speaker-0: And I felt speaker-1: That was important. Yeah, pretty much. In my head it it was. In my head, speaker-0: Such a blonde. All blondes think that blonde is better. speaker-1: I was but all blondes tell other blondes that it's better. Like you're indoctrinated into this lifestyle this. speaker-0: Hello, hello, welcome back to catching up with Liz and Evie. speaker-1: Welcome back. It's so nice to have you here. Episode fourteen and we are current. What does that mean? speaker-0: Episode 14, we are on track. We recorded a bunch of episodes before we released any, and then we've just been continuing to record as we release. And Evie's been releasing double time baby. So now we are like speaker-1: We're live. Now we're live. speaker-0: A week from today. We're recording on Thursday. It's gonna come out Thursday. Or so is the plan as of now, which is great. speaker-1: That's right. Which is great. And I will s and I think that's actually so much easier. I think having that backlog was like ⁓ somehow making a bottleneck. I don't know why, because we were having I was having them ready, but it was like there's always another one to edit. So it like never ended in a way. So anyway, very happy. I agree. It's very fun. And I trust us 'cause obviously we're professionals now. speaker-0: Focus on the one at a time. I agree. Good shit, good shit. Yes. How's ⁓ how's Puerto Rico? Because I have bad updates about New Jersey. I leave with the bad. We speaker-1: ⁓ my god. I'm Should I bad. Let's sit with the bad. speaker-0: Here in New Jersey, one, it's smoky from wildfires in Canada. Like genuinely, I went to shop right. From the time I was in the parking lot, granted I'm in the parking lot for a little a little while because I'm putting Rio in a carrier. But from parking lot to inside the store, I like feel my throat getting itchy. It like doesn't even look hazy. It looks smoky and it smells smoky. It's bad. speaker-1: ⁓ gosh. speaker-0: And that's gonna be like this for a little while. So why is that bad? A, you don't wanna be outside. It like you feel it. B, I'm like so worried about bringing Rio anywhere. Yeah. speaker-1: These little newborn lungs. Not newborn, but they're new. speaker-0: So and like he needs to be out of the house. So I'm like, okay, grocery store, library, parents' house. Like I guess I have to bring him to the pool, the indoor pool. More. But yeah, it's like only indoor activities. And what's also bad is the weather itself, it was really hot for like two days, but now it's like a nice temperature. It's like high of like eighty two and That's kind of a nice temperature. You want to be outside. You want to go on long walks, but that's bad. Okay. speaker-1: doing summertime activities, but you cannot. speaker-0: You cannot. That's number one that's bad. Number two that's bad is there's this freaking like What's it called? A bug, a virus? It's not that either bacteria. Yes. I'm just saying words. It starts the name of it starts with a C. I don't know what it's called. speaker-1: Yeah. Go plaza? Okay. speaker-0: The cytoclasmic smell. it's in all of the good foods. Yeah. So like I'm like, apples? Let me not eat that. It's called Cyclospora. Okay. And it also makes you go to the bathroom. We were literally just talking about like budget cuts and how it's affected. And here's another one. They're not checking for this anymore, and now there's a massive outbreak. So speaker-1: But it's the the lettuce, right? ⁓ You go to the bathroom? speaker-0: Those are two bad things. speaker-1: What a shitty situation. speaker-0: I hope life is better in Puerto Rico. speaker-1: ⁓ Liz. You're like, I'm not bitter at all. life I'm not I have a good speaker-0: But it's like think your consciousness. ⁓ speaker-1: No, that sounds so shitty. Like pun intended and also just like that's really that really does suck. ⁓ I hate to hear it, you know? It's like one of those things too. It's like whenever I talk about coming home for this or that reason, like someone tells me, Don't, it floods now where you live. Don't, there's this, don't, there's that speaker-0: Shit. Yeah, we also have crazy storms. speaker-1: I know. Any other NJ updates? speaker-0: ⁓ I have good updates if you want to hear those. I have updates. Okay, update number one. My older sister, Marie, who lives in Lebanon, is here for like almost two weeks. And it is so happy and nice and great to have her here. And ⁓ unfortunately it's just her, not the my nieces, not my her three kids. ⁓ she's here for her friend's wedding. But speaker-1: And I wanna hear some good ups. Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah, it's just been really nice. speaker-1: In some ways that is it's obviously sad, but at least you get her all yourself. speaker-0: We we have been having good quality time. ⁓ like yeah, like no k I mean Rio is sometimes there, but like otherwise no kids. And it's like you do get good quality time. speaker-1: That's so sweet. There's nothing makes me happier than you get you and re getting quality time. speaker-0: This. Like anyone who has sisters, you just know. Like sister time is very needed. And when you have a sister that lives abroad, you don't get that always. And like you're reliant on FaceTimes and whatever, which is good, but there's like nothing like it in person. It's like we just want every second together. So that's been really nice. speaker-1: Yeah. That could make me cry right here. speaker-0: Hm. You can cry. What's happening in tears? And other updates, my back has been really bugging me. I don't know why it's my back to the bad. My this one has a slightly more positive ending. Like I still feel it, but it's better. My theory is that I had wasn't I wasn't really working out that much and then my one hip got so tight and then I was like stretching it a lot and it helped because then my hip isn't tight, but then like that area and the other side too. speaker-1: ⁓ I don't know. Back to the bad updates. speaker-0: Of my back were like really bugging me and I'm like, What the heck is going on? So I've been doing just like light exercise or like upper body, like light lower body, some core and upper body, and definitely is helping. Like it's definitely feeling better. But like even like sitting, I'm very aware of my posture and everything, which isn't a bad thing. But gotta be consistent with my workouts. speaker-1: Yeah. This this week I have not been consistent with my workouts and it's just like poor decision making on my part that made it that way, you know what I mean? Which I'm like, Ugh, that's just so annoying. I had total control over this and here I am. speaker-0: And when you don't work out, you already mentally are feeling less than. speaker-1: And speaker-0: Then like on top of not like knowing that you were the reason you didn't work out, not any other reason, you are it's like double whammy of feeling less then. speaker-1: Right. Exactly. Exactly. And I have exercised this week. It just like not as much as I wanted to. I have a I have like a two hour sparring session tonight that I'm like There you go. Yeah. But like it's going to be so draining. But I'll get I'll get the endorphins for sure. Yeah. ⁓ that's what I'm getting ready to go to right after this. but yeah, not to interrupt your flow. What else you got? ⁓ speaker-0: Nice. ⁓ we had Rio's first beach day. We had our five year anniversary, Andrew and I, and we took Rio to the beach. And it was really nice. It wasn't too hot. It was like perfect weather. It wasn't too hot. There was a nice breeze. The water like was cold but like very refreshing. So I just did like a quick dunk once. ⁓ but yeah, going to the beach with a baby. It's like a lot of work and it's not the same time. You just need to have good shade, which speaker-1: ⁓ my god. Okay. ⁓ speaker-0: setting that up and everything is the work. speaker-1: ⁓ I know. Yeah. Shade is necessary. I can't believe we grew up going to a beach without shade. Like, that's insane. We would just have to screen on like twice. speaker-0: Hello? ⁓ it's crazy. Yeah. speaker-1: Well the UV index is not as strong there as it is here, but bam. I just like can't I can't fathom like two hours in the sun here without shade and I'm like, well that's and we're cooked. That's it. ⁓ speaker-0: Yeah, forget it. Forget it. But yeah, he was like in like a long sleeve bathing suit thing where I and like a hat. I'm like, Are you hot? Do you need to go in the water? But then like he the water was really cold. So but there was a good breeze and I like he was fine. He liked like he just was like content to sit and look at people and like play with a toy. So it was cute. He liked so sweet. speaker-1: Yeah, I get that. I can't believe I can't believe you like you and Andrew slash a lot of our friends we're going into our f we're getting fifth year anniversary of marriage. Crazy. speaker-0: I know five years. It is really crazy. speaker-1: Five years married feels like a milestone to me. speaker-0: It does. I then I'm like, should we do like a trip or something? And then it's tough to plan and Rio's still little and I wouldn't want to leave him somewhere and I don't necessarily want to go far, but it would be nice to do a big trip. And I like, maybe do like and I'm putting quotes with my hands, like our golden anniversary, which I'm referring to. You know how your golden birthday is like turning the number of the date it is? speaker-1: Right. Why are you coming to Puerto Rico? Yeah. speaker-0: ⁓ we got married on July eighth. So I'm like our golden anniversary would be the eighth, so eight years. So eight years on the eighth. I'm like maybe our eight year one. We'll do a big trip. 'Cause it's like kind of a random number, but it's fun because it's the eighth. That's when we got married. speaker-1: Yeah. Did I get married on the ninth or the tenth? speaker-0: I wanna say the ninth. But am I just thinking because it's September? Or was it October? speaker-1: It was October. I think it was ten nine twenty one. speaker-0: Yeah, I think you're right. speaker-1: It wouldn't be ten ten. I should know that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For sure, yeah. For sure. It's only because the only thing that trips me up is 'cause we got engaged September tenth, I think. That's why I get confused. 'Cause I'm pretty speaker-0: I mean it's okay. ⁓ that is confusing. Ten and then ten, ten, or ten, nine. speaker-1: I'm pretty sure it's I'm ninety-nine percent sure it's ten nine. I don't think it's can report back. They can report back. ⁓ I think that's a really sweet idea. And congratulations on five years of marriage. Because like then there's the years of dating. It's just like we're getting up there in the years together situation. I know. It is nuts. It's like gonna be nine years with our people. That's crazy. speaker-0: Okay. Thank you. ⁓ isn't that nuts? Yeah. Wow. Crazy. Crazy. We grew up together. how's Puerto Rico? speaker-1: Wow. We did. How's Puerto Rico is good? Puerto Rico is very dusty here. It's not smoky. But we're having very similar issues where like my throat gets scratchy a lot. I haven't been able to breathe properly in months. ⁓ it's just like allergies slash Saharan dust slash where like the weather reports are like, yeah, you're in terrible air quality. This happens every year. It's like a it's just a natural thing that happens. Like the Saharan dust blows here. It like we haven't had a clear sunset in weeks. ⁓ speaker-0: So what's worse? Saharan dust or California wildfire smoke? speaker-1: Probably the wildfire smoke is definitely worse for you. speaker-0: What's your out of curiosity, what's your air quality index? 'Cause ours is I think it's like one thirty six. speaker-1: It's a question. 136 sounds really bad. ⁓ all right, wrinkle. speaker-0: I guess for yours the like extended length of time is worse. speaker-1: Ours is fifty one right now. So yeah. Definitely. I think smoke's just much worse for your lungs. The dust isn't good, but like I don't think it's like speaker-0: Mm, okay. So it's the smoke is worse. It's not like dangerous or like it. speaker-1: Yeah, it can be, but not not right now. Not like at this yeah. speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I don't know if you can hear Rio. He just woke a nap. He's been waking up from his second nap in such a cranky mood. I don't normally he's like so happy. But his second nap lately he's been like speaker-1: I'm glad I asked. ⁓ gosh. To be ⁓ No rest for the wicked. ⁓ but yeah, Puerto Rico air quality, not so good, but it's not been too too hot. It's like it's hot, but I think it's only like eighty something right now, which is fine. ⁓ and the humidity's nuts. But it's like it's manageable. It's not too much yet. It's gonna get much worse in September, October. September, October is gonna be horrible. ⁓ yeah. so it's okay. But yeah, my week was just very busy. Just we are we are cranking it out with some work, just work and chores and like side projects and hanging out. There's been social, social stuff. That's I got on It is fun. I have ⁓ I've been watching the World Cup games. I've been doing speaker-0: Yeah. ⁓ Who are you rooting for in the World Cup? We're down to the two teams. speaker-1: We are down. ⁓ well, I watched the England Argentina game yesterday. speaker-0: First like full game I watched. speaker-1: It was so good. It was a good game. It was a good game. So exciting. And I really found myself once England scored, I was like, Okay, Argentina, let's fucking go. Because it's and I just want people to like score. So and then once they scored again, I was like, England, we have to score. Let's go. Let's go. That's kind of where I was at. I just want drama, to be honest. Yes, exactly. I I think it'll be lovely if Messi gets another World Cup. ⁓ I think ⁓ if Spain plays a great game and we get to see Spain speaker-0: Yeah. Was vote or like shootout or speaker-1: That cool. speaker-0: I'm rooting for Spain though. speaker-1: Yeah, because of Selene's boyfriend? Mm-hmm. Okay. That's great. I love that. I'm going to watch it at my friend's house who's like a messy super fan. And she was like, if I cry, you see nothing. Look away. Okay. ⁓ but so that'll be really fun. And I'm just excited to watch, honestly. But I I think I'll be okay with as long as it's fun to watch, you know what I mean? Exactly. You know what I'm excited for? This Saturday I have a friend's birthday party. She's turning thirty. speaker-0: Okay. speaker-1: And she planned like a field day and we're gonna do like kickball and like play I think we're bringing like water guns. Like we're just gonna have a fun time in like a piece of land that they own. We're just gonna like roam and like play like kids. And I just it's gonna be so much fun. And then that whole group of friends will go watch the World Cup the next day and it's just it's gonna be lovely. speaker-0: That literally like is like perfect summer, like how to have a good nostalgia or things that make it feel like literally that's on my list. speaker-1: Things that make it feel like a perfect start. What does tell us? Go for it. speaker-0: Like just like playing, like getting together with friends and like like we I we play volleyball, but like anything, like a an outdoor game. Like it could be bocce ball at a barbecue, it could be ⁓ shoes, yeah, like whatever. But that is so summer nostalgia. speaker-1: Playing for sure. Do you think like, yeah, like what's what are the things do you feel like all of the things that make summer feel like summer now as an adult are all the things you're bringing forward from childhood? Like you're like bringing in the nostalgia factor. Is summer the place for the nostalgia? Inherently? speaker-0: Mm, I don't know, because like Christmas and holidays have so and fall has and spring. I get always in the spring. So all the things. It's any new season. It's like like you're entering that season, I always feel nice. speaker-1: No. That's true. But I b I've been four years without seasons, so speaker-0: Yeah, that's a that's interesting. speaker-1: Right, that's why I'm asking. Like 'cause to me I'm like to me, I'm like even summer to me is like a different, totally different thing. So yeah. I don't know. speaker-0: You feel Yeah, you like almost don't like summer as much. speaker-1: It's very different. Although I will say, in the last like month, I can't believe we're in the middle of July. That's crazy, number one. It makes me sad when we get yeah, the end of summer always makes me feel very sad, but it makes me there's a different layer of that sadness now because I feel sad for you guys. I know you guys eventually you're like, Yes, give me fall. But I don't know. I just like out of loyalty, I'm like, Yeah, fuck winter. But winter here is the best. speaker-0: Exactly. Well I'll be coming there at some point this winter. Mark my words, I'm saying it here. You are I know you are. And I and ⁓ no, I'm coming actually November. ⁓ no speaker-1: Coming in October. It's gonna be progress. November Okay, it's less gross. End of November. I didn't knew that. I don't know why I keep thinking you're coming in October. speaker-0: End of November. 'Cause I thought it was October for the longest time. speaker-1: Totally. I cannot agree more with this list. speaker-0: ⁓ I can keep going. when you're inside watching a show and it's really hot out. And like maybe you were outside in the morning, but you come out inside, like the AC is on, it's hot outside, or even like maybe you're not watching a show but you're watching like a sports game. But like inside watching T V when it's hot outside during the day. Like bright outside, but you're inside watching a show. ⁓ a daytime shower. And then like to really like summer as a whole, for me it needs to include at least one trip, at least one beach trip, at least one nighttime swim. Usually it's a pool, maybe it's like an evening, like golden hour, ⁓ in the ocean. And ⁓ I didn't write this down. I was looking for it on my list. But just like activities that like you could be like day trips somewhere. But like either like six flat like an amusement park or a farm or like somewhere where you're going for the day and you come back and you do it on like a weekday because it's summer. speaker-1: Literally our our lists are so identical, it's a little sad. No, literally the first thing on my list is activities. speaker-0: I'm really gonna keep this list and like check mark the ones I've done and then try to get the other one. speaker-1: I'm just gonna speed run through mine because it's so similar. Perfect. just so we can talk about them. Number one, activities. Number two, camp. Number three, swimming. Number four, ice cream. Number five, fun day trips with older cousins. I feel like it's such a like such like such a feeling of being a kid and being like, I get to be free and go wanna do because my older sisters or brothers or cousins are like they've taken care of it. I'm just in the car. I made it in the car, which is just a success. You know what I mean? Yes. And then I'm getting taken for a trip. ⁓ just like you said, beach. I feel like boardwalks, walking the boardwalk. ⁓ sun there's nothing better than the sunset at the beach. Like the Jersey shore. The sunset's, you know, obviously in the west, so we're not getting the sunset. But the best part about that to me was that like you all you get like so much natural shade from like five PM on. Yes. So all of a sudden the like intensity of the sun is gone and you just have real freedom to like play. Like the the beach becomes yours. Everything's cooled off. Everything's like chill. There's nothing better. And everything's like shorts. Yeah. Sweatshirt and shorts on the bees. speaker-0: A sweatshirt and shorts. Sweatpants and your swimsuit top, like yeah, it's so good. speaker-1: Yeah. Okay. Next on my list is sweatpants with my swim team racer back one piece bathing suit. Very good. Where like all of like this was before it was in style. They had the super high thighs and like kids would make fun of me for wearing them, but like and they so like my sweatpants wouldn't cover like my skin. So it would I don't even know. It was such a vibe though. ⁓ Separation of summer friends and school friends. I felt like there was very much times where, especially when I was older and like lifeguarding, where I like wouldn't see like Mary or Nicole for like months at a time. And then I'd like see them at a bonfire and be like, Yeah, I'm like have this whole other life. ⁓ I'm cool. I'm cool. ⁓ on my list is outside, outside, outside. Like I was just outside, you know, it's just yeah. Everything, especially when you're kid, it's just like speaker-0: I'm cool, I promise. speaker-1: Everything is outside, your friends, your activities, what you where you wanna be is outside. Pools, neighborhood, walking and biking and freedom of movement. I feel like like you were kind of saying like wake up, read a book, and then I would maybe walk to my cousins who live down the street, or I'd ride my bike to the library, or I'd ride my bike to the pool. Like there was a lot of freedom at a certain age in the summer. speaker-0: Library is definitely a summer like the the library reading program. So have Rio do it. speaker-1: God, I love the library. Yeah. Night swims, water LOL, because I just kept saying water. Yeah. ⁓ and like you said too, inside being freezing, but it's hot outside. Like watching movies with like the shades drawn and like getting under the covers, but like knowing that it's a luxury because and that's how I live my life now. But it's like fun to remember when that was like very summery and I'd have like a popsicle and watch like T V Nickelodeon and stuff with my neighborhood. kids I'd babysit or something. ⁓ and then just like indulgence. Kinda like what you were saying. Like I feel like having ice cream for dinner on your day trips and like doing all that shit and just just so much fun. speaker-0: Mm-hmm. Yeah, so fun. I think easy things of this list, 'cause like obviously a lot of these are nostalgic, so it's hard to like do now. Sleeping in, reading a book in the morning, like freedom of movement aren't necessarily things you can do as an adult. But ⁓ speaker-1: Well they're not novels now. Novels. speaker-0: Yeah, it's like it's like the like the ⁓ whimsy things, like making life more whimsical and taking those moments when you can. Like a nice coffee, maybe you sit outside while you drink it and you read a little bit with the kids or before the kids wake up if you have kids or just on your own before work. same thing with like going for a walk. Do you do it earlier or later because it's light out all the time. Another one I just thought of is like card games after dinner. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. speaker-0: Because we would always play card games on vacation after dinner or like some type of game, but card games in particular are like this is like a summer vacation feel. Yeah. But that's easy to incorporate too. speaker-1: Yeah. Yeah. I love ⁓ my gosh. I also put in here lakes because I feel like in the summertime is the only time I'm going to a lake really. Like I'd go to the beach sometimes in the winter, like later when I was older, like to beach walk with Katie or something. And ⁓ but lakes purely a summertime thing. ⁓ and I like hot take, what do we prefer? A lake or an ocean? Obviously I live at the beach. It's but like Would I choose to have a lake house? Like a beautiful lake house, not like a pond house, but maybe I would have a pond house. I don't know. speaker-0: Here's my thought on this. I prefer the beach over like the ocean over a lake. But if I were to own a house, I would prefer a lake house on the water. Because A, it's a lot harder to get a beach house on the water. B like tracking sand in and out, trekking to the beach, bringing your stuff back and forth, versus like a lake is just a little bit easier. Or you're right there. speaker-1: It's so much speaker-0: And you could get a boat, there's water sports, like all of that is like definitely more accessible. Especially if you have a dock or you have a a boat house or whatever. speaker-1: I think I fully, fully agree. Which feels controversial, but like it's just the truth of the matter. speaker-0: Yeah. I know. It it feels weird. Like I prefer the ocean. But I would prefer speaker-1: Like you can't replace like you can't really compare a lake to an ocean. They shouldn't be compared. They're both beautiful things. Correct. But if I have to choose, which we will certainly have to choose, you know what mean? Rio, stop stealing your mother. So sweet. speaker-0: He was just like crawling in, you just heard pitter patter on the floor. He's so sweet. speaker-1: That's so sweet. Sweet. But yeah, no. Lakes I yeah. I'm choosing Lake House for sure. After especially after seeing beach houses here, like they're only going to fall into the ocean. It's a matter of time. Lake is the way. speaker-0: You can't really pass on your your beach house. speaker-1: No. The the beach you can take it. So I choose lake for sure. that's definitely another speaker-0: Family, yeah. There are downsides to lakes, but less, I think. speaker-1: There's downsides to lakes, but like we don't even need to be worried about them. In terms to be honest. ⁓ speaker-0: Exactly. ⁓ preferably like a big lake. One like Lake George or the Finger Lakes or speaker-1: Yeah, I'm talking majestic. I'm talking majesty. As majestic as the ocean is, you know. speaker-0: 'Cause generally those are cleaner. Yeah. You don't have to worry about like algae things. Like speaker-1: Right. Smaller bodies of water are just going to be a little bit sinkier. Correct. And I don't really like that. Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah, yeah. speaker-1: I got spoiled on lakes. speaker-0: Yeah, I know. Yeah. It's some good lakes. speaker-1: Summer loving had me a blast. I do feel like summer is also where like when we were like eighteen to twenty five, like we are going like I was flirting. You know what I mean? Summer flirting is so much better than like actually that's not true. I wouldn't say it's better because the winter's so cozy and adorable. But like I was, you know, as an adult in the summer, I was flirting. speaker-0: More free and that and that strange. speaker-1: It felt so like attractive. You know, I was tan. You're so pale in the winter. I was you feel good about yourself. I was you know, you're active. You're tan. I was blonde back in the day. speaker-0: And speaker-1: Yeah, pretty much. In my head it it was. In my head, speaker-0: Such a blonde all blondes think that blonde is better. speaker-1: I was but all blondes tell other blondes that it's better. Like you're indoctrinated into this lifestyle is. I was raised by Emily. Emily told me blonde, tan. She she almond mommed me. speaker-0: No midmoff. Like maybe the opposite. That's like wasp. speaker-1: Yeah, I wanted to be blonde, but I didn't have to want to be blonde. speaker-0: I never bought into that. speaker-1: Well, good for you, Liz, you're better than me. speaker-0: I mean like you are in your head better than me because you're blonde and y you have been so speaker-1: No, that's but I'm not. Look at this. It's gone. speaker-0: That's a fact that all blondes have to come come to terms. speaker-1: And I did. I had to come to terms. speaker-0: In fact, better. speaker-1: Well, fine. If you want me to say it. Blondes, I still think I look better blonde. I think I look better blonde. Like I do think I should get some highlights. speaker-0: Fine. I do think you would look better blonde, but that doesn't or like look good blonde. speaker-1: about being better than you, it's about being my best self, Liz. It's what it is. I'm not I'm not thinking of I'm never thinking about brunettes. speaker-0: Okay. Good clarification. Yeah, they're raising back into the ⁓ speaker-1: The slander. The brunette slander. No, no, I no, I love brunette speaker-0: Like here's here's the vibe that I've gotten from all blondes. Is that not all blondes, but you we're talking about blondes versus brunette. Not all men. Okay, not all classic. The slander is they will never actually say blondes are better, but they live their life that way. And like will say things along the way, like, ⁓ I need to like like I need this summer to bleach my hair blonder. Or like all these things where you're like, Okay, you think that's so much better. speaker-1: Well but again it it is very much ki it's them they think it's better on themselves. They they feel better about themselves being blonde. But you're right. You you are very right. And and I can actually speaker-0: Not that I can understand. It's like your time and you're like, I roll my eyes out. I'm like, Yeah, okay. speaker-1: No, I you should definitely roll your eyes at it. It is ridiculous. And honestly, I really do say it now much more for a joke. Like, cause I don't want to I don't want to be dying my hair because that sounds horrible. I did I did dye my Yeah, I did the platinum as platinum as I could get myself to go. And I loved how it looked. It was great for my complexion. But like I felt like a week later I was like, ⁓ I grew up. Like, ⁓ God speaker-0: My hair, everything. Yeah. speaker-1: And like the upkeep is horrifying. And then it gets It's not good for your hair. And I am a low maintenance gal. I don't like having to maintain anything ever. ⁓ speaker-0: Not good for your hair. Yeah. Yeah. So it's also a summer thing too, I feel like. speaker-1: Hm. The low maintenance? speaker-0: Yeah, not having to maintain any like just kinda like chilling. Like minimal makeup sunscreen, maybe miscellaneo like yeah, very minimal. speaker-1: Let me ask you something. What is your like minimal makeup? Like what is your base makeup these days? Are we wearing no makeup usually? Or are we wearing makeup? speaker-0: Most days no makeup. Okay. Which also kinda screws me sometimes 'cause my makeup has S Pf in it, so then I have to remember to separately put on S Pf for my face. Which I usually do before I go outside. But that does trim me up sometimes 'cause usually no makeup. speaker-1: And is this a summer thing or is this an all year round thing? speaker-0: This is an all your round thing, but it's like ⁓ also because of my profession. Like I yes I used to wake up at the butt crack of dawn, not even dawn, like before that. I'm not doing my makeup to like away. No, no, no. And then I work out and then so I'm just like used to not getting ready in the morning. Yeah. ⁓ when I do get ready in the morning, it's like a very basic like tinted moisturizer with SPF in it. And speaker-1: Yeah, no no. speaker-0: Maybe some under eye usually and like ⁓ maybe mascara if I'm feeling up for it. Or like I feel on the eyebrows of it. speaker-1: Yeah, I I do not wear makeup daily because it's a million degrees every day. So it makes no sense. And like even waterproof eyeliner, which I do try to put eyeliner on sometimes because I start to look like a ghost and I'm like, All right, let's just put eyeliner on like on Mondays so that by Thursday I look like a ghost. 'Cause it takes a while to like wash fully off. You know what I mean? ⁓ I'll do that every once in a while because I'm just like, ⁓ I look so tired. Let's just put mascara on on a Monday. So you know, whatever. Apply it twice a week and never take it off. ⁓ that's probably not good. But whatever. The point is, I'm not wearing makeup, but sometimes I just like I look at myself and I'm like, I look so tired. I really just like I don't feel pretty. I don't feel cute. And I haven't felt cute in forever. So somet I'm like in this phase where I sometimes I will put makeup on. Just randomly. If I have a minute. ⁓ yeah. Especially with now that we're putting ourselves on camera more, I am very aware of how I look. And ⁓ and that's fine. I'm not blonde. I'm not tan. I'm not I'm speaker-0: I'm just an ugly doctor. No, I feel you about the being on camera more. And then some of those first like are f the first times we recorded, I don't care. I'm throwing my hair up in a bun. And then we post them on Instagram and I'm like, Mm, actually I I do I do care a little bit. Actually I could look a little cuter. speaker-1: Actually I could look a little cuter. Like even as we jumped on here, I meant to change my shirt 'cause I was like, this is not gonna show up on camera very good. We need to wear something that's not white. But ⁓ but here we are. And also I'm like, All right, great, at least there's a middle part, like, okay. speaker-0: At least that. speaker-1: At least something. And then I'm like, ⁓ I'm wearing earrings. You can't see that. I have headphones on. Yeah. Anyway. You look good. Very good. ⁓ yeah, yeah, yeah. And for the most part too, I'm like, the main lesson, the main main takeaway here is that like i you should just be very accepting of how you look because that doesn't matter too much. Correct. What matters is what we're doing and what we're capable of. speaker-0: You look very And also I like skincare matters more, especially if you're not gonna be wearing a lot of good skincare, washing your face is very speaker-1: ⁓ yeah. Good. And I you know, I have that really unlocked. I've got I'm using I'm using La Roche Posey. ⁓ Moisturizer double protection. La Roche P how do you say it? Pussy? La Roche Pussy? speaker-0: Did I have that doubt? Pose. It's like the anthroposi. ⁓ speaker-1: Lavroche pose. Yes. Yes. We're using the SPF thirty every day, sometimes twice a day. Beautiful neck. Always. Good. ⁓ but I do feel like I stand in the coffee shop and I just get hit by sun. Yeah. And I so that's why I'm very vigilant about the SPF. I never miss SPF and I have it at the store because I literally am just not playing. Yeah. I have so much SPF on me at all times. It's in my bag. But I feel like I do I feel like it's not enough. I speaker-0: That's very smart. speaker-1: Can like I come home and I just feel like I have red cheeks. speaker-0: Yeah. You should wear a hat too. Or like like a just like a one of those big sun hats. It might look ridiculous. I was about to say, maybe not in the store. It's just out and about. speaker-1: All right. Like I'm gonna send you a photo of me in a massive fedora just like speaker-0: Post it. Post it on the gram. That'll be cute. speaker-1: That would be cute. I will, I will. That's a great idea. Connor has a massive hat. I'll bring it in and take a photo. That's right. ⁓ my god. Perfect. Okay. Note to self. Write that down. Post photo. speaker-0: No, I've worn it. I love it. That's we'll post that picture too. Write that down. I got this. That I can do. That I can do. speaker-1: Okay. ⁓ I wanted to ask how did you're trying a new thing go? ⁓ yeah, yeah, yeah. Did we thrift again? In the last episode you said you might want to keep thrifting. speaker-0: Yes. I did thrift with Celine. I got this shirt actually that I'm wearing. Let me stand up to show. speaker-1: Please show. Everyone go to YouTube if you'd like to see Liz's shirt. ⁓ so cute. ⁓ I love it, Liz. This is very cutesy. speaker-0: Cute. And then I got a gift for a friend, which I got like it's like a hand knitted blanket, coasters, and a bracelet. Nice. ⁓ it's almost like kind of hard to thrift with like for someone because you're like, well, this is all secondhand. Like, will you like that? But you just have to embody the spirit of that person and you can find cute things. Mostly like home things, I feel like are the best. speaker-1: Very nice. Yeah. I ⁓ speaker-0: Yeah. I got Andrew a couple shirts that fit him really nice. I think I talked about two on the last episode, and then I got him another one that like fits him really nice. capris. Like capries in so long, but they're back. And I thought I wouldn't wear them because I feel like I w when they were popular was like our awkward stage in middle school where everything was speaker-1: ⁓ a pair. They are bad. Literally just thinking that yeah. speaker-0: ⁓ so Celine bought them and then they didn't fit her that well. So then I tried them on. I was like, I kinda like them actually. She's like, This is gonna heal your inner child and I said, You know what? Enough said. And I've worn them and I really like them. speaker-1: Sisters. They're there to help you heal your inner child and I love that. No, I've been trying to get a gift for my friend whose birthday is on Saturday, and I don't I don't know how to do this. I'm a terrible gift coder. I really am. speaker-0: Yeah, it's it can be tough. speaker-1: But I did get my notebooks in finally. I had to go to the post office and like demand them. I like showed them the tracking number and I was like, give me my things. So I have these notebooks and I've been like doodling on the covers of them and it's so fun. And like the markers I got are like acrylic pens. They're like basically paint. And ⁓ it's just heaven. So I did have the thought while I was doodling a little bit before hopping on here that ⁓ maybe I just like personalize the cover of a notebook for her and like Give her this personalized notebook. ⁓ Yeah, and it's like it's not like super I don't know her well enough to go out and get her super personal gift, but this is at least me putting in some time. speaker-0: Yeah. Take a picture of it and then when you do it, and then we'll post it when this episode comes out with our hack. I'm writing it down, don't worry I got this. Yes. speaker-1: Okay. Okay, cool. Thank you. Appreciate that. ⁓ love it, love it. And then we did something super fun this week. We have yet to edit and post, but Liz and I did something new for you guys. ⁓ we filmed ourselves making recipes, cooking. We found ourselves cooking. ⁓ how was that experience for you, Elizabeth? speaker-0: Good. The recipe I chose was like almost easy. You'll hear more about it in the video when you watch. It was like almost easy. And it what like overall it was like medium easy. ⁓ but I made like meat kebabs. The tough part was getting the meat, the raw meat to actually stick on the kebab. So anyway, you'll see that on the on the vid. Let's also post a picture of the finished product. Did you take a picture of the finish product? speaker-1: But Final. Okay, perfect. Yes. speaker-0: Perfect. Great. Yeah, I'm excited to post those. It'll be a like a nice like YouTube video to watch in the background or put on while you cook. ⁓ I think we're gonna make it long form, but let us know if you want maybe both or what you like. speaker-1: Yeah. Walking. We can post clips on shorts as well. ⁓ but I'm excited too to like see our different editing styles and like see the different vibes because that's gonna that's just fun. You know, we don't have to do things the same. We it's just gonna be fun. speaker-0: For sure. Me too. It's good yeah. My the goal here, I'll say loud now, is I want the YouTube channel to be like like we both are posting to it, maybe vlogs sometimes, maybe like thrift haul sometimes, which also can be on our socials for sure. But ⁓ like new things we're doing, but I feel like we each kinda make a video and and post it as we do it and you can kind of see a glimpse into each of our lives, which will be fun. speaker-1: Super fun. I love it. Which will be fun. I did a recipe. ⁓ it was an easier recipe, but don't worry, I made it look very hard. ⁓ I haven't even gone through all the footage yet because there's too much because I'm like I don't know what I'm doing in that kitchen, but yeah. I'm absolutely just like so aware there's a camera on me and just like, okay, so I guess I'm making pasta. Okay, making pasta. And I'm like after a long day and I'm like I don't really wanna be filming, but you know what? We I committed and I'm doing it. Yeah. I had a lot of fun doing it. I had a lot of fun doing it. But it was very much like, okay, let's go. speaker-0: Like cooking is a good way to do it because naturally I don't know about you, but like when you're cooking growing up or in the kitchen, you're like naturally like wanna be chatty or you're like ha like pretend you're on a cooking show and I feel like that's kinda half the speaker-1: ⁓ yeah. fun of it. Exactly. I was very chatty. Good. Don't remember about what. But my God. So chatty. But it should be fun to play around with like the video more than the audio this time around. Because I do think that's like I'm gonna speed things up. I can like pull out you can separate the audio from the video and like delete some video but keep some audio, you know? speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I agree. But yeah, let us know what you think about your what makes what makes summer feel like summer to you? That's definitely some of our things. ⁓ some of it is like nostalgic with you as a kid, but Like what as an adult makes it feel like summer? I'd love to hear from everyone. speaker-1: Yeah. Drop your comments below. TikTok, Instagram, YouTube. Hit us up at catching up with Liz and Evie. It's been fun. speaker-0: It's been fun. See ya next week. Bye. Hi, welcome back to catching up with Love Island with Liz and Abby. That's right. speaker-1: Okay, I love you, bye. Quick. ⁓ Before we sign off for the day, what do you think of what are your final thoughts on season eight, Love Island, Liz? speaker-0: ⁓ it was a fun season to watch, but like boring towards the ends and frustrating. I do hope that it'll be a good reunion once everyone is seen the comments like and watches it back, all the all of the ⁓ Islanders. I am curious how the reunion will go 'cause the reunion is not till the end of August. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah. Which is kinda wild. So either there will be like more to discuss than just the show, because I'm sure they'll all be posting, going on podcasts. Already there's been some of that with, you know, people talk like Sol said she was talking to Beatrice and ⁓ Beatrice and saying like they're gonna keep it real at the reunion and call people out. I think Kenzie was caught on live saying it was like the Melanie show. And like if you weren't her friend, you were on the out. Like so there's like interesting tea that's happening outside the villa that's gonna be too much to keep up with for sure. But that will come into play, I'm sure, at the reunion. Bless you. But yeah, the ending, I mean, I'm like it's I have nothing really to say. Not surprised. Brendan Trace won. Carlin and I were second. speaker-1: Yeah. I found that surprising. I I get why people like the idea of Carl and Anaya. I just don't feel like we saw anything between them that was really that exciting. speaker-0: Did you? Like I think people like them more than Keda and Zach and Melanie and Sincere. So speaker-1: But the fact that Melanie Sin and Sincere are even in there is ridiculous crazy. So it doesn't make any sense. If you're like voting for a Melanie and Sincere to be in the top four and then it doesn't really matter what else you voted for. speaker-0: I think ⁓ there were there was a group of people that were rooting for Melanie and Sincere because they wanted Melanie to win. And then in the past they've done this thing where they like each pick an envelope and one of them has all of the prize money and they choose whether to keep it or split it, which they didn't do this year, which is a little bit weird. Right. Most people just split it. It's not like and like you know most people are gonna split it, but I think people were hoping speaker-1: Okay. That's what I was waiting for. speaker-0: For Melanie to choose to keep it and like finally break up with him, but I'm like that wasn't gonna happen anyway. speaker-1: It's a cat on my shoulder. I need I need a cat on my shoulder. Yeah. I was waiting for that, but then I again I like also knew it wasn't gonna happen because Trinity and Bryce are too locked in. Like why why it wouldn't make even sense to give them envelopes? Because like and that's why it's a little boring. It's like we know exactly what they're gonna do. But it was like very sweet and I very much enjoyed the sweetness of their the relationship. And like I'm v extremely sold on Bryce Infinity. speaker-0: I agree. I I I do think they're genuine. speaker-1: Yeah, it's very sweet. Yeah. ⁓ but yeah. speaker-0: Things I laughed at in the finale were sincere. They walk up, ⁓ there's only one massage bed. Like I guess we'll rock, paper, scissors, shoot to see who gets the massage. It's like seriously sincere? speaker-1: Like why even say that? Just give Melanie a massage and then like maybe you can get one too. But like like exactly Maybe not. speaker-0: I didn't want to give you one, but like they don't that was weird. speaker-1: It was weird. He's or maybe like maybe he's just joking. These are terrible jokes. speaker-0: But I don't think he's like I think he genuinely would have taken a massage from her. speaker-1: I find it crazy that like the only thing that I saw, I'm not like seeking out any real life updates on these people because I'm I don't I don't want to spend my time seeking out real life updates on these people. But I did see one from Trinity. I followed her from our catching up ⁓ Instagram account because we need more follows on that account. Anyway, so I saw her update and it was like just her calling out everyone for like talking shit about Zach and Kata and like How sweet Zach is and like just defending Zach. And I just find that so dumb. Like, like I get it, but you do know that you just went on a reality TV show. And the whole point of that is for you to get famous and people are talking about you guys. That's like the actual end result of this is people talking about y'all. And I understand you might not like what they're saying, but you actually and and this isn't me saying like you don't get a choice in how you're treated. Yes, of course you do. But like you're I think you need to like take a minute and digest what's going on out there. Like you know what I'm saying? Like absolutely you cannot like how people are receiving the show. That's of course, that's fine. And everyone should be treated with respect. speaker-0: I agree. And also like stand up for bullying and online is not okay. speaker-1: And maybe you're right a little bit in some instances. But I just I was like, Okay, I I need you to come in b literally, you gotta touch grass and come back into reality before you go on Instagram. Yeah. Of course. speaker-0: And you have to watch the show back. Of course, you know Zach well. You just spent six weeks with him, etcetera, et cetera. But you don't know what he was saying in the confessionals. You can't see some of the things he said or how he was in Kaza Amor. Yeah. And how he like you just you don't see everything. You see how he portrays himself to you. Right. And speaker-1: ⁓ speaker-0: Yeah, the public doesn't like him, like there's a reason why and of course say something for bullying. speaker-1: No speaker-0: No, of course. I I agree, I think it was weird. Also, meanwhile, like there's comments on Anaya's Instagram that are just like blatantly racist. Of course there are. speaker-1: Of course there are. That's so shitty. speaker-0: Okay, th that's so shitty. Like, can we say something against that too if we're gonna I think like is Zach is Zach asking her to do this? Pro speaker-1: Yeah yeah. speaker-0: Exactly. Where I'm like, I don't know, like that kind of like por plays into why people don't really like Zack. speaker-1: Exactly. And then there's that photo of like Carl and and ⁓ Bryce like taking care of the girls' luggage and then Melanie and Kata are both working with their own luggage. Like that's crazy. It's like at every turn, it's like, yeah, they're immature boys, guys. They're immature boys. They should be criticized. speaker-0: I didn't see. speaker-1: And if the girls would have criticized themsel them more in the villa, we wouldn't be this hard on them out here. Correct. It's you're just letting a lot slide. Yeah, they're young and immature. Yeah. And their bars are too low. ⁓ speaker-0: I don't like realize. Yeah. Like needs people to like Zach as much as she does. Yes. And it's like no, we don't. speaker-1: And that's fine. Like you could just like Zach, that's fine. But you can't like pretend he's something more. Like just like just shitty boys. speaker-0: Correct. It's ⁓ fine. If you like ⁓ I love him. But that's not enough for Cada. Like, she's like, No, I want you to like him. And she's like the other guy, she doesn't really. speaker-1: Like it. I love it, huh? Yeah, yeah. Okay. I will say I just saw I swear I'm not looking for this shit, but I did just see I think Instagram or TikTok, I forget, of ⁓ Trinity and Cada coming out of a salon together and they got they got their hair done. And finally seeing Kata out of those tiny baby bangs. ⁓ my god, it's given me like healing. But Jesus Christ, they look so hot. Cada looks so it's speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah, Kato. speaker-1: She's one of the most beautiful She's literally stunning. Yeah. She's so it's just her face is crazy. Yeah. It's like she's speaker-0: I saw people saying, ⁓ what was the what was the model speaker-1: Show. Project Runway? speaker-0: No, no, no, no, no. The one with the with Tara Banks. speaker-1: ⁓ speaker-0: Shit. speaker-1: It's not Project Runway? No. No, no, no. The one with Tyra Banks. speaker-0: ⁓ god, I feel so dumb. speaker-1: The model show. ⁓ speaker-0: We're all rooting for you. How dare America's Next Hopel, ⁓ my gosh. Crushed on America's Next Top model. speaker-1: America's next top model. ⁓ my god. She would have been Ty would have like, That's okay, don't speak. Your face is beautiful. She would have been like, Shut up. Damn, girl. Yeah, wow. It's like begs the question, why is she not modeling? She's so tall and skinny. She's literally a model. They were all models, like in there. Yeah, they were so tall. Sometimes I would like see her legs like curled up on the couch and be like, those do not end. Like it's like how like damn. speaker-0: Literally. I think all over five nine or five nine. Yeah, she shed models. ⁓ speaker-1: Anyway, I thank you for getting me to watch Love Island. This was very fun. I really enjoyed being in with the world on something, ⁓ being up to date. It is so fun. I really had a lot of fun talking with you, talking with my friends who are watching it. It was a good speaker-0: It's so funny. Good. You're constantly dissecting people and their interactions. ⁓ And like again, this feels silly that I have to say it, but like these are twenty something year olds navigating relationships with each other on TV. Like and we are watching it. And thank God we didn't have to do that and like navigate publicly our relationships. But like that's what it is. And so any criticism is criticism of them on the show or how they're acting, which is allowed. but like they are their own people, so off obviously their actions are allowed. Like I don't know, I just feel like like you can't like bully someone or send them death threats is seriously not okay. And I do feel that the amount of criticism they're getting is probably astronomical. But is that speaker-1: ⁓ my god. Isn't that the way that it is at every end of the season, or no? speaker-0: Yeah, no, yeah, that's always how it is. Yeah. A a different conversation maybe, just like how insane I think the the sheer volume of either praise or criticism or like both, the sheer volume of that is crazy. speaker-1: I will say that's definitely Yeah, I agree. And also the ⁓ that's that must just be the other side of the coin for reality TV, where it's like, Yeah, ⁓ my god, these people get famous and money for doing absolutely nothing. And it's like, yeah, and they also get death threats for it too. Which like is why why would anyone want that? I don't know. Did you but we do enjoy it? If you'd like to see a young man try to run through the air, ⁓ god, go to YouTube. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: ⁓ my god, ⁓ my god, ⁓ my god. His chubby little legs. He's so sweet. ⁓ my god, ⁓ my god, ⁓ my god. He's such a Murray in that onesie. That is a that is such a Murray onesie. speaker-0: Yeah, it is. So anyway, it's it was a it was a fun season, but like I wish that the guys got more criticism from the girls on this girls are like so much happening. Except for Kenzie. Kenzie was like, You talk shit about me, I'm done with you. Yeah. Be more like Kenzie on that. speaker-1: If the girl Crazy thing to say, but here we are I gotta get ready for class myself. speaker-0: ⁓ I know. Here I am. Until next summer for Love Island. speaker-1: Okay, until next summer. speaker-0: Alright, love you. speaker-1: Love ya.
