speaker-0: Two. Such a good call podcast. speaker-1: With your girls Brachah and Jackie. speaker-0: Thank you for being here today. speaker-1: I think we have to change the name of our podcast to Bracha and Jaffe. How come no one's ever called me Jaffy before? I like it. speaker-0: Racha and Jaffe. I mean if we're changing it, we're changing it to BB and Jaffy. speaker-1: Bibi and Jeffy with their girls BB and Jeffy. Those are for real ones. I love your guitar. speaker-0: ⁓ no. speaker-1: Ha ha ha. We get prime video spot of the guitar tonight, which is w feel very fortunate. speaker-0: You guys, I'm really manifesting for us some prime video recording soon. Elite audio. All of it. Like we're gonna get there. speaker-1: Okay. We do things so differently. Like I can't like Okay. We're manifesting. We're absolutely doing nothing to get us there just to like to give everyone some speaker-0: ⁓ my gosh. ⁓ speaker-1: So it's just like on our brain, but we didn't do anything. speaker-0: Yeah, like just you'll see in a few weeks. Like I need time. I'm not there yet. I'm not really a person right now, but what I do for the Gwigs, you know? speaker-1: I feel like our shtick is getting old where like every week we come on we're like we're not a person speaker-0: I I know, I know. And I was like, I really can't do that. It's not nice. But you know what? It's just the truth. And I don't think I'm alone in it. Like I think we're all like that. And also the pod like gives me life. Like as we record, I start to feel better. But I definitely start off like making up my thread. speaker-1: Yeah. No. Yeah. Literally. Okay, wait, before we get into it, do you have a dedication, Bra? I do Amazing. speaker-0: I do, I do, I do. speaker-1: Mm-hmm. speaker-0: This week's episode is dedicated to Liraz Afulin, who is 38 years old and killed at Nova Festival. At first they thought that she was a hostage because they couldn't find her, and then later they discovered that she was killed and her body was identified. Liraz operated with wisdom, care, and great loyalty to the Tamara Water Company. She came across a problem that was bothering her. She would call me even late at night and we would solve the issue together. She was remembered as well for her culinary abilities, particularly in preparing traditional Moroccan desserts, as well as her close relationship to her family and her many nieces and nephews. Her sister, Liz, said, We want to tell her story. She deserves that everyone should know how good and special she was. She had so many aspirations, motivations to succeed, to develop her career. This year, everything was supposed to open up for her. And it was all cut short. She loves her nieces and nephews and spent time with them. She was their math teacher. She was all heart and everyone who knew her could say where she's at in their heart. Her brother, yes, he said, if I keep talking about her, it will always sound like a cliche. But in my experience, a cliche is a truth that is repeated many times. Liraz deserves for her story to be heard. Liraz was the backbone of the family. She was an incredible daughter, a wonderful sister, a perfect aunt. She was always there to help, to support, to advise. She was always smiling, loving, modest, and humble. Liraz is so missed by us. She loved to party, to live life in every moment. She loved music, friends, concerts. She was at the peak of her life, at a stage when doors were opening. She was so happy and joyful and it felt so much. Lirazi, we love you endlessly. We miss you with every breath we take. You are with us in every activity we do. And every thought. Her and a Shema should have an aliyah. Okay. Let me tell you why I'm so unwell. I think I have that lettuce. That lettuce, ⁓ why am I saying disease? Sickness. What's it called? I don't have words today. Jaggie, help. speaker-1: I mean, thanks, Brapa. Does it affect your brain too? speaker-0: Virus the lettuce virus. speaker-1: Why do you think you have the lettuce virus? speaker-0: Because it d what do I have? Guys, I've been sick for a week now with a stomach bug. And before Z before Jackie starts looking at me like, did you take the top? Zev also has the same bug, okay? So we both have it. And I'm gonna be honest with you, I was eating salads. Is that still a thing? speaker-1: I don't think so. But what happened with that lettuce outbreak? speaker-0: I don't know, but maybe I'm here to tell you. speaker-1: ⁓ gosh. By the way, like as someone speaker-0: Nothing gone? Everyone was talking about the lettuce and then they stopped. speaker-1: Yeah, I moved on to blueberries. I wasn't allowed to buy blueberries for a while. Okay, great. Like my speaker-0: By the way, was eating a lot of yogurt parfaits last week. speaker-1: Okay. I was eating I had a whole thing of blueberries in my fridge, and my friend was like, You're not allowed to have those. I was ⁓ my God, throw them out. speaker-0: This is why you need to eat unhealthy. speaker-1: Wait a minute. Yeah, by the way, so right. ⁓ wait, I have to go back to the lettuce. Like I have to put everything in my brain now. As someone who's like mildly to moderately fearful of vomiting. Yeah. The only thing that gets me through a stomach bug is knowing that it will end in twenty four hours. Like I will not be doing this for more than twenty four hours. And that's always what I tell like my kids. I'm just like, it's not gonna last. Like You're you're it's gonna end really soon. Like it will be over. And like the fact that you're telling me this is lasting more than twenty four hours is actually terrifying to me. Like I might become a germaphobe. speaker-0: First of all, had real PTSD when I was throwing up. I was like, ⁓ my gosh, this is so scary. Like it brought me right back to HG. And I need to explain to you guys again, because any chance that I have to raise awareness about HG, I will, because it is not spoken about enough at all. Think about your worst stomach bug. Like that day that you're s that you're so sick. You're the worst stomach bug you've ever had. It's that for nine months. speaker-1: No, I don't understand how you have any children. speaker-0: No, no, no, no, no. It doesn't make sense. I literally I it's it's crazy. It's crazy. It's crazy. speaker-1: Crazy. Same how you live, like you can't like how do you speaker-0: No, you don't. Like you literally don't. Like you're I have no clue. You can't talk to people. Like if your kids come and say goodnight, they smell to you. Like everything makes you nauseous. You're just shaking and severely nauseous all day. You're you're literally not a person. It's so crazy. speaker-1: Like everyone What did like cave women with HG do? Like just die? I guess. There's no like life-saving meds. If you're you're literally like speaker-0: I think we're still there. Like I think that the amount of research and help there is for women with HG is as if we're cave women still. Like there's really nothing. I've had doctors that didn't even know what it was. They're like, ⁓ you're sick. No, no, no. I'm not I don't have like a morning sickness. Like this is, you know, like illness. Yeah. So sending so much love to anyone with HG right now creates. speaker-1: Warrior. You should get like an award at the end of that. speaker-0: You do, your kids, you know. speaker-1: Yeah, but like I didn't go through that nail sweat. You know what I'm saying? Like speaker-0: Yeah, no, I I'll say it again. I've said this before, and like this is insane. It just like shows how crazy HG is. I went through and I say this every time we talk about this, but I went through infertility, finally got pregnant, had HG, had a miscarriage, and just felt like, okay. Like really was my first like that's how bad it is, you know. But yeah, so it was Rosh Hashanah and I was still sick. But you know what's weird? Even though I was in Shual I wasn't in Shual and I was in bed like sick, I had a very spiritual day. speaker-1: How? speaker-0: I just kept thinking like Hashem knows. Hashem knows, you know? And I could connect to Hashem just as much right now. I could just talk to Hashem. Like Hashem knows. And that's what I've been I've been feeling this a lot, ⁓ the past few weeks. Myself. speaker-1: Mm-hmm. speaker-0: But just Hashem knows whatever you're going through, if you like something happens and your kid doesn't get into seminary or you don't get into a seminary and it's be for a reason that's like so not true and someone else gets in that like they Hashem knows. You don't need to like that feeling of like having to tell someone for like justice or whatever it is, Hashem knows. So that's I didn't like speaker-1: I could tell you I could tell you personally that I did not get into any other seminary but bare Miriam and it was Hashem's bracha to me because that's where I sh was supposed to be. speaker-0: True, but also like I didn't know that. What was that like for you? speaker-1: I was confused also. Like I didn't know like it didn't make sense to me. I'm like, wait, what? Like I didn't get in. ⁓ but like I was waitlist I wait I was waitlisted and they said like if I push it, I could definitely get in. But like I'm not the girl who like if you don't want me, like I'm not coming. Like you have to want me to be there. I will not like beg, you know, that's so not me. speaker-0: It didn't but it made sense. Either way, same. speaker-1: Yeah, so like I'm sorry, like that's n then that you answered the question for me. You don't want me there, I don't want to come there, so I know where I need to be. So it was like hard because I didn't feel it was warranted, but like at the same time I'm just like, Okay. Thank you for making my decision either. speaker-0: Also, I think is the worst feeling, and we for sure have spoken about this. I don't think I feel it in my adult life. But the feeling of like being judged, and you know that you're that it's wrong, you know. speaker-1: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. speaker-0: Even I had that in seminary, it was kicked out for the day, right? Or like I had a nose ring and they're like, ⁓ she's like troubled. And I'm like, ⁓ my gosh, no, I'm I'm I'm a good girl. Like, I'm sweet. Like, I'm not like don't like label me. And it was also very confusing because when the people that you're supposed to look up to you know are wrong, you know, and they're like, How could if they're treating me like this, how could whatever? I like really in the end it all worked out, but I remember having like A lot of thoughts about that and like conflicting speaker-1: Yeah, also 'cause like you wanna trust the people, you know. ⁓ speaker-0: Exactly. I'm like, how can I trust anything that you say when I know that like I know better than you right now? Like you're showing me, you know. I also that's why I always think like I didn't grow up in the Shivish system or like the more to the right. And I always ask girls that grew up from like, what was it like for the girls like us? Like the typey EDHD girls who just don't fit into A box and like aren't the best students. Like, what happens to those girls when you're in a system that's really judgmental and like What what is that like? You know? speaker-1: Is that just in Yeshivish? I feel like in all circles, like if you're academic and you're ⁓ motivated and you're on all the teams, like you're rewarded for all of that, you know? Like I just feel like across speaker-0: But I don't think I don't know. I think that there's no one is like my personality would just be considered like not Sineus. That doesn't exist the way I grew up. You know, I was just like crazy or loud, but it wasn't like that. Yeah, I wouldn't have to struggle with like I'm not Sineus because I don't fit into ⁓ speaker-1: Mm-hmm. You're saying there's social ramifications to it where it speaker-0: I don't know, I didn't grow up that way. But also like they have like the please and but if you can't express yourself like through fashion I don't know. It's it's interesting. I hope those girls are okay. Yeah. speaker-1: Yep. Praying for you all. yeah, I don't know how we got here. How did we end up here? How did we get here? speaker-0: to get out? ⁓ I don't know. ⁓ yeah. Your seminar. You didn't you didn't get in. speaker-1: ⁓ you were saying speaker-0: Like I'm sick and I'm not in school and like is this right, like I should have nose. speaker-1: Hashanah. Hashem knows. So you made it through. speaker-0: Mean through. I felt very bad for my mom. She cooked so much and like ⁓ I wasn't able to go out to one of my cousin meals and then no one was able to come to us because I was sick. I felt really bad. She did a lot of cooking and I kinda like sabotaged but speaker-1: whole thing, but it's really hard when like you make a plan and then someone gets sick and like ruins it for everyone. speaker-0: Yeah, and you're cooking nonstop. She's like, I made a million new recipes, all her favorite food bloggers. Like, I'm so sorry. But I'm also dying, so I can't even tell you that I'm sorry right now because speaker-1: My mom. My mom, the Tadigus that she is, drops off all of her leftovers from Rosh Hashanah at my house today. Amazing. ⁓ speaker-0: That's well I just had a lot of leftovers. That was the best. speaker-1: Yeah, she's such a potky girl, my mom. Every yuntiv, she's making all new recipes. Like, so impressed with her. But let me tell you, how was your Okay. My Rashana was really nice. We actually had most of the meals just our family, like just me, Daniel, and the kids. And it was actually really sweet. Like my kids are like old enough to stay up for the night meals, except for the meetings. speaker-0: Yeah. Russia China, yeah. Why didn't I have it with your parents? speaker-1: And then we walk we walked my basically Daniel's back is still an issue. We literally I literally can't talk about it. It's like too painful. It's too rough. ⁓ but to walk there like we planned it so that if we Daniel can walk speaker-0: Laughing. I'm like sitting here talking about like how like being sick is the worst and I'm like laughing. Yeah, we're not dying ⁓ speaker-1: He really is. Like he really like showing like lots of pain. Like a hundred. Okay. He's not lying. But ⁓ so we planned it that like the last lunch we'll walk to my parents. It's like a far walk. ⁓ and then if Daniel can do it, we'll you know, we'll walk back. If not, we'll drive, you know. Right. So the other three meals was just us and it was really sweet. ⁓ like my kids like were learning about stuff about Rosh Hashanah and we did like by the way, I I feel like I said this last year. I never knew a Simonim were. Like I I'm not familiar with their work. Like I don't I really don't know what's speaker-0: I see this every time. No when did it become mainstream? Because it was not very good. speaker-1: I've never even heard of it. I didn't even know they existed. And then Daniel's like, ⁓ I just picked up some of the C Monim. I was like, ⁓ like I would have done it. I just don't I don't even know where to start. Like Still fine. Still, I still don't know. We we we did some of it. I don't know if we did it right. Like I we really we're on a learning curve, you know? Like this is our Balchubaness. Like we're we're coming towards it slowly. ⁓ So like we did all this stuff, you know, felt like Rosh Hashanah. ⁓ but then so the first day, ⁓ my babysitter came for the baby, Vara Hashem. It was really nice. I was able to go to the rest of my kids were in groups. And ⁓ I like walk with my kids to shul, I drop them off at groups, and I sit in shul and like I sit down, braca, I smelled horrible, like disgusting. Like I sat down and I start smelling my sweater. It reeks of onions. speaker-0: Why? Yeah. speaker-1: And I'm like, ⁓ my god, what is this? And I'm smelling and I can't stop smelling my sweater. Like I'm I'm literally like nauseous from it. And then my friend Tova is next to me, and I'm like, my god, I smell I smell so bad. She's like, What are you talking about? I was like, No, I smell horrible. Like the whole section around me, I'm sure, smells it. Like, it's so potent to me. Rocca, I tried so hard to sit and dive in. I went home to change. speaker-0: I mean I would too, but did she smell you? I feel like she would tell you. speaker-1: She didn't smell me from like where she was next to me. But like I went in the hallway and I saw my friends, and I'm like, Can you just smell my sweater? And they smelled what I was smelling. speaker-0: Okay, but wait, but that's different. Would if they didn't have to smell your sweater, just like standing next to you and talking, would they have smelled it? speaker-1: Like I can't tell if everyone was being nice to me, but like I was standing in my body and I smelled it. speaker-0: So you went changed and went back to speaker-1: Yes. In a different outfit. In a different outfit. It was so cozy. But I couldn't. I don't even know the words I said. I couldn't think straight. Like I couldn't speaker-0: You're gonna have a year of just like smelling really good. speaker-1: I could also so like w I figured out what happened. Basically the day before, like Arab Yantif, I planned the whole day around getting a family picture because we have zero. Like put on the sweater for the picture and Daniel was cooking some like broccoli, onion, whatever, and it reeked. ⁓ my god. speaker-0: So impressed that you got that picture. speaker-1: I was so impressed. I I don't have any. I have zero pictures from No, but I literally was on the phone with Daniel like my whole commute home. I was like, Okay, make sure this one's in the shower and this one's dressed. I don't care if his shirt's dirty speaker-0: You work. Like that's ⁓ my gosh, so you had to go and change. speaker-1: So I went home and changed and like then I got back and like it was just the first day was a a was shot. Like I tried my best and it was really unsuccessful in terms of tefila for me because I mean speaker-0: I mean the fact that you went to school, sat down, Dobbins, is like a huge win as a mom. speaker-1: Yeah. No, it is. I feel very fortunate to get to do that. ⁓ because I really don't always. And then day two. ⁓ I went to sleep that night and I like wasn't feeling a hundred percent and I woke up like a whole cold situation. Like my throat was hurting and I was up all night sneezing and coughing and like I have some like congestion situation going on. I was just feeling like achy and tired and just like off. speaker-0: No worse. speaker-1: And by the way, ⁓ you probably don't know this because you were in bed, but it was a mobile. Like an actual mobble. And I w had to walk with my kids to hear chauffeur blowing in the mobble. I was feeling so garbagey, like really, really bad. And like my kids were like, We need to hear the chauffeurs. I'm like, I can't not bring them. Like I have to bring them. So I brought them to Shual. We had to like I was comp I was soaking wet. speaker-0: No, I know, it was really, really raining. speaker-1: Soak it through my jacket, like on my wig was soaked, everything was soaking wet. My kids were soaking wet. I brought extra shoes for them. And we're changing, we're sweating, you know. But then, whatever, we made it to show all. But then, like the air conditioner's and show and I'm wet. So and I don't feel well. And I'm just like, and then I'm freezing, then I'm like chills and aches all over my body. And then I'm just like ⁓ and then have to walk 30 minutes to my parents. And Daniel's back. And I'm just like, we are falling apart. Like, we cannot. And it was supposed to be like such a like smoothie on tip. Like we set it up for success, you know. It just did not play that way. ⁓ but I want to share my hack with you because my brother-in-law is from New Zealand. Like, fun fact. And he claimed him and his mom like claim that Manuka honey is like. speaker-0: Yeah. Right. We know that. speaker-1: Okay. Well speaker-0: Really? I think people eat it by like the spoonful if they're sick. speaker-1: How do you know that? speaker-0: That was like a thing. I don't know. speaker-1: What do you mean? Like you never told me that. I hate when this thing happens. Like why is everyone playing mahjong and not tell me? speaker-0: Because this was a while ago, that was like years ago, the honey thing. speaker-1: Okay, I never heard of Manuka honey in my life. So so my mom's like, ⁓ why don't you take some manuka honey and like put it in a tea and like Brah, I was cured. It was crazy. speaker-0: Okay. Did you guess? Amazing. You know a glass of honey if you were at my house, what you would have had C B D honey and you would be sleeping. That's what's happening. speaker-1: What? No, but I couldn't I couldn't. I it dried me up. Like I was I was like sleeping all night the night before and last night I slept because I was dry. speaker-0: Amazing. By the way, I wanna try that for my son 'cause he's been coughing at night. I'm gonna try that 'cause he's been like needing like nebulizers and stuff. I'm gonna try that. speaker-1: Yeah. Also they say like put it on cuts. speaker-0: Okay, that I don't know. speaker-1: I don't know. They said it has antibacterial properties in it. I don't know. But I don't care. If it makes me feel better, I don't care. It worked. ⁓ anything. I still don't feel a hundred percent, but like it definitely got me through the day. It's so annoying that you can't just like lay in bed for eight days when speaker-0: You had the honey just sitting around without knowing what it was? speaker-1: No, I was by my parents' house and my brother and my ⁓ your mother my brother in law's mother bought it when she was in for my mom from New Zealand. Yes, it's native to New Zealand. speaker-0: Mother in law brought it. Yeah. It's probably like a really good Right. Okay, cool. speaker-1: So it's very special, honey. She gave me she had two jars. She gave me one, which was like really special. We have an opening sponsor this week. Our episode is sponsored by Eisenberger Binderger Orthodontics, and we have a fresh brace face here in the Simon House. speaker-0: Like literal fresh, fresh. speaker-1: How was your experience tonight? It was good. It was very ⁓ they said it would take an hour, but it was like fifty minutes, like ten yeah. ⁓ I do feel weird, but they give they give you like a little kit, like of wax, a toothbrush, a carry-on toothbrush, ⁓ speaker-0: You look adorable. What color did you pick? Were you able to pick your color? Adorable. I love it. It matches your uniform. So cute. speaker-1: And yeah, it does feel weird for like a few days. A few days, but you get used to it and you don't feel speaker-0: That makes sense. Were they like gentle with you? Were you nervous? speaker-1: I was nervous but they told me everything was gonna happen. speaker-0: Okay, so they prepared you really well. speaker-1: Yeah. And even Dad left dad left dad Dad left me and he went to Mirka and I was fine. speaker-0: My gosh, okay. Now that's the real review. speaker-1: Right. You said go, I'm having so much fun. Yeah. speaker-0: Did you watch a movie on the ceiling? speaker-1: Yeah, it was cool. speaker-0: All right, that's awesome. speaker-1: Okay, thank you for your review. Everyone call Isenberger Benziger and use code SAGC for a thousand dollars off a complete treatment like braces or invisalign. speaker-0: Awesome. Thank you, EMB. speaker-1: And you get to like it's really cool. Like it doesn't look like rubber bands the racist, but they'll clip it. Like it's really cool until like each racist. I actually really like the color you picked. Thanks. Bye. Bye. speaker-0: I need to tell you like a weird manicure thing and it could really like not be a hack at all. And you guys will tell me, but just like it's new for me, so I'm just gonna pass the info along. I called Jackie like spiraling one of my many spirals from last week about like what manicure should I get. I was not down to get one of my like classic expensive manicures and I just I had like yucky gel on. So Jackie had a really good idea. Just get the gel removed and just have like clean short nails. ⁓ because if I did a manicure, those always chip. So that's what I did. And I was really happy with it. But my nails are really, really soft and messed up from all the gels that I get, right? So I bought this SC gel Let me see what it was called. But anyways, I mean Wah speaker-1: Hard as hoof. Hard as hoof. speaker-0: No, I don't think so. speaker-1: It's like a cuticle cream that like hardens up your nail bed. speaker-0: Okay, no not that. ⁓ one second, I got speaker-1: I love that stuff. Do you like my Medicare? I did it myself. speaker-0: Everyone, yeah. ⁓ it looks great. So, like, this might like be like so everyone knows about this, but I don't get regular manicure, so I'm really not holding this up. Okay, I got the Essie nail care to the rescue UV gel damage repair nail treatment. Okay, but let me tell you, so you just put it on supposed make your nails hard again, but it's literally like no polish polish. speaker-1: Ooh. ⁓ yeah. It's like Shanghai. speaker-0: It looks like just like lip gloss on your nails. Like I can't explain it. I guess like that's what like nail polish is, but it's not clear. It's pink. So like for those girls that are always looking for like the perfect, like light nudie, barely there pink, this is it. Like I it's so good. It's like a tint. Yeah. I did it myself. So I was really proud. speaker-1: ⁓ I like that. And it's like I love that. I'm so proud of you, Broca. I love this for you. I'm all about like not wasting money on your nails, but like having speaker-0: Thank you. 'Cause they looked good. Like this doesn't speaker-1: I'm saying to spend like so much money on a gel for s every whatever weeks and then like if it chips you go back and like I d and then it kills your nails also, like it's speaker-0: But when I do my long nails, they don't chip. That's the thing. ⁓ but when I do regular gels, they do. But this was the only annoying part. I called before and I'm like, How much is it to just get the gel removed? And she said it was five dollars. So it was like like five dollars, and then it went to pay, and they're like, It's twenty because you had a manicure. I'm like, You didn't tell me that was a manicure. I guess like now that I think of it, it really was. Like she literally like gave me a massage and everything, like on my like creams and whatever. But worth it. So that was my nail hack. speaker-1: I love that. I really like that. I was not expecting it today. ⁓ Ruha, I'm having an issue. Horizontal stripes are like very in. Like very, very in. Like everyone has a speaker-0: With what? With the collar specifically, right? speaker-1: And you know Hani Nadboy does not let we're not allowed to wear horizontal stripes. speaker-0: I would say like both well like boomer moms like taught us that. speaker-1: Boomer you cannot wear horizontal stripes. Like it's it's a rule. So like I I like look at these shirts and I was like, I can't buy that one, I can't buy that one, I can't buy that one, I can't get that one. Like I'm just like sitting here and just like Does anyone else n have this rule that you're not allowed to buy horizontal stripes shirts? Or like speaker-0: Think it's time that we just like stop the rule and if you like it, you do it. Like I just bought something that was so comfortable and it was really the least flattering thing and I'm like, yo, I'm comfortable and I don't care if it doesn't look good. speaker-1: I think it's so ingrained in my psyche, like I can't put it on. Like I it's it But you know what I'm really loving those like speaker-0: Maybe try and see. Called like exposure therapy. speaker-1: Yeah, literally. Like touch the striped shirt. Purchase a striped shirt and put it in your closet. I don't think I'm ever gonna wear one. If you see me in a striped shirt, like you know I've done a lot of self of self work. Do you own any? I think you do. speaker-0: Yeah, probably. Yeah, I like the striped. speaker-1: I don't know, to each their own, but if you could wear horizontal stripes, like you're in a different stratosphere. speaker-0: You're in a different tax bracket. So apparently people are still calling it chat GBT. speaker-1: O. speaker-0: Guys, the amount of ⁓ posts that I saw last week that are the eighties trends, like put into Chad GBT, what would it look like in the eighties? Just like we everyone's gonna tell them, right? speaker-1: Yeah. I think it's lazy. speaker-0: You're using chat. They're familiar enough. They got the picture. I was like, is there a copy paste that everyone's doing and that's why I keep seeing the same like GBT? speaker-1: Right. Like you could open it and it's a Well, from a speech pathology perspective, yeah sound and bus sound are come are both plosives. They they're you're produced in the same part of your mouth, just one is voiceless and one is voiced. So they sound very, very similar. speaker-0: I know, but like they never saw it written out chat GPT. I don't know. It's just interesting. speaker-1: I don't know, I'm I'm second hand embarrassed. speaker-0: Like I'm the last one to, you know, to make fun of anyone for mispronouncing something. But like Chad GPT I I saw like five of them. I was really confused. I was like, wait, maybe it maybe I'm the problem. You know? I'm like, Chad, what are you called? I just had to make sure. speaker-1: It's me. I'm the problem. It's me. if they give secondhand embarrassment. You know those videos like comedy people like on Instagram, they make like reels, but they use like ⁓ face, like when they make their face like contorted and they do like speaker-0: Like a like ⁓ a filter, you're saying? speaker-1: Yeah. Unless they'll pretend to be like an old lady or like a baby or like my I Brock, I can't watch them. I can't watch I have like my my sweatshirt over my face watching them. Like speaker-0: I think they're so funny. I mean no, if they do it and it's not funny, then that's bad. But like when they're funny, it's I know, but I really appreciate it because no one, you know no one's really posting ugly like videos of themselves like that. So I I appreciate it. I appreciate what they're doing for the arts and for the laughs. speaker-1: It's like it's like It's like if they were at like one of those like playplaces with the funny mirrors and like they speaker-0: We saw a really peeny one today. Right. ⁓ it's always like the same the same ⁓ filter, yeah. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. It's like your nose is bulging like round, like or like squiggly heads. Like I can't I can't look at them. They're too freaky to me. speaker-0: What do think Yeah, I said. What's worse? That filter or somebody singing like passionately and posting a video? speaker-1: Somebody's singing passionately. I can't it's much worse for me. speaker-0: I have just you really ruined that for me, Jackie. There are so many times I'm like, wait, this might be a beautiful song. Like she might be singing a stunning song right now and I don't know because I'm just thinking of Jackie watching this and I can't unsee it. speaker-1: I'm so I'm so like I really take the fun out of things in life and for that I'm sorry. ⁓ But no, definitely watching people sing is like one of the hardest things for me. That's why I'm so grateful why you that you sent me the recording of you singing audio only and not video so I didn't have to watch it. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, you wouldn't watch that. No, that was just like in the shower, like came to me ⁓ like this good song and I was like voice memo, you know, it wasn't like a real song. speaker-1: I'll tell you what scared me w before I listened to it. W the fact that it was two minutes and forty-two seconds. I was like, that's like a full song. Like I was like, Am I gonna make it all two minutes and forty-two seconds? Like she said it's so vulnerable. Like she sent me this song that she sang in the shower, like speaker-0: What? Because it was like out of the shower, like I'm in the towel, I'm just like quickly singing it. Like it wasn't like Jackie, I recorded the song in like my studio and this is for you. speaker-1: I don't know. Like I've never done that. So like I don't know like what that vibe is. speaker-0: Yeah, no, but I didn't send it, I just sent it to you, so I guess yeah. speaker-1: Okay. Okay. Well it was beautiful. I enjoyed it. I did enjoy it. speaker-0: Thank you. talking about songs, you know lately when I'm like so tired and ⁓ like can't move, my go to like album for the shower is the Gossip Girl soundtrack. It's just like such good throwback songs and such good vibes. And I've been appreciating it. speaker-1: What? I'm so curious what's on that. Okay, I wanna. But I'm so happy we're talking about Spotify playlists because it all started with the Chessie's Chessie's playlist. What was it? Like Chessie's white shirt. Twa t Chessie's denim shirt. Right. There was this TikTok that was going viral that there's this playlist called Chessie's Denim shirt, which is like speaker-0: Go like it, like go look. Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. speaker-1: It was just like the perfect playlist. And I was like, this is so such a good call coded. Like everyone was sending it to us. Like it was so cute. And then I ended up on this algorithm that people are set like recommending playlists. And my I have the f my favorite one that I found. It's called speaker-0: Stop talking. It's doing the thing when it writes everything that I'm saying. Hold on. speaker-1: Every time. Guys, this happens twice a day. speaker-0: Literally our whole episode is in our notes app right now, once I can Okay. Go on, yeah. speaker-1: my favorite playlist that I found. It's called I Found Your iPod Nano. It's everything that like you would have had on your iPod Nano. It's so good. It's amazing. And also there's another one that I just found. speaker-0: Love it. To me. Jackie, while you look for that. Speaking of nine eleven speaker-1: Yeah. We were not speaking about nine eleven. Like at all. Like zero percent. Now one time did we bring it up, like what? That was last week. speaker-0: That's just like speaking of music. Speaking of like old school music that we did you listen to the song? speaker-1: What? Did you just get the terms nine, eleven and music? No. speaker-0: No, no, no, no. In my brain it got mixed up because I was thinking of songs that we used to listen to. I just texted my high school friends. Did you used to listen to that nine eleven song, like the heaven? Like, it's been a year, Daddy. Like Okay. Yeah. Like I still I ate your favorite dinner. Like Okay. I know. And I couldn't find it. Like I was like looking on nine eleven. I'm like, ⁓ I'm gonna listen to that song. And I couldn't find it. speaker-1: Yes. God bleed I just got a pit. ⁓ my god. speaker-0: And then I was able to find it like on Google, whatever. And then I was playing it and Zev was like, Brah, shut that off. Like that's literally the most horrible song. Like, what is the point of this? Like this is my nozev, we listen to the song every Yes. In middle school, we listen to it every single day. He's like it and as a parent hearing that song, ⁓ my gosh. Like I I was like, No no no. speaker-1: Yeah, he's like That's crazy. That's crazy. speaker-0: I know. Okay, did you find your playlist though? Speaking of nine eleven ⁓ my gosh. speaker-1: You have nine eleven. Hold on. So now I keep hold on one second. Now I started saving them. Hold on. I just found one of the best playlists ever. I didn't I didn't check it yet, but it's called Cigarette Mom. Which is like, you know how all the songs in like the nineties sound like like a ma a woman who's like divor attendants and like wants to get divorced from her husband. Like speaker-0: Divorce. You were like in the car with your like sing newly divorced mom, like recalling the best songs. speaker-1: Let's go, girls. Yeah. ⁓ it's so fun. Like I'm on I saved so many of her videos now just to like have good playlist recommendations. I will. speaker-0: Okay, send it to me. ⁓ I'm interested in signing up for a parenting course. But here's my the thing, guys. I I was thinking I want a Jewish one, right? 'Cause that makes sense. But I find like a lot of the Jewish ones are just like so haredi and like just not so relatable to me. and I wanna know what's out there. So if you guys have any racks, I would like speaker-1: Yes. I don't think I have some recs for you as well. but yeah, I'm curious what the g also like I've asked this is like my favorite question. I like I'm shocked that like your cousin Beth doesn't like, ugh, Jackie's coming. I have to get all my answers ready. Like there's like there's like ⁓ a bunch of women like maybe like five years older than me. I don't know, maybe more, but they don't seem older than me. But like I just go to them with every single question I have. And like I just assume they know the answers to everything 'cause like a little bit older than mine. And like they give me recommendations for parenting courses, for anything. Like literally everything. I'm like always asking them stuff. So speaker-0: They wouldn't know that. Okay, my friend just told me that she took a parenting course. Like elemental? I'm like, what does that mean? I thought it was a typo. Like the movie. I'm like, like the movie? She didn't even you know the movie elemental is like Disney with like a fire and the water. And I think like it's a course on how every person is like different. Like some people are fire water. and how to parent when you have different speaker-1: I'd never heard of it. Yeah. speaker-0: Type. But I could just use a regular plane jingle. speaker-1: Tell you, I tell you this all the time. I feel like I've said this a thousand times on the podcast. It doesn't matter which method you're using for parenting, but to have a method is just makes it so much easier. It's not easy. It's not easy, but I'm saying like. speaker-0: I don't know where to I don't know where to start. speaker-1: I know having a framework to to like plug everything into just makes it like much more like manageable to figure out, which is like it's an impossible task as it is. I have no idea what I'm doing. And I've taken a bunch of courses. But I'm just saying like when something comes up and you've it does like you could handle something so different than like I would handle something or like, you know, and it's fine as long as you like have a way that you're doing it. That's what I thought. Also, something I noticed, which is so weird because I wrote this in my notes app, that like so many times I was like a lot when I'm talking to Bracha on the phone, I'll like recap a conversation I had and then I'll tell her like my perspective on it. And she's like, ⁓ did you tell them that? And I'm like, No. And Bracha's like, Why wouldn't you say that? Like, if you're in a conversation, you have something to contribute, why didn't you like she gets annoyed at me? Like, why do you No, you don't even speaker-0: usually say your perspective 'cause then I wouldn't even think y you'll say like this and this happened and then I would say, what did you say back? Like what did you do? And then you'd be like, Nothing. Meaning, I don't think if you said to me and I feel an I don't think you would I would think to question. I would assume that you said something. speaker-1: That that's right. What I feel like I would say to you, like, and I was thinking la la la la la about this, but I didn't say anything. Yeah. I don't say anything. And Bracha freaks out. She's like, Jackie, I don't get why you do this. Turns out we we we we uncovered in therapy that this is like a deeper rooted thing that I do. ⁓ but more speaker-0: Yeah, I don't you don't say anything. So cool when you figure these things out. speaker-1: Yeah, but it's so funny because like you've been calling me out on this and like I don't like it's not something that ever bothered me. Like I don't speaker-0: I wanna be more clear about it because I feel like we're making it sound like I'm saying that let's say someone did something to Jackie and it like wasn't ice and I'll like, what did you say back? It's not that. It's Jackie's Jackie Jackie's having a conversation with somebody and she knows that they're talking about something completely different. And the point that you're making is speaker-1: Indeed. speaker-0: that the sky is blue and they're talking about something completely different and like you're not saying, ⁓ no, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about that it's that it's blue. So maybe if they knew that you were talking about the that the sky was blue, then they would say, ⁓ yeah, you're right. But you're just not saying anything. So it's a crazy conversation and I don't know why you're not s like speaking up. speaker-1: Yeah, and I just like I just like let it happen. Like I just let the conversation go and I don't say my piece. speaker-0: And you'd be like, Well, because they didn't ask. They didn't say to me, Are you think are you talking about the sky being blue right now? Like speaker-1: So crazy. I didn't realize I do this. First of all, it's so weird because I didn't realize I do this. Like, first, it's so not something that bothers me. I'm just like, okay, like that's what they think. Like, I don't think that same thing, but that's fine. Like, I don't need to say what I'm I know. I don't realize. I really braca, I promise you, I don't realize that I'm doing this. No, I know you like when you were calling me out, I don't even know, like. speaker-0: It's really crazy. You don't, it's crazy. speaker-1: When you're calling me out and you're saying, like, why didn't you say something? I'm like, ⁓ should I have said like it's not even like, ⁓ I was holding back. Like, I'm not holding back. I just don't feel it applies. ⁓ So that speaker-0: Right. an example but like not even every single time that we have an episode before we record Jackie's like Braca are you ready do you have your dedication like that's that's the behind the scenes every single week and there are some times where I I don't but instead of Jackie instead of Jackie asking five seconds before we record if you never thought to do it that morning and be like Bracha do you have it speaker-1: I think that's a totally different scenario. That's a totally different scenario because that's me taking on your responsibility. speaker-0: Okay. That's just like you're asking you're asking me five seconds before why can't you ask me the morning before? Not did can I do it for you? speaker-1: Give you a better example of something. Like, let's say someone comes up to me and they're like, I know I know Joe from from camp. And I'll be like, ⁓ that's so nice. I won't say that I also know Joe. Like that's an example of something I I won't tell you my my connection to this thing. And you're like, why didn't you share that? And I'm like, I'm not. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. Probably both have some like deep emotional things to delve into. speaker-0: Yeah, like he could be in a meal and they're like talking about someone and like he won't be like, Yeah, I was in ⁓ a Khabura with that rabbi for five years. speaker-1: I always always like I'm never I'm never like speaker-0: They were just talking about this rabbi the whole time and he didn't say it like I know him like very well. speaker-1: I think it like I think also in my head it's a power move. Like I have information that I'm not gonna share with you. Like I don't know why I do that, but I do. speaker-0: My god. speaker-1: Also, by the way, as like I I spoke to Daniel about it also 'cause like Daniel's like what like what is that? He can't imagine not saying every single thought that comes into his mouth into his head after that. speaker-0: Wheel of Boda, it's like a superpower god to do it. speaker-1: Exactly. He's like, I don't understand like how you could not say like I'm like I'm not actively not saying it. Like I'm just like it's I don't feel the need. Like it's so weird. Just something weird about me. speaker-0: Yeah. And it's really cool to discover things about yourself. speaker-1: Yeah, but it's funny that like for forever Brachha freaks out every time I tell her story and she's like, Why don't you say anything? I'm like, I don't know. Like I just don't want to. speaker-0: Sometimes it's really crazy. speaker-1: I also want to give a shout out to the flex parents. I want to say that like in parenting and pajamas culture, or just parenting culture in general, if you're a couple, there's one parent that needs to be flexible. Like you need someone in the household, an adult in the household to be flexible. and this month is like flex parent month because like literally every week is like half day, no school, ⁓ study schedule, like every day is like a different story. So like Yeah, yeah, flex adult, whoever's watching the kids. ⁓ but or like flex babysitter month even like my babysitter. But it's just like I'm not the flexible parent. speaker-0: Right. Ex grandma. Grandparent. Big flash. speaker-1: in my household. So like it doesn't I mean it impacts me in other ways. Like I have to come home to like chaos ninety percent of the time. But like I'm not adjusting my schedule every week. But like it's a really rough month for the flexible parents. speaker-0: Yeah, see that's why speaker-1: And grandparents. speaker-0: When I came out of here and you're like, It's too much, Braca. Like it's not. It's not my fault. speaker-1: It's Flex Parent Month. speaker-0: It's just like that time of year. speaker-1: Yeah, we'll get through it. We always do. speaker-0: I just need black tights and boots. And I'll be better. I'll be cured. I didn't tell you what I did last night. ⁓ Margot years ago, we went to one of Zev's students' ho like ⁓ we went to their house. They were having a party and there was a little girl there and she gave a bear to Marg. Margot was was ⁓ speaker-1: ⁓ God. ⁓ God. You didn't. What'd you do last year? speaker-0: Really young. And this girl gave her a bear. And her the girl's name was Katie. And we named the bear Katie Bear. And that was Margot's stuffed animal when she was younger. That's so cute. Somewhere along the way we lost her. And like Zeb was always just like, Where is Katie Bear? Like always trying to find her. But Margot didn't seem like too bothered. Like just we lost her and that, you know, that was it. ⁓ but Zeb and I like We'll randomly see a picture and be like, Katie Bear, like where is she? Katie Bear, like hope you're well, like wherever you are. But Margot saw a picture of Katie Bear yesterday and she felt so emotionally attached. Like, I mean, I need her back. Like, where is she? Like, where did we lose her? Where is she? Like, I need her. And there's nothing I love more than like a foot fixation. Like, yeah, like, okay. I tried chat, Google image searches, like I was finding old pictures that I had of Katie Bear, could not find her. Like chat was really, really not helpful. Google was not helpful. I asked chat to give me a list of every single brand that has ever made a stuffed animal before. And I remember the tag, it didn't have like one of those like classic brands, but it had two names, like something and something. speaker-1: That's insane. speaker-0: And I was able to narrow the list based on like two names and I I found it. I found the doll. There's one on eBay. I did not find it anywhere else, like online anywhere. One on eBay and I ordered it. speaker-1: Was it a billion dollars or speaker-0: No, it was twenty dollars. speaker-1: We found bear. speaker-0: I found Katy Bear. I don't know, Katy Bear has a bow in her ear. Apparently, like no bow no bears have bows in their ears. Like they all have them on their neck. speaker-1: Well then how are they gonna hear if they have a bow in their ear? speaker-0: Well, Katie Bear, she here, so worry. So I found I'll let you guys know if I get her, but like I I went down the rabbit hole. It was really like in the beginning I'm like speaker-1: Successful rabbit hole. speaker-0: I was ready to give up and then I was like, What that name sounds familiar and I somehow you know what helped me actually? Not chat, like Google AI. ⁓ speaker-1: Gemini. speaker-0: Is that what it is? Once I have ⁓ the the company, like the two names, I was able to get it from there. speaker-1: I can't wait to see what Katie Bear looks like. Katie Bear is such a good name. speaker-0: Katie Rare. Yeah. speaker-1: Did you have like names for your animals when you were a kid? speaker-0: I did. Here's Margot with Katie Bear. speaker-1: ⁓ Katie Bear's so cute. I love her bow. Bow's velvet. I thought it was like printed on. speaker-0: Yes. No, it's satin and this is the one I just bought. So she better she better use this doll. Like I don't think she will. But I was like, ⁓ well. Yeah, you're only a little girl once, you know? speaker-1: ⁓ she's so fancy. I don't know. Sometimes we still act like little girls. speaker-0: But it wouldn't be like socially accessible for you to like go track down your childhood bear and like Or maybe it would be, but like this is the time. Like enjoy your katy bear now. speaker-1: Sure. Katie Bear for life. Were you one of those girls who like had a blinky? speaker-0: Yeah. Wow. Let me tell you the answer to this. I didn't have a blinky. This is embarrassing. I had a boppy. Like, you know those pillows? speaker-1: Like a nursey pillow. speaker-0: A nursing pillow, literally a nursing pillow. I had to say that. Listen, I had that pillow underneath my tube. Every single night of my life I slept with the pillow, but I had that boppy underneath my pillow. speaker-1: It's not small. speaker-0: What? It was flat. It was flat. speaker-1: It's huge. My Bobby is gigantic. speaker-0: Okay, yeah, it was not puffy, it was not huge, it was flat, like a pancake, but in that shape, and it was so comfortable. I would put it underneath my pillow. I slept like that my entire life, but also didn't know. Like it wasn't like my baby, like never spoke about it. It was just there. Like speaker-1: Probably just never moved it. speaker-0: Okay, like I d okay, then got married, moved to Israel. speaker-1: Wait, stop, pause, pause, pause. Did you take it to seaway camp? Is my first question. speaker-0: ⁓ I don't remember. I don't remember. It's a good question. speaker-1: Did you pack it in your trunk? Was it like an important thing that you had to bring with you? And did you bring it to sleepovers? Like did you bring it speaker-0: No no no, I I probably brought it to camp and I didn't bring it to a sleepover. No. And maybe I didn't even bring it to camp. I don't know. speaker-1: Okay. Did you bring a semi? I've never seen that. But you could have hit it very well. I wasn't going speaker-0: Have it in Sam? Something I like hiding. It wasn't like, I'm happy like no, it was it wasn't like that. But when I got married, I brought it with me to Israel and then it started losing its stuffing. speaker-1: Well, it was flat, so I don't know what speaker-0: No, there was still stuffing in it, but it was flat. Like it got holes in it. And then Zev was like, Ewbraha, like do you still need this? And like I think he pressured me to throw it out. Like I was like, No, I don't need it. It's gross. Like we can throw it out. And like literally after I had babies and ha like had a bobby for a nursing pill, I'm like, my it came back to me like my bobby. I'm like, Zev, you made me throw it out. I was like, I didn't make you throw out anything. Like you really did, and I was missing it. speaker-1: Like ⁓ speaker-0: I was feeling like why'd you tell me to throw it out? He's like it was like had holes in it. speaker-1: Wait, what color was it? speaker-0: It was like think of like nine think of like nineties like floral grand millennial floral type, you know? It was like that. speaker-1: Yeah, like. A little bit of turquoise in there. speaker-0: Neby was very fetish. speaker-1: Do have pictures of Bopy? speaker-0: I don't think so, said speaker-1: Wow. speaker-0: And I can't even go down that rabbit hole. speaker-1: You'd think I wouldn't discover anything new after all this time about you, but that is not something I ever know about you. speaker-0: I know. What about you? speaker-1: Do you wanna ask me if I've had one? speaker-0: I'm trying to think if I know if you did. speaker-1: You wouldn't know. It didn't last that long. speaker-0: Ariella would know. Ariella tell me. speaker-1: Should I call Ariella and ask her? speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: She's gonna freak out. She has like back to school night or something. speaker-0: You're on re library You're on readers. Hey. speaker-1: Yeah. You're live on such a good call. speaker-0: Hi, Riella. Hi Rella. speaker-1: No Wait, do you remember what like the sex calling you so late? The stuffed animal I used to sleep with. Yes. What was its name? What did it look like? speaker-0: I thought there was like something wrong. I was like why should Yes. ⁓ shit. Give me the first letter. I it wait. Shoot. You got this, you got this. Don't worry. No, I don't. I really don't. So recovering from bar mitzvah yunten. speaker-1: New. What animal do you think it was? It was a dog, of course. speaker-0: It was a dog. Okay, that really counts. speaker-1: Did it was it ear what's its ears up or down? speaker-0: My God, shoot, what is it? What's the second letter? speaker-1: No, you're cheating! speaker-0: It was called puppy. No it wasn't. No, I'm joking. Mom mommy so embarrassing for me. speaker-1: I'm gonna have to call I'm gonna have to call Joanna next. speaker-0: Shoo, can you please give me the second letter? speaker-1: P E speaker-0: Happy. No ⁓ ping up the phone and then I'm gonna remember. speaker-1: Okay. Hang up the phone and then if you remember call me back. speaker-0: ⁓ Jackie, I'm so sorry. I feel like such a disappointment. speaker-1: You're not a disappointment. We love you. Okay. Pepper. Pepper. My dog's pepper. And it was a ter it was like a That's cute. It's like a terrier, but it was like black. It was like had like pointy like triangle ears. speaker-0: I got it. Wait, I need to show you this. speaker-1: It was a T Y. But it was flat. It was also like flat. Like I brought I brought pepper to camp with me. I forgot about pepper. I threw pepper out for sure. I throw everything out, like but ⁓ it's okay. speaker-0: When was the last time you saw Pepper? Like I literally was married with that pillow and speaker-1: And mine was pepper, but I think I forced it. Like I don't think I was actually attached to it. Like I just like wanted to be part of something. Like you know, like I didn't actually care about pepper. Like I just like you know, all everyone had their doll and I was like ⁓ I speaker-0: But to have a kid that's like attached is it's scary. Like you need to really look online and order a million backups because and like they'll know the difference. But I will tell you this one of my hyper fixations was when my son was born, like designing his like baby blanket. I ⁓ had his name on it and I made ⁓ like the dancing bears, like Grateful Dad Dancing Bears, and I spent a lot of time like designing it. And he's very attached to that blanket. And every time I'm just like, Isla, you love it? I did good. Like I'm so happy that you appreciate it because I worked so hard and I was so annoying about that link. speaker-1: I really hear that. yeah, so that means Margot must appreciate Katie Bear. No. Katie Bear. speaker-0: She literally better I don't think she will, but like Katie better like she better go with her to camp and like her her bachelorette and her wedding, you know. speaker-1: feel like everyone has like a story. Like I know my oldest sister, like she had her Elmo and like she went everywhere with her Elmo and like could not not be with Elmo. And one day like we lost my parents lost Elmo. They couldn't find Elmo. So they like went to the store, bought a new Elmo, put it in the washing machine, like got it dirty, like, you know, did the whole thing to make it look like Elmo and like she took one look at it and screamed. Like that's enough. speaker-0: Like I can never be a parent that has a kid that's like attached. Like it's too big of responsibility. Like I will lose it. Like we lose Katie Bird thing, you know? speaker-1: Yeah. ⁓ I just texted Arielle, I like, You have to tell me what it is. I was like, It's pepper. She's like, now I remember it was black and curly. I'm like, Yes, at least I remembered something. I know, I have a friend. I'm not gonna call her out by name, but like she was a blanky girl and like like you like the pieces of the blinky were like speaker-0: Disensurating. speaker-1: Yeah, and like they would go everywhere with her. Like I think like it was really gross. Like it was disgusting. Like you Yeah, it's like little strings, like speaker-0: He still has it. No, like it's still in her bed right now. Like speaker-1: Thousand percent, a thousand percent. And like she's married with kids, but like she is the blinky girl and like she would not go anywhere without Blinky, like speaker-0: I like kind of was jealous of those people. Like I thought it was cool that they had that. It was like wanting glasses and like racist and like wanting a s like a stuffy that like you are attached to. speaker-1: That's why I got Yeah. Yeah. So we had like weird things like pepper and abatti, but like the normal g normal girls have blankets. speaker-0: Yeah. But I wasn't emotionally attached to mine. It was just there. speaker-1: Me ne me neither. But I need to find a picture of Pepper because you know how they had like regular size TYs and then they had like the bigger, like the size up. They were like a little bit bigger. So like t Pepper was like a little bit bigger. ⁓ but like I like I've never seen anyone else with pepper before. speaker-0: Now I've like you're gonna have to go down the rabbit hole. ⁓ speaker-1: ⁓ my god, is that why I got it? My dad's childhood dog was named Pepper. Yeah. ⁓ Probably my dad took me to the store and I saw or my mom and I I saw Pepper and I was like, ⁓ dad's dog is pepper. I want to get pepper. But it wasn't the same kind of dog. but it was the same name. speaker-0: Yeah. my gosh. How did we get here? speaker-1: How'd we get here? How do we get out? That was not on my list. speaker-0: It was on mine. Katie Bear. This week's episode is sponsored by Sheer Custom Wigs. Jackie and I recently went in and had such an amazing experience. Thanks, Zoe Rose. I'd like to share that I have had my first Mahjong win. I've been mahjong a lot recently. And one time I had like a fake win, but like I used a joker and a pair, and you're not allowed to do that. So I just speaker-0: Call them up. Had that too. speaker-1: It's so annoying. I'm like, ⁓ I really was so excited. ⁓ but they had like a really beautiful mahjong. Like it was it was such a nice. Yeah, it was like ones and twos and threes. Like it was so pretty. And it felt so good to win. And you know what? Like, I'm starting to like get the game a little better. Like, meaning I can't I can't play like defensively yet, but like I'm starting to like figure out like how my therapist calls like massage the muscles is what he's saying. yeah and I'm really happy that I had my first mahjong win. And also I taught my I didn't do my mom taught my daughter so she plays she is so funny Braca like she was playing with me and my friends like she was playing like on her own like it was her and me and two friends. And like she was like hold speaker-0: That's great. Yeah. speaker-1: Am I gonna fall like like she was literally like like my friends were cracking up from her. Like she was just like owning it. Like I have no idea what she was doing, if she was doing it right, but like she was just like going for it and like speaker-0: No, that's amazing. I was playing Shabbos with Margot and my mom and Margot in the middle is like Sassy. I think she c has a concealed hands and she's doing the wrong thing. speaker-1: ⁓ my gosh. speaker-0: ⁓ is that what the C like she was right? And I was just like, you know what? I don't know if this game is for me, but I don't know if it's just because I never was properly properly taught or like I'm just too much. speaker-1: I honestly like am shocked that you play. Like it it like it's a lot. speaker-0: Like yeah, once I know and like picking the hands is just so stressful. And then once you have your hand it's fun, but there's too many rules that I don't know about. speaker-1: There's too many rules and also like this time like I had a good option for a hand and then I switched it in the middle 'cause I thought everyone else was going for it. Messed me over, but I had to learn that lesson. Do you know what I'm saying? Like I had to speaker-0: Yeah. And then part of it is like having to like figure out what everyone else is going for, but I'm too focused on like what I need. It's speaker-1: Same. Like I'm trying to do that, but I'm not ready. I'm not ready to like think about what anyone else has yet. But it but I needed to learn that lesson the hard way by like really I'm also in a really messed up algorithm. I don't know how I got here, but my Facebook marketplace is all vintage dollhouse furniture. And like I keep thinking, it's like classic me. Like I keep thinking like, ⁓ my god, that chair's so achieving. speaker-0: I think that's fine. You're you know. ⁓ no. Red rind, so cheap. speaker-1: I should get it then it think I'm What? What like and then I think about the people who are probably buying this and then I get really freaked out. Like who is buying and then ugh Bruja and then I got on Reborn Baby again and I I it's so scary. Like I need to get out of speaker-0: No, that's terrible. If like everything that I decorated isn't my taste anymore and I have a new aesthetic. speaker-1: Unless you're a millionaire, I don't know what you do for that. By the way, I hear that. I hear that. Think about everyone in like the nineties who did their kitchens with like red and like chickens and you know speaker-0: Yeah. I try that. There were so many different themes that people had. Like I once saw a video on that. It was really funny. No, but I it's just like not my vibe anymore. speaker-1: Yeah. Like browns and like v like ⁓ like all those vegetables. Like it was like such a it time for design, but like they thought they were being so cool and modern and now like now what? speaker-0: Yeah. Okay, but I'm not talking about like now. This is like two years later, you know? This isn't like how is evolving, you know. There are certain things that like I that are very me that like I liked then and I'll like now, but Yeah. I think I could fix things around in like a kn in a I don't know. speaker-1: I don't know. Like you could like paint your own whole house or something. speaker-0: Painting anything. speaker-1: No, by yourself, I'm saying. Do you know I painted my kids' rooms? When I was ⁓ It was twenty twenty and like I couldn't get a painter to come, so I was like, I'll just do it. But I was like six months pregnant. So it probably wasn't a good idea. But I did. speaker-0: That's so good. fun. Zeb and I always say like we used to like run all those like class admission trips. You know, like building houses like hello. Why can't we do this in our own house? speaker-1: Yeah. ⁓ It's such that's so true. I want to tell you one thing. I listened to Sand Sandra Bullock on Amy Puller's podcast. speaker-0: I keep seeing clips of it. speaker-1: I wanna say I had a babysitter once who was named Sandra. Like not Sandra. It was Sandra. And like to this day I don't know which Yeah, I don't know which way is the right way to pronounce Sandra. speaker-0: I mean you're asking me, like I'm speaker-1: Okay, well it doesn't matter 'cause they call her Sandy. Who knew? Her name like e like they're like Sandy like everyone's calling her Sandy. speaker-0: It's so cute. That's so cute. speaker-1: I I'm so upset. Like and you know what? The whole episode, first of all, it was phenomenal podcast. It was such a good time. Good hang. She is living up to her Emmy win. ⁓ for best podcast. But sh like, first of all, it reminded me that Sandy Bullock, Bullock, Bullock, I feel like I'm not pronouncing it right. Sandy Sandy speaker-0: Yeah it sounds like. speaker-1: Book. It's not right. It's not sitting well. I don't like it. she is s like such a core part of our like growing up. And like who would I be without Miss Congeniality? I have no Miss Congeniality is like up there with like movies that raise me with like grease and like really core speaker-0: I don't know. Divers app. No movies were iconic. speaker-1: Horror movies that raised me. I one of the best movies I I could always watch Miss Congenia. speaker-0: Wait, Jackie, what is she promoting now? speaker-1: Okay, so that's a really good question because I'm actually not sure. It's something with the Cole Kidman and Witches, but they're like reviving it. I don't know what it is. speaker-0: And I'm like excited for that 'cause like I love spooky season. ⁓ speaker-1: Yeah, that's good. ⁓ but like speaker-0: Did you see her on Jake Shane's podcast? speaker-1: I didn't see it, but I've seen clips. speaker-0: So like I need you to watch it because people are like, She hates her. Like Yeah, but I don't know. I have to watch speaker-1: She has not gotten that. Definitely there's such different vibes. Like speaker-0: She has kept like making fun of her, but I wasn't sure if it was in the way that like we make fun of each other and it's not coming from a place of hating each other. It's 'cause like we can. speaker-1: You probab I would probably have to watch the whole episode to get the real feel. Yeah. But ⁓ I'm I didn't realize, like I didn't know her real personality. Like I know her as an actress and she's so funny and she's so beautiful and like all these things, but like she's hysterical. She was cracking so quick. Like her humor is so quick. She's so and I'm just like speaker-0: She speaker-1: You're not allowed to be that beautiful and that funny. Like you have to pick a lane. Like I was shocked by how I was literally cracking up the whole time. speaker-0: Yeah, the little clips that I saw were so good. speaker-1: She's so funny. It was it was really, really s like such a good feel, like great podcast. And something about Amy Polar is that she's obsessed with sleep. And like that's her, she's always asking, like, what times you go to bed? Like, what's your night routine like? Like, ⁓ and she I actually watched also after that, ⁓ her live show. And she's like, I made it at six o'clock so everyone can get in bed by 8 30. Like she's like speaker-0: For me to watch it. speaker-1: So cute. So funny about her sleep. And she's like just always a asking everyone about their sleep schedules and when they go to sleep and when they wake up and like what they do to fall asleep and like if they put their phone in their room. Like it's just so interesting to hear what people do and don't do. But she very much values sleep. And in my adulthood it's really nice to hear people like saying like sleep is gotta sleep, you know, because I do need to sleep and it's so good to hear her say that. speaker-0: You're into your nighttime routine and going to sleep. speaker-1: Really I have to. I don't I it's so funny. I was just talking to my sister about this because I'm like, you'd think like I've been working in the same s place for eleven this is my eleventh year. you'd think by now, like I'd be a morning person. Like my job starts very early in the morning. I have to leave my house very early in the morning. Like you'd think like, okay, I didn't grow up as a morning person, but like I've been doing this for eleven years. Like I'm a morning person now. No. Never speaker-0: Wow. Well and Jackie, I was thinking of you today because I became a carpool mom and I have carpool with ⁓ my daughter and two middle school boys. speaker-1: Mm-hmm. speaker-0: And I'm just like not a morning person. speaker-1: Right. Like are they expecting you to like engage with them at seven? speaker-0: So I feel like they appreciate that I'm just not gonna talk to them, you know? speaker-1: Yeah, like I first of all, that I actually did one year where I was carpoing with someone and like she's a very nice girl and like I but it was too hard for me. Like I can't have someone in the car with me that early in the morning. Like I need to be on my own. Like I don't wanna look at anyone, I don't wanna talk to anyone, I don't wanna feel like I need to accommodate someone else's needs. Like, is it too hot? Is it too cold? You know, like speaker-0: But I still have to get used to it. Like just people in my car and music and just everything. speaker-1: It just Yeah, it's it's not easy. When people tell me that they like drive kids to and from school because they like work at the school, I was like, Wow, that is like the biggest hussad because like I would not be able to do that. speaker-0: No, that time is important. Prime time. speaker-1: Everything, it's everything. But I'm not a morning person, so I need my nights to go smooth in order to function during the day. I just speaker-0: Wanna say that branding and marketing, the way I talk about food for my kids is so important and I need to work on it more. I'm learning this now. An example is ⁓ Marco, I don't know, just decided that she doesn't eat certain foods and it's literally all proteins. Like, I don't have eggs, I don't have cheese, I don't have yogurt. It's like I don't eat that. Like I don't, I don't eat whatever, right? so if I say to her, Do you want yogurt for breakfast? No, I don't eat yogurt. But if I say to her, Do you want a parfait? Then she does. So like now it's no longer do you want yogurt? It's like, Do you want a parfait? No one tells her it's yogurt with like fruit and granola. But I have to like get more creative and find different ways that I can do that with everything. speaker-1: It's the same thing, right. I wanna tell you also, like if you take it out of a tin and put it on a plate, sometimes they'll eat it. speaker-0: Right. The presentation's important. speaker-1: And I'm terr I'm horrible at this. Like really bad. Like I'm the worst. I can't think creatively when it comes to food. but you're right, it does make a humongous difference. speaker-0: Yeah, I just noticed it with the yogurt that she was like so excited about the parve, but like won't she won't eat speaker-1: Also, I just want to say for the new fruit, like obviously like all my kids are so brave. They try everything and like they're like mommy, you try I'm like no speaker-0: I need to tell you about mine, yeah. speaker-1: I like licked it and I was like, Okay, like I'm the I'm the biggest baby of them all. Like, they don't know that about me, but like I'm the pickiest worst eater. speaker-0: Literally you are. ⁓ but Jackie, I had a new fruit this year that I don't know why it's not like a mainstream fruit. It was so good. I need to ask chat what it was called. speaker-1: Mine's a star fruit every year, except for this year. I couldn't mine's always a star fruit. speaker-0: Yeah, star fruit. This was like it it looked like a mango, but it was like a custardy texture. You wouldn't hate it, but it was actually really good. Like I was like, I want more. Like it was so good. So I was here for it. Like I wanna buy it for during the year. speaker-1: And your dad probably got it at Cross Island Fruits. speaker-0: Yeah, he probably he got he got also this was from like a normal supermarket. Black tomatoes, like black cherry tomatoes. ⁓ my the inside are purple. ⁓ right, sorry. speaker-1: I can't think of something worse. Like I can't so deadly. I actually can't think this is like my version of Gehenam. Like don't don't even talk to me about it. speaker-0: It's just like rolled backwards like I forgot. Sorry, forgive me. speaker-1: Yep. speaker-0: Well, Pepper. speaker-1: Well, Pepper Pepper and Bobby. speaker-0: ⁓ Jaffy. speaker-1: BB, Jaffy, Pepper and Bobby. speaker-0: whole gang's here. Well, Jackie, this was so much fun. speaker-1: Do this again sometime. I hope everyone had a beautiful Rash Hashanah and ⁓ meaningful Yom Kippur coming up. I hope you guys can all mohel us if we ever did or said something that hurt you. And that's her a Gumar Khasi Matova. speaker-0: Bye Gwiggies. Ashraino.
