Jason: all collectors to another episode of Boomin Sports Cards, the podcast where the hobby stays hot and the card stays boomin. I'm one of your hosts, Jason. Alex: And I'm Alex. They were breaking down sport card brands, where they come from, what are known for and what they stand in the hobby right now. Let's get right into it. Jason: Let's do it. So tops, panini, upper deck, sage, recovering them all. The history, the popular products, the sports they cover, whether you're new to collecting or a seasoned veteran, knowing your brands is part of knowing the hobbies. All right, let's start from the grandfather of the hobby, tops. Alex: was founded in 1938 originally as a candy and gum company. Mazooka bubble was one of their biggest hits But what really put them on the map was the baseball cards for over two decades They held a monopoly as only printing company licensed major league baseball cards Jason: I bubble gum. Alex: Bubble gum, bubble gum, bubble gum. Jason: What do you- how much would I pay you to get one those bubblegums from like the 80s or like 90s? Alex: I was you was funny with the car jobs other day and I was contemplating buying a pack of like old baseball cards because My chop had nothing interesting because it's a draw right now and I was like, I wonder I Think I did look it up. I think it there that so it's not good to consume old all the gum Jason: Mm-hmm No, I mean, there's like that myth where like if you chew gum or if you eat the gum, it's like stuck in your like stomach for like years or whatever. I don't know if that's true or not, but yeah. Alex: I don't think that's real, but I would- if I'm really out want some gum I guess I'll choose that if it's the only thing close near me. Jason: For like a Caleb auto you do it. Alex: Is it graded? Is it a PSA 10? Jason: Yeah, you never know. Yeah, so Topps is known for its classic flagship Topps baseball. Clean, simple, iconic, but under the umbrella, they also have Topps Grom, Topps Heritage, and Bowman. And Bowman is a huge prospect for collectors. First Bowman cards are some of the most valuable in the hobby right now. Alex: As the current aspect of the landscape, Fanatics acquired a TOPS in 2022. TOPS already produces all the MLB cards recently adding the new NFL riots in 2026. And then in 2025 of October, we'll claim the NBA trading card license. So they're building back towards covering all the major sports. Crazy. Crazy, crazy, crazy. Jason: Yeah, that was a crazy when they both launched the hype was real around that people when I went to their store when they launched NBA and and like was lines out there and then people waiting got a free poster out of it. So, yeah, tops ⁓ is number right now. ⁓ It's the of hobby. ⁓ What's your thoughts on tops, Alex? Alex: expensive and they're hard to get that's it's the rarity of finding these boxes at the store right now. ⁓ popular, like the football that just came out there. I don't think the prices are too bad. It's just things, the scarcity of like finding the boxes and something good. maybe in the last month I've only seen, ⁓ I maybe like, we've, found those hangers that lit and I got you and my cousin, those, ⁓ those hangers. That's what you do for your friends, you know? I was like, Jason, you want some hangers? And he's like, yeah, I'll take those. Jason: Yeah, good thing I said yes, because I have not seen any topscrum at all and I've gotten to like dicks multiple times, all these like target multiple times and I have not been able to find them. So there is some scarcity to some of their products for sure. Alex: But yeah, in the last month or beginning of this, I've only seen hangers and two blasters. I've not seen a Mega Box at all. I don't know help you were getting Mega Boxes there. Jason: Yeah, that's strange. That's strange. Yeah, in my opinion, the products is very good. mean, they have key athletes who signed for them, they're like top. That makes them top, top of the league of cards. A lot of new short prints. I feel like recently for baseball, like for the longest, baseball has been like very traditional, like their designs were very traditional. And now they're trying to get out of that shell by inserting like mangas and like all these different short prints like the all kings. So I think they're doing a very good job to like modernize their product. Alex: Yeah, they just like for the new Bowman they just added those like, what is it? Not Kaiju cards or like ⁓ cards or something like that. I don't know they're called. It's like, like we got the one with Cooper flag and it says like main event or something like that. Jason: I've seen that, yeah. Yeah, I've seen that. don't know what they're called, but yeah, those are dope. I do think their base cards are kind of lackluster. the NFL Chrome design is same as the Topps Baseball Basketball Series one. Like they lack creativity. I'm like, if you have like all these big licenses, do more with your base cards. Like they bring no feeling of you getting a cool card, even though it's not worth that much. Alex: Those are dope. Facebook. Yeah, that's one of the things that like, I felt like, like, it's like a slap to the face. Cause if you looked at the one previous year, but that one was without the license, it felt like something new. But when you looked at the new one this year, like, it feels like I'm just collecting baseball again. And I really don't really like half the stuff I got out of the stupid hanger or blaster. And I'm like, right now, I don't know. And it just makes you know, I want to buy half the stuff. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, I they're already expensive as it is and you have like these pretty they're cool players. We love NFL. Me and Alex, big NFL guys. But like we see that design. Sure, it's a little bit shiny, but it's the design overall is just discouraging. Like you don't want you don't want to buy more of that product because, yeah, you're probably going to pull some bombs and you're going to have these basic ass cards. Alex: Big enough. But base top cards, if you get like a certain type of player, say we like for Shohei, Aaron Judge, any professional player that's either one VP, one like World Series, those cards do go even though, even though it's a base card. So that's like one of the things that you see out of tops that they might have basic cards, but those basic cards might have mentioned they have like value in the future. Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah, they also do like that trade-in thing. I think that's a little bit of true mention of it. Yeah, I mean, they do have some cool designs. Some of my favorite is the ultraviolet all-stars. I got the berry bonds I showed you. I love that because like the colors really pop out. I love negative refractors. I don't know if it's a top-seclusive, but I just love them. I want to grab some. Alex: Yeah. Yeah, native fractors or SPs. So get your favorite player where you can get them. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, all kings. I pulled that Jack Haglione and I was like, this is a pretty dope card. Like it felt like nothing like I've ever seen before. And it has curved edges of the card. So that was pretty cool. ⁓ What's your favorite designs of tops? There's so many. Alex: more of a complaint here. There is a lot though, like I'm trying to figure out what is my favorite design. I really like the only thing that really sticks out for me is the Bowman cards. They don't look like, like the ⁓ of the baseball stuff. Those look great. ⁓ and field advantages. Those popped out. They're like downtowns, but for tops, those look pretty good. We just recently saw that Mayor Cami just got one. So he said, we're going to see those coming out soon. It's gonna be like a thousand dollars when somebody freaking sells it Jason: Yeah, they look nice though these newer versions compared to like the last couple of years they look really nice Alex: I'm a big X-Factor friend, like collecting X-Factor. It's one of ⁓ big things for me. Because do have value if you have a good player and if it's a rookie card, it's overall something to keep. For me, feel like they're much, not hard to get, but they're more like a little niche for me. ⁓ Jason: Mm hmm. Yeah, those are dope designs. As for value in the market, like tops is pretty much the big dog of value. Yeah, I mean, they pretty much have the three biggest sports ⁓ and their older cards. mean, tops LeBron, tops Brady, tops Curry. All those cards are nearly double the amount of flair or upper deck of those athletes like their rookie cards. So, ⁓ yeah. Alex: Woof woof woof. Jason: their prices go up and Topps is now just a prestigious brand and a hobby overall. Alex: Yeah, you get so top is the big thing with all the big players they have pricing is kind of crazy. ⁓ think overall people do prefer tops over everything. Jason: Yeah, definitely. next up Panini, the brand that used to run basketball and football for over a decade. Alex: Brothers Benito and Giuseppe Panini started out in Modena, Italy back in 1961. And the sticker business that grew into the world's largest company, Collectibles company. The US presidents officially started in 2009 when they purchased Downrost and acquired the MBA license. Jason: And from there they took over Prism, Mosaic, National Treasures. Panini built the modern era of basketball and football cards. Prism became the standard. If a rookie blows up, collectors are hunting for Prism base and the silver and other color parallels. That's the benchmark. And we have so many of those parallels of Caleb and I have Drake May. Drake May. Alex: ⁓ But the landscape is shifting. Panini lost NBA license in October 2025 when it transferred to Fnatic slash Taos. They're also set to lose the NFL license in 2026. Panini area and the U.S. basketball and football is winding down. Jason: very unfortunate. still hold soccer rights like the FIFA World Cup, UEFA, Nations League, La Liga, Serie A and more. So globally, they are still a massive brand. But ⁓ what you think about Panini where they headed now? I mean, they just lost two of the biggest sports leagues the world. Alex: Do you think it'll be easier to get a downtown now when I can buy a bunch of cheap boxes? Jason: Yeah, you never know. Hopefully they keep them cheap and hopefully their designs don't go super plain. Alex: They just released, I don't know what they released. They released something the other day over at VJH.com. He's like the, he's in like the box. Jason: I did see that. Yeah, it was like VJ and like Jeremiah Fierce and it's like some other guy. can't remember the other guy. Alex: I think Cooper flag is like, isn't Cooper flag only like tops? Maybe the only sign that don't. That's not a, that's not a suck. like, you don't, you don't think you can get a, well, we probably won't, um, get a downtown of Cooper flag. Jason: Yeah, that's tops. I don't know, cause like Panini for the longest had Luca only as an exclusive, but now randomly Luca's now in Tops Bowman. So I don't know how that works. Alex: Uh, yeah, I know that works. Um, but yeah, I've seen downtown, uh, and seen downtown with, uh, various designs don't look too bad. They've worked, they worked their way around not using the license stuff. So, um, uh, they showed a John Marant one knife. If you really want to John Marant that's on you. Um, Jason: Hell yeah, Jomarant. Yeah, Panini has some like really cool case hits. mean, Downtown's Kabooms, those have very loud colors and I love it. got Panini, you got the Prisms like we said, they're very desired, have a clean design and has like all the recent rookies in them so they still hold a lot of value. And I feel like their biggest knock is they don't use game use patches. Alex: Thanks. Hate that. Jason: and that really diminishes the value and the significance of that card. Alex: If I just wanted a freaking wannabe game used crap, I just cut a sock and cut my sock and put them in a card. Yeah, it does. have so many patch cards that don't have any value. People like them. like, for like cheap, like five bucks, 10 bucks, because the store, the favorite player and people were like, still like it. So even though it's like game work. Jason: Yeah Yeah, and we have like those cases where like they like rip card open and that's like some athlete who's on the same team. Alex: This isn't nine from the Minnesota bike. It's Kyle Murray. Jason: Right? so now they're shifting to soccer. I'm a big soccer guy. Before I got into cards, I I love the World Cup sticker books. So just hunting for your favorite nation's players. So, ⁓ yeah, feel like soccer is going to be their next focus and they're going to go all in. It is the biggest sport in the world. So they're probably be good without the license of these big teams, big leagues, but. It's gonna be interesting where they go. Alex: Yeah overall with previous like license or key cards. Those will shoot up extraordinary because Those cards no longer going to be licensed Any cards to be licensed? So I think overall like prison cards football basketball Those will shoot up over time because ⁓ there's no like those cards like with that player. So ⁓ with the ⁓ Jason: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they've dominated for so long and they still have like exclusive athletes. think Mahomes is one, Caitlin Clark's one, Luca. So they still have these big athletes that will only sign for them. So there will be some, type of want the consumer. So they still have value on the market and Prism is much the standard for some rookie cards that people chase. Alex: No. Yeah. That's six from home, but they do have the license for WNBA. So you guys can eat your kale and car can page back your cards On to the next. Now let's talk about Upperdeg, a brand that generally changed the game when it arrived. Jason: Upward got their MLB license in 1988, delivered their first card in early 1989. They immediately stood out, better card stock, better photography. They introduced hologram authentication to five counterfeiting. They raised the bar for everybody. Alex: By 1990, they had a license for the NHL, NBA, and NFL making the first company in 10 years to license but all for major sports at once. And 1997, they were the first to insert game use materials and cards that innovation the whole hobby uses today. That's kind of cool. Jason: Yeah it is. Hockey is now their home. Upper Deck holds the exclusive NHL and their Young Guns rookie subset. It's legendary in that space. if you collect Hockey, Upper Deck is really your top tier option. Alex: On the basketball side, they lost the NBA license in 2009 and haven't had it since. They still produce unlicensed baseball products. official team logos, but their SP Authentic line still carry weight with high-end collectors. Upper Deck Inquisition set the standard for luxury cards in the ⁓ People still talk about those sets. Jason: So what's the verdict on Upper Deck Alex? I know there's a lot of cool old school cards. your overall thoughts on Upper Deck? Alex: I did recently not recently back in october. I did recently open a hobby blacks for hockey to try it out because I really wanted a young ⁓ young rookie card of connor bradard Didn't get it ⁓ kind of the whole product I Preferably would not buy again because they have a lot of inserts. They have a lot of variations of different cards um, maybe it's just me because I don't know a lot about hockey and I feel like when I went through Some of the stuff to have the stuff didn't really have any value like everything was less than a dollar dollar to three dollars and um Overall something I would not try to buy Like product wise now, but for the older cards, those are kind of like out of reach because like so expensive Jason: Yeah. Yeah. Upper Deck is like a very nostalgic brand. They don't have like the most product available on the shelves like the two prior brands, but they have history. mean, they have the rookie Ken Griffey Jr. that holds a lot of value in the hobby. have some Tiger Woods cards, some old school athletes. As we mentioned, hockey's their main focus, but they also have like golf, A.W. wrestling and some other products that combine all the sports. Yeah, like Alex said, I'm not a hockey fan either. opening these upper deck cards are not my priority. But do see a lot of cool designs out of them. I do want to get a Connor Bredard because he's a Chicago player. So yeah, I have too much to say upper deck. They have cool cards and I love that rookie Ken Griffey Jr. It's iconic. Alex: Jesus knows, can't grip me. Jason: Yeah, shout out Ken Griffey. Got that card. Only Ken Griffey card. Need to get more. right. So that's enough about Upperduck. We love Upperduck, but yeah, shout out Upperduck. All So let's talk about one that doesn't shine enough, Sage. Alex: shelter predictor. The name stage actually comes from a mashup of two founders named Sadlak and Gidman. Their whole lane is pre-rookie cards. Guys coming out of college right at the draft stage before they are officially in the league. Jason: of their cards are licensed by the major leagues, so no official team logos, but that's allows them to get prospects first and keep price accessible. Their flagship products ⁓ are Hits and Sage Aspire, both heavy on autographs. Alex: And the one thing Sage gets credit for is all their autos are already in the box, no redemption. You pull it, you have it. That's a real selling point compared to some bigger brands where you're waiting a year for redemption to come back. Jason: For football especially if you don't have the earliest autograph of that traffic, Sage is your brand. what do you think about Sage? It's very, I don't think I've seen too many of their products. I see people opening up, but I've never seen in store. Alex: ⁓ I seen them in stores just like the other day I texted you about like retail drought. That's what, that's what I meant. Like I'm not going to buy a box of Sage. No, no offense. Sage, Sage CEO. Jason: Damn, we just missed a Sage sponsorship. Alex: Yeah, they're gonna give me some pre college or like pre draft people who are not gonna make the league. Jason: Yeah. I love Sage. Sage, sponsor me, not Alex. Alex: once Jason Jason wants all the autos of guys ⁓ But the thing with sage is that they don't really obtain like a good players, you know Like can't I don't think they have cam ward. I think they do but like there's limited amount of cam ward autos but they have like a like a flood of like a Variations of different different ⁓ players. We like autos on there like you speak. We never heard of on the funny side Jason: Love football. Yes. Alex: A lot of people give out sage cards like as like extra cards. have a Justin Fields sage card ⁓ you think him and the dude from the Jets What's guy's name the isn't playing doesn't play anywhere they draft into the Jets It's like Wilson something Yeah, I have a Zach Wilson sage Jason: so random. position. ⁓ Zach Wilson? He's a dolphin right now. Alex: Well, it was before I think you hit this freaking chance, but shout out to Zach. Jason: He likes mulfs. This is how Zach Wilson sponsor us. No, no. like like ⁓ I said, ⁓ personal friend never heard of Sage, but what I've seen, they have a lot of athletes you wouldn't think is in their product like QBs from like non top five schools or wide receivers, defensive players you don't that don't get enough recognition. This product is really for big time ball knowers. Because more than likely, you're not getting that stars on the cover, you? Alex: Yeah. Jason: You're getting some dude who's like fourth on the death chart or like some dude who might make the NFL might not. Their designs are pretty lackluster. mean, they don't I know they don't have the license, but their car design is pretty, ⁓ basic. I feel like they should use more color. If you don't have license, just keep using more color because then that would attract some consumers. Yeah. If ⁓ I an orange Caleb Williams, even though if it's not licensed, ⁓ I'll that. I'll grab that. If I see a red Drake May, get that. Yeah, but yeah, so that's Sage. ⁓ Alex: Trick me. Jason: right. We can't close it out without giving some love a few more brands worth knowing. Alex: another pretty rookie brand similar to Sage a lot of autograph products successful price point Jason: And if you're dinging through vintage boxes, you'll run into FLIR, a classic from the 80s and 90s before they eventually went under. Upperdack won the FLIR auction in 2005, and Pacific is another 90s brand that no longer is around but still shows up in collections. Alex: of those brains standing out to you, Jason? Jason: ⁓ I love Fleer. I feel like Fleer is a very underrated brand. obviously the big iconic card is that Michael Jordan Fleer rookie card that neither of us would ever own unless we win the lottery or yeah, or we find it somehow. doubt it. but yeah, I love Fleer. have a Fleer, ⁓ LeBron James, which Alex: Michael of Jordan But we trade up. Jason: Oddly enough, it's like 80 bucks. I'm like, this dude's a, it's a rookie LeBron. Cart design is pretty nice. And I don't know if people sleep on Flare. Alex: Goodbye. Flair has a lot of good cards. ⁓ know they have like a Dyrrk Rose, Rookie Flair, I really want. Jason: Yeah, yeah, have that one too, yeah. I forgot I have that card. Alex: Thanks Jason. Now I want one. Jason likes to show off guys. let you know. Fleero is pretty good. Overall people just remember like the big cards like Jordan, Derrick Rose, anybody who has like a good rookie card. Leaf, Leaf, Leaf is alright. They have a large amount of one-on-ones, one-on-twos, one-on-threes. So you can actually get a one-on-one from like a blaster they have. And the thing is, Jason: You Yeah. Alex: You might be saying like, one-on-ones is great. Why are you saying like it's a bad thing? They mass-produce one-on-ones so much that a one-on-ones like not really that valuable in a LEAF standard. What's kind of hurting? Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah, those leaf cards, they make so many and like I have one leaf card and it's a It's a Frank Thomas autograph. The cards nothing out of this world. I just like Frank Thomas But there's so many numbered cards of like athletes you don't know but there's also like Alex had those 101s they don't hold that much value because they're non licensed Sometimes the designs are just ugly Alex: Yeah, and then like the other day one I wanted to buy a Lillian Laminia my one but like of the guys was over pricing it for like 200 bucks and and then if you like search up on like call eBay you'll find like a bunch and you know, like really I don't really think this is a 101 This is more like a freaking factory one. So we we don't know we're never truly know if it's a one one on you know Jason: Yeah. I don't know if you saw, I sent you a TikTok today. ⁓ So FLIR is actually getting sued by the NFLPA. Not FLIR, I'm sorry. I think it was LEAF. Yeah, LEAF. Because they, I guess some athletes didn't give them permission to be on their product. So now they're getting sued, which is hilarious and shocking like, I guess they just said, fuck it, we're running these players on our products. So they might go under. Alex: What the hell? Why? Jason: or pay a lot of money to the NFL. Alex: What money? Freaking... I think somebody's gonna buy a Leaf and Leaf's gonna watch- I gave it like money that pays and I'm gonna a Leaf and like somehow Leaf is gonna automatically be better but uh still not licensed and have the crap they give out, it's like really bad. Jason: Yeah. Mm-hmm. All right. That's the raft for the sports card brands. The hobby has a deep history and still evolving right now. Tops rising back, Panini transitioning back, transitioning out of major US licenses, upper deck holding down hockey. It's a great time to be a collector and to know what you're buying. So now let's transition to collector's corner. So Alex, there's so many cards like we mentioned every time. We talk cards every day, cards, cards, cards, and more cards, new products coming out. saw there's a new NFL product coming out soon, new MLB coming out soon. So Alex, what is some players on your radar? Alex: I wanted, because the NBA playoffs are going off and believe in your teams that you still like. Like I believe in the Pistons. I feel like they're going to do well. ⁓ Jason: My sixers are getting dog walked by the Knicks right now. But we beat the Celtics. We beat the Celtics. Fuck the Celtics. Yes. Alex: We beat the Celtics as BJ is killing another fuck suck I wanted to buy a blue 90 NBA 70 diamond SP rookie of his but man looking at his cards I don't know if it's the bike the year or like that. It's just that crap class the centering on those cards are horrible Jesus the cake hunting him SP Jason: Witch player? Hmm. Alex: blue diamond one. Um, I wanted to buy one of his, but the centerings is horrible. Like I went through like each one and like, I'm like, you guys are, what are you charging on this card? Am I great? Am I going to nine? I want to be annoyed. Um, he's going to go. Jason: Yeah, it's so hard to look for for center cards cuz yeah It takes me so long. I'm like, I'm willing to pay a little bit more but like Just let me find one that actually looks good Alex: Like that's the thing and then you go through like the variations of like other people who have it and they're selling it and you're like man, he he's cards are horribly on centered play and then I realized it's just like I thought it was just his cards It's everybody's card in that set everybody's cards and that's it has horrible centering. So like I think that's why the cards are so Valuable at the same time because they're hard to grade well prison Jason: Yeah. Yeah, the one you just sent me. Yeah, that's very sided. looks like it's a cool card, but like. Yeah, like, do you really want to spend that much money on a card that's lopsided? Alex: Yeah. ⁓ I don't know my heart Might just find that at a show and hope somebody like has it under a hundred bucks. I'll just buy it ⁓ likes person Victor Remy, you know, he's last first game, but he already broke a record for People were saying that like have those blocks are go tending so they don't really count my bro. What's the? Can't hate on him Jason: It's tricky. haha Yama. I was in the 11 blocks. They're just hating. He's not the ref, he's not calling them gold tending or blocks. Alex: But yeah, lost the first game, but he's doing, what's the technique? That's his first NBA playoffs loss. Jason: day. Alex: Um, but why is it didn't they lose the the first game? Oh, yeah, they did Jason: I don't think he played in that loss. Alex: Okay, so I guess maybe a second But overall picked up a britton got montgomery card auto on card from the bowman series ⁓ I I almost bought two and ⁓ I saved because somebody outbid me another one I picked another laminia mall card from the stadium collection. The stadium was chrome base It's man. His cards are going crazy Jason: See you bros. Yeah, we got the same car now. Alex: even for a base card. Jason: Dude, it's insane. Like I told you about that slab, that base, Laminia Mall, Champions League for a hundred bucks. And what was it? was near the holidays. I think it was December and now it's 300. So yeah. Alex: Jason gets lucky. I can't buy I'm not lucky ⁓ Jason: I've invested in some good cards. Like I like that my home's the La Mena Mall. Who else? think I got someone else. Wemby, yeah. Alex: Wemby card that wemby card you get the new isn't that like a 10 you pay like a hundred bucks for like 120 Jason: Yeah, I think 120 I paid for it and now it's... Yeah, it's insane. Alex: It's like almost like $300 Picked up a rookie of the year flag major one rookie of the year and then when it's a Camaracami his red Jersey tops now home run card His cards are going crazy. They're hard to find Jesus Christ. Everybody selling this card for 50 bucks in that. Oh my goodness I just bought one for 20 another quick 50 bucks Jason: Damn, dude he's going nuts. mean, him and JarJar are battling for the most home runs in the league. Like every game is one of the other. Alex: Um, I just saw his auto from the black chrome series sell for $7,000. People were believing in him because they're doing a lot of stats checks with like, like, all right. Yeah. I mean, compare his rookie stats to show haystacks and then they find out that they're the better. They show a haystacks. Jason: ⁓ shit. he's Asian they're just comparing them to you sick fucks Alex: like relax not Let go. Let me go win rookie of the year and like don't sit expectations for him were Jason: Yeah. Calm it down a little. He's only 25 too, so he's super young. Alex: Yeah, it's funny though. Have you ever seen me Spanish? Jason: Yeah, I've seen that. so those are dope. A lot of good cards you're getting. Alex: ⁓ yeah. What about you, Jason? I know you love cards. Jason: I'm still waiting a Drake May card that I ordered. ⁓ got the purple. I got the purple Ray. is it called? Purple Shock. That's still yet to come. ⁓ But I'm looking at right now, I'm looking to buy a Patrick Mahomes rookie. I talked to Alex about this. I want to get this rookie card, but ⁓ the won't go down on this price. It's a fair price, but I'm like, do I wait? Do I hold? I don't know. Alex: Trick me. public for shotguns. Jason: think it's a good time to buy my homes personally because he's injured right now and he still has two Super Bowls so he still has a long time to end his career. Oh he has three I'm sorry yeah he three. Another guy. You're going? Yeah just my homes dude like we need to hop on that bandwagon right now before he goes crazy because that division goes through my homes no matter what. Alex: She is definitely the He only hits two up in here, like three or something. but yeah, like it's crazy ⁓ I he's gonna be good by the middle of season. I saw something online that said that he's like ready working out and stuff. I don't like that. Jason: Yeah, like, Bros and Be Arrested, I can see him going to zero. Like, not to be dramatic, but it's my home. Alex: You guys got a bunch of traffic. God damn it. You guys load him up with s- Jason: Yeah, they got Kenneth Walker too, so it's like... You never know. Alex: Can I walk her back to the end of Super Bowl and be crazy? Jason: I'd be for the Kenneth Walker. But that's the point. I want to start collecting all the Drake May X-Fractors. There's a lot coming out from Chrome. mean, there's that bass one, there's a lime one, there's a hot pink one. But there's also some like inserts that like have the X-Fractor design on them. So I want to start doing that. And then rookies, I want to give more VJ edge to them. Just dudes a dog. Love him. Alex: You do? Probably didn't hit. You just picked up his B-screw because he just made the second round of the playoffs. Jason: Yeah, dude's a dog and he has a bright future. Yeah. Alex: Man, you know what's terrible though for me? Conk and Ipple cards are crashing right now so hard. Jeez. Jason: It's so hard, dude. Like, yeah, that blackout card's not like 40 bucks. I know this to be like 70, 80 nearly. Alex: The top scrum out of 399 was like 80 bucks and I was like $30 and I went flipping out because like I just sent it to get graded like I'm one to go I'm like I'm not even mad that you didn't get So I'm just hoping it gets like a nine or ten saw I'll probably keep I just hope that guy actually turned out to be something much better than what he is I just hope Jason: Next draft class can be stacked, there might be a change of hype around players. Alex: I more work cards, more crap I gotta, I might have to sit at the store and just wait for like, I already know someone's going to call me out on this. I don't care. I already know my vendor for that, my target. And that guy does not like me at all, but I'm always nice to him. Like I come up to him, Jason, I'm like, Hey man, how are doing today? He gives me a 30 years attitude and 30 years look in my face. He's like, wait in line, like the rest of everybody, or he told me just grab whatever you want. I'm like, Jason: That's tricky. Hehehe Alex: I'm not a scalper. just, just, I just like cards. And then then you, then you see the scab of it. All the stupid Pokemon cards and like, I'm like, I'm not one of them. Just because I wear shorts and like a baggy t-shirt doesn't mean I, I don't shower. All right. Jason: Damn, daycare? Okay. insane. So let's move on to experiences. I'll start first. I'm just organizing storage case. I have like two big cases. One's for my personal and then the other one's just like random number cards or like cool card designs that are worth not that much. But I'm fixing on my PC case. I'm getting more of like those dividers and like separating by like players and like rookie cards. Alex: Easy. Jason: So I'm doing more of that, just organizing cards, making it cooler. What about you, Alex? You got anything cool? Alex: I'm doing the same thing because I have so many cards that I had like this little shelf thing like where I thought like I don't know the divider but like I divide each like like by three so I have like a it's one two three four five six six thing six row thing I'm dividing on my cards I want to sell so well I hope today's Wednesday so I've been celebrating cards into like veteran baseball but a veteran football veteran Baseball and like rookie rookie rookie cards and like I don't really want you I don't really like you was maybe somebody else so so I've been putting stuff online Well, I haven't been putting everything on my it's been like organizing the show because I have so many cards. I'm like Maybe I sell all these cards online. I'll make some money back so I can buy more cards that actually want The other experience Oh, yeah experience that Pokemon target thing this week, I don't know if you seen that Jason: Mm-hmm. ⁓ we don't. Nah, not a Pokemon guy. Alex: on Pikachu doesn't ⁓ Jason: This is a sports podcast. Fuck Pokemon. Fuck Pokemon. Alex: Fuck Pokemon. I'm here for Mahomes and Drake Man. I don't give a fuck about Pikachu. Jason: Yeah, I want I want my players to actually tear their ACLs and not I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Alex: I like real I like real players. I don't like digital little kids go you collect sports cards I experienced that this week. ⁓ It's the target had a collab of Pokemon and men Man, man, you could tell like who doesn't have a job and who's there to scalp and who's there to try to get something for their kid? because ⁓ And I ⁓ Jason: smelly Pokemon collectors. sports fans can never Alex: No sports fans can never we're worse. We're not worse. I don't think we're worse Yeah, wait in line I got there eight months my mom my mom loves pokemon I'll stay in line for her anytime she wants Because I don't do shit. I don't have the time besides look at cards wouldn't talk Jason my cards have to talk Yeah, wait in line you get I could tell who's there for what and man. I hate you know, I hate the most is when they say you can grab two I've each item and everything's gone with them than the first 10 people because they have a certain amount of stock. So like everybody grabs two of each, everything on there. ⁓ all of those left there was like a little thing for like Pokemon makeup and like, like a wannabe bag. So I was like, man, this is like the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. Grown people. And that man, I, you ever seen a little kid cry, Jason? one of these things it's fun because. Jason: No, but I would love to. Alex: can see the glint in that kid's eyes die when he ⁓ how bad the world is. Jason: It's a cruel world, mostly if you're a Pokemon fan. Alex: He looked at, he, and all he cares, mommy, is there any more left? And I'm like, sorry kiddo. You're screwed. And your mommy. Jason: And just got people stiff-arming them, stiff-arming little kids. Alex: Then the jackets, had like these Pokemon Jack windbreakers, man, they look cool. I'm not gonna lie. I, guy grabs all of them ⁓ and cause didn't have a limit. Cause he said only limit on the Pokemon like merchandise, like keyboards, all that. He didn't say the jackets. grabs them buys them all. I'm wondering how much, why do people buy these jackets? I look online, they're all selling for $300. And I'm like, okay, somebody's selling these for $300 doesn't mean people buying it. Jason: Damn. Peace. Alex: So I hit the sold, part of the eBay. Jason, somebody's buying this crap. Like who's buying this fucking windbreak for Jason: Pokemon people. Alex: love cards. That's I'm gonna say It's gonna do it for today's episodes of boomi sports cards If you enjoyed the show make sure you give us a follow on social and where we enjoy podcast stay ripping stay collected Remember the hobbies always booming will catch me next time. Jason: See ya.
