Like I opened it up and I was not expecting it. I forgot that they were doing that. I also have the new moon collection them. ⁓ But I opened it up and I was just Kailey Waskall: Yeah, the color pop eclipse. I Ashton McGrady: I don't know. Kailey Waskall: ⁓ I only have the eclipse one. I gotta say though, the movies ⁓ get better. I know, Twilight, ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Well, they have more budget, girl. had never the Twilight movies until, ⁓ I don't know, this fall. And I like, ⁓ my God, it's hoa hoa hoa season. I was like, I need to watch it with me. And she, for the longest time, put off and I finally made her through all of the movies. think watched them in two days. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: Wow, I love that for you. Ashton McGrady: It was a commitment. Kailey Waskall: went over to our friends this weekend and we watched Eclipse and then breaking dawn part one So all we have left is breaking dawn part two and I gotta say these movies are crazy We saw Renesmee and I was like ⁓ jump scare It's ⁓ so scary ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Not Renesmee? Renesmee of it all is crazy. Kailey Waskall: I went on to Reddit because I love after like watching things, I go read on the subreddit to see people complain. There's so many frequent posts about these Twilight movies and I love it. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ for sure. you seen Renesmee, like the actress, as an adult because that made me feel so old? ⁓ Kailey Waskall: No, she's an adult now? Ashton McGrady: ⁓ my gosh, yeah, she has like a TikTok. Kailey Waskall: I thought you the CGI baby and I was like, ⁓ I didn't know aged up Ashton McGrady: not the CGI baby, the actual baby. Kailey Waskall: so the actual baby baby? ⁓ Ashton McGrady: ⁓ wait, no. so right. It's the little girl that like she grows up into, not the CGI baby, my bad. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: Yeah, I was like like, they up the CGI baby and has a tic- What AI is this? ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Yeah, actually, they made her a TikTok. like, yeah, that's a new thing to have nightmares about. Kailey Waskall: crazy no no no no no no but it was really really fun I highly recommend rewatching the Twilight series every year Ashton McGrady: Yeah, honestly, I didn't appreciate them as much. And then when I went back and watched them, they were just as bad, but they were entertaining. Kailey Waskall: Twilight, was one of the series that I went to like the midnight release parties for, I was in, yes, yes, fun. Ashton McGrady: I went to like the book releases. Yeah. wow. Midnight release parties. them too. They do them every now and again for like the Romanticie books, but it's so rare. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: I miss them. I know, and it's not even midnight, it's like Ashton McGrady: be such a thing. You were so excited people would dress up were so good. It was so fun and exciting. Okay, in the subject of yapping about television, I finished four, part one of Bridgerton Netflix. It was so good. I actually really liked the season so much so that was like, I'm actually impatient. have I read any of Bridgerton novels before now? Kailey Waskall: Okay. Ashton McGrady: But I did pick up an offer from a gentleman and I actually just finished it last night. so cutie. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: I have not watched this season yet. I'm too busy watching Twilight. Ashton McGrady: real. It is really good. I thought it was really cute. the season has a lot of touches and like... Wow, what is the word? Illusions, illusions. They have a lot of illusions to Cinderella, ⁓ which I think is so cute. Netflix really ran that. Kailey Waskall: Mm-hmm. Ashton McGrady: and I very much appreciated it, but love the season is going so far. And now that I've read the book, I know how it's gonna end, and I'm excited. It was a really cute book. Kailey Waskall: Well, that makes me excited to watch it. I definitely want to. I mean, I've watched all the previous Bridgerton's. It's just on the docket. Ashton McGrady: All right, you gotta yeah, you gotta like sit down and commit, but You were in a committed relationship with Twilight. Exactly, so it's gotta wait. And then 27 hours of Zac Efron. Do you wanna do your crown or your curse first? Kailey Waskall: Yeah, and I have one more movie, stick with you I'll go with my crown so ⁓ I haven't a facial in like years and yesterday I finally got one plus a brow lamination and ⁓ I love ⁓ I wish do I'm really sad that I can't budget to do this every month ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Do feel like a new woman? real. Real. I feel like our listeners can probably relate to that. Like, who can afford to go do that like on regular basis? Kailey Waskall: putting it on my vision board because it was so ⁓ good. I it. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ I'm envisioning it for you. We're manifesting here. Kailey Waskall: so, a few years ago I did get like facials, like every three months? before I went fully part time I did one where I didn't do it this weekend but it was like a, facial rejuvenation, like a buccal massage type thing ⁓ and it was like lymphatic drain. It like, my face looked so ⁓ different it was Ashton McGrady: ⁓ my gosh. Kailey Waskall: crazy So now the bug has been placed in me that I want to go get that again, but that one's like four four hundred dollars, not ⁓ It's so good Ashton McGrady: ⁓ no. the buccal massage is so good though. ⁓ it looks so scary because the thought of somebody sticking their hands inside of your freaking mouth ⁓ is so scary. When I saw that I was like, ⁓ my God. ⁓ But it's so good. Get in my mouth. Kailey Waskall: No, I'm like, do it. No, I'm like, don't even wear gloves, just get in there. It was but the actual facial was just like your typical facial, but then it ended with a brow lamination Which I've also never had done before I like it. I don't know that it's something I need to do like every month because I think Can make effect happen ⁓ without? It was like a nice way to wake up now and be like, ⁓ look at my brow Ashton McGrady: Love. How do you like it? Right. Right. Your brows already Yeah, you just give them a quick little brush and they're like, good. Kailey Waskall: yeah, so that was really, really nice and just the whole experience, man, I friggin' a facial. ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Love. Well, you look glowy and beautiful and we all deserve to treat ourselves sometimes. Kailey Waskall: well was my Valentine's Day gift, so it was great. ⁓ thank you Justin. He gets a massage next weekend. So we just gave each other services. We were like, what service do you want? That one? Okay, great. How I pay someone? hopefully that'll well. I'm a little jealous that I'm not also getting a massage, but you know, had to budget and I chose a facial. Ashton McGrady: Exactly. you, Justin. ⁓ ⁓ I love that for him. No. No, literally. Maybe Justin can give you a massage. Kailey Waskall: I want a massage therapist, Ashton McGrady: like, I actually want a professional. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: I want the person who went to school for it and knows what they're doing. Ashton McGrady: Fair enough. give a massage, it just might not be a good one. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: and I want like a full 60 minutes. you know, I feel like ⁓ can't give a massage. I to like 10 minutes and I'm like, God, my hands really hurt, man. So. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ my gosh, yes. No, and like when you have been getting a massage for like 60 or 90 minutes The land you go into I don't know the mind. i'm just like gone I'm on another planet. It's phenomenal. Okay, so uh, I guess that leaves my Curse which i'm feeling deeply cursed so on Kailey Waskall: Yeah, you're meditating. Yeah. Ashton McGrady: Was it third, Friday? I think Friday. I got a DM from Rare Beauty. got a and I was like, ⁓ okay. And I went and was ⁓ being invited to an event then I read a little further they were inviting me to an event in Dallas, Texas, not North Carolina because apparently that's where they thought I lived. Kailey Waskall: love. Ashton McGrady: Moral of the story is, don't know. I don't know what the moral of the story is, but I was simply out because they were like, we would love to meet you and have a private shopping experience and you would get to meet the team. And I was like, oh, that would be so cool. So that was a bit of a I did consider driving to Texas. Kailey Waskall: Yeah. How far is that? Ashton McGrady: 15 hours. Kailey Waskall: Okay. Ashton McGrady: did consider it, but unfortunately by the time I received the invite and the event was at 9.30am, there no way for me to, unless I turned back time, logically make it would have been fun. And nobody has events in Charlotte. Nobody. So I was... Kailey Waskall: Yeah. Yeah, there's not really that many events in Baltimore either. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ bummed. was like, dang, that would have been so fun. Cause it was for the launch for Ulta, which I was like, ⁓ my gosh, we just talked about. But that did that I got to tell our team that we talked about it here on the pod. So maybe Selena Gomez listening to our podcast. You never know. Kailey Waskall: put that on the vision board. to me getting facials. Ashton McGrady: that on the vision board right now. That's what we're manifesting. That's what I'm telling myself anyways. that was my sad curse and totally first world but I was sad that I did not live in Dallas, Texas. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, that stinks. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ well. also explains why I haven't been getting PR from them. I think they have my address wrong. Kailey Waskall: ⁓ they've been sending it to like your address and taxes. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ Yeah, so I think they have everything else about my address right, it stopped when I moved here I was mmm. so now we have it figured out, but I wouldn't have figured it out if it weren't for the curse. So That's my silver lining from the whole experience. What was your curse of the week? Kailey Waskall: I love that. Okay. about I have vivid dreams. have we talked about this yet? don't think so. Did we talk about my nightmares? ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Yeah. I think a little bit. I don't know. Kailey Waskall: don't think so. Well, I've had more, so we're just gonna keep going with it. So I have really vivid dreams. ⁓ also sometimes do that whole like you wake up and you're still in a dream, but you think you're awake you're... And so that happens to me often, if I take a nap during the day, that seems to trigger it But anyway, so last week I had a crazy nightmare that included orca whales. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ no. ⁓ my gosh, Kailey Waskall: I feel like I need to explain it for the pod, it's ridiculous. Ashton McGrady: context, that sounds crazy. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: with context, it's about to sound crazy. So I throughout my entire life had recurring nightmares of whales drowning me. This has happened consistently since I was a child. And so it's been a big joke that I'm like afraid of whales because they give me the heebie-jeebies because I keep having nightmares where kill me. ⁓ Ashton McGrady: good, good, good. Okay? next podcast we're recording at the aquarium. Kailey Waskall: I mean, I can handle it. I've been whale watching, but I don't love it. am like the whales could just knock over the boat anyways. They could. big. the nightmare is I was like, can't even super remember it anymore. I've like shoved that stuff down. But the climax of was that I was ⁓ like In, I think it was in an aquarium, but it wasn't an aquarium and there were all these orcas and they were like going AWOL I mean as they should, right? Like they're stuck. But wasn't why were going AWOL. I don't remember why they were going AWOL. But they were like going back and forth and killing people, like eating people. ⁓ I know I tell you, crazy vivid dreams including nightmares. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ Kailey Waskall: you know how sometimes they have those bridges that like go up and down and you can run down them and then fall in the water and it's a fun thing. you seen those? Okay, well, basically like a big bridge with no guardrails, but meant to fall off of, you're trying to run across it and it like moves up and down and all the good stuff, but it's like suspended over the water. So in my nightmare, there's one of these. Ashton McGrady: No. Okay, horrifying. Kailey Waskall: And for whatever reason, I think I was like trying to help save people. I don't know. But I was trying to run on this thing while the orcas were literally shoving up from underneath into the bridge. And so it was really, really scary. And I woke up and my heart was beating so fast. it was like 2 a.m., 3 a.m. And I was gosh darn it. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ no. Kailey Waskall: that was the first one. And then I. Ashton McGrady: You have a two? Kailey Waskall: yeah, well the other one wasn't really a nightmare. No, no, this was later. later in the week I took a nap and I had one of those like inception things, sometimes it'll be where I'm kind of awake in the place where I know I'm napping, So I wake up and I look around, but things feel weird. then I realize I'm still sleeping and then I'm like, okay, wake up, wake up, wake up. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ wait, not on the same night though. Okay. Kailey Waskall: and I usually try to do something jolt myself awake. And then I just kept waking back up in dream world ⁓ so that was nuts. And then finally like woke up I was like, ⁓ God. so, know, I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that power, Ashton McGrady: Crazy. some meaning to like orcas repeatedly showing up in dreams and or nightmares? Kailey Waskall: It's not always I gotta be real it's not always orcas normally it's just like big regular whales like big blue whales, they are ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Okay, is there a meeting to Wales? I maybe we should look that Kailey Waskall: I don't know. I don't know, Yeah. Ashton McGrady: Hear ye, hear ye, new beauty drops are on the way. Kailey Waskall: Tintinai. Ashton McGrady: I love that. We have some new Sol de Janeiro. Some of these are like new of formulas already have. they're out with a new body bottle-ata, which I love the name of. The body I really do like this lotion. It's like, Kailey Waskall: Bada-lada. ⁓ Ashton McGrady: thinner than their thick creams that like come in little like pots. ⁓ I love that they're giving you this option that has like a pump, The packaging itself is matte. As somebody owns the original, it is bulky. It's pretty heavy, it is one of those that you could definitely like leave on a service area and pump. I do want to note that Kailey Waskall: Mm-hmm. Ashton McGrady: The pump is so breakable that it literally broke in shipping for me. And I also see it being one of those that could easily break IRL, but Kailey Waskall: how did it break in shipping? Ashton McGrady: I have no idea. pump like came up and then it snapped off. ⁓ reminds me a lot of the original Notarian body washes. And broke so ⁓ many ⁓ of those pumps. And is because the pump has so much height to it. Kailey Waskall: Mm-hmm. Ashton McGrady: the pump on this one. And will say has quite a bit of surface area to it, which is so awesome they're coming out 39 which is the moisture melting lotion and 48 which is the skin refresh lotion Kailey Waskall: I really like the bottom, it's like bottom heavy, the bottom is wider than the top, but in a way that it's gonna give you more stability. So if this is like seated ⁓ on a table, like we talked in previous episode you're trying to dispense the pump and it just like falls over these gonna be stable enough. Ashton McGrady: Yeah. Kailey Waskall: because they have that thicker base to give more support. Ashton McGrady: Yes, also a jelly perfume ball. Kailey Waskall: Yes. Ashton McGrady: immediately looking at it, I hate the packaging. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, reminds me of the milk makeup jelly blushes ⁓ those tricky. ⁓ Those were Ashton McGrady: Same. Painous? Yeah. is very glossy. There's no contrast between the and the top of think it's gonna be slippery and I don't know the heck a jelly perfume balm is, but I'm assuming maybe it like... makes your fragrance last longer. does it feel gimmicky to you? ⁓ Kailey Waskall: I think, I don't know. I think that part might be kind of cool a lot brands are coming out with more balms, which I do like as having an option I wonder if, because it's jelly and this is just, I have no actual idea, if it's almost like a cooling. Ashton McGrady: I mean, it's innovative. I don't know. Kailey Waskall: perfume which would be really really interesting to The packaging looks hard. Ashton McGrady: I mean, it's definitely not something I have seen before in the fragrance world. Like, jelly is new to me, but Am I gonna it for myself? No. And if you want to, go off Queen, but would be interested enough like check it out. Kailey Waskall: might buy one. I want to see if we add texture stickers to the bottom and like wrap the top if it makes it easier to use. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ yeah, kind of like you did for my about bronzer. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, I think there's an easy way to make this a little bit more grippy just based on things that you might have laying around your house. So want to potentially grab one of them just to see if we can actually do that. And then I am interested in the texture. I don't know. I gotta see more. The answer is I gotta see more because it totally depends, but I'm intrigued. Ashton McGrady: Fair enough. Yeah, same. My verdict is not fully out yet, but I am a little concerned. launching ⁓ new they do every summer. I'm not gonna really highlight those here because It's their typical packaging But yeah, I did wanna note that this is kind of a multi-launch. Kailey Waskall: Do you own any of them? wooden tops, glossy right? Ashton McGrady: Yes. those are new, the wooden tops, but would assume yes. don't think it's like real wood grain. Kailey Waskall: Okay. Okay. It looks like glossy plastic on here. Ashton McGrady: Yeah, think that's just there for the effect because again, it's like their summer-ish collection. But ⁓ I know, it's fine. It's just okay to nothing of note. But something that is kind of crazy and very innovative, weird packaging, this new ⁓ Maybelline Lifter Gel Oil and Gel Twist Pen. Have you seen Kailey Waskall: Yes, and I'm I am intrigued. Ashton McGrady: I have no idea what to think about this. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: so for our listeners it looks like a tube with almost like a built-up top Which you actually twist at the top of the product instead of the bottom which is a little different than previous has like a plastic applicator tip because instead of squeezing you just twist to get it I'm very intrigued. I think the cap like this round dome clear cap. I don't know how easy that is going to be to pull off. I think it's really cool that they're coming with this new type of packaging where if you ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Yeah, it looks kind of small. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: Don't like the squeeze and the doe foot's too hard. Maybe this a potential. Ashton McGrady: Yeah, okay, you've opened my eyes. love options here. And so, yeah, I can get with that, like a different way than traditional. I still have my reservations about that top, it's cool. It's like an oil gloss hybrid. It's supposed to be non-sticky. Each of the different... shades, have mini teeny, blue boba, passion juice, sugar spritz, melon strawberry shake, vanilla horchata, and berry twist. are supposed be fragranced differently too. Kailey Waskall: we'll see, sometimes the fake fragrance is like... ⁓ Ashton McGrady: Sometimes it's too much, especially if it's on your lips and like right under your nose. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: or it could be great I am interested in the blue one. I'm kind of getting into the blue gloss vibes. like Ashton McGrady: That's fair. feel like they're really great for the cool tone girlies. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: Yeah, I like the effect they give. it's supposed to your teeth appear more whitened is And so I like to layer over so you somewhat of a blue sheen it's just like a nice finisher. like it. Ashton McGrady: ⁓ that makes sense. I have a couple like that. ⁓ am also intrigued. I definitely pick one up. It's drugstore, so it's more affordable. Definitely worth checking out. I do love innovative packaging, so I'm here for it until I'm not. I'm innocent until proven guilty. But let's move on to next launch, which is Remedy Skin that launched at Target. Have you seen this brand? Kailey Waskall: I think I've heard of it, Ashton McGrady: I was in the other day and there was whole display of Remedy Kailey Waskall: but I have not looked in depth into it. Ashton McGrady: and turned around Skin, previously I hadn't heard of, but now I obviously and I got to get my hands on packaging, which, you know, don't always get the opportunity to so I took advantage of it. And I was very intrigued. The first thing I picked up off the shelf was their grinding cleansing balm, which that has been so popular ⁓ in Like you've seen those, right? Kailey Waskall: Yeah, yeah, yeah, those. Ashton McGrady: So just thought that was cool that they just came right out the gate doing that. So it's called their Derm Dissolve Cleansing Balm because this whole line dermatologist focused, dermatologist tested and created by So really loved that. I thought that was interesting. Again, we love options here. I also noted that their packaging was matte. It was very high contrast. The moisturizers, both the gel the cream are in an airless pump that, according to them, dispenses the perfect dose. So I thought that was And then the hand cream packaging is ergonomic. It kind of reminds of of what Rare Beauty did with theirs, except this one is kind of like a disc and it has a little divot for your thumb to hold it. So I thought that was interesting. also, cleansers are in pumps, which incredible, but then they're also textured. just love it around. I think that this was a launch. Have I tried any of the formulas yet? No, so the real test will come later. But my first impression of the packaging, I was impressed. Kailey Waskall: I'm definitely intrigued. I'm interested in the hand cream even though can maybe hold it and open it, I wonder how hard it's gonna be to dispense or squeeze out be Ashton McGrady: Yeah, that's fair. Kailey Waskall: it says an easy squeeze, so hoping that it an easy squeeze, but who knows? Ashton McGrady: I hope it is, if you guys have tried it, let us know. the price point is not horrible, but is a little higher, I think, than maybe some of the skincare brands ⁓ Target. Kailey Waskall: it's on par with prequel, Ashton McGrady: Okay, fair enough, I gonna say they actually give me very similar vibes. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, I think they're probably pretty aligned Ashton McGrady: if I gonna pick something up, think maybe the cleansing balm ⁓ or don't know, maybe one of the maybe the hand cream. I Kailey Waskall: I wanna try the hand cream. it looks like good design, but I think the hand cream is the most or potentially ergonomic. So I wanna feel it and like try it. Ashton McGrady: Fair enough. Do you want to take us away for the next one? Kailey Waskall: yeah. Oh, I do. Our next launch is MPH by Mary Phillips, the Leskin Le Skin Weightless Serum Foundation. I... okay. to me, the looks like foundation. It's like a frosted bottle. It's a pump dispenser. cap looks like it might be a little easier to pull off because it's a ⁓ cylinder potentially. ⁓ not like super tricky, but wanna talk about the foundation and why would you choose a serum foundation versus another foundation? Ashton. Ashton McGrady: love you were like, let's talk to the autistic girl. And you're so because I'm gonna be so for real, one of the biggest things that struggle with, and this is so funny as a beauty creator, is very, very, very much struggle with that feels like makeup. especially when it's like a foundation that feels heavy or even sometimes like a skin tint feels too heavy and I found myself reaching for something like a concealer where I can spot conceal versus having something all over my I feel like for reason, something like a serum foundation can be nice. Like I've definitely used the one from Iliya Beauty before I like the way it just kind of feels like nothing. So maybe this is for you because you different sensory needs. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: Yeah, so it says medium buildable coverage, but it's a lightweight breathable formula, which could be really, really nice, but it is gonna be glowy, So if you are someone with oily skin, I don't know that this is product for you unless you want to be super, super glowy, and if so, get But definitely a really good option for sensory sensitive. Ashton McGrady: Right? Kailey Waskall: babes, I do think I want to try this just to see because I am also someone who does not usually wear a ton of base product. I have noticed as I've gotten older, I'm starting to get a little bit more discoloration and part of me is like, well, I don't care. I'm going to rock it. And then another part of me is like, ⁓ I could get back into the serum. And as someone who talks about beauty online, I like to actually use the products that ⁓ eventually talk about. in. I think packaging is fabulous? meh. they're doing anything out of the ordinary that would make me be like, wow. only thing is that because her brand colors are very high contrast, it is like a high contrast. Ashton McGrady: Fair enough. Right. Kailey Waskall: top versus body of the product, but I don't know how much difference that make. Ashton McGrady: Pray. Right, and these are made to go with her under painting palettes. Personally, again, when I was just like, hey, I don't want a lot of makeup on my face, under painting is not for me. it is for you and that's maybe I'll go into Sephora and get a sample because I find it really hard to commit to something like a product, like a foundation without at least sampling it first. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, I'm definitely interested in going in and sampling it. I just ⁓ it's fine. Ashton McGrady: that let's talk about Jones Road Beauty. We've been talking about them a lot lately. They just launched their new body line and now I them tiptoeing fragrance, which that's so fun and exciting. feels a little out of left for me, They're dropping a new fragrance called In Route and it has notes of lily, tonka musk, and a hint of jasmine, which feels like maybe could be up your alley. Kailey Waskall: I don't know, here's my thing with fragrances. I never know what the description actually means. I feel like I read these things and I go, ⁓ yeah, that sounds really good. And then I go into store and I smell these different fragrances and I'm like, could not tell you what I'm smelling. I could tell you groups that it falls into. But when I'm reading this, I'm like, yeah, I like Lily. ⁓ I like Tonka Musk. ⁓ Jasmine, that sounds nice. But like, I'm gonna say that for everything. Ashton McGrady: Right. enough. do quite a collection and I've kind of learned fragrance a little more than maybe my once uneducated nose had, but I will say that if you you like a of fragrance, is a really good indicator. However, sometimes I swear ⁓ And I feel like our listeners can probably relate to this. Sometimes I swear I like read a fragrance's description on the internet like you were talking about. And I'm like, I those notes. And I get there and I'm like, that smells horrible. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: or I'm like, this doesn't smell like what thought notes were supposed to smell like. could. Ashton McGrady: Right. you get, like, an expectation of what it's gonna smell like. Kailey Waskall: Yeah. And so, it could be my nose, but I feel like I'm not great at reading things and like, that's going to be my fragrance versus actually going and smelling all of them. I'm getting better at it as I try more fragrances, like you said, but I still a lot of times I'm just like, OK, cool. That sounds great. It always sounds great. Ashton McGrady: Yeah. And we're really on the train of meth today because we're talking the packaging, it's nothing special. I will say the bottle is squared, so it does have edges. very contrast, but that's the nature of Jones Road Beauty's branding. So, ⁓ makes sense. tracks The sprayer is, again, nothing special. It's like very. ⁓ traditional It's nothing worth, here and chatting about. Kailey Waskall: And I do want to say, functionally when we're talking about high contrast, I actually don't know that I would count this product as full high contrast. Purely because I'm thinking about high contrast and I'm thinking about the function of it, right? it's to help with the readability, which I do think this does, I with you there. But I think when we're thinking about the functionality of high contrast, we also want high contrast. Ashton McGrady: Okay. Kailey Waskall: or visual cues of where we're going to interact with this product, are we gonna touch it? Where are we gonna put pressure to take the cap off? And for here, whole thing is black. Ashton McGrady: The cap is the same color. I will give you that. The text for readability's sake, say that part is good. But yes, so right What if they made the cap white? Kailey Waskall: yeah, even added just like a white ribbon around bottom just some sort of visual where you don't even have to think about it. It just naturally supports the functionality of the product. the text is very bold. big. That's great. would love to see a few more visual cues on this, Ashton McGrady: rate. Kailey Waskall: Alright, so I'm assuming you've heard of native. Ashton McGrady: Yes, I feel like most people have at this point. Kailey Waskall: Yes. native came on the scene with their natural deodorants ⁓ they been well known for that for a while. They have now come out with a sensitive series ⁓ of body body lotion, shampoo, conditioner. And so the whole idea is that it still has scent, but they worked allergists, biologists and dermatologists to create. clean gentle formulas with hypoallergenic fragrances free from 81 allergens and naturally derived ceramides. Give me first thoughts. Ashton McGrady: I've talked about you know, a lot of times oats and things are used body products. And so I'm like thinking, if this is free from, 81 allergens or whatever, this is probably good for the girlies who do have a lot allergens, I know sometimes that can make difficult to find. ⁓ products that are compatible with them and aren't going to cause issues with allergies. But will say, I thought it was really interesting to come out with a sensitive series that was still fragranced. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, do think it's gonna be good for the sensitive skin because that's truly its point, Like I'm glad that they're doing the thing that they said they're gonna do. ⁓ Ashton McGrady: bare minimum. Kailey Waskall: still to one ⁓ scentless version that if you truly are like no like scent my like I really hate it I need an option for that I love them to have that they have unscented lotion and body cream so that if you do need something that is truly no scent, they you it's very interesting. Do Ashton McGrady: Yeah, also their whole shtick of like sensitive doesn't have to be scentless is so interesting to me. But it's a pump. we love pump. The pump isn't like teeny tiny. It's not huge. It doesn't a of surface area, but it's okay. I also think looking at it It looks like there's some tactile nature to this packaging that's different from their like body wash packaging, it has edges. not like it's top heavy or anything, so not to falling over. It is kind of tall though, tall and like skinty. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, and the and they're all same. they do have those tiny like tactile indents, but I believe that those indents are more Ashton McGrady: just there for aesthetics because it's across the entire line. if there's not a between your body watches your body lotions your shampoo and conditioner for my visually impaired folks, this might be kind difficult. Kailey Waskall: it's gonna be ridiculously while I think for our visually impaired friends, this is not the products for you. If you are scent sensitive or you have allergies, this might be a really nice to look into just to see if you like the scents and you like the feel. I do like that they're coming out with pieces their line to try to appeal to a wider consumer base. Ashton McGrady: yeah, it never hurts. more options we have, the better. would be curious to like it in store just to see if it's any different. Sometimes I open their body washes and I'm like, whoa, that really is fragranced. And while I personally don't mind fragranced body wash, I know it can be overpowering for some. But speaking of fragrance, our next launch is the DKNY Electric Eau de Are you looking at this because it's kind of crazy to me. It looks like an hourglass. ⁓ it's like a little platform in the middle of this pink hourglass ⁓ shaped packaging. so when looked at this, was like, I don't know that is relevant, but I feel like I need to talk about this. I always think about their like little apple delicious, do you remember those perfumes? ⁓ Kailey Waskall: Yes. I had the green one. Ashton McGrady: so like when I saw something from them, I was like, oh, they're still around and maybe that's just me being like not on top of things. But saw this and I was like, what the heck? where does the body and the top like separate? Cause looking at it, you can't tell it's all one color. that bulb on the top. That is the top. you open it up. to that platformed base, that's where the sprayer is, in the middle of the hourglass. Kailey Waskall: Which, honestly is kinda cool. Ashton McGrady: I was like for on my shelf. This is kind of sick, ⁓ but Kailey Waskall: No, but also bulb being inverted is gonna give you a nice grasp pattern on it. Ashton McGrady: grip. Yeah. I will say like it's metallic. It might be a little slippery. I do wish there was some between top and the body of product when I first looked at it, I didn't know how to use it. And when you're browsing in a store, you should be able to kind glance at something and determine it might be usable for you Kailey Waskall: I'm gonna accidentally put that thing down upside down. 100%. Ashton McGrady: for sure yeah. I don't know, but the notes also me. It's mango, jasmine vanilla. I haven't seen packaging quite like this in fragrance. So ⁓ thought we at least chat about it for a moment. Kailey Waskall: you know what? They're trying something new I'm in, I'm Ashton McGrady: it. sold. I kind of want to go like feel the packaging and see how easy it is to actually like interact with. Obviously, when we're talking with you guys, a lot of the times are brand new launches or it hasn't even quite launched yet. So we don't necessarily have the packaging in our hands. So there's always that caveat. But I would definitely be interested if any of you guys try it or to go into store and try it myself and hopefully share some more feedback. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, there's also a silver version. So the new one is the electric, then they have the original DKNY 24-7 that is ⁓ that same packaging but it's silver. So. Ashton McGrady: Well, I told you, don't know that they're particularly relevant 2026, but hey, I will give them this. The packaging is interesting. I could put it on my shelf. It would be pretty. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, and they still have the green perfume. You could still get the apple. Ashton McGrady: Crazy. Kailey Waskall: blast the past. I know, Ashton McGrady: Maybe I need to revisit that in 2026. That's definitely nostalgic. Should we move on to ask the collective? this week we have the question, what launch are you tired of seeing everywhere right now? Kailey Waskall: Yes. Ashton McGrady: as much ⁓ a ⁓ lippy girl as I am. I am the lip I am especially over the balms. I love balms, but I have a drawer full of them. And I buy one more, my wife is going to divorce me. Kailey Waskall: which ones are like peeking your fancy? Ashton McGrady: if I had choose a lip balm, I have a couple of favorites. the EDEM, Lechu Chu. is my absolute top tier favorite because it's an exfoliation and a hydration. It has metal tip. It feels luxurious and I honestly love it so much. The clear one in the shade butter mochi, but honestly the colored are also really cute. I feel like they're beautiful I wear it at night as a mask. And the other one I find myself reaching for most often is software by Experiment Beauty. The two of those just have the best texture to me. Kailey Waskall: I have tried Edam ones, but I have not tried the experiment. Beauty. So very... Yeah. Ashton McGrady: You wanna hear something crazy? don't remember the last time I've emptied a lip balm and I'm about to empty my software. Kailey Waskall: Wow, That is impressive. That is. Ashton McGrady: Like I do truly have a drawer full. So the fact that I'm about to empty it should say something if you are going to go out and you want a lip balm and you're going to spend your money on a lip balm those two I would highly highly recommend. what about you? What launch are you tired of seeing everywhere right now? Kailey Waskall: think everybody is coming out with body sprays new perfumes we've about quite a few fragrances ⁓ decision fatigue, right? know what I wanna smell like and it's many options I'm just gonna stay stinky. Ashton McGrady: So many. stay stinky? Stay stinky in 2026. Kailey Waskall: sneaky. ⁓ I read all these fragrances and I'm like, that sounds great. That sounds great. That sounds great. every single time I read it and I'm like, oh, I'm swept away in the story of this. And I don't again necessarily know what it's going to smell like, but I know I'm sold. I, Ashton McGrady: buying is dangerous. ⁓ Kailey Waskall: It's so dangerous. I feel like with perfumes, it's often a blind buy for me just because I so inundated with all of the stuff on the internet. And and what's kind of helping me is when I have big events or trips or things that I want a scent to be connected to, that's when I'll get a new scent typically. Ashton McGrady: I love that. I really feel like finding things that connect you to or just like feel nostalgic for you. ultimately what fragrance is here for. So I get that when presented with so many choices, it just feels so overwhelming. But it doesn't matter if you buy the new fragrance, go find something that you connect with that feels good for you. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, so right now I'm really loving the Merit one, which that packaging is, ugh, not the But it smells really, really good. ⁓ And then I really love Jackie Aina, ⁓ my gosh, Her Fragrances. Yes, Forever Mood. my gosh, So my grandmother always Ashton McGrady: Forever Mood? Kailey Waskall: like her house always smelled delicious. I have so many again memories she was truly just goals because she just had it all together right like this woman a powerhouse and one of the ⁓ one no but one of the forever moods the I brings back to like her and ⁓ Ashton McGrady: can't imagine doing that personally. Yeah. Kailey Waskall: she was that be like she so cool ⁓ and ⁓ one where like, I really kind of want to buy this This connects me to something this feels like I have feeling I'm wearing this. So yeah that one is on my to-buy list But it's not even new ⁓ Ashton McGrady: You said I am her. Right. funny that you mentioned that because the Forever Mood to Get, which I do own, reminds me a lot of my because it reminds me ⁓ of she to make pound cake, like it's supposed to smell like lemon pound cake. so that one also like really brings me back. love how fragrance can do that, like really send you back into a memory. Kailey Waskall: Yeah, because there are so many fragrance launches right now and I am someone who is very susceptible to marketing, like 100%. I know that about myself. I see a lot of people talking about a product and I go, well, I obviously need that product. But that's like a rule I've created myself where I get fragrances when either were going on a trip and I want to remember the trip or like it. Ashton McGrady: Same. Kailey Waskall: just hits me over the head with something nostalgic warm Ashton McGrady: Right, and if I a sample or like a travel size and I go through it fully, I'll allow myself to purchase that fragrance. That feels justified. Kailey Waskall: That's so that was the I am her the forever mood had and I was like, I fear I do this. it's on the. Ashton McGrady: I love that. like, actually, I need that. That justified. I did just like do that myself. I went through complete sample and I was waiting I was waiting for this fragrance to come into stock. It's from an indie perfumer called Source. They're based here in Charlotte, North and I do love them. once I went through that, I was ⁓ this fragrance took forever to restock. I'm going to buy it. So I splurged and that was my celebration for launching the podcast and signing a contract that I was really excited about last week. But otherwise, agree. I don't really need to go out and purchase fragrances. I have enough. I need to focus on shopping my own stash. feel like if feels nostalgic for you, if it compels a memory, or if you something like going through a sample or going through a travel size, it feels justified to make a purchase.
