I have been finally updating our Steam Curator stuff, so people should start going to our Steam Curator and looking at the reviews because we've got reviews. That's right. I did a handful last night. I'm gonna do more today, so hopefully we'll be fully caught up in a couple of days. One of the fun things ⁓ you discovered That I was super excited about was ⁓ you found out that if we put the YouTube links on the reviews, 'cause normally like on our reviews we there's a space for like, you know, leave a link to full review. So then you can literally watch the episode from Steam, which is cool, I think, anyways. Yeah, I think that's very cool. So I assume that's joystick button or something. There is something that says like the mission is to weld the vent open. I wonder if that's what these blowtorch things are for. ⁓ maybe. But so kiddos had a birthday recently. I mean their their birthdays aren't really the same you know, in the same area, but they're like they're months apart, but because of kind of where they land on the calendar, when they go on their summer trip, like extended family wants to do like a thing with them. So we don't re so we don't do a thing with them before they leave. They do a little party thing out with extended family. Then when they get back, we do like another little party thing. So they kind of get like multiple birthdays to kind of spoil. But you know, whatever. That's fine. So ⁓ we were having our little we were finally having our little party thing for kiddos ⁓ this past weekend. And I was out at the store grabbing some last minute gifts. You know, I have poor impulse control. I see a small little Lego kit. I'm like, ⁓ I'm gonna get that for me too. Hm. And it was a little thirty dollar Back to the Future DeLorean. Okay. And I was sitting there putting it together and my middleist came up behind me and was staring at it and like I could see him like like looking at it, like trying to like he's like I can see something familiar here but and he was trying to place it and he's like, Is that is that I just sat and watched it waited and he's like, Is that back to the Future? And I was like, yes. Have you seen that? And he's like, no, I've never seen it. I was like, do you want to? And he's like, is that the one that has like the train thing? I was like, that's the third movie. You gotta watch the other two first. And he's like, okay. So I watched Back to the Future with the two youngest. The youngest was kind of checked out, but the middleist that prompted the whole event. He actually sat through it and enjoyed it and Okay. I was like, So what'd you think, kiddo? And he's How many other movies did you say there were? I was like, There's three total. He responded with, That makes sense. I can understand why they made three, because at the end of this one I'm still very intrigued and want more. Right. So I was like, Yes. And more you shall have, child. So that was that was nice. I had like I got to have a nice moment where I got to share, you know. an old thing with a ki you know, a kiddo and be like, Do you also like? And they were like, Yes, actually. So and I got to I got to have I got to point out like the fun little trivial things to afterwards. I was like, Hey, bud, did you r did you re notice the name of the mall at the beginning of the ⁓ movie? And he was like, Wasn't it like Twin Pine Mall or something? And I was like, And Did you notice what happened when Marty traveled back in time at the mall? And he's like, No, what? I was like, when he was running away from the people after he crashed into the bar and he ran over a tree. And he's like, ⁓ yeah, he did. And I was like, And did you notice the name of the mall at the end of the movie? And he was like, Wait, was it single pine mall? And I was like, Yes, it was. And he's like, What? You're like, Yep, he changed things. And like there did. Like all like any of those l fun little like movie things. So it seems like a big factor in this game is not letting the zombies grab you, which I feel like is an easier said than done situation. I know, because everything's melee, because the guns are like good for like one or two hits. Right. ⁓ no. I'm infected. ⁓ I'm dead. ⁓ crap. Well I'll tell you something that sucks. Your sprint stamina and your melee weapon stamina are tied together, so if you try to sprint and then try to use your melee weapon, you're doomed. Shove button is V? Ugh. V? Yeah. Crazy. You know, I will say that having played through ⁓ a little bit of the second game, it's a much better experience than this. Bandages here on the ground. So like sometimes it's like could be a tornado. Like that was definitely not my intention. like like here's the situation from my perspective and what was going through my head and why I made that decision. And he was like, ⁓ that makes sense. And like, you know, we were able to resolve it and like you know, just the fact that, you know, my nine year old was able to express it himself and be like, Hey, like, I don't like this even though like he was clearly having a tough time and I was just really proud proud of him for that, so Wanna give it to the youngest this time and say, Good job, bud, proud of ya. Yeah, I think the pills might only like delay the the infection. Well, 'cause when I did the first aid kit earlier when I was infected, it healed me but it didn't get rid of the infection. Right. When I took the pills, like the infection thing went away, but then I think it like came back later. ⁓ really? 'Cause it seems like it's Keeping itself away from me. Alright, game of the moment. We are playing No More Room in Hell. This is a game. Hang on, I'm trying to not f die. Yeah, so this is kinda left for dead-ish. It's like a another COD zombie game. Like a first person shooter. Yeah, first person shooter, zombie, get through the level kinda game. It's you said it's not on co-op now. ⁓ yeah, I didn't see it on there. Okay, so this is interesting. I just did a little googlings for it. Apparently, ⁓ it started as a Half-Life 2 mod and then they turned it into this game. ⁓ interesting. Okay. I mean I think it gets a little bit more of a pass then. Yeah, if it was just a mod. Yeah, so it's a free game, obviously. It came out in two thousand eleven, so yeah, it's a little old. First person, shooter, survival horror. Action platforms it is available on Linux, Windows, Mac OS, so it looks like it's just PC. Do you know how many players it is? I we were running what at a max of eight before, so it's definitely more than four. Yeah, so I think it's eight players then if you can have a server of eight people. Might be more than that. Yeah, you might be able to mod it. So yeah, what are your your thoughts and feelings on this one? I don't think this one's for me. Yeah, I would have to put this one in the I don't know that I would play this one again. I mean it's nice that it's free. Yeah. But I feel like that's the only perk. I don't like that it is blatantly just like trying to like rip off Left 4 Dead 2 but in a very clunky way. Which makes sense if they're using the Source engine. Yeah, if it was a mod basically somebody was just trying to mix it up. It was never really intended to be its own kind of standalone or whatever. Right. But I I still like it's just it's got some issues that yeah I find immensely frustrating. I agree. Yeah, the movement is sluggish, the stamina is very difficult to navigate through. Yeah, it's difficult to manage stuff that when you don't it doesn't give you like any kind of like bars or anything to recognize like, ⁓ like stamina's like almost done. Like what why is there no HUD? Ugh, I'm dead again. ⁓ no, where do we need to go now? Yeah, there's there's no map. Like there's no more zombies by me. Yeah, they're all standing in front of the crank. Of course they are. Yeah, like the the melee like is feels like a like you can't run into a crowd. You're gonna die. So like if you get overwhelmed you're just f the ammo is ridiculous like how sparse it is for how many zombies there are. Like I get you're probably it pr it's probably going for like a a run and survive game, but Right, but you can't really run in this game. Yeah, 'cause there's so the stamina is so pa penalizing. And it doesn't tell you when it's run out. Yeah, you don't have a health bar, you don't have a stamina bar, like how are you supposed to know like how bleak it is or if you have any chance to keep going? It's just kinda like you go black and white and then you're dead, and like we're on the casual setting, which should be the easy one, and it is extremely difficult. You'd think it should be easy, you know? Right, and it's just not. Yeah, I got a lot of bones to pick with this game, I feel like. ⁓ come on, I'm sitting here I'm sitting here like clicking my f- an attack button, but because my fing ma ⁓ god damn it. Because I'm out of stamina because I'm breathing hard. F you and we're almost at the moment where Aaron is ready to just shut off the game so we can leave. Yeah, pretty much. I mean we might have to just play the second one just so I don't like it just it feels like like I said, I don't like being negative on games, but come on man. Like what the heck? I just turned the crank all the way and then I had to like try and sprint through the door, but zombies keep blocking it and then the door comes back down. Yeah. So it's like you can't even open it all the way to run through. That's stupid. At least this level is terrible. But I mean I don't feel like we've had a good time. We've played what three different levels now. And the the ⁓ man, like trying to jump up on anything too? Like like most items you can't jump up on and like climb over. So you're just like I was gonna try and jump up on the hood of a car, but it's like nope, that's too tall. You can't jump up on a car hood, silly. It's ⁓ come on. Like I should be able to jump on this car, run over the top of it, and instead of having to run through this fing crowd of zombies. Yeah, it's just like way too hard to like get through the zombies. And like your stamina takes like so long to come back up. And like how are you even supposed to know when it does come back up? Right. And I'm already black and white and now I'm dead again. ⁓ my goodness. Yeah, good luck trying to get through there, buddy. Yeah, it's like you go in there and then you turn the crank and you try to run through, but then they start coming through the door as soon as you open it, so it's like you can't even get through the door. I feel like this game is just not made for less than four people. Like we shouldn't be playing it with this many Right. But like we've talked about that with games in the past where it's like if if it's a game that's meant to have like a certain player range, it should scale, right? Yeah, you need to make it scale because if you don't, then you know, not everybody's got a full crew to f<unk>ing roll with. And sometimes you don't want to, like sometimes you just wanna play a game like solo. Yeah. Or like with like like right now, like just the two of us. Sometimes you wanna play a game that normally you play with your crew, but you're like, I just wanna focus and do it solo because I wanna practice or d around or whatever the case and I made it through. I killed a bunch of things and now I'm gonna die again. And by the time I spawn back all the things will be back again. I can't see anything. I'm in the super dark cave area, and now I'm dead again. So yeah, ⁓ my thoughts f this game. No, I don't know. Are we ready to just are are we ready to just leave this one? Yeah, okay, I'm done. Yeah. Yeah, I think ⁓ it yeah, it's a free game, but I don't know, don't bother. I I hate to say that I've found free games before that have actually been good. This one and again, I I hate shitting on it, but it it's a mod. But still it could be better. Yeah. I mean I'm looking at the page for two and it looks like it's It's a different game entirely. Like ⁓ my goodness. Yeah, this two looks good. And you said you played some of it. Yeah, I played through like ten minutes of it. You kinda start in like this tutorial area and then you see a bunch of other people spawn in and I think you just start on like a like a main server and then I think once you get through you can start your own. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So th yeah, ⁓ yeah, that's another thing for this game. It's one of those ones that it doesn't have any kind of centralized server network or anything. It's like You host and then s you know, people can join you. You basically have a room or a lobby and you can set it to public or private or whatever the case may be. ⁓ yeah. Eight players must use their wits and deadly reflexes to survive the relentless forces of the undead. Maybe we were just never meant to play play it with such a small group. But yeah, like we said, like have your game scale appropriately because if we're playing on casual and just getting wrecked, like come on. Yeah. No, I mean we're very good at first person shooter zombie games. Like that's kind of our like supreme crop, you know? And we were struggling through this one in ways that like I I feel like right now if we hopped into Left 4 Dead Two and we played it on expert, we would struggle similarly, which would make sense. But this was on the easiest setting and it was not a good time. Yeah. So yeah. Did we do a transition? Are we into final thoughts? Yeah, let's let's do that transition and then let's I think we we know what our final thoughts are gonna be, but for ⁓ posterity's sake. So Aaron, final thoughts on this game. I found it frustrating and not a lot of fun, unfortunately. The lack of any kind of a map or any kind of way to navigate beyond just sight is something that I don't like in any game. So that was a gripe. The hitboxing on enemies and objects was clunky, the movement was clunky, the controls were clunky. The lack of stamina bars or any or health bar or anything to tell you your any kind of your status was frustrating and the lack of clarity on what we objective or anything. Yeah. I didn't have a good time, unfortunately. It was just it was just frustrating and Yeah, I poop. I don't know that I have anything different to say. It was an infuriating game. It was just not fun at all. Like I could see how it could potentially be fun, but I feel like they just tried to take like a Half-Life 2 mod and turn it into like a free version of Left 4 Dead and it just did not match up. The short ammo was difficult, like not having like access to ammo for the amount of guns, and it's like there were so many different types of guns with different ammo, it was just too much. It's like they tried to make it like more specialized than like where you just get like an ammo cache in Left 4 Dead 2, but it's just like if you're not gonna have the ammo For the specific guns in the level show up enough for the inventory system. Like trying to switch switch to a specific gun because you're like, ⁓ nope, that's not the gun I want because that's out of ammo. ⁓ that's not the gun I want because that's out of ammo. Right. ⁓ I picked up another gun. ⁓ wait, I can't pick it up. I need to drop something else. What do I need to drop? ⁓ let me look at my inventory. ⁓ I can't because I'm getting surrounded. Like, come on, man. Like you should be able to just like drop stuff and quickly pick something else up. Like you shouldn't be you don't have to Go into a menu wheel and be like, ⁓ okay, let me drop this, and then then I'll switch over to this thing. And no, you don't have time for that. Come on. Like, if it you're gonna do an inventory, like press I, let me bring it up, let me see a character that I can drag and drop something to quickly swap it out, like if that's how we're gonna roll, and like call it a day. Like, ⁓ my goodness. Yeah, the whole thing was just a cluster. It was Yeah, I'm hopeful for the second one. I feel like the second one will be better. I think it was better just the little bit that I played. You know, I think the movement was faster. It seemed like you could switch through weapons quicker. I think it's just yeah. 'Cause it's like an actual game built on its own, right? Versus like a mod of a game that kind of turned into its own thing, but was also kinda like, ⁓ Well, I mean, you know, I'd say we got our money's worth, but I feel like we didn't. I I would rather have that time back playing another game. Yeah. ⁓ what's been ⁓ What's been sustaining you or keeping you going? ⁓ just ⁓ Dungeon Crawler Carl. Just reading that. I haven't really played any other games. I did finally charge my Switch because I wanna get back into Tears of the Kingdom because I wanna finish that game finally. But I haven't played it, so but the idea is there. Otherwise we played Helldivers 2 the other night. that was fun and then Matthew and his buddy joined us, so that was great. We got to have some some more fun impromptu hell divers time. Yep. That was good. Good times. Yeah. Been we've we've we've had ⁓ we've actually had like several people that we were trying to coordinate recording with. I can think of yeah, like three people that we were like trying to coordinate like recording things with and like everything was just like, ⁓ can you do this time? And people were like, ⁓ I'm only available this time. I'm like, ⁓ come on. Yeah. Your schedule's just too tight this week specifically but ⁓ but I mean that's not people's fault like everybody's busy I get it like it's not it's not their fault or anything like that. I'm just just like ⁓ come on give me a break give me a break universe yeah now we'll we'll catch up with people and we'll we'll get to do some recording and stuff soon. But we got we got spooky things planned for October. We're gonna try and do all spooky games. Yeah we're gonna do all fun creepy games. This one was creepy in terms of it's like Hit factor, so that was mortifying. But ⁓ yeah. No, I think you know, if there's something positive to be said about this, it did spark the idea to turn into the second game, which still seems to be very popular. So I see that on the store page a lot. Yeah, I mean you can even make that argument for Lefford at one and two, right? Like the first game was good, the second game was just so much better because of the new mechanics and stuff they introduced. Yeah, true. As far as what I've been up to, yeah, same thing, obviously. Met Helldivers. Yeah, we we like you already mentioned, we we got to play with some people the other night. That was fun. Been playing a little bit, been trying to 'cause, you know, hell all right, we we I don't know if we're still waiting for like a big update or not from Helldivers. They had ⁓ they dropped their new whatchamadoodle ⁓ war bond or whatever. ⁓ yeah, it it had some neat things in it, but you know. Nothing that I think is game changing for me at least in terms of my play styles. So I'm like, ⁓ okay. Unless you're gonna come out with like an a new big mechanic, I'll come back when ⁓ I can start making ⁓ some progress in another war bond or whatever. Been trying to play a little bit more of Star Trek Online. ⁓ I I had s I saw somebody streaming that the other day and I was like, ⁓ man, I haven't played that one in a hot minute. Let me see. I still gotta try and get you into that somehow. That cause I mean Out of every other game in my library, I'm pretty sure that's the one that I have the most hours on. I have well over five thousand six hundred hours on that game. That game's older than some of my kids. I've been playing that game longer than some of my kids have been alive. Yeah. I already have an account. And then yeah, you you had you had started playing and never made it through the tutorial we 'cause we were like, Come on, Bob, just get through the tutorial and you're like, like I I d 'cause it was like it it It's not like other tutorials. Like it's it's a tutorial that runs you like five through five or six missions. You gotta like like it is it is like a beefy tutorial for that game. Yeah, it takes a hot minute. So if you if you don't have somebody of the same player level to run through through it with you, it's kinda like, ugh, it can be a bit much. So I think you were trying to run through it, you had like gotten close to the end and you're like, Yeah, yeah, I'll finish it at some point and then like we kn never picked it back up. So we never got to play with you 'cause ⁓ I never got you through the tutorial, but I think I'm think depending on what faction you start, you can have different players like play with you through it. Yeah. So that's something that I gotta get you to play. There's another one that I'm super excited to get you to play that is not out yet. It's just on like a demo. I won't mention it yet because it's ⁓ it's still in like it's not even an early access, it's just in ⁓ beta or alpha or whatever it is. So the game that I've played, like I've already gotten to a point in the quest system where it's like I can't progress any further and I don't know if it's I don't know if it's broken or they just haven't written more. Yeah. But then I found out there's all this exploration that I haven't done and I've been run just kind of running around to doing random stuff, which I think is what the original concept of the game was. So I will share and reveal with the audience what that is at a later date because I believe we're gonna get to play it for the podcast, but I gotta coordinate with persons who are involved with that game. Thus one of the people I was trying to coordinate with. Absolutely. That should be fun. Yeah. So s see I I just got to play start playing that game a little bit more recently. So that's been fun. And I think that's all I got. Okay. Yeah. Think we're good to wrap? I think we are. Let's see, did we I might have had a thing I wanted to mention and I don't remember what it is. ⁓ yeah, we mentioned the the curator. We did a lot of updating stuff on the curator page. ⁓ yeah guys. But if you look at the game when you're looking at our curator page when it just lists all of the games that we've done, I think it will play embedded in that page. Right. So it's it so it's a little ⁓ Steam's interface is a little all over the place. But it's the you know, that's still something people can do. So check it out if you if you want.
