Scynthea Ratliff: You have worked hard to build a successful life. You have managed responsibilities, exceeded expectations, but life gets so full you lose sight of what you wanted from it to begin with. You begin to question, is this the life I want? It's hard to determine. Do you want more time, more freedom, more meaning, work you enjoy? Does the life you're living today support who you're becoming? Are you prepared for what comes next? Today is an opportunity to make space for the questions that everyday life rarely gives you time to explore. Welcome to the Life and Career webinar. Welcome. I'm so glad you're here. We're gonna keep today relaxed and reflective. You will not be asked to speak or share anything personal, but I may invite you to respond in the chat. And participation is always your choice. Wherever you're starting from today, this next half hour is designed to help you look at what might need your attention without expecting you to have an answer yet. I would like to set an intention for us. I want to ke give you space and room to breathe. Because this reflection and time we have together is so valuable to help you figure out what's next. Let's begin. You built a life that so many people would call successful. You achieved, you adapted, you carried responsibility and just kept going. Yet a quieter question may be. Harder and harder for you to ignore. Is this the life you want? It is the question that's been following you. Nothing is wrong with you. You are not ungrateful. You're not failing. You may simply have outgrown your earlier definition of success. Today, we will help you understand why this decision feels so difficult and give you a practical way to begin choosing what comes next without walking away from everything you've worked so hard for. And by the end, you'll have one useful shift: a clearer way to judge your next decision based on what you want more of, less of, and what you must protect. Put one word in the chat what brought you here today. Was it that you wanted more energy? Was it something going on at work? How you use your time? You're trying to find your purpose? You're thinking about change or something else. I want you to know that I know this tension personally. I knew how to achieve, but I didn't know how to navigate what I wanted next once achievement was no longer enough for me. My co-founders and I built Uplift All because people who are very capable do not need generic inspiration or point-in-time solutions. They need a structured way to step back, understand their entire life, and make choices that they can trust. We have lived versions of this too. The three of us came from very little. But built successful careers and lives through grit, resilience, focus, and a lot of hard work. We know what it's like to achieve things that you once dreamed about and still wonder if something's still missing. We waited a long time hoping someone would build something like this. So we built what we wish we had. That gap existed and we wanted to fill it. We wanted more than just another book, exercise, a podcast, a coach, or a moment of inspiration. We wanted structure, perspective, tools, a community. An ongoing support that looked at both life and career together, not one from the other. We want you to save time and make it easier for you to navigate life and honor your story and everything you had already built. Help you understand yourself well enough to make the choices that you trust. I used to focus so intently in work and climbing towards the C-suite. All of that along the way, I lost myself. And I can tell you I was deeply unhappy in 2018. I knew something was wrong. I was deeply unhappy and was just lost. There was so much confusion within me. I'd accomplished much of what I wanted. I do what high performers do. I tried to solve it. Deep thinking, many late nights, 2 a.m. mid-wakeups to spend hours thinking and thinking. I tried to solve it. I was a problem solver, that's what I was known for, but I couldn't solve this one alone. I tried everything. Design your life. I had mentors, I had coaches, I read, I listened to podcasts, lots of thought. Each gave me something, but nothing connected the whole picture and provided continuous structure and support. I knew how to achieve, but I didn't know how to navigate to what I actually wanted. And this experience came a part of why we created Uplift Dog. Now take a deep breath and picture an ordinary day like today. But now, five years from now, if nothing meaningful changes for you, what's still the same? Is it the pace, the trade offs you're making every day, the promises you keep telling yourself that things can be solved as soon as you have a moment in time? You keep postponing it because you think there's more time. Now ask yourself, as if you were five years from now, what would I regret not changing? Because the cost of inaction is not only unhappiness, it's time. Another year passes and then another. You can keep succeeding at life that you're increasingly unsure that you want. Doing nothing feels like a safe choice, but it's still a choice. It carries a cost of your energy, health, relationships, possibilities, and the connection to yourself. You don't have to make a dramatic decision today. You need to stop treating your own life as something you will get to later. Think about for a second how you define success five, ten, perhaps fifteen years ago. Perhaps it meant education, advancement, and Income, security, family, recognition, or proving what was possible. That definition was not wrong. It may have helped you build everything you have today, but you changed. Your responsibilities change. The world of work has changed. AI is changing roles, expectations. And what professional relevance looks like. What mattered then may not be enough now. I'm gonna give you a reframe. You can be grateful for what you built and still decide that you want something different. Nothing has to be broken. It may simply no longer fit. Which feels true to you today? Have you changed? Are you changing? Or are you ready for change? The challenge of most accomplished people like you. is that they don't stop functioning when something no longer fits. They just keep carrying more. And that results in this. This may look a lot less than dramatic burnout, but more like your ordinary day. You're managing work, family, health, finances, relationships, aging parents, children, a community, an endless stream of decisions. How many of you at the end of the day are just experienced decision fatigue? Well, people rely on you because you're capable. And capability can hide that very problem. Everyone and everything gets your attention, and you get what's left. And at that point, you've got a negative balance. You already thought, you might have already thought about what you want. And the issue may not lack intelligence or motivation. It may be a lack of protected space, a way for you to see the whole picture, and permission for yourself. To be a part of the equation. This is your first breakthrough moment that you don't have a clarity problem. You have a space and perspective and a decision process problem. And when that continues long enough, there is a gap that begins to grow. Imagine one side of this is the life that you're living today, and the other side is the life that you actually want. Think about your life as a whole. Work, your relationships, time, energy, your health, fulfillment, the way that you spend your days. Where do you notice your biggest gap? You might not have one problem. You might have a growing gap between the life that you are living and the life you actually want. And that's why it's so hard to explain. Because nothing's broken per se. You're still performing, still achieving, you're still getting things done, but something no longer feels aligned to what you actually want. And you don't have to be in crisis to pay attention to this gap. You do not have to wait until something breaks. The gap itself is information for you. What did you notice? Without overthinking it, what is one word that describes what you noticed? You may not know yet what needs to change. You might not know yet what the other side looks like. But start noticing the gap that exists is just the beginning. And once we notice the gap, the interesting question that comes to mind is why can people so capable at solving problems find this one particularly difficult to solve? What feels hardest right now? Is it knowing what you want, finding time, making that change, choosing between competing priorities or actually falling through? Notice what is not on the list. None of these answers say that you are not capable enough. You are amongst people who solve complex problems every day, make consequential decisions, manage competing priorities, get things done. Yet the question about what do I want in my own life is surprisingly difficult. Do you know why? This is a paradox. What if it is not hard because you're missing a skill? What if the qualities that created your success that brought you to today are the ones keeping you from the path that you did not consciously choose? Let's look at the five strengths and see how it can quietly become traps. The very qualities that help you succeed can also keep you stuck. Achievement taught you to pursue the next milestone. And the hidden cost is that you never pause long enough to ask whether the milestone still matters. You barely celebrated the milestone you achieved, and you have another challenge in front of you. Responsibility. Because you got so good at being dependable. People relied on you. And the hidden cost is that everyone else becomes a priority. Ambitions help you create opportunities. The hidden cost of that. Is is it enough can just remain out of reach so you keep going for more. Your competence made you the person that people trust most. And the hidden cost is that you keep carrying what others believe only you can handle. This one, this last one is the one that I fell into the trap that was probably my biggest trap. Busyness proves that you're needed. The hidden cost is you lose the space to hear what you actually need. Which one is the most likely to keep you on autopilot? Put that word in the chat. These strengths are not the enemy. You don't have to choose to be less driven or less responsible or less capable. You just need a way to direct those strengths towards a life that you consciously choose. And you're not stuck because you're failing. You're stuck because the way that you got here by itself cannot take you to where you want to go next. Most people respond by focusing on what they can escape. That is not the same as knowing what you want. You may not know exactly what you do not want. You know you don't want that pace, the politics, the travel, the constant pressure, or another five years to feel the same. But knowing what you want to leave is not the same as knowing what you want to create. High achievers make decisions fast. They jump directly to decision. And we see that as a common mistake. Should I stay or should I leave? Should I change careers? Should I take a promotion? Should I start something else? Should I scale back? That puts an enormous pressure on the one decision before you've defined a life. that you want and what you want it to actually provide to you. So before asking what should I do next, I challenge you to ask the question, what do I want my life to feel like and make possible? This is not an abstract reflection. It gives you criteria for evaluating real choices. And without those criteria, it's easy to optimize the wrong thing. Most of us are excellent at optimizing parts of life. If work feels wrong, you go look for a better job. If you choose the wrong job, you're probably in it for at least a year, maybe a few. And if we're overwhelmed, we try to improve time management. If we're exhausted, we work on sleeping or exercising. And if we want balance, we try to set a boundary. But life does not operate in separate boxes. A promotion may improve income and reduce time. Flexibility can matter more than a title. A career decision can change energy, relationships, health, identity, and financial security all at once. But if you only optimize one painful part, you can become very effective at improving something that no longer is taking you to where you want to go. Do not begin with asking how to improve one part. Begin by understanding what you want from the whole. Then decide what role does work, money, time, health, and relationship should play. We're gonna give you one instrument you can use immediately today. Take out a sheet of paper and let's make three columns. The three columns say more, less, and keep. What do you want more of in your actual week? Not what sounds impressive. What would materially improve your life? Some examples are more freedom, more meaningful work, creative time, energy, connection. Just room to think? And what do you want less of? Could it be meetings? Travel? Urgency or politics? A decision that doesn't belong to you? And what do you want to keep or protect? Is it financial security, your relationships, your identity, relevance, your health? Or something you worked hard to build. Take a minute to fill in at least one to two things in each of these com columns. Now take that and fill in this sentence. My next decision should give me more. Bless and protect. This sentence is not your entire plan, it's your decision filter. You do not need to have a perfect answer to create this useful criteria. Once you know the criteria, the possibilities become easier to evaluate and decisions become a little less reactive. This kind of shift and breakthrough we built inside of our cohort experience. You built a first filter for your next decision. That is how meaningful change begins, not with certainty, but with a better question and a next step that you trust. If a part of you was worried that exploring means blowing up your life, it does not. Exploration is not commitment. It's how you stop making reactive choices. A part of you probably says this isn't urgent. Remember that five year picture because time will pass, whether you choose intentionally or Or continue by default. Reserve your place in the 90-day cohort. Give yourself that structured beginning and not another promise to think about it later. Picture yourself now five years from today. But this time you did not keep following the existing path simply because it was already beneath your feet. You learn to recognize what matters to you. You make decisions using your own criteria. You protected what was important while creating room for work, people, experiences, and the energy you wanted. You do not need to abandon everything you built. You used it as a foundation for what came next. Now compare that future with the first one you imagined. The difference does not begin with one perfect decision. It begins with choosing not to ignore that question.
