Jason: Welcome, collectors, to another episode of Boomin' Sports Cards, the podcast where the hobby stays hot and the card stays boomin'. I'm one of your hosts, Jason. Alex: And I'm Alex, they will be discussing key players for any card collection. So let's get right into it, shall we? Jason: Let's do it. Today we're breaking down the true building blocks of the hobby the players every collector should have on their radar. Whether you're starting or looking to level up your collection, these names have stability, value, and long term appeal. We're talking about guys who define eras, dominate headlines, and consistently show up in the market. So Alex, who is number one unanimous between both of us? Alex: LeBron! Jason: Lebron, Mr. Golf himself. man's a golf star all of a sudden. Alex: Ha! I'm to give you some golf cards of LeBron. Jason: Hell yeah. So tell us about LeBron. Alex: When you talk about foundation pieces, starts with LeBron James, one of the most decorated players in basketball history. LeBron is a four time NBA championship, four time MVP and the NBA's all time leading scorer, which is kind of crazy for a guy like him. With over two decades of dominance, countless all-star selections and a legacy built on consistency and greatness, his cards remain some of the most trusted and sought after in the hobby. Yes sirree. Jason: Dude's mystery consists of 23 seasons in the NBA. don't know an NBA before LeBron. Alex: is true. LeBron has been here for a while. Jason: It's gonna be very sad. when he retires, I'm gonna have a cookout because man, even though I hated him because he always destroyed the Bulls when Derek Rose was like popping. like LeBron, like that's the dude you want in your collection. He's he's everything you want. I feel like it's gonna be like Jordan eventually. like his cards are gonna be rare to find because obviously more products are gonna come out. And LeBron's just guy who's pretty much carried the NBA for the last 20 plus years. Alex: Yeah, he I think when he retires all his rookie cards are gonna shoot up and He it might be like another What do call it Michael Jordan situation where his cards? by itself is through Graham by itself, so Jason: I feel like he's like the most safe player out of everyone you can collect. Because he already has all the accolades. We know what he's done in the NBA. And by the end of his last season, we just have to appreciate greatness because no matter if you hate him, no matter if you love him, all witnessed how great he was. So Alex, what's the card you looked at? ⁓ in episode, we're going to look at cards you should get for these foundational players. you should add in your collection because a lot of these guys are stars and I feel like every collection should have a LeBron James. Alex: Uh, so I looked up his rookie card his uh tops 2003 2004, uh one with the white suit. Um, it's under 500 bucks raw Um, goes for 352. So if you do want to get it raw, it's not that bad Uh, it's something that's gonna grow over time when he retires anniversaries Not unfortunately when he does pass away that card does go like will skyrocket. Um, but overall Even if you do get like a nine or eight, it's still going to have a large value, um, PSA nine or eight. Um, but yeah, that's the card I got. I picked tops because tops is one of the best brands out there that everybody wants. So it'd be easier to, uh, sell if you do want to sell this in the future for a large amount. Jason: Yeah, I feel like that's the most like basic LeBron rookie card out there. That's the one that like everyone wants to grab because, it's Topps. It's his iconic white suit. It's Cleveland. And that's when we when he was ⁓ chosen one. That's when he was barely entered the league. So that's a great pull. For card, I went I went different because I felt like we're we're all just going to do rookie cards. So I kind of want to mix it up. So I went with a super short print LeBron James 2022 Mosaic scene glass. So this is him and his Lakers uni. Just a cool card. Short print. ⁓ of loud colors. The yellow, the blue, the purple. Just a dope card to have in your collection. If you're a Lakers fan, because I know Lakers a huge fan base and LeBron has a huge fan base. So this would be a great pick for for both fanatics. So the raw it's 255 PSA 9 290 and PSA 10 516. Just a nice shiny card of Lebron James. Alex: yeah, it looks like a great card when the brand does return I think all his cards are shoot up, especially this one I'm think from like time from like now to the whatever Any prints of his cards at low numbers? They're all gonna be sought after because it's the brawn But yeah great car Jason, who's the second guy we got Jason: now we're shifting from the hardwood to the gridiron. The conversation doesn't start doesn't lose any star power with Tom Brady. Widely regarded the greatest quarterback of all time, Brady brings seven Super Bowls, five Super Bowl MVP's and career defined by winning at the highest level. So Tom Brady, what can he say? He's seven times Super Bowl. This man won everything. He's winning in life. mean, he has his own card shop now. ⁓ Alex: Yeah. Jason: Unfortunately, the prices are through the roof, but he's doing a lot with the card hobby, which is pretty interesting. I would not thought Tom Brady would fit in the card hobby. I feel like he would have gotten to like fashion or some stuff like that. I don't know. He feels like a high maintenance guy. I mean, he's care or like fitness. Like imagine like Brady, like gyms and like stuff like that, because he's so much into fitness. I thought you go that way. Alex: Not a fashion. I can see that happening, yeah. football gyms. That'd be cool. I actually went up there. Jason: You know, like technology. like it's kind of it's crazy. Like I love Tom Brady and then randomly just going into the hobby more and more. I'm like, this is insane. so I chose a pretty rare card. I've seen this card, to be honest. I think last episode had a similar card of Jason Tatum. ⁓ So it's a Tom 2000 Pacific Crown Royal. Alex: yeah, where'd you get it? Yeah. Jason: or Royale, whatever you want to call it. 110 base rookie. That's a pretty dope card. I've never seen it. I want to know if it's die cut. Is it die cut? Alex: Think it is a day cut because the one I have what's his name from the Mavericks PJ Washington It's a die cut his has his assigned. I have one of those Jason: Mmm. Yes, we got King Brady. That's like a crown design. It's. It's pretty it's a pretty dope card. So raw 360 PSA 10 521 PSA. I'm sorry, PSA 9521 PSA 10 2225. So it's a rare card. And if you get a grade of 10, you're well off. So obviously, Brady's one of the greatest of all time in the NFL. So having him as part of your foundation for your collection is a must. mean, there's so many cheaper options, but I love this one. Alex: That cuts you I thought it'd be more intense because that cuts are hard to grade But 2000 for a 10 is not that bad But imagine seeing this like in the dollar man, you like flipping out. That'd be crazy Jason: Dude. Yeah, because it's like strange. Like I would not think this is a rookie card. yeah, like sure he's in his Michigan uni. Looks like the senior bowl jersey. But yeah, it's a no Patriots logos on it. So it's kind of strange. It could be just be like a college card, but no, it's a rookie card. Alex: Looks like we gotta keep our eyes open for something like that, Jason. Jason: definitely. I'll be snoozing out. Like, ⁓ that's a cool one. And then just skip right over. Alex: I like I've seen that card somewhere, but I don't know where. Jason: no Alex he skipped over dollar bins. ⁓ What TB12 ⁓ did he get? ⁓ Alex: dollar bin misnudes I picked up the Star Rookie Tom Brady for upper deck. is the blue variation. the card raw is 382. Um, that's not that bad. I was trying to use our system of $500. Um, a nine is 1350 and a 10 is 5,000. Uh, that's not bad at all for $200 card. Um, this is pretty unique. Uh, this is probably a good card to keep because when Tom Brady does do more Tom Brady stuff, card will keep Continue to keep going up on anniversaries any any even then when he does essentially does pass away all his cards will shoot up I'm not trying to be like that This is gonna be honest Jason: I trying to kill everyone. I trying to kill everyone. I thought I'd just be like, damn this dude's dark, is he okay? Alex: I'm not lying though, it's true. Jason: You're not wrong. Like these cards are yeah, they're long term investments. These foundational players should be in your collection for a long time. And if in the near future you want you want to sell, obviously they'll have more value because these cards won't be in production. And like Alex said, they will die. Everyone dies. Not turning into a death podcast, but that's let's move on from that. Yeah, Tom Brady's body is like a ⁓ year old. This man takes care. Alex: Yeah Tom Brady, Tom Brady's in lift forever, guys, so. Jason: cares so much of his body. I remember at one point it was like a study on him and then they were like, yeah, this dude's at 40. He's like his body's like 28 years old. So yeah, this dude's gonna live forever. But this is a dope card. It looks like he's in his walkthrough, kind of like joggers and jersey. I like this card because it's one of his few rookie cards where he has a Patriots logo and he's by himself because there's like two cards where he's like with some other quarterback who got drafted that year. Alex: Yes. Jason: because no one thought the sixth round pick was going to do anything. So this is a pretty dope card. I love the blue. The blue pops out. And having this card in your collection, you're set for the future. mean, Tom Brady already retired. You know what we got from seven Super Bowls. I don't think anyone can reach that in the near future unless, I don't know, hacks, steroids. I don't know. Alex: I they're really on that. don't think it... thought Patrick Mahomes was going to do it, but he's not going to do it. It's impossible. Jason: It's insane because we were like, yeah, Joran's never gonna surpass him in and then Tom Brady came and did it in different sport, it's crazy. Tom Brady's the GOAT. The GOAT. Alex: is to go to our next You know unanimous player that partner foundation ⁓ Tony show you Tony and from the gridiron to the diamond It's possible to ignore the impact of show hey ⁓ Tony a true one of one talent Tony has redefined what's possible in baseball as a both an elite pitcher and powerhead with multiple MVP Awards global superstars appeal. He's just not down in the game. He was shaping the hobby his cards create a rare mix of performance, uniqueness, international demand making him a modern foundation piece in any collection. Which is really true because you gotta get one of his cards. Jason: Yeah, I mean, that's that's a key thing. He's a modern foundation because these these two guys would just go through. They're they're on their way out. mean, LeBron probably has a year left. Tom Brady's already out. But Shoaib Ohtani, he is in his peak. And at his peak, what? Two time MVP, no more than two time MVP. Yeah, because he won some with with the the Angels, but he already won back to back. Alex: Hehe. I he's like three or four. Angels. Jason: series in like two years. I it's like a second year with the With Dodgers, so he's doing a lot of great things out there Alex: He has, yeah, four MVPs, holy crap. Four MVPs and two World Series back to back. He also has Rookie the Year from the EL side and yeah, that's crazy. Jason: Four MVP's like, what? Yeah, like we've never seen like a town like him. Yeah, there's room. There is the whole Babe Ruth did this. Babe Ruth did that. But. A lot of us did not see Babe Ruth. Yeah, Shoyo Tani is facing the level performance. These guys are never been more juiced up. These bats have been more juiced up. The balls are more juiced up. This man's ⁓ tank. And you're collecting baseball or anything in general. Alex: Put Babe Ruth right now. Do you think he's going to do the same thing, Jason? Come on. Jason: Otani should be in your collection. My card, my card, my card. I went with the 2018 Taps Chrome update. He's pitching in this picture. It's similar to yours. I know I peeked at yours, but this one's in. It's his update edition. He has a red jersey ready to wind up and throw the ball. It's raw price is 250 PSA 9 300 PSA 10 629. These price are pretty relative. you don't know, like they'll go up no matter what, because he's the hottest player right now in the hobby and having him in your collection is vital because it's only going to go up. Alex: yeah, Jason Drake, because I recently bought not recently, but back in October I had bought a show a tiny Bowman wrote rookie one and I bought it for the bugs. Now it's worth $150 now, which is kind of crazy. ⁓ Jason: It's insane and like these chrome cards, everyone's gonna chase that shiny. I don't have any of his shiny cards because yeah, 250 is pretty steep for me. But like, if you can have a shiny chrome rookie card, you're set. Doesn't have to be like the most rarest card, but that cannot double in the next couple years. Alex: yeah, that's, that's triple ⁓ if does win another MVP and somehow win as another world series. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, because the Dodges are putting money into that organization, so he's going to be surrounded with the best players and probably only be DH and not be pitching. But like even then, this man has power and he hits stingers. ⁓ card did you choose? I know pretty similar to mine. Alex: Thank you. I know we think of like Jason I had picked up the tops chrome The regular not the update The rookie one that's just when he's pitching it's a base and crazy for a base card it goes for $400 Wow Imagine having these lying around in the house somewhere Jason: very alike. Imagine just one rip and it's This is raw. Or like, it gets squished or somehow or something and like, no, fuck, $400 down the drain. You'll get it for like 200. Damage corners. Alex: No, the corners, fuck. Somebody will buy it and fight it. you, think nobody would. Nah, somebody's remember, remember that Patrick Mahone, I was saying that was damaged. Somebody still paid like over a hundred dollars for it. So I think someone to pay for it. Like it's a show hay card. I don't care what the corners are fucked up, but yeah, this is one of his rookie cards. Stop scrum with top scrum. They, they're a little bit more expensive. Jason: It's insane. Yeah. Alex: And it tends to be harder to get nicer cards, especially rookie cards. what do you call it? Tough scrums. Everybody loves it. It's a, it's licensed. what else can you say about it? What kind of, what else can you say about tops? Chrome? Which I show with Tony that like makes it more valuable than the rest. Jason: I mean, yeah, top chrome. That's the chase. That's why the the product is so expensive. I mean, we've just seen with football just prices went up through the roof. And pulling this Otani would give you profit immediately if that was the case right now. But yeah, chrome is what people want. It's that shiny card. It's not paper. It's like a special material. Yeah. And chrome, having a chrome card in your collection would be dope. And Otani, you're set. Alex: it's like one of those like babe roofs cars that you keep forever Jason: Yeah, yeah, definitely. So now let's move on We're sticking with baseball. ⁓ When we talk about iconic players in the hobby, Ken Griffey is at the top of the list. The kid, you're an unmatched style power to the game. Another guy who's very likable. And he pretty much kept MLB afloat at point because they were struggling with. with attendance struggling with popularity of the game. He's a 13 time All-Star Hall of Famer, just dominate the field. He didn't win a World Series, but he was a remarkable player. And his cards really, really popped off. I want really basic with this because this card is pretty much a staple in the card industry. If it's not the most iconic card, it's probably top two, top three. His rookie card, it's a upper deck. Upper deck number one base rookie from 1989. Just a dope card. This is the card that I got recently. I probably got like two months ago. Just a nice card. It's all smiled up with the Seattle Mariners hat and his bad. Just an iconic card. Whenever you see pictures of cards from like just basic people, this card's right in front of it. was raw as a ninety nine dollars. PSA nine for fifteen. PSA ten five thousand dollars. Alex: in a while. Jason: Just a dope card. I love Ken Griffey. I have pair of shoes of his, pretty dope. He was just an iconic player in baseball and any baseball fan and any collector in general should have this card in their collection. Alex: Yeah, great card Jason. Um, my dad just picked up one when we went to the sports spectacular and uh, back a couple of weeks ago, he picked one up. Um, he's going to get a grade, but he really knows it's going to be bad grade because the centering on it is awful. And, um, yeah, it looks like a great card. I would probably get one myself and, but man, you could tell it's hard to grade because a nine is four 15 at 10 is 5,000. I'm imagining. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: I just think that they get graded and you're hoping to get a nine and be the best. Jason: Yeah, 1989. It's been a while since these cards have come out. And yeah, I have one and like their corners are pretty bad, but it's just one of those cards that like I kind of like I said, when you see a graphic of cards, this card's right in front of it. Just a dope card overall. Yeah. What's your next card? What's another foundational player that you got, Alex? Alex: see what's everybody's thing. So we I picked another go and It's stefan curry. Mr. Three-point himself Stefan curry is a highly decorated nba Superstar widely recognized as the greatest shooter in nba history, which is true Uh his major accolades include four-time nba championship uh from the 2020s to 2022 uh two-time mvp including a unanimous mvp Which was kind of crazy and then you got the NBA Finals one and he's a 12 12 time NBA All-Star He holds numerous records and such as the all-time three-point leader so yeah, this is is He's in a dominate golf a suit thing guys he's one hit Jason: another golfer. Dude, I don't know if you've seen like he did he had a video and he he is a really good golfer like He can go to on the pro tour So he's even he's even good in golf. ⁓ yeah, his basketball skills are unmatched He is truly one of a kind. We've never seen him seen anyone shoot threes like him He's probably yeah, he might be the go-ahead point guards to be honest. Yeah, magic's cool, but like Steph Curry, his impact, the number of championships he's He's insane. I feel like the only thing that's holding him back from the girl conversation was that he's always had stars around him, like KD. But like Magic also did that. But yeah, Steph Curry, that's a good choice, Alex. Alex: Heh heh. This guy says KD, it's the other way around. The conversation for KD is that he needed stuff created to the ring. That's just me. Jason: I remember for the longest they were like, Steph Curry doesn't have a finals MVP, but then he proved that. it was a weird conversation, but yeah, Steph Curry is one of the GOATs for sure. And I don't have many of his cards and I really need to pick some up before he retires. Cause yeah, but when it's settled and done, yeah, he's the GOAT. He's the GOAT point guard. Alex: Yeah, his tops cards more expensive than the bronze which is kind of weird but for the panini card if you want it's 200 bucks PSA 10 is 1200 and a PSA 9 is 425 so you get it, grade it and get a hope you get a 9 you You can get value out of this but overall this card will go up and he's on the verge of probably retiring too, so Jason: Yeah, he looks super young, super young. Got the old school Warriors jersey on that card and the logo. I love that logo. Yeah, Steph Curry, definitely a foundational player. He it all. And even in his older age, I've seen a couple of, he had a game against the Rockets and this man bought his team back single-handedly. He is still a GOAT and yeah, I need to pick more of his cards up. Alex: ⁓ yeah. Yes, sir. What is your other player that you picked, Jason? Jason: Alright, so we're switching to the football. it comes to a modern NFL dominance, Patrick Mahomes is already building an all time legacy. Since he's taking the starter in Kansas City, Mahomes has racked up multiple MVPs, Super Bowl titles, Super Bowl MVPs, all before turning 30. He has an elite arm, creativity, ability to deliver in clutch moments. He is insane. I'm a diehard Tom Brady fan. I... I love Tom Brady, but Patrick Mahomes, I've never seen a skill like him. feel like the closest, I remember for the longest, like Aaron Rodgers is the most skilled player NFL quarterback we've seen in a long time. Then Patrick Mahomes came, came around. He's like, yeah, this guy's way better. This man throws from crazy angles. He can run not as well as like Aaron Rodgers and some fast players out there, but he, knows how to use his body very well. Alex: Yeah, great pick on the Patrick most because I was having a hard time picking cards like football cards of like ready establish a because we picked We really picked Tom Brady's unanimous and I was thinking Patrick but I was like who else has been dominating in the last 10 years and I looked up like who's won the last 10 Super Bowl and then all you see is Kansas City and Patrick were homes and we Yeah, he's unanimous me the one of the foundations that people need to grab in their PC Jason: Yeah, yeah, because like sure you may not like him you may not be a Kansas City fan but you can respect his dominance in the game because every time the NFL playoffs comes around is like will Joe Burrow beat my homes? Will Josh Allen be my homes? Will Lamar be my homes? And at the end of the day my homes beat them all. He is like the guy who you have to get through to go to the Super Bowl. Alex: That's true. Jason: What is he already a three times Super Bowl champion? Just a great guy overall. His ⁓ the card that I chose was a twenty twenty five mosaic micro. It's a micro mosaic number 13. That's a short print. Ross, three thirty PSA nine three twenty six PSA ten six forty. I went I went on a different route because I feel like rookie cards. They're pretty cheap. You can still get some between like 150 to 380. So I went more of a short print kind of alternate. It's a dope card of his. I love those micro mosaic cards. Alex: ⁓ it's a nice car. I wouldn't, man, I wouldn't expect, ⁓ his car to be that car, especially to be $330. be like, cause I feel like those are not, not common, but like, I feel like they're not like that downtown or anything, but. Jason: It's just the name. did want to go with a downtown, but there's downtowns are like over a thousand dollars. All of them. I looked through so many downtowns trying to find like a budget downtown and know they are expensive. So I went with Micro Mosaic because I was like, this is a short print. It's my homes. I feel like that name carries a lot on like product. So you can have like a basic my homes, just a shiny my homes. And that's at least like five dollars just for just because it's my homes. Alex: I would love it. Um, but overall nice card though. I wouldn't expect it to be so much. Well, if I say that now, like I expect to get this Patrick Mahomes. Yeah. It's going to be worth a lot. Jason: Yeah, it's insane. He's a dog. always in the way of like the one of ⁓ favorite players getting serious, but you can't deny greatness. And he's a foundational player for a football collector out there. So what's your last guy? Whose number? Whatever this is. I lost count chat. Alex: is number two for me So we're make the baseball I picked the Barry bonds, baby bonds is one considered the one of the greats greatest baseball players holding the MLB record for career homerun single homerun season, it's 73 7 ⁓ mvp awards over 22 seasons He's earned 14 time all-star selections eight gold gloves and 12 solar awards becoming only player in 500 With 500 plus stolen bases and 700 home runs. um, reading about the one thing that, that, that's really affecting his, uh, his hall of fame is that the steroids stuff. like they're still trying to like figure out if he's allowed in yet, but, yeah, he also holds direct for the most MVPs and, and baseball. He has seven, it's crazy. So he's already established himself as one of the greatest. Jason: Mr. Steroids himself. Mm-hmm. Yeah, that man hit bombs out there. I I watched like I'm bored. I just randomly watched like MLB documentaries even at work. just walk on all the documentaries and he was insane. This man was good even before steroids and people just hate on him he used them. But that man hit so many home runs ⁓ time and now MVP. That's insane. ⁓ Tony was asked for. And Barry has seven that's. ⁓ Alex: And it's funny thing. was like trying to figure out what players were really established. when you look at the last 20 years of like MVP's all you see is Brabant, three, one, three, one, three, one, three runs. I was like, okay, I guess I'll just pick him as one of the greatest. Do think, ⁓ think show, he's going to catch up with that. Jason: Yeah I don't know, man. had video game numbers, Barry Bonds. it's so hard to tell, like, longevity with players. Like, Ohtani's going to have a lot of wear and tear in his career because he's going both ways. Like, eventually that shoulder's going to give out, that arm's going to give out. Maybe he needs some steroids, low-key, like, ⁓ end of his career. But Barry Bonds, like, that man is insane. I can't keep repeating it, but... Alex: Yeah. Jason: That dude's video game number. I didn't know he was on the Pirates either. When I was looking at the documentary, I was like, damn, he's not on the Pirates? Because everyone knows him from what? Giants? Alex: I the giant, I he was in the Yankees. Jason: No, he's a Giants player. Alex: I think he was supposed to go to the Yankees. That's why. Um, but yeah, I picked up his rookie card is the Don Russ 87. Him and his Pittsburgh uniform. it's a little bit cheaper. Um, but the reason I picked it is $3 raw. PSA nine is a 12. And if you want to $300 on a PSA 10, it's three, so three 79 for PCA 10, uh, down Russ rookie card of a Barry bonds, which is not that bad. That's something you can keep like forever. Jason: Yeah, like well, I'm looking for like his stats and stuff like that 73 home runs that's most in a single season we're surprised about Aaron Judge getting like around 50 home runs in a season 73 Uh, but that's a dope card alex. Yep. That's what's his it's his rookie card was there Alex: Thank Yeah. Jason: Yeah, super young Barry Bonds. I love that card. Yeah, a lot of his cards are cheaper. I remember there's one of his like basic rookie cards. He's going for like two bucks and people try to sell it for like 200 to catch people slacking. Oh, but yeah, dope card and definitely a foundational player. Alex: Something you keep out yourself. ⁓ Jason: For sure. Yeah, so that's gonna wrap up the addition for foundation pieces. are names that don't just hold value, but they define the hobby. From all-time greatness to once-in-a-generational talent, these players give your collection a strong, reliable core you can build around. Yeah, along with these foundational players, obviously go for your rookie cards, go for your young players, but these guys are like the core of it. Some honorable mentions I had was Tiger Woods Yes, he drives drunk and other substance abuse, but he is probably the greatest golfer of all time Obviously Kobe and Michael Jordan are very obvious options Both achieved a lot in their career. So very goats If you only soccer Ronaldo, they don't have that many cards, but they're expensive too. So Alex: Thager Woods. . Expressive cord. Jason: while all the goats are just pretty much foundational players. Alex: Yeah, it's something that you can get and just hold it for the next couple of years or just keep passing down for generation, generation of wealth, in my opinion. Jason: first. We're trying to get that long term value, not just quick guys who are going to disappear tomorrow, you know. So now let's move on to collector's corner. So, Alex, what players on your radar? know a lot of things coming out, a lot of baseball starting up, we're getting into the NBA playoffs. What's on your list of players on your radar? Alex: I just picked up a I finally picked up ⁓ Bobby Wood Jr. ⁓ purple refractor been wanting so some cards I know right Jason: Let's go. It's been like three episodes. You're like, yeah, Bobby, with this man everywhere I go, I can't grab his cards. That's dope. Alex: ⁓ yeah picked picked up because I sold the card and then I got the $10 credit from colics I was like, right cool when I paid I think ⁓ it was 27 plus shipping so it came out to like $11, which wasn't bad I picked that up. else have I been looking at? Because I ⁓ you if you hang out with me today like hang out with me throughout the day you see me is on ebay or looking at like Cards that really want. ⁓ jacob jemar morsky Jason: The Pitcher? Mizorowski? Alex: it's kind of my Zyrowski there we go. ⁓ ⁓ bad I was looking at ⁓ stats baseball this week and he is leading strikeouts for the Brewers Which is kind of crazy for a rookie? His cards are not that bad I was thinking of like something clicked his cards because I feel like he's gonna be a big turnout to be Something good the way he's playing right now No, yeah Jason: He's a dope player. I have him on my fantasy team and he bro just strikes out everyone. Cheap player too. I those like I saw a budget card for like seven bucks and it looked pretty dope at my local shop. Alex: His auto is 125 books. It's not bad. Yeah, I think he'll be one of those players you got to watch out for. Samuel Basalos, I looked at his cards. I wanted to get more of his because I feel like he's going to be a great, great catcher. I just, just, funny thing is that yesterday I got my cousin to baseball cards or like call it your cards in general. And every time we work out, we go to the store and buy like a pack. Jason: It's not bad, he's young too. Alex: I pulled a, what do call it? Samuel Beasal's image variation heritage. And it's worth like 20 bucks. And I was like, all right, cool. I'll take it. Something I'll keep forever. That's just kind of cool. Jason: yeah. Alex: I haven't been looking at other players, all besides those guys with baseball. Jason: Yeah. Yeah. So now my turn. So I went to Tom Brady. I want more of his like mid-level cards. So like around like 20, 30 bucks because I already have like my big three like rookie cards that I wanted of his. just like more like different parallels and like his Chrome card, his prism card, stuff like that. Alex: Okay. Jason: Young rookie young quarterback. So like Caleb and Drake, I want to pick up more of his prism cards Yeah, need to pick up his rookie cards. Like I said last episode the seasons coming around pretty quick. I think the drafts next week So they're gonna get stars. They're gonna get more players around them. They're gonna do great next guy cam ward I Picked up his green pulser prism. I was like 15 bucks. I was like Alex: Trick me! Fernando. wow. Jason: Why not? mean, he might do good. He might not do that well, but like 15 bucks. can't go wrong with the prism and cam ward. I think he's gonna have a great season. Big believer he's gonna have a breakout season. Alex: Yeah, I believe that because of the organization with a new coaching and a bit better, better staff. he probably do a little bit better in last season, which I can't wait for. Jason: Yeah, because he had flashes of greatness and then, his team just fell apart and he couldn't do much by himself. But now he has a new coach, new wide receiver. Yeah, a lot of NFL hype around it. I want to buy a lot of NFL right now. Stay away a little bit from. ⁓ And higher end cards. I want to get more mid level cards. I know there's a lot of like cheap case hits I want to get out there. So. Alex: Yeah. hiring cards. Jason: Let's keep an eye on that. Yeah, that's the players on my radar. So Alex, you got any experiences? I know it's been a kind of slow week. Nothing crazy. We haven't been to too many shows lately. Alex: ⁓ Yeah, we're just thinking of going to a show this weekend, but Jason's not going to go, Jason: Nah, it's Russell mania chat. Russell mania this weekend, brother. Alex: I have no one to get screwed over on cards with so and it's it's the the Grange or Countryside show up in my house, which is kind of um Three dollars to get him which is stupid and no, not three. I like five bucks and I hate that guy Jason: Yeah. No, that's like it's three dollars. It's three dollars. one that just started by me playing field. ⁓ They were five bucks and it's like their first show. I'm like. I don't know if there's sports cards in there. It just says cards, card show. I'm like, I am not spending five dollars, no matter how local it is. Alex: Mm. Thank you. Give me a free hot dog while you charge me $5 please. Jason: Yeah, like three dollars. get it. But these vendors are still paying money for their tables and that's going to pretty much help you cover whatever expenses you have. But yeah, no crazy experiences. I am waiting for my NFL Chrome cards to come in. My pack's about two blasters. I saw it shipped today, I think they're coming Friday. Probably opening it by like Sunday or Monday. Alex: people. Jason: I got plans this weekend, but besides that, got a card organizer. Pretty much just hold my all my supplies to like protect cards and all that stuff. Got a card stand to me and Alex matching card stands with our logo on it. Alex: next. It's really nice. I still gotta get my shirt and I got a card and I got a group room. We're looking good, bud. Jason: Yeah, yeah, you got to meet up eventually. Yeah, we'll meet up. yeah, nothing crazy. A lot of stuff happening in the card world, but no ⁓ experiences for us, at least. I know probably next week we'll have something to complain about. Alex: Well, the only thing I can complain about is that the stupid automatic way of getting like top sister introduced a new Way of getting a hobby boxes about somebody using bots Is where you raffle off the hobby box to give you a chance to buy one meme I did did not win the spots. So Uh, that kind of sucked and I found out that the case hits that you really want that they show like the kaiju and other stuff are only hobby Accessible mean you get about a hobby box and i want to get those hits which is Jason: I hate that so much. why even show it, man? Like, that's so dumb. Don't you want people to get hyped around your product? Alex: I know somebody just rolled the what's got Jane Daniels kaiju card for 12 grand. I was like gotta be kidding me, Jason: Yeah, that's insane. I also hate another hot take. I hate how these hobby shops upcharge from release like a blaster. ⁓ nine dollars. What are we doing? I get it like right after release a day after release. Sure. Bump the price up. But day of release, just put it for a normal price. Maybe I'll charge like 10 bucks. But like I'm charging 40, 50 bucks for ⁓ product. That's insane. That makes you want to not buy products from you. Alex: And the thing about that, you're going to make money still because one, the retail is going to be like, maybe what do think a bathroom like 60 bucks for retail? Jason: Yeah. Which house 40? Alex: Yeah, they're charge 60 you made an extra 20 bucks don't charge me 100 bucks for a freaking plaster Jason: Yeah, 100 that's pretty much a hobby box and like a a base hobby box somewhere. Alex: You might just go, well, it's the resale on hobby boxes are crazy. The jumbo, think this hobby box now is like going for like 600 and jumbo is like a thousand. Yeah, this is how he gets expensive. Jason: Yeah, like even then, like if I pick up a Heritage Hobby Box of baseball, that's like 150 sure. And I'm guaranteed something at least. And these blasters are guaranteed some parallels that are like probably get some bum players. I've spent like seventy dollars in like two blasters and like another product and got jack shit. just annoying. Alex: Yeah. So this, this week was tough on, uh, picking up, uh, or not picking up, just trying to get some cards, man. But yeah, overall, so I, you should, uh, stay out of breaks was telling Jason that the break was, oh my goodness, Jason, break was so expensive and it was, it was a crappy team. It wasn't even a good team either. Jason: Yeah, it's expensive hobby overall. Overall. I've been seeing more and more. I'm like, this is insane. A pack going for like 30 bucks. I'm like, I don't know about this. Alex: think the cardinals was like $300 and like $300 for the cardinals? my goodness. I don't like, what am I getting? freaking Kyle Murray auto? yeah, and then the last thing I this week, I got a Aaron Judge parallel, not parallel, what do you call it? A, what do you want to call it? A image variation of Aaron Judge, which is cool. So I'm kind of happy about that. Worth 60, $70. Hell yeah. All right guys. Thanks for listening to us today. It was a nice time. Jason: of you. Hell yeah. Alex: That's it. That's going to be our episode for today of Boomin Sports Cards. If you enjoyed the show, make sure you give us a follow on all socials wherever you enjoy podcasts.
