Like I was hit by a truck similar to how you feel when you get sick, but I was just, I was done. I was done. I was thankful that I walked the dog earlier that morning, but I was so done. And so I went to go lay down and had some food and rested and then I felt bad for resting. I felt like, oh my God, I should be doing things. And then after a little while, I thought, you know what? No, sometimes the work process, the creative process, sometimes it needs a break and sometimes you need to just stop and rest and recharge. So day two of being creative in an Airbnb all to myself was a recharge day where I was absolutely just had some food and rested and then I felt bad for resting. I felt like, oh my God, I should be doing things. And then after a little while, I thought, you know what? No, sometimes the work process, the creative process, sometimes it needs a break and sometimes you need to just stop and rest and recharge. So day two of being creative in an Airbnb all to myself was a recharge day where I was absolutely just Immobile. I was immobile. I was in bed. I was watching, you know, programming or taking naps and spending time with my dog. I'm pretty sure she enjoyed that because we've been ⁓ moving around a lot and so she doesn't always get the time to just snuggle except at night or in the morning. And so I spent the day with my dog in bed just chilling out and it was the greatest time. So I feel completely recharged and I know that there's so much work to do. Immobile. I was immobile. I woke up to the most horrible words I've ever seen. And I'm just going to read you this article that I wrote because I feel it's important to share this. And so why not share it here with you? So this is an article that I wrote on Substack this morning and it's called, ⁓ the Humanity. Subtitle is this is no longer political. It's a human, it's a humanitarian crisis because it so is. So. Waking up to the words, a whole civilization will die tonight, I simply cannot comprehend how a US president, let alone another human being, if you can call him that, can say such a thing. How is threatening human life okay? Why isn't everyone out on the streets in an absolute outrage? Why are the majority of fellow Americans living their daily lives as if nothing is wrong? Meanwhile, I feel sick to my stomach over the countless unnecessary deaths around the world, the atrocities committed in the name of what exactly there are so many to even name. I remember during the height of COVID, people around me were planning events and parties and social calendars for the following year. I couldn't help but stand still watching in horror at what felt like callousness and total disregard for human life. While people were dying all around us, it seemed far more important that the show went on. Seriously, I remember just staring at other people, other heads of art organizations that were planning their seasons while everyone was dying, while people were going without health care because they were poor, yet in the suburbs, everyone's planning parties and events. And I just felt so sick just like I do today. How are we able to separate them from us so easily? If things While people were dying all around us, it seemed far more important that the show went on. If things worse than rising gas prices were happening here at home, you best believe everyone would be outraged. But ask yourself, why does it take something happening directly to you to spark reaction and empathy, compassion, and to ignite that fire in your belly that recognizes wrong? Truly ask yourself, do I care about what's happening outside of my backyard? And then share your answer with someone else. Have that conversation no one else is having. worse than rising gas prices were happening here at home, you best believe everyone would be outraged. You might be surprised to find out how many people are remaining silent, simply waiting for someone else to speak up first. For someone, I'm sorry, for some, it doesn't take personal impact to take action. Now, the hope for humanity is kept alive by the cries through the megaphones and the hands holding signs. If only governments around the world could take note of those in the streets and truly act for the sake of humanity. Imagine that the world... I'm sorry. Imagine the world this would be. I'm often reminded of a scene in Bicentennial Man where the governments of the world have been consolidated into a massive world federation. In 2026, voices for change and the betterment of humanity are still struggling to be heard. Politicians can still be bought and influenced by forces both seen and unseen. Our environment remains an afterthought. Meanwhile, calls to return to coal claims over lands that are not ours and senseless violence carried out in the name of justice still persist. I pray we are not too late to restore our humanity. In 2026, voices for change and the betterment of humanity are still struggling to be heard.
