Tasha: Today, ladies and gents, our episode is called Tasty Goodness. Matt: Tasty. Goodness. Together at last. Yeah. I mean, you know, it's just a kind of, it's weirdly consistent of him to be inconsistent. Tasha: I'm so sinister. Finally, we got rid of Luke. I mean we do have this pattern of like can we be delayed by half an hour so I can get out from work and then look he just doesn't appear so maybe that's the omen it's me going can I be delayed? ⁓ Matt: ⁓ yeah. It's like if you need to start later, then Luke won't appear. OK. Cause and causation or causality and causation. Something. What a lovely coinkydink. Anyway, how are you, Tash, apart from the migraine? Tasha: Yeah, exactly, that's it. Yeah Hmm. Yeah. Yeah, I'm all right. had like 20 minutes wolf my food down. I made myself a cup of tea and then come here because I was food prepping for the week as well because like it's seven weeks out to competition for me. ⁓ Matt: Okay, say more about that. Tasha: Yeah, yes. So we have, so you know I'm a competitive powerlifter, right? So for the, if this ever makes the episode for the people who don't know, I am a competitive powerlifter. I've been doing qualifiers, like just like little local qualifiers for like last four years now. Had a year out due to an injury on my leg. So I had to, this is going to be gross for some people, but you have to understand. I had to get the, I fell off a climbing wall. And the way I twisted my ankle was I stretched the ligaments out of the ankle bone. So I ended up with like a perineal tendon sublation, which means that when it healed, the tendons kind of kept snapping back over the ankle. And it was the most interesting thing because every time I walk, my ankle would like snap like that constantly. So I thought this was just new in life. I found I had to get surgery to put them all back in and get the groove deepened inside the ankle again. So it took a year out to let that recover nicely. So now I can do all my pulls again. So now I'm competing again. So I had my qualifier and I have now been invited to go compete at the European Championship, British Nationals. And if I reach top three in the British Nationals, I get to do World Championships this year. And they're all like June, July and September this year. Matt: ⁓ wow. Tasha: So we are seven weeks out from the European Championships. ⁓ I am big on the vibe of I want to be able to say three time champion one year. I'm big on that. I want that. And then just go add up. So yeah, done. Matt: They retire. All right. So what is your regimen then at the moment to prep for these competitions? Tasha: So the food is because of the move and the new lifestyle, new city, stress of moving, new people, new friendships, new relationships, that kind of idea, we are trying to balance all of that with food and training. So food is now down to just focusing on protein, vegetables and a little bit of fat, very little carb. because at the moment I'm trying to balance the amount of times that people want to go out for food. So I'm like trying to keep those meals balanced. Training is three times a week, but it's like squat bench and deadlift up to your four rep maps, 80 % of your one rep max and with all what they call like time under tension lifts. So you can squat, but you have to hold your squat at the very bottom position for like two to three seconds and then rep back up. And you do that for like three sets of four. And then it's the same with your bench. You hold it the bottom position for like three sets of four, for like three to four seconds to rack it. And what that does is it puts your muscles under tension. So when it comes to doing the big, lifts, your muscles can just recoil straight back up. So it's a heavy routine. Matt: When you say, yeah, when you say we, like who's the, we are doing this, who's the we in this? Right. Tasha: ⁓ it's my coach. have a coach. So my wee is just like the royal wee. So it's like me or the people that I'm training with or us as competitors. This is what we do. It's great. So three times a week. This is what I'm managing right now. And yeah, going for going for those big numbers. Matt: What do you do the other days of the week when you're not training? Tasha: Sleep. Matt: So it's like, it's it sounds like it's a very intense training session, then a rest day, then an intense training session, then a rest day, then and then kind of repeat basically in that sort of pattern. But then there's two days off at some point, I guess. Tasha: Mm. Yeah, yeah, there's three training days. So there's technically four days off, but those are mainly work days. So when I come home in the evenings, it's catching up with other people. So like doing the podcast here with yourselves or catching with friends I haven't spoken to back in Leamington or in Glasgow, or going out to see people and build up friendships that way, just kind of maybe going out. They'll have I'll call, be on the soda water and limes as my usual when I go out and just socializing or literally recovering because the job can also be quite exhausting that I come home with migraines and just go sleep. So recovery is super important actually for muscle recovery. sleeping is where it builds the muscles. So you can do all the exercise, but if you don't get a good enough sleep, good sleep quality, those muscles are not going to build and you're just going to be fatigued. So you need good restful deep sleep to let that really recover and heal. So, yeah. Matt: I love this and the kind of what the reason that I'm really quite interested in the way that you train is that we were talking this morning. So I've told you about this, but like one of the things that I do on a Monday morning regularly is I run a group coaching session for people in the games industry who have been affected by redundancy. Yeah, and Tasha: Ahem. Mm. Yeah. ⁓ Okay, yeah, that's right. Yeah. Matt: We were chatting about burnout this morning that trying to find a job is a full-time job. Actually, there's this kind of like, you know, those kind of matrices where it's kind of like, is it urgent? Is it important? Getting a job is urgent and important. And if you let it, it absolutely becomes the only thing in your life. Tasha: Hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Matt: and it will lead you to burnout. how do you actually manage that as a professional, sort of wanting to rejoin the workforce, being dedicated to that process, but all the different blockers that get in your way from like, you use AI to create your CV, they use AI to check your CV. We've been through this before on the podcast. There's like, if you don't... Tasha: Hmm Mmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. Matt: do something that particular day, you can start to feel really kind of like, you know, ashamed with yourself, like that you're not doing enough to get back into the workforce that you're not that you can always do more. So, you know, some of the things we were talking about there is like, you know, taking time off from this, the intensity of the search, like go do something else, be a little kinder to yourself. If you have a day where you do not Tasha: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. Matt: you do not spend the whole day just going through all the jobs and all the websites and all the LinkedIn posts. And it's that. That's how it kind of links to what you were saying there. It's like you have to have these days off. You have to have this downtime to be the most effective person that you can be. Tasha: Hmm. Mm. 100%. Matt: Yeah, so it's a lovely little kind of overlap there in terms of the kind of the training that you do, but also the way that people are. Tasha: it is. No, it absolutely is. Right. You are looking for, do you know what? The world hasn't kept up with the level of exhaustion that we're in. Right. It's such a top-deserve world. We built technology to reduce our time and work, right. But keep our salaries. But now we're just churning out more to be more exhausted. And we're lowering said salaries. Right. And now they're still expecting to be like, no, no, no, I'm sorry. I'm tired. I am over 35 and I'm exhausted. I only want to work four days, maybe do a three, three, maybe four. Mentally, I am a tired woman who wishes to sit down. Matt: ⁓ There is a lot of evidence to suggest that over 40, you should probably only work a four day week anyway. And I'm not getting any younger, man. ⁓ Tasha: Yes, I'm getting close to this. Yeah, yeah. And then it's like, just parsing me, like, did I pick the wrong industry? Because I just want to slow down. Matt: Yeah, yeah. Look who it is. Tasha: ⁓ hey Luke. ⁓ he's mute, he's mute, can't hear. Do know what? When he does show up he's useless. ⁓ shit, there he is, hi. Matt: Cut, cut. Luke: Hello. That was a hardware mute. I got a tappy tappy. Tappy tappy. No, I've got a big tappy tappy. I've got a little tappy tappy. Tasha: Tappy tappy. You don't get a little tappy tappy. Matt: Tappy Tappy, Tappy Tappy. I got a little tappy-tappy. I've got a little... Tasha: Little tappy tappy. ⁓ it's like you've got this really small tappy tappy. have a slightly bigger tappy tappy. He has the massive tappy tappy. Big tappy tappy. Tappy tappy. Matt: Yes, you've got, I've got a teeny tiny tappy tappy, you've got a medium tappy tappy and he's got a big tappy tappy. And I was, I was, I was testing it earlier by going tip, tip, tip, tip, tip. Tasha: Dapper! ⁓ Luke: Did you guys tap it? Tap it. Matt: Pah! Pah-pah! Luke: What? Tasha: So actually here's an interesting question. So we've been talking about redundancy. Matt: Go on. Luke: I'll be the judge of that. Matt: Coming in hot, coming in with an attitude despite the fact that you are again half an hour late. Tasha: ⁓ fine. Fine. Luke: Well, I thought this was half past, actually. Tasha: I went from half 7 to can we start at 8pm and you didn't bother to respond and you fought half 8 from that, No? That's at 8pm! Luke: ⁓ Well, because Tash said, can we start at 8? And I was like, well, that means we're half an hour late. Actually, was half an hour the other way. OK. That would have worked. Half 7 would have been... Tasha: Tash goes, can we start at A? So obviously that means we're starting at half A. Matt? Luke: Yeah, I was translating into British summertime to Eastern seaboard time. ⁓ in Sussex it does, in Sussex it does. No, I was actually putting Ikea furniture together and it was, I was trying to teach Maya how to do it and I was staying calm and I said it's like big boys Lego or big kids Lego and it was quite fun and relaxing. Tasha: No, there's no British summertime that goes half an hour. Look, were you just having a nap? Matt: Okay. Tasha: It's nobody's Lego. It's the ultimate, it's the ultimate relationship test. If you don't throw the fucking door at your partner, you're fine. Luke: But so I'm fine with Ikea, but then she wanted a smart plug fit and I was like, ⁓ yeah, I've got a smart plug. So we started doing that. And then before you know it, it's like Alexa and moving the plug and the cable. ⁓ my God. And then the missus said, why is she not in bed yet? Because I'm trying to make a room call. Tasha: Because Luke doesn't know half seven from half eight. Luke: Yeah, because Luke doesn't have any sense of time despite being a project manager. Yes. Tasha: Hmm... Hahaha! Matt: Well, Luke, you turning up half an hour late has kind of put a bit of a kibosh on us doing the full episode. Luke: Yes. ⁓ Well, I like to be your scapegoat. I'm here for that. Matt: Uhhh... You're not the scapegoat if it's your fault. You are the reason. Tasha: and he just didn't get the memo. Luke: shocking. Tasha: Yeah, you are the problem. Luke: You are the goat. Not the greatest of all time. Tasha: The scapegoat would be me going, look, I have to go and do something anyway. It was really nice chatting. That would be me being the scapegoat. You're just a goat. Just a goat, he's just a goat. Luke: Yeah, just to go. Matt: Yeah, just to go. Luke: I'll take that as the blame for this week. Just the goat. Tasha: Just the goat. Matt: But I tell you what, because I worked really hard on these, would you like to play true or Tasha: Okay. Yeah, we haven't done that one in a while, y'all. Yeah. Yeah. Luke: I guess that's my punishment, isn't it? Yeah, fine. Because of that, yes. Matt: Yeah. Yes! There is, although this bit isn't gonna make into the episode. So I'm just gonna put another marker there. ⁓ I do feel like there's ⁓ a point which YouTube will be like, hmm. All ⁓ Luke: ⁓ so that bit we just talked about. Tasha: Ha ha ha! Luke: Yeah, I'm not sure that, yeah. And our future audience will look back and go, why did we say that stuff? Matt: right, here we go. ⁓ True ⁓ or three games. Two are real, one is fake. Which one is the pig in the disco? Here we go. Are you guys ready? Luke: I was born ready, Yes, but when I was born, I was also ready. I've remained ready. Yes. I've been waiting for today. Tasha: slick. Yes. Yes. Matt: Are you ready now? Okay. You've remained consistently ready. Tasha: He was prepared for all these years. for 37 years. Matt: Game number one. You and Who Else is a strategy game. Recruit troops, improve your skills, conquer castles, and progressively unite the world under one banner. Your ability to come up with a good tactic will be tested. OK, game number one. You and Who Else. Game number two. Luke: I wish. Matt: Nasty Rabbit's Horrible Guide to Murder is a cozy, Animal Crossing-like adventure game where you play as a serial killer who moves to an idyllic town filled with cute creatures who you decide to murder one by one. Game two, Nasty Rabbit's Horrible Guide to Murder. Game three, Solitude, is a game about escapism. You become a shepherd and collect your flock on the way out of your old life. Solve a puzzle in every room to earn a sheep. to find your way out. Game number three, Solid Tune. Which of those is fake? Tasha: I think the first one. Luke: So, solid tune doesn't sound like what it is, right? It sounds like a pretty interesting idea, but solid tune, why would they name it solid tune? It's interesting. They've probably got some sort of logic to it. It's Bob's surname, I was waiting. Tasha: Yeah. Sing it, you lost your solitude. Yeah. I want the second one to be real. Nasty rabbit's guide to murder. Yeah. Luke: The nasty rabbits. And the first one was what again, Matt, sorry. You and you. Again, the name doesn't quite work with what it is, but I can't pick two crap ones, can I? Tasha: You and who else? Yeah, I... Well, I mean, we've never been right so far, so let's go for golf. Yeah, let's go for one. One is wrong. One is fake. Luke: No, so let's be consistent. Let's go for one. Let's go for one. One is the wrong answer. Matt: One is fake. Okay, so game number one, you and who else? A strategy game where you recruit troops, improve your skills, conquer castles, and progressively unite the world in one banner. Your ability to come up with a good tactic will be tested. No, that is a real game. I have snuck the proverbial sheep past your one-eyed ogre once again. The fake game... Luke: Wow. Tasha: Really? Matt: is nasty rabbit's horrible guide to murder. ⁓ Tasha: Aww, that would be a great game! Luke: Wow. See, do know what? The first game, the name of the first game would be a good name for the third game. Because it's you and who else? ⁓ Tasha: you Matt: That's the, there it is. Tasha: Can we make the nasty rabbit skates and murder a real game, please? Luke: Madda. Now you've got to say that again. Tash is actually saying it Madda. Madda. Madda. ⁓ Matt: BANTA! Tasha: The Nasty Rabbit's Guide to Mugder. Can I? Mugder. The Nasty's Rabbit... Hold on. Silence and I'll say it for you properly. The Nasty Rabbit's Guide to Mugder. Matt: Nasty Ravetska dan merta! Luke: Silence. Here we go. Here we go. You ready? Matt: Okay, all right, here we go. Nice. Now, it's Nasty Rabbit's Horrible Guide to Murder. it again. Tasha: We wish for that to be a real game. ⁓ The Nasty Rabbit's Horrible Guide to Murder. Matt: That's enough of that nonsense. Let's move on. I dub thee. Yeah, just going to do that. I'm going to do a pretty compact episode. I'm going to cut out most of Luke. Tasha: To what? To what? ⁓ I dubbed thee, right, okay. Luke: ⁓ I doubt they. everything when me when me when i turned up yeah thanks yeah does luke even appear in this one is the episode name where's luke like where's wall-e Tasha: Just kind of Matt: I'm just gonna... ⁓ Where's Wally? Where's You are sassy tonight. Tasha: Where's our Wally? I'm feeling sassy tonight. This is what migraines do to me. Luke: Wow, you're the sassy one tonight. It's normally me. Wow. It's because she passed her probation. That's what it is. She's got a bit of a swing in her step. Matt: No, stash. The moment that, the moment that, yeah. Tasha: This is what migraines do to me. Matt: Yeah. Tasha: Really don't, not today. Luke: How big is that tea Matt? You keep sipping it. Are you just pretending to sip? Is it like a prop? Is it a prop tea? It's a prop tea isn't it? He's just going like this, like they do in films when there's no tea inside it. Matt: ⁓ It's j- it's massive! Tasha: Bye. It's just making noises now. Luke: Yeah. Matt: I dub thee. ⁓ I think Tash, I think you nailed it. Where's our Wally? I think, yeah, so. Okay, absolutely nailed the shit out of naming the episode. I dub thee, where's our Wally? There he is. Tasha: ASMR. What was it, GPS? Where's our Wally? Luke: I that was our Wally. Thanks. Sounds good. Matt: Okay. ⁓ Luke: building Alex units. Matt: I don't know what that means. ⁓ Half-life Alex? Half-life Alex. Luke: That's what they're called. I was building Alex. Half life Alex. Half life. Tasha: Look, that's not a good way to talk about your housemate, okay? ⁓ Ha for Alex. Matt: Okay, all that is, I am suddenly come over incredibly tired. I don't know if I... Luke: It's because you haven't finished that tea, is that what it is? It's prop tea. ⁓ so I made you tired by turning up, is that what you're saying? So first Tash is hustling me or hassling me or haggling me or she's doing all of those. And now Matt, I don't, ⁓ Put him up, put him up. You wanna fight? Fight me. Tasha: We were having a nice chat, We were. Matt: We were having a lovely chat and then Luke showed up. Yes, I feel like. Tasha: Hustling you, I'm hustling you. How am I hustling you? What money's exchange, Pam? Yeah, yeah, I have. Why I gotta Matt: ⁓ All that's left to do is thank Luke Toombs, ⁓ Natasha Netanyahu, and you, the glorious listener, for tuning in. Feel free to reach out to us at gameprodpod at proton.me. We'll be back next time with actual hot topics and production challenges, more true Orflays, and maybe a Luke and much, more. We will see you next time. Luke: Who? Thanks, Lesnar. Tasha: And maybe I look. Luke: I'll be early, half an hour early. Where are you guys? Bye. Matt: Bye! Okay, good. Luke: Hello everyone, welcome to the podcast. Today we are talking about why I was late. It's very interesting. You'll be finding it fascinating. Tash was talking about some sort bodybuilding or something, I don't know. ⁓ True or Flace, we played another game of that and... ⁓ look forward to hearing your likes and comments. Click the bell. Tasha: Yes. Bony Bollett is powerlifting. Get it right, man. Luke: That was was and and I know I was doing that to troll you. Bodybuilding and something. ⁓ I know I've got to try and get some points back to. No, my points. ⁓ man. ⁓ nothing. He didn't say he's Matt, Matt, Matt. Don't mention the war. Tasha: I'm gonna chuck you out a window. Matt: Are they not the same thing, Tash? Tasha: No! Sorry. What was that? What did you say? What did you say? What did you say? Matt? Matt? Matt? Matt: Nothing. No, but it great. Great episode, everyone. Luke: Nothing, Everything's fine. Cool, time's getting on. Matt? All out of the side eye, Matt? Matt? Uh oh, uh oh. Matt: I said, I'm just asking a question. Okay, I said, are they not the same thing? okay, fair enough. Tasha: What question? Luke: Ducking for cover. Tasha: No. No Matt. No they're not. I will show you one day when I chuck you out the window. Yes, Matt. Luke: Get Matt doing some deadlifts. Get Matt doing some deadlifts. Ooh. Yeah. Matt's quite strong. I remember Matt in his day. Matt: I could do deadlifts. Yeah. I mean, it would be a fairly light weight, but I can do them. Tasha: Can you? Okay. Matt: Yeah, I work out. I'm not like beefy, but you know, I've got some muscle mass. It's just covered in a lot of beer and crisps as well. Tasha: Okay, let's deadlift together. Let's go. I was going say, it under a dead muscle? Luke: Yes, you've got to work off the beer and the crisps. Yeah, that's the way to do it. Yeah, it's an investment. Yeah, yeah. Matt: Yeah, ⁓ paid for. Bought and paid for, man. Tasha: Hahaha! Matt: It's an investment for a cruel winter. Tasha: Mm-hmm. Coming into summer, man, I hate to break it to you. Luke: Yeah, we need the six pack abs now. Matt: It's just a little Christmas weight from the last decade or so. Luke: Yeah, from all the Christmases past. Yeah, it's just a little Christmas past. Matt: ⁓ look at this. It's a little Christmas way. ⁓ okay. That's enough of that nonsense. Tasha: That's what they all say. It's just a little Christmas week. Luke: This was good.
