C: Welcome back to the podcast. We have officially finished House of Earth and Blood, which means it's time to put down the highlighters, step away from the conspiracy board, and pretend we have emotionally recovered enough to answer some questions. Today's episode is a special Crescent City QA, Where we're talking about everything from our favorite characters and moments to our biggest surprises. Wildest Theories, and of course, all the questions we still haven't had finished after this massive book. So grab your favorite bookish beverage. Curl up with your favorite fictional character. Because let's be honest, they're probably more interesting than the people in our real lives. And get ready to revisit the chaos, heartbreak, romance, and mystery of House of Earth and Blood. Let's see how much we actually learned and how many of our theories are completely and spectacularly wrong. So, first question per usual, flip to a page in the book and tell us your favorite part or favorite line on that page. I don't know where I want to go Alright, I'm okay with this one. Okay, so I went to page three ninety-four. Bryce and Hunt are arguing about something. I'm not I don't remember what, but they're arguing about something. because she has not made the drop yet. this is when they're going to look in the sewers to see if they can find any more dead bodies from the Kristallos demon. And he tells her that they he she hasn't made the drop yet. So he's not going down there unless they have a crap ton more weapons. And her response is, Can't you use your lightning thing to protect us? And his response is there's water down there. My lightning thing is not gonna be very good for us. That's a good part. K: I didn't turn to a very good page, so I'm looking. C: She's like, I'm turning to a different page. I need a better option. K: No, this one's, I just, there's a lot on this page. M: I feel like I've randomly K: no, this one's, sorry, go ahead. M: changed no, I was gonna say I've changed pages three times because I keep getting like all action pages where you there's nothing directly said because it's just all descriptions of movement. And I'm like, really? Back half of the book is not treating me well right now, guys. K: can't tell what this is. C: Read it to us and let's see. K: She's with Lehabah so she has to be in the library. Your cousin is dreamy. Lehabah C: Right. K: No, this is funny because it looks like Hunt and Bryce are going back and forth to one another. And he emails, I guess he's not there, and he emails Bryce, saw your cousin leave heading to the Comitium in five minutes. She said, don't give me orders, Athelar. Four minutes, sweetheart. I told you don't call me sweetheart. Three minutes. So just their banter. It's pretty good on this one. C: That's a good part. M: That is a good part. I think I'm gonna have to go it's not exactly a quote, but part or description. It's right after he was released by hypaxia when they're watching everything Bryce is going through, and the description of Sandriel is her mouth was still open in a scream, smoke rippling from her lips, the skin of her neck so damaged, Ruhn knew Hunt had torn it off with his bare hands. Just That line gave me chills both times I've read it now. For the first time I read the book C: Right? That's a good one. K: Yeah. M: and when we did our reread. So I think I'm gonna say C: That's a good one. M: page 749 treated me well. C: Okay, perfect. Next question. What is your overall rating for the book? Out of five stars? K: I have stars. Hands down. M: I'd give this one a five as well. C: I'm gonna give it a five. I'm M: I love me some press city. K: You C: gonna give this one a five because out of the three this one has been my favorite. So I I will agree and give it a five too. What was the biggest surprise? And I had to like think back to when I first read this book, but Hunt still being a rebel trying to buy the synth. That was a huge surprise K: no. C: the first time I read it. I did not see it coming whatsoever the first time around. And I was so devastated. M: Yeah. K: Mm-hmm. M: Bad or Micah. The interaction with Micah. I remember the first time I didn't pick up on it. K: Hmm. M: So when we got to that point, I was like, it was like three in the morning. I'm sitting reading. I actually woke my fiance up reading it the first time because I got to that. It was one of those couldn't put it down. So I would have to say that was the C: Yes. M: biggest. And I feel like this time around, I tried looking for clues leading up to it, and I still feel like Unless you're really, K: there's M: really, really, really trying to tie something together, it's not an obvious K: know like we C: Right? K: know he's bad, but that never crosses your mind at all. M: 'Cause you think he's good bad, so to speak, lesser of two evils when it comes to Sandriel being in the room too. So yeah, it that would probably be my biggest overhunt with the sin. C: So that Micah was the murderer or that he's the one like just Micah in general or something specific about Micah? Because there are multiple things with him. Okay. M: Him being the murderer, just the approach the approach with the scene with her in the library, that whole just as it started building. I remember even when he first got there, I was like, That's weird, but it still didn't quite click. And then all of a sudden, you know, the pages ramp up and you're just like, crap, like that's happening. Yeah. So I would say that would be mine. C: Gotcha. Okay. K: Yeah, that one's up there. Mine was actually when the pack dies. I was so devastated the first time I read that. I did not see it coming and I was so sad. I really, I was so sad about that. But that and then hunt, you don't see that at all. And I actually got a little bit, well, I didn't get a spoiler on it being Micah, but I knew something was gonna happen with Micah. So it wasn't as big of a, thanks Facebook, you but it wasn't as big of a thing when it happened, but. C: Right? That is one of our other questions. At what point did you realize Micah was behind the murders? And I think, like you said, we're kind of suspicious him in some regard throughout K: Mm-hmm. C: the whole book. I know the night when the Kristallos demon attacks Hunt and Bryce in the night garden, and after they kill it, Micah comes in and burns it like immediately. They're not even able to examine it whatsoever. And that part made me really suspicious of Micah in regards to the Kristallos demon, but I did not think he had actually killed Danika at that point. I thought he had been the one he was gonna be the one who summoned the demon and that's how they kill they were killed. So I figured it out that he was at least part of behind some part of it at that point. But that was it with Micah. M: I honestly I I still think it took me too when he walked into the library that I okay, this is changing. Like K: Mm-hmm. M: I didn't and then I'd say, you know, like a page and a half before you're figuring it out or you read it, you start figuring it out. That was kind C: Right. M: of like I'm like, and then, you know, right about I was like, it's her tattoo and then it was it, you know, so it it all kind of clicked in about that point for me. So I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading through it. C: Good. All right. our next one. what unanswered question are you most desperate to have answered? And I'm gonna try and keep mine without giving any any spoilers away because my response is how does the Crescent City world connect to the other worlds in the Mass Verse is my biggest question. K: Hehe. C: I I need to have that answered. Like how much does it overlap? I need to know. K: Yeah, that's what I have wrote down too. Just knowing what I know now, you know how at least the acotar crosses over. M: I would say the same. Honestly, I I want to know what's next. Like that's always my biggest. Okay, what's next? What's next? But with all the theories that I've avoided diving into, now I'm at the point of just how does it all tie in? I need to know. And I know there's stuff with Nesda that comes up to where I'm like, okay, I've seen all that, but I've kept so away from it that I just like chomping at the bit to even finish. sky and breath and out so we can move on. let's go. C: Right? We need the next one. Come on. that's great. Alright, who is your favorite character so far in the series? K: Mine was Lehabah C: Super sad response. K: She's just so cute. M: Can it be like a side mention and can I say the otters? Or does it need to be actual character? Because if actual character, it's not gonna C: Give me whatever you want. M: be much different. It'd be Syrinx I love Syrinx He reminds me K: We have Siri. M: of my cat. Mind you, a ton C: Yeah. M: of things do, but he's got the attitude of silvy So I'm just like like C: That's too funny. M: reading it, I felt so much more of a connection with the Syrinx moment. So I was like, my gosh. C: Right. M: I get it, Bryce. All the food. C: So that's interesting then that both of you chose not main characters, because I'd consider there's at least five main characters outside of Bryce and Hunt, and you guys chose none of them. Which is pretty funny. So it makes me wonder. Right? K: I just like your personality. C: It'll be interesting. I'll I will ask that question after the the second book, after House of Sky and Breath, and see what your answers are then. Because mine is is Ruhn, which is Obviously. Right? M: Shocking. C: Which character is the most like Rhysand in this series? That's who I'm gonna pick. my gosh. Okay, who is your least favorite character so far? M: Because of the unknown with her till the end of the book, it was fury. Fury annoyed me beyond belief. Because I don't like unanswered questions. I want to know what's your deal. I was suspicious of her more than Micah throughout because, you know, C: Really? M: up until up until the conference room when she K: That's valid. I felt that too. C: Okay. M: walked in and sat, I was like, maybe not. 'cause she was the one that had piqued my interest for the longest time. And then, you know, starting into book two, I'm like, okay. You know. Kinda like her. K: She just left the race hanging. M: Yeah. I d C: Right. I almost wish we would get a a Fury perspective because I think that would be neat to see. To an extent. To an extent. Because I just because I want to know her background. Because it gets hinted at so many times and we don't know for sure yet. And I just wanna know. I wanna know all the things. my least favorite character is Sabine, hands down. Easy. K: Mm-hmm. Me too. Can't stand her. C: Yeah. Bryce annoys me multiple times, but in the end, you know, I kind of come around to her. But Sabine, nope, she's just the B word the entire time. K: Yeah. She's not even the bad character, but she's like... You know, C: Right? K: Sandriel would be the obvious, but no, like we know she's evil, we know she's bad. Sabine's just... C: Right. K: being... a bee. To be one. Mm-hmm. C: Yeah. Exactly. M: A crappy mom. No one likes a crappy mom. Just gonna throw that out there. K: Mm-hmm. C: Right? I that's what I think it is, is that she's just yeah, and sh and and I can't figure out if it's really just that she's jealous of Danika. But I feel like even if she was that she wouldn't be as bad as she is throughout af you know, after Danica's death. So it's just like it's not just that. She's just a crappy person. Completely. M: Even if you think about it, if not after Danica's death, at least after everything was discovered that day. C: Great. M: But then she's still awful. So C: Yep, after the summit she is still terrible. Yeah. And we'll see that into the second book as well. Yay! Okay, which house would you belong to? And this kind of ties into our next question as well. Which supernatural creature would you want to be? K: This film was a hard one for me. C: This one was easy for me. So easy for me. K: Hold on, I wanna guess. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I had to go back, because there's just so many creatures and things that I couldn't remember. Okay, yeah, I have no idea. There's too many. C: Yeah, well so I I went in more of a general sense and not super specific because we don't get like we get little bits on what a Wraith is or what a Demonaki is. but like there's I feel like there's just so many parts to those different character different types of people in the book that we just don't get the descriptions of. Is it similar? in her in her world, is it the same as as in other worlds? Because it a vampire is different in every single book, K: Mm-hmm. C: just by a little bit. So I just stuck with I would either want to be an angel or fae because I want to be able to fly. And have a nice long life and be super pretty. That is that's my hitch. I will be completely honest. And I will tell you all of my DD characters, they have been either fae or half fae. Most of the time, if I have a chance to play an elf, which I consider is very close to the fae, that's what I'm gonna play in a video game. So I'm going with either an angel or fae Which means I would belong to the house of Sky and Breath. K: Can you be in a house be something different? I feel like that Do you have to be see if you're like? C: You don't have to K: an angel you have to be. C: be but it's just like weird when you're not. K: Yeah. C: Jesiba is a witch technically, but she defected K: Mm-hmm. C: from the witch house, Earth and Blood, and now is Flame and Shadow. Yeah. K: Yeah. I M: sí. K: wrote sprite. I just, I don't know, C: Like La Haba. K: they're yeah, they're just so cute. But I was thinking I'd probably be flame and shadow though and those didn't go together, so. C: I mean We can make it work. K: Yeah. C: Yeah. But like which kind of a sprite would you want to be? Which which element? K: I don't know, there's so many. I don't know. That's it's too, I don't know all of them. I'm just kidding. C: All them. Let me just rotate between them. K: Is that a thing? C: No. K: I don't know, we'll just go with Sprite. I don't know what kind. C: Okay, okay, sounds good. what do you got for us? M: I mean if we're defecting from houses that changes my option only slightly K: Mm-hmm. M: 'cause I immediately go to House of Many Waters. I blame it on desert dwelling myself. I've always loved water and whenever we're in the water I'm I at my age I still play mermaids anytime I'm in the pool. Like I'm always between the hair I I always want to do mermaid, but if I could be a witch mermaid like some sort of yeah, I would do that or be a witch that practices in waters so lives in the underground area that they have. Like yeah, that would be my that would be my my place. So either mermaid or water merr C: Or which? M: or witch merr if it allows. But yeah, definitely C: If possible. M: house and many waters. For sure. C: That's great. Okay. did you trust Hunt from the beginning? M: Yeah. C: Yes, which is why it broke my heart when he was a rebel. K: Yeah. C: Just because he is like he is the main male character, at least primarily throughout this whole book. And you just K: Mm-hmm. C: like we want to trust him. Like we trust Rowan, we trust Rhys An even before we know how awesome he is. We just that's just how it is. And K: Mm-hmm. C: it makes but it makes me wonder because I feel like we trusted Hunt right away. And as soon as Hormac comes in into the second book, we automatically were like, well, he's definitely not as bad as we think he is. Even though he presents himself as one of the bad guys. K: Yeah. C: So it makes me wonder, like, has Sarah just set us up when there's an attractive male who is a bad guy? We're just automatically gonna s no, he's totally not bad. M: See, as you say that, then that makes me concerned about what more we're gonna find out about resand in future. Cause I've always wondered. I mean, there's ties C: There are M: where I'm like, we could overlook it. It's fine for you, Will Will. C: There are quite a few theories that resand is vulg. K: Mm-hmm. C: So M: I think I asked you that at one point before we even started the podcast. So when we were going C: there's M: through thrown a glass, so K: I would be so sad though. no. C: I saw I saw another one the other day that we can't talk about until we finish Crescent City but I was like, my gosh I need to pin this because we're gonna bring it up. Yeah. 'Cause there are there are a little there M: Hang on, sorry, give me a second. K: Mm-hmm. C: are lots of similarities between Rhys and Maeve. M: And I I think that was because I think I asked you when we might have been going through throne a glass now that you say that. I think it was when I think it was after my heartbreak between the last few books C: Right. M: But I think I asked you a couple times. And C: And what's interesting is one of the theories that I saw too said Cormac. Very similar to Rhysand and Mave. 'Cause we get a little bit more, not a whole lot of information on Cormac, but we do get a little bit more from him since he has his shadows like Ruhn, but not like Ruhn. No no Cormac Azriel And somebody else I'll bring it up when we get to our when we get later on. We'll talk about it then. Your favorite Bryce and Hunt moment. I feel like there are quite a few, so it's hard to choose just one. K: Thank you. C: But I did just edit one of the episodes from the very beginning. I think it's like our second or third episode where they are they go to talk to Ruhn for the first time and they're leaving Ruhn and they're like she's like pushing Hunt off the sidewalk and into oncoming traffic. And but it's all from Rune's perspective. So I love that part because he is looking at them like this is a really bad idea. This is either gonna go really good or really, really badly. K: Thank C: And yeah, Rice is just trying to push him into oncoming traffic, which cracks me up. K: Mm-hmm. M: I think mine would be the Jelly Jubilee conversation. C: Okay. I can see that. M: That was instant thought as soon as you asked the question. So I'm I'm not K: Mm-hmm. M: even gonna question it. I'm just locking it in. C: That's it. That's the answer. The only answer. K: I had three when, that I noted as we read through. So the jelly jubilee scene, obviously, and the shower scene and huh. C: where she comes in. Yeah, okay. K: and then the nail salon scene. M: Huh. C: I almost I almost picked the nail salon scene because that was also part of the episode I just edited. And yeah, because she opens the umbrella and almost takes his eye out. And K: You C: I was just like giggling as we were talking about it. M: If I had a second I'd say when he was calling her after she shut the curtains, her going back and forth with the curtains the first night he's observing her. That initial. C: Right? Like that that first couple of chapters of them being together and then him like calling Isaiah and it hasn't even been twenty four hours, like it hasn't even been twelve hours at that point. And Isaiah's immediate a question is, is Bryce even still alive? Yes. Just the back and forth between the two of them at that point. Okay, if you could slap one character, who would it be? I have two answers for this one. Sabine, obviously, K: Sabine. C: and Bryce at the beginning of the book, the first half of the book, I just wanted to slap her. She drove me nuts. With all her alpha hole crap. Get over it. M: I'd say I I see your Sabine, but I also add the Autumn King to that. C: I don't know if I don't mind him because I've read the books and I know what's gonna happen. M: That's fair. C: 'Cause I and I don't want to say anything else because I don't want to hint at how much he is in the books. but yeah, I just I he doesn't bother me as much. Like I feel like he's supposed to be this like secondary bad guy. But he's just yes, he's he's a he's a butt. K: Mm-hmm. C: He's a you know, he's a butthole to everybody. But at the same time, like he's not actively in their lives constantly trying to ruin or control things. So maybe that's why I don't feel like he's as like that I d I just don't care. I just don't care about him. He just hasn't been there. K: Yeah, I think it's another thing like with Sandriel, we already know he's crappy, right? C: Yeah. Yep. K: Yeah. M: Makes sense. C: Which character do you trust the least amount at this point in the series? K: Keseba. C: Really? K: the view like... catch your eyes at me, yes. C: Okay. I mean she's s got some sh crazy shady stuff going on. K: She's just in too intentionally mean too. You know? Just in certain things. She's just always catching attitude and I just don't like it. C: Yeah. Interesting. Emily, I want to hear yours first before I say mine. M: That's a hard one, honestly, for me. C: I mean, do we trust Hunt yet? Are we back to trusting him again? M: See, I feel like after he saved her life, yeah. Like there's no question there. Like they're they're good. Bygones can be bygones. Doesn't C: Once we realize that he regretted going to buy this in yeah. M: I would say, you know what? There was a part of me that I wasn't sure how much I trusted Isaiah towards the end of the book because we know he's gonna have to take in or take the lead for that time. So I wasn't sure how much I trusted him once everything happened with Hunt at the end and his his tattoo was changed. I started questioning, okay, well, is it gonna be Next in command kind of acts the same without being an archangel. So if I take it the fact that we started the second book out of the conversation, I'd probably say Isaiah has me just kind of on edge. C: Yeah, interesting. mine is Rigelis the bright hand of the Asteri, because he sounds like the type of character that just creeps me out. Completely creeps me out. And especially the way he's described. He just ugh, I just get ick when they talk about him. M: Ha C: Okay. Did you successfully predict any plot twists in the book? K: Not a one. M: No. K: you. M: Mm-hmm. C: trying to remember back to when I actually read it for the first time. Like I said, I knew something was up with Micah the first time I read through it. I just didn't know the full extent of what he had done. And I thought Bryce had the horn or that the horn would be in Danica's jacket or that in somehow some way Bryce was gonna have the horn. I did not think it was going to be in her tattoo, but I figured that at some point Danika had to have given it to her or left it in the gallery for Bryce to find. Those are the only things closest. So not a full prediction, but kind of close. What detail are you convinced will become important later on? I feel like there are a couple of things you guys pointed out throughout the book. Like the Archesian amlet that she wears. gosh, what was it? M: I can't even tell you because I'm gonna be honest. My memory has gotten a lot better since the middle of K: and M: the book than it was early on. I know it. and it's something that was in this book too. no it's in book two. It's in book two. It's Rune's Lip Ring. It's book two. C: that's right. You pointed that out and K: Bye. C: something else out with the hind. No, I feel like there is something else that you pointed out. that's gonna drive me nuts. K: You know that page I was just on when you asked that question earlier about what question was that when we flipped to the random page I don't even remember what page it was on but even in that on that page it was talking about his piercings. Is that C: Ruins piercings. K: uh-huh yeah I was like that's weird but even early on it's pointing out M: In the set of chapters we're talking about next, it's mentioned three times in the first couple pages K: Mm-hmm. M: of the chapters. K: It is kinda weird though. C: That is. M: And it's 'cause Sarah has K: push harder and remember what page it was on. M: never honed in on a piece of jewelry, a crown description, unless it has some sort of tag. K: I found it. M: with the opulence of the ones Rhysand has and the ones in Throne of Glass and how the shapes K: Mm-hmm. M: were. So but again, that's book two. So I guess you could say C: Right? We're not talking about book two. M: it for book one because he did it was mentioned a couple times, but it C: Yeah, it is. K: Yeah, even right here. M: didn't click for me till book two. K: Yeah, his piercing is glittering in the first lights from this one. C: So if we go based on what you just said, that Sarah does not mention things multiple times without it coming to a meeting, then that would mean the color of Bryce's nails. Throughout the book. M: And we did talk about our nails changing a couple of times too. K: Mm-hmm. C: No no, they're the same throughout the whole book. She goes to get them done and doesn't go and get them done ever again, that is mentioned. But the color of the nails is mentioned at least M: Is continuously referenced. C: three times. Possibly four. So that's that's mine. M: Hmm, that might be something to pay attention to in the new book. They were dusky K: What colors were they though? Weren't they... M: pink, right? C: Yeah, I think the first time it's mentioned that they look like twilight because it's a gradient. They're not just a solid color. And then another point it mentions that they are a dusk kind of purple pink. K: Mm-hmm. C: So twilight the first time and then dusk the second and third times that I can think of. K: Hmm. M: I mean, and of course, to throw back to all our other episodes with you, Phantom Wind was mentioned again. And didn't we get Phantom Breath too and C: We got Phantom as a f description for multiple things. We got Phantom Wings, a Phantom Limb, we got Phantom we did get Phantom Wind once or twice, but we got it more often describing something other than the wind, which I think is interesting. M: So if we're with how much we focused on Phantom Wind in the past, I think that stuck out naturally. But I'm curious to see and I'm hoping you know what it all ties to, 'cause I'm like, okay, what all is phantom? C: I'm not gonna say. M: Mm. Hang on, sorry. C: Would you would you read you're K: Periwinkle tips. Sorry, I was trying to find... C: trying to find the nail description. K: Yeah, I'm sorry. was trying to find it. Okay, I'm C: Okay. Would you reread the book? M: Yes. K: Mm-hmm. C: Yeah, just because I have to. I mean M: Ha ha ha. C: I like it, but K: yeah. C: yeah. K: Because you have to. C: if you do a full reread of all of her world, then you have to read Crescent City as well. Full reread. If you're doing a if I'm going back and just reading my favorites, then I'm skipping the first ACOTAR and I'm skipping the first three or the first two Throne of Glass books and I'm potentially skipping all of Crescent City. We'll see. We'll M: I mean C: see at the end of at at the end of this if I still think M: Honestly, I don't know if I'll read Assassin's Blade again anytime soon. Like when we do a Throne of Glass reread for the podcast, I would of course read it, but otherwise, even going through it in the changed order that I read it, it's still C: I if when I do a reread, if I don't want to reread everything, I will do the first three short stories in it, but then the last two, which is she's back in in the kingdom and it's leading like her and Sam doing stuff. I don't give a crap about Sam, so I don't read those. Sorry, Sam. M: You know, and I say that and now I'm like, maybe it would be a good idea when we do a reread because I'll know more to pay attention to than the first time C: Yes. M: around. C: we're going to. We're just we're gonna have to is what it comes down to. Especially after the posts since yeah, since M: The new ones come out. C: they have post. K: Mm-hmm. know some popular opinion but if we can skip over like the last I don't even know how many chapters of Kingdom of Ash because... bleh. C: Right? Yeah, that really pissed me K: Yeah. C: off. but yeah, there are lots of theories that the new books are in relation to Throne of Glass World. Like hardcore. Yeah. K: That'd be C: Okay, we'll get to that. We'll we'll do that sometime. K: Mm-hmm. M: I've tried really hard not to even read any theories on that yet either. I've read a couple and the ones you guys sent, but I've I just don't have room in my brain. Plain and simple. C: That's good. You don't need You don't need yet. K: We'll see how people come up with some of that stuff though. C: Right. K: was like, where did you pull that from? M: They came up with it quick too. C: Okay, was this book worth eight hundred pages? M: Actually, yeah. As much as I K: I so. M: don't like the first thirty, forty page trudge, yes. Every part of it. C: Yeah. Yeah. That's what I have because I remember the first time I read the book, I actually stopped right before Danika and the Pack of Devils died because I was annoyed with how long it was taking to get for anything to happen. Because the first like seven chapters are all the same day, which is insane. K: Mm-hmm. C: But once you get past that, I feel like enough happens. quickly enough through the rest of the book that it keeps you interested once you get past that first part. K: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I didn't know if you were gonna go back to the question, what would you, what advice would you give to like the new readers of the book? Just C: yes, yes, I was. K: to push through. Yeah, that's C: Right? K: what I was gonna say. C: Just push through. Which is I feel like the same thing that we say when it when we recommend ACOTAR Just read K: Mm-hmm. C: the first book and think of it as a prequel is what I tell people. Just read it. Enjoy it if you can, but just get to the second book. And yes, with Crescent City, just get halfway through. Push to get K: Mm-hmm. C: halfway through. If you're still not interested, then I understand, but at least push to get halfway through. All right, favorite quote in the book. M: I know exactly where it is, dual. C: I I have a couple because I don't in Hall of the ACOTAR books, I feel like there was one quote that I really loved. And in these I don't know that there's one specifically that I really loved. There are just multiple that I really liked. But and I can't look I can't find it now. But whenever they talk about being the mirror of each other, I think that's one of my favorite parts is realizing that they are. w a throne of glass if we're gonna reference that. It's like this just K: Thank C: different sides of the same coin. They're mirrored in each other. So I really liked that. But I do like the lighted up that Danika and Bryce say to each other. K: Mm-hmm. M: I the moment it I mean I love it all the way through the book, through Love, through Love, All Is Possible. But the moment it hit was when Sabine said it as they're watching everything go down at the summit. That C: As the answer. Yes. M: yeah, that just it's the one endearing Sabine scene we ever get so far. K: Mm-hmm. C: Right? Ever. M: And it just to have her have that moment, it just broke me because it was finally like a you get it from her and you get her you felt like she understood, which I think is what angers us so much about her afterwards. But yeah, it th through Love All Is Possible. I think just the general theme of the book had been my K: I have a few, but my favorite, it's when Bryce is making the drop and she's talking with Danika. And when Bryce, you know, doesn't want to go back, she doesn't want to go through it anymore. And then C: Yes. K: Danika says, that's the point of it, Bryce, of life, to live to love, knowing that it might all vanish tomorrow. It makes everything that much more precious. C: Yes. That was one of the other ones I really liked. Who do you think we're going to see more of in the second book that we didn't see a lot of in the first? Do you think there's a a character that's been mentioned that we're going to see more? Just kind of hard to answer considering we've already started the second one. K: Mm-hmm. M: If I were to think back on that to when I first did the read, I was thinking the more we learned about Fury in the end, we'd see her. Kinda feels C: Okay. M: like a cheat answer because, you know, we've started book two, but I do remember getting excited when I saw her show up in the second because I was wanting more of that. So K: Just going off of the first one, I would assume that we would see more hypoxia, but I don't, we haven't, we haven't seen her so far, right? That I can think of. M: Mm. K: Yeah, so I would assume C: I mean, K: she would have to be. C: just as her helping them out as a medwitch is how we've seen her so far. K: Yeah. M: And then Ruhn mentions in what we've seen so far in book two, just the brief passing of, we're still betrothed or whatever, but K: Yeah. M: we haven't actually seen her or had her in the room with anyone's perspective yet. K: Yeah, and then he was wondering if that might be cheating and then they're not technically, you know, together, C: Yes. K: together. C: Yep. Yeah, she is one that I am interested in seeing more of in book two. Hope that K: Mm-hmm. C: we see more of in book two. Okay, and then to end us. What was your favorite new read for July? Emily's like, Did I even read any new books in July? M: Not me going to my Goodreads app right now. K: Mm-hmm. C: Right. K: So I read quite a few in July. C: You did. K: I did, a lot in July. So, The Women by Chris and Hannah and Check and Mate by Ali Hazelwood. Those are both great. And they're completely different genres, but they're both C: Yeah. K: really good. C: Forget what my answer was. I read a total of four new books in July and they're in my book journal, which is way over there. And I was trying really hard to remember. I think that's right. So yeah, I read four books in July. None of them were like five star crazy good. But the one I remember the most of, how I'm going to gauge this for tonight, is Amy Dawes' nine month contract. It starts out like rolling on the floor level funny for like the first five or six chapters. So freaking funny. It does kind of die down and then it was more of a I'm just gonna finish reading it to finish reading it. But the start of the book was fantastic. And because it's supposed to be a kind of play off of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, the musical, which is my favorite because Stockholm Syndrome, why not? So that's why I started reading it to begin with. But that would have to be my top for July. M: I I read a whole one brand new book in July. C: Yeah. Which was M: Vampires Don't Suck by Julianne Wicker. It was a little cheesy. It was funny. you know, like you were talking, vampires are different in any any author that writes about them. There's something different. But it's interesting because she was like an ancient She understood ancient studies you know she has a background, but she get drips and drabs of her background going through it. And then sh all of a sudden she's with this vampire and walking around accidentally raising another ancient vampire. Like it was funny. It was it was cute. It was cheesy. I actually pulled up the Gargoyles Don't Rock, which is the second one. They're all kind of standalone, but they're standalone with the same, you know, type of mindset. C: Yeah, same world. M: And I haven't started it yet because someone has asked me to keep reading one that I finally started reading. so I haven't started yet, but it was good, it was cute, but it didn't keep my interest enough for me to really keep going back and wanting to finish it. Versus I've already finished four new reads for August so far. my favorite reread was not Crescent City though. It would have been the graphic audio version of Harry Potter and K: you M: Was it it was Goblet of Fire. That was the one I went through for July, 'cause graphic audio versions are just Phenomenal. So that was my favorite reread and I would rate it higher than Vampires Don't Suck. But Vampires Don't Suck was I'd say it's like a three star you want to read something kind of just a throwaway read, Alec K: Okay. M: Cleanser read. C: Three stars that's mean. M: I mean, I've rated stuff down to two or one, so C: Three star a book if it's bad. no, no no. K: really? M: no, I'll go down to a one star. no, I K: No. yeah. M: I'm very honest in my like three is a good K: huh. No, I used all the stars. M: solid K: Yeah, it's a meh. It's okay. It's not the best thing I've ever read, yeah. M: Like it wasn't awful. I finished it, but how much would I recommend K: Mm-hmm. M: it? Those that want funny, pithy, just like I said, a throwaway. Sometimes you need a K: Thank you. M: beach read that's not a beach read but vampire based. Cool. I'm that way. I need vampire stuff in my life sometimes, but not all the time. So it didn't have the same feel that the the Laura McKenzie once have had that I've liked so much this year though. With that world of supernatural, so I think I was wanting more fun fantasy light as opposed to some of the serious dramatic C: Right. M: stuff that came. Apparently I need to read more this month to my book game. C: Right? Okay, last question. Your favorite new read for the year, is it different from June? Mine is not different. It is still in her own link. Nothing can surpass it. M: Mm. I went back and forth still trying to decide if Hidden Natures are in her own league, which one took it. And I still think the Nora Roberts one took over in her own league. I liked it that much. So nope, C: Yeah, okay. M: didn't change from June, but June changed it from March. So you know. K: Yeah, mine was Say You Swear, which is great. And see, I have a hard time changing because I have favorites in different genres. And so it's just so C: Yeah, different genres. It's hard. K: hard, but. The Women was just so much more well written and impactful and had such a great story that it's definitely probably my top read this year. M: All right. I know you mentioned that one to me. I need to add. K: Mm-hmm. It's really good.
