Jason: It's time for Boomer SportsCard's Player of the Week, where we spotlight legends whose impact still echoes not just on the field, but throughout the hobby. My name is Jason and alongside me as always is Alex Ready To Go. this week it is Bo Jackson, a true icon whose legacy continues to dominate both on the field and the hobby. Known for his rare true sport dominance in the NFL and MLB, Bo has an unmatched athleticism and a complete highlight reel. He still drives massive interest among collectors today, and from his legendary bow nose era to his explosive runs and jaw dropping plays, his cards remains a staple in the hobby. So Alex, do you have anything cool about Bo Jackson? Alex: Oh yeah, he owns the fastest 40 yard dash in time in NFL history. To this day, record is 4.12 seconds in which he's set. Jason: Yeah, I've heard of that. I listened to a couple podcasts of his and yeah, he mentioned that like, although it's unofficial, but there's multiple accounts where people say this man ran through the door in his like local gym where he ran this in front of like the track people. a man that big to run that fast, that's ⁓ Alex: you call a generational player. Jason: I feel like those, I feel like like the nineties running backs, they look so huge that you think that they will be slow. Like you see like Barry Sanders and like that's a stocky dude behind those pads, but like they were and they're super fast. Alex: Yeah, overall, both is a great player. Baseball, football, he's a legendary player. what, cards did you pick for him by any chance? Jason: So I started with my budget card. So my budget card I went with the NFL version. So I went ⁓ Jackson 185 black and white checker prism So this card I was looking through cards because my ads weren't working because mark and movers did some bullshit That's besides the point But was looking through like sold cards and this card came across my my my eBay I was like, this is really cool card. It's black and white it matches Alex: Yeah. Jason: the color of his jerseys that silver and black, the Raiders colors. is $40, PSA 9, 65, PSA 10, $333. I love this card. From ⁓ eye appeal, I actually bought the card. I impulsively bought it. ⁓ be fair, was a really good deal. It was like 20 bucks and it's going for like 40. Alex: You bought it? No. 20 bucks? That's not bad at all. Jason: So was like, I love Bo Jackson. He's one of the players I enjoy watching his documentaries of and hearing him talk. He's like a mythical character, to be honest. He is beyond human in my eyes. So yeah, I love this card. 40 bucks a raw. You can't go wrong with that. I got it for 20. That's a PC card right away. So what's ⁓ your card? I ⁓ mean, budget card. Alex: I picked up his his rookie tops card for football and it goes for 20 bucks, which isn't bad It's a rookie card of Bo Jackson and if you want to get a graded you get a 9 it's 92 you get a PSA 10 3000 which is kind of crazy the jump on it is real crazy, but Getting a greater one. I know right the getting it. See if you do want to buy a greater one a 9 isn't that bad and Yeah, this is a nice card Jason: That's insane. Alex: It was difficult trying to find a nice card of his because I feel like his top space one once don't look that nice for me. Jason: His cards are so like underrated like the price like you look at price They're so cheap 20 bucks for a rookie Bo Jackson. That's not bad at all I remember I was watching a tik-tok that some dude was opening like this case a case of this arm was it How does this case like I don't even know? Some 90s case, but he pulled one of these it was like super sentence like yeah, that's that's $3,000 right there. I'm like goddamn if it looks that good It's a dope card though Alex: Hell. Jason: So I love the art for it. Alex: If I had the chance, I'd if I see this at like the, at the nationals, I'd probably pick it up for 20 bucks. Jason: Yeah, yeah, I've always wanted to pick up like his rookie cards because I know he has multiple on the Kansas City and this Raider one's dope. I love that. Yeah. Two nice budget cards. A lot of his rookies are really cheap. Alex: ⁓ yeah. ⁓ it might actually might go up when he gets to that point. ⁓ what is the second card you picked? What's your high end card? Jason: So high end I flipped it to baseball so I went with the 2026 home field advantage short print From the from the jump when I saw this pop up with with the new release of tops Was like I need this card. I've yet to get this card because it's raw prices 255 it's going down 14 % There's no greater cards yet It's a Joe card. It's in his Royals. He's breaking the bet on his on his leg. Like that's iconic. That's one of the iconic things that Bo Jackson did. It has the water. It's like I don't know if you've seen the Kansas City Royal Stadium. They have like a huge like waterfall in the outfield. Pretty cool. He has a lion. That King of the Jungle kind of mentality, you know. I don't know why he has that like that. What's that? Oh, Batman. Yeah. Alex: I would not that nice. What is it? Jason: I don't know why he has that, but that's... I wanna look that up now. That's strange. Alex: Maybe the field is just for banning it sometimes, maybe? I don't know. Jason: Dude, I have no clue, but it's a dope card. I love the art to it and has that iconic picture. Can't go wrong with it. Yeah, 255. That's one of the cards I will eventually get. hard to pay that much for like a card that's not like, I don't know. Yeah, yeah, like, you know what Bo Jackson was. ⁓ his cards will go up when he, you know, unfortunately passed away, but like. Alex: That's not a price though. And I act a player, yeah. Yeah, I didn't want to say it earlier, so yeah. Jason: Yeah, but we know Bo Jackson's a legend. So what's your higher undercard, Alex? Alex: So like trying to find a card of his was took a minute but I picked up a what's called It is a should have the name but it's a clearly downtown. I think 2021 it goes for 590 and 850 there's no 10 sold But the tens go for like a thousand twelve hundred, etc it's a downtime especially a clearly downtown clearly downtown's are hard to get because especially the product clearly is really hard to get by itself. Cause in order to get the down roast clearly you gotta get the hobby box. I don't think they really do blasters and make boxes. So it's a little rarity. Jason: So like the background is just translucent, you can look like right through it besides like the art. Is that what it means? Yeah. Alex: Yeah, the whole card is translucent except for him and the boat. It's like a... you ever seen those glass cards? It's like that, but like plastic. Jason: that's dope. Yeah, yeah, like they had the bunch of rookie ones. I remember they had like a Caleb one some other ones Alex: Yeah. Yeah, it's not bad to downtown. If I had the money, would, well, would buy one of these. Just stay out of it. That'd be cool. Jason: Yeah, that's a dope card. I like the pirate ship, the Raiders pirate ship. looks like he can be on Bikini Bottom in this picture. Next to SpongeBob and the boys. Alex: Yes sir, next to the boys on there. Just running on the ball around. Jason: Hell yeah, I like the downtown. Downtown's pretty dope. But yeah, he's such a legend. I mean, he had a short career overall. mean, Raiders, he only played for four seasons. Had 16 rushing touchdowns, baseball, eight seasons, 141 home runs. He had probably a better baseball career than football, which is insane to say, because this man was a highlight reel overall. yeah, so Bownose. Bownose. Alex: Bo knows this, Bo knows that. Bo knows that he is crazy. Jason: bonos that that meant that was a legend and i think he's local to use he's still living in illinois don't play Alex: looks like we didn't autograph soon, but yeah, that's gonna be wrapping up for the player of the week We're featuring Bo Jackson and shout out to Bo Jackson ⁓ knows everything if you enjoyed this episode Don't forget to ⁓ the show share with another collector and stay stepped in the Boomer sports cards.
