses, lilies, and acrid campfire. C: I don't know that that would spell good. K: No. M: But would it not smell like Tamlin? If we're going for accuracy! C: All right. I'll give it to you. my gosh. M: See, I don't know. I would think I would want something more like. like foggy smells, know, like the English breakfast tea scent with K: Hey. M: like a bit of whatever they do to add the frost scent, not quite a mint, but something that's just real fresh without being linen. And I would want it to be for access, just something nondescript, black candle. You can't quite. get your finger on the scent, it's got like a Elmie spruce kind of tea, like you can't quite figure it, but then you're like, is it triggering joy or is it a scent memory associated with something scary? What's going on here? C: That's really funny. Okay. I don't even know. K: Yeah. C: Right. Yeah, I'm just you're y those are great options. M: hahahaha K: Plenty to choose from. C: Yep, exactly. What emoji best describes the book? Is it different from book two? I feel like it is different from book two because we said like eggplant in book two. K: Hmm. C: So maybe a a a cros a sword or some crossing swords for this book. K: Tea cup. C: A teacup. And some wings. K: Yeah. M: I mean, you could always go very basic and say a cauldron. K: Yeah, I was gonna say that too. C: That's true. Okay, that is the end of our Avatar related questions. We are going to finish up with our favorite new read and reread in June. And then our favorite book read this year, and is it different from last month? So I didn't read any new books in June. Shame on me. so unfortunately, I don't have a new book that is my favorite. My favorite reread obviously would be A Court of Mist and Fury, 'cause I finished that right at the beginning of June. Or I finished rereading From Luke Off with Love by Mariana Zapata and I will forever say she is just the best, so that is my favorite June reread. M: You want to go? K: Okay, just go. C: Anyone. M: reread a quarter wings and ruin easy. Well, no, I technically didn't finish that till today. Nevermind. Yeah, I guess I would C: Did you finish it in June? Yeah, exactly. You can't be using that. K: Mm, mm. M: have to say, I guess I have to say Akamath then because it only thing I reread in but favorite book for June did change for the year as well. Favorite June read, new read would be Hidden Nature by Nora Roberts. It was a little darker, a little more of a psychological thriller on the Nora Roberts side as opposed to her pen name. But it was something that you almost had to consume in chunks. I ended up reading two thirds of it early on in the year and then went back to it because it's one you have to be in the right mindset for. but it's indescribable just where it has your mind thinking, just are people evil? Where is the line of evil? How can you justify the actions you're taking in righteousness versus goodness, moral compass? It was a little twisty, but it was good. And I think because of how much I thought on it through the first six months of the year going back to it and just really wanting to be in mood, I really think even though I had to space it out, it takes the cake for probably moving into my top two favorites for the year. I still C: Wow. M: have my love for my Laura McKenzie series, which has continued by the way. So we'll talk on that at the end of July, yeah, Hidden Nature by Nora Roberts is not taking over for the year, but it's getting up there. C: Interesting. Okay. Kay, what about you? K: I didn't have any rereads because I finished Akamaf in May. 'Cause I read ahead. C: Yep. Shame on you. K: shame on me. I read I guess three new reads, but Say You Swear was probably my favorite June read. just because I haven't I don't really remember the last time I've cried that much. It was just so emotional. It was just a great story. C: And your first official sports romance book. K: Mm-hmm. C: Woo! K: Yep. Yep. C: So is that your new favorite for the year or are you sticking with Nocticadia? K: not kidd yeah, no, it's say you swear is will be my favorite for the year so far. C: okay. Interesting. K: Yeah. Who know, I I don't know. I just I really liked how emotional it was and how much it made me cry. I haven't e ever had a book really do that before. I cried a lot. So C: Okay. We'll get you to read more books then because I've done that quite often. K: Never done that. C: Awesome. All right. That is all the questions that I had for us. and that's a wrap for our special episode with questions more geared around a court of wings and ruins, since we just finished that book and that series. we had so much fun answering these questions, definitely laughed a lot and threw a little hate at each other just for fun.
