Melissa seideman: You are listening to Not Another Email Company, the podcast for entrepreneurs who are done guessing and ready to build an email strategy that actually works. I'm your host, Melissa, and every single week we're talking real strategy, real results, and emails that are actually making people money. Let's get into it. So today's episode is about four things quietly killing your email list results. I did an audit and here's the harsh truth of an account. And when I got into her account, I realized that she had a bunch of things broken on the back end of her email system. And that's why I love doing audits of people's accounts. Audits are a really great way to realize what is working, not working on the back end and give you really practical, impact-driven decisions that are gonna make a massive difference and more money on the table for you. So the first thing I realized when I went to her with welcome sequence her her email provider is I learned that there were broken welcome sequins. Her welcome sequence stopped firing three weeks ago under a platform update, and every new subscriber that joined her list got Got absolute silence since they joined her list. There was no welcome sequence. You should always have a welcome sequence in place, three to four emails, four to six emails, something like that, depending on the size of your business and what your goals are. But I recommend having a welcome sequence of four to six emails roughly. Welcoming them to your business, talking about your missions and values, talking about main offers that you offer. Don't be afraid to sell to them, but also connect with them. Welcome sequence needs to bring in value to the subscribers and show them why they join their list and keep them on your list. If you don't have a welcome sequence in place, that's the first thing I would start with. Make sure you have a welcome sequence in place. Whether it's one email, four emails, or six emails, you should have something in place when someone first joins your list so they know what to expect. And don't be afraid to tell them. I will send emails. I will send emails twice a week. I will send emails once a month. do something you can send consistently and that's what makes a huge difference. The second thing I noticed with her email list is she had a dead lean magnet. Her lead magnet was broken and outdated. It had words like subscribe. I never use the word subscribe and in a lead magnet form. I always say join now, get this offer, get this freebie, whatever it is. have language that is not just subscribe to my newsletter and get rid of that language entirely from your lead magnet. She has been promoting on Instagram the entire time, but her lead magnet was broken. It was not working. People were clicking, but no one was getting through to join her email list. So that was a huge, massive error that I fixed right away on the back end. Told her. to fix it. And then you also want to make sure your lead magnet is marking, getting your ideal client on your list. I would rather have a smaller list that's engaged than a larger list that is not. So you want to make sure you're getting the right client on your list, not a larger list. And make sure you're getting the right type of customer. She was also number three with with her account was ignoring warm leads. Her most engaged subscribers, the exact people who are most likely to buy from her list had not received an email for over sixty days. They were going cold and she didn't even know it. and the reality was she was ignoring warm leads. She wasn't sending consistent emails. Consistent emails make a huge difference over time. When people hire us, they often come to us looking for services and want can want to make more money with sales, but if they're not can send in consistent emails, that will make a huge difference. So I really tell clients it takes three to six Six months of consistent emails to really start seeing sales and directing sales to your own site. if they're going cold, she didn't even know it. And that was a big problem. And then the last problem I noticed with her account is she had boring subject lines. Every subject line in a recent camp moving was generic. No curiosity, no specific Details. Nothing to make you want to open it. This explained exactly why your open rates were dropping for months. we fixed these four things for her and before she sent a single campaign. And then we start when she started sending emails, her numbers reflected healthy list from a working behind it rather than a broken one that no one noticed. This is what an audit actually looks like, and it's the type of commitment and planning that gives our clients before we even ask them to hit send.
