That's gonna make for a great cold open when I was like, We haven't even started playing and I already hate this game. I didn't say I hated it, but you know. So when you first come up on this game, you know, you hit, you know, your menu screen and there's tutorial. And you know, both of us had just happened to click tutorial and we're like, ⁓ we'll run through it real quick. And then once you click online, it says, Hey, you have to play the tutorial first. It's mandatory. Let me run you through that. And it's like, but I I just I just ⁓ okay. And we both now had to play the tutorial twice. I'm annoyed by that. That's that's a great I I would love if developers started listening to our episodes so they can hear us be like, This is stupid, just fix it. If you're gonna make me run through the tutorial in the menu, have it register so when I go to actually play the game, that it's like, ⁓ you've already done this. You don't have to do it again. Good job. I mean, again, in fairness, this is us playing another early access game. So there's that. I don't know if early access is an excuse for making you suffer through a tutorial twice. Fair. But I mean that's something they could change. I think they need to do it. Yeah. Because I said too. Me, random player out of hundreds of players, probably. Just watching this llama float through portals. I am just throwing boxes of things into portals until it lets me out of this stupid tutorial again. I'd rather be back in the back rooms. I'm gonna call him Herman. Herman the Space Whale monster. ⁓ well I mean my my week was pretty uneventful. I think everybody already knows I watched from this week. Actually I heard that they're not releasing episode six today because of Memorial Day and they're making us wait another week. ⁓ lame. Also, I just killed myself somehow. I'm glad I can actually see your choices on the screen in this game. Yeah, that's nice. That was That was one downside to backrooms extractions last week. Yeah. Activate. Let's go. They're not big, but I watched the series finale of the boys. ⁓ okay. And ⁓ man, I loved it. It was gruesome. There was some really great moments that happened, good tying up of certain characters. There was some heavy moments, some good laughter. It's definitely, definitely not one to watch with the kids. Absolutely not. Yeah, that's one of those shows that ⁓ it's pretty ⁓ Pretty brutal. Yeah. It was good though. I think the ending was great. I didn't like that right before they aired the finale, they informed everybody that the spin-off Gen V was cancelled because there are some characters that they basically set up what was gonna happen in the third season of that show by having those characters in the last couple of episodes of the boys. Mm-hmm. And then so now it's like, well what are we gonna do about them now? But allegedly they're gonna have them in another spin off that's coming out. So I don't know. That stinks. Yeah, that's stinky. I hate when they're like they do all this work to set up stuff and then like some executives like, nah, actually. Right. ⁓ let's cancel it. Let's do something else. Shut up, turd. Yeah. Stop ruining our fun pie. Not everything has to be like a smash success. You can have like quiet successes. Yeah. I'm just gonna start chucking stuff down the one more life update for me quickly, just in the same vein of view of the house stuff. One of my wife's Mother's Day gift things that she asked me for was to do some repairs on the front outside of the house so the front looks nicer, which I mean it doesn't look bad, but like I had done some repainting at one point around this big front window and I'm not a good painter, so I got paint all over the walls, of course. ⁓ or all over the glass, I mean. But too also. Yeah, I did I did that, I did all the things, so just touching that up and then get back to your rubber duck. I am going to Fixed up by we have like a front screen door. So I'm gonna take that off. I'm gonna repaint it because the paint is like I pressure washed like the whole exterior of the house last year and the paint was just flaking off of the door. I was like, ⁓ that's not great. ⁓ So I'm gonna repaint that tomorrow. I'm gonna put new hardware on it because the hardware is like this old, like busted gold. Everything in this house is gold. Gold, everything. The light fixtures, the faucets. I'm like, yeah, like what are we doing here? Tacky. Yeah, it's it's gross. So I'm doing black. on those. I did like brush steel on other things, so it's it's all gonna look much nicer. And that's the only other life update that I've got. ⁓ I got you a bunch of objects to keep you busy and now I'm gonna go fill up the things so we don't die. Okay. Did that puffer fish just get you? Yeah I got killed. ⁓ no. So I it seems like the biggest hazard is your your friends. So theme question What do you got? Nothing too exciting. I'm still still working on better questions, but scientists or astronauts or whoever discovers a potato growing on, you know, Saturn or something. Okay. It's a brand new species, but does fall into the t to the potato vein, you know. ⁓ you died. Yeah. They, you know, do all the tests and things, they find out it's totally safe to eat. Are you gonna eat a space potato? Yeah, I'll eat a space potato. And The real question, what are you gonna cook? What's the first dish that you are gonna cook using space potato? You gonna go fancy or you gonna go basic? I feel like you gotta go kind of fancy, right? Well I don't know though, you know, because what's the best test of restaurant quality, right? How good are your french fries? Are they like crappy frozen french fries or are they like good, like you cut them by hand French fries? Mm-hmm. I feel like there's an argument for Having like good quality French fries from outer space. So you some space fries? Yeah, give me some space fries. You know what? I think that would be the best use. Mm-hmm. Yeah, ⁓ honestly, I think I'm in the same vein. Initially I was thinking, ⁓ you gotta you know, it's space potatoes. You gotta do something fancy. For the first first time you're trying it, you want something fancy, right? Sure. But I mean if you're if you're not familiar with the the flavor profile, you gotta you're gonna have to do something to test it out. So you gotta do something basic. Right. And a French fry, you know, you just put a little salt on it. You don't really need much else the first go. Or even like a mashed or just like a baked potato or something. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, it seems like in order for us to unlock anything more, we have to complete the next station. Hmm, okay. I mean, I think we potentially could. It's just difficult because it seems like it's catered to more people. Yeah. But that doesn't mean we can't do it. We've beaten tougher games in worse conditions. And we've also got our butts handed to us by easier games. That's true. I mean, b back in the day, we used to play Left 4 Dead 2 on Expert with just the two of us, and we absolutely obliterated it. I don't think we could do that anymore. Probably not. My heart would want to, but my aging reflexes would laugh at me. Now one thing that I noticed that you can do is you can like pre-fill like the waters. Yeah, that's what I was doing. Yeah, that's what I was doing before too. I was trying to see if I could bring them up to the ⁓ reactor and like have them s just have buckets of water sitting next to it. ⁓ yeah, that's not a bad idea. You can hold two buckets of water at a time too. ⁓ right. I think you throw a bucket of water and it lands on its side, then you just pick it back up. Yeah, and the water's still in it. Is there a way to just place it? Because I still haven't figured that out. No. Just gotta throw placing it, I was like you walk up and it's like it does that highlighting of the area. And then you like, you know, press enter to equip or whatever it is. Right. Okay, so we've got buckets of water ready to go. Where's the oxygen? ⁓ that's up above. Yeah, and I don't think that starts until we start the level. I don't think it generates. Yeah. Which is dumb, but Yeah, they're not generating. Why's it gotta be on a bloating lift thing? That's weird. Yeah. I think at some point one of us could run up there and throw a couple oxygen tanks down and like have them preemptively. What do we got? we've got death. ⁓ Well good to know. ⁓ these magnet things are cool. I didn't really understand what these do. We have magnets? But when you pick ⁓ Yeah, these like they will magnetize and hold stuff. That's good to know. But it's like periodic, so I think you would throw the items that you want to use in with it, and then it will hold them for you briefly. If you pick up the guitar it plays it. ⁓ yeah, it does it plays like a little riff. ⁓ no, don't suck me in now ⁓ Did you die? Yeah. I was trying to throw something in in while the portal was on and I I got too close. ⁓ life co-op is where we're at. Yeah. ⁓ Llama Co-op. You're not my life co-op. Get out of here. You're going out the airlock, Mister. Ooh, we're almost at portal time. We've met our quota. I'm just throwing everything in. Pots, pans, everything. ⁓ Time to bail, I think. Run run run run. ⁓ no. Instead of like a like an Among Us or lockdown protocol where you can have somebody sabotaging things, the llamas just wreak all the havoc. Mm-hmm. Let's see, let's see. What would be my life co op this week? Well while I'm thinking of mine, do you have a life co op? ⁓ I did actually. So my life co op and I'm g because given the nature of things, ⁓ I'm not gonna give the name of the person 'cause I don't have their permission and I don't know them that well. But at work, I am often making calls to technical support. And two particular days in a row, I had some very long calls and I happened to get the same gentleman both times. I didn't I don't know how long the call was the first day, but I know the second day, which I think was the longer call, I was on the phone with this dude for four and a half hours. ⁓ wow. Troubleshooting piece of equipment. And the first letter, ⁓ I'll rename this gentleman to Frank. His name is very much not Frank, but ⁓ we'll call him Frank. And ⁓ I just wanna say that I I said this to Frank during our phone call and you know, I'll just kind of summarize what I said. And ⁓ I said to Frank, I don't know how much your company pays you, but it can't be enough because you are too amazing, sir. I hope you, you know, get a raise and All the things because this dude was just calm, pleasant, professional, knowledgeable, everything you'd want in someone you'd have to be stuck on a phone with for four and a half hours, you know? Just like Yeah. And he got he got me through the thing. He solved my issue. We got there eventually. We got there together. And ⁓ I just wanna say, like, you're a lovely human being. ⁓ I wish all the best for you, sir. ⁓ that's great. Yeah. You know, I'm thinking of my life co op. I've got Coworker I've been working with for quite some time. You know, I'm not gonna give any personal details either because of anonymity and not sure if they want to be called out explicitly, but yeah, we're big on privacy. Yeah. They ⁓ messaged me on Tuesday and you know, we kind of work on like a lot of similar things together and had made this really funny, morbid joke and then like immediately like apologized. And I was like, this is why we're friends. And it just like it made me laugh. And Tuesday is usually like a very busy day for everybody on my team. So it was nice to have some dark humor for comedic relief while working my corporate job. Mm-hmm. So thanks, coworker, for always being awesome. I appreciate you. That's awesome. Yeah. I love it when you get people just being good humans. ⁓ yeah. ⁓ my vision's all weird. I'm am I covered in goo? You must be. ⁓ you shot me with the goo gun. The little Did you this body over here in the corner? No, there's a ⁓ and there's a message. I can't read it. ⁓ where's it sa ⁓ there is a way out. We are playing Space Chaos. Very on brand very on brand. Yeah. For for both us and ⁓ the month. Yeah. I'm pr I'm pretty sure somewhere I even saw a little ⁓ all the little cargo icon things. I think there's a little potato one. ⁓ nice. Filling up our buckets of water. Yeah, very space oriented, a bucket. Right. It's a space bucket. Yeah. Bucket from space. but yeah, this is space chaos. This is a ⁓ type of game. I think ⁓ this probably falls into the category of I don't know, friendslop games is what they're calling them now, I guess. Friend slop, interesting. I think that's a lot of what we play. Yeah, it is. Yeah, I mean, like we've already said this is pretty similar to like lockdown protocol or even like kind of among us ish. Yeah, it's it's a First person do the task or min or task management type of game. Yeah. While chaos is happening. Right. Especially from these llamas. ⁓ yeah, they are they're definitely up in the ante here. Chaos llama. The number of players, I believe, is just I think it's a max of four, which is unfortunate. Because if this you know, if this had a a max of like six or eight or something, like I could see giving it a few more like Points in its col in the pro column. Yeah, because lockdown protocol was more, right? I think that one was up to six. I think it was, yeah. Which was great. And then the cost for this was seven ninety nine, I think, is the base cost. Yeah. I think we might have gotten this in a but did we grab this one in a bundle or was that a different one recently? No, we grabbed this one in a bundle with another game that we're probably gonna play, and the two combined was sixteen dollars and eighteen cents, so It was like a little bit off of the eight dollars maybe. Or no. That's about that's still about eight the eight dollars. Yeah. I don't I'm not I don't know what the the s lowest history is. I'm not gonna bother looking it up. The the base price is under ten, so I mean we're good. Yeah. Objective and story. It's ⁓ task management. ⁓ the story is apparently we're clones run by an evil llama corporation or something. I'm not Quite clear on that part. Seems like the the llamas both cause chaos, but also there are bosses. Mm-hmm. So Yeah, they're like sabotaging us, but they also want us to get the job done. Sounds sounds a lot like corporate America, actually. Yeah, yeah, that that's very believable now that you put it that way. And then the controls. Controls, standard, you know, first person controls. Yeah. This is art style. Like we we mentioned it's like kind of like a cell shaded you just said the game and I've already blanked I'm blanking on it. ⁓ a cell shaded version of lockdown protocol. Yeah, lockdown protocol. Where do they ha list the systems that this is available for? That's a great question. Because I know we w we wanted to start mentioning that. I think this is just a Windows game, but it ⁓ it looks like it's also Steam Deck compatible. Right. 'Cause that's gonna be a things. Well, I th the Steam Deck's already a thing, but then the ⁓ Steam Machine that's gonna be coming out, that's gonna be a thing thing eventually, right? That'll be good. Yeah. Well, I think the Steam Machine is essentially just like a Steam branded PC, right? Yeah, but it's it's kind I feel like it's gonna try and bridge that console gap a little bit for people who are not as computer savvy. Yeah, right. I I think it's supposed to cater to console players. Mm-hmm. So yeah, I think this is just a mainly a PC game. It's early access, so they're probably still developing it. I think usually most games when they're do early access will just come up for one platform and then probably expand because they basically have to like rebuild the whole game, right? Right. So yeah, just PC for this one. What I like the humor in it's pretty good. I think I actually like the art style, this this kind of look more than the other one that I keep forgetting the name of. Lockdown protocol. Yeah, lockdown protocol. I think I like the look of this more. Yeah, it's fun, it's cartoony, and then it's got some dark humor, which is that's a good combo. Mm-hmm. I don't like that it's only for players. I'd love a mini map, but that's always me. I I'll always take a mini map. I would love a mini map for life, honestly. I would that'd be that would that would just make my day. Where is kitchen? What was it? I think I had some other things that I was not crazy about. I don't love timed things, especially when it's like I mean that's the whole point of this particular game is manage chaos in a stressful timed like ⁓ no like try and get it done scenario, but that's not super my jam. Yeah. That's kind of what Helldivers does, but they give you like forty minutes. That's plenty of time to be like, Okay, let me get in, get a good rhythm going. This is ten minutes per level, and I don't I have not seen an option for that to change ever. Yeah, there's there's the only options in the settings are display, graphics, audio and controls. There's nothing about the actual functions of each mission that you can change. Mm-hmm. But that that would be a good criticism though, is for people that are like stressed out with like the timing aspect. Throw in the ability to change it from ten minutes to like twenty minutes or something. Yeah. Like change the difficulty just ⁓ gives you more time or something. Or l or lower lower the number of objects or something 'cause I didn't see a difficulty either. I think it's just the different levels are the difficulties. Right. I think there was a I I found a few little kind of minor bugs. Like I think at one point I I hit escape a bunch of times on the main screen and I got stuck 'cause like the the menu disappeared. And I had to like for force quit out of it. But that's that's ⁓ that's I feel like that's minor. Yeah. 'Cause that's not something you're gonna be dealing with every time. Hopefully they fix that. Yeah. I don't know, what about you? Yeah, I mean, pretty similar to you. I like kind of the cartoony aesthetic. I like the dark humor. You know, there's like periodically in different levels there's dead bodies of clones and there's like they'll have these little white markers and they'll write things on the walls of, you know, basically trying to tell you that there's a way out or like the corporation is doing this and we don't know how or whatever the writing will say. I'm curious if there's more if they actually evolved that story as you progress through the levels, because that would make this game more interesting I think. I would hope so. There's this thing under this llama horn because the llamas will come through the portal sometimes and it says we discovered that this strange object attracts the llamas. ⁓ I wonder if you use the llama horn to manage the llamas, because otherwise they just wander all over. Yeah and they kick you and stuff. Yeah. They're jerks. They're obnoxious. I did like that they gave they gave you the lobby. I really like the lobby. Yeah the lobby's good. Gives you a moment to s ever have everybody get sitiated. Yeah, and you've got these different colored gravity gel cube things where you can throw your cargo in to kind of sort it because they're all different symbols and colors, so it helps you separate them. Mm-hmm. And so there's definitely some like efficiency that you can do for like strategy in the game. Yeah. I like that. I think that's helpful. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I mean otherwise, yeah, the four players thing, I f I feel like this game could easily be a six player game. Yeah. I don't know why they're limiting it to four. Four seems like I don't know, it just seems like they're just kneecapping themselves with that. Despite the dark humor, I think I'd play this with kids. I think that'd be okay. Sorry to cut you off there. Yeah, no, you're good. It's yeah, the humor's not dark enough that I wouldn't let my kids play it. They would think it's funny. And everything's so cartoony that the any of the deaths were not graphic. Like anytime I got I saw anybody die, it was just like they fell on the ground, you know? It's just like ⁓ no, you're dead now. I would play it again for sure. ⁓ I mean I would I wouldn't make it like a a night play it all the time, but like if someone was like, ⁓ like I saw that you were playing this and I wanted to try it out, like yeah, I'd play it with them. Yeah, I mean if someone wanted to try it, like if some if like the rest of the group wanted to play this, I'd be f down for it, but it would definitely it wouldn't be any of my first picks because I mean it's not a bad game, but it's Just like lockdown protocol, you know, it's it's just a slightly different version. Yeah. Like almost a carbon copy slightly different version, like you know Yeah, it really is. It's just like less tasks and a little bit more chaotic. It's just the same game, different font. Right. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. That other game wasn't bad, and this game's not bad, it's just not amazing or anything. Yeah. The disco ball gives you a little music. Shh. ⁓ shot. Yes, sir. Final thoughts. Yeah, I mean, like I just said, would I play it again? Yeah, I'd play it if somebody wanted to try it out. Would I seek it out? Probably not. We've played other games even recently that I find a lot more entertaining. Yeah. ⁓ no, there's a flame llama. ⁓ no. ⁓ no, he's coming at me. I got a llama horn. Come on, flame llama. He's in the portal thing. I'm gonna tr push the button as soon as I can, so just grab as y many yellow cubes as you can and just toss ⁓ because I'm the I this flame llama I'm trying to get rid of. I got gonna push this button in like two seconds. I'm running, I'm running. Run! ⁓ no. I received something in the face. ⁓ Hilarious. And we're out of oxygen. ⁓ no, another fire llama. ⁓ no. Huh. Well, I got him to go into the portal, but I got sucked into the portal too. ⁓ no. How many more things do we need? ⁓ perfect. This should be enough. I wonder if I can just put this whole thing in here and press it. Try. See what happens. See what happens. I wonder if it just the s the gel just keeps him safe. Yeah, it sucked everything off of the cart. ⁓ real and the cart stays. ⁓ we didn't have to move ta take things off of the cart. And here we were taking things off of the cart like a sucker. That's hilarious. Well I guess we can just fill up the carts and then just go dump all this stuff in the portal for extra points. Yeah. ⁓ sh twerking my booty. I got too close to the portal and got sucked in. ⁓ But I think everybody has to individually get to the portal to evacuate. ⁓ this is interesting to note. So since you haven't gone through the evacuation portal yet, I'm just like endlessly floating through it until you do. ⁓ Okay, this is something that I was curious about. Now I can say that I like it. How like you progress each station. It's not like you have to beat it in one fell swoop. Yeah. ⁓ we got explosive cargo now. Catch the breaches quickly or run out of air. good. ⁓ Well we needed more more things to manage. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Look at this space potato. Or is that a space egg? I think it's a space potato. It's like purple egg space potato. With like green ⁓ eyes. Now now we know what your space potato looks like that you had in your question. Or not purple. Pink. Well it's a little purple. It's like a purpley pink. Yeah. That's the space potato that you're gonna make scalloped potatoes or mashed potatoes or fries with. Purple fries. Sounds good to me. Well, yeah, purple potatoes, that's a thing. Yeah. I made mashed potatoes with purple potatoes once, and they looked absolutely horrible. But how were they? They tasted good, but they I I sent a picture, I think, to like our usual group, and you guys were all like, that doesn't look appetizing. And I was like, I know, but hear me out. It's pretty tasty. So let's see. Final thoughts and ⁓ what's keeping you sane? Yeah, so I mean I I think I was. I got distracted. I was trying to do my final thoughts before, but sorry. The game should apologize. Yeah, definitely would play it if someone else was interested in maybe a quick if other people are like, ⁓ I want to try something new, but like nothing like highly committal. Yeah, it is. There's this little thing over here with these buttons, and if you move your hand around and punch different spots, it plays different sounds. Huh. I did play a little bit of dispatch, but I'm, you know, taking like my time with my fourth playthrough. So also I didn't have a ton of time this week to play it, but yeah, it's like ⁓ it's like eight episodes that you play through, and I think I played through like part of the second episode. And now we're just shooting each other with glue that's supposed to be used to Plug air holes in your station. Mm-hmm. So ⁓ a little bit of ⁓ dispatch. Yeah. Let's see. Yeah, I think I I played a little bit of Warframe this week and another early access game that I think I'm gonna try and I I think I want to try and get us to play for the show, but I also think maybe I want to try and give it a little bit more time because it actively has a base kind of level that is like there. Like, yeah, we are now this part of the game is basically just us experimenting to see if like the game like mechanics were viable. Now that we have, we're gonna just expand the map and like make more mission make more missions and everything. So like right now the base game is like relatively small. Okay. And I kinda wanna maybe like wait until they have like a major update or something and then like how'd you get up there? ⁓ but then maybe once after they have a big update or something, ⁓ get you to play it. But ⁓ it is ⁓ Wizard Boy. ⁓ yeah. No, wait, what's the name of it? Secret Secret Agent Wizard Boy. ⁓ yeah, Secret Agent Wizard Boy in the International Crime Syndicate. That's what it is. Yeah, it's kind of like a like a goat simulator or just I already meets Harry Potter. Yes, exactly. Yeah. Yeah, it's been enjoyable. Like how we just turn this into shooting the glob stuff at each other as like a quake deathmatch sort of feel. This this is this is how all of our games seem to end is just us doing something stupid in the lobby. ⁓ there's a button up here. Is there? What does that button do? You just dropped explosives down here and it's ticking. ⁓ and there's more explosives. Yeah, there's all sorts of things to explore up here in the lobby. It says forty five. ⁓ I like that there's like little like Easter eggs all around the lobby. That would be another thing I would say last minute that we just discovered is fun. Hey, guess what? The the timer on that explosive that you summoned ⁓ was up. Woo. Now you turn the power off to the station. ⁓ I didn't touch anything. I think did we blow up the power? ⁓ that'd be funny if do we have to fix the lobby? I think we do. Wait, we but the doors won't open. ⁓ wait, no, it opened. ⁓ yeah, maybe if you hang out in the lobby too long. That's so funny.
