Jason: Welcome, welcome, to another episode of Boomin' Sports Cards, the podcast where the hobby stays hot and the cards stays booming. I'm one of your hosts, Jason. chat: And I'm Alex, so we'll be looking at the headlines around the hobby. We've got a plenty to talk about. We'll break down top's new strategy of shipping products to help combat flipping. Share three cards we'll be hunting at the nationals that might be want to add to your own wish list and wrap things up with the wildest hobby stories we've seen in a while involving a a collector, a one-on-one Ronda Lucuna Jr. card, and the trade offer you truly have to hear about. Jason: So let's get right into it. So the manufacturer tops is testing a new strategy to prevent reselling of sealed products by for a profit by shipping boxes without plastic seals. Top said in a social media statement, well, the cards and contents inside Remains untouched, removing the factory seal helps discourage the immediate resale and give more collectors an opportunity to get pro to purchase at retail. So, Alex, you like this? Do you like this? chat: I do like it. I do like it. I just don't like the prices. Jesus Christ. $80. No. Eighty dollars for a black a mega box. Come on, guys. Jason: yeah, yeah, yeah. That's r s it's still ridiculous. Like, yeah, it'll p probably s stop some resellers, but like these prices are pretty much unattainable to like the average consumer. chat: These are reseller prices, come on. Jason: Yeah, like come on, like help the hobby out. Yes, it's this is a gr a good step towards the future of actually having product to the consumer and not just hit the secondary market on like eBay and other places. But like these prices are going insane and by the end of the probably next two years, they're probably gonna be like a hundred a mega bucks and like I don't know, like sixty seventy a a blaster. Like This is insane the prices are doing. chat: That's a that's it with even without taxes, so this isn't gonna be more than eighty dollars. It might be like one hundred bucks, a hundred one ten. Jason: Yeah, 'cause like sh even like Pitini, I'm like I was looking at buying something over there and they're charging like fifteen dollars shipping. So like what's the point of even buying them online if the shipping is that insane? That's pretty much yeah. I'm like, this is insane. Like and and they're like they incentives to you to buy purchase more things to reach like that free shipping, but even then you're giving them more money. It's just dumb. chat: Fifty dollar shipping. Jesus Christ. Jason: Shipping, buying stuff online's kind of hard. And with these prices, it's already gonna it's only makes it worse, to be honest. chat: Will you buy b buy any boxes, Jason? Jason: yeah, probably. Like we we we bash Toss, we bash Panini for like these prices, but at the end of the day, we wanna be involved in the hobby. We wanna get that next hot player that we like. but yeah, like I don't care about the plastics too 'cause I'll I will I will always open it. I'm not like one of those guys who just holds it on. Maybe in the future it can go up. I feel like I see that a lot on on in Pokemon, not so much in sports, but yeah, it's it's I feel like it's a good step and yeah, I'll keep buying products. How about yourself? chat: Yeah, people people do that with Pokemon 'cause they like keeping sealed the products. People do it now for like older products, like a mega box from a sh rookie Shohei Otani. People those boxes start for like six grand and they're just like a mega box. So well people were always trying to get like a shot at a rookie card, but I think this is gonna be the time where that stops now. I wonder if they're gonna continue doing this with like future products like baseball and football, which will stop Jason: Yeah, I wonder if it's just like I wonder if they're even doing it for like their flagship ones, like not like the Chrome, just like their base like tops basketball, tops baseball. I wonder if they're doing it for that or just like the high end releases. chat: Boy, I remember finding like flagship products easily more than Chrome because flagship doesn't really hold the same value as Taus Chrome. Less cards. Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah, Chrome was insane. You within like maybe like four weeks everything was gone from the shelves. Even at like that super high price level. So yeah. What chat: And yeah. Maybe this is gonna be a good thing. Maybe maybe good, bad. Just the prices are gonna still be high. Maybe we'll be able to grab a box, so Jason: But next thing you know, it like the you're gonna see imagine like your mailman no knows what you're buying, he just takes out a pack out of your box. So that's kinda that'd be kinda funny and kinda kind of an issue, but you never know with people. chat: I just hope he grabs a a pack of base cards. Jason: Yeah, right. So I'll take the case hit or whatever in it. That'd be insane. All right. So now let's move on to the national. So today we'll be giving you guys three cards that we'll be hunting for the national. One of the best parts of the national is walking the show floor with a wish list and finally find the cards you've been chasing. So like we said, today we're sharing three cards each that we'll be hunting for and why you they're worth keeping an eye on. chat: I know. Jason: whether you're after a grail or a small investment or a card with long term upside, these are some names we'd have on our radar. So Alex, start it off. What is one of your cards that you are looking for? chat: looking for a Caitlin Clark blue velocity parallel raw. that's one of the parallels that's the cheapest under a hundred dollars. don't have any Caitlyn Clark card cards. I do not have one. I don't have any base cards either. So and I don't want a base card because base cards do hold up value, but parallels tend to h hold more value in the future. Kaylin cards gonna cards keep rising due to the fact how she's playing and I think she's gonna be one of those players that cards will continue to grow and maybe she'll be one day be one of those goats for WNBA and it'll be great to have one of those cards. Jason: Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Yeah, I feel like even I am like pr not even tapped into WNBA, but you know the name Caitlin Clark as someone to watch or to like collect. So yeah, prisms could always hold value and having a parallel like a blue velocity would be kinda cool. Do you know how much they're going for? chat: yeah, it's seventy five dollars. Seventy five bones. It's not awful. Maybe I can get it down to like seventy, maybe if I find one. maybe something graded. Let me see. I have it a picture of it. it was going for seventy-five. It used to be much higher when she when they just came out. Now it's down seventy two ninety two percent with by the year. Jason: That's not awful. chat: max average was ninety three, not going for seventy one dollars right now. So and then if I get I PSA nine, I'll be like a hundred bucks. Jason: What's like the lowest grade you'll you'll buy? chat: Probably a nine, 'cause eights don't hold that. Well, if like if she becomes like the next like big thing, yeah. I'll get an eight. But if you think about it, like a nine will do much better 'cause if you look at Kobe Bryant's rookie card, that's a base card and I have an eight and it is like one one thirty. A nine it goes for two eighty. Imagine having her as a nine and just like having it like over three hundred dollars in the future. But I'm I'm I'm not I'm not gonna just like I'm overestimating, you know what I mean? I can't just be thinking like she's gonna be the next big thing. A nine would be eighty bucks, which is not that bad at all. Another ten dollars for a nine. And a ten is three hundred dollars, which is not bad either. So yeah, getting a nine wouldn't be that bad if I think about it. Jason: That's not awful. What do you prefer it beating a nine or just raw? What do you be like your first priority on that? chat: if I probably can get the nine for the same amount of as raw, that would probably do be good because say I do want to regrade it, I always know that there's a chance where it's stuck gonna get a nine or and then I try like fix like say if I fix the corners, clean it up a bit, and we send it as a regrade it has a fifty fifty chance of getting a nine versus a ten. So like like I still don't lose money. I still save money on it somehow. Like just Jason: Okay. chat: adding an I'll lose twenty five bucks on that card. A little bit. But I still have a chance of being a nine. Which is better than an eight and seven. You know what I Jason: Gotcha, gotcha. Yeah, it makes sense. The math it maths out. chat: The next card would be LeBron, Carmelo, Anthony and Dwayne Wade, one of those three three piece like you ever seen one of those three rookie cards where they're on like it's like a matrix card, a topps card. they're like all next to each other. Jason: Yeah, I just looked it up. That's a pretty dope card, never seen that. chat: yeah, I was trying to look for an affordable LeBron card 'cause his cards are expensive and he's like trying to I'm trying to figure out if he's gonna be freaking in the league next year. He hasn't made this decision to stay or like what team he's going to, but it's going to for ninety eight dollars right now and which is kinda nice and I really don't have a LeBron card. All I have of of LeBron is the X Fractor. that's not like legit, like something you'd What do call it? Like for me, I think it's not something you you hold on for forever. You need something that's gonna have value and I think LeBron's rookie card or a version of his rookie card would have value in the future. So it's ninety eight dollars. But it also has Carmelo and Dwayne Wade, which are both legendary players also. If you if you think about that too. Jason: That's sick. Yeah, that legendary draft class. Like those are like the top three guys. not not in that order, 'cause fucking Darko, but like that that's a pretty dope card. And yeah, it's a rookie card of those three guys. Three guys that like have so many records and like leaders and what and all these things. That's a that's not a bad card to get thinking long term. chat: Low? Yes, sir. on to the next card. Yeah, the next card I would get is a Tom Brady Ricky card is the one you got I don't know if you ever graded. I remember you telling me you bought one and I think it's the same one with the two guys on the time Jason: Yeah, I can't remember. It's a dope card. I don't know who the hell the other guy is. Some random Tide on. But it's a dope card. It's a Flare. Tom Brady. You can't go wrong with a rookie Tom Brady. That man's everywhere and that card will only go up. chat: Big Tom, Jason Lofton Brady. Jason: Thomas Edward Brady. My goat. My goat. chat: year ago. Let's see your cards, Jason. Jason: Alright, so we got I'm thinking about Investing into a Cooper flag rookie card. I feel like he's one of like the safer players to go to because pretty much they're the Mavericks are rebuilding around him because they got rid of AD pretty much all the other guys are older Kyrie's still around but like It's pretty much Cooper's team at this point Is I want to get a PSA 10 of this card, but it's gonna be the tops 201 base card his chrome cards like 345. I don't know if I want to spend 345 on a PSA 10 chat: 345? Jesus. Jason: On his Chrome card. I'm like, don't know if I want to spend that much money, but a PSA 10 is going for $95. I'm like, if I can get that around, yeah, that price, $95 or like $90, I'll purchase that, without a doubt. Just thinking long-term. He's a dope player. lot of talent. He's probably going lead Team USA in the future. Yeah. Another option between the rookie classes, like a VJ Edgecom, his Chrome card is only like $101. So was like, eh, maybe if I strike out of Cooper, I can get a VJ card. Oh, you dope. A second option. I want a Steph Curry rookie card, his base rookie cards. I found two of them. I don't know which one I prefer. Probably his like 2009 Panini base card. It's a number 307. Raw is 150. chat: the bed. Jason: It's just a dope card. He looks super young. He's in his warrior's gear. It looks like part of like a photo shoot kind of thing. It's kind of weird. He has like a black background. 150. PSA 10 is like over a thousand thousand five hundred twenty five. Pretty dope card. If I don't get that second option of another Steph Curry card, it's a Prestige 2009. It's another base rookie. That's only eighty nine dollars. So if I can get either or I'll be pretty happy. chat: Yeah. Jason: Yeah, just think Steph Curry is one of those guys where like he retires. His cards are going to go up. He already made so much impact in the game that people are going to want his cards as soon as he calls it quits. And he's just a dope player. chat: the next Yeah, i've seen i've seen the both of these cards because trying to figure out which one I he's one of the one of the people's on my on my list of card like players I want to get but i'll to get the panini one, but you see you've seen his His top's card right the top's rookie card is expensive. It's much more function than freaking lebron's. I like the hell Jason: Yeah, that's why I didn't include it. Yeah, it's so rare. guess he like like Lebron, he's got expectations of being like the GOAT. South Korea was like lower down the tone pole and like drafted later in the first round. So like his cards are harder to find. There's a lot of rookie cards of his rookie cards of him and like his Davidson jersey. So I'm really trying to avoid that and stick to a Warriors jersey kind of. kinda card, like even this prestige one is like a summer league picture. So just trying to stick to the Warriors rookie card, get something cool like that. chat: Yeah, I wouldn't want one of the Davidson ones either. I would prefer one of the Golden State Warriors ones. Jason: Yeah, yeah, that's iconic. And as like those old school logos, so it's kind of seeing like it's like a throwback kind of looking card. My last one, same as Alex, when Tom Brady this I would I would love it is in his college gear. He is wearing the machine Wolverine's helmet and looks like a like a senior game jersey he's wearing. It's a Tom Brady. chat: Yeah. Jason: 2000 Pacific Crown Royale number two, Rookie Royalty. It's like a horizontal card. It's pretty cool. Like I've seen these, I saw this in my local shop. They're selling it for 80 bucks, but like the corns are pretty bad. So I don't know if I really want to buy it at that price. I'm at the look at. chat: This is not the, it's not the wall, cause I thinking of like the other one, like the crown one he's on. That one's, I know right. Jason: Yeah, that's over like 300. And I was like, I don't know. I'm not spending that on a raw card from Brady. But yeah, this is one note, $110. It's just a really cool card. Yeah, specific trading card. So it's like a pretty much another manufacturer doesn't exist anymore. Yeah. So. chat: Yeah, I'm looking at it now. It's just this famous football trading card features Hall of Fame, of not Brady, but who the hell is this? It's like a tech company like they're not owned by anybody. It's a weird part. Jason: Yeah, it's a weird card. Yeah. 2000s cards. They're pretty much can be anywhere. Like there's so many upper decks and they're like all these different companies that made cards back then. But it's it's licensed by the NFL. It looks dope. I love the back of it where like you can see his actual face and looks. I don't know. It's just a weird throwback art. And yeah, so those are the three cards that I would like. So like two two legends and then the upcoming star, Cooper flag. So yeah, some pretty dope cards between both of us. It's gonna be hard finding these cards, not gonna lie. So many tables at the national, next thing you you get lost and like you start purchasing dumb shit, which you don't need. chat: I know I know it's gonna be mean and I'm gonna see like so much freak It's like the thing is we're going Saturday Jason's going Wednesday. I'm gonna miss Jason I mean, I'm like, what's Chad at? All right. I need him. I need to know if I'm making a bad decision by button skirt Jason: Yeah, I'm going to speed run that because it's like 2 p.m. to like 8 p.m. down that Wednesday is the first day of the national. So I'm going to speed run that because that can't be there for too long. It's already late as it is. But oh, yeah, it's it's so it's a weird time. But if I can stay there for like two, like three hours, maybe three to four hours, I think I'll be good. chat: Damn, two to eight, the hell kind of time is that? And the other thing I'm going be doing is checking dollar bins. think I'm going to use my matured looking for dollar bins, maybe Chinese and Grails. And then the big thing for me, cause no one really respects, I respect X-Ractors. Now give me a minute, I'm the backtracker guy, but people don't really respect them as enough to the point where they lower price the cards. Um, so I'm going say I can find some rookie X-Ractors, maybe something cool. Maybe, uh, like a player, maybe like a Bellinger. I should like find one of his. or cheap. Jason: That'd be dope. Yeah. Those value bins. It's going to be interesting to look in those. There's always like older people at them, which is kind of annoying because they just camp on there. yeah, you're going to throw some elbows and like get people on headlocks and then look through the cards. National, we are pretty much a week away now. Probably less when this thing goes out, when this podcast comes out. So. chat: I'm gonna have to fight some more, I'm gonna pull. Jason: Yeah, we'll catch you there. Our last story is a crazy story. It's something that it's funny yet disturbing. I don't know how to explain this. All right. So let's start. was our story appeared on Twitter via all the baseball underscore MLB where the user shared a Nike patch one-on-one, Ronald Acuna card and a very interesting interaction. chat: Catch you there. Jason: In a screenshot of the chat log, a man starts the conversation stating, my wife is willing to trade things of hers for the Acuna for me. He later goes on to elaborate, pics, videos, unless you have other thoughts. And the owner of this Acuna car is like, huh? What do you mean by other things? And he's like, yeah, stuff like personal only fans stuff like she doesn't do only fans, but we'll get you these things for that Rano Kuni card because I need that card pretty much what he's saying. And this is an insane story. We're talking about cardboard for. chat: Yeah, that's crazy. Like, damn. a human being's body. Jason: pretty much are things of that nature. chat: Um, like what like I just hope And the owner card is now calling the card curse along with the nickname a cuck. Oh, how do you say? Jason: What are we doing, Alex? Cuckoonya, like cuck. Yeah, he's calling this card curse because like this story is insane. Then Tops picked it up and shared like the picture of it without knowing like the background of it. It's just kind of funny. chat: Of course, of course some intern thinks is like funny or not funny like thinks it was like wholesome somehow and then and there's no context and he like, of course. Jason: It's like, is a dope card. Next thing you know it, the story comes out and it's like, yeah, this is... chat: Take it down, take it down, take it down! Jason: Take it down, yeah, so... Yeah, I don't know how feel. People are so weird. Like, if I see this... I would just block the dude, like, fuck that guy. I don't know this is real to be honest I feel like the wife would probably not be with this dude if she actually wanted that card for him I don't know chat: that or like this is actually true and she really wants the one on one of kuni card but this is like I don't know for me this probably probably has to be fake because I don't think somebody's the you gotta be some type of like I don't know I don't not a weirdo I think like how bad do you want this card well that's the question how bad do you want this card I don't want it that bad Jason: Yeah. You gotta be a weirdo. Just be a straight out weirdo. Clearly he wants it really bad. Clearly he's going the distance. chat: We all know that if he doesn't get this card, he's going to sell the card. So it's like, yeah, my wife gave you her stuff and I'm going sell this card for how much worth more and whatever she gave you. yeah, let's be honest. He's not, he doesn't want this for himself. He just wants to sell the card, but he's trying to figure a way to get around the money part. Jason: Yeah. Well, Alex, what do you accept this train? chat: Is his wife hot? Jason: She is a an 8 chat: He's like an eight on a good day. Jason: She's 8 on a good day. She will cook you dinner. chat: Man, How much is the Hakuna card? of all, can't say yet. Like, I firstly, I wonder how much this card is. It's probably at least 10 grand. I'm not gonna, if you think about it, this card's probably 10 grand. It's a Nike patch. It's probably worth 10 grand and it's an on-card. Yeah, I'm not doing that shit. That's stupid as hell. Jason: How good is that dinner? Yeah, I don't know. People are weird. chat: Yeah, your wife's hot, she's not worth 10, 10, 10k hot. Jesus. All right. Let's head to a collector's corner. What players have been on your radar, Jason? Jason: Yeah, people are weird. I'm looking at Murakami cards. Yeah, he didn't do too well in the home run derby. Yeah, he had 10 home runs. Didn't do too hot in the All-Star game, but he's a white-sox guy. I need more of his cards. I was looking at his rainbow foil card. It was like 15 bucks. I was thinking about it. And I was looking at his like other Mojo Bowman card and that's like 10 bucks. I was like, maybe I do it. chat: So, I know. funny enough my dad just got that today yeah he sure he just got in the mail and he was showing me showing off Jason: The Mojoan? Yeah, it's not it's not a bad price for like, I feel like it probably will go down later. chat: I know, I just gotta wait for things like me, either the season's over or if he doesn't win, we'll hit the year or something. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, so his cards, a bunch of top snout cards. I want to get that Caleb Williams Madden cover card. It's like eight bucks. Might do that eventually. Also, like the one you got, the defensive rookie of the year, Cooper. That's another card. And the defensive player of the year, Wemby. So a bunch of top snout cards that I want to grab. It's cool art. I like them for the collection. chat: I know, I gotta get that next. mouse. Top-snall cards have good value, the way, in my opinion. Jason: Yeah, they're not bad and they're moments in history. So they're kind of cool. Like not just like a random base card. Um, and the last thing is just wrestling autos. Um, go on a summer slam. Want to collect more wrestling cards. like they're pretty cool and undervalued. Some of the top stars. Um, yeah, I got to look more into that though. Um, what about you Alex? chat: I know. What was that guy one guy's name who just started being part of the video you say his name and what's it? I want to do Henriotta. Let me sing I wonder how much that car he said that's what is the point. It's everything I seem to talk to I want to believe one like one of his cards Jason: Joe Hendry. He's a meme. There's the other guy, I don't know if you've seen him around, Danhausen. He's like some dude who's like a vampire character and he's like showed up at the Knicks game. He's funny looking too. Yeah. cool. chat: Oh yeah, right now for cards I'm in collecting X directors. I just picked up a country Goodman who's Killing your home runs right now. There's rumors that he may be traded to the Yankees because the Yankees need another player My I made another goal and I'm collecting all Caleb wounds base base cards I just picked up a couple more base cards of his. want every base card from every set of that, of a what rookie like a every base rookie card that he has. I don't care if they're on license. I just want the rookie tops card and then like the down-race, et cetera, et cetera. So I've been last two weeks, I've been adding more base cards into my binder and the people are like, why are you doing that? Just because if he does win main VP or something huge, A base card will be significantly super high. Look at Josh Allen's cards. He won MVP. a base Dom Russ card is super expensive. Jason: Yeah, I mean, yeah, you got to think about a future like Caleb's can pretty much be the quarterback for the Bears for what? 10 plus years probably he's super young Yeah, and like like you said Josh Townes card like that. have a car. It's like 20 bucks. It's just a base card from Um that rising stars the stars something collection, but it's a base card. So yeah, it's not a bad idea chat: Yeah, like- Yeah, I just picked up Where did I pick up? picked up so much crap the other day because I Was like, yeah, I just like cuz they're cheap. They're not like two to three dollars in but they still have value I picked up a The rookies top signature class the full 21 finest I just picked those up and I had to go scour man. Thanks colex. You can get good deals on cards Jason: Mm-hmm. chat: Cuz I got a good deal on a three stack of cards. I sent you the other day on that one purchase I got and Yeah, the guy Cards were fine. I just didn't like how he mailed the crap out of those cards. He had put them both from card savers and Double taped them into a envelope ship that I got it. I'm looking I'm like, what the fuck is this? I send the picture to Jason Jason's like Jason though. They're making funny because he's like Jason: Hmm chat: Long cards and was like really this is though. I got the cards and The cards are fine. So I got a resurgence one on a cosmic chrome base one and I got a green emergent wave prism Added nice bench 20 bucks for three cards and the reason that they're 20 bucks is because the cosmic chrome cards base is nine dollars or less less than that and I think cuz his Jason: Ha ha. chat: Well, the cosmic chrome it's not widely available for everybody because it's a hobby exclusive thing. So you gotta buy the hobby box and get the base card. but yeah, about that resurgence is available to everybody. But overall I got that. that's what I'm working on next. Getting extractors, getting more Caleb extractors that more Caleb rookie base. And then, with the home run Derby this week, Jordan work at Walker one. I picked up a Jordan Walker at rookie X rector for 725. Jason: Never heard of the guy, not gonna lie. Very casual on baseball, so like, I never heard of the dude. But then he's like, I got a car. I'm like, all right. Nice. chat: I know. Yeah, that's funny cuz was texting Jason the other day that I bought it the same day he won I was like, please don't cancel that fucking order man. I just bought this shit for 725 and Also, they like as soon as he won I looked on eBay all his cards were over like 50 % because like I saw the same card for 20 bucks. I'm like, bro. This car was just like eight dollars like ten minutes ago. What the But yeah got that and yes bad selling more cards just sold my Freddy Freeman one out of 150 buck end for 30 bucks W gonna use that to buy more Kayla cards anything else going on with the collecting Jason Jason: Yeah, so just for experiences, I feel like these local shops need to get rid of their old inventory. When like, went to two shops on Saturday, found nothing. Same cards that they've had for like the last two years, pretty much. I feel like just got to get rid of those cards. Like people aren't buying them. They're just wasting space. chat: Are they just like base guards or like trap? Jason: Yeah, they're like bait. There's some numbered cards, but they're like they're not like the players probably out of the league like they're dudes 20 like 2014 cards of like some dude who was a prospect at one point and never made it and they have like four or five boxes of these guys for singles and they aren't selling and they've been there for so long and looking through those single boxes every time it just gets annoying because keep seeing the same people and I'm like, these aren't going to be selling anytime soon. chat: Jason's like, I see the same guy every time I'm in the same dollar bin. I get it. You didn't make the league. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, it's annoying. I'm like... chat: What player do you currently see on those dollars? Jason: What player? I... It's just a bunch of randoms though, like it's not even like one guy that's over and over. It's a bunch of like role players, NBA role players like early 2000s and then they got some baseball guys I don't even know. So it's not like one player, it's just a bunch of randoms that I've never heard of these dudes or they're like in the league for like five minutes. I don't know. chat: For me, it's recurring Titans players and I'm like, Jesus Christ, you guys have terrible freaking draft picks. Like I'm over here, like you go to the dollar man and you're like, okay, Titans, Titans, Titans. then I'm not, I'm talking about like, you in the Titans? I'm like, no bro, I'm in the football bin. Everything's random. I'm digging through it. And it's a recurring team of like Titans players. I'm like, Your franchise is poverty, Jesus. Jason: Yeah. Yeah, it gets bad. Like I get if it's like Cubs players or like local teams or stuff like that. But these guys are like the fucking like 10th man on the Boston Celtics from like 2014. Like we need to get rid of these cards. People aren't buying cards for a reason. And chat: Then we're start doing the thing where we stop adding random players into freaking checklists Jason: And like, here's the thing, like that card shop, there's no one box where like they add like the newer stuff.
