Brett Hart: We're back. Welcome everyone to this episode of The Gap. I am your one and only host now, Bret Hart, and this episode I'm going to go over a little bit of life updates, what to expect moving forward with this podcast, and how we would go about Dan leaving us. And I would just like to say there is no bad blood whatsoever between Dan and I. Dan is my brother, one of my best friends, and the things that he has done these past three, four years with Jack Javelin. has been incredible to watch, not just as someone that's close to him, but even if I was on the outside looking in, seeing the things that he's been able to accomplish and build in such a short amount of time. It's truly incredible. And I am blessed to even have him be a part of this journey on this podcast for so long. This podcast has been through a lot of iterations. We started off as our group change group chat name, Mass Monsters, and then we went on to be the gap Where we were talking about javelin and baseball specific training. Then we split off into that with just being weight room and on-field performance. We've had Olympic javelin throwers on, high-level strength conditioning coaches, some of our friends and buddies that are doing great things in the industry, whether they be pro athletes or just people that are looking to train athletes. So I am extremely grateful for the time spent in the 140 episodes that Dan and I were able to do together. But moving forward with all that being said. He has decided to part ways with the show and do all Jack Javelin stuff. So I would have no surprise in me if Jav Javelin just took off and was an even bigger mainstream thing than it is now in our world and what I've been able to see from him. But just know, going forward, he might be a guest in the near future. But I will be your host and only your host for however many episodes are left. My plan. And what I wanted to talk about today, and my mission with this podcast, is to keep continuing this forward. And as I grow, the podcast grows, and my connections and conversations get better. Dan and I initially started this podcast to become much better public speakers, to get comfortable speaking in front of a camera, in front of a microphone, being able to post it and get feedback and hear what people have to say. So for our ability I mean you can go back and listen to episode one. We weren't good. And I still think we're not that good, but we are getting better. And so that's what I want this whole thing to encompass and what I want everyone to get out of. That this isn't just a pure, polished, perfect podcast. It is a huge just zoom in on my experience in my day-to-day life and how I've been talking, communicating, learning, reading, educating myself and others. And honestly going through this process together. I understand training and conditioning, being an athlete, entrepreneur, or just a parent listening, hoping that they can get something for their kids, it's tough. This stuff isn't easy. And it's not easy to do consistently for years on end. So that is why we also had to take a break the last couple months, just to reevaluate, make sure we wanted to do that do this and how we want to go about doing it. I spent last four months having the craziest summer I've ever had. It was the most blessed beyond measure. I was training high-level division one football athletes on my time, my schedule, working with college athletes in hockey, baseball, lacrosse, football, like I said, primarily working on speed, explosive training, getting to use the stuff I learned from Adam Archelletta's style and actually getting to implement it and see what worked and what didn't, as well as coming back from hip surgery, which I had about eight months ago, and finding my way back into training the way I wanted to train, being able to communicate and coach the way I wanted to communicate and coach. And being able to do the thing that I really love doing for myself in my personal brand and for my business. It's not easy. And that is why it is time to pick and choose what we wanted to prioritize on. So I appreciate if you are listening to this and coming back after that hiatus, and I hope you understand why we had to take the break. And just know I don't see myself taking a break anytime soon just because I have a very clear path in what I want to do. And if you are listening to this, you get a little sneak peek. So with this going forward, now that Dan is no longer a part of it, we are not necessarily going to be talking about javelin. So if you're here for javelin tips and training and coaching, I am not your guy. I mean, I've had a lot of podcasts and was able to talk to him, but I'm telling you right now, I will not be talking about javelin, the specifics of it, the intricacies of it, and how to throw farther. That is not what I'm interested in, and it's not what I'm confident enough to speak on. So it's just simply not going to be moving forward with the show. If Dane comes on as a guest, then yeah, obviously tune in. But just know if you are listening and you are a javelin thrower, hate to break it to you but that's that will not be what's continuing forward. What I am interested in and what I am extremely passionate about is self improvement, human development, and strength conditioning. That whole bucket. So mindset, physical training, how to actually strength coach and program philosophy, different exercise techniques, running a business and being an entrepreneur, running a gym, an online brand, social media, All those things are what I'm interested in because it's what I'm doing on a day to day basis. I am not just a strength coach. I never try to label myself as just a strength coach. I am a business owner. I do post on social media. I am now a podcaster. I do write ebooks and have guides that I write. So author in air quotes. So I have all these things that I'm extremely interested in. So with it just being me in this podcast, I want it to be a reflection on my interests in what I'm Learning and what I want to talk about. So what I'm most interested in right now currently are other strength conditioning coaches doing exactly what I'm doing. So other strength conditioning coaches that are leaving the pr the public the collegiate sector. I messed up the words there. But leaving the collegiate sector and doing their own thing on the private sector with the personal brand, building social media, trying to get comfortable being uncomfortable, speaking in front of the camera, doing more public speaking announcements. the mindset and philosophy approach behind that and all the things entitled in that approach of what I feel could be key for human development. Now if you've heard me talk before I think the best way to summarize everything that I'm interested in is the PIPE acronym. And I'm apologizing if you've heard this before and I've said this a million times, but I did get it from Jay Schroeder and it is exactly what I see this podcast going to. So PIPES, the first P is physical. So we're going to talking about physical development and the actual logistics of training, muscle hypertrophy, nutrition, step count, cardio, aerobic base, all those things. We will also be talking about that. The eye is intellect. So I do want to get some type of people from academia and highly intellectual people on to explain things in a way that makes sense that I probably don't have the capacity to explain just quite yet. So all the things that I was saying. I'm very good on the broscience side of things and explaining it very simply, but maybe getting some people that are definitely higher up in levels of academia to explain it in a little bit more of an intricate Huberman style way, if you're familiar with that. The next P in the PIPES acronym is psychology. I would love to get some type of psychologist or psychology major person in to talk mindset. Because I think that is something that is extremely undervalued in our day and age. in our experience as former athletes, becoming coaches, becoming business owners, it takes a huge mental toll on us as well as it does physically. And I would love to have a actual professional in that realm come and speak and actually give us a framework and what we can do. And then next going a little bit in line with that in that PIPES acronym after psychology is emotional state. So if we compare the two together, we can talk about our emotions and not just understand that we need to be fired up all the time. But we need to experience grief and experience sadness and experience pain and how we can go through that and actually work through it to become a better version of ourselves on the other side without us having to suffer through our emotions or to just stuff them down entirely and not be in line with them at all. That is something I'm also interested in talking about and wanting to dive down a much deeper rabbit hole with that. And then the last one is spirituality. I'm not saying we're gonna have a full prayer circle or meditation circle inside this podcast. But I would like to have somebody to be able to tie everything in from a spiritual lens, whether you believe in a God like figure or not. It's totally up to you and feel free not to listen to those. But that is what I'm interested in. How can we tie in this greater power, this greater being all within us to get what it is that we want? It's almost like a through line through that PIPES acronym. To make sure that we can actually achieve what it is that we say we want to achieve. So, yes, this gap is bridging training to on field performance. I might not even say that anymore. I think the gap is bridging just our mind to our body. Like we have so many thoughts, we have so many ideas, we have so many things that we want to do, and it's almost bridging the gap between dream to reality. How can we get our dream that we have in our head through into reality to a life that we were proud of and are worth sharing and being like in it. So that is my goal and my mission with this podcast and what I want to do. I want to have like-minded individuals to come on and to share their values, their beliefs and their life story so we can all learn from each other and go forward in this journey of life in this process of life together. And with that being said, I will give a little debrief on my life. Very quick, two minutes max. I will be speaking at Rip City Strength in October on Massachusetts. This is my first ever live gig talking in front of a crowd of high school kids, but talking about GPP. And I think that's really cool. I think that's something that I never foresaw myself doing, but having that ability to go out and educate and speak and become a public speaker is pretty cool. And I think that could be the start of something that I want to do more of. Training Albertus women's ice hockey again this year, so stay in tune for that. College girls, so excited to get them going because a lot of colleges sometimes don't have strength conditioning professionals helping them, so I get to be in part of that. Social media is still posting. I'm back to training. I've been doing Haas Anabolic. Shout out Will Rotel. This I'm on week four. And I have worked my way back from hip surgery all the way to Finally get into a physical state that I'm proud of and that I'm happy to be back in. So I cut that short, one minute. I don't really like talking about myself too much, but I know I gotta get better at it. But that's pretty much everything that I'm going to do and work through. And just know this podcast is going to still be every Monday. It might not be a guest every Monday. It might just be like me talking in front of the camera like this. And we'll go from there. If you have any guest recommendations whatsoever or you have any questions on this podcast moving forward. Please leave a comment down below. Please rate the show too. Any type of feedback I get from you, whether it's a one-star or five star, it gives me clarity and it gives me a path to take with this. So I all criticism or praise is received. So thank you for that. Thanks again for tuning in. I hope to live up to your expectations of how this podcast is going to go. And I'll see you next week in the next episode. It man out.
