Jason: Yeah. So Wemby's a great guy to invest in. So another guy that I chose, because we both chose two players, two NBA players for this podcast. I went with VJ Edgecombe. Some may call him the generator because of his story. Kind of, kind of weird, but like, uh, he was selected third overall, um, this past year. He has athleticism, defensive intensity, all around production. When he made his debut, he made an impact right away. 34 points, the highest scoring debuted. Welcome out collectors to another episode of Boomin' Sports Cards, the podcast where the hobby stays hot and the card stays boomin'. I am one of your hosts, Jason. Alex: And I'm Alex. So we'll be discussing the five NBA players you should invest. So let's get right into it. Shall we? Jason: Let's do it. In this episode, we will be breaking down five NBA players that we believe have some serious potential to rise or have already been established stars. they have breakout performance, increased roles, or just being undervalued in the market. If you're trying to get ahead of the curve, find the value before it spikes, build a smart collection. This episode is right for you. So Alex, what's the number one, the unanimous number one between both of us? by a rookie in franchise history. Right now he's averaging 15.3, 5.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists. He's just a well-rounded rookie. And he's kind of like behind the scenes. Yes, he is top three right now in MVP, but no one's talking about VJ. And as I look at that, that six years core, you got older guys in there. You're get Paul George probably gonna leave in a season or two. You got... Alex: Wembenyama Jason: Big Wemby guy. How tall is he, like seven fours? Man's massive. Alex: Big Wimpy. This guy's massive paws, but he's like, he makes the yolk-edge look like a point guard. That's the funny part. Jason: Joellen Bede, he's pretty much falling apart, unfortunately. So VJ Edgecombe is going to be that cornerstone for the Sixers. Him and Maxey are going to be that duo that's going to run that team for a while. And I can see him make a huge impact in the next couple of years. Make that leap to like 20 points. Make that leap to more assists, more rebounds. ⁓ I think he's a fantastic player. What's your thoughts on VJ Edgecombe, Alex? Massive. Alex: Yeah. Jason: Dude, he's insane. Like, he just gets rebounds over people's backs. It's insane. Alex: He doesn't have the jump to block, that's the funny part. Jason: Yeah, he's just long as hell. So yeah, he's lived up to the hype. He's exceeded like anything that came when they drafted him. He's a generational talent. He's only 22 years old, dominant both ways. He's probably going to win Defensive Player of the Year. And he's like in the running for MVP. I think he's like second behind Shay. But he's a tank. 24.9 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists per game. Alex: He's number three in the the votes for rookie of the year, so he's not falling behind anybody and he's performing well He's one of those guys that it's gonna be around for the next ten years especially for the 76 years with a Tarex maxi I'm gonna say Jeremy King, but he's gone now And then all right, uh and beads gonna be gone so hopefully he does anything now and then Paul George's pot George Jason: and three blocks per game. Three blocks per game is insane. Alex: That is for saying that's, that's hard to get. Like if you see a regular player do that, it's hard to get enough of him. It's like a regular night for him. It was like, all right, cool. You go, you go parlay on them, just automatically put over for the blocks. Jason: unfortunately. Yeah, he ran him out of town because how good he was. Yeah. Yeah, I feel like he has that All-Star capability because they need scores because yeah, those guys aren't performing as they should be. Very underwhelming season for the Sixers. Right when you think everything's going well, it goes poorly. And VJ is like that bright side for that team. He's been, he does in the Rising Stars Challenge this year. He's just an highlight reel, to be honest. He has some really great plays. He dunks, he... Yeah, bro is hitting like yeah people try to avoid him, but he's inevitable. He's right there right in the middle So if you're trying to shoot a jump shot, he's gonna block that shit If you're gonna try to do a layup, he's not blocked that and you ain't dunking on him either Alex: He's a giant wall. Just a giant wall. That's what it is. Jason: Yeah, so he's number one because dude's super young. He's part of really good team, the San Antonio Spurs. They have the second best record in their division with 59 plus wins. ⁓ He's had multiple triple doubles and double doubles, 40 point double doubles. He is a massive guy, generational talent, and he's already producing. does crazy crossovers. He's insane. ⁓ For my raw cards, let me go through my raw cards. So my cheap option is a fanatical. Yeah, so 50 bucks, VJ edgecom, Tops Chrome. Can't go wrong with Tops Chrome. That's the big hype. That's the first year Tops has the NBA. So I just love that card. It's a different image from what you see across other products. Alex: FNANIC HOLY CRIP He's the next big thing and he just made the playoffs with the Spurs since 2019. these guys are not going to be something that's going to go away. They have Stefan Kass and have a young core Dylan Harper. So overall, don't expect these guys not to show up. I think they'll be in the playoffs in like five to 10 years. Jason: And 50 bucks, that ain't bad. That ain't bad for a guy. Because it's not your basic rookie card, I kind of like that. Alex: It's not bad at all. like fanaticles and I expect the fanaticle would be like 50 bucks. It's for something I thought Fanaticles were up like a hundred dollars because per rookie card Jason: Yeah, the only thing stopping him is health, but I think that comes with experience, with him conditioning better, putting in more weight. That's one of the things I think someone called him. I don't know, I it might've been like Skippy. He's like, yeah, this man is really skinny. He's missing weight. was like, definitely. But even without that man's makes impacts. Alex: Yeah. Jason: Yeah, it's like one of those like, I don't know if it's a case hit. I don't know if it's a just sort of insert, but it's just really nice card and having a top rookie on a card like that would go a long way when you invest in cards. My higher option is a VJHCUM TOPSCHROME 253 Blue Refractor out of 150. It's that kind of like color match. He has that blue when his jersey, not the same kind of blue, but Alex: Did you see that meme somebody made where they Photoshopped his head onto Yannis's body and it's like he put a lot of muscle on it. I'll be sick. Imagine this guy tall and muscly. Jason: Yeah, because Giannis was like that skinny guy coming into the league. So if you can get you should go with Giannis get jacked. Just a really nice card. Shines very well. It's out of 150, so it's numbered. 215. It cost 217, I'm sorry. It's just a great card overall. If I had the money, I would buy this card because he's into great. Yeah, top's chrome. You can't go wrong with it. Alex: You're to see, cause you look at the Yannis's rookie card, he looks like a little kid and it doesn't even look like the same person. If you look at it now, you're like, crap, guy's swole. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, skinny arms just like Wemby. Now he has like massive arms bro. Yeah, so if you can get that, man's unstoppable because he can shoot threes. Alex: Watch him turn, watch this guy turn into the Prime Shag mixed with Dirk. ⁓ my goodness, fade away, slam dunks, threes from anywhere, that's gonna be over. Can't go wrong with a top scrum. Top scrum usually holds value for a nice couple years. They do better than the flagship card. if you're a VJ edge comp fan, might as get a top scrum card of his for eventually go up to the point where you can't really afford it. Yeah. Jason: He's gonna be a problem for a long time. So Alex, so now let's look into the card side of this ⁓ top five, whatever you want to call it. ⁓ What cards are you looking at as for like raw? What's your raw cards? Yeah. And if it's blue, it matches like a six just get a six just fans going to want that to 17. I can see this card doubling in the next couple of As ⁓ for my PSA card, I went with a short print. It is another top scroll. Big surprise. It's a paradox. So is rookie PSA 10 is to seventy five. And for a short print, that is not bad at all. It's. Alex: So, uh, with the Panini losing the, uh, NBA license, uh, uh, previous, uh, Panini rookie cards to co-op value. So, uh, with, I picked up a, uh, Donnerus blue velocity, 2023, uh, picked a one BN, a rookie rated, a rake rated rookie, uh, it is $65 raw, which was one of like, he's not like that the cheapest, but one of his available cards that were cheap. That is not better at though, for $2.75 that's not better. would buy that if I had the money. Jason: Yeah, it's shiny. mean, it's a short print, so not many out there. If you can get a PSA 10, 275, probably closer to 300, but it's not a bad card. And if you think Vijay Echikun is going to be that top dog, which I think he will for the Sixers, that's a card you want in your collection, one you should invest in. What do you got, Alex? What's the player on your list that you would invest in right now? Alex: to get ⁓ But in the next five to ten years I think this card will eventually be over like five hundred dollars because it's gonna be hard to get it's one this is probably like one of the cards that That's gonna be last licensed by panini. So we won't yeah like after today after this year I think finny knee doesn't have license for a while. So makes it even more rare that this card is licensed and it's panini. So Alright. I the corniest man alive by the way. Jason: ⁓ no... Alex: Who do think that is Jason? Let me know. Jason: Yeah, if I was investing into Wemby, I would choose that card, to be honest. That's super... It's not a base card. It's one of the parallels for Optic. It's very nice. It's blue. I love blue. 65 ain't bad at all. For my low end option, I went with... Let me see what I got for this guy. I went to Mosaic. I felt like Mosaic's one of the underrated sets they have. ⁓ I think he's only 19 That's such an old joke now. It's such an old joke, but I like I love it keep saying that to my brother-in-law He's only 19 Alex: Nah, it's Jason Taylor. He's only 19 guys. Give him a break. He just turned 19. Yeah. Jason Tatum. Yeah. Jason. This Jason Tamper. It's one of his guys. We did it. ⁓ yeah, he's coming back. He's back and he's killing it. ⁓ Boston Celtics have been, ⁓ doing the best they can without him. ⁓ Jen Brown has been holding it down, but the playoffs are around. Jason Tannis back. Jason: We did it! Like I went to the 2023 Mosaic 257 NBA debut reactive blue rookie. So we won. We both went blue. This card. This card's $50 raw. I've been eyeing this card. I've been eyeing this one in like a variation. It's a little bit cheaper, but I just love like how much the colors pop. Alex: rogers killies back in the ⁓ msg ⁓ back in the playoffs of last year miss most of the season just came back last month only 15th place so far and he's averaging 21 ⁓ and five assists since returning numbers are solid that's crazy for somebody who just yes ⁓ We are both for this. That's a, think it's a mega box exclusive too. So you can only get this for mega boxes or I don't know if it's a blaster, but it's one of the exclusive things you get from retail, which is kind of nice. Um, which it's easy to get because we're not picking anything from like a hobby box. That's even going to be 10 times harder to get and be more expensive, which is kind of nice. But, um, I also have a, uh, Victor William Benyama, uh, mosaic silver. Jason: That's insane. Those numbers and yeah, he was pretty much rushed back from that injury and damn, I didn't know his stats were like that. Alex: Yeah guys if you think passion moments like coming back soon just look at Jason Tatum Shooting is still in progress, but not fully Not fully covered on the right leg yet But coaches and Scots are calling the biggest wild card in the playoffs card prices are surprised because the injury cloud That's your buying window means his cards are down. I looked at him earlier. I was like, that's not bad a price room for a guy who just won Not one just recently a couple years ago won NBA Finals Jason: there. Alex: I think it's called I have to look at it again, but I have this rookie card or like as from mosaic. But yeah, that's a nice car Jason: Yeah, like I love these cards because yeah, Panini ain't making these cards anymore. It's his rookie year. When someone wants to buy a rookie weapon, yeah, I'm gonna go Panini because Tops doesn't have that license yet. So both of our options are pretty appealing when thinking investment in the future. Alex: And you got to chip his cards down. he, if he looks like his old self and the playoffs prices would jump fast. So meaning that if he does really well beginning of the playoffs, all his cards to jump fast, he, they might make a deep run in playoffs, but I'm not going to say they're going to win the whole thing, but we got to be aware that there's a lot of good teams in the West and the East right now. They got to play off in order to win. But if he does well in the playoffs. I wish I started a little earlier than this last year. If we just started last year, think we'd probably have some of his cards now. Jason: He would have had so many like we have so much like Cooper flag because we're keep opening that those boxes. We would have had so many one piece. Alex: think we're currently with the drive costs we have now, we're currently eating well. I think we. He's back. He's ready to go. So. Jason: I'm gonna say it. I think the Celtics are gonna make the finals in the East. There's just not much talent. Like not much like teams that are hot. Sure the Knicks are always there. But I think the Celtics are pretty deep. That roster is pretty deep. They can go like eight, nine guys deep. ⁓ But Jason Tatum is pretty much their cornerstone because as soon as he came in, would fit like a glove. Yeah, but definitely Wemby's a big good investment. What's your high end card? What's it looking like? Alex: So this is a prison card, another penny card, but it's prism, uh, orange ice, uh, $300. I know, right. That is for raw. Right? Yeah. This I think will do well. Um, his other cards are like past $500. If you don't really like the orange ice, you can always get the higher ones like pink, whatever version of the card, but they're going to past $500. So you gotta be careful on that. Um, it's not, you're not always your investment. Yeah, I'll do that. Thanks for me. Jason: For a raw? Alex: Yeah, I felt like you never left. Jason: Yeah, so I'm surprised his cards are that cheap because yeah, he has that All-Star potty agree, that championship. It's insane. Alex: I don't think if you get this card, like if I get this card, this car probably be within the next year, my next year, say maybe maybe by July or June, if he doesn't do well in the playoffs, $500. I think this is at least $500 in June or maybe a little less than that because things rise so fast that, um, I think what if the plan isn't this like his first playoff game too, like this year, he does really well and then like breaks some records or does like a greater performance. So my first card I picked from that's like a budget one that we is the 2027 Crown Royale 28 It goes for $20, which is pretty simple. I was like I was kind of like For a rookie car phrase 20 bucks. It's not that bad So, what do think of the car Jason? Would you buy one of these? Jason: No doubt. I think so, yeah, I think you're right. I really like these. I've seen these around. I did not know they were that cheap. it's a rookie card? Oh man. $28, that's a C on my eyes. It's appealing, it's not your basic rookie card. I love it. That's a dope card. Alex: All his cards are shoot out and I think this is a prime example of when his car is going to shoot up and it's licensed. It's his first year of prism. Um, these are hard to get, uh, because they're no longer made. You either get a final box like a hobby box. It's over two K. So either you buy a box and hope to get something out of it, or you might as just get the car raw and you're not gonna lose any money on. I don't think you're losing any money on this because And if you want to get a grade at 75 bucks, 10, that's not bad. If you want to get a graded one, but. Jason: He wins a championship that goes up quite a bit, at least like 30, $40. Alex: Let's just hope he doesn't say anything corny again. Jason: We did it! Alex: The second one is his prison one ⁓ Picked up the recall it the shimmer it's going Of course didn't freaking there we go It's 115 that's not bad for hundred fifteen dollars for a shimmer ⁓ No, I think is what is this called? It's a shimmer card. It's like it looks like a it's one of his prison cards and ⁓ It's only 115 He's going to be a great player for the next couple of years. Jason: Yeah, I agree. Prism is like that flagship product that they have. When you think about Wemby in a rookie card, that's the card you want. So this orange one's really not that bad for 300. I have his base card as a PSA 10 and that went up from 140 to like, I think it's like a hundred dollars more nowadays. Yeah. So like an orange card, would be that would be beautiful. Mm-hmm. Alex: I he's like almost 200 bucks now. And that's one of his like rookie cards that it's like a like that's a Panini also. So it's one of his first rookie cards. That's really valuable. So you can get this one for a good amount of like a hundred dollars. So if you do really like Jason Tatum and get one for a hundred and fifteen raw, if you want to get it graded at six 50, which is not that bad. Jason: and part of any collection and even investing because when is he going be in the league for a while? No doubt. Alex: No, doh. What's your second card, Jason? Jason: Yeah, his 19 year old addition card. I love that. I love the colors that pop out of it, like those like silver is a little shimmer, whatever you want to call it. Those colors just pop out. And if I'm looking for a rookie card, that's the card I want. My second card, I'm going to contradict myself. I Topps Chrome Cosmic 151 Pink Galaxy Refractor. So I have his base card and that base card is going for like 50 bucks right now. But I love this card because it's pink. ⁓ It's like, it fits in his like character people calling him like the alien. It's cosmic. So it fits into like his player build pretty much. Alex: I know he's 19 all the time, Jason. That's nice. And if you want to get his other ones, they're still down. It's that I only pick this one because all the ones are going for a $300, $400. And you can get a nice one for a certain amount of price if you don't want this one. Uh, the last one I picked is the optic, uh, Donner's optic, uh, is the shock. It's going for. Jason: 207 raw, so I don't think that's a bad price. It's very eye popping when you put that in a collection. And it's one of those cards people will often chase tops and Cosmic's been growing as a brand. So I just love this card when I first saw it. Alex: ⁓ I like this better than the tops chrome using I found the other one a little too plain because they didn't have the license and just didn't like it as much but this looks much better than that and 207 rods at the bed and this is Not his I to say his first tops card, but like it's still a tops card and it's like typically his rookie card, too This would be like his terse top Chrome What is it cosmic card? I think it's much better than the regular tops chrome. She's helping It is going for $36, which is not that bad for an optic rookie card, which is kind of nice. And if you want to get it graded to 155 and then I was kind of like, Oh, was like, wow, these cards are really down, especially these are down optic cards because last soda was one 55 for a 10. And the last 36 was this month at the six, which was two days ago, which is kind of crazy because that's kind of cheap for a guy who just won the championship a couple of years ago. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: like you said earlier Overall, the card does look good tool seven is not that bad. It's much cheaper than most ⁓ It ⁓ have been licensed it would probably be like three times as much Jason: Yeah. Yeah, hot take. feel like people sleep on Optic. When I look at prices, I feel like they sleep on it. ⁓ Obviously there's like Prism and like all these other guys, but I feel like the Optic is like one of the most eye appealing, good eye appealing cards in my opinion. No doubt. Yeah, I got that those little planets around there or whatever it was. looks goofy, it fits that alien character to him. All right. So now we're going to give you guys a graded option. So PSA 10s and PSA 9s. I'll start on this one. So for mine, I went with select. went to 2023 select number 87 Concourse Orange Teutonic. So PSA 9s going for sixty six dollars. Alex: I just think optic is slow down because you can get, uh, well, I'm not going to say you can get, it's easier to get an rated, rated rookie card of a player because for me, um, prison cards are harder, are expensive, more expensive and are hard to get a, like a good rookie card. Maybe I feel like it's wise, but more expensive. But I think downwards optics are a little bit cheaper and more, how they bring them up much more cards than the other one. Jason: probably around the same card, same as the base. The thing the base is like around 50. PSA 10 is 230 so it's not a bad price for a PSA 10. It's appealing, it has like those kind of like wave looking kind of parallel to it even though they call it a tonic but it's really nice card. Orange it kind of fits like that Drizzy he's in the picture in. So it's not a bad purchase in my eyes. I can see that, yeah. I love that card. Again, the colors pop out. Jason Tatum, Ryan Center. Nice picture of him. Can't go wrong. Alex: There were the age of the day, still 19 today. Jason: Still 19 today, that's no doubt. Alex: Um his other cards are above uh, oh yeah, that was a psa 10 155. Sorry Um, yeah, you can get this for 155, which is not that bad and if he does perform well You could probably resell this for like at least 300 if he does really well Personally for me I first selects I'm not a big like person but I Would only get his cards for my like PC if somebody offered or I saw it on the table I'd buy it like very cool 230 for a PC 10, we're doing BNAMA Like license card. Yeah, I'll pay 230 but personally I think he's the only person I would actually buy That's a select card. So I don't really like selects cards much Jason: Yeah. Yeah, he's a rookie. Like, I feel like by the end of his career, his cards aren't going to go way up because Celtic is that historic franchise and I can see him getting another championship in the future. Alex: And then you get like Kenan Brown said, he did get seven. So let's hope they get a second one. Jason: Yeah, it's a tricky product. There's some that I despise, but like that orange, I just love the color of it. ⁓ What's your what's your graded card? Alex: But yeah, overall, Mr. Corny will be in the playoffs in this hope he does well and his cards will go up. think that's one of the things I'm thinking about is that when the playoffs come around, last four teams, they're going to be in it. They're going to have, he's going to show up when he, when they need him most. So with the return of tops Chrome, uh, we got a Victor Mimiyama refractor. Um, it's 30 bucks. Uh, and if you want to get it graded yourself, the PSA 10 will be 412, which is not bad. And this is a license card. This is his first license, tops Chrome card. It's going for a lot right now. So if you want to pay for 412, you could always get the PSA nine, which would be 40. Uh, overall. Jason: ⁓ player, Alex. Alex: ⁓ next player is Kate Cunningham. know right. Big Kade. ⁓ he plays today. He plays today, Jason. Jason: arcade. Heya da numb. Yeah, I found out I had the other guy my fantasy team in the back of and I was like what this man's alive Alex: This will go up eventually, the more like based on his performance, how he does and the awards he gets. Yeah, overall, this will go up, which is not bad. There goes Jason's playoff. Jason: Yes, I'm in the finals chat, I probably won't it. Alex: Fake number one seed, by the way. Jason: Hey, I made the finals. I went full try hard last week, picked up so many players. Full try hard. Yeah, so that's that's our cards that we want. would invest in if we were looking to one B. He is only what two, two, three seasons into his career. So buying his cards now would be ideal because they're only going to go up as he gets more playoff experience as he grows that brand, because eventually he's going to get that Nike commercial, that Nike shoes. He's going to go global because he is French, so he has that global appeal. Alex: He went through the waiver wires, guys, and picked up all the bums that he can. Jason: Dude, I was picking up like five guys a night. Pause. Alex: Yes. Jason: N.B.A. players. ⁓ wait. Fantasy, fantasy. Alex: He meant the food guys, meant the food guys, he meant the food guys, meant the food guys, the food. Fantasy food guys. Yeah, he playing it today after a collapse along, which is kind of crazy. He's been out since March of 19th, so he's been out for about a month. He's ready back and he's ready to play and he's playing in Milwaukee. don't think Milwaukee, didn't he just sit out this guy, be honest. Jason: Arcade, that's a W pick. So yeah, would say buy now of his cards. There's a lot of nice cards, a lot of options out there. So just start buying. Alex: Start up on. Jason: Yeah, the Milwaukee is a falling ship. They're going to probably be rebuilding after they trade Yanis. as for the Pistons, they are going crazy. That's one of the shocking teams. They got the one seed. And yeah, now that he's back, I can see that big playoff push. Alex: Uh was an mvp talks where it happened 24 25 points a game 10 assists per game That's crazy. Uh expected to turn tonight with first the bucks Uh doing games before the playoff start and then when he was out The peasants were going eight and two without him and they still hold the number one seat, which is kind of crazy Um, the team is stacked means that the team is doing well without him. Um, I think with him coming back They might have make a good deep playoff run and that's a thing to look out for he did miss the 65 game threshold Which is makes him an eligible for any awards, especially the MVP. He was every talks Which I think is dumb. I think the 65 threshold threshold rule is stupid in my opinion but overall Yeah, he's back. He's ready to go. I'm hoping that he does well the next couple games but the first I picked up is a prism card of 2021 Okay coming in. Yeah, I know it It goes for Where's his present cards are cheap and I think because He just got hurt too. So the cards did drop a bit It's $24 it's an ice one $24 prison ice rookie card prison does really well we've Jason: Ooh, shiny. Alex: went over the last couple guys. But with the thing with Prism is that they're hard to get, especially if a good player. So when you open these packs, blasters, a box, you get a lot of crappy players down there. It be well in the future. Kade Cunningham, what's in Kade, the number one pick, right? Jason: Yeah, he was the number one pick. He has like that mythic, like high school run where he had like a crazy team. I don't know about him in college, but he's one of the guys like they talk about a lot. Alex: ⁓ But yeah, he's the wrong pick prison cards do really well over a certain amount of time Yeah, okay kind of hamps and it'll really well with that card where you're gonna do really well if you get the cards 24 bucks Pc-10 if you want to get grades 203 Jason: time to purchase him because yeah, he made that jump the second year. He made that multiple points jump. It was an MVP conversation like Alex said. And now that he's injured, he was injured. I bet that price went down quite a bit. So buying now ⁓ before he gets hot that's a good investment. That prism's really nice Alex: I have two of his cards. I got the downrush post our target exclusive. It's a hundred bucks now Long story on that don't get screwed on auctions then Now also have his green Prism two of them. I got a piece a nine and a regular green I'm hoping he does well during the playoffs. They could rise and Jason: I'm sleeping on Kate, I have no cards of his. Alex: You can get one right now, Jason, for 24 bucks. Jason: I think I'm gonna have to after this episode because he's a weird player like he doesn't have like the craziest shot but he's just a big body for a guard. Alex: I find him, he's a dad, he's a funny guy. Overall, you know, like we were talking about the personality makes the card too. I like him as a person too. He seems like a cool guy. Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah, he's very down to earth. I feel like Alex: I don't know if you seen that one video where he's on Instagram live. That was like one of the funniest videos He's like get him off get him off get him off god Damn it. Well, yeah Personality wise I think he's a cool guy. I follow him on Instagram seems like an SK and Besides like like other NBA players. He seems like a guy you could like like shoot the shit away for a bit Like he goes off to do what he has to do Yeah Jason: ⁓ dude, I know, know what about. Yeah, he's not robotic like other NBA players. He's not corporate, but yeah, he seems down to earth for sure. What's your high round rock card? Alex: Uh, it is a, uh, Genesis, uh, 2021 mosaic two or three K coming ham Genesis SSP. goes for $300 last sold last month with a 29th. And that's not bad. Um, I like Genesis. They're hard to get. They're really nice. And then you do to stick out. Um, this is a rookie one. So if you do want to get one great, it's two to six, which is kind of weird. I sometimes things way out, but. You can always get one for a PC nine for 226 or a 10 for 678, but $300 for SSP for a rookie card for him. That's not that bad. And I think this card will do numbers in the future because it's a short print. Jason: Yeah, Shore Prince pretty much color matched, has that blue from the Pistons. That's a dope card, Alex. Alex: Yes, sir. And the last one, the graded one, I had picked a KC 2021 optic 161, a PSA 10, two it goes 205. Um, that's not bad. It's a hollow. Who doesn't like hollows? Uh, you've want to get a raw one, 22 bucks. Don rest doesn't do bad at all. In my opinion, just give it time. And if he does really well in the playoffs, these, you can see these guys shoot up in the next couple of days or a couple of days. during the playoffs. Jason: Yeah, 205 for rookie Cade. Like he said, he was part of the MVP conversation. So yeah, this man has a good future. That team's young. That team's going to be part of the playoffs for a long time. W. Cade. Alex: ⁓ Last notes for both guys both guys are question marks going to and be in the playoffs. Let's be honest about it ⁓ Neither injury is season ending both related back to the situation ⁓ Injury and certainty by window collector. So it's a good time to buy these guys because Well, they just came back from injury. So there's a window where these cards are a little bit lower than expected ⁓ Tatum and Kade both go off in the playoffs, two of the biggest cards to spike off this year. It is high risk, reward. That's the investment right now. But if you just enjoy buying these players at a certain amount of price, that's not bad. PC cards for a low price, that's not bad either. Jason: It's not bad. Yeah, I feel like the two players you chose were pretty like well established already. And they are part of good teams, part of good organizations that are going to take that second leap, take that leap to a championship, ⁓ MVP, leaps like that. So I feel like those were two good investments for players who are already established and whose markets are pretty low as it is. Alex: Yes, sir. Jason: So let me go with my last guy. My last guy. I love this player. He is the counterpart to Victor Wembenyama. He is Stefan Kassel. So he is one of the multiple guards that the Spurs have because they have Fox, have Jillian Harper and have Stefan Kassel. Last year was his rookie year. He won Rookie of the Year. ⁓ He was he did he had an OK season. I feel like last year's rookie class was the greatest, but he was the one of the shining stars in that class. This year he took a big leap. Now he's averaging 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists. This man has a really good IQ and he knows when to pass, when to grab rebounds, when to shoot. He has like that winning player archetype in my eyes. I feel he's gonna be a counterpart for Wumbi for a long time. Cause they fit very well. He is very fast, fast for that fast break. ⁓ And in February he had a crazy game 40 points 12 rebounds of assists from a guard like that's insane 12 rebounds from a guard is insane When you have Wemby on that team well that's Alex: That is insane. Wasn't Wimby hurt at one point? Alright, let's see Wimby play that game. Jason: I'm not too sure about that, but... Alex: I think when we just like, yeah, you can get the rebounds. Jason: Yeah, take the night off. But yeah, he's one those guys that I can see him get that 20 points per game next year. That tennis is average of double-double. He has that archetype. He has that mindset of going faster, doing better. Yeah, I can see that double-double stat line for next year. Like I said, he's the counterpart. He's ⁓ high IQ versatility. Right now he's on that trajectory to be the primary ball handler. I just love this guy. He's a tank. He's a tank. I can't repeat it. From my low end card for his raw card, I went with a Prism 234 Silver Rookie. It's this Prism card. Like we said before, it's a card that holds a lot of value just because of that name Prism. $64 for a silver. That is not bad at all. For a budget card, feel like that is right up the alley of picking it up quick and easy and making it flip within like a couple of months. So he is a great player. For my high-end card, I went with a short print, from Optic. ⁓ Optic number one mythical. It just shows like a bunch of laser squares. don't know what do you call that, but. It's just one of those cards you don't see that often. it goes for 140 raw. Just a dope card. I feel like if you're going for these cards, you want to go crazy with the designs and not a common card. So I feel like 140 isn't bad for that card at all. It's eye appealing too. So it's not just going to be one on the bunch. Alex: 40 is not bad. Um, Silvers are nice. they're, they're hard to get because you really get like a certain amount in a box, especially mega boxes. Uh, especially for him. Uh, that's silver would do really well in the next couple of years. If you do like him a lot and you want like a certain amount of like money out of it. Um, I think those are like, uh, like downtowns technically, but like for basketball more, but mythicals are not, that's a nice mythical and they're hard to get. So if you do get it good for you. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: Hit the card, wait till he does really well. He's on the same team as Victor when he asked, but you know that card's gonna do a crap ton in the future. What's your number 10, Jason? Number two, PSA 10. Jason: Yes, Yeah, it's. My PSA 10 I went optic as well. So it's a Raider Rookie, Stefan Castle, 254, pink glitter out of 275. I was looking at like the last sold and this thing really caught my eye out of 275. It is PSA 10, 185. I'm like, that is not bad at all. Alex: That's a nice one. That is now better at 185 for 275 glitter. That's really nice. Jason: Like that's a dope card. like I love the pink, it pops out. Has that nice framing to it of the card. I love it. Alex: It's a numbered rookie card. knowing that, say if you do keep this card forever and he does well in the next couple of years, like championship and finals MVP, something like that, you know, this card is going to be at least like a thousand dollars at one point. Jason: Yeah, definitely. At least double it. Yeah, for sure. ⁓ Yeah, Safan Castle, dope player. That's probably my guy I want to invest in. I don't have many of his cards in, but he's probably one of the guys I'm going to look to pick up during the offseason, for sure. Alex: the nation is looking for in Stefan Castle. Jason: Yeah, we are going to be hunting for these guys. So, yeah, so that's our list. ⁓ lot of like potential guys. We kind of went separate. Me and Alex went Alex went more of a status players. We're going to take that next leap for like MVP and stuff like that. And I went more of the younger guys who are who are going to just make that next leap again, but more in points and like overall. ⁓ yeah, so invest, invest on these guys. If you, if you like them, let us know and let us know what you, you are investing in. Cause there's a lot of good NBA players out there. Alex: Let us know if there's a player that's gonna rise up without us knowing. Jason: Be cautious when you when you invest. Don't go crazy on him, obviously, unless you think he's that guy. Just be smart with it. Alex: be smart with it guys. Jason: So now it's part of our collector's corner section of this podcast So Alex crazy week a lot of news out there a Lot of cards out there. What cards are on your radar? Alex: so man this week has been overwhelming, you know, like a lot of product dropping it's a freaking Just trying to like keep my head leveled up because man too much dopamine is hitting me my face And i'm like i'm sending josh, ⁓ josh jason so many titi like jason this just popped out this popped out i'm like Where am I gonna get the money to buy these boxes? Hope they get something good That's the it's the collector's dilemma buying boxes and hoping you get something good Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: saving up the money to buy a card you want. yeah, right now, one of the cards I really wanted was a Poppy Witch Jr. Purple was going for $30. Might look for on eBay. I was looking on Colex, but half the guys on there either have zero stars or are currently away. And I'm like, oh, you gotta be kidding me. Jason: on Alex: ⁓ Jason: Yeah, I was also looking at him. He has some dope cards. His rookies aren't too badly priced. I don't know if it was a heritage. I don't know what it was. But it was a really nice shiny card. He's going for like 10 bucks. was like, damn, I might do that. Alex: That's a lot. Looking around for not well, what else have I been looking at? Oh, I picked up some more white sex players. ⁓ picked up a Kyle to you out of 99, ⁓ the Arizona, ⁓ training one. Jason: The White Sox. nice, this is a nice looking card. Alex: Yeah, that's a nice looking card. ⁓ he's currently out because of a Sam string. Hope he comes back and does well. ⁓ big Coast of Montgomery. I think he's doing much better than this guy this year. ⁓ Roman Anthony, freaking all his cards are going up right now because of how well he's doing. But I picked up a, the little Easter egg one, green and purple, and then a Coast of Montgomery, ⁓ Arizona teams just to have it. Jason: So a lot of white socks guys, I see. We are the best team out there. No, no, we're not. But we have some dope players. Yeah. Alex: But yeah. Well, you know, just you know, we're we're we're doing good Yeah, but I think he he's one of the players in my radar right now that I had got around to ⁓ Because you know Jason sends me so many freaking tic-tacs like and reels and I'm like Jason: I have yet to have a Coleslaw Montgomery card. I didn't even get his base card. Lefter opened so many boxes of the flagship baseball. Alex: Um, but yeah, they're not that bad. They will. I'm going to say they're not that bad. It's just like some version of this car, I think overall paid maybe 20 bucks for three cards, which is not that bad. Jason: That's not awful. Yeah, they're a couple of graded, a couple of nice parallels. That's not bad at all. Alex: But yeah, that's the players. was, ⁓ yeah, was betting on a Luka card, but freaking even him being out and going to Europe to get a new hamstring. It's no shut up. Let me see my search history. Jason: I'm ready for Lakers Luka cards. I know there's a couple of Panini ones, but when he hits tops, know tops, was it tops hoops and tops, ⁓ what was it? Tops bowmen. ⁓ I'm excited for Luka to be in the product. Alex: ⁓ we can't wait for temp2s. Yeah. Man, so many cards, so many things I want to ⁓ Last thing I've been looking up is a RPA of Caleb Williams. Jason: a scope. You need to grab that card. That's your guy. You gotta grab that card eventually. Alex: I know it's so expensive and I was looking at a nice one, I was like 500 and I'm like, ugh. But yeah, that and another card I was looking at was a Lebron James Rookie card, tops, one over the suit. I gotta get one of those eventually. But we'll switch over. I'll talk more about that in the experiences for this week. Jason: For sure. So I went with, so I want to start a new like set, not pretty much set, more like a collection for me. I want to start collecting the 2016 Cubs World Series players, but like their autographs. So like, know, like Rizzo, Schwaber, Bryant, Jake Urieta. So a bunch of like the guys who were like big part of that team, their autos aren't too bad. They're like going for like 40, between like 40, 50 bucks. And they're just like cool players. That's what like really got me back into baseball. So getting those cards for like the PC would be dope. Alex: ⁓ what's that, babe? Jason: So also that podcast that came out, you saw it, it was a podcast where like they talk about that World Series and it's pretty much hooked me since it came out. Alex: Are you a Sox fan or a Coulson? Pick one, Jason. Jason: I'm a Sox fan, but that's what got me. I don't hate on the Cubs. Sure, if they face out in the World Series, I'm going Sox all the way, I don't mind the Cubs. Alex: He just loves Chris Brown guys, that's what it is. Jason: Chris Bryant's dope. Rizzo's dope. Schwab's dope. They like a lot of dope players. That team was stacked looking back at it. Another guy I went, we talked in this video, in this podcast about Victor Weminiyama. He's just a dope player. I want to get more of his rookie cards. I was looking at his Blue Mosaic. I purchased it earlier for like 20 bucks. I was like, that's a dope card. I more rookie Wemby's. And since Panini's leaving. the NBA scene, not leaving the NBA scene, but like the licensed NBA. I was like, I got to picked up more of his rookie cards. What else? Drake May. I need Drake May. Drake May before the draft hit, before any NFL like big stuff happened. I need to pick up more of his cards. I need that purple like, ⁓ what's that? What's that purple one you got? Alex: Straight ready. also. Jason: Yeah, I need that guy. need the X-Fractor. I gotta buy those. I gotta just pull the trigger because like, probably gonna get another wide receiver out there and I feel like the Patriots are gonna do well. Alex: me with my uh sormon of of drake may and my fault my binder that shimmer no prism Jason: Let me buy some, let buy some. Let me buy some. Alex: Sorry Jason, I bought those for $5 not $30. Jason: I'll try to do some Caleb's. Alex: Buy me an RPA and we'll get to go. Jason: I don't know about that. That's way too expensive now. Alex: ⁓ His market is done. I just sent his ⁓ well i'll say that for the later But yeah, I get a bunch of his his cards do well are doing well right now because he just did come off a loss on the playoffs But other players super bowl, ⁓ think he if he does I think he'll he'll eventually be do well on the ⁓ the playoffs every year and His cards are i gonna shoot up ⁓ Jason: I feel like they over people overreacted because how bad he looked in the screwable, but he was really banged up. He was really banged up in that screwable. That oil line could not protect him for shit. The wide receivers were pretty much ghosts out there. So I think, yeah, he was kind of bounced back because he went crazy in the out in the regular season and people forget, forget about that. Alex: I just fought him, in opinion. walking, walking with my If he had a better... because if you look at it from a different... different way, the faults are not his, in my opinion. I think that he didn't... he didn't really... well, he really run the ball as much. I feel like he would've just freaking... what's his name? Running back for... Jason: Yeah, Trayvon Henderson and like, ⁓ Raimondra Stevenson. Yeah. Alex: dumb, the help push the ball more. And then, Stefan Diggs was washed. I'm gonna lie here, dude is washed. He did terrible in the Super Bowl. And that's the only thing I could think of, a booty. It was not like a real like, little wide receiver. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, Hunter Henry was like on and off. Sometimes you can find him, sometimes you can't. Alex: Yes, I don't really blame him like for the offense you gotta like understand like his offense Is like a like a dollar tree. He shops at the dollar tree guys You can't get expect to have good things from the dollar tree. It gets you so far but without The brand the good brand shit. Yeah, but Jason: Thank you. Yeah, he was a second year. He's still super young. That team is super young. They made the most changes in free agency than anyone last year. I can see them getting good riders here. I know AJ Brown's in the mix of possibly a trade for them. Tyreek Hill is one another option. So I think Drake may well get those weapons. Whether it's between the draft or free agency, I think he's going do very well next season. Alex: That's a point. Uh, I think it, in the most part, feel like it's Will Campos, or the man who's ass that entire game. Jason: It's crazy because he was super good in the regular season and then he just went for shit. It's probably the same thing as Drake injuries and like that wear and tear from like a long season. yeah, Drake May, Drake May. So now let's go to experiences. So we both went to at least my first Break Time card show. It's like a local promoter here in Illinois. ⁓ It was in Naperville this show. There's a lot of cards, man. Alex: Yeah. Drake Mary. Drake Mary. Jason: That was overwhelming. Like, it's a whole maze. I didn't know where to start, if I looked at that specific line. What's your thoughts on that card show? Alex: Man, one, I wish they had an ATM and two, thank God they do Zelle. Cause I walked in thinking they had an ATM and the guy's like, you could just Zelle me $3. Like, here's Zelle, $3 boom. I'm in. so overwhelmed. ⁓ saw cards that I never think I see before. ⁓ downtown of, ⁓ Caleb Williams saying, fuck the Packers. And then the guy was selling it for eight grand. like, how do I know this is actually his auto? Jason: Damn, I didn't see that. Alex: And you not, were saying, fuck the Packers and the guys that gets authenticated. I'm like, that doesn't mean shit to me. I need, I need to, it was a PSA 10. Yeah. I, I like a PSA 10 auto PSA 10 card. Yeah. I'd believe it. And then triple the value of like the three grand or something. But, we did me and my dad did pick up some cards. picked up a Cooper flag. ⁓ it's like, what is it? What I put it's on your summer, but it's like a, What is it called? That's on me, but it's a Cooper flag card. It was like five bucks due to for my books. I get it graded to a hundred bucks. Jason: ⁓ I saw that. It's like the Living set or something like that, right? Alex: Some crap, think you get it from like Topsnow or something like that or? Jason: Yeah, it's like, I think they call it a living set where it's like, they printed like every player of the NBA, like one per week. So you can only pick up that card that week. I was also looking at the card, I didn't ask the dude how much it was, because it's really nice card. Alex: It's not bad. Me and my dad both got one for five bucks. It's going for eight right now. ⁓ That guy had a bunch of Shohei cards. ⁓ my goodness. I wish I had a little bit more money because he was selling a Shohei Marikami card and I was, that guy, I could have talked him down to it because, one, Jason, everybody overpriced his shit everywhere, man. And he was selling that Marikami card for 170. It was going for a hundred bucks. Jason: you video. Alex: I showed him that card and he give a fuck. He didn't give a fuck at all. Jason: Yeah, I feel like Otani's people will not budge on that card I feel budge more on like judge for like Otani that's like gold Alex: Yeah, the guy did not give a fuck. ⁓ What else did we do? My dad bought in another Otani card. You know the one you have where you're sitting at like he's like a little bench or like or speaking to someone. Yeah, he is now. He bought a PSA 10 one, I think of that. My dad's my dad is about a crap ton of Otani card, so. Inheritance here I come. No, I'm just kidding. Jason: Yeah, like the Roger is he on? He's like on podium? Yeah. Fuck yeah. Smart band, smart band. Alex: I would never sell my dad's cards even if he handed it to me. I'd cry a little. Like Jason, I can never sell these cards, Jason. Jason: there. gonna be hard man. Like you have so many good cards and you're like, ⁓ day. Alex: Jason gave me a car. I would never sell it It has sentiment value now. It's no longer available for sale sir. ⁓ but yeah overall Well, yeah, we met a couple carts. ⁓ nice guy I took a minute to talk to him because that guy was doing sales Jason: day. Dude, I'm telling you that that man was busy. Yeah, he was... Yeah, very nice cards. Yeah, he was a cool guy. Make sure to check out that episode. It was a really good conversation with him. We talked card vending, just social media. So that's a really good episode. We put a couple clips on social media. So check those out as well. ⁓ Alex: Yeah, look at what he said about grabbing some cards from social media. Jason: Yeah, I like this card show. Like this is my first time going to like this promoters card shows. ⁓ Yeah, there was a lot of Pokemon. One right past those a lot of Pokemon. But like I feel like there's a good amount of sports card inventory there for my pickups. I got a PSA nine Tom Brady. ⁓ I forgot what it's called. It's like a skybox. It's like that one with he has like two guys in it. But Tom Brady is like in his Michigan uniform. Alex: Yeah, with lot of Pokémon, yeah, a lot of- I know. Jason: a rookie card. was like, that's the card I was missing. That's the card I've been hunting for. I went up to this guy, I saw it. It was, it was overpriced. Got him down a couple bucks. Just one of those guys, it's one of those cards that's be PC. I know that card's gonna go up no matter what, cause it's Tom Brady. Unless Tom Brady kills someone, that card's gonna be pretty good. Alex: No, don't think Tom D. does kill somebody so he goes even more. Jason: ⁓ yeah, you never know. People love him so much that he deflated balls allegedly and did all this other shit, but people still love him because he's the GOAT. Alex: They'll like, he had a reason to kill you guys. It's Tom Brady. He- Jason: Yeah, he broke into his house, but he didn't, but... Alex: He threw a full ball at us and he died. Come on. You got to catch those from top radio. What do you expect? Those are absolute bullets. Come on, guys. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, so he's the goat. I bought a bunch of Topps Now cards. I got Alex like one or two of them. They're just dope cards. I was like, they were cheap. was like, fuck. Alex: Such a good friend. When he text me that he got me some cards, I'm like, ⁓ he sent me a dickhead and gave me a fucking Matt Chapman card. Hey, I got you a night out. I was waiting for him to give me like, yeah, I found this Matt Chapman out of 99 for five bucks and I got it for him. I'm like, The curse of Matt Chapman. Jason: No, no, I was like he collects it was like a Roman Anthony like debuted card and ⁓ Luis Angel Acuna rookie, ⁓ tpu card tops now I was like these are two dope cards i'm gonna pick one up for myself and i'll get get some for alex they're on bad price. ⁓ What else I get I got a judge I got an erin judge is like the image variation I think was like an all-star, ⁓ picture of it I got it for 25 goes pretty much for 25. So Alex: Yeah, W Frank guys, W Frank. Jason: comp, there's more Aaron George. I got like three of his rookie cards now. So yeah, yeah, that's Aaron George. He's another player who's going to live up to that hype and be a good player to hold. Alex: That's not it. Can't lose on the comp, in my opinion. Did you show me the picture? feel like I didn't see the current judge. the one he's done the ball. That's not bad. Jason: Yeah, I was like, I haven't seen that do one at 30 offered him 25 because was pretty strict on other prices from what I was hearing. So I was like, well, just get, get comp for it. ⁓ else? ⁓ Anything else on that card show Alex? Alex: Uh, yeah, it's a lot of going on. I could not have me, my, my dad sent me on a trip to, cause, uh, usually help my dad look out for cards. So we looked around for Cooper flag cards and they were all gone. All I saw was base man, base inserts, regular inserts. They are not like special man. go for a lot and people don't give a fuck about how much they charge. Cause I had one up to you. I'm like, yeah, this is only $10. Why you sending this 50 bucks? It's it's like, Jason: Dude, I have so many Cooper flags. I think I'm gonna one day like come over to your house and just show you them and see if you can like just grade them. Alex: funny with that just in a bunch right now. ⁓ but yeah, picked up a LA to produce a base rookie, ⁓ like, ⁓ what do call it? Like a rabbit, not rabbit, like something like Eastern thing, Easter variation. got that picked up a Derek Jeter rookie card, PSA nine. And then I picked up a tower Mori prospect for Japan. he was going crazy a couple of months ago. I hope ⁓ hoping that I got it for 60 by the way. Then the cop is 75. So dude, I, dude asked me to ask him for an offer and I told him 50 bucks and he was like, no, I was like, he told me to give him offer. I'm like, I was like, I'm not going to disrespect. He's like, just ask for an hour, like 50 bucks. He's like, he's like, no, I'll do 60. I'm like, fuck it. I'll take you 60. I'm like, all right, cool. Jason: ⁓ shit. Fuck it, alright. Yeah, that high ceiling, you never know. You never know what these players... You can go crazy. Alex: Usually say like sorry right after cuz I'm testing the water. I'm seeing actually cuz like Yeah, I don't be a dig. I'm like because he said he told me they shoot him an offer I'm like, you know, I'm fucking shooting off for 50 bucks And I said sorry after he's like I understand what you man's like, yeah, I'm just not trying to be too strickle his wife his wife She was nice, too What do call it? She just wanted him to sell the car because I think she was just wanted she just wanted Jason: Yeah, don't want to be a dick. You Alex: money off like everything there. Um, but she's like, yeah, just give them for six. I'm like, you. I just dropped your husband. I kind of sell this shit for like half not like the same price. No, but yeah. Oh yeah. Well, the thing with couple, uh, got a picture with him. Nice guy. Uh, he's asking how the pod was. He said he listened to the last pod. Um, I was like, thank you for the Tom. you again for coming on. Jason: cards Alex: He's saying he's telling us hope you have we have him on again in future but ⁓ knew it was packed like his table was towards the big entrance and I I would have to wait like these five to ten minutes because he was bargaining yeah, because these guys would come up like with like expensive ass cards and ⁓ He would like He takes it takes a minute cuz he had like some guys offering five cars You gotta look up the cops and everything cuz you want to lose on the money Jason: ⁓ shit. Mm-hmm. Alex: But yeah, it took a minute. So I actually got him, I shook his hand, told him, hey, can I get a picture with you for the pod? He's like, yeah, took a picture. Nice guy. him, we'll see him around. But, uh. Jason: That's dope. Yeah, he was pretty cool. I went up to him, also talked to him. Cool guy. Yeah, good card show. lot of good pickups. Yeah, I would go to another of this promoter's card shows. I they're pretty far away. But dope. Yeah, I was like, Nathan, I was like, that's pretty cool. So I went to that. Alex: Um, yeah, they are pretty far away. They're like usually middle of nowhere. Um, yeah, I was, I got off work and I said 20 minutes. thank God. Um, last two experiences and then we can move on. Uh, I went to go buy cars today and the guy had a restock man, Jason, I'm gonna send you a picture of like what happened today. You're like. Jason: Yeah, W. ⁓ no. Good, bad. Alex: Smelly guys smelly people everywhere Jason. I just wanted to buy a fat bag. Jesus. That's all I wanted to buy Just wanted to buy a fat pack And yeah, they they come and go a lot of sports right BAM fucking five to six people come out of nowhere. ⁓ and then There was okay, there's Pokemon but there are tens like the ones that come with two packs. So yeah Jason: Smelly people. ⁓ man... a lot of sports cards. Yeah. Was it for sports cars or like Pokemon or what was it? ⁓ that's the one you say your dad told you to grab? Alex: No, he want he want me to go grab him a prism mega box and my In a brother WMB box. My mom gets Pokemon annoying not annoying just says that I don't find it like really Profit not like profit like like if I get a rookie card base rookie card that rookie can be like the next big thing and then that rookie card like 50 bucks one day, but that's the Pikachu with the thing what Pikachu maybe Jason: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Alex: tears the SEL he did if he his cars a little bit also. But yeah, that's how it was. Horrible. The guy had the vendor at the other guy. He couldn't take the whole thing. You only get two per item. The guy got mad and he went back out, grabbed his friend and but they both got two items and like, oh, this is why this hobby is so horrible. Jason: I don't take it. Yeah. Alex: Um, last experience we sent out my, uh, Reggie Jackson card, uh, over the weekend, got delivered Monday and it's already in the process of getting, uh, reviewed. I I should receive it by the grade by June, which was kind of good because we just found out, well, my dad's been doing this for a minute and she has a name for it. We didn't know the name until like today it's called anchoring. Anchoring is when you put. You say you buy it's even like an expensive card. You want to get it graded faster? So you put that you put the paperwork put it all together and then you do the second paperwork for the for the bulk value Put them in the same box Send it to PSA they'll open the whole box and process the whole order at all at once instead of just Waiting like a couple days to process. So everything is kept processed faster. And that's why it's called anchoring Jason: Hmm. Alex: So you're to need, you're going to need to, if you want your cards a little bit faster, you're to have to pay for one card to come at, go a little bit faster. So, so you get, so yeah, I should get my cards back by the beginning of June. So I got to save 200 bucks up for my seven cards. I sent out Reggie Jackson, my Shohei Otani that I'll put out a pack for a dollars. Um, was estimated if I get a 10 on it's $500, which is kind of crazy. It's Shohei. Jason: Okay. W. Hell yeah. Alex: That's why my Alexandra Pantoja card, is another $300 card because of 10, a lot of cards I'm hoping to get back. the goal is I'm hoping to sell that Reggie Jackson card, Jason, for 1500. And I will use that money for the Nationals. And I already have a of players I really want to go buy. I know. That's why I've been looking at LeBron cards and the Jason: The man's ready. Ready for the Nationals. Hell yeah. Alex: And ⁓ caleb card, so if I do get that money i'm automatically gonna buy, ⁓ those cards just to have Jason: That would be sick. My experiences, besides the show, I went to a local card shop. They had some Easter promotions. Pretty much if you spend $25, you get a raffle kind of thing. And you pick out a slip and you can win hobby boxes. can win just more credit. I ended up getting $25 in credit. I was like, that's not bad. Alex: Mm. Jason: bought a blaster to reach that $25 and I got $25 in credit. was like, hell yeah. So eventually I'll probably use that for a hobby box or something. I love, it's called, what is it? Sports card king. There's. Alex: Yeah, nice. Hey, we go there now, go there. As soon you put it on, we go there now. Jason: Yeah, there's there's there's like multiple like locations in Illinois, but I go to the Plainfield one. ⁓ But yeah, I love that shop because they have really cool promotions like twenty five dollar credit. I'm going save that for a hobby box eventually and have that there. Expires by the end of the month. Alex: It doesn't expire. It looks like Jason's gonna hobby bucks Jason: It's coming soon, let me tell you. And I think NBA is coming out soon, so probably buy one from there or something. Alex: ⁓ yeah, the they're supposed to do a thing this week or this month I gotta ask my dad because we got tickets for like a a tops night thing Jason: yeah, it's like their own kind of, it's not top sponsored, but it's their, it's like their own event where like they do card openings and it's like some other stuff. Yeah. They haven't, they haven't announced what day it is. I've been keeping an eye on that because yeah, I've stuff like that for that too. Alex: That's the wrong thing I think. I we'll probably let Jason know when we go out there and we all can hang out, eat pizza and hope to win a hobby box. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, legit, because I'm like 15 minutes away from there. So it's like nothing. Yeah, so so dope experiences. ⁓ Yeah. This guy one more. One more. Alex: ⁓ yeah, I do have one more experience though. Well, I know, I know one more. It's the market movers market movers app looks ass now. Jason: You might need an episode for that, Alex. Cause it's brutal. It's brutal. When I told you, I was like, I don't know if I'm overreacting. I don't know if it's just dumb in my eyes, but then you confirmed it. I was like, all right, we both agree. Alex: I wish I never updated it, but that's another episode we'll talk about. That's going to do it for today's episode of Boomer Sports Cards. you enjoyed it, make sure you give us a follow on social, social, wherever you enjoy podcasts, stay ripping, stay collecting. Remember the hobbies always boom and we'll catch you next time. Jason: See ya.
