Robert J Dunbar: Does your game have music? Yeah, I see like a music volume apply. I don't hear any. Okay, me neither. So maybe it's not just me. I'm not sure if I'm getting audio from this game or not. Let me try playing in single player quick. ⁓ that does it. ⁓ my goodness. Holy f ⁓ that is so loud. Okay, I did play. ⁓ yeah. Okay. It doesn't play it in the lobby, which is weird. I don't like that. Play your sounds in the lobby. Right? This is what, the second week in a row now that we've had a game where we haven't even started doing the episode yet and I've got a complaint. Hmm. Why is your music not in the title screen? Yeah, everyone else has that. You know what? Maybe maybe it's not a complaint. Maybe they do that intentionally because of all the people that complain about when they launch a game and the audio just like destroys their eardrums. Welcome to Coop Chaos, a game life balance podcast. Here are your hosts, Bob and Aaron. Hello, I'm Bob. Hello, I'm Aaron. Do do do do do do. Apparently, ⁓ you just unlocked like a ⁓ a ⁓ map on me. Am I all digitally? You sounded like a robot for a second there. Yeah. Okay, let me try again. I'm Aaron! Hooray! For audio working, maybe? That sounded better. Yay! Hey guys, Bob here. So when we were recording, I heard Aaron's voice come through in this really goofy, like err rr like digitally sound. And I thought for sure it was gonna pick that up on the recording. And you know what? It sure didn't. So I don't know if I was insane. Maybe I had a lapse in my dimensional shift. Maybe I was being communicated with by the alien overlords, or maybe it just came through digitally through my headphones for some reason, but whatever the case, ⁓ it was it was real. It was real to me. ⁓ wait, I'm gonna do something. I have access to sound effects now. ⁓ that might not make sense to you if this is your first time listening to us. If you haven't listened to us before, Co-op Chaos is a podcast about gaming our way through the game of life while being busy, functioning mostly, adults. I mean, we're doing our best here, and we try to maintain our long distance friendships, both old and new, across this chaotic journey of life. Each week we play a new co-op game that's usually under ten dollars. We share some pieces of our lives with you and talk about other games and media and whatever else we feel like in the moment that continue to keep us sane, motivated, and stimulated. And this game we will be playing today will be ⁓ hunt zombies together. So let's go. No idea what to expect here. ⁓ I think it's just a ⁓ shoot things. Shoot things and stay alive. Yeah. Something creepy in the wall over here. Ooh, a zombie. Ooh, ammo. ⁓ there's holes in the wall and stuff. ⁓ wow, there's like a good amount of zombies coming at us, huh? So how's ⁓ how you been, Bob? I have been good. You know, we had our like a hiatus for us recording, but not for the listener, because we preemptively recorded an episode. That's right, we had a pickled episode. We pickled it. We put some peppercorns in there, some garlic, a little bit of sugar, you know. It was a good pickle. Going off of that, last weekend we went to this cabin that my stepmother-in-law, I guess would be the formal title. She rented out this cabin. She did this last year too, which was the first time she had done it, and it was really cool. It's just like on a lake, you know, there's like nice stuff that you can do. Paddle boarding, those little like pedal boat things. It was a really good time. And I cooked a bunch of food for people. If you're on our Discord, I think I sent an image of that. Just a bunch of grilled food. ⁓ the kids got a ton of lake time and sun. So that was the reason why we had to do that pickled episode, because I was nowhere near a computer for the weekend last week. But I I am back now. And besides that, I watched finally twenty-eight years later, The Bone Temple, which is the second of the new twenty-eight increment of time later films. ⁓ yeah, you mentioned that. Yeah. ⁓ we were talking and I didn't even know there was ⁓ the first twenty eight years out. Yeah, so they had announced it a few years ago and the first one came out like say like a couple of years ago, year ago, two years ago. And I actually went with one of my my local homies here. We went to see it at this really cool like old school movie theater in Milwaukee. And it was really fun. It was in a lot of ways the atmosphere felt similar to the original film, but in a lot of ways it didn't. And it was like this new interesting thing. Mm-hmm. The way that it ended, I was like, I don't know how to feel about this. This was not what I was anticipating. ⁓ okay. But then I was like super excited to see the second one because I was like, where are they gonna go with this? Because this is a departure from what I would have expected. I didn't get to go see the second one in theaters. It came out earlier this year. But then it both of them are on Netflix now, so I like, ⁓ perfect. I can watch them. Or like the second one at least. And I watched it and I was like, all right, now I see where they were going with how they ended the first one. I won't give away any spoilers, but there's a really awesome scene that they ended on that is a very strong callback to the original Twenty Eight Days Later film. And I was like even more excited for when they eventually come out with the third one because they're doing It was gonna be a trilogy for these new films. Alright. And then outside of that, I've got the kids. They have a week left of school. I've got ⁓ the last day of classes off for them because now that the fun police, AK the super principal that was at the elementary school, is gone. Mm-hmm. I am happy to report that ⁓ I'm not happy to report that I need ammo. ⁓ but I am happy to report that ⁓ crud, I need two. They are doing the the food truck thing that they stopped doing as a result of this crappy principle not letting them do it. ⁓ no. I think I died. Yeah, I died. ⁓ yeah, I just died. Well that's good to know that you can get overwhelmed if you're camping. It looks like you need to like run around more maybe. I I think eventually we get overwhelmed no matter what. I think it's just like an arcade. Yeah. ⁓ it dumps us out into not not the same lobby again. ⁓ that's stupid. What what other game was it that we did that we played? ⁓ like ⁓ that zombie that other zombie game did that to us. ⁓ yeah, the blood and zombies. Blood and zombies did that, yeah. Yeah. I think that one overall I liked it more than the five minutes that we've played of this, but that one had This it's like the same game, but that one had like base building. Yeah, that one had a little bit more going on. So we've got the the food truck stuff going on. ⁓ there's like med packs and stuff out here. Yeah, we were actually in a room. ⁓ sorry. Food truck. ⁓ I'll I'll finish that and then yeah, so food trucks. So they're gonna have like the fun food trucks and all that. Yeah, we were we were what, in like the kitchen or something? Yeah, and there was a there was ammo next to us. ⁓ but I and I was periodically kind of picking some of it up. But then af s ⁓ sometimes it ⁓ when it respawned it doesn't s doesn't always respawn as ammo. Sometimes it was respawning as health. ⁓ interesting. So if you keep so if you camp in one spot like next to a health or something like and then you pick it up, like it might not be continue to be health, it might be changed to ammo or something. Yeah. Well I like the upstairs here. We got some bathrooms off to the side. We got some ammo over here. You can just kind of shoot stuff coming up the stairs. Yeah. And like stuff is coming in from outside too, which is like like upstairs outside, so that's kind of interesting. Wait, it's it's coming from upstairs? Yeah, there was something it was coming from. I wonder if there's another way to get in. ⁓ Yeah. Yeah, someone came in from over here somewhere. I wonder if they're just spawning in. So let's see, did you have any other ⁓ life updates? No, not really. I'm excited about this food truck thing because it's like, you know, like obviously all like local stuff, right? But it's like barbecue probably. They did like a burger truck the last time they did it, which was a couple of years ago. Ice cream truck, that kind of stuff, so that'll be super fun. I am getting wrecked. ⁓ I just got like destroyed by some vampires down in the ⁓ the stairway there. No, I'm spectating you, but I'm just viewing you from outside of a wall, so Interesting. I am wondering if there's a way for me to respawn you. I don't know. I wonder if maybe you need to get to where I died. I'm downstairs on the first floor. Yeah, let me go to your body and see if I can ⁓ I don't see my body. ⁓ wait, there it is. I see it. I think out on the porch. ⁓ those vampire guys Yeah, they're brutal. Hey, you know what? That's a complaint. The game was hunt zombies together. Not vampires. You only killed I only got 13? That d that doesn't sound right. Okay. Yeah, so this is weird because my only option on the screen is main menu. I don't have like a like a start over option here. Can I just join you? I can just join you. Okay. ⁓ so let's see. Where are my notes? I have stuff. Yeah, what's going on with you? How was your week? You now that you can actually talk about what your full week was like. Let's see. ⁓ the wife and I watched a horror film called Dust Bunny, which was ⁓ it was different. It wasn't bad. It wasn't I don't know I don't know that I'd really call it horror, but it was it was a fun, interesting film that I enjoyed. ⁓ it's about this like little girl who kinda has like a monster that lives under her bed, and she figures out that there is very clearly a Gentleman who is a killer for hire in her apartment building. And so she tries to hire him to kill the monster under her bed. Interesting. And meanwhile he's dealing with his own like fallout from like some like you know big fight he recently had. So he has like hitman and stuff coming to kill him. But it turns out this monster under this girl's bed is actually real. And now he's in the apartment with her and all these Hitmen and stuff are showing up and are getting eaten by this monster. So it was it was a fun time. It was it was interesting. It was worth a watch. I'm we're just standing up here in the attic, staring down at stairs, hearing like these like pops and sounds off in the outside background. We're just sitting here quietly waiting for the zombies to find us. Why aren't they finding us? Anyway, and I killed them. And then we recently watched more of a family film called Hoppers, which was there was a little girl who ends up finding a scientist who is made made a little robot beaver and you can put your brain in the little robot and then go talk to animals. And it was a little animated, like pix Pixar type film. I don't know what company put it out, but it was it was decent. It was fun. Okay. Nice. ⁓ I think that's mostly been the highlights of my week. Okay. Nice. That sounds great. Great fun. We are on to s theme of the month, which is ⁓ I need to update that. Not space and potatoes. Mischief and music. So, sir, did you have a question? For theme of the month, I sure do. So I have a music question for you. Alrighty. And it is what genre or genres do you most heavily lean towards? I think I know the answer to this anyways. ⁓ yeah. And given that. Name an artist or band outside of that genre that people wouldn't expect you to listen to and what's your favorite song by them? Okay, let's see. So I mean, so the answer your ini the initial question, that's pretty easy. I'm ⁓ I'm a ska ⁓ gentleman, you know, a ska girly. And, you know, I like punk. Those are my go to's. I'll listen to ⁓ I'll listen to metal or hardcore I'll listen to anything, you know, I'll listen to some electronic or whatever. I like I'll listen to anything else if it's if the song itself is enjoyable, but mostly like so long as the music's got like some fast paced bits or some comp complex bits that maybe you'll go over some other slower bits. So long as I got some complexity to listen to, like it can keep my brain interested. What was the second part of your question? What's ⁓ somebody who I listened to that maybe people might not expect ⁓ I'm looking for my window where I have my streaming service up somewhere. Where to go? Do do do do do do do stalling, stalling, stalling. Let's see. Let me look at my ⁓ my playlist here. So I I probably don't even engage with music the way most normal people engage with music. I will like find a song I like and then I put it on a playlist and I kinda listen to like the most couple songs on that playlist that I've put on there, like on repeat, until eventually the song like I've drained all emotional joy from it and then I move on. you suck the life out of it. Yeah, I suck the life out of s music. Like over time. Some songs you get more life out of than others. But let's see. I mean I'll also listen to I don't know I don't have like specific bands or whatever I'll listen to with like other genres. But like I will occasionally like put on like you know the streaming service like give me like jazz or give me ⁓ give me some blues or whatever, you know, like occasionally I'll listen to different genres like that. ⁓ I don't know that I have a specific band or artist That I'm like, ⁓ yeah. I mean I do I like the the gorillas. They're kind of I don't know what I guess they're they're kinda more pop, right? Yeah, I would say like they're kinda like a pop rock alternative y ish. Yeah, they're kinda like a mishmash of a few genres, I would say. I don't I don't think I like like they're not a band that I'm like, ⁓ yeah, let me put on the gorillas, but it's like, ⁓ yeah, let me put on that song that they have of this or this song or it's like, ⁓ yeah, that was a really good song that they had, or you know, stuff like that. Individual tracks type of thing. Yeah. And ⁓ same question to you. ⁓ I think I ⁓ again, I think I know your initial answer, but Yeah, I'm I'm an emo girl for sure. Mm-hmm. I've been into emo for a long time. But you know, I also listen to Punk, Ska, all of those other like Subgenres in that kind of vein, post-hardcore. What else? You know, I do like some electronic music. I like ⁓ some like 80s like synthwave type stuff, too. It's a lot of interesting, like modern 80s synthwave out there, which is really fun. For ⁓ artists that you wouldn't think that I would listen to. So there's this kind of like indie folk pop country singer Emily Kinney. Who has some of these like interesting like indie pop songs that I like. And I discovered her music because she was she played a character, Beth Green, on The Walking Dead. Mm-hmm. And they would occasionally like she would have like a few scenes where like somebody would be like, ⁓ like sing this song and like she would sing it and like you know, I didn't even realize that it was because she was actually like a singer in outside of her acting career. And I You know, it's just like, ⁓ you know what? I'll I'll check her out and see what she's like. And she has a few songs that I'm like, I actually like really like this song. So I've got a few that I'll like keep on my playlist that I'll listen to and I'll check out like her new stuff every now and then. And you know, sometimes it's like a little too on like the countryish side for me, 'cause I'm like not a country fan at all. Right. Some of it's a little bit more like pop rock indie interesting to me, and I'm like, this is more my flavor of this side of the music world. Mm-hmm. Nice. What about you? What's your question? ⁓ okay, so my question, let's see. I actually prepared a question this time. Go me, go me. Look at me preparing things. ⁓ okay. So here's the question. There's some setup. Ragnarok is happening. Okay? Okay. Loki the trickster god is readying to set sail on the ship of the dead, which is apparently is part of Ragnarok. I had to look this up. and you are actually have the unique ability to delay Ragnarok for I don't know another hundred years or something by appealing to Loki and putting together a concert, you know, a music concert and ⁓ some kind of gift or sacrificial act to honor the trickster god. So what band are you picking to headline this show and what are you doing as a gift or act for the honoring of Loki. All and as a note, all of the world is behind you. You can do anything like so it's like, you know, the world governments have appointed you like yes, like you are are the ambassador to the world, like ⁓ whatever you can do to make this not happen, like we will make happen. So what who who's headlining this show for to appease ⁓ Loki and what are you doing to honor him as an active worshipper, whatever? Or ⁓ honoring. Maybe not not necessarily worship. You don't gotta worship him. But you do gotta honor him. Okay. To appease his ego. You know what for the headliner? I'm gonna go with my recent favorite eighties synth wave artist, Dream Kid. I think that the sweet sound of some eighties synth could soothe Loki's soul and help bring him back from the brink of Ragnarok. Okay. And The way that I'm going to honor him via sacrifice is Ooh. And it doesn't have to be a s sacrifice on your part. You could be like, the world is sacrificing this individual to honor you on our e for you. Right. That's like eighty stories tall that no one gets to eat. Mm-hmm. Or we're going to throw ⁓ This this celebrity off a cliff. I don't know. Anything. World's your oyster. What would Loki like? Pete Hegseth. We're going to we're gonna hook him up to like one of those like mechanic like engine chain things and we're gonna slowly lower him feet first into a volcano. Okay. Ma maybe we'll lose some listeners over this, but you know what? Pete Hegseth. Listen, we do try to be positive individuals, but sometimes there are people who when it comes to people individuals of power, we're punching up here. You know, we we try to punch up, we don't try to punch down. And it's okay to punch up. And he's in a position of power where it's punching up and he's not a very nice individual. Mm-hmm. So f that guy. I think we should cut in that clip of Dustin saying Pete Heggsith when we did Zombie Army four. Pete Higgsith. ⁓ who is this giant muscly zombie with the machine gun? Pete Hegsith. He's so good. Okay, so yeah, that's ⁓ that's your answer. I like it. How about you? ⁓ so the band that I'm gonna pick to headline is important and not important because the band that I'm gonna pick to headline just needs to be a band that is not necessarily well known. And I think who I'm going to pick for that honor. ⁓ whether they take it as an honor or an insult, ⁓ hopefully. ⁓ not as an insult. But there's this ⁓ band. I I recently I sent you some music of theirs. They're like my new favorite band of the moment called I bel and I apologize if I'm saying this name wrong. Facata. F-U-A-A with a ⁓ tilde or or not tilde, ⁓ accent over it. K-A-T-A. ⁓ Fukada and they are I believe they're I don't know where they are from. I don't think they are originally a English speaking group. They might be, but I they might have some what sounds like possibly Spanish members in their group. I I I don't know if it's Spanish or Mexican or, you know, some other Hispanic type language. I apologize again if I'm getting that wrong, but their sounds right now, like they're a ska band, and I am just loving them. I'm loving their stuff. And they would be the headline because they're not necessarily somebody who's well known. I think they have a good sound. And I based on what I've seen of their, you know, music videos, I think they probably have pretty good stage presence. So they probably put on a pretty good show. And then to tie into that as my my sacrificial act, there would be mandatory attendance at this concert by certain individuals. And it would be like The individuals that would be required to attend this concert would be all the top one hundred artists and they would all have to be like be sitting in the front row of this concert and like have no lighting or anything on them for publicity. Okay. So so all the top one hundred music artists have to sit at this concert and watch a concert that is saving the world by an artist that is not well known and is not them. You know what? I think that's amazing because all of those like artists I I would imagine that the majority of them are very like you know like narcissistic and egotistical, right? And they're probably very like full of themselves at the very least. So what a great sacrifice. Like you you think you're so amazing, but you don't get to be a part of this big event that's going to change the course of history and the fate of the world. Yeah. But you do have to sit there and you do have to actively stand on the sidelines and watch. Right. But you don't get to participate. That's a great answer. Thank you. I I would say runners up for who could be headliners or maybe like like other acts in this show. I mean, I don't know how neither one of us called out after life boy. Like what an apt name for Ragnarok. Right? ⁓ my goodness. He d yeah. Especially with Loki f sailing on the ship of the dead. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. It's like perfect. Maybe he secretly is Loki. ⁓ there was there were some other bands I I wanted to mention I was considering as well. But please finish your thought. Yeah, the only other one that I was gonna say was ⁓ there's this Icelandic band called Sigar Roche and they're they do this like very like ethereal like rock sound that's also kind of electronic y and they sing in like a mixture of like Icelandic and a language that they kind of made up that's like loosely based on Icelandic, so it's like the vocalization sound like Icelandic, but it's not. It's like completely you know, like different meaning and like word structure and stuff. ⁓ that's fun. Like, you know, that would sound like something that would appeal to like like a Norse god, right? Like singing in like a Norse language. ⁓ yeah. That isn't real. Potentially, yeah. ⁓ yeah. So who else had I been thinking for bands? ⁓ my other two options were there was a punk band that I've been enjoying lately called XCOM. But I they I think they might be getting gaining popularity. So they might be too ⁓ they might be too well known at this point. I don't know. My only other option for a band that I was thinking of, I don't actually remember their name. ⁓ but do you remember ⁓ back in the day there was like a punk show that we went or there's some some local show that I I wanna say you went to me went with me to and there was a band That was playing I think they were like a punk band that ⁓ I don't remember the name of the band, but they they were like a local band from Abington and they had a song about Merrimack Cheese. ⁓ Do you remember that? Yeah. What was the name of that band? And they were playing a show with that punk band Twelve Cent and only like two out of the five guys from Twelve Cent showed up and they like, Yeah, I guess we're or instead of twelve cent we're five cent today or Yeah. But yeah, there was a some some band from Abington and they they just hit they were just like a local little local band. They just had fun, silly songs. They put on a good show. You know, somebody something like that to like be the slap in the face for all the other artists. No I'm trying to try to look at it. Yeah. 'Cause I remember like I can hear part of the song in my head. Mm-hmm. I hate that. It's like, ⁓ it's right there. Yeah, it was like Merrimac Cheese, if you please, something something. ⁓ man, that's killing me. Mm-hmm. You'll you'll remember it like th you know, a week from now in the middle of the night, and like you'll you'll just sit up in bed and be like, you know, The Horndog Squaggle or something, and your wife will be like, Ha She'll be like, What are you yelling about? Like you don't understand, Merrimack Cheese, Merrimack Cheese Jeepers H Crackers. That is the name of the band that Aaron and I could not remember. He finally remembered it. We figured out that the Merrimack Cheese song that we were thinking of is from an album titled Squeeze It In and Bite the Burger. And we can find very little information about them out there in the internet. The only other fun fact that I have is that they had a band member named Donut Dan. So, ⁓ rest in peace, J H C. I'm sure you guys aren't kicking around, but if you somehow happen to hear this podcast, hit us up, send us your music. We will literally play that Merrimac Cheese song at the end of an episode. And then you'll be like messaging me, you'll be like, Are we c are we recording today? What's going on? What's happening? Meanwhile I'll be like in a padded cell somewhere. Mermit cheese, if you please, Mermit Cheese, if you please. I'm grammatic, grammas, grammas, grammas, grammas. Did you have a ⁓ a life co op? Yeah, you know, I really tried to prepare for this episode. And the brief moments before we started playing. ⁓ yeah, my life co op this week is my wife. You know, for outside of the obvious reasons that she's just an amazing human being and I love her. ⁓ she is a baking goddess and she made these amazing chocolate chip banana muffins that I was eating before we started recording. And they're elite and amazing, and ⁓ shame on everybody for not coming here and experiencing them. Shame. Shame on you. Shame. Do you have a life co-op? I am gonna give the life co op to the crow bro. I saw at the gas station. Okay. Was at the gas station filling up the ⁓ the work vehicle. And ⁓ while I was doing that, saw a crow come down, was sitting on some trash cans and was just like, Alright. What's good? And I was like, hey buddy, you don't want nothing from those trash cans. Like, I got ya. And like, you know, I had a a container of ⁓ some mixed nuts and ⁓ some dried cranberries. I poured some out on the ground for ⁓ and went back to pumping my gas and the little crow hopped over to where I was and was eating the nuts and was poking its little head around the trash can, looking at me, making sure I wasn't trying anything funny. And I was like, Yeah, man, that's for you. Help yourself. And yeah, Crow Bro. Burder. That's awesome. ⁓ I I mean I mean I suppose honorable runner up mention ⁓ yeah, I guess my wife ha ha just just happened to make us dinner ⁓ last night and it was absolutely amazing. I don't know what the heck we ate, but it was delicious. ⁓ there's so many things. ⁓ they were all just getting stuck. They couldn't find us. That's why it was like field maze outside. I need help. ⁓ here's some help. ⁓ there's so many there's so many amount of ammo. Ammo, ammo, ammo. ⁓ I'm down. ⁓ no. ⁓ There's a bunch of stuff outside, but ⁓ the vampires. You had two of them on you. Yeah, we were doing so great hiding up in that attic. Well that's kind of an interesting thing, is that like if you're up in that attic, like everything kinda can't find you, but there's also no health or ammo up there. Yeah. But we lasted for so long just sitting there. No nothing was finding us. It was like ⁓ One of those ⁓ bugged spots and left for dead. Yeah, and then you know what? And then I had to like get bored and I came downstairs and all of a sudden there were like hundreds of them and I ran outside and they were all over me. They were just in the rest of the mansion looking for us, like, where are these guys? Right. I wanna check out this this maze out here. I'm just gonna go back up to the attic. There's like stuff out here. Looks like you can ammo and health and stuff hiding out here. Yeah. Alright, so your your wife is your life co-op. ⁓ yeah, like wh whatever it was like the wife had made, like it was like there was like potatoes, there was onions and there was meat and it was like there was cheese and it was just like not quite a meatloaf, but a pan loaf. I don't know. Okay. It was good. We are on to Game of the Moment, which we are playing Hunt Zombies Together. We are currently not together. I don't know where you are. I'm back at the mechanic. Running around killing things. Ooh. Vampire, vampire. Get out of here. Filthy butthole. Ooh. I was just trying to find some more ammo. There's some right here. I need help. I got some ammo. So let's see. We are on to game of the moment. I think I already said that. ⁓ this is Hunt Zombies Together. The type of game this is, this is one of those like just kind of survive as long as you can type of games and get a high score, it seems like. Right. And then the number of players what is the number of players on this one? I think this one was up to four. Did you have your info on this? Let me check my your aggregated info or whatever that you had set up and you were telling me about. Yeah, let's see. Hunt zombies together. Ooh, zombie. Yeah, I've got it yeah, one to four players online co-op. It's got a PvP mode, you can play it single player. Okay. ⁓ what was the system and platform for this? I think it's just PC, but let me ask. See, where is that where is that on Steam? Where's that information? I don't know. ⁓ Steam Deck compatible. I think that's it. Yeah, I think it's just ⁓ PC and Steam Deck. And then the cost for this one a whopping, staggering. Ninety nine cents base cost. Yeah, we broke the bank for this one. It's currently on sale, actually. ⁓ is it? Yeah, it's on it's currently on sale for 49 cents. Okay. Yeah, it is on sale for 49 cents. Look at that. Yeah, it's fifty one percent off. ⁓ you could grab this game for forty nine cents. Do you want to? what give us a second. Okay, so the objective in story is don't die. That's as deep as it goes. You're a couple of cowboys, you're in a house, you get a shotgun, and there's zombies and vampires. Yeah, we're cowboy, very generic, no kind of major feature characters. Yeah, we don't have no facial features. The controls are, you know, stand standard mouse and keyboard controls. ⁓ the movement is a little sluggish, but it's not too bad. You do have a sprint. I don't I think it's indefinite. I think you probably have a stamina. I don't see a stamina bar though. If you think the ⁓ the keyboard and most controls are sluggish and bad, you should try with a controller because I did and it was horrible. You immediately were like, No, thank you. Yeah, I I played on the controller for all of like fourteen seconds and then I put my controller down. It's like, nope, this is terrible. Bad experience. The art style, it's not a super it's very kind of blocky, poly pixely style. Yeah. It's it's on the simpler cartoony side. But it's got you know, the textures on it are fine. Yeah. Similar to Deep Rock Galactic, it's got like kind of that chunky, blocky style to it. Right. What do you like? What don't you like, Bob? What would you change? I like There are some like good settings that you can change for like the gameplay. ⁓ I was able to change this to easy, which is why we're not getting swarmed as hard as we were before. Mm-hmm. I think that it's nice and basic. It's easy to pick up. It would be a super cheap one if like you and your friends are like, ⁓ like, you know, we just want like a nice simple game where we can just kill things and be able to talk over it without having to pay a ton of attention. Like this is good for that. Yeah. The price is right for sure. I mean, you're not you're not gonna regret paying for it because especially if you get it on sale and it's not even fifty cents. Yeah. What I don't like about it, I wish that the art style was a little bit more interesting. Like it's really dark in some areas and like the dark areas are like almost too dark to see. Mm-hmm. I I would agree with that. Like I don't wanna like mess around with my brightness a ton. The gameplay is easy enough, gets easy to aim, but I wish that there was more to it, more levels, more of an objective or point. I mean I for for a dollar though, like you're not really gonna have a staggering storyline or anything. Yeah. So I think it just kinda makes sense that you're just going in, shooting and killing things and then once you die you rinse and repeat. Yeah. There's there's no there's no different weapons, there's no loadouts or armor. The only pickups are ammo and health. That's it. And we have this rifle shotgun. Very simple. Which like I think there's an argument for both sides. Like more complexity would be good, but also like the simplicity makes it easy for just like it's a good quick pickup game. Yeah, I can see that. You don't you don't have to think. Mm-hmm. Was ⁓ do you had anything else? You know, no levels. We only have this like one map or whatever. I I think if they were gonna do anything, like give me at least like one more map. Mm-hmm. There's no mini map, but I I don't know that you need it. You're just kinda running around like a very small area and you're mostly just like inside this house. Yeah. It's very like night of the living dead feeling, which is like I I like that side of it. For a game like this where it's like ⁓ like the last stand type of game, it makes sense to not have a mini map because you're supposed to be like, ⁓ we're trying to survive, but you know, not like prog progressing anywhere. I think you could let the kids play this depending. It it's not like super graphic. The blood that comes out of the zombies when you shoot them is incredibly cartoony and blocky. Yeah, it's like watching Game Boy blood splatter on like Mortal Kombat. Yeah, I feel like there's more blood in Minecraft. Hmm. But I mean it is kinda like a scary vibe. It's dark, you know, you're killing zombies. The zombies do look kind of creepy, so there is that. I noticed something. Tell me if you are also seeing this, but when I slowly kind of start to turn towards your character, I start to see your character's face and then your character's hat pops into existence. ⁓ I see that too, yeah. Some like graphical glitch going on. Like it doesn't initially load or something. Yeah, that's kind of funny. I would say, ⁓ let's see, what do I like about this game? Yeah, it's it's it's fun, it's cheap, it's it's easy to pick up, it's very straightforward. It's if you've literally played any other first person shooter, you can figure this game out. What don't I like if you've literally played any other first person game, you can figure this game out. 'Cause there's nothing else to it. Yeah. Like you like you were already saying, like, yeah, there's no meat to this game. I d I don't like the crosshairs. Like the lines on it are like forming an X as opposed to a plus. Yeah, that is kinda weird. I don't know why, but that irritates me. I don't like that there's no true lobby. Like when the round is done, it just boots us out again like that other zombie game didn't. That is irritating. Yeah. Obviously, like this is a slight issue with the pathing where we're s we're just standing here right now staring at stairs. Occasionally one zombie will come up. And we'll shoot at it. But i I'm sure at this point we've been standing here long enough. If we go down, we're gonna get swarmed and die pretty quickly. Right. So I mean that seems like a a game bug. Right, like a navigation issue with the with the mob. Yeah, or they're getting hung up on the environment or something. But again, like you said, for the price, it's hard to be like, ⁓ well, this is an issue and this is an issue. It's like, yeah, but it's a dollar, man, like Yeah, so it's kinda hard to argue the You know, for for a dollar? Yeah. Yeah, it's like it's like okay, like yeah, what do you expect? Mm-hmm. Exactly, yeah. It's like, okay, well this is an issue. It's like, yeah, but it's only a buck. What do you what do you want from it? It's like, okay, yeah. For a dollar's price, this feels like okay, yeah, I've got a dollar's worth of gameplay here. Right. And I don't even know if there's any other games by this developer. I'm actually gonna look that up 'cause I'm curious now. Maybe this is one of their first games. ⁓ I I the I also don't like that the environment is not destructible. There's so many things that I wanna shoot or just like be like, take that random boxer, we're in an attic and there's this rocking horse and I'm like, take this rocking horse and it just sits there and doesn't move. I can't run into it or interact with it. I can't even jump on it. Like ⁓ that's n that's not fun. I wanna interact with the environment some more. Yeah, absolutely. I always love an interactive environment. Kind of like when we were talking about the boxes in ⁓ fish stick protocol and like why couldn't we just pick ⁓ up and drop ⁓ on the portal versus like having to like run into them because they're just like kind of like moving around our characters we move near them. Yeah. Like they were more environment than anything else. Yeah. But yeah, what what do I like about this game? Everything that you've already said, it it's very very straightforward, it's easy, it's cheap. So like we were in a situation where like, ⁓ like ⁓ I don't have any of the games that you guys have. It's like, okay, we can just grab this game for you because it's a buck. It's not a problem, you know? Yeah. I'm looking at this developer's library of stuff and it looks like this is pretty much like what they make. They just make these little like simple cheap games. They have a ton of them actually. ⁓ interesting. We have another one along the same line. It's called Hunt Asylum Together. And it's another like horror one. And it looks like it's the same kind of game. You're just in an insane asylum with like crazy people. ⁓ And there's this other one that looks a little bit more stylized. It kind of looks like that space chaos game, but instead you're like little cats in spacesuits and it's called Sussy Cat. And this one is twelve player. So that's cool. I this this might be a game where we were you and I were talking, ⁓ we had a lot of games where I we feel like on our curator page we might need to make like a new category for like games that we are kinda like lukewarm on and like we might just well like we might call it ⁓ like we've been debating like what to call it and I think we are I was I suggested to you earlier today I think backup games or whatever because This this would be like a good game you know, a perfect example of this where it's like this is not a game where I would reach for as like my first pick. This would be be a game where if we were having trouble settling on something else that the group wanted to play, this would be an easy one where I'd like, ⁓ I could do I could do ⁓ you know, a couple of rounds of this, no problem. Or and it's like, ⁓ well so and so doesn't have it. It's like not a problem. It's like a super cheap game. They can pick it up for, you know, it's on sale right now for fifty cents. And it's it's good for that and it has like it has fun value and like we're sitting here just like you said, like we c we can play a game and we're holding a conversation. This game isn't like a lot of the other ones where we were constantly struggling to maintain our focus between play and having a conversation. Yeah, it it's weird 'cause it's like a like an arcade survival shooter, but it's almost a cozy game just by way of how we're playing it. 'Cause we managed to find like a bugged spot where we're not getting overrun. Yeah, it's like an unintentionally cozy game. Unintentional cozy horror game. So I mean for for that I kinda like it, even though I don't think that's an intended design of the game. ⁓ and yeah, I think I probably could play this with my kids, although I don't know that they'd be interested in it. I don't know that my kids would either. Yeah, I mean it looks like this developer just makes a bunch of these games. We may have to ⁓ check them out and see if there's like a a title that they have with like one of the higher player counts or something. Like that space cat looking one, that would be a good one. Twelve players, I mean that's all of the games that this developer sells are like a dollar. Mm-hmm. So I think it's just somebody that's kind of just making these games for fun, pumping them out, selling ⁓ for a buck and it is what it is. Yeah. Final thoughts, games that sustain. I I was almost gonna say this is not a this is this I was gonna put this game into a like do not pick category, but we kinda like argued our way into like saying it's worth picking up. You know, if this game was like normally like ten dollars, fifteen dollars, I would say like I don't know, but like I could even see an argument like if this game was like five bucks, like Yeah. It's still worth playing it and having something that's an easy one to call on. I if i potentially, yeah. Like if it was five bucks, I think I'd I'd have a dip more difficult time saying that. But for ninety nine cents and on sale right now for fifty one percent off, yeah, I i it it's worth it's worth the price. I I can't say that I can't say it's not. Yeah, I mean it it's a buck. What's been ⁓ what's been sustaining you the rest of the week? kind of already talked about media and stuff, but I am just really, really excited for the next episode of From. Like it's like painful how much I wanna see where the next episode is going. ⁓ yeah. Mm-hmm. But ⁓ is that is that coming out this weekend? Yeah it should be today actually. ⁓ I didn't even think of that. I know what I'm gonna be doing later. Besides that, ⁓ I've just been taking my time through my fourth playthrough of dispatch and deciding how I'm gonna play through that. Mm-hmm. Well yeah, that's pretty much it for me. All right. Yeah, let's see. What have I been doing? I think I played a little bit of some Warframe. So one game that's been sustaining me this week is the Left for Dead 2. authoring tools because as we had been talking about we're gonna try and put up a co-op chaos dedicated server and maybe have like you know dedicated games on there that people on the discord can access potentially or something and the first thing we're looking at and we're gonna try and do is we're gonna try and make a Left for Dead 2 dedicated server because that just seems on brand. Right. Yeah. And so I was looking at the custom map making tools that you have for it. And am currently working on a map. And I'd been kind of just working on it off and on all week. And actually, ⁓ you missed this last night, Bob, but when ⁓ when our regular game night session time rolled around, we spent a majority of it, the four of us, Soap, Milk, and Todd and myself, all ⁓ trying to figure out and upload the map that I had been working on up to Todd's server on Maximus Host. And we got it to work. ⁓ that's awesome. We we got it uploaded and we got it to it's not playable. The map's not playable because I haven't mapped out areas for the bots and stuff. ⁓ sure. There's no like place for like enemies to spawn or anything like that. All the textures are just like this dev orange or dev gray like block thing for like scaling and sizing. Mm-hmm. But it functioned. It Okay. It the the map ran. Which ⁓ And that's a start. Yeah, 'cause apparently ⁓ when you're in in that particular editor, like Hammer Editor is called, if you have an issue with your map and you try to run it, it'll just give you errors and it won't even load. ⁓ Okay. Which at one point I did run into that problem and I had to like just start randomly deleting stuff and ripping stuff out because I was like, I don't know what the problem is and I can't find it. I had some backwards ⁓ progression on my map. progress, but ⁓ yeah, that's something we're working on and that's been sustaining me during the week. Also, you got me a copy of Dispatch and I finally decided to try it this week. And ⁓ my goodness. Yeah. What are your thoughts so far? My thoughts so far is ⁓ you and I are gonna be doing some bonus content at some point in the future where we just do an extra episode, an extra like spoiler heavy episode of Dispatch because we need to talk about this game. I didn't think I was gonna be really into it. And then I got to a point in the game where it makes it forces you to make a decision between like two characters that are gonna stay on your team. And I was so angry. I had to message you like almost immediately, be like, This is bull Like these are these two characters are top contenders. They I don't wanna cut either of them and you're just like, you're enjoying it, aren't you? You're like, do you ⁓ can I cut someone else? And I'm like, nope, it's always those two. But you know, whichever one you pick, it'll ⁓ have different consequences and different positives throughout the rest of the game. Yeah, I was I was so interested. That is how that's how a telltale game is. And you know, for people that either have ignored us talking about dispatch before or haven't played it and are unfamiliar, Dispatch is a game made by ad hoc studios, which has developers from The former Telltale Game Studios, which came out with games like The Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us. The Walking Dead games were probably their most prominent ones. They had five games, four of which were of the same sequential storyline. But the way that those games work is largely story driven. You're watching a lot of cutscenes play out, but you're doing like some interactions, and sometimes that's a fighting sequence, or like in the case of Dispatch, there's like some hacking stuff that you do in like systems. Mm-hmm. You're making choices about how your character is like responding to other characters or things that they're saying and all of these things have an impact throughout the several episodes of those games. So it makes it interesting because they can't make too many choices, otherwise they're having to change the story based on all of that. So like their kind of MO is typically here's a situation where you have to choose between like one path versus the other path, and that'll have different consequences and different story for you, but the main story is still intact. Yeah, the wild story tree they'd have to create and the amount of extra content they they they would have to put in work to generate for stuff that like so many people probably wouldn't even see but if like if they let you do like all the choices, it was insane. Like we like we were talking about the love interest choices and how I was like, What about this character? And you're like, No, you only get to pick between this character or this character as a love interest, and I was complaining about, Well, that's lame. You know, what if I wanted to pick one of the ⁓ one of the dude characters just because I wanted to, you know? Like I want that as an option. Yeah. Not necessarily because I was actually interested in doing one of those choices based on the characters available, but just because I don't like people taking choices from me. I want all the choices. But I understand why they were like they need to limit it to something. Yeah, I mean that's that's how it goes without like any spoilers for this one. But like the first of the Walking Dead games, there's I think in the I can't remember if it's the first or the second episode, but like you have to choose between actually I think in the first and the second episode of the first game you have to choose Whether or not to help one character versus another, and like one of those choices, like it ends up the same either way, and another one of those choices, that character that you save stays with you for a while and the other one dies. So it's like either way, like you pick a character that then stays with your character. So it's like the the whole like choice versus preference and consequence. It's it's just really interesting how they like make the story shift enough. To make it interesting, so like you want to go back and play through and be like, Well, what would the interactions be like with this character versus this one? Or Yeah. It ⁓ Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Yeah. Once ⁓ yeah, once I get finished through my ⁓ at least one playthrough of that game, 'cause it seems like, you know, that just that style of game, like the nature of it, like it's gonna have to be on the shorter side, I would imagine, for most of those. Yeah. And I think 'cause I asked you like, 'cause the the way they break ⁓ dispatch Up is into episodes like you're watching like an animated series. I think I just finished like episode four and I think you said there's eight. So I'm about halfway through. So once once I get all the way through, I wanna maybe maybe go through and play it a second time just so I can go back and like take notes. And then once I do that, I think you and I will have like a spoiler filled episode where we just go through and talk about the entire game. Yeah, absolutely. I think that'd be a ton of fun. And you know, we definitely have some listeners. I know the Lonely Cat said that he has played it before, so some people will ⁓ did he? ⁓ nice. be interested and like yeah and I I'll say like I kind of spoiled myself on the game because I listened to another podcast that just covers like Telltale games and so they did dispatch like shortly after it came out. I was just like listening to it because I I was like man like you know I I wonder if anybody has done like the Walking Dead games and that's kind of how I discovered them. And then they were like here's this new game that came out and you know after like the downfall of Telltale games but there's guys from that that are doing stuff now. So I was like listening to it and I like, this game actually sounds fun. Like I had heard of it, but I was like, I don't know if I want to play it. And they kinda like turned me around on making that decision. I was like, I'm not even gonna get it yet. And then as soon as I like finished listening to that, I bought it on my Switch. So like I kinda knew some of the stuff, but Yeah, it was kind of in in a similar boat where I was like, This kinda looks interesting. I I I'm kinda interested in playing it, but I don't know. And then you just bought it for me. And I was like, Okay, well I guess I gotta try it now and then I tried and I was like, Yeah. That's all I got. ⁓ I think we can wrap it up here. Let me see. I I think I might have one more thing here. All right. I would like to point out that some of the zombies are these weird white zombies with the lips peeled back and this weird teeth thing exposed. Some of them are these this girl that looks like the ring and some of them are dudes in black gimp suits, which I I don't know how I feel about that. Sorry to interrupt I I just I needed that noted for the record. And then vampires and top hats and the people need to know. Yeah. Yeah, they need to know. Sorry. ⁓ you had ⁓ potential emails. No, you're good. I was just we have gotten a couple emails from some game developers to play some games. So, you know, sneak peek, I guess, kind of look forward to that. We're gonna be covering a couple interesting games. You had stuff from RJ, right? RJ gave us some answers on a question. Yeah, I've got stuff from RJ and stuff from Lonely Cats because they both answered some of our recent questions. RJ's answers were from the Backrooms episode. I think that's when we asked this question. And it was when I asked the question about like, you know, like you can have this potato thing and it's gonna give you this special power, but you have to suffer a week long ailment of like explosive diarrhea and or explosive diarrhea out of your nose, like you know, those ones. And he sent us a couple of funny video responses on that and he was like, you know, I was like listening to it, like the one where it's like you have like all the knowledge in the world. He was like, I'm great, I'm on board with that, I love that and then I was like, But like you'd have to suffer through like a week long bout of like explosive diarrhea out of your nose. And he was like and as soon as I heard that I was just like no So then he was like, I can't do it. I can't do the diarrhea out of the nose. So he said he would go with the one where you get to read everybody's minds for a week, but you have normal explosive diarrhea just out of your butt instead of your nose. But he's fair had the caveat of he'll he'll have a support person that can like carry him around while he's suffering, a la like beast carrying Professor Xavier around and the X-Men. I thought that was hilarious. And then ⁓ Lonely Cats responded to our Space Chaos episode. Both questions that we had where your questionnaire was about you can you get a spaced potato, ⁓ you can make any dish that you want with it. What are you gonna make? And he agreed with us about make French fries first and go from there. Yeah. Which I think it's the right choice. It's the only choice, people. Yes. You gotta start small and and then Thank thank you, ⁓ Nick for the ⁓ concurrence. Thank you, lonely cats. Nick's awesome. Yeah, we love Nick. We love you, Nick. Love you so much. Love ya. And then for the other the other question of what flavor potato chips are you bringing with you on your one way voyage into outer space never to return, he said that he would do salt and vinegar, barbecue and some kind of dill pickle flavor, maybe a spicy one. I was like, ⁓ that's a fun one. All solid choices. Yeah, absolutely. So yeah, thank you. Thank you guys for always being top notch fans and you more people should respond to our questions. Yeah, thanks. Thank you, RJ, and thank you, Dick. If you want us to to talk about you and shout you out, answer our questions and we'll you know we'll mention you. Yeah. What did we not consider in one of our questions that we desperately need to know? Yeah, give us a different spin on it or you know, if you agree or if you disagree and you're like, No, your answers suck, guys, and here's why, like, I'll read it. You you can tell me I'm wrong, I don't care. Listen, even if somebody has one of their own questions that's on theme for the month they wanna pose at us, I can't promise that we'll pick it, because if you say something like ridiculously inappropriate, obviously we're we're not gonna read that, but you know Right. Yeah, if you come up with a good question, we ⁓ yeah, we might read that. We might do that. I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't say that. No, I I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility. I think if somebody was like, Hey, I thought of a really good theme question, here it is, I would read it and we could answer it. Alright, yeah, we we could potentially do that. I would say the only caveat is th they have to answer it too, so if they send us the question, they also have to give us what their answer would be so we know right away. ⁓ yeah, for sure. That's true. All right. Now are we do we have anything else or is that I think we're good. ⁓ there's a toaster in this bath. Haha. That's dark. Thank you to Matthew for our intro and thank you to Afterlife Boy for our amazing music that I just love ⁓ more and more every time I hear it. I'm pretty sure he said that he doesn't like the songs that we picked, but we like them. ⁓ yeah, they're great. So thank you to B Afterlife Boy and thank you listeners for tuning in again. Thanks chat. Cha cha cha cha. I feel silly saying that. ⁓ I c I can't I can't say it seriously. But no, thank you to anyone who's listening. Because ⁓ you you make this experience more fun. So we're having fun. You're having fun. Let's ⁓ yeah, take that zombie. Alright. Last stand, and then we'll do the outro. ⁓ I just got ⁓ take that zombie got spit roasted by two vampires. ⁓ I'm down. ⁓ I think I think I just saw them finish up with you and they're heading my way. ⁓ running out of ammo. ⁓ no. I like that this gun has a pretty fast ⁓ fire rate. Yeah. Ugh. No, no, no. only ten shots left. ⁓ no. Two left. No! No! ⁓ go away, GIMP! ⁓ there's no melee! Why isn't there a melee? ⁓ I wish there was a melee! I changed that about this game! I was gonna say that, but like why isn't there a melee button? I know, right? ⁓ I like your characters dancing to the music. Yeah, and yours is like sadly like kicking his foot. ⁓ because you got you got more kills. ⁓ I see. All right. Well, thank you, listeners, for listening. Thank you, anyone that's new and checking us out. you know, let us know what you think. You can go to our website, coop chaos.com, and you can find the links to our Discord, our Steam Curator page, Instagram, our email. Yeah, I really liked it just watching your little cowboy guy just like do do do do do just Yeah, he was kinda dancing to the beat. I'm over here kicking the dirt like stupid. I only got seventy-two kills. I didn't get spit roasted by vampires. Nobody wants to spit roast me ever. Sat cowboy.
